Applications of Noise and Vibration Studies
Applications of Noise and Vibration Studies in all domains presented above have slight variation
depending on the structural architecture, working environment, economics and adherence to
regulations imposed by various authorities. In the domain of railway, Automobile and Aircraft
industry, both exterior noise (into the environment) and interior noise play an important role and are
strictly regulated by norms imposed by various government authorities. In the railway industry, in
addition environmental noise, big attention is being paid on studies on transmission and effect of
ground vibrations in many countries. Aircraft industry, on the other hand has its focus of study on
airframe noise which is transmitted to the environment surrounding the airports and are under strict
regulation by regulatory bodies in all countries. For ships, interior noise and noise transmitted
underwater has been the topic for research over past 40 decades. A brief review of applications of
noise and vibrations studies is presented in subsequent paragraphs. In the railway industry, the studies
are mainly focussed on the mechanism of generation and transmission and control measures in respect
of rolling noise at the wheel rail contact and the aerodynamic noise. The dominant noise from
mainline railways is usually the rolling noise generated by the wheel and rail which is caused by
vibrations of the wheel and track structures, induced at the wheel rail contact point by vertical
irregularities in the

American Dreamers
The United States of America is a nation of foreigners which is sometimes affectionately called a
melting pot. In other words, America is composed of a myriad of cultures and backgrounds. This sets
America apart from other nations within the globe. From the very beginning of its existence, it has
been viewed as a place of opportunity. Many have left their homes in search of success within the
workplace and a more desired lifestyle in general. Living amongst the average Americans are
individuals that have been labeled as Dreamers or persons who are protected by DACA. These people
were brought to the United States as minors by their parent and or parents in an effort to give them a
better way of life. The parents of these dreamers flee from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who are not in favor of DACA argue that DACA recipients are stealing American jobs that
could have been given to American citizens. People in opposition believe that Dreamers are a threat to
society. These people claim to fear that the immigrants are involved with gangs and events that
involve criminal activities. Dreamers are being represented as criminals without even receiving the
opportunity to prove themselves as otherwise. There is also a claim against Dreamers which is that
they are encouraging more illegal immigrants to come to the United States. Those in opposition feel as
if more immigrants will be willing to break the law and cross the border illegally simply because
dreamers have received temporary work permits along with other benefits from the

Comparing The Legend Of King Arthur And Merlin
The legend of King Arthur has inspired, and continues to inspire, many retellings of the well known
stories and cast of characters. Ranging from film to literature to art, these retellings often include
depictions of two key characters in the legend: King Arthur and and the wizard Merlin. Disney s The
Sword and the Stone (1963) and the British Broadcasting Corporation program Merlin (2008 2012)
both showcase the relationship between Merlin and Arthur in the development of Arthur, but they
differ in approach; in the animated version, Merlin assumes the role of a mentor while the television
program depicts Merlin as a friend to Arthur.
In Disney s The Sword and the Stone, Merlin fulfills the role of the mentor as described by the hero s

This shows the value of many teachers in the development of Arthur because Arthur is taught by
Archimedes basic and necessary skills which Arthur would use in his kingship, while Merlin teaches
Arthur the importance of values and moral standards. This also shows that different teachers can
impart equally relevant, but different wisdom. It mirrors society s knowing of human ess because it
show that the society believes one person does not know everything, and that a well rounded
individual needs many teachers to know the finer points of specific topics.
In contrast, in the television program Merlin, Merlin takes on the role as a friend to help Arthur
develop as a king. Immediately, the viewers know Merlin is not afraid to be direct with Arthur, then
the prince, when Merlin calls him a prat to his face. At first, this name calling is meant to be insultive,
but as the series narrative progresses, Arthur and Merlin become friends so when Merlin calls Arthur a
prat it is meant in a joking manner. This banter is most seen through the episode from the final season
The Death Song of Uther Pendragon. This episode serves as a small scale example of Merlin s role
throughout the series as both a comical friend but still a valuable source of serious encouragement. In
one scene, the comical banter between the two is readily apparent: Arthur: [as Merlin creeps closer to
the village where a woman is screaming] What are you doing? Merlin: Well,

of oil dispersed in water or small droplets of water dispersed in oil. Since oil and water don t mix no
matter how much you shake, mix, emulsifiers are added to change the surface tension between the

of emulsifiers used in cosmetics include polysorbates, and laureth 4.(Professor Ben Selinger,2016)

