Dissonance Theory
cause that individual to change overall attitudes toward an object. An alternative to Rosenberg s theory
is Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance. While Rosenberg s theory deals with affect and
cognition, Festinger s theory examines consistency among cognitive elements or beliefs about oneself,
behavior, or environment. Dissonance occurs when elements are logically inconsistent or
psychologically inconsistent because of cultural mores, specific opinions deviating from more
encompassing opinions, or information or experiences that are contrary to previous information or
experiences. Dissonance motivates the individual to reduce the dissonance and return to consonance.
When faced with dissonance, the individual seeks to avoid situations or information that may increase
dissonance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies on counter attitudinal advocacy are based on dissonance theory. Individuals who are asked to
write an essay or present a speech promoting a position contrary to their beliefs become committed to
certain aspects of the contrary position. This causes dissonance, which the individuals attempt to
reduce by changing their original position or attitude. The stronger the magnitude of the dissonance,
the stronger the need to change the original attitude. The simple act of decision making creates
dissonance, too. The magnitude of the dissonance is related to the importance of the decision and the
attractiveness of both the chosen and the unchosen alternatives. Researchers have a better
understanding of the interactions between attitudes and opinions and actions and behaviors, so
consistency theories that are not directly related to processes are of little interest to today s cognitive
scientists who tend to be more process oriented than behaviorists who studied consistency

Germany And Its Impact On The United States Essay
In the last few centuries, Europe has experienced major changes both in its population makeup and
number. Be that as it may, in the last two decades, it has been faced with an unprecedented decline in
population growth while struggling with the issue of an aging population. Indeed, from Helsinki to
Lisbon, the birth rate has fallen dramatically in recent years. It has fallen so much so that most
countries have put together some form of policies to help mitigate what is perceived as a serious
demographic crisis in european capitals. Those policies have yielded different results. While some
countries like France are now experiencing a slow growth rate as a result of those policies, others in
the likes of Germany are forced to still deal with an ever declining population. In this paper, I will be
analyzing, comparing, and contrasting the policies in both countries.
Since the end of the second world war, Germany has had undeniable economic performances. Unlike
its european counterparts, It has extremely low unemployment, record trade surpluses and a healthy
public accounts. However, the fact remains that the long term outlook of its population is less positive
as its population continues to decline while the portion of the its aging population surpases the
younger part. Demographic trends in Germany and France appear to be divergent. The two countries
seem to be in a radically different situations. Germany has a population of 82,175,684 inhabitants.

Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline ``
Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century.
Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists
by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his
prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He
changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an
alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school
and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works allow psychologists and
educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus assisting them in solving
the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep analysis of Bettelheim s works
and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal with the problem of bullying.
Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children.
Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they inspire their children to use their power
to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were inflicted on them previously. He also tells the
parents that using physical punishment does not deter their children from committing the action and
that it can encourage them to become devious or untrustworthy (NP). This

Baroque Art Depicted the Religious Tensions During that...
Art in the Baroque period was used to depict the religious tensions present at the time. Coincidentally,
the philosophy of the time also played a key role in addressing the tensions that existed during the
period. As a result of the focus on similar aspects of the society, there emerged numerous similarities
between the artwork of the time and the ideas expressed by philosophers such as Descartes and
Leibniz. It is critical to assess the views of the different philosophers in order to determine how the
artwork was similar to their perceptions of the world. This essay addresses the views of Descartes in
relation to the principles of Baroque art. In particular, the essay focuses on the works of Vermeer and
Rembrandt, seeking to determine how their art relates to the philosophical views of Descartes.
Rembrandt
Rembrandt was one of the most influential Baroque artists of the 17th century, with popular works
such as the Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp, the Night Watch, and Angel Leaving Tobit and Tobias (Open
University of Kaohsiung). His success was based on the fact that his work did not go out of fashion.
The spiritual life of Holland during the Baroque period required him because he was relevant in
presenting ideas about the period in his work. Some of the most successful works of Rembrandt were
depictions of biblical stories that he presented in highly relevant detail. The painter represented the
scriptures from the Bible in the minutest detail by integrating it with his own

