Museums Issues With Open-Air Photographs
Even though there was still to a certain extent a paternalistic tenor in the diction of the event
organizers, the change in the roles, functions and perspectives of the participants marked forms of
appropriation that clearly went beyond the participatory initiatives, which had been expressed since
the end of the 1970s in the debate about the task and function of museums.10 In Tejgadh participation
meant to be observer and observed at the same time, with alternating perspectives and interests. For
the period of the presentation, the photographs caused in a way that is not unlike the qualitative
sociological interview process of the photo elicitation all of the viewers, regardless of their social,
professional or disciplinary background, to act and speak both about the customs and conventions of
earlier generations of the indigenous population of India, their current meaning and the specific
characteristics of everyday life today, as well as about the ways in which photography is used in the
context of scientific research and local social politics. They exposed the preconceptions and
expectations with which the local organizers as well as the European scientists had contextualized the
event in advance. Without appearing with respective stable profiles and clearly differentiated from one
another the different audiences performed themselves and in relationship to one another. A fluid,
reciprocal representation on several levels, which not least brings to the fore the social

Race for the Double Helix
What were your first impressions of the main characters?
James Watson: An American biologist man who has a research about the DNA. For me, James Watson
at first was a bit weird guy because of the way he stared and looked at people around him. He is a
mysterious guy and a bit naughty to the ladies he has seen. As one of the character said, he is the boy
wonderer . He is also a very eager to know the research and very observant.
Francis Crick: He does the same research with Watson, they are both teammates. He is also eager to
know what is in DNA and the relationship of it with the double helix.

What were your later impressions of the main characters?
James Watson: Watson has the wit and capabilities to do the research he is doing. Once he wants to do
something, he wishes and grants to finish the research heartily. He is one of the awardees of the Noble
Prize.
Francis Crick: Similar with Watson, Crick is also eager to finish the study as soon as possible. He is
also one of the awardees of the Noble Prize.
Rosalind Franklin: She wanted to do the research on her own. She studies alone and makes it well.
She also contributed to the discovering of the double helix but kept the study herself.
Maurice Wilkins: He is one of the awardees of the Noble Prize. And he also contributed his previous
researches to Watson and Crick.
Why this movie is called Race for the Double Helix ? Do you think scientific research should be a
race? Why? Why not? In my opinion on why was the movie called Race for the Double Helix ,
because at the middle of the presentation, although Franklin and Wilkins find it difficult to work
together, the possibility of their collaboration heats up the race to discovery, as Watson and Crick see
it. Watson and Crick knew that there was someone who is also doing the discovering for the Double
Helix, the American chemist Linus Pauling, whom is closing in on a solution. They tried to hurry and
do the research as fast as they can. It is also because they wanted to have an award

The Novel Candide
Candide, a story written by Voltaire, is a travel literature that takes away women s freedom. This story
talks about the concept of optimism in the characters lives. According to Margaret A. Boden a man
may make no claims, but merely (habitually) describe situations in a positive rather than a negative
way, and the question of justification may not even arise (A. Boden). Women in this story fail to
accept the principle of optimism. This is because everything in their lives is not for the best as they
think. Cunegonde and Pacquette are two main characters that show us in the story why women fail to
accept Pangloss s theory about optimism. Pangloss tries to convince the characters in the story that
everything that happens to them is for the best. Those two women show us why this cannot be true.
They simply live their lives miserably to please the men around them. Voltaire picked women in this
story to present the perspective of rape and sexual abuse. Women in the 1800s had very few choices
for advancement in life. They could either marry well or they could become the mistress of a powerful
man or both ( The Position Of Women In Voltaire S Candide ).
In chapter 8 in this travel literature we read and understand Cunegonde and Mrs. Pacquette s point of
view about refusing the principle of optimism. It is so obvious for Cunegonde to refuse it because
throughout the story the only good thing that happened to her was marrying Candide at the end of
their journey. She had

Ethnical Values In American Culture
American ethnical values are built upon the respect for the dignity of every human life, the hunger for
discovery, the ability to maintain harmony with others and nature, establishing a government built for
the people, and ran by the people. These ethnical values have been the basis for American culture
since the beginning and they continue to make an impact and grow in today s society. The Iroquois
Indians had a very open and accepting democratic society that involved everyone, including the
women which wasn t very prevalent in culture at this time. Compared to the Puritan society which
didn t have strong leadership or a healthy working government, Puritan society also looked down
upon women. The Puritans saw other people as an inconvenience, ... Show more content on

The preachers would use the persuasive technique pathos on their audience to scare them. They
wanted to diminish the emotions of this heavily church going society. They wanted to induce fear
upon them so that they would feel obligated to do what is right in the Puritans eyes. All your
righteousness, would have no more influence to uphold you and keep you out of hell, than a spider s
web would have to stop a fallen rock , this shows how no matter what the Puritans do they will never
be good enough for God and therefore are damned to hell (Edwards 120). The Puritans would exile
anybody who disagreed or was different because they didn t want that to influence their culture. This
shows that the Puritans were a shallow people, who only cared for themselves and for their own good.
Women were treated more like objects in this society because all they were used for in the Puritan
society was making babies and cooking food. On the Iroquois side of things, their culture was built
upon respect, whether this was for the earth or for people. The Iroquois considered each lord in the
tribe family, this shows how the Iroquois embraces the value of family and how they treat everyone
with equality and respect. The Iroquois thrive on peace and unity within their society. The League of
Iroquois is a nation of 6 different Native American tribes, this shows how they were an excepting
people as long as they were treated with the same respect. The Iroquois involved the women greatly in
their society. The women had equal duties to the men and they elected the 50 peace chiefs which
headed the League of Iroquois. They had a stable democratic government, which highlights how the
Iroquois treated all people equally. The Puritans had a very enclosed society that was very self
centered. They also treated women with no respect and

The Model Minority Robert G. Lee Summary
The Silent and Compliant Asians in Popular Culture
White Americans categorize Asian Americans as the model minority, and this is done to characterize
and force them to fit their ideology of an inferior being (Sameer Pandya). The Model minority
includes the stereotypes of acting as, a geek, silent, compliant, and overall a smart child (Sameer
Pandya). Asian Americans are depicted as the oriental, also known as the other who are in racial
opposition of a white American (Sameer Pandya, Robert G. Lee 2). The theoretical framework of
Robert G. Lee s Model Minority is depicted in the article the, Spelling Bee as children from an Asian
origin are forced to conform into the Americanized expectation of the Model Minority. The Model

The youtube video, Asian Doesn t Start with A+ Olivia Lai TEDx Phillips Academy Andover centers
on Olivia A, who is the epitome of a Model Minority. Rather than introducing her name, she states her
ethnicity of an Asian, Chinese to be exact (TedxPhillips Academy Andover youtube). She addresses
her ethnicity as if it was part of her introduction as if it defined her as a person (TedxPhillips Academy
Andover youtube). By addressing her ethnic background she is claiming the title of the model
minority before someone else does. She knows that based on her looks she is automatically perceived
as an Asian Model minority instead of an American girl (TedxPhillips Academy Andover youtube).
Thus, she is subjected to take on the identity of the successful Asian American student (TedxPhillips

fate for Asian children, who have, perfect grades, play an instrument, and has an MD degree
(TedxPhillips Academy Andover youtube). The common misconception in regards to Asian Americans
is the automatic assumption that they all aspire to become doctors or work in a stem related field
(TedxPhillips Academy Andover youtube). She addresses the defining component of a Model
Minority, in which she states that Asian Americans are stereotyped as the model minority. Which
means [they] are thought to achieve a higher degree of success than the average population
(TedxPhillips Academy Andover youtube). Thus, the stereotypes are no longer assimilation but an

