Xerox Vertical Structure
Xerox Services is a multi national company that currently operates several call centers which handle
the customer service calls for many other Fortune 500 companies. Founded in 1906, it currently
employs over 140,000 people and had over 21 million dollars in revenue for the 2013 fiscal year
(Xerox, 2014). With operations in over 180 countries, Xerox Services is one of the largest business
process outsourcing companies in the world. Structured into many different smaller entities based on
the industry it serves, the call center operations portion of this business is the backbone of Xerox s
services for the last 40 years (Chesbrough, Rosenbloom, 2002). Xerox currently operates several
hundred call centers that handle both incoming and outgoing customer service and sales calls for its
vast amount of clients.
This company is setup in a very large vertical structure that starts with the CEO and works its way
down to its front line agents and employees. All decisions are filtered from the top to the bottom and
all requested approvals must originate from below and make their way up the company hierarchy. This
type of structure relies heavily on middle management to execute directives and monitor their
frontline resources to ensure they are being productive. This reliance on a large pool of middle
managers to run day to day operations makes this type of structure very large in size as well as
expensive from a payroll perspective.

The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Introduction
College is where young women and men beginning one of the most biggest and exciting adventures.
The students typically move out and begin to experience adulthood for the first time and often the first
time one can begin to make their own decisions. This also a very stressful times for students as they
must deal with the stress of their school work, internships, living on their own, and in some cases deal
with the effects of sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses has been a problem for many
years; however, in the past several years, this issue has come to light. In this paper I will discuss
sexual assaults being reported and how the universities deal with the reported sexual assault, the
statistics colleges report for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single
themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all college
campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students
and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to
report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the
school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual
assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of
1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger
number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25
percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape
another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults.
Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions
typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such
as programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh her article, REACTIVE TO

violence: Safe Dates and the building level intervention of Shifting Boundaries. Both were developed

I Am A Normal Human Being
First and foremost, I believe that I am a normal human being. I don t consider myself to be out of the
ordinary except for my love of Prince, but if you don t like Prince or his music, can you even call
yourself a human? I digress, I thought that going into this assignment I would find out more
interesting things about myself, however, I learned quickly that that wasn t really the case. See, what
was interesting to me was very boring and weird to others, especially my friends that aren t in theater.
When I would go up to them and explain the new things that I am doing, they would kind of just look
at me and secretly judge, but it also let me know that I was enjoying learning more about myself.
All my life I knew that I was flexible jointed and that I could do a lot of things such as putting my leg
over my head and interlocking my arms and moving them all around my body without breaking that
lock, but I also discovered that I could do other things without even noticing them. For instance, I tend
to bounce my knee whenever I am really into a story that I am telling, but also whenever I am really
passionate about something. Another thing that I noticed is that when I sit, I sway from side to side or
front to back, but I just have to be in motion. It s just something that allows me to burn off the extra
energy that is within me. I think that all the little things I do, such as leading with my left foot and
having my right face outward as I walk explains why it kind of looks like

Essay on The Choosing Of A Landfill Site
The Choosing of a Landfill Site
There is currently much debate on the desirability of landfilling particular wastes, the practicability of
alternatives such as waste minimisation or pre treatment, the extent of waste pre treatment required,
and of the most appropriate landfilling strategies for the final residues. This debate is likely to
stimulate significant developments in landfilling methods during the next decade. Current and
proposed landfill techniques are described in this information sheet.
Types of landfill
Landfill techniques are dependent upon both the type of waste and the landfill management strategy. A
commonly used classification of landfills, according to waste type only, is described below, together
with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This strategy is the most commonly used for nuclear wastes and hazardous wastes. It is also used in
some countries for MSW and other non hazardous but polluting wastes.
B) Containment and collection of leachate
Inflow of water is controlled but not prevented entirely, and leakage is minimised or prevented, by a
low permeability basal liner and by removal of leachate. This is the most common strategy currently
for MSW landfills in developed countries. The duration of a pollution risk is dependent on the rate of
water flow through the wastes. Because it requires active leachate management there is currently
much interest in accelerated leaching to shorten this timescale from what could be centuries to just a
few decades.
C) Controlled contaminant release
The top cover and basal liner are designed and constructed to allow generation and leakage of leachate
at a calculated, controlled rate. An environmental assessment is always necessary to that the impact of
the emitted leachate is acceptable. No active leachate control measures are used. Such sites are only
suitable in certain locations and for certain wastes. A typical example would be a landfill in a coastal
location, receiving an inorganic waste such as bottom ash from MSW incineration.
D) Unrestricted contaminant release
No control is exerted over either the inflow or the outflow of water.

The Theme Of Duality In The Lifted Veil By George Eliot
Published in 1859, The lifted Veil by George Eliot is an enthralling and complex tale of the
supernatural. George Eliot, actually Mary Anne Evans by birth, was a leading novelist, editor, and
critic of the Victorian era who went by a pen name, so she could write freely without the pressures of
following the conventions of female writers. The short story she wrote is set predominantly in
England and revolves around the conflicts that Latimer, the second son of a wealthy middle class
banker, experiences during the course of his life both ordinary and extraordinary. The most notable
element of the story is the emergence of Latimer s superadded awareness which allows him both the
ability to read the minds of others who are nearby and to experience highly detailed visions of the
future. This mental power creates a multitude of unusual conflicts which Eliot uses to characterize
Latimer and his split conscious through her employment of duality in the story. The theme of duality
manifests itself early in the story providing foreshadowing for Latimer s future supernatural ability.
During childhood, Latimer was regarded as a very sensitive child (Eliot 5) not displaying the typical
hardy qualities typical of a male. When young Latimer witnessed the loud noises of his father s estate
like the trampling of the horses on the pavement in the echoing stables (Eliot 5) or the booming bark
of the dogs (Eliot 5), he reacted in a dual nature experiencing both a mingled trepidation and delicious
excitement (Eliot 5). This strange mix of fear and joy felt by Latimer highlights the odd aspect of
Latimer s character in which he struggles between which side of the metaphorical heads or tails of a
coin he desires. The passage also accentuates the delicate quality of his mind that allows for his dual
consciousness to emerge later in the story by mentioning that the loud noises made me sob and
tremble ... I longed for them to come back again (Eliot 5). Latimer s powerful attunement with even
the most ordinary of loud sounds reveals a supernatural element about him that hungers for
stimulation. As Latimer reaches the age of sixteen, he is sent by his father to Geneva to continue his
rational studies abroad. There

