Persuasive Essay On Turtles
They say you can get seven different kinds of meat from butchering a turtle. Depending on what part
of the turtle you re chewing on, the taste may be reminiscent of pork, or chicken, or veal, or fish, or
whatever ... you get the picture. Perhaps this variability can partly explain why turtle has been such a
popular menu item throughout the history of the United States. At least, it used to be. Not so long ago
you could find Campbell s turtle soup sitting alongside minestrone and tomato in grocery stores
throughout the country. So what happened? How and why did an American staple virtually vanish?
ADVERTISING
It s a question Saveur magazine recently tried to tackle. Now, if you ask me or anyone else who knows
much about turtles and turtle conservation, the answer is quite simple: There are not enough turtles left
to eat. For example, a picture of a few chefs hovering over the carcass of a green sea turtle (Chelonia
mydas) leads off the Saveur article. Today green sea turtles, like all other species of sea turtles, are
federally protected under the Endangered Species Act. If you ate one in the United States, you would
be committing a felony.
Turtles are one of the most imperiled groups of animals on the planet. Habitat loss is probably their
biggest threat; when a wetland is drained, a field paved over, or a nesting beach overrun with
condominiums, there is simply no space left for turtles. But harvesting too many for food has played a
key role in driving down turtle

The Leadership Styles And Behavioral Analysis
Introduction
Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer. Let us not seek
to fix the blame for the past let us accept our own responsibility for the future
John F. Kennedy, 35th US President.
This paper describes about the Leadership styles and Behavioral analysis of former U.S. president
John F. Kennedy.
Elected in 1960 as the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy was the youngest man to
hold that office. He was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph P. Kennedy, a
self made multimillionaire who led the Exchange commission and securities under Franklin D.
Roosevelt and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He parlayed an elite education and a reputation as a military
hero for his successful run into congress in 1946. His entrance into politics surprised his college
mates. He never enjoyed campaigning, but was elected, and won the Senate in 1952. He served in both
the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate before becoming the 35th president in 1961.
After earning his party s nomination for vice president in 1956, he announced his candidacy for
president on January 2, 1960. Kennedy outmaneuvered his main opponent, Hubert Humphrey with
superior organizations and financial resources, Selecting Senate majority leader, Lyndon Johnson of
Texas, as his running mate. He faced Vice President Richard Nixon in the general election. Kennedy
faced difficulties against him. He was benefited from his performance

The Chinese Capitalist Essay
In a New York Times article dated February 20th, 1997, author Patrick E. Tyler writes about a political
wizard who put China on the road to capitalism. The Chinese capitalist (this is not capitalism in a
western sense, but more of a communist/capitalist mix) Revolution is very significant in the study of
world history; especially considering the Maoist form of government it sprang from. Notably, there is
one small statured Chinese leader who this essay will focus on in the context of the revolution: Deng
Xiaoping. Although his slightness of size didn t offer any insight into his grand political stature, an
inquiry into his life certainly does. This essay will provide an informative glimpse into the life and
times of Deng Xiaoping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deng was the youngest, having just turned 15. Deng s father was very supportive of his son s
participation in the program. In fact, the night before he left for France, his father talked with him, and
inquired what he hoped to learn in France. What could motivate such a young Chinese boy to make
such a big move? Deng simply repeated the idea he had learned from his teachers: To learn knowledge
and truth from the West in order to save China. (Stewart). He was attune to China s great suffering,
and that the Chinese people needed a modern education if they hoped to save their country. During the
early part of the program, Deng temporarily attended middle schools in Bayeux and Châtillon,
however he spent the large majority of his time in France working. He first worked as a fitter at the Le
Creusot Iron and Steel Plant in a southwestern suburb of Paris where he eventually moved in April
1921. In La Garenne Colombes (where he lived) Deng met and was influenced by a number of more
mature Chinese intellectuals. While under the influence of these older Chinese students in France,
Deng began to look deeply into Marxist thought. In 1921 he joined the Chinese Communist Youth
League in Europe. Later, in 1924, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. In 1926 Deng traveled to
the Soviet Union and studied at Moscow Sun Yat sen University. As fate would have it, one of his

Ai Weiwei Alcatraz Essay
Trace is currently part of Ai Weiwei s Alcatraz exhibition, @Large displayed in San Fransisco,
California USA. It includes 176 portraits made if legos, laid out flat across the expanse of the floor.
These portraits depict people from all around the world who have been or are imprisoned or exiled
because of their beliefs or affiliations, most of whom were prisoners of conscience and human rights
activists. Weiwei artwork, conceptually created a community of prisoners to large to ignore. This
installation links a crime with a name, a name with a face. It reveals oppressive acts of governments
from all parts of the world and suggests that the true heroes of our societies are those advocating
social reform. In this work, Weiwei is honouring those individuals.
Each piece was built by hand; small, independent parts were assembled to create a vast and complex
whole, reflecting the relationship between the individual and the collective, which is a central dynamic
in all societies, particularly that of contemporary China. Weiwei could not leave China so eighty
volunteers helped assemble the work. Digital blueprints of the works were created and spilt into ...

and unjust treatment, something Weiwei is very familiar with. His artworks have moved away from
purely a method of self expression, rather they are a catalyst for global change. Contemporary art,
from his perspective, requires and sometimes creates, an audience devoted to liberty; presenting his
work in a prison, is evidence of this mindset. Weiwei reminds us to think critically. Although many of
the countries in which the prisoners represented in his works come from are now free nations , we
cannot forget a time when this did not apply; the works are held at a notorious, former jail in America
proves this. In addition to this, the fact that a work about liberty is held in a prison is ironic in

this though I have never liked him. I had not thought so very ill of him (100). Awhile later, Elizabeth
along with her aunt and uncle, mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, decided to tour the home of Mr. Darcy,
Pemberley. Her vision of Mr. Darcy soon changes after this visit. Through the discussion between Mr.
Darcy s housekeeper, Mrs. Reynolds, Elizabeth learns of Mr. Wickham s true nature. She explains He

heartedness, and generosity. Elizabeth had not seen this side of Mr. Darcy until he surprised them at
Pemberley. Elizabeth thought to herself about his behaviour, so strikingly altered what could it mean?
That he should even speak to her was amazing! but to speak with such civility, to inquire after her

