Future Colony On Mars
The future colony on Mars will need to have an intelligent use of local resources (Zubrin3, 2) from
the planet s surface, have excellent crew morale and compatibility, and be entirely self sufficient.
This type of colony is imperative because of the fact that resupply spacecraft from Earth take
several months to reach Mars, and precision landings, where rockets are used to guide a
descending spacecraft very near a targeted object, or location, are extremely difficult. In addition
the base would to not be allowed to use, or utilize NASA s 90 Day Report program as a stepping
stone because, [b]efore humans could go to Mars, the report said, the nation would need a space

They will grow the food for the population aboard the base, and a small section of it will be used
for biological research. Tending to the plants has been shown as a way for astronauts to deal with
stress. Using regolith from Mars it is possible to farm and extract water. The greenhouses will use
mostly Martian regolith, mixed with some Earth soil, to introduce the bacteria and other
microscopic organisms necessary for life, and water to allow the organisms to inundate the
Martian soil. They will produce all the food for the colony and 80% of its oxygen, and will be
crucial for reducing carbon dioxide into hydrocarbons (plant matter and tissues), and oxygen.
Because of their beneficial qualities, both for crew survival and morale they will be set up on the
base, research outposts, and any other manned station on

After the classical period the structure of society was a mess. After the trojan war the Medieval

Constributions of Greek Culture
Kings of the Hellenistic era built temples, staffed with priest, for old gods. This way they spread
Greek religious beliefs throughout the Near East. This broadened peoples span of knowledge of
religions, science and philosophy and shaped the world. When people got tired of it and found
rituals unsatisfying, they turned to mystery religions. Civic religions were primarily concerned
with rituals and did not embrace such matters as morality and redemption. People did not inspire
deep religious feelings or satisfy spiritual yearning. Hellenistic culture in general were not tied to
a particular place, instead they were spread throughout the Hellenistic world. People didn t have
to travel to become members. The mystery religions, which incorporated aspects of both Greek
and Eastern religions, all claimed to save their adherents from the worst that fate could do and
promised life for the soul after death. OF the mystery religions the Egyptian Cult of Iris took the
Hellenistic world by storm. In Egyptian mythology, Iris brought her husband Oisris back to life. She
promised to save any mortal that came to her, and her priests asserted that she had bestowed on
humanity the gift of civilization and founded law and literature. Iris became the goddess of
marriage, conception, and childbirth. Philosophical schools fought that people could be truly happy
only when they had turned their backs on the world and focused full attention on one enduring
thing. Depending on the school they

Oil Pulling Research Paper
The process of oil pulling is one that I have been doing for several years. There is a lot of
information currently online about oil pulling with a lot of different opions. However have you
ever thought about how much money you could actually save in dental bills if you were actually
able to take care of your teeth naturally and keep them healthy. Most of us have dental insurance
which allows you to get one or two dental cleanings per year. If you don t need any major work
than you should be able to maintain your dental health yourself. Keep in mind that the information I

If you spit it down the drain you are guaranteed to have a clogged drain. So what does oil pulling
do? Well for me, it helped to whiten my teeth, and actually it is currently helping to heal my
gums. That s just my opinion, and what I have experienced since I started taking the coconut oil.
Some do have a few concerns when it comes to oil pulling, like if your fillings will loosen up and
fall out. Of course if this were to happen you really would not be saving any money. You would
be doing the opposite and spending more to replace those fillings. I personally have a mouth full
of fillings and have so far not have one fall out. This could just be an experience that is unique to
me, since each person is different. So how can the coconut oil help you save money by oil
pulling? Well, if it works to help keep your gums and teeth healthy that is clearly a huge savings.
There is also some science behind the oil pullung method that shows is has some benefits to your
health. For additional information on oil pulling, the different types of oils you can use and the
possible benefits you can take a look at the articles

Deck Installation Research Paper
As spring quickly approaches, now is the prefect time to begin your backyard preparation, which
can including the installation of a new spa or hot tub. When being plans for your new hot tub,
the first consideration you ll need to address is whether you want it to sink into the deck. These
pros and cons should help you to decide if this type of installation method is right for you. Pro #1:
In deck installation allows the spa to blend into the surroundings. When hot tubs are installed flush
with the deck s surface, it allows for a more secluded atmosphere. Homeowners are able to merge
the hot tub s area into the surrounding landscaping, providing a retreat from the hectic realities of
life. Pro #2: In ground installations allow for integrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When both the hot tub and the deck area are constructed at the same time, homeowners are better
able to customize their spa. They will have access to a number of customizable design features
that otherwise may be unavailable to them if they had to buy a stock hot tub. Con #1: In deck
spas typically are more costly to install and maintain. Because the deck has to be built around the
hot tub, this type of installation can cost a lot more than on deck installation. In ground hot tubs
need to be installed by an experienced professional to avoid damaging the equipment or creating
potential damage to the deck itself. They also tend to cost more to operate and maintain due to
increased power consumption and fewer cover options. Con #2: Hot tubs that are sunk in a deck
can pose increased tripping hazards. Nothing can bring a good party to a grinding halt faster than
someone getting hurt due to tripping on the less visible edges of sunk in hot tubs. Not only does
the risk of personal injury increase, but the homeowners liability can also go up drastically if
someone is hurt because they tripped over the hot tub. Con #3: Decreased equipment access can

Introduction
This report will discuss the advantages, disadvantages and details of both natural daylight and
artificial lighting systems in terms of developing within a commercial property. The report provides
detailed research and analysis concerning the subject topic in order to give a comprehensive view of
various lighting types and methods. Light is an electromagnetic radiation visible to the human eye,
the wavelengths visible to humans range between 380nm (nanometers) to 740nm. Light behaves as
a wave it undergoes reflection, refraction, and diffraction just like any wave would.
Properties
Natural and artificial light have varying properties that affects their capability and appropriateness
these properties regularly impact their surroundings. Natural light comes in a spectrum of colours,
which are the visible rays. Also on the colour spectrum are shorter wavelengths, named ultraviolet
rays and higher wavelengths, known as infrared rays. Both of these are not visible to us. Exposure

decreasing tariffs on imported goods might keep customers from buying Walmart s products which
it could adversely affect its accounting and financial profits. Walmart is currently operates globally.
So, they need to follow certain regulations and rules of host countries in their operations. Most of
these factors are beyond their control and they could negatively affect their operations

many economic factors such higher fluctuations in foreign exchange, higher fuel prices and

factors. In general, any firm can be influenced by conditions in the global and domestic
economies. During the year 2014, the U.S. economy continued to recover at a moderate pace.
However, there is no assurance that such recovery trend will continue in the future. To deal with
the difference in the economic environments between countries, Walmart should follow different
strategy. Just like the price strategy, the price of the products may be different because of the
costs is different. If both wages and expenses in a country are high, the cost of producing goods
will be high also, and then the price will arise. 3 Sociocultural We may not timely identify or

Executive Powers Of Texas Government
Texas Executive In comparison to the President of the United States and governors of other states
the governor of Texas occupies a very weak office. The reason can be traced back to conditions
surrounding the New Texas Constitution of 1876. The writers of the New Texas Constitution were
cognizant of their experiences during Reconstruction after the Civil War. It was during the
Reconstruction period that the Union Army helped enforce the Reconstruction Constitution of
1869. The governor of Texas was granted wide ranging executive powers in fear that a possible
rebellion would occur by former confederate soldiers and their supporters. At that time Edmund J.

