The Character Of Shoreditch
A dynamic and creating kaleidoscope of ability and innovativeness, it s practically difficult to discover
a spot that matches the character of Shoreditch. Arranged in the East End of London toward the north
of the City of London, this internal city locale is genuinely the epicentre of workmanship, creative
energy and yes, hipsterism.
Creative History
Quite a long time ago characterized as forlorn and unpleasant , Shoreditch has developed a wide
margin in the course of recent years. Prior to the 1990s, it had excessively numerous distribution
centres and not very many individuals. This was the point at which any semblance of artists such as
Alexander McQueen, Tracey Emin and Gary Hume kicked pulled in and off working here. With
various occasions and displays occurring, the range further pulled in designers, movie producers and
others. Before long, this ruined and purge region got changed into a masterful society with ... Show

Staying Here
Regardless of the spread of fortune and success, the snappy Shoreditch keeps up its creativity and
restless vibe. There is an interesting and comprehensive scope of selective lofts offering a cool
atmosphere with all the aesthetic elements. From a studio condo accessible here at 100 Pounds for

Ancient German Rockets Origin
The first known use of rockets was circa 1232 A.D. when the Chinese and the Mongols were at war
with each other. These rockets were not used as aircraft or transportation but as weapons for warfare.
The rockets used weren t even the rockets we know and consider rockets today, but instead were tinier
combustible rockets attached to arrows used to propel the arrows to go farther to which they were
attached. The chinese were responsible for the creation of these arrow rockets and throughout the 13th
15th centuries the rockets being used increased in size and technology and spread throughout Europe.
This was due to the fact the Mongols invaded Eastern Europe and created rockets of their own
following their disagreements with the Chinese. Following the spread of this technology, a monk in
England by the name of Roger Bacon researched rockets and what could make them go farther. He
used different types of gunpowder during these experiments. While Bacon was working on ... Show

Rockets were only known during these early times as weapons for warfare or fireworks. However
some historians claim there are old legends about the ancient chinese empire using rockets as means
of transportation. An official named Wan Hu during the 16th century supposedly made a Flying chair
with 47 of the arrow rockets as well as 2 kites. The many assistants helping Wan Hu say after the
rockets were ignited that a huge cloud of smoke appeared and when the smoke cleared Wan Hu was
gone. Experts say Wan Hu was most likely disintegrated by the arrows due to the fact these arrows
were meant to eventually explode as they were technically weapons. However there is possibility Wan
Hu actually did fly, where he wean t is the

The Social Bond Theory
In 1969, Travis Hirschi developed what is known as Social Bond Theory. Hirschi built on the work of
other social control theorists and was able to provide a better picture of what social bond is. In Social
Bond Theory there are four basic elements that make up social bonds. They are attachment,
involvement, commitment, and belief. It is these four bonds that all humans hold and ultimately
determine conformity or deviant behavior(Agnew, 1985). The four bonds are imperative in
determining a person s conformity or deviance to society. When bonds are weak, Hirschi saw that a
person becomes free to engage in delinquency (Williams McShane, 2010). The first bond, which is
attachment, deals with the relationship one has with parents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In essence, belief deals with and individual s conception of right and wrong and the belief that society
is generally fair in the rules it holds. Obeying the law and its authorities is a big part of belief. The
more an individual obeys and conforms to these laws and rules, the less likely they will engage in
deviant behavior. The weaker the belief system of and individual is, the more likely deviance will
occur. When looking at belief one can see that an individual has a common set of values held by
society. This would make it a consensus theory on the grounds that all of society has a common set of
values. When looking at these bonds researchers are clear that all these bonds affect an individual and
society. These bonds show that all individuals exhibit some bonding to society and researchers are
then concerned with how much bonds need to be weakened before criminal behavior starts to take
place. However, what is unclear to researchers is how the weakening of one bond can affect the
strength of the others. Another concern researchers have is what kind of effects the varying degrees
produce (Williams McShane, 2010). In classifying Social Bond Theory, the first point to identify is
that it is representative of the Positivist School of thought. It has a focus on human behavior and
pathology and believes that rehabilitation through the increasing influence of schools, family,

Pythagoras’ Impact in Geometry
The most common thing people associate the mathematician Pythagoras with is the Pythagorean
Theorem that describes the relationship of the the sides of a right triangle, which is a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
Some know him as the first pure mathematician. (Mastin, 2010) His teachings come before other
famous philosophers and thinkers, such as Plato and Aristotle. Who is Pythagoras and how did he
impact the mathematical world of geometry? In order to answer the previous question, there must be
an understanding of who he was, what his teachings were, and how his teachings are applied today.
Pythagoras was born in Samos, Greece in 569 B.C. His marital status is unknown. He was well
educated and could recite Homer. He was not only interested in mathematics, but also philosophy,
Astronomy, and music. He was taken prisoner and sent to Babylon, where Magoi priests taught him
arithmetic, music, and mathematical sciences. When he was set free, he created a school called the
Semicircle. He left the school because the leaders of Samos wanted him to be a politician. He then
made a school where his followers, the Pythagoreans, were taught, had lived, and had worked. The
followers were men and women also known as mathematikoi. The theories and ideas in mathematics
that his followers made were accredited to him. They were also a very secretive group, so not much is
known how they came up with their ideas and philosophies. (Douglas, 2005) He died in approximately
500 B.C. and his followers, continued