Zachary Taylor Inaugural Address
Zachary Taylor became the 12th president of the United States in 1849. He served in office for until
1850, 16 months after becoming president, since he died in office from a gastrointestinal condition
(Editors). Taylor was a great nominee for president because he appealed to the North and the South.
The North respected his long military history, while in the South, he was popular for owning slaves.
The reason for the Inaugural Address is for the new president to establish what he believes in and the
tasks he will complete for the country. The dialect of President Taylor s Inaugural Address is simple,
since he was not the best student. Instead of going into law and furthering his education, he chose to
go into the military.

In the Inaugural Address, Mr. Taylor wanted to secure encouragement and protection to the great
interests of agriculture, commerce, and manufactures, this would reduce the public debt. Commerce
would help improve the rivers and harbors as well.
Zachary Taylor refers to President George Washington multiple times. He alludes to Washington s
farewell address when he states how Washington wanted us to abstain from entangling alliances with
foreign nations. Washington was also mentioned as the Father of his Country. He sees Washington as a
patriot and a role model. Taylor would see Washington as a role model since he is known as a national
war hero for his battles in the Mexican War (Editors).
President Taylor only alludes to God once at the end of his speech. This is different from the founding
presidents because their speeches mentioned God numerous times. Zachary Taylor s short presidency
foreshadowed the Civil War. In February of 1850, Southern leaders threatened secession and Taylor s
response was that it was an act of rebellion against the Union, he would hang ... with less reluctance

An Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House
A Symbol of the Times
Henrik Ibsen masterfully uses symbolism to add depth and meaning to his play A Doll s House. The
story is about a housewife named Nora who gets into trouble when she forges her father s name to
borrow money for her husband s sake. Many objects take on new meaning in this story, from the
Christmas tree in the opening scene to the slammed door at the end. Ibsen uses Nora as symbol
representing how many women in that time period were treated like objects. The literal meaning of
this engaging, but the use of symbolism is what makes it a truly powerful story.
The Helmers live in nineteenth century Norway. The opening scene is set during the Christmas season,
in the apartment of a somewhat average family where Nora and Torvald are married with three kids.
The story revolves around Nora, and how she forged her dying father s signature to acquire a loan. In
Nora s eyes she had to go behind Torvald s back, so that she could take him to Italy to recover from
his illness. Nora must acquire the money to pay off the loan without her husband knowing. The reason
being that Torvald is very tight with money, and would not spend so much on himself. The man Nora
borrowed from is employed by Torvald, and will soon be fired. Krogstad is his name, and he tells
Nora that if she can convince her husband to let him keep his job, he will not tell Torvald of her
actions. Nora can not acquire the money quick enough, so Krogstad sends a letter to Torvald revealing
Nora s actions.

Examples Of Root Cause Analysis
Chapter 2
Literature Review
7
2.1. Root Cause Analysis:
In Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is the process of identifying causal factors using a structured approach
with techniques designed to provide a focus for identifying and resolving problems. Tools that assist
groups or individuals in identifying the root causes of problems are known as root cause analysis
tools. Every equipment failure happens for a number of reasons.
There is a definite progression of actions and consequences that lead to a failure. Root Cause
Analysis is a step by step method that leads to the discovery of faults or root cause. An RCA
investigation traces the cause and effect trail from the end failure back to the root cause. It is much
like a detective solving a crime.