Stereotypes, Prejudice And Discrimination
The world is filed with different cultures races and ethnicities all with different beliefs and mannerism.
Often these differences lead to conflicts of opinions and feelings and this can lead to cultures
ostracizing each other creating bad blood. These ongoing conflicts create ideas and behaviors that
stereotype, discriminate are prejudice and racist against each other. These terms are used
interchangeably and cause many misunderstanding, and although they all touch upon common ground
and can lead into each other they also have differences.
Actions are often born from ideas some views are formed from experience and influence and others
like prejudice are a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience, but rather
the beliefs, feelings, thoughts and attitudes that some hold against a group. Such on page 271 it states
how a comedy skit of a crime prone African American can later make another African American who
is accused of assault seem guiltier (Ford, 1997). Though many viewers may not have experienced or
even heard of a black person commit a crime when the media enforces views and opinions a person
can unconsciously begin to believe these stereotypes. Because a prejudice is not based on experience
and is a prejudgment it can be fostered by one s environment, children who are brought up in religious
homes may feel more inclined to think of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Miss Emily Is An Alien
Since Homer admitted his relation to men, the women of the town have sprung in curiosity for Emily s
reaction. The town has begun to say once more, Poor Emily ; although, the children say: Miss Emily
was an alien. This bizarre issue was difficult to process, and some believed the theory the children
spoke about repeatedly. Most of the town paid no mind to the children s thoughts; therefore, they
carried on gossiping. Emily slowly vanished once more; consequently, Homer disappeared, not giving
her a reason to make an appearance. In consternation, the people attentively engaged themselves in the
children s stories, even though they sounded obscure to the human mind.
The children commenced their hypothesis, however, the story was suddenly interrupted by Miss Emily
s servant, You fools! Miss Emily was no alien. Let me tell you the real story. The shock on everyone s
face brought them to the abrupt thought of intrigue. His crusty old voice shook as his figure bent in
years of labor, I first started observing her everyday behaviors as they gradually became petrifying.
Miss Emily had a great attachment to Homer. One in which, she would have done anything to have his
affection back. I would hear screams coming from across the hall as I cooked her dinner. Everyone
was in dismay of his story, but would not dare move an inch for they desired to listen. The old man
continued on his speech by saying, She planned for a wedding and I helped prepare it. We started off

Comparing The Marketing Strategy Of Two Adult Learning...
When comparing and contrasting the marketing strategy of two adult learning programs one must
consider the University of Phoenix as one of those programs. The second that of a traditional
university program with an online, adult centered add on program. Both programs require a marketing
strategy that focus on the adult learner as consumer, but the University of Phoenix simply does
marketing for adults more efficiently. This is likely due to the fact that by and large, the University of
Phoenix is primarily an online program, with its focus squarely on the adult learner. Traditional
university programs are somewhat burdened by the need to adapt an existing marketing strategy to
include adult learning, which can leave questions on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional programs offer easily navigable websites for the traditional student, one just out of high
school and seeking a dorm life experience, but should work on a strategy to include and entice those
returning to school with families and career already in place, including video testimonials, program
previews, transfer credit calculators, plain English knowledge bases, live chat, and unfiltered social
media conversations (Maslowsky, 2012). University of Phoenix accomplishes this through the
interactive website, targeted commercials in adult learner rich audience demographics, and easily
navigated web content. Adult learner programs at traditional universities target the traditional college
student, and by and large their websites have information for the adult earner tacked on to pages and
pages of information about the dorm life, meal plans, and campus life. This is a fundamental
difference that bears exploration, and likely frustrates potential students and sends them to a system
which, like University of Phoenix, offers a more tailored approach for the busy adult learner who
wishes to study from home.
As regards web content, the sites for any program should be easily located by prospective students.
The path to a full enrollment begins with content that is optimized for ease of location by potential
students. A professional web content manager, who works to put the program at the top

No matter how big or small, we as human beings metamorphose in order to survive, both physically
and mentally. This was an important part of President Obama s last State of the Union address, in
which he said, No matter what obstacles our country faces, we, as Americans, must always pave our
way to greatness together. And he s right, as Americans always have. Through the many hardships we
have experienced as a nation, the American people have had to bring forth strength and talents like
never before in order to keep our nation afloat. Adversity does not only expose qualities of
individuals, but also groups of people as a whole. This has also been seen within many civil rights
movements, such as the initial movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In regards to his
movement, Dr. King once said, We have been beaten, lynched, raped, jailed, and murdered, but do you
see us retreating? No... We are stronger than we may have led you to believe. Dr. King and the African
American Civil Rights Movement were literally almost beaten into submission by the white man in
America, but they used the strength they gained from the rage and sadness they felt in order to keep
on. Hardship within movements is especially powerful because it shows the combined strength of
those who went through the same exact persecution or discrimination. Even when these people could
not bring change by themselves, together they were more powerful than any imagined god. This is
what adversity brings forth in people, especially in

Difference Between Print Books And E Books
Introduction
Reading books is one of the things that have a major impact on people s life. As the time is passing,
technology is reaching new heights and one of the popular gift that technology has given to world in
recent past is E Books. E books is basically the digital face of printed books. Now the whole debate of
printed books vs e books has heated up and some of us have our own respective views. In this report,
we are going to discuss about the how in this fast paced world of technology print books are still
edging over the e books and attracting the majority of masses towards them including students. We
will also be highlighting the factors which are responsible in making printed books the first choice for
students.

In student learning both printed books and e books are included because there are different type of
students, some have more emotional connect with the traditional books while others learn better with e
books.
In this report, we are further going to discuss about the main part in which we will look at the ways
that gives the more edge to printed books in comparison to e books for student learning. According to
a new study, 92% of college students would rather do their reading the old fashioned way, with pages
and not pixels. The finding comes from American University linguistics professor Naomi S. Baron,
author of the book Words Onscreen: The Fate of Reading in a Digital World. Baron led a team that
asked 300 college students in the United States, Slovakia, Japan and Germany how they preferred to
read. Physical books were the choice of 92% of the respondents, who selected paper over an array of
electronic devices . (Schaub, 2016)
Steven Hernandez, a student at Arizona State University is among those who prefer reading the real
McCoy over files on a gadget. I believe that the possibility and likelihood of distraction is too high
when it comes to online learning tools like textbooks, he wrote in an op ed for his student newspaper.
The upside to e books is the low price and the user interaction that it enables, but it requires
integration and education of the technology being used integration that students like myself are not
accustomed to .

Gilgamesh Death Theme
Phillip Fok
IH 851 173
October 19, 2016
Final Draft
What is Death? What does it mean to die? Is death just as simple as dying? These questions are
brought up in The Epic of Gilgamesh and are a part of a theme in the epic. The story goes that after
Enkidu s death, Gilgamesh s dear friend; Gilgamesh goes and searches for Utanapishtim to find the
secret to immortality. When Gilgamesh does find Utanapishtim, and ask for the secret, Utanapishtim
responds with No one can see death [...] yet there is a savage death that snaps off mankind (42). Death
is something that only exists in man, but not gods. In a literal sense it is immortality, in a figurative
way it is change. Gods never change; they represent a greater unchanging belief and because ... Show

In a way when a character changes, his or her old self dies . For example, when Enkidu was first born
he lived his entire life in the forest with the animals, but when he met Shamat he was changed. In this
case his old self had died and thus this Enkidu that once lived in the wilderness with the animals no
longer existed. The death of Gilgamesh s old character is when he becomes the kind and good king at
the end of the epic. At first when we meet Gilgamesh we see that he is a ruthless king that does
whatever he wants, like sacrificing warriors, taking what he wants, and sleeping with the wives of
nobles. Throughout the epic he goes through several deaths like when Enkidu died, Gilgamesh had
grown hair over his body, and wore the skin of a lion and started to roam the wilderness (32), in this
case the once prideful and handsome, Gilgamesh that we met in the beginning of the epic, had died
along with Enkidu. Another death is during his adventure is when he encountered the scorpion beings.
The once boastful and powerful Gilgamesh cowered in fear when he first met them

The HPL checking student understanding during and at the conclusion of the lesson was a bit more

pieces that I had incorporated into my lesson. Before reading the book, I was going to have students

they didn t know how to describe what a problem in the story is. I still asked students to explain what
a problem was, but I did not do the quick formative assessment that I just described. Another time
when assessing my students learning was challenging was when I gave the summative assessment for