Girls Club Mission Statement
I am placed at the Boys and Girls Club in Vineland, New Jersey. We have a mission statement which
is prevalent not only to our small club in Vineland, but the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, which
includes all of the Boys and Girls Clubs nationwide. Our mission statement is to enable all young
people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring,
responsible citizens. To me, this mission statement is especially important to our location because the
children who go to this club are from an extremely underserved neighborhood, and most of them do
not have a desirable role model or parent to look up to at home. Therefore, we must encourage the
students at this club to strive to be the best version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

So in that case performance measures should be selected to end goals of a particular institute. Solution
Proposing a balanced scorecard Balanced scorecard is a set of measures, which give the complete
view of any business performance. Kaplan and Norton (1995) explained balanced scorecard in
following words: The balanced scorecard should translate a business unit s mission and strategy into
tangible objectives and measures. The measures represent a balance between external measures for
shareholders and customers and internal measures of critical business processes, innovation and
learning and growth. The measures are balance between outcome measures, the results of past efforts,
and the measures that drive future performance. And the scorecard is balanced between objective,
easily quantified outcome measures and subjective, somewhat judgmental, performance... Following
are the strategic performance measures of any balanced scorecard: Financial performance: it deals
with how the current and potential stakeholders see a particular business. Customer performance: This
measure tells the company about the view of customers regarding the company/institute Business and
production process performance: This measure proposes set of businesses at which a

The Role Of Bias In Speech-Language Pathology
A phenomenon applicable to the vast field of Speech Language Pathology, and the foundation of
research now and in the future can all be attributed to, difference versus disorder. This concept
considers the complexities of those served within the profession and highlights the range of
possibilities displayed from an individual, that draws a fine line between a person being labeled as
having a dialectal difference or a speech and/or language disorder. A difference can be defined as an
alteration in an individual s speech and/or language that can be attributed to internal and external
factors such as race, culture, and the environment in which a person lives. In contrast, a disorder is an
actual disability that interferes with a person s speech ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are distinctive social rules, behaviors, interpretation rules, production rules, and proximity rules
that exist in varying cultures (Taylor Payne, 1983). This impacts how a client will address and behave
towards a clinician depending on their background. Within this bias fall misunderstanding and
misinterpretation due to what is acceptable in one culture versus what is acceptable in another culture
(Taylor Payne, 1983). Situational biases develop from the pragmatics aspect of language, reflecting
the possibility of response variability based upon the situation, the audience, and the topic (Taylor
Payne, 1983). Next, the article discussed directions or format bias, which reveals the faults within the
framework of test materials. The format of certain tests and the directions within the test usually do
not consider various cultures, and may not be relevant to some cultures. The article gives the example
of Chicano children who have field dependent orientation to cognition; they may not know how to
respond to an assessment question that deviates from the norms within their culture (Taylor Payne,
1983). For example, it s like taking

The results from ABC can be used to improve control of overhead while providing valuable
information for strategic decisions like pricing and capacity management. ABC was considered
throughout the preparation of the budget. We first identified the cost objective as the product line
including; Premium Pale Ale, Blonde Lager, Harvest Lager, and Premium Lager. We then identified
activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales
demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used,
Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth
Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect
costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools
by activity. The cost for each activity were then divided by the total volume of the cost driver and
assigned to the cost objectives. Ultimately, the use of ABC in its budget processes adds considerable
potential benefit to Desert Valley but will be costly to maintain and monitor effectively. We
recommend that a CFO be hired on immediately to oversee this process effectively. INTERNAL

Understanding The Birth Of The Renaissance
Understanding the birth of The Renaissance is as simple as understanding that the quality of a straight
razor shave is superior to that of a commercially stamped multi bladed razor. Looking retroactively at
the years leading up to this rebirth one can note the beginning of reflection the Ancient World and the
ins and outs of Roman culture. Influencing architecture, art, and social construction, a desire for the
classics pulled Europe from the slumping years of the fading High Middle Ages.
Actively bringing back Roman and Gothic elements of architecture including: Domes, support
methods, and construction techniques were all features included in Renaissance architecture, however
the learning and understanding of these classical techniques allowed the Renaissance man to further
innovate. Master Goldsmith, Filippo Brunelleschi, was one of the key overseers of the crown jewel of
these new innovations, a reimagined dome. Inspired by Gothic Architecture, Brunelleschi set out to
remove the flying buttress that would normally support the dome externally. Removing these pivotal
means of support required that new forms of support be found and implemented. Using the herring
bone design often found ornamentally in Rome, weight could now be pushed down and outward
effectively allocating pressure. Also borrowed from Gothic architecture was the use of chained
support. Like the Amiens Cathedral multiple linked chains were used to act as a binding tool for
increased stability. Additionally

