Stereotypes Of The Older Generation
I think that sometimes the older generation will stereotypically think that the younger generation is
lazy, irresponsible, ungrateful and that they have no respect for others. The older generation may
feel that the younger generation has no moral values, that they are spoiled, and that they think
they know it all. The younger generation may feel that the older generation is inflexible, that they
are set in their ways, and that they are technologically unskilled. I think that these commonly
formed opinions about different generations can create views that divide us. I feel that each
generation could learn from the other if they are open and willing to do so. The only time I can
remember where I had a personal experience with a bias against me was many years ago after I
had moved to southern Louisiana when I started working at a... Show more content on

I feel that this is unfortunate because the differences that we have can be truly beneficial in
strengthening a company where different perspectives can help in being able to work more
creatively and productively together. We should try to stop ourselves when we first meet or see
someone from passing any judgment on them based on a stereotype that we may have because
in actuality we don t know who they are or what their strengths, thoughts, abilities, and ethics
are. I think that we need to try to recognize any stereotypes that we may personally each have and
then make a conscious decision to try to stop ourselves from thinking of others in that way. I
don t feel that we must agree with everyone else s beliefs or choices, but I think if we can put
aside our biases and acknowledge and appreciate all of the differences that are found within our
ages, skin colorings, genders, amounts of money that we have, where we are from, etc., I think that
it will help us to find a common ground and then, we can learn and benefit from one

Themes In Coming Of Age Stories
Coming of age stories are a very relatable genre of literature. The underlying plot line in coming of
age stories involve the main character, an adolescent, experiencing a pivotal event that changes their
point of view on life (Peyette, n.d.). The event marks the adolescent s transition into adulthood. The
event can often be referred to as initiation. The stories are thought provoking and interesting to read
because they contain numerous underlying messages and themes that can serve as tools to
understanding life. In the coming of agestories The Old People , Doe Season , and The Grave the
imagery of blood is portrayed in a more positive light in the story focusing on a male character than
in the stories focusing on female characters.
In the coming of age story The Old People , Ike McCaslin, the main character, is being mentored
by Sam Fathers. Sam is a family friend to the McCaslin s who also has a very interesting ethnic
background, and he has strong ties to the Native American culture. Ike shot his first deer after
chasing a large buck around the forest. To everyone s surprise, excluding Sam, the large buck
Ike chased around the forest was nothing comparable to the creature everyone else saw in the
forest. What lay before Sam and Ike was a small yearling. Sam took some of the yearling s blood
and put it on Ike s forehead as a type of Native American ritual (Faulkner, 1940). The ritual almost
seemed like Sam was cleansing Ike of his childhood and making Ike s

Minstrel Show Research Paper
Minstrel Shows Vaudeville
Minstrel shows were a very popular form of entertainment before the civil war
Minstrel shows mainly consisted of white people in black face, and after the civil war, it revolved
around slaves in black face performing as well. These shows were widely racist; the show typically
focused on the mockery of African people.
The Cakewalk was a popular minstrel show.
Eventually, minstrel shows developed into vaudeville.
Tap Dance
Tap dance was one of the first American art forms.

flashy stunts.

Musicals and Musical Films
Liked and Disliked Musicals Viewed in Class
From the videos we watched in class, I really enjoyed Step in Time from Mary Poppins, the clip
from Westside Story, Time of my Life from Dirty Dancing, the clip from Step up, and the
beginning of La La Land.
I really enjoyed watching every clip showed in class except for Whatever Lola Wants. Even
though I know that the mannerisms were meant to be performed in that way, I found Gwen
Verdon s dancing to be very awkward to watch. I was not aware that some of the movies these
clips were from could be classified as musicals. For example, I would have never thought that Step
Up and Dirty Dancing were musicals.
Minstrel shows and vaudeville were a part of early musical theater.
The Black Crook (1866), Show boat (1927), and Oklahoma! (1931) are some examples of early
musical theater compositions.
The Black Crook can be considered the first book musical.
Show Boat and Oklahoma! are both performed in two acts.

