Sean Mannion Case Study
The last time a football team played in Los Angeles was in 1994 and that was with the Los Angeles
Rams and Los Angeles Raiders. Both teams left after the 1994 season. The Raiders returned back to
Oakland and the Rams relocated to St. Louis. Fortunately for football fans in Los Angeles, the Rams
returned back to LA this year. They played their first preseason game in LA on Saturday and beat the
Dallas Cowboys by 4 points in a 28 24 comeback finish. The Rams played mediocrely, but finished
strong especially with surprisingly good QB, Sean Mannion who wasn t even expected to get a role in
the QB position this year. Sean Mannion went 18/25 for 147 yards and 3 TD with 1 INT. Case
Keenum, the presumptive regular season starter did go 6/7 for 58 yards and no TD or INT and a RTG
of 101.2. Case Keenum played well for the time he was in, but only got 7 attempts in, so it is hard to
say what his true value is at this point. Unfortunately, 2016 overall first round pick, Jared Goff played
a somewhat lackluster game and left with a minor shoulder injury. Goff went 4/9 for 38 ... Show more

In the last five years the Seahawks have been to the Super Bowl twice and the 49ers have been once.
The Rams haven t made the playoffs since 2004. That s 11 years and if they don t want to continue
that trend something has to change. The Rams defense gave up 20.6 points on average last season and
were the 20th ranked team in that category and look to improve on defense with a number of returning
players like Trumaine Johnson, Robert Quinn, and Aaron Donald. On the offensive side, players like
Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin with most likely shine this year. The only questionable position
heading into this season will be the quarterback position. It will be up to one of those three players to

Social Justice In The Gospel Of John
If the Gospel of John is about light overcoming the dark and Mark about the miracles and actions of
Jesus. If Luke is the one most concerned with social justice, then Matthew is the one who wants us to
know that, if we remember one thing about Jesus life, it should be his teachings.
We know that it was important to Matthew because it s what he emphasizes in his text. The Sermon on
the Mount, which we begin today, is not only the longest segment of teaching in Matthew, it is larger
than the comparable examples in the other gospels. Matthew puts it first, and he makes it bigger.
Matthew chapter 5 through the 29th verse of chapter 7.
Jesus, in Matthew, is Son of God. Messiah. One sent to save. One sent to teach. Jesus the teacher. ...

Matthew tells us it was on a mountainside, but it was really more of a hill. A hillside by the water.
Jesus is placed on the mountain because that evokes images of Moses. Jesus sat because that was the
way teachers taught in Jesus time.
Matthew then tells us that his disciples came to him to listen. How many disciples? Well, all we know
Jesus to have at this point are the four Matthew has told us about. The focus of last week s text Peter,
Andrew, and the Zebedee boys. Did Matthew really mean that there were only four people listening to
Jesus?
Disciples here, in Matthew, refers to disciples with a little d. Not the 12, but all who seek to follow
Jesus. The church. The faithful who sat on the hill to listen, the faithful who have sat in living rooms
and sanctuaries throughout the centuries, and the faithful here. Now. We are the ones Jesus is teaching.
[1]
And these words stand. These words of teacher Jesus. Heard for the first time. Written. Read and
heard again. Copied onto parchment. Printed on the page. Pixels on a screen. Experienced.
Memorized. Pondered.[2]
They come to us, today. And are just as real as they were 2000 years

How Wozniak Changed My Life
On February 24, 1955 I was born. Farther down in life, I had an idea that could potentially change the
world. Absolutely ridiculous, Richard said to me as we were walking along the sidewalks of San
Francisco to the train station. What s wrong with it, and can you stop talking in that monotonous
voice? I asked Richard. You re telling me that you want to build a computer for personal use. You re
one facetious guy. So, what s wrong with it? Why not take these big computers and make them smaller
for personal use. I ll call them personal computers, or I can abbreviate it to PC, I told him. I m telling
you it s a waste of money and time. No one will buy it. It ll end up atrocious, and you ll regret it,

His dedication was unbelievable. At last, months later, we invented the first personal computer;
However, there was much more that needed to be done. I have an idea of what we can call it, Wozniak
said to me. I have one too, you go first. Windows, Wozniak told me. Whose going to buy a computer

said to him. Well, Apple does sound better, Wozniak said to me as he was turning the computer on.
Oh, by the way I held a meeting, and told everyone about our invention. We are scheduled to show off
our computer two weeks from now, I told him hoping he would not get mad. Two weeks! Are you
kidding me? Wozniak said in disbelief. What s wrong? I asked. We are not finished yet. We still have
to modify the computer. That ll take at least one month to perfect it. You have to reschedule, He said

Socrates The Apology
The Apology is a piece of writing, where Socrates is addressing all of his accusers about the all of the
wrongdoings that he has been accused of having a part in. The story starts off in a courtroom, where
Socrates is addressing the men of Athens about the persuasive words of his accusers (Plato 1).
Socrates states that he is a man of old age, being over seventy years old (1). He states that this trial is
the first time he has ever been in a court of law, and he asks them to excuse any language that he may
repeat (1). The Apology is a great piece of literature that gives the arguments of Socrates, in his
defense, to the two accusation brought on him by his accusers. The first of the two charges brought
against Socrates states that he disregards