The Tragedy Of Jason And Medea
The Tragedy of Jason and Medea The Greek myth of Jason and Medea is complex and changing.
Having developed orally, the story differs based on sources, but the main narrative stays the same. The
story can be broken up into two parts. The beginning is the oral myth that starts with Jason when he
was a baby and tells the story of his journey on the Argos, quest for power, marriage to Medea,
betrayal of his wife, and, eventually, his death. Secondly, the play Euripides wrote, Medea, picks up
near the end of the story, after Jason has already betrayed Medea. The story of Jason and Medea can
be considered a Greek tragedy because it s exciting narrative evokes fear and pity in the reader, it

Public Transportation And Public Transport
Introduction
In today s world Public transport has become a necessity, it is a crucial part of the solution to any
nation s economic, energy, and environmental challenges helping to bring a better quality of life. In
increasing numbers, people are using public transportation and local communities are expanding
public transit services ( Public transportation benefits, 2014). It not only helps create a greater sense of
community between customers from the local community but also creates a healthier environment
because it is less stressful than having to drive in traffic; it is also more accessible and economical for
people as it is cheaper and easier to commute and is also good for the environment as use of public
transport decreases the usage of cars which reduces pollution and increases over road hazards, etc (
Benefits of public transport, 2015). Toronto is one of the most populous cities in Ontario which is why
a city like Toronto, driving is a hassle thus public transit is a great way get around, it is not only safe
but also quick and economical. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is the company which
provides public transport within the city of Toronto.
Importance of vision and mission statement in TTC
Vision and mission statements provides organizations with a purpose and a sense of belonging. Vision

Parable Of The Prodigal Son Thesis Statement
INTRODUCTION
My thesis statement is about how the Parable of the Prodigal Son can be used to understand the mercy
of God.
I will show the reader the different ways we can understand the mercy of God in the Parable of the
Prodigal Son through the following sections that describe the process of mercy as a conversion, from
who are the main characters in the parable within the gospel of Luke to how that mercy is destroyed
by the different actions of the human being.
The (1) first section is about who are the human beings in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, their
principal role and actions in the story followed by; (2) section two about the self awareness of the
Prodigal Son, who was truly the prodigal son and what he desired in life; (3) the ... Show more content

The Parable of the Prodigal Son is extremely rich in meaning, especially in mercy. Mercy constitutes
the center of Christian spirituality and of our life in Christ; it is a very clear and profound
representation of the reality of the human being when he does not appreciate the goodness and love of
God. The parable of the Prodigal Son presents the moment in which the youngest son moves away
from the father in a selfish way, disregarding the goodness of the fatherly love, to begin an uncertain
journey that he believes will bring him to fuller and more abundant life, and he departs in search for
freedom and happiness.
The parable describes, then, a progress; slow at first, but triumphant at the end when he returns, with a
broken heart and freely abandoned, to his father s house. The God of Mercy in the parable invites the
human being to discover the meaning of life through the experience of the lost son who begins to
discover himself as a human being and reveals himself before his

Explain The Integumentary System
1. Name and describe the function of each major organ system in the body.
a. Integumentary system The integumentary system consists of the hair, skin, and nails and is the
largest organ in the human body. It acts as a protector of the deeper body systems, maintains and
regulates body temperature, and helps to eliminate waste and toxins from the body. It also senses
touch and pressure as well as temperatures and pain.
b. Skeletal system The skeletal system refers to the bones and joints of the human body. At birth,
infants have over 260 bones in the body but as an adult, many of them fuse together to make a total of
206 bones. The skeletal system is the base of what allows us to move around and perform even the

d. Nervous system The nervous system is the fast acting message center for the brain and spinal cord
to nerves and other parts of the body. When you think to jump, this is what tells your brain and your
muscles when and where to jump. Like the integumentary system, it also senses and regulates body
temperature on the outside, but the nervous system also regulates and detects internal temperatures.
e. Endocrine system The endocrine system houses the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, gonads, thyroid,
parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenals. It is responsible for secreting hormones throughout the human

Forgive In The Sunflower
Forgive, not because they deserve forgives, but because you deserve peace. It s not easy to stop
blaming someone s fault, especially for someone who do wrong to us. In the book The Sunflower

conflict with Karl, a dying Nazi soldier who killed many innocent Jews and begging for forgiveness
for his outrageous crime at the end of his life. At the end of this sad and tragic episode, Simon did not
response to Karl s request directly; instead he left us a tough question: What should you have done?