Davidson Conformity
In Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason, Michel Foucault, the
French philosopher, writes, What desire can be contrary to nature since it was given to man by
nature itself . In this quote, Foucault examines the absurd nature of human conformity to social
norms. Society has a way of creating unofficial rules and regulations for how the human race
should behave and carry out daily activities. Australian writer and traveler Robyn Davidson
challenged the constraints of conformity when she trekked 1,700 miles across the Australian
desert with only four camels and a dog. As a young, broke, inexperienced, female embarking on an
extraordinarily difficult solo journey, Davidson had all odds for success against her. From... Show

Asian American Identities Of Asian Americans Essay
Despite the fact that Asian Americans have been in Hollywood for decades, there are very few
positive representations of them in film. More often than not, they ve been depicted as stereotypical
caricatures, and more specifically, as foreigners who can t speak grammatically correct English.
Moreover, the negative representations of Asian Americans in film has perpetuated certain
misconceptions about their culture. Chan is Missing (1982) calls for more genuine representations
of Asian Americanidentities through its cast of complex characters and defiance of Asian
stereotypes. The film also urges its viewers to critically think about their own notions of identity
through the use of several recurring themes and filmmaking techniques.
Asians aren t represented often in Hollywood films, but when they are, they re usually confined to
stereotypes or one dimensional character traits. In Chan is Missing, however, though the characters
may at first seem as black and white as the film itself, by the end, many of the characters are well
developed and seem like real people. This is conveyed through the film s simplistic cinematography
as well as the casts naturalistic performances. The camera seems to have both an ominous third
person and, at times, first person perspective. This almost documentary like cinematography
coupled with the actors performances make the story seem much more genuine and interesting than
many conventional films. The film also punctuates the complexity of its

Sling Shot Theory Of Ethical Responsibility For Public...
Ethics Speaking with ethical responsibility is huge for public speakers because it helps them
connect with almost every member of the audience. You do not want to exclude any member by
making a remark of a certain race, or gender because this will lose you a lot of support; thus,
making your claims not be taken seriously. Too much ethical responsibility, soon turns into political
correctness. Which soon people get tired of as seen in the last Presidential race. As Professor Jordan

Europe fell into the Dark Ages on August 24th, 410 A.D. Rome was one of the greatest empires at

people living in Rome died. The thugs looted markets, causing a downfall in supplies such as food

Quilt Of A Country Theme
All stories have a theme. The theme will tell you what the Character or Characters learned at the
end. Sometimes a stories theme is really obvious and sometimes it is very hard to find. But the
theme is probably the most important thing in a story. And without the theme the story is
probably really boring. I have chosen three stories and will name and explain the themes of them.
The first story is A Quilt of a country and the theme of the story is that even though we may be
diverse we still have one thing in common and that is that we are all alike and are all human and
should treat others the way we would want to be treated. The second story is Once upon a time and

And it is saying that with more diverse people there are probably going to be more conflict. But
we need to work past this conflict to keep as one nation that stands above all in the end. And that

of a country. Once Upon a time says that when conflict is around you will want to protect
yourself and your family. But sometimes even in your own neighborhood you can be a victim
of conflict. For example the family makes all the precautions to keep them safe. But really no
matter where you are you may never be truly safe. And that not all stories that begin with: once

Abraham Lincoln after the battle at Gettysburg. He wrote the speech to commemorate the dead

