Engineering Jobs and A Outline of Each Essay
Civil Engineering:
Civil engineering is primarily concerned mainly with the planning and construction of different
facilities (bridges, highways, buildings, dams, railroads, etc.)
Civil engineering in Islam was mainly concerned with irrigation and water supply. Four different
types of irrigation were developed by Muslims, which are Basin irrigation, perennial irrigation,
Terrace irrigation and Wadi irrigation
Computer Engineering: Computer engineering deals with the computers (digital gear). It covers the
design, usage and theory of computer hardware (application) and software (information Processing
techniques).

Architectural Engineering:
Structural: concerned with building structure and disturbing the load transferred in the building.
Mechanical systems: control the temperature and climate inside the building, taking into
consideration the air quality and humidity (HVAC)
Electrical and lighting systems: to design the circuits and paths of utilities and power inside the
building envelop
Construction and management engineering: the responsibility of the engineer that the quality, cost
and schedule meets the project plans
Muslims had a great influence on architecture and have many inventions in this field, for example:
Arabesque: which is an application of repeated geometrical forms founding in decorating walls.
Also the Minaret, which is a distinctive architectural feature of the Islamic civilization, more
specifically, the mosque.
One of the most famous Muslim architects is Mimar Sinan, whom is Turkish. He is the head
ottoman architect and also was a civil engineer. He was accountable for constructing more then 300

Comparing Love In The Canterbury Tales
Love in The Knight s Tale, Wife of Bath s Tale, and Franklin s Tale
The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer around 1386, is a
collection of tales told by pilgrims on a religious pilgrimage. Three of these
tales; The Knight s Tale , The Wife of Bath s Tale , and The Franklin s Tale ,
involve different kinds of love and different love relationships. Some of the
loves are based on nobility, some are forced and some are based on mutual
respect for each partner. My idea of love is one that combines aspects from each
of the tales told in The Canterbury Tales.
In The Knights Tale , the love between the two knights and Emily is
intensely powerful. The love that Palomon and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Palomon and Arcite are in jail
Palomon says, The Beauty of the lady whom I see wandering yonder in the garden
is the cause of all my cries and woes. This is not something That I would want
to base my ideal love on. These two knights are willing to risk their lives for
the love of this woman, whom they have never even met. For all they know she
could be the most annoying person on earth. In that case they would be risking
their lives, only to spend the rest of it with a beautiful and extremely
annoying woman.
In The Wife of Bath s Tale A knightis forced to marry a wretched old
woman to avoid death. The knight and the old woman do not get along well, and
when the old woman suggests that she can make things better, the knight responds
saying, Corrected? . . . It will never be corrected! You are so loathsome and
old. A love relationship such as this could never last because their is no
attraction, physical or mental. A major factor in love is physical attraction
between the two partners, here their is no attraction. Two people cannot love
each other if they can t stand to be around each other. The knight can hardly bare
to look at his wife, let alone sleep with her.
Despite the fact that the knight despises her, the old woman persists on
getting the knight to love her, which

Code Of Ethics In Managed Care
Managed Care Organizations (MCO) developed to maintain the financial responsibility and the
provision of care by instituiting the gatekeeper mentaliy (Feldman et al. 1998). As primary care
physicians maintained the role of the gatekeeper, issuing referrals to patients as deemed necessary,
physicians also became uncomfortable in the given roles. In the beginning of medicine, physicians
were valued as the most moral member of society. However, as healthcare became more business
oriented with MCOs providing incentives for minimizing care, MCOs lost the morality necessary
for trust in healthcare.
Initially, physicians as a whole were not excited about the reform exhibited by the managed care
systems (Bereson 1991). In the article, Physician

A Vibrant Banking System
A vibrant banking system is essential for any economy striving to achieve growth and stability
in a competitive global business environment. The best indicator for the health of the banking
industry in a country is its level of Non performing assets (NPAs). NPAs are one of the major
concerns for banks in India. It reflects the performance of banks. Reduced NPAs generally give
the impression that banks have strengthened their credit appraisal processes over the years and
growth in NPAs involves the necessity of provisions, which bring down the over all profitability
of banks. The Indian banking sector is facing a serious problem of NPA. The magnitude of NPA is
comparatively higher in public sectors banks. To improve the efficiency and... Show more content

Rocky Statue Of Philadelphia Analysis
The Face of Philadelphia; an Analysis on the Effects of the Rocky Statue The Rocky statue in
Philadelphia, PA serves as an iconic symbol that has shaped the image of Philadelphia, while
demonstrating that location influences the way people see art. The statue stands tall next to the
Rocky Stairs, and plants into the minds of the people ideas of inspiration, self determination, and
pride in accomplishment, which all help raise Philadelphiaup as a proud and progressing city. It s
presence at the art museum also demonstrates the effects of location on a piece of art. Location

The part about the Rocky statue that makes it so universal is that it represents the tale of an
underdog. This underdog tale not only relates to Philadelphians, but it inspires people
everywhere. An interview was conducted where boxers were asked to talk about Rocky s
impact on Philadelphia. Justin Sargus, a boxer in Philadelphia says The impact it has had on
fighters, and what they think they can do, and endure, and the way they go about training and
style is certainly still felt today. A world championship is a possibility, based from being a
relative unknown . (Dinero 1) The statue gives Philadelphia something monumental to stand on
and something to represent all the hardship the city has been through. The Rocky character also
embraces the culture, and lifestyle of a true Philadelphian. He eats at the same restaurants, runs
through the same streets, and speaks like a Philadelphia. This gives the statue a personal
connection to the people of the city, one they can claim as their own. The places and stores seen
in the movie are very popular tourist attractions in the city. Zeke Ferguson from Di Brunos Bros,
a popular site from the movie says It is an iconic story of an underdog which I think all
Philadelphians have been at, at one time or another, and it shows you can succeed in the face of
overwhelming odds (Dinero 1) The city is filled with an enormous amount of diversity and just
as the city and its people have been through hard times, so has Rocky. The statue also appeals to
people worldwide not only because of its iconic underdog story, but because of its ability to
appeal on a personal level. Whenever failure is upon someone, Rocky inspires them to come back
strong because if you work hard you can achieve your goals. Justin Sargus says The thing about the

It Really Is That Simple By Melinda Branson
It really is that simple. Melinda Branson s catch phrase signaled the end of her cooking

boss called it six months ago, had grown into an expected Saturday feature. It added much needed
extra hours to her paycheck. With another medical bill for her twin sister Christina, and Dad still
recovering from Mom s unexpected death, she needed all the help she could get to keep the family

Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard
battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy
consumption for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief
research concern. In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy
efficiency in wireless sensornetworks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been
considered as one of the effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication
related energy consuming roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and
the other role is to relay packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations.
This is why the energy minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN.
WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO)
technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space
time block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power
long distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply
MIMO technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a
single antenna. Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a
cooperative MIMO technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4].