Pros And Cons Of Cloning
Cloning is a number of processes that are used to create genetically identical copies of an organism.
Researchers have cloned a number of biological materials, such as genes, cells, tissues and whole
organisms, including sheep s and horses. Cloning can happen naturally in identical twins, but it can
also be done in a lab. ( Cloning Fact Sheet ).
Pros:
. Parents with no eggs and sperm can create children that are genetically related to them.
. Endangered plants and animals can be cloned to save the species.
. Cloning could prove helpful in the research of genetics. Using cloning technologies, genetic
researchers would have a better understanding of genes. Researchers could gain the ability to alter

The first examples of cloning were done over 130 years ago.
The first example of cloning was done in 1885 by a German biologist named Hans Adolf Edward
Driesch. Dreisch showed that by shaking two celled sea urchin embryos, it was possible to separate
the cells. Once separated, each cell grew into a complete sea urchin.
This experiment showed that each cell in the early embryo has its own complete set of genetic
instructions and can grow into a full organism. ( The History Of Cloning )
The most notable example of early cloning came from a German embryologist named Hans Spemann.
Spemann s name will always be remembered, because of his work on experimental embryology. He
mastered in micro surgical techniques, and, working on the relatively large eggs of amphibians he
discovered in 1924, working with Hilde Mangold. They discovered the existence of an area in the
embryo, the portions of which, upon transplantation into an indifferent part of a second embryo. The
name was therefore given by him to those parts. ( Hans Spemann Biographical )
Because of his research and discoveries, Spemann was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1935. ( Hans

The first Mammal to be cloned was Dolly the sheep. That s when cloning really started to take off.
Dolly lived from 5 July 1996 to 14 February 2003. Since the cloning of Dolly just over 20 years ago,
22 other species of animals have been cloned since. ( Cloning Dolly The Sheep ) ( How many

In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was
summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the pope by
Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and everyone else at the
Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive individual. As Giorgio Vasari
once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable that even animals loved him, not to
speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132)
In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away from
the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza della
Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas and his
pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza for each of
the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology, poetry, philosophy,
law. Each topic was represented with a painting. Theology was represented by Disputa, poetry by
Parnassus, Jurisprudence represented law, and the extremely famous The School of Athens represented
philosophy. He started working on these stanzas in early 1509 and finished in

The Protagonists’ Course of Life in the Texts...
Comparing and contrasting the protagonists course of life in the texts Metamorphosis and Eugenie
Grandet
Comparing and contrasting the protagonists course of life that was influenced by their relationships
with money minded characters in the texts Metamorphosis and Eugenie Grandet.
To: Mrs. Monty
Eugenie Grandet by Honore De Balzac and Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka are stories that reflect
upon the relationships of simplistic protagonists, and their relations with money minded people. Both
protagonists (Gregor from Metamorphosis and Eugenie from Eugenie
Grandet) are affected by the actions of their greedy relatives that influences the course their entire
lives.
Eugenie starts off living with her miserly, yet wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strong desire for money or luxury has distinguished the characters humane feelings in the two
texts. Mr. Samsa and his family move away from Gregor since he loses the ability to produce money
for them by turning into a bug. Gregor s family now do not need him, hence
his family closed the door quickly behind him and keep him locked away in his lonely room. For a
while, Gregor s sister, Grete takes good care of her brother and continues to love him, but
unfortunately that does not last very long, and she is forced to get a job and go to work. That way she
spends less time with her brother, and soon she develops a sense of disgust towards Gregor, and so she
stops visiting him and left him in isolation. Similarly Charles, Eugenie s love drifts away from
Eugenie for financial purposes. Charles determination to regain his wealth and his father s honour
makes him leave Grandet. Ironically Grandet finances Charles initial steps by giving away her
precious coin box to Charles. He then returns after seven years and takes more money from Eugenie,
just so that he can marry another wealthy girl, leaving his beloved in solitary, and
Eugenie supports him out of the love she has for him. Both protagonists lose their most loved ones,
simply because their loved ones run away from their emotional attachment because of materialistic
attachments. In both texts the protagonists are the ones

The Patent Infringement And The Judicial Present Situation
5.China s patent indirect infringement system legislation and the judicial present situation
As mentioned above, China has not set up the patent indirect infringement system, but the debate on
the doctrine of indirect infringement of patent has been going on for many years.
5.3 indirect infringement of patent in judicial practice
Phenomenons of indirect patent infringement in China have become increasingly serious, however,
as mentioned above, the system of indirect infringement is not prescribed in Chinese patent law,
therefore, although there have been a number of judicial practice of indirect patent infringement
cases, there are still no general rules, the trial basis of indirect patent infringement cases in courts
across the country is inconsistent. Many judges use Article 130 of the General Principles of the Civil
Law and Article 148 of the Supreme People s Court s (SPC) Opinions on Several Issues Relating to
the Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law as trial basis, while others follow
indirect infringement of patent principles directly to judge infringement.
Three particular cases will be described in detail below.
5.3.1 Case1: Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Plant v. Taiyuan Electronic System Engineering Corporation
In this case, The plaintiff , Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Plant (HMP) was offered an utility model patent
ZL85203717 of magnetic mirror type direct current electric arc furnace in August 1986. In February

