Essay on Preventing the Extinction of the Simpona Lemur
When many hear about a lemur, they immediately think of the movie Madagascar and the fun loving
role that is played by the lemur King Julien; similarly, when hearing the name Madagascar, many
think of the land of the lemurs. However, what would happen if there were no more lemurs? This is a
harsh but readily approaching reality of Madagascar today. Lemurs are known as the world s most
endangered mammals, and specifically the Simpona, otherwise known as the Silky Sifaka lemur, is
critically endangered. If treatments of Madagascar s habitat, specificity the small mountainous area of
northeastern Madagascar where the Simpona lemur reside, continue being treated as they are today,
this will not only lead to the complete extinction of this rare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, extinction is highly possible for these lemurs because if they become extinct in the wild,
there will be none left in the world at all.
One of the biggest factors effecting the Simpona lemur population is tourists. Although tourists come
to marvel on the beautiful agriculture and species that make up Madagascar, they are unfortunately
contributing to the decline of the Simpona lemur. As the tourist rates increase destination resorts
increase, which then leads to reduced land for wildlife. Tourists are wanting to reside within the forest
to be immersed in the environment and have the ability to see the wildlife from the comfort of their
hotels (Simpona). This has meant deforestation had to occur to make room for hotels located within or
right near the undamaged forest. As a result this leads to people questioning why they would go to the
extent of damaging the forests and reducing the population of lemurs for the tourists. This is a result of
tourism having a major role in the economy. Tourism is a crucial part of Madagascar s economy and
without tourism the economy would plummet. This country has become so reliant on attracting
tourists that it has become one of its biggest forms of income (WWF Endangered Lemur Fights for
Survival in Madagascar). Due to tourists being interested in the island s biodiversity Madagascar has
attracted visitors for various reasons ranging from family vacations to scientific research. However,

ABSTRACT
This project deals with the calculation of the energy meter billing with prepaid facility by using
Smartcard based on the load consumption with GSM communication . The microcontroller calculates
the rupees that will be consumed by the loads as per the amount inserted in prepaid recharge card
,which acts as input and displays it on the 16X2 LCD interfaced with the microcontroller. This project
thesis is also covers the recharge option on every insert of card in smart module and the power is
continued to process. This project is powered by an on board power supply takes the ac power and
converts it into dc power that is fed to on board devices and integrated circuits.
2. INTRODUCTION TO EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
What is Embedded system?
An Embedded System is a combination of computer hardware and software, and perhaps additional
mechanical or other parts, designed to perform a specific function. An embedded system is a
microcontroller based, software driven, reliable, real time control system, autonomous, or human or
network interactive, operating on diverse physical variables and in diverse environments and sold into
a competitive and cost conscious market.
An embedded system is not a computer system that is used primarily for processing, not a software
system on PC or UNIX, not a traditional business or scientific application. High end embedded lower

Why Did World War 1 Happen
World War one was one of the deadliest conflicts that most of the world was involved in. There were
many reasons why Europe went from peace to war so fast. There were many alliances around the
world to balance the power of Europe. Some examples were the triple alliance and the Triple Entente.
These alliances consisted of Germany, Austro Hungary, and Italy for the Triple alliance. The Triple
Entente consisted of Great Britain, France, and Russia. There are many other reasons why World War
1 happened, many factors that are going to be in this paper that I m writing. The main one that I
believe was the immediate cause of World War 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
There were many nationalist ideas running around the world. Many new countries were forming in
declining and fragmenting empires. Europe was a bomb waiting to be detonated, the only problem is,
who s going to do it. Nationalism was especially high in Serbia. They wanted a bigger nation and
wanted to form their own empire. Many countries had minority Groups in their country and the
cultures were very different than what nations had. Serbia was going to take Bosnia, but Austria
annexed them outright. That spark was later lit when the Black Hand, a terrorist Group in Serbia,
wanted independence from their mother country, Austria Hungary. ... Show more content on

The Main Colonizers were Great Britain, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands. Germany wanted to

they didn t have much at all. Great Britain relied heavily on their colonies for their trade and economy
along with France. Germany wanted to expand its empire as it was a fairly new nation to begin with.