A Research Paper on the Life of John Stuart Mill
This research paper focuses on the life of John Stuart Mill and how it affected his economic theories.
John Stuart Mill s grew up unlike most, raised since his adolescence to be the face of utilitarianism.
This upbringing may have had some effect on his theories and overall beliefs in his economic policies.
Born in 1806, John Stuart Mill was the son of economist James Mill. From a very early age his father
instilled a discipline of studies. When he was very young he began to read Latin, and comprehend
algebra arithmetic. Being the oldest of the family, he was the one in charge of teaching his fellow
siblings everything he had learned. He also studied Greek, and followed the works of Plato. Although
learning these amounts of work may seem like a good thing, it was clear he could not handle such
amount of knowledge. Missing out on much of his youth, and straying away from a typical kid s life,
it wasn t soon until John Stuart Mill began to self implode. His father s plans was to create a genius, to
carry on the legacy. James Mill sent his son with Jeremy Bentham, and originator amongst
utilitarianism. Jeremy Bentham was the first to acknowledge the theory of utilitarianism. This theory
acknowledges that everyone must act in a manner as to produce the greatest aggregate happiness. This
theory is the strong hold that John Stuart Mill practiced in his years to come, and would later be
recognized as a forefather. One of the main problems with utilitarianism was that

The Restoration Movement
In Bill Humble s book: Story Of The Restoration, he does an excellent and concise job covering this
time period. His information packed sentences and logical flow make this a well worth read. The
Restoration Movement bears significance today as is did from its beginning. Humble notes that, The
Restoration Movement began in America about 1800, nearly 200 years after the first English
settlements in the New World. (Humble 1). The New World was very diverse religiously compared to
Europe where Catholicism was prominent. The author goes on to list several of the main religious
groups that colonized the New World. Anglicanism became the state church in Virginia, and Maryland
was mostly Catholic. In Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire ... Show more content on

He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the North. One point of
contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan
restructured the Society with the aim of maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The
restructuring however ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was
asked in 1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw
instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood fast in opposing
the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin, said: Better is poor singing where
love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches
of Christ and the Christian Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This
was mostly based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated that
more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of instrumental music. (Humble
65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas were more numerous than Christian Churches
(Humble 66). Division seemed to be spotlighted in progressives and conservatives, but division
abounded in each group as well. For example, many conservatives agreed against societies and
instruments, but

Revolutionary War Revolutionary Changes
The word revolutionary means to have a dramatic change in all aspects such as social, political, and
economic views. The Revolutionary war was a rebellion from the tyranny of the monarchy from
England. The revolutionary war had a lot of changes to the way countries work. There was social,
political, and economic change, but the changes in women s rights, indian rights, and black s freedoms
were also changes as well. These changes in those people s rights did not happen until many years
after the war. Because of these long period for these changes made the dramatic change after the war

Vincent Van Gogh And Salvador Dali
Van Gogh, Starry Night (1889) / Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory (1931), are two paintings
that come from a distinct time period. The two movements share a common motivation and reject the
interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and emotions in order to
connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and Surrealist represent reality
as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and inner self.
Post Impressionist artists were influenced by the Impressionism movement, but rejected its limitations
and embarked on their own artistic styles which were more spiritually and emotionally based than
impressionist work. They wanted to portray emotion and intellect as well as the visual imagery.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post Impressionist artist whose work is known for its vivid colors and
emotional impact. Although he sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van Gogh now is one of the
most popular artists of all time. Van Gogh s mental instability provided a source of emotional

Glucose Concentration In Coke And Gatorade Lab Report
This experiment was performed to determine the glucose concentration in selected drinks, Coke and
Gatorade. Absorbance readings were measured providing us with values to then calculate the glucose
concentration, these values were then compared with theoretical values. Results that were obtained
from the experiment fell short of the theoretical values which resulted from human error.
Enzymes are biological molecules which act in aim to increase the rate of chemical reactions,
achieved by lowering the activation rate for the enzyme to react with substrates to produce one of
more products. Using a multi step enzymatic reaction, we will be able to determine the concentration
of glucose in both coke and Gatorade (Laboratory Manuel 2017) which will be done using a
spectrophotometer. This is a method measuring both how much of a chemical substance is absorbed
and the intensity of the light passing through the sample solution. (Vo, K. (2015). This also measures
the concentration of NADPH which is a co enzyme assisting the reaction which followed by
spectrophotometry rely on different absorbance forms either oxidised or reduced,
NAD+/NADH/NADP+/NADPH. NADPH responds well to a wavelength of 340nm and the glucose
concentration will be determined by a certain reaction sequence linking to the appearance of NADPH.
(Laboratory Manuel 2017)
The experiment aimed to establish the concentration of glucose in two sugar beverages, this is where it
is expected for coke to contain much higher

Airedale Terrier Research Paper
Most breeds have specialties, but Airedale Terriers have a broad range of skills. They can hunt birds,
retrieve downed birds, and track and tree mammals, both large and small. Airedales were also the first
breed used as police dogs in both Great Britain and Germany, and in wartime, served as guards and
messengers. They were prized by both law enforcement and military because they retained their
training well and would work through harsh conditions and discomfort. The breed was developed in
Aire, England, probably from the English Terrier. Some experts feel the Otterhound was crossed with
the English Terrier to help create a waterproof coat and to add to the first breed s hunting abilities.

called Wonderland upon her curiosity. As she makes her trip around Wonderland, she goes on a
journey to find herself because she is not sure who she is after entering the world, and she is not sure

What Was The Impact Of Globalization In The Us
IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION IN THE UK CIRCULAR FLOW OF INCOME
The United Nations states that globalisation is a widely used term that can be defined in a number of
different ways. When used in an economic context, it refers to the reduction and removal of barriers
between national borders in order to facilitate the flow of goods, capital, services and labour...
although considerable barriers remain to the flow of labour... Globalisation is not a new phenomenon.
It began in the late nineteenth century, but its spread slowed during the period from the start of the
First World War until the third quarter of the twentieth century. This slowdown can be attributed to the
inward looking policies pursued by a number of countries in order to protect their respective
industries... however, the pace of globalisation picked up rapidly during the fourth quarter of the
twentieth century Globalization has expanded quickly in the course of recent years; the primary
helping variables are regularly highlighted as:
The quick extension in global exchange.
Enhanced exchange liberalization where there are currently less limitations on global exchange.
Significant worldwide capital streams.
Developing immediate financing by multinational companies in different nations .
Expanded global versatility of work and the related movement of individuals between nations.
The joining of national economies and developing association of national economies.

