How Managed Care Is A System
Managed care is a system that puts together the financing and delivery of apposite health care by
means of an all inclusive set of services (Docteur, E., Oxley, H. 2003).
Although, managed care can be considered an expansive term that covers many form of organizations
and insurance alternative that includes
Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), that provides a wide ranging option of services, over a
period f time and at a fixed rate.
Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), that consist of a group of hospitals, physicians and providers
who are in agreement with an insurer, third party administrator, employer, or other group so as to
provide health care services to covered individuals;
Point of Service Plans (POSs), that combines the features of the HMO s and PPO s. with this plan
members can select which preference they want to use at the time of service;
Indemnity or Fee for Service Plans that integrates the characteristics of managed care, while providing
the benefits in a prearranged amount for covered services;
Self Insurance Plans that allows employers and businesses assume financial liability and the
responsibilities of an insurer for their own employees.
In the last four decade, the cost of healthcare services has been on the rise, thereby leading to the
promulgation of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 (Salmon, J. W. 1995). This act
provided the opportunity to control healthcare cost, through membership of a provider network that

Pike s Gold Rush
story of why a United States Mint facility was needed in Denver goes back to about 1850, when some
miners found gold in Colorado, then part of Kansas Territory. The Gold Rush didn t begin then
because the miners who found the gold didn t even stop to claim it! They were only passing through
on their way to search for gold in California. But the news spread quickly each time gold was found in
this area around Pike s Peak.
The first miners who found gold in Colorado didn t even stop to claim it.
During the late 1850s, times were hard all around the country. Many banks and businesses had to close
and many people lost their homes, farms, savings, and jobs. These troubles, combined with the desire
to strike it rich, fanned the flames of

Indus Valley Seals
The large and under appreciated civilization of the Indus Valley reveals treasures and achievements of
ancestors from our past. A seal from the Indus Valley has left historians and archeologists puzzled
about its possible meanings. Archeologists believe the seal could represent a particular business, or
even a prominent individual. The seals found could signify trade and commerce amongst villages,
representing their leaders, a sacrificial ritual, or protection and procreation. In some ancient societies
seals were used for printing an image on a document or product. In the Indus Valley the seals often
have images of animals and some kind of title or inscription. Unfortunately the language written on
these seals is still undeciphered. The specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To illustrate, the Indus civilization flourished a thousand years later than the Middle East and North
Africa. So these huge civilizations were already dominating the area, leaving the Indus Valley in the
shadows. Then Indian or South Asian civilizations moved toward the plains of the Ganges River,
which archeologists believed covered all that remained of the Indus (p.103). The Indus Valley began
to decline around 1700 B.C.E and was not rediscovered until the twentieth century. Therefore decades
passed before any recognition of the Indus Valley, causing erosion and wear on the artifacts and
history of the valley. All scholars have really uncovered are the advanced cities and neighborhoods
they made. This leaves a lot of room for potential explanations about the civilization and their lives.
Moreover, the script written on the seals found are unrecognizable and archeologists cannot decode
the language. The language written on these seals is unlike any other dialect. In addition, our mindset
compared to the people of the Indus Valley is worlds apart. A plausible reason why people cannot
decipher these intricate seals is our mind are overcomplicating their meanings. I think we perplex, or
over simplify, their dialect. We are so in the dark about the interpretations of this ancient civilization
and their seals because the Indus Valley is foreign to us. Limited archeologist

Reliability Based Cost Model Essay
Reliability Based Cost Model Development As it is of December 2017, AWST contracts Romax for
wind farm Operation and Maintenance costs estimates. The motivation for contracting Romax instead
of performing an estimate ourselves is that Romax can do a better job than AWST due to a larger
database of failure modes and deeper expertise. Due to this reason, AWST does not have a model that
could have ingested the data even if it was available that is an additional barrier for in house cost
model. This memo will lay down the difficulties and the way to overcome them to create an in house
reliability based cost model. An additional benefit of pursuing reliability statistics is the enhanced
suitability review that could flag potential component ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a numerical implementation, this equation can be written in vector matrix form below. ψ(P ⃗
)=f^1 (P ⃗ )+∫_T▒〖ψ(P ⃗ )K((P ) ⃗,P ⃗ )d(P ) ⃗ 〗 ψ(P ⃗ )= event density for a state vector P at
time t. f^1 (P ⃗ ) = first state probability ψ(P ⃗ ) = event density at time t K((P ) ⃗,P ⃗ )= state
transition kernel. This equation looks complicated but it is based only on the Weibull failure
distribution and Markov matrices process which some people of our team are very familiar with.
Alternatively, a simple Monte Carlo simulation for two states up and down can be calculated using the
Weibull failure distribution described below. Developing an algorithm to process the time in
operating, failing, and failed condition for each of the components is the key element for the cost
modeling. This effort should go in parallel with obtaining the Weibull distributions for each of the
components described below. A feedback should be obtained from Brian Kramak and Stephen
Lightfoote to quantify the time and effort required for developing Markov Chain Monte Carlo
algorithm. Weibull Distribution Most of the failure modes follow a two parameter Weibull failure
distribution as shown below. F(t)=1 exp[ (t/η(X) )^β ] η(X)=characteristic life (scale parameter)
β=Weibull slope (shape parameter) β is obtained through Weibull Log fit from field data. η(X) is
obtained through fitting a Weibull Log Linear model (also known as Weibull regression or Weibull
proportional hazards).

Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating for Leisure,...
Structural techniques play a huge role in many poems due to the fact that structure sometimes reflects
what is happening in the poem. This can clearly be seen with all the poems, in Remember and Do not
go gentle into that good night a strict, tight and ridged structure and this helps reinforce the meaning
that the poets are trying to portray. With Do not go gentle the structure of the poem in some respects
contrasts what is actually happening with Dylan Thomas, with father dying; his head is all over the
place but the structure is tight and strict. Villanelles are very traditional strict structures and the
message that is portrayed through Do not go gentle contrasts it as it is an untraditional message. In
addition to this the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it is not evident we could interpret that the mother in the poem is becoming hysterical
and agitated and due to the fact that her she needs to Carefully part it . This is because the child is, as
we find out later on, is dying. As for the readers, they are anxious due to the fact that Chinua Achebe
slowly drip feeds information to the reader allowing many different interpretations and events to
evolve in the readers mind. As for E for L the lack of strict and ridged structure and the quick
evolution of the structure in some aspects mimic the thought process of the character within the poem.
The character within the poem is psychotic and his mind is all over the place j, on top of that his
killing tendencies and his thirst for murder quickly evolves from a fly to a goldfish to a human just
like structure quickly evolves. This lack of strict poetic structure allows for the poet to get the readers
full attention and for them to grasp the reader and get their message about death across in the most
effective way possible. Finally In The man he killed and Havisham a cyclical structure is used and this
helps reinforce the meaning that the poet is trying to portray. With The man he killed the structure
reinforces the dilemma that the character is facing as he has killed a man; his head is all over the place
but the structure is tight and traditional and this can be seen with the ABAB rhyme scheme. In
addition to this the poem

