Purpose Statement For Diabetes
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
According to International Diabetes Federation, approximately 592 million people worldwide
would be suffering from diabetes by 2035 and this would be a major economic burden to the
society globally. Detail knowledge of normal physiological processes at cellular and molecular
level will give me a better understanding in dealing with pathological conditions in human body.
Insight of the structure and function of organelles, chemical composition of enzymes, hormones,
their interaction and expression in structural and functional unit of life can significantly help in
bringing down morbidity and mortality associated with metabolic disorders like diabetes and
various other diseases. Grown up in a family of medical professionals, the curiosity to explore
various life processes was not only acquired but also inherent. I want to take a leap forward of
what my parents and grandparents practice and Cell and Molecular Physiology or Immunology as
major will surely make me accomplish in achieving my aim of life.
As a small child, I had seen the agony of patients and limitations of medical profession in dealing
with various illnesses. I had innumerable queries which were beyond my capability to understand ...

an orphan, emaciated child at AIDS rehabilitation centre. Fear, bigotry, anathema regarding AIDS
still prevail in our society resulting in infringement of fundamental human rights. Besides
medications, treatment and nutrition, sincere efforts should be made for rehabilitation of children

Disadvantages Of Child Soldiers
Introduction
For most of human history, war has generally been conceptualized as a domain of adults in
uniform. However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and
girls, are increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the
use of child soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be
today. According to international law, a child soldieris defined as any individual who is aged
below eighteen and part of an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child
combatants stands at 300,000 and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non
combat duties in the army. Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves
children fighters. The worrying situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young
as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as combatants on every continent but Antarctica. Given these
statistics, one can speculate that there may actually be underlying military advantages in using
children to fight wars, and this is exploited by those who employ them. This is the premise which I
base my research on. Adopting the understanding that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, humanitarian efforts are focused on impoverished countries ravaged by ongoing civil
wars and this is exactly where young combatants are prevalent. Therefore, the issue of child soldier

A New System Of The State Of Texas
Galveston was the leading port in the state of Texas and had a population of about 37,000 people
during the 1900. Being a city on the gulf coast, getting hit by a hurricane was expected.
Galveston has been hit with many hurricanes before but one particular hurricane almost wiped
out the whole city. On September 8th, 1900, a potent hurricane producing wind up to 120 miles
per hour and flooded the city with about 15 feet of water made landfall. The aftermath of the
hurricane was horrific, it broke the city down to rubbles and a few thousands of people lost their
lives. The city had a choice of either being wiped off the map from the hurricane s damage or to
start the rebuild process as soon as possible. Galveston chose to unite as one and... Show more

Although the plan was outstanding, it didn t last long due to all of the cites evolving into a council
manager form of government. A couple of actions they took to resolve their problems long term
was building a sea wall and also raising the entire city. The commissioners assigned engineers to
create a plan to protect Galveston from storms in the future. The engineers presented a two part
project: To break the forces of the waves, they recommended building a concrete seawall three
miles long from the south jetty across the eastern edge of the city and down the beach. To protect
the city from flooding, they proposed raising the level of the entire city by picking up most of the
structures in the city and filling in beneath them with sand. Taking these actions have certainly help
the people of Galveston survive through hurricanes. Galveston was in a position of needing as
much help as they could receive. With the plan of constructing a new sea wall, raising the city s
level, and also reconstructing the buildings that were destroyed from the hurricane, it was going to
cost huge amount of money to make this happen. Galveston received financial help from the
county, state and federal governments, a large portion of the burden had to be carried by the city
itself, at the expense of other projects. Even other states, cities, and countries contributed to
Galveston s rebuild by donating some money to the fund. The state

An Important Aspect Of Purchasing And Selling Goods Whether
An important aspect of purchasing and selling goods whether for trade or personal reasons is to
understand who bears the burden of damage to the goods. This is of great importance, but often
overlooked, determining when risk has passed from one party to the next establishes whether
the seller may still recover the full price of the damaged goods and the buyer be left with damaged
goods or not. In this short note we will briefly look at the consequences of not dealing with these
issues in your contract as well as some brief thoughts on how this may be avoided. WHAT DO WE
MEAN BY RISK PASSING AND WHEN DOES THIS HAPPEN? When we talk of the risk passing
to the buyer what is referred to is the burden of having to deal with the damaged goods.... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, in these types of contracts the risk does not pass until the goods described in the
contract are appropriated to the contract. That is, when the seller has set aside a specific 10
tonnes of maize to be bought by the buyer. Until the product has been appropriated to the
contract the seller is liable to replace the goods before they are entitled to the purchase price,
once they have been appropriated or distinguished the risk for damage passes to the buyer. What
if the sale is subject to a condition? For example suppose that the contract of sale for a buffalo
was made conditional on the buffalo being tested for, and being found free of, any disease (the
sale is suspended until the buffalo is found to be disease free) and the buffalo dies before this
can be determined. In situations like this the risk does not pass to the buyer until the condition
has been fulfilled. On fulfilment of the condition the risk becomes the buyers from the date of
conclusion of the sale. In the above scenario the risk has not yet passed to the buyer therefore the
seller bears the risk of the buffalo dying or being injured. The buyer does not have to pay the
price even when it is later determined that the buffalo was disease free. If the buffalo had been
injured or died after the condition was fulfilled (the vet finding that the buffalo was

Difference Between Modernist Drama And Realist Drama
This essay aims to show and discuss the ways in which modernist drama is different to realist
drama. To do this the essay will focus on the conventions of language and subject identity to show
how modernist drama challenges the ways of realist drama. This essay will first outline what
modernism is. It will then look at the conventions of both language and subject identity separately,
providing examples where needed. Finally, the essay will look at Pirandello s play and discuss
how it relates to the modernist dramastyle before concluding.
When something is considered contemporary or in style, it is considered to be modern. From the
late 18th century to the early 19th century there was a shift in history. There was a rise in
capitalist societies and an increase in industrial productivity. This created the start of modernity.
Macey (2001) refers to modernity as the period of the modern. The changes in the world
demanded a response from art. All forms of art had to create a new way of thought for this new
world. This is how modernism or the modernist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play Krapp s Last Tape by Beckett (1958) language is delivered to the audience in a new
way. The use of a tape recorder changes the way time in a play works. One can say that Beckett
found a way to loophole the fact that play s cannot have flashbacks. Krapp listens to his younger
self on his tape recorder and finds that some of the language used was now meaningless to his
older self. This shows that language is contextual. The language used in the stage directions are
quite unusual such as rusty black and wearish old man. While one can visualise what these words
mean, there is no standard definition for the words. In a play by Pinter (1985) called The Birthday
Party the characters often have meaningless or vague conversations. In the first act Meg repeatedly
asked Petey, Is that you? This shows the redundancy of some

The Fashion Industry In The Devil Wears Prada
It can be said that the Fashion industry is not for everyone, especially Anne Hathaway s character
in the 2006 Film The Devil Wears Prada. The fashion industry is one of the hardest business to

lots of resources that Anne Hathaways role, Andy Sachs learns quickly. As coming out of
Northwestern College as a journalist she lands a job with the magazine Runway as their junior
Assistant for the head editor and chef Miranda Priestly, who is played by the wonderful Meryl
Streep. Miranda could be described as strict, stern, demanding, and a overall perfectionist.
However, by the end of dealing with Mirandas demands for a year Andy can only hope she will
score a job as a reporter or writer else where, so the question is will she do it? When Andy begins
her job as the junior assistant you can definitely see that she struggles a lot. Andy walking in had
no sense of style, had no knowledge of what Runway Magazine was, and also had no idea that
many people had wanted her position at this company. In fact the first day that Andy arrives at
runway magazines home office she is absolutely appalled. Emily Charlton, Miranda s Senior

