Exoplanets
An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the
many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example,
Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around
5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that
could support life on them.
Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah
put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different
planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content

First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity
method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a
planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of
its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s
normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its
spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted
towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method
detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes
between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If
such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very
probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period.
Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of
discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look
for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit
photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can
find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to
Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the discovery of new planets from far

Adam Smith And John Maynard Keynes Summary
Modern macroeconomic theory can be traced back to the ideas of both Adam Smith, (1723 1790)
and John Maynard Keynes (1883 1946). Smith, a Scottish philosopher and economist, is most
famous for laying out the fundamental principles of economic theory in his book An Inquiry into
the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. In his renowned work, Smith developed the
framework of a classical free market economy where consumable goods can be bought and sold
with no government restriction. Smith drew from the previous but scattered research of others to
found what was to become known as the field of economics. Following in Smith s footsteps, John
Maynard Keynes, a British economist, fundamentally changed the ideas and policies of modern
economics. Keynes transformed economics from an analytical tool into a policy oriented system.
John Maynard Keynes built upon the works of Adam Smithto create an economic system that is still
in place today. Their contribution to the Industrial Revolution was not one of business or product,
but rather one of idea and policy; their product is economics.
Adam Smith was born on June 5, 1723, in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. At the age of 14, Smith attended
the University of Glasgow where the lectures of Francis Hutcheson significantly impacted him.
Three years later, Smith attended Balliol College in Oxford. Smith attended Balliol for seven
years before receiving a bachelor of arts degree. Upon Graduation, Smith returned to Kirkcaldy for
a few years

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Njv
Before we can begin to talk about the translations that came after the KJV, it is imperative that we
discuss the religious climate of the United States. As will be further emphazised in chapter 5 of
this paper, the population of the US is significantly more religious than the one in the UK. This
leads to a greater interest in the Bible. Curiously enough, in spite of the many translations that
have appeared on the market since 1611, the KJV has preserved its place as the most beloved
Bible in the US. These facts will become more important as we talk about the transatlantic
cooperation that led to the creation of another very important, the Revised Version (RV) and
subsequent translations that were developed in the US. The need for a revision in the latter half of
the 19th century came from research pertaining to the Greek version used to produce the KJV
translation. It was stipulated that this new research shed light... Show more content on

Therefore, no single Bible can ever hope to fulfill the scholarly and spiritual needs of this market. A
combination of new sources coupled with new techniques will always ensure that old translations
are updated and that scholars with radically new ideas commit themselves to producing new
translations that are based directly on the source text. The New Revised Standard Version(NRSV)
is not a new translation, it is a direct descendant of the KJV via the RV, followed by the ASV and
the RSV. In the preface of the NRSV, Bruce Metzger discusses recent discoveries vis Г vis the
source text, and the guiding principles that were followed during the translation process (cf. New
Revised Standard Version 9). As far as sources go, even though the Dead Sea Scrolls had been
found in the late 1940s, the translators still used the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, albeit a newer
version. The guiding principles referr to the style of English to be used, gender related issues and

Essay On Liberal Arts And Business Connection
Liberal Arts and Business Connection At first glance liberal arts and business may seem to have
no real connection but the underlying education and skills taught allow them to work well
together. In an article entitled, Dimension of Precariousness, discussed being entrapped in a career
or profession that lacks passion. The article stated that, Entrapment can be considered as the long
lasting condition and weak part of young adult independent professional beyond the first stages of
their careers. Choosing a professing can be challenging but the article discussed how important it is
to strategize because career strategies play a major role in determining successful outcomes, but

They were able to embed liberal arts educational experience into their business curriculum and were
successful in doing so. By getting an education in liberal arts and sciences students are then able
to make a transition to positions of leadership in American for profit and non profit organizations
(Paris, 2017, p. 9). Non profits are very similar to small businesses and having a business
background as well would strength a student s ability to successful fill the position within a
nonprofit. As stated previously, Washington and Lee University is one of the top liberal arts
schools. It is a small, highly selective private institution and it is also the only top tier national
liberal arts college with an Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AAACSB)
accredited school of business. Through this school it shows that liberal arts schools are able to
get accreditation in the business world and that it is not impossible to be diverse as a school. This
school sets the mark of with what it has already done with making the connection with both liberal
arts and business. The school itself, was founded back in 1749 and has a long history of providing
business education at the undergraduate level. As of 1927, the University was accredited but the