1982 Baby Doe Case Essay
Unfortunately, there had been many cases prior to the 1982 Baby Doe case in Bloomington, Indiana
that actually led to action being taken. This was the main case that led to the Baby Doe rules. In these
cases, parents were refusing surgery that was set to correct the birth defect that babies were being born
with. Refusing these medical treatments was causing the babies to die because they were being
prevented from receiving the proper nutrition and hydration needed.
The case that set the Baby Doe rules was in Bloomington, Indiana in 1982 when a baby was with
down syndrome, his parents refused surgery that was meant to fix a birth defect and was required to be
performed immediately. The refusal of this surgery led to the death of the baby boy. There were
officials at the hospital that didn t agree with withholding the surgery from the baby boy and so
decided to take it the Indiana Juvenile Courts and the court had actually ruled in the favor of the
parents. Five days after the decision was made by the courts, the baby boy has died of dehydration and
pneumonia. At first, the Indiana Supreme Court didn t be to hear the argued that the parents had

with birth defects. Although Reagan wasn t the only one voicing concerns over this case, there was a
lot of pro life and disability rights group that was being publically vocal about the case. The Surgeon
General of the United States also voiced his opinion publicly and made it known that he strongly
disagreed with the refusal of medical treatment, as he had been successful with the surgery that was

Summary Of Weekly Grocery Trip
I was going to name this post weekly grocery trip, but then I realized that most food itemI buy is from
TJ s, so I reworked it. My obsession with Trader Joe s might seem pretty apparent here by now. A
reader asked me what I buy on a weekly basis at the store, and I thought it would be a good post to
share with you. A little bit more about my grocery shopping habit before we get started.... I like to do a
big trip for the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I tend to have more time these days to drive, shop
and unload and I don t like feeling rushed during a trip. I always make a list of all the items I need
before hand, which means I take inventory of our fridge, freezer and pantry. Every couple weeks I like
to mix things up, so I ll dive into my Trader Joe s Cookbook or Cravings Cookbook and pick a new
recipe or 2 to try. Once I m in the store, I like to shop the perimeter of the store first. Fruit, veggies,
meat and all the good food that fuels your body is normally stored here. By grabbing the good stuff
first, when I see the pint of frozen ice cream, and look down to a cart already packed, I am more likely
to opt out. I only eat out 1 4 meals a week, and it is usually lunch or dinner on the weekend, so making
sure I have wholesome food is important for a healthy diet. unnamedAlthough my grocery list changes
each week, these are the items that are staples in my cart. Produce 4 bags of spinach. That is a lot of

Vietnam War Song Essay
There were many songs that were written and produced during the 1960s and 1970s about the war in
Vietnam. These were both pro war and anti war. Different artists wrote these for many different
reasons, and the songs were inspired by varying things. They were often written to influence the
American public and to get a point across. Overall these songs added significance to the war in
Vietnam.
One song written about the war was Give Peace a Chance by John Lennons. The first time he
performed this song, it was with Yoko Ono. The song was released in the United States on July 7,
1969. This was John Lennon s first big hit since leaving The Beatles. One of the song s most
memorable moments was when a crowd of about half a million people at the Peace Moratorium sang
it together.
This song was anti war. The easiest way to tell, is by the title, Give Peace a Chance. The title contains

It went about showing this in a very sarcastic way. There s one line, in this song, that really points out
both the sarcasm and anti war attitude. It says Well there ain t no time to wonder why, Whoopee! we
re all gonna die. It s easy to see why no one would release this song while most of the country was pro
war, but it was a pretty successful song when the majority of the country changed their opinion, and
became anti war. It was so strongly anti war many people even accused him of being anti soldier
which he denies. It is, however, clearly anti war.
On the contrary, there were some songs that were pro war. One of these songs is The Fightin Side Of
Me. This song was recorded by Merle Haggard. It was released in 1970. The song even reached
number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles, where it remained for three weeks. It was even
nominated for Single of the Year by the Country Music Associations. The song did not end up
winning, but another song by the same artist, Merle Haggard, won. It was also a pro war