The Journey For The Cure Literary Analysis
Dear Tidal Wave Publishing Incorporated:
Greetings to Tidal Wave Publishing! I am a 7th grade student at Old Donation School. I would like to
submit my original fable based on traditional Irish fables and myths, titled The Journey for the Cure,
to be inserted in your upcoming anthology. This story is about a man, Jack Kelly, who makes a
journey to save his wife from a curse. On his journey, he meets a leprechaun who throws him off and
he has to race to save his wife in time. My work reveals common Irish traditions, archetypes, and
morals that are relevant with youth.
The purpose of storytelling in Irish culture was to pass along morals in an entertaining way, in order to
impact the lives of the reader. From the traditional Irish literary works I have read, they all have
morals that are about being loyal, and not being naive or selfish when encountering other people. For
example, in the Irish fable, The Field of Boliauns, the protagonist, Tom Fitzpatrick, is very greedy and
selfish when he encounters a leprechaun. In the end, Tom ends up without any gold, because of his
selfishness and how naive he was. In my story, The Journey for the Cure, the reader is taught that
being naive and selfish can affect you negatively in life. When the protagonist, Jack Kelly, wants the
leprechaun s gold, the leprechaun tricks him and he almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the Irish myth, The Voyage of Bran, Bran, the main character, disobeys the wishes of the Chief of
the Isles of the Women and returns back to Ireland, finding that he is cursed and cannot step foot onto
Irish soil. This Traditional literature also reveals that the Irish people are very close to their customs
like believing in leprechauns or using Ireland s primary crop, potatoes, often in their meals. For
example in my story, a leprechaun is a minor character, which is an important archetypal mythological

Differences Between Hamlet And The Lion King
Fairy tales have helped children deal with things they fear. Now a days, the fairy tales children are
aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney has
taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment industry.
Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went through
retellings and alternation; for example Hamlet and The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently neglected
these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King, Disney s most
watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only movie which is
previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The Lion King may not be
based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by William Shakespeare called
Hamlet . Disney creative writers adroitly disguise the basic character ... Show more content on

The Eight Stages Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development
Abstract
This paper studies the eight stages of Erik Erikson s psychosocial development and the impact is has
had on how the people view the personality development during infancy to late adulthood. These
stages are split up into specific age groups and show how the developments occur. There are
difficulties presented within the groups that the child, teenager, and adult go through and experience
within their lives. These are positive and negative experiences that ultimately decide the outcome of
each person. Each person has a different life experience so these stages help to show how a person
grows into their personality as they age in life. These experiences show that they can define who a
person is and they are crucial.
Erikson s Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development
Erik Erikson s eight stages of psychosocial development have made a major impact on how people
view where and how a personality develops within a person. The many stages go in order from
infancy to late adulthood. The stages have some sort of difficulty that each person goes through while
one being a positive outcome and one being a negative outcome. According to McLeod, Erikson s
ideas were greatly influenced by Freud and his theory regarding the structure and topography of
personality. (McLeod, 1970) According to the textbook, the first stage is the Oral Sensory stage. This
stage goes from birth to one year of life. It studies basic trust versus mistrust. In this stage, the mother

Case Study 2 1. Do some Internet research on Chevron s use of seismic imaging technology. Briefly
explain how it works and how it has helped Chevron discover new oil and gas reservoirs?
Seismic imaging technology: Seismic imaging is a tool that bounces sound waves off underground
rock structures to reveal possible crude oil and natural gas bearing formations. Ultrasensitive devices
named as geophones are used by the seismologists to record the sound waves as they echo inside the
earth. After brief research on the echoes, geologists start calculating the depth and structures of buried
geologic formations. This kind of analysis may help them identify oil and gas bearing reservoirs
which are hiding underneath the earth s surface. Most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gospel Of Luke Essay
The Gospel of Luke has many important literary themes. One of the most significant being the
equality of women and femininity. Women were prominent in Luke s portrayal of Jesus life. Luke was
one of two Gospels, out of the four, to include Jesus birth. He embraced the role of women and
included many focuses of them in his writing. Women were exemplified as good examples, witnesses
to the resurrection of Jesus, and were healed by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Luke s introduction of
the Gospel started with an angel visiting a priest named Zechariah and informing him that his old
barren wife will give birth to a son named John. Around the same time the angel Gabriel visited the
virgin Mary in Nazareth and told her that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Luke 8, he began mentioning that the twelve disciples were with Jesus traveling between cities, as
well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities... (Lk 8:02). This is yet again
another example where a group of women is not only mentioned, but specified in such a way that
deems them equal to their counter parts. In Luke 10:38, Jesus told Martha, a woman upon visiting, that
she should be listening to him instead of being distracted with her work. He also taught Mary several
things, whom was the sister of Martha. During that time period women were not allowed to be
educated and were confined in their homes. Luke portrays Jesus as a man who valued women and
their faith to him. In a century where women were minimized, Luke didn t fail to mention the women
followers and what Jesus told them. Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for
yourselves and children. For the days are surely coming when they will say, Blessed are the barren,
and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed (Lk 23:28 30). Here Jesus
understands the importance of bearing children and how in doing so women play a significant role in
the ministry of Jesus. He warns the daughters of a day and age when failure to do these things will be

Illusion vs Reality in “Good Country People” Essay
One of Flannery O Connor s most successful stories, Good Country People was published in 1955.
Good Country People addresses the of good versus evil, the foolishness of intellectual pretensions,
and most importantly the theme of reality versus illusion. An important character Mrs. Hopewell s
daughter Hulga, born as Joy has a Ph. D but seems to have no common sense. She allows her self to
be tricked by a Bible salesman and gets her self in to a binding situation. Good Country people deals
with illusion vs. reality this is shown when the author discusses Manley Pointer; the bible sales man,
Joy thinking she is ugly, and the fact the Hulga and her mother tend to disagree about Hulga s life
decisions. Manley Pointer arrived one day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hulga closes her heart just as she rejects her body. This deals with the concept of illusion vs. reality
because, Hulga feels that she is ugly therefore she changes her name to fit the way she feels about
herself. Finally the last example of illusion vs. reality is the constant disagreeance between Hulga and
her mother. Hulga s mother, Mrs. Hopewell, convinced that Hulga would have been better without a
useless PhD. degree in philosophy , has no comprehension of the one true meaning of life to her
daughter. Mrs. Hopewell feels that she can not brag on Hulga because, she sees her daughter as
unsuccessful in life due to the meaninglessness of her degree. She is also upset with the fact that
Hulga, formally known as Joy changes her name to better fit her personality. She feels that joy is a
beautiful name and that Hulga is opposite from her view of herself. In final analysis the glass eye
relates to the overall theme of the story illusion vs. reality because, the characters in the story see their
situations differently than how they truly are. The main character joy has no common sense and
struggles to find her own identity. Another important aspect of illusion vs. reality is the bible salesman
who is truly a con artist and get Hulga into a bind. Hulga s mothers opinion of her is also seen to be an
illusion to what it really is. Good Country people deals with the theme illusion vs. reality when the
author discusses the bible salesman, the fact

the study is change in sexual behavior over the course of the study. The PrEP treatment will be given
both of the comparison groups and will remain constant throughout the study. The purpose of the
study is to measure any change in the two comparison groups between each period gap and overall at
the end of the study. At each interval, the participants will go through a mixed methods research
analysis of the change in their sexual behavior. They will complete a Semantic Differential scale and
an interview with a researcher. During this process both quantitative and qualitative data will be
collected; quantitative data from the scale that will be used to measure their sexual behavior and
qualitative data from the interviews. The primary outcome measure will be the responses to the survey
at each interval; if the participants either continued their original sexual behavior or if they have
changed their sexual behavior to high risk or low risk. The survey responses will be used to calculate
the change in behavior, and to determine if the change that occurs is statistically significant or not. The
secondary outcome measure will compare the change in sexual behaviors with the covariances

Difference Between Monopolistic Competition And Oligopoly
The determination of prices of commodities depends upon the type of market structure in which they
are produced. There are various markets prevailing in an economy like (a) perfect competition,
(b)Monopoly,(c) Monopolistic Competition, and (d) Oligopoly. Monopoly, monopolistic competition
and oligopoly are generally grouped under imperfect competition, since these three markets differ in
respect to the degree of imperfections in the market.
Before explaining all these markets in detail, it will be quite important to understand the meaning of
the term market in economics.
1.2 Meaning of Market
Market in general means a particular place or locality where goods are sold and purchased. However,
in economics, by the term market we do not mean any particular place or locality in which goods are

Large number of buyers and sellers: The first important feature of monopolistic competition is that
under it there are relatively large numbers of buyers each satisfying a small share of the market
demand for product. The number of buyers in monopolistic competition is also large. Because there is
large number of firms under monopolistic competition, there exists stiff competition between them.
2. Product Differentiation: The second important feature of Monopolistic Competition is that products
produced by various firms are differentiated. This means that the products of various firms under
monopolistic competition are not same but similar. Therefore there prices cannot be very much
different. Because of similar products and close substitutes the firms under monopolistic competition
compete with each other.
3. Selling Costs: In monopolistic competition the products are close substitutes of one another, In

