The Treatment Of Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medication, has been an increasingly utilized therapy in
recent years. The cells added to the body interact with the surrounding body, making the regenerative
process available to begin the healing process of the cells at the site (R. (2014)). These therapies are
used to heal common sport injuries such as a knee injury, diseases, arthritis, and many other crippling
effects that may occur in the human body (R. (2014)). Many of the stem cells that are used from the
therapies can come from bone marrow, fat,and blood from the patient or even cells from more
controversial areas such human embryos. Stem cell therapy has shown a lot of promising effects, not
only outshining the effects of prescription medicine given out to patients from doctors, but it has also
shown that the therapy has long term effects than a steroid would have had.
Stem cell therapy is important because it has given hope to several people with common illnesses such
as arthritis, knee pains, and back pains by regenerating their cells to realize the pain that they are in.
Most of the patients who come in for sport related injuries are professional athletes. Most of the time
these athletes are the ones who have obtained a knee injury in basketball or football and are resorting
the use of a steroid to try to fix the pain, but soon realize that it is not a long lasting effect. This is
where stem cell therapy comes into play. Chris Johnson from the New York Jets was one

E. Cummings Create Meaning
E.E. Cummings uses incomplete sentences and made up words to create meaning. How is that
possible? Edward Estlin Cummings was born in 1894, in Cambridge Massachusetts. He went to
Harvard to study Impressionism and Cubism. He has created many poems and has had a successful
life. The question here is, How does E.E. Cummings use vision and hearing to create meaning? E.E.
Cummings creates meaning by using Visual and Auditory techniques. To begin with, E.E. Cummings
uses visual techniques to create meaning. One way he used visual techniques is by creating his poems
in many different shapes and forms including spaces and parenthesis. For example, in document A, the
poem looks like a number one. Also in his poem, r p o p h e s s a g r he uses a

The Importance Of Long Distance Relationships
Everyone has different ideas of what a long distance relationship is; to some it may mean being on
opposite sides of a state, country, or even the world. It seems that as the miles between two partners
increases the strain on their relationship and communication increases as well. In recent years the
number of long distance relationships have experienced a steady increase, focusing mostly around
relationships between college aged partners. According to the McKinnel s Paradigm (1994) as
mentioned in Extended Communication Efforts Involved With College Long Distance Relationships ,
nearly one third of students in college or universities are involved in some form of a relationship
involving distance defined by a 50 mile radius (Firmin, Firmin, Merical, 2013). College aged partners
are not the only ones that interact with the struggles of a long distance relationship; many military and
immigrant partnerships also face the strain of finding fulfilling modes of communication.
Communication is one of the foundational building blocks of any relationship. When distance is
factored into the communicative properties of a relationship, the relationship tends to suffer. As time
and technology have advanced, this communicative downfall has become more manageable for any
type of relationship.
Katheryn C. Maguire and Terry A. Kinney explore the ideas of satisfaction across long distance vs.
proximal relationships as well as concepts surrounding stressors and the influence distance can

Andy Johnson Missions Summary
We know several people who have been on short term mission trips. Perhaps you ve even been on one
yourself and proclaimed to others that you gained more from that trip than the people you went to
serve. Maybe you re a full time missionary living in another nation (at least for the majority of the
year). Most likely, you re an average church member who knows the Great Commission but doesn t
feel called to long term overseas ministry. Regardless of where you stand, Missions by Andy Johnson
is an excellent introduction to missions. Johnson provides readers with ways to be mission minded,
live missional lifestyles, and serve those who are on mission at home and abroad.
Starting with a biblical foundation of missions, readers are called to make

Elijah McCoy
Elijah McCoy was an African American who had may inventions that changed the world of train
travel, but faced many hardships along the way. Elijah McCoy was born in Colchester, Ontario,
Canada, and was later sent to Edinburgh, Scotland by his parents to study mechanical engineering, he
then moved to Detroit, Michigan. Due to racism he could only get a job as a fireman or oilman on a
steam engine train. McCoy s first invention the automatic lubricator was a revolutionary way of
lubricating steam engines without having to shut them down for long periods of time which saved an
enormous amount of time and effort in transportation.
And the people of Detroit have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the train industry growing the need for bigger trains and freight cars were a must and James J.
Hill builder of the Great Northern Railroad he made this happen building trains 4 times the size of the
old ones. They used a super heated steam system that made Elijah McCoy s first patent of the
lubricating system not compatible with these newer trains. These trains were lubricated with a mix of
oil and powdered graphite so that the trains parts could be lubricated properly. The problem with
Elijah s first patent is that with the new mix of graphite the lubricator would clog up. This all changed
in April of 1915 when he received a patent for a new and improved lubricator in which he called
Locomotive Lubricator with this patent he stated that it permitted the use of graphite without clogging.
Hayden Cites a railroad superintendent states We have found the McCoy Graphite Lubricator to be of
considerable assistance in lubrication of locomotives equipped with superheaters. There is a decided
advantage in better lubrication and reduction of wear in valves and piston rings, and as a well
lubricated engine is more economical in the use of fuel, there is unquestionably a saving in fuel. When
Elijah McCoy was younger his parents ran away from the United States using the underground
railroad due to racism and them being slaves. Elijah McCoy and his eleven

The Glass Castle Character Analysis
In The Glass Castle , pages 62 121, some of the characters have an experience that makes them
undergo a change in character. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig deep into the text you can see
how the characters are affected, and possibly make some predictions of how this is later relevant to the
story. Some of the predictions and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on
evidence from the story. Jeanette, Brian, and Lori all go through a transformation after they each
experienced some sort of distressing event. The first transformative event happens to Jeanette in the
hot pool. Jeanette s father is trying to teach her how to swim by throwing her into the deep water and
telling her to sink or swim. When she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next transformative event happens to Brian. Brian was intrigued by The Green Lantern since it
was a place his parents had always warned them about. Brian was dared to go talk to the woman on
the porch, with whom he became smitten with. After this event, it can be inferred that Brian started
distrusting what his parents had to say since he didn t have a bad experience. Later on his birthday,
Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with
Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out,
she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d
already read it all the way through twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were
doing since he read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going on
in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to Ginger which makes Brian
angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that moment. I think the comic book was a symbol
Brian s innocence and he was holding onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was
with him and helped him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another
reason he was so angry to let it go. In addition, Jeanette hints at Brian knowing what they did since he
knows that the women make

Allusions In Daddy s Daddy
Allusions in Daddy help express the speaker s view of her father, as well as developing the conflict
between them. The allusions reveal a parent that is physically and mentally abusive, leading to
immense anger towards the father but also a need of that abusive behavior. The speaker uses allusions
that are revealing about her father s characteristics like that her father is a strict man, as she was
Barely daring to breathe or Achoo. She believed that her father treated her with neglect and compares
herself to a foot, being poor and white , as well as living in black shoe . The speaker believe that her
father was also a godly figure as she refers to him as marble heavy and a statue , but she feels it
necessary that she kills him.

