102 Minutes By Kevin Flynn And Jim Dwyer
102 Minutes by Kevin Flynn and Jim Dwyer is a factual book that describes the events that occurred
in the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks. The book itself is named 102 minutes because of
the 102 minutes people had to evacuate the World Trade Center before it came down. Before writing
this book, a team of a few people interviewed over 200 survivors and witnesses of 9/11 and researched
historical facts, radio transmissions, phone messages, and emails from the day of the attack. This book
aims to tell what happened solely from the perspective of people inside the building and the people
who rushed to help them such as the New York Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency
Medical Service, and more. It describes the simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

buildings. Luckily the South tower had some extra time to spare since it was hit second. This chapter
also features text messages from people in the South building who are confused with unclear
understandings of what was happening. Some people refused to evacuate until they knew exactly what
was going on, others rushed to get out of the building as fast as possible. Another chapter Mom, I m

them about what was happening incase they weren t already informed. It also features phone calls of
people who were in trouble and trapped above the impacted floors that needed rescuing. This chapter
was really draining in the fact that these were some of the last words and phone calls people made out

My Observation Of My Preschool Observation
The purpose of my Preschool Observation is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a
head start school setting. The child s name is Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the
child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is to
objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full
descriptive details. My observation of the three year old preschool is to explain the domains of
development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six
developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic,
cognitive, emotional, and social domains.
I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named
Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam attends head start, which he has attended the school
since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom
sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into
play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and play with, share, and interest areas for differing
purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for dramatic
play with a doll house, child sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an
area rug with bright colors. The dramatic play area is a cabinet,

The Holderness Coastline Essay examples
The Holderness Coastline
The infamous Holderness Coastline is located on the East coast of Yorkshire, stretching from
Flamborough Head to Spurn Point. In the last 2000 years the coastline has retreated by almost 400m
and since Roman times over 28 villages have disappeared into the sea between Bridlington and Spurn
Head. About a million years ago the Yorkshire coastline was a line of chalk cliffs almost 32km west of
where it now is. During the Ice Age deposits of soft boulder clay were built up against these cliffs to
form the new coastline. It is this soft sand and clay which is easily eroded by the action of waves, as
the ocean slowly claims back the region it used to occupy.

This is evident at both Great Cowden and Easington.
The Holderness Coastline is also extremely exposed with little protection. The original coastline
before the ice age consisted mainly of chalk, and is still present today at Flamborough Head where a
headland has formed as chalk is much more resistant to coastal erosion than the boulder clay. This
outcrop of land provides some shelter, although it is minimal, as the stretch of coastline down to Spurn
Head is over 50km long, most experiencing almost head on dominant waves. The coastline is also
exposed to strong North/North East winds, which co enside with a rather generous fetch. Destructive
waves are a result, which erode the beaches and attack the foot of the cliffs, removing masses of clay
in suspension, resulting in strong marine erosion.
The material eroded and transported elsewhere results in little material left to form beaches, which act
as a barrier to protect the cliff line from tides, currents and storms, therefore the sea s processed are
able to keep cutting back the cliff line.
The weather also has a large influence. Often there are winter storm surges producing higher waves,
and higher sea levels, meaning higher energy erosion. In addition is increased sub aerial denudation
brought about by the heavy rain and strong winds. This often leads to increased slumping and

What Makes Balzac Capitalism
Balzac s Capitalism: The Tragedy of Moral Destruction or Corrupt Success
In his novel Père Goriot, Honoré de Balzac depicts capitalism as inherently tragic in that it creates a
society of considerable opportunity solely for individuals who become immoral in order to fulfill their
desires. Utilizing the protagonist for whom the book is named, Père Goriot, Balzac is able to highlight
the success of those who exploit others, both in Goriot s own success as a merchant, and in his
daughters success in exploiting his love for them. One of the crucial parallels here is self absorbed
desire, the culprit of both Goriot s success and downfall. Originally, Goriot was selfish: he
accumulated his wealth by capitalizing on inflated grain prices from falsified food shortages, thus
exploiting people when they were dying of hunger, killing each other for bread (Balzac 79 80). As
immoral as it is, this extreme form of self centrism is necessary in capitalism, according to Balzac,
who makes a point to illustrate this necessity by immediately juxtaposing the successes of Goriot s
self serving passion for wealth with the downfalls of his altruistic passion for his daughters: [O]ne of
[Goriot s] competitors, wanting Goriot out of the way...told him that Delphine had just been run over
by a cab. [...] [Goriot] was ill for several days as a reaction to the conflicting emotions aroused by this
false alarm. (81) The tragedy of this is that it was Goriot s selflessness, rather than his selfishness,

