The Religious Life on Planet Earth
Religious Life of Planet Earth
The people on earth follow many religions and some of the prominent ones are Christianity, Islam,
Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Shinto, Jainism and Sikhism. All these religions are based on a strong
belief system and a set of cultural practices that are aimed to provide meaning to life.
Criteria to determine a religious life
One of the biggest criterion for determining a religious life is the presence of a strong faith in a
particular God. Though each religion follows a different God, there is nevertheless a common belief in
the existence and power of God.
This strong faith in God induces people to lead a moral life. They abide by certain rules that are
established to help them lead a peaceful life with their fellow beings. Most of the religions are
believed to have started as a way to help people to live a peaceful and harmonious life.
The third criteria for a religious life is to explore the meaning and origin of life. How was earth
formed and where did people come from? The people of earth strive to answer these questions and
understand their role on earth through religion.
Examples of behaviors and beliefs
Numerous instances can be used as examples to show that the people of earth are religious, based on
the above criteria. Firstly, there is a strong belief in the existence of God. Idol worship is followed in
many religions today with Hinduism leading the way. In fact, Hinduism is considered to be the oldest
active religion in the

Chicago Style Citation Quick Guide The Chicago Manual of Style presents two basic documentation
systems: (1) notes and bibliography and (2) author date. Choosing between the two often depends on
subject matter and the nature of sources cited, as each system is favored by different groups of
scholars. The notes and bibliography style is preferred by many in the humanities, including those in
literature, history, and the arts. This style presents bibliographic information in notes and, often, a
bibliography. It accommodates a variety of sources, including esoteric ones less appropriate to the
author date system. The author date system has long been used by those in the physical, natural, and
social sciences. In this system, sources are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Associative Learning
Learning: learning is a mandatory skill that is needed for every single person in the world. No one
simply just knows something right off the bat, everything must be learned. They re many types of
learning techniques; each person has their own learning style. Accordingly, there are three main
learning types; audible ( hearing), visual, and kinesthetic ( hands on ). Not every skill is learned in the
classroom, some skills are just acquired through life s experiences. There are many theories
concerning the matter of learning; this essay will discuss two very popular theories, Observational
learning and associative learning. The observational learning and associative learning theories are the
result of genius; they shed a light on the previously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore It is very prominent in society. Associative learning in general encompasses many forms of
learning including observational. Because of the vast amount of possible examples of associative
learning, this essay will present the experiment of Ivan Pavlov and John B. Watson. While this
experiment is specifically an example of classical conditioning, like the observational theory,
associative learning encompesses many other theories such as classical conditioning. Here is the
experiment of Ivan pavlov and his dogs. Pavlov, a physiologist ( not a physcologist ) was conducting
an experiment involving dogs and their digestive system. Because he was interested in the digestive
system, he implanted tubes within his s dogs mouths to collect saliva. After the dogs ate food he
would measure the amount of saliva secreted. He discovered that the dogs did not only salivated to the
taste of food but to the sight of food,an empty bowl, and even to the sound of footsteps of the lab
assistants bringing them food. Pavlov was interested by this; so he took it farther. Because he knew
that dogs salivate to food,In his next experiment he rang a bell right before giving the dogs food. He
repeated this for a while. Consequently the dogs learned to associate the ringing of a bell with food
and as a result the dogs would salivate. In other words the dogs learned to associate the ringing of a
bell to food and as a result they would salivate. Pavlov concluded that after exposure to a
unconditioned stimulus plus a neutral stimulus you could produced a unconditioned reaction to a

Fed Ex vs UPS Case Analysis Essay examples
Executive Summery
The parcel service industry is made up of four main competitors. These competitors are UPS, FedEx,
Airborne Express, and the U.S. Postal Service. Since 2000, American consumers have spent more than
$50 billion to ship parcels, packages, and overnight letters. New parcel distribution patterns developed
due to the way U.S. manufacturing companies are operating. The Internet has expanded the reach of
direct marketing, particularly with retail transactions requiring home delivery. Globalization has also
created the need for parcel carriers to expand worldwide.