Hegemonic Masculinity Essay
When someone thinks of a man the first thing that comes to mind is a large man, the epitome of
strength and toughness, but where did they get that idea. More often than not people get their ideas
of masculinity from the shows and movies they watch throughout their lives. In the article
Hegemonic masculinity in media contents, by Peter J. Kareithi, he focuses much more specifically
on how the media has presented it to the public, and less of the why, and how it started. The paper
by Connell and Messerschmidt, Hegemonic Masculinity: Rethinking the Concept, does a much
better job at explaining the history of hegemonic masculinityand how it came to be. Though
together the two articles give the reader a complete sense of what the focus is, and... Show more

In their research, they found that many researchers in the field of men s studies presumed a
complete separation from women that they did not even take them into consideration and only
analyzing masculinity by looking only at men and relations among men (Connell 837). Many of the
arguments on the idea of masculinity are over who in the world actually represents hegemonic
masculinity. The two competing concepts that they present are whether societies use a fixed type of
masculinity or that a society reverts to whatever type of man is dominant at a particular time and
place. They agree that the ambiguity of what it means to be masculine, is important because it
allows researchers to identify the mechanisms of hegemony more easily. They point to how
regions develop models of masculine conduct which are spread by the media and celebrated by
the state (838). Connell and Messerschmidt use the example of the USSR s celebration of the
Stakhanovite industrial worker, named for the coal miner Aleksandr Stakhanov who in 1935
hewed a world record 102 tons of coal in a single day, triggering a scramble by other workers to
beat the record. The reality of it is that the claimed feats of Stakhanov did not acknowledge the
contributions of his coworkers in his record setting day of work. In the final section of their paper
Connell and Messerschmidt lay out how they believe that the idea of

baby to an extremely elderly person. In health care, it involves diagnosing illnesses, prescribing
medicine and treatment, and preventing future illnesses. They can also help cure physical and
psychological problems, such as a torn cartilage (physical) or post natal depression

There are over 45 percent of the 1.6 million veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that
are seeking compensation for injuries they claim are related to their military service. That is over
double the 21 percent of veterans that filed service connected claims after the Gulf War in the
early 1990s. Additionally, these new veterans are claiming on average eight to nine issues and the
most recent ones received by the VA are claiming 11 to 14 ailments. In comparison, the Vietnam
veterans are averaging compensation for fewer than four ailments and those from World War II and
Korea average only two.

The causes of these elevated levels of suffering in military veterans and their families lives are

Yes, it is a sitcom so the main focus is to bring laughter to the viewers. However, if it want to
stick with the audiences and be remember long after the show is over, it need to touch the
viewers heart, and that s is exactly what the show did. There are so many moments to choose
from, ranging from Phoebe saying goodbye to her triplets, Ross and Rachel s breakup, to the
final goodbye between the gang. The most touching and memorable scene for me would be
when Monica and Chandler found out they cannot have a baby. It all started when Rachel was
giving birth to her child that the two decided to try to have one of their own. After failing for
what seem to be the hundredth time, Chandler and Monica decided to go get themselves tested
and see what s wrong. What follow was the emotional moment where Chandler got a phone call
from the clinic telling him the bad new. This touching and sad moment will leave viewers
breathless as they feel compassion for the couple. This was even more upsetting to know that
around the same time that this was film, Courtney Cox, who played Monica, was faced with a

The Corruption Of Gold Mining In Suriname
The history of Suriname s independence and their lucrative mountains of gold is complicated and
treacherous. Indigenous Tribes originally inhabited Suriname, and by the late 1650 s the Governor
of Barbados, Lord Willoughby settled a colony called Willoughbyland. Lord Willoughby began
construction on multiple plantations and in slaved thousands of Africans and indigenous people.
The colony was invaded in 1667 by the Dutch who established the official name of the colony as

Suriname gained independence in 1975 with prospects of gold triggering the second gold rush. The

global environmental inequality in Suriname. In 2000, Ouboter et al. (2012) stated in his case
study that the Geological and Mining Survey of Suriname (GMD) estimated that the number of
small scale gold miners in Suriname was between 25,000 and 35,000. (873) Gold mining in
Suriname is the most significant source of employment and main export of product in the country,
because of this, the indigenous people mine to provide for their families. These small scale

The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Children s Behavior
The effect of violent video games on children s behavior has been the major concern of numerous
researchers over the last several decades. Indeed, a great number of researches conducted by
psychologists show that regular exposure to violent video games has both long term and short
term negative effects on a player s behavior. Aggressiveness and lack of empathy are considered to
be two main outcomes of constant playing games with violent content. However, it should be noted
that the content is not the only criteria that should be taken into account when measuring games
effects on behavior. Indeed, much attention should be paid to the difficulty of games and time
spent on playing. Thus, a brief overview of studies concerning the violent video games effect and
those disproving this idea along with the analysis of other factors affecting children s behavior
such as moral standards and family environment will show that violent video games are not
principal factors that affect children s behavior and cause child violence.
When analyzing different studies proving the idea that all violent video games lead to
aggressiveness and violence, it is important to mention that all 3 main types of studies have both
advantages and disadvantages. Anderson and Swing distinguished the following types of studies:
(a) experimental; (b) cross sectional correlational; and (c) longitudinal ones (Paludi 47). Thus,
experimental studies are focused on manipulating exposure to violence via media and

The Absolute And Constitutional Governments During The...
During the seventeenth century Europe witnessed two prominent forms of government, an
absolutist and a limited/constitutional. Both governments were constructed through several key
figures that were in control of the countries, some more stable than others. Although these key
figures tried to dominate the governmentunder absolute authority their control was still limited.
Absolutists monarchies were trying to be established all over the country, unfortunately many of
them failed due to various factors. Throughout the seventeenth century Europe rulers have tried to
maintain an absolutist monarchy however society still found some holes in their power, which
limited the ruler s control. The absolute and constitutional governments were two very different
governments in practice, but also maintained similar characteristics in both systems of government.
The differences between both governments emerged during the sixteenth and seventeenth century
when Europeans began to experiment with absolutism and constitution monarchies. An absolute
monarchycan be defined as the monarch, king or queen, holds the supreme or absolute powers
and rule is based on divine right. In other words, the king received their power from God, so he
only had to answer to God not parliament. The king is entitled to make all economic and other state
related decisions for the country, while the prime minister exercises effective political power.
Absolutism began with the decline of the church and

The Misunderstood Religion of Islam
Islam is perhaps the supreme misunderstood religion today, among non Muslims and among some
of the Muslims themselves. There are both historical and modern influences that might clarify this
misconception of Islam within certain rings in the West. One should start with the fact that Islam,
represented historically as the Ottoman Empireman Empire, occupied parts of Europe, which had
certainly not occurred to European civilization before. Then there were the Crusades, which was
Christendom attempting to, I believe, execute and impose its religion upon the Middle East. I
deliberately use the phrase Middle East, as the Crusades did not just impact the Muslim population;
the Jews were also in a similar position and were victims of this process. Furthermore, according to
specific groups, the Orthodox Christians were victims as well of those circumstances. Therefore, it
was fundamentally Western Christendom that was the driving factor of the Crusades, which
extended throughout centuries and ended in defeat for the powerful Christian leaders. This had an
impact on the psyche of the Western people and influenced their opinion of civilization. Then, of
course, you had colonialism, which affected both sides and created a situation in which the
antagonism became even more serious. After the colonial period, a key factor that arose concerned
the economic benefits represented by oil, which is considered a gold commodity that is most
essential to manufacturing and industrial