College Is A Major Commitment Of Time And Money
College is a major commitment of time and money, but it s also a down payment on success. Earning a
college degree will help a person realize their goals in their career and life in general. It requires a lot
of hard work but it s work that will prepare a person for a challenging and rewarding career and a
more fruitful life. According to studies, college gradates earn significantly more money throughout
their lives than those that have settled for a high school diploma. According to a national report by the
Higher Education Executive Officers Association, high school graduates earn an average of almost
$30,000 per year. Bachelor s graduates earn an average of just over $50,000 per year. And those with a
higher level degree like master s, doctorate, and professional average at about $70,000 per year. This
reveals a significant earning gap over the course of a person s life. Jobs that require a bachelor s,
master s, doctoral or professional degrees tend to also provide more benefits. These benefits include
health care, retirement investment, travel and other perks. These kinds of benefits are rarely offered
for high school level jobs. A 2008 report produced by College Board showed that roughly 70 percent
of individuals with a four year college degree received health insurance from their employers while
less than 50 percent of employees with only a high school diploma received the same benefits. Aside
from training in a field of expertise, college education equips people

American Dream Identity
The American identity has evolved throughout centuries of oppression and obligation. Race and
cultural differences rip through the seams of the meaning of American identity, while it has inevitably
been forged from its true origins. An evolution of jazz, art and influencers portray the true meaning of
what it is to be an American. Idealisms and morals have drastically changed over the past few
centuries, and they continue to evolve every single day. Every person has an individual and unique
meaning of what it is to be an American, even though many of us do not share the same traits and
beliefs. In America today, the American Dream has changed drastically. We strive for individualism as
well as wealth and prosperity throughout our entire community, although we do still have salient
matters to work on. It was not always like this, though, because as a nation we grew together through
slavery, racism, and immense violence/protest. Slavery has been dated back to as early as 1619, when
the first African Americans were brought to Jamestown, Virginia to assist in the growth of tobacco and
crops. The American identity was struck from its original meanings when this began, as it started to
become evident that there is not a country in world history in which racism has been more important,
for so long a time, as the United States, (Zinn, 35). We were no longer a country of one, while we
were harshly separated after the color line (Zinn, 35) became

The Supreme Law Of The Land
The Executive Branch which carries out laws by the President of the United States, Vice President and
Cabinet, whereas the Legislative Branch is where the Congress makes the laws. With each branch
being able to change the acts of the other branches, this is only if a president vetoes a law that
Congress has passed or if the Justice of Supreme Courts overturns an unconstitutional law and if
Congress accepts (USA.gov). Even though the connection among Congress and the President of the
United States is far different then the Founders imagined set forth in the Constitution, for many reason
the presidency assumed more power than the legislative branch over time.
The Constitution in all its glory holds, as the supreme law of the land , in that it controls the limits of
power that the legislative and executive branches have (Arnold 4). Before the Constitution the
executive branch had no provisions to implement the laws and no national court system to translate
them (U.S. Department of State). Then with the Articles of Confederation and the period in between
the drafting of the Constitution in 1787, was the only national government, the legislation congress
(U.S. Department of State). As the executive branch being the biggest branch in the federal
government it also seen as the most powerful as the President of the United States is at the head
(Arnold 13). Since the President of the United States governs the executive branch, article II states the

Crooks Isolation
The novella Of mice and men takes place in salinas valley, California during the Great Depression . At
this time work was scarce which caused many men to work as farm hands. Steinbeck illustrates these
migrant workers well using two male characters, George and Lennie. Who begin work at a farm,
where they meet who also are isolated. Although George, Crooks, and Curley s wife are all isolated,
the each try to make a connection with others: however, tragically in the end their attempts are
meaningless.
Although George traveled with Lennie throughout his life he is not able to call him a friend more than
a child. Due to mental disabilities and the death of his Aunt Clara, George has taken the role of

Born of African American descent, his isolation is only worsened from his childhood where he was the
only black child playing in a group of white children. Crooks father didn t like that he hung around a
bunch of white children, however Crooks being so young he didn t know about the racism around him.
When he is speaking to lennie in the barn, he tells him that, A guy needs somebody to be near him. he
whined, a guy goes nuts if he ain t got nobody. Don t make no difference who the guy is, long s he s
with you. I tell ya, he cried, i tell ya a guy gets too lonely an he gets sick. (72 73). This quote from
Crooks explains how crook feels, and has felt for most of his life. Crook explains that everyone just
needs someone to be with throughout their life, growing up with racism in the world has made Crooks
believe that he can t make a connection to anyone ultimately leaving him alone at the farm for the rest
of his life.
Curley s wife, the only woman to be introduced in person in this novella, is not especially a main
character, only having a few lines in the book however she does act as a reference to the common
theme of isolation happening all over the world. Near the ending pages of the book, when she appears
in the barn with Lennie she says to him why can t i talk to you? I get awful lonely. (86). Curley s wife
admits that she gets very lonely at times, being stuck in the house most of

teach Lynda the proper care of her PEG tube, and to continue with the encouragement of her
suctioning herself. After walking her though a bolus feeding in the morning, she agreed to do the next
one. Lunch time came around and sure enough, she was able to complete the bolus feeding with
minimum assistance. By the time came for the next feeding she was going to get the can of food to do
it herself when I had walked in the room. She laughed and told me I was right that the PEG tube was a
lot easier than suctioning. At this point in Lynda s stay I knew that she would be going home soon.
Later that evening, while discussing Lynda s progress over the last few days with the physicians I
asked them what the plan was and instructed them that we needed to get nutrition, social work, and
case management involved so that she could go home. The physicians stated that they would place the
consults that I requested but as for discharge they were unsure about when this would happen because
Lynda s brother doesn t think she can care for herself on her own. I was shocked to hear this, the