Marriott Corporation
The idea of repurchasing shares was no stranger to Bill Marriott by January 1980. Almost five million
shares of common stock had been repurchased on the open market by Marriott Corporation during
1979 at a total cost of $74 million and an average price of $15.16 in the belief that they were
undervalued a belief that still was not fully reflected in the market price. At $19 5/8, the stock was
selling at only six times cash flow per share; and its price/earnings ratio of nine was a far cry from
historical multiples as high as fifty times as recently as 1973. Its low price seemed to offer once again
an obvious opportunity to benefit shareholders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Marxist Realism In The Power And The Glory Greene
sacrifices his safety and chooses to help the mestizo and the gringo despite knowing that one is a
deceiver and the other is a criminal.
Suffering has changed the priest s physical appearance as well as his character. It has made him look
like a small man carrying a shabby dark suit (The power and the Glory 51) with dirty hands unlike the
soft hands of the priests in old days before the persecution. It has also made him outraged at his old
hypocrisy when he actually touches the pain of the poor that for a matter of seconds he felt an
immense satisfaction that he could talk of suffering to them now without hypocrisy it is hard for the
sleek and well fed priest to praise poverty. (The Power and the Glory 113). Thus The Power and the

His character is inspired by Tomas Garrido Canabal, the governor of Tabasco who got the state rid of
every priest. However, Greene had not found the idealism or integrity of the lieutenant of the Power
and the Glory among the police and pisteleros [he] had actually encountered [he] had to invent him as
a counter to the failed priest (Ways of Escape 85). His physical appearance reflects his strength, sharp
discipline, and principles: His gaiters were polished, and his pistol holster: his buttons were all sewn
on. He had a sharp crooked nose jutting out of a lean dancer s face; his neatness gave one effect of
inordinate ambition in this shabby city. (The Power and the Glory 62). The lieutenant is moved by his
fury against the Church and his love to the poor, that he commits his life to demolish any sign that
could symbolize the Church, even if he has to use extremely violent methods.
Despite his toughness, Greene shows glimpses of the good inside the lieutenant throughout the novel.
The reader comes to see that he is really a good man when he gives the priest money before knowing
his truth, and even after he knows that he is a priest, the lieutenant s character develops and softens; as
he breaks the rules he has always been committed to and brings the priest a bottle of brandy and tries
to find someone to hear his confessions. These actions show the impact of the priest on his

How Does Danforth Occur In The Crucible
The mass witch hysteria in Salem. Massachusetts, deteriorated the rational and emotional stability of
its citizens. The obvious breakdown in Salem s social order led to the tragedy in which twenty
innocent people were hanged on the accusation of witchcraft. At many points throughout the play
there were opportunities to stop the witch trials; however, one character in particular prevented the
crease in convictions. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Deputy Governor Danforth is responsible for
the tragedy in Salem. One of many reasons the witch trials were able to continue was because of Judge
Danforth s ignorance towards what was actually going on in Salem. When Francis Nurse and John
Proctor try to explain to him the girls are deceiving him, he over rules their ideas by challenging And
do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my
signature? (Miller 179). Danforth is proud to say that he has put people in jail, put people to death for
witchcraft because his ignorance blocks him from seeing the evidence he is presented with is false. As
well as being exposed to false evidence, Judge Danforth also makes the claim that witchcraft cannot
be disproved; therefore the court has to rely solely on the girl s accusations. Danforth declares, But
witchcraft is ipso facto, on its face and by its nature, an invisible crime, is it not? ... Show more

an end long before so many innocent people died. If only people would have listened to the real facts

Rich And Rich Life
A Rich, Full Life Everyone s interpretation of a full, rich life differs. One person might say that
traveling the world or exploring new places is what makes a life full and rich, while another might say
that a full, rich life is having great accomplishments or experiencing as many new things as they can.
Each person will view the answer to this question differently simply because each person is different.
Everyone has grown up with vastly diverse experiences. No two people s lives are the same. No two
people have the same likes and dislikes, and because of this, everyone has a particular set of things
they deem make their lives rich and full. The definition, according to the Webster Dictionary, of a full,
rich life, according to these three words, apply to everyone. The definition, of full is, rich in
experience. Rich means, having high value or quality, and life is, the sequence of physical and mental
experiences that make up the existence of an individual (Webster Dictionary). These definitions do not
say that a full, rich life has to be made up of any certain experiences or activities. They only say that it
needs to have experiences that have high value or quality to the person themself. For example, my
Mother describes a full, rich life as, ...all about relationships. I am happiest when I m with people I
love (Sayre, Lynette), while my Father describes it as, ...having taken advantage of one s time while
on this earth to obtain education, work, raise a family,

Comparing The Crucible, And Les Miserables
Today, children are taught to forgive others and give second chances. But this was not always the case.
Historically, once someone had committed a crime they were thought of as dishonorable people and it
was made known to others that they had committed a sin. This is seen in many literary works
including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Les Miserables. Les Miserables, originally written by
Victor Hugo, exemplifies this prejudice. Throughout the story, the characters can not escape the
prejudice related to one mistake, or perceived mistake. In the movie version directed by Bille August,
Jean Valjean and Fantine are unable to receive forgiveness and move on with their lives. When Jean
Valjean is released from prison, he understands the bias he is going to face in the real world.