The Between Cressida And Troilus And Cressida Essay
PANDARUS [...] Have you any eyes? Do you know what a man is? Is not birth, beauty, good shape,
discourse, manhood, learning, gentleness, virtue, youth, liberality, and so forth the spice and salt that
seasons a man?
CRESSIDAAy, a minced man... (1.2.231 236)
This conversation between Cressida and Pandarus demonstrates the representation of masculinity in
both Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida. Each of them is concerned with ideas of honour and
military prowess in relation to the male identity, drawing on the masculine ideals of Roman antiquity a
prominent notion during the early modern period as is evident in Pandarus notions of what a man is .
Shakespeare does not, however, endorse these notions in the plays; his handling of the subject is
reminiscent more of Cressida s response in this passage, suggesting that the same qualities which
make a man can also effeminize him. This essay will examine how this paradoxical nature of
manhood and its arbitrary relations to honour and women are exposed in the plays.
In the world of Coriolanus, violent and aggressive masculinity is set on a pedestal by the people of
Rome. This is evident in Volumnia s attitude towards raising children applauding wounds Coriolanus
has received in battle and even going as far as saying that
The breasts of Hecuba,
When she did suckle Hector, looked not lovelier
Than Hector s forehead when it spit forth blood
At Grecian sword, contemning. (1.3.37 40)
Intimacy has no place in this violently

(Artz, 2007) Smart Objectives The development of an effective information system will require the
development of specific objectives. These objectives in the interest of achieving good public health
must be strong enough to monitor progress and achieve the required outcomes. Healthcare
organizations that struggle with the creation of objectives find it difficult with those that measure

Political, Economic And Social Changes In The South...
After the Civil War, it became very noticeable that changes in the South like, restoration of the Union,
the transformation of Southern society, and the enactment of revolutionary legislation favoring the
rights of freed slaves, had to be made. Therefore there were many political, economic, and social
reforms introduced in the South between 1864 and 1877, some of which did not survive in the
Compromise of 1877. There were three main phases of Reconstruction under, Abraham Lincoln,
Andrew Johnson and the Radical Republicans. Reconstruction was a time period consisting of many

Radical Republicans disliked the Ten Percent Plan because it enabled Lincoln to determine Union
policy, so in place they put the Wade Davis Bill. The Wade Davis Bill was passed in 1864, and
provided constitutional conventions only after the majority of the others in a southern state had taken a
loyalty oath, this also guaranteed black equality. Lincoln later disposed of the Wade Davis Bill with a
pocket veto, but the matters still stood when Andrew Johnson became president after the assassination.
The Radical Republicans took a on a more vengeful approach to reconstruction, which Andrew
Johnson did not approve of. Andrew Johnson ratified the Thirteenth amendment which, abolished
slavery, and elected senators and representatives in 1865. Southern states resistance to ratifying the
Thirteenth Amendment prevented reforms from working to a larger degree. The Thirteenth
amendment was still ratified after enough other states agreed. After the Thirteenth Amendment was
ratified, Southern states still showed resistance to blacks. The Ku Klux Klan, which originated in
Tennessee in 1866, was created to intimidate blacks with physical and mental force to keep them from

The Age Of Industrialization And Imperialism
Catastrophe stuck in the year 1914 with the assassination of the Austrian archduke Francis Ferdinand.
For the next four years the cataclysm of the First World War followed. Many nations, superior in their
own being, were eager to join the war thinking it would only last for a few months and end by
Christmas. This was a chance for nations to assert their superiority and leadership; however, a harsh
realization was soon to follow. The assassination, meager as it might be compared to the whole war,
triggered the beginning of the war. Many nation states found themselves polarized on the tangled

This nationalist reaction came out of new independence from Austria, Hungary, and the Ottoman
Empire and the newly freed Serbia, from the Ottoman Turks, was the proclaimed leader of a united

nephew to archduke Francis Ferdinand, call for retribution and reprisal against Serbia. Francis Joseph
s military chief of staff expressed concerns for Austria and other European allies in a statement saying
Austria Hungary must draw the sword against Serbia...It is not a question of a knightly duel with poor
little Serbia, as she likes to call herself, not of punishment for the assassination. It is much more the
highly practical importance of the prestige of a Great Power...The Monarchy has been seized by the

Austria, and Italy), Germany and Kaiser Wilhelm begin to back Austria and her interest against Serbia.
Serbia s ally, Russia, is backed by the Triple Entente (Russia, France, and Great Britain). What could

The human brain is amazing. It detects and processes things when people don t even realize it. One of
these things is sound. People hear sounds all the time, whether they are conscious of it or not. They

The particles of the medium do not move permanently from their position (SantoPietro, 2013);
however, the particles adjacent to the object begin to move back and forth too, almost like a guard on
duty pacing back and forth, who, although he moves back and forth, does not move far from the initial
position. As these particles move back and forth, they bump into more particles, and the process
continues for a certain distance, depending on how hard they are vibrating.
This process of transferring the energy is called a sound wave. According to David SantoPietro
(2013), Waves can transport energy through a medium without transporting the medium itself . In
other words, a wave does not transport particles, it transports energy through the particles. Although
many people think of an ocean wave when they think of a wave, which is composed of water particles
and primarily transports energy from wind, waves carry many more types of energy than people
realize sound and light, for examples. In addition, there are two types of waves: electromagnetic and
mechanical. Electromagnetic waves can transport energy through a vacuum (an empty space with no

electromagnetic wave, while sound is a mechanical wave. Then there are three subtypes of waves:

Persuasive Essay On Bicycle Safety
It has been asserted many times by mothers and law enforcement that people should use a bicycle
helmet, but many ignore the tip and increase the danger they face on a bike. Surprisingly in California
only those under 18 must wear a helmet (Coalition), but even adults should wear them as the chance
of injury increases when riding without one. The reasons why those under 18 have to wear a helmet
are reasonable as the organization KidsHealth in the article Bike safety informs people that Every
year, about 300,000 kids go to the emergency department because of bike injuries, and at least 10,000
kids have injuries that require a few days in the hospital. Some of these injuries are so serious that
children die, usually from head injuries . Death is a big reason to cause the law to require kids to wear
helmet, so all cyclists who wish to ride safely should wear a helmet regardless of age. It is such an
important piece of gear that bicycle safety is almost impossible to think of without also thinking about
a bike helmet. As in D. K. Howe s article Bicycle Safety the United States Safety Administration
provides the tip, Wear a properly fitted helmet. It is the single most important piece of safety
equipment you can use .
Now that the importance of following laws and wearing a helmet have been addressed, it is time
bicyclist are aware of keeping a well maintained bike to lower the amount of accidents even more.
Safety is not all about keeping the head secured and knowing what

Irony In Cast Away
The only real change comes from inside. There is nothing in life that will ever change you drastically
unless you let it. Life will only change you if you let it, that s why people walk around like they are
protecting themselves with an imperceptible forcefield of false sangfroid attempting to act like they
have their entire life together. The only way to perceive change is to go through a slow process of self
development. In the movie Cast Away, Tom Hanks does a marvelous job of portraying how isolation
and desperation can have a negative toll on a fragile mind. Cast Away in its entirety is just one big ball
of irony so to speak. Many instances in this move have a large variety of irony and importance. For
example, after the thanksgiving dinner, Chuck is getting called into work and is required to fly
overseas. Goodbyes are never easy, but Chuck is not thinking about that; Chuck is trying to get back
to Kelly as soon a possible. This is shown by him saying be right back after he steps out of the car.
This very simple action, that has so much meaning behind it. Chucks plane experiences complications
and unfortunately crashes in the middle of the sea. The plane crash thus proves how Chucks statement
of be right back is ironic. Another way the directors are showing irony is not through words, but
actions and camera angles. One of Chucks first actions when he gets onto the island is to write HELP
in the sand, in hopes to catch the attention of a an airplane flying

Radicalism And Radical Environmentalism
Environmental writers have always written radically about the environment because that is what is
necessary. The difference between the radical ecologists of today is radical theory becoming radical
action. Henry David Thoreau wrote plenty of radical ideas, though his most often radical thought
comes from On the Duty of Civil Disobedience . Civil Disobedience provides modern day activists
and ecologists with the foundation of why it is important think critically about government actions, as
well as showing readers direct action against the government. Thoreau contributes partially to the
eventual formation of the radical ecology movement in this sense. The other half of the ideology of
radical environmentalists was popularized by Aldo Leopold in Sand County Almanac. Leopold s idea
of a land ethic and biocentrism is the main ideology that drives radical environmentalists. Only when
Leopold and Thoreau are put together does a full picture begin to form of what it takes to understand
radical ecologists. Thoreau and Leopold lay the groundwork for creating the perfect radical
environmental movement; where Thoreau gives instruction on action against the government and the
majority, Leopold gives the radical movement the idea to act on, biocentrism. To understand the
conversation of radicalism as informed by Thoreau and Leopold, there are some ideas that need to be
defined. What does it mean for an environmentalist to be radical? Is radicalism the same as terrorism?
Radicalism is an umbrella term, often used in a myriad of ways. Analyzing the environmental
movement, radical ideology is the concept that the world is unsustainable, and the ideas put forth to
make the world sustainable require a massive shift in collective societal thought as well as a massive
shift in the way most communities, cities, states, etc. live (Sessions, 1995). The shift in collective
thought would be away from anthropomorphism, the idea that humans are the most important thing in
the world, towards biocentrism, the idea that all things in nature matter equally. An idea, or action, can
be radical without being violent towards living things. This is the important distinction between
radicalism and terrorism. For an action to be terrorism, it

chemically altering the Cocaine powder to form hard crystals, which can be known as rocks .
The drug Cocaine alters chemical levels in the brain which can lead the user to have the feel good

The Pros And Cons Of Gelukpa Law
It is absolutely true that Doegyal practitioners are not allowed to receive Nyingma teaching. It is
clearly written in the infamous Yellow Book, how the spirit Doegyal spoke to Zigyab Rinpoche, that
on many occasions like this gyaltsen dorjee shugden spoke during trance that you can not listen or
practice Nyigma teachings. If you do this kind of things, then there would be great obstacles to your
life as well as your accomplishment, which would not be good. He warned many times but did not
listen. One day, Dorjee Shugden was greatly annoyed and told him I may not pierce you with my
deadly claws, if I do, I cannot take them out. In this way, the deity persuaded the Rinpoche to uphold a
pure Gelug tradition.
Now, they say they are authentic Gelukpa Buddhists. Then, why not respect basic Buddhist principles
in general and the general Gelugpa law in particular? Which is more important, the general Gelukpa
Law or Shugden? According to the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we look at the issue objectively, Shugden has been a subject of a huge controversy since the
beginning of his story. Some believe that he is the emanation of Lord Manjushri while the majority of
Tibetan Buddhists from all the four traditions look upon him as a ghost. In fact, it has created
confusion in the lives of many Tibetan Buddhistsfor generations His Holiness has been very cautious
at the beginning. He has done a thorough investigation on the subject through observation, reflection,
analysis and dreams, which have taken years for him to come to realise the real identity of the spirit.
After all these years of hard work, he finally realised that there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that
the so called dharma protector is none other than an ordinary spirit. He used divination in the presence
of Tibet s Patron deity Palden Lhamo to reconfirm the revelation. The divination was an icing on the