The Heroes Of Gilgamesh, Rama, And Aeneas
There have been many heroes throughout history, but only the ones with the best qualities are able to
stand out and deserving of their memory to live on through stories and monuments. They display
qualities that are morally accepted and generally a man with a mission. Gilgamesh, Rama, and Aeneas
come from Mesopotamian, Hindu, and Roman culture, respectively, and they all display heroic traits
that make them deserving of a monument in their memory. Gilgamesh, especially, who at first to the
people was not a deserving figure to have his accomplishments recalled to later generations.
Gilgamesh has his own flaws like anyone else, but his actions concerning courageousness and bravery
make him stick out from other heroes. When Gilgamesh declares, because of the evil that is in the
land, we will go to the forest, and destroy the evil; for in the forest lives Humbaba (Dalley, 67), it
shows that Gilgamesh is not afraid of challenging even the most ferocious creatures that threaten him
and the people around him like Aeneas when his town was being raided. Aeneas knew his duty was to
protect his people, and it was better to die in battle, and have his name remembered for his bravery in
protecting Troy. A true hero fights to the end and does everything he is capable to accomplish what
must be done. Even if he is to fall, Gilgamesh states, I leave behind me a name that endures (Dally,
67). Gilgamesh lives this quote out when he chooses to go fight Humbaba with Enkidu; he also lives

Briefly Present The Aim Of The Article Or Book Chapter
Briefly present the aim of the article or book chapter and summarize the main findings/key points,
along with a limited number of examples. The article that I chose relates to sundownng and tips that
can be used to reduce it from the Mayo Clinic Website. Sundowning occurs with dementia patients
and can cause a variety of issues and behaviors such as confusion, wandering, and aggression to name
a few examples. In addition, there were many articles on this subject and from looking at several of
them it can be confusing because this is one topic that requires more research because many things are
unknown about sundowning syndrome. The term sundowning refers to a state of confusion occurring
in the late afternoon and spanning into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What new insights I have gained is that it is important to look at the factors that may cause
sundowning in each person because factors that may be a part of sundowning could be different for
each resident and it must not be looked at the same for everyone. For example, if a resident has a
urinary tract infection or some other medical condition that contributes to sundowning that would
need to be addressed. If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day confusion
different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the same. Of course, sundowning
can affect people differently such as types of behaviors that might occur and it would be important to
know what those behaviors are especially if it is aggression. The social worker, nurses, CNA s and
others that work with the resident would need to be careful if someone gets aggressive and know what
to do for safety reasons. In addition, by knowing to look for the factors that could be causing it
measures can be taken to try to address it or prevent it beforehand that would be the best practice.
Tips for reducing sundowning:
Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities.
Plan for activities and exposure to light during the day to encourage nighttime sleepiness.
Limit daytime napping.
Limit caffeine and sugar to morning hours.
Keep a night light on to reduce agitation that occurs when surroundings are dark or unfamiliar.

Why Do Monosaccharaides Contain Aldehyde
In the first test for monosaccharaides using Benedict s solution, glucose was the positive control and it
turned a brownish red color. Water was the negative control and it stayed blue which was the color of
the Benedict s reagent (Benedicts test image 1). This supports the hypothesis that monosaccharaides
contain aldehyde groups. Three disaccharides, maltose, sucrose and lactose were tested next for a free
aldehyde group, which would mean they were reducing sugars according to the hypothesis. Maltose
and lactose both turned brownish red which means they are reducing sugars and sucrose did not
change colors which means it tested negative and is a non reducing sugar (Benedicts test image 2).

Joseph Henry lived from 1797 to 1878. Of Scottish decent, Henry was a son of a day laborer in

interested in theatre and was offered employment as a professional actor, but instead he attended
Albany Academy where he was provided with free tuition. He has always been interested in science

If a current is flowing, self inductance tends to keep it from building up. Henry found that self
inductance is greatly affected by the configuration of the circuit, especially the coiling of the wire. He
also discovered how to make non inductive windings by folding the wire back on itself.
At the same time Henry was doing all this, another physicist, Michael Faraday was doing similar work
in England. Henry was slow in publishing his results and was unaware of Faraday s work, therefore
Faraday is recognized as the discoverer of mutual inductance, which is the basis of transformers, while
Henry is only accredited for the discovery of self inductance.
At the age of 35, Yale s geologist, Benjamin Silliman, was consulted regarding the possible
appointment of Henry to Princeton. Silliman s response was negative in saying that Henry has no
superior in our country, and Henry, who was modest, defended the fact that he never graduated any