In the real world and virtual world, we understand ourselves by developing aspects of our identity.
However, in the virtual world, we can explore our inner self without rejection that may be
experienced in the real world. Cyberspace is, thus, a psychological space to build and form,
explore and discover, and accept and understand ourselves. To explain this, we must view this on an
individual and collective perspective. Identity in cyberspace allows an individual to construct
themselves, and culture in cyberspace allows individuals to engage in social interactions which
involve identity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Donath and Palloff perspective, people use this psychological space to simply vent or act out
their fantasies and the frustrations, anxieties, and desires that fuel those fantasies. (Lopez
Martinez, 2001) This shows that we occasionally repress our true feelings and fantasies.
Therefore, we go online and feel comfortable in expressing our feelings and fantasies.
Cyberspace is more of an opportunity to better understand themselves, as a path for exploring
their identity... (Lopez Martinez, 2001) It is clear that cyberspace is limitless and this opens
doors to find your true self. Since we can create different characters and environments, we are
playing a game of ourselves and discovering who we are and who we wish to be. Psychoanalyst
Erik Erikson believed ...play [is] a toy situation that allows us to reveal and commit ourselves in
its unreality. (Turkle, 1996) Cyberspace help people express themselves using words and, in a
humanistic perspective, this process is called self actualization. The outcome is sometimes good
because people report being more like their true self offline.
The Internet has evolved to become a social medium which allow people to communicate. This
started in the early 1990s, where critics claim the Internet will become an information highway.
Then the internet made room for cyberculture, an online space reserved for

Development Of Wireless Mobile Telecommunication Essay
The purpose of the paper is to focus on the development of wireless mobile telecommunication.
Firstly, cellular network technology is introduced to understand the basis of wireless mobile
telecommunication. And then the history evolvement of mobile telephone systems is investigated
to help know the background of fourth generation wireless communication (4G). Finally, the
standard of 4G, different categories, the spread spectrum radio technologies as well as potential
benefits and problems that come with it are discussed. Especially, LTE standard is further
explained, including FDD LTE, TDD LTE and LTE advanced.
Cellular Network
In the development history of data communications and telecommunications, one of the most
significant advances has been the cellular networks technology, which is the foundation of wireless
mobile telecommunication and supports users in locations that are not easily served by wired
networks. It is the underlying technology for mobile telephones, wireless Internet and mobile web
applications, and so on.
Cellular network is a network where the last connection is wireless. In cellular network multiple
low power transmitters are used, with 100 W or less, thus, the spread range of such a transmitter
is small, dividing an area into cells. A band of frequencies is allocated to each cell and each cell
is served by a base station (BS), including of transmitter, receiver, and control unit. The base station
provides wireless network coverage which can be used

The Nuclear Arms Race
The nuclear arms race involving both the Unites States of America and the Soviet Union will
forever be part of the foundation of what we know emergency management to be today. This
foundation was the result of the need to prepare, not only for nuclear war, but also the fallout. In
order to properly prepare for and react to a potential nuclear attack, almost every level of State and
Local Government had a designee responsible for Civil Defense. Eventually, this led to the creation
of different government entities such as; The Federal Civil Defense Administration [FCDA] and
the Office of Defense Mobilization which was a Department of Defense [DOD] function. The
FCDA, although a federal entity was not properly financed or staffed. Furthermore,

In 2007 2008 youth offending rates were four times more than from people over 19 and are

This essay will explain why and also how youth crime is highest in late adolescence but declines
in early adulthood. This will be shown through relevant theories for example Robert Agnews
theory on adolescent peak in offending and also with reference to recent research from theorists
like (Laub and Sampson, 2003) , which explain how through social psychological and biological

The Minority of young people engage in serious offending. 17% of boy s aged 10 17 had

In official statistics 43% of all crimes and offences in Scotland are attributable to young people

The reason crimes could be higher in youths can be seen in the sort of crimes they commit, for
example vandalism, handling offensive weapons and house breaking.
Some researchers believe youth offending and petty crimes are a product of working class street

The Trial By Franz Kafka
In The Trial by Franz Kafka, the protagonist K. is going through what is often thought of as one of
the most dehumanizing aspects of society. Even in the United States many criticize the justice
system for being dehumanizing. People are forced to wear the same thing, act the same way, and
are given numbers instead of names. In The TrialKafka emphasizes the dehumanizing aspects of
this process by exacerbating the bureaucratic steps that must be accomplished and adds more
uncertainty and secrecy to the steps. Kafka s writing shows the lack of information that K. is
given, and the symbolic dehumanization that occurs during the whipping and with K. lacking a
last name. The actual steps K. must take to clear him name is always kept secret. K. is always
kept ignorant of his charges, of what he must do, of what the outcome will be, or of what will
happen next. As early as page 3 K. is kept in the dark. When he originally asks what he is being
charged with he is told We are not authorized to tell you that, (3), he is then promised that he will
be informed everything in due course, (3). K. is kept in a total state of ignorance throughout the
entire novel. He is constantly introduced to new people who say that they can help him, but he is
never given clear answers, he is just shown false hope. At no point does he make any real progress
in his case. He is always chasing information, just to find out that he has been running in circles the

