The Life Of A Pharmacy Technician
Collins:1
The Life of A Pharmacy Technician
During the years, Pharmacy has became one of many huge professions to take. Numerous people will
tell you that, you do not hanve to go to school to become a Pharmacy Technician; but if you do not
know anything about this profession you are going in clueless. Fortis college was my greatest
experiance, with the most amazing people people, and teachers. If it was not for school I would
definietly not know the accuracy of speed, the multitasking with communication, and computer skills
for a pharmacy that is needed. Being fast at what you do with know mistakes is a major task to know
in a pharmacy world. In retail pharmacy there are many prescriptions a day, so speed for counting and
lableing is a must. They do not want you to go to fast though because they want accuracy also. Even
with competetitors, this is where our speed needs to be, to get patients in and out with smiling faces.
For instance, Wallgreens where my extern is, since I have been there we had about 30 to 40 people
transfere from the location they went to all the time, to ours because of great customer service and our
speed. It is either on your toes you are good to go, or on your butt all the time out the door kind of
thing. Anyone within Pharmacy can tell you that multitasking and communication skills are your two
best friends. On a tuesday when I was at Wallgreens, for an example, a lady came in and one of the
technicians did not hear the woman correctly so she

The Wanderer Essay
In Anglo Saxon culture blood feud was a common occurrence and if left unchecked could leave an
entire area devoid of people that once called it home due to infighting. To avoid furthering conflict one
could also pay the wer gild but if the murderer refused to pay the wer gild they would be exiled from
their society of forced to live on their own on the fringes of civilization. The Wanderer is from the
perspective of one man who was exiled after a blood feud and this part of his story is critical to
understanding the poem within the context of the culture it was written. However The Wanderer has a
backdrop of blood feud and punishment by exile surrounding it but it is not by itself a poem that
condemns either of those things instead it contends with the idea of wyrd or fate and how it is
inescapable. The weary mind cannot withstand wyrd (The Wanderer ll. 15) this line very early on in
the poem states how you can not beat back fate and that it is futile to try. The wanderer when he ...

Using this avenue of discussion the author explains that wyrd is an all powerful force that works like
the sea and is unrelenting in its force and no one is powerful enough to stand against it. Furthermore
he goes on to say that not only is no one powerful enough to stand against it but regardless of who you
are, you stand to be affected by it because its ultimate goal is to leave the world standing empty.
Especially near the end of the poem it states how all the warriors were swept away by wyrd along with
all the other worldly goods the speaker of the poem has grown accustomed to and loved. The poem
acts as an avenue for the discussion of how wyrd was pervasive in the society and culture of the anglo
saxons and furthermore how it was inescapable and was unable to be fought against. Wyrd was
something you simply accepted and that s all you could

Essay On Sterilization
Disabled, underage girls who are involuntarily sterilized in Australia Sterilization has been a way for
the government to exert control and has been throughout history. On a global level, sterilization has
been used but most practices have been abolished in the 20th century as they the impacts of such a
practice was discovered.. The United States abolished sterilization in the 1950s as they had used it is
as a means to control individuals that were considered inferior or dangerous. Eugenics, the practice of
removing all social problems by eradicating the ability to reproduce of those who are disabled, was
accepted as Americans cbelieved that it helped clean the gene pool. Despite this belief, the United
States ultimately outlawed the practice. In contrast, Australia allows the ... Show more content on

They stated that sterilization prohibited mental deficits from entering the gene pool and due to its
simple procedure, it was not an inconvenience to the economy and people of Australia. However, the
report failed to indicate that sterilization was occurring without the formal consent of a legal guardian
or without the knowledge of the victim. Symbolic of pre war Australia, the practitioners and the
government were not scrutinized by the public and were therefore not held responsible for their
actions. Furthermore, due to the belief in eugenics, a bias of the Australian community prevailed as
people regarded the loss of reproductive rights as a practice that benefited society as a whole. Legal
cases and jurisdictions by courts have promoted the knowledge of the practice amongst citizens of
Australia. Justice La Forest, a supreme court judge in Canada, debated the methods in which courts
handled sterilization in 1986. He emphasized the need for caution when talking of the loss of
reproductive rights as this was essential when discussing someone who had been affected.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the courts need to separate their judgements from how society

Socioeconomic Status In America
In the United States, obtaining a higher education is more important than ever. The income gap
between a family of college graduates and a family of high school graduates grew 30,000 dollars in
just three decades (Porter). Institutions of higher education are engines of upward mobility that is not
afforded to the entire population. American society is still plagued with racial disparities; however,
they are no longer the main divider separating Americans. Today, the most imminent danger to the
American dream is socioeconomic status (SES). The Organisation for Economic Co operation and
Development (OECD), an intergovernmental economic organization, found that when it comes to
academic achievement, SES has more influence in the United States

Costa Cruise Crisis Essay
Carnival Corporation PLC is the largest passenger cruise ship company owning over one hundred
vessels across the globe. Costa Cruise is one of ten cruise line brands owned by Carnival Corporation
PLC. Costa Cruise operates out of Genoa Italy and operates the vessel named the Concordia. On
January 13, 2012 at 10:00 pm the Costa Concordia cruise ship began to sink after hitting a rock off the
west coast of Italy. The ship was only hours into its trip when its Captain Federico Schettino took the
vessel off course to sail close to a small Italian island named Giglio. According to Squires (2014),