The Beginning of Tattoos
When Did Tattoos Begin? Tattoos are not a new fad that grew over night. Tattooing has been a form of
art that people have used to communicate with for ages. Whether it is a family crest, a butterfly, or a
zodiac sign, all tattoos have meaning in which someone can tell a story. The history of tattoos goes as
far back as the first people who roamed this Earth. Tattoos have been around for so long that no
historian or archaeologist can precisely trace back to when and where tattooing began.
From the Beginning of Time In Archaeologists Jarrett Lobell and Eric Powell s study of tattoos,
Ancient Tattoos, they make the case that ...body art has been a meaningful form of expression
throughout the ages and across the world (41). Lobell and Powell have studied body modifications on
ancient artifacts and mummies all over the world, such as, Italy, Egypt, and Oceania. Depending on
the time and geographic location that these body modifications were given, they could have a number
of meanings, such as, ...adornment, status symbol, or declaration of religious belief (Lobell and Powell
41). Since the art of tattooing has been around for over a great number of years, it would be quite
difficult to pinpoint exactly where the very first tattoo was given and what the meaning behind it was.
One of the earliest forms of tattoos was traced back to 3500 3100 B.C., which included charcoal that
was rubbed into small incisions in the skin. This early form of tattooing was found on Ötzi the

Examples Of Funny Memories With Anton
Funny memories with Anton (True Story)
By Richard Nata
My best friend named Antonius, we used to call him by the name of Anton. Anton, I ll always
remember funny stories with you.
No day without laughing while studying together Anton. We both had some physical similarity,
namely Chinese, handsome, thin, short, bespectacled and love to make people laugh. We fell together
because there was an oil spill on the road so that the motorcycle was driven Anton fell on the road.
When falling, we feel like the riders are being dropped in circuit racing. Our downfall on the road no
less intense with the fall of Valentino Rossi on the racing circuit. People shout to see us fall.
They ran away to our place. We wake up and said, It s okay, everything ... Show more content on

So, we went home before the game ended.
The next day, Anton told me, yesterday really happen real fights between the participants of the game.
I really regret not being able to see a real fight. I can only imagine the fight was like a story in the
movie The Karate Kid.
When did I ask how the end results? Anton tells if they won the game. But after the game is finished,
then their Dojo fight with others Dojo elsewhere.
The question now is if I and Anton still there, whether both of us will be beaten like in the movie The
Karate Kid? Due to the shots of the two of us which caused the match to be the hot atmosphere. I also
do not know the answer. :)
There are still a lot of stories about me and Anton is not told here due to the limited number of words.
To date I will never forget has had a friend named Antonius because we have experienced no day
without laughing while still in college with him.
Anton now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. While I lived in Tangerang, Indonesia.

Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet
Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet
In Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet, the quick witted character Mercutio is a notorious scene
stealer (Utterback 105). Mercutio s major function in the play is to be a catalyst for the plot. Mercutio
s purpose as a character is most significantly revealed in his relationship with Romeo, his baiting of
Tybalt, and his death. More importantly, Mercutio functions as the catalyst for the pattern of disasters
in the play that follows his own tragic death, making him, as described by critic Stephen Greenblatt a
spirit that seems to challenge the very possibility of romantic love or tragic destiny (856).
Mercutio s role in the play is directly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mercutio urges Romeo to end his romantic relationships. Mercutio tells Romeo If thou are dun we ll
draw thee from the mire / Of save your reverence love, wherein though stickest / Up to the ears
(I.iv.41 43). Mercutio scorns the romantic love and relationships that weaken their friendship.
Mercutio s bawdry and scorn are seen as especially ill mannered because he expresses it in an age
celebrating domesticity and middle class marriage (Porter 34). The connection of Mercutio s name to
the misogynistic god Mercury supports his view of love and relationships (Porter 38). Mercutio s
Mercurian message is that Romeo should stay with, or come back to, the world of male comradeship
(Porter 107).
Furthermore, Mercury was a troublesome, quick to anger, and swift messenger. Likewise, Mercutio is
hot headed and quick to act. Mercutio s need for action and his ridiculing nature are also seen in his
aggressive baiting of Tybalt. At first, Mercutio seems almost excited to see Romeo fight Tybalt in Act
Three, Scene One. And but one word with one of us? Couple it with / something; make it a word and a
blow (III.i.35 36). However, Romeo does not give in to Tybalt s insults and does not accept Tybalt s
challenge to fight. The passive Romeo instead wants love and peace with Tybalt because of his love
for Juliet.
I do protest I never injured thee,
But love thee better than thou canst

The Affordable Care Act And Emergency Medical Services
The Affordable Care Act and Emergency Medical Services
Each year in the United States approximately 114 million people visit their local Emergency
Department (ED), and 16 million of these patients arrive by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
(Board et al.) Health care in America has moved from an individual, fee for service health care
system, towards a more integrated healthcare system i.e., The Affordable Care Act (ACA), which is a
government controlled healthcare system, and is set up to be a value based payment system. The ACA
will expand and transform the roles of EMS within the healthcare system. EMS s ability to survive
and thrive in this new era of healthcare, will revolve, in part, on its ability to articulate its value to
healthcare providers, healthcare organizations, hospital systems, and payers, as well as patients and
family members. (Smith) EMS can thrive in the future, if it embraces change. John F. Kennedy had
this to say about change, Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are
certain to miss the future. (BrainyQuote) In order for EMS to thrive in the changes that the future is
bringing, it must: focus on mobile integrated healthcare, be data driven in their clinical practices.
There are three other areas that will be discussed at length, EMS agencies should be actively pursuing
a community paramedicine program, EMS using remote telemedicine and EMS moving towards a
value based payment system.