Decriminalizing Marijuana Research Paper
More than half the states in the union have passed some form of legislation decriminalizing
marijuana for either medical or recreational use despite Schedule I classification (a substance with
no medical values and high potential for abuse) by the federal government. Cannabis prohibition
has remained a controversial topic for the better part of the last century, and popular opinion has
begun to shift. Although banned in most countries, cannabishas long been used in a variety of
industrial, medicinal, and recreational purposes throughout history.

Businessmen involved with the cotton, paper, and lumber industries lobbied against hemp and
marijuana cultivation due to the potential threat of competition by a hemp based company. The
result was the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, which effectively banned the sale and use of the plant
(Earleywine). Later, In the 1960 s, then President Richard Nixon manipulated his party into
banning marijuana in order to use it as a political tool. In an interview, former Nixon domestic
policy chief John Ehrlichman said, In 1968, the Nixon White House... had two enemies: the

Persuasive Tactics In Generation Why By Zadie Smith
Persuasive Tactics In Zadie Smith s essay Generation Why , Smith uses many types of
persuasive tactics to convince the readers that Facebook or social media is ruining the
generations. Her goal was to give the readers a distinct perspective on how they perceive the
social networks. Throughout the essay you may find her words to be offensive or sarcastic, but
she still manages to get her point across. However, three specific tactics stood out to me. They are
ethos, pathosand logos. I read this articleby Big Fish Presentations called 3 Ways to Persuade Your
Audience. In the article, the Big Fish presenters talked mainly on the topic of ethos, pathos and
logos. They stated, When used effectively, these three appeals can be powerful tools for
achieving a speaker s persuasive goal. However, I feel to believe that Zadie Smith did not
execute all three of them for these tactics to be successful or effective in her essay. There are
many distinguishable ways that she could have utilized ethos, pathos and logos. However, the
manner that she went about it was unexploited. First, I would like to start by talking about Zadie
Smith s use of ethos in her essay Generation Why. The first example is in the first paragraph. Smith
starts off by establishing credibility right away and presenting herself as trustworthy. She states, I
was there at Facebook s inception, and remember Facemash and the fuss it caused. This statement
made Smith s readers trust her because she was

Teenage Drinking And Driving
Drinking and driving is a big problem that affects teenagers all over the world. People would
think that with all the laws cracking down on the sale of alcohol to minors, and education about
the consequences of drinking and driving would make a difference. Everyone knows that
drinking and driving is dangerous, but don t realize it affects the driver, passengers, and people
on the streets. The laws should be stricter about underage drinking, there should be more
education about the consequences of drinking and driving, and the drinking age should not be
lowered. Even though under age drinking is illegal, teenagers are starting to drink at younger
ages, which is leading to risky behaviors (Dedel). Some common behaviors known to happen
while under the influence include, driving, property damage, rape, and other violent crimes. The
major problem for teenagers is driving while they are under the influence. The laws need to be
stricter when it comes to under age drinking. Most teenagers do not have the mindset to drink
responsibly and can lead to negative effects, that could not only harm them but harm other people
too. Police need to crack down on all underage drinkers so that nobody does anything that could
harm them, like getting into a car and driving or riding in a car with someone who is drunk.. Most
teenagers don t think that drinking while they are under the influence is a big problem. Kelly
Dedel stated, Underage college students who drink heavily are more likely to

Erythroxylum coca, is a shrub that is native to the lands of Southern and Central America, and
Southeast Asia (1). During the mid 1800s, German chemist Albert Niemann discovered and
isolated the harmful drug, cocaine, from E. coca (2). Shortly after its discovery, companies such as
the Coca Cola Company used cocaineto add flavor to their carbonated beverages (3). Back then,
cocaine was actually present in just about everything from ointments to margarine. Cocaine was
even used medically as a pain alleviator due to its soothing properties. However, a type of wine

Cocaine was the leading illicit drug in the late 20th century in America. It is suggested that the
use of cocaine may potentially lead to severe cardiovascular disease, other serious health issues
and even death. Despite these serious health risks, the Drug Abuse Warning Network (7)
reported in 2011 a total of 505,224 emergency visits nationwide in regards to cocaine use
suggesting that cocaine use still poses as a problem in today s society. There weren t any
antidotes available to be given for accidental overdoses until the major discovery of enzyme called
cocaine esterase (cocE) (8). CocE is capable of degrading cocaine and therefore the harmful effects
of cocaine are diminished. CocE has the potential to save lives of individuals that are unfortunately
under the control of cocaine.
CocE was isolated from the genomes of bacteria living around the plant, E. coca. CocE was
initially derived from Pseudomonas maltophilia strain MB11L (9). Shortly after, cocE was isolated
from the bacterium, Rhodococcus sp. strain MB1. Bacteria such as these have adapted to their
surrounding environment. These bacteria have acquired the specialized ability to use cocaine
produced by the plant as their sole source of carbon and nitrogen (10). In the environment of a
harsh toxin, cocaine, these bacteria can still obtain energy necessary to thrive and flourish.

Postpartum Depression Essay
Introduction
What is Postpartum Depression
Having a baby should be one of the happiest and most important events in a woman s life.
However, although life with a new baby can be both thrilling and rewarding, it can also be a
difficult and quite stressful task. Most women make the transition without great difficulty, yet some
women experience considerable complexity that may manifest itself as a postpartum psychiatric
disorder (O hara, Hoffman, Philips, Wright, 1992). Many physical and emotional changes can
occur to a woman during the time of her pregnancy as well as following the birth of her child.
These particular changes can leave a new mother feeling sad, anxious, afraid and confused. For
many women, these feelings; which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Untreated postpartum affective illness places both the mother and infant at risk and is associated
with significant long term effects on child development and behavior; therefore, prompt recognition
and treatment of postpartum depression are essential for both the maternal and infant s well being.
Postpartum Psychosis
Conclusively, at the other end of the spectrum is the truly devastating postpartum psychosis. This
is known as a relatively rare disease that occurs in approximately 1 2 per 1,000 women after
childbirth (Campbell et al, 1991). The condition resembles a rapidly evolving manic episode with
symptoms such as restlessness and insomnia, irritability, rapidly shifting depressed or elated mood,
and disorganized behavior. The mother may have delusional beliefs that relate to the infant, or she
may have hallucinations that instruct her to harm herself or her child. Nonetheless, risks for
infanticide and suicide are high among women with this disorder.
As these patients often suffer from delusions and suicidal tendencies, the consequences of this
disease to both mother and child are significant. Furthermore, depressed mothers have an increased
risk of relapsing and/or continued psychiatric illness. Depressed mothers often show a more
negative attitude toward their children, and an injured new mother puts significant emotional and
perhaps economic burdens on family relationships. The