The Contributions Of Artists During The World War One War
Part A Plan of Investigation
Beginning on August 4th, 1914 to November 11th, 1918, Canada was a part of World War One
between the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The First World War brought changes to every
aspect of the world from society to medicine to the arts. This investigation aims to evaluate the
contributions of artists in the World War One war effort. To determine the extent of the artists
contributions, the investigation will focus on art created during this time for the war effort such as
propaganda posters, dazzle camouflage and military camouflage. To analyze the contributions, I will
be looking at photographs and images of dazzle camouflage, propaganda posters and military
camouflage as primary sources found on the website and at the Canadian War Museum but also using
databases and websites such as the Canadian government website for secondary sources and other
information.
Part B Summary of Evidence
Artists Prior to World War One:
A new form of art was born called modernism which helped to describe the new world
Women were also engaging in art
In September 1886, a group of young women artists organized a club strictly for art
In 1907, the association became the Women s Art Association of Canada with a bill passed in the
House of Commons
War Artists
Sir Max Aitken, later known as Lord Beaverbrook, recognized the necessity of film and photographs
for propaganda but felt that paintings could best portray Canada at war

Disadvantages Of Pesticides
INTRODUCRION
Pesticides and their alternatives are an undeniable part of modern life, used to protect everything from
flower gardens to agricultural crops from specific pests (Saravi Shokrzadeh, 2011) Pesticides are
considered a vital component of modern farming, playing a major role in maintaining high agricultural
productivity. Consequently, in high input intensive agricultural production systems, the widespread
use of pesticides to manage pests has emerged as a dominant feature (Saravi Shokrzadeh, 2011)
Pesticides comprise a large number of substances that belong to many different chemical classes, they
are applied to crops at various stages of cultivation to provide protection against pests and during post
harvest storage to preserve quality, to ensure the safety of food for consumers and regulate
international trade and legislation. Pesticides are considered to be essential for agricultural
development; some of them can cause serious ambient contamination, principally in food (Sitta et al.,
2000; Gonzalez et al., 2003). This hazard, could be further increased in case of vegetable fruits which
are usually consumed freshly e.g. consumed vegetable fruits freshly contaminated with pesticide
residues, more than allowable tolerance (Romeh et al., 2000). Various human health related ... Show

The Causes And Consequences Of Anxiety
Anxiety is defined as a condition, or unpleasant emotional state that involves feelings of worry,
tension and apprehension (Bekker et al, 2003). To attempt to discover the causes of anxiety, and what
areas of the brain are involved, Jeffrey Grays Behavioural Inhibition System (1982) will be discussed.
Following this, further exploration of these beliefs by Carver and White (1994) will be explored. In
addition to these, it is also suggested that anxiety is correlated to hippocampus and amygdala
formation and volume, therefore, this idea will also be explored, other factors that may influence
anxiety will also be discussed in order to consider other potential causes and consequences of anxiety.
After review and consideration of this evidence, the question To what extent can individual differences
in anxiety be explained by variation in the Behavioural Inhibition System will be explained.
Jeffrey Grays (1982) Behavioural Activation System (BAS) and Behavioural Inhibition System (BIS)
which are now occasionally referred to as Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory (RST) (Pickering and
Corr, 2008) are theories of personality, which believe that individual differences in personality are due
to neurobiological factors (Avila Barrós Loscertales, 2008). The Behavioural Activation System is
motivated by reward and motivation. Whereas the Behavioural Inhibition System is motivated by
sensitivity to punishment and avoidance (Goldberg et al, 2010) To test this theory, Carver and White

