Vision, Truth, and Genre in the Merchant s Tale Essays
Vision, Truth, and Genre in the Merchant s Tale
In the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which gives
them greater powers of perception but also causes their expulsion from Paradise. The story creates a
link between clear vision and the ability to perceive the truth‹which, in this case, causes mankind to
fall from a state of blissful ignorance to one of miserable knowledge. In the Merchant s Tale, vision
and truth do not enjoy such an easy relationship. Vision is obstructed at both the metaphorical and the
literal level, and the subversion of the fabliau genre challenges the idea of truthful representation. The
Merchant s Tale destabilizes the notion of representation itself, ... Show more content on

For modern readers, it is perhaps impossible to read this description without being reminded of video
surveillance. By this point in the story, Chaucer had made the reader aware that the fabliau form will
not be strictly followed: in addition to taking upper class people as characters and situating itself in a
vice ridden city (Pearsall 4/12), the tale deals with images‹like this mirror‹that are much more
unsettling than standard fabliau fare. This destabilization of genre seems to call representation itself
into question; the reader is not allowed the comfort of being firmly situated in a genre, and instead is
made aware of Chaucer s play with storytelling s conventions. Such awareness of storytelling s
malleability should naturally make the reader more wary of any truth that might present itself.
The mirror itself challenges the link between representation and truth‹the images January sees are
reconstructions/reflections, rather than the women themselves. Furthermore, the mirror is not even
real. It is the poet s metaphor, itself another kind of reconstruction, and so the reader becomes twice
removed from these women who are being represented. January bases his non visual assessment of
these women not on direct interaction but on hearsay; it is their reputation among the people that
determines what he thinks of their characters (ll. 1591 2). The mirror becomes a metaphorical space in
which January can appraise

Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus
The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon and
Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths.
Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful
disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The main
characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic and
guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a literary
element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given to them
from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with Epaphus.
He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he tells to
impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus. Afterwards, Epaphus
says this is a lie, followed by Phaethon backing up his rash statement and trying to impress his friend
even more by saying, He would let me drive the sun chariot alone. . This conflict sets the scene for
Phaethon, rash and prideful, to go and try to ride the sun chariot.. This scene is foreshadowing the
consequence of his rash decision of trying to prove himself to his friend. Similarly, conflict in
Daedalus and Icarus is shown when Daedalus is explaining to him the directions of which he is to fly,

Regulating What We Eat
Should the Government be Regulating What We Eat? More than 160,000 deaths are associated with
obesity each year. People from other countries imagine a country overrun by obese and overweight
people when they think of America. The thing is, those make up only .05% of America s population.
Therefore, the government should not be regulating what we eat, like unhealthy food and junk food.
We ourselves should be able to pick whatever we want to eat. We ourselves know the consequences of
eating unhealthy foods and junk foods and that individuals carry the most responsibility for weight
issues and obesity as it says in a recent poll. Almost 90% of people believe that this is true according
to a recent poll. Some states such as New York have gone as far as to ban certain junk foods and
unhealthy foods. New York s mayor Michael Bloomburg has made it his personal agenda to make
constituents healthier, with a ban on artificial trans fats in restaurant ... Show more content on

If the government were to regulate what we eat, the United States deaths associated would decrease
massively. Other countries in the world have already regulated what the citizens in their countries eat.
Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Switzerland [already] essentially banned trans fat from people s diets
(Source 1, Paragraph 3) , this has resulted to more than a 40% decrease in deaths due to ischemic heart
disease. Yet again, this death rate is only a little tiny bit of the world s population. Less than .05% of
the world s population is dying due to obesity. Plus, people would not enjoy this food that they are
being forced to eat. On top of that, a lot of these people are diagnosed so they are aware of their
overweight problem. People with obesity and overweight problems would do more to prevent it is the
government was regulating it should be their choice whether they want to do something about their

Informative Speech On Racism
Racism is like an epidemic in that it is spread by communities and affects thousands of lives every
day. It is shown through speech and actions from the age range of children to elders. When in effect,
racism can become violent and flip lives upside down. Fast forward past all the civil rights movements
and efforts to halt racism, and today s society still has an abundance of racism. Eradicating racism all
together has been the goal since the beginning of time, but I believe to make people aware of actual
damage it causes is the best way to advocate how wrong this discrimination is. One of the most
impactful program I have seen to spread awareness of racism is the television hit series titled Switched
at Birth . During the specific episode, a select group of white students placed cotton balls throughout
the lawn of the Black Student Union. Since these said students were white and rich, they got away
with it. This lack of punishment from authority for such a horrendous act created an uprising within
the Union. Not only did they peacefully protest, but one member went on a hunger strike to gain
attention. The school refused to partake in the expulsion of the students and requests of equality from
the union, so the one member continued her hunger strike. Soon after this refusal of acknowledgment,
the said member was sent to the hospital as she had passed out and almost lost her life. Even after this
event, the school wanted to ignore her actions and keep the students.