The United States As A Christian Nation
Was the United States Founded as a Christian Nation? Have you ever wondered why people in the
American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once
instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were.
Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were
centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of
Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religion in politics, members of
society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the
United States was founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country, starting
with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the Church of
England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order to express
religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by earlier
Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as support
that America was founded as a Christian nation. Fast forward to the late 1700 s, where both the
Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution had been written. These documents
both showed signs of a Christian foundation with multiple references to God. As stated in the
Declaration, [They] hold

Eugenics Negatives
The goal of eugenics is to racially cleanse and create a population with pure blood excluding the
tainted blood of the unfit. Eugenics according to Calum MacKellar and Christopher Betchel, is a
general enhancement of humanity. Dorthy Porter in Darwinian Disease Archaeology states, Eugenics
is the study of human hereditary in order to manipulate human breeding to influence evolutionary
progress. Although there are advantages to eugenics, there are numerous more negatives. Eugenics can
not only cause a whole race to be destroyed but can also cause innocent lives to be killed because they
were not worth living. This has created world wide debates. Eugenics can be used to make a perfect
society; however, eugenics can lead to social discrimination, less diversity, and more disappointments
in children. Although proponents of eugenics believe it can create a more fit society, it can lead to
major inequalities. As explained by MacKellar and Betchel, Eugenic practices might also result in a
widened definition of disability and discrimination against the disabled. Eugenics can give parents an
opportunity to test if their child will have a specific genetic disease. This can lead to parents either
aborting the embryo or fetus and sometimes infanticide. By doing this Dorthy Porter, the author of
Darwinian Disease Archaeology states, [it is] freeing humanity of deviant DNA. Parents are doing
this, as George who wrote Ethics, Politics, and Genetic Knowledge puts it, for the

Essay About Teenagers
I believe the children are the future are the words of the late Whitney Houston which many heard
while growing up. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few
people want to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think
they are grown. The people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the
main reasons why they have been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making
aspect of their lives; they manage to do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless
as they believe their friends are always right. This results in them being out of control where parents
and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being
involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on their social behavior, their risk of STD
s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but they love to follow their friends.
Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work and house work if they had
any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed, and it has not changed
for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular point in time,
unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does that even
make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions.
Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to
speak to their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be
noticed when these teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are
gone. Little good morning is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary.
Parents, teachers and some friends cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and
behave rambunctiously when spoken to. These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way.
Going to school with bite marks on them just to prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in
which this

3d Printing In Archaeology
Will 3D printing revolutionize our understanding of archaeology? 3D printing is a captivating
advancement of technology that has profuse uses. Different from all the previous manufacturing
methods, 3D printing generates a product in an additive mode to form an intricate three dimensional
object, and therefore has the ability to produce the most complicated irregular object. This unique
characteristic deems it highly impactful for archaeology, where the structures of historical human
forms and the tools they used are often very complicated and unique, and there are currently no simple
means to reproduce and study them. Clearly, 3D printing and scanning has many useful benefits to
archaeology, and there is definitely room for improvement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First of all, plastic is the main material in most printers, and this material biodegrades EXTREMELY
slowly: 450 to 1,000 years! This would create a serious environmental problem if objects were
discarded and thrown into landfills, especially because technology is bound to become cheaper, and
this will lead to more people owning personal 3D printers. Another worrying aspect is the fact that
guns and other weapons can be 3D printed with ease, though it would take quite a long time. Already
some people own their own 3D printer, and the numbers are sure to rise in the following decades. It
will be quite difficult to keep tabs on the printers, causing a dangerous issue. Of course, if the trouble
increases, it is always possible for the government to set a law stating that only individuals with a
license can own 3D printers. The difficulties don t end there, though. Consider this dilemma. If every
single human in the world owned a personal 3D printer and scanner, what would happen to
businesses? If there was a product someone took interest in, they could simply print it at home without
spending any money! In archaeology, complications arise as well. In order to print larger artifacts, you
need a substantially larger 3D printer. If you were to replicate a house, a relatively sizable printer
would be required, along with a large stock of plastic and a printer larger than a house. This also
means that the cost of

The Stress Level Of The Employee
The first place an employee should start when trying to alleviate stress is with his own responses. The
awareness level of the employee is a crucial factor here in that recognition of the problem is needed
before any self help can occur. Once the employee recognizes the problem, he has a good range of
possible remedies.
Short term avoidance can be used to calm the feelings. Walk away from the situation for a brief time.
When you feel the stress level building past the point of tolerance, remove yourself to a calmer area
such as a quiet room or a walk in the park. The cooling off period allows for rational reflection.
Sharing your situation with a trusted friend or colleague is very often the remedy. You receive
feedback and empathy from a more objective party and this perspective will help resolve your stress.
Enlist the help of someone at work who will be sympathetic and assist you to alleviate the stress. This
kind of relationship is a two way street so you must respond in like fashion to your ally.
Laughter is the best policy. Not taking the whole thing too seriously is a good step to relieving the
stress level. Take a look at the situation fro a different perspective; often just breaking the tension is a
way to start resolving the problem.
On a more formal basis, you can take steps to address the issue by requesting a detailed job
description that will give you a fresh look at your responsibilities. Perhaps you can determine if the
complaints you have are grounded

Marie Antoinette Was To Blame For The French Revolution
The Archduchess of Austria, Marie Antoinette, married Louis XVI of France at the young age of 14.
After seven years of marriage and no children, Marie s mother sent her son to act as a marriage
counselor for the couple, and they had their first child a year later. She became Queen of France after
Louis s father died, yet had no political power and was often left to her own devices, including lavish
spending and eloquent parties. In her early years as queen she spent a lot of time at the Petit Trianon, a
summer castle and gift from her husband, where rumours circulated about her having an affair with
Swedish diplomat Count Axel von Fersen, which in reality was a platonic crush. At her estate she
redecorated everything extravagantly, rumours saying she plastered the walls with gold and diamonds,

advisers and ambassadors sending letters to European rulers begging to help them. With the help of

Tribute To Exercise
Exercise should be regarded as a tribute to the heart, Gene Tunney. In fact, exercise improves the lives
of people in and around the world by providing them with a holistic sense of well being and can even
help prevent chronic illness, disability, and premature death. Some of the benefits of increased activity
are improved health, reduced high blood pressure, reduced high cholesterol levels, reduced sleeping
disorder and reduced risk of major illness such as diabetes and heart disease. According to Collins
dictionary, exercise can be defined as a series of movements or actions which you do to get fit,
remains healthy, or practice for a physical education.
Therefore, it is positioned that one of the benefits of exercise is to improve physical health and quality
of life. Most people tend to gravitate towards exercise because it helps to reduce the risk of premature

A Genre Analysis of Graduate-Level Reading Response Blogs...
Introduction
As a community, academics are increasingly accepting the use of public, online, journal style writings
known as weblogs (blogs) as a valid pedagogy for the classroom. The attraction of using blogs within
a classroom setting stems mainly from the discursive possibilities that the new technology offers:
namely, that blogs allow for a discussion of nearly any topic in a socially moderated medium that
encourages participants to compare, expand upon, and modify their understanding of that topic in
relation to the ideas of their peers. While these discourses may serve any variety of purposes, one
growing use of the medium is as a format for reading responses a somewhat traditional pedagogical
approach within Composition Studies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, because they are written by students seeking advanced degrees, their language, sophistication,
and features are likely in sharp contrast to blogs written by undergraduate and K 12 students. Finally,
they do not appear to follow any special criteria for classroom blogs, although (as will become evident
in the following analysis) they do display a few moderating characteristics that show evidence of
conformity to a common set of discursive moves and practices.
The value of the academic blog, both in general and in its many sub genres, is that it allows students to
write for an audience broader than the teacher (who inevitably becomes the real audience for most
graded assignments) and yet narrower and more specific than the often described general academic
audience; in other words, by writing for and often responding to their peers, students are able to
develop a rhetorical awareness of audience that they are rarely afforded in more traditional
assignments

The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock Analysis
The Love Song of J, Alfred Prufrock by T.S Eliot is a poem about anxiety. The poem explores the
social and introspective aspects of Prufrock s life as the poem s narrative follows him on a journey
through his city. Eliot uses simile, figurative imagery, free verse, and a first person voice to tell a story
about anxiety. Eliot masterfully uses simile and figurative imagery in The Love Song of J, Alfred
Prufrock. Eliot s use of simile is best found in the poem s famous opening line: Let us go then, you
and I, / When the evening is spread out against the sky / Like a patient etherized upon a table (1,2,3).
Here, Prufrock punctuates his personal invitation to the reader with simile intend to create vivid
images in the mind of the reader. Prufrock s descriptive control of the poem is of subtle but crucial
importance to the poem. Eliot uses figurative imagery in the description of the journey Prufrock and
the reader are undergoing. As the reader steps into Prufrock s world Prufrock uses creative
descriptions to entice the reader : The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window panes, The
yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window panes, Licked its tongue into the corners of the
evening, Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains. (15,16,17,18) Prufrock animates the fog of the
city as a cat by giving it aspects such as a back, a muzzle, and a tongue. Through this animation of the
city the reader can picture the surroundings as an overarching force that influences Prufrock s thoughts
and actions. The Language devices serve to describe the unique world into which the reader has
entered. Prufrock s descriptions further allow the reader to see the world through his eyes and truly
engage with the poem: The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase, / And when I am formulated,
sprawling on a pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall (56, 57, 58). Through his
descriptive control of the universe the reader has entered, Prufrock can use elaborate descriptions of
the external world to show his inner thoughts. In this fashion Prufrock shows the reader his underlying
issues with anxiety and loneliness. The style of The Love Song of J, Alfred Prufrock is free verse.