Puritan Citizen In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Throughout the novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne develops compelling characters that
are starkly different from the normal Puritan citizen. The novel mainly focuses on Hester, a Puritan
woman living in New England, and the story of her affair and how it affects her life and the lives of
those around her. Puritan citizens are illustrated as stern, dreary characters, but Hawthorne brings up
sin, love, and hate even in the characters who are seemingly the most rigid when it comes to Puritan
lifestyle. Chillingworth, Hester, and Pearl of the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
display complex character traits, including admiration, honesty, and loneliness. Hester s daughter,
Pearl, has distinct characteristics that make her a major character in this novel. In the text, Hawthorne
reveals that Pearl feels isolated from society, and has to go through any struggles in her life alone. The
singularity lay in the hostile feelings with which the child regarded ... Show more content on

wasted in thy nature! (Hawthorne 157). Chillingworth admires Hester for her great qualities. He says
that she could have met a better man and lived a better life if this sin and evil had not taken place and
can see that her good qualities were wasted when she married him. As a result, Chillingworth
empathizes with her because the attributes he loved about her have transformed due to her punishment
physically and mentally. Chillingworth still loves and admires Hester s good qualities, but understands

Kohlberg s Six Stages Of Moral Development
1. Goldman Sachs should have been punished for its behavior in the years leading up to the financial
crisis. Goldman ended up settling with the federal government for $110 Billion, which I do not believe
was sufficient based on the magnitude of problems created. This amount should have been much
larger, and at minimum they should have forfeited the $14 Billion paid to them by AIG. (Inside Job,
2011) In addition, AIG should have had the right to sue Goldman Sachs for fraud. It was in the public
s best interest to keep Goldman up and running, however additional penalties could have been put on a
repayment schedule to keep them solvent. Instead, you had Goldman giving out large bonuses.
Executives and those responsible for misdeeds should have been subject to significant clawbacks of
compensation. If the reason they misbehaved and took inappropriate risks was to raise compensation,
losing that compensation would be an appropriate punishment. 2. Kohlberg s six stages of moral
development can be applied to corporations. Corporations are made up of individuals, and the
corporate culture can contribute to an individual s moral decision making. Mintz tells us that an
individual s moral development can be influenced by corporate culture, especially ethics training. (p.
58) Since the corporate culture can so heavily influence individual ethical decision making, the stage
of moral development of the corporation is important. An example of Stage 2 preconventional moral

Path-Goal Theory in Leadership Essay
Leadership has been studied from a wide range of perspectives and thus it means different things to
different people. Some people view leadership as the focus of group processes, some others view it
from a personality or skills perspective, to some others leadership is an act or behavior, some school
of thought describe leadership in terms of power relationship while some view leadership as a
transformational process (Northouse, 2012). Looking at the various definitions of leadership, there are
various terms that are important; including the fact that leadership is a process that involves influence
and the attainment of a common goal, and usually occurs in the context of a group (Northouse, 2012).

Heart Attacks Or Myocardial Infarctions
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart
attack. Of these, 525,000 are a first heart attack and 210,000 happen in people who have already had a
heart attack (CDC, 2015). Heart attacks or myocardial infarctions (MI) can be fatal if appropriate steps
and protocols are not followed soon after the onset. It requires critical thinking by nurses and the
health care team to reduce the damage to the heart and prevent death. Every year 425,000 people in
the United States die from a MI (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 831, 2013). Key nursing interventions, and
implications will be emphasized as well as common complications that may occur. Pathophysiology
Myocardial infarction is defined as irreversible necrosis of myocardial tissue as a result of inadequate
blood flow for a critical period of time. (Duksta Younker, 2012). A MI occurs when cardiac tissue is
suddenly deprived of oxygen. Most MIs are the result of atherosclerosis of a coronary artery, rupture
of the plaque, subsequent thrombosis, and occlusion of blood flow (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 829,
2013). When there is a blood flow reduction in the heart of 80% to 90%, ischemia occurs, which can
be followed by necrosis of cardiac tissue if blood flow is not reestablished. A MI is further broken
down by the American College of Cardiology, there is the non ST elevation MI (NSTEMI) and the ST

The Perception Of Jean De Coras In The Film
Additionally, there is an absence of internal thought from Jean de Coras in the film. His decision to
refrain from charging Bertrande, despite previous cases which suggested that she should be, is a
pertinent part of the story and yet there is no mention of the struggle he faced in his head. At the end
of the film, the narrator simply states, The Counselor, Jean de Coras, impressed by this daring
imposture, made a record of it. Twelve years later came the St. Bartholomew Massacre. For his
Protestant beliefs, Jean de Coras was hung before the Toulouse Parliament with a hundred of his
friends (2:00:20). Because the Protestant belief is more relaxed on crimes committed by Bertrande
adultery, for example than the Catholic religion, one can infer that this is why Coras did not prosecute
the woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coras, in his account of the trial, proclaims that Bertrande was easily duped because of the weakness
of her sex, easily deceived by the cunning and craftiness of men (Davis, p. 110). Since Davis reveals
that the judge certainly held some women in high regard, such as his wife and daughter, his reasoning
he gives for letting Bertrande walk is rather unconvincing; his use of gender stereotypes is merely a
ploy to disguise his religious beliefs and his acceptance that women such as Bertrande were intuitive,
despite the attempts of men to make them seem inferior. Without this context in the film, it is difficult
to truly see the significance of the story as it pertains to gender

Tax Reform Plan Essay

But opponents of the plan said working families would not benefit from the legislation, which would

West Virginia taxpayers deserve a tax cut so that they can keep more of their hard earned money, he
said. The plan released today will lower rates on taxpayers, including small businesses which are the
back bone of West Virginia s economy.
Rep. Evan Jenkins, R W.Va., said the plan will allow West Virginia businesses to grow and its
employees to also benefit.
Many West Virginians are struggling after our state s economic downturn, and they deserve to keep
more of what they earn, he said.
The Joint Committee on Taxation reported under the bill, the federal deficit would increase by more

the bill also put investors over workers.