Masculinity In In Bad Neighbours
Media, especially Hollywood Film, has been one of the foremost vehicles for the perpetuation of
masculine hegemony, not only in the West, but the world over. Much of our behavioural cues are taken
from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central in
attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree these
desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via the
screen. The concept of what is masculine is not cut and dried, but Hollywood has had a way of
portraying a clear hegemonically ideal man he is suave, intelligent, usually wealthy (or at least highly
agentic by other means such as sheer force of presence); he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Breast Feeding Vs. The Bottle
Breast feeding vs. The Bottle: The Decision is yours Some mothers have to give up breastfeeding even
though they want to breastfeed. To give up breastfeeding can be a sensitive issue in a time when
breastfeeding is promoted as the healthiest for mother and child (Larsen Kronborg, 2013, p. 848). The
debate over whether breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or vice versa has been a debate for
many years. With more and more research that is continuously being developed, the option to breast
feed or bottle feed is ultimately up to the parents of the child. Although the decision could be based on
factors such as a physical incapability or financial burdens, the end result should always be what is
going to be best for the baby. As research continues to grow, there has been proven evidence of the
positive and negative aspects that come with breast feeding and bottle feeding.
The Benefits of Breast Feeding Starting from infancy, parents have the right to make the decisions in
their new child s life, which includes breast feeding their child. Infant nutrition is important in
development and health throughout life (Klag, McNamara, Geraghty, Keim, 2015, p. 1059) Although
the process has been known to bring some complications and many attempts, the end result has been
proven to be beneficial to not only the infant during that time but can be tracked in their life down the
line. The decision to breast feed is a decision that will not only impact the child, but can also

Hansel Schmitt, Hedwig Schmitt, Hedwig Robinson, and that hooker on the street with nice hair; all
are what we now call: Hedwig. All of these names and incarnations of this being imply a twisted and
interesting story. It is a story written, directed, and performed by John Cameron Mitchell. Hedwig and
the Inch is a rock musical that came into being through a very odd process. John Cameron Mitchel and
a friend of his, Stephen Trask, came together and created a band that in and of itself would be a
performance art piece. The duo wrote dialogue, music, and spoken word poetry under the guise of this

Seum Bilirubin
Normal liver functions are characterized by balanced activities of the enzymes AST, ALT, and ALP
(used as serum marker enzymes), which are found in high concentrations in the cytoplasm of liver
cells. In hepatic injury, the lysosomal instability due to CCl4 leads to leakage of these marker enzymes
into the blood stream, (Celik, et al., 2009). Serum bilirubin is one of the most sensitive tests employed
in the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. It provides useful information about how well the liver is
functioning. Bilirubin, a chemical breakdown product of hemoglobin, is conjugated with glucuronic
acid in hepatocytes to increase its water solubility. Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia may be the result
of mass inhibition of the conjugation reaction, and consequent release of bilirubin itself from damaged
hepatocytes, (Saravanan, et al., 2006).

This free radical, which is initially formed as relatively unreactive, reacts very rapidly with oxygen to
yield a highly reactive trichloromethyl peroxy radical (CCl3OO). Both radicals are capable of binding

Lipid peroxidation may cause peroxidative tissue damage in inflammation, cancer, aging, ulcer,
cirrhosis, and atherosclerosis. Therefore, inhibition of the cytochrome P450 dependent oxygenase
activity could cause a reduction in the level of toxic reactive metabolites and a decrease in tissue
injury. On the other hand, an elevation of plasma AST and ALT activities could be regarded as a sign
of damage to the liver cell

Race, Incarceration, And American Values Essay
A Summary of Race, Incarceration, and American Values
The book Race, Incarceration, and American Values describes mass incarceration as essentially a
legalized form of genocide that is slowly destroying the fiber of African American families and
communities. It provides explanations for the origin of mass incarceration as well as the reasons for
the disproportionate level of African Americans in the prison system. Glenn Loury, along with Pamela
Karian, Tommie Shelby, and Loic Wacquant discuss how America has let fear and greed cause an
inequitable landscape for citizens who have the misfortune of being born the wrong color and of the
wrong social economic class. The principals of equality and freedom on which America was founded
has become nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Maybe the pride America displays to the World as
a Global power incapable of wrong doing is what is holding it back from recognizing the mistakes it
made and undergoing to process of change. Or, maybe it is what we fear most. It is what we know in
our heads and hearts; but never dared to say. That it is a careful crafted system to keep those with
power in power!
Glenn Loury explains why incarceration became so popular and how it affects the African American
community more than all others. The early 1990s was dubbed the age of crime, fueled by drive by
shootings, drug deals gone bad, crack cocaine, and gangster rap. Crime became the new social hot
button issue. A study from 1960 to 1990 of New Haven, a

Relational Dialectical Theoretical Analysis
Relational Dialectical Theory view the tension and opposing forces within the relationship as the
matter of nature rather than nurture. Leslie Baxter claimed the tension as a inseparable part of
developing relationship, every relationship requires tension and the proper management of through on
ongoing process of communication rather than solved in single episode of communication. (Morgan
Olsen, 2012, p. 136) According to Baxter, every relationship includes opposing forces, contradiction
generally referring to the dynamic tension between opposing forces. (Pawlowski,1998, p. 397; Baxter,
1988) The idea of tension comes from the human desire to seek for the needs and develop further

Common responses are selection, separation, neutralization, and reframing. Selection bases on the
choice, only one of the needs get completely satisfied, and the complementary need gets totally ruled

relationship, creating dialectical moment . (Baxter, 1994) Dialectical moment can happen in different
ways, dominance may be an arranged agreement between the individuals in the relationship, or a
submissiveness of one partner. (Pawlowski,1998, p.

Comparing the Dystopian Society in Brave New World and...
The meaning of happiness is a vague concept. Mankind has always tried to achieve this state of well
being even though there isn t a clear definition. Brave New World tells the story of a society where
there is nothing but happiness, just like a utopia, but it is considered a dystopian setting by the modern
society. In modern society, there is a simple road that most people follow to achieve happiness:
earning enough money for education, getting a university degree, a prestigious and high paying job,
and a stable marriage. To some, the road is mostly about a circle of finding ways to earn and spend
money. It seems like a bleak lifestyle when looked at from a different perspective. From a modern