Analysis of Fabulous Superlatives Concert
This may sound trite, but the concert as I saw it is best described by the name of the band, the
Fabulous Superlatives!!! On every level this was a concert I will remember for a long time.
The ArtsQuest venue was new to me and I was impressed with the ease of finding it, the free amble
parking, the friendly staff and the great sound and seating. It is a modern impressive structure built
around the old Bethlehem Steel Works. The ruins of the old plant are used as a visual backdrop to the
new and impressive entertainment complex. There are a couple of restaurants, and a movie theater
housed next to the concert venue. The food was very good, the serviced just great and I d would and
plan to go back.
Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives took the stage with a thunderous explosion of applause
form the sold out audience. It was evident that many folks where their to see Marty as the primary
reason for coming that evening. His band is truly both fabulous and superlative. The line up is: Harry
Stenson on drums and background vocals; Kenny Vughan on lead and acoustic guitar; Paul Martin
bass and background vocals and Clarence the guitar accompanying Marty Stuart. Clarence is the
guitar played by the fabled Clarence White. Clarence and Roger s Rickenbacker 370/12 guitars were
stars in their own right getting numerous pictures taken of them before, during and after the show.
Marty , who is a guitar collector, also owns Hank a guitar one owned by Hank Williams Sr.

Uva-F-1560, Hertz
The bidding process for Hertz began when William Ford Jr. announced plans to explore strategic
alternatives for Hertz in April 2005. Two months later in June, an S 1 registration statement was filed
setting up a dual track process that would result in a Hertz IPO should other sale prospects fail. This
decision affects the bidding process in multiple ways. For one there is less time for the two bidding
groups to come up with a price and resulting agreement. They are forced to act quickly and find a
price that the Hertz management will agree upon. If they don t do this, then Hertz will just go through
with the IPO. This could lead to a driven up price, since the bidding groups will do whatever it takes
to win the bid.

ABS debt was not only less expensive (it carried a low interest rate around 4.5%), but it provided a
more flexible financing arrangement since debt could increase or decrease with fleet size. Also, senior
debt and purchase price multiples had increased to 4x EBITDA and 8x EBITDA respectively. These
numbers are used in coming up with a purchase price multiple, which is a key drive in finding the
enterprise value.
When trying to find the Enterprise Value for Hertz, the sponsor group took a couple key assumptions.
First off, management had projected transaction volume to grow 6.9% in 2005, which according to the
case is one of the key drivers of the rental car business. This seems to be a reasonable assumption
considering that travel was starting to rebound from the lows post 9/11. Also, the Bidding group
believed $400 $600 million in annual EBITDA savings was attainable by 2009 (confirmed by external
industry advisors). Hertz was behind in EBITDA margins, increasing operating expenses outpacing
revenue growth, the off airport growth strategy had significant losses, higher nonfleet capital
expenditures, Europe s RAC SG amp;A was 3 times higher than those in the U.S., and return on assets
lagged competitors. The bidding group thought by targeting these problem areas, and others, they
could generate higher profits. Another assumption

Introduction: Pregnancy has always been an important time during any woman s life, bringing a new
life into the world is a blessing. While on the other hand, complications during pregnancies are the last
thing anyone wants to hear or go through. One major complication that can occur during pregnancy is
known as a neural tube defect, which is caused from a deficiency of folic acid over a specific period of

Technological Change Moves Faster Than Bureaucracy
Technological change moves much faster than bureaucracy, and it is the patent office that must bear
the collision of novelty and government for anyone who wishes to profit from their genius must go
there to have their constitutional right to the proceeds from it verified. Exactly what technology can be
patented in this day and age, as our bodies and proteins become subject to technology themselves, is
indeed in need of some clarification. Today scientific advances allow us to look into the deepest codes
that create our bodies our genes. With a small sample scientists can isolate the miniscule structure of
just a single gene and analyze it for every divergence it displays in an individual as compared to the

Smith Pharmaceuticals is one of these corporations. Over several years, they spent hundreds of
millions of dollars on research perfecting the method to synthesize and analyze cDNA complementary
DNA in the genes LIF and LCK. Mutations in these two genes, as Smith discovered, correlated with
and were highly indicative of an increased risk of leukemia. Smith filed a patent on these genes and
the process of the diagnostic test, and has since benefited over one million potential leukemia patients
with a diagnostic that allows them to take preemptive strikes against the disease the average cost of
leukemia in the Netherlands is $104,386 (de Uyl et al.), and one treatment in the United States costs

encourage innovation by giving inventors a limited period of exclusive control over the fruits of their
labour, (April 2013). Smith invested these large sums into identifying this gene under the assumption
that it would make profit off of these tests due to its rights over the information it gathers and,
important to note, it would not have done so without this financial motivation. Otherwise, it is highly
plausible that LIF and LCK s benefits would lie undiscovered even today, and the one million patients
tested at under $4000 would all be undergoing $178000

In addition, academics have attempted to explain stadium subsidies not only in terms of economic

Conflict Within Events And Leisure Organisations Essay
Conflict can be defined in various ways and has no single clear meaning. A broad definition of conflict
is a serious disagreement or argument that generally continues for a long period of time, however
according to Huczynski and Buchanan (2010) no conflict exists if two or more parties are not aware of
any conflict. In terms of conflict within events and leisure organisations, De Dre and Beersma (2005)
say that conflict is best viewed as a process that begins when an individual or group perceives
differences and opposition between him/herself and another individual or group about interests,
believes or values that better to him or her. Within organisations, the management of conflict greatly
depends on the personality and characteristic of individual managers.
It is not possible for all human begins to live in peace and harmony all the time (Martin, 2005, p.750),
therefore conflict within the workplace is inevitable and can arise within events and leisure
organisations for many reasons. Personal factors are the main factor contributing to conflict.
Differences in values and beliefs can often create conflict, as individuals will have alterations about
the underlying purpose of an organisation, and how each other should act toward one another and
customers. Unique personalities can also create conflict as it can result in people struggling to get
along with one another, and therefore a personality clash will occur (Rollinson, 2008, p.418). Another