American Dream And The American Dream
Americans have long held an idea of success that has been defined by upward movement in finance
and family. This idea of success has been called the American Dream. The Dream started when
colonists in the 1700s came to America to find their own idea of success. Today, the American Dream
can be recognized as upward social mobility and strong relationships. Passion, privilege, and hope are
factors that affect an individual s money and relationships which are integral parts of achieving the
American Dream.
Money is needed for general well being, to provide for food, clothes, and shelter. Without basic
necessities, the need for emotional fulfillment is of lesser importance until the necessities are found.
When a person has their basic needs met, they can shift their focus from survival to living life as an
individual. Passion drives people to their goals and for many, money is a way to achieve their passion.
The eponymous character in The Great Gatsby had his passion and his goal, which was to marry
Daisy and amassing wealth was the best way he knew how to achieve that goal. He especially tries to
prove he has money to Daisy when he is showing her all of his expensive shirts (Fitzgerald 49).
Gatsby s goal was heavily dependent on Daisy s approval of him. He knew she would never marry
him if he was poor so money became his primary focus. Once he had the money, he needed the
relationship to achieve what he perceived as his dream, meaning Daisy would have had to leave Tom

Joseph Frankl s Man s Search For Meaning

Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps throughout his memoir, Man s Search for Meaning.
Frankl describes his life in captivity during the holocaust and how he overcame grotesque and
egregious circumstances by surviving through spiritual composure. Frankl s theory logotherapy, is the
certitude that humans are compelled to seek meaning in one s life over the drive for pleasure. His
theory has contributed greatly to the study of leadership and influenced the lives of individuals by
aiding them in the search for meaning and purpose. Last of The Human Freedoms Frankl describes the
last of the human freedoms as the choice of one s attitude in any situation or circumstance along with
the freedom to select one s path from then forward. His view embodies the idea that no matter the
hardships one encounters, it is always possible to overcome and prosper based solely on one s
perspective. I agree with Frankl s view of the last of the human freedoms particularly due to his
concept regarding suffering. Suffering is regretfully inevitable, however we may choose how to
survive it, seek significance in it, and eventually overcome it. Frankl states, Everything can be taken
from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms to choose one s attitude in any given set of
circumstances, to choose one s own way (Frankl, p. 66). The Ultimate Human Goal The ultimate

In the previous two chapters, some theories of stress and burnout, pastoral ministry, and especially the
context of African American churches and pastors were discussed. With this background of the
research literature, this chapter will discuss the experiential research used in this study with selected
African American pastors. It will also analyze burnout of pastors in Northeast Florida African
American by analyzing the results of the survey and burnout focus group.
Description of Sample and Procedure

The Process of Adolescent Development Essay
Introduction
Adolescence is a transition which has no fixed time limits. However, the changes that occur at this
time are so significant that it is useful to talk about adolescence as a distinct period of human life
cycle. This period ranges from biological changes to changes in behavior and social status, thus
making it difficult to specify its limits exactly (Damon, 2008). Adolescence begins with puberty, i.e. a
series of physiological changes that lead to full development of the sexual organs and the ability to
breed and sex. The time interval that elapses begins at 11 to 12 years and extends to 18 to 20.
However we cannot associate to a 13 with one 18 years. Let us talk about early adolescence between
11 to 14 years, which coincides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is hypothesized that the overgrowth of synapses prepares young children to adapt to their
environments. Once it is determined which synapses are used and which are unnecessary, the excess
connections disappear, allowing the brain to work more efficiently. A process known as myelination
also begins early in a child s development. In this process an insulating layer of fat covers nerve cells.
The insulating layer increases the speed at which neurochemical information moves along the axon,
facilitating more rapid and efficient information processing
At the earliest ages, those nerves that involve sensory development become myelinated, followed by
those neurons responsible for motor development. The final area of the brain in which myelination
occurs is in the cortex with the neurons associated with complex thinking skills. This pattern of brain
growth continues through late adolescence (Swanson, 2010). Attention span has also been linked to
myelination. Therefore, children s ability to concentrate and attend to novel stimuli increases with age
and brain development. Because of these important development differences, the school based
practitioner needs to be aware that younger children may need shorter sessions and more think time to
respond than an adolescent.
As noted, children also experience relatively rapid growth in their bodies. By the time a girl reaches
12, she will likely have entered a period of rapid physical development, including the onset

The Pros And Cons Of Personal Privacy
In this paper I will analyze the interpretations of privacy and personal liberty employed by the rulings
of United States Supreme Court cases such as Griswold v. Connecticut, Roe v. Wade, and Planned
Parenthood v. Casey, and propose a notion of privacy and personal liberty that strikes an ideal balance
between individual autonomy and the interest of the state. In Griswold v. Connecticut, the leadership
of Planned Parenthood were convicted of violating a Connecticut statute which prohibited the use of
any drug or article to prevent conception because they provided information on contraception and
prescribed a contraceptive device for use by the wife of a married couple. The United States Supreme
Court ruled that the Connecticut statute was unconstitutional.1 The court reasoned that the relatively
vague nature of several constitutional amendments left room for the implicit establishment of a
broader range of rights and protections than those which are more explicitly mentioned in the text of
each amendment. Several justices drew from a number of different amendments to support their final
ruling including the self incrimination clause of the fifth amendment, the ninth amendment, and the
due process clause of the fourteenth amendment. The key effect of this ruling was that the Supreme
Court established an explicit reference to an individual s constitutional right to privacy and it
functionally pitted that right against the interest of the state. In this case, the Supreme Court

The lender is also concerned with the strength of the particular market where a prospective borrower
is located when underwriting a loan. Markets with declining economic health can lead to a situation
where the borrower is no longer capable of paying the monthly mortgage payment. Under this
scenario, a lender will likely acquire the property through foreclosure and subsequently sell it for an
amount that is hopefully equal to the outstanding loan balance. Should the sale price be less than the
outstanding loan balance due to weakening market fundamentals, the lender again suffers a loss.
The scenarios presented above suggest that commercial lending institutions have a need for GIS as a
risk management tool during the underwriting process as well as after a loan has been originated. An
analysis of ESRI and MapInfo GIS risk management products was conducted as these two vendors

In Cold Blood Rhetorical Devices
Truman Capote s In Cold Blood is a masterfully crafted book, often acclaimed for it s unique style.
Accordingly, readers mustn t look very far before they find a plethora of rhetoric. Capote is often
credited with having created the original crime novel, and he didn t get this distinction by writing like
everyone else. He used his interesting writing style to make his readers feel as though they were
actually in the book, but not just as an onlooker. He allowed them to get inside the character s heads
and really know them, glimpsing flash backs into the character s pasts, while also foreshadowing
events to come. He wrote with a very intricate style, but also one that ended up being incredibly
effective.

something wrong with Perry. Capote hid his foreshadowing very well, so that it is often only found
once the event it foreshadowed had passed. However, this isn t to say that it was ineffective. His
foreshadowing served it s exact purpose, as readers who would notice the subtle hints would be drawn

through her mind. What am I going to tell my parents and boyfriend? How is this going to affect me?
How will my friends and family react? What about my education and future? How did this happen to
me? What could I have done to prevent this? Most teenagers have sex without being protected.
Whether they re embarrassed or afraid of being seen, it results in a lot of teenage pregnancies.
However, there is a way teenage girls can get the needed protection without being seen or
embarrassed. High schools should provide condoms, birth control, sex education classes, and
individual counseling to students who ask for them, thus giving private access to the students who
need it. The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) states: birth control is a term that
includes all methods used to regulate or prevent the birth of children. For thousands of years, birth
control received little public attention. Death rates were extremely high in infancy and children.
Overpopulation is what spurred an interest in birth control. Condoms are used to prevent sexually
transmitted diseases. Condoms also had very little public attention until the amount of sexually
transmitted diseases in the United States increased by eighty percent from the year 1987 to the late
1990 s (Legislatures, 2015). The world was becoming a bigger place and many children were being

Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte
... what mystery, that broke out, now in fire and now in blood, at the deadest hours of the night? What
creature was it, that masked an ordinary woman s face and shape, uttered the voice, now of a mocking
demon, and anon of a carrion seeking bird of prey? (Brontë 221). A brief synopsis of Charlotte Brontë
s novel, Jane Eyre, is present in this short quote, which describes the mystery that is present within the
novel. As well as its gothic sensation, romance is present as well, giving the novel its feminine
characteristics. Foreshadowing is a main aspect which helps prolong the suspense in the novel. The
element of foreshadowing helps the reader foresee the upcoming events in the novel. These gothic
elements create a mysterious plot within the novel, which escalates during the climax. Novels in the
Gothic Romance genre include many mysterious events, as well as a twisted love story. Jane Eyre is
classified as a Gothic Romance due to its gloomy setting, elements of mystery and suspense, and
supernatural components.
In like manner, Jane Eyre contained a gloomy setting that follows throughout the novel. The first main
indication of Jane Eyre being a Gothic Romance was when Jane was living at Gateshead Hall. When
Jane was sent to the red room, imagery was presented which links the room to the idea of death. . . .. it
was in this chamber he breathed his last; . . . and, since that day, a sense of dreary consecration had
guarded it from frequent intrusion (Brontë 8). Having a

Research Paper On Thermodynamics
Chemical thermodynamics is the investigation of the exchange of heat and work with chemical
reactions or with physical changes of state inside the bounds of the laws of thermodynamics. It
involves not only laboratory measurements of different thermodynamic properties, but also the
utilization of mathematical strategies to the investigation of chemical questions and the spontaneity of
processes. The structure of chemical thermodynamics depends on the initial two laws of
thermodynamics.
Beginning from the first and second laws of thermodynamics major conditions of Gibbs can be
determined which thus can be used to anticipate the thermodynamic properties of the systems using
relatively simple mathematics. In the beginning of 20th century, two noteworthy publications, (i)
Thermodynamics and the Free Energy of Chemical substances by Gilbert N. Lewis and Merle Randall
and (ii) Modern Thermodynamics by the methods of Willard Gibbs written by E. A. Guggenheim
effectively applied the principles developed by Gibbs to chemical processes, and thus established the
exploration of the science of chemical thermodynamics. The essential goal of chemical
thermodynamics is the establishment of a paradigm for the assurance of the feasibility or spontaneity
of a given transformation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is appropriate to recall that the considerable honor of thermodynamics is its expansive scope of
applicability. As biotechnology extent the world, researchers are reporting data and explaining how
chemical thermodynamics can be utilized to processes for new biochemical

Broken Spears Summary
The book, Broken Spears was an interesting reading that talked about the Spanish conquest of
Tenochtitlan. Throughout the book, it becomes clear that the Spanish were successful in their conquest
as a result of a number of factors. The Spanish were intimidating in appearance and in their weaponry.
They had animals that the Aztecs had never seen before. They also formed alliances with rival tribes,
like the Tlaxcaltecas tribe. Finally, one of the key reasons that the Spaniards were able to successfully
conquer the Aztecs was due to the fact that Motecuhzoma himself, believed that Cortes and his men
were gods. In regards appearance, the Spanish were essentially covered from head to toe in iron armor.
Even the weapons they carried were covered in iron. The Aztecs were unaccustomed to the iron clad
individuals. In regards to weaponry, the Spanish were, even more, intimidating in the fact that they
had cannons. The Aztecs describe the cannon to Motecuhzoma, a thing like a ball of stone comes out
of its entrails: it comes shooting sparks and raining fire...smoke that comes out of it has a pestilent
odor. The odor penetrates even the brain and causes great discomfort ( 30). For me personally, the only
reason I can think of for Cortes to fire off a cannon was to show dominance over the Indians. For
people who had never even heard of a cannon before, it is understandable that the Native Americans
were fearful of Cortes and his men. Along with the iron clad armor and weapons the

Steel Garage Door Research Paper
Why The Common Steel Garage Door Is A Good Choice For Your Home
Steel garage doors have long been a popular choice for homeowners, and it s easy to see why.
Although you can choose a door made from wood, vinyl, or fiberglass, steel is often the best way to
go. Here are some reasons steel is a good choice when shopping for a new garage door.
Steel Doors Match The Neighborhood
If you re the type of person who likes to blend in, then steel is a good choice because chances are most
of your neighbors have steel doors too. Steel doors not only go well in any neighborhood, they also
match any type of home and style of architecture. Many people opt for plain white doors, but if you
want to match your home s paint colors, you can buy steel doors ... Show more content on

The least expensive doors consist of a single sheet of steel. The steel is strong enough to keep out
intruders, but it doesn t insulate your garage very well. More expensive doors have double or triple
layers to them with insulation filling the space between. That makes them very energy efficient, which
is helpful if you want to use the garage as a workshop or exercise room.
Modern Steel Doors Resist Rust
Steel is known for rusting, but steel garage doors don t usually succumb to this problem. For one
thing, the color is factory finished so it acts as a protective coating. If you scratch the paint off, you ll
want to repair it so the bare metal doesn t begin to rust. As long as the door is cared for and the paint is
intact, it should last for years without developing rust that causes squeaky operations or eyesores.
Steel Doors Offer Excellent Security
There s a reason steel is used for residential entry doors and commercial security doors. It s strong and
an excellent barrier against intruders. When you have a steel door protecting your garage, you can
store tools and other belongings in there without worrying about theft. However, a door is only as
strong as the lock, so if security is a concern, be sure to have a good lock and that the side door and
windows are secure

The Importance Of Technology
Technology: A Backstabbing Companion.
Innovations have given us tools to become better and more efficient, but they have also brought an era
of mental decay and insecurity. How can something so important to our development be the cause of
misery and confrontation between individuals. Technology has decreased our ability to communicate
properly with others, this is due to our inability to differentiate online interactions from real life
occurrences. It is important for all of us living in this revolutionary world to asses our relationship
with technology.
The effects of social media and the constant interaction with technology makes us vulnerable to
distractions that can cause us to lose focus and by consequence deliver poor quality work. The
constant pressure that comes from notifications and messages is detrimental for our mental health. The
best example of this affects our bodies is shown when our bodies start to produce chemicals such as
dopamine and get adrenaline pumping, these two processes make our body stop all ongoing functions,
looses concentration and struggles to regain the level of concentration it was on for a considerable
amount of time. (Take Back Your Life.)
The changes technology has brought are most likely far superior to what older historians and scientists
would have imagined, technology has created a concept that in hindsight could have been frowned
upon in past centuries. It has given humans the ability to replace common and key activities with

Structural Inequality Of The New Zealand
Introduction:
The presence of child poverty in New Zealand has been a long standing issue since before the 1990 s
and continues to be prevalent in today s New Zealand. Although child poverty can be linked to
multiple causes, there is one major cause that is not widely discussed enough within the political
world of New Zealand. This is the issue of structural inequality creating an unjust welfare system
which perpetuates stereotypes and damages the support that beneficiaries are provided by our
government. This, in turn, causes a stressful living situation for benefit dependent families, and creates
an environment that is more susceptible to child poverty. With sufficient evidence, I will explain how
structural inequality is linked to child poverty, and show what our government s response has been to
both of these issues.
Structural Inequality in Modern Day New Zealand:
New Zealand is seen as a pure, untarnished country from a distant perspective but, there are a huge
number of families in New Zealand that are struggling to get by with barely any help from the
government. This is the outcome of many decades of structural inequality that has impacted
generations of children that turn to the same life as their parents, creating a cycle of poverty. Structural
inequality can be loosely described as denot[ing] methodical and often subtle processes through which
social structures disadvantage and harm certain groups of people (Hodgetts,2014). The under class

Eating Animal Eating Animals
Today, most American people will enjoy a meal that will be complete with an animal protein; most
commonly, chicken. The American people will consume an average of around 9 billion chickens
yearly. ( Poultry Facts ) Of those chickens, nearly 70% are raised in filthy, industrial style warehouses,
having never even seen the sun. ( Broiler Chicken Industry Key Facts 2016 ) These warehouses, or
broiler sheds, pack the chickens tightly together, so much so that they must walk on top of one another
to move around. The chickens are overfed extensively and treated with high amounts of antibiotics
and growth hormones. After only being alive for less than 50 days, the chickens are snatched up and
packed into the back of trucks. Soon the chickens arrive for slaughter and are quickly hung upside
down, stunned, and cut in to pieces. ( The Life of: Broiler Chickens ) I understand that eating animals
is natural for people, excluding vegans and vegetarians; I also eat animals, but I do not understand
why the animals we eat must suffer. Also, due to the unsanitary conditions of the sheds, those who
tirelessly work to keep the flocks alive are likely to suffer from chronic bronchitis, are subjected to
dangerous amounts of E. coli bacteria, and are at a higher risk of contracting a strain of avian viruses,
all just to earn minuscule wages with almost no insurance. (Monbiot George) Additionally, due to the
change in the National Poultry Inspection System s policy, instead of trained professional