SW2720 Case Study
Mrs Ann Smith is a seventy nine year old woman and she has several problems regarding her
health and well being in her elderly age. Many policies and legislation ensure the safety and well
being of the elderly such as Mrs Smith. Legislation and policies safeguard the elderly including Mrs
Smith to receive the fair treatment of care and to stop discrimination and exclusion. Discrimination
and exclusion is still prevalent today and within contemporary society the ageing population is
rising, discrimination and exclusion could increase if it is not appropriately tackled by
contemporary society today. There are numerous theories of ageing, some theories are
disengagement theory, and the activity theory and these theories have developed key concepts and
the effects of ageing on individuals and contemporary society today.
Discriminating against age and ageism is unfairly treating people and differently because of their
age (Age UK, 2012). Age discrimination and ageism can lead to social exclusion, isolation, and
loneliness throughout the elderly community. Age discrimination is illegal and detrimental to the
elderly; however, any form of treatment whilst it may be different can be good. Bus passes and
flu vaccinations are two free products that are available to be an advantage to the elderly age
group, and legislation still permits these benefits to remain. Direct discrimination is when a person

Asian Americans are diverse in terms of English proficiency, health needs and cultural identity.
There are some other factors, such as knowledge and beliefs regarding causes of disease, modes of
treatment, and value of prevention, which often delay Asian Americans from seeking out or

Asian Americans are often limited with English proficiency and a poor understanding of the
intricate American health care system. Members of the community may not know the right

The Invention Of The Television And Internet
What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art through the
alteration, modification, or transformation of elements of the original. A remix is a piece of art
that may have had items added, appropriated, or removed. Remix is everywhere and is nothing
new in public space. People have been doing it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and
other artistic art pieces. The advent of new technology and different forms of media have
allowed people to remix in entirely different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas.
The popularization of the television and Internet has allowed digital forms of remix, previously
impossible or only attainable for a small niche of the public. Though Banksy, Electronic
Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men group have taken advantage of digital forms of remix
through different means, the Yes Men group has remixed public space the best. Artists often put
their work in the public domain or space, but what exactly is that? Public space is just that,
locations accessible to the public with the most general being out on the streets, places
accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination. They are visible to anyone who has the
means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to everyone. This type of space
encompasses sides of buildings exposed to the street, parks, and open spaces such as plazas.
Another type of public space includes privately owned public spaces. These types of

Mozart vs. Beethoven Paper
3/21/12
Mozart vs. Beethoven In the 18th century, the middle class made a lot more money. During the
Classical Period, the middle class had a tremendous influence on music. They wanted to hear
concertos and symphonies. They wanted their children to learn great music and play instruments.
The composers began writing music that was geared towards the middle class because they could
make a better living if they enjoyed the music being played. They wrote music that was easier for
their students to understand and play. Serious music changed into comic operas, or popular folk
tunes, and dance music. This was a good thing it shaped dance and music forever. Mozart and

At the age of eight, he wrote a symphony and at eleven, he wrote an oratorio. Then, at the age of
twelve he wrote a great opera. Mozart s father was Leopold Mozart, who happened to be a court
musician. Both Mozart and Beethoven had help from their fathers in many different ways.
Mozart s father helped him travel around as a young musician and he traveled many places and
he seen many well known people and aristocrats. Because of Mozart s early successes many
challenges had become part of his life. He had very high expectations from the community and
from his father. Unlike, Beethoven, Mozart was spoiled as a youth and because of this he refused
to be treated as a servant. He completely relied on his father s help and refused to work with the
archbishop. This would become a problem later when Mozart did not develop enough initiative.
Because of that he could not make decisions on his own.
Then at age 25, Mozart broke free from Salzburg and became a great freelance musician in
Vienna. This is where Mozart found and started some of his success. Mozart earned his living
giving lessons to people and holding concerts. Mozart later wrote his piece Don Giovanni and
then The marriage of Figaro and these were great pieces for his time. Eventually, Mozart s
popularity disapeared and his music was found to be very complicated and hard to follow. Mozart
s music was very versatile and his masterpieces had been in many forms. His piano concertos were