Regents Of The University Of California V. Bakke
S.C.O.T.U.S. Legal Brief

Regents of the University of California v. Bakke (1976)
Facts of the case:
In the early 1970 s UC Davis decided to have a dual admissions program for their medical school. The
purpose of having two admissions programs in one would be for regular students and the other one
would be for disadvantaged students. Minority applicants could now say they were disadvantaged so
they were put in the special pool which would make it easy for them to get into the medical program.
One major differences between both programs is that through the disadvantaged program you could
have lower than a 2.5 and still be eligible to get into the school.
The controversy began when Allan Bakke applied to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Superior Court of Yolo County stated that Bakke should not be admitted into the
medical school because he failed to show that he would actually be admitted if there was no special
admissions program. Both sides appealed because Regents of the University of California didn t
believe it was unconstitutional and Bakke wanted to be admitted into the medical program.
The next step was onto The Supreme Court of California. They said the same exact thing that the
Superior Court of Yolo County said, however they said that Bakke should be admitted into the medical
program because the University, not Bakke, failed to show that he would not be admitted without the
specialty program. Regents of the University of California appealed this because both courts did not
agree with the points that they made.
Petition before the Supreme Court:
Both sides had major arguments and reasons why they thought their side was right. Regents of the
University of California said that their special admissions program helped limit discrimination in our
society. Medical schools normally were discriminatory towards minors (by the admission process
based of credentials) so this program helped ease that problem. The Regents of the University of
California also stated that the program will help poor communities by giving them physicians that will
want to go and help out the cause of where they grew up. Regents of the

The Effects Of Private Participation On Infrastructure
This paper examines the effects of private participation in infrastructure (PPI) in the developing world
on the provision of infrastructure services. This process is colloquially referred to as privatization and
involves the transfer of previously state owned and operated infrastructure assets to operation and
sometimes ownership by the private sector. Analysis of more than two decades worth of evidence
showed that, in terms of the impact on infrastructure provision, PPI tends to provide positive gains in
efficiency, quality of and access to infrastructure services. With regard to realizing the benefits of
privatization, effective regulation and the introduction of competition are crucial. Notably, positive
impacts from PPI are not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand I was familiar with the arguments of the proponents of privatization, who argue that
private companies are better positioned than the government to provide most services in an efficient
manner. In the face of this debate I wanted to explore the evidence in an attempt to reach some fact
based conclusions about the impact of the privatization of infrastructure service on their delivery.
3. The Research Process
Thankfully PPI in the developing world has been ongoing for over two decades at this point, so there
is a substantial body of academic literature on the impact of infrastructure privatization for specific
cases and for each infrastructure sector.
Research for this paper was mainly conducted through Georgetown Library resources and Google
Scholar. Case studies for infrastructure privatization projects are a plenty and I had to sift through
them to identify more comprehensive reports that looked at a set of case studies or a specific sector.
Most comprehensive reports on infrastructure privatization in the developing world date from the
early 2000s, though I was able to find two recent comprehensive assessments of the evidence that
provided me fresh overviews of the current knowledge base and leads for further sources.
4. Introduction
Across the developing world, private participation in infrastructure accounts for less than 20% of

our adrenaline shoots through the roof as we now get to walk back up the stadium to play our game.
Standing in the blow up tunnel as the band stands at the entrance of the run through, they give the final

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Opinion Mining
The work of a complete review or opinion mining application might involve attacking each of the
following problems. If the application is integrated into a general purpose search engine, then one
would need to determine whether the user is in fact looking for subjective material. This may or may
not be a difficult problem in and of it: perhaps queries of this type will tend to contain indicator terms
like review , reviews , or opinions , or perhaps the application would provide a checkbox to the user so
that he or she could indicate directly that reviews are what are desired. Besides the still open problem
of determining which documents are topically relevant to an opinion oriented query, an additional

to know the opinion about. It is also very important to remove all facts that don t express any opinions

the FBI, J. Edgar had a personal vendetta against him, and ultimately, he played a role in the
assassination of King.
First, why was King under surveillance by J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI? The Federal Bureau claims

Even more, how did this assassin, James Earl Ray, escape the murder scene and stay on the run for the

It would be all too easy to believe but it is possible that a more sinister plot was formed. I think a
reasonable theory for why James Earl Ray was able to shoot King and escape from the law for two
months is because they let him. I believe that the FBI had evidence that King was being watched and
that an assassination attempt would be made that day. Hoover did not legally report this information

Ray a perfect time slot to assassinate King and benefit Hoover by eliminating one of his biggest

A Day in the Mind of George W. Bush
I am writing to request that you vote for H.J.RES.114: Authorization for Use of Military Force Against
Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Hastert). This resolution will ensure American national security and
prioritizing the states overseas assets by deploying troops to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction
and to bring forth democracy to the Iraqi people. I wholeheartedly support your voting record, and as
the representative of the American people of the Nation s capitol, I believe your vote is especially
symbolic.
Many in the international community are against American military intervention on Iraqi soil. They
suggest that we either send in United Nations investigators to find out more about the weapons of
mass destruction or work with other countries to establish some sort of sanctions. But I know there is
no time to waste and I must immediately deploy three hundred thousand troops to be able to declare
Mission Accomplish as soon as possible and with limited American and Iraqi casualties. Others say
that we should do nothing on the basis that invading another country is destructive of human life, costs
substantial amounts of money, undermines our moral authority, could ruin our international reputation,
and violates the sovereignty of Iraq. We the United States and me myself, George W. Bush, lead this
so called Free World and have the duty to intervene and the right to protect the American peoples
interest for global issues.