World Wrestling History
So the history of world wrestling goes back a long time. It was the first sport to ever be created. The
first real traces of the development of wrestling date back to the times of the Sumerians, over 5,000
years ago. There are also many historical and archaeological traces of wrestling in Ancient Egypt.
Drawings were discovered in Ancient Egypt in the tombs of Beni Hassan representing 400 couples of
wrestlers. These drawings witness the existence of corporations of wrestlers in Ancient Egypt,
wrestling rules, and refereeing codes (United World Wrestling). For the Greeks, wrestling was a
science and a divine art , and it represented the most important training for young men. Athletes

practiced by American Wrestlers. It was only during the fourth olympic Games held in London in
1908 that competitions were organized for both styles. Wrestling matches took place on three mats
that were placed outside. A regular match lasted 1 hour, but finalists wrestled without a time limit.
After this Olympic Games, Wrestling started to develope in every country Worldwide. Northern
Europe countries maintained Greco Roman wrestling, where freestyle wrestling was largely
dominated by the English and the Americans. In Amsterdam, in 1928, the first African wrestler won

Freud s Theory Of Human Sexuality
As we know, the practice of sexual behavior is perceived differently by diverse worldviews and
consists of a wide range of activities (Hyde DeLamater, 2014). There has been a number of debates on
whether or not the nature of human sexuality can be developed through genetics, imitated through
socialization, influenced by unconscious decisions or if it can be altered after childhood. There are a
variety of theories that have been created to help understand the uncertainty of how human sexuality is
developed. Uncovering the influence of neuroscience on sexuality and evaluating the appropriateness
of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory, Albert Bandura s Modeling Theory and Carl Roger s
Person Centered Theory on addressing Maria s sexual problems will be analyzed as well as their
contribution to our understanding of human sexuality.
Theory Identification
Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory is one out of four major theories that have contributed to
relevancy of human sexuality. Freud coined the notion that irrational forces, unconscious motivations,
biological and instinctual drives that evolve over time are the cause for human behavior (Corey, 2013).
Freud believed that parent child interactions within childhood develops a person s unique character
type. In childhood pleasure is maximized to satisfy the demands of the id impulses, while the parent s
main focus is integrating the demands of reality and the concept of what is right and wrong. Human

Ancient Greece is, of course, regarded as the foundation of Western society and European culture.
Thus the plight of the Greeks in their struggle for independence aroused the sympathy of many
Europeans, from commoners and government officials to kings and queens. This led to the formation
of the London Philhellenic Committee, which helped to finance the war. The great British romantic
poet, Lord Byron (1788?1824) was seized by the romance of the Greek cause, imagining a reborn land
of Socrates (c. 470?399 BCE) and Plato (c. 428?348 BCE), and set off to Greece to take up arms in
the cause of Greek independence. He helped raise money as he made his way south but died of a fever
in Greece. Nonetheless, his death made him a martyr of sorts and increased European sympathy for
the Greeks. Two years later, the French romantic painter, Eug?ne Delacroix (1798?1863), painted his
famous representation of the Ottoman massacre of Greeks at Chios in 1822. Like Byron?s poetry,
Delacroix?s art further cast the Greeks in a romantic light for Europeans. Comment by

Pride In Ephesians
Pride
One of the greatest pitfalls among God s prophet is unholy pride. It has leveled not a few of God s
highly anointed servants. God will not share His glory with another. Those who are used by God must
quickly learn that everything that is revealed, prophesied or ministered is from Him and not from
themselves. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was no possibility
that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an Issac. The prophet
does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger for God, or
consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment. These things
have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained.
God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. Lucifer grew proud because of His
beauty and wisdom, and then sought to exalt himself above the throne of God through rebellion. The
nature of pride, therefore, is rooted in opposition against divine ... Show more content on

Prophets typically flow in the revelation gifts, which can bring about some amazing things. Names,
addresses, homes, employment and family members may be described with great accuracy. Total
strangers may have their troubling issues described in detail companied with a comforting word of the
Lord. I have seen the anointing so powerfully demonstrated that the prophet could blow on the people
and they fall to the ground. At other times, the coat of the prophet thrown at a bystander could bring
them to the ground at the amazement of the audience. What a prophet must guard against is theatrics
of the sake of grandstanding and large offerings. When all that we do is for attention and not because
it is the heart of God, we fall into the pitfall of performance. It is integrity, not sensationalism, which

The typical product life cycle has four identifiable stages; * Introductory Stage characterized by the

Stage the market for the product shrinks.