The Effect Of Rocket Angle On Projectile Range Of A Tennis...
Year 11 Physics
Extended Experimental Investigation (EEI)
The Physics of Projectile Motion

The Effect of Launch Angle on Projectile Range of a Tennis Ball
Aim:
The aim of this experiment is to determine the effect of the launching angle on the distance of the
projectile, to identify, apply and use the laws of projectile motion to predict the distance at which a
projectile will travel when projected at a known angle and velocity and to investigate the effect
varying angles of trajectory have on displacement.
Hypothesis:
If the launching angle is wider than 0В° but less than 45В° then the farther the projectile range
will be because the higher the shot is, the longer it takes to hit the ground. The projectile s
trajectory that is propelled at an angle wider than 0В° goes up first then has to come down rather
than being shot at an angle less than 0В° which will cause the projectile s trajectory to go straight
and fall instantly.
Abstract:
A projectile was fired from atop an elevation and an angle. The initial velocity for each firing was
the same. The distance travelled in the horizontal direction was measured for multiple firings of
each trial, and the values were averaged. When the initial velocity for each of these averages was
calculated, it was proved that the initial velocity was relatively constant. These measurements had
many possible sources of error including air resistance

Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications
This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with
making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case
study were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded
by former CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron
was one in several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell,
2009). Enron had reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had
been concealed through a complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to
market. Mark to market accounting is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current
market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron to record future profits on books as present and
ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron
Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had to lay off 4,000 employees and a
thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in Enron stock. Later former
chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for
giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was sentenced to 24
years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the scandal.
Kenneth Lay died before he could began serving his 20 30 year sentence in prison (Ferrell, 2009).

Anthropogenic Noise Pollution And Its Effects On Cetaceans
Anthropogenic Noise Pollution and Its Effects on Cetaceans
Cetaceans use sound extensively in both communication, hunting, and navigation. However as
humanity continues to make use of the ocean we are constantly filling it with equipment that
produces high amounts of sound. These devices are starting to have an impact on cetaceans
worldwide, from mass strandings often linked to military exercises to area denials caused by busy
commercial shipping lanes and seismic surveys. If consideration is not taken towards this problem
now it could develop into something that could have degrading effects on cetacean populations in
the future. Sound waves are nothing more than an energy transfer through a medium be it through
a liquid, solid, or a gas. Sound pressure or intensity is measured on logarithmic scale in decibels
dB which increases on an order of magnitude. For instance a quiet conversation would be around
30 dB and whereas the human pain threshold would be just over 100 dB. While the pitch or
frequency of the sound is measured in hertz or Hz, the higher the hertz the higher the pitch of the
sound and vice versa (Hildebrand, 2004).
Anthropologic noise pollution can come from many different sources, some of the more common
ones are commercial shipping, acoustic deterrent devices, military sonar, and explosives (used in
some seismic surveys for oil and gas as well as military exercises). The main focus will be on
military sonar use, seismic surveys, and acoustic deterrent

Cruelty And Cruelty In The Country Of Iraq
I am writing to inform you of the cruelty going on in the country of Iraq. I have been traveling
the country as a photographer and I have managed to earn the trust of Iraqi soldiers who are
performing acts of torture on prisoners. According to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, Iraq
has one of the world s oldest cultural histories, boasts a rich heritage and has a long reflected
cultural diversity. Although Iraqis generally are a religious and conservative people, there are
strong secular tendencies in the country. (See Fig. 1)

Torture has always been apart of Iraq s along with many other countries cultures. Even though Iraq
has been a part of the Iraqi people s history, it still goes against the rights of men and women to be
imprisoned with no probable cause and then tortured until the government or another individual can
get information out of the prisoners whether it is true or not.
In Kenny Paul D. article The Meaning of torture , he states that torture is the action or practice
of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something.
There are many different types of torture from rape, to both physical and mental torture.
According to Mosul Torture Exposed, prisoners in Iraq were hung from the ceiling with their
arms tied behind their backs. The men and women who are imprisoned, are whipped, shocked,
raped, and the Iraqis who were performing the torture would add weights to the men s backs that
they hung from the ceiling. (See Fig. 2) The Iraqi soldiers also threatened the men s families by
saying that they would kill or rape the women if they did not confess to the crimes the men had
committed, whether the accusations were true or not. Fig. 2. Man who has been hung from the

Comparing John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men is a book written by John Steinbeck in the year 1992, transformed into a film. It
seems as if the book itself is coming alive while following along with the movie. This movie acts
as a front row seat for you to witness and embark on the journey with George and Lennie. These
are two men that differ greatly from each other, but both find a common interest in the other.
George a well rounded young man, not quick to talk but is always ready to work. While his
clueless companion Lennie Small followed close behind. This 1920 s film with John Malkovich

Understanding Psychology And The Ways

Module 5 Assignment 1
In regards to cognitive psychology and the ways in which we define ourselves in terms of
individuals, is one of the biggest areas of interest. The area defines the process used in order to
acquire, receive, retain and store the information in which is received. During childhood our
memory grows, and through adulthood throughout until our middle age, where shortly after we
begin to decline in productivity. Initially, when a person grows and changes, their brain begins to
change and their cognitive functions worsen. One example being the way in which we
appropriately word and express things, begins to decline in fluency and accuracy. (American
psychological association, 2006). Studies have shown that the semantic and procedural memory
declines the least, while that flashbulb memory declines the most. The amount of large
declination varies due to middle age sensitivity and the lack of self efficiency. The memory
initially declines based not on the lack of storage, but merely how they retain and store that
information which is being received. Naturally, this happens because the cortex shrinks, leaving a
serious lack of blood flow to the brain, and triggers that loss, which is naturally all apart of the
aging process. Some natural signs of normal age related memory loss can include the occasional
forgetfulness of where we placed something

Bob Fosse s 1972 Cabaret
Prior to World War I, German cinema was a thriving industry being seen across Europe and North
America. Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called
expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In
Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi
era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and
sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German
Expressionismera.
During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic
movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was
booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such
as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the
world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new
philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the
Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which
can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis
gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood.