No Place Like Home
No Place Like Home
To me home is where you go to get away from the crazy outside world. Home is a place where you
feel a sense of belonging and familiarity. Home for me is currently here in Derby, Kansas. For almost
19 years now my home has been where my mother lives. My mom makes wherever we stay at feel
like home. I feel the love and security I get throughout the house and it s just the greatest feeling. It is
the first house my parents have owned and it makes it that much more special to me. I am blessed I
have a place to go when I want to escape the rest of the world.
I am allowed to go home each and every day as I please. But only because my lovely mother allows
me to come and go. Since day one of moving into the house my mom has had it feeling just like a
home should in my eyes. You walk in and you can just tell whoever lives in the house is really about
family, it is a very pleasant feel. There is pictures of friends and family all over the walls. I smile each
time I pass the pictures and reminisce on the special moments and people in them. In my house you
have a chance to see the cats zoom by if you get in the front door fast enough. Or you might have to
chase after the dogs if you don t shut the outside glass door correctly. Or maybe you are lucky enough
to get there when mom is working in the kitchen. From what I have been told by friends and family
that is the best time to walk in, and I agree. But no matter the time you walk into my special place it s

Examples Of Censorship In The Film Industry
Censorship is the act of controlling, filtering and suppressing of information within society. There is
censorship in almost every form of medium, especially in the film industry. Censorship is used to
control the content in movies that will be released to the public. Starting with the earliest examples of
motion pictures, a debate arose about whether the film industry was fit to control the content of its
own products. In 1909, the People s Institute in New York City created The New York Board of
Motion Picture Censorship . The board gained a great deal of influence beyond New York City, and
most of the major film producers eventually agreed to turn in all of their films to the board and also
agreed that any movie that does not meet the standard s of the board, will ... Show more content on

With today s more open minded and liberal way of thinking, censorship has been decreased vigorously
ever since the beginnings of the film industry, though it has not removed censorship completely.
The debate on censorship in the movie industry has always been whether censorship is an effective
way of quality control for the content being published in movies, or it is a direct violation of freedom
of speech. I personally believe in the latter. Why should the content creator be responsible for what the
viewer s take on their content? The film industry has an art to it that makes every consumer of every
movie take on a different perspective of the content they are consuming. But there will always be
someone looking at this argument and go Yes, I agree. But the reason why humans desire the removal
of censorship is to attain freedom, and freedom gives power, and with great power comes great
responsibility, and surely we don t want to leave that much power to someone .

Freestanding Malls
I know that someone has used Freestanding sites (pg 185), but I will use that along with Enclosed
shopping malls (pg. 191) for comparing and contrasting. The company that I work for tends to scope
out available spaces to grow the company. They aren t particularly picky in the choices that they make
if they believe that the store will make them money. They want to be able to be diverse in their
locations and experience the best of both worlds. We have locations that come in all different shapes
and sizes. The most frequent being freestanding sites and also ones that are enclosed in malls. Not alot
of places down here have attractions inside of malls and I m not exactly sure how it looks up north. It
s interesting though because the foot traffic that comes along with the stores based in malls is
amazing. You can attract customers who weren t even planning to come to the store, but they come in
to check it out and end up spending money. In a sense, the customers are planned for but that on top of
loyal customers is really great. Our freestanding stores do well on their own too. Only difference is
that they depend on their loyal customers. The random foot traffic ... Show more content on

I believe though that malls have more downsides for our company. Being in mall there are rules to
follow. With renting property inside a mall, there tend be alot of rules that have to be followed. We
have to match their hours and there isn t much flexibility with it. Since it is an out of the way
attraction, we could either not be getting the business that we want because people don t realize to
come to a mall. People can t just drive by and see what we are. We don t have our own private parking
lot, we share a space with an entire mall. That can be inconvienient for a lot of people. Some people
just flat out don t like the mall and avoid it at all costs. Sometimes malls can jack the rent of places up

Simplicity And Sanity In Scott Sanders A Conservationist...
The essay titled Simplicity and Sanity within the novel A Conservationist Manifesto, by Scott Sanders,
describes the author s everyday life in regard to the simplifications he has made in order to reduce his
ecological footprint. Some of these are unattainable for someone in a financial situation such as
myself a college student who does not receive money from their parents every week. I currently live
with my fiancé, Isaiah, in San Diego, California, which is known for having an extremely high cost of
living. Sanders does touch upon this by addressing his understanding that not everyone has the
privilege or ability to make such drastic changes since those with lower income have different options
available. However, there are some simplifications I have already made that Sanders has and suggests.
On page 178, he explains that he and his wife Ruth adapt to seasonal changes by layering up clothes in
the winter and only resorting to using the air conditioner on the most hottest of days. Isaiah and I
rarely use the air conditioner unless it reaches triple digits, which does occasionally occur in the
summer. We have also never had the need to use the heater or anything of the sort ... Show more

If we fill dumps with toxic waste, fill barrels with radioactive debris, spew poisons into the

profit for their schools, and the players still do not receive any of it, except through scholarships

The Representation of Women in Snow White, Sonnet 130 and...
The representation of females in literary Works is a polemical issue. They have often been associated
with a misogynistic stereotype. I have chosen three literary texts to compare the descriptions of
women; Snow White , Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and The Rape of the Lock by Alexander
Pope. This will draw attention to the way that women are often portrayed as we see the common
ingredients in their descriptions, as well as any potential differences between them. In both Snow
White and The Rape of the Lock women are portrayed as vain and obsessed with their beauty. The
speaker in The Rape of the Lock condemns the girl described, Belinda, for her obsession with

We can see a clear contrast in the description of Little Snow White and the mistress from Sonnet 130 ,
to the point that they are almost the antithesis of each other. An example of this is their skin. Little
Snow White is said to be white as snow (line 8), whereas the sonnet says If snow be white, why then
[the mistress ] breasts are dun (line 3). Another example is their cheeks, where the mistress is said to
have no such roses (line 6) in her cheeks, Little Snow White is described as rosy as blood ( line 8).
Finally there is a distinct variation in the description of their hair, although in both cases black, Little
Snow White s is described as being black as ebony (line 9) where the mistress hair is said to be black
wires , the choice of simile is extremely different, ebony being a luxurious and presumably beautiful
material and wires being supposedly common and ugly. The three portrayals of female beauty are
conflicting, with Belinda s being purely artificial, like a façade, Little Snow White s being natural, and
the mistress being apparently non existent. With these descriptions go three opposing perceptions of
women. The first two are extremely misogynistic; The Rape of the Lock ridicules them as vain,
shallow people, Snow White objectifies them by