Case Study Jonesborough
Unfortunately, Jonesborough lacks any form of regular, scheduled public transportation.
After speaking with employees of The Jonesborough Chamber of Commerce, they said at one time the
Johnson City Transit would make several runs per day to the Jonesborough Chamber of Commerce
parking lot. This allowed residents of Jonesborough a ride to the transit hub in Johnson City for their
needs. There they could ride other buses to their destinations, and ride the bus back to the Chamber
when their errands were done.
Although they were not sure of the date, Johnson City had discontinued the transit service to
Jonesborough several years ago. They were unsure of why the transit was discontinued, and there are
no plans to re implement the transportation to Jonesborough at the present time. ... Show more content

Uber is now available in the Tri Cities area. A ride from the Jonesborough Chamber of Commerce to
the Johnson City Transit System main hub would cost anywhere from $19 $25 depending on the

well, L L Taxi and WW Taxi Company offer taxi services to and from the Jonesborough area
(www.lanltaxi.net) (https://www.facebook.com/WWTAXICO/).
Chamber employees also stated the local churches do offer rides to their worship services, and other
transportation services are available on an on demand system. They said there is a network of people
in the local churches who will provide transportation on an as needed basis to medical appointments,
grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. Employees at the chamber said, although no public transportation is
available, they have never known anyone to miss a medical appointment or not have their daily needs
due to the loss of public transportation.

Ambrose Biierce Writing Style
The writing style of Ambrose Bierce can essentially be depicted as bitter. His stories include the 1891
story Chickamauga , the 1891 story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and the adapted An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Twilight Zone film in 1964. Both stories had some kind of
incongruity or plot twist that made his stories fascinating. Occasions throughout his life molded his
view on the world. This perspective reaches out into his written work when he takes a gander at the
sharp side of the world in a large portion of his stories and into the aspects of death. The story
Chickamauga tells of a small boy who with a toy sword who wanders off into the woods to fight
invisible foes. The boy strays too far and evidently becomes lost and lies down to rest and sleeps for
several hours. Soon after he awakes he is joined by hundreds of dead or wounded soldiers and rather
than being frightened by them he is entertained by them and eventually, with a sword in hand, takes a
position in front of the group to lead them. Soon he and the soldiers come across a small body of water
and the soldiers make a rush for in which many with the lack of strength die. With seeing a fire in the
distance, the child becomes excited and moves towards the flames. When the boy finally reaches the
fire he sees that the flames were sprouting from his own plantation he runs in search of his mother
whom he finds with her face facing upward, her hands thrown out clutched full of grass, and clothing

The Day My Little Sister
Looking back on life, there are many little moments that stand out. Some, more than others, have
shaped you in a way that changed the trajectory of your life. These moments can be anything, walking
left may have saved you from being mugged, choosing the wrong car can get you stranded in the
middle of nowhere. These little choices and events have a way of forming how we are going to live
our lives. There are days that are more important than others, however, for me only one comes to
mind. The day my little sister, Emily, was born is the most important day of my existence, this day
altered my life for the better. When I was an only child, I never felt lonesome. I was constantly the
center of attention. When I was not with my parents, I was with my Ma and Pa my grandparents I
could do anything I wanted to do, because they allowed it. Although, I always had a small suspicion
that I was missing out on something. My friends had younger siblings, as I observed their interactions
I discovered what I was missing out on. I exhausted myself for hours trying to determine if I wanted a
brother or a sister. Eventually, after thinking it over I implored my parents for a little sister. Years later,
my parents told me they were frightened of my reaction if I happened to get a brother. Nonetheless, I
got precisely what I wanted. Emily was born on a bright Friday morning. I was there the entire time,
amusing myself with my life sized baby doll as I sat in the waiting room. I wanted to help