Taking a Look at Escherichia Coli
Escherichia coli is a gram negative bacillus that is facultatively anaerobic and which is classified
as part of the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is most commonly found in the lower intestines of
warm blooded organisms although it is capable of surviving outside of the host for an extended
time and may be spread through contact of infected fecal matter as well as personal contact with an
infected host. Several strains of E. coli live in endotherms as part of the normal flora of the gut and
provide their hosts with benefits such as the production of vitamin K2 and the prevention of
establishment of the intestines by pathogenic bacteriathereby forming a mutualistic relationship
with their hosts. There are five strains of E. coli which can cause gastroenteritis in people through
the production of shiga toxins leading to illness and even death. However E. coli has been a large
part of many valuable contributions to science for the last 60 years due to its genetic simplicity as
well as its fast growth and inexpensive culturing requirements.
Escherichia coli is a well studied prokaryote and may be considered a foundation of biotechnology
with the work of Herbert Boyer and Stanley Norman Cohen who used E. coli plasmids in
conjunction with restriction enzymes and produced recombinant DNA.1 Even before the
application of the rDNA technology, the first industrial application of E. coli being the production

Importance Of Trailer Brakes In Florida
If you recently purchased your first large boat, you need to make sure that you meet all the legal
requirements in Florida before you haul your boat down to the water. Florida has specific
regulations in place for any trailers that are used to haul larger loads, such as a big sail boat, in
order to keep you and the motorist around you safe on the road.
Trailer Brakes
The first thing you need to do is make sure that each wheel of your trailer is equipped with its
own set of brakes. You are required by law to have each wheel on your trailer have its own set of
brakes when you pull more than 3,000 pounds of weight.
Most larger boats will exceed this weight capacity; your owner s manual that came with your boat
should include weight information. If your boat is close to or ... Show more content on

You need to be able to see these taillights from at least 1,000 feet away. Be sure to test your
taillights before you set off on the road.
Trailer Hitch Safety Backups
If your trailer is hitched to your vehicle, you need to make sure that you have some safety back
ups in place as well to keep your trailer attached. You can use chains or cables as a back up method
to secure your trailer to your vehicle.
Trailer Permit
If you are towing an oversized boat, you will need to obtain a permit. Luckily, the state of Florida
has made it relatively easy to obtain a permit. You just have to go to the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) website and use their Permit Application System (PAS) to apply for a
permit.
If you are only going to need to haul your boat a few times a year, you can apply for a trip permit
through the PAS. You can get approved online and print out your own permit. If you are going to
be hauling your boat on a regular basis, you are going to need to apply for an Annual permit. You
can still apply online for an Annual permit; however the permit itself is sent through the mail

King Louis XIV, The King Of France
King Louis XIV was the king of France from 1638 to 1715, he reigned longer than any other
European monarch. King Louis XIV was one of the most powerful absolute monarchs in the
history of Europe. He was thought of as the quintessence of what an absolute monarch should be.
Throughout this paper, I will discuss the many important aspects of King Louis s reign and
some of the influential things he did and their effects on society at the time. One way he
achieved his absolute power was through the divine right of kings. The Divine right of kings is
defined as the doctrine that the right of rule derives directly from God, not from the consent of
the people. King Louis XIV used the fact that people couldn t deny any of his privileges because
if they did it would be like they were denying God himself to his advantage. Jean Domat, a
French jurist, wrote in his publication on Social Order and Absolute Monarchy , Since
government is necessary for the public good, and God Himself has established it, it is
consequently also necessary for those who are subject to government, to be submissive and
obedient. For otherwise they would resist God Himself, and government, which should be the
bond of peace and unity that brings about the public good, would become an occasion for
divisions and disturbances that would cause its downfall. Jean Domat wrote mostly of royal
absolutism; King Louis XIV regarded his work very highly. This evidence proves that during this
time, many believed that if