Like Cox and Spencer (1998), Dettmer
(1997) has also used root cause analysis on management of constraints. He presents one of the earliest
studies on the debate of applying Root Cause Analysis to processes. A proper management decision is
necessary to succeed the RCA tools and methods in a particular environment. Lepore and Cohen
(1999), Moran et al. (1990), Robson (1993) and Scheinkopf (1999) move ahead that when change is
needed, then think root cause analysing, identifying and eliminating. The foundations of their studies
are pioneering one as they question an accepted practice for root cause analysis and the results of the
example studies are encouraging.
However, the studies are far from being practical one as they include too many parameters and
assumptions. Smith (2000) has explained that Root Cause Tools can resolve conflicting strategies,
policies, and measures. The perception is that one tool is as good as another tool. While the literature
was quite complete on each tool as a stand alone application and their relationship with other problem
solving methods. There are very few literatures available on

I must say when I originally took this quiz I was very very skeptical. I thought it was bogus and would

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage Of Figaro
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed The Marriage of Figaro in 1786. For this assignment, the focus
was mainly on the first act of The Marriage of Figaro. The excerpt given was divided into two main
sections. First, I would like to expand on the opera as a whole. Next, I will discuss the first section
given. Then, I will discuss the second.
The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a very common
opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect example of an opera buffa in a
variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has believable characters as individuals. The characters
we see have titles such as a page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancée. These are all very
common jobs or titles. There is no mention of mythical creatures or other unheard of species. This
makes the opera very relatable to the audiences. The opera also deals with everyday subject ... Show

Instruments such as the violin, cello, and clarinet are being used. The accompaniment thickens greatly
as well. You can hear the drastic difference. The instruments have more lines of music, and on top of
that the instruments are listed in full detail, and each has their own line of music. In addition to the
change of accompaniment, Mozart did a fabulous job of representing the characters through the music.
When the count sings alone, the sound is very regal. This, of course, is due to his position. When
Susanna sings, the accompaniment is higher, and also more rushed. This would be because of the
stress this character is experiencing, and also her gender. In addition, when Susanna, the count, and the
music master sing together, you can hear multiple melodies being played. The action on stage also
stops. In the first section, Susanna was constantly moving. The count and the page boy both hide and

The Figure Of A Snoot, By David Foster Wallace
I m sure that during our years in school, we have came in contact with someone we would classify as a
nerd. We would typically view this person as an overachiever or teacher s pet. That nerd was usually
the one who always passed their test, completed every assignment, read books for fun, and was very
eager to be the first one to raise their hand in class. They would always speak properly and often
corrected your grammar. Most people may view them as an annoying pest. That nerd would be
someone who David Foster Wallace would characterize as a SNOOT. Wallace wrote an essay where
he created an intellectual figure called a SNOOT. In this essay, I will better explain this intellectual
figure, how you can spot it early on in childhood, as well as compare them to Rodriguez from a past
essay. In an essay, written by David Foster Wallace, he creates a nonfiction character or intellectual
figure called a SNOOT. He defines a SNOOT to be someone who never fails to speak proper English
no matter where they go, is constantly correcting others grammar, and is fluent in standard written
English. In other words, a SNOOT is a grammar nerd. Wallace identifies himself with his made up
character and believes that not many people can be classified as a SNOOT. Wallace is a college
professor and finds it bothersome when his students fail to achieve grammatically correct language in
their writing. As a SNOOT he tends constantly have the urge to correct someone s grammar everytime

Ruby Bridge Through My Eyes Essay Thesis
Imagine you love to go to this deli and you have been going to that deli your whole life. One day you

American didn t deserve the same goods that Whites did. The African Americans started boycotting
and in 1964 African Americans got the same rights as everyone else.
Segregation affected the people living in the United states in many ways. One way is that African
American kids did not get the same education that Whites did. In Ruby Bridges Through my Eyes,
Ruby takes a test to see if she will get into an all white school. She goes to an all black school and
they don t have the same tools that they do in the all White school. In Segregation, the kids thought
that when they got the same rights they would be able to do the same things like swim. Their parents