One of the things I didn t like while being at the internship was when I had to interact with two

The War Of New Orleans
The War of 1812 is probably our most obscure conflict. Although a great deal has been written
about the war, the average American is only vaguely aware of why we fought or who the enemy
was. Even those who know something about the contest are likely to remember only a few
dramatic moments, such as the writing of The Star Spangled Banner, the burning of the nation s
capital, or the Battle of New Orleans. Why is this war so obscure? One reason is that no great
president is associated with the conflict. Although his enemies called it Mr. Madison s War,
James Madison was shy and deferential, hardly measuring up to such war leaders as Abraham
Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, or Franklin Roosevelt. Moreover, the best American generals in this
war Andrew Jackson, Jacob Brown, and Winfield Scott were unable to turn the tide because each
was confined to a one or two theaters in a war that had seven or eight theaters. No one like George
Washington, Ulysses Grant, or Dwight Eisenhower emerged to put his stamp on the war and to
carry the nation to victory. Another reason for the obscurity of this war is that its causes are
complex and little understood today. Most scholars agree that the war was fought over maritime
issues, particularly the Orders in Council, which restricted American trade with the European
Continent, and impressment, which was the Royal Navy s practice of removing seamen from
American merchant vessels. In contemporary parlance, the war was fought

Importance Of False Confessions
In many cases, the reliability of a confession may not be the most prompt when suggesting the
accused is guilty of a crime. Prosecutors as well as police officers often interrogate those believed
are the suspect and obligate a confession. In a study done by Robert A. Nasha and Kimberley A.
Wade, they conducted an experiment to suggest whether or not using technology to alter the video
of the subject performing the task, will lead to a false confessionor by simply mentioning that hey
have evidence to demonstrate the subject being deceptive during the task will also lead to a false
confession. The intriguing research indicates that memory distrust can lead to false confessions. Not
being able to remember or having evidence that coincide with the crime and in this case, hearing
that there is evidence to suggest the crime has been committed alters the accused own beliefs. This
can eventually lead up to not only giving a false confession, but actually believing they committed
the crime. These psychologist initial goal was to evaluate the significance of false confessions
regarding to legal settings as well as clinical settings. During the experiment, the psychologist
conducted an experiment in which thirty random students took part in. During the experiment
subject were told they were being monitored while playing a multiple choice computerized
gambling task. Depending on whether they got the choice correctly they would gain money, if they
got the answer incorrectly they

Analysis Of Technology-Based Education
Another challenge for TBE is the need for compatible technology. In order for learning programs to
share and recycle content, the content needs to be able to interface with a variety of learning
management systems as well as different computer operating systems. For example, Apple
computers have a unique operating system to the more common Windows operating system.
Nevertheless, as these systems were designed, developers can create learningcontent specific to
each system. All that is needed in order for this to function well is for these developers to figure out
how to efficiently integrate a single TBE program into multiple operating systems. This may lead to
high development costs but within the past five years, leading organizations... Show more content

TBE degree programs still lack the level of credibility traditional degree programs. For example,
companies looking to hire degree recipients tend to hire applicants who have received their
degree thru a traditional institution rather than someone who took it online. Additionally, some
companies are skeptical on hiring someone who has taken online classes due to the reason that it
isn t socially accepted as a viable way to obtain a degree. In general, they are concerned that TBE
is more susceptible to cheating and poor quality than traditional face to face and classroom based
learning. The only way for this to resolve itself is time because eventually it will find its way to
the modern eye of everyone.
Although rigorous wide scale research evaluating TBE s effectiveness by any of these criteria is
thin, the available evidence points out that TBE generally seems to work at least as well as
traditional approaches and is often more efficient in costs. Nonetheless, it also seems clear that, to
realize its full potential, TBE should not forgo opportunities for human interaction either face to
face or electronically. It should also provide opportunities for the active engagement of learners,
provide content that is relevant and linked with what learners already know, and offer opportunities
for feedback and support. TBE is rapidly evolving in adopting different principles and methods in
providing everything a stable

Summary Of Cassia In Matched
In the book Matched by Ally Condie the main character Cassia changes drastically throughout the
novel. In the beginning of the novel Cassia has been just like everyone else and blindly following
the rules of the society. When she gets matched with her best friend she is so excited, but when
she sees another person on her microcard she slowly starts to see all the flaws of the society and
what is wrong with what they are teaching her. Cassia changes significantly and observably from
the beginning of the novel to the end. Before Cassia gets matched with Xander, she thought
everything in her society was perfect and that they always had everything under control. She always
thought she was safe and laughed at the idea of violence. When the cottonwood trees are being
cut down and the cotton seeds fly everywhere, everyone gets worried thinking it was snowing in
June. When a man tells them that they are tearing down the trees they all relax realizing that there
was nothing going wrong in their society once again. As Cassia thinks about the logic behind what
the man said she too is relieved and she says, ...thank goodness the Society has things under
control as usual (Condie 28). This shows that she thinks that the society is always right and they
always know what is going on. Since she thinks she is so safe with the society she learns to just
blindly follow what they tellher to say or do and not think or have any free will of her own, but
someone can only be controlled for

How Did William Tweed Lead To The Tamobilier Scandal
William Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall. Tammany Hall was a political organization that
was formed in 1789 and was in opposition to the Federalist Party. The business was very popular
in its time for the willingness it had to help the city s poor and immigrant populations. William
Tweed, however, corrupted the company s reputation, and turned it into an image of greed and
twisted motive. As political boss, Mr. Tweed used his formal and informal authority to make
profit for himself and the other accomplices. The group altogether became known as the Tweed
ring, and somehow they found a way to extort an estimated $30 million to $200 million. Tweed
used this money to become one of the city s largest landowners by the end of the 1860 s.... Show

This company was given contracts to build railroads. Congressmen were then offered great shares
in the construction which allowed the congressmen to approve federal payments without paying
attention to the expenses. This meant that the railroad builders made large amount of profit, but
had no idea how they were affecting the railroad. The railroad companies were entirely
impoverished by the end of the whole process. Those involved in the scandals realized through
time that much more money could be gained from construction contracts than from operating the
completed road. The vice president at the time, Schuyler Colfax, who was then Speaker of the
house, had even bought shares. When the scandal became a public matter, James Blaine
appointed an investigation committee ran by Representative Luke Poland in 1872. Mr. Blain
said that, A charge of bribery is the gravest that can be made in a legislative body. It seems to
me... that this charge demands prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation. . Several of those
officials involved, however, were implicated but not punished. They claimed that the payment
was a gift and not in any way a bribe. Another angered Justice rephrased a passage of scripture,
saying, Let him that has not betrayed the trust of the people , and is without stain, cast the first

was in a way pointing out that the press has manipulated and twisted the view of the public on
many occasions. In that case, the press is without room to place blame and

The Change Between Suspension Bridges Before 1940 and...
Suspension bridges were important before 1940 and are still important today. Major cities such as
San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge
having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers
(dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout
the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. For example, the Tacoma Narrows Bridgewas a
suspension bridgeopened on July 1st, 1940 (Mark Ketchum). This bridge marked a huge point in
suspension bridge safety and engineering, because in collapsed approximately four months after it
was opened (Parsons). The collapse caused such a shock, that suspension... Show more content on