Habeas Corpus Case Study
This paper will highlight the Habeas Corpus, the war on terror and how the Bush administration
detained prisoners at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp (GITMO), a prison contained on a naval base
that was built on land leased from Cuba. These prisoners rights and civil liberties were violated, and
because they were detained in a facility beyond the jurisdiction of the U.S. constitution, the Bush
Administration has not been brought to justice. The Supreme Court should have been required to
protect the civil rights of the prisoners and the GITMO facility should have been dismantled. The writ
of habeas corpus has been referred to as the most celebrated writ in English law (Chemerisky, 2001).

Why Saddam Hussein Ruled Iraq
Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq for almost a third of the country s existence as an independent nation.
Since its beginning, Iraq was divided by ethnicity and tribal structures representing alternative socio
political communities in competition with central state government. In fact, Iraq has always been a
weak state defined as having just enough power and coercive force for the central government to
remain in control and its viability over time depended on its ability to govern and enforce laws. The
durability of tribal structures, particularly those in the sparsely populated Sunni portions of the
country, made it difficult for the Iraqi government to absorb and integrate them (Crone, 1993). These
problems were exacerbated by the faction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process reflected the historic ebb and flow of tribal power, as well as the political durability of
tribal structures able to broker allegiance for privileged influence. Powerful Sunni tribes and tribal
confederations like the Jubur, Dulaym, Tayy, Khazraj, al Azza, Harb, Maghamis, Mushahadah,
Luhayb, and Ubayd became accustomed to receiving significant money and autonomy, as well as
privileged positions within government (Otterman, 2003). Giving them these benefits in exchange for
their allegiance benefited Hussein, however it also established these tribes as power brokers within the
context of post invasion Iraq, something bound to hinder the development of Iraqi democracy and
nationalism. If Sunni tribes, representing a third of the Iraqi population, could choose which
government to support or require exclusive privileges from their continued acquiescence, the prospect
of forming an effective Iraqi democracy seemed to require strengthening the central government by
weakening the tribes. However, the ongoing Iraqi insurgency, largely fueled by the same Sunni tribes,
drove the United States into adopting policies the reinforced tribal power. The became particularly
evident in the 2007 2008 period when the United States

Analysis Of A Raisin In The Sun Production By Lorraine...
Hello and welcome to the A Raisin in the Sun Production by Lorraine Hansberry.
Lorraine Hansberry was born in Chicago on March 19, 1930. Hansberry was an African American.
She was one of four siblings that include two brothers and one sister. In the 1930 s racism and
segregation was prevalent in the time. Her parents were civil rights activist Carl and Nannie
Hansberry Tillman. She was raised in the Woodlawn neighborhood on Chicago s South Side. Her
family was one of the wealthy African American families in Chicago. When she was five years old,
her parents got her a fur coat. She wore it to school one day and she got beaten for wearing it. Also,
when she was eight years old she moved to the white suburbs of Chicago and once her and her family
arrived at their new homes they faced harassment and threats by mobs of white people. She nearly
died after getting hit in the head with a brick. Her father went to court to fight for the legal right to live
in that new neighborhood. The Supreme Court case of Hansberry v. Lee Weston Playhouse Theater

characters are also going through segregation/racism, similar to Hansberry. All of that damage done to
young Lorraine Hansberry changed her when she got older. She got married in 1953 with Robert

Essay about Geology Field Work
The area of Kuncizzjoni and Fomm ir Riħ is found at the edge of the Victoria lines. It lies between a
system of horst and graben. Kuncizzjoni is uplifted on a horst feature, which carries the Victoria lines
that are built across the Great Fault. Alluvial deposits are found in the valleys due to the percolation of
the rain water down to the lowest plains, and because of the high percentage of clay found in the soil.
Clayey soils made the valley an ideal place to terrace fields for agricultural purposes. Consequently,
this leaves little space for natural vegetation to grow. Northwest wind or Mistral is the predominating
wind in the area. A southeast tilt occurs on the Island, distributing most cliffs towards the western side

Eventually the rocks will accumulate under the sea to form a boulder field.
Geomorphological Processes
Weathering helped shape the plateau landscape that stretches over Fomm ir riħ, Ras il Pellegrin and
Karraba. Several formations could be observed from Kunċizzjoni. These include: sheer sea cliffs, a rift
valley, clay talus, boulder scree, boulder field, karst and horst graben system. Moreover, a small sandy
beach could be seen below a large clay talus next to Karraba.
Sheer sea cliffs
Sheer sea cliffs formed when the Islands were uplifted due to tectonic activity in the Mediterranean.
Different layers of rock formed during different geological periods and were laid in chronological
order with the oldest layer, Lower coralline limestone, found at the bottom and with the youngest
layer, Upper Coralline limestone, at the top. Greensand and Blue clay are found underneath Upper
Coralline limestone and are relatively soft, brittle layers. The Upper Coralline limestone erodes
vertically to form cliffs and has a Mesa landscape.
Water is the key element that erodes through the layers of rock in cliffs. Water vapour reacts with
gases in the air, such as sulphur dioxide (SO¬¬2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), to form sulphuric acid
(H2SO4) and nitric acid (HNO3), both of which are components of acid rain. The weak acids will in
turn react with limestone which contains calcium