Prior to independence and up to 2001, the principal tax collection agencies were known as the
Department of Taxes and the Department of Customs and Excise. The Department of Taxes was
charged with the collection of corporate tax, sales tax, personal income tax, capital gains tax, etc,
while the department of Customs and Excise s duty collected border taxes and the so called sin taxes
in the form of liquor and tobacco excise taxes. Economic reforms dictated by the IMF and the World
Bank brought in a wave of reforms in the revenue collection capacities of state and its agencies. Aside
from the introduction and implementation of user fees in services departments such as schools, clinics
and hospitals, the reforms culminated in the combination of the two key departments to form the
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), headed by a Commissioner General. ZIMRA was
established on 19 January 2001 as a successor organisation to the then Department of Taxes and the
Department of Customs and Excise following the promulgation of the Revenue Authority Act on
February 11, 2000. Among other reasons for this amalgamation were the world trends, desire to
improve efficiency by reducing bottlenecks and duplication of roles. This harmonized revenue
collection agency worked at purging corruption particularly at border posts, by implementing a

Amylase Is An Enzyme Commonly Found In Human Saliva. It
Amylase is an enzyme commonly found in human saliva. It is used to catabolize starch into glucose
and maltose by lowering the activation energy barrier, and by breaking the alpha 1 4 bonds of amylose
and amylopectin and the alpha 1 6 bonds of amylopectin. Amylase is found in one s saliva and
pancreas, and Porcrine Pancreatic α Amylase is amylase that has been isolated from the pancreas of a
pig. While amylase is effective at breaking down starch, in the normal saliva pH range of 6.02 to 7.14
(Schmidt Nielsen, 1946), any pH environment outside of this range will decrease the reaction rate. The
same goes for the temperature of the amylase s environment. At a normal body temperature of around

Through this experiment we found this prediction to be true; even though there is no true consensus on
the exact optimum pH for alpha amylase activity, all of the sources place it around 6.00 or 7.00.
Materials and Methods First, six different buffers were used and 5 mL of each buffer was added to six
different test tubes. The six buffers were as follows: pH 4.00 was Potassium Biphthalate (Item # 280
4.00), pH 5.00 was Potassium Biphthalate/ Sodium Phosphate (Item # 280 5.00), pH 6.00 was
Potassium Phosphate/ Sodium Phosphate (Item # 280 6.00), pH 7.00 was Sodium Phosphate/
Potassium Phosphate (Item # 280 7.00), pH 8.00 was Sodium Phosphate/ Potassium Phosphate (Item
# 280 8.00), pH 9.00 was Sodium Bicarbonate/ Sodium Carbonate (Item # 280 9.00). All of the
aforementioned hydrion buffer salts were obtained from Micro Essential Laboratories in Brooklyn,
NY. Secondly, 1.5 mL of a 1% w/v α Amylase solution from porcine pancreas, Type VI B, ≥10
units/mg solid, from Sigma Aldrich in St. Louis, MO, (Item # A3176 500KU) was added to each test
tube, and the solutions in the test tubes were mixed. Next, 100 μL of 2% Iodine Solution, I2KI, from

A Report On Animal Testing
Summary The case revolves around a company named Surplus Styles that manufactures hair care
products. Over the past years, the company has been focusing on providing low cost products and that
was its competitive advantage against its competitors. They choose their suppliers, who provided the
contents for their bottles. This was their main competitive bidding method. Since Surplus Styles was
focusing on providing low cost products, they did not focus on quality of the products. As a result they
were not meeting the new market demands that were trending towards products with high quality.
Now, the company is facing some issues regarding the quality of their products due to the rising
concerns of animal rights with products going through animal testing, the company needs to start
producing products that are of a high quality and not violate any of the animal rights regulations.
Since the current suppliers were providing the product on the basis of lower prices, they may not be to
supply quality product. Thus, Derick needs to figure out a way to get the good quality product and that
too very soon in order to remain in the business. (Sanders, 2011) Question 1 Identifying the steps to
solving this problem Derick Frizzle the Director of Sourcing at Surplus Styles is faced with a
challenge: his company has decided to restructure their strategic objective to align with the current
market forecast (Sanders, 2011). The main focus of the restructure is to address consumer

Simulated Prison Experiment
A Study of Prisoners and Guards in a Simulated Prison Purpose Craig Haney, Curtis Banks and Philip
Zimbardo are the authors of A Study of Prisoners and Guards in a Simulated Prison and published the
article in September 1973. The purpose of the Zimbardo Stanford Prison Experiment was to grasp a
greater knowledge of, the basic psychological mechanisms of human aggression. (Haney, Banks,
Zimbardo, 1973, pg. 1) Creating a simulated prison environment did this. During this experiment, a
greater understanding of the development in roles, labels, and social expectations was identified. The

prisoners, over an extended period of time. Although the experiment was cut short a week earlier than
planned, it shouldn t have began without a full outline of what to expect. The subjects who were
prisoners were given minimal explanation and details as per what to expect, with minimal information
being as inadequate as 3 small meals a day. The prisoners were only allotted supervised bathroom
visits, if they were earned, otherwise were not allowed to go. They were called girlies and mocked by
the prison guards, which in turn affected their need to have authority and power after the experiment
was terminated. Within real jails, inmates are allowed to have unsupervised bathroom visits, all while
maintaining security and safety and minimal invasion of privacy. (Bülow, 2014) The guards ethically

Grimm Ceramics
As a transfer student to this University I had the pleasure of prior experience with ceramics, the
medium I hold dear and near to my heart. Yet, it wasn t until I came to Southern that I realized the true
potential of this craft, for I had only ever thought of ceramics in its application of functional wares.
Over the course of my studies here at the University of Southern Mississippi I have branched out and
away from potting and into the world of Fine Art. It is here that I have been developing my skills in
both the ceramics and sculpture areas. Within each I created bodies of work disassociated from one
another in an attempt to separate my courses. However, it was through pushy professors from both
courses of study that I have been able to reach the level of craftsmanship and concept found in my
senior show.