Consequently, operation expense and overhead expense can be alleviated in companies which used
outside experts services.
3.2. Increment competency in companies Handling a variety of HR activities besides the core
activity by employers would not bring useful consequences for organisations. Thus, by outsourcing,
they can concentrate on their core competence which might be included in the application of
various policies in different businesses. For instance, as stated by Belcourt (2006) designing
products is one of the major activities in NIKE. Contracting out non core HR tasks provides free
time for managers to pay more attention and attempt to the value added activities such as leadership
development, innovation and customer services. Hence, diminution of HR administrative duties
like employees pension, benefits and payroll helps mangers to be strategists to improve companies
competitive advantages.
3.3. Professional expertise
Getting benefits from the experience and skills of outside providers can be the other
externalization s advantages. As HR laws and regulations tend to be complicated in some area,
employers may make a decision to externalize some works to specialized companies which are
updated with changing government regulations and have specific expertise needed in special
fields. For example, in a professional training company because of the availability of expert co
workers, staff would have more opportunity to develop their knowledge and proficiency.

differentiate the two. Provide two of YOUR OWN real world examples of the difference between
the two types of continuity. The concept of continuity is difficult and includes several different
meanings that are distinguished mostly by different ways of measuring continuity. There are two
that need to be specifically differentiated: relative and absolute continuity. Relative continuity is the
degree to which individuals hold their rank order in a specific sample from one assessment time
point to another specific time point. Relative continuity is measured by the correlation coefficient

An example of maturation would be acquiring a language, because language acquisition is
something that happens to an individual innately during a certain time in development, it is not
something an individual can do or learn. Environmental learning refers to developmental change
that is brought about mainly by influences in the external environment and that can be described by
mechanisms of learning. An example of environmental learning would be a child who see s their
older sibling get into trouble for having dessert before completing dinner, will first finish their
dinner and then eat their dessert. Constructivism can be defined as the belief that the mind actively
participates in gathering knowledge of the world while interacting with the environment, rather than
passively gaining such knowledge through direct perception. Constructivism states that children act
as active participants in their own development and help establish their own fate by virtue of the
meanings they impose on the world. An example of constructivism would be a person attending
zumba classes at the gym. While attending zumba classes at the gym, the person is actively
participating in and learning how to do zumba, while also interacting with other people in the

Project Planning For A Suitable Development Model Essay
2.1.1 PROJECT PLANNING: Project planning consists of the following important activities:

The Wizard Of Oz Literary Analysis
The Value of Literature:
The epic journey to find the promised land in The Wizard of Oz
Every character in The Wizard of Oz has a reason for going to Emerald city, each have the same
reason but are all in search of something different. Their reasoning for going to the promise land,
Emerald city, is to find the Great Wizard, Oz. Although they are all on a journey for Emerald city
and Oz, what they are in search of is very different as is each character. Through Archetypal Theory
it is shown that each character s reason for setting out on the journey to Emerald city distinguishes
their type of character. Their journey is to find the promised land. Although they are not aware, the
characters slowly gain what they originally set out to acquire throughout their journey, rather than
at their destination. Although the journey seems as easy as following the yellow brick road, there
are many obstacles the characters; the Scarecrow, Tin Woodmanand the Cowardly Lion, must face
throughout this novel. Through stages along their journey, the characters are all thrown into pivotal
positions that they do not realize the importance of. In turn, this results in a drastic development of
their characteristics. In these stages they are put in situations, which allows them to grow and
adapt to what they are seeking on their journey, are what allows them to earn what they were
seeking. Each character is in search for Oz so he may grant them one wish for whatever they

Comparing Mountain Lion and Badger Essay
Comparing Mountain Lion and Badger
These are two poems that were written at the beginning and end of the nineteenth century. The
views on animal hunting and animal cruelty are very different today. Animals such as badgers were
hunted for sport; it was considered to be entertaining to track a badger using dogs and capture and
torture it until death. Animas such as the Mexican mountain lion were hunted in Mexico for a
profit, their fur was a highly sought after fashion item and was sold at very high prices.
Both the poems describe animals that are put through a chase before they are killed. The badger is
portrayed as aggressive and fierce yet he is demure, the first two characteristics are masculine but