A Rhetorical Analysis Of In Cold Blood
ICB Rhetorical Analysis
Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood, builds the setting of the small town of Holcomb, Kansas.
His purpose is to emphasize that the town of Holcomb is a small town where no one comes and no one
leaves. He includes these details to show the contrast between the town before and after the murders
of the Clutter family to the reader.
Capote begins to describe the setting by referring to Holcomb as a village, unknown to most people,
even fellow Kansans. The effect of this is to highlight that the town is small and secluded. Capote
mentions that the local accent is a barbed wire with a prairie twang, pinpointing that the village is
closed off to the outside world. The streets are unpaved and unnamed; Capote adds this detail to
continue to affirm to the reader that no one comes into Holcomb because the people of Holcomb
already know where everything is and if people did come into Holcomb, they would need to have
named streets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses this detail to emphasize that the town of Holcomb is portrayed as a town that isn t kept up
with and doesn t really try hard to keep a good external appearance. This can also be supported by the
point that the postmistress works in a falling apart office, implying that no one ever uses the post
office. The effect of this ties into how the town isn t kept up as well as how nothing and no one comes

Oppression In Canada
The labeling of individuals and groups as different is part of the process of creating social hierarchies,
which represents the foundation of oppression (de Leeuw, Kobayashi, Cameron, 2011). This story
brings to light the denial of systematic racism of the indigenous people in Canada. It was established
that although Canada prides itself in the great variety of culture and ethnicity and religion. However,
despite such practices, racism is still a significant issue. Oppression is a contemporary issue for
indigenous people because Canadians are still ignorant about aboriginal history. There is a
misconception that aboriginals are either living in an idyllic utopian society or in a primitive world.

Additionally, the attempts made to correct the situations has been viewed as special rights causing
more resentment of the aboriginal people today. The continued existence of Indian reserves serves as
one of the most visible reminders of the racebased segregation of First Nations people in Canada
(Musto, 1990). I chose social work as my professional career path because it is a diverse field unique
from the name to the diversity, and most importantly the power to make a difference in people s life s.
Social workers don t just tell people to get better they give them the tools to enhance there lives.
Despite the negative connotation and stereotypes, I believe that it is important to have social workers
because they are the protectors and guiders of the everyday people. The ability to communicate
precisely with those who s cultural perspective differentiates from mine is not just a matter of respect
but a matter of appropriateness. In relation to these learnings and as an aspiring social worker. It is
practice that you are tailored to client s belief system in order to develop a healthy identity
development. My learning of the legacy of oppression tailors my professional ability to practice
cultural appropriation and respectful cultural competence when working with aboriginal

Operant Conditioning Program Analysis
A weight loss program in a month is a hard obstacle to tackle. If a roommate is in need of help so that
he can lose weight to make the football team, there are ways in which you can help. A behavior
modification program can be set up to help the roommate. To begin, the principles of operant
conditioning will get him started on his weight loss journey. In order for a successful program we need
to use positive reinforcement, progress reports, and a schedule of reinforcement.
First off, the most effective way one should create a behavior modification program is based upon the
ideas of operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is: learning controlled by the consequences of the
organism s behavior. There are two main categories of operant conditioning. ... Show more content on

A variable interval schedule works on an average time schedule, with the actual interval varying
randomly. A variable schedule is shown to cultivate more positive rates of response than a consistent
schedule. Meanwhile the roommate will be partially reinforced. This means that he will not be
reinforced for every time that he loses weight, but only at random intervals. This partial reinforcement
is shown to slow down the extinction rates of the desired behavior. Next, we will set the average time
interval to be five days. For example, after the first day of the month when the roommate is initially
weighed, we will weigh him seven days after the initial weigh in, and then 3 days after that. By doing
this, the average weigh in time is still five days. However, the actual interval is still at random. Lastly,
only various times that the roommate loses weight, he will receive his gold star as a stimulus for
positive reinforcement. After one month of receiving positive reinforcement in the form of a gold star,
the roommate will understand what he should be doing to lose weight.
In conclusion, using the principle of positive reinforcement in this program will successfully help the
roommate to lose weight and to gain a position on the football team. By using positive reinforcement
and a variable interval schedule of reinforcement, the behavior modification program will be

Psychological Consequences of Earthquakes
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, floods, and tornadoes are some of the
traumatic experiences that may cause posttraumatic stress disorders. This type of disorders and other
disaster related psychological problems are prevalent after natural disasters. As a result it is important
to analyse those individuals that develop psychological problems especially to prepare and plan
interventions both in the short and long term after disaster (Coşkun, Coşkun, 2000, p: 68).