The Complete Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
There are certain countries that are ran through dictatorship, they abuse the power they have to the
country. In the story, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane Satrapi, she changes the view
towards Iran through occurrences and eastern fundamentalist ideas. In 1979, there was the Islamic
revolution in Iran. This year was the year that was going to have many changes to the country. In
chapter one of the Veil, there are characters and their freedom of expression being repressed as well as
the movement of repression where the Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by public figures.
In chapter one, the Veil The veil was one of the biggest impacts that Iranian women had to face. In

Even the youngest women are resisting to wear the veil, and is a great example of how western
influence is victimizing women that are oppressed and are categorized into a suppressive group by
wearing the veil. Satrapi was stuck in two mind sets which were the liberal minded world of her
parents and her religiosity. Another crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I really didn t
know what to think about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family we were very
modern and avant garde (6.1). Satrapi had an important role when this big change happened. She was
an individual who had a strong character as a child. Her family sees being religious while not wearing
a veil compatible, the government believes the opposite. Satrapi foreshadows how at the end of the
story she leaves Iran but never escapes her homeland Iran.
The theme of repression is a never changing issue with Persepolis. The abuse of power happens
because there is a leader trying to run the country in a certain way. Satrapi illustrates how Iranians
were repressed in public spaces and by public figures. Satrapies mom was on the newspapers, because
a German journalist took a photo of her (5). Her mom would hide most of the time, this was creating
some sort of discomfort for her, and obviously she was scared. She even had to dye her hair so she
wouldn t be recognizable. Satrapies mom, makes this a

Should Movie Theaters Be Worried That Netflix Is Stealing...
Should movie theaters be worried that Netflix is stealing their audience? With 50 million subscribers
worldwide, Netflix is giving movie theaters a run for their money. With easy access, many subscribers
are able to reach Netflix right in their natural habitat: sitting in the comfort of their home in front of
their TVs.
Netflix gains thousands of subscribers every year, compared to where it was a few years ago, many
theaters believe that movies available to stream at home is a big threat. Home media has changed
drastically over the decades, there are no more video rental shops, thanks to how much technology and
the Internet have improved over the past few years. Throughout most of our lives, we have accepted
the fact that whenever a movie comes out, the only way to watch it is through theater first. With the
innovation of Netflix, we are able to experience entertainment in a different way.
Having to plan on whether or not to see a film in theaters has always been a hassle for movie goers all
the time. Today, movie theaters aren t always the most tempting choice with all the obstacles ... Show

And who would want to deal with screaming babies, cell phone ringing, chair kicking neighbors, etc.?
Even though you have to wait for new releases on Netflix, there s no waiting in lines, and you have
the right to eat whatever you want whenever you d like during your movie.
Although the debate of whether or not going to the movie theaters rather than staying home and
watching Netflix is still in question, unequivocally the answer is yes. While having Netflix has been a
blessing to the antisocial community, nothing on your home TV screen or laptop screen will compare
to an 80 ft. movie screen and hundreds of speakers. Some movies are just meant to be screened on a
larger than life scale, and that s something a TV or a computer screen will never be able to

First Halftime Show
My First Halftime Show was really fun. First, I was really nervous, because I really didn t know the
songs that we were going to do. Then, I was really excited that I didn t mess up or play the wrong
music. Finally, I was relevied that it was over with, then I became sad. I felt really sad when we got
off the field. I m going to tell you how my first halftime show went. I was really nervous to hear that
we was about to go on the field to perform. When I was sitting in the stands my friend said, look, we
have less than two minutes before halftime, and I got so nervous. First, I started freaking out because I
forgot about the whole thing. When we was getting ready to go on the field, we prayed, and did a
traditional chant. After that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My band director was telling us when to step off and other things that we needed to do. Then, we
stopped marching because we had to wait for the drum major to do her thing. After that, we started to
march again and I forgot all my spots that I had to march to. Finally, after stepping off I remembered
all my spots. On this one move we had to scatter and I felt like I was going to run into someone, but I
didn t. We did really good on the field. After, we got off the field, I was really sad because it was
already over with. Everybody was saying, Y all did really good out there. Everybody was cheering for
us, so I was really happy about that. After the band got off the field we could get something to eat, and
I was so hungry. I was really sad, because my mama forgot her phone and didn t record the
performence, and I didn t have no memory of it. My section leader told me before we got on the field,
If you get nervous just look at the ground, but make sure u do not hit someone, and that s what I did,
but I didn t hit anyone. That is how I felt during my first halftime show. I was really nervous but
became happy throughout the game. My friend said, we all did good even if we were really nervous
and didn t really know what we were doing. After the game was over my mama took me to get
something to eat. I was so happy because we won the

Pauline Letters Essay
A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith. Justification
by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the biblical period,
it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to obey the laws
given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead, Paul argues that
our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone.
The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to
obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more content

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,
just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the belief that
you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is instead
accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works.
One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question in
(Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in Jesus
Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions faith in this
section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one
who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the Jewish reaction to
this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and justification was based
on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates
their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold
the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is through our preaching that men are justified
by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus
Christ because according to scripture, sin was prevalent at the time. The

The Ramifications of Government Reform on Education Essay
America currently ranks 36th in the world in regards to education. This encompasses reading, math,
and science. Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across ethnicities,
income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low. The curriculum
in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state to state, which is one
of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other countries. For instance,
different schools offer different classes. In some schools classes that may be a requirement for
students might not even be an option for others at a school that may be right across town. This pertains
especially to public and private schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, states are required to develop assessments on basic skills. These assessments vary and can
be given on any subject with varying frequencies. Because the act does not enforce a national
achievement standard, each state develops its own standards. Therefore, the requirements,
expectations, and achievements are diverse.
The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the
efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB
maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In
essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn more
and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or playing field
so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left behind, therefore
there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal.
The Common School era dates back to the 19th century and states that in America it is the idea or
expectation that all children are supported equally in regards to education and are afforded the same
opportunities. It is based on the view that education should be an equitable, assimilative,