Why Are We Safe In Schools Essay
3. How to Make Schools Safe
To begin with, the first thing I will do to make schools safer is to install key card locks and metal
detectors in every entrance. The reason why I want key card locks is because only faculty and
students would have special key cards that would let them into the building and people without the
key cards could not enter the building. This prevents any unauthorized personal to enter the
building and endanger the faculty and students. The reason why schools need metal sectors is to
make sure faculty or students are not carrying a dangerous weapon with them. Also, the schools
should bring in a Police Officer so the kids can be educated by a person who knows about safety
and protection. This will give students a better knowledge of gun safely. Another, idea is to have a
gun drive in the local community. The reason why we should have a gun drive so people could
trade in their guns for money. The reason why this is important is because young kids are curious
and adventures. They can find anything in the house even if the parent puts stuff in a safe place. I
guarantee kids will find items even though parents thought the area was a safe place. Kids will
find items like guns because they think it looks cool and will bring them to school to show their
friends. Then a kid will be injured or killed because they were playing with the weapon during
recess or gym. Therefore, a gun drive would eliminate guns from homes because parents can not
watch their kids

The Pros And Cons Of The BP Oil Spill
It is well known that in 2010 a oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil rig Deepwater

While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil
spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one
hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources
simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When
viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost
incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28
billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a
compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars
that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the
potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures
more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60
dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be made that all
resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the hotel is
too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort

The Medicare Modernization Act ( Mma )
Background
Since the late 1980s, Medicare has reimbursed physician services using the Medicare Physician
Fee Schedule (MPFS), which encompasses 10,000 procedure codes. Each code is assigned
resource based relative value units (RVUs), which are designed to reflect physician work,
practice expense, and malpractice expense. To adjust for local differences in cost of living, each
RVU is modified using geographic practice cost indexes (GPCIs) and then converted to dollars
using a conversion factor. This system rewards physicians who produce a high volume of services;
not surprisingly, Medicare Part B expenditures have grown rapidly.
In FY 1998, the SGR was introduced as an attempt to better manage this spending growth by taking
into account several factors, including the expansion of the overall economy. However, because this
system didn t fundamentally change the economics of the program, it did not achieve its original
objective.
With enactment of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) in 2003, Medicare began moving
toward value based payments, and the introduction of Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 meant
that Medicare accelerated its use of value based payments as a means of improving outcomes and
managing overall costs (Wofford, 2015).
The care delivery enterprise must be re tooled so that it functions in a fee for value reimbursement
environment as is has in a fee for service reimbursement environment. The Centers for Medicare

Speech On The Scottsboro Boys
The Scottsboro Boys
Have you ever heard of the Scottsboro Boys or wondered about the early Jim Crow South? Well,
the Scottsboro Boys were a group of black youths that got into a fight with white boys in a freight
car on a train going from Chattanooga, TN south to Alabama. After the white boys told officers
about the fight, the Boys were taken into custody. Then two white girls that were on the train

is one of cruelty, neglect, and lies in the Jim Crow south. This is how the story of the Scottsboro