Symbolism In The Rabbits
The Rabbits The Rabbits, a picture book written by John Marsden and illustrated by Shaun Tan, is
an allegory for the British arriving in Australia and the subsequent colonisation. From the
perspective of the indigenous population, Marsden explores the impact of white settlement on the
traditional aboriginal way of life. This is achieved through the symbolism, colours and language.
Symbolism is used in many different ways to represent the colonisation of Australia. Numbats are a
benign native species and are used to symbolise the indigenous Australians who loved in harmony
with the land for more than 50 000 years, whereas rabbits symbolise the British as a destructive pest
that devastates the land. Towards the end of the story, kites are used to symbolise the stolen

Rich ochre and shades of blue show the natural colours of the Australian land. As the story
unfolds, the colouring becomes dull. Colours such as sepia are used to show the life being
drained from the Numbats as their way of life is taken from them by the rabbits. By the end of
the story, the pages are grey and almost colourless to represent the smog and pollution the effect of
the destruction that the rabbits have brought. The language is quite simple, which represents the
uncomplicated way Aboriginals lived their lives by their own ways and tradition. Their tradition
is evident through phrases such as many grandparents ago, and old people warned us. This shows
cultural difference and respect for generational knowledge. By using words like brought and new ,
it s obvious that the things the rabbits imported were causing damage, such as the pollution and
illness. On the last page of the book, a rhetorical question, Who will save us from the rabbits?
shows how overpowered and helpless the numbats

In fact, studies show that the more that files are shared digitally, the more printing is done
overall. It is just that the large reprographic shops are not doing the bulk of printing anymore.
The majority of printing is now handled at the end user level. Still, several software companies
have developed software that allows estimators to import a drawing, set a scale, and begin
measurements and takeoffs digitally. This works great in the office, but does not have a good
practical application in the field. In fact, we have joked that you can t set your monitor on the
hood of a truck. Ultimately the field crews need a physical drawing that they can reference at the
jobsite. So, instead of looking at a wide format plotter as an either/or proposition against takeoff
software, it should be considered as a complement component. How much more valuable would a
construction plan be in the field with notes and markups from the digital

Is it the truth that Donald Trumpjust wants to get rid of Mexicans but not other people who are

If you visited or lived in Mexico you ll see the differences. In Mexico, there isn t a lot of jobs for
people. Even if you have a diploma from a university they used to attend. For example, my aunt
studied about computers and graduated in 2014. Till this day she still hasn t found a job that
she studied for. Same thing with my cousin she studied for nutritionist and she couldn t find a
job so she decided to study to become a nurse. Also, the kids that are about nine or ten years old

reason why mexicans cross the border and live here in the United States because they want to

The Day Vesuvius Spoke
Jupiter was not pleased for Vesuvius had awakened after centuries of fuming quietly and
mustering it s strength to one day expel all of its anger that lie dormant beneath the surface.
Mount Vesuvius showered us in rage. Clouds of darkness barreled in and crowded the sky, ash
rained from the heavens, and fire engulfed the city. A day such as this could only be described as
Hell on Earth. For most, this was the beginning of the end.
I was awakened by the violent shake of our house and the smell of smoke that hung in the air
nearly suffocating me. Horror stricken I raced out of bed to the window to see everything
covered in ash and the only thing I could hear were the shrill screams and cries of my neighbors.
I made my way into the atrium only to find my mother weeping into her hands. I haven t seen her
so distraught since the day Papa died; her hair was disheveled, she was still in her night clothing,
and there was no sign of breakfast anywhere. Mother, what is it? I began to panic for fear of what
she might say and with every moment of silence that passed fear filled my heart and tears began to
form. It is Vesuvius, he has been disturbed. The Gods are not pleased with our people we all shall
soon perish. Emperor Titus has fled to a land in the far east and left us defenseless. Her face was
white and her eyes appeared as though she had spent all morning grieving the inevitable. Before I
could speak there was a knock at the door.

December 21, 1891 The birth of basketball. It has been changed from simply shooting a soccer
ball into a peach basket to dunking a seven pound, leather ball into an iron rim. In the early years

Although going third in the draft, he recreated the game and is known as the best player to ever

on to play in the NCAA championship against Georgetown University. Jordan hit the game

The Sustainable Measures Of Middle Eastern Heritage Buildings
The sustainable measures of Middle Eastern heritage buildings are limited, as well the international
green rating system versions are still unsuitable and unable to adapt the local conditions and
customs. Despite the Arab efforts to have their own rating systems, such as Abu Dhabi, Qatar and
Kuwait (Komurlu, Ruveyda, Asli Pelin Gurgun, and David Arditi 2015, Omar Attallah, Sherif,
Ahmad Senouci, Amr Kandil, and Hassan Al Derham 2013), sustainability in most Middle Eastern
countries is still deficient and facing many challenges presented by the lack of the cooperation and

Poet, author, and filmmaker Gary Soto did not always have an interest in literature. In fact, he
wasn t interested in learning about literature until his college years, when Soto took a look at a
poetry anthology while pushing off a research paper (Fabiano 279). According to author Charles
Tatum, Soto grew up in Fresno, California with his two parents and two siblings. He also lived a
childhood filled with sadness, loneliness, and poverty. (Tatum Vol. 1). Gary Soto got past his
isolated and upsetting childhood and became not only a successful poet and author, but would also
become known as one of the most multi talented and elite writers of his time.

Throughout elementary and high school, Soto was a below average student (Tatum Vol. 1). He
didn t really excel as a young adult, as his main goal was mainly to remain out of prison ( Small
Town with One Road Page 207). Although Gary was not the best student, he went a different
route than most other kids in his area, who joined the army or settled for some low paying job.
(Tatum Vol. 1). He instead attended California State University ( Small Town with One Road
207). Soto never had an interest in studying literature throughout all of high school, but one
occasion, while in college pushing off a research paper, Soto picked up a poetry anthology
(Fabiano 279). One poem that really spoke to him was a piece called, Unwanted, by Edward
Field, in which Soto realized that his alienation was not strange, but was actually very common
for a human to be in that condition (Tatum Vol. 1). This random decision to take a look at an
anthology of poetry would take a toll on Soto s life in ways he would have never imagined, and
completely changed him forever.
After discovering poetry, Soto fell in love with the art. Soto then took a poetry workshop at the
California State University at Fresno with Philip Levine, who showed him that he should use his
past experiences in his writing ( Small Town with One Road 207). In 1988, Soto said that Levine
was a master at teaching how to read poetry(Tatum Vol 1). He graduated from CSU at Fresno, in
1974 (Tatum Vol. 1). Later, Soto earned an

Methodology Qualitative And Qualitative Research
Methodology qualitative(300/5)(382/ )
In research the two main used approaches are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research
represents the study of perceptions, emotions and experiences in the direction of understanding the
human behaviour therefore from a subjective perspective ( R). On the other side the quantitative
research is expressed numerical, measurable, appropriate for statistics defined as being objective
and can be used for general public (R). Another difference, according to Moule (2015) is that
qualitative approach is usually using a smaller sampling size for the study than the quantitative
approach. As the qualitative research is inductive, the process is orientated and using a holistic
view, allows the researcher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Validity suggests the ability and degree of the method to measure the concept. More specific for the
qualitative study, the criteria refers to credibility and trustworthiness. Credibility is a principle of
trustworthiness and indicates the ability to answer the study question due to the quality of the
research undertaken and reflecting the participants perceptions rather than the researcher own
opinion and that the findings are trustworthy (Lincoln Guba 1985, cited in Corbin Strauss 2015).
Research design/methods/data collection(100/1)(143/3)
Focus group was the chosen data collection design by the PBL group. Polit Beck (2017) argued
that he benefits of this data collection include: cost effective and time effective; the participants feel
empowered which encourage them to express freely their emotions and opinions therefore is
enhanced the collection of rich data. The limitations associated with focus groups indicates to bias
potential; the level of confidence of some of the participants to express themselves in front of
others or the possibility to adopt the group think or the most powerful and vocal participant rather
than expressing own perception (Ellis 2016). Neuman (2014) believes that mixing the participants
with different status may impact on the study outcome as participants are more confident if they
are sharing a similar background. Therefore, it was decided that the participants will be split in two
focus groups: students