Manufactures also depended more on the customer, information technology, and the increase in the
use of technology in all parts of the economy. Companies such as FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express, and
USPS shipped parcels at a faster rate and were more reliable than other rail, motor, and water carriers.
Trends and opportunities of the parcel service industry include globalization, e commerce, and supply
chain management. Internet logistics was FedEx and UPS s fastest growing business. The internet
enabled customers to link directly to retailers and their manufacturers. In 2001, parcel carriers served
almost all of the online market. They were able to provide information on packages to customers
through tracking systems on the web. This allowed customers to plan ahead and decrease delays in
deliveries. It also allowed for faster transactions and lower communication costs. Parcel companies
created partnerships with large Internet retailers. These partnerships allowed parcel service companies
to expand its overall delivery volume. Parcel companies improved tracking by implementing several
technological innovations. These included laser scanners and bar codes, state of the art software
programs, satellite and cell phone communication equipment, electronic information interchanges, and
the Internet.
Globalization is another major trend. Since the emergence of the

Thesis Statement For William The Conqueror
Outline
Introduction to My Topic William the Conqueror
William the Conqueror or known as William the Bastard to his enemies, played a huge role in
developing England into the country that it is today. (1)
It is important to know the history behind how countries became so powerful.
Thesis statement Without the help of William the Conqueror, England would not be as powerful a
country as it is today. (1)
II. Early life A. Childhood 1. When William was a little boy, he was constantly in danger since he was
on the line to become the next king. His guards had to smuggle him to other castles at night to escape
people trying to kill him. They had to stay the night in poor people s homes to ensure that William
would be safe. Throughout his childhood, three of William s guards were murdered along with his
tutor. Somehow, his mother always ensured that little William would be safe. The battles that William
fought as a child only made him stronger for the battles he would fight later on in his life. (4) 2. When
William was only eight years old he became the Duke of Normandy. (1) 3. William was called
William the Bastard because he was illegitimate and illiterate, but he was still the Duke of Normandy.
Since he was his father s only son, he was the heir. (1) B. Teen years 1. William was knighted when he
was fifteen years old. (2) 2. His fellow councilors plotted against him and tried to overthrow him and

Judging People Research Paper
We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others. Look at the
people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might see their hair color, skin tone, and
their clothing. Though while you are doing that you could be making silent observations. Why do we
do that? People say away from the people who look dangerous and people will like the people who are
attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s something that is a part of our lives. Is it
good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes from an evolutionary adaptation, however
in modern times with a structured society it is not acceptable to do so.

Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide range of evidence
is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging
by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan.
2017.) We are quick to make judgements on people s lives completely based on how we see them at
that particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you come into work late or
not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you could be having an off day or
something is currently happening in your life. Humans are so focused on being right on our
observations that when we told something other than what we think we refuse to believe it. Raymond
Torrs states that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the natural world, if all we really
care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind. This attitude constrains our
ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just because we call something for what it is
or what we think it is, that there isn t a composite of underlying and interactive factors responsible for
our observations. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington
Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We shouldn t make simple judgements on
people by external appearance because it is superficial and often unfair. After all, you don t know what
circumstances the person might be facing or who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from
a less fortunate family than you and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear.
However, that does not mean the person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have the
lack of discernment which leads to large

The article is divided into four parts. First part focuses on the traditional perspective on international
marketing strategies focusing on the dichotomy between standardization and adaptation. The second
part examines key assumptions underlying the philosophy of global standardization. The third part
focuses on the constraints to implementation of global standardization. The last part of the article
concludes on the bases of its review that a more general approach is suitable which incorporates
various degrees of standardization or adaptation strategies. It is an important article as it concludes
that an effective global marketing strategy does not guarantee the marketing of standardized products
and global brands worldwide. It might work for some companies but cannot work for all. Peng M.W.,

extracurricular activities as young kindergarten up to your adulthood and even beyond that. These
activities come in different forms like sports, clubs, fraternities and sororities, youth groups and other
social events. This paper is mainly about how extracurricular activities affect the students. In the
research paper of Nikki Wilson, Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Students, it says there that
students who participate in extracurricular activities benefit from the opportunities that it has
presented them. One of these benefits is having better grades. My friends Julie and Alex answered in

poem interests the reader mostly because of the time during which it was written: 1987. This was

weapons to destroy one another. During this time, people show more interest in knowing what is going

Summary Of A Different Drum By Simon Tong
Simon Tong s short story, The Beat of a Different Drum explores the journey of a young boy
immigrating from Hong Kong to Australia with a lack of knowledge of the Australian culture and
tradition. Through the ambiguous understanding of his unwelcoming classmates, he is victimized to
the extent that he feels both violated and humiliated, emphasised by the fact that he is unable to
express his feelings in English. These feelings result in him becoming increasingly insecure and
irritated as he has become confused and alienated. The rich vocabulary and literary techniques enabled
Simon s short story to become more relatable to the audience by exploring the common adolescent
crisis of Being Different .
During Simon s first playground experience, he was bombarded with the unexpected questions of
students who seemed to want to befriend him. Beginning with innocent questions, Are you from