The Hobbit Songs
The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.(15) The Hobbit
by J.R.R. Tolkien is a tale comprised almost solely of mystique and heroics. One facet of this precious
story is given through song. The songs are meant to give a picture of the past and also to foreshadow
what is to come. In the case of the dwarf party, their songs spoke of a past event, the moving of a wind
over the land, and their triumphant return to the halls of their ancestors. Song singing is a great
medium for sharing information as well as feelings, and Tolkien used this medium well. First, the first
song we hear through the book is Misty Mountain and was sung by the dwarves pining for their
ancestral home. Thorin started the song and all joined in the retelling of their greatest defeat. They
sing of a return to their home and of the wondrous happenings that once occurred there. Smaug s
coming is the solemn climax of this sorrowful song. The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The
dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom. They fled their hall to dying fall Beneath his feet, beneath the
moon. (15) Grimly Misty Mountain sets up the book as a serious journey of a wronged people to
restore their honor and family. The song delves deeper into the dwarves character and shows the
determination to get justice and reclaim what is theirs, but in addition it shows them as a sophisticated
race that were once kings and craftsmen. Misty Mountain leaves you feeling haunted and in

The Transatlantic Slave Trade
Existing from 16th to the 19th centuries.
The atlantic slave trade also known as the Transatlantic slave trade involved the transportation by
slave traders of enslaved african people, mainly from africa to the americas, and then their sale there.
The slave trade used mainly the triangular trade route and its Middle Passage. existed from 16th to the
19th centuries. The development of colonies created by European countries is one of the main causes
of the trade. There was a demand for many labourers for the sugar, tobacco, and cotton plantations in
America. The reason why they didn t just hire people , is because paid labor was too expensive, and
indigenous people had been largely wiped out by disease and conflict, for this reason the colonies
turned to Africa to provide cheap labour in the form of slaves.
The first shipment of slaves was from West Africa to the Americas, across the Atlantic ocean, this took
place in the early 1500s.Slaves were now being sold by European, Arab, and African merchants.
While Europeans purchased large numbers of Africans, and sent them far away to work in colonies
they aren t the only responsible ones for the slave trade. Africans were not strangers to the slave trade
or to keeping of slaves.Africans bear some responsibility themselves, some African societies had their
own slaves long before trade. The Africans cooperated with Europeans to sell other Africans into
slavery, Europeans relied on African merchants as well as soldiers and rulers to get

Essay About Economic Crisis
The current state of the world came to the point when going through the daily news became

Over the past decade, the world suffered Syrian civil war, Iraqi civil war, Greek government debt
crisis, Ukrainian crisis and many other devastating moments. [Dear Reader: Do the examples provided

Since harmony and balance in life grant, the ground for mental stability current world s state stress
levels are too high and need to be dealt with. One of the ways to make sure that people keep their
mental health in check is to provide an opportunity to have a therapy session at least once a year. Even
though nowadays people are more open and understanding towards psychologist services, a certain
stigma that prevents many to seek professional help still exists. If such services were required to
attend those who needed help or simple consultation would receive it regularly. On the contrary, some
may argue that health and especially mental health are individual s personal concerns and they should
remain the way. However, from the Golberstein s study, it is clear that not many of the adults
especially older adults seek help on their own which results in tragic consequences such as high levels
of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and comorbid mood and anxiety disorder (2). As it has been

Vaccines Are A Major Cause Of Autism
Abstract
Ever since a study was posted by Ohio State University in 1998, a belief has existed that vaccines are
a major cause of autism. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove
this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many
science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included
surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that
vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including
information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship
between these two. This is significant because it dispels the aforementioned belief. It also shows that
people have been misinformed for years, something that must be corrected.
Intro
Autism is a disorder that is classified by certain difficulties with social skills, difficulties with
communication, and repetitive behavior (NIHM RSS). One of the first studies that started the belief
that vaccines may be the leading cause of autism started in 1998. The MMR scare started 10 years ago
with a report published which described the case of 8 children who...developed autistic symptoms and
digestive ailments shortly after getting their first MMR dose, (Downs). This report, paired with claims