West Virginians do best, he said, bring people together and find common ground so that we can get
something done.
Marr said while the tax rate for high income earners will remain at 39.6 percent, they will ultimately

Electric Car Advantages And Disadvantages
Coffman, Makena, Paul Bernstein, and Sherilyn Wee. Electric vehicles revisited: a review of factors
that affect adoption. Transport Reviews, vol. 37, no. 1, (2017): 79 93. This article discusses the factors
that has effected electric car adoption. The main claim the author makes is electric car adoption is
declining through high costs, range anxiety, judgement of peers and consumer characteristics. The first
reason is the cost of owning the electric car vehicle. He uses research studies that have been done to
describe how important cost is when considering adopting the electric car. Costs must be relatively
similar to internal combustion cars. The authors analyzed a survey where consumers mentioned if they
have to pay higher prices over time, they expect a luxury type of vehicle. The second reason the
authors give is driving range and charging time is another factor electric car adoption is declining. To
support this reason, researchers have conducted more surveys specifically in urban areas, to find out
how many people are concerned with the driving range of an electric vehicle. Most respondents
mention how the electric car is a major disadvantage when it comes to driving range. The third reason
has to do with consumer characteristics. To support this reason, they mentioned several studies
showing that consumers with a high education level correlated with the likelihood of purchasing an
electric car vehicle. They also mentioned through different surveys that were conducted, consumers
were most concerned with utility of the car, not the environmental impact electric cars would have. A
fourth reason is consumers are concerned with social norms and the opinions of others when it comes
to owning an electric vehicle. To support this reason, they also use surveys that ask consumers what
they think of owning an electric car vehicle and what they might think of others owning one. They
believe owning an electric car shows someone s prestige. Through surveys, they discovered people
view electric car vehicle owners as intelligent, responsible people who support the environment. The
fifth reason is raising awareness. To support this reason, surveys were given and it showed that
consumers are not told about the

The Value Of Financial Ratio Analysis
When the economy expands, most industries and companies benefit and grow with it and the reverse
is true, that is why it is important for analysts or even individual investors to keep an eye on the
economy to determine when it is going to be beneficial for them to invest their money. The economic
environment indicators assist these investors in determining the state of the economy. In this paper, I
will describe the methods used to assess the macroeconomic environment, discuss the value of
financial ratio analysis in the context of common stock investing and compare intrinsic value and

Employment indicators
The unemployment rate measures the rate at which the economy is operating at full capacity. It also
has its roots embedded in the great depression when the rate reached about 25% (rbcpa.com). The
unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed workers in the entire labor force
(Bodie, et al, 2011). When people are unemployed the economy loses their contribution in terms of
goods and services. The increase in the percentage of unemployed indicates the extent of economic
hardship faced by the nation, therefore it is important for policymakers to know the number of
unemployed workers in an economy in order to make better decisions in regards to the growth of the
economy.
Government fiscal and monetary policy
Fiscal policy is the ability of the federal government to increase and decrease its spending, if
government spending is zero, there will limited economic growth (Mitchell, 2005). Current
government borrowing shifts the burden to future generations to repay debt. An example of how this
policy has been used in the past to improve the economy is when the Federal Reserve System lowered
its discount rate and in early 2008 Congress passed the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 (govtrack.us).
The legislation gave taxpayers a tax rebate in the form of a check up to $600 for single filers, $1200
for married couples filing jointly (cnn.com). The hope was that consumers would take these checks
and spend them to help keep the economy moving

The Effects Of Violent Media On Children And Youth
Essentially since media is more violent than ever, and children and youth are getting more attracted to
violent media. Studies on violent media shows a clear evidence that violence on media rises the
possibility of aggressive behaviors in both short term and long term situations (Rowell Huesmann,
Moise, Podolski, Eron, 2003). Most researchers agree that aggressive behaviors are more disposed to
the harmful impact of violence on media. The negative effect is much larger for younger children
because they are not able to to differentiate the imaginary from reality. In addition, Bushman (1995)
argued that only particular type of children and youth were negatively influenced by violent media
these are labelled as high aggressive personalities. Aggressive minded individuals fascinate by
aggression more than non aggressive personalites. Children who heavily exposure to violent media are
more likely to act in an aggressive way toward others. Violent media is a risk factor that put children
and youth in a high risk of developing aggressive behaviors that may last into their adulthood (Rowell
Huesmann, Moise, Podolski, Eron, (2003). Therefore, parents have wanted to understand the negative
impact of violent media, particularly on children, adolescents, and youth. Thus, this paper underlines
some negative effects of violent media on individuals.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways, which requires treatment using
bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroids. Inhalation route is the most direct and efficient way to
deliver high amount of drugs to the airways with least systematic side effects. Improper use of the
inhaler device is one of the most common reasons for poor asthma control as it can reduce
effectiveness and the amount of drugs reaches to the airways (AL Jahdali et al. 2013). SIGN (2016)
and NICE (2013) recommend that when initiate any new inhaler, patients should be trained on proper