Chattanooga, TN. The boys names were Haywood Patterson, Eugene Williams, Roy and Andy
Wright (Aretha 9). A white boy stepped on Patterson s hand and almost pushed Williams off the
train, then the trouble began (Aretha 10). After Patterson stood up for his friends and himself,
the white boys got mad and threw rocks at the black youths. The boys from Chattanooga were
joined by other black men. After the four from Chattanooga told them about what happened, the
four and about 8 others confronted the attackers. A fight broke out and some whites jumped off
the train and some were tossed off. One white boy remained, Orville Gilley, because the black
boys decided it wouldn t be safe to toss him off (Aretha 12). There were also two white girls on

economy since 1978 has captured the attention of most of the international and business

whereas, others fear that China will turn out be a very strong nation in economic terms.
According to Nicholas Lardy, huge economic problems will be confronted by China as there is a

there would be an increase in the indebted state owned enterprises. This increase in social unrest

full of shock, disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her
right arm is raised, almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for
this . In the lower left area of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is
pointed towards: broken eggs on a silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and
self harm, respectively (DAI). The motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes
she is wearing, and the iconographic items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman
who was raped. According to the didactic, Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped
by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the
rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia
told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed
herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. Interestingly, the dagger in the
painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared to have happened right after
the rape. Therefore, it makes sense

Rosalie Metaphors
The way this book is written tricks me up sometimes because it goes from talking in past tense to
the quotes being in present tense and she also refers to the readers. It was strange to read at first,
but once I got the hang of it the book was made more enjoyable because of it. Matilda seems to
be in the background the whole time. She is present, but in the background. She seems to like to
keep to herself and listened to her sister when Rosalie was around, but never makes large
impressions on Agnes. Rosalie on the other hand makes that huge impression, when she turns
back and gives Agnes that hug. I almost forgave her for messing with all those boys. It showed
to me that deep inside she does have a heart and cared about people. Then when Agnes gets that
letter from Rosalie I realized that she was always going to be a little bit of a brat. She, what I
took as, whined for Agnes to come and visit her. Then she went on to tall Agnes about her
charming child. I feel bad that her husband does not like that it was a girl, but technically it was
his fault. I feel bad for that child though. She is going to have to grow up with a brat of a motherand
probably become a brat herself because of it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It broke my heart to read it. I hate it when people die in books and movies. Then what Mr.
Murray said made it even worse because he was so blunt. He was of course correct, but still have
a little sympathy. Then my heart shattered when she got to the house and he was died. I felt so bad
for Agnes and her family. It made me want to cry. Then when they were talking about money it
made me feel horrible for them. I was proud of Agnes s mother for standing up to her father
though. That man deserved it. Nobody should turn away family just because of who they marry. I
get that it was improper and scandalous of her to marry Agnes s father, but she was your daughter

Single Subject Design
Single Subject Design Over the last twelve weeks, many students have participated in their own
Single Subject Design (SSD) contain stress levels throughout each week of the semester.
Throughout this design, the reversal design method was used throughout the fall semester. In this
study, there was many high and low scores on the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), which is
calculated as the following: zero=4, one=three, two=two, three=one, and four= zero. Many
questions were answered on a scale of never (zero) to very often (four) pertaining to how often
have you felt difficulties were piling so high that you could not overcome them, been upset
because of something that happened unexpectedly, and much more. So, also, this study was a
process to see how effective some interventions helped reduce your stressful semester. Reverse
Design During this study, the reverse design played a magnificent role with underlying the PSS
scale on another level by graphing the components and then finding the standard deviation.
According to Krysik and Finn (2013), Researchers use a reversal design to provide greater
assurance that the intervention is responsible for the observed changes in behavior (p. 96). This
study contained a baseline (A). Baseline is a series of measurements taken before an intervention is

The higher the score the less stressful the week was, and the less the score the more stressful
your week has been. This stress scale has really opened the eyes of individuals based on how just
one intervention can change the stress scale score tremendously. The Perceived Stress Scale is
very valuable when determining how stressed and individual is each week. Cohen (1994) stated,
A Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) is supposed to very effective, easy to understand, and alternatives
are easy to grasp. So, therefore, the PSS helps evaluate the stress levels of individuals per