Rhetorical Devices In The Coquette
Meghan Michalski 19 October 2017
From a scene of constraint and confinement, ill suited to my years and inclination, I have just
launched into society. My heart beats high in expectation of its fancied joys. My sanguine imagination
paints, in alluring colors, the charms of youth and freedom, regulated by virtue and innocence. Of
these, I wish to partake. While I own myself under obligations for the esteem which you are pleased to
profess for me, and in return, acknowledge, that neither your person nor manners are disagreeable to
me, I recoil at the thought of immediately forming a connection, which must confine me to the duties
of domestic life, and make me dependent for happiness, perhaps too, for subsistence, upon a class of
people, who will claim the right of scrutinizing every part of my conduct; and by censuring those
foibles, which I am conscious of not having prudence to avoid, may render me completely miserable
(Foster, 29).
Through rhetorical devices, dramatic language, and tone, Foster manipulates the readers perspectives
and opinions of her characters and provides them with the information to predict Eliza s inevitable
demise before she knows it herself.
Eliza Wharton s yearning for freedom is a fundamental underlying theme to Foster s novel, The
Coquette . Eliza views freedom as the ability to partake in the pleasures and joys of youth without the

Then Krispy Kreme will analyze the external market, identifying threats and opportunities of other
firms in order to manage around that and gain an advantage
Internal Analysis Conducting an internal analysis on Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will identify some
strengths within the firm that can be used for competitive advantage. Krispy Kreme can also grow and
expand on these strengths to keep that advantage in far reach of other firms. Krispy Kreme has
produced a very favorable and high quality doughnut with an excellent visual appeal not found
elsewhere. This is in part from great technology that allows quick finishing of cooking of partially
cooked doughnuts. Doughnuts are prepared in advance and cooked to a certain point (Krispy Kreme,
2001). They are kept stored properly and are then finished cooking by the technology of the Hot
Doughnuts Now machine. This process helps prepare for large orders and big rushes, while still giving
the customer quality and freshness. One big attraction of Krispy Kreme is there neon sign displayed at
all stores which signals Hot Now when the doughnuts are fresh out the oven. Customers want
freshness, so Krispy Kreme tells them when that is, without customers having to take chances on
whether they will receive fresh, hot products. The innovation of this technology and idea is a major
strength of Krispy Kreme and has been used for great advantage in the doughnut industry. Along with

Dbq Shays Rebellion
There were many limitations and weakness in this constitution, which led the states to revise the
confederation. Shays Rebellion was one of them. This created a fear in Americans that Articles of
confederation was not powerful enough to protect from these kinds of act and they demanded for
stronger central government. Daniel Shays was a revolutionary war veteran and he wasn t receiving
his pay from the war. Massachusetts government compelled the banks to recover farms and
foreclosure homes from the people, who did not pay and Shays was also facing foreclosure. So, he
planned to take over the courthouse, which was making these rules. He and his people took over the

Ames Bowdoin, the governor of Massachusetts, organized a military force funded by eastern

problems with Articles such as, inability to enforce individual or state tax, unable to enforce military
draft, no control over international trade, and no executive or judicial branch. Law enforcement,
regulating commerce and levying taxes, and administering justice were reserved to states. Even
though it had many drawbacks, there were some successful achievements under the Articles of

What Does The Nutritional Deficiency Affect A Large...
Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley, suggests
that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over 20% for certain
nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that caused by radiation
exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and Macronutrients Before
going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional deficiency. Nutrients can
largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those consumed in large
quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the nutrients that are known
best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among other vital functions.
Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer countries, but for the most part,
Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in contrast, are those that are needed in
relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins, minerals, and certain other essential
nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin
B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron, and zinc. Deficiency in these nutrients can result in DNA damage
through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions. Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand
breaks are a strong predicative factor for human cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that

Righteousness In WW1
The first couple of chapters in this selection was very interesting in that we see how the ways of the
world slowly began to overcome the righteousness of the people. Although they did not teach contrary
to the direct word of God, they did claim to have another system of beliefs that so happened to be
different the standard system of beliefs. This so closely follows current day problems; some religious
groups were simply formed to go contrary to the normal system of beliefs and sometimes become
hostile to the traditional believers. Thinking about the descriptions of the war doings draws a vivid
picture; a terrible war was fought, brother against brother, simply over a disagreement about who
should rule. When violence enters a conflict, surely

The Kushner s The Flamethrowers We
In Rachel Kushner s The Flamethrowers we are introduced to Reno, a woman in pursuit of a career as
an artist. She grew up working class but upon meeting the air to an industrialist fortune her societal
status is flipped on its head. The theoretical concepts of Marxist criticism will be used in order to
analyze this novel. According to the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University, Marxist criticism looks
closely at a character s economic status or social rank and examines how character s from different
classes interact or conflict. Based on the concepts of Marxist Criticism it is clear that Reno s vertical
class migration is the core cause of the social and economic plight she faces in the novel. Moreover, it

in the working class. Her parents lived modestly and made honest livings. It is interesting to note that
it is brought up later in the novel that Reno may not totally be comfortable with where Sandro s
money has come from. She later describes Sandro s apartment as covered in the greasy residue of
industrialism (203). She finds that there is an inescapable and permeating air of dirty money in the