Professional Singers Enhanced Voice Quality
As a result of training, professional singers enhanced voice quality may be related to respiratory,
aerodynamic, phonatory, and resonatory/articulatory adjustments. Singers are often trained to onset
voicing at varying lung volumes (LVs) to produce voice qualities that are both perceptually pleasing
and aerodynamically efficient. The goal of most professional vocal training is determined perceptually
by a voice teacher to approach an ideal voice quality for a specific genre (e.g. opera, belt, etc.). We
examined the effects of training and task difficulty on physiological vocal behaviors and cortical
activation patterns in untrained singers and freshman vocal performance and vocal education students

Organizational Behaviour Case Analysis
Case Analysis: Leading Change At Simmons Problem Identification
In the case Leading Change at Simmons , the fundamental issue for Simmons Company is whether or
not it should go ahead with Eitel s proposed idea of a culture change program which would cost $7.2
million at a time where the company is encompassed in a myriad of problems and severe economic
crises . The program has had initial success but its future profitability still remains largely uncertain
due to high levels of stress and resistance to change found amongst the company s employees.
Analysis and Evaluation
Simmons is a well established, trademark producer of bed mattresses but the company s organizational
structure is not in line with its promulgated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To overcome this resistance to change, it is essential that Eitel form positive relationships with his
workers along with good support and commitment. He could do this by encouraging better
communication in the company and educating the management about his plan by communicating the
logic of his proposed changes. If the employees see the full facts and solve the misunderstandings,
resistance should subside. This can be done by allowing the employees to develop and form the plans
to introduce changes with him which would allow for enhanced participation and acceptance of the
change as the employees would have a sense of ownership in the change made which will make it
much easier for them to conform once everyone is on board for the decision. Eitel should also make
sure that all changes are fair to everyone and do not come of as being biased which could create
discrepancies among the workers.
Other than that, he should focus on activities such as intergroup development, which seeks to change
the groups attitudes, stereotypes and perceptions about each other through training sessions, which
focus on differences among occupations, departments, or divisions within an organization.

Analysis Of Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner

Forgiving Yourself
According to dictionary.com, Forgive means to cease to feel resentment against. This one word is
what many people struggle with. People have a hard time forgiving other people but more often
themselves. Amir knows just how hard it is to forgive yourself in The Kite Runner by Khaled
Hosseini. When Amir makes the decision to not speak up about Hassan he felt so much guilt that he
wanted Hassan and Ali to leave, he regretted it instantly. Years later, Rahim khan called Amir and
asked him to come back to Afghanistan where he found out Hassan was his half brother. Amir finally
forgave himself when he found a way to make up for his mistakes. Hosseini portrays Amir as a
morally ambiguous character by his guilt and inability to forgive himself for what he did to Hassan.
Morally ambiguous characters become challenged by a dilemma that will test their mental strength.
Amir s choice to not speak up about what happened shows his betrayal to his friendship with Hassan.
Hosseini displays Amir as Morally ambiguous when Ali asks did something happen to him, Amir
Agha? Something he s not telling me? [Amir] shrugged. How should I know ( Hosseini 81).While
Amir is saying he doesn t know, he is internally arguing with himself about if he should say something
or not. Amir knows telling Ali would solve many problems, but he doesn t want Baba to be
disappointed in him. Morally ambiguous characters blur the

Gran Torino Symbolism
Gran Torino is a film directed by Clint Eastwood who also plays the main character, Walt Kowalski.
The film is set in Detroit, Michigan where a car manufacturing factory has just closed, therefore,
former workers moving away and immigrants such as the Hmong people moving in. Walt is a veteran
of the Korean war where he won the silver star medal in 1952. The penultimate scene is the climax of
the film where Walt confronts the Hmong gang, this holds a lot of significance. The gang has been
hassling Thao who Walt has taken under his wing. Walt sees this an opportunity to sacrifice himself.
The main theme of this scene is redemption, Walt can relieve his sin of killing a boy in Korea and
Thao and his family can live a happier, safer life. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walt is a chain smoker which could most likely be the reason he is sick. The cigarette can be seen as
representing a cancer stick. Another symbol in the scene is when Walt has been shot, he is lying in a
crucifix position with a lighter in his hand. Blood begins to trickle down. The lighter is a war souvenir
and represents his only weapon in the scene. Both of these symbols are used one after the other. The
cigarette is in Walt s hand while he is standing on the lawn while the crucifix is in the moments after
Walt has been shot. The symbols create meaning to Walt and his background as smoking is the reason
he is ill and the crucifix as his wife was religious yet he was not but wanted to feel free of his sins
before passing, the position also showed sacrifice. The director uses these symbols to show that Walt
is a thoughtful man who considered his options wisely and instead of committing more sins by
fighting back, he went to the house knowing he was going to die but the Hmong gang would be sent to
jail for their crime. It seems that Walt become more open minded to religion throughout the film and
had a better outlook on life leading up to the sacrifice of his life which leads back to the main theme of

Women s Rights in the 19th Century and Now Essay
It would be a huge understatement to say that many things have changed when it comes to women s
rights, positions, and roles in our society today since the 19th century. Actually, very few similarities
remain. Certain family values, such as specific aspects of domesticity and performance of family
duties are amongst the only similarities still present. Victorian women had several hardships to
overcome. Education, marriage, leisure, and travel amongst other things were limited and controlled.
A woman was never to travel if not in the company of her parents or husband. Leisure, for example,
was limited and a woman always had to look busy and find something to do. They did not have the
right to vote, sue or own any property. Their bodies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted in her share of criticism from the media and her readers. In a time when it was expected
of a woman to behave a certain way and sexual desire was considered something only experienced by
men, Kate Chopin spoke with exceptional openness about human sexuality. She then criticized society
for its close mindedness. She helped to generate enlightened attitudes among both the women and men
of her time. By not only admitting the fact that a woman has strong sexual desires, but also glorifying
it, Chopin opened doors to better communication and understanding between men and women as a
result of The Storm.
This has changed significantly since the 19th century. Sex, amongst others, is no longer taboo to
women and it has become a much more liberated subject. It is encouraged and accepted in today s
society that a woman enjoys sexual pleasures outside the restraints of only pregnancy, even marriage.
Women in the Victorian era had very little to say when it came to marriage. Usually, the parents of the
woman would make the choice for her as to whom she would marry based on a man s social status. It
was not odd for a 15 year old girl to wed, unlike in today s society. Parents would usually look for a
man who was wealthy enough to help the woman advance in her life, since women were mostly
uneducated and only taught to be homemakers and mothers and not work. Women were dealt with as
if they were objects, and