The Recovery Of Residual Oil From Reservoirs
Introduction
The recovery of residual oil from reservoirs is one of the major challenges faced by petroleum
industries. Based on the requirement of heat, EOR techniques have been divided into cold and hot
(thermal) recovery methods. Cold methods such as CHOPS, water / polymer flooding, microbial
injection, etc. doesn t require any additional heat which saves the cost of heat generation. On other
hand thermal methods like SAGD, CSS, steam flooding, fire flooding, etc. require more temperature
which results in higher recovery of oil. Even though, the technique of heating the formation through
low / high frequency resistive heaters have been recognised 3 decades ago, but it is still a
peripheral technology for EOR. Despite in the advancement of different EOR techniques, none of
them have proven to be economic, less energy exhaustive, and environment friendly.
Recently, Novas Energy Services have developed a tool that creates dense plasmawhen subjected
to high voltage up to few hundred Volts and propagate it inside the formation through elastic
waves. The produced plasma is not only utilized for cleaning bottom hole zone, but also used for
enhancing reservoir permeability and crude s flow ability. But due to inadequate sample of
equipment for generating plasma pulse, this tool is only used for pilot field experiments.
In this technical paper, a theoretical design of wire line CO2 plasma generating device is proposed
along with the blueprint of the mechanism of its execution.

Interior design provides answers that are both functional and attractive and enhance the quality of
life. Interior design reflects and interacts with the cultural background and traditional heritage of the
occupants.
The design process itself runs through a systematic and interactive methodology to create an
innovative and functional design solution whereby the needs and resources of the occupants are
satisfied.
To achieve a well designed environment many elements contribute together thus innovating the
overall theme like color, light, texture, etc. Interior design provides solutions for residential,

Noise
Noise is also a significant factor and indeed is a type of pollution which can negatively effect how
we feel. The constant drone of a computer or other machinery, electrical buzzing from refrigerators
or lights, traffic noise in the street outside, workmen nearby and so on, can increase the amount of
stress that the occupants feel and would do little to evoke feelings of wellbeing in any room.
Colour
A great deal of research has been conducted into the effect of colour, too much to go into here.
On a very basic level, red is intense and attracts attention; it is also associated with passion. Blue
is more relaxing and can evoke feelings of trust and reliability so is often used in business
settings. Green is linked with nature and is easy on the eye as opposed to yellow which can
strain the eye but at the same time can increase concentration. Paler colours are more likely to
enhance the perception of space in a room. The secret is to go for the colour that is perfectly in
tune with how it makes you feel in any particular room, you are the final judge.
Smell
Pleasant aromas can enhance the perceived beauty of a room and at the same time unpleasant
smells can spoil an otherwise perfect space. This is something that estate agents well know when
it comes to selling a property. The smell of fresh coffee and newly baked bread can make a home
feel more inviting whereas strong and pungent food odours do the opposite.

Service Delivery
The European Regional Development fund(2007) defined service delivery as the way of
distributing service to the service users or customers. For health managers like us it is the
distribution of intangible products like checkups. It is usually the most challenging pat since it is
hard to keep the services running at the same level of quality as the one done the first time.

Carter G. Woodson
Carter G. Woodson was the man who decided to begin the black history month where he wanted
to store all the information about the contribution of black community into the development of
America. He wanted people to remember black community not just for the oppression they had
to face due to slavery but also for their efforts and contribution for the betterment of the society.
The poem Know Thy Self would have been a source of inspiration that Woodson could have used
to encourage people to appreciate the efforts of their ancestors. He would have supported the idea
behind the poem. W. E. B. Du Bois was also an American Civil Rights activist who was a major
role model for the black community. His ideology could also be explained through this

Social Class Divide As A Report By The Equality And Human...
Social divisions are one of, if not, the main political concerns within out society today. Policies
have been implemented to try and overcome these social issues but as will be discussed and
argued in this essay, it is clear that either current government legislation isn t working, or not
enough work is being done locally and in government to tackle the problem. This essay will
discuss the social class divide as a report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (2010)
describes how people living in povertyand who are looked at as members of the lower social class
are targets of prejudice and injustice in Scotland. I will focus on the inequalities that exist within
these socially constructed groups, such as wealth, health, and... Show more content on

Another study completed by the Scottish Government helps us to see what kind of people are
living in poverty, and contrary to what most people might assume. Most families that are living in
poorer circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. It has also been shown how
families where parents are unemployed are better off on benefits rather than earning minimum wage
. This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to
do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries.
Supporting the argument that the living wage being introduced should be a government
priority. This would thereby close the gap between the employed and unemployed in Scotland.
Other government policies that are being introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty
levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian (2015) published an article describing how
welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also
severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015)
discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a devastating affect on 20% of the most
deprived families, losing 8% of their income. This leaves the impression that rather than poverty
being reduced,

radioactive gas emitted as radium decays sealed in thin glass tubes, which, when placed inside
needles strategically positioned within patients bodies, could destroy diseased tissue. After the
war s end in November 1918, Curie also offered radiology courses to U.S. soldiers through the
Radium Institute. Marie Curie did radiotherapy services for those soldiers in war and this
destroyed the diseased tissue which helped them heal faster. Another example of this is She didn

Hector Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique
Review: Symphonie Fantastique
Symphonie Fantastique is the first full musical outpouring of romanticism composer, Hector
Berlioz. Hector Berlioz is a French composer, a microcosm of the romantic era. Symphony
Fantastique is a quintessential example of romantic programmatic music. It is a novel, unlike
poetry. It is free of structural form; based on Berlioz being under the influence and remembering of
an unattainable woman. There are five movements; his first tempers his depression, his love and
jealousy which then rage to religious consolation. The second movement is about his encounter
with her at ball. The third movement consists of him seeking peace while wandering in the
countryside only to have her disrupt his peace.
There is a slow introduction; you get a sense of longing in the music suggesting that Berlioz is
feeling sad before he saw his lady friend. The symphony plays a slow introduction in a classical
sonata style. The muted strings play a sort of veiled tune and it fits Berlioz s romantic spirit. The
orchestra gives off a dreamlike condition and the melody provides a sense of loneliness, and
despair, a description of how Berlioz feels. The key it is being played in is C minor.
In the first movement a recurrent theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

waltz tune that plays in the background as the harps and violins play. There is a sense of
delicateness and beauty with the flutes and clarinets playing in the background as well. There s
ascending and descending and the tempo increases. IdГЁe Fixe is incorporated as soon as
Berlioz sees the woman again and then it slowly fades away because the waltz takes over as she
disappears into the crowd. The music becomes livelier. At the end there is a whirling rush and the
movement ends because cause Berlioz is left alone