Repetition is also used, she will never this brings home the fact that the mountain lion is dead and
all the things that were affected by her will notice the loss and be greatly affected by it. At the
beginning the repetition of, gun shows that the poet s party become un nerved and intimidated.
They are wary, as animals would be in the same situation. The alliteration of f in face , frost ,
fashioned , all add to the perfection of this creature and how amazed the poet is. As the f sound is
quite soft.
In Badger the poet sets the scene very differently to that in Mountain
Lion. Badger has a very busy and fast moving situation the beating rhythm of the poem reflects
this, it also shows the pounding beat of the badgers heart as it is running for its life. There is
tension as the dogs and men enter on the scene.
During the poem the badger varies its reaction as though it is working to a plan, like it is trying
to fool the men, runs along and bites , and, The badger grins. The strong rhyming couplets of
Badger also give an exited, noisy and chaotic atmosphere. There are ten syllables to each line and
fourteen lines in each of the two stanzas. There is also a lack of commas and pauses all the way
through until the end when the badger finally dies, and crackles, groans, and dies. The use of
commas shows the slow death of the animal as all its energy is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Brake
DEFINITION:
A device for slowing or stopping a vehicle or other moving mechanism by the absorption or
transfer of the energy of momentum, usually by means of friction. It basically has a slowing or
stopping effect.
EXPLANATION: They are used to convert the kinetic energy of the motion into heat energy by
means of friction and stopping the vehicle, other forms of energy can be derived from this effect
with slight alterations. For example we have regenerative braking system which is specifically used
to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy and store it and use when required. Brakes are
generally applied on the axle of the shaft or wheels to have most of the grip, where maximum
power is generated. Combinations of brakes are used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the tire on release, and also prevents having the brake shoes dive under the rim as they wear down.

DEFINITION:
The disc brake has a metal disc (rotor) and a pair of flat brake pads instead of a drum and curved
brake shoes. The two flat pads are on the two sides of the disc. The assembly in which the flat

Workplace Disputes And The Workplace Dispute
Human resources management relies upon employees and employers working concurrently.
However in many cases this is hard to create, this is a factor leading to workplace disputes.
Workplace disputes are conflict which occurs within the workplace. They can be a result of
relationships or clashes in opinions on certain tasks. Indicators are used to measure the results of
workplace disputes, these indicate the factors creating disputes. They include: corporate culture
how well a workforce treats one another, benchmarking key variables whether staff are motivated to
reach these benchmarks, staff turnover the amount of separation of employees is occurring,
absenteeism how frequently staff are taking days off, accidents how people react... Show more

These companies have been affected by workplace disputes and have been forced to resolve these
using different strategies.
(Australia Post promotes the strategies of grievance procedures, negotiation, mediation and
conciliation as a means of resolving disputes in their Enterprise Bargaining Agreement) (AUS
Post EBA). This is most likely as a result of the expensive process of courts and tribunals. One
such workplace dispute was seen between Australia Post and many of their licensees within the
Licensed Post Office (LPO) Group of which licensees belonging to Australia Post who are
essentially independent small business owners operate under the entity of Australia Post. The LPO
group had been dissatisfied with the neglection of increase in commission payments over many
years from Australia Post, as a result they decided to approach Australia Post. This is an example of
a remuneration dispute. Due to the overall commitment from licensees, the LPO group believed
that going above alternative dispute resolution was the best means for a solution. Thus seeing the
matter being heard at the senate (which can recommend changes or amend proposed laws) (APH).
The LPO group claimed that licensees payments were not currently fair or reasonable. The senate
committee announced their recommendations on the 3rd of March 2015. (The 18

The Differences Between The Native Taiwanese And...
When I was younger, I didn t quite understand the differences between the Native Taiwanese and
Mainlander in Taiwan, where Mainlander referred to Chinese migrants during or after the period
of the surrender of Imperial Japan, and World War II. It wasn t until much later that I understood
why Taiwanese divided among themselves. I was told that my mother s side of family have
experienced the White Terror, which refers to the entire period from 1947 to 1987, during this
period, many of the family lands was confiscated by the Kuomintang, the Chinese nationalist party.
It was also during the White Terror period that Mandarin Chinese languagewas established as the
official language of Taiwan, and the other native language mainly Taiwanese was considered as
taboo and forbidden. The language differences are especially obvious between Northern and
Southern of Taiwan, while my mother s side of the family resident in the South, as I grow up in the
North, I speak mainly Mandarin Chinese, and I can understand but not quite fluent in Taiwanese.
My grandfather on my father s side was a general of the Chinese military that defeated the
Nationalists and declaring the People s Republic of China then retreat to Taiwan in 1949. He
stayed in the military and retired at an older age. As for my mother s side of the family whom
has resided in Taiwan during and likely before the period between 1895 and 1945, while Taiwan