Moldavite Pendant Research Paper
The Log Bench What I need, I told myself, is to take the dogs for a walk. Maybe then I ll remember.
Two weeks I d spent looking for my grandmother s Moldavite pendant. I d been going crazy retracing
my steps notwithstanding the sentimental significance it held for me. Lying on her death bed, my
grandmother had given it to me for protection when I was fourteen. She cautioned me of the strong
energies it held and that this pendant would protect me from negative entities. Her great aunt had
given it to her with warnings of the intense frequency and high vibration that resonated from this
stone. Grandmother claimed it had brought true love into her life shortly after it was bequeathed to
her. My grandfather had served in both wars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remembering the intense reaction I d felt from the first time my grandmother had placed the pendant
into my palm and thereupon I knew that he was genuinely speaking. Continuing he added, If you look
to the south of the nest you will see your home. Ever since you were entrusted with the pendant I have
been watching as it s been my duty from the beginning of time to safeguard the Moldavite pendant
and its keeper. There have been many keepers of the pendant hence their reward has been protection.
Placing this pendant into the wrong hands would have an adverse impact on the earth and mankind as
it can be used destructively. It s natural green crystals have powerful transforming abilities that should
only to be used for the advantage of this planet. Are you following me? Yes, I have felt its power, I
replied as I cast my gaze downwards, but I lost it a couple weeks ago. I ve searched everywhere to no
avail. My grandmother entrusted me with it and now it s gone. I ve no idea where to search next. Will
you help me find it? Sparkles appeared in the crows eyes as he replied, It s here under my wing, and
pulled a silvery chain from under his wing. Beautiful arcs of rays projected all around us from this
delicate, oval, forest green pendant as the sunlight touched

Ransom By David Malouf Analysis
Grief can play with one s mind twisting and manipulating one to not be the same person they used to
be, while grief can also change one for the better. In the book, Ransom, by David Malouf, Hector kills
Achilles friend, Patroclus, so Achilles kills Hector. Priam wants to see his son one last time so he
makes a plan to get to him. Somax takes Priam on a carriage to go find his son Hector. They have
some troubles along the way, but they eventually get to Priam s son. Priam brings Hector back to Troy
and Hector is buried. In Ransom by David Malouf, the author teaches the reader the power of grief
through the experiences of Priam and Achilles. Grief can be a controlling force, it can cause and
individual to change as a person, and grief can strongly influence one s actions. The sorrow from the
loss of a loved can be burdensome and can take a toll on one and their family. Priam explains to
Hecuba, It is eleven days now since Hector s death and we have done nothing, all of us, but weep and
sit stunned with grief (Malouf 50). Priam s family is depressed over the loss of their son Hector. It
controls their emotions and the way they think of their life now, moving on without Hector. While
Priam is talking with Deiphobus, Priam lowers his head. When he raises it again his look is grave but
his eyes, for all the power of emotion in him are dry (Malouf 84). Priam is having a difficult time
coming to terms that Hector is actually gone, so he is overcome with multiple emotions.

Victor Frankenstein As A Monster
Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In
Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naïve. His creation, the
monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject
because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by
Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor
was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would
benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in
the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was
nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines
rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any
circumstances.
Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds
answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he
attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into
enthusiasm (34). When Victor discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa, he suddenly found life
meaningful because natural philosophy caught his attention. Regardless of what people say, Victor

In contrast, tourism destination have pull factor that hopefully match push factors that potential
tourists have.
Pull factors can be either natural or manmade.
Impacts on future tourist destination region are:
Geographical Factor
These factors are mainly seasonality and attractions. Tourist demand goes up and down throughout the
years. The supply is influenced as the seasonal pattern affects the occupancy rate of accommodation.
For example, during the peak season, the accommodation is almost full meaning that there is not
enough to cater and there will be rise in price.
In tourism region, seasonality leads to seasonal employment, and the correlative seasonal
unemployment causes welfare problems.
Good attraction makes a particular place famous which influences supply.
QUALITY OF PRODUCT AND THE TECHNOLOGY
Destination factors are another factor which influences the supply on tourism regions. There are many
elements of destination factors, but the main aspects of destination factors are quality of the products
and technology . The quality of the products provides the main image of a particular company.

The Impact Of Title Ix On Career Opportunities For...

1. The search term I used to search for this article was Title IX in sport. I used the OneSearch
Database through UNF s online library. I selected this study because it focuses on the impact of Title
IX on the career opportunities in intercollegiate athletic administration.

provide the reader knowledge about the impact it has had. Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that
has removed many barriers that once prevented people, on the basis of sex, from participating in
educational opportunities and careers of their choice (Bower Hums, 2013). Acosta and Carpenter
(2012) reported that the number of female athletes playing college sports has risen from 16,000 in
1968 to over 200,000 in 2012. Although the increased number of opportunities has provided women
the chance to participate in the sport, the percentage of women coaching women s teams has decline
over time from 90% in 1972 to 42.9% in 2012 (Acosta Carpenter, 2012). Alongside coaching is the
lack of women working in intercollegiate administration. In 1972, the percentage of female athletic
directors overseeing women s programs was 90%, Today, the percentage of female athletic directors is