Essay on Robert Ressler Coined the Term Serial Killer
We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more of
your children dead tomorrow. (Ted Bundy). Serial killers are not always those people that look like
monsters or behave in strangeous ways. Sometimes they are the successful people, the ones that have
a family and a job. The term Serial Killer was first coined by Robert Ressler, former director of the
FBI s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. Serial killers are often defined as people that kill two
or more people over a period of more than 30 days with cooling off periods between each kill. Many
historical criminologists suggest that serial killing has been a component of society since the

The triad includes fire setting, animal cruelty, and enuresis (bed wetting). A highly debate issue around
serial killers is the reason behind their actions. Although many theories exist about the reason why
serial killers act the way they do, the most common theory is that they are searching for some type of
psychological satisfaction. A very common theory behind the reason of the actions of serial killers is
the social control theory. This theory states that serial killers behave the way they do due to their
inability to cope and adapt to society. Another well known theory is the neutralization theory. This
theory states that murderers sometimes move from an invisible baseline and commit illegal actions
while sometimes moving back and acting in a conventional way. The last theory is the labeling theory.
This theory, created by Erving Goffman, states that people act the way they do due to the labels that
society has created for them. Therefore, if a kid is labeled as a troublemaker at a very young age, it is
more likely that he will continue with this behavior through adulthood. From Ted Bundy to BTK to
the Zodiac Killer , serial killers have been around the United States for a long time, but none is better
than Richard Chase, or better known as the Vampire of Sacramento , to investigate the reasons behind
serial killers. Born on May 23, 1950, Chase was raised in a very strict house and was constantly

The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay
The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia
The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with
Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out
about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the
rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking
their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a
reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the

I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die

No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember
that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies
her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not

Two Point Threshold Lab Report
In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the
skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger,
forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation
mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure,
which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of
skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. There are four types
of mechanoreceptors: Merkel complexes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not
vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the
participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter
accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused
the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third
forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as
it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in
fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this
experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a
dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the
timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that
the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points
throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber.
With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus
onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to
standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. It may also be
helpful to eliminate the variable of temperature of the caliber to the best of one s ability. As a
continuation of this study, it may strike the experimenter as intriguing to add a variable such as

Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece
While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question What
is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal
metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of
growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of
quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something
about everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a genius and
the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years after it was written.

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the
academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most
profoundly, powerfully, and effectively.
He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from
newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to
show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism.
In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc,
and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From
1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of
Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father
Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles.
He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical
works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the
drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning
(1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of
Belloc s light works.

Sacco And Vanzetti And The Red Scare
At the beginning of 1920, America had just witnessed the rise of communism as a result of the first
world war. Many affected nations were in shambles and their citizens looked for refuge within the
United States. This tide of immigration carried with it citizens from around the globe who brought
with them their families, their culture, and their approach to foreign policy. America recognized this
immigration as a threat and labeled many immigrants communists . This event was called the Red
Scare and much controversy arose as a result. One of the most well known controversies of this time
was the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti. Sacco and Vanzetti created a split within the nation of minorities
and immigrants versus the frightened and prejudiced homegrown Americans ( Sacco and Vanzetti:
Were Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti Treated Fairly by the American Justice System? ). As a
result, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti fell victim to an unfair trial based upon the stigma
associated with immigrants at that time, their unpopular political views, and a biased judge.
On April 15, 1920, the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in Braintree, Massachusetts, fell victim to an
armed robbery. According to Louis Stark s article Are Sacco and Vanzetti Really Guilty, ...two men
shot and killed a paymaster and his guard carrying $15,700 (Stark 1). According to witnesses these
men were middle aged Italian immigrants and possessed 32 caliber automatic handguns(1). As eye