My Senior Year Research Paper
One of my most meaningful achievements I have worked for has to be my academic awards. In my
senior year of high school I earned a silver and gold medal for having good grades. I got a gold medal
because I had A s or B s in most of my classes (except maybe one or two), and a silver for having
mostly B s and I think a couple C s. I earned these after each semester of my senior year. I know this
will help to keep me motivated throughout the school year at The Art Institute of Phoenix because I m
a hard worker. I don t like the feeling of failing or having the possibility to fail. I take my work very
seriously and I like to test myself with new things. I can see myself very comfortable in being a game

Christian Gipson s Quest For Attention
As the naked eye scopes the congested room of students, this particular individual appears almost
unnoticeable. At first sight, the eye can only distinguish him by his pristine, Harry Potter bifocals that

attention. In this moment, he stands static with both his hands resting in his pockets, examining the
happenings of the room. Suddenly, I feel an instinctive snap in my brain telling me that I am eyeing a

Women In The Handmaid
The rarity of fertile women would suggest that they would be treated better by society due to the
importance of their work but that is not the case. Handmaids, whose only job is to engage in a sexual
ceremony with men and give birth to healthy babies, are the most shunned in society, despite their
invaluableness. Sex in Gilead is understood to be something impersonal, emotionless. It is not done
out of love or desire but for the purpose of reproduction only.
The taboo of sex does not only affect women. Low ranking officers, like Guardians, are not permitted
to touch a woman until they are promoted to a higher rank and therefore assigned a wife. If they earn
enough power later they might even get a Handmaid of their own (Atwood 2010, 32).

Poisoning by Ingestion of Corrosive Chemicals
Introduction: Acute corrosive poisonings are caused by ingestion of corrosive chemicals which are
most commonly used as household agents. Intoxications with these kind of agents produce numerous
and severe post corrosive complications of the upper gastrointestinal tract. On the other hand, our
experience showed that corrosive agents may also cause injuries of the respiratory system, which
makes the treatment very hard and additionally complicates the severe clinical condition of the patient.
Objective: The aim of the study is to show the incidence of respiratory complications in acute
corrosive poisonings, the need of various clinical investigations and also the treatment and final
outcome of these kind of poisoning.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical records of 415 patients hospitalized and treated at the
University clinic for toxicology and urgent internal medicine, in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, in
the period between 2007 and 2011. The protocol consisted of methods for analyzing the systemic
complications, with an accent on the post corrosive respiratory complications.
Results: From the total number of patients even 98 (23.61%) exhibited systemic complications, from
which 51 (52.04%) are respiratory complications. The majority of patients are female (n=40, 78.43%)
and the most common complication is pneumonia (n=47). The youngest patient in this study was 14

Farmer s Market
What is a common American food market? To me, an International student from China, the first
impression of American markets is the large dense stores like Wal Marts that include all kind of food
and supplies. It is a wonderful place that has efficiency and cheapness. However, in Michael Pollan s
article Food Fight, he mentions Although cheap food is good politics, it turns out there are significant
costs to the environment, to public health ... food has come back into view. (Pollan 109) Whereas my
opinion about the American markets is great for its convenience, Pollan says the cheap food these
supermarkets supply is actually bad for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People that have lower income cannot afford the price of better food; therefore those people would
choose to shop in large groceries for its lower price and larger quantity. In Pollan s word,
supermarkets sell cheap and unhealthy food to consumers while Farmer s Market can afford
consumers better options. However People can still get better organic food in supermarkets at lower
price these days. It actually applies that supermarkets nowadays are serving better quality food from
local farms just as what Pollan s idea of Farmers Market but with wholesale price. Consumers now
prefer supermarkets for its increasing better quality food and stable price.
Also, as I mentioned before, supermarket is really convenient for consumers for not only having better
quality food in lower price but also serving multi options in a large amount. Compare to the
supermarkets, the space of Farmer s Market is limited, which leads to the food options are limited.
Farmer s Market cannot satisfy every consumer s need of food. From what I observed in Berkley s
Farmers Market, the food options is really being restricted. Farmer s can only get food that is easy to
be carried and kept like fruits, vegetables and made up articles for selling, and consumers, in the other
hand, have limited options. Also, not everyone has the ability to get the food from Farmer s Market for

Genetic Testing And Identification Of Dna Extraction
Introduction.
Extracting DNA from available cells is a widely used practice with applications such as forensics,
genetic testing and victim identification to name a few. DNA extractions have been widely practiced
for decades. This report simply summarises our results comparing two methods.
The tests compared the effectiveness of the often cited salting out method based on Sunnucks and
Hales (1996) method of DNA extraction from aphids, with a science at home style method of DNA
extraction according to the NHGRI s video how to extract DNA from strawberries (2010)
This made use of household detergent as a surfactant to allow the DNA out of the cell and its contents.
This method is cheaper to run, not involving costlier laboratory chemicals like Proteinase K. (Ciulla,
Sklar and Hauser, 1988, page 488)
Each requires high precision to differentiate between samples from different individuals, and it is ideal
to produce accurate results from a small sample. The sample must consist only of DNA for gel
electrophoresis to give proper results, containing no protein or lipid impurities.
The samples must be pure to be comparable, something that the YouTube method cannot offer with
reliability due to not using Proteinase K, which was applied early in the salting out method to denature
proteins for later removal.
The YouTube method is predicted to obtain DNA, but not with the same consistency or accuracy as
the salting out method, due to the lack of time and

Autotomy Essay
Abstract Autotomy occurs in many animals, but most research focuses on lizards as the trait occurs in
the majority of all lizard families (Downes Shine, 2001). The most common form of autotomy in this
order is caudal autotomy, relating to the tail. What has possibly made this adaptation so advantageous
is the ability of many lizard species to regenerate their tail after autotomy. Being able to grow a
secondary tail that can perform the same antipredator function is highly beneficial, and other tail
functions such as post autotomous thrashing and bright coloration enhance autotomous behavior
greatly. The loss of a limb may appear catastrophic for some organisms, but there are many species
that will do it voluntarily when faced with a threat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some species, post autotomous tails retain the ability to flex, diverting the attention of the predator
away from the escaping lizard to the rapidly undulating tail. Acrobatic flips are occasionally
performed by the severed tails of some species, and many others enjoy great dexterity even when not
attached to their parent body (Hingham Russell, 2009). The movement of the autotomized tail is
independent of brain activity and is instead governed by a network of neurons inside the spine. While
predictable central pattern generators are not uncommon in nature, lizard species like the Tokay gecko
(gekko gecko) have incorporated erratic and complicated movements into their autotomized tail
displays (Hingham Russell, 2009). This unpredictable behavior is meant to appear novel and thus
noticeable to the predator, preventing it from pursuing the rest of the gecko body. The mechanism of
tail loss involves the coordination of many tissues in the tail to prevent serious damage or danger to
the lizard. Vertebrae are specialized in intravertebral autotomous lizards, containing a fracture through
the side of vertebra near the disconnection site (Gilbert et al 2013). Most autotomous lizards contain
fractured vertebrae, but a few others autotomize intervertebrally, separating between