Importance Of Identity In Things Fall Apart
Finding Your Identity Having an identity and more importantly finding your identity is very
important when it comes to finding and achieving your purpose in life. It is very difficult to find
your purpose when you don t have a clear self identity. Merriam Webster dictionary defines identity
in this context as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual , and that perfectly
represents what Nwoye experiences in the novel Things Fall Apartwhen the European missionaries
come to Nigeria and start teaching the Ibo villagers about Jesus Christ and Christianity. Nwoye
experiences a change in his religious identity because the missionaries words really get through to
him, and he really understands what they are trying to teach. Identity is mentioned multiple times
in Cosmopolitanism as Kwame Anthony Appiahputs an emphasis on finding your identity and
having a specific identity to be able to help other people when they need it. Nwoye always
thought that his purpose in life was to follow the faith of his fellow villagers, but once he heard
the teachings of the Christian missionaries he realized his real purpose, and his religious identity,
was to spread the word of Jesus Christ. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebeis a book set in a small

What Is A Life Turning Point
Life Turning Point―Moving to Hong Kong
Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in South China, was the place I lived and grew in
my early life. It was a lively and an amazing city. When I was young, I had never thought to leave
this energetic city.
However, life was always changing and unpredictable. It was the day when I was ten. I was told
that I would move out of the city.
On that day, I was just back from school. My parents were sitting and discussing in the living
room. Suddenly, they stopped and their faces turned solemn as I walked closer to them. My
mother took my hand in her and led me to sit near her. She said Dear, there is something we have
to tell you. What was that? It was the first idea that came across my mind but I did not speak it
out. Well, we are going to move to Hong Kong. My mother added. The day after, we were starting
to pack and getting ready for move.
The main reason that our family decided to move to Hong Kong was my parents considerations.
They were willing to enhance the quality of life of the family. They thought of this not because
their lives and their living standards in Guangzhou was worst and low, but because they wanted
something better. As we all knew, Hong Kong was an advanced city. It was a free and an open
society. The social and political environment of Hong Kong were stable. The economic growths...

Analysis Of Freedom Writers
Freedom Writers, directed by Richard LaGravenese, is a true story about the legendary class
203 of Woodrow Wilson High School. With the help of first time teacher Erin Gruwell, who is
portrayed through actress Hilary Swank, the class of misfits and outcasts discover life in a new
light, and they learn to join together as one against the world instead of many ( Freedom Writers
). The touching story sends the message that anything is achievable if one has the right mindset
and determination for it, no matter one s race or situation. Erin Gruwell has earned a job teaching
English for the first time, and her co workers opinions on the students she will be teaching are
extremely low. The school had applied an integration program a couple years prior, which caused
much disdain among the teaching staff. However, despite remaining her positive outlook, she
realizes she has a lot more to handle among her students because of their constant violent means and
hatred for each other. The majority of the students are affiliated with gangs and have extremely
challenging lives at home. When a controversial death threatens to tear the class apart, a simple
game with a not so simple message from Ms. Gruwell is able to bring them back together.
Discovering that many of the students shared important situations in common was the key to
getting along with one another. The class also bonds over their research over the Holocaust, in
which they care so much about the topic that they successfully

The Government Should Not Suspend Civil Right For National...
Throughout Canadian history, the issue of whether or not the government has the right to suspend
civil right for national security has been debated by many citizens. Some people believed that the
government is justified to hold off basic individual liberties is reasonable for the safety and
protection of all Canadians. However, other believed that the government should not suspend civil
rightsfor the sake of national security. Through careful analysis of the Japanese Canadian
Interments, the FLQ crisis and the Ukrainian Canadian internment, it can be shown that the
government showed unlawfulness in suspending individual rights and liberties.
Some people has argued that the government justified its action for the protection of Canadians.
During times of war, Canadians have feared for their safety and therefore, decreases their quality of
life. For instance, news about the bombing and Pearl Harbour has spread throughout Canada, and
the likeliness of Japan s attack on Canada had increased. The government could not take risk,
therefore they took aside the rights of a group of persons for the protection of all Canadians. This
was not only acceptable, but also necessary for Canada to survive. Also, the FLQ fighters murdered
an innocent government official and posed a threat to many citizens in Quebec. In addition to this,
it is stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms only apply to reasonable limits. Lastly,

Pillbug Research Paper
Introduction Armadillidium vulgare commonly known as pillbug is an isopod, a type of non
insect arthropod also known terrestrial crustacean. (Pillbug Armadillidium Vulgare). The pillbugs
roll into a pill form when threatened hence the name pillbug. Pillbugs are active during night but
can be found during the day in the soil or under debris or between rocks. Pillbugs can reach a
length of up to 18 mm when matured (Capinera, 2001). In this experiment, I investigated whether
pillbugs are attracted towards a specific or different food types? I think this is a significant
question because knowing what type of food pillbugs consume is very helpful in studying the
characteristics and nature of pillbugs. What lead me in asking this question is that I was studying
the nature of pillbugs and found that pillbugs feed on decomposing materials, and I thought what if
decomposing materials were removed, what food the pillbugs would consume. To find this out, I
set up behavior observation chamber (BOC) with 3 different foods; carrot, kale and tuna. I was

of pillbugs were attracted towards the chamber with the kale in it when compared to the other
chambers. My hypothesis that the greater no. of pillbugs will end in the tuna chamber was
rejected based on findings. One observation that I noticed was, the pillbugs were interested in kale
because it gave them a surface to hide under. Once the pillbugs were in the kale chamber, they
directly went under the kale and stayed there. One thing I could ve done better with the experiment
was break the kale into smaller bits so that the pillbugs had no chance of hiding underneath it.
Another factor to consider was, the amount of light that was present during the experiment,
pillbugs are nocturnal, which means that they are active night. If this experiment were to be
retested, I would strongly suggest to use the same size bits of food and for the test to be done at
night or a much darker

Solar Energy Advantages
Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever evolving
technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten
salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis. It is an important source of renewable energy and
its technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on how
they capture and distribute solar energyor convert it into solar power. Active solar techniques
include the use of photovoltaic systems, concentrated solar power and solar water heating to
harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting
materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that
naturally circulate air. The large magnitude of solar energy available makes it a highly appealing
source of electricity. The United Nations Development Programme in its 2000 World Energy
Assessment found that the annual potential of solar energy was 1,575 49,837 exajoules . This is
several times larger than the total world energy consumption, which was 559.8 EJ in 2012. In 2011,
the International Energy Agency said that the development of affordable, inexhaustible and clean
solar energy technologies will have huge longer term benefits. It will increase countries energy

Demographic Transition Of Pre Industrial
demographic transition theory is a widespread explanation of the changing mold of humanity,
fertility and increase rates as civilizations move from one demographic system to another. The term
was first coined by the American demographer Frank W. Notestein in the mid twentieth century, but
it has since been elaborated and expanded upon by many others (The Demographic Transition,
2012). There are four stages of demographic transition.
The first stage of the demographic transition is called pre industrial. In this stage, the population is
stable. The birth and death rates are both high. The death rates are at a high due to the increase of
disease, poor medical and personal hygiene care along with the limited supplies of food. With the
death rates being high, people are having more babies to help with mortality rates being so high.
With the birth and death rates being equal, the population growth stays at a zero.
The second stage of the demographic transition theory is called the transitional stage. In this state
the population starts to increase. This happens because the birth rates are high and the death rates
are starting to decline. The second stage is when the development of modern medicine and food
distribution is started to take hold and the death rate starts to diminish. (Saucedo, 2011)
The reason the death rates are starting to decline is due to the reason that the country is
transitioning into an industrial county. This means that there are improvements in the

people. Sure enough, I discover that my two children, both dressed in petticoats and gowns, are