Beowulf vs Grendel Essay
The roles that Beowulf and Grendel played in the story were very easily
deciphered. Beowulf being pure good, and Grendel being pure evil. One of the reasons of
why the book Beowulf is so well known is because of the fact that it is one of the first
stories of good vs. evil, or light vs. dark. In modern good and evil stories, there are super
heroes with super powers. They use these powers for the good of the world and to help
innocent people. In most cases there is a villain that oppose these super hero s. They
usually have powers as well but they use it for evil and wrongdoing. They usually face

He has been chosen to protect the world from evil. When this story was made,
the author intended for it to be clear that Beowulf is supposed to be the hero of the story.
Grendel was the character that played the villain in the book. He killed innocent
people for only the reason of that they were having a good time, and he wasn t. He is
pure evil and kills countless people for pretty much the fun of it. He was said to be able to
pick up thirty men at a time. So no normal human could match his strength. In the book
it s very easy to understand that Grendel is pure evil. He is called The Captain of evil .
It doesn t get anymore obvious then that. Grendel is shown as a monster that cannot be
stopped. He s a powerful force that can run through anyone and everything. But not the
Super Hero. He could never match the power of pure good. So when Grendel fought
Beowulf, Beowulf tricked him in thinking he was asleep and as soon as Grendel got near
him, Beowulf grabbed him. Once Grendel was grabbed by Beowulf, he immediately
knew that he was up against a man like non other. He franticly tried to escape and run
away. But the power of the hero and the good that ran through his veins was able to rip

Wal Mart And Sainsbury Target Mass Social Target Audience
The following report takes into account the selection of two integral companies with global
operations, Wal Mart and Sainsbury. These two companies are critically assessed in link to their
individual brand positioning strategies. Some strategies overlap each other whereas some are different,
so both are discussed in context. The brand positioning strategy has taken into account the individual
companies marketing objectives, sales pitches, expansive strategies and service competition that are
provided nationally and internationally. Wal Mart has its extensive operations, hence has a more
generic service oriented approach where products are sold and retailed in an intelligent global manner.
In this context, its international website layout, online presence and promotional campaigns are
discussed that hopes to target mass social target audience. On the other hand, Sainsbury deals in the
same business of retail and online shopping, but since its operations are more suited and favorable in
the United Kingdom, that is why its operations are limited compared to Wal Mart. Sainsbury deals
with niche market segment, which is limited by some geographic and demographic segmentation.
Sainsbury s promotional and marketing campaigns are also less generic, and keep intact its present
social and cultural context. Both companies are suggested for service development, market penetration
and market developments. Since both companies are rates exceptionally agile, they still compete on

Using Porous Organometallic Compounds For Various Material...
Introduction
In the past century extensive research has been conducted on porous organometallic compounds for
use in various material applications. Although numerous compounds containing Lewis bases, such as
nitriles and bipyridines and have been reported to be successful at the sorption of small molecules, the
desorption of the guest often leads to structural collapse of the host. 1,2 Metal organic frameworks
(MOFs) have shown to be a valuable class of newer materials that can support permanent porosity
upon the evacuation of the framework. Unlike zeolites, which are fully inorganic, the flexibility in the
choice of the organic linker comprising the backbone of the MOF structure makes the size of the
poragen formed tunable for a wider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas
separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors as
geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on
structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions.
Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption and
desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next generation
gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One particular gas
that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created combustion
activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is becoming ever
more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be functionalized for high
selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of adsorption. MOFs with open
cation sites such as MOF 74 derivatives, as well as those containing amine functional groups are
especially useful.10 The

Essay on Thoughts on Game Theory in Economics
According to Wikipedia, game theory is a branch of applies mathematics that is used in the social
sciences (mostly economics). Game theory can also be defined as a theory of competition stated in
terms of gains and losses among opposing players. Game theory tries to mathematically imprison
behavior in strategic situations, in which a person s success in making choices depends on the choices

Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
Hold back the edges of your gowns, Ladies, we are going through hell, (Sullivan 1) as William Carlos
Williams put it, in introducing the first edition of Allen Ginsberg s Howl. Most famously known for
Howl, Ginsberg was recognized for his obscene and exaggerated writing style. With Edgar Allen Poe
being a form of influence and admiration in Ginsberg s eyes, it s understandable to see where he gets
his inspiration. Allen Ginsberg s work of literature is important because it challenges mainstream
societal values and gives a voice to those who struggle with repression by a patriarchal agenda. Howl,
Allen Ginsberg s best known poem was his most popular and most controversial work of literature.
This poem is separated into three different parts. The title Howl is in reference to protest and cry for
all exploitation and repression. The poet asks the reader to cry against capitalism (Howl 7 8). Ginsberg
was a headstrong social and political activist during his time. He related to the free spirited hippie
generation and the make love, not war movement. He also revolted against mainstream American
culture as a way to challenge other civilian s mindsets. Calling Howl a story isn t accurate, its more

The Obesity Epidemic
Introduction The World Health Organization defines being overweight or obese as abnormal or
excessive fat accumulation that may impair an individual s state of health. One asks themselves, how
being overweight or obese can be measured? Measuring or classifying an individual of being
overweight or obese can be done by measuring an individual s body mass index or BMI. BMI is an
index that classifies individuals to determine if they are either underweight, normal weight,
overweight or obesity. BMI can be easily calculated by an individual s weight in kilograms divided by
the square of individual s height in meters (kg / m^2). According to the World Health Organization, an
individual is classified by BMI, in the following order: underweight = 18.5, normal weight = 18.5
24.9, overweight = 25 29.9, obesity = 30. BMI is useful to measure population because it is
standardized in both sexes and all ages in adults. According to the WHO, overweight and obesity is
the fifth leading risk global deaths. Being overweight or obese can lead to diabetes, osteoarthritis,
cardiovascular diseases (heart disease, stroke) and certain cancers (endometrial, breast and colon).
Epidemiologists and others in respect fields have figured out the causes that lead to being overweight
or obese. The main cause s an energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the WHO have seen that globally an increased
intake of energy dense foods

The Pitfalls Of Plastic Surgery Summary
In The Pitfalls of Plastic Surgery, by Camille Paglia, she argues that American surgeons are being too
narrow minded with their work because they use the same models as a representation of what their
clients can look like. She suggests that getting plastic surgery has become such a normal thing in
America and that society pushes women to get work done in order to get that perfect look. Paglia also
points out that plastic surgery has leveled the playing field with wives and their husbands mistresses
(694). Also, she believes that plastic surgery is not only critical in keeping a job, but also in keeping a
relationship. Although I agree with some of Paglia s arguments, I view some of the issues differently
such as, needing plastic surgery to keep a marriage, that plastic surgery is for non intellectuals, that
Hollywood s environment encourages women to change their looks, and that nothing good can come
out of plastic surgery.
Over time, many wives would have to compete with younger women that had a better physical
appearance than them, thus, causing many wives to get plastic surgery so they would not lose their
husband to younger women. Paglia criticizes the idea of women getting plastic surgery in order to
keep their husbands when saying, In the post 1960s culture of easy divorce on demand, middle aged
women have found themselves competing with nubile women in their 20s, who are being scooped up
as trophy second wives by ambitious men having a midlife crisis. Cosmetic

The Beginning And End Of Rape By Louise Erdrich
Minority groups have always been marginalized and bellowed by our current justice system in society
within these groups are women, this leads to questioning the role of the justice system in perpetuating
violence in for example Native American groups. In the U.S. the justice system has failed to protect
these women specifically Native American women from sexual violence, and what worsens the case is
that more often than not their attackers are let off easy or escape punishment altogether because of
federal, state and tribal jurisdictions. In the Round House by Louise Erdrich which is set in 1988 and

Leadership Secrets Of Colin Powell
Introduction
The book, Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell by Oren Harari provides an interesting overview of the
leadership exhibited by one of the globally known bottom line leaders in the United States. The
exceptional perspective on the role leadership plays is provided in the book, using Powell as the case
study. From the perspective provided by the author, the leader is revealed as one who was able to
portray successful leadership within the military, although it is a place in which is hard to achieve side
by side leadership. On the contrary, Powell is able to demonstrate that leadership is more about
responsibility and accountability as opposed to privilege and rank. It is all about complete
commitment towards a common mission, portraying audacity and determination, evaluation of
standards of performance, attending to details, overcoming the status quo, and empowering followers.
Discussion of the Book s Contents
Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell contains words, wisdom and insights of one of the most influential
figures in the history of America, Colin Powell. It is a source of inspirations from his humble
beginning in Harlem to becoming the Secretary of State. The book provides a background of his birth
and upbringing, but more importantly his success story as a leader. His journey in leadership is vividly
described in the book, rising through the military ranks to becoming the chair of the Joint Chiefs of