(2013) addressed the severity caused by improper inhaler technique. In the study, majority patients
were using pMDI and almost half of the sample population did not receive education on inhaler
technique by any healthcare providers. Patients without any education were more likely to use inhaler
improperly and improper inhaler technique led to irregular follow ups, poor asthma control and more
emergency department visits. Therefore, inhaler technique education is crucial for asthma patients.
Llic et al. (2016) conducted a study assessing the influence of dry powder inhaler technique education
on the control of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). During the study,
patients visited pulmonologists once a month for 3 months, at each visit patients were educated on
inhaler technique and the pulmonologists assessed patients disease control using the global
assessment. The result from the study showed that patients obtained significant improvement in
inhaler technique and disease control after each visit at the pulmonologists. This study further
supported the importance of inhaler technique education on respiratory disease control and suggested
that educate patients on inhaler technique should be considered to achieve better disease control. On
the other hand, there were studies that investigated the role of pharmacists on patients inhaler
technique education and the benefit from it. Giraud et al. (2011) conducted a study aiming to
investigate the possibility of inhaler training by pharmacists and the impact on asthma control. The
study result showed that the majority patients did not receive optimal inhaler technique education
from the prescribers before pharmacists counselling. However, Patients had improved in inhaler
technique and asthma control after pharmacists educational intervention. Moreover, inhaler training by
pharmacists took relatively short period of time, which could match with daily practice.

Sports Persuasive Research Paper
North Sydney Bears and Mounties could not be separated for the second time this season, battling it
out for a 34 all entertaining affair.
Mounties scored two tries in the final four minutes, and Mitch Cornish locked up the scores on the
fulltime buzzer with an outstanding conversion from out wide.
Cornish and Cody Walker stood out for their respective teams in a game that had twelve tries, a sin
binning, a Latrell Schaumkel hatrick, and a controversial yet exciting final five minutes.
This match marked the return Kirisome Auva a, who positively contributed by setting up two tries and
scoring one himself.
Cornish threw a great pass for Gus Aiga to score the first try of the afternoon, and then were

Walker dropped the ball off the kickoff and Mounties took full advantage through Stewart Mills, who
was hit a hole after receiving a Cornish pass.
Mounties led 10 6 after 25 minutes and had been the dominant side, but they would concede 16 points
before they would next touch the ball.
Auva a put his stamp on the game when he made a powerful linebreak and fended off a defender in his
30 metre raid, before passing the ball off to Schaumkel to score his second try.
Off the kickoff set, Auva a was in on the action again when he found some space down the left edge
and got a magic ball to Walker who was steaming through. Walker darted away and passed the ball to
Schaumkel who completed his hatrick after just 29 minutes.
Darren Nicholls scored their third consecutive try when he spun out of the defensive line to burst
through and put the ball down.
Nicholls converted his own try to complete what was nothing less than a Bears rampage, and 22 10

God Does Not Exist Research Paper
God is known as the creator of our world; and our creator is known as being all powerful, all knowing,
and all good. If our creator is all powerful, all knowing, and all good, then why is there evil in the
world? The definition of evil states that something is morally bad, or harmful. How can something
like this exist and still have an all good God? Does this mean that God does not exist? Is evil even
real? The problem of evil is an atheistic argument to show that God, in fact, does not exist. In this
paper I will argue that evil does exist in this world by the support of the Holiness and Underachiever
Problem.
The argument is as follows: 1. If God if all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil would not
exist. 2. Evil exists. 3. Therefore, God does not exist.
I want to start off by presenting the arguments of theodicy and what they have to say as to why evil
exists. Theodicy is the attempt to reconcile the existence of evil in the world with the idea that God
exists and is all powerful, all knowing, and all good (Sober). Arguments regarding theodicy try to
refute the second premise (2).
Theists believe that there are two types of evils: Ones brought on by nature, and others by humans.
Earthquakes and other natural disasters are evils prevailed by nature, while evils brought into
existence by humans has to be some form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can we stay within the limit of soul building if we have choice of our own actions? For example,
lets say that a person had just lost their parent due to murder. Their grief of losing their parent would
be enough to strengthen their character. But, what if after years of grieving, this person goes on a hunt
to find the person that killed their parent? Once he finds the person, he murders them and is sent to
jail. This would go beyond the minimum for soul building. This person had the choice of good or evil.
They ultimately chose evil. This supports the third premise

Oil in Alaska
When oil was discovered on the north slope of Alaska, congress was faced with another Indian
problem. Just how was it going to send an 800 mile pipeline right through the middle of Indigenous
lands successfully without completely ignoring Native rights? ANCSA was the answer to that
question. In 1971, due to ANCSA, 100 shares were given to every Alaska Native that could prove they
had a quarter blood of Alaska Native heritage and lived in a local traditional Alaskan native village.
These shares were considered payment for the pipeline. However they did not take on the form of
money like most lands do. These land shares could not be traded or sold. They could only be handed
down through inheritance. The federal government also put a requirement on the ANCSA formed
corporations which were to turn a profit. This was a way for the federal government to ensure
economic advance. The way the federal government would ensure this is, if the ANCSA formed
corporation could not turn a profit, the federal government could go in and seize the land and
dismantle the corporation for breaching their duty to profit the land. Not only was this a way of
ensuring economic advance but it was another way the federal government could gain land. Because
of these steep requirements some native lands have been seized by the federal government, and those
who have not already been lost have either gone bankrupt or merged with other ANCSA corporations
to keep their land. Other native corporations have

majority of the promises, the national government faced a financial crisis being unable to fund itself,
India s northern territories were at war with militant uprisings, and India s ever expanding population

Clarification Request Strategy
Clarification: when using the clarification request strategy, the teacher basically delivers a message to
the student, indicating that there s an error in his utterance, so that the teacher s repeating is required.
When I teach English, I make extensive use of this method, because it (similar to explicit correction)
immediately signals the student that he made a mistake, and that he should correct himself. Another
reason I think this strategy works, is that it puts the student in a situation where you are indicating that
he had made a mistake, but you, as a teacher, do not explain to him what it is, but let him deal with
this question himself, and correct himself alone.
Repetition: this strategy, of repeating the student error in other intonation (usually a questioning one)
to alert the student that he made a mistake, is a significant and beneficial strategy, especially when the
amendment is made in front of the class. Humans can identify intonation, as well as the ... Show more