Financial Accounting for Managers
Maurice Alexis
Strayer University
Prof. Dr Neil Weiss
March 17, 2015
1 Describe the company that you currently work for, have previously worked for, or would like to
work for in the future. Determine at least two (2) compelling reasons that this company should
prepare and manage a budget. Predict the two (2) most likely positive and negative financial
outcomes for this company if it properly or improperly performs effective budgeting. Biomet 3I is
the company I have been working for since 2007. Biomet, Inc. is a medical device headquartered in
the Warsaw, Indiana business cluster. This company specializes in reconstructive products for

Such profits are necessary to provide additional compensation to shareholders/owners while
constituting capital for future growth, repayment of debt, etc. By the way, it s a good idea to create
a personal budget, so the management team will know how much they need each month from the
business in terms of salary and draws, distributions or dividends. Budgeting systems turn managers
perspectives forward and by looking to the future and planning, managers are able to anticipate and
correct potential problems before they arise (Horngren, Foster Datar, 2000). Through budgeting,
management can plan ahead and maintain enough cash to pay creditors, to have adequate raw
materials to meet production requirements, and to have sufficient finished goods to meet expected
sales (Kieso, 2002).
Careful planning is required to guide all parts of the organization towards its strategic long term
and short term objectives. Anthony Govindarajan (2000) saw strategic planning as being
focused on several years, contrasted to budgeting that focuses on a single year and so a budget
is a one year slice of the organization s strategic plan. The budget prepared for planning
purposes, as part of the strategic planning process, is the quantitative plan of management s belief
of what the business s costs and revenues will be over a specific future period (Davies Boczko,
2005). According to Atrill McLaney (2002), a budget s role is

Declaration Of Independence Analysis
The Framers of the Declaration of Independence believed what they wrote that All men are
created equal. However, the majority of the founders did not understand the phrase the same
way we know it to be true today. In their world, Native Americans were savages, African
Americans were animals, at best, the poor were people in their eyes, but not intelligent or
morally upright people (if they were surely God would not let them starve and live in poverty),
and women were the devil s playthings and even by definition not male, therefore the lesser sex.
Their understanding of whom could be an equally created man was simple white males with land.
This demonizing made it easy for the founders to forget what they wrote as soon as the ink dried....

The widow is poor, but she still puts all the good she has into her offering. Whereas the rich have
plenty and will hardly notice the decrease. I think as humans we are too quick to write off
people for what they seem without ever knowing who they are and we judge them for what we
think they are because it fits into neat classifications we have in our minds. I am not an
economist or a political science major. I do not know how society would be affected without an
impoverished class, but as a human I think it must be better than our world now. I am an English
major and in most of the dystopian books I ve read the strongest class is the one that is written
off by the others. How we should go about raising the impoverished out of destitution I do not
know, but my best guess would be education. In class we discussed welfare mom, but I think that
is too simplistic of a term. There are multiple types of welfare moms in the country, but only one
that is a cause for concern. The type of parent that has no regard for his/her child s wellbeing
should not be allowed to have children. I propose that children who come from these homes be
put into a year round boarding school their food, books, and clothing should be paid by taxes and
the child will stay in this school system until high school graduation when they can decide to enter
college as normal

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( Cbt ), Group Therapy,...
A variety of problems can plague families. These can range from mental health issues in parents or
children all the way to problems involving abuse and neglect. To keep families functioning in a
healthy manner, there are many therapeutic approaches that can be used to intervene and change
the course of the familial issues. While remaining focused on family matters, I will introduce five of
these interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT), group therapy, client centered
therapy, psychotherapyand mindfulness based stress reduction. By placing a significant amount of
importance on problems occurring in the present, this type of psychotherapy is appealing to
patients with a desire to learn their way to better mental health.... Show more content on

Facilitating this collaborative process involves the therapist acting as an educator and active
participant in therapy. The concept of the therapist as an active participant means that the therapist
is there, not just to observe or interpret, but also to engage, lead and teach. The cognitive behavioral
therapist acts as a guide to their patients; they guide their patients toward goal completion. Through
creating, assigning and following up on real world applications of behavior changing techniques,
the therapist assumes the role of an educator in the patient practitioner dyad. CBT is structured
therapy. This means that there is a standard arrangement for each session. Beck (1995) stated the
underlying principle for adherence to a defined structural model as being important to increasing
understanding of the therapeutic process for both the patient and the therapist, to preventing relapse
of symptoms after cessation of therapy and directing the focus of the session toward the most
important issues (p. 8). This structure limits the possibility of idleness in the patient s progression
due to sessions that derail, ending up off focus and off topic. The structure of a CBT session begins
with checking the patient s current mood, recapitulating the previous session and homework,
setting an agenda for the current session, and assigning a new homework assignment. CBT is not
without its limitations, however. For some families, there may be

The Human Auditory System For Learning New Languages
Young minds adapt to learning new languages more easily than developed minds. When you are
young you don t understand where the language comes from you, you simply imitate the sounds
and words that you hear being spoken. When a baby first realizes they have a voice they making
nonsensical noises constantly. As they begin to feel comfortable they start repeating after words
they hear usually beginning with mommy , daddy and no . While this initial speaking usually
happens around thirteen to fourteen months, a baby can begin learning their languageskills before
they are born, The human auditory system is functional from the third trimester on, and the loudest
thing an in utero baby hears is its mother s voice, speaking whatever language or languages she
knows. Those sounds, with their characteristic rhythms and phonemes, are poured straight into the
baby s brain and become comfortingly familiar (Klugger).
You might think that having a child learn two languages at once is too difficult for their young
brains to comprehend. I agree that learning two languages at once is quite difficult. Studies have
shown that is it easier to learn two languages when you are younger compared to when you are
older. At Spring Lane Elementary School in Utah the children take half of their classes in English
and the other half of their classes in Chinese. Their progress has been something to be noted. They
made steady progress through the year, Ridge says. We started school

Communities Essay
Communitites
When most people talk about community, they think of a location, an area in which people live. By
definition community is a group of people living in the same location and under the same
government. Community can also be defined as a group of people with the same common interests
or segments in society. However, these definitions, which can be found in any dictionary, are only
the tip of the iceberg when it comes to explaining what community really is. Community is the
memories and traditions of a certain area, as well as the interactions and responsibilities of its
members. In order to truly belong to a community people must follow a set of values. These
communal values are needed to provide stability among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times it is the responsibility of the community to speak out about problems. Communities are
the only effective power that can limit consumption, pollution, and the degradation of nature
(Ehrenfeld 21). A program such as Neighborhood Watch is a good example of people coming
together on a community level to fix and prevent problems.
Another aspect of good community, which can be seen in farm communities, is the idea of
stewardship and treatment of the land. In the past, the communal system in farm communities was
that everyone relied on each other for survival. Then with the introduction of modern economic
systems, that was drastically changed in some areas. Farmers then relied more on making a profit
and getting the most money out of their land. David Kline represented his ideas that one must be a
steward to the mysteries of god (39). This example of how farm communities have changed
resembles some of the problems facing large rural communities today.
One major problem with communities today is that people frequently move between different
areas where every house looks identical. Such communities are like packaged communities and
lack dynamism. Harry W. Paige would call people living in packaged communities, the rootless
ones, because they lack a sense of place and belonging. Paige also expresses the idea of retirement
communities and how they can never mimic the real feeling of home. Even if they claim to be living