Hurricane Andrew Research Paper
Hurricane Andrew is a storm that destroyed South Florida, and the Bahamas, and ripped through
Louisiana, costing as much as 26 billion dollars.
Hurricane Andrew was formed of the west coast of Africa on August 14. When it passed the
Caribbean, the pressure system made it stronger. From there, the wave moved the storm to the North
Atlantic. People had started to leave the area right before the Hurricane started. Schools and
businesses were shut down, it hit Dale County Florida at 5:00 a.m. August 24, and it was high tide
when the waves hit. There was weird lightning streaks of blue greenish colors, and thick streams of
water. Some people said it sounded like bombs were going off. Roofs were no longer to be seen and
windows were broke glass everywhere. The waves surges were up to twelve feet high. High winds up

The waves were still high at 10 feet. The power started going out when the storm was about 40 miles
from land and 1.4 million people were without power (Provenzo JR. Provenzo, 2002). It slammed into
the Bahamas at 120 mph. Where buildings were toppled, bungalows out from their roots, and luxury
hotels only had broken winds (Longshore, 1998). Several days before it had produced a deep
convection, that had high pressure (Rappaport, 1993). On August 26, the storm was getting weaker
everyday. A cold front was moving east and downgraded the storm to tropical. Soon when the
Hurricane got to Pennsylvania, the storm faded away. Some people tried to dismantle their houses to
see what was left (Sherrow, 1998). After the storm over, 11 inches of rain had fallen in Louisiana, and
7 inches in Mississippi (Rappaport, 1998). 275 small planes were no longer functionable. Over 325

4G Advantages And Disadvantages
Abstract The next generation wireless networks are the fourth generation (4G) networks which are
targeted for various applications; voice, data and multimedia communications. The mobile
technologies 1G, 2G and 3G have lot of disadvantages which has led to the invention of 4G. As the
users of mobile devices increase the demand for faster and efficient communication in the mobile
network also increase. 4G aims to provide the quality of service (QoS) guarantee for many
applications, is an important intension in the design of next generation wireless networks. The authors
concentrate on the 4G architecture and its comparison with 3G networks. The main focus is on three
important mechanisms such as cross layer approach, a novel QOS optimization architecture and robust
header compression technique with some header compression mechanisms with respect to different
QoS parameters.

Essay on The Island Of Dr. Moreau
In 1896 H. G. Wells had the first edition of The Island of Dr. Moreau ; published. The book took place
primarily on an island in the Pacific Ocean. On this island Dr. Moreau and his assistant (
Montgomery) performed dangerous, secret experiments on humans and animals. When Wells wrote
this he knew nothing about DNA, cloning, or chromosomes but he did use his scientific imagination.
Wells realized that society was beginning to rely on science too much in the late nineteenth century.
He wrote this book to issue a stern warning for future societies against their own scientific
advancements. He knew that just like his society others will want to quench their appetite for this tasty
treat called vivisection or cloning. He knew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has created a whole new atmosphere in which to read this book one in such Wells predicted by
writing this book. Wells would be disappointed at our disregard of his warning.
Another important theme that Wells tried to convey to us was that doing experiments on humans and
animals were unethical. He at first tells us of the locked room where these animals and humans were
being operated. He shows that they wanted to keep it a secret until they could trust their scientific
advancements in the hands of the public. It is just like today because when you find a new formula or
anything you have to keep it a secret before others find out. When others find out they will and can
take their ideas and experiments and I think that is why Dr. Moreau secluded himself from the public.
Dr. Moreau also knew that people would not approve of his scientific studies especially in the late
nineteenth century. Wells was trying to show us that Moreau was just a scientist not a mean psychotic
out of control person. He wanted what every scientist wanted and that was success but he took it a
little past what his culture viewed as normal. If Moreau had executed his experiments in the light of
his peers in the science world he would have been persecuted. Wells tried to let this doctor run free
with his experiments but found

Social Theorist, Postmodernist Jean Baudrillard And...
Commercials can give insight to the society in which they are marketed toward. Advertisers attempt to
connect with their target group. This attempt can be a reflection of the society in which that market
group lives. Although it can be argued whether we are in a modern or postmodern society,
commercials can utilize aspects from both theories to market and advertise their products. I take a
closer look at two commercials and examine how they would be interrupted by two distinct social
theorist, postmodernist Jean Baudrillard and modernist George Ritzer.
Chevron created a series of commercials where animated talking cars were portrayed as sentient
talking beings. These commercials started airing around the time when Disney and Pixar were making
the movie Cars in 2006. Chevron was aware of the marketing opportunity and produced commercials
that were very similar to the concept of the movie. The commercial I am referencing, portrays an SUV
taking on the persona of an outdoors enthusiast. The care is shown using emotion and being a sentient
being. The nature of the commercial is multifaceted. It is intended to entertain the viewer while
informing how techron gasoline from Chevron is beneficial for a car s engine, this has the additional
effect of creating a need for the product. It is easy to identify that the commercial was intended to be
entertaining. It is whimsical and was different than other commercials for gas. The marketing does not

Assessing Education As An Educator
Assessing Education
As an educator in an ever demanding society the roles that are required are not only numerous but
critical to future prosperity as well. For years educators have been in the mix of progress from
promoting revolutions, establishing rights, setting up protocols and they are the communicators of the
very essence of knowledge itself. From Plato and Aristotle to Sigmund Freud and Erik Erickson
education has made great leaps and bounds to keep up with society; however, one question always
comes up. How are they sure that the methods they practice are effective? To combat and reinforce the
standards that education was setting up assessments would become the norm for testing out how
knowledge was being transitioned from teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking a look inside the classroom there are numerous examples of being used interchangeably to
infer information. Many institutions issue out end of the year survey s or course evaluations that allow
students to rate the effectiveness of the teacher and to recommend changes to the curriculum.
Summative assessments appear in the classrooms as the more popular types of assessments receiving
grades at the end of a semester, or taking placement exams at the beginning of registration for
students. As one can see with the examples listed both forms of assessment are commonly being used
and have different avenues for teachers to implement them into the lesson plan. Knowing that these
are the two main categories many students or critics of the education community pose the question on
whether to keep assessments separate or to combine them into one big field. While combining the two
types may seem reasonable on paper, within the education community being able to get feedback from
the students is how teachers can test their effectiveness and recognize which aspects of the lesson need
to be tailored. While summative assessments are important to the student because this is the more
recognized way of proving ones knowledge in a specific area. Collecting, inferring and testing these
results have become the system we know today. The

The Purpose Of A Case Study
Media research indicates that journalistic standards and practices are socially constructed systems,
which deal with complex work processes by organising news flow and explicating roles and
competencies (Tuchman 1978; Fishman 1980). The case study method is regarded as a valid tool to
analyse a complex issue. A case study is defined as an empirical inquiry that investigates a
contemporary phenomenon within its real life context (Yin 2003: 13). It is best used to understand
complex social and organisational issues. Case study evidence to answer research questions and
contribute to theory development originates from a variety of sources, such as documentation, archival
records, interviews (qualitative or quantitative) and observation. In this ... Show more content on

The second is that it is not easily open to generalisation but if it is contextualised and carefully
described then others can consider its usefulness in other contexts and examples (Wisker 2001:191).
Finally, Dominick and Wimmer argue that case studies are likely to be time consuming and may
occasionally produce massive quantities of data that are hard to summarise (1987: 165). With regard
to this study, I would like to argue that the strengths of observations outweigh the weaknesses. In
addition, there is simply no other method that applies better to what I want to investigate. The findings
are not representative of all newsrooms experimenting with convergence since the research is derived
from one case. Therefore I do not wish to generalise any findings from this case study. I tried to

Drivers Of Stability Of Mali
DRIVERS OF STABILITY IN MALI Percy L. Jones II MCCC 04 15 July 30, 2015 Drivers of
Stability in Mali The West African country of Mali has from time to time been mired in un ending
overlapping humanitarian, political, economic, and security crises. Notably, the situation in the
country became worse when the government was destabilized and later overthrown in a 2012 military
coup. Following the coup, insurgents were quick to capitalize on the resulting power vacuum and
seize a greater portion of this country s vast sparsely populated north. As of 2013, a number of loosely
connected extremist groups including Al Qaeda were in full control of most towns in the northern
region. It is estimated that the region that has from time to time fallen under their control is as large as
Texas. In as much as the number of insurgent combatants (mainly Islamic) seems to be relatively
small, they are now notorious, and have become more entrenched. The seriousness of their
entrenchment is boosted by the fact that they have gone as far as ousting a separatist group of ethnic
Tuaregs that had initially been very influential, even in recruiting members among locals. Meanwhile,
the nominally civilian dominated government (based in the capital Bamako) formed in the post coup
period continues to be weakened gradually by continuous internal wrangles and military interference.