The first of them was the only figure produced by me to retain all limbs. This was my try at achieving
a somewhat realistic representation of the human form. Shortly after completing this small piece I
realized that it is wholly unnecessary to try and replicate every detail of the original model. Taking a
look back at Grimm s works they are indeed of the figure, but there are exaggerations within the
features of her work. Not only are they exaggerated, each have a subtle reminder that they were indeed
constructed in thrown parts. Not all things figural have to be hyper, or even remotely, realistic to the
true form. With this in mind I began to dissect the figure, first with the limbs. Shaving down the limbs
to little more than nubs I found to be a visually appealing aesthetic for me, which at the time I knew
not why. Towards the end of the following summer semester the basic shape of my figures was
created. In a moment of rushed completion, I took what was intend to become one leg stump and

Essay On Elonis
In today s society, we as a nation showcase our lives through social media. The case, Elonis vs. The
United States, the petitioner, Anthony Douglas Elonis, is no different. He was an inspiring rap artist
and was using Facebook as a platform to share his lyrics. After his divorce, things got out of hand. He
started to post threatful lyrics about his wife, co workers, and a kindergarten school. One of his friends
saw these post and decided to report it. The FBI ended up getting involved and before long Elonis
found out and started to post about the FBI agent. The FBI then had enough of it, so they arrested him.
At the lower court the jury of his peers felt that the post constituted a reasonable threat and sentenced
him to 44 months in prison. He, of course, appealed it, sending it to the Supreme Court, saying that his
intent was not threatful. The Supreme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This form of sharing is generally intended to generate a response from others. With all things in life
not everything is going to be one sided. We will get responses that are not positive towards our
intentions. Even on private pages our thoughts and ideas become public. Screenshots are taken and
shared with the world. We have to be careful how we share and what we share. Especially, in a
professional setting. This case is a prime example of such. In conclusion, we can walk away from this
case. We learn from this case not everything that is useful is helpful. Elonis artistic ability to write
lyrics was certainly useful to his career, but it was not helpful in advancing his career. We can learn
that words do indeed hurt those around us. In this case, even the fan who followed Elonis was in some
way hurt by these lyrics. He was concerned enough to take time out of his day and report his concerns.
We learned that we need to not be such an impulsive society when it comes to social media, but to

Present Day Protest Summary
Tufekci uses different strategies to convince her audience that present day protest, no longer has the
same effect they did before social media. She proposes this theory by stating that social media has
changed the game for protest. Tufekci gives examples of different type of protest throughout American
history to show the effect it has on society. For example, the Women March of 2017, March on
Washington of 1963, Antiwar Protest 2003, and the Tea Party protest of 2009. All these protests
impacted America in different ways. Tufekci was able to grasp her audience attention by appealing to
nature and authority. Tufekci is a writer who emphasizes on the effect technology has on politics and
society The protests in American all had a different

Does Medea Deserve Sympathy Essay
In Euripides Medea, there are moments when a specific character is deserving of sympathy, and
instances when they don t deserve any sympathy at all. In the beginning, Medea deserves sympathy
due to her husband leaving her for royalty and another woman. However, neither characters deserve
sympathy when Medea s tells of her plans of killing her children, and Jason s want for Medea to
become an exile. Towards the end, Jason deserves sympathy for trying to do what s best for his family
and the death of his children, but Medea deserves no sympathy for the killing of Glauce, Creon and
her children.