Literary Analysis Of The Interlopers And The Machine That...
The Same Elements, the Different Feelings: A Comparison Between The Interlopers and The Machine
That Won the War. Have you ever read a story that reduced you to tears or genuinely made you laugh
out loud? Through the years, writers have utilized literary elements such as plot twists, foreshadowing,
and the three types of irony situational, dramatic, and verbal as well as characterization, misdirection,
and tone to play with the emotions of their readers. Today, we are going to focus on plot twists,
situational irony, and tone by exploring and analyzing two short stories. The Machine That Won the
War and The Interlopers are two short stories that employ plot twists, situational irony, and tone to
very different ends. Plot twist is used in The Machine That Won the War; throughout the story, the
three characters have been discussing Multivac, the machine that won the war (1). Different characters
reveal different pieces of information, causing the reader to believe that men won the war or that a
different machine was the true victor (1). In the ending, Asimov surprises the reader by causing Swift
to reveal that a simple coin toss won the war not a machine at all (1). Swift is is dramatic in his
revelation, taking his dear sweet time explaining what machine won the war (1). Finally, he flips a
coin and turns to his companions, asking: Heads or tails, gentlemen? (1) As this is probably not what
the reader is expecting, he is likely caught somewhat off guard, and

Gender Bias In Sports
In society, we see that women and minorities are negatively biased. For women, people are biased
against them because people think that women cannot do a job that is considered a man`s job, or they
aren`t strong enough to do specific tasks. Women are judged when they are playing sports like soccer
because reporters would ask them how is it like playing with other girls? It s as their almost saying,
Are you ok with girls that might be lesbian? There is also a bias for minorities as well because of there
is a society filled with the same race or gender, and then people from all over the world start to
accumulate, some people might fear that their jobs are at stake because the minority are trying to
assimilate to society and are trying to find jobs that are worthy for them to succeed in. Even though
for minorities, you see them areas of work, they are starting to expand their horizon and make a name
for themselves not just limited to specific jobs. Letting this go entirely probably won`t happen but if
society learns to corporate with different cultures and backgrounds, they are small steps to be made
but society has to start somewhere.
The idea that I will be focusing on is sports and how the industry has the power to dictate who will
likely win in the sport based on the culture of the specific game. Even though sports have come a long
way from how it was observed in the past, the players who are in a higher class than other players
usually have the upper hand and win.

My ethical perspectives have evolved through my MBA curriculum by inspiring changes in my

have been educated about the magnitude of ethical demeanor and development of my guiding
principles in addition to cultivating a positive societal image. Moral values and norms result in
behaviors valued by the workplace and society. Based on my perspective, an individual should not
demonstrate unethical actions for the sake of his or her vested interests. Practicing a moral approach
demonstrates a commitment to critical social responsibilities. This also raises the question of altruism.
Some people agree with the altruistic concept while others oppose the philosophy. Should individuals
assume a sympathetic stance for the sole purpose of assisting others? Some take the sympathetic
stance to the extreme of carrying others or taking on the responsibilities of others. In my view,
practicing an ethical code of conduct is obligatory as well as giving consideration to the requests of
external as well as internal stakeholders without assuming the responsibilities of others. Donating to
the social welfare of society is crucial as individuals should not enact unethical behaviors that are
destructive to others or society. To cheat [someone] for the benefit of anyone [others] is not an ethical

Nail Salon Research
Important Facts About Professional Manicures
Most of us think of the local nail salon as a place to pamper ourselves in luxury and relax for thirty
minutes to an hour. The nail salon is glamorous and seduces women with the glitz, polish, sparkle, and
glow into their doors. However, danger lurks in quite a few of those nail salons. The surprising fact is
that nail salons are hotbeds of germs, filled with unsanitary conditions that might affect your health
and well being. Here are a few tips to keep in mind, on your next visit to the nail salon.
Talk Honestly To Your Technician
1. Don t just flop down in the chair and let the technician have their way with your nails and toes.
Instead, speak up. An open line of communication between the nail technician and customer is vital to
receiving the type of service that is desires. Make sure that the technician understands your desires and
requirements. For example, sanitary tools and clean conditions. Keeping quiet leads to
miscommunication and the chance for catching germs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Request Information About Sanitary Conditions
Don t hesitate to ask your technician about the sanitary conditions in the salon. Ask about the
techniques used to sanitize their instruments. For example, do they use disinfectants or a heated device
to sterilize tools and kill germs. If they refuse, get up and leave the salon. A salon that refuses to
discuss their sanitation methods is hiding something.
3. Are They Wearing Gloves
Did you know that the majority of nail technicians do not wear gloves? It s quite true. A salon that
takes time to make sure the technicians wear gloves, rates high on cleanliness. Gloves reduce the
transfer of germs.
4. Beware Yucky Floor Conditions

On the above date and time I was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of U.S. Highway 19 and
Ridge Road.
While sitting stationary at the red light on Ridge Road (facing West), I observed a white Dodge pickup
truck with a non functioning tag light directly in front of my patrol vehicle. I briefly turned my patrol
vehicle s front headlights out and again confirmed that the vehicle s tag lights were out. Furthermore, I
could observe that the driver was unbelted with the belt buckle dangling. I had a clear, unobstructed
view directly through the back, untinted window on the vehicle. My headlights assisted my
observation along with the height of the vehicle (truck).

Essay Thomas Hobbes Leviathan
Thomas Hobbes Leviathan
Above anything else, Thomas Hobbes Leviathan is a creation story and an investigation of human
nature. The story begins in a time of chaos and death and through a journey of human development
culminates in the establishment of a sustainable and rational society the commonwealth led by a
sovereign. At a first casual glance, Hobbes reasoning of the transformation from the state of nature to
the commonwealth is not airtight. A few possible objections can be quickly spotted: the contradictions
of natural law with suicide and the civil law to honor even harmful covenants. Hobbes deals with
some of these issues and seems to ignore others, but he does address in detail the most significant
objection to his theory: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He progresses through reason and science, and then opens a discussion of man s passions.
These passions lead to, among other things, motion and endeavour. Hobbes reveals the fundamental
forces that drive man, and in doing so, paints a picture of the state of nature. This endeavour, when it
is toward something which causes it, is called Appetite or Desire...And when the endeavour is
fromward something, it is generally called Aversion. (Leviathan, vi.2). This basic, binary code of
conduct explains man s lawless behavior in nature. Man desires and therefore pursues food, shelter,
and pleasures of the senses, and man has an aversion to and avoids pain, cold, and danger. Hobbes
refers to these desires and aversions in addition to many others as the simple passions. They dictate
the chaos of everyday life in nature. They explain why men kill each other over food or shelter, and
why men and women are attracted to each other.
The concepts of desire and aversion and the simple passions, however, go well beyond explaining just
everyday life. They are the main stepping stones for Hobbes between his basic observations of man,
and his definition of human nature and natural law. Hobbes makes the claim that among man s desires
is power. I put for a general inclination of