Civil War And A Revolution
According to the UN, the death toll in Syria almost reached two hundred thousand over the last three
and a half years, and the number of displaced Syrians reached 9.5 million. Because of the complexity
of the situation, a lot of people don t even know exactly what is happening over there. The first thing
that might pop into one s mind is that a civil war is going on there. On the other hand, others argue
that it is a revolution against oppression that has been brutally responded to. Evaluating the situation
in Syria requires solid understanding of specific terms of a civil war and a revolution. Also, is there a
general consensus on what a civil war or a revolution is? Can the situation in Syria simply be
classified into one of these two?
The first important thing to know is that there is no single definition of a civil war that historians or
political scientists have agreed upon. However, a commonly used definition to judge a situation is that
of the correlate of war project, which explains a civil war as a sustained military combat, primarily
internal, resulting in at least 1,000 battle deaths per year, in which government forces are in conflict
with a revolting force capable of effective resistance, determined by the latter s ability to inflict upon
the government forces at least 5% of the fatalities that the insurgents sustain. Under this classification,
there have been 53 civil wars from 1946 to 1992 (Civil War in the Post Colonial World 1946 92).

Museums Issues With Open-Air Photographs Even though there was still to a certain extent a paternalistic tenor in the diction of the event organizers, the change in the roles, functions and perspectives of the participants marked forms of appropriation that clearly went beyond the participatory initiatives, which had been expressed since the end of the 1970s in the debate about the task and function of museums.10 In Tejgadh participation meant to be observer and observed at the same time, with alternating perspectives and interests. For the period of the presentation, the photographs caused in a way that is not unlike the qualitative sociological interview process of the photo elicitation all of the viewers, regardless of their social, professional or disciplinary background, to act and speak both about the customs and conventions of earlier generations of the indigenous population of India, their current meaning and the specific characteristics of everyday life today, as well as about the ways in which photography is used in the context of scientific research and local social politics. They exposed the preconceptions and expectations with which the local organizers as well as the European scientists had contextualized the event in advance. He is a mysterious guy and a bit naughty to the ladies he has seen. As one of the character said, he is the boy wonderer . He is also a very eager to know the research and very observant. Rosalind Franklin: She wanted to do the research on her own. She studies alone and makes it well. She also contributed to the discovering of the double helix but kept the study herself. Maurice Wilkins: He is one of the awardees of the Noble Prize. And he also contributed his previous researches to Watson and Crick. Why this movie is called Race for the Double Helix ? Do you think scientific research should be a race? Why? Why not? In my opinion on why was the movie called Race for the Double Helix , because at the middle of the presentation, although Franklin and Wilkins find it difficult to work together, the possibility of their collaboration heats up the race to discovery, as Watson and Crick see it. Watson and Crick knew that there was someone who is also doing the discovering for the Double Helix, the American chemist Linus Pauling, whom is closing in on a solution. They tried to hurry and do the research as fast as they can. It is also because they wanted to have an award ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Novel Candide Candide, a story written by Voltaire, is a travel literature that takes away women s freedom. This story talks about the concept of optimism in the characters lives. According to Margaret A. Boden a man may make no claims, but merely (habitually) describe situations in a positive rather than a negative way, and the question of justification may not even arise (A. Boden). Women in this story fail to accept the principle of optimism. This is because everything in their lives is not for the best as they think. Cunegonde and Pacquette are two main characters that show us in the story why women fail to accept Pangloss s theory about optimism. Pangloss tries to convince the characters in the story that everything that happens to them is for the best. Those two women show us why this cannot be true. They simply live their lives miserably to please the men around them. Voltaire picked women in this story to present the perspective of rape and sexual abuse. Women in the 1800s had very few choices for advancement in life. They could either marry well or they could become the mistress of a powerful man or both ( The Position Of Women In Voltaire S Candide ). In chapter 8 in this travel literature we read and understand Cunegonde and Mrs. Pacquette s point of view about refusing the principle of optimism. It is so obvious for Cunegonde to refuse it because throughout the story the only good thing that happened to her was marrying Candide at the end of their journey. She had ... • 7. Ethnical Values In American Culture American ethnical values are built upon the respect for the dignity of every human life, the hunger for discovery, the ability to maintain harmony with others and nature, establishing a government built for the people, and ran by the people. These ethnical values have been the basis for American culture since the beginning and they continue to make an impact and grow in today s society. The Iroquois Indians had a very open and accepting democratic society that involved everyone, including the women which wasn t very prevalent in culture at this time. Compared to the Puritan society which didn t have strong leadership or a healthy working government, Puritan society also looked down upon women. The Puritans would exile anybody who disagreed or was different because they didn t want that to influence their culture. This shows that the Puritans were a shallow people, who only cared for themselves and for their own good. Women were treated more like objects in this society because all they were used for in the Puritan society was making babies and cooking food. On the Iroquois side of things, their culture was built upon respect, whether this was for the earth or for people. The Iroquois considered each lord in the tribe family, this shows how the Iroquois embraces the value of family and how they treat everyone with equality and respect. The Iroquois thrive on peace and unity within their society. The League of Iroquois is a nation of 6 different Native American tribes, this shows how they were an excepting people as long as they were treated with the same respect. The Iroquois involved the women greatly in their society. The women had equal duties to the men and they elected the 50 peace chiefs which headed the League of Iroquois. They had a stable democratic government, which highlights how the Iroquois treated all people equally. The Puritans had a very enclosed society that was very self centered. Often these differences lead to conflicts of opinions and feelings and this can lead to cultures ostracizing each other creating bad blood. These ongoing conflicts create ideas and behaviors that stereotype, discriminate are prejudice and racist against each other. These terms are used interchangeably and cause many misunderstanding, and although they all touch upon common ground and can lead into each other they also have differences. Actions are often born from ideas some views are formed from experience and influence and others like prejudice are a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience, but rather the beliefs, feelings, thoughts and attitudes that some hold against a group. The second that of a traditional university program with an online, adult centered add on program. Both programs require a marketing strategy that focus on the adult learner as consumer, but the University of Phoenix simply does marketing for adults more efficiently. • 15. Gilgamesh Death Theme Phillip Fok IH 851 173 October 19, 2016 Final Draft What is Death? What does it mean to die? Is death just as simple as dying? These questions are brought up in The Epic of Gilgamesh and are a part of a theme in the epic. The story goes that after Enkidu s death, Gilgamesh s dear friend; Gilgamesh goes and searches for Utanapishtim to find the secret to immortality. When Gilgamesh does find Utanapishtim, and ask for the secret, Utanapishtim responds with No one can see death [...] yet there is a savage death that snaps off mankind (42). The death of Gilgamesh s old character is when he becomes the kind and good king at the end of the epic. I would like to submit my original fable based on traditional Irish fables and myths, titled The Journey for the Cure, to be inserted in your upcoming anthology. This story is about a man, Jack Kelly, who makes a journey to save his wife from a curse. On his journey, he meets a leprechaun who throws him off and he has to race to save his wife in time. My work reveals common Irish traditions, archetypes, and morals that are relevant with youth. The purpose of storytelling in Irish culture was to pass along morals in an entertaining way, in order to impact the lives of the reader. From the traditional Irish literary works I have read, they all have morals that are about being loyal, and not being naive or selfish when encountering other people. For example, in the Irish fable, The Field of Boliauns, the protagonist, Tom Fitzpatrick, is very greedy and selfish when he encounters a leprechaun. In the end, Tom ends up without any gold, because of his selfishness and how naive he was. In my story, The Journey for the Cure, the reader is taught that being naive and selfish can affect you negatively in life. Now a days, the fairy tales children are aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment industry. Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went through retellings and alternation; for example Hamlet and The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King, Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. The Eight Stages Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development Abstract This paper studies the eight stages of Erik Erikson s psychosocial development and the impact is has had on how the people view the personality development during infancy to late adulthood. These stages are split up into specific age groups and show how the developments occur. There are difficulties presented within the groups that the child, teenager, and adult go through and experience within their lives. These are positive and negative experiences that ultimately decide the outcome of each person. Each person has a different life experience so these stages help to show how a person grows into their personality as they age in life. These experiences show that they can define who a person is and they are crucial. Erikson s Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development Erik Erikson s eight stages of psychosocial development have made a major impact on how people view where and how a personality develops within a person. The many stages go in order from infancy to late adulthood. The stages have some sort of difficulty that each person goes through while one being a positive outcome and one being a negative outcome. According to McLeod, Erikson s ideas were greatly influenced by Freud and his theory regarding the structure and topography of personality. Women were exemplified as good examples, witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus, and were healed by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Hulga s mother, Mrs. Hopewell, convinced that Hulga would have been better without a useless PhD. degree in philosophy , has no comprehension of the one true meaning of life to her daughter. Mrs. Hopewell feels that she can not brag on Hulga because, she sees her daughter as unsuccessful in life due to the meaninglessness of her degree. In final analysis the glass eye relates to the overall theme of the story illusion vs. reality because, the characters in the story see their situations differently than how they truly are. The main character joy has no common sense and struggles to find her own identity. Another important aspect of illusion vs. reality is the bible salesman who is truly a con artist and get Hulga into a bind. This idea of success has been called the American Dream. The Dream started when colonists in the 1700s came to America to find their own idea of success. Today, the American Dream can be recognized as upward social mobility and strong relationships. Passion, privilege, and hope are factors that affect an individual s money and relationships which are integral parts of achieving the American Dream. Money is needed for general well being, to provide for food, clothes, and shelter. Without basic necessities, the need for emotional fulfillment is of lesser importance until the necessities are found. When a person has their basic needs met, they can shift their focus from survival to living life as an individual. Passion drives people to their goals and for many, money is a way to achieve their passion. The eponymous character in The Great Gatsby had his passion and his goal, which was to marry Daisy and amassing wealth was the best way he knew how to achieve that goal. He especially tries to prove he has money to Daisy when he is showing her all of his expensive shirts (Fitzgerald 49). Gatsby s goal was heavily dependent on Daisy s approval of him. However, the changes that occur at this time are so significant that it is useful to talk about adolescence as a distinct period of human life cycle. Adolescence begins with puberty, i.e. a series of physiological changes that lead to full development of the sexual organs and the ability to breed and sex. The time interval that elapses begins at 11 to 12 years and extends to 18 to 20. However we cannot associate to a 13 with one 18 years. It is hypothesized that the overgrowth of synapses prepares young children to adapt to their environments. Once it is determined which synapses are used and which are unnecessary, the excess connections disappear, allowing the brain to work more efficiently. A process known as myelination also begins early in a child s development. In this process an insulating layer of fat covers nerve cells. The insulating layer increases the speed at which neurochemical information moves along the axon, facilitating more rapid and efficient information processing At the earliest ages, those nerves that involve sensory development become myelinated, followed by those neurons responsible for motor development. The final area of the brain in which myelination occurs is in the cortex with the neurons associated with complex thinking skills. This pattern of brain growth continues through late adolescence (Swanson, 2010). Attention span has also been linked to myelination. Therefore, children s ability to concentrate and attend to novel stimuli increases with age and brain development. Because of these important development differences, the school based practitioner needs to be aware that younger children may need shorter sessions and more think time to respond than an adolescent. As noted, children also experience relatively rapid growth in their bodies. By the time a girl reaches 12, she will likely have entered a period of rapid physical development, including the onset ... Connecticut, Roe v. Wade, and Planned Parenthood v. Connecticut, the leadership of Planned Parenthood were convicted of violating a Connecticut statute which prohibited the use of any drug or article to prevent conception because they provided information on contraception and prescribed a contraceptive device for use by the wife of a married couple. The United States Supreme Court ruled that the Connecticut statute was unconstitutional.1 The court reasoned that the relatively vague nature of several constitutional amendments left room for the implicit establishment of a broader range of rights and protections than those which are more explicitly mentioned in the text of each amendment. Several justices drew from a number of different amendments to support their final ruling including the self incrimination clause of the fifth amendment, the ninth amendment, and the due process clause of the fourteenth amendment. The key effect of this ruling was that the Supreme Court established an explicit reference to an individual s constitutional right to privacy and it functionally pitted that right against the interest of the state. Climate change is when the climate changes on Earth and usually is when it gets warmer. It is mainly caused by the burning of fossil fuels which is what most cars do in order to function. With this technology the world will have a better future away from the climate changing and the ice caps melting. Radio Systems also play a big part in society. Without NASA we might not even have a lot of the communication methods we have today. We might not even have had phones or the internet yet. • 39. In Cold Blood Rhetorical Devices Truman Capote s In Cold Blood is a masterfully crafted book, often acclaimed for it s unique style. Accordingly, readers mustn t look very far before they find a plethora of rhetoric. Capote is often credited with having created the original crime novel, and he didn t get this distinction by writing like everyone else. He used his interesting writing style to make his readers feel as though they were actually in the book, but not just as an onlooker. He allowed them to get inside the character s heads and really know them, glimpsing flash backs into the character s pasts, while also foreshadowing events to come. He wrote with a very intricate style, but also one that ended up being incredibly effective. Capote was truly an artist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often this foreshadowing was very subtle and easily overlooked if the reader wasn t careful. For example, at the very bottom of page 108 and onto the top of page 109, Capote shares one of Dick s thoughts regarding Perry s anger in which he says, The time had been when Dick had thought he could control, could regulate the temperature of these sudden cold fevers that burned and chilled his friend. He had been mistaken, and in the aftermath of that discovery, had grown very unsure of Perry... At first glance this quote seems foreboding, but unless the reader has finished the book, they may not notice the foreshadowing. At the end of the book it is reveled that Perry single handedly killed the entire Clutter family, which is most likely the time when Dick made the discovery that there might be something wrong with Perry. Capote hid his foreshadowing very well, so that it is often only found once the event it foreshadowed had passed. However, this isn t to say that it was ineffective. His foreshadowing served it s exact purpose, as readers who would notice the subtle hints would be drawn in, curious to see what they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To do so, we first need to understand the function of protein folding, amyloid fibril as well as alpha helix, beta sheets, AÎČ , and α Synuclein...how they affected the structures of each protein in certain diseases. Then, it would be a good fundamental tool that may lead to the development for treating diseases. However, the challenge in developing treatment to prevent the misfolding disorders is identifying the ideal stage at which the protein misfolding and subsequent aggregation can be disrupted. For example, Alzheimer s Disease, treatment methods for AD, we need to develop of protease inhibiters aimed at stopping the Amyloid beta release and prevent the aggregation of ... • 41. Schools Providing Contraception For Children Schools Providing Contraception When a teenage girl sees that small pink plus sign on a pregnancy test, many things begin to run through her mind. What am I going to tell my parents and boyfriend? How is this going to affect me? How will my friends and family react? What about my education and future? How did this happen to me? What could I have done to prevent this? Most teenagers have sex without being protected. Whether they re embarrassed or afraid of being seen, it results in a lot of teenage pregnancies. However, there is a way teenage girls can get the needed protection without being seen or embarrassed. High schools should provide condoms, birth control, sex education classes, and individual counseling to students who ask for them, thus giving private access to the students who need it. The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) states: birth control is a term that includes all methods used to regulate or prevent the birth of children. For thousands of years, birth control received little public attention. Death rates were extremely high in infancy and children. Overpopulation is what spurred an interest in birth control. Condoms are used to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms also had very little public attention until the amount of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States increased by eighty percent from the year 1987 to the late 1990 s (Legislatures, 2015). • 42. Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte ... what mystery, that broke out, now in fire and now in blood, at the deadest hours of the night? What creature was it, that masked an ordinary woman s face and shape, uttered the voice, now of a mocking demon, and anon of a carrion seeking bird of prey? (BrontĂ« 221). A brief synopsis of Charlotte BrontĂ« s novel, Jane Eyre, is present in this short quote, which describes the mystery that is present within the novel. As well as its gothic sensation, romance is present as well, giving the novel its feminine characteristics. Foreshadowing is a main aspect which helps prolong the suspense in the novel. The element of foreshadowing helps the reader foresee the upcoming events in the novel. These gothic elements create a mysterious plot within the novel, which escalates during the climax. Novels in the Gothic Romance genre include many mysterious events, as well as a twisted love story. Jane Eyre is classified as a Gothic Romance due to its gloomy setting, elements of mystery and suspense, and supernatural components. In like manner, Jane Eyre contained a gloomy setting that follows throughout the novel. The first main indication of Jane Eyre being a Gothic Romance was when Jane was living at Gateshead Hall. When Jane was sent to the red room, imagery was presented which links the room to the idea of death. . . .. it was in this chamber he breathed his last; . . . and, since that day, a sense of dreary consecration had guarded it from frequent intrusion (BrontĂ« 8). • 43. Research Paper On Thermodynamics Chemical thermodynamics is the investigation of the exchange of heat and work with chemical reactions or with physical changes of state inside the bounds of the laws of thermodynamics. It involves not only laboratory measurements of different thermodynamic properties, but also the utilization of mathematical strategies to the investigation of chemical questions and the spontaneity of processes. The structure of chemical thermodynamics depends on the initial two laws of thermodynamics. Beginning from the first and second laws of thermodynamics major conditions of Gibbs can be determined which thus can be used to anticipate the thermodynamic properties of the systems using relatively simple mathematics. In the beginning of 20th century, two noteworthy publications, (i) Thermodynamics and the Free Energy of Chemical substances by Gilbert N. Lewis and Merle Randall and (ii) Modern Thermodynamics by the methods of Willard Gibbs written by E. A. Guggenheim effectively applied the principles developed by Gibbs to chemical processes, and thus established the exploration of the science of chemical thermodynamics. The essential goal of chemical thermodynamics is the establishment of a paradigm for the assurance of the feasibility or spontaneity of a given transformation. ... • 44. Broken Spears Summary The book, Broken Spears was an interesting reading that talked about the Spanish conquest of Tenochtitlan. Throughout the book, it becomes clear that the Spanish were successful in their conquest as a result of a number of factors. The Spanish were intimidating in appearance and in their weaponry. They had animals that the Aztecs had never seen before. They also formed alliances with rival tribes, like the Tlaxcaltecas tribe. Finally, one of the key reasons that the Spaniards were able to successfully conquer the Aztecs was due to the fact that Motecuhzoma himself, believed that Cortes and his men were gods. In regards appearance, the Spanish were essentially covered from head to toe in iron armor. Even the weapons they carried were covered in iron. The Aztecs were unaccustomed to the iron clad individuals. In regards to weaponry, the Spanish were, even more, intimidating in the fact that they had cannons. The Aztecs describe the cannon to Motecuhzoma, a thing like a ball of stone comes out of its entrails: it comes shooting sparks and raining fire...smoke that comes out of it has a pestilent odor. The odor penetrates even the brain and causes great discomfort ( 30). For me personally, the only reason I can think of for Cortes to fire off a cannon was to show dominance over the Indians. For people who had never even heard of a cannon before, it is understandable that the Native Americans were fearful of Cortes and his men. Along with the iron clad armor and weapons the ... • 45. Steel Garage Door Research Paper Why The Common Steel Garage Door Is A Good Choice For Your Home Steel garage doors have long been a popular choice for homeowners, and it s easy to see why. Although you can choose a door made from wood, vinyl, or fiberglass, steel is often the best way to go. Here are some reasons steel is a good choice when shopping for a new garage door. Steel Doors Match The Neighborhood If you re the type of person who likes to blend in, then steel is a good choice because chances are most of your neighbors have steel doors too. Steel doors not only go well in any neighborhood, they also match any type of home and style of architecture. Many people opt for plain white doors, but if you want to match your home s paint colors, you can buy steel doors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The least expensive doors consist of a single sheet of steel. The steel is strong enough to keep out intruders, but it doesn t insulate your garage very well. More expensive doors have double or triple layers to them with insulation filling the space between. That makes them very energy efficient, which is helpful if you want to use the garage as a workshop or exercise room. Modern Steel Doors Resist Rust Steel is known for rusting, but steel garage doors don t usually succumb to this problem. For one thing, the color is factory finished so it acts as a protective coating. If you scratch the paint off, you ll want to repair it so the bare metal doesn t begin to rust. As long as the door is cared for and the paint is intact, it should last for years without developing rust that causes squeaky operations or eyesores. Steel Doors Offer Excellent Security There s a reason steel is used for residential entry doors and commercial security doors. It s strong and an excellent barrier against intruders. When you have a steel door protecting your garage, you can store tools and other belongings in there without worrying about theft. However, a door is only as strong as the lock, so if security is a concern, be sure to have a good lock and that the side door and windows are secure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Importance Of Technology Technology: A Backstabbing Companion. Innovations have given us tools to become better and more efficient, but they have also brought an era of mental decay and insecurity. How can something so important to our development be the cause of misery and confrontation between individuals. Technology has decreased our ability to communicate properly with others, this is due to our inability to differentiate online interactions from real life occurrences. It is important for all of us living in this revolutionary world to asses our relationship with technology. The effects of social media and the constant interaction with technology makes us vulnerable to distractions that can cause us to lose focus and by consequence deliver poor quality work. The constant pressure that comes from notifications and messages is detrimental for our mental health. The best example of this affects our bodies is shown when our bodies start to produce chemicals such as dopamine and get adrenaline pumping, these two processes make our body stop all ongoing functions, looses concentration and struggles to regain the level of concentration it was on for a considerable amount of time. (Take Back Your Life.) The changes technology has brought are most likely far superior to what older historians and scientists would have imagined, technology has created a concept that in hindsight could have been frowned upon in past centuries. • 47. Structural Inequality Of The New Zealand Introduction: The presence of child poverty in New Zealand has been a long standing issue since before the 1990 s and continues to be prevalent in today s New Zealand. Although child poverty can be linked to multiple causes, there is one major cause that is not widely discussed enough within the political world of New Zealand. This is the issue of structural inequality creating an unjust welfare system which perpetuates stereotypes and damages the support that beneficiaries are provided by our government. This, in turn, causes a stressful living situation for benefit dependent families, and creates an environment that is more susceptible to child poverty. With sufficient evidence, I will explain how structural inequality is linked to child poverty, and show what our government s response has been to both of these issues. Structural Inequality in Modern Day New Zealand: New Zealand is seen as a pure, untarnished country from a distant perspective but, there are a huge number of families in New Zealand that are struggling to get by with barely any help from the government. This is the outcome of many decades of structural inequality that has impacted generations of children that turn to the same life as their parents, creating a cycle of poverty. Structural inequality can be loosely described as denot[ing] methodical and often subtle processes through which social structures disadvantage and harm certain groups of people (Hodgetts,2014). The American people will consume an average of around 9 billion chickens yearly. ( Poultry Facts ) Of those chickens, nearly 70% are raised in filthy, industrial style warehouses, having never even seen the sun. ( Broiler Chicken Industry Key Facts 2016 ) These warehouses, or broiler sheds, pack the chickens tightly together, so much so that they must walk on top of one another to move around. The chickens are overfed extensively and treated with high amounts of antibiotics and growth hormones. After only being alive for less than 50 days, the chickens are snatched up and packed into the back of trucks. Soon the chickens arrive for slaughter and are quickly hung upside down, stunned, and cut in to pieces. ( The Life of: Broiler Chickens ) I understand that eating animals is natural for people, excluding vegans and vegetarians; I also eat animals, but I do not understand why the animals we eat must suffer. Also, due to the unsanitary conditions of the sheds, those who tirelessly work to keep the flocks alive are likely to suffer from chronic bronchitis, are subjected to dangerous amounts of E. coli bacteria, and are at a higher risk of contracting a strain of avian viruses, all just to earn minuscule wages with almost no insurance. • 49. Civil War And A Revolution According to the UN, the death toll in Syria almost reached two hundred thousand over the last three and a half years, and the number of displaced Syrians reached 9.5 million. Because of the complexity of the situation, a lot of people don t even know exactly what is happening over there. The first thing that might pop into one s mind is that a civil war is going on there. On the other hand, others argue that it is a revolution against oppression that has been brutally responded to. Evaluating the situation in Syria requires solid understanding of specific terms of a civil war and a revolution. Also, is there a general consensus on what a civil war or a revolution is? Can the situation in Syria simply be classified into one of these two? The first important thing to know is that there is no single definition of a civil war that historians or political scientists have agreed upon. However, a commonly used definition to judge a situation is that of the correlate of war project, which explains a civil war as a sustained military combat, primarily internal, resulting in at least 1,000 battle deaths per year, in which government forces are in conflict with a revolting force capable of effective resistance, determined by the latter s ability to inflict upon the government forces at least 5% of the fatalities that the insurgents sustain. Under this classification, there have been 53 civil wars from 1946 to 1992 (Civil War in the Post Colonial World 1946 92). Other Definitions are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