By indicating mistakes in the student s utterance with explicit correction, the teacher can correct the
students to use to right form. explicit correction helped me a lot when I started to learn the Dutch
language. I learned in a group of five people, and at the beginning of each meeting, everyone in the
group had to say a sentence about himself. When one of us was wrong syntax, grammar or vocabulary,
the instructor would correct him, to understand where was the mistake and how to correct it. In
addition, I think that explicit correction is a good and meaningful learning strategy, because the
students get a real time correction, in context to what they read. That kind of correction allows the
teacher to ask the student to repeat what he said but in the correct

Perks Of Being A Wallflower Reflection
The summer before 7th grade I was introduced to the movie, Perks Of Being A Wallflower, by
Stephen Chbosky. I label this movie the most influential piece of art that I have ever been exposed to
as it allowed me to familiarize myself with characters who held traits I d recognized in myself long
before but hadn t gotten the opportunity to learn. The movie followed an incoming high school
freshman, Charlie, and a group of outcast seniors he befriended Sam, Patrick, Mary Elizabeth, and
Alice all of whom, were characters who helped shape me into the person I am today.
Gay. I had heard the word before when I was younger, maybe eight or nine years old, from a sixth
grader who had been spewing forbidden words left and right. I remember asking them ... Show more

Instead of only watching the movie because I wanted a sense comfort I had struggled in finding
before, I watched it with a more mature mindframe. One of the key components in Perks Of Being A
Wallflower is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the movie the characters put on a live performance
of Rocky Horror weekly. The show plays a big part in some of the characters lives and it started to
play a huge role in mine once I payed more attention to it. The more I watched and listened to the
story the more I was intrigued. Rocky Horror brought on a lot of firsts for me. It was the first musical I
had watched all the way through and enjoyed everything I saw. This lead me to find some of my
favorite shows and movies today, like RENT and Glee. Rocky Horror also introduced me to the first
transgender character I d ever seen. Granted, Dr. Frank N Furter probably wasn t the best role model
for a fourteen year old, but I was mesmerized by the sheer existence of a happy community existing of
people who were outcasts and shunned away from society. Rocky Horror also showed in depth how
people can change when exposed to new things. Rocky Horror Picture Show starts with a conservative
couple, Brad and Janet, who are terrified to be anywhere around a house full of transgender people
and by the end of it they come out non judgemental and tolerant. It s a prime example of how you can

Descriptive Essay On The Bluebells
THE PODGERS
When you are fast asleep in bed and all in the garden is quiet, the Podgers eat their grass soup and
their pea pod sandwiches, put on their leaf coats, and come out from the hedges where they live. Each
one has a pot of paint and a tiny paintbrush, and they set to work. For it is the Podgers job to paint the
flowers in your garden. So when you wake up in the morning and look out of your window, all the
flowers have lovely colours. Except of course the bluebells, which are blue, and the daffodils which
are all yellow. First let me tell you about the bluebells.

Estrangement in Joseph Conrad s Amy Foster and in Rebecca West s The Return of the Soldier
The concept of male estrangement in an alien environment is portrayed in both Joseph Conrad s short
story, Amy Foster, as well as in Rebecca West s book, The Return of the Soldier. First, there are
adverse reactions to the male protagonists placement in their environments. The reactions vary
between the protagonists and the people they come into contact with. Second, there are similarities
and differences between the way the two authors chose to explore the situations presented. Third, both
protagonists handle their estrangement differently. It is hard to behave appropriately when you are
among peculiar customs.

This causes him to develop A complete case of amnesia...His unconscious self is refusing to let him
resume his relations with his normal life, and so we get this loss of memory (West 79). In a sense,
Chris becomes trapped in his past. Fifteen years earlier to be precise. Because of his amnesia, Chris
responds to the reality of his current life with a sort of disbelief. For example, when his wife Kitty is
mentioned, he replies: I haven t got a wife! Has some woman been turning up with a cock and bull
story of being my wife? Because it s the damnedest lie! (West 20). Of course his wife has her own
take on the entire matter, and one that is hardly full of sympathy and support. For example, West
writes on page 31: ...her pink mouth went on manufacturing malice. This is all a blind, she said at the
end of an unpardonable sentence. He s pretending... . Kitty refuses to accept the current situation, and
views it with a sort of vindictiveness. In both situations, the protagonist is alienated, and in both
situations, others treat the protagonist harshly.
The people involved in the harsh behavior are not consistent in both stories. In Amy Foster, the people
conducting themselves in a harsh manner are the average citizens with which Yanko Goorall has
contact. For example, there is the milkman, who whipped at Yanko; Mrs. Finn, who berated Yanko
with an umbrella; and Mrs. Smith who failed to ever trust Yanko. There are