Singing Commercials are a recent invention. (26). He also talks about how commercials try to seduce
children: In Europe, conscripts used to be playfully referred to as cannon fodder. Their little brothers
and sisters have now become radio fodder and television fodder. In my childhood we were taught to
sing nursery rhymes and, in pious households, hymns. Today the little ones warble the Singing
Commercials. (27). Commercials that seduce children are many, but not all of them are aimed at
children. For example, in some of the Coca Cola commercials that are shown in warm climates, there
is a hot weather and a person who is discomfortable with the heat is shown drinking a cold bottle of
Coca Cola. Then the camera zooms in and shows how Coca Cola not only quenched their thirst, but
also freshened them up. Here, the aim is associating hot weather with Coca Cola. If people think about
drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola in a hot Summer day, then the commercial has achieved success.
Another method to create happiness is soma, a drug that works like an extremely effective anti
depressant. It creates an illusion of happiness, and it is one of the many reasons why BNW is
considered a dystopia. However, the modern society is not so much different. Dr. Brian Kaplan, A
medical doctor, had this to say about the increasing

oriented, they are a hodgepodge similar to that of our nation s culture, and the platypus is honorable

Personal Question
Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have asked
myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my
Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the
answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an
automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To
my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a
specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection,
I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came
with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its
sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep for under five thousand dollars was
astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity presented to me. When my father and I

Juxtaposition In Brave New World
Brave New World is a dystopian novel, written by Aldous Huxley, that shows the difference in a world
similar to the 21st century, and a new world with many changes. There are major differences in the
two, and the similarities are little to none. Huxley s novel uses setting and juxtaposition to help
explain how the civilized and savage reservation differ.
The setting in Brave New World is shown through the savage reservation, which is in New Mexico,
and the civilized world of London. John is a main character that originally lives in the savage
reservation, and Bernard lives in the civilized world. When Bernard takes a trip to New Mexico, the
reader is given visual imagery of the reservation, and can see the major differences from ... Show

The reader can see a good example of the differences when John goes to the civilized world. He is
used to talk of God, being shy around girls, and no drugs. However, the civilized world is full of sex,
drugs, and there is no talk of religion. The differences make the novel easier to understand. The savage
reservation represents the past and freedom. The civilized world represents the future and control. The
people of London are care free because they are told what to do and what to believe. The way they
live their lives seems normal to them because they never knew any different. When John goes to the
new world, two worlds collide, and it is not a good result. John has too much knowledge of God,
Shakespeare, and knows nothing about sex. The ideology of the societies are completely different as
well. The savage reservation believes that religion gets people to be happy, and emotions are a good
thing to have. The new world believes that the less people know, the better off they are, and they will
be happier. The differences in these societies make the reader understand that there should be a

REACTION PAPER on GOD IS DEAD
The lines, God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him, can be true in literal sense.
Subjectively, the lines presented are very agnostic and atheistic. Those are against my will and belief
as a Roman Catholic faithful. The three shorter mentioned lines are three important points to be
clarified about.
The first line says, God is dead is true in literal sense. In the Scriptures, it written that Jesus became
man and so he died as a human. Yes, I believe that God really died. He was crucified by the high
priests and the people s demand and at the order of the governor, Pontius Pilate. Jesus died humbly at

Learning what is real is a step by step process; as learning occurs in stages. With each step, we
become wiser and so, we gain full wisdom which is useful for our decision making and daily
struggles.
Plato s point of making just leaders who can lead his men justly is an important proposition for a
better government. This is very ideal, however, the sad reality today is that not all leaders are blessed
with the virtue of justice, fairness and sincerity. Maybe these leaders haven t acquired full wisdom yet.
They failed to achieve the highest stage for they are too preoccupied with misconceptions, false
realities or maybe they are blinded with injustices and self interests.
Life is a copy of a copy of reality. It is idealistic to view that everything we conceive can be false or
real but somehow, as time advances, the truth will soon be within reach. Human beings should know
how to use this truth to their society.

The Art Of Racing In The Rain Rhetorical Analysis
The Art of Racing in the Tears
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel written in the point of view of an intelligent dog named Enzo.
The unique point of view of this novel is what makes it so entertaining and easy to read. Specific
scenes that show how Enzo transcends scenes include the zebra scene. Another is when Enzo kills the
squirrel. The last is Enzo s dying scene. In the Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein manipulates his
style by writing through the unusual point of view of a dog named Enzo, which transcends an ordinary
scene into an extraordinary scene, by using specific syntax, diction, and the unique point of view of
Enzo.
As Enzo was left to starve and hallucinate he encountered the evil zebra.
The now living zebra said nothing to me at all, but when it saw me it began to dance, a twisting, jerky
ballet which, culminated with the zebra repeatedly thrusting its gelded groin into the face of an
innocent Barbie doll. That made me quite angry, and I growled at the molester zebra, but it simply
smiled and continue its assault, this time picking on a stuffed frog, which it mounted from behind and
rode bareback it s hoof in the air like a bronco rider, yelling out
Yee haw! Yee haw! (53).
In this passage Enzo witnesses a horrific sight, but if told by through a different point of view, the
scene would seem very different. In reality Enzo was seeing illusions but what was really happening
was Enzo tearing up a little girl s stuffed animal. Because this scene was told through the point of
view of Enzo the scene really enticed the reader and pulled in their attention. Stein used word choice
such as molester zebra and gelded groin to simulate a nightmarish scene. Stein also writes his
sentences in a way that makes the audience read in a rapid yet fearful way by using syntax. Examples
of this are the excessive use of commas and short/easy pronounceable words. The now living zebra
said nothing to me at all....into the face of an innocent Barbie doll . Because of Enzo s genuine fear
and anxiety, this scene is transformed into an exciting, fearful scene because it is told through the
point of view of Enzo.
Another scene where the perspective Enzo provides changes a scene is when he kills the