Sometimes the wind would not be perpendicular, in which the oscillation of the bridge was less,
but there was still some oscillation. On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed
because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused
by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like
motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design
of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before
1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main
foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out
of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was
spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the
roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide
tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that
were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it.
Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide
enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. This
was the basic design of the suspension bridges

The Is A Popular Destination For Corporations
In 2012, Eaton Corporation, a global power company, acquired Ireland based Cooper Industries,
an electrical equipment supplier. Overall, this deal is expected to save Eaton $160 million in
taxes by 2016. (Gilleard, 2012). With Corporate Inversions like this on the rise, it is projected that
the United States Treasury could lose up to $19.5 billion dollars over the next 10 years. ( Sloan,
Jeelani,Wahba,Casey Jones, 2014). After the merger of Eaton and Cooper, Eaton s 2013 effective tax
rate was only .6%. This was down from 2.5% in 2012 and 12.9% in 2011. According to Eaton s
Securities and Exchange Commission s filing, much of this decrease was due to their acquisition
of cooper (Drawbaugh, 2014). While corporate inversions are legal, we must ask ourselves if they
are ethical.
Ireland is a popular destination for corporations looking to invert. For one, while the U.S has a
35% tax rate, Ireland only taxes corporations at 12.5%. However, corporate functions need to be
located in areas with good non tax advantages. Tax savings alone do not always justify the costs of
inversion (Marian, 2015). Corporations like Ireland because the country provides numerous non
tax advantages in addition to such a low corporate rate. For one, Ireland has a skilled workforce,
with universities pushing students towards science and engineering. Being a member of the
European Union, corporations headquartered in Ireland have access to over 500 million customers,

Human Relations Theory and People Management
The minutiae of the human soul ... emerged as a new domain for management Nikolas Rose
Conventional textbooks often set up a simple story about organization theory which has a very
appealing structure. In this story, there is a good guy and a bad guy. Who gets to play which role
sometimes shifts, but most often the bad guy is the scientific management approach and the good
guy is human relations theory. This is a flawed story in my view, and the way I will tell the story
emphasizes the many connections and similarities between the two. But I suppose the fact that I am
referring to the two implies that there must be some points of ... Show more content on

It was this which caused the increase in productivity and which demonstrated that the workers
could not be regarded as mere parts in the organizational machine. Thus was born the notion of the
Hawthorne Effect , a staple part not just of organization theory but of social science as a whole.
The other study I want to mention was that conducted in the bank wiring room. Here, a small group
of male workers were engaged in producing electrical components. It emerged that the group set
informal norms around production levels so that, rather than produce their maximum output (which
would earn them a bonus) the workers performed sub optimally. These norms were enforced by a
mixture of peer pressure (including physical sanction) and an unofficial gang leader . This
suggested that workers were not solely motivated by economic

discovery of the human factor, so the story goes, ushered in a new era in which workers needs
were acknowledged and met. This claim fits not just the good guy, bad

My Observation At The Child Development Center
Cady At the beginning of my third observation at the Child Development Center, I decided to
observe a three year old girl that I will call Cady. I chose her because of her irrepressible attitude,
which shown through in all of her actions and loudly voiced opinions. Throughout the semester
not only did I gain developmental information about Cady, I gained some background
information as well. She is the youngest child in the CDC, having only turned three during the
last semester. Not only is she the youngest child at the CDC, she is the youngest of five children
at home. Cognitive Compared to the other three year olds at the CDC, Cady is in some ways
ahead and in other ways behind in her cognitive development. According to Piaget s theory, Cady
should be right at the beginning of the preoperational stage. By Cady s age, children are heavily
involved in make believe play and can use other items to symbolize what they want. Cady is just
as advanced as everybody else she was around and showed this ability all the times she, and other
children were using various types of blocks to build an Elsa Tower . This activity took place
almost every day I was there; the children, and Cady, knew the blocks were not actually building
the ice tower that Elsa made in Frozen, but they continued to pretend and act like it did. Another
limitation of the preoperational stage was the rigid thinking the children have. Great examples were
what happened when someone broke the rules. During

The Civilizations Of Ancient Civilization
Civilization, derived from the latin word civis meaning citizen , or simply someone who lives in
a city. However, what is the difference between a group of people who live in a town and our
modern concept of civilization. To find the answer to that question we can turn to the civilizations
of ancient times. The beginning of civilization as we know it began in the Neolithic era. This era
began with a very distinct change to the way of life, from the old way of migrating constantly to
wherever the food roams to settling down in one area and growing food to sustain oneself. Yet, the
first civilizations were more than just people who stayed in the same place, grew their own food,
and relied on water and shelter. They had something that made them standout from the people
around them. Each ancient civilization had different values and cultures that led to the diverse
institutions founded by these ancient civilizations. The first ancient civilization of the Neolithic era
is that of Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia comes from the greek words meso , in between, and potami
meaning river. This refers to the location of the region of Mesopotamia which lies between the
Tigress and Euphrates Rivers. The first urban society of Mesopotamia is Sumer. One value of
Sumer and of Mesopotamia is the love of religion and the beliefs in their gods. Religion plays a
huge role in the values of the Sumerians as each large settlement has a temple where a priestly
class acts as managers. Worship held a

Improving The Changing Societal Norms Of Operations...
Productivity Check ; Efficiency Check ; Standardization Check ; Reverse Logistics????
Introduction
Manufacturing and Services has undergone many changes and has evolved tremendously over the
years. The evolution is primarily due to dynamic market place which changes according to changing
societal norms. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing
market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing
societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what
beckons for it in the future. History of Operations
The modern operations origin can be traced to the Industrial Revolution which began around
1770s in England. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods
from start to finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available.
With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized
items with simple, flexible tools). It lacked in achieving economies of scale and the process was
too slow.
During 1950s
With the World War II, pressure grew on manufacturing which led to adoption of quantitative
models for different areas of operations management such as project management, forecasting and
inventory.
During 1970 1980s

Shylock as a Villian or Victim in The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
The Merchant Of Venice is the story of Antonio, a merchant, borrowing money from Shylock, a
Jewish moneylender, in order to fund his best friend Bassanio s romantic ambitions. Like the
majority of the habitants of Venice, Antonio is Christian. At the time of the play, the sixteenth
century, there was a huge abhorrence against those who were not Christian. As Antonio needed
money quickly he had no alternative to borrowing from Shylock; Jewish moneylenders made profit
from charging interests. Christians were resentful towards Jews as they were very successful with