Because it is discovered that she has an illegitimate child, she is fired so she does not influence the

job. Needing money to support herself and Cosette, she resorts to prostitution. When attacked, Javert
arrests her and tells Valjean and Fantine that she is in the wrong. Javert believes that Fantine is always
going to be a prostitute and should be put in prison.
Throughout the movie Les Miserables directed by Bille August, Paris is shown as an unforgiving
society in the late 1700 s and early 1800 s. Once a person has done something wrong, they will never
be trustworthy citizens, or even a part of society. The cruel nature of society is on display by the
prejudice shown by Javert to both Fantine and Jean

A Military Officer, And What Society And My Subordinates...
When a service member is addressed with the question, Why do you want to be a military officer?
One should reflect fully on his/her decision to integrate into the position of an Officer in the United
States Military. Each field within the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines, has their specific Officers,
who are expected to conduct certain responsibilities within their Military Occupational Specialty

and Marines defend the beaches and land, the Army defends the land and the Air, and the Air Force

Arranged in the East End of London toward the north of the City of London, this internal city locale is genuinely the epicentre of workmanship, creative energy and yes, hipsterism. Creative History Quite a long time ago characterized as forlorn and unpleasant , Shoreditch has developed a wide margin in the course of recent years. Prior to the 1990s, it had excessively numerous distribution centres and not very many individuals. This was the point at which any semblance of artists such as Alexander McQueen, Tracey Emin and Gary Hume kicked pulled in and off working here. With various occasions and displays occurring, the range further pulled in designers, movie producers and others. • 3. Ancient German Rockets Origin The first known use of rockets was circa 1232 A.D. when the Chinese and the Mongols were at war with each other. These rockets were not used as aircraft or transportation but as weapons for warfare. The rockets used weren t even the rockets we know and consider rockets today, but instead were tinier combustible rockets attached to arrows used to propel the arrows to go farther to which they were attached. The chinese were responsible for the creation of these arrow rockets and throughout the 13th 15th centuries the rockets being used increased in size and technology and spread throughout Europe. This was due to the fact the Mongols invaded Eastern Europe and created rockets of their own following their disagreements with the Chinese. Following the spread of this technology, a monk in England by the name of Roger Bacon researched rockets and what could make them go farther. He used different types of gunpowder during these experiments. While Bacon was working on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rockets were only known during these early times as weapons for warfare or fireworks. However some historians claim there are old legends about the ancient chinese empire using rockets as means of transportation. An official named Wan Hu during the 16th century supposedly made a Flying chair with 47 of the arrow rockets as well as 2 kites. The many assistants helping Wan Hu say after the rockets were ignited that a huge cloud of smoke appeared and when the smoke cleared Wan Hu was gone. Experts say Wan Hu was most likely disintegrated by the arrows due to the fact these arrows were meant to eventually explode as they were technically weapons. However there is possibility Wan Hu actually did fly, where he wean t is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Social Bond Theory In 1969, Travis Hirschi developed what is known as Social Bond Theory. Hirschi built on the work of other social control theorists and was able to provide a better picture of what social bond is. In Social Bond Theory there are four basic elements that make up social bonds. They are attachment, involvement, commitment, and belief. It is these four bonds that all humans hold and ultimately determine conformity or deviant behavior(Agnew, 1985). The four bonds are imperative in determining a person s conformity or deviance to society. When bonds are weak, Hirschi saw that a person becomes free to engage in delinquency (Williams McShane, 2010). The first bond, which is attachment, deals with the relationship one has with parents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In essence, belief deals with and individual s conception of right and wrong and the belief that society is generally fair in the rules it holds. Obeying the law and its authorities is a big part of belief. The more an individual obeys and conforms to these laws and rules, the less likely they will engage in deviant behavior. The weaker the belief system of and individual is, the more likely deviance will occur. When looking at belief one can see that an individual has a common set of values held by society. This would make it a consensus theory on the grounds that all of society has a common set of values. When looking at these bonds researchers are clear that all these bonds affect an individual and society. These bonds show that all individuals exhibit some bonding to society and researchers are then concerned with how much bonds need to be weakened before criminal behavior starts to take place. However, what is unclear to researchers is how the weakening of one bond can affect the strength of the others. Another concern researchers have is what kind of effects the varying degrees produce (Williams McShane, 2010). In classifying Social Bond Theory, the first point to identify is that it is representative of the Positivist School of thought. It has a focus on human behavior and pathology and believes that rehabilitation through the increasing influence of schools, family, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pythagoras’ Impact in Geometry The most common thing people associate the mathematician Pythagoras with is the Pythagorean Theorem that describes the relationship of the the sides of a right triangle, which is a^2 + b^2 = c^2. Some know him as the first pure mathematician. (Mastin, 2010) His teachings come before other famous philosophers and thinkers, such as Plato and Aristotle. Who is Pythagoras and how did he impact the mathematical world of geometry? In order to answer the previous question, there must be an understanding of who he was, what his teachings were, and