  • 2. 102 Minutes By Kevin Flynn And Jim Dwyer 102 Minutes by Kevin Flynn and Jim Dwyer is a factual book that describes the events that occurred in the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks. The book itself is named 102 minutes because of the 102 minutes people had to evacuate the World Trade Center before it came down. Before writing this book, a team of a few people interviewed over 200 survivors and witnesses of 9/11 and researched historical facts, radio transmissions, phone messages, and emails from the day of the attack. This book aims to tell what happened solely from the perspective of people inside the building and the people who rushed to help them such as the New York Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Service, and more. It describes the simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dianne was sitting in her office doing her work when she got knocked off her chair and her locked door swung open. • 3. My Observation Of My Preschool Observation The purpose of my Preschool Observation is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a head start school setting. The child s name is Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is to objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full descriptive details. My observation of the three year old preschool is to explain the domains of development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam attends head start, which he has attended the school since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and play with, share, and interest areas for differing purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for dramatic play with a doll house, child sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an area rug with bright colors. • 4. The Holderness Coastline Essay examples The Holderness Coastline The infamous Holderness Coastline is located on the East coast of Yorkshire, stretching from Flamborough Head to Spurn Point. In the last 2000 years the coastline has retreated by almost 400m and since Roman times over 28 villages have disappeared into the sea between Bridlington and Spurn Head. About a million years ago the Yorkshire coastline was a line of chalk cliffs almost 32km west of where it now is. During the Ice Age deposits of soft boulder clay were built up against these cliffs to form the new coastline. It is this soft sand and clay which is easily eroded by the action of waves, as the ocean slowly claims back the region it used to occupy. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is evident at both Great Cowden and Easington. The Holderness Coastline is also extremely exposed with little protection. The original coastline before the ice age consisted mainly of chalk, and is still present today at Flamborough Head where a headland has formed as chalk is much more resistant to coastal erosion than the boulder clay. This outcrop of land provides some shelter, although it is minimal, as the stretch of coastline down to Spurn Head is over 50km long, most experiencing almost head on dominant waves. The coastline is also exposed to strong North/North East winds, which co enside with a rather generous fetch. Destructive waves are a result, which erode the beaches and attack the foot of the cliffs, removing masses of clay in suspension, resulting in strong marine erosion. The material eroded and transported elsewhere results in little material left to form beaches, which act as a barrier to protect the cliff line from tides, currents and storms, therefore the sea s processed are able to keep cutting back the cliff line. The weather also has a large influence. Often there are winter storm surges producing higher waves, and higher sea levels, meaning higher energy erosion. In addition is increased sub aerial denudation brought about by the heavy rain and strong winds. This often leads to increased slumping and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Makes Balzac Capitalism Balzac s Capitalism: The Tragedy of Moral Destruction or Corrupt Success In his novel Père Goriot, Honoré de Balzac depicts capitalism as inherently tragic in that it creates a society of considerable opportunity solely for individuals who become immoral in order to fulfill their desires. Utilizing the protagonist for whom the book is named, Père Goriot, Balzac is able to highlight the success of those who exploit others, both in Goriot s own success as a merchant, and in his daughters success in exploiting his love for them. One of the crucial parallels here is self absorbed desire, the culprit of both Goriot s success and downfall. Originally, Goriot was selfish: he accumulated his wealth by capitalizing on inflated grain prices from falsified food shortages, thus exploiting people when they were dying of hunger, killing each other for bread (Balzac 79 80). As immoral as it is, this extreme form of self centrism is necessary in capitalism, according to Balzac, who makes a point to illustrate this necessity by immediately juxtaposing the successes of Goriot s self serving passion for wealth with the downfalls of his altruistic passion for his daughters: [O]ne of [Goriot s] competitors, wanting Goriot out of the way...told him that Delphine had just been run over by a cab. [...] [Goriot] was ill for several days as a reaction to the conflicting emotions aroused by this false alarm. Earning a college degree will help a person realize their goals in their career and life in general. It requires a lot of hard work but it s work that will prepare a person for a challenging and rewarding career and a more fruitful life. According to studies, college gradates earn significantly more money throughout their lives than those that have settled for a high school diploma. According to a national report by the Higher Education Executive Officers Association, high school graduates earn an average of almost $30,000 per year. Bachelor s graduates earn an average of just over $50,000 per year. And those with a higher level degree like master s, doctorate, and professional average at about $70,000 per year. This reveals a significant earning gap over the course of a person s life. Jobs that require a bachelor s, master s, doctoral or professional degrees tend to also provide more benefits. These benefits include health care, retirement investment, travel and other perks. These kinds of benefits are rarely offered for high school level jobs. • 9. American Dream Identity The American identity has evolved throughout centuries of oppression and obligation. Race and cultural differences rip through the seams of the meaning of American identity, while it has inevitably been forged from its true origins. An evolution of jazz, art and influencers portray the true meaning of what it is to be an American. Idealisms and morals have drastically changed over the past few centuries, and they continue to evolve every single day. Every person has an individual and unique meaning of what it is to be an American, even though many of us do not share the same traits and beliefs. In America today, the American Dream has changed drastically. We strive for individualism as well as wealth and prosperity throughout our entire community, although we do still have salient matters to work on. It was not always like this, though, because as a nation we grew together through slavery, racism, and immense violence/protest. Slavery has been dated back to as early as 1619, when the first African Americans were brought to Jamestown, Virginia to assist in the growth of tobacco and crops. The American identity was struck from its original meanings when this began, as it started to become