This is very villainous. He also disagrees with Antonio s business methods. He lends out money
gratis and brings down the rate of usance. He does not like the fact that Antonio lends money in
order to aid others, without personally gaining anything. This portrayal is that Shylock is a money
grabbing Jew, a stereotypical view held by many.
Shylock, addressing the audience about Antonio, says I will feed fat the ancient grudge I bear
him . Here he is saying that he has an old rivalry with Antonio and wants to gain revenge for what
has happened in past encounters between the two. He doesn t go into much detail about what has

he will never forgive Antonio no matter what will transpire between them.
When agreeing the terms of the contract for the borrowing of the money Antonio speaks
Shylock albeit I neither lend nor borrow by taking nor by giving of excess . Here he is saying
that normally he doesn t pay nor receive interest but as he is desperate for the money he will this

The Process And Importance Of Socialization

June 2, 2017 The Process and Importance of Socialization in Children:
Socialization is the process through which an individual learns to become a functional member of
society. Through socialization, one learns their cultures language, their role in life, what is expected
from them, and what is considered acceptable behavior. Social interaction provides crucial sensory
stimulation, which then leads to the creation of short and long term memories. These memories are
important because they reinforce behaviors or actions in new social situations. Another important
part of the process of socialization is cognitive development, also referred to as modeling (Bandura,

It continues from birth until death. We are continuously being molded into a social creature, and
learning the social ways of acting and feeling. Without the process of molding, society could not
continue, nor would culture exist, nor could an individual become a person. Every person
constantly has to adjust themselves to be accepted by the society of which they are a member of. If
they fail to do so, they re labeled a social deviant and will be put back in line by the efforts of
society. Socialization is constantly reinforced all throughout our lifetime, not solely through just
our parents and teachers, but also through authority figures, messages from institutions, media, and
our culture. Socialization has a significant impact on the way that children perceive themselves
when they are younger and usually continues to affect them as they grow into adulthood. Thus,
sometimes resulting in this defiant, uncontrollable behavior. Children are born into this world
without any knowledge of the social culture. They must go through a long sociological
developmental process in which parents and other influences, attempt to transform them into
socially competent individuals. So, what would a human be like if raised in isolation? There is plenty
of evidence that suggests if humans were raised in extreme isolation, that they would lack many of
the features that we generally identify as human. Without socialization, children cannot and will

Chinese, who were the only ones willing to do the most dangerous and underpaid work. Yet,
Americans have been the most hostile towards the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an

were given the opportunity to work on the Transcontinental Railroad. In the end, hiring the
Chinese was a very wise decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest.
Despite many Chinese being under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese
impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as much dirt with a single swing, but they worked
methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the end of day one, [the Chinese] had
covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was done more carefully (Elish).
Charles Crocker was recorded as saying that, Wherever we put [the Chinese], we found them

were in a hurry for a job of work, it was better to put Chinese on at once (American Experience:

My Greatest Experience
The greatest experience of my life
Can you recall the greatest experience of your life? Football has been a love of mine since I was
a undersized kid. I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my
sundays were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September
24th my dad came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip
which were tickets to go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd.
First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i
ve spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched
growing up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I
knew going into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated
on the season at that point.
Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I
tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like
god made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride.
Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest
showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. Please don t take
points off for this but, I am always curious if teachers read

The View Of Health Care Systems
Discussion and Conclusion
My study illuminates the need to reconceptualise the notion of health care systems in Ghana. The
dual approach of conceptualizing the Ghanaian health care system ignores realities on the ground.
The dual approach as oppose to the triple systems approach, downplays the essence of self care as
a health care seeking option for many Ghanaians (). Findings of this study reveals a prevalence use
of self care are health management option for most of the informants. Self care as a treatment
option involves the use of both biomedical and indigenous medical resources. Although self care is
mostly employed for acute health conditions, it is also employed in the management of chronic
ailment. In the latter case, the person or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dalinjong and Laar (2012), observed their study the NHIS promoted access to biomedical care
services for insured residents in their study areas. This observation is further corroborated by
Tawiah et al., (2016) who attribute improved access for insured persons to the reduced financial
burden of seeking professional biomedical care. Contrarily, such financial cushion for professional
care is not available for professional indigenous care which is increasingly becoming market
oriented or commercialised. Invariably patrons of this form of care mainly resort to direct out of
pocket payments.
Findings of this study shows that the financial burden associated with seeking professional
indigenous care is a major deterrent for most informants interviewed. This finding challenges the
belief that indigenous medicine in Ghana are easily accessible and affordable (Gyasi et al. 2011;
Ae Ngibise et al. 2010; Nsereko et al. 2011; Renckens and Dorlo 2013) compared to biomedicine.
Thus, the notion of affordability of indigenous medicine needs be critically re examined in the
context of the level of usage and the disease or health condition under consideration. The use of the
triple health care system model as employed in this study helps different the levels of usage for
biomedical and indigenous remedies, hence distinguishing between professional and

Roma Culture Research Paper
Abstract
This paper explore the Roma culture with focus on women s health practices. Roma also referred
to as Rom, Rroma, Romani and gypsies are people traveled across the Middle East and Europe,
with some later settling in the United States. Known for their nomadic lifestyle, they are often
marginalized and discriminated against. Roma have strong cultural beliefs with many focusing on
the importance of family and purity. Many aspects of pregnancy are considered impure and
shameful. Many women do not have appropriate prenatal care. The lack of appropriate care
coupled with unhealthy lifestyle choices associated with the Roma can lead to a myriad of
pregnancy complications. The Roma culture is very specific and it is important to provide culturally
competent care. This paper helps focus on aspects to provide better care for this unique culture.

Pregnancy is considered an unclean time during a woman s life because of the belief that the
lower half of the body is shameful and source of pollution. Prenatal care is neglected, and women
learn from other women in their camp about pregnancy and childbirth. Mothers are generally young
and look up to the older women for support and education. Pregnant women must not prepare food

Descriptive Essay About My Sister
I was five years old, standing in an airport waiting for my grandfather when I realized that my
sister and I were very similar. A total stranger changed the way I looked at my sister and myself.
Until this very minute, a minute that changed my outlook, I could not fathom at the time how
my sister and I could in any way be similar, due to the differences in our personalities and how we
reacted differently to a number of situations. We could both be a gadfly to each other and our
parents. My sister enjoyed teasing me and being annoying, working me into a rage, while I
enjoyed being silent and reading anything I could get my hands on. She enjoyed playing outside,
while inside was where I felt I belonged. She was part of the popular group, and I enjoyed the
company of plebeians. These were some of the things different between us that I remember of that
time. There were physical similarities and my sister and I could be mistaken for twins.. Sure, we
looked alike, blondhair, and blue eyes like our dad. We were tall and both active. We resembled
each other, certainly, but in my mind, until we met the strangerand uttered a few words that changed
my outlook, we could not be more different. The moment that changed my outlook that changed my
outlook was not some relative physical similarities that convinced me that we were similar, it wasn
t a familydiner. It was a meeting at the airport where we were waiting for our grandfather when a
complete stranger walked up to us and told