July 20th, 1969. The day man landed on the moon. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin
made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our

American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an enormous one.
To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth was very costly.
Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocket is very costly and very inefficient.
There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost and increase the
efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is the use of nuclear
power.
A rockets is more or less a controlled explosion. This explosion is directed through a nozzle that

Essay On Gender Expectations In Romeo And Juliet
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare both Romeo and Juliet fit into gender
expectations in some ways. Gender roles are stereotypes that males and females fulfill and each of the
same gender is supposed to follow by a courtesy code. Most gender roles are not being followed
anymore as shown by the fact that women like sports as much as men; men can now stay at home and
have the females in the family work. Although Juliet conforms to gender expectations by making
irrational decisions, being childish and depending on others, but in some circumstances, she also
defies them by not listening to her father.
To start with, Juliet is easily swayed into rash decisions without thinking them through. Towards the
beginning of the play, Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague. Juliet, at the party, states that her

would have about guys nowadays. When Romeo had recently been banished and Tybalt had just been
killed, Juliet is informed of her parents decision to make her marry Paris and she had an extremely
childish and pouty reaction. Now, by Saint Peter s Church, and Peter too, He shall not make me there a

throwing a temper tantrum which is very childish. This portrays Juliet as a childish teenager with

Essay on Effective Leadership

since I worked with Lucy, but I still remember her leadership style and it has had lasting effects on the

able listen to her staff and communicates where they need to go to meet the goals of the organization.
This requires listening but also speaking in a way that can be easily understood, so that everyone on
the team knows what the goals are and how to meet them. She took the time to know us as individuals
and took an interest in our personal lives. People want to know that they matter and that they have an

Jackie Robinson and the Struggle for Equality in Baseball
Baseball has always been known as America s pastime. But America s pastime, along with America s
past, have both been saturated with the brutal force of racism. For hundreds of years, from the time of
slavery until the middle of the 20th century, African American children rounded up their friends and
headed to the baseball diamond. There, for thousands of young black players, the smell of the grass,
the cloud of dust that formed when running the ninety feet between bases, and the feeling of safely
sliding into homeplate for a run marked the glimmer of fun and excitement in an otherwise dreary day.

What Does The Scaffold Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
Symbol of Sin In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, the use of a torturous scaffold symbolizes
sin and redemption. In Hawthorne s novel, the afflicting scaffold is present in three scenes throughout
the story. The first scene occurs during the introduction of the novel, where Hester Prynne is given
time on the structure in return for her sinful crime of adultery. The second scene occurs in the middle
of the novel, where Arthur Dimmesdale stands on the scaffold, feeling remorse and guilt for his crime
which he commits with Prynne. The final scene takes place in the resolution of the story, where
Dimmesdale is dying and confesses his sin in front of the whole town. Throughout The Scarlet Letter,

Compare And Contrast The Astronauts In Apollo 11 And The...
Have you ever wondered why historians compare the astronauts in Apollo 11 and the Corpse of

This journey took place after the Louisiana purchase and soon made American history. Then, on July
16th,1969, three astronauts were sent up into space about to make American history. There were some
difficulties, but they successfully made it to the moon. These two topics may sound off, but if you

In order to be an astronaut, you need to have a degree in science and engineering. In fact, you must be
in top condition in order to go into space. You must be free from diseases, and you cannot depend on

attention to their condition when he was choosing his men. However, his men had never been out
west. This was a big disadvantage because no one knew what could of been out there. On the other
hand, Neil Armstrong, one of the astronauts on Apollo 11, is an experienced astronaut. This was a
advantage for the other astronauts. In comparison, both of the groups were able to bring back some
amazing things. The astronauts on Apollo 11 were able to bring back lunar samples for scientists to