According to United Nations, A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country
because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well founded fear of persecution for reasons
of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group (UNHCR
US, n. d.). Statistics of UNHCR in 2015 shows 21.3 million refugees worldwide. Also, 3.2 million
asylum seekers and 40.8 million internally displaced people (IDP) are supported by United Nations in
125 countries. These higher numbers comparing to 2014 are due to the global rise of conflicts and war,
and lower support of affected individuals by their governments. The shocking number belongs to
children who constitute 51 percent of the refugee population, and 98,400 asylum seeker children who
are either separated from their parents or unaccompanied (UNHCR CA, 2016).
IDP is the people who are forced to flee their home in the hope of finding safety without crossing the

Based off of the selection of word choice you can understand that this story was taking place in the
south. The first way you can see that the story takes place in the south is by this quote You all ought to
take them somewhere else for a change so they would see different parts of the world and be broad (O
Connor). The grandmother s use of the word ought should give you an idea that she is southern
because if this story took place up north she would have said something like you should . This quote
also shows you that this family is a part of southern culture because the grandmother says be broad .
This is implying that the family does not live in a large city and that they may live in a secluded area
where it is hard for them to be broad . Word choice is also exemplified in the quote Little niggers in
the country don t have things like we do . The family s choice of words when they are talking about
the African American race shows they are from the south based off of the stereotypes of the south
considering slavery was more present in the south than it was in the north. The way the word nigger is
used by the family also implies that the family in the short story is white. The analyzation of word
choice in this short story helps identify the cultural background of the family. The short story A Good

What Is Arjuna Wrong In The Bhagavad Gita
In The Bhagavad Gita , which was about Arjuna having second thoughts about going into battle with
his family, Krishna gives a couple reasons for urging Arjuna to perform his duty as a warrior. His
arguments appeared very rational, well rounded, and were certainly given some thought. Krishna
proved Arjuna wrong in a very convincing way. To begin, one point or reason that Krishna laid out
was when he stated that we are all going to die at some point rather it be today or in the future. He
makes it a point to tell Arjuna that when we die, only the physical body dies, and the soul lives
forever. That being said Arjuna could kill them at peace knowing that they will still have another life.

Feminization Of Poverty And Gender Roles Essay
Assignment #4 Feminization of Poverty It is the term given to the trend where women represent a
disproportionate percentage of the world poor. Here are many factors that contribute to this trend. The
factors that got my attention was being a single mother or just being a female. Often now days society
claims to give woman the same right as man. But in real life woman do not get the same right as a
man. A woman can get to the same position a man is but the struggle and the effort would be bigger.
According to the theory of social roles, gender stereotypes arise as a consequence of the existence of
gender roles social expectations, prescribing a person a certain behavior depending on his gender. In
other words, watching how representatives of different genders deal with different things, people
conclude that they are fundamentally different from each other. At the same time, gender stereotypes
are the mechanism for maintaining gender roles: beliefs about the unique qualities and distinctive
features of a particular gender are used to justify the need to behave in accordance with the
appropriate gender role. The United Nations considers this problem global and encourages States to
modify existing gender model, preserving a system of unequal values and double standards. In terms
of gender mainstreaming, gender based discrimination and gender inequality are the major problems
in the labor market, which leave their mark on the development of individual regions and the country

The Essence Of Kanye West
The essence of Kanye West is a contradiction; he embodies two opposite sides of the hip hop
spectrum: the conscious and the ignorant. One side of the spectrum embodies the ideals of
brotherhood, collective being, and addresses the social and political aspects affecting the people of
society as Kanye explained formerly as spoken word. The other side demands the artist to live through
the art of self gratification by any means necessary or as Kanye put it, being able to buy 80 gold
chains and go ig nant. Some may argue that the art of compromise in the commercialization of rap
music has been compromised by self proclaimed fashion mogul, and egotistical rap artist, Kanye

debuted at the Def Jam Poetry Slam as a spoken word, you could hear the sincerity, soul, and

Elvis s Impact On Popular Culture
Elvis s Impact on Popular Culture The foundations of today s popular music were built by an unlikely
source: a poor white boy from Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis Presley s country roots would become a
major factor in his success as the King of Rock and Roll. While it is true that Elvis was not the
inventor of rock and roll music, he was the first man to introduce postwar youth to the genre that
would revolutionize American culture. The role Elvis Presley played in the evolution of popular music
is unprecedented. His style has been impersonated, and his music is still revered by young people all
over the world. Elvis s impact can be understood through the music he performed, his status as a pop
icon, and the lingering presence of his legacy in today s society. The cultural importance of rock and
roll has been long lasting. From the early 1950s until now, rock has been the vehicle of expression for
many around the world. It has been the voice of rebellion, political justice, and sexual revolution.
Generation after generation, rock music evolves, yet keeps its values intact. To many, rock music is an

Comparison Of King Richard III And Looking For Richard
To understand the complexity of the lineage of the English monarchy, it is imperative to make a
connection between present values and those of the past. While contemporary society demonstrate an
appreciation of William Shakespeare s play King Richard III (1851) it is not one of his plays they can
readily connect with. Al Pacino s docu drama, Looking for Richard, (henceforth Looking for...) (1996)
attempts to bridge that gap through intertextual connections. Both composers elucidate their respective
contexts through their exploration of the English monarch, King Richard III, through their
representation of the Elizabethan struggle for power and Pacino s attempts to connect the post modern

Shakespeare uses the short stage direction: they fight; Richard is slain followed by the animalistic and
savage metaphor of the bloody dog is dead to convey Richard s death. He uses animal imagery
conveyed by Richmond along with the sudden and immediate death of Richard after he is willing to
trade a kingdom for a horse to show his audience that God has carried out divine retribution due to
Richard s Machiavellian nature. Pacino transformed this scene so that it lead to a deeper
understanding by his mainly secular 20th century audience. By undermining Richmond s inglorious
victory by having the soldiers shoot an arrow into Richard s back, Pacino shows that Richard s death
was unfair. He also removed Richmond s monologue to take the audience s attention away from
Richmond s speech about god and the righteousness of divine retribution. Thus, by portraying
conscience as being more important than divine retribution, Pacino transformed Shakespeare s King
Richard III to suit his context where Richard s guilt killed

While it is important to understand the full range of how relationships affect one s life, it is essential
that each relationship type gets the full attention that it deserves. One of the types of relationships that