North Korean Political Policies On North Korea
Introduction
Beginning in the early 1940 s, Korea has been a split nation; the great divide that happened in
initially in 1945 was just the beginning of what would become one of the world s most infamous
splits of a country. Radically different in political regime and agenda, these countries provide for a
very complex case study of border conflict. Due to its extremely repressive regime, North Korea
stands as one of the worst places to call home in the world, while South Korea is incredibly more
liberal. Despite the inescapable amounts of propaganda imposed on the citizens of North Korea, the
current generations of North Koreans hold ties to South Korea through separated family, making
South Korea a very attractive but forbidden land. While South Korea continues to center its foreign
policy on loosening the strict rule of the North Korean government, North Korea remains stubborn
and the struggle remains in tow with the stark differentiation between ideologies politically,
militarily, and culturally.
History of Korea
In the mid 10th century, the Silla regime was overtaken by the Goryea regime in what is today
Korea when it was one land, and one people. The name Korea was directly derived from the
pronunciation of the Goryea. (Shelley, 500). The first separation of the territory of Korea came
after World War II ended, and the Soviets occupied the Northern portion of Korea, while the
Americans occupied the Southern portion. This separation was never actually intended to

Plastic And Ocean Pollution
Plastic and plastic based products have turned the American society into a single use, throw away
lifestyle (Eriksen, 154). Due to the introduction of plastic to everyday life, it has become a main
source of pollution and liter to the Earth. Whether it is on the side of the road, being collected in
large masses such as in landfills, or located in the depths of our oceans, plastic has integrated itself
into our environment as well as our society. However, no one environment sees the most impact
from plastic pollutionthan our waterways and oceans. Plastic wastecan enter the ocean a multitude
of different ways such as through illegal offshore dumping, storm water drainage, lost fishing
equipment, overflowing during high volume rain events, improper or lack of sewage treatment of
water, or simply by blowing off of piers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ocean pollution can be found floating in large, island like patches in the middle of the ocean or
washed up on beaches, local and uninhabited. Plastic pollution can be found at the surface of
water or in the deep depths of the ocean, going as far down as the ocean floor (Seltenrich, A36).
Due to its negative buoyancy, most all plastic will begin to sink after entering the ocean. This
becomes an issue because it is very difficult to account for how much plastic is truly in the ocean
when most plastic counting assessments do not test ocean water lower than a few feet of the
ocean s surface. When scientists do not have a clear depiction of exactly how much plastic is in
the ocean, it is very difficult to combat against its effects or understand how to fix the problem.
Ocean pollution can be separated into two different categories: large plastic and microplastics.
Large plastic can be anything from nets, buoys, or ropes used and forgotten by fishermen, to
glass, plastic bags and rubber used by the everyday Americans (Eriksen, 154). This plastic can be
described as the more visual type of pollutant. This type of plastic is also very

A hacking crime is defined as any criminal act when person hacks or breaks into computer system
or computer network in order to illegally obtain sensitive information or disseminate destructive
computer software. In order to effectively combat computer crime and discourage hacking activity,
lawmakers and computer professionals must understand the motivation behind this activity. The
hacking community is a diverse and complicated universe. If the best offense is a good defence,
then the best way to predict potential hacking attempts is to understand the mentality of hackers.

A white hats usually works within the laws of hacker ethic (to do no harm) or as a security experts.
They are interested in improving security of computer system, operating systems, softwares and

resources. A Black hats forces software vendors and systems administrators to fix security
problems by publishing known vulnerabilities. They are associated with anger and hate, whether
against a specific company or country and are often associated with web defacements. They have
no qualms about stealing or destroying data on the networks that they penetrate.A Grey hats lies
between the white hats and black hats. They may surf internet and hack into a computer system for
notifying the administrator that their system has a security defect and then they offer to correct
the defect for fee. There are some examples of hackers like Andrew Auernheimer who sentenced to
3 years in prison is a grey hat hacker whose security group exposed a flaw in AT T s iPad

Comparing Charles Darwin s Idea Of Evolution And Natural...
Charles Darwin had arguably one of the best ideas anyone has ever had, the idea of evolution
and natural selection. Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected
through the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each
species of finch had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were
due to the varying types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different
beaks would help them open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s
idea of natural selectionand survival of the fittest. Darwin realized that the birds were able to
change (or evolve) over time, based on how well their beaks aided in feeding

After World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union were no longer allies and both became
world superpowers in their own right. Since the Joint Commission failed to establish a government
to unify Korea, the country was split into North Korea and South Korea. Because of the United
States and the Soviet Union not being able to build a government together, Korea was divided into
North Korea and South Korea, permanently establishing their own governments. The attempt at
unification failed, then each country (the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic)
worked to politically influence the portion of Korea that they occupied. The Soviet Union pushed
for the spread of communism and the United States pushed for a democratic and capitalistic society.
The United States and the Soviet Union had many resources that allowed them to greatly influence
the development of the part of Korea that they occupied. From 1948 to 1950 the Soviet Union
greatly influenced communism in North Korea by supplying them with weapons and military
supplies (Korean War). The weapons given to the North Koreans helped to advance them in
national security. North Korea had a swift economic recovery with the outside assistance from the

Executive Summary
BrewDog is a company that has gone from strength to strength in its short time since establishment.
The company has been experiencing rapid growth over the past several years. Through extracting
the relevant information from a SWOT analysis on the company, I will look at BrewDog s strengths
and opportunities, leading to analysis of competition, barriers to entry and the threat of substitutes
in proposed future markets. Through this I will show what growth methods are not suitable for the
company, and conclude with my recommendation that simultaneous expansion of the UK and
foreign markets are the most viable growth prospects for the company. I will provide analysis and
discussion to show the validity of this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2 Opportunities
The opportunities for BrewDog are vast and include continuing to expand on its recent trend of
opening BrewDog pubs and bars across the UK, and taking the business global on a larger scale
than it currently is. The company already exports to over 30 countries worldwide (McCulloch,
2013) and although this is of course proving profitable, the intentions of BrewDog in terms of
expansion are focussed mainly on opening new establishments. The company currently has eleven
open bars in Scotland and England, with a flag ship store in Shoreditch, London. Eleven bars is not
a massive amount, particularly looking at the success of the ones they currently have. Although
expansion abroad is no doubt a high priority, it cannot be ignored that BrewDog bars are not present
in Northern Ireland, although the beers are available there for purchase in other establishments and
stores. This is an opportunity for expansion.
The matter of global expansion of the pubs is one that BrewDog seem very interested in, and
understandably so. As mentioned, BrewDog already exports to around 30 different markets, and as
such has a customer base around the world already. An opportunity for growth is to enter the
German market, where the craft beer market is large,

The Murder Of A Green Light
Chief Justice Bird dissented with the majority that second degree murder should not be applied
that believes that the prosecution had to prove two elements of implied malice which are an
intent to kill and a conscious disregard with life. She believes that the majority fail to show the
existence of these two elements in this case. The facts showed that the act of speeding through a
green light can be dangerous, but it is not an act likely to cause the death of another individual.
Also, it was 1 a.m. and the witness testified that there was no other cars around. She compares
the defendant s actions to those of the defendants in People v. Fuller (1978). In this case, the
defendants fled from the police during an attempted auto burglary and began to drive on the
wrong side of the road. This happened in an early Sunday morning, so many cars had to swerve
and avoid the defendants. They ran a redlight and went through two police cars that were trying
to block him off. They ran a second red light and hit a car which resulted in the driver s death.
Chief Justice Bird compares the facts of that case to this one. She compares how in this case the
defendant did not run a red light where the collision occurred and the streets were empty since it
was 1 a.m. She does agree that driving while being under the influence does make driving more
dangerous and can cause more accidents, but he does not believe that driving under the influence is
not enough evidence to establish an act to kill