how his teachings are applied today. Pythagoras was born in Samos, Greece in 569 B.C. His marital status is unknown. He was well educated and could recite Homer. He was not only interested in mathematics, but also philosophy, Astronomy, and music. He was taken prisoner and sent to Babylon, where Magoi priests taught him arithmetic, music, and mathematical sciences. When he was set free, he created a school called the Semicircle. He left the school because the leaders of Samos wanted him to be a politician. He then made a school where his followers, the Pythagoreans, were taught, had lived, and had worked. The followers were men and women also known as mathematikoi. The theories and ideas in mathematics that his followers made were accredited to him. They were also a very secretive group, so not much is known how they came up with their ideas and philosophies. (Douglas, 2005) He died in approximately 500 B.C. and his followers, continued ... Our mission statement is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. To me, this mission statement is especially important to our location because the children who go to this club are from an extremely underserved neighborhood, and most of them do not have a desirable role model or parent to look up to at home. So in that case performance measures should be selected to end goals of a particular institute. Solution Proposing a balanced scorecard Balanced scorecard is a set of measures, which give the complete view of any business performance. Kaplan and Norton (1995) explained balanced scorecard in following words: The balanced scorecard should translate a business unit s mission and strategy into tangible objectives and measures. The measures represent a balance between external measures for shareholders and customers and internal measures of critical business processes, innovation and learning and growth. The measures are balance between outcome measures, the results of past efforts, and the measures that drive future performance. There are distinctive social rules, behaviors, interpretation rules, production rules, and proximity rules that exist in varying cultures (Taylor Payne, 1983). This impacts how a client will address and behave towards a clinician depending on their background. Within this bias fall misunderstanding and misinterpretation due to what is acceptable in one culture versus what is acceptable in another culture (Taylor Payne, 1983). Situational biases develop from the pragmatics aspect of language, reflecting the possibility of response variability based upon the situation, the audience, and the topic (Taylor Payne, 1983). Next, the article discussed directions or format bias, which reveals the faults within the framework of test materials. The format of certain tests and the directions within the test usually do not consider various cultures, and may not be relevant to some cultures. We then identified activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used, Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools by activity. • 11. Understanding The Birth Of The Renaissance Understanding the birth of The Renaissance is as simple as understanding that the quality of a straight razor shave is superior to that of a commercially stamped multi bladed razor. Looking retroactively at the years leading up to this rebirth one can note the beginning of reflection the Ancient World and the ins and outs of Roman culture. Influencing architecture, art, and social construction, a desire for the classics pulled Europe from the slumping years of the fading High Middle Ages. Actively bringing back Roman and Gothic elements of architecture including: Domes, support methods, and construction techniques were all features included in Renaissance architecture, however the learning and understanding of these classical techniques allowed the Renaissance man to further innovate. Master Goldsmith, Filippo Brunelleschi, was one of the key overseers of the crown jewel of these new innovations, a reimagined dome. Inspired by Gothic Architecture, Brunelleschi set out to remove the flying buttress that would normally support the dome externally. Removing these pivotal means of support required that new forms of support be found and implemented. Using the herring bone design often found ornamentally in Rome, weight could now be pushed down and outward effectively allocating pressure. Also borrowed from Gothic architecture was the use of chained support. Like the Amiens Cathedral multiple linked chains were used to act as a binding tool for increased stability. Additionally ... I will show the reader the different ways we can understand the mercy of God in the Parable of the Prodigal Son through the following sections that describe the process of mercy as a conversion, from who are the main characters in the parable within the gospel of Luke to how that mercy is destroyed by the different actions of the human being. The parable of the Prodigal Son presents the moment in which the youngest son moves away from the father in a selfish way, disregarding the goodness of the fatherly love, to begin an uncertain journey that he believes will bring him to fuller and more abundant life, and he departs in search for freedom and happiness. The parable describes, then, a progress; slow at first, but triumphant at the end when he returns, with a broken heart and freely abandoned, to his father s house. One person might say that traveling the world or exploring new places is what makes a life full and rich, while another might say that a full, rich life is having great accomplishments or experiencing as many new things as they can. Each person will view the answer to this question differently simply because each person is different. Everyone has grown up with vastly diverse experiences. No two people s lives are the same. No two people have the same likes and dislikes, and because of this, everyone has a particular set of things they deem make their lives rich and full. The definition, according to the Webster Dictionary, of a full, rich life, according to these three words, apply to everyone. The definition, of full is, rich in experience. Rich means, having high value or quality, and life is, the sequence of physical and mental experiences that make up the existence of an individual (Webster Dictionary). These definitions do not say that a full, rich life has to be made up of any certain experiences or activities. They only say that it needs to have experiences that have high value or quality to the person themself. For example, my Mother describes a full, rich life as, ...all about relationships.