Now that we know the difference between hooking up and a friends with benefits relationship we can
go into detail on this type of interaction. Friends with benefits, in its essence, is an agreement between
two people who are friends and are attracted to one another, so much so, that they are able to have an
on going sexual relationship without any demands or expectations. Because both participants were
friends before any sexual activities took place, they hold a type of respect and compassion towards
one another which neither person would want to mistreat. This is why this type of relationship requires
a lot of pre sex discussion and setting of boundaries. This agreement allows BOTH participants to be
aware that they are only having sex together to compensate each other s lack of affection from
elsewhere and sexual needs. This is convenient sex with no commitment. Other ground rules are
discussed such as being open to see other people without jealousy issues, who will be allowed to know
about the arrangement, and whether it will continue into any other relationship one or the other may
want in the future. The main reason why this relationship is so tricky is because there is a bond
between both people. These two people do care for one another and enjoy each other just not as much
as a romantic relationship.

from miscellaneous spare parts. The U.S claims that the EU s anti GM food policy violates free trade
laws.
Many questions remain regarding the future of GM foods. Should they continue to be sold in the U.S.,
even though they may have unforeseen negative consequences? Or should the U.S. take a cue from the
EU and limit the selling of GM foods until they are unequivocally proven to be risk free? Do the
possible future health benefits of GM foods such as fruits and vegetables with extra vitamins and
vaccines built into their DNA cancel out any potential risks that the new technology brings?
Supporters of GM foods say that since there has been no evidence of GM foods harming humans, it is
reasonable to assume that they are safe for consumption. GM food backers denounce criticism of
genetic engineering as fear mongering. Besides, they argue, no new technology is without a certain
degree of risk. GM food supporters believe that the possible health benefits of GM foods overwhelm
any possible dangers.
Supporters of biotech crops also maintain that if GM food technology is allowed to develop, it may
prove to be instrumental in eliminating world hunger.

Similarities Between Tim Collins And Martin Luther King
Introduction:
Persuasive speeches are used to convince the audience about a speaker point on view of a particular
subject. Persuasive speeches contain evidence and facts to keep the speech formal. Two persuasive
speeches are Tom Collins , Eve of Battle, and Martin Luther King s anti war speech, Beyond Vietnam.
Each of these speeches are about war, one speech, Tim Collins urges troops into war, while the other
by Martin Luther King is an anti war speech. Tim Collins war speech is targeted towards Western
soldiers fighting in the Iraq conflict. Martin Luther Kings speech is focused towards people that are
not in the army and who are against war. Tim Collins war speech is more successful than Kings , as it
addresses the correct audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An emotional appeal is a method of persuasion that s designed to create an emotional response. Martin
Luther King uses a different emotional settings and devices. Martin Luther King uses emotional
appeal to make the audience feel connected and to make them feel as if they can change society. For
example, Martin Luther King opens his speech by directly addressing to the society, It s time for
America to tell the truth. As of the hidden truths of America. Soldiers in the 20th century were sent
into war zones without knowing much of their operation. By repeating truth it engages the audience
into wanting to know the secrets of America and building up in emotion. Martin Luther King creates
emotional setting through evidence and examples of the suffering that both soldiers, women and
children are put through and the devastation caused in the aftermath. Therefore, men and women
should be able to make decisions of their own instead of the government applying pressure on people
into fighting in wars. In contrast to Martin Luther King, Tim Collins uses emotional appeal
immediately at the start of his speech and involves his audience. Tim Collins expressed emotional
appeal in more of a serious matter as of he and his soldiers are heading into war and he does not use
emotional appeal that well, he mainly speaks in a dry voice sounding dramatic. Therefore, Martin
Luther Kings speech