Considering the events of her life, would it be more realistic to consider that Mary Todd Lincoln
went insane/ diagnosable to today s standards of being bipolar, or was she just in a state of post
traumatic stress? From the deaths of her 14 month old brother and mother during childhood, to the
neglect she faced from her son later in life, it was clear that Mary Todd Lincoln certainly dealt with
a considerable amount of stressors in her lifetime. Throughout this study, journal articles, websites,
primary sources, and books were used to provide more insight on the details of her life and what
she went through.
Mary Todd Lincoln: A Biography, by Jean Harvey Baker, a U.S. History major with her B.A.,
M.A., and Ph.D in 19th Century Women s History, describes that Mary Todd Lincoln was much
maligned and misunderstood during her lifetime and furthers the developing question as to whether
or not she could be deemed insane. Baker discusses that Mary Lincoln appeared to others as
unwomanly, due to her inclinations to want to share her talents with her husband throughout his
political career. Other claims of her insanity are said to have branched from the torments and
misfortunes of those losses she had to endure in her life beginning at such a young

The Benefits and Problems of Migration in the UK
Should the UK Government control migration? Some believe that it is necessary to control
migration in the UK, as they believe that too many immigrants could lead to overpopulation,
unemployment and housing shortages. It is commonly believed that migration should be
controlled, as migrants come over to our country and take our benefits ; however this is not
necessarily factually correct. This essay aims to discuss the benefits and problems of migration in
the UK, and make a conclusion based on the evidence I have discussed, about whether migration
should or should not be controlled by the UK Government. The UK s post war immigrants came
mainly from Colonies in the Caribbean, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. An act of parliament meant

There are worries that migrants are stealing UK jobs , as there is already an unemployment
problem in the UK. Some people believe that we need to focus on getting jobs for those who are
already citizens of the UK, rather than bringing more people in from different countries and
getting them jobs. People also worry that public money has to be spent on meeting the everyday
needs of the immigrants and their families, for example housing, schools and healthcare. Many
UK citizens are not in permanent housing as of yet due to the fact that there is a shortage of
council owned houses, therefore we should perhaps focus on permanently housing those who
like in the UK before allowing migrants to live in council owned houses. If the country goes into
another recession, then the immigrants will add to the burden of unemployment. Many people
worry that migrants will come to the UK in order to receive benefits. This is a big worry for
some people, as it is well needed government money from their taxes giving the migrants
benefits, which they believe could be put to better use. People also worry that the migrants avoid
paying taxes as they have such low paid jobs, which makes some people angry as they have to pay
such high taxes on their wages. Some people worry that migration means that we are losing the
traditional British aspects of the UK, and that the UK is becoming too much of a

Taking a Look at Best Buy
Synopsis
When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like
Nike or Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music
(Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early
1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for
more products to be added as technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best
Buy Co. and operated as a superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company
was changing drastically. This would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had
worked on a commission based salary. However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales
associates transformed into educators that assisted customers in learning about the products offered
in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). Basically, the customer took control and the employees were
there as guidance. The idea of having control in buying electronics became more common as the
technology developed. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded
further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give
customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman,
2010, p.24 2).
The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it
grew the number of products and services through acquiring

Advantages Of Star Model Of Evidence Based Practice
Introduction:
A model is a representation of concepts which are used to help people know, understand or
simulate a subject matter. Moreover, a model is used to create the various hypothesis which can
be tested in the laboratory or utilized for explaining a case study. The goal of this assignment is to
explore three models of evidence based practice (EBP) that interest the authors and give a summary.
Although several models used in research, this paper will highlight three specific models and
provide a summary, strengths, weaknesses and a model that can be implemented in a particular
practice.