Governments Enact Laws Governing Refugee And Asylum...
Governments enact laws governing refugee and asylum seekers based on political factors. Ties
between the country of origin and the country of asylum, national security and current event are some
of the factors that cause governments to enact laws for political reasons. As a result, countries will use
certain criteria to accept different flows of refuges that will foster a policy of discrimination. Policies
enacted for political reasons do not always reflect the social climate of the country, but more times
than not the social factors and the political factors are aligned with the same ideologies.
Using the country of origin in the evaluation process is the most conventional method of identifying
ties between countries of origin and the country of asylum, acknowledge national security threats as
well as deal with current events. Every application process requires applicants to state their country of
origin. Close political links between the governments of a country of possible asylum and the country
of origin make people afraid to ask for asylum in the relevant country of destination (Havinga and
Bocker, 1999). Applicants know that the friendship between the two countries is bound to result in a
denial of asylum. The country of asylum would not want to embarrass the country of origin. In the
countries that a friendship is evident, asylum is almost certainly denied because a bestowal of refugee
status upon asylum seekers implies that the sending government persecutes its

Technology And The Pursuit Of Reaching Our Goal
Powerlifters, but more specifically women who train and compete in the United States, use many
forms of technology in the pursuit of reaching our goal. As a female powerlifter residing in the United
States I have been to numerous competitions and have had the opportunity to meet many others who
belong to the same demographic. Therefore, I can testify that my goal is similar to that of the entire
group. Our fundamental goal is to lift the most weight on the squat, bench press, deadlift, and the
combined total of these three lifts. In order to reach that goal we utilize many forms of technology. I
have categorized these forms of technology into three sections: technology within equipment,
technology for safety, and technology for information/improvement. Though there are other forms of
technology utilized, these categories cover the majority of technology we commonly employ.
Ultimately, the technology we use makes it easier for female powerlifters, like myself, who compete
in the United States to reach our goal of lifting the most amount of weight on our three lifts because it
allows us to lift without being limited by the amount of weight equipment can hold, without injury,
and with information necessary for improvement. Let us begin our discussion on how technology is
employed in a powerlifter s day to day activities by looking at the technology within the equipment
category. For starters, we lift weight on barbells designed specifically for powerlifting. The tensile

The Most Important Part Of A Team
The amount of action happening backstage of a sport is really exhausting. There s multiple steps and
knowledge that has to be put in play. Coaches are probably the most important part of a team. They
are the ones that lead the team towards the main goal. One may think that winning is the main key to
success, but it is definitely not. It takes effort to be in a team but it takes a person with a lot of
patience, courage, and understanding to be a coach. Taking various actions like specific skills,
techniques and being an effective coach/ positive approach have a huge role in being a win win coach.
Sports can be traced back to 6000 BC. It was said that swimming and archery were first played and
the evidence was painted on caves. Baseball was invented in 1829. The first professional league was
formed in 1876. Later on the game of rugby became known as football in the United States. The first
game was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton University. Although, during the 19th
century sports started to become actual official sports. (C 107 110)
A famous coach that is still looked upon is Tony Dungy. Tony Dungy was the first African American

Short Bowel Syndrome Case Study
Short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a heterogeneous, malabsorptive disorder that occurs after an extensive
small bowel resection surgery (2). Conditions of the small bowel which may warrant this type of
surgery include Crohn s disease, post radiation enteritis, ischemia/other vascular issues of the bowel,
malignancy, trauma, tumors, and complications from previous abdominal or gastric bypass surgery (1,
2). Once the bowel has been resected, the normal processes involved in absorption of nutrients,
electrolytes, and fluids are altered (1). A variety of long term complications related to SBS exists and
is dependent upon which sections of the bowel remain, the amount of remaining bowel, and the
functional and structural adaptations that occur post surgery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the jejunum only has the ability to adapt functionally, but the ileum has the ability to
adapt functionally and structurally (3). Therefore, the more ileum remaining after a resection, the
better the outcome. The severity of SBS symptoms is largely based on the type of small bowel
resection surgery that has been performed. Three distinct bowel resections are known to result in SBS:
jejuno ileal anastomosis, jejuno colic anastomosis, and end jejunostomy (3). The adverse symptoms
created by SBS vary based on the type of resection that has occurred, the phase of post resection in
which the patient is, and the extent of adaptation of the bowel that occurs.

Criticism In Virginia Woolf s To The Lighthouse
Virginia Woolf is held to be one of the great feminist writers of modern times. In To the Lighthouse,
we find Woolf s presentation of a family which is at war with itself, while surrounded by war in the
world. In this paper, I would attempt a psychoanalytic reading of the text, based on Freud s views. The
paper would focus on the relationship between Mr Ramsey and his son, James, from the perspective of
the Oedipus Complex. James would also be looked at separately to bring out his character from
Freudian theory of the stages of the development of the boy from boyhood to adulthood. The
lighthouse would be taken as a symbol, and be interpreted psychoanalytically. The war and its impact
on the family would be looked upon to have created certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Freud, every male child, before the puberty stage, that is, in the third stage, which he
calls the Phallic Stage , has got affectionate feelings for his mother, and seeing the father in possession
of the mother, develops a feeling of bitterness towards his father. The little ego of the boy makes him
see his father as a stronger force, which is there where it wants to be beside the mother. In Freud s
words, A single idea of general value dawned on me. I have found, in my own case too, [the
phenomenon of] being in love with my mother and jealous of my father, and now I consider it a
universal event in early childhood, even if not so early in children who have been made hysterical....If
this is so, we can understand the gripping power of Oedipus Rex, in spite of all the objections that
reason raises against the presupposition of fate; and we can understand why the later drama of fate
was bound to fail so miserably (Masson 271 272). James has got lots of bitter feelings for his father,
for he feels he always hinders him. It is the mother who treats him with affection, and he, as per the
boy suffering from the Oedipus Complex, turns towards the mother for