evident that there is not a country in world history in which racism has been more important, for so long a time, as the United States, (Zinn, 35). We were no longer a country of one, while we were harshly separated after the color line (Zinn, 35) became ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Constitution in all its glory holds, as the supreme law of the land , in that it controls the limits of power that the legislative and executive branches have (Arnold 4). If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day confusion different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the same. Of course, sundowning can affect people differently such as types of behaviors that might occur and it would be important to know what those behaviors are especially if it is aggression. The social worker, nurses, CNA s and others that work with the resident would need to be careful if someone gets aggressive and know what to do for safety reasons. In addition, by knowing to look for the factors that could be causing it measures can be taken to try to address it or prevent it beforehand that would be the best practice. Tips for reducing sundowning: Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities. At the age of 35, Yale s geologist, Benjamin Silliman, was consulted regarding the possible appointment of Henry to Princeton. Silliman s response was negative in saying that Henry has no superior in our country, and Henry, who was modest, defended the fact that he never graduated any colleges and he is principally self educated. Henry therefore got the job. His initial salary at Princeton was $1,000 per annum plus a house. The Trustees also provided for $100 for the purchase of a new electrical machine. • 20. The Beginning of Tattoos When Did Tattoos Begin? Tattoos are not a new fad that grew over night. Tattooing has been a form of art that people have used to communicate with for ages. Whether it is a family crest, a butterfly, or a zodiac sign, all tattoos have meaning in which someone can tell a story. The history of tattoos goes as far back as the first people who roamed this Earth. Tattoos have been around for so long that no historian or archaeologist can precisely trace back to when and where tattooing began. From the Beginning of Time In Archaeologists Jarrett Lobell and Eric Powell s study of tattoos, Ancient Tattoos, they make the case that ...body art has been a meaningful form of expression throughout the ages and across the world (41). Lobell and Powell have studied body modifications on ancient artifacts and mummies all over the world, such as, Italy, Egypt, and Oceania. Depending on the time and geographic location that these body modifications were given, they could have a number of meanings, such as, ...adornment, status symbol, or declaration of religious belief (Lobell and Powell 41). Since the art of tattooing has been around for over a great number of years, it would be quite difficult to pinpoint exactly where the very first tattoo was given and what the meaning behind it was. One of the earliest forms of tattoos was traced back to 3500 3100 B.C., which included charcoal that was rubbed into small incisions in the skin. This early form of tattooing was found on Ötzi the Iceman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet In Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet, the quick witted character Mercutio is a notorious scene stealer (Utterback 105). Mercutio s major function in the play is to be a catalyst for the plot. Mercutio s purpose as a character is most significantly revealed in his relationship with Romeo, his baiting of Tybalt, and his death. More importantly, Mercutio functions as the catalyst for the pattern of disasters in the play that follows his own tragic death, making him, as described by critic Stephen Greenblatt a spirit that seems to challenge the very possibility of romantic love or tragic destiny (856). Mercutio tells Romeo If thou are dun we ll draw thee from the mire / Of save your reverence love, wherein though stickest / Up to the ears (I.iv.41 43). Mercutio scorns the romantic love and relationships that weaken their friendship. Mercutio s bawdry and scorn are seen as especially ill mannered because he expresses it in an age celebrating domesticity and middle class marriage (Porter 34). The connection of Mercutio s name to the misogynistic god Mercury supports his view of love and relationships (Porter 38). Mercutio s Mercurian message is that Romeo should stay with, or come back to, the world of male comradeship (Porter 107). Furthermore, Mercury was a troublesome, quick to anger, and swift messenger. Likewise, Mercutio is hot headed and quick to act. Mercutio s need for action and his ridiculing nature are also seen in his aggressive baiting of Tybalt. At first, Mercutio seems almost excited to see Romeo fight Tybalt in Act Three, Scene One. And but one word with one of us? Couple it with / something; make it a word and a blow (III.i.35 36). However, Romeo does not give in to Tybalt s insults and does not accept Tybalt s challenge to fight. The passive Romeo instead wants love and peace with Tybalt because of his love for Juliet. • 24. The Affordable Care Act And Emergency Medical Services The Affordable Care Act and Emergency Medical Services Each year in the United States approximately 114 million people visit their local Emergency Department (ED), and 16 million of these patients arrive by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). (Board et al.) Health care in America has moved from an individual, fee for service health care system, towards a more integrated healthcare system i.e., The Affordable Care Act (ACA), which is a government controlled healthcare system, and is set up to be a value based payment system. The ACA will expand and transform the roles of EMS within the healthcare system. EMS s ability to survive and thrive in this new era of healthcare, will revolve, in part, on its ability to articulate its value to healthcare providers, healthcare organizations, hospital systems, and payers, as well as patients and family members. (Smith) EMS can thrive in the future, if it embraces change. John F. Kennedy had this to say about change, Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. (BrainyQuote) In order for EMS to thrive in the changes that the future is bringing, it must: focus on mobile integrated healthcare, be data driven in their clinical practices. There are three other areas that will be discussed at length, EMS agencies should be actively pursuing a community paramedicine program, EMS using remote telemedicine and EMS moving towards a value based payment system. It is used to catabolize starch into glucose and maltose by lowering the activation energy barrier, and by breaking the alpha 1 4 bonds of amylose and amylopectin and the alpha 1 6 bonds of amylopectin. Amylase is found in one s saliva and pancreas, and Porcrine Pancreatic α Amylase is amylase that has been isolated from the pancreas of a pig. While amylase is effective at breaking down starch, in the normal saliva pH range of 6.02 to 7.14 (Schmidt Nielsen, 1946), any pH environment outside of this range will decrease the reaction rate. He was an inspiring rap artist and was using Facebook as a platform to share his lyrics. After his divorce, things got out of hand. He started to post threatful lyrics about his wife, co workers, and a kindergarten school. One of his friends saw these post and decided to report it. The FBI ended up getting involved and before long Elonis found out and started to post about the FBI agent. The FBI then had enough of it, so they arrested him.