Principles Of Integrity In Public Administration
There are three ethical principles that are the most important for officials to excel in the field of public
administration. These principles are ranked below from 1 being the most important to 3 being
important. Demonstrate personal integrity (1) There has not been much discussion about the code of
ethics in the past administrations than in Trump Administration. Personal integrity is an asset in today
s time where the political chaos runs the White House and where a hullabaloo takes place every week.
The atmosphere of chaos prevails in the government and society, which causes disruptive governance
to run in every level. In this presidency, there is a sense of aristocracy where the privileged class has
taken over the voice of the people and only depends on those members of Congress who adhere to
integrity to do what is right for the least privilege. Upbringing integrity to the best of one character
brings out courage to overcome obstacles. It is not a secret that if officials who hold high positions and
stand by their own decisions always fear repercussions, but with this administration, they fear
dismissal. For example, the attorney general Saly Yates, who was fired after she defied the president s
executive order banning people from seven Muslim majority countries entering the U.S. (Newsweek,
2017). She decided to stand by her position and she was punished for demonstrating integrity on an
issue that deserves more evaluation for policy implementation. Demonstrating

Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff
Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself flashes
before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember, sometimes
we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world. This is what
Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the internal journey
of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into the memories of
Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack of sympathy. The
story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line and all the patrons
become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers cuff the security guard and
begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many sarcastic and critical comments, and
as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the head with a pistol. The entire second part
of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders experiences as the bullet travels through his brain.
The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he
does not think about or remember any of those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the
narrator ends the story with Anders recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends
were playing baseball, and tells how a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused.

Domestic Problems Of African Americans
Abstract Living in the Southern parts of the United States since the end of the Civil War was not easy
for people of color especially African Americans. Because of a great deal of economic uncertainty, it
was gravely difficult to attain financial security as well as be treated as an equal instead of a piece a
property which had been the case for over three hundred years. Nearly one fourth of all white
Southerners owned slaves, and upon the backs of these slaves, the economic basis of America and
much of the Atlantic world was constructed. In the several cotton states, one third of all white income
was derived from slavery. By the end of the Civil War and the abolishment of slavery, White
Americans began isolating the ex slaves. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New political, social, and economic systems emerged that transformed the South from a rural, slave
based society, to an increasingly urban, industrialized, free labor society. The changes to the social,
political, and economic landscape of the South prompted an unprecedented era of racial violence
throughout the region (Jett, p.40). The Southern states deemed slavery was crucial to safeguard white
superiority. Most Southern whites who had aspirations of becoming a very prominent slave owner,
were terrified of a society with considerable numbers of African Americans who were not slaves.
Segregation moved by way of public accommodations, all the way through the South. DeFina Hannon
(2011) and others showed daily interactions of whites and blacks in the South, during reconstruction
of the south identified racial prejudices were increasing steadily, after the Civil War and especially
during the 1880 s. Town after town across the south flatly banned African Americans within their city
limits after dark. Legal, political, social and demographic changes in the south made lynching
dysfunctional as a source of control. Among other more delicate control mechanisms, modern housing
segregation helped serve as a replacement to brutal racial oppression or even death. Jim Crow Laws
The term Jim Crow laws were created from a character during the mid nineteenth century. The white
performers smeared a black cream their faces and mimicked

Emmett Till Reflection
1. The whole story and trial of Emmett Till was probably one of the most saddest stories I have heard
about. What surprised me most is the reason why they killed Emmett. This just showed how much
blacks were looked down upon. Nowadays, women get whistled at all the time by all different types of
men. This is just a rude gesture to whistle at a women, however we wouldn t brutally murder them.
What also surprised me was how they killed him. The murderers did not have to savagely kill him.
This changed my view on history and actually opened my eyes. I think we need to be better educated
on the subject that everybody tries to ignore.
2. During the trial, businesses put out jars to collect money for the defense of the two murderers. This
shows that everyone was on the murderers side. The community views the white race as the superior
race, and that is why the murderers were not guilty. Society then, was not a time that we should be
proud of. Those murderers should have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I could interview those children now when they are around 60, I would ask why did they do that?
Pretending to shoot someone and laugh, what did that symbolize and what did that mean to them? I
would also ask how they viewed race growing up. What was race to them? I would also ask what if it
was the year 2015, would they still do that as kids? I would expect them to be surprised about the first
question. As children, we do not understand what we are doing, but we should know right from wrong
and laughing at someone, pretending to kill them is unacceptable. I would expect them to answer what
it meant to do that and I think they would explain that they were only kids and that it was a different
time and society in 1955. I would expect them to answer how they felt about race growing with
obviously saying that the colored people were looked down on. If they were to do that now in 2015,
they probably would not do that in the first place, it is a completely different time period and everyone

Crime Against Humanity In Rwanda
Nations should respond to crimes against humanity as a harsh crime. When a villain like person robs a
bank of does an illegal act the justice system always acts immediately and gives them the appropriate
punishment. But lots of times people within a nation get away with doing multiple hate crimes and
Crimes Against Humanity and nobody does anything, they just sit ideally by. One example of a Crime
Against Humanity is the crisis that happened in Rwanda with the Tutsis and the Thnus. Another
example of a Crime Against Humanity is what happened in Nanking during the second World War.
One more example is the Holocaust in Germany also during the second World War. These acts and
more are great examples of Crimes Against Humanity that went unrecognized and Nations that did not
have a proper punishment for their crimes. The crisis in Rwanda is still going on today and still not
getting enough recolonization. There are multiple problems with the government in Rwanda. There is
various types of killing massacres and tortures going on to all of the black africans of that country.
They are getting highly discriminated and pushed out of there country. Hate crimes are happening
every day, Thnus are burning people s house and villages leaving them the Rwandan people to either
die or be homeless. While all of this is going on there is not enough action being taken, the