Jack’s Transformation in Jack and the Beanstalk Essay
Jack and the Beanstalk Jack s Transformation
Jack and the Beanstalk is an example of a Buildungsroman. As the tale progresses, Jack evolves from
an immature person into a mature, self assertive person. While minor differences exist in various
versions of the tale, such as those between Joseph Jacobs and Horace Elisha Scudder s versions, the
tale can always be read as Jack s quest for maturity. Some critics, however, analyze the tale as one in
which Jack remains spoiled and immature. While they make points which support their claims, careful
analysis of the tale will reveal that Jack s struggle to grow up and to achieve maturity is representative
of the difficult process of adolescent (especially male) maturation and the ... Show more content on

A closer reading, though, reveals why entering into the Giant s land and stealing the Giant s treasures
is significant to the progress of Jack s maturity.
Jack does indeed begin as an immature, spoiled child. In Scudder s version, which is a moral version
containing a fairy who justifies Jack s decision to steal the Giant s treasures, Jack s mother blames him
for making her a beggar (23). In Jacobs version, which is a traditional version without the fairy, Jack s
inability to get a job shows his immaturity. As Martha Wolfenstein states, Jack is spoiled or lazy or
cannot hold a job or . . . has carelessly exhausted the family substance (243). When the cow, Milky
white, stops giving milk, Jack s mother sends him to the marketplace to sell the cow for money
(Jacobs 59). This venture is a very important first step in Jack s road to maturity, though it may not
seem so at the time. This is the first time that we know of Jack s mother ever sending him to the
market. According to Bruno Bettelheim, this first encounter with the world represents the end of
infancy for Jack. As Bettelheim reminds us, Jack s mother demands that he learn to make do with
what the outside world can offer (188). Now that Jack can no longer expect his mother to do
everything for him, he realizes that he must take steps toward maturity. As Bettelheim says, The child
then has to begin the long and difficult

Annene Frank And The Story Of Anne Frank
Books or stories affect people in different ways, many of them being happy because everyone lives
happily ever after. Very rarely do I get affected by books, and the Story of Anne Frank is one of them.
This poor Jewish girl, has to hide away with seven other people, three of them being her actual family
members. Mrs Vandaan was one of the many people living in that annex. In some way shape or form I
connected with this character on an emotional level. She showed me that there is more to life than
buying the most expensive clothing, and how to care for people. Just as she cared for her husband and
son. When Anne dropped milk on her fur coat, it showed me that I should forgive, even if it seems like
it could never be forgiven. Even if it was a coat from my father. Anne s life became the opposite of a
normal kids life, when she had to go into hiding. This I find cruel and unfair, she should be able to go
play outside and hang out with friends. Yet she can t, and it s all because of a religion. When she s in
this annex she is getting skinnier and skinnier by the day because they have so many people, and not a
surplus of food. This cruel, for this girl and her family to have to go through this. It makes me even
more upset because of my german heritage. World War 2 was caused because of Hitler and his desire
to make the perfect race. This meant getting rid of the Jews, why this group of people I don t know,
but it s still unfair. He thought that if you had blue eyes and

Suffering and The Book of Job
Life is difficult. Suffering...is not an exception to the human condition, it is the human condition
(Gomes 405). The question of why life can be unjustly cruel is asked today and has been asked since
the beginning of time.
And where is God in the midst of hardship? Is He non existent, as the pagan statement, It s Chance
alone that moves and rules our lives implies (Neiman 442). Or is God only partially in control of
situations, as Harold Kushner concludes, writing, there are some things God does not control (462). Is
all suffering a direct result of our own actions, as David Neiman offers ( He who is suffering and
believes in a God of justice, must also blame himself for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Job, a righteous man devastated beyond imagination, cries out to God in a way many can identify
with. He expresses his anger toward God (10:8), feels separated from God (13:24), and demands an
answer form God (10:2). However, the reader can observe Job s struggle with his righteousness. He
claims his innocence and even presents to God specific deeds he has done throughout his life (29:1
25). But then he constantly comes back to the same question: But how can a man be just before God?
(9:2). This profound question is crucial to our understanding of our relationship to God and our
acceptance of His will. As good as Job is, when he sees himself in the light of God s perfection, he
realizes that he is just as wretched as the next guy. God owes him nothing.
God s very first words to Job, Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (38:2)
speak clearly to all people. The problem of man s existence is that he does not know what is going on
in the universe beyond the veil of mystery, and is unaware of the workings of God (Neiman 443). God
has a perfect understanding of justice, an omniscience that we cannot fathom, and, as Biblical history
has shown, God has perhaps used people unfairly to accomplish his will. For believing Christians,
God performed the most unfair act of all by allowing Christ, His son, to be mocked, tortured, and

The first example is about Ghyslain Raza. Raza recorded himself preforming an imaginary battle with

video going viral globally. Since the video had been posted, the video has been watched over 32

believe the accuser not the accused. Jessica compares internet shaming to that of Ancient Romans and
how they branded criminals on the forehead for the crime they committed, or how colonial American

public shaming doesn t work. Yes, nothing disappears from the internet, but eventually it will be