A Research Study On Ivf
Before this systematic review published, only two reviews were available of outcomes for
singletons after IVF techniques. In comparison with natural conception, it has been proposed that
the obstetric results of pregnancies are poorer with IVF/ICSI. Today, it is reported that the
number of women that undergo IVF/ICSI process is increasing around the world. With this, I am
curious about the risks for women having IVF/ICSI and how perilous it is to them since the
process is not natural. I would also like to know what causes the risks and specifically the factors
that increase them. As a nurse who had IVF education and practice and worked with such
renowned IVF specialists such as Dr. Buckett, Dr. Holzer and Dr.Tan, I decided to conduct a
synthesized evidence search on the systematic reviewso that I can help these patients to have more
attentive care to prevent or minimize the possible risks of In Vitro Fertilization techniques that may
potentially endanger them.
In this synthesized, evidenced search, I wanted to learn whether IVF pregnancies are bound to
greater precarious risks and whether there is the way to minimize possible risks by providing more
antenatal care to the clients. I find this important since most of the patients having IVF/ICSI are
very delicate, so they would require more systematic care based on recent studies.
I used the key search terms. I entered Systematic review , IVF , and ICSI . Out of more than 40
systematic reviews on the Health Reproduction

Commercial Vehicle Accidents In Hawaii
Commercial Vehicle Accidents in Hawaii
Have you ever been driving on the freeway and had a large commercial truck or other kind of
commercial vehicle drive alongside you? Chances are this happens on a daily basis if you drive
often. It can be intimidating when a large commercial vehicle swerves in front of you or drives
too fast. These vehicles are very large and can cause a lot of damage if they cause an accident.
When a commercial truck driver is at fault in an accident, you deserve compensation for your
injuries.
At Need an Injury Attorney Hawaii we know that collisions with commercial trucks are very scary.
Injuries inflicted by commercial vehicles are often very serious because of how large these trucks
are. Unfortunately, accidents that involve commercial vehicles happen fairly often.
Let us fight in your corner

help. Our expert attorneys can provide legal counsel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, you should call an attorney with experience in commercial vehicle personal injury
cases. We can send a representative to the scene of the accident. This representative can collect
evidence and take pictures that will be useful later on in your case. We also advise that you not
give a statement to insurance companies without the advice of a lawyer. Do not accept an insurance
company s settlement. We are likely able to get you better compensation then they will offer you.
Commercial vehicle drivers have to follow the same rules and regulations on the road as all other
drivers. They also have to follow additional rules and regulations. They are professional drivers.
The drivers and the companies who hire them need to be able to prove they are eligible and
trained to do the job at hand. Also, companies need to ensure that vehicles are kept safe and not
being driven with safety violations and

living in since kindergarten. I have created so many memorable moments here that I will never

worked hard to give us the opportunity to learn and are now so proud of our growth. I see
teachers who have taught us so much more that just Algebra or English. Then, I see us, the

Mo Nique And Fey Similarities
Two very talented comedians in their own right but have you ever wondered how did they become
the stars that they are and how different were their paths in getting there? Who are their targeted
audience and why? The obvious similarities between Mo Nique and Fey is that they are both
women and both are comedians but the similarities stop there. Mo Nique was brought up in a two
parent household however her familystruggled with addictions and abuse. Fey also was brought up
in a two parent household however hers was an easy childhood filled with laughter.
Mo Nique got her start in comedy when her brother dared her to perform at an open mic night at a
comedy factory in Baltimore. Fey began her career at the prestigious improvisational theater ...

addiction, but has always reassured her audience that her sister has been clean for some time and
they are able to joke about it today. Fey uses light humor and referencing the famous. She will
always be remembered as Sarah Palin more than any other

Implementing The New Health Care Reform
1.An important strategy to consider would be monitoring states that are active in adopting the
new health care reform. An analysis of the new reform and its impact on the VA should be
studied. These factors can play a major role in the decisions to be made when making changes in
Ms. Patton s area of control. Care should be integrated, and incentives should be aligned to the
well being of the enrolled population. The fundamental objective of implementation of the
transition plan should be improving patient health. Primary care should be a major focus, and
the goal should be improving the health of the enrolled population. The program should survive
long enough to lead to improvements that can be measured. 2.Advantages of Option 1: The VA
Center will be a part of an ISN/CISN program following the new reform. Senior veterans will be
able to access primary care doctors closer to their homes. Disadvantages of Option 1: The plan is
large scale and will require a lot of time and effort. It might be difficult to convince people to
change their current plans and convince new healthier folks to join. Budget approvals might take
some time to come through. The tie up with the insurance company needs to be well planned.
Advantages of Option 2: This option thinks like the State and opines that ISN would likely
exclude coverage of service connected illness or injury. This plan of action will ensure no drastic
measures are taken to meet the new reform measures. Disadvantage of Option