Teloomerase Research Paper
Telomerase (TERT) is an enzyme responsible for maintaining the ends of telomeres and reversing
the process of telomere shortening in humans by adding a TTAGGG polynucleotide to the 3 end of
the telomere. The addition of the TTAGGG compensates for inefficiencies in replication of the ends
of DNA in eukaryotes. Telomerase is limited to highly proliferative cells such as germ cells and
lymphocytes where the telomerase is necessary to maintain telomere length, and the telomeres
themselves are not sufficiently long to facilitate such rapid cell division without incurring damage
to the DNA. Most somatic cells exhibit no telomerase activity and in cells where telomerase is
present telomerase activity is strictly regulated. In cells that exhibit

Framers of the Constitution
The Framers of the Constitution and the Republicanism The constitution is the supreme law of the
land. Even though it is the supreme law of the land, it is not well defined; it isn t specific on
multiple areas. Because of that, the constitution has been misjudged and miss interpreted in the
past. However, there are certain parts were the Constitution is specific. It is partially specific on
elements of the Constitution that embodies the republican principle of limited government, the
three institutions in the government that embodies the commitment of representation: the House of
Representatives, the senate, and the presidency, amendments of the constitution that expand the

This amendment expanded democratic representation widely because it gave recently free slaves
the right to vote for the people that were going to represent them. There is a catch on it though,
only males were allowed to vote according to this amendment, it didn t give woman the right to
vote.[15] This wouldn t change until later on in August 18, 1920 with the woman suffrage
amendment being passed, the nineteenth amendment gave woman the right to vote[16] . This
amendment finally gave woman the right to vote in elections. It was very important because it
gave a sense of equality between males and females; however, there is still a great imbalanced
scale between males and females. It didn t really balance things out, but it expanded democratic
representation greatly. Through the whole Constitution there are multiple passages that express
the republican principal of popular sovereignty, but not any other like the preamble. The
preamble starts by saying We the people [17] which clearly states that we the people create the
government. We the people give power to the government by letting the government govern us.
That is the meaning of popular sovereignty.[18] In the end, the Constitution is and always will be
the supreme law of the land. It is not perfect, in fact it is far from perfect, but it at least gives
order to our lives and give us a government we can live in. a government in which the republican
principle of limited government is

College Is The Time Of Your Life
Haakon Lovestad Dr. Van Bergen Rylander 24 Nov. 2104 Every once in a while, one comes
across the saying college is the time of your life , true enough, every person who has had the
opportunity to attend college, regularly reminisces about the time they had. In all fairness, the
time in college is indeed memorable. The reason as to why even Hollywood regularly releases
movies with a theme and setting of college. What these movies inevitably end up doing is
glamorizing the all things to do with college other than actually studying. In fact, in most
instances, these movies glamorize parties, casual sex, drinking binges and use of drugs. To the
high school teenager with raving hormones, this is a place to look forward to, which is if it ends
up motivating them to the quests of higher grades. Nevertheless, parents and other stakeholders
more so in the department of health are regularly wondering what exactly the place of sex in
college is. (Bruce and Stewart) It is worth it to analyze the whole issue of sex with an open
mind. The reason for this is that external influences cloud the perception of most regarding the
topic of sex in relation to college. Society encourages modesty in matters relating to sex,
ironically, the media is awash with sex if not explicitly, it is implicit. However, the common
denominator to all this is the ever willingness of college girls to engage in sexual activity in a
rather casual and care free manner. Therefore, it is within prudence to assume

My eyes flutter open lazily, as my slumber is interrupted by bright light, streaming through the
window. Slowly I swing my legs over the edge of my bed, toes searching for the soft carpet.
Standing on weary legs, I peer through the window to find a crisp white layer covering the grass.
The sun is gleaming brightly onto the newly fallen snow, causing a nearly blinding shimmer.
Heading toward the stairs my nose detects the sweet scent of a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls. My
sluggish steps become lively as I bound down the stairs into the aromatic kitchen. Studying the

The Worldview And Its Impact On My Worldview
Over the years my worldview has evolved from as a by product of cultural influence, to one
steeped in my belief of God. However, until I got married 4 years ago, I had never actively
worked on developing my Christian theistic worldview. Brown, Phillips and Stonestreet (2008)
described a persons worldview as the framework that guides our beliefs and viewpoints (p. 21).
With this in mind, I have established 3 main tenants of my worldview, Godis, the universe was and
morality will be. These are the foundations for the way I live, move and express my being in this
world.
My worldview is informed by way of epistemology. Epistemology suggest the source of all

He is holy, unchanging, all powerful, all knowing, and present everywhere.
As stated by Groothuis (2011) But Christianity, on the contrary, depicted God as a rational,
responsive, dependable, and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus
having a rational, lawful, stable structure, awaiting human comprehension ( p. 102). All that is
in the universe, except for God Himself, is God s creation. Therefore, my Christian worldview
begins with the existence of a God who is the personal and creator of everything we survey.
Knowing that God is the cause for creation, brings perspective to my life. It establishes the place
of a great being that took time, out of time and space to create the world in which I exist. A world
meticulously designed to work as one connected string. How can a world be fine tuned with
irreducible complexity, without a designer?
My theistic worldview defines God as the uncaused creator, concerned with all of creation. His
concerns include bringing man back into relationship with Himself by way of His Son Jesus
Christ. Christ is part of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is
the anointed son of God, purposed to restore humanity from its deviation of God character and
nature. Jesus was born of a virgin birth; His Christendom was from the womb and His anointing
allowed him to demonstrate power over nature. Through Him, the ultimate result of pain and
suffering, which is

The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion Essay
The issue of abortion is a controversial one; there are arguments on both sides of the debate. In
1973 the national case of Roe v. Wade, sparked political decisions that created a national right to
abortion. Further, Roe v. Wade declared that unborn children are not `persons nor are they entitled
to the same constitutional protection as `born children (Baird, Rosenbaum, 2001). However, Roe
v. Wade did not end the debate, nor, did it stop both sides for continuing the fight for their
individual beliefs. On the one hand, pro choice s believe that woman are entitled to have abortions.
Stating that an unborn child is under the rights of the pregnant women. On the other hand, pro
lifers believe that a woman should not have the right to obtain an abortion, stating that an unborn
child is a human deserving the same constitutional rights as a child that has been born. The
political goal most frequently mentioned by pro lifers has been a Human Life Amendment (HLA)
to thus, reverse Roe v. Wade. The HLA would declare unborn children to be persons deserving
equal protection under the Constitution. From an ethical standpoint, one can take either side, for
not only these reasons but also many more that we will further explore. I personally think that
abortion is a decision that can only be made by the person in question, and not between that person
and the government or an HLA. We well first look at the overall argument of the pro choice side.
After which, we will delve into the

Rationalization is when the reason for a certain behavior is for one other than the real reason.
Identification is when a characteristic from someone that we see as a role model or behavior
comes to play in our own lives. Amir shows rationalization in two scene. The first one was when
he saw Hassan get raped in an alleyway after a kite fighting competition was over. Hassan was
walking home and was caught in an alleyway by a bully named Assef. Amir decided that he
wanted the kite, his reasoning for not butting in was that he could get hurt and then would not
get the kite, which is basically a trophy. The second scene that Amir showed rationalization was
when Amir planted his birthday money and his new watch under Hassan s bed. Amir went to
Baba and Baba asked if Hassan had stolen his gifts. Hassan knew that if he said no that Baba
would trust him and Amir would get in trouble. Hassan was a loyal friend and didn t allow him
to get in trouble so he said yes and Baba was quick to forgive him of theft. Amir showed
rationalization because his reasoning for hiding his gifts was so that it could be the last time
Hassan would sacrifice for him, in the end, Amir felt worse because he was upset that Baba
would forgive the worst sin there is, and didn t understand why Baba couldn t forgive him for
not being the son he always wanted. The last Psychological defense mechanism Amir shows in
the book is identification. He shows this when He shows his loyalty to Sohrab. Amir grasped his
loyalty from Hassan while they were friends, he realized that he showed share the same respect
by paying him back, even though Hassan and his wife were killed before he was ever able to he
showed his loyalty to Hassan s son by going to save him from an orphanage in Afghanistan to bring
him back to the United States and adopt him for his own. The Author,