The Pros And Cons Of Stem Cells
INTRODUCTION
All organisms depend on stem cells for their survival. Accordingly, stem cells may be a requirement
for the evolution of specific characteristics in organisms that include regeneration, multicellularity and
coloniality (Chakraborty and Agoramoorthy, 2012). Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are found
in the body which have the ability to continuously divide, self renew and differentiate into various
kinds of cells. The production of an engineered tissue in vitro requires the use of cells to populate
matrices and produce matrix resembling that of the native tissue (Howard, 2008). With the capability
of self renewal, pluripotency and differentiation, stem cells were believed to be useful in treating a
wide variety of diseases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stem cell study focusses on stem cells, which got the capacity of regenerating. A stem cell is highly
capable of emerging to other forms of cells like liver, kidney and heart cells. These cells are
circulating and functioning in order to substitute cells that are no longer functioning well. Stem cell
research carries with it sets of advantages and disadvantages that individuals need to be aware of.
Stem cell Pros
Offers a lot of medical benefits in the therapeutic sectors of regenerative medicine and cloning.
Stem cell research paved way for effective treatment discoveries.
Helps researchers know more about the growth of human cells and their development.
In future, stem cell study can permit the scientists to test some of possible medicines and drugs
without carrying out any test on animals and humans.
The stem cell therapy lets scientists study the developmental stages that cannot be known directly
through the human embryo and can be used in the treatment of a number of birth defects, infertility
problems and also pregnancy loss.
Stem cells can reverse effects of aging and lengthening life.
Stem cell therapy sets into use the cells of the patient s own body organs and henceforth the risk of
rejection can be reduced because the cells were belong to the same human body.

Longevity Of Anime Essay

The Longevity of Anime
Anime is a term for Japanese animation. It is a unique, detailed, and popular form of animation. It
tends to dive deeper into the more serious topics as well as creating shows and series that really
capture a broad range of viewers attention. Normally, one would associate cartoons with children and
how they favor them. Not with Japan, however. People of all ages watch and enjoy anime. Most anime
series target younger and teen viewers, but there are some created for the older viewers as well. Anime
has a large abundance of categories such as comedy, romance, action, drama, and even pornography.
Anime had started to flourish shortly after World War II and it has continued to grow significantly
over the years. It continues to evolve and I firmly believe that it will still be relevant in the future due
to its fast paced popularity, common art style in most cartoons nowadays, and its cultural influence.
Artwork for anime is one of the most apparent differences between Japanese graphics and other
countries. Huge eyes, brightly colored hair, well endowed female characters, and exaggerated
emotional expressions and gestures as typical if anime style (Kerr, 2001). Earlier anime designers
were heavily influenced by initial Disney characters such as the Seven Dwarves from Snow White,
Mickey Mouse, and the non Disney but popular creation, Betty Boop who was certainly well
endowed. Anime also tends to have

Living Well In the Life of a Pharmacist
Becoming a pharmacist is a very time consuming process. Students must complete all of the pre
pharmacy requirements, take licensure exams, and finally get into and graduate from an accredited
pharmacy school with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. While that might not sound like a lot, it takes
eight years of hard work. A lot of undergraduates journey into the field with visions of dollar signs
floating in their heads. Then they start taking their pre pharmacy courses and decide that maybe
becoming a pharmacist is not their calling. Many people have told me that hard work and
determination going into a precise goal will get you anywhere you want to go in this world. My
grandfather has told me countless times Don t blame someone else for you ... Show more content on

The scientific portions of the requirement ask students to take sixteen credit hours of Chemistry,
which include College Chemistry I and II and Organic Chemistry I and II. Students must also take
eight credit hours of Biology, which include the courses Principles of Biology I, Human Anatomy and
Physiology I, and finally Human Anatomy and Physiology II. Undergraduates also are required to take
English, Literature, History, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Social Science, Statistics, and Physics (Smith). If
you appreciate math and science, then pharmacy might be an option one might contemplate. However,
that is a lot of work in only two years! When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Everyone I
have talked to about college says that the first two years are the hardest, they did not lie! After all of
the pre requisites for pharmacy school have been met, it is time to take the dreaded PCAT. PCAT
stands for Pharmacy College Admission Test. It is a standardized test administered to prospective
pharmacy school students (Pearson). The best I have heard it described is an enormous version of the
ACT. There are seven sections to be taken in about four and a half hours. The sections include Verbal
Ability, Quantitative Ability, Biology, Chemistry, Reading Comprehension and two writing sections
(Pearson). The writing sections should be the easiest because of the superb training I am now
receiving by my instructor. Many students are spectacle about

The Writer s Duty Of William Faulkner s Nobel Prize...
Addie Champlin
English II AP
Dr. Payne
September 9 2016
The Writer s Duty In William Faulkner s Nobel Prize acceptance speech, he speaks about the true
purpose of writing and the importance of genuinely putting your heart into your work. He discusses
how the only way writing can truly be valuable is if the author is dedicated to showing the authentic
love the human spirit holds and what that love is capable of accomplishing. A good piece of writing
will show both strength and vulnerability and will not be written for fame or recognition. It will be
written for the sake of creating and spreading a message that is important to the author. In their
memoirs, An American Childhood and The Road from Coorain, Annie Dillard and Jill Ker Conway,
both feel very strongly about their purpose for writing. Conway tends to express her reasons for
writing explicitly, while Dillard chooses to do it more implicitly.
In An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, she clearly demonstrates the meaning of the novel in one
passage that reads, Children wake up and find themselves here, discover themselves to have been here
all along; is this sad? They wake like sleepwalkers, in full stride; they wake like people brought back
from cardiac arrest or from drowning: in medias res, surrounded by familiar people and objects,
equipped with a hundred skills. They know the neighborhood, they can read and write English, they
are old hands at the commonplace mysteries, and yet they feel themselves to have just