John Voss Drills
Brigadier General Frost and Brigadier General Lyon are on a collision course. Frost is training his pro
Southern state militia at Camp Jackson over which the Confederate flag is flying. Lyon believes that
waiting any longer without action would be dangerous for the cause of the Union and the security of
St. Louis. (L174) (L204) (L272)
On Friday, May 10, 1861, Johann Voss drills with the rest of his 2nd Regiment. This is their usual
practice in the morning. They drill for two hours under the watchful eye of their commander, a five
year veteran of the Austrian army, Colonel Henry Boernstein. Learning to drill in such a brief period is
no easy matter for Johann. (L174) (L175) (L272)

up over their shoulders as they were told, but in a ready position with some of them aiming at the
people on the pavement. Johann is both scared and nervous as everything is oppressively silent. He
can hear nothing but the shuffling of feet or, now and then, an officer s command, or a taunt from the
hostile crowd. All four regiments arrive almost simultaneously to surround Camp Jackson. (L174)

Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre Essay
Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre The three short stories that I have chosen to
compare and contrast are: The Signalman by Charles Dickens, An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy and
Napoleon and the Spectre by Charlotte Brontë. All these stories were completed by the mid to late
eighteenth hundreds. The Signalman is set by a railway in Britain, along a lonely stretch of a railway
line in a steep cutting. An Arrest is set in America and for the most part in a forest. Napoleon and the
Spectre is set in Paris. Gothic genre was one of the leading and most used genres of the nineteenth
century and this genre is very prevalent in all three of the stories that I have chosen. The gothic genre

The darkness also gives a sense of mystery to the author s writing. In the glow of an angry sunset, the
stranger re visits the line to see the signalman. The word angry is far from comfortable or romantic.
This line also gives an eerie feel to the fading light and gives a feel that suggests that something is
must and is about to happen that is dark and evil. An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy is a story of a
murderer who was awaiting his trial, escaped by knocking down his jailer with an iron bar, and went
into the forest. It was night and the forest in to which, he entered was renowned for being wild and
unsafe. He goes for many a mile and some how manages to exit the forest and finds an old road and
on the road there stood the figure of a man, motionless in the gloom. The gothic style protrudes from
this line of the novel very clearly and adds to the sense of suspense and fear that is plaguing this scene.
The fugitive is almost face to face with the figure of a man, and feels he cannot turn his back for fear
of being filled with buckshot, so he stood there like a tree. The fugitive is hoping that if he stands still
enough he will become a tree and escape this horror. Until the moon sailed into a patch of unclouded
sky, the haunted man saw the visible embodiment of law lift an arm and point significantly beyond
him. At which he

Hip Hop Culture And Music On Youth
The controversial topic of the evident impact of hip hop culture and music on youth has been brought
up in several interviews, talk shows, debates, articles and even songs. Many perspectives and
opinions, both negative and positive, have been displayed over the many years the culture has lived.
Though having very many positive attributes, hip hop is known to be a prognosis for negativity in
society such as criminal acts, excessive sexual/vulgar activities and emotional expression resulting in
other negative outcomes. The social and psychological problems of this topic has surfaced and been
explored by various people, now on a more serious caliber. Hip Hop s History The music genre and
underground urban movement known as hip hop was originated in the 1970s in South Bronx in the
city of New York. Hip hop music consists of rhythmic and rhyming lyrics, accompanied by a similar
rhythmic beat or melody. Hip hop s name is credited, by many hip hop artists, to Keith Cowboy, a
rapper from the then popular group Sugarhill Gang. The Sugarhill Gang was an independent African
American owned label that released the first ever rap record, Rapper s Delight. Cowboy, along with
his fellow group members, would chant the words hip and hop at concerts with the audience which
began the trend of hip hop. Artist Afrika Bambaataa was once asked in an interview why was the name
hip hop chosen for the genre; he replied This is hip and when you feel that music you gotta hop to it,

How to Spot Websites that Gives Unbiased, Quality Information
According to Daily Changes, 100,000 web pages are registered every single day. Of the 100,000 that
were created today, how many of them can one expect to be accurate and informative? When truly
performing scholarly research, how is one expected to be able to distinguish the good from the bad
and the bad from the ugly? An effective information source will have proper depth, an appropriate
domain name, and citations for sources.
Every website has a purpose. When researching, the primary goal is to gain information and be
informed, so the purpose of the chosen website should align with that. An immediate overlook of the
website will tell users whether or not there s enough information. Just like any good essay, the
material covered should be what the viewer is looking for. Truly, the only way to be sure a website has
proper depth is through thorough exploration. Next, websites can quickly and simply be identified by
their domain name. A quick glance at the website s URL can give a brief indication of the website s
overall theme. Any internet savvy individual would be able to decipher that a website entitled
Facebook.com won t be able to furnish information about subatomic particles. Furthermore, the end of
a website domain can say a lot about it. The ending, .com is for commercial sites and can host pretty
much anything. However, the endings .edu, for education; .gov, for government; and .org, for