  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Turtles They say you can get seven different kinds of meat from butchering a turtle. Depending on what part of the turtle you re chewing on, the taste may be reminiscent of pork, or chicken, or veal, or fish, or whatever ... you get the picture. Perhaps this variability can partly explain why turtle has been such a popular menu item throughout the history of the United States. At least, it used to be. Not so long ago you could find Campbell s turtle soup sitting alongside minestrone and tomato in grocery stores throughout the country. So what happened? How and why did an American staple virtually vanish? ADVERTISING It s a question Saveur magazine recently tried to tackle. Now, if you ask me or anyone else who knows much about turtles and turtle conservation, the answer is quite simple: There are not enough turtles left to eat. For example, a picture of a few chefs hovering over the carcass of a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) leads off the Saveur article. Today green sea turtles, like all other species of sea turtles, are federally protected under the Endangered Species Act. If you ate one in the United States, you would be committing a felony. Turtles are one of the most imperiled groups of animals on the planet. Habitat loss is probably their biggest threat; when a wetland is drained, a field paved over, or a nesting beach overrun with condominiums, there is simply no space left for turtles. But harvesting too many for food has played a key role in driving down turtle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past let us accept our own responsibility for the future John F. Kennedy, 35th US President. This paper describes about the Leadership styles and Behavioral analysis of former U.S. president John F. Kennedy. Elected in 1960 as the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, a self made multimillionaire who led the Exchange commission and securities under Franklin D. Roosevelt and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He parlayed an elite education and a reputation as a military hero for his successful run into congress in 1946. His entrance into politics surprised his college mates. He never enjoyed campaigning, but was elected, and won the Senate in 1952. He served in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate before becoming the 35th president in 1961. After earning his party s nomination for vice president in 1956, he announced his candidacy for president on January 2, 1960. Kennedy outmaneuvered his main opponent, Hubert Humphrey with superior organizations and financial resources, Selecting Senate majority leader, Lyndon Johnson of Texas, as his running mate. • 5. The Chinese Capitalist Essay In a New York Times article dated February 20th, 1997, author Patrick E. Tyler writes about a political wizard who put China on the road to capitalism. The Chinese capitalist (this is not capitalism in a western sense, but more of a communist/capitalist mix) Revolution is very significant in the study of world history; especially considering the Maoist form of government it sprang from. Notably, there is one small statured Chinese leader who this essay will focus on in the context of the revolution: Deng Xiaoping. Although his slightness of size didn t offer any insight into his grand political stature, an inquiry into his life certainly does. This essay will provide an informative glimpse into the life and times of Deng Xiaoping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deng was the youngest, having just turned 15. Deng s father was very supportive of his son s participation in the program. In fact, the night before he left for France, his father talked with him, and inquired what he hoped to learn in France. What could motivate such a young Chinese boy to make such a big move? Deng simply repeated the idea he had learned from his teachers: To learn knowledge and truth from the West in order to save China. (Stewart). He was attune to China s great suffering, and that the Chinese people needed a modern education if they hoped to save their country. During the early part of the program, Deng temporarily attended middle schools in Bayeux and Châtillon, however he spent the large majority of his time in France working. He first worked as a fitter at the Le Creusot Iron and Steel Plant in a southwestern suburb of Paris where he eventually moved in April 1921. In La Garenne Colombes (where he lived) Deng met and was influenced by a number of more mature Chinese intellectuals. While under the influence of these older Chinese students in France, Deng began to look deeply into Marxist thought. In 1921 he joined the Chinese Communist Youth League in Europe. Later, in 1924, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. In 1926 Deng traveled to the Soviet Union and studied at Moscow Sun Yat sen University. Weiwei reminds us to think critically. Although many of the countries in which the prisoners represented in his works come from are now free nations , we cannot forget a time when this did not apply; the works are held at a notorious, former jail in America proves this. Is not birth, beauty, good shape, discourse, manhood, learning, gentleness, virtue, youth, liberality, and so forth the spice and salt that seasons a man? CRESSIDAAy, a minced man... (1.2.231 236) This conversation between Cressida and Pandarus demonstrates the representation of masculinity in both Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida. Each of them is concerned with ideas of honour and military prowess in relation to the male identity, drawing on the masculine ideals of Roman antiquity a prominent notion during the early modern period as is evident in Pandarus notions of what a man is . Shakespeare does not, however, endorse these notions in the plays; his handling of the subject is reminiscent more of Cressida s response in this passage, suggesting that the same qualities which make a man can also effeminize him. This essay will examine how this paradoxical nature of manhood and its arbitrary relations to honour and women are exposed in the plays. In the world of Coriolanus, violent and aggressive masculinity is set on a pedestal by the people of Rome. This is evident in Volumnia s attitude towards raising children applauding wounds Coriolanus has received in battle and even going as far as saying that The breasts of Hecuba, When she did suckle Hector, looked not lovelier Than Hector s forehead when it spit forth blood At Grecian sword, contemning. As these particles move back and forth, they bump into more particles, and the process continues for a certain distance, depending on how hard they are vibrating. This process of transferring the energy is called a sound wave. According to David SantoPietro (2013), Waves can transport energy through a medium without transporting the medium itself . In other words, a wave does not transport particles, it transports energy through the particles. Persuasive Essay On Bicycle Safety It has been asserted many times by mothers and law enforcement that people should use a bicycle helmet, but many ignore the tip and increase the danger they face on a bike. Surprisingly in California only those under 18 must wear a helmet (Coalition), but even adults should wear them as the chance of injury increases when riding without one. The reasons why those under 18 have to wear a helmet are reasonable as the organization KidsHealth in the article Bike safety informs people that Every year, about 300,000 kids go to the emergency department because of bike injuries, and at least 10,000 kids have injuries that require a few days in the hospital. Some of these injuries are so serious that children die, usually from head injuries . Death is a big reason to cause the law to require kids to wear helmet, so all cyclists who wish to ride safely should wear a helmet regardless of age. It is such an important piece of gear that bicycle safety is almost impossible to think of without also thinking about a bike helmet. As in D. K. Howe s article Bicycle Safety the United States Safety Administration provides the tip, Wear a properly fitted helmet. It is the single most important piece of safety equipment you can use . Now that the importance of following laws and wearing a helmet have been addressed, it is time bicyclist are aware of keeping a well maintained bike to lower the amount of accidents even more. • 17. Irony In Cast Away The only real change comes from inside. There is nothing in life that will ever change you drastically unless you let it. Life will only change you if you let it, that s why people walk around like they are protecting themselves with an imperceptible forcefield of false sangfroid attempting to act like they have their entire life together. The only way to