Game Description Of Rainbow Brain
Rainbow Brain
Game Description
Rainbow Brain is a board game developed for children ages four and up that incorporates various
developmental processes to help children learn and master certain skills and concepts. It comes with a
colorful board, six game pieces, one die, a pencil and drawing pad, a one minute timer, and clay. The
timer, pencil, paper, and clay will be used for the creation part, which will be discussed more in detail.
We start by having the youngest player go first and then have each player take their turn, going around
clockwise. Each player takes turns rolling a die. The number the die lands on determines the amount
of spaces the player moves their game piece. Each space on the board is colored: red, orange, yellow,
green, blue, and purple. Whatever color the player lands on, he/she will pick up a card from its
corresponding deck. There are six decks of cards: three different concepts of development with two
different types of tasks for each concept. The tasks for the concept of number are in the red and orange
decks. The concept for categorical concept is used in tasks throughout the yellow and green decks.
The concept for drawing and symbolic representation are the blue and purple decks. Example cards
are provided at the end. Each player must complete the task written on the card, and if the task is not
completed or is incorrect, they will have to move back one space. Ideally, this game should last 30 45
minutes if everyone cooperates and plays well

Walmart s Sustainable Business Development
Walmart s Sustainable Business Development

practices of Walmart as well as looking at Walmart s strategic management perspectives and what type
of impact and influences they have on the external forces in the industry. While also focusing on
Walmart s concept of value creation applied to SBD (sustainable business development) and their

Defining
Sustainable business philosophies are a system of fundamental or motivating principles that a business
handles in different areas of operation based on the actions or beliefs of that business. For businesses
to have a sound business philosophy is the cornerstone of a successful business (Burney, n.d). The
businesses philosophy is usually the company s mission and vision statement, which explains the
company s overall goals and their purpose of being in business (Burney, n.d.). Mission statements are
a guide for a company to develop and implement a corporate sustainability strategy and are usually
incorporated in a company s sustainability report (Epstein Buhovac, 2014). Sustainable business
practices are when a business initiates environmentally friendly operations internally and externally to
become a sustainable organization and to reduce their environmental footprint by cutting down on
waste (Belcher, n.d.).
Strategic management perspectives are how a company views and solves important issues in order to

The Ottoman Hexagonal Tile With Floral Pattern
The Ottoman Hexagonal Tile with Floral Pattern is located in the Art from Islamic Lands gallery, in
room 2550, on the second floor of the Arthur M. Sackler Museum on the Harvard University Campus.
The object number is 1960.102. It is located with a series of Ottoman tiles on the easternmost wall of
the one room gallery. The tile, created between 1520 and 1540, is from Ä°znik, Turkey. It is composed
of fritware ceramic painted underglaze. The base of the tile is a white underglaze glaze, and all
decoration is in various shades of blue underglaze. The shape is a hexagon with a circular,
symmetrical floral pattern derived from a central focal point. This tile had meticulous work put into its
design, showing the concern of its artist to emulate cultural tradition and destiny on a single ceramic
hexagon.
Fritware is a form of pottery where frit is added to the clay in order to lower the necessary fusion
temperature. This version of ceramics was popular in Ä°znik, Turkey, the leading producer of decorative
tiles during the Ottoman Empire. Underglaze is a technique in which decoration is painted to the piece
before it is glazed. However, underglaze uses certain pigments derived from oxides that fuse with the
glaze, thus restricting the color palette. The original color found to work by the Chinese was cobalt
blue, and this is present on the Ottoman tile. In addition, the Ä°znik factories used turquoise, purple,
green and red in later years. Because this tile is from the earlier part

Tragic Events In American History
The military attack carried out by the Imperial Japanese Navy on the United States naval base at Pearl
Harbor was a tragic occurrence in United States history. On December 7, 1941, the barrage led to the
loss of more than two thousand American lives. Americans under no circumstances believed the
Japanese would plan a direct attack on American soil due to the inconveniences and especially not in
Hawaii of all places. Nevertheless, the tragic event led to the involvement of the United States in
World War II after two years of conflict.
Nearly seventy four years later, while perusing a menu at a local Chinese restaurant in Stockbridge,
Georgia, the choice wording of sushi rolls raised a red flag. Names such as Pearl Harbor Roll and
Atomic Bomb Roll were listed under the Chef s Special Rolls along with Kamikaze Roll at the
establishment where the Japanese cuisine is also offered to customers. My family and I have dined at
the restaurant previously, but never before took notice of such details within the menu. As an
American whose great grandfather served in World War II, I was appalled upon discovering the
tolerance of such names by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a human race, we become more and more inattentive as the years pass and begin to lack respect for
others whether in terms of culture or otherwise. Upon entering restaurants, it is common to see the
faces of every mother, father, and child in a family lit up by the bright screens of smartphones rather
than observing their surroundings and/or taking note of peculiar occurrences. If we, as Americans,
permit discreet mocking of the American military and culture by allowing such appellations in
establishments, what else will we allow as a

Happiness In The Movie Pursuit Of Happiness
Believing in self or self trust could save someone s life and lead life into the right direction toward
success. It did in Pursuit of Happyness where Mr. Gardner was losing control over his life until he
trusted himself. Then his life started to turn around and when he believed in himself, everyone else
believed in him and he succeed. Losing something of value can cause pain but when self trust is lost,
there is not much to do when you don t have self trust. When self trust is present, believing and
achieving soon follow leading to success in life. When America wrote the Declaration of
Independence, one of the most important, and well known lines was Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness . Something that is interesting to look into is why Thomas Jefferson put pursuit of happiness
instead of just happiness . The pursuit of happiness is about the journey, the good and the bad. Getting
through the hard times knowing there s light at the end of the tunnel. If happiness is always present,
there is no pursuit then happiness is suddenly taken away, and the person doesn t know how to pursuit
it again due to no pursuit at the beginning of happiness. The actual pursuit to happiness is more
important than the happiness itself due to the fact that happiness can be taken away at anytime but the
pursuit to get back will always be there. This is shown through the movie Pursuit of Happyness and
how self trust is so important in someone s life. In the movie, Mr. Gardner loses his wife, his
apartment, and almost loses his kid. He couldn t catch a break, everything that could go wrong went
wrong did. What he didn t lose what his self trust; that he could provide for little boy, be the father
figure his kid needs, and still be on the pursuit of happiness when it seemed like happiness was a
million miles away. The job he was applying for was a stockbroker and it was him and 20 other smart
people fighting for it. Nobody thought he could do it, not even his own wife who left him shortly after.
One example of self trust in the movie is when Mr. Gardner and his son Christopher are playing
basketball and talking then Mr. Gardner said You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can t do