How Does Gaines Present Racism In A Lesson Before Dying
Ernest Gaines grew up in Southern Louisiana during the 1930 s. This time period was also known as
The Civil Rights Era, during this horrific time, Gaines became accustomed to the establishment of
racism. In his novel, A Lesson Before Dying, the focus is on Jefferson, an uneducated young man who
is unjustly convicted and sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit. Gaines reveals racism as
an oppressive force in Jefferson s trial, within the African American community, and within the town
of Bayonne, Louisiana. During Jefferson s trial, his lawyer cruelly refers him as a mindless hog. As
the lawyer addresses the twelve white male jurors, he tells them that Jefferson has a modicum of

Grace s journey to find out what happened to her mother when Grace was so little. Because I went

Theme Of Identity In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
One thing all human beings, have in common is the struggle for self identity. Children are raised by
parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own identities. In many cases, parents
are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own children. Such is the case with the characters in
Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The theme of identity is conveyed through the
characters Dominican culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three
central characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major
obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical Dominican
male raised in the states, yet he battles with self definition as he comes to terms with who he is on the
inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be on the outside. According to the Dominican
culture, males are the picture of masculinity, known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict
within Yunior is his love for the Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that
represented nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually
promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about science
fiction genre, anime, fantasy and even writing. Yunior and Oscar share the same interests, which
Yunior would never admit to anyone else, which is clear when Yunior says,

Judicial Reform Act 2005 Essay
Judicial independence is the concept that the judiciary should be separate of the legislative and
executive branches of government. It can be argued that to a moderate extent the Constitutional
Reform Act 2005 and Courts and Crime Act 2013 do enforce and protect judicial independence.
Evidence is provided within sections s.3 and s.7 of CRA 2005 along with the reforms introduced by
the Act. Other acts such as the Act of Settlement 1701 also safeguards independence.
Dame Mary Arden argued that judicial independence involved at least two things being the judge in
any individual case being free to reach the decision which he or she considers to be in accordance with
the law, free from any influence, and it means institutional independence meaning ... Show more

This enforces independence because it allows the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice to handle
complaints about discipline and conduct with the help of solely the Ombudsman meaning they are not
being assisted by anyone else. The JACO also protects independence for this exact reason.
One important amendment made by the Crime and Courts Act 2013 is that the Lord Chancellor s
powers to accept, reject or ask for reconsideration of recommendations for judicial appointments
below the High Court have been transferred to the Lord Chief Justice . This means the LC would then
focus on the more senior judicial positions. As the LCJ is not a political executive this would enforce
independence as the branches of government would continue to stay separate and allow judicial
diversity, which was a goal of the JAC s .
However, the Act of Settlement 1701 guarantees independence as it gives senior judges security of
tenure, which means that their continued office is not dependent of the favour of the executive

The triad includes fire setting, animal cruelty, and enuresis (bed wetting). A highly debate issue around serial killers is the reason behind their actions. Although many theories exist about the reason why serial killers act the way they do, the most common theory is that they are searching for some type of psychological satisfaction. A very common theory behind the reason of the actions of serial killers is the social control theory. This theory states that serial killers behave the way they do due to their inability to cope and adapt to society. Another well known theory is the neutralization theory. This theory states that murderers sometimes move from an invisible baseline and commit illegal actions while sometimes moving back and acting in a conventional way. The last theory is the labeling theory. This theory, created by Erving Goffman, states that people act the way they do due to the labels that society has created for them. Two Point Threshold Lab Report In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger, forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure, which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. There are four types of mechanoreceptors: Merkel complexes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber. With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. He goes for many a mile and some how manages to exit the forest and finds an old road and on the road there stood the figure of a man, motionless in the gloom. The gothic style protrudes from this line of the novel very clearly and adds to the sense of suspense and fear that is plaguing this scene. The fugitive is almost face to face with the figure of a man, and feels he cannot turn his back for fear of being filled with buckshot, so he stood there like a tree. The fugitive is hoping that if he stands still enough he will become a tree and escape this horror. Until the moon sailed into a patch of unclouded sky, the haunted man saw the visible embodiment of law lift an arm and point significantly beyond him. At which he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evidence is provided within sections s.3 and s.7 of CRA 2005 along with the reforms introduced by the Act. Other acts such as the Act of Settlement 1701 also safeguards independence.