Imagery In Cold Blood
This excerpt from the book In Cold Blood written by Truman Capote describes a dull, lifeless
town. Holcomb stands on the high wheat plains of Kansas and considered, out there. Capote s
view of Holcomb, Kansas describes a little, insignificant town with little drama. Capote conveys
his views of Holcomb by utilizing imagery and tone. The village of Holcomb stands on the high
wheat plains of western Kansas, a lonesome area that other Kansans call out there. Some seventy
miles miles east of the Colorado border, the countryside, with its hard blue skies and desert clear
air. These exercise imagery by describing a picture for you to see in your mind. Sight, smell, touch,
hearing and taste are all described through imagery. Imagery creates... Show more content on

The author says there is little to nothing to see and is considered out there. The first four
paragraphs sets the the tone as monotone. Capote describes the town as dull to help the reader
understand just how plain Holcomb is. Capote also says that little drama stops in Holcomb to
show just how rare drama in the area is. The first four paragraphs set the tone as dull, making you
wonder why he would write about such a dull place. Then in paragraph five the tone dramatically
changes. The tone shifts from describing the town as an old deteriorating town to something more
lively. When Capote starts speaking of the school, the tone changes and he views the town in
another light. Through Capote s eyes the town is no longer something to dread but something
extraordinary. He calls the people prosperous and explains the school as a good looking
establishment. When he talks about the school the tone is set that the people of Holcomb care
about their future. The tone shifts from a dry boring town to a great place with plentiful amounts
of money and a prosperous place to learn. In the last and final paragraph the tone shifts one last
time to something mysterious. The tone makes it clear that something bad will likely happen by
saying things such as, Until one morning in mid November of

Essay on Blue Ridge Spain
Introduction
Blue Ridge Spain is a joint venture established between an American fast food chain and a Spanish
agricultural firm, Terralumen. Terralumen contributed the most to Delta s success in foreign
markets. After 15 years of a successful joint venture, Costas was shocked to find out that new
owner, Delta, wanted to end the partnership despite of the joint venture s profitability.
Issues and Analysis
Cultural Issues
Cultural differences, as related to doing business, come into play here. Significant cross cultural
conflicts between parents of different nationalities paved the way for the dissolution of the joint
venture between Delta and Terralumen. In a Board of Director s meeting, the American Spanish
joint venture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also must consider if it is possible to continue without Delta, given that the Blue Ridge name
belongs to Delta. Each of the main players also has choices to make.
Player Perspectives
For Francisco Alvarez, he has always maintained a personal stake in the relationship. He helped
cultivate the joint venture from its inception and must now choose the best direction for his
company. Terralumen s main industry is agriculture, and this venture was a means of
experimenting by taking the business in a new direction. Increased, rapid restaurant expansion
would move away from the key business and is perceived as too risky for a high uncertainty
avoidance culture like Spain s. Terralumen is also family owned, so it does not have to deal with
the pressures of short term gains that a public company like Delta foods must. Alvarez needs to try
to fix the relationship, but also plan a separation strategy.
For Mikael Södergran, he was hired to apply Delta s strategy and expand the business. Delta s
philosophy has always been against joint ventures, and he was working on dissolving this venture
by any means necessary. Going forward, he must decide the best approach to ending this venture.
He must also be aware of how his actions impact future joint ventures in Spain or elsewhere.
Actions such as not paying their share on a loan in order to default the loan will not be viewed
kindly by other companies. He not only lacks

Essay on Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
A symbol is an act, person, thing, or spectacle that stands for something else, by association a
usually broader idea in addition to its own literal meaning (Cassill Bausch, 1728). John Steinbeck s
The Chrysanthemums may seem as a story describing a simple day with the Allen couple. It begins
with Elisa Allen working in her garden and her husband, Henry Allen, negotiating with two suited
business men that want to purchase steers. They seem to engage in conversations and go about
their day as they normally would do. By the time the story ends, they are on their way to dinner
and a movie. At first glance, this story may seem as nothing special, just a day in the life of fairly ...

This description of the Salina Valley is closely related to her character. Elisa s isolation and
constraint is represented by the description of the valley. Elisa feels cut off from the rest of the
world; she has no independence, and lives in a male dominated society. The valley being described
as a, closed pot can also be considered a metaphor for Elisa s existence, she knows how the rest of
her life is going to be, and she is not happy knowing that she is so limited in choices.
Elisa lives in a masculine world with countless qualities hidden under her man s hat, clodhopper
shoes, and a big corduroy apron she wears to garden. One of the reasons that Elisa may feel more
restricted is because of the fact that she does not have any children to distract her, therefore
spends the majority of the time contemplating about her life. This gives a slight indication that
they might not be able to have children. During the period of time that this story was written, it
was very unlikely for a married woman, especially at the age of thirty five, not to have children.
The fact that Elisa is childless makes it even more evident that she seems to need more fulfillments
in her life. The importance of Elisa s gardening abilities is that she wishes to take care of someone,
and since she has no one other that Henry, which does not seem much of help for her, she transfers
these maternal instincts onto her flowers. As one can see already, the Chrysanthemums that Elisa

Musical Analysis Of Songs Without Words
Musical Analysis of Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 by Felix Mendelssohn Felix
Mendelssohn composed Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 during the Romantic Period. It is
known as a hunting song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be
argued because the A theme that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two
times. It comes back at measures 50 and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C
section. The B section starts in measure 29 and the C section starts at measure 67. Measures 1 5
are a short introduction. The A section begins at the fourth beat of measure 5 and is in A major.
The A section ends in a half cadence, which is an E major chord. The B section, which starts on the
fourth beat of measure 29, is in C sharp natural minor. This is the relative minor of E major,
which was the final chord of the first A section. At measure 49, there is a modulation back to A
major which leads into a second A section beginning at measure 50. However, this A section is
different mainly because the melody appears in the left hand and the section ends in an imperfect
authentic cadence instead of a half cadence. This cadence is at the downbeat of measure 67, and
there is no modulation to E major this time. The C section begins at measure 67 and is in A major.
This section acts more as a transitional section that leads into a new statement of the main theme at
measure 83. The final A section restates the main theme one last

Evaluation of Clinical Decision Support System for Heart...
Heart Failure (HF) is prevalent disorder that affected 6.6 million people in the United Sates
during 2010 (Patarroyo Aponte Colvin Adams, 2014). In HF the heart lacks the ability to push