  • 2. Vision, Truth, and Genre in the Merchant s Tale Essays Vision, Truth, and Genre in the Merchant s Tale In the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which gives them greater powers of perception but also causes their expulsion from Paradise. The story creates a link between clear vision and the ability to perceive the truth‹which, in this case, causes mankind to fall from a state of blissful ignorance to one of miserable knowledge. In the Merchant s Tale, vision and truth do not enjoy such an easy relationship. Vision is obstructed at both the metaphorical and the literal level, and the subversion of the fabliau genre challenges the idea of truthful representation. The Merchant s Tale destabilizes the notion of representation itself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For modern readers, it is perhaps impossible to read this description without being reminded of video surveillance. By this point in the story, Chaucer had made the reader aware that the fabliau form will not be strictly followed: in addition to taking upper class people as characters and situating itself in a vice ridden city (Pearsall 4/12), the tale deals with images‹like this mirror‹that are much more unsettling than standard fabliau fare. This destabilization of genre seems to call representation itself into question; the reader is not allowed the comfort of being firmly situated in a genre, and instead is made aware of Chaucer s play with storytelling s conventions. Such awareness of storytelling s malleability should naturally make the reader more wary of any truth that might present itself. The mirror itself challenges the link between representation and truth‹the images January sees are reconstructions/reflections, rather than the women themselves. Furthermore, the mirror is not even real. It is the poet s metaphor, itself another kind of reconstruction, and so the reader becomes twice removed from these women who are being represented. January bases his non visual assessment of these women not on direct interaction but on hearsay; it is their reputation among the people that determines what he thinks of their characters (ll. 1591 2). The mirror becomes a metaphorical space in which January can appraise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon and Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths. Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The main characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic and guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a literary element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given to them from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with Epaphus. He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he tells to impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus. Afterwards, Epaphus says this is a lie, followed by Phaethon backing up his rash statement and trying to impress his friend even more by saying, He would let me drive the sun chariot alone. . This conflict sets the scene for Phaethon, rash and prideful, to go and try to ride the sun chariot.. This scene is foreshadowing the consequence of his rash decision of trying to prove himself to his friend. Similarly, conflict in Daedalus and Icarus is shown when Daedalus is explaining to him the directions of which he is to fly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Regulating What We Eat Should the Government be Regulating What We Eat? More than 160,000 deaths are associated with obesity each year. People from other countries imagine a country overrun by obese and overweight people when they think of America. The thing is, those make up only .05% of America s population. Therefore, the government should not be regulating what we eat, like unhealthy food and junk food. We ourselves should be able to pick whatever we want to eat. We ourselves know the consequences of eating unhealthy foods and junk foods and that individuals carry the most responsibility for weight issues and obesity as it says in a recent poll. Almost 90% of people believe that this is true according to a recent poll. Some states such as New York have gone as far as to ban certain junk foods and unhealthy foods. Yet again, this death rate is only a little tiny bit of the world s population. Less than .05% of the world s population is dying due to obesity. Plus, people would not enjoy this food that they are being forced to eat. On top of that, a lot of these people are diagnosed so they are aware of their overweight problem. • 5. Informative Speech On Racism Racism is like an epidemic in that it is spread by communities and affects thousands of lives every day. It is shown through speech and actions from the age range of children to elders. When in effect, racism can become violent and flip lives upside down. Fast forward past all the civil rights movements and efforts to halt racism, and today s society still has an abundance of racism. Eradicating racism all together has been the goal since the beginning of time, but I believe to make people aware of actual damage it causes is the best way to advocate how wrong this discrimination is. One of the most impactful program I have seen to spread awareness of racism is the television hit series titled Switched at Birth . During the specific episode, a select group of white students placed cotton balls throughout the lawn of the Black Student Union. Since these said students were white and rich, they got away with it. This lack of punishment from authority for such a horrendous act created an uprising within the Union. Not only did they peacefully protest, but one member went on a hunger strike to gain attention. The school refused to partake in the expulsion of the students and requests of equality from the union, so the one member continued her hunger strike. Soon after this refusal of acknowledgment, the said member was sent to the hospital as she had passed out and almost lost her life. Even after this event, the school wanted to ignore her actions and keep the students. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Much of our behavioural cues are taken from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central in attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree these desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via the screen. • 7. Breast Feeding Vs. The Bottle Breast feeding vs. The Bottle: The Decision is yours Some mothers have to give up breastfeeding even though they want to breastfeed. To give up breastfeeding can be a sensitive issue in a time when breastfeeding is promoted as the healthiest for mother and child (Larsen Kronborg, 2013, p. 848). The debate over whether breast feeding is better than bottle feeding or vice versa has been a debate for many years. With more and more research that is continuously being developed, the option to breast feed or bottle feed is ultimately up to the parents of the child. Although the decision could be based on factors such as a physical incapability or financial burdens, the end result should always be what is going to be best for the baby. As research continues to grow, there has been proven evidence of the positive and negative aspects that come with breast feeding and bottle feeding. The Benefits of Breast Feeding Starting from infancy, parents have the right to make the decisions in their new child s life, which includes breast feeding their child. Infant nutrition is important in development and health throughout life (Klag, McNamara, Geraghty, Keim, 2015, p. 1059) Although the process has been known to bring some complications and many attempts, the end result has been proven to be beneficial to not only the infant during that time but can be tracked in their life down the line. Hedwig and the Inch is a rock musical that came into being through a very odd process. • 9. Seum Bilirubin Normal liver functions are characterized by balanced activities of the enzymes AST, ALT, and ALP (used as serum marker enzymes), which are found in high concentrations in the cytoplasm of liver cells. In hepatic injury, the lysosomal instability due to CCl4 leads to leakage of these marker enzymes into the blood stream, (Celik, et al., 2009). Serum bilirubin is one of the most sensitive tests employed in the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. It provides useful information about how well the liver is functioning. Bilirubin, a chemical breakdown product of hemoglobin, is conjugated with glucuronic acid in hepatocytes to increase its water solubility. Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia may be the result of mass inhibition of the conjugation reaction, and consequent release of bilirubin itself from damaged hepatocytes, (Saravanan, et al., 2006). Race, Incarceration, And American Values Essay A Summary of Race, Incarceration, and American Values The book Race, Incarceration, and American Values describes mass incarceration as essentially a legalized form of genocide that is slowly destroying the fiber of African American families and communities. It provides explanations for the origin of mass incarceration as well as the reasons for the disproportionate level of African Americans in the prison system. Glenn Loury, along with Pamela Karian, Tommie Shelby, and Loic Wacquant discuss how America has let fear and greed cause an inequitable landscape for citizens who have the misfortune of being born the wrong color and of the wrong social economic class. The principals of equality and freedom on which America was founded has become nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Maybe the pride America displays to the World as a Global power incapable of wrong doing is what is holding it back from recognizing the mistakes it made and undergoing to process of change. Or, maybe it is what we fear most. It is what we know in our heads and hearts; but never dared to say. That it is a careful crafted system to keep those with power in power! Glenn Loury explains why incarceration became so popular and how it affects the African American community more than all others. Mankind has always tried to achieve this state of well being even though there isn t a clear definition. Brave New World tells the story of a society where there is nothing but happiness, just like a utopia, but it is considered a dystopian setting by the modern society. In modern society, there is a simple road that most people follow to achieve happiness: earning enough money for education, getting a university degree, a prestigious and high paying job, and a stable marriage. To some, the road is mostly about a circle of finding ways to earn and spend money. It seems like a bleak lifestyle when looked at from a different perspective. Today the little ones warble the Singing Commercials. (27). Commercials that seduce children are many, but not all of them are aimed at children. For example, in some of the Coca Cola commercials that are shown in warm climates, there is a hot weather and a person who is discomfortable with the heat is shown drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola. Then the camera zooms in and shows how Coca Cola not only quenched their thirst, but also freshened them up. Here, the aim is associating hot weather with Coca Cola. If people think about drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola in a hot Summer day, then the commercial has achieved success. Another method to create happiness is soma, a drug that works like an extremely effective anti depressant. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection, I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its sturdy construction of cast iron. The civilized world represents the future and control. The people of London are care free because they are told what to do and what to believe. The way they live their lives seems normal to them because they never knew any different. When John goes to the new world, two worlds collide, and it is not a good result. John has too much knowledge of God, Shakespeare, and knows nothing about sex. The ideology of the societies are completely different as well. They failed to achieve the highest stage for they are too preoccupied with misconceptions, false realities or maybe they are blinded with injustices and self interests. Life is a copy of a copy of reality. It is idealistic to view that everything we conceive can be false or real but somehow, as time advances, the truth will soon be within reach. Human beings should know how to use this truth to their society. A REACTION on EUTHANASIA Thou shall not kill, is the fifth commandment. It is a sin to kill. We are not given the right to stop the life of an individual no matter what the circumstances are. Euthanasia is also known as mercy killing. It refers to the practice of ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering. It can be voluntary, non voluntary, and involuntary. No matter what the reason is, euthanasia is still a form of killing whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Art Of Racing In The Rain Rhetorical Analysis The Art of Racing in the Tears The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel written in the point of view of an intelligent dog named Enzo. The unique point of view of this novel is what makes it so entertaining and easy to read. Specific scenes that show how Enzo transcends scenes include the zebra scene. Another is when Enzo kills the squirrel. The last is Enzo s dying scene. In the Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein manipulates his style by writing through the unusual point of view of a dog named Enzo, which transcends an ordinary scene into an extraordinary scene, by using specific syntax, diction, and the unique point of view of Enzo. As Enzo was left to starve and hallucinate he encountered the evil zebra. The now living zebra said nothing to me at all, but when it saw me it began to dance, a twisting, jerky ballet which, culminated with the zebra repeatedly thrusting its gelded groin into the face of an innocent Barbie doll. That made me quite angry, and I growled at the molester zebra, but it simply smiled and continue its assault, this time picking on a stuffed frog, which it mounted from behind and rode bareback it s hoof in the air like a bronco rider, yelling out Yee haw! Yee haw! (53). In this passage Enzo witnesses a horrific sight, but if told by through a different point of view, the scene would seem very different. In reality Enzo was seeing illusions but what was really happening was Enzo tearing up a little girl s stuffed animal. Because this scene was told through the point of view of Enzo the scene really enticed the reader and pulled in their attention. Stein used word choice such as molester zebra and gelded groin to simulate a nightmarish scene. Stein also writes his sentences in a way that makes the audience read in a rapid yet fearful way by using syntax. Examples of this are the excessive use of commas and short/easy pronounceable words. The now living zebra said nothing to me at all....into the face of an innocent Barbie doll . Because of Enzo s genuine fear and anxiety, this scene is transformed into an exciting, fearful scene because it is told through the point of view of Enzo. Another scene where the perspective Enzo provides changes a scene is when he kills the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Principles Of Integrity In Public Administration There are three ethical principles that are the most important for officials to excel in the field of public administration. These principles are ranked below from 1 being the most important to 3 being important. Demonstrate personal integrity (1) There has not been much discussion about the code of ethics in the past administrations than in Trump Administration. Personal integrity is an asset in today s time where the political chaos runs the White House and where a hullabaloo takes place every week. The atmosphere of chaos prevails in the government and society, which causes disruptive governance to run in every level. In this presidency, there is a sense of aristocracy where the privileged class has taken over the voice of the people and only depends on those members of Congress who adhere to integrity to do what is right for the least privilege. Upbringing integrity to the best of one character brings out courage to overcome obstacles. It is not a secret that if officials who hold high positions and stand by their own decisions always fear repercussions, but with this administration, they fear dismissal. For example, the attorney general Saly Yates, who was fired after she defied the president s executive order banning people from seven Muslim majority countries entering the U.S. (Newsweek, 2017). She decided to stand by her position and she was punished for demonstrating integrity on an issue that deserves more evaluation for policy implementation. Demonstrating ... • 22. Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself flashes before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember, sometimes we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world. This is what Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the internal journey of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into the memories of Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack of sympathy. The story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line and all the patrons become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers cuff the security guard and begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many sarcastic and critical comments, and as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the head with a pistol. The entire second part of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders experiences as the bullet travels through his brain. The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he does not think about or remember any of those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the narrator ends the story with Anders recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends were playing baseball, and tells how a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused. ... • 23. Domestic Problems Of African Americans Abstract Living in the Southern parts of the United States since the end of the Civil War was not easy for people of color especially African Americans. Because of a great deal of economic uncertainty, it was gravely difficult to attain financial security as well as be treated as an equal instead of a piece a property which had been the case for over three hundred years. Nearly one fourth of all white Southerners owned slaves, and upon the backs of these slaves, the economic basis of America and much of the Atlantic world was constructed. In the several cotton states, one third of all white income was derived from slavery. By the end of the Civil War and the abolishment of slavery, White Americans began isolating the ex slaves. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New political, social, and economic systems emerged that transformed the South from a rural, slave based society, to an increasingly urban, industrialized, free labor society. The changes to the social, political, and economic landscape of the South prompted an unprecedented era of racial violence throughout the region (Jett, p.40). The Southern states deemed slavery was crucial to safeguard white superiority. Most Southern whites who had aspirations of becoming a very prominent slave owner, were terrified of a society with considerable numbers of African Americans who were not slaves. Segregation moved by way of public accommodations, all the way through the South. DeFina Hannon (2011) and others showed daily interactions of whites and blacks in the South, during reconstruction of the south identified racial prejudices were increasing steadily, after the Civil War and especially during the 1880 s. Town after town across the south flatly banned African Americans within their city limits after dark. Legal, political, social and demographic changes in the south made lynching dysfunctional as a source of control. Among other more delicate control mechanisms, modern housing segregation helped serve as a replacement to brutal racial oppression or even death. Jim Crow Laws The term Jim Crow laws were created from a character during the mid nineteenth century. The white performers smeared a black cream their faces and mimicked ... • 24. Emmett Till Reflection 1. The whole story and trial of Emmett Till was probably one of the most saddest stories I have heard about. What surprised me most is the reason why they killed Emmett. This just showed how much blacks were looked down upon. Nowadays, women get whistled at all the time by all different types of men. This is just a rude gesture to whistle at a women, however we wouldn t brutally murder them. What also surprised me was how they killed him. The murderers did not have to savagely kill him. This changed my view on history and actually opened my eyes. I think we need to be better educated on the subject that everybody tries to ignore. 2. During the trial, businesses put out jars to collect money for the defense of the two murderers. This shows that everyone was on the murderers side. The community views the white race as the superior race, and that is why the murderers were not guilty. Society then, was not a time that we should be proud of. Those murderers should have been ... Accordingly, stem cells may be a requirement for the evolution of specific characteristics in organisms that include regeneration, multicellularity and coloniality (Chakraborty and Agoramoorthy, 2012). Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are found in the body which have the ability to continuously divide, self renew and differentiate into various kinds of cells. The production of an engineered tissue in vitro requires the use of cells to populate matrices and produce matrix resembling that of the native tissue (Howard, 2008). • 28. Longevity Of Anime Essay Arielle Butler Teresa Paliwoda ENC1101 November 11, 2017 The Longevity of Anime Anime is a term for Japanese animation. It is a unique, detailed, and popular form of animation. It tends to dive deeper into the more serious topics as well as creating shows and series that really capture a broad range of viewers attention. Normally, one would associate cartoons with children and how they favor them. Not with Japan, however. People of all ages watch and enjoy anime. Most anime series target younger and teen viewers, but there are some created for the older viewers as well. Anime has a large abundance of categories such as comedy, romance, action, drama, and even pornography. Anime had started to flourish shortly after World War II and it has continued to grow significantly over the years. It continues to evolve and I firmly believe that it will still be relevant in the future due to its fast paced popularity, common art style in most cartoons nowadays, and its cultural influence. Artwork for anime is one of the most apparent differences between Japanese graphics and other countries. Huge eyes, brightly colored hair, well endowed female characters, and exaggerated emotional expressions and gestures as typical if anime style (Kerr, 2001). Earlier anime designers were heavily influenced by initial Disney characters such as the Seven Dwarves from Snow White, Mickey Mouse, and the non Disney but popular creation, Betty Boop who was certainly well endowed. Anime also tends to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Writer s Duty Of William Faulkner s Nobel Prize... Addie Champlin English II AP Dr. Payne September 9 2016 The Writer s Duty In William Faulkner s Nobel Prize acceptance speech, he speaks about the true purpose of writing and the importance of genuinely putting your heart into your work. He discusses how the only way writing can truly be valuable is if the author is dedicated to showing the authentic love the human spirit holds and what that love is capable of accomplishing. A good piece of writing will show both strength and vulnerability and will not be written for fame or recognition. It will be written for the sake of creating and spreading a message that is important to the author. In their memoirs, An American Childhood and The Road from Coorain, Annie Dillard and Jill Ker Conway, both feel very strongly about their purpose for writing. Conway tends to express her reasons for writing explicitly, while Dillard chooses to do it more implicitly. In An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, she clearly demonstrates the meaning of the novel in one passage that reads, Children wake up and find themselves here, discover themselves to have been here all along; is this sad? They wake like sleepwalkers, in full stride; they wake like people brought back from cardiac arrest or from drowning: in medias res, surrounded by familiar people and objects, equipped with a hundred skills.