Nicole Brown-Simpson Case Study
On June 13, 1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death outside
the Simpson home. The murders would start a chain reaction into what would be known as the Trial of
the Century and become the most watched trial on national television. The prosecution chose to file
this case in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica, where the crime was committed, due to a poll that
was taken where Caucasians believed Simpson was guilty and African Americans believed he was not
guilty. Three months after the murders the jury pool started with 250 potential jurors with the judge,
the prosecuting and defending lawyers and OJ himself.
Potential jurors had to complete a 79 page questionnaire answering questions such as How do you feel

These questions were used to see if any of these potential jurors were prejudiced against the case, their
own personal opinions were put into play. In order for the jury to be selected, jurors could not have
any personal opinions against the defendant or the case itself. It was found out that African American
females didn t like Nicole Brown Simpson and might be on edge around the prosecutor, who was a
female. After many tests and even reviews of the jurors (body language, their answers during the
questionnaires, etc.) the twelve jurors were selected on November 3; they were 8 African Americans, 2
Hispanics, 1 half Caucasian, half Native American and a Caucasian female along with 15 alternates
for backups.
I think the voir dire was very helpful in this particular case. The judge believed that many jurors were
lying just to be a part of the case and even insisted on having the potential jurors take a polygraph test.
One of the lawyers thought that this might be offensive to some so they chose not to. Having OJ
Simpson within reach during the voir dire was really helpful because that way the lawyers can judge
how a person will act or behave during the trial. The lawyers quickly found out that African American
women didn t like Nicole Brown Simpson because they thought she was using her husband for money

This article develops a conceptual model to explain how culture impacts negotiation . It draws on
previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects
negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the
literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what
we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter
cultural negotiation process and outcome.
A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation
Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve
perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on
negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they
say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What
does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome?
However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture
may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speci® cation
of a single mental model problematic. There are two ways to approach this problem of specifying a

Lord Of The Glies And John Locke s Lord Of The Flies
Jordan Early Nathan Carpenter PHIL 101.004 4 December 2017 John Locke Lord of the Flies In the
book, Second Treatise of Government , John Locke explains to the readers how a government should
be run and the freedoms that people should have. He also talks about the natural laws that people
should follow. Locke petitions a natural law of morality to govern people before they enter a society.
But in order to conserve themselves, people come together to lay a foundation for a government. Once
that has begun, the people agree on certain fundamental behaviors to follow. According to Locke, this
action breaks down their natural rights as human beings. This follows the movie, Lord of the Flies, as
boys are stranded on a remote island out at sea. The boys start out in Locke s state of nature. Due to
them being all alone, they work together to survive. While beginning their new life as a uniform tribe,
they inevitably come to an unacceptable state of war that gives rise to complete and utter chaos on the
island. John Locke describes the state of nature as a state all men are naturally in, and that is, a state of
perfect freedom to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and persons, as they think fit,
within the bounds of the law of nature, without asking to leave, or depending upon the will of any
other man (§4). The state of nature is a state of equality, where not one person has a sense of power
over other people. It is the time before a society

There is confusion over these topics which brings the necessity to revisit the basic elements of
intelligence that Intelligence is a specialization, is critical, is measurable, seldom seeks publicity,
targets organized crime problems that are often ignored by other, and require attention to detail.
Many times intelligence can be lost due to hasty deadlines or lack of analyst present. Valuable
information on police reports must be processed in order to maintain and file away for possible future
use, or many times information is passed over phone lines and then not recorded on paper are only a
couple of mistakes that can be made when trying to push to meet a deadline. The analyst must have
time to go over every detail in order to draw a final conclusion and build the best intelligence product.
Another example of a loss of intelligence is most greatly seen in the drug wars. The cartels have a
great amount of money, which is sometimes overwhelming to some police officers that are willing to
look the other way for a price. There is no way to totally avoid the bait that the wealthy cartels can use
to try and find law enforcement officials that will help them out, but through education and morality
training the police officer has a chance.