Male Gaze In The Gaze
The gaze is an important part of any literary work in that it defines the viewpoint from which the
reader sees the rest of the story. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view.
It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers
understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often
unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes
how an audience sees certain things. An example of this is through the institution of white supremacy
in media via the gaze of the mass media in the mid 20th century. As Bell Hooks explains, when black
people in the United States first had the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether it be the console game or the video, the gaze conveys the same image: the woman is an
object, there for the male to act upon, but without any input onto her surroundings of her own.
Let us take, for example, the role of Mary Jane in the Spiderman franchise. This is especially
important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the
male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane is the
object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain Green
Goblin.
Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently captured
and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save the day. And
then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the obvious danger that his
existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for a minute, what things
would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary Jane. The story would be
entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own

Sociological Theories On Crime
Sociological theories on crime, whether they are macro or micro, look at external factors in
determining causative reasons for criminal conduct (Bohm Vogel, 2011). This process is very different
from biological and psychological crime theories, which focus on internal characteristics of a person
(Bohm Vogel, 2011). Macrosociological theory accounts for the overall big picture of a society taking
into account the physical structure of an area and how it is laid out. This information is used to
theorize if they have an influence on criminal activity for that particular location or neighborhood
(Bohm Vogel, 2011). Microsociological theories focus in on a more concentrated view of individual s
external interactions with each other or specific programs such as church or school (Bohm Vogel,
2011). These theories try to explain if these interactions foster a criminal environment or cause the
opposite (Bohm Vogel, 2011).
Macrosociological theory accounts for a large area of societal processes (Boundless, n.d.). Macro
theory has been practiced since the original studies of Emile Durkheim (Boundless, n.d.). It has also
been the most popular choice in sociology crime studies (Boundless, n.d.). Part of the reason for this is
because historical evidence shows that early studies of Macro theories, which investigate the entire
society makeup, focused on the following three topics. First, sociologists would determine what kept
the bonds of a society united (Boundless,

Some Information about Rational Expectations Theory
The theory of rational expectations is particularly important for workers ideological of national
security , because it is derived from the consequences of the assumption that reaches people in social
policy in a rational way , and some of the consequences of its flavor from the ideological principles
such as the principle of expediency or Maximin Rawlsian ( see (1 ) for a survey ) . Research has
shown that the relevant bargaining in fashion that can be seen as rational from the point of the
individual s point of view , such as the Nash bargaining or Raiffa Kalai Smorodinsky bargaining , and

Arguments contract
One way to link an individual to work with the principle of rational thought is an argument of the
social contract . The basic idea , which goes back to Thomas Hobbes (2) , is that rational individuals
will participate in the social agreement to behave morally . They will do so because the alternative is
chaos , that life solitary , poverty and filth , irrational , and short . Most importantly , it will continue
to comply with the agreement , because (according to Hobbes ) it will install voluntarily and
authoritarian government , which gives them an incentive strong to do so.

Sir William Wallace In Flannery O Connor s Braveheart
Fact or fiction? The thrilling adventures of Robin Hood have survived nearly 800 years. Never ceasing

than just a legend. Robin achieved great things in his life, although too great, it seems, for a real man.
It is thought that these tales could have been based on the life of one man, exaggerated, but real

Silver In Alloy Essay
Analysis of Silver in an Alloy
Introduction
In this experiment an alloy of silver will be analyzed to determine its silver content. The silver copper
alloy will be dissolved in nitric acid, the silver will be precipitated as silver chloride, and the silver
chloride will be filtered, washed, dried and its mass determined. From the mass of the silver chloride
formed and the mass of the original sample, you will be able to calculate the percent of silver in the
alloy. Because the results are based on the mass of a product, this procedure is classified as a
gravimetric analysis.
Silver and copper are very nonreactive metals. Neither will dissolve in hydrochloric acid or sulfuric
acid. The oxidizing acid nitric acid, HN03, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While in table 1 it is shown that we had to round to two decimal places lacing a small error. And not
only that but also the fact that as table 2 shows that the final amount needed was .0131 g less to the
actual mount that we added from table 1. During the procedure our percent error must of have come
from loosing the silver ions. After heating we had to wash the moisture of the watch glass back into
the beaker and there could have been a possibility that we didn t wash of all of the silver back into the
beaker. When it precipitated, some of the particles may have peptized causing us to filter out some of
the silver chloride precipitate. Also when removing the filter paper from the buchner funnel some of
the precipitate may have been lost, which is just due to human error. Which all experiments have.
Discussion
In the lab you must first dissolve the alloy in nitric acid; if the allot doesn t completely dissolve it may
cause some error in your final result because not all of your silver ions were dissolved. You then must
make a solution of distilled water added with sodium chloride. Once you calculate the amount of
sodium chloride needed you must double the amount for the experiment to push the reaction to a full
completion. This essentially should precipitate all of silver and none of the copper. No accurate
balance is needed to measure out the sodium chloride because as long as you have an excess of

They went to go look for the Bacchus, the Roman God of Wine. While looking for Bacchus, Percy and
Jason were possessed by edilions from the underworld. Percy and Jason started to attack Piper, so then
Piper used her charming powers of Aphrodite to remove the edilions from Percy and Jason. Then the
demi gods split up into groups to go look for the Athena Parthenos Statue. Annabeth, looking for the
Athena Parthenos Statue, had fell into an underground tunnel. In that tunnel, she saw cobwebs that
reminded her of the demi god Arachne. But when Annabeth had fallen she had broken her ankle and
was unable to move. Arachne was in the tunnel with Annabeth, so Arachne slowly approached
Annabeth and said I swore to kill all of Athena s children . Annabeth had used her intelligence to trick
Arachne, by saying that she could display Arachne s tapestry on Mt.Olympus if she spared Annabeth.
Annabeth told Arachne what to weave, Arachne didn t know that she was weaving a handcuff design.
Once Arachne was done weaving, she found herself trapped in her own tapestry. Arachne then started
thrashing and smashing, to break herself free, but the underground tunnels they were in were
thousands of years old. The ground above and below had started to shake and rumble and blown up,
Percy, Arachne, and Annabeth had fell into the pit of Tartarus. These are the important parts of the