Founded in 1906, it currently employs over 140,000 people and had over 21 million dollars in revenue for the 2013 fiscal year (Xerox, 2014). With operations in over 180 countries, Xerox Services is one of the largest business process outsourcing companies in the world. Structured into many different smaller entities based on the industry it serves, the call center operations portion of this business is the backbone of Xerox s services for the last 40 years (Chesbrough, Rosenbloom, 2002). Xerox currently operates several hundred call centers that handle both incoming and outgoing customer service and sales calls for its vast amount of clients. This company is setup in a very large vertical structure that starts with the CEO and works its way down to its front line agents and employees. All decisions are filtered from the top to the bottom and all requested approvals must originate from below and make their way up the company hierarchy. This type of structure relies heavily on middle management to execute directives and monitor their frontline resources to ensure they are being productive. This reliance on a large pool of middle managers to run day to day operations makes this type of structure very large in size as well as expensive from a payroll perspective. The students typically move out and begin to experience adulthood for the first time and often the first time one can begin to make their own decisions. This also a very stressful times for students as they must deal with the stress of their school work, internships, living on their own, and in some cases deal with the effects of sexual assault. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all college campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of 1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25 percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults. Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such as programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh her article, REACTIVE TO PROACTIVE: TITLE IX S UNREALIZED CAPACITY TO PREVENT CAMPUS SEXUAL ASSAULT, Only two programs have rigorous evidence of effectiveness for preventing sexual violence: Safe Dates and the building level intervention of Shifting Boundaries. • 7. I Am A Normal Human Being First and foremost, I believe that I am a normal human being. I don t consider myself to be out of the ordinary except for my love of Prince, but if you don t like Prince or his music, can you even call yourself a human? I digress, I thought that going into this assignment I would find out more interesting things about myself, however, I learned quickly that that wasn t really the case. See, what was interesting to me was very boring and weird to others, especially my friends that aren t in theater. When I would go up to them and explain the new things that I am doing, they would kind of just look at me and secretly judge, but it also let me know that I was enjoying learning more about myself. All my life I knew that I was flexible jointed and that I could do a lot of things such as putting my leg over my head and interlocking my arms and moving them all around my body without breaking that lock, but I also discovered that I could do other things without even noticing them. For instance, I tend to bounce my knee whenever I am really into a story that I am telling, but also whenever I am really passionate about something. Another thing that I noticed is that when I sit, I sway from side to side or front to back, but I just have to be in motion. It s just something that allows me to burn off the extra energy that is within me. I think that all the little things I do, such as leading with my left foot and having my right face outward as I walk explains why it kind of looks like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Choosing Of A Landfill Site The Choosing of a Landfill Site There is currently much debate on the desirability of landfilling particular wastes, the practicability of alternatives such as waste minimisation or pre treatment, the extent of waste pre treatment required, and of the most appropriate landfilling strategies for the final residues. This debate is likely to stimulate significant developments in landfilling methods during the next decade. Current and proposed landfill techniques are described in this information sheet. Types of landfill Landfill techniques are dependent upon both the type of waste and the landfill management strategy. This strategy is the most commonly used for nuclear wastes and hazardous wastes. It is also used in some countries for MSW and other non hazardous but polluting wastes. B) Containment and collection of leachate Inflow of water is controlled but not prevented entirely, and leakage is minimised or prevented, by a low permeability basal liner and by removal of leachate. This is the most common strategy currently for MSW landfills in developed countries. The duration of a pollution risk is dependent on the rate of water flow through the wastes. Because it requires active leachate management there is currently much interest in accelerated leaching to shorten this timescale from what could be centuries to just a few decades. C) Controlled contaminant release The top cover and basal liner are designed and constructed to allow generation and leakage of leachate at a calculated, controlled rate. An environmental assessment is always necessary to that the impact of the emitted leachate is acceptable. No active leachate control measures are used. Such sites are only suitable in certain locations and for certain wastes. A typical example would be a landfill in a coastal location, receiving an inorganic waste such as bottom ash from MSW incineration. D) Unrestricted contaminant release No control is exerted over either the inflow or the outflow of water. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Theme Of Duality In The Lifted Veil By George Eliot Published in 1859, The lifted Veil by George Eliot is an enthralling and complex tale of the supernatural. George Eliot, actually Mary Anne Evans by birth, was a leading novelist, editor, and critic of the Victorian era who went by a pen name, so she could write freely without the pressures of following the conventions of female writers. The short story she wrote is set predominantly in England and revolves around the conflicts that Latimer, the second son of a wealthy middle class banker, experiences during the course of his life both ordinary and extraordinary. The most notable element of the story is the emergence of Latimer s superadded awareness which allows him both the ability to read the minds of others who are nearby and to experience highly detailed visions of the future. This mental power creates a multitude of unusual conflicts which Eliot uses to characterize Latimer and his split conscious through her employment of duality in the story. The theme of duality manifests itself early in the story providing foreshadowing for Latimer s future supernatural ability. During childhood, Latimer was regarded as a very sensitive child (Eliot 5) not displaying the typical hardy qualities typical of a male. When young Latimer witnessed the loud noises of his father s estate like the trampling of the horses on the pavement in the echoing stables (Eliot 5) or the booming bark of the dogs (Eliot 5), he reacted in a dual nature experiencing both a mingled trepidation and delicious excitement (Eliot 5). This strange mix of fear and joy felt by Latimer highlights the odd aspect of Latimer s character in which he struggles between which side of the metaphorical heads or tails of a coin he desires. The passage also accentuates the delicate quality of his mind that allows for his dual consciousness to emerge later in the story by mentioning that the loud noises made me sob and tremble ... I longed for them to come back again (Eliot 5). Latimer s powerful attunement with even the most ordinary of loud sounds reveals a supernatural element about him that hungers for stimulation. As Latimer reaches the age of sixteen, he is sent by his father to Geneva to continue his rational studies abroad. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Puritan Citizen In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Throughout the novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne develops compelling characters that are starkly different from the normal Puritan citizen. The novel mainly focuses on Hester, a Puritan woman living in New England, and the story of her affair and how it affects her life and the lives of those around her. Puritan citizens are illustrated as stern, dreary characters, but Hawthorne brings up sin, love, and hate even in the characters who are seemingly the most rigid when it comes to Puritan lifestyle. Chillingworth, Hester, and Pearl of the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne display complex character traits, including admiration, honesty, and loneliness. Hester s daughter, Pearl, has distinct characteristics that make her a major character in this novel. In the text, Hawthorne reveals that Pearl feels isolated from society, and has to go through any struggles in her life alone. Chillingworth admires Hester for her great qualities. He says that she could have met a better man and lived a better life if this sin and evil had not taken place and can see that her good qualities were wasted when she married him. • 11. Kohlberg s Six Stages Of Moral Development 1. Goldman Sachs should have been punished for its behavior in the years leading up to the financial crisis. Goldman ended up settling with the federal government for $110 Billion, which I do not believe was sufficient based on the magnitude of problems created. This amount should have been much larger, and at minimum they should have forfeited the $14 Billion paid to them by AIG. (Inside Job, 2011) In addition, AIG should have had the right to sue Goldman Sachs for fraud. It was in the public s best interest to keep Goldman up and running, however additional penalties could have been put on a repayment schedule to keep them solvent. Instead, you had Goldman giving out large bonuses. Executives and those responsible for misdeeds should have been subject to significant clawbacks of compensation. If the reason they misbehaved and took inappropriate risks was to raise compensation, losing that compensation would be an appropriate punishment. 2. Kohlberg s six stages of moral development can be applied to corporations. Corporations are made up of individuals, and the corporate culture can contribute to an individual s moral decision making. Mintz tells us that an individual s moral development can be influenced by corporate culture, especially ethics training. (p. 58) Since the corporate culture can so heavily influence individual ethical decision making, the stage of moral development of the corporation is important. An example of Stage 2 preconventional moral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people view leadership as the focus of group processes, some others view it from a personality or skills perspective, to some others leadership is an act or behavior, some school of thought describe leadership in terms of power relationship while some view leadership as a transformational process (Northouse, 2012). • 14. Heart Attacks Or Myocardial Infarctions According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart attack. Of these, 525,000 are a first heart attack and 210,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack (CDC, 2015). Heart attacks or myocardial infarctions (MI) can be fatal if appropriate steps and protocols are not followed soon after the onset. It requires critical thinking by nurses and the health care team to reduce the damage to the heart and prevent death. Every year 425,000 people in the United States die from a MI (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 831, 2013). Key nursing interventions, and implications will be emphasized as well as common complications that may occur. Pathophysiology Myocardial infarction is defined as irreversible necrosis of myocardial tissue as a result of inadequate blood flow for a critical period of time. (Duksta Younker, 2012). A MI occurs when cardiac tissue is suddenly deprived of oxygen. Most MIs are the result of atherosclerosis of a coronary artery, rupture of the plaque, subsequent thrombosis, and occlusion of blood flow (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 829, 2013). When there is a blood flow reduction in the heart of 80% to 90%, ischemia occurs, which can be followed by necrosis of cardiac tissue if blood flow is not reestablished. His decision to refrain from charging Bertrande, despite previous cases which suggested that she should be, is a pertinent part of the story and yet there is no mention of the struggle he faced in his head. At the end of the film, the narrator simply states, The Counselor, Jean de Coras, impressed by this daring imposture, made a record of it. Twelve years later came the St. Bartholomew Massacre. For his Protestant beliefs, Jean de Coras was hung before the Toulouse Parliament with a hundred of his friends (2:00:20). Transport Reviews, vol. 37, no. 1, (2017): 79 93. This article discusses the factors that has effected electric car adoption. The main claim the author makes is electric car adoption is declining through high costs, range anxiety, judgement of peers and consumer characteristics. The first reason is the cost of owning the electric car vehicle. He uses research studies that have been done to describe how important cost is when considering adopting the electric car. Costs must be relatively similar to internal combustion cars. The authors analyzed a survey where consumers mentioned if they have to pay higher prices over time, they expect a luxury type of vehicle. The second reason the authors give is driving range and charging time is another factor electric car adoption is declining. To support this reason, researchers have conducted more surveys specifically in urban areas, to find out how many people are concerned with the driving range of an electric vehicle. Most respondents mention how the electric car is a major disadvantage when it comes to driving range. The third reason has to do with consumer characteristics. To support this reason, they mentioned several studies showing that consumers with a high education level correlated with the likelihood of purchasing an electric car vehicle. They also mentioned through different surveys that were conducted, consumers were most concerned with utility of the car, not the environmental impact electric cars would have. A fourth reason is consumers are concerned with social norms and the opinions of others when it comes to owning an electric vehicle. To support this reason, they also use surveys that ask consumers what they think of owning an electric car vehicle and what they might think of others owning one. They believe owning an electric car shows someone s prestige. Through surveys, they discovered people view electric car vehicle owners as intelligent, responsible people who support the environment. The fifth reason is raising awareness. To support this reason, surveys were given and it showed that consumers are not told about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also has its roots embedded in the great depression when the rate reached about 25% (rbcpa.com). When people are unemployed the economy loses their contribution in terms of goods and services. The increase in the percentage of unemployed indicates the extent of economic hardship faced by the nation, therefore it is important for policymakers to know the number of unemployed workers in an economy in order to make better decisions in regards to the growth of the economy. Government fiscal and monetary policy Fiscal policy is the ability of the federal government to increase and decrease its spending, if government spending is zero, there will limited economic growth (Mitchell, 2005). Studies on violent media shows a clear evidence that violence on media rises the possibility of aggressive behaviors in both short term and long term situations (Rowell Huesmann, Moise, Podolski, Eron, 2003). Most researchers agree that aggressive behaviors are more disposed to the harmful impact of violence on media. The negative effect is much larger for younger children because they are not able to to differentiate the imaginary from reality. In addition, Bushman (1995) argued that only particular type of children and youth were negatively influenced by violent media these are labelled as high aggressive personalities. Aggressive minded individuals fascinate by aggression more than non aggressive personalites. Children who heavily exposure to violent media are more likely to act in an aggressive way toward others. Violent media is a risk factor that put children and youth in a high risk of developing aggressive behaviors that may last into their adulthood (Rowell Huesmann, Moise, Podolski, Eron, (2003). Improper use of the inhaler device is one of the most common reasons for poor asthma control as it can reduce