perceive change is to go through a slow process of self development. In the movie Cast Away, Tom Hanks does a marvelous job of portraying how isolation and desperation can have a negative toll on a fragile mind. Cast Away in its entirety is just one big ball of irony so to speak. Many instances in this move have a large variety of irony and importance. For example, after the thanksgiving dinner, Chuck is getting called into work and is required to fly overseas. Goodbyes are never easy, but Chuck is not thinking about that; Chuck is trying to get back to Kelly as soon a possible. This is shown by him saying be right back after he steps out of the car. This very simple action, that has so much meaning behind it. Chucks plane experiences complications and unfortunately crashes in the middle of the sea. The plane crash thus proves how Chucks statement of be right back is ironic. Another way the directors are showing irony is not through words, but actions and camera angles. One of Chucks first actions when he gets onto the island is to write HELP in the sand, in hopes to catch the attention of a an airplane flying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Radicalism And Radical Environmentalism Environmental writers have always written radically about the environment because that is what is necessary. The difference between the radical ecologists of today is radical theory becoming radical action. Henry David Thoreau wrote plenty of radical ideas, though his most often radical thought comes from On the Duty of Civil Disobedience . Civil Disobedience provides modern day activists and ecologists with the foundation of why it is important think critically about government actions, as well as showing readers direct action against the government. Thoreau contributes partially to the eventual formation of the radical ecology movement in this sense. The other half of the ideology of radical environmentalists was popularized by Aldo Leopold in Sand County Almanac. Leopold s idea of a land ethic and biocentrism is the main ideology that drives radical environmentalists. Only when Leopold and Thoreau are put together does a full picture begin to form of what it takes to understand radical ecologists. Thoreau and Leopold lay the groundwork for creating the perfect radical environmental movement; where Thoreau gives instruction on action against the government and the majority, Leopold gives the radical movement the idea to act on, biocentrism. To understand the conversation of radicalism as informed by Thoreau and Leopold, there are some ideas that need to be defined. What does it mean for an environmentalist to be radical? Is radicalism the same as terrorism? Radicalism is an umbrella term, often used in a myriad of ways. Analyzing the environmental movement, radical ideology is the concept that the world is unsustainable, and the ideas put forth to make the world sustainable require a massive shift in collective societal thought as well as a massive shift in the way most communities, cities, states, etc. live (Sessions, 1995). The shift in collective thought would be away from anthropomorphism, the idea that humans are the most important thing in the world, towards biocentrism, the idea that all things in nature matter equally. An idea, or action, can be radical without being violent towards living things. This is the important distinction between radicalism and terrorism. For an action to be terrorism, it ... A broad definition of conflict is a serious disagreement or argument that generally continues for a long period of time, however according to Huczynski and Buchanan (2010) no conflict exists if two or more parties are not aware of any conflict. In terms of conflict within events and leisure organisations, De Dre and Beersma (2005) say that conflict is best viewed as a process that begins when an individual or group perceives differences and opposition between him/herself and another individual or group about interests, believes or values that better to him or her. Within organisations, the management of conflict greatly depends on the personality and characteristic of individual managers. It is not possible for all human begins to live in peace and harmony all the time (Martin, 2005, p.750), therefore conflict within the workplace is inevitable and can arise within events and leisure organisations for many reasons. Personal factors are the main factor contributing to conflict. Differences in values and beliefs can often create conflict, as individuals will have alterations about the underlying purpose of an organisation, and how each other should act toward one another and customers. Unique personalities can also create conflict as it can result in people struggling to get along with one another, and therefore a personality clash will occur (Rollinson, 2008, p.418). This resolution will ensure American national security and prioritizing the states overseas assets by deploying troops to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction and to bring forth democracy to the Iraqi people. I wholeheartedly support your voting record, and as the representative of the American people of the Nation s capitol, I believe your vote is especially symbolic. Many in the international community are against American military intervention on Iraqi soil. They suggest that we either send in United Nations investigators to find out more about the weapons of mass destruction or work with other countries to establish some sort of sanctions. But I know there is no time to waste and I must immediately deploy three hundred thousand troops to be able to declare Mission Accomplish as soon as possible and with limited American and Iraqi casualties. Others say that we should do nothing on the basis that invading another country is destructive of human life, costs substantial amounts of money, undermines our moral authority, could ruin our international reputation, and violates the sovereignty of Iraq. We the United States and me myself, George W. Bush, lead this so called Free World and have the duty to intervene and the right to protect the American peoples interest for global issues. • 44. Religion 204a Joseph Fiore Religion 204A Christian Scriptures Dr. Jennifer Kaalund Pauline Letters Essay A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith. Justification by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the biblical period, it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to obey the laws given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead, Paul argues that our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone. The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the belief that you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is instead accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works. One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question in (Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in Jesus Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions faith in this section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the Jewish reaction to this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and justification was based on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is through our preaching that men are justified by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus Christ because according to scripture, sin was prevalent at the time. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across ethnicities, income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low. The curriculum in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state to state, which is one of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other countries. For instance, different schools offer different classes. In some schools classes that may be a requirement for students might not even be an option for others at a school that may be right across town. This pertains especially to public and private schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, states are required to develop assessments on basic skills. These assessments vary and can be given on any subject with varying frequencies. Because the act does not enforce a national achievement standard, each state develops its own standards. Therefore, the requirements, expectations, and achievements are diverse. The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn more and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or playing field so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left behind, therefore there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal. The Common School era dates back to the 19th century and states that in America it is the idea or expectation that all children are supported equally in regards to education and are afforded the same opportunities.