Apollo 11, the men participating in the Corpse of discovery were specifically chosen. However, these
two topics had their differences. For example: While the men in Apollo 11 rode on rockets, Lewis and

they were regarded as the strongest military power in the Middle East . Also, the Arabs had become
severely weakened as a result of the Six Day War, as they had lost a high amount of casualties and the
relations between Syria, Jordon and Egypt declined as evident through Syria not accepting UN
Resolution 242 while Egypt and Jordon did. Through Israel s superiority, their relations with Egypt
had improved as highlighted through Egypt recognising Israel as a state in 1979. Nevertheless, Israel s
dominancy also stresses its improvement in its relations with Jordan signing a peace treaty in 1994,

Fashion of the Elizabethan Era
Fashion of the Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan era was a time period centered around the life of Queen Elizabeth I s reign (1558
1603). This period in time is considered the peak of English history and is the beginning of when
people began to think and believe differently. That brought along changes in the way people dressed.
How people, particularly rich ones, dressed was just another way for them to express themselves.
Social classes are also very much prominent in the era. These social classes influenced the fashion of
the Elizabethan era. This is shown in men s and women s clothes, shoes, hats, and accessories in the
sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. (Whitmore, Deanne)

The hats women wore in the era were very diverse. They would sometimes just be wraps, but other

scarf worn on top of a woman s head. They would sometimes use wire framing inside the scarf which
was very decorative. One of the biggest hats women wore in the 16th century was the horned head
dress. This was a truly fantastic invention. It had two extensions, one to each side of the head,
extending out to each shoulder. Draping off the extensions was some sort of sheer material usually
decorated with jewels. For women accessories weren t very prominent in the beginning of the century
because Britain was still a member of the Catholic Church, which banned jewelry, but when the
country broke away from the church and the ban was lifted. Towards the end of the century, women
began to wear the occasional strand of pearls or a small necklace with gems in it.