effectiveness and the amount of drugs reaches to the airways (AL Jahdali et al. 2013). Patients without any education were more likely to use inhaler improperly and improper inhaler technique led to irregular follow ups, poor asthma control and more emergency department visits. Therefore, inhaler technique education is crucial for asthma patients. Llic et al. (2016) conducted a study assessing the influence of dry powder inhaler technique education on the control of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). During the study, patients visited pulmonologists once a month for 3 months, at each visit patients were educated on inhaler technique and the pulmonologists assessed patients disease control using the global assessment. The result from the study showed that patients obtained significant improvement in inhaler technique and disease control after each visit at the pulmonologists. This study further supported the importance of inhaler technique education on respiratory disease control and suggested that educate patients on inhaler technique should be considered to achieve better disease control. On the other hand, there were studies that investigated the role of pharmacists on patients inhaler technique education and the benefit from it. Giraud et al. • 25. God Does Not Exist Research Paper God is known as the creator of our world; and our creator is known as being all powerful, all knowing, and all good. If our creator is all powerful, all knowing, and all good, then why is there evil in the world? The definition of evil states that something is morally bad, or harmful. How can something like this exist and still have an all good God? Does this mean that God does not exist? Is evil even real? The problem of evil is an atheistic argument to show that God, in fact, does not exist. In this paper I will argue that evil does exist in this world by the support of the Holiness and Underachiever Problem. The argument is as follows: 1. If God if all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil would not exist. 2. Evil exists. 3. Therefore, God does not exist. I want to start off by presenting the arguments of theodicy and what they have to say as to why evil exists. Theodicy is the attempt to reconcile the existence of evil in the world with the idea that God exists and is all powerful, all knowing, and all good (Sober). Arguments regarding theodicy try to refute the second premise (2). Theists believe that there are two types of evils: Ones brought on by nature, and others by humans. Earthquakes and other natural disasters are evils prevailed by nature, while evils brought into existence by humans has to be some form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just how was it going to send an 800 mile pipeline right through the middle of Indigenous lands successfully without completely ignoring Native rights? ANCSA was the answer to that question. In 1971, due to ANCSA, 100 shares were given to every Alaska Native that could prove they had a quarter blood of Alaska Native heritage and lived in a local traditional Alaskan native village. These shares were considered payment for the pipeline. However they did not take on the form of money like most lands do. These land shares could not be traded or sold. They could only be handed down through inheritance. The federal government also put a requirement on the ANCSA formed corporations which were to turn a profit. This was a way for the federal government to ensure economic advance. The way the federal government would ensure this is, if the ANCSA formed corporation could not turn a profit, the federal government could go in and seize the land and dismantle the corporation for breaching their duty to profit the land. Not only was this a way of ensuring economic advance but it was another way the federal government could gain land. Clarification Request Strategy Clarification: when using the clarification request strategy, the teacher basically delivers a message to the student, indicating that there s an error in his utterance, so that the teacher s repeating is required. When I teach English, I make extensive use of this method, because it (similar to explicit correction) immediately signals the student that he made a mistake, and that he should correct himself. Another reason I think this strategy works, is that it puts the student in a situation where you are indicating that he had made a mistake, but you, as a teacher, do not explain to him what it is, but let him deal with this question himself, and correct himself alone. Repetition: this strategy, of repeating the student error in other intonation (usually a questioning one) to alert the student that he made a mistake, is a significant and beneficial strategy, especially when the amendment is made in front of the class. Rocky Horror also introduced me to the first transgender character I d ever seen. Granted, Dr. Frank N Furter probably wasn t the best role model for a fourteen year old, but I was mesmerized by the sheer existence of a happy community existing of people who were outcasts and shunned away from society. Rocky Horror also showed in depth how people can change when exposed to new things. Rocky Horror Picture Show starts with a conservative couple, Brad and Janet, who are terrified to be anywhere around a house full of transgender people and by the end of it they come out non judgemental and tolerant. It s a prime example of how you can shift someone who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Estrangement in Joseph Conrad s Amy Foster and in Rebecca West s The Return of the Soldier The concept of male estrangement in an alien environment is portrayed in both Joseph Conrad s short story, Amy Foster, as well as in Rebecca West s book, The Return of the Soldier. First, there are adverse reactions to the male protagonists placement in their environments. The reactions vary between the protagonists and the people they come into contact with. Second, there are similarities and differences between the way the two authors chose to explore the situations presented. Third, both protagonists handle their estrangement differently. It is hard to behave appropriately when you are among peculiar customs. It seems ironic that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This causes him to develop A complete case of amnesia...His unconscious self is refusing to let him resume his relations with his normal life, and so we get this loss of memory (West 79). In a sense, Chris becomes trapped in his past. Fifteen years earlier to be precise. Because of his amnesia, Chris responds to the reality of his current life with a sort of disbelief. For example, when his wife Kitty is mentioned, he replies: I haven t got a wife! Has some woman been turning up with a cock and bull story of being my wife? Because it s the damnedest lie! (West 20). Of course his wife has her own take on the entire matter, and one that is hardly full of sympathy and support. For example, West writes on page 31: ...her pink mouth went on manufacturing malice. This is all a blind, she said at the end of an unpardonable sentence. He s pretending... . Kitty refuses to accept the current situation, and views it with a sort of vindictiveness. In both situations, the protagonist is alienated, and in both situations, others treat the protagonist harshly. The people involved in the harsh behavior are not consistent in both stories. In Amy Foster, the people conducting themselves in a harsh manner are the average citizens with which Yanko Goorall has contact. For example, there is the milkman, who whipped at Yanko; Mrs. Finn, who berated Yanko with an umbrella; and Mrs. Smith who failed to ever trust Yanko. There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Summary I chose to summarize this review article to understand the reasons behind exercising a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Prior to the reading, my knowledge of stress echos only covered the bases of diagnosing coronary artery disease. This review focuses on the patients subjective complaints and its correlation with sudden death from HCM. It s common for us to see patient with HCM and to preform valsalva maneuvers to check for LVOT obstruction with increased velocities. However, a new understanding leads me to believe that preforming a valsalva maneuver at rest may not always cause an obstruction of the LVOT. In this review study, to get a better understanding of patients with HCM, they now stress the patients to evaluate LVOT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