Remember The Titans Themes
In the film remember the titans directed by Boaz Yakin is a film set in Alexandria Virginia in
1971. There are many themes portrayed. An example of one of the themes is a change in the
character towards overcoming racism and uses effects such as camera angles and symbolism.
These changes will be shown by Gerry s character in the movie. At the beginning of the movie
the first school was being merged and none of the races was happy about it. Gerry is strongly
racist this is shown by when the riot happens when a white shopkeeper kills a black teenager and
ray calls from the fence to join the protest, they follow ray until coach Yoast drives to stop them
and says Get in the truck. Gary. Alan. Ray. If you ever want to play for me again, then get in the
truck, now . Another example is when Gerry says to coach Tyrell I do not want to play with any
of them black animals . After that, one of the major turning points is when Gerry and Julius sit
down after a game Julius tells Gerry to block for the blacks and Gerry says That is the worst
attitude I have ever heard and then Julius replies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relationship grows stronger when they win a game and start saying left side strong side .
This refers to the left side of the Football field being the strong side because of the whites
blocking for the blacks. Also, when Blue and Louie call a meeting in the gym and everyone
starts to walk away Gerry and Julius tell them to turn back and stop walking out this shows they
are working as a great team. In the hospital scene when Gerry gets hit by a truck and is paralyzed
from the waist down, he only wants to see Julius, and when the nurse Alice says to Julius Only
kin s allowed in here. Gerry says Alice, are you blind? Don t you see the family resemblance? That
s my brother. This shows that Gerry now thinks of Julius as a