Summary Of The Laughing Heart And The Journey
Life is full of decision making, and many obstacles that will come in your way to try and stop your
path and prevent you from achieving what you must achieve. In the poems A Laughing Heart, by
Charles Bukowski, and The Journey, by Mary Oliver, the authors both meet at describing what life is
like and how to live life like the fullest, even though there will be things to stop you, and you may stop
yourself. Both of these poems point out that you have to be the main character in your life, you have
to beat everybody or every obstacle that will trouble you, you must overcome it to achieve the highest
points of your life. In The Laughing Heart, the author says and the more often you learn to do it, the
more light there will be. (14, 15). Charles Bukowski is saying that if you learn to successfully
overcome your obstacles, your life will continually get better because there are less problems to face.
A similar line in The Journey, is ...as you left their voices behind,/ the stars began to burn through the
sheets of clouds,/ and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, (24 29). The
author is saying that as you started to seize opportunity, solve problems and face challenges in your
life, you became stronger, and you became the main character in your life. The theme of these two
poems is that your life is your life, and even though you will have to overcome obstacles and face
challenges, you must be the main character in your life to live your

The Movie, The Matrix, Written and Directed by the...
The movie The Matrix, written and directed by The Wachowski brothers, can be seen as the ultimate
Marxist metaphor. Its basic premise is that the world as we know it is fake; it is a computer simulated
dreamworld , mimicking our own world of the late 90s, called the Matrix. In charge of the Matrix
itself is a seemingly malevolent sentient machine species. Even worse, the sole purpose of this
simulation is to control humanity, which has been enslaved inside the simulation for several hundreds
of years. It was a matter of survival for the Machines, as the humans in the days before the Matrix
attempted to destroy the Machines by blocking their power source the sun. So, in order for their
species to continue living humanity was enslaved within the Matrix and their bioelectric energies were
harvested and used to power the Machine civilization. Clearly if Karl Marx heard this story he would
fall in love with it, assuming that he could stomach both the violence in the movie and Keanu Reeves
acting*.
Many aspects of the plot of The Matrix have clear correspondence to elements of Marx s Social
Conflict theory. According to Marxist criticisms of Capitalism, there are two major social classes, the
Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. The Bourgeoisie, or the elite, are the wealthy people, the business
owners, and the politicians. They are the people in charge. This elite class controls the Proletariat. The
Proletariat, or non elite, is the working class. They make up the workforce

Enabling Others To Act Research Paper
Enabling others to act is not about delegating tasks to them. Instead, it is about making them believe in
themselves, their capability and the goal is to inspire them to overcome their limits and find success.
Enabling others to act is not about people completing given tasks, it is more about making people feel
like they are a valuable component of the team and to engage them in discussions while helping them
develop their self confidence. When I think of enabling others to act, I think of the way my coaches

Who Is Clara Barton A Leader
Clara Barton s Influences as a Prominent Nurse Leader
Sara Kibbey
Cleveland State University
Abstract
Clara Barton is a prominent nurse leader. She provided care and supplies for troops in the Civil War
and had the government pass a treaty to equally protect people internationally during wartime crises.
Barton s most widely known accomplishment was forming the American Red Cross. The organization
implements her ideals of providing equal care during natural disasters and wartime crises. Barton is a
prime example of a nurse due to her passion for caring and willingness to become available for those
in need. Never satisfied with the bare minimum, she spent her life devoted to the care and protection
of those in distress.

She commonly wrote home to families that reported their men missing. The number of letters she was
writing continued to increase towards the end of the war and she realized another human need that she
could fulfill. She established the Office of Correspondence with Friends of the Missing Men of the
United States Army in order to structurally uncover missing men from the troops and to inform their
families. Barton was given rooms in Washington, D.C. to operate out of with her volunteers. President
Abraham Lincoln wrote: To the Friends of Missing Persons: Miss Clara Barton has kindly offered to
search for the missing prisoners of war. Please address her . . . giving her the name, regiment, and
company of any missing prisoner (The American Red Cross). She went on to run this operation for
four years and in total answered over 63,000 letters and identified over 22,000 missing men. Barton
played another honorable role in the Civil War when she helped a team of military men identify the
graves of around13,000 men who had died in the notorious Andersonville Prison in Georgia and
established a national cemetery around them (The American Red Cross). She personally helped raise
the United Sates flag over the grounds in 1865 during the official dedication. A defining aspect of
Clara Barton s life that led her to accomplish numerous acts of pure kindness was her inability to
remain satisfied when she knew there was more that could be done. She continued to perform various
volunteer jobs but decided to vacation to Europe in 1869 for personal time. Instead of rest, she found
new, improved ways to make a difference in people s lives. Barton was exposed to the Red Cross that
was in place in Switzerland and was very interested in the work that they did. She became educated
about Henry Dunant, the Red Cross founder and his mission for the

Thus we see that the primary objective of the front office is to receive the guest, give them a warm
welcome, assign them rooms keeping in mind their taste and preferences and be a customer friendly
interface between the hotel and the guest.
This extremely important department is one of the first points of contact the guest has with the hotel,

benefits for former players, and $620 million of that being designated to player pensions. I couldn t
agree with Steele more when he states that the NFL is a $9 billion dollar industry and needs to take
further steps to protecting its former players (Steele, 2011). The NFL attempted to appease former
NFL players by coming up with a benefit plan known as the 88 plan . The plan was designed to
provide money for the care of former players suffering from dementia. Goodell was quoted in the
article stating, The men who played professional football decades ago deserve our respect and
recognition, and their contributions to our game must never be overlooked. Neither I nor the NFL
clubs will turn our backs on them. (Mihoces, 2007) The NFL would later expand the requirements for
the 88 plan due to the findings of Boston University researchers. The 88 Plan was developed to assist
former players with medical expenses related to dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (A.L.S.), or

actually had a different disease that cause degeneration of the central nervous system. The discovery
led researchers to link the players condition with athletic brain trauma (SCHWARZ, 2010). The 88