There is an instinctual human need to be curious and seek out answers to unseen questions. It is very

her daughter. The ladies ask him if he could spare some of his crop but he declines by even holding
them at gunpoint. They requested for a place to spend the night but the survivalist could only agree to
it when Milja offered to have intercourse with him in exchange for food and shelter for that night only.
The following morning he tells the women to pack and leave but Milja caresses and shaves his face,
and the survivalist softens his heart by letting them stay indefinitely as long as they help him with the
farming. Katherine later conspire to kill the survivalist in order to reduce the supplies used but the

ollywood always tries to look for succeeding great actors in the NFL, but mostly they do not find any.

perbromide was added. The crystals around the flask were rinsed with a small amount of acetic acid
and the solution was continued in the hot water bath for one to two minutes. The stilbene dibromide
precipitated immediately as small plates. The mixture was cooled under tap water helping crystals
form. The mixture was cooled before collecting the product by a vacuum filtration. For the crystals not
to stick in the flask, the solution was washed with small amounts of ice cold methanol. When done
pouring, the isolated solid dried for a few minutes in the filtration. To increase drying time, the
crystals were pressed down. When the solid was collected, data such as melting point, percent yield
and infrared spectroscopy spectrum values were collected. Results and Discussion: When all the data
was collected, the solid was weighed and in total the watch glass with the solid weighed 16.52 grams.
When the weight of the watch glass was subtracted, 0.77g of the solid stilbene bromide is left. In order
to calculate the percent yield, the theoretical yield is taken.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of DEA
Operating Expenses
It is also called establishment cost. It is incurred for maintaining the staff, premises etc. and for
carrying day to day operations. Major types of operating expenditure are:
Payment to and provisions for employees which includes staff salaries, allowances, bonus etc.
Rent, taxes and lighting
Printing, stationary, advertisement and publicity
Depreciation, Director‟s fees, Auditor‟s fees etc.
Payment to employees is the major element in operating cost. Because of industry wide wage
agreements banks in India have very little flexibility in rationing the same.
The output variables are:
1. Interest Income

An analyst should keep these limitations in mind when choosing whether or not to use DEA. (P.
Kumar, 2006)
Since DEA is an extreme point technique, noise (even symmetrical noise with zero mean) such as
measurement error can cause significant problems.
DEA is good at estimating relative efficiency of a DMU but it coverage‟s very slowly to absolute
efficiency. In other words, it can tell you that you are doing compared to your peers but not compared
to a theoretical maximum.
Since DEA is a non parametric technique, statistical hypothesis tests are difficult and are the focus
of ongoing research.
Since a standard formulation of DEA creates a separate linear program for each DMU, large
problems can be computationally intensive.
DEA does not provide rank to 100% efficient units. It is difficult to tell which bank is more
efficient among 100% efficient bank.
In spite of above these limitations, DEA is powerful tool for service industry specially in banking
sector. According to Tapiawala (2010) DEA has been found to be suitable in solving the following
three basic performance questions that any bank is faced