  • 2. Essay on Preventing the Extinction of the Simpona Lemur When many hear about a lemur, they immediately think of the movie Madagascar and the fun loving role that is played by the lemur King Julien; similarly, when hearing the name Madagascar, many think of the land of the lemurs. However, what would happen if there were no more lemurs? This is a harsh but readily approaching reality of Madagascar today. Lemurs are known as the world s most endangered mammals, and specifically the Simpona, otherwise known as the Silky Sifaka lemur, is critically endangered. If treatments of Madagascar s habitat, specificity the small mountainous area of northeastern Madagascar where the Simpona lemur reside, continue being treated as they are today, this will not only lead to the complete extinction of this rare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, extinction is highly possible for these lemurs because if they become extinct in the wild, there will be none left in the world at all. This is a result of tourism having a major role in the economy. Tourism is a crucial part of Madagascar s economy and without tourism the economy would plummet. This country has become so reliant on attracting tourists that it has become one of its biggest forms of income (WWF Endangered Lemur Fights for Survival in Madagascar). Due to tourists being interested in the island s biodiversity Madagascar has attracted visitors for various reasons ranging from family vacations to scientific research. However, the main ... The main one that I believe was the immediate cause of World War 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. There were many nationalist ideas running around the world. Many new countries were forming in declining and fragmenting empires. Europe was a bomb waiting to be detonated, the only problem is, who s going to do it. Nationalism was especially high in Serbia. They wanted a bigger nation and wanted to form their own empire. Many countries had minority Groups in their country and the cultures were very different than what nations had. His stories include the 1891 story Chickamauga , the 1891 story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and the adapted An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Twilight Zone film in 1964. Both stories had some kind of incongruity or plot twist that made his stories fascinating. Occasions throughout his life molded his view on the world. This perspective reaches out into his written work when he takes a gander at the sharp side of the world in a large portion of his stories and into the aspects of death. The story Chickamauga tells of a small boy who with a toy sword who wanders off into the woods to fight invisible foes. The boy strays too far and evidently becomes lost and lies down to rest and sleeps for several hours. Soon after he awakes he is joined by hundreds of dead or wounded soldiers and rather than being frightened by them he is entertained by them and eventually, with a sword in hand, takes a position in front of the group to lead them. Although, I always had a small suspicion that I was missing out on something. My friends had younger siblings, as I observed their interactions I discovered what I was missing out on. I exhausted myself for hours trying to determine if I wanted a brother or a sister. Eventually, after thinking it over I implored my parents for a little sister. Years later, my parents told me they were frightened of my reaction if I happened to get a brother. Nonetheless, I got precisely what I wanted. Emily was born on a bright Friday morning. His purpose is to emphasize that the town of Holcomb is a small town where no one comes and no one leaves. He includes these details to show the contrast between the town before and after the murders of the Clutter family to the reader. Capote begins to describe the setting by referring to Holcomb as a village, unknown to most people, even fellow Kansans. The effect of this is to highlight that the town is small and secluded. Capote mentions that the local accent is a barbed wire with a prairie twang, pinpointing that the village is closed off to the outside world. This partial reinforcement is shown to slow down the extinction rates of the desired behavior. Next, we will set the average time interval to be five days. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors as geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions. Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption and desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next generation gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One particular gas that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created combustion activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is becoming ever more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be functionalized for high selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of adsorption. Measuring or classifying an individual of being overweight or obese can be done by measuring an individual s body mass index or BMI. BMI is an index that classifies individuals to determine if they are either underweight, normal weight, overweight or obesity. BMI can be easily calculated by an individual s weight in kilograms divided by the square of individual s height in meters (kg / m^2). Although I agree with some of Paglia s arguments, I view some of the issues differently such as, needing plastic surgery to keep a marriage, that plastic surgery is for non intellectuals, that Hollywood s environment encourages women to change their looks, and that nothing good can come out of plastic surgery. Over time, many wives would have to compete with younger women that had a better physical appearance than them, thus, causing many wives to get plastic surgery so they would not lose their husband to younger women. Paglia criticizes the idea of women getting plastic surgery in order to keep their husbands when saying, In the post 1960s culture of easy divorce on demand, middle aged women have found themselves competing with nubile women in their 20s, who are being scooped up as trophy second wives by ambitious men having a midlife crisis. The Beginning And End Of Rape By Louise Erdrich Minority groups have always been marginalized and bellowed by our current justice system in society within these groups are women, this leads to questioning the role of the justice system in perpetuating violence in for example Native American groups. In the U.S. the justice system has failed to protect these women specifically Native American women from sexual violence, and what worsens the case is that more often than not their attackers are let off easy or escape punishment altogether because of federal, state and tribal jurisdictions. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our celestial neighbour. Almost eight years prior President John F. Kennedy made his proclamation to the American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an enormous one. To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth was very costly. Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocket is very costly and very inefficient. There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost and increase the efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is the use of nuclear power. • 34. Essay On Gender Expectations In Romeo And Juliet In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare both Romeo and Juliet fit into gender expectations in some ways. Gender roles are stereotypes that males and females fulfill and each of the same gender is supposed to follow by a courtesy code. Most gender roles are not being followed anymore as shown by the fact that women like sports as much as men; men can now stay at home and have the females in the family work. Although Juliet conforms to gender expectations by making irrational decisions, being childish and depending on others, but in some circumstances, she also defies them by not listening to her father. To start with, Juliet is easily swayed into rash decisions without thinking them through. Towards the beginning of the play, Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague. When Romeo had recently been banished and Tybalt had just been killed, Juliet is informed of her parents decision to make her marry Paris and she had an extremely childish and pouty reaction. Now, by Saint Peter s Church, and Peter too, He shall not make me there a joyful bride. (iii:v 121 122). Almost 200 years ago, 35 men were sent on a long journey that lasted about two years. This journey took place after the Louisiana purchase and soon made American history. Then, on July 16th,1969, three astronauts were sent up into space about to make American history. There were some difficulties, but they successfully made it to the moon. One of the smaller head ornaments they would wear was the curved French hood. It looked like a hood that was falling off of the back of someone s head. Another smaller head covering was the gable hood. It was pentagon shaped, heavily starched scarf worn on top of a woman s head. They would sometimes use wire framing inside the scarf which was very decorative. One of the biggest hats women wore in the 16th century was the horned head dress. Draping off the extensions was some sort of sheer material usually decorated with jewels.