Some of the data are already in the case and some of the assumptions related with Pasta research are
also valid for pizza case, because BASES drew on prior experience with products of similar price,
nutrition and target consumer characteristics while determining these values.
Without knowing actual product quality, three scenarios are created, one each for mediocre, average,
and excellent product.
Volume of basic kit and complementary toppings are projected separately. Eckstein estimated that
wholesale volumes needed to exceed $12M to meet the company s return requirements. This means
minimum business requirement is $18,5M.
According to the calculations based on these assumptions and data, even if the product quality is
below the expectations, minimum business requirements can be achieved. So, financially it is a
profitable product and TruEarth should launch it. 6. Market Research Analysis
According to the market researches(Exhibit 3 and Exhibit 7); demand on pasta is greater than the
pizza but target households for pizza is above the target of pasta market.
When we compare the test results (Exhibit 8) with the findings for pasta (Exhibit 4), the main
difference is about the price of the product, many of the testers think that new pizza concept is too
expensive and they also think that

250 Word Post Analysis
When it comes to creating blogs for a law firm, the length of the post is going to depend upon the firm
s focus and goals. A 250 word post is not going to achieve the same results as a 1,200 word post, and
that must be taken into account when picking what word count is right for your company.
250 word posts I have found that posts of this level are great for simple safety tips, which make them
great for personal injury lawyers. For my example post, I found a recent bicycle accident in Salt Lake
City and offered bike safety tips.
600 word posts For a post of this length, I can go into a little more detail. I will generally try to
include more links to laws or other authoritative sources. For example, in the post about child custody
in Massachusetts, I provided links to the Massachusetts legislature, allowing readers to see the exact
wording of the laws.
900 word post I think is the perfect level for deeper topics, particularly those that may be not well
understood by the average client. I chose to focus on brain injuries because I felt these are injuries
those seeking the services of a personal injury attorney may have experienced. ... Show more content

For my post, I looked at some misconceptions about domestic violence and offered some basic advice
for those trying to get away from an abusive relationship. Because many potential law firm clients
come to the site looking for quick information, these posts might not be something a law firm would
use every week. They may want to buy shorter posts on a weekly basis and one 1,200 word post each
month. I think they would work well for a firm that has lawyers that focus on different types of law.
One month could be a personal injury post. The next month might be divorce advice. A third month
might focus on DUI advice. After several months, they would have in depth posts on several areas of

Reflection To Return To The Classroom Culture As A...
Reaction to Ginott Quote The Ginott quote reminds me of my years as a preschool teacher. I had times
that I was more inspiring than torturous, and times that were more miserable than joyous.
Unfortunately, this same sediment echoed down the halls of the school. I was a requested teacher and I
knew that I loved to work with kids, but I was having a hard time being trapped in a room with them
for eight hours. I lacked knowledge and resources but fully understood the impact I had on the
children in the class. I knew I had to leave and learn, before I did damage. The variation in the way
that I viewed my position is one of the reasons I returned to school to continue my education. That
was almost four years ago. Since then, I have completed my bachelors and am working on my
masters. I plan to return to the classroom culture as an elementary school counselor. During my hiatus,
there was a lot of time to reflect on things that I did well and things that I need to improve on. There
are three areas within the Ginott quote that relate to areas of improvement: 1) personal approach, 2)
daily mood, 3) escalate crisis. Personal Approach. According to Ginott, It is my personal approach that
creates the climate (Hardin, 2013, p. 11 12). I was known for having extravagant themed lessons.
Costumes were created, pictures where taken, and a lot of hard work went into planning and
implementing these events. When I was excited to come to school the kids were excited to be