Negative Impact Of Telecommunication
It is undoubted that telecommunication has played a significant role in our life. According to Hargrave
s Communications Dictionary, the term telecommunications is defined as Any transmission, emission,
or reception of symbols, signals, writing, images, sounds, or other intelligence of any nature by wire,
radio, optical, or other electromagnetic systems. (Hargave, 2001). It makes our life easier by allowing
us to be in touch with those we need to communicate, whether for workwise or personal purposes. The
significant development of telecommunication is not only benefiting people who live in the major
cities but also to those who live in the developing areas. The people in rural areas can obtain profit
from the communications. A London School of Economics professor, examined mobile phone
developmental effects and concluded that mobile telephone has a positive and significant impact on
economic growth, additionally he emphasized that the impact for the developing countries may be
twice as large as in the developed countries (Waverman, Meschi Fuss, 2005, p.21 cited by Overa,
2006). This condition is happened probably due to the people in the developed countries have been
benefited for a long time since they have been using mobile telephony from the 1990s, while in the
developing countries they have just recently benefited as a result of the booming of cell phone in the
2000s. Therefore, the impact on economic growth is bigger than in the developed countries. The above

Ranging from film to literature to art, these retellings often include depictions of two key characters in the legend: King Arthur and and the wizard Merlin. Disney s The Sword and the Stone (1963) and the British Broadcasting Corporation program Merlin (2008 2012) both showcase the relationship between Merlin and Arthur in the development of Arthur, but they differ in approach; in the animated version, Merlin assumes the role of a mentor while the television program depicts Merlin as a friend to Arthur. At first, this name calling is meant to be insultive, but as the series narrative progresses, Arthur and Merlin become friends so when Merlin calls Arthur a prat it is meant in a joking manner. This episode serves as a small scale example of Merlin s role throughout the series as both a comical friend but still a valuable source of serious encouragement. • 15. An Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House A Symbol of the Times Henrik Ibsen masterfully uses symbolism to add depth and meaning to his play A Doll s House. The story is about a housewife named Nora who gets into trouble when she forges her father s name to borrow money for her husband s sake. Many objects take on new meaning in this story, from the Christmas tree in the opening scene to the slammed door at the end. Ibsen uses Nora as symbol representing how many women in that time period were treated like objects. The literal meaning of this engaging, but the use of symbolism is what makes it a truly powerful story. The Helmers live in nineteenth century Norway. The opening scene is set during the Christmas season, in the apartment of a somewhat average family where Nora and Torvald are married with three kids. The story revolves around Nora, and how she forged her dying father s signature to acquire a loan. In Nora s eyes she had to go behind Torvald s back, so that she could take him to Italy to recover from his illness. Nora must acquire the money to pay off the loan without her husband knowing. The reason being that Torvald is very tight with money, and would not spend so much on himself. The man Nora borrowed from is employed by Torvald, and will soon be fired. Krogstad is his name, and he tells Nora that if she can convince her husband to let him keep his job, he will not tell Torvald of her actions. Next, I will discuss the first section given. Then, I will discuss the second. The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a very common opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect example of an opera buffa in a variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has believable characters as individuals. The characters we see have titles such as a page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancée. One facet of this precious story is given through song. The songs are meant to give a picture of the past and also to foreshadow what is to come. In the case of the dwarf party, their songs spoke of a past event, the moving of a wind over the land, and their triumphant return to the halls of their ancestors. Song singing is a great medium for sharing information as well as feelings, and Tolkien used this medium well. First, the first song we hear through the book is Misty Mountain and was sung by the dwarves pining for their ancestral home. Thorin started the song and all joined in the retelling of their greatest defeat. They sing of a return to their home and of the wondrous happenings that once occurred there. The atlantic slave trade also known as the Transatlantic slave trade involved the transportation by slave traders of enslaved african people, mainly from africa to the americas, and then their sale there. The slave trade used mainly the triangular trade route and its Middle Passage. existed from 16th to the 19th centuries. The development of colonies created by European countries is one of the main causes of the trade. There was a demand for many labourers for the sugar, tobacco, and cotton plantations in America. The reason why they didn t just hire people , is because paid labor was too expensive, and