Comparing Love In The Canterbury Tales Love in The Knight s Tale, Wife of Bath s Tale, and Franklin s Tale The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer around 1386, is a collection of tales told by pilgrims on a religious pilgrimage. Three of these tales; The Knight s Tale , The Wife of Bath s Tale , and The Franklin s Tale , involve different kinds of love and different love relationships. Some of the loves are based on nobility, some are forced and some are based on mutual respect for each partner. My idea of love is one that combines aspects from each of the tales told in The Canterbury Tales. In The Knights Tale , the love between the two knights and Emily is intensely powerful. Code Of Ethics In Managed Care Managed Care Organizations (MCO) developed to maintain the financial responsibility and the provision of care by instituiting the gatekeeper mentaliy (Feldman et al. 1998). As primary care physicians maintained the role of the gatekeeper, issuing referrals to patients as deemed necessary, physicians also became uncomfortable in the given roles. In the beginning of medicine, physicians were valued as the most moral member of society. However, as healthcare became more business oriented with MCOs providing incentives for minimizing care, MCOs lost the morality necessary for trust in healthcare. Initially, physicians as a whole were not excited about the reform exhibited by the managed care systems (Bereson 1991). In the article, Physician ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The best indicator for the health of the banking industry in a country is its level of Non performing assets (NPAs). NPAs are one of the major concerns for banks in India. It reflects the performance of banks. Reduced NPAs generally give the impression that banks have strengthened their credit appraisal processes over the years and growth in NPAs involves the necessity of provisions, which bring down the over all profitability of banks. Rocky Statue Of Philadelphia Analysis The Face of Philadelphia; an Analysis on the Effects of the Rocky Statue The Rocky statue in Philadelphia, PA serves as an iconic symbol that has shaped the image of Philadelphia, while demonstrating that location influences the way people see art. The statue stands tall next to the Rocky Stairs, and plants into the minds of the people ideas of inspiration, self determination, and pride in accomplishment, which all help raise Philadelphiaup as a proud and progressing city. The part about the Rocky statue that makes it so universal is that it represents the tale of an underdog. This underdog tale not only relates to Philadelphians, but it inspires people everywhere. An interview was conducted where boxers were asked to talk about Rocky s impact on Philadelphia. Justin Sargus, a boxer in Philadelphia says The impact it has had on fighters, and what they think they can do, and endure, and the way they go about training and style is certainly still felt today. A world championship is a possibility, based from being a relative unknown . (Dinero 1) The statue gives Philadelphia something monumental to stand on and something to represent all the hardship the city has been through. The Rocky character also embraces the culture, and lifestyle of a true Philadelphian. He eats at the same restaurants, runs through the same streets, and speaks like a Philadelphia. This gives the statue a personal connection to the people of the city, one they can claim as their own. The places and stores seen in the movie are very popular tourist attractions in the city. Zeke Ferguson from Di Brunos Bros, a popular site from the movie says It is an iconic story of an underdog which I think all Philadelphians have been at, at one time or another, and it shows you can succeed in the face of overwhelming odds (Dinero 1) The city is filled with an enormous amount of diversity and just as the city and its people have been through hard times, so has Rocky. The statue also appeals to people worldwide not only because of its iconic underdog story, but because of its ability to appeal on a personal level. Melinda Branson s catch phrase signaled the end of her cooking demonstration and a roar of applause shot through the produce section. The makeshift stage presented her as some kind of superstar. Her silly little cooking idea, as her boss called it six months ago, had grown into an expected Saturday feature. It added much needed extra hours to her paycheck. Her sister may have good taste in shoes, but next time she would insist on comfort and style when Christina tried talking her into a wardrobe change for the sake of image. Millie removed the navy apron, folded it over her arm and then untangled the headset from the mass of cord clipped to her pant loop. That was quite the turn out. The decidedly male voice came from behind. Millie whipped her head to find the source and caught her thumb in the still tangled mess of wire. Her headset fell to the ground, cracking the back open and spilling batteries from the case. From the apples of her cheeks to the roots of her ponytail, she felt her face warm as she faced the man with the camera. Chasing errant batteries would only add to the awkwardness. She swooped to retrieve the broken headset and let out a small grumble before looking up. The man with the forget me not eyes said, I m sorry, I assumed you heard me clod up the steps. • 9. Wireless Sensor Networks Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy consumption for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief research concern. In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy efficiency in wireless sensornetworks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been considered as one of the effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication related energy consuming roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and the other role is to relay packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations. This is why the energy minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN. WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO) technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space time block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power long distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply MIMO technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a single antenna. Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a cooperative MIMO technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4]. The single hop energy ... • 10. Hegemonic Masculinity Essay When someone thinks of a man the first thing that comes to mind is a large man, the epitome of strength and toughness, but where did they get that idea. More often than not people get their ideas of masculinity from the shows and movies they watch throughout their lives. In the article Hegemonic masculinity in media contents, by Peter J. Kareithi, he focuses much more specifically on how the media has presented it to the public, and less of the why, and how it started. The paper by Connell and Messerschmidt, Hegemonic Masculinity: Rethinking the Concept, does a much better job at explaining the history of hegemonic masculinityand how it came to be. Though together the two articles give the reader a complete sense of what the focus is, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In their research, they found that many researchers in the field of men s studies presumed a complete separation from women that they did not even take them into consideration and only analyzing masculinity by looking only at men and relations among men (Connell 837). Many of the arguments on the idea of masculinity are over who in the world actually represents hegemonic masculinity. The two competing concepts that they present are whether societies use a fixed type of masculinity or that a society reverts to whatever type of man is dominant at a particular time and place. They agree that the ambiguity of what it means to be masculine, is important because it allows researchers to identify the mechanisms of hegemony more easily. They point to how regions develop models of masculine conduct which are spread by the media and celebrated by the state (838). Connell and Messerschmidt use the example of the USSR s celebration of the Stakhanovite industrial worker, named for the coal miner Aleksandr Stakhanov who in 1935 hewed a world record 102 tons of coal in a single day, triggering a scramble by other workers to beat the record. The reality of it is that the claimed feats of Stakhanov did not acknowledge the contributions of his coworkers in his record setting day of work. It all started when