  • 2. The Treatment Of Stem Cell Therapy Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medication, has been an increasingly utilized therapy in recent years. The cells added to the body interact with the surrounding body, making the regenerative process available to begin the healing process of the cells at the site (R. (2014)). These therapies are used to heal common sport injuries such as a knee injury, diseases, arthritis, and many other crippling effects that may occur in the human body (R. (2014)). Many of the stem cells that are used from the therapies can come from bone marrow, fat,and blood from the patient or even cells from more controversial areas such human embryos. Stem cell therapy has shown a lot of promising effects, not only outshining the effects of prescription medicine given out to patients from doctors, but it has also shown that the therapy has long term effects than a steroid would have had. Stem cell therapy is important because it has given hope to several people with common illnesses such as arthritis, knee pains, and back pains by regenerating their cells to realize the pain that they are in. Most of the patients who come in for sport related injuries are professional athletes. Most of the time these athletes are the ones who have obtained a knee injury in basketball or football and are resorting the use of a steroid to try to fix the pain, but soon realize that it is not a long lasting effect. This is where stem cell therapy comes into play. Chris Johnson from the New York Jets was one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Edward Estlin Cummings was born in 1894, in Cambridge Massachusetts. He went to Harvard to study Impressionism and Cubism. He has created many poems and has had a successful life. The question here is, How does E.E. Cummings use vision and hearing to create meaning? E.E. Cummings creates meaning by using Visual and Auditory techniques. To begin with, E.E. • 4. The Importance Of Long Distance Relationships Everyone has different ideas of what a long distance relationship is; to some it may mean being on opposite sides of a state, country, or even the world. It seems that as the miles between two partners increases the strain on their relationship and communication increases as well. In recent years the number of long distance relationships have experienced a steady increase, focusing mostly around relationships between college aged partners. According to the McKinnel s Paradigm (1994) as mentioned in Extended Communication Efforts Involved With College Long Distance Relationships , nearly one third of students in college or universities are involved in some form of a relationship involving distance defined by a 50 mile radius (Firmin, Firmin, Merical, 2013). College aged partners are not the only ones that interact with the struggles of a long distance relationship; many military and immigrant partnerships also face the strain of finding fulfilling modes of communication. Communication is one of the foundational building blocks of any relationship. When distance is factored into the communicative properties of a relationship, the relationship tends to suffer. As time and technology have advanced, this communicative downfall has become more manageable for any type of relationship. Katheryn C. Maguire and Terry A. Kinney explore the ideas of satisfaction across long distance vs. proximal relationships as well as concepts surrounding stressors and the influence distance can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hill builder of the Great Northern Railroad he made this happen building trains 4 times the size of the old ones. They used a super heated steam system that made Elijah McCoy s first patent of the lubricating system not compatible with these newer trains. These trains were lubricated with a mix of oil and powdered graphite so that the trains parts could be lubricated properly. The problem with Elijah s first patent is that with the new mix of graphite the lubricator would clog up. This all changed in April of 1915 when he received a patent for a new and improved lubricator in which he called Locomotive Lubricator with this patent he stated that it permitted the use of graphite without clogging. Hayden Cites a railroad superintendent states We have found the McCoy Graphite Lubricator to be of considerable assistance in lubrication of locomotives equipped with superheaters. There is a decided advantage in better lubrication and reduction of wear in valves and piston rings, and as a well lubricated engine is more economical in the use of fuel, there is unquestionably a saving in fuel. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig deep into the text you can see how the characters are affected, and possibly make some predictions of how this is later relevant to the story. Some of the predictions and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on evidence from the story. The next transformative event happens to Brian. Brian was intrigued by The Green Lantern since it was a place his parents had always warned them about. Brian was dared to go talk to the woman on the porch, with whom he became smitten with. Later on his birthday, Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were doing since he read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going on in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to Ginger which makes Brian angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that moment. I think the comic book was a symbol Brian s innocence and he was holding onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was with him and helped him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another reason he was so angry to let it go. • 9. The United States As A Christian Nation Was the United States Founded as a Christian Nation? Have you ever wondered why people in the American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were. Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religion in politics, members of society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the United States was founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country, starting with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the Church of England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order to express religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by earlier Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as support that America was founded as a Christian nation. Fast forward to the late 1700 s, where both the Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution had been written. These documents both showed signs of a Christian foundation with multiple references to God. As stated in the Declaration, [They] hold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eugenics according to Calum MacKellar and Christopher Betchel, is a general enhancement of humanity. Dorthy Porter in Darwinian Disease Archaeology states, Eugenics is the study of human hereditary in order to manipulate human breeding to influence evolutionary progress. Although there are advantages to eugenics, there are numerous more negatives. Eugenics can not only cause a whole race to be destroyed but can also cause innocent lives to be killed because they were not worth living. This has created world wide debates. Eugenics can be used to make a perfect society; however, eugenics can lead to social discrimination, less diversity, and more disappointments in children. Although proponents of eugenics believe it can create a more fit society, it can lead to major inequalities. As explained by MacKellar and Betchel, Eugenic practices might also result in a widened definition of disability and discrimination against the disabled. Eugenics can give parents an opportunity to test if their child will have a specific genetic disease. This can lead to parents either aborting the embryo or fetus and sometimes infanticide. • 12. Essay About Teenagers I believe the children are the future are the words of the late Whitney Houston which many heard while growing up. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few people want to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think they are grown. The people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the main reasons why they have been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making aspect of their lives; they manage to do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless as they believe their friends are always right. This results in them being out of control where parents and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on their social behavior, their risk of STD s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but they love to follow their friends. Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work and house work if they had any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed, and it has not changed for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular point in time, unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does that even make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions. Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to speak to their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be noticed when these teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are gone. Little good morning is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary. Parents, teachers and some friends cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and behave rambunctiously when spoken to. These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way. Going to school with bite marks on them just to prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in which this ... • 14. 3d Printing In Archaeology Will 3D printing revolutionize our understanding of archaeology? 3D printing is a captivating advancement of technology that has profuse uses. Different from all the previous manufacturing methods, 3D printing generates a product in an additive mode to form an intricate three dimensional object, and therefore has the ability to produce the most complicated irregular object. This unique characteristic deems it highly impactful for archaeology, where the structures of historical human forms and the tools they used are often very complicated and unique, and there are currently no simple means to reproduce and study them. Clearly, 3D printing and scanning has many useful benefits to archaeology, and there is definitely room for improvement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, plastic is the main material in most printers, and this material biodegrades EXTREMELY slowly: 450 to 1,000 years! This would create a serious environmental problem if objects were discarded and thrown into landfills, especially because technology is bound to become cheaper, and this will lead to more people owning personal 3D printers. Another worrying aspect is the fact that guns and other weapons can be 3D printed with ease, though it would take quite a long time. Already some people own their own 3D printer, and the numbers are sure to rise in the following decades. It will be quite difficult to keep tabs on the printers, causing a dangerous issue. Of course, if the trouble increases, it is always possible for the government to set a law stating that only individuals with a license can own 3D printers. The difficulties don t end there, though. Consider this dilemma. If every single human in the world owned a personal 3D printer and scanner, what would happen to businesses? If there was a product someone took interest in, they could simply print it at home without spending any money! In archaeology, complications arise as well. In order to print larger artifacts, you need a substantially larger 3D printer. If you were to replicate a house, a relatively sizable printer would be required, along with a large stock of plastic and a printer larger than a house. This also means that the cost of ... Introduction As a community, academics are increasingly accepting the use of public, online, journal style writings known as weblogs (blogs) as a valid pedagogy for the classroom. The attraction of using blogs within a classroom setting stems mainly from the discursive possibilities that the new technology offers: namely, that blogs allow for a discussion of nearly any topic in a socially moderated medium that encourages participants to compare, expand upon, and modify their understanding of that topic in relation to the ideas of their peers. The value of the academic blog, both in general and in its many sub genres, is that it allows students to write for an audience broader than the teacher (who inevitably becomes the real audience for most graded assignments) and yet narrower and more specific than the often described general academic audience; in other words, by writing for and often responding to their peers, students are able to develop a rhetorical awareness of audience that they are rarely afforded in more traditional assignments ... • 22. The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock Analysis The Love Song of J, Alfred Prufrock by T.S Eliot is a poem about anxiety. The poem explores the social and introspective aspects of Prufrock s life as the poem s narrative follows him on a journey through his city. Eliot uses simile, figurative imagery, free verse, and a first person voice to tell a story about anxiety. Eliot masterfully uses simile and figurative imagery in The Love Song of J, Alfred Prufrock. Eliot s use of simile is best found in the poem s famous opening line: Let us go then, you and I, / When the evening is spread out against the sky / Like a patient etherized upon a table (1,2,3). Here, Prufrock punctuates his personal invitation to the reader with simile intend to create vivid images in the mind of the reader. Prufrock s descriptive control of the poem is of subtle but crucial importance to the poem. Eliot uses figurative imagery in the description of the journey Prufrock and the reader are undergoing. As the reader steps into Prufrock s world Prufrock uses creative descriptions to entice the reader : The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window panes, The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window panes, Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening, Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains. (15,16,17,18) Prufrock animates the fog of the city as a cat by giving it aspects such as a back, a muzzle, and a tongue. Through this animation of the city the reader can picture the surroundings as an overarching force that influences Prufrock s thoughts and actions. The Language devices serve to describe the unique world into which the reader has entered. Prufrock s descriptions further allow the