indigenous people had been largely wiped out by disease and conflict, for this reason the colonies turned to Africa to provide cheap labour in the form of slaves. The first shipment of slaves was from West Africa to the Americas, across the Atlantic ocean, this took place in the early 1500s.Slaves were now being sold by European, Arab, and African merchants. While Europeans purchased large numbers of Africans, and sent them far away to work in colonies they aren t the only responsible ones for the slave trade. Africans were not strangers to the slave trade or to keeping of slaves.Africans bear some responsibility themselves, some African societies had their own slaves long before trade. One of the ways to make sure that people keep their mental health in check is to provide an opportunity to have a therapy session at least once a year. Even though nowadays people are more open and understanding towards psychologist services, a certain stigma that prevents many to seek professional help still exists. If such services were required to attend those who needed help or simple consultation would receive it regularly. On the contrary, some may argue that health and especially mental health are individual s personal concerns and they should remain the way. • 27. Vaccines Are A Major Cause Of Autism Abstract Ever since a study was posted by Ohio State University in 1998, a belief has existed that vaccines are a major cause of autism. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship between these two. This is significant because it dispels the aforementioned belief. It also shows that people have been misinformed for years, something that must be corrected. Intro Autism is a disorder that is classified by certain difficulties with social skills, difficulties with communication, and repetitive behavior (NIHM RSS). The prosecution chose to file this case in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica, where the crime was committed, due to a poll that was taken where Caucasians believed Simpson was guilty and African Americans believed he was not guilty. It draws on previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter cultural negotiation process and outcome. A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome? However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speci® cation of a single mental model problematic. Lord Of The Glies And John Locke s Lord Of The Flies Jordan Early Nathan Carpenter PHIL 101.004 4 December 2017 John Locke Lord of the Flies In the book, Second Treatise of Government , John Locke explains to the readers how a government should be run and the freedoms that people should have. He also talks about the natural laws that people should follow. Locke petitions a natural law of morality to govern people before they enter a society. But in order to conserve themselves, people come together to lay a foundation for a government. Once that has begun, the people agree on certain fundamental behaviors to follow. According to Locke, this action breaks down their natural rights as human beings. This follows the movie, Lord of the Flies, as boys are stranded on a remote island out at sea. The boys start out in Locke s state of nature. Due to them being all alone, they work together to survive. While beginning their new life as a uniform tribe, they inevitably come to an unacceptable state of war that gives rise to complete and utter chaos on the island. John Locke describes the state of nature as a state all men are naturally in, and that is, a state of perfect freedom to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and persons, as they think fit, within the bounds of the law of nature, without asking to leave, or depending upon the will of any other man (§4). An analyst should keep these limitations in mind when choosing whether or not to use DEA. (P. Kumar, 2006) Since DEA is an extreme point technique, noise (even symmetrical noise with zero mean) such as measurement error can cause significant problems. DEA is good at estimating relative efficiency of a DMU but it coverage‟s very slowly to absolute efficiency. In other words, it can tell you that you are doing compared to your peers but not compared to a theoretical maximum. Since DEA is a non parametric technique, statistical hypothesis tests are difficult and are the focus of ongoing research. Since a standard formulation of DEA creates a separate linear program for each DMU, large problems can be computationally intensive. DEA does not provide rank to 100% efficient units. It is difficult to tell which bank is more efficient among 100% efficient bank. In spite of above these limitations, DEA is powerful tool for service industry specially in banking sector. (Hargave, 2001). It makes our life easier by allowing us to be in touch with those we need to communicate, whether for workwise or personal purposes. The people in rural areas can obtain profit from the communications. A London School of Economics professor, examined mobile phone developmental effects and concluded that mobile telephone has a positive and significant impact on economic growth, additionally he emphasized that the impact for the developing countries may be twice as large as in the developed countries (Waverman, Meschi Fuss, 2005, p.21 cited by Overa, 2006). This condition is happened probably due to the people in the developed countries have been benefited for a long time since they have been using mobile telephony from the 1990s, while in the developing countries they have just recently benefited as a result of the booming of cell phone in the 2000s.