Religion In Non-Denominational Schools
Do you want your children taught what they should and shouldn t believe? In the United Kingdom,
state school are required by the Education System Act 1944 to teach religious education. This
encompasses a variety of religions but there is undoubtedly a heavy focus on Christianity in many non
denominational schools. These schools are designed to avoid religious discrimination, and yet they
stick to one religion without thinking about those who do not follow it. Pupils from a range of faiths
attend these schools, as well as non religious students, and they should not have to put up with

Should schools balance their curriculum more, continue as normal, or stop religious education
altogether? Personally, I believe that the first option is ideal. Teaching all religions fairly will not
create social barriers, nor will it force any beliefs on anyone who does not want them. Students will
still learn all they need to know about a variety of religions, and will be able to freely make their own
decision on what to believe without being influenced one way or another. Ideally, group prayers would
no longer be carried out, so that each child can say what they wish to whichever deity they choose.
Making everyone give the same message of thanks to the same God, focusing so heavily on
Christianity even from children s first year of school, taking students out of classes to tell stories from

Moral Relativism and Problems Associated With this Philosophy
Moral relativists believe that no one has the right to judge another individuals choice, decisions, or
lifestyle because however they choose to live is right for them. In addition everyone has the right to
their own moral beliefs and to impose those beliefs on another individual is wrong. At first glance
moral relativism may appear ideal in allowing for individual freedom. After all why shouldn t each
individual be entitled to their own idea of moral values and why should others force their beliefs on
anyone else. American philosopher and essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 1882), tells us, what is

After all their actions, they believe are right and you cannot tell them they were wrong. In turn, we can
imagine for a minute that your personal morals and values contain, eye for eye from the Bible book of
Exodus 21:24. Therefore you can morally seek this mugger out and rightfully injure him and steal his
belongings. While carrying out your right to inflict the same damage on your attacker, their young
child is watching and feels that what you are doing is wrong. The child in turn applies their moral
values to the situation and approaches you with a gun because they feel it is morally correct to use
whatever means necessary to protect their home and family. This chain reaction of individuals
applying their moral values to situations that arise is a continual and expanding predicament. How do
you stop a chain reaction when everyone involved is right in their own mind? According to moral
relativity every individual is the source of their own moral authority....and who has the right to tell any
other individual that he is wrong.......according to that other individual s highest authority (his self),
his behavior is right and morally just.
Beyond injuries inflicted to another person, moral relativism is even more absurd in less obvious
dilemmas. The story found on page 118 of American Vision and Values describes a moral relativist

Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo
brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or
discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering
discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand
Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years
and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group
e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using
brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship
between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand
loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore
not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product
relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture new
customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power of the
consumer product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

The Study of the Attachment by Harry Harlow and Mary...
The study of the Attachment by Harry Harlow and Mary Ainsworth The word love brings us many

others because of something that we receive on exchange or the constant proximity forms the bound?
The comprehension of what defines emotional attachments or the emotional bounding to others, either

that nature used in order to make us to evolve and preserve life flourishing (Custance, Deborah 2012).

Harlow´s was one of the pioneers developing a research on attachment, but the main subjects on his

his studies with orphan s rhesus monkeys in laboratory. By using two made wire models mothers. One
of the wire mothers had a bottle to feed the baby and other, had no bottle, but it was covered on terry

mothers, Babies used the wired with bottle to feed only but the one covered on terry cloth provided the
emotional bound and further on the experiments, the terry cloth provided confidence and security.
(Harlow, H.F. 1962) Harlow put the bases of understanding the patterns on how behaviour occurs;
looking into feeding and tactile affection on producing comfort and security he could define
differences on monkeys in their social and cognitive development. Doing that he did categorized some
behaviours such secure, insecure, anxious, confidante, but he did not elaborate further on the type or
qualities of such forms of attachment, that was exactly what Ainsworth s was focused on. Ainsworth
developed the laboratory study called The Strange Situation Where the mother and the baby ware

Evolution of the Monroe Doctrine Essay
...American continents...are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any
European powers...In the wars of the European powers, in matters relating to themselves, we have
never taken any part, nor does it comport with our policy to do so...It is only when our rights are
invaded, or seriously menaced, that we resent injuries, or make preparation for our defense... We owe
it, therefore, to candor, and to the amicable relations existing between the United States and those [the
Americas] powers, to declare, that we should consider any attempt on their [European powers] part to
extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere, as dangerous to our peace and safety. With the
existing colonies or dependencies of any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this speech, President Monroe sought to establish specific guidelines for U.S. involvement in
international affairs (McCormick, pg. 10). It was believed that European powers would continue to
seek colonization in the Western Hemisphere and the infant United States feared the proximity of war
prone and powerful European neighbors. The strong admonitions of President George Washington
that, The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is ... to have with them as little
political connection as possible were not so distant as to be forgotten (McCormick, page 10).
Isolationism was the official foreign policy of the nation and it was from this frame of mind that
President Monroe gave a customary speech that became known as the Monroe Doctrine and
unknowingly shaped American foreign policy for the next 200 years. There are two prominent lines in
the Monroe Doctrine that overshadow the rest of the document: First, that American continents were,
henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European power and second
that the United States, could not view any interposition...by any European powers in any other light
than as the manifestation of an unfriendly disposition toward the United States (McCormick, pg. 11).
While these are the hallmark pillars of the Monroe Doctrine, it is important to also understand the
historical context and history surrounding President Monroe s decision to make such a strong