American Manufacturing and the U.S Economy Essay
For over half a century, American manufacturing has dominated the globe. During this period, many
great American businesses and corporations began. Companies like General
Motors, Levi, and Ford became widely known and promoted. American manufacturing became
synonymous with quality, greatness, and reliability. However, manufacturing in the U.S has started to
plummet as the economy has begun this recession. It may seem as if the country that used to make
everything is really on the edge of making virtually nothing. U.S. jobs in manufacturing have been
vanishing at a fast rate and unemployment percent is on the rise, but despite the vanishing jobs
Americans productivity is on the rise and Americans still lead the ... Show more content on

Even with the misfortune with unemployment, Americans still lead the world in manufacturing. But
there is a counterbalance to the drop in total employment, the dramatic rise in productivity. According
to the National Association of Manufacturers, over the past two decades manufacturing productivity
has grown by 94%, which is considerably faster than the rest of the U.S. business sector, where
productivity grew by 38% over the same time period.
Another concept that is brought up by the article is international trade and business. There are a
number of gains to be obtained from international trade, such as lower prices, greater choice, and a
variety of resources. Many of the millions of laid off workers in recent years ended up shifting into
lower salaried service jobs, while U.S. manufacturers relocated production facilities to low cost
countries. The U.S has established great economic trade connections with the rest of the world, and
that has lead to U.S. based plants shifting work over to foreign competitors, such as China, so that
they can have cheap labor. It is much cheaper to have workers overseas however there is the danger of
unemployment. The United States needs to protect the economy from imports, so sometimes a tariff is
applied. A tariff is a tax that is charged on imported goods.

Virtues Of Happiness Moral Ethics
Virtues of Happiness Moral Ethics
An individual s virtue ethics does not depend on the society that they live in, the spirituality that they
follow, or their culture/upbringing; but they depend exclusively on the individuals themselves.
Aristotle introduced moral ethics theory in his Nicomachean Ethics books. The idea of ethics is
questioning long term goals, what sort of person do I want to be instead of instantaneous decisions
that question what should I do in this situation? Virtues are not so much to do with right or wrong but
rather where that decision is coming from. What is in the heart of the person that answers/acts is what
matters in the virtuous world. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do, virtue ethics
asks how you can be a better person. According to Aristotle this pursuit of constantly trying to
improve one s self to be a better person is what true happiness is in life, as he underlines in his own
definition of happiness: happiness is a certain activity of the soul in conformity with perfect virtue. (1)
(Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics Book 1).
As it is with all things, the more you practice something, the better you will be at it. Virtues are not
born into us, so the same principle of habits applies to our development of a virtuous life or to a
person s behavior throughout their lives. The more you develop the habit of acting virtuous, the closer
you will become to achieving a virtuous life. This is a lifelong commitment as a person

Battle Of Peleliu Essay
When people think of battles during World War II they immediately think of Pearl Harbor, the Battle
of Midway, and troops storming the beach of Normandy. Rightfully so, seeing that they are some of
the most significant battles of the war, but the Battle of Peleliu is just a significant. A tiny island
nestled in the Palau Islands, the island of Peleliu was the site of one of the bloodiest engagements of
the war. This paper will discuss the history of the battle of Peleliu using information gathered through
extensive research. It will also address the intelligence available to the Allies which perhaps led to a
high number of casualties and an alternate outcome that could have saved the lives of thousands.

According to HistoryNet (1948) Marine Corps General William H. Rupertus commanded the 1st
Marine Division in the assault against Axis forces, specifically the Japanese and their commander,
Colonel Kunio Nakagawa. More than 35,000 service members (27,000 Americans and 11,000
Japanese) were engaged in this significant battle of World War II. Of those troops, The United States
lost more than one third of their defense (9800), whereas more than 10,000 Japanese soldiers were
killed and 200 were captured. Research by Gypton (2004) identified that the 1st Marine Division,
comprised of the 1st, 5th and 7th Marine Regiment (MR), landed in their strategically placed locations
on the island of Peleliu on the morning of September 15th, 1944. Troops moved onto the island in
waves as they received cover fire from naval vessels and aerial strikes. The 1st MR was deployed on
the west, 5th MR would maneuver through the middle, and 7th engaged from the south, with a
mission to push enemy forces to the eastern part of the island. The Japanese, nestled in their respective
bunkers and caves, awaited the initial fire and further instruction from their higher headquarters. The
initial battle continued over the next month. Many engagements, such as the Bloody Nose Ridge,
which was one of the most gruesome, lasted until October 12th when the island was declared secure