Rachel was giving birth to her child that the two decided to try to have one of their own. • 18. The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Children s Behavior The effect of violent video games on children s behavior has been the major concern of numerous researchers over the last several decades. Indeed, a great number of researches conducted by psychologists show that regular exposure to violent video games has both long term and short term negative effects on a player s behavior. Aggressiveness and lack of empathy are considered to be two main outcomes of constant playing games with violent content. However, it should be noted that the content is not the only criteria that should be taken into account when measuring games effects on behavior. Indeed, much attention should be paid to the difficulty of games and time spent on playing. Thus, a brief overview of studies concerning the violent video games effect and those disproving this idea along with the analysis of other factors affecting children s behavior such as moral standards and family environment will show that violent video games are not principal factors that affect children s behavior and cause child violence. When analyzing different studies proving the idea that all violent video games lead to aggressiveness and violence, it is important to mention that all 3 main types of studies have both advantages and disadvantages. Anderson and Swing distinguished the following types of studies: (a) experimental; (b) cross sectional correlational; and (c) longitudinal ones (Paludi 47). Thus, experimental studies are focused on manipulating exposure to violence via media and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Absolute And Constitutional Governments During The... During the seventeenth century Europe witnessed two prominent forms of government, an absolutist and a limited/constitutional. Both governments were constructed through several key figures that were in control of the countries, some more stable than others. Although these key figures tried to dominate the governmentunder absolute authority their control was still limited. Absolutists monarchies were trying to be established all over the country, unfortunately many of them failed due to various factors. Throughout the seventeenth century Europe rulers have tried to maintain an absolutist monarchy however society still found some holes in their power, which limited the ruler s control. The absolute and constitutional governments were two very different governments in practice, but also maintained similar characteristics in both systems of government. The differences between both governments emerged during the sixteenth and seventeenth century when Europeans began to experiment with absolutism and constitution monarchies. An absolute monarchycan be defined as the monarch, king or queen, holds the supreme or absolute powers and rule is based on divine right. In other words, the king received their power from God, so he only had to answer to God not parliament. The king is entitled to make all economic and other state related decisions for the country, while the prime minister exercises effective political power. • 20. The Misunderstood Religion of Islam Islam is perhaps the supreme misunderstood religion today, among non Muslims and among some of the Muslims themselves. There are both historical and modern influences that might clarify this misconception of Islam within certain rings in the West. One should start with the fact that Islam, represented historically as the Ottoman Empireman Empire, occupied parts of Europe, which had certainly not occurred to European civilization before. Then there were the Crusades, which was Christendom attempting to, I believe, execute and impose its religion upon the Middle East. I deliberately use the phrase Middle East, as the Crusades did not just impact the Muslim population; the Jews were also in a similar position and were victims of this process. Furthermore, according to specific groups, the Orthodox Christians were victims as well of those circumstances. Therefore, it was fundamentally Western Christendom that was the driving factor of the Crusades, which extended throughout centuries and ended in defeat for the powerful Christian leaders. This had an impact on the psyche of the Western people and influenced their opinion of civilization. Then, of course, you had colonialism, which affected both sides and created a situation in which the antagonism became even more serious. After the colonial period, a key factor that arose concerned the economic benefits represented by oil, which is considered a gold commodity that is most essential to manufacturing and industrial ... Year 11 Physics Extended Experimental Investigation (EEI) The Physics of Projectile Motion Submitted by: Anna Sunio Submitted to: Mr Mark Lee Final due date: 6th June 2014 The Effect of Launch Angle on Projectile Range of a Tennis Ball Aim: The aim of this experiment is to determine the effect of the launching angle on the distance of the projectile, to identify, apply and use the laws of projectile motion to predict the distance at which a projectile will travel when projected at a known angle and velocity and to investigate the effect varying angles of trajectory have on displacement. Hypothesis: If the launching angle is wider than 0В° but less than 45В° then the farther the projectile range will be because the higher the shot is, the longer it takes to hit the ground. The projectile s trajectory that is propelled at an angle wider than 0В° goes up first then has to come down rather than being shot at an angle less than 0В° which will cause the projectile s trajectory to go straight and fall instantly. Abstract: A projectile was fired from atop an elevation and an angle. The initial velocity for each firing was the same. The distance travelled in the horizontal direction was measured for multiple firings of each trial, and the values were averaged. When the initial velocity for each of these averages was calculated, it was proved that the initial velocity was relatively constant. These measurements had many possible sources of error including air resistance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case study were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded by former CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron was one in several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell, 2009). Enron had reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had been concealed through a complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to market. Mark to market accounting is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron to record future profits on books as present and ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had to lay off 4,000 employees and a thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in Enron stock. Later former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was sentenced to 24 years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the scandal. • 24. Anthropogenic Noise Pollution And Its Effects On Cetaceans Anthropogenic Noise Pollution and Its Effects on Cetaceans Cetaceans use sound extensively in both communication, hunting, and navigation. However as humanity continues to make use of the ocean we are constantly filling it with equipment that produces high amounts of sound. These devices are starting to have an impact on cetaceans worldwide, from mass strandings often linked to military exercises to area denials caused by busy commercial shipping lanes and seismic surveys. If consideration is not taken towards this problem now it could develop into something that could have degrading effects on cetacean populations in the future. Sound waves are nothing more than an energy transfer through a medium be it through a liquid, solid, or a gas. Sound pressure or intensity is measured on logarithmic scale in decibels dB which increases on an order of magnitude. For instance a quiet conversation would be around 30 dB and whereas the human pain threshold would be just over 100 dB. While the pitch or frequency of the sound is measured in hertz or Hz, the higher the hertz the higher the pitch of the sound and vice versa (Hildebrand, 2004). Anthropologic noise pollution can come from many different sources, some of the more common ones are commercial shipping, acoustic deterrent devices, military sonar, and explosives (used in some seismic surveys for oil and gas as well as military exercises). The main focus will be on military sonar use, seismic surveys, and acoustic deterrent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