The John Hopkins Nursing Evidence Based Practice Model is a powerful problem solving
approach to clinical decision making and is used in research. The model is designed to meet the
needs of the practicing bedside nurses and used a three step process called a PET, facilitating
nurses in translating evidence to clinical, administrative and education based on evidence.
According to Melnyk and Overholt (2015), there are three steps to the JHNEBP model. The first
phrase is practice questions: Identification of an EBP question and defines its scope. The second
phrase is evidence of internal and external evidence team determine if its feasibility to implement.
The final phase is a translation which includes recommended practice for changes and
dissemination of findings.
ARCC Model of Evidence Based Practice:
Compared and Contrast the three Models Strengths and Weaknesses:
Models are the conceptual framework that helps people to understand specific concepts. In
examining the three types of models, each presents a unique concept of understanding evidence
based practice. The John Hopkins model integrates cultural values into evidence based practice.
Furthermore, the main strength of this model is it provides a simple framework for nurses at the
bedside and incorporates internal and external factors that may affect research. On the other hand,

Barbie Research Paper
History
In 1945, Ruth and Eliott Handler founded Mattel one of Americas leading manufacturing
companies of today. The idea for the Barbie doll was conceived when Ruth watched her daughter
play with adult paper dolls. She noticed the importance of being able to change the doll s
clothes, and decided to create a three dimensional fashion doll, naming her Barbie after Barbara
(her daughter). At the time, the toy market was dominated by baby dolls and toddler dolls.
Barbie was a new conception that became a worldwide hit. Since her debut in 1959, Barbie has
remained one of the most popular toys of all time. There are two Barbie s sold every second, and
more than one billion dolls have been sold around the world (Maine, 2000, cited in ... Show more

In defense of Barbie s body shape, Mattel stated that she looks fuller with all her thick clothing,
thus they made her waist so thin (McDonough, 2010). Fact still remains that the doll is
promoting an unattainable ideal that can affect girls self esteem negatively. Girls in Western
societies usually have their first Barbie by age 3, and possesses seven troughout their childhood
(Maine, 2000, cited in Slayen, 2011). Growing up with Barbie and not having any physical
recemblance to her could result in disrupted eating behaviors. From a very early age, girls are
having concerns about their food intake and weight: reportedly 46 % of nine to eleven year olds
are occasionally dieting (Gustafson Larson Terry, 1992, cited in National Eating Disorder
Association, 2005).
Many studies have shown a significant correlation between early exposure to Barbie dolls and
body dissatisfaction. Dittmar, H., Halliwell, H., Ive, S. (2006, cited in Munger, 2006) examined
this by creating three different books for girls. The first one contained pictures of Barbie, the
second one featured an Emme doll a curvier, more realistic fashion doll by TonnerВ®
(Mendelsohn, 2002), and the last book had only pictures of clothes and no dolls. The books were

as if it nothing to be concerned about. When reading these parts that involve incest i just try to

relationship between ruth and her dad become way more explicit. At sixteen, she still insisted on
having him come to her at night sit on her bed, exchange pleasantries, and plant a kiss on her
lips . Just like the previous quote i skimmed through it quickly and when i went back to ready it i
just said woah. I couldn t really believe how this relation would even go this far and why this stuff
would even be included. This made me wonder why would the author include this type of incestual

although i am mainly focusing on the incestual relationship you could see this under the gender

Case Study Of Allianz
International Orientation
The question of internationalization is crucial in an industry where size is critical. Ever since the
second part of the 20th century, insurance companies have been facing market pressures, increasing
costs reducing profit margins and an increasing amount of regulations. To face these changing
market dynamics, the industry has been consolidating, following a big fish eat the small fish logic.
Allianz is the perfect illustration of that model. The company is based in Germany but has

One day the French came and began shelling the village. While evacuating Paul and his friend
Albert Kropp were injured by gunshot wounds. They were bandaged up and sent on a train back

This ride home took a turn. When Kropp got a fever he was scheduled to be dropped off at the

sick from infection. After being dropped off they were taken to a Catholic hospital to be treated.
After a few weeks Kropp s leg is overcome with infection and is amputated at the thigh. After a few
more weeks Paul and Kropp parted, Paul going back to the war and Kropp going home.
Returning to the front was hard for Paul. The days were getting cold and one by one he watched
his friends die. The hardest loss was that of Kat. After Kat had been shot, Paul had to carry Kat
to the nearest dressing station a few miles away. Stopping every few minutes to rest, Paul