Numerous people will tell you that, you do not hanve to go to school to become a Pharmacy Technician; but if you do not know anything about this profession you are going in clueless. Fortis college was my greatest experiance, with the most amazing people people, and teachers. If it was not for school I would definietly not know the accuracy of speed, the multitasking with communication, and computer skills for a pharmacy that is needed. Being fast at what you do with know mistakes is a major task to know in a pharmacy world. In retail pharmacy there are many prescriptions a day, so speed for counting and lableing is a must. They do not want you to go to fast though because they want accuracy also. Even with competetitors, this is where our speed needs to be, to get patients in and out with smiling faces. For instance, Wallgreens where my extern is, since I have been there we had about 30 to 40 people transfere from the location they went to all the time, to ours because of great customer service and our speed. It is either on your toes you are good to go, or on your butt all the time out the door kind of thing. Anyone within Pharmacy can tell you that multitasking and communication skills are your two best friends. • 3. The Wanderer Essay In Anglo Saxon culture blood feud was a common occurrence and if left unchecked could leave an entire area devoid of people that once called it home due to infighting. To avoid furthering conflict one could also pay the wer gild but if the murderer refused to pay the wer gild they would be exiled from their society of forced to live on their own on the fringes of civilization. The Wanderer is from the perspective of one man who was exiled after a blood feud and this part of his story is critical to understanding the poem within the context of the culture it was written. However The Wanderer has a backdrop of blood feud and punishment by exile surrounding it but it is not by itself a poem that condemns either of those things instead it contends with the idea of wyrd or fate and how it is inescapable. The weary mind cannot withstand wyrd (The Wanderer ll. 15) this line very early on in the poem states how you can not beat back fate and that it is futile to try. The wanderer when he ... Especially near the end of the poem it states how all the warriors were swept away by wyrd along with all the other worldly goods the speaker of the poem has grown accustomed to and loved. Symbolic of pre war Australia, the practitioners and the government were not scrutinized by the public and were therefore not held responsible for their actions. Furthermore, due to the belief in eugenics, a bias of the Australian community prevailed as people regarded the loss of reproductive rights as a practice that benefited society as a whole. Legal cases and jurisdictions by courts have promoted the knowledge of the practice amongst citizens of Australia. Justice La Forest, a supreme court judge in Canada, debated the methods in which courts handled sterilization in 1986. He emphasized the need for caution when talking of the loss of reproductive rights as this was essential when discussing someone who had been affected. There is censorship in almost every form of medium, especially in the film industry. Censorship is used to control the content in movies that will be released to the public. Starting with the earliest examples of motion pictures, a debate arose about whether the film industry was fit to control the content of its own products. In 1909, the People s Institute in New York City created The New York Board of Motion Picture Censorship . I personally believe in the latter. Why should the content creator be responsible for what the viewer s take on their content? The film industry has an art to it that makes every consumer of every movie take on a different perspective of the content they are consuming. The essay titled Simplicity and Sanity within the novel A Conservationist Manifesto, by Scott Sanders, describes the author s everyday life in regard to the simplifications he has made in order to reduce his ecological footprint. Some of these are unattainable for someone in a financial situation such as myself a college student who does not receive money from their parents every week. I currently live with my fiancé, Isaiah, in San Diego, California, which is known for having an extremely high cost of living. Sanders does touch upon this by addressing his understanding that not everyone has the privilege or ability to make such drastic changes since those with lower income have different options available. However, there are some simplifications I have already made that Sanders has and suggests. On page 178, he explains that he and his wife Ruth adapt to seasonal changes by layering up clothes in the winter and only resorting to using the air conditioner on the most hottest of days. Ties between the country of origin and the country of asylum, national security and current event are some of the factors that cause governments to enact laws for political reasons. As a result, countries will use certain criteria to accept different flows of refuges that will foster a policy of discrimination. Policies enacted for political reasons do not always reflect the social climate of the country, but more times than not the social factors and the political factors are aligned with the same ideologies. Using the country of origin in the evaluation process is the most conventional method of identifying ties between countries of origin and the country of asylum, acknowledge national security threats as well as deal with current events. Every application process requires applicants to state their country of origin. Close political links between the governments of a country of possible asylum and the country of origin make people afraid to ask for asylum in the relevant country of destination (Havinga and Bocker, 1999). Applicants know that the friendship between the two countries is bound to result in a denial of asylum. The country of asylum would not want to embarrass the country of origin. As a female powerlifter residing in the United States I have been to numerous competitions and have had the opportunity to meet many others who belong to the same demographic. Therefore, I can testify that my goal is similar to that of the entire group. Our fundamental goal is to lift the most weight on the squat, bench press, deadlift, and the combined total of these three lifts. In order to reach that goal we utilize many forms of technology. I have categorized these forms of technology into three sections: technology within equipment, technology for safety, and technology for information/improvement. Though there are other forms of technology utilized, these categories cover the majority of technology we commonly employ. Ultimately, the technology we use makes it easier for female powerlifters, like myself, who compete in the United States to reach our goal of lifting the most amount of weight on our three lifts because it allows us to lift without being limited by the amount of weight equipment can hold, without injury, and with information necessary for improvement. Let us begin our discussion on how technology is employed in a powerlifter s day to day activities by looking at the technology within the equipment category. • 23. Short Bowel Syndrome Case Study Short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a heterogeneous, malabsorptive disorder that occurs after an extensive small bowel resection surgery (2). Conditions of the small bowel which may warrant this type of surgery include Crohn s disease, post radiation enteritis, ischemia/other vascular issues of the bowel, malignancy, trauma, tumors, and complications from previous abdominal or gastric bypass surgery (1, 2). Once the bowel has been resected, the normal processes involved in absorption of nutrients, electrolytes, and fluids are altered (1). Three distinct bowel resections are known to result in SBS: jejuno ileal anastomosis, jejuno colic anastomosis, and end jejunostomy (3). In To the Lighthouse, we find Woolf s presentation of a family which is at war with itself, while surrounded by war in the world. In this paper, I would attempt a psychoanalytic reading of the text, based on Freud s views. The paper would focus on the relationship between Mr Ramsey and his son, James, from the perspective of the Oedipus Complex. James