November 1, 2017 (https:/ /commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Iraq_in_the_world_(W3).svg) Torture has always been apart of Iraq s along with many other countries cultures. Even though Iraq has been a part of the Iraqi people s history, it still goes against the rights of men and women to be imprisoned with no probable cause and then tortured until the government or another individual can get information out of the prisoners whether it is true or not. In Kenny Paul D. article The Meaning of torture , he states that torture is the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something. There are many different types of torture from rape, to both physical and mental torture. According to Mosul Torture Exposed, prisoners in Iraq were hung from the ceiling with their arms tied behind their backs. The men and women who are imprisoned, are whipped, shocked, raped, and the Iraqis who were performing the torture would add weights to the men s backs that they hung from the ceiling. Understanding Psychology And The Ways Tracy Griffin Adulthood and Aging | PSY307 A01 05/24/2016 Faculty: Arthur Swisher Due date: 05/23/2016 Module 5 Assignment 1 In regards to cognitive psychology and the ways in which we define ourselves in terms of individuals, is one of the biggest areas of interest. The area defines the process used in order to acquire, receive, retain and store the information in which is received. During childhood our memory grows, and through adulthood throughout until our middle age, where shortly after we begin to decline in productivity. Initially, when a person grows and changes, their brain begins to change and their cognitive functions worsen. One example being the way in which we appropriately word and express things, begins to decline in fluency and accuracy. (American psychological association, 2006). Studies have shown that the semantic and procedural memory declines the least, while that flashbulb memory declines the most. The amount of large declination varies due to middle age sensitivity and the lack of self efficiency. The memory initially declines based not on the lack of storage, but merely how they retain and store that information which is being received. Naturally, this happens because the cortex shrinks, leaving a serious lack of blood flow to the brain, and triggers that loss, which is naturally all apart of the aging process. Some natural signs of normal age related memory loss can include the occasional forgetfulness of where we placed something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German Expressionismera. During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood. Telomerase is limited to highly proliferative cells such as germ cells and lymphocytes where the telomerase is necessary to maintain telomere length, and the telomeres themselves are not sufficiently long to facilitate such rapid cell division without incurring damage to the DNA. • 43. The Worldview And Its Impact On My Worldview Over the years my worldview has evolved from as a by product of cultural influence, to one steeped in my belief of God. However, until I got married 4 years ago, I had never actively worked on developing my Christian theistic worldview. Brown, Phillips and Stonestreet (2008) described a persons worldview as the framework that guides our beliefs and viewpoints (p. 21). With this in mind, I have established 3 main tenants of my worldview, Godis, the universe was and morality will be. These are the foundations for the way I live, move and express my being in this world. My worldview is informed by way of epistemology. Epistemology suggest the source of all knowledge is God. Knowledge can be acquired through reading and studying the bible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is holy, unchanging, all powerful, all knowing, and present everywhere. As stated by Groothuis (2011) But Christianity, on the contrary, depicted God as a rational, responsive, dependable, and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus having a rational, lawful, stable structure, awaiting human comprehension ( p. 102). All that is in the universe, except for God Himself, is God s creation. Therefore, my Christian worldview begins with the existence of a God who is the personal and creator of everything we survey. Knowing that God is the cause for creation, brings perspective to my life. It establishes the place of a great being that took time, out of time and space to create the world in which I exist. A world meticulously designed to work as one connected string. How can a world be fine tuned with irreducible complexity, without a designer? My theistic worldview defines God as the uncaused creator, concerned with all of creation. His concerns include bringing man back into relationship with Himself by way of His Son Jesus Christ. Christ is part of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is the anointed son of God, purposed to restore humanity from its deviation of God character and nature. Jesus was born of a virgin birth; His Christendom was from the womb and His anointing allowed him to demonstrate power over nature. • 44. The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion Essay The issue of abortion is a controversial one; there are arguments on both sides of the debate. In 1973 the national case of Roe v. Wade, sparked political decisions that created a national right to abortion. Further, Roe v. Wade declared that unborn children are not `persons nor are they entitled to the same constitutional protection as `born children (Baird, Rosenbaum, 2001). However, Roe v. Wade did not end the debate, nor, did it stop both sides for continuing the fight for their individual beliefs. On the one hand, pro choice s believe that woman are entitled to have abortions. Stating that an unborn child is under the rights of the pregnant women. On the other hand, pro lifers believe that a woman should not have the right to obtain an abortion, stating that an unborn child is a human deserving the same constitutional rights as a child that has been born. The political goal most frequently mentioned by pro lifers has been a Human Life Amendment (HLA) to thus, reverse Roe v. Wade. The HLA would declare unborn children to be persons deserving equal protection under the Constitution. From an ethical standpoint, one can take either side, for not only these reasons but also many more that we will further explore. I personally think that abortion is a decision that can only be made by the person in question, and not between that person and the government or an HLA. We well first look at the overall argument of the pro choice side. After which, we will delve into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rationalization is when the reason for a certain behavior is for one other than the real reason. Identification is when a characteristic from someone that we see as a role model or behavior comes to play in our own lives. Amir shows rationalization in two scene. The first one was when he saw Hassan get raped in an alleyway after a kite fighting competition was over. Hassan was walking home and was caught in an alleyway by a bully named Assef. Amir decided that he wanted the kite, his reasoning for not butting in was that he could get hurt and then would not get the kite, which is basically a trophy. The second scene that Amir showed rationalization was when Amir planted his birthday money and his new watch under Hassan s bed. Amir went to Baba and Baba asked if Hassan had stolen his gifts. Hassan knew that if he said no that Baba would trust him and Amir would get in trouble. Hassan was a loyal friend and didn t allow him to get in trouble so he said yes and Baba was quick to forgive him of theft. Amir showed rationalization because his reasoning for hiding his gifts was so that it could be the last time Hassan would sacrifice for him, in the end, Amir felt worse because he was upset that Baba would forgive the worst sin there is, and didn t understand why Baba couldn t forgive him for not being the son he always wanted. The last Psychological defense mechanism Amir shows in the book is identification. He shows this when He shows his loyalty to Sohrab. Amir grasped his loyalty from Hassan while they were friends, he realized that he showed share the same respect by paying him back, even though Hassan and his wife were killed before he was ever able to he showed his loyalty to Hassan s son by going to save him from an orphanage in Afghanistan to bring him back to the United States and adopt him for his own. Capote describes the town as dull to help the reader understand just how plain Holcomb is. Capote also says that little drama stops in Holcomb to show just how rare drama in the area is. The first four paragraphs set the tone as dull, making you wonder why he would write about such a dull place. Then in paragraph five the tone dramatically changes. The tone shifts from describing the town as an old deteriorating town to something more lively. When Capote starts speaking of the school, the tone changes and he views the town in another light. Through Capote s eyes the town is no longer something to dread but something extraordinary. He calls the people prosperous and explains the school as a good looking establishment. When he talks about the school the tone is set that the people of Holcomb care about their future. The tone shifts from a dry boring town to a great place with plentiful amounts of money and a prosperous place to learn. In the last and final paragraph the tone shifts one last time to something mysterious. He helped cultivate the joint venture from its inception and must now choose the best direction for his company. Terralumen s main industry is agriculture, and this venture was a means of experimenting by taking the business in a new direction. Increased, rapid restaurant expansion would move away from the key business and is perceived as too risky for a high uncertainty avoidance culture like Spain s. Terralumen is also family owned, so it does not have to deal with the pressures of short term gains that a public company like Delta foods must. • 48. Essay on Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck A symbol is an act, person, thing, or spectacle that stands for something else, by association a usually broader idea in addition to its own literal meaning (Cassill Bausch, 1728). John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums may seem as a story describing a simple day with the Allen couple. It begins with Elisa Allen working in her garden and her husband, Henry Allen, negotiating with two suited business men that want to purchase steers. They seem to engage in conversations and go about their day as they normally would do. By the time the story ends, they are on their way to dinner and a movie. This description of the Salina Valley is closely related to her character. Elisa s isolation and constraint is represented by the description of the valley. Elisa feels cut off from the rest of the world; she has no independence, and lives in a male dominated society. The valley being described as a, closed pot can also be considered a metaphor for Elisa s existence, she knows how the rest of her life is going to be, and she is not happy knowing that she is so limited in choices. Elisa lives in a masculine world with countless qualities hidden under her man s hat, clodhopper shoes, and a big corduroy apron she wears to garden. One of the reasons that Elisa may feel more restricted is because of the fact that she does not have any children to distract her, therefore spends the majority of the time contemplating about her life. This gives a slight indication that they might not be able to have children. During the period of time that this story was written, it was very unlikely for a married woman, especially at the age of thirty five, not to have children. The fact that Elisa is childless makes it even more evident that she seems to need more fulfillments in her life. The importance of Elisa s gardening abilities is that she wishes to take care of someone, and since she has no one other that Henry, which does not seem much of help for her, she transfers these maternal instincts onto her flowers. As one can see already, the Chrysanthemums that Elisa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Musical Analysis Of Songs Without Words Musical Analysis of Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 by Felix Mendelssohn Felix Mendelssohn composed Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 during the Romantic Period. It is known as a hunting song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be argued because the A theme that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two times. It comes back at measures 50 and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C section. The B section starts in measure 29 and the C section starts at measure 67. Measures 1 5 are a short introduction. The A section begins at the fourth beat of measure 5 and is in A major. The A section ends in a half cadence, which is an E major chord. The B section, which starts on the fourth beat of measure 29, is in C sharp natural minor. This is the relative minor of E major, which was the final chord of the first A section. At measure 49, there is a modulation back to A major which leads into a second A section beginning at measure 50. However, this A section is different mainly because the melody appears in the left hand and the section ends in an imperfect authentic cadence instead of a half cadence. This cadence is at the downbeat of measure 67, and there is no modulation to E major this time. The C section begins at measure 67 and is in A major. This section acts more as a transitional section that leads into a new statement of the main theme at measure 83. The final A section restates the main theme one last ...