Negative Effects Of Music
Music can impact the lives of people drastically. Listening to music can affect your mood. Good music
and a nice long night drive can make the experience better. Sad music has an opposite effect, it brings
people down. For example a song that brings joy and happiness would be Don t Threaten Me with a
Good Time by Panic! at the Disco. A sentimental song would be See You Again by Wiz Khalifa.
Lastly The Memory by Mayday Parade would make anyone sad or a bit down. Imagine listening to a
song that everyone in the car knows the lyrics so you all sing along having a total blast. This song can
bring back some happy and fun times, being young and dumb. A song that reminds me of a moment
like this would have to be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! At the Disco. The song
talks about waking up after a party and not knowing what happen. A little into the song, it mentions
you shoulda seen what I wore I had a cane and a party hat I was king of the hologram where there s no
such thing as getting out of hand memories tend to just pop up . When you re having fun you tend to
believe that you look good and you can do whatever because most people don t think when they re
like this. Therefore it ends up with them not remembering much, but little memories. This is one of the
songs my friends and I listen to when we re in the car, and yes we all sing to it and have fun. Songs
like this can make people do things they normally wouldn t do, whether it s good or bad. It s

  • 3. Sean Mannion Case Study The last time a football team played in Los Angeles was in 1994 and that was with the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Raiders. Both teams left after the 1994 season. The Raiders returned back to Oakland and the Rams relocated to St. Louis. Fortunately for football fans in Los Angeles, the Rams returned back to LA this year. They played their first preseason game in LA on Saturday and beat the Dallas Cowboys by 4 points in a 28 24 comeback finish. The Rams played mediocrely, but finished strong especially with surprisingly good QB, Sean Mannion who wasn t even expected to get a role in the QB position this year. Sean Mannion went 18/25 for 147 yards and 3 TD with 1 INT. Case Keenum, the presumptive regular season starter did go 6/7 for 58 yards and no TD or INT and a RTG of 101.2. Case Keenum played well for the time he was in, but only got 7 attempts in, so it is hard to say what his true value is at this point. Unfortunately, 2016 overall first round pick, Jared Goff played a somewhat lackluster game and left with a minor shoulder injury. Goff went 4/9 for 38 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the last five years the Seahawks have been to the Super Bowl twice and the 49ers have been once. The Rams haven t made the playoffs since 2004. That s 11 years and if they don t want to continue that trend something has to change. The Rams defense gave up 20.6 points on average last season and were the 20th ranked team in that category and look to improve on defense with a number of returning players like Trumaine Johnson, Robert Quinn, and Aaron Donald. On the offensive side, players like Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin with most likely shine this year. The only questionable position heading into this season will be the quarterback position. • 4. Social Justice In The Gospel Of John If the Gospel of John is about light overcoming the dark and Mark about the miracles and actions of Jesus. If Luke is the one most concerned with social justice, then Matthew is the one who wants us to know that, if we remember one thing about Jesus life, it should be his teachings. We know that it was important to Matthew because it s what he emphasizes in his text. The Sermon on the Mount, which we begin today, is not only the longest segment of teaching in Matthew, it is larger than the comparable examples in the other gospels. • 7. A Research Paper on the Life of John Stuart Mill This research paper focuses on the life of John Stuart Mill and how it affected his economic theories. John Stuart Mill s grew up unlike most, raised since his adolescence to be the face of utilitarianism. This upbringing may have had some effect on his theories and overall beliefs in his economic policies. Born in 1806, John Stuart Mill was the son of economist James Mill. From a very early age his father instilled a discipline of studies. When he was very young he began to read Latin, and comprehend algebra arithmetic. Being the oldest of the family, he was the one in charge of teaching his fellow siblings everything he had learned. He also studied Greek, and followed the works of Plato. Although learning these amounts of work may seem like a good thing, it was clear he could not handle such amount of knowledge. Missing out on much of his youth, and straying away from a typical kid s life, it wasn t soon until John Stuart Mill began to self implode. His father s plans was to create a genius, to carry on the legacy. James Mill sent his son with Jeremy Bentham, and originator amongst utilitarianism. Jeremy Bentham was the first to acknowledge the theory of utilitarianism. This theory acknowledges that everyone must act in a manner as to produce the greatest aggregate happiness. This theory is the strong hold that John Stuart Mill practiced in his years to come, and would later be recognized as a forefather. One of the main problems with utilitarianism was that ... He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the North. One point of contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and Benjamin Franklin. The question of instrumental music was asked in 1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood fast in opposing the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin, said: Better is poor singing where love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches of Christ and the Christian Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This was mostly based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated that more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of instrumental music. (Humble 65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas were more numerous than Christian Churches (Humble 66). Results that were obtained from the experiment fell short of the theoretical values which resulted from human error. Enzymes are biological molecules which act in aim to increase the rate of chemical reactions, achieved by lowering the activation rate for the enzyme to react with substrates to produce one of more products. Using a multi step enzymatic reaction, we will be able to determine the concentration of glucose in both coke and Gatorade (Laboratory Manuel 2017) which will be done using a spectrophotometer. This is a method measuring both how much of a chemical substance is absorbed and the intensity of the light passing through the sample solution. (Vo, K. (2015). This also measures the concentration of NADPH which is a co enzyme assisting the reaction which followed by spectrophotometry rely on different absorbance forms either oxidised or reduced, NAD+/NADH/NADP+/NADPH. NADPH responds well to a wavelength of 340nm and the glucose concentration will be determined by a certain reaction sequence linking to the appearance of NADPH. In fact, Iraq has always been a weak state defined as having just enough power and coercive force for the central government to remain in control and its viability over time depended on its ability to govern and enforce laws. Giving them these benefits in exchange for their allegiance benefited Hussein, however it also established these tribes as power brokers within the context of post invasion Iraq, something bound to hinder the development of Iraqi democracy and nationalism. If Sunni tribes, representing a third of the Iraqi population, could choose which government to support or require exclusive privileges from their continued acquiescence, the prospect of forming an effective Iraqi democracy seemed to require strengthening the central government by weakening the tribes. Of these, I wish to partake. While I own myself under obligations for the esteem which you are pleased to profess for me, and in return, acknowledge, that neither your person nor manners are disagreeable to me, I recoil at the thought of immediately forming a connection, which must confine me to the duties of domestic life, and make me dependent for happiness, perhaps too, for subsistence, upon a class of people, who will claim the right of scrutinizing every part of my conduct; and by censuring those foibles, which I am conscious of not having prudence to avoid, may render me completely miserable (Foster, 29). Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley, suggests that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over 20% for certain nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that caused by radiation exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and Macronutrients Before going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional deficiency. Nutrients can largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those consumed in large quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the nutrients that are known best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among other vital functions. Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer countries, but for the most part, Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in contrast, are those that are needed in relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins, minerals, and certain other essential nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron, and zinc. Deficiency in these nutrients can result in DNA damage through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions. Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand breaks are a strong predicative factor for human cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Righteousness In WW1 The first couple of chapters in this selection was very interesting in that we see how the ways of the world slowly began to overcome the righteousness of the people. Although they did not teach contrary to the direct word of God, they did claim to have another system of beliefs that so happened to be different the standard system of beliefs. This so closely follows current day problems; some religious groups were simply formed to go contrary to the normal system of beliefs and sometimes become hostile to the traditional believers. Thinking about the descriptions of the war doings draws a vivid picture; a terrible war was fought, brother against brother, simply over a disagreement about who should rule. • 28. The Kushner s The Flamethrowers We In Rachel Kushner s The Flamethrowers we are introduced to Reno, a woman in pursuit of a career as an artist. She grew up working class but upon meeting the air to an industrialist fortune her societal status is flipped on its head. The theoretical concepts of Marxist criticism will be used in order to analyze this novel. According to the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University, Marxist criticism looks closely at a character s economic status or social rank and examines how character s from different classes interact or conflict. Based on the concepts of Marxist Criticism it is clear that Reno s vertical class migration is the core cause of the social and economic plight she faces in the novel. Here, nested in luxury with access to things that Reno could only wish for she finds the loft to be a strange and magical chamber (151). Reno s new environment isn t comfortable for her, she was content in her previous residence. This discomfort can be traced back to Reno s socioeconomic roots in the working class. Her parents lived modestly and made honest livings. It is interesting to note that it is brought up later in the novel that Reno may not totally be comfortable with where Sandro s money has come from. She later describes Sandro s apartment as covered in the greasy residue of industrialism (203). She finds that there is an inescapable and permeating air of dirty money in the Valera family. The ride up the economic ladder that came with Reno s relationship with Sandro brought greater luxuries. Yet, in the end Reno has been raised as a working class person and the new found lavishness is not true to who Reno is at her core. In addition to Reno s discomfort in her dwelling is her fear of loss, as the novel progresses it is clear that Reno needs Sandro in order to progress as an artist. • 29. Summary Of The Laughing Heart And The Journey Life is full of decision making, and many obstacles that will come in your way to try and stop your path and prevent you from achieving what you must achieve. In the poems A Laughing Heart, by Charles Bukowski, and The Journey, by Mary Oliver, the authors both meet at describing what life is like and how to live life like the fullest, even though there will be things to stop you, and you may stop yourself. Both of these poems point out that you have to be the main character in your life, you have to beat everybody or every obstacle that will trouble you, you must overcome it to achieve the highest points of your life. In The Laughing Heart, the author says and the more often you learn to do it, the more light there will be. (14, 15). Charles Bukowski is saying that if you learn to successfully overcome your obstacles, your life will continually get better because there are less problems to face. A similar line in The Journey, is ...as you left their voices behind,/ the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds,/ and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, (24 29). The author is saying that as you started to seize opportunity, solve problems and face challenges in your life, you became stronger, and you became the main character in your life. The theme of these two poems is that your life is your life, and even though you will have to overcome obstacles and face challenges, you must be the main character in your life to live your ... • 30. The Movie, The Matrix, Written and Directed by the... The movie The Matrix, written and directed by The Wachowski brothers, can be seen as the ultimate Marxist metaphor. Its basic premise is that the world as we know it is fake; it is a computer simulated dreamworld , mimicking our own world of the late 90s, called the Matrix. In charge of the Matrix itself is a seemingly malevolent sentient machine species. Even worse, the sole purpose of this simulation is to control humanity, which has been enslaved inside the simulation for several hundreds of years. It was a matter of survival for the Machines, as the humans in the days before the Matrix attempted to destroy the Machines by blocking their power source the sun. So, in order for their species to continue living humanity was enslaved within the Matrix and their bioelectric energies were harvested and used to power the Machine civilization. Clearly if Karl Marx heard this story he would fall in love with it, assuming that he could stomach both the violence in the movie and Keanu Reeves acting*. Many aspects of the plot of The Matrix have clear correspondence to elements of Marx s Social Conflict theory. According to Marxist criticisms of Capitalism, there are two major social classes, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. The Bourgeoisie, or the elite, are the wealthy people, the business owners, and the politicians. They are the people in charge. This elite class controls the Proletariat. The Proletariat, or non elite, is the working class. They make up the workforce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first glance moral relativism may appear ideal in allowing for individual freedom. After all why shouldn t each individual be entitled to their own idea of moral values and why should others force their beliefs on anyone else. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group e.g. a family member.