would also be looked at separately to bring out his character from Freudian theory of the stages of the development of the boy from boyhood to adulthood. According to Freud, every male child, before the puberty stage, that is, in the third stage, which he calls the Phallic Stage , has got affectionate feelings for his mother, and seeing the father in possession of the mother, develops a feeling of bitterness towards his father. The little ego of the boy makes him see his father as a stronger force, which is there where it wants to be beside the mother. In Freud s words, A single idea of general value dawned on me. I have found, in my own case too, [the phenomenon of] being in love with my mother and jealous of my father, and now I consider it a universal event in early childhood, even if not so early in children who have been made hysterical....If this is so, we can understand the gripping power of Oedipus Rex, in spite of all the objections that reason raises against the presupposition of fate; and we can understand why the later drama of fate was bound to fail so miserably (Masson 271 272). • 25. Jack’s Transformation in Jack and the Beanstalk Essay Jack and the Beanstalk Jack s Transformation Jack and the Beanstalk is an example of a Buildungsroman. As the tale progresses, Jack evolves from an immature person into a mature, self assertive person. While minor differences exist in various versions of the tale, such as those between Joseph Jacobs and Horace Elisha Scudder s versions, the tale can always be read as Jack s quest for maturity. Some critics, however, analyze the tale as one in which Jack remains spoiled and immature. While they make points which support their claims, careful analysis of the tale will reveal that Jack s struggle to grow up and to achieve maturity is representative of the difficult process of adolescent (especially male) maturation and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A closer reading, though, reveals why entering into the Giant s land and stealing the Giant s treasures is significant to the progress of Jack s maturity. Jack does indeed begin as an immature, spoiled child. In Scudder s version, which is a moral version containing a fairy who justifies Jack s decision to steal the Giant s treasures, Jack s mother blames him for making her a beggar (23). In Jacobs version, which is a traditional version without the fairy, Jack s inability to get a job shows his immaturity. As Martha Wolfenstein states, Jack is spoiled or lazy or cannot hold a job or . . . has carelessly exhausted the family substance (243). When the cow, Milky white, stops giving milk, Jack s mother sends him to the marketplace to sell the cow for money (Jacobs 59). This venture is a very important first step in Jack s road to maturity, though it may not seem so at the time. This is the first time that we know of Jack s mother ever sending him to the market. According to Bruno Bettelheim, this first encounter with the world represents the end of infancy for Jack. As Bettelheim reminds us, Jack s mother demands that he learn to make do with what the outside world can offer (188). Now that Jack can no longer expect his mother to do everything for him, he realizes that he must take steps toward maturity. As Bettelheim says, The child then has to begin the long and difficult ... Very rarely do I get affected by books, and the Story of Anne Frank is one of them. This poor Jewish girl, has to hide away with seven other people, three of them being her actual family members. Mrs Vandaan was one of the many people living in that annex. In some way shape or form I connected with this character on an emotional level. She showed me that there is more to life than buying the most expensive clothing, and how to care for people. Just as she cared for her husband and son. When Anne dropped milk on her fur coat, it showed me that I should forgive, even if it seems like it could never be forgiven. Even if it was a coat from my father. Anne s life became the opposite of a normal kids life, when she had to go into hiding. This I find cruel and unfair, she should be able to go play outside and hang out with friends. Is He non existent, as the pagan statement, It s Chance alone that moves and rules our lives implies (Neiman 442). Or is God only partially in control of situations, as Harold Kushner concludes, writing, there are some things God does not control (462). He expresses his anger toward God (10:8), feels separated from God (13:24), and demands an answer form God (10:2). However, the reader can observe Job s struggle with his righteousness. He claims his innocence and even presents to God specific deeds he has done throughout his life (29:1 25). But then he constantly comes back to the same question: But how can a man be just before God? (9:2). This profound question is crucial to our understanding of our relationship to God and our acceptance of His will. As good as Job is, when he sees himself in the light of God s perfection, he realizes that he is just as wretched as the next guy. God owes him nothing. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes how an audience sees certain things. This is especially important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. • 33. Sociological Theories On Crime Sociological theories on crime, whether they are macro or micro, look at external factors in determining causative reasons for criminal conduct (Bohm Vogel, 2011). This process is very different from biological and psychological crime theories, which focus on internal characteristics of a person (Bohm Vogel, 2011). Macrosociological theory accounts for the overall big picture of a society taking into account the physical structure of an area and how it is laid out. This information is used to theorize if they have an influence on criminal activity for that particular location or neighborhood (Bohm Vogel, 2011). Microsociological theories focus in on a more concentrated view of individual s external interactions with each other or specific programs such as church or school (Bohm Vogel, 2011). These theories try to explain if these interactions foster a criminal environment or cause the opposite (Bohm Vogel, 2011). Macrosociological theory accounts for a large area of societal processes (Boundless, n.d.). Macro theory has been practiced since the original studies of Emile Durkheim (Boundless, n.d.). It has also been the most popular choice in sociology crime studies (Boundless, n.d.). Part of the reason for this is because historical evidence shows that early studies of Macro theories, which investigate the entire society makeup, focused on the following three topics. First, sociologists would determine what kept the bonds of a society united (Boundless, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Virtues Of Happiness Moral Ethics Virtues of Happiness Moral Ethics An individual s virtue ethics does not depend on the society that they live in, the spirituality that they follow, or their culture/upbringing; but they depend exclusively on the individuals themselves. Aristotle introduced moral ethics theory in his Nicomachean Ethics books. The idea of ethics is questioning long term goals, what sort of person do I want to be instead of instantaneous decisions that question what should I do in this situation? Virtues are not so much to do with right or wrong but rather where that decision is coming from. What is in the heart of the person that answers/acts is what matters in the virtuous world. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do, virtue ethics asks how you can be a better person. According to Aristotle this pursuit of constantly trying to improve one s self to be a better person is what true happiness is in life, as he underlines in his own definition of happiness: happiness is a certain activity of the soul in conformity with perfect virtue. (1) (Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics Book 1). As it is with all things, the more you practice something, the better you will be at it. Virtues are not born into us, so the same principle of habits applies to our development of a virtuous life or to a person s behavior throughout their lives. The more you develop the habit of acting virtuous, the closer you will become to achieving a virtuous life. This is a lifelong commitment as a person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