How Managed Care Is A System Managed care is a system that puts together the financing and delivery of apposite health care by means of an all inclusive set of services (Docteur, E., Oxley, H. 2003). Although, managed care can be considered an expansive term that covers many form of organizations and insurance alternative that includes Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), that provides a wide ranging option of services, over a period f time and at a fixed rate. Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), that consist of a group of hospitals, physicians and providers who are in agreement with an insurer, third party administrator, employer, or other group so as to provide health care services to covered individuals; Point of Service Plans (POSs), that combines the features of the HMO s and PPO s. with this plan members can select which preference they want to use at the time of service; Indemnity or Fee for Service Plans that integrates the characteristics of managed care, while providing the benefits in a prearranged amount for covered services; Self Insurance Plans that allows employers and businesses assume financial liability and the responsibilities of an insurer for their own employees. In the last four decade, the cost of healthcare services has been on the rise, thereby leading to the promulgation of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 (Salmon, J. W. 1995). But the news spread quickly each time gold was found in this area around Pike s Peak. The first miners who found gold in Colorado didn t even stop to claim it. A seal from the Indus Valley has left historians and archeologists puzzled about its possible meanings. Archeologists believe the seal could represent a particular business, or even a prominent individual. The seals found could signify trade and commerce amongst villages, representing their leaders, a sacrificial ritual, or protection and procreation. In some ancient societies seals were used for printing an image on a document or product. In the Indus Valley the seals often have images of animals and some kind of title or inscription. Unfortunately the language written on these seals is still undeciphered. The specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To illustrate, the Indus civilization flourished a thousand years later than the Middle East and North Africa. So these huge civilizations were already dominating the area, leaving the Indus Valley in the shadows. Then Indian or South Asian civilizations moved toward the plains of the Ganges River, which archeologists believed covered all that remained of the Indus (p.103). The Indus Valley began to decline around 1700 B.C.E and was not rediscovered until the twentieth century. Therefore decades passed before any recognition of the Indus Valley, causing erosion and wear on the artifacts and history of the valley. All scholars have really uncovered are the advanced cities and neighborhoods they made. This leaves a lot of room for potential explanations about the civilization and their lives. Moreover, the script written on the seals found are unrecognizable and archeologists cannot decode the language. The language written on these seals is unlike any other dialect. In addition, our mindset compared to the people of the Indus Valley is worlds apart. A plausible reason why people cannot decipher these intricate seals is our mind are overcomplicating their meanings. I think we perplex, or over simplify, their dialect. We are so in the dark about the interpretations of this ancient civilization and their seals because the Indus Valley is foreign to us. Limited archeologist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reliability Based Cost Model Essay Reliability Based Cost Model Development As it is of December 2017, AWST contracts Romax for wind farm Operation and Maintenance costs estimates. The motivation for contracting Romax instead of performing an estimate ourselves is that Romax can do a better job than AWST due to a larger database of failure modes and deeper expertise. Due to this reason, AWST does not have a model that could have ingested the data even if it was available that is an additional barrier for in house cost model. This memo will lay down the difficulties and the way to overcome them to create an in house reliability based cost model. An additional benefit of pursuing reliability statistics is the enhanced suitability review that could flag potential component ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a numerical implementation, this equation can be written in vector matrix form below. ψ(P ⃗ )=f^1 (P ⃗ )+∫_T▒〖ψ(P ⃗ )K((P ) ⃗,P ⃗ )d(P ) ⃗ 〗 ψ(P ⃗ )= event density for a state vector P at time t. f^1 (P ⃗ ) = first state probability ψ(P ⃗ ) = event density at time t K((P ) ⃗,P ⃗ )= state transition kernel. This equation looks complicated but it is based only on the Weibull failure distribution and Markov matrices process which some people of our team are very familiar with. Alternatively, a simple Monte Carlo simulation for two states up and down can be calculated using the Weibull failure distribution described below. Developing an algorithm to process the time in operating, failing, and failed condition for each of the components is the key element for the cost modeling. This effort should go in parallel with obtaining the Weibull distributions for each of the components described below. A feedback should be obtained from Brian Kramak and Stephen Lightfoote to quantify the time and effort required for developing Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Weibull Distribution Most of the failure modes follow a two parameter Weibull failure distribution as shown below. F(t)=1 exp[ (t/η(X) )^β ] η(X)=characteristic life (scale parameter) β=Weibull slope (shape parameter) β is obtained through Weibull Log fit from field data. η(X) is obtained through fitting a Weibull Log Linear model (also known as Weibull regression or Weibull proportional hazards). ... • 6. Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating for Leisure,... Structural techniques play a huge role in many poems due to the fact that structure sometimes reflects what is happening in the poem. This can clearly be seen with all the poems, in Remember and Do not go gentle into that good night a strict, tight and ridged structure and this helps reinforce the meaning that the poets are trying to portray. With Do not go gentle the structure of the poem in some respects contrasts what is actually happening with Dylan Thomas, with father dying; his head is all over the place but the structure is tight and strict. Villanelles are very traditional strict structures and the message that is portrayed through Do not go gentle contrasts it as it is an untraditional message. In addition to this the ... Even though it is not evident we could interpret that the mother in the poem is becoming hysterical and agitated and due to the fact that her she needs to Carefully part it . This is because the child is, as we find out later on, is dying. As for the readers, they are anxious due to the fact that Chinua Achebe slowly drip feeds information to the reader allowing many different interpretations and events to evolve in the readers mind. As for E for L the lack of strict and ridged structure and the quick evolution of the structure in some aspects mimic the thought process of the character within the poem. The character within the poem is psychotic and his mind is all over the place j, on top of that his killing tendencies and his thirst for murder quickly evolves from a fly to a goldfish to a human just like structure quickly evolves. This lack of strict poetic structure allows for the poet to get the readers full attention and for them to grasp the reader and get their message about death across in the most effective way possible. Finally In The man he killed and Havisham a cyclical structure is used and this helps reinforce the meaning that the poet is trying to portray. With The man he killed the structure reinforces the dilemma that the character is facing as he has killed a man; his head is all over the place but the structure is tight and traditional and this can be seen with the ABAB rhyme scheme. Professional Singers Enhanced Voice Quality As a result of training, professional singers enhanced voice quality may be related to respiratory, aerodynamic, phonatory, and resonatory/articulatory adjustments. Singers are often trained to onset voicing at varying lung volumes (LVs) to produce voice qualities that are both perceptually pleasing and aerodynamically efficient. The goal of most professional vocal training is determined perceptually by a voice teacher to approach an ideal voice quality for a specific genre (e.g. opera, belt, etc.). If the employees see the full facts and solve the misunderstandings, resistance should subside. This can be done by allowing the employees to develop and form the plans to introduce changes with him which would allow for enhanced participation and acceptance of the change as the employees would have a sense of ownership in the change made which will make it much easier for them to conform once everyone is on board for the decision. Eitel should also make sure that all changes are fair to everyone and do not come of as being biased which could create discrepancies among the workers. Analysis Of Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner Jasmine Schumer Mrs.Odle Pre Ap English II 6th hour 30 November 2016 Forgiving Yourself According to dictionary.com, Forgive means to cease to feel resentment against. This one word is what many people struggle with. People have a hard time forgiving other people but more often themselves. Amir knows just how hard it is to forgive yourself in The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. When Amir makes the decision to not speak up about Hassan he felt so much guilt that he wanted Hassan and Ali to leave, he regretted it instantly. Years later, Rahim khan called Amir and asked him to come back to Afghanistan where he found out Hassan was his half brother. Amir finally forgave himself when he found a way to make up for his mistakes. Hosseini portrays Amir as a morally ambiguous character by his guilt and inability to forgive himself for what he did to Hassan. Morally ambiguous characters become challenged by a dilemma that will test their mental strength. Amir s choice to not speak up about what happened shows his betrayal to his friendship with Hassan. Hosseini displays Amir as Morally ambiguous when Ali asks did something happen to him, Amir Agha? Something he s not telling me? [Amir] shrugged. How should I know ( Hosseini 81).While Amir is saying he doesn t know, he is internally arguing with himself about if he should say