  • 2. Stereotypes Of The Older Generation I think that sometimes the older generation will stereotypically think that the younger generation is lazy, irresponsible, ungrateful and that they have no respect for others. The older generation may feel that the younger generation has no moral values, that they are spoiled, and that they think they know it all. The younger generation may feel that the older generation is inflexible, that they are set in their ways, and that they are technologically unskilled. I think that these commonly formed opinions about different generations can create views that divide us. I feel that each generation could learn from the other if they are open and willing to do so. The only time I can remember where I had a personal experience with a bias against me was many years ago after I had moved to southern Louisiana when I started working at a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel that this is unfortunate because the differences that we have can be truly beneficial in strengthening a company where different perspectives can help in being able to work more creatively and productively together. We should try to stop ourselves when we first meet or see someone from passing any judgment on them based on a stereotype that we may have because in actuality we don t know who they are or what their strengths, thoughts, abilities, and ethics are. I think that we need to try to recognize any stereotypes that we may personally each have and then make a conscious decision to try to stop ourselves from thinking of others in that way. I don t feel that we must agree with everyone else s beliefs or choices, but I think if we can put aside our biases and acknowledge and appreciate all of the differences that are found within our ages, skin colorings, genders, amounts of money that we have, where we are from, etc., I think that it will help us to find a common ground and then, we can learn and benefit from one ... • 3. Themes In Coming Of Age Stories Coming of age stories are a very relatable genre of literature. The underlying plot line in coming of age stories involve the main character, an adolescent, experiencing a pivotal event that changes their point of view on life (Peyette, n.d.). The event marks the adolescent s transition into adulthood. The event can often be referred to as initiation. Moreover, the negative representations of Asian Americans in film has perpetuated certain misconceptions about their culture. In Chan is Missing, however, though the characters may at first seem as black and white as the film itself, by the end, many of the characters are well developed and seem like real people. This is conveyed through the film s simplistic cinematography as well as the casts naturalistic performances. • 26. The Trial By Franz Kafka In The Trial by Franz Kafka, the protagonist K. is going through what is often thought of as one of the most dehumanizing aspects of society. Even in the United States many criticize the justice system for being dehumanizing. People are forced to wear the same thing, act the same way, and are given numbers instead of names. In The TrialKafka emphasizes the dehumanizing aspects of this process by exacerbating the bureaucratic steps that must be accomplished and adds more uncertainty and secrecy to the steps. Kafka s writing shows the lack of information that K. is given, and the symbolic dehumanization that occurs during the whipping and with K. lacking a last name. The actual steps K. must take to clear him name is always kept secret. K. is always kept ignorant of his charges, of what he must do, of what the outcome will be, or of what will happen next. As early as page 3 K. is kept in the dark. When he originally asks what he is being charged with he is told We are not authorized to tell you that, (3), he is then promised that he will be informed everything in due course, (3). K. is kept in a total state of ignorance throughout the entire novel. He is constantly introduced to new people who say that they can help him, but he is never given clear answers, he is just shown false hope. At no point does he make any real progress in his case. Many policies and legislation ensure the safety and well being of the elderly such as Mrs Smith. Legislation and policies safeguard the elderly including Mrs Smith to receive the fair treatment of care and to stop discrimination and exclusion. Discrimination and exclusion is still prevalent today and within contemporary society the ageing population is rising, discrimination and exclusion could increase if it is not appropriately tackled by contemporary society today. There are numerous theories of ageing, some theories are disengagement theory, and the activity theory and these theories have developed key concepts and the effects of ageing on individuals and contemporary society today. Discriminating against age and ageism is unfairly treating people and differently because of their age (Age UK, 2012). Age discrimination and ageism can lead to social exclusion, isolation, and loneliness throughout the elderly community. Age discrimination is illegal and detrimental to the elderly; however, any form of treatment whilst it may be different can be good. • 30. The Invention Of The Television And Internet What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art through the alteration, modification, or transformation of elements of the original. A remix is a piece of art that may have had items added, appropriated, or removed. Remix is everywhere and is nothing new in public space. People have been doing it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and other artistic art pieces. The advent of new technology and different forms of media have allowed people to remix in entirely different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas. The popularization of the television and Internet has allowed digital forms of remix, previously impossible or only attainable for a small niche of the public. Though Banksy, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men group have taken advantage of digital forms of remix through different means, the Yes Men group has remixed public space the best. Artists often put their work in the public domain or space, but what exactly is that? Public space is just that, locations accessible to the public with the most general being out on the streets, places accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination. They are visible to anyone who has the means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to everyone. During the Classical Period, the middle class had a tremendous influence on music. They wanted to hear concertos and symphonies. They wanted their children to learn great music and play instruments. The composers began writing music that was geared towards the middle class because they could make a better living if they enjoyed the music being played. • 33. Why Are We Safe In Schools Essay 3. How to Make Schools Safe To begin with, the first thing I will do to make schools safer is to install key card locks and metal detectors in every entrance. The reason why I want key card locks is because only faculty and students would have special key cards that would let them into the building and people without the key cards could not enter the building. This prevents any unauthorized personal to enter the building and endanger the faculty and students. The reason why schools need metal sectors is to make sure faculty or students are not carrying a dangerous weapon with them. Also, the schools should bring in a Police Officer so the kids can be educated by a person who knows about safety and protection. This will give students a better knowledge of gun safely. Another, idea is to have a gun drive in the local community. The reason why we should have a gun drive so people could trade in their guns for money. The reason why this is important is because young kids are curious and adventures. They can find anything in the house even if the parent puts stuff in a safe place. I guarantee kids will find items even though parents thought the area was a safe place. Kids will find items like guns because they think it looks cool and will bring them to school to show their friends. While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be made that all resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the hotel is too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort ... • 35. The Medicare Modernization Act ( Mma ) Background Since the late 1980s, Medicare has reimbursed physician services using the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), which encompasses 10,000 procedure codes. Each code is assigned resource based relative value units (RVUs), which are designed to reflect physician work, practice expense, and malpractice expense. To adjust for local differences in cost of living, each RVU is modified using geographic practice cost indexes (GPCIs) and then converted to dollars using a conversion factor. This system rewards physicians who produce a high volume of services; not surprisingly, Medicare Part B expenditures have grown rapidly. In FY 1998, the SGR was introduced as an attempt to better manage this spending growth by taking into account several factors, including the expansion of the overall economy. However, because this system didn t fundamentally change the economics of the program, it did not achieve its original objective. With enactment of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) in 2003, Medicare began moving toward value based payments, and the introduction of Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 meant that Medicare accelerated its use of value based payments as a means of improving outcomes and managing overall costs (Wofford, 2015). After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. These changes will be shown by Gerry s character in the movie. At the beginning of the movie the first school was being merged and none of the races was happy about it.