Who Is George W. Bush A Good President
The Presidency of George W. Bush
I. Introduction
Former President George H.W. Bush once said that his son, George W. Bush, faced the greatest
challenge of any President since Abraham Lincoln. The challenge that this statement refers to is the
terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 on September 11, 2001,
known worldwide as 9/11. George W. Bushs responses to the attack included a global War on
Terrorism, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. led wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq, rendering him a wartime President. Before these significant events, George
W. Bush started as a businessman before launching his political career, similar to his father and

shows there were also a number of important differences. In this essay it will be argued that many
of the differences between the two shows are the result of their different settings and the fact that
they were produced a many years apart. This resulted in a number of film making innovations that
were present in The Andy GriffithShow that had not been present during the production of I Love

The Andy Griffith show took place in a community that was usually in harmony. Most of the
stories involved something that disrupted the harmony of that community. This was usually
something like a stranger in town or a conflict between community members(Stander). I Love
Lucy tended to deal primarily with the struggles between Lucy and Ricky. On a wider level it
can be considered a show about the relationships between men and women. Also because the
show takes place in an urban center issues like jobs, going out and modern appliances were all
important. The addition of new people did not appear to be an issue in this urban
setting(Oppenheimer et al). The settings of the shows result in very different tones and pacing.

Brian s Three Survival Strategies
Have you ever crashed in the wilderness and had to survive all alone? Well a boy named Brian
did. That 13 year old boy survived because of these three survival strategies. The three strategies are
being observant, planning ahead, and using his hatchet. Those strategies and the way Brian used
them are what you will read about.
The first strategy Brian used was being observant. One way Brian was observant was when he
noticed something bad was going to happen, and it did. Brian was in the water looking for fish
for food then all of the sudden he feels something weird is about to happen. Brian stands there for
a few seconds, and out of the sudden this moose comes and attacks him. After being attacked by a
moose a tornado hit destroying everything he made. Another way Brian was observant was when
he was catching the fool birds. He was having a hard time trying to catch them. He noticed that
instead of trying to see their colors you need to look for their shape. After realizing ... Show more

Brian used planning ahead as a survival strategy when he knew he would need food to survive,
so the night before he planned ahead to do so. The next day Brian got up and saw birds so he
went to see if they would lead him to food and they did. Another way Brian planned ahead was
when he needed fire wood. Brian woke up one day and the fire was very low, and he knew he
would need more fire would to keep the fire going. He went out and got enough wood not only to
keep up the fire but to have wood for the next day. And from that day on he got extra wood every
morning. Brian also planned ahead when he thought about the survival pack. Brian remembered he
saw the survival pack in the plane. He knew it would help him a lot so he went to the plane a few
days after he thought about it. Those are all ways Brian used planning ahead or being proactive as
a survival strategy. The last strategy that helped Brian survive was using his