reader to see the world through his eyes and truly engage with the poem: The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase, / And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall (56, 57, 58). Through his descriptive control of the universe the reader has entered, Prufrock can use elaborate descriptions of the external world to show his inner thoughts. In this fashion Prufrock shows the reader his underlying issues with anxiety and loneliness. The style of The Love Song of J, Alfred Prufrock is free verse. While Eliot will occasionally ... • 28. Analysis Of Michael Pollan s Article Food Fight Name: Dongxu Ma English 1A Instructor: G. Ziff Assignment 2 Date: 01/10/2014 Draft 1 Farmer s Market What is a common American food market? To me, an International student from China, the first impression of American markets is the large dense stores like Wal Marts that include all kind of food and supplies. It is a wonderful place that has efficiency and cheapness. However, in Michael Pollan s article Food Fight, he mentions Although cheap food is good politics, it turns out there are significant costs to the environment, to public health ... food has come back into view. (Pollan 109) Whereas my opinion about the American markets is great for its convenience, Pollan says the cheap food these supermarkets supply is actually bad for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People that have lower income cannot afford the price of better food; therefore those people would choose to shop in large groceries for its lower price and larger quantity. In Pollan s word, supermarkets sell cheap and unhealthy food to consumers while Farmer s Market can afford consumers better options. However People can still get better organic food in supermarkets at lower price these days. It actually applies that supermarkets nowadays are serving better quality food from local farms just as what Pollan s idea of Farmers Market but with wholesale price. Consumers now prefer supermarkets for its increasing better quality food and stable price. Also, as I mentioned before, supermarket is really convenient for consumers for not only having better quality food in lower price but also serving multi options in a large amount. Compare to the supermarkets, the space of Farmer s Market is limited, which leads to the food options are limited. Farmer s Market cannot satisfy every consumer s need of food. From what I observed in Berkley s Farmers Market, the food options is really being restricted. Farmer s can only get food that is easy to be carried and kept like fruits, vegetables and made up articles for selling, and consumers, in the other hand, have limited options. Also, not everyone has the ability to get the food from Farmer s Market for its location and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Genetic Testing And Identification Of Dna Extraction Introduction. Extracting DNA from available cells is a widely used practice with applications such as forensics, genetic testing and victim identification to name a few. DNA extractions have been widely practiced for decades. This report simply summarises our results comparing two methods. The tests compared the effectiveness of the often cited salting out method based on Sunnucks and Hales (1996) method of DNA extraction from aphids, with a science at home style method of DNA extraction according to the NHGRI s video how to extract DNA from strawberries (2010) This made use of household detergent as a surfactant to allow the DNA out of the cell and its contents. This method is cheaper to run, not involving costlier laboratory chemicals like Proteinase K. (Ciulla, Sklar and Hauser, 1988, page 488) Each requires high precision to differentiate between samples from different individuals, and it is ideal to produce accurate results from a small sample. The sample must consist only of DNA for gel electrophoresis to give proper results, containing no protein or lipid impurities. The samples must be pure to be comparable, something that the YouTube method cannot offer with reliability due to not using Proteinase K, which was applied early in the salting out method to denature proteins for later removal. The YouTube method is predicted to obtain DNA, but not with the same consistency or accuracy as the salting out method, due to the lack of time and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Autotomy Essay Abstract Autotomy occurs in many animals, but most research focuses on lizards as the trait occurs in the majority of all lizard families (Downes Shine, 2001). The most common form of autotomy in this order is caudal autotomy, relating to the tail. What has possibly made this adaptation so advantageous is the ability of many lizard species to regenerate their tail after autotomy. Being able to grow a secondary tail that can perform the same antipredator function is highly beneficial, and other tail functions such as post autotomous thrashing and bright coloration enhance autotomous behavior greatly. The loss of a limb may appear catastrophic for some organisms, but there are many species that will do it voluntarily when faced with a threat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some species, post autotomous tails retain the ability to flex, diverting the attention of the predator away from the escaping lizard to the rapidly undulating tail. Acrobatic flips are occasionally performed by the severed tails of some species, and many others enjoy great dexterity even when not attached to their parent body (Hingham Russell, 2009). The movement of the autotomized tail is independent of brain activity and is instead governed by a network of neurons inside the spine. While predictable central pattern generators are not uncommon in nature, lizard species like the Tokay gecko (gekko gecko) have incorporated erratic and complicated movements into their autotomized tail displays (Hingham Russell, 2009). This unpredictable behavior is meant to appear novel and thus noticeable to the predator, preventing it from pursuing the rest of the gecko body. The mechanism of tail loss involves the coordination of many tissues in the tail to prevent serious damage or danger to the lizard. Vertebrae are specialized in intravertebral autotomous lizards, containing a fracture through the side of vertebra near the disconnection site (Gilbert et al 2013). Most autotomous lizards contain fractured vertebrae, but a few others autotomize intervertebrally, separating between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hurricane Andrew was formed of the west coast of Africa on August 14. When it passed the Caribbean, the pressure system made it stronger. From there, the wave moved the storm to the North Atlantic. On this island Dr. Moreau and his assistant ( Montgomery) performed dangerous, secret experiments on humans and animals. When Wells wrote this he knew nothing about DNA, cloning, or chromosomes but he did use his scientific imagination. Wells realized that society was beginning to rely on science too much in the late nineteenth century. He at first tells us of the locked room where these animals and humans were being operated. He shows that they wanted to keep it a secret until they could trust their scientific advancements in the hands of the public. It is just like today because when you find a new formula or anything you have to keep it a secret before others find out. When others find out they will and can take their ideas and experiments and I think that is why Dr. Moreau secluded himself from the public. Dr. Moreau also knew that people would not approve of his scientific studies especially in the late nineteenth century. Wells was trying to show us that Moreau was just a scientist not a mean psychotic out of control person. He wanted what every scientist wanted and that was success but he took it a little past what his culture viewed as normal. If Moreau had executed his experiments in the light of his peers in the science world he would have been persecuted. Wells tried to let this doctor run free with his experiments but found ... This attempt can be a reflection of the society in which that market group lives. Although it can be argued whether we are in a modern or postmodern society, commercials can utilize aspects from both theories to market and advertise their products. I take a closer look at two commercials and examine how they would be interrupted by two distinct social theorist, postmodernist Jean Baudrillard and modernist George Ritzer. Chevron created a series of commercials where animated talking cars were portrayed as sentient talking beings. These commercials started airing around the time when Disney and Pixar were making the movie Cars in 2006. Chevron was aware of the marketing opportunity and produced commercials that were very similar to the concept of the movie. The commercial I am referencing, portrays an SUV taking on the persona of an outdoors enthusiast. The care is shown using emotion and being a sentient being. The nature of the commercial is multifaceted. It is intended to entertain the viewer while informing how techron gasoline from Chevron is beneficial for a car s engine, this has the additional effect of creating a need for the product. It is easy to identify that the commercial was intended to be entertaining. It is whimsical and was different than other commercials for gas. Knowing that these are the two main categories many students or critics of the education community pose the question on whether to keep assessments separate or to combine them into one big field. Jones II MCCC 04 15 July 30, 2015 Drivers of Stability in Mali The West African country of Mali has from time to time been mired in un ending overlapping humanitarian, political, economic, and security crises. Notably, the situation in the country became worse when the government was destabilized and later overthrown in a 2012 military coup. Following the coup, insurgents were quick to capitalize on the resulting power vacuum and seize a greater portion of this country s vast sparsely populated north. As of 2013, a number of loosely connected extremist groups including Al Qaeda were in full control of most towns in the northern region. It is estimated that the region that has from time to time fallen under their control is as large as Texas. In as much as the number of insurgent combatants (mainly Islamic) seems to be relatively small, they are now notorious, and have become more entrenched. The seriousness of their entrenchment is boosted by the fact that they have gone as far as ousting a separatist group of ethnic Tuaregs that had initially been very influential, even in recruiting members among locals. Losing something of value can cause pain but when self trust is lost, there is not much to do when you don t have self trust. When self trust is present, believing and achieving soon follow leading to success in life. When America wrote the Declaration of Independence, one of the most important, and well known lines was Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness . Something that is interesting to look into is why Thomas Jefferson put pursuit of happiness instead of just happiness . The pursuit of happiness is about the journey, the good and the bad. If happiness is always present, there is no pursuit then happiness is suddenly taken away, and the person doesn t know how to pursuit it again due to no pursuit at the beginning of happiness. The actual pursuit to happiness is more important than the happiness itself due to the fact that happiness can be taken away at anytime but the pursuit to get back will always be there. The job he was applying for was a stockbroker and it was him and 20 other smart people fighting for it. Nobody thought he could do it, not even his own wife who left him shortly after. • 48. 250 Word Post Analysis When it comes to creating blogs for a law firm, the length of the post is going to depend upon the firm s focus and goals. A 250 word post is not going to achieve the same results as a 1,200 word post, and that must be taken into account when picking what word count is right for your company. 250 word posts I have found that posts of this level are great for simple safety tips, which make them great for personal injury lawyers. For my example post, I found a recent bicycle accident in Salt Lake City and offered bike safety tips. 600 word posts For a post of this length, I can go into a little more detail. I will generally try to include more links to laws or other authoritative sources. For example, in the post about child custody in Massachusetts, I provided links to the Massachusetts legislature, allowing readers to see the exact wording of the laws. 900 word post I think is the perfect level for deeper topics, particularly those that may be not well understood by the average client. I chose to focus on brain injuries because I felt these are injuries those seeking the services of a personal injury attorney may have experienced. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One month could be a personal injury post. The next month might be divorce advice. A third month might focus on DUI advice. After several months, they would have in depth posts on several areas of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Reflection To Return To The Classroom Culture As A... Reaction to Ginott Quote The Ginott quote reminds me of my years as a preschool teacher. I had times that I was more inspiring than torturous, and times that were more miserable than joyous. Unfortunately, this same sediment echoed down the halls of the school. I was a requested teacher and I knew that I loved to work with kids, but I was having a hard time being trapped in a room with them for eight hours. I lacked knowledge and resources but fully understood the impact I had on the children in the class. I knew I had to leave and learn, before I did damage. The variation in the way that I viewed my position is one of the reasons I returned to school to continue my education. That was almost four years ago. Since then, I have completed my bachelors and am working on my masters. I plan to return to the classroom culture as an elementary school counselor. During my hiatus, there was a lot of time to reflect on things that I did well and things that I need to improve on. There are three areas within the Ginott quote that relate to areas of improvement: 1) personal approach, 2) daily mood, 3) escalate crisis. Personal Approach. According to Ginott, It is my personal approach that creates the climate (Hardin, 2013, p. 11 12). I was known for having extravagant themed lessons. Costumes were created, pictures where taken, and a lot of hard work went into planning and implementing these events. When I was excited to come to school the kids were excited to be ...