something or not. Walt is a veteran of the Korean war where he won the silver star medal in 1952. The penultimate scene is the climax of the film where Walt confronts the Hmong gang, this holds a lot of significance. Another symbol in the scene is when Walt has been shot, he is lying in a crucifix position with a lighter in his hand. Blood begins to trickle down. The lighter is a war souvenir and represents his only weapon in the scene. Both of these symbols are used one after the other. The cigarette is in Walt s hand while he is standing on the lawn while the crucifix is in the moments after Walt has been shot. The symbols create meaning to Walt and his background as smoking is the reason he is ill and the crucifix as his wife was religious yet he was not but wanted to feel free of his sins before passing, the position also showed sacrifice. • 11. Women s Rights in the 19th Century and Now Essay It would be a huge understatement to say that many things have changed when it comes to women s rights, positions, and roles in our society today since the 19th century. Actually, very few similarities remain. Certain family values, such as specific aspects of domesticity and performance of family duties are amongst the only similarities still present. Victorian women had several hardships to overcome. Education, marriage, leisure, and travel amongst other things were limited and controlled. A woman was never to travel if not in the company of her parents or husband. Leisure, for example, was limited and a woman always had to look busy and find something to do. They did not have the right to vote, sue or own any property. Their bodies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This resulted in her share of criticism from the media and her readers. In a time when it was expected of a woman to behave a certain way and sexual desire was considered something only experienced by men, Kate Chopin spoke with exceptional openness about human sexuality. She then criticized society for its close mindedness. She helped to generate enlightened attitudes among both the women and men of her time. By not only admitting the fact that a woman has strong sexual desires, but also glorifying it, Chopin opened doors to better communication and understanding between men and women as a result of The Storm. This has changed significantly since the 19th century. Sex, amongst others, is no longer taboo to women and it has become a much more liberated subject. It is encouraged and accepted in today s society that a woman enjoys sexual pleasures outside the restraints of only pregnancy, even marriage. Women in the Victorian era had very little to say when it came to marriage. Usually, the parents of the woman would make the choice for her as to whom she would marry based on a man s social status. It was not odd for a 15 year old girl to wed, unlike in today s society. Parents would usually look for a man who was wealthy enough to help the woman advance in her life, since women were mostly uneducated and only taught to be homemakers and mothers and not work. In Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naïve. His creation, the monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any circumstances. Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into enthusiasm (34). Have you ever read a story that reduced you to tears or genuinely made you laugh out loud? Through the years, writers have utilized literary elements such as plot twists, foreshadowing, and the three types of irony situational, dramatic, and verbal as well as characterization, misdirection, and tone to play with the emotions of their readers. Today, we are going to focus on plot twists, situational irony, and tone by exploring and analyzing two short stories. The Machine That Won the War and The Interlopers are two short stories that employ plot twists, situational irony, and tone to very different ends. Plot twist is used in The Machine That Won the War; throughout the story, the three characters have been discussing Multivac, the machine that won the war (1). Different characters reveal different pieces of information, causing the reader to believe that men won the war or that a different machine was the true victor (1). In the ending, Asimov surprises the reader by causing Swift to reveal that a simple coin toss won the war not a machine at all (1). Swift is is dramatic in his revelation, taking his dear sweet time explaining what machine won the war (1). Finally, he flips a coin and turns to his companions, asking: Heads or tails, gentlemen? • 19. Gender Bias In Sports In society, we see that women and minorities are negatively biased. For women, people are biased against them because people think that women cannot do a job that is considered a man`s job, or they aren`t strong enough to do specific tasks. Women are judged when they are playing sports like soccer because reporters would ask them how is it like playing with other girls? It s as their almost saying, Are you ok with girls that might be lesbian? There is also a bias for minorities as well because of there is a society filled with the same race or gender, and then people from all over the world start to accumulate, some people might fear that their jobs are at stake because the minority are trying to assimilate to society and are trying to find jobs that are worthy for them to succeed in. Even though for minorities, you see them areas of work, they are starting to expand their horizon and make a name for themselves not just limited to specific jobs. Letting this go entirely probably won`t happen but if society learns to corporate with different cultures and backgrounds, they are small steps to be made but society has to start somewhere. The idea that I will be focusing on is sports and how the industry has the power to dictate who will likely win in the sport based on the culture of the specific game. Even though sports have come a long way from how it was observed in the past, the players who are in a higher class than other players usually have the upper hand and win. ... In other words, watching how representatives of different genders deal with different things, people conclude that they are fundamentally different from each other. At the same time, gender stereotypes are the mechanism for maintaining gender roles: beliefs about the unique qualities and distinctive features of a particular gender are used to justify the need to behave in accordance with the appropriate gender role. The United Nations considers this problem global and encourages States to modify existing gender model, preserving a system of unequal values and double standards. In terms of gender mainstreaming, gender based discrimination and gender inequality are the major problems in the labor market, which leave their mark on the development of individual regions and the country ... One side of the spectrum embodies the ideals of brotherhood, collective being, and addresses the social and political aspects affecting the people of society as Kanye explained formerly as spoken word. The other side demands the artist to live through the art of self gratification by any means necessary or as Kanye put it, being able to buy 80 gold chains and go ig nant. Some may argue that the art of compromise in the commercialization of rap music has been compromised by self proclaimed fashion mogul, and egotistical rap artist, Kanye West. He s one of the most virtuous and artistically driven rappers in the game, with goals much bigger just dropping albums. In 2004, College Dropout was the album that brought the combative soul producer from Chicago into the hip hop conversation. It sold 2.6 million copies and won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. On Ye s classic, he addressed his personal struggles of insecurity, conforming to social norms, spirituality, materialism, consumerism, family and personal relationships, near death experiences, and his rags to riches story. Comparison Of King Richard III And Looking For Richard To understand the complexity of the lineage of the English monarchy, it is imperative to make a connection between present values and those of the past. While contemporary society demonstrate an appreciation of William Shakespeare s play King Richard III (1851) it is not one of his plays they can readily connect with. Al Pacino s docu drama, Looking for Richard, (henceforth Looking for...) (1996) attempts to bridge that gap through intertextual connections. Both composers elucidate their respective contexts through their exploration of the English monarch, King Richard III, through their representation of the Elizabethan struggle for power and Pacino s attempts to connect the post modern world to the 16th century. He uses animal imagery conveyed by Richmond along with the sudden and immediate death of Richard after he is willing to trade a kingdom for a horse to show his audience that God has carried out divine retribution due to Richard s Machiavellian nature. Pacino transformed this scene so that it lead to a deeper understanding by his mainly secular 20th century audience. By undermining Richmond s inglorious victory by having the soldiers shoot an arrow into Richard s back, Pacino shows that Richard s death was unfair. He also removed Richmond s monologue to take the audience s attention away from Richmond s speech about god and the righteousness of divine retribution. Now that we know the difference between hooking up and a friends with benefits relationship we can go into detail on this type of interaction. Friends with benefits, in its essence, is an agreement between two people who are friends and are attracted to one another, so much so, that they are able to have an on going sexual relationship without any demands or expectations. Because both participants were friends before any sexual activities took place, they hold a type of respect and compassion towards one another which neither person would want to mistreat. This is why this type of relationship requires a lot of pre sex discussion and setting of boundaries. This agreement allows BOTH participants to be aware that they are only having sex together to compensate each other s lack of affection from elsewhere and sexual needs. This is convenient sex with no commitment. Other ground rules are discussed such as being open to see other people without jealousy issues, who will be allowed to know about the arrangement, and whether it will continue into any other relationship one or the other may want in the future. The main reason why this relationship is so tricky is because there is a bond between both people. These two people do care for one another and enjoy each other just not as much as a romantic relationship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