  • 2. Exoplanets Research Paper Gabe Bambarakos Mrs.Rowse Borelli English 10 F 12 April 2017 Exoplanets An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example, Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around 5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that could support life on them. Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the discovery of new planets from far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Adam Smith And John Maynard Keynes Summary Modern macroeconomic theory can be traced back to the ideas of both Adam Smith, (1723 1790) and John Maynard Keynes (1883 1946). Smith, a Scottish philosopher and economist, is most famous for laying out the fundamental principles of economic theory in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. In his renowned work, Smith developed the framework of a classical free market economy where consumable goods can be bought and sold with no government restriction. Smith drew from the previous but scattered research of others to found what was to become known as the field of economics. Following in Smith s footsteps, John Maynard Keynes, a British economist, fundamentally changed the ideas and policies of modern economics. Keynes transformed economics from an analytical tool into a policy oriented system. John Maynard Keynes built upon the works of Adam Smithto create an economic system that is still in place today. Their contribution to the Industrial Revolution was not one of business or product, but rather one of idea and policy; their product is economics. Adam Smith was born on June 5, 1723, in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. At the age of 14, Smith attended the University of Glasgow where the lectures of Francis Hutcheson significantly impacted him. Three years later, Smith attended Balliol College in Oxford. Smith attended Balliol for seven years before receiving a bachelor of arts degree. Upon Graduation, Smith returned to Kirkcaldy for a few years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Njv Before we can begin to talk about the translations that came after the KJV, it is imperative that we discuss the religious climate of the United States. As will be further emphazised in chapter 5 of this paper, the population of the US is significantly more religious than the one in the UK. This leads to a greater interest in the Bible. Curiously enough, in spite of the many translations that have appeared on the market since 1611, the KJV has preserved its place as the most beloved Bible in the US. These facts will become more important as we talk about the transatlantic cooperation that led to the creation of another very important, the Revised Version (RV) and subsequent translations that were developed in the US. The need for a revision in the latter half of the 19th century came from research pertaining to the Greek version used to produce the KJV translation. It was stipulated that this new research shed light... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, no single Bible can ever hope to fulfill the scholarly and spiritual needs of this market. A combination of new sources coupled with new techniques will always ensure that old translations are updated and that scholars with radically new ideas commit themselves to producing new translations that are based directly on the source text. The New Revised Standard Version(NRSV) is not a new translation, it is a direct descendant of the KJV via the RV, followed by the ASV and the RSV. In the preface of the NRSV, Bruce Metzger discusses recent discoveries vis Г vis the source text, and the guiding principles that were followed during the translation process (cf. New Revised Standard Version 9). As far as sources go, even though the Dead Sea Scrolls had been found in the late 1940s, the translators still used the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, albeit a newer version. • 9. King Louis XIV, The King Of France King Louis XIV was the king of France from 1638 to 1715, he reigned longer than any other European monarch. King Louis XIV was one of the most powerful absolute monarchs in the history of Europe. He was thought of as the quintessence of what an absolute monarch should be. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the many important aspects of King Louis s reign and some of the influential things he did and their effects on society at the time. One way he achieved his absolute power was through the divine right of kings. The Divine right of kings is defined as the doctrine that the right of rule derives directly from God, not from the consent of the people. King Louis XIV used the fact that people couldn t deny any of his privileges because if they did it would be like they were denying God himself to his advantage. Jean Domat, a French jurist, wrote in his publication on Social Order and Absolute Monarchy , Since government is necessary for the public good, and God Himself has established it, it is consequently also necessary for those who are subject to government, to be submissive and obedient. For otherwise they would resist God Himself, and government, which should be the bond of peace and unity that brings about the public good, would become an occasion for divisions and disturbances that would cause its downfall. Jean Domat wrote mostly of royal absolutism; King Louis XIV regarded his work very highly. This evidence proves that during this time, many believed that if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People also worry that the migrants avoid paying taxes as they have such low paid jobs, which makes some people angry as they have to pay such high taxes on their wages. • 26. Taking a Look at Best Buy Synopsis When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like Nike or Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early 1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for more products to be added as technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best Buy Co. and operated as a superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company was changing drastically. This would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had worked on a commission based salary. However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales associates transformed into educators that assisted customers in learning about the products offered in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). Basically, the customer took control and the employees were there as guidance. The idea of having control in buying electronics became more common as the technology developed. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it grew the number of products and services through acquiring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Barbie Research Paper History In 1945, Ruth and Eliott Handler founded Mattel one of Americas leading manufacturing companies of today. The idea for the Barbie doll was conceived when Ruth watched her daughter play with adult paper dolls. She noticed the importance of being able to change the doll s clothes, and decided to create a three dimensional fashion doll, naming her Barbie after Barbara (her daughter). At the time, the toy market was dominated by baby dolls and toddler dolls. Barbie was a new conception that became a worldwide hit. Since her debut in 1959, Barbie has remained one of the most popular toys of all time. In defense of Barbie s body shape, Mattel stated that she looks fuller with all her thick clothing, thus they made her waist so thin (McDonough, 2010). Fact still remains that the doll is promoting an unattainable ideal that can affect girls self esteem negatively. Girls in Western societies usually have their first Barbie by age 3, and possesses seven troughout their childhood (Maine, 2000, cited in Slayen, 2011). Growing up with Barbie and not having any physical recemblance to her could result in disrupted eating behaviors. From a very early age, girls are having concerns about their food intake and weight: reportedly 46 % of nine to eleven year olds are occasionally dieting (Gustafson Larson Terry, 1992, cited in National Eating Disorder Association, 2005). Many studies have shown a significant correlation between early exposure to Barbie dolls and body dissatisfaction. Dittmar, H., Halliwell, H., Ive, S. (2006, cited in Munger, 2006) examined this by creating three different books for girls. The first one contained pictures of Barbie, the second one featured an Emme doll a curvier, more realistic fashion doll by TonnerВ® (Mendelsohn, 2002), and the last book had only pictures of clothes and no dolls.