Brothers William (1820 1854) and John Deans (1817 1851) grew up well educated in the parish
of Kirkstyle, Riccarton, Scotland. Being the first and third sons of John Deans (a well developed
lawyer), the two brothers entered their fathers office with the ambition to follow in his footsteps.
Both brothers trained as in the art of law but William came across news of a new colonising
scheme in New Zealand. The scheme was established through the New Zealand Company and the
British politician Edward Wakefield. William Deans on 10 February, 1840 set sail for Port
Cooper (Lyttelton) and John Deans were among the earliest European settlers of Canterbury. The
brothers became successful farmers and John s widow Jane continued the tradition. The site of
their first farm Riccarton Bush is now a central city park and nature reserve. Being trained as
lawyers through their father s office, it was expected that they would continue the family business
as local lawyers in the town of Riccarton, Ayrshire. Despite this, after hearing Edward Wakefield s
schemes to colonise in New Zealand, the brothers interest turned from law to moving to New

Persuasive Tactics In Generation Why By Zadie Smith Persuasive Tactics In Zadie Smith s essay Generation Why , Smith uses many types of persuasive tactics to convince the readers that Facebook or social media is ruining the generations. Her goal was to give the readers a distinct perspective on how they perceive the social networks. Throughout the essay you may find her words to be offensive or sarcastic, but she still manages to get her point across. However, three specific tactics stood out to me. They are ethos, pathosand logos. I read this articleby Big Fish Presentations called 3 Ways to Persuade Your Audience. In the article, the Big Fish presenters talked mainly on the topic of ethos, pathos and logos. They stated, When used effectively, these three appeals can be powerful tools for achieving a speaker s persuasive goal. However, I feel to believe that Zadie Smith did not execute all three of them for these tactics to be successful or effective in her essay. There are many distinguishable ways that she could have utilized ethos, pathos and logos. However, the manner that she went about it was unexploited. First, I would like to start by talking about Zadie Smith s use of ethos in her essay Generation Why. The first example is in the first paragraph. Everyone knows that drinking and driving is dangerous, but don t realize it affects the driver, passengers, and people on the streets. The laws should be stricter about underage drinking, there should be more education about the consequences of drinking and driving, and the drinking age should not be lowered. Even though under age drinking is illegal, teenagers are starting to drink at younger ages, which is leading to risky behaviors (Dedel). Some common behaviors known to happen while under the influence include, driving, property damage, rape, and other violent crimes. The major problem for teenagers is driving while they are under the influence. The laws need to be stricter when it comes to under age drinking. Most teenagers do not have the mindset to drink responsibly and can lead to negative effects, that could not only harm them but harm other people too. Police need to crack down on all underage drinkers so that nobody does anything that could harm them, like getting into a car and driving or riding in a car with someone who is drunk.. CocE is capable of degrading cocaine and therefore the harmful effects of cocaine are diminished. CocE has the potential to save lives of individuals that are unfortunately under the control of cocaine. CocE was isolated from the genomes of bacteria living around the plant, E. coca. CocE was initially derived from Pseudomonas maltophilia strain MB11L (9). Shortly after, cocE was isolated from the bacterium, Rhodococcus sp. strain MB1. Bacteria such as these have adapted to their surrounding environment. These bacteria have acquired the specialized ability to use cocaine produced by the plant as their sole source of carbon and nitrogen (10). In the environment of a harsh toxin, cocaine, these bacteria can still obtain energy necessary to thrive and flourish. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, although life with a new baby can be both thrilling and rewarding, it can also be a difficult and quite stressful task. Most women make the transition without great difficulty, yet some women experience considerable complexity that may manifest itself as a postpartum psychiatric disorder (O hara, Hoffman, Philips, Wright, 1992). Many physical and emotional changes can occur to a woman during the time of her pregnancy as well as following the birth of her child. Untreated postpartum affective illness places both the mother and infant at risk and is associated with significant long term effects on child development and behavior; therefore, prompt recognition and treatment of postpartum depression are essential for both the maternal and infant s well being. Postpartum Psychosis Conclusively, at the other end of the spectrum is the truly devastating postpartum psychosis. This is known as a relatively rare disease that occurs in approximately 1 2 per 1,000 women after childbirth (Campbell et al, 1991). The condition resembles a rapidly evolving manic episode with symptoms such as restlessness and insomnia, irritability, rapidly shifting depressed or elated mood, and disorganized behavior. The mother may have delusional beliefs that relate to the infant, or she may have hallucinations that instruct her to harm herself or her child. Nonetheless, risks for infanticide and suicide are high among women with this disorder. As these patients often suffer from delusions and suicidal tendencies, the consequences of this disease to both mother and child are significant. Furthermore, depressed mothers have an increased risk of relapsing and/or continued psychiatric illness. Depressed mothers often show a more negative attitude toward their children, and an injured new mother puts significant emotional and perhaps economic burdens on family relationships. The ... • 21. The War Of New Orleans The War of 1812 is probably our most obscure conflict. Although a great deal has been written about the war, the average American is only vaguely aware of why we fought or who the enemy was. Even those who know something about the contest are likely to remember only a few dramatic moments, such as the writing of The Star Spangled Banner, the burning of the nation s capital, or the Battle of New Orleans. Why is this war so obscure? One reason is that no great president is associated with the conflict. Although his enemies called it Mr. Madison s War, James Madison was shy and deferential, hardly measuring up to such war leaders as Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, or Franklin Roosevelt. Moreover, the best American generals in this war Andrew Jackson, Jacob Brown, and Winfield Scott were unable to turn the tide because each was confined to a one or two theaters in a war that had seven or eight theaters. No one like George Washington, Ulysses Grant, or Dwight Eisenhower emerged to put his stamp on the war and to carry the nation to victory. Another reason for the obscurity of this war is that its causes are complex and little understood today. Most scholars agree that the war was fought over maritime issues, particularly the Orders in Council, which restricted American trade with the European Continent, and impressment, which was the Royal Navy s practice of removing seamen from American merchant vessels. Major cities such as San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers (dictionary.com). On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before 1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it. Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. For one, while the U.S has a 35% tax rate, Ireland only taxes corporations at 12.5%. However, corporate functions need to be located in areas with good non tax advantages. However, what is the difference between a group of people who live in a town and our modern concept of civilization. To find the answer to that question we can turn to the civilizations of ancient times. The beginning of civilization as we know it began in the Neolithic era. This era began with a very distinct change to the way of life, from the old way of migrating constantly to wherever the food roams to settling down in one area and growing food to sustain oneself. Yet, the first civilizations were more than just people who stayed in the same place, grew their own food, and relied on water and shelter. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what beckons for it in the future. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods from start to finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available. With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized items with simple, flexible tools). In 1760 Haydn married Maria Anna Keller, who had no interest in music. Their marriage did not turn out well and they did not have any children. However, Haydn had a love affair with Luigia Polzelli. At a very young age Joseph Haydnwas very talented, so his parents sent him to live with Johann Matthias Frankh, their relative, who would train Haydn in music. Later in 1752 Haydn started to work as an assistant composer in exchange for lessons to composer Nicola Porpora. In 1758 he worked for Ferdinand Maximilian von Morzin, and Haydn was in charge of sixteen musicians in an orchestra. During the 1760s he started to become popular all over Europe. Haydn worked for Morzin for three years until he started working at the Esterhazy palace. He was twenty nine when he was named the Vice Kapellmeister, court musician, at the Esterhazy palace. In 1766 Gregor Werner, the old Kapellmeister, died and Haydn became the full Kapellmeister. After composing at the Esterhazy palace for nearly thirty years, the prince let Haydn go back to Vienna because he started missing his friends. • 39. The Civil Of Chinese Immigrants On The Transcontinental... Migrating to America in search of new opportunities, sadly, the Chinese were referred to as Chinks and coolies. Throughout history, Americans have been in debt to immigrant groups, like the Chinese, who were the only ones willing to do the most dangerous and underpaid work. Yet, Americans have been the most hostile towards the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an Exclusion Act. During the 19th century, 80,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States during the Gold Rush, but they found no gold only nativists who did not want them there. In the end, hiring the Chinese was a very wise decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest. Despite many Chinese being under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as much dirt with a single swing, but they worked methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the end of day one, [the Chinese] had covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was done more carefully (Elish). I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my sundays were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September 24th my dad came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip which were tickets to go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd. First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i ve spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched growing up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I knew going into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated on the season at that point. Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like god made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride. Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. The dual approach of conceptualizing the Ghanaian health care system ignores realities on the ground. Findings of this study reveals a prevalence use of self care are health management option for most of the informants. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dalinjong and Laar (2012), observed their study the NHIS promoted access to biomedical care services for insured residents in their study areas. This observation is further corroborated by Tawiah et al., (2016) who attribute improved access for insured persons to the reduced financial burden of seeking professional biomedical care. Contrarily, such financial cushion for professional care is not available for professional indigenous care which is increasingly becoming market oriented or commercialised. Invariably patrons of this form of care mainly resort to direct out of pocket payments. Findings of this study shows that the financial burden associated with seeking professional indigenous care is a major deterrent for most informants interviewed. This finding challenges the belief that indigenous medicine in Ghana are easily accessible and affordable (Gyasi et al. 2011; Ae Ngibise et al. 2010; Nsereko et al. 2011; Renckens and Dorlo 2013) compared to biomedicine. Thus, the notion of affordability of indigenous medicine needs be critically re examined in the context of the level of usage and the disease or health condition under consideration. The use of the triple health care system model as employed in this study helps different the levels of usage for biomedical and indigenous remedies, hence distinguishing between professional and ... • 43. Descriptive Essay About My Sister I was five years old, standing in an airport waiting for my grandfather when I realized that my sister and I were very similar. A total stranger changed the way I looked at my sister and myself. Until this very minute, a minute that changed my outlook, I could not fathom at the time how my sister and I could in any way be similar, due to the differences in our personalities and how we reacted differently to a number of situations. We could both be a gadfly to each other and our parents. My sister enjoyed teasing me and being annoying, working me into a rage, while I enjoyed being silent and reading anything I could get my hands on. She enjoyed playing outside, while inside was where I felt I belonged. She was part of the popular group, and I enjoyed the company of plebeians. These were some of the things different between us that I remember of that time. There were physical similarities and my sister and I could be mistaken for twins.. Sure, we looked alike, blondhair, and blue eyes like our dad. We were tall and both active. We resembled each other, certainly, but in my mind, until we met the strangerand uttered a few words that changed my outlook, we could not be more different. • 45. North Korean Political Policies On North Korea Introduction Beginning in the early 1940 s, Korea has been a split nation; the great divide that happened in initially in 1945 was just the beginning of what would become one of the world s most infamous splits of a country. Radically different in political regime and agenda, these countries provide for a very complex case study of border conflict. Due to its extremely repressive regime, North Korea stands as one of the worst places to call home in the world, while South Korea is incredibly more liberal. Despite the inescapable amounts of propaganda imposed on the citizens of North Korea, the current generations of North Koreans hold ties to South Korea through separated family, making South Korea a very attractive but forbidden land. While South Korea continues to center its foreign policy on loosening the strict rule of the North Korean government, North Korea remains stubborn and the struggle remains in tow with the stark differentiation between ideologies politically, militarily, and culturally. History of Korea In the mid 10th century, the Silla regime was overtaken by the Goryea regime in what is today Korea when it was one land, and one people. The name Korea was directly derived from the pronunciation of the Goryea. (Shelley, 500). However, no one environment sees the most impact from plastic pollutionthan our waterways and oceans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ocean pollution can be found floating in large, island like patches in the middle of the ocean or washed up on beaches, local and uninhabited. Plastic pollution can be found at the surface of water or in the deep depths of the ocean, going as far down as the ocean floor (Seltenrich, A36). Due to its negative buoyancy, most all plastic will begin to sink after entering the ocean. This becomes an issue because it is very difficult to account for how much plastic is truly in the ocean when most plastic counting assessments do not test ocean water lower than a few feet of the ocean s surface. When scientists do not have a clear depiction of exactly how much plastic is in the ocean, it is very difficult to combat against its effects or understand how to fix the problem. Ocean pollution can be separated into two different categories: large plastic and microplastics. Large plastic can be anything from nets, buoys, or ropes used and forgotten by fishermen, to glass, plastic bags and rubber used by the everyday Americans (Eriksen, 154). This plastic can be described as the more visual type of pollutant. This type of plastic is also very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected through the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each species of finch had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were due to the varying types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different beaks would help them open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s idea of natural selectionand survival of the fittest. The Murder Of A Green Light Chief Justice Bird dissented with the majority that second degree murder should not be applied that believes that the prosecution had to prove two elements of implied malice which are an intent to kill and a conscious disregard with life. She believes that the majority fail to show the existence of these two elements in this case. The facts showed that the act of speeding through a green light can be dangerous, but it is not an act likely to cause the death of another individual. Also, it was 1 a.m. and the witness testified that there was no other cars around. She compares the defendant s actions to those of the defendants in People v. Fuller (1978). In this case, the defendants fled from the police during an attempted auto burglary and began to drive on the wrong side of the road. This happened in an early Sunday morning, so many cars had to swerve and avoid the defendants. They ran a redlight and went through two police cars that were trying to block him off. They ran a second red light and hit a car which resulted in the driver s death. Chief Justice Bird compares the facts of that case to this one. She compares how in this case the defendant did not run a red light where the collision occurred and the streets were empty since it was 1 a.m. She does agree that driving while being under the influence does make driving more dangerous and can cause more accidents, but he does not believe that driving under the influence is not enough evidence to establish an act to kill ...