  • 3. Disadvantages Of Child Soldiers Introduction For most of human history, war has generally been conceptualized as a domain of adults in uniform. However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and girls, are increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the use of child soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be today. According to international law, a child soldieris defined as any individual who is aged below eighteen and part of an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child combatants stands at 300,000 and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non combat duties in the army. Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves children fighters. The worrying situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as combatants on every continent but Antarctica. Given these statistics, one can speculate that there may actually be underlying military advantages in using children to fight wars, and this is exploited by those who employ them. This is the premise which I base my research on. Adopting the understanding that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a city on the gulf coast, getting hit by a hurricane was expected. Galveston has been hit with many hurricanes before but one particular hurricane almost wiped out the whole city. On September 8th, 1900, a potent hurricane producing wind up to 120 miles per hour and flooded the city with about 15 feet of water made landfall. The aftermath of the hurricane was horrific, it broke the city down to rubbles and a few thousands of people lost their lives. A couple of actions they took to resolve their problems long term was building a sea wall and also raising the entire city. The commissioners assigned engineers to create a plan to protect Galveston from storms in the future. The engineers presented a two part project: To break the forces of the waves, they recommended building a concrete seawall three miles long from the south jetty across the eastern edge of the city and down the beach. To protect the city from flooding, they proposed raising the level of the entire city by picking up most of the structures in the city and filling in beneath them with sand. Taking these actions have certainly help the people of Galveston survive through hurricanes. Galveston was in a position of needing as much help as they could receive. With the plan of constructing a new sea wall, raising the city s level, and also reconstructing the buildings that were destroyed from the hurricane, it was going to cost huge amount of money to make this happen. • 5. An Important Aspect Of Purchasing And Selling Goods Whether An important aspect of purchasing and selling goods whether for trade or personal reasons is to understand who bears the burden of damage to the goods. This is of great importance, but often overlooked, determining when risk has passed from one party to the next establishes whether the seller may still recover the full price of the damaged goods and the buyer be left with damaged goods or not. In this short note we will briefly look at the consequences of not dealing with these issues in your contract as well as some brief thoughts on how this may be avoided. WHAT DO WE MEAN BY RISK PASSING AND WHEN DOES THIS HAPPEN? When we talk of the risk passing to the buyer what is referred to is the burden of having to deal with the damaged goods.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As such, in these types of contracts the risk does not pass until the goods described in the contract are appropriated to the contract. That is, when the seller has set aside a specific 10 tonnes of maize to be bought by the buyer. Until the product has been appropriated to the contract the seller is liable to replace the goods before they are entitled to the purchase price, once they have been appropriated or distinguished the risk for damage passes to the buyer. What if the sale is subject to a condition? For example suppose that the contract of sale for a buffalo was made conditional on the buffalo being tested for, and being found free of, any disease (the sale is suspended until the buffalo is found to be disease free) and the buffalo dies before this can be determined. In situations like this the risk does not pass to the buyer until the condition has been fulfilled. On fulfilment of the condition the risk becomes the buyers from the date of conclusion of the sale. In the above scenario the risk has not yet passed to the buyer therefore the seller bears the risk of the buffalo dying or being injured. The buyer does not have to pay the price even when it is later determined that the buffalo was disease free. If the buffalo had been injured or died after the condition was fulfilled (the vet finding that the buffalo was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Difference Between Modernist Drama And Realist Drama This essay aims to show and discuss the ways in which modernist drama is different to realist drama. To do this the essay will focus on the conventions of language and subject identity to show how modernist drama challenges the ways of realist drama. This essay will first outline what modernism is. It will then look at the conventions of both language and subject identity separately, providing examples where needed. Finally, the essay will look at Pirandello s play and discuss how it relates to the modernist dramastyle before concluding. When something is considered contemporary or in style, it is considered to be modern. From the late 18th century to the early 19th century there was a shift in history. There was a rise in capitalist societies and an increase in industrial productivity. This created the start of modernity. Macey (2001) refers to modernity as the period of the modern. The changes in the world demanded a response from art. All forms of art had to create a new way of thought for this new world. This is how modernism or the modernist ... Symbolism In The Rabbits The Rabbits The Rabbits, a picture book written by John Marsden and illustrated by Shaun Tan, is an allegory for the British arriving in Australia and the subsequent colonisation. From the perspective of the indigenous population, Marsden explores the impact of white settlement on the traditional aboriginal way of life. This is achieved through the symbolism, colours and language. Symbolism is used in many different ways to represent the colonisation of Australia. Numbats are a benign native species and are used to symbolise the indigenous Australians who loved in harmony with the land for more than 50 000 years, whereas rabbits symbolise the British as a destructive pest that devastates the land. The Day Vesuvius Spoke Jupiter was not pleased for Vesuvius had awakened after centuries of fuming quietly and mustering it s strength to one day expel all of its anger that lie dormant beneath the surface. A day such as this could only be described as Hell on Earth. For most, this was the beginning of the end. I was awakened by the violent shake of our house and the smell of smoke that hung in the air nearly suffocating me. • 17. The Recovery Of Residual Oil From Reservoirs Introduction The recovery of residual oil from reservoirs is one of the major challenges faced by petroleum industries. Based on the requirement of heat, EOR techniques have been divided into cold and hot (thermal) recovery methods. Cold methods such as CHOPS, water / polymer flooding, microbial injection, etc. doesn t require any additional heat which saves the cost of heat generation. On other hand thermal methods like SAGD, CSS, steam flooding, fire flooding, etc. require more temperature which results in higher recovery of oil. Even though, the technique of heating the formation through low / high frequency resistive heaters have been recognised 3 decades ago, but it is still a peripheral technology for EOR. Despite in the advancement of different EOR techniques, none of them have proven to be economic, less energy exhaustive, and environment friendly. Recently, Novas Energy Services have developed a tool that creates dense plasmawhen subjected to high voltage up to few hundred Volts and propagate it inside the formation through elastic waves. The produced plasma is not only utilized for cleaning bottom hole zone, but also used for enhancing reservoir permeability and crude s flow ability. But due to inadequate sample of equipment for generating plasma pulse, this tool is only used for pilot field experiments. Policies have been implemented to try and overcome these social issues but as will be discussed and argued in this essay, it is clear that either current government legislation isn t working, or not enough work is being done locally and in government to tackle the problem. This essay will discuss the social class divide as a report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (2010) describes how people living in povertyand who are looked at as members of the lower social class are targets of prejudice and injustice in Scotland. I will focus on the inequalities that exist within these socially constructed groups, such as wealth, health, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another study completed by the Scottish Government helps us to see what kind of people are living in poverty, and contrary to what most people might assume. Most families that are living in poorer circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. It has also been shown how families where parents are unemployed are better off on benefits rather than earning minimum wage . This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. Supporting the argument that the living wage being introduced should be a government priority. This would thereby close the gap between the employed and unemployed in Scotland. Other government policies that are being introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian (2015) published an article describing how welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015) discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a devastating affect on 20% of the most deprived families, losing 8% of their income. This leaves the impression that rather than poverty being reduced, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Hector Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique Review: Symphonie Fantastique Symphonie Fantastique is the first full musical outpouring of romanticism composer, Hector Berlioz. Hector Berlioz is a French composer, a microcosm of the romantic era. Symphony Fantastique is a quintessential example of romantic programmatic music. It is a novel, unlike poetry. It is free of structural form; based on Berlioz being under the influence and remembering of an unattainable woman. There are five movements; his first tempers his depression, his love and jealousy which then rage to religious consolation. The second movement is about his encounter with her at ball. The third movement consists of him seeking peace while wandering in the countryside only to have her disrupt his peace. There is a slow introduction; you get a sense of longing in the music suggesting that Berlioz is feeling sad before he saw his lady friend. The symphony plays a slow introduction in a classical sonata style. The muted strings play a sort of veiled tune and it fits Berlioz s romantic spirit. The orchestra gives off a dreamlike condition and the melody provides a sense of loneliness, and despair, a description of how Berlioz feels. The key it is being played in is C minor. Importance Of Identity In Things Fall Apart Finding Your Identity Having an identity and more importantly finding your identity is very important when it comes to finding and achieving your purpose in life. It is very difficult to find your purpose when you don t have a clear self identity. Pillbugs are active during night but can be found during the day in the soil or under debris or between rocks. Pillbugs can reach a length of up to 18 mm when matured (Capinera, 2001). In this experiment, I investigated whether pillbugs are attracted towards a specific or different food types? I think this is a significant question because knowing what type of food pillbugs consume is very helpful in studying the characteristics and nature of pillbugs. What lead me in asking this question is that I was studying the nature of pillbugs and found that pillbugs feed on decomposing materials, and I thought what if decomposing materials were removed, what food the pillbugs would consume. Once the pillbugs were in the kale chamber, they directly went under the kale and stayed there. Solar Energy Advantages Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis. It is an important source of renewable energy and its technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on how they capture and distribute solar energyor convert it into solar power. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic systems, concentrated solar power and solar water heating to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air. • 39. Demographic Transition Of Pre Industrial demographic transition theory is a widespread explanation of the changing mold of humanity, fertility and increase rates as civilizations move from one demographic system to another. The term was first coined by the American demographer Frank W. Notestein in the mid twentieth century, but it has since been elaborated and expanded upon by many others (The Demographic Transition, 2012). There are four stages of demographic transition. The first stage of the demographic transition is called pre industrial. In this stage, the population is stable. The birth and death rates are both high. The death rates are at a high due to the increase of disease, poor medical and personal hygiene care along with the limited supplies of food. With the death rates being high, people are having more babies to help with mortality rates being so high. With the birth and death rates being equal, the population growth stays at a zero. The second stage of the demographic transition theory is called the transitional stage. In this state the population starts to increase. This happens because the birth rates are high and the death rates are starting to decline. The second stage is when the development of modern medicine and food distribution is started to take hold and the death rate starts to diminish. (Saucedo, 2011) The reason the death rates are starting to decline is due to the reason that the country is transitioning into an industrial county. This means that there are improvements in the ... Such profits are necessary to provide additional compensation to shareholders/owners while constituting capital for future growth, repayment of debt, etc. By the way, it s a good idea to create a personal budget, so the management team will know how much they need each month from the business in terms of salary and draws, distributions or dividends. Budgeting systems turn managers perspectives forward and by looking to the future and planning, managers are able to anticipate and correct potential problems before they arise (Horngren, Foster Datar, 2000). Through budgeting, management can plan ahead and maintain enough cash to pay creditors, to have adequate raw materials to meet production requirements, and to have sufficient finished goods to meet expected sales (Kieso, 2002). Careful planning is required to guide all parts of the organization towards its strategic long term and short term objectives. Anthony Govindarajan (2000) saw strategic planning as being focused on several years, contrasted to budgeting that focuses on a single year and so a budget is a one year slice of the organization s strategic plan. The budget prepared for planning purposes, as part of the strategic planning process, is the quantitative plan of management s belief of what the business s costs and revenues will be over a specific future period (Davies Boczko, 2005). • 42. Declaration Of Independence Analysis The Framers of the Declaration of Independence believed what they wrote that All men are created equal. However, the majority of the founders did not understand the phrase the same way we know it to be true today. In their world, Native Americans were savages, African Americans were animals, at best, the poor were people in their eyes, but not intelligent or morally upright people (if they were surely God would not let them starve and live in poverty), and women were the devil s playthings and even by definition not male, therefore the lesser sex. Their understanding of whom could be an equally created man was simple white males with land. This demonizing made it easy for the founders to forget what they wrote as soon as the ink dried.... I think as humans we are too quick to write off people for what they seem without ever knowing who they are and we judge them for what we think they are because it fits into neat classifications we have in our minds. I am not an economist or a political science major. I do not know how society would be affected without an impoverished class, but as a human I think it must be better than our world now. I am an English major and in most of the dystopian books I ve read the strongest class is the one that is written off by the others. How we should go about raising the impoverished out of destitution I do not know, but my best guess would be education. In class we discussed welfare mom, but I think that is too simplistic of a term. There are multiple types of welfare moms in the country, but only one that is a cause for concern. The type of parent that has no regard for his/her child s wellbeing should not be allowed to have children. I propose that children who come from these homes be put into a year round boarding school their food, books, and clothing should be paid by taxes and the child will stay in this school system until high school graduation when they can decide to enter college as normal ... • 43. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( Cbt ), Group Therapy,... A variety of problems can plague families. These can range from mental health issues in parents or children all the way to problems involving abuse and neglect. To keep families functioning in a healthy manner, there are many therapeutic approaches that can be used to intervene and change the course of the familial issues. While remaining focused on family matters, I will introduce five of these interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT), group therapy, client centered therapy, psychotherapyand mindfulness based stress reduction. By placing a significant amount of importance on problems occurring in the present, this type of psychotherapy is appealing to patients with a desire to learn their way to better mental health.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Facilitating this collaborative process involves the therapist acting as an educator and active participant in therapy. The concept of the therapist as an active participant means that the therapist is there, not just to observe or interpret, but also to engage, lead and teach. The cognitive behavioral therapist acts as a guide to their patients; they guide their patients toward goal completion. Through creating, assigning and following up on real world applications of behavior changing techniques, the therapist assumes the role of an educator in the patient practitioner dyad. CBT is structured therapy. This means that there is a standard arrangement for each session. Beck (1995) stated the underlying principle for adherence to a defined structural model as being important to increasing understanding of the therapeutic process for both the patient and the therapist, to preventing relapse of symptoms after cessation of therapy and directing the focus of the session toward the most important issues (p. 8). This structure limits the possibility of idleness in the patient s progression due to sessions that derail, ending up off focus and off topic. The structure of a CBT session begins with checking the patient s current mood, recapitulating the previous session and homework, setting an agenda for the current session, and assigning a new homework assignment. CBT is not without its limitations, however. For some families, there may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Human Auditory System For Learning New Languages Young minds adapt to learning new languages more easily than developed minds. When you are young you don t understand where the language comes from you, you simply imitate the sounds and words that you hear being spoken. When a baby first realizes they have a voice they making nonsensical noises constantly. As they begin to feel comfortable they start repeating after words they hear usually beginning with mommy , daddy and no . While this initial speaking usually happens around thirteen to fourteen months, a baby can begin learning their languageskills before they are born, The human auditory system is functional from the third trimester on, and the loudest thing an in utero baby hears is its mother s voice, speaking whatever language or languages she knows. Those sounds, with their characteristic rhythms and phonemes, are poured straight into the baby s brain and become comfortingly familiar (Klugger). You might think that having a child learn two languages at once is too difficult for their young brains to comprehend. I agree that learning two languages at once is quite difficult. Studies have shown that is it easier to learn two languages when you are younger compared to when you are older. At Spring Lane Elementary School in Utah the children take half of their classes in English and the other half of their classes in Chinese. Their progress has been something to be noted. They made steady progress through the year, Ridge says. We started school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Communities Essay Communitites When most people talk about community, they think of a location, an area in which people live. By definition community is a group of people living in the same location and under the same government. Community can also be defined as a group of people with the same common interests or segments in society. However, these definitions, which can be found in any dictionary, are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to explaining what community really is. Community is the memories and traditions of a certain area, as well as the interactions and responsibilities of its members. In order to truly belong to a community people must follow a set of values. These communal values are needed to provide stability among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many times it is the responsibility of the community to speak out about problems. Communities are the only effective power that can limit consumption, pollution, and the degradation of nature (Ehrenfeld 21). A program such as Neighborhood Watch is a good example of people coming together on a community level to fix and prevent problems. Another aspect of good community, which can be seen in farm communities, is the idea of stewardship and treatment of the land. In the past, the communal system in farm communities was that everyone relied on each other for survival. Then with the introduction of modern economic systems, that was drastically changed in some areas. Farmers then relied more on making a profit and getting the most money out of their land. David Kline represented his ideas that one must be a steward to the mysteries of god (39). This example of how farm communities have changed resembles some of the problems facing large rural communities today. One major problem with communities today is that people frequently move between different areas where every house looks identical. Such communities are like packaged communities and lack dynamism. Harry W. Paige would call people living in packaged communities, the rootless ones, because they lack a sense of place and belonging. Paige also expresses the idea of retirement communities and how they can never mimic the real feeling of home. Even if they claim to be living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. A Research Study On Ivf Before this systematic review published, only two reviews were available of outcomes for singletons after IVF techniques. In comparison with natural conception, it has been proposed that the obstetric results of pregnancies are poorer with IVF/ICSI. Today, it is reported that the number of women that undergo IVF/ICSI process is increasing around the world. With this, I am curious about the risks for women having IVF/ICSI and how perilous it is to them since the process is not natural. I would also like to know what causes the risks and specifically the factors that increase them. As a nurse who had IVF education and practice and worked with such renowned IVF specialists such as Dr. Buckett, Dr. Holzer and Dr.Tan, I decided to conduct a synthesized evidence search on the systematic reviewso that I can help these patients to have more attentive care to prevent or minimize the possible risks of In Vitro Fertilization techniques that may potentially endanger them. In this synthesized, evidenced search, I wanted to learn whether IVF pregnancies are bound to greater precarious risks and whether there is the way to minimize possible risks by providing more antenatal care to the clients. I find this important since most of the patients having IVF/ICSI are very delicate, so they would require more systematic care based on recent studies. I used the key search terms. I entered Systematic review , IVF , and ICSI . Out of more than 40 systematic reviews on the Health Reproduction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Implementing The New Health Care Reform 1.An important strategy to consider would be monitoring states that are active in adopting the new health care reform. An analysis of the new reform and its impact on the VA should be studied. These factors can play a major role in the decisions to be made when making changes in Ms. Patton s area of control. Care should be integrated, and incentives should be aligned to the well being of the enrolled population. The fundamental objective of implementation of the transition plan should be improving patient health. Primary care should be a major focus, and the goal should be improving the health of the enrolled population. The program should survive long enough to lead to improvements that can be measured. 2.Advantages of Option 1: The VA Center will be a part of an ISN/CISN program following the new reform. Senior veterans will be able to access primary care doctors closer to their homes. Disadvantages of Option 1: The plan is large scale and will require a lot of time and effort. It might be difficult to convince people to change their current plans and convince new healthier folks to join. Budget approvals might take some time to come through. The tie up with the insurance company needs to be well planned. Advantages of Option 2: This option thinks like the State and opines that ISN would likely exclude coverage of service connected illness or injury. This plan of action will ensure no drastic measures are taken to meet the new reform measures. Disadvantage of Option ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