From 2007 to 2012 USPS posted net losses in excess of $41 billion with much of that driven by fuel
costs. It currently spends $3.3 billion on highway contracts, while spending only $40 million on
freight rail contracts. USPS should consider shifting part of its mail volume to rail. By making this
change it has been estimated that USPS could save at least $100 million per year. Additionally,
because of its lesser sensitivity to fuel price increases and greater control of its own infrastructure, rail
transportation has major, long term strategic advantages over highway (Berman, 2012).
Total Quality Management Total Quality Management (TQM) is an organizational approach that seeks
to identify and eliminate the root causes of issues that undermine quality whether in a manufacturing
or service organization. As stated previously USPS as a product is in a state of decline and must find
ways to eliminate barriers to attaining its service commitments. Package delivery is a sector of its
market in which it has remained competitive with private carriers such as UPS and FedEX. To
continue to compete and excel in the package delivery arena USPS must insure that it eliminates
barriers to meeting and or exceeding on time delivery expectations. Therefore, I would suggest the use
of control charts to determine the cause of packages being delivered outside the upper control limit.

The Curious Enlightenment of Professor Caritat, written by Steven Lukes. Towards the finale of the

embodiment of enlightenment ideas. In addition, Lukes also wanted to install a stark contrast between
the enlightenment, and the other philosophies discussed in the novel.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen and
made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped Chipotle
become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique, Chipotle must
adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an opportunity in the fast
casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes that fresh and quality
ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such ingredients. To ensure such
ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their restaurants. This not only creates
fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists local farms that supply the organic
food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses produce that is in season. This reduces the
costs of transporting produce and ensures that the ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to
replicate the menu, style, and flavors of Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic
ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does. This is one strength of

Before Night Falls Essay
Before Night Falls
In the novel, Before Night Falls by Reinaldo Arenas who lived from 1943 to 1990, the author conveys
many subjects and captures the reader to the full extent. Reinaldo Arenas, the author and the person
who lived the experience writes this book for us in hopes of capturing our feelings and sympathy of
the Cuban Revolution. Arenas wrote over twenty books, including ten novels and numerous short
stories and poems. Arenas was not the only writer affected though as he states that, All the literature of
this century is somewhat burdened by the theme of uprootedness, (Arenas, 36) which means every
piece of literature surrounded the system of being exiled or the fear of being caught or doing wrong
and being thrown out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book opens to the succulent, splendor forest, full of vivid emotion and color where Arenas started
the beginning of his life in Oriente Province, Cuba. The setting is one of poverty, but the natural world
around him seemed to be beautiful and dazzling. Arenas shows this by saying, The splendor of my
childhood was unique because of its absolute poverty and absolute freedom surrounded by trees,
animals, and people who are indifferent towards me (Arenas 332). This quote foreshadows the rest of
the story in that Reinaldo soon faces indifference from other people because he is unique and is doing
something a different way . Also, this quotation points out the wonderful time he had as a child where
there seemed to be opportunity, before Fidel Castro came into power restricting most rights.
Furthermore, Arenas was free as a child and was uplifted by the cognitive nature of opportunity, but as
he got older the setting started to change and dreams were tarnished and opportunity was thrown away
by political interference. Reinaldo Arenas childhood was the only time of happiness and immaculacy
and throughout the rest of the story Arenas is on a desperate search for enchantment in his once short
lived paradise. As Arenas states in the book, These, to be sure, were farfetched hopes, hopes born of
despair, but hope is, after all, mostly for the desperate (Arenas 260). This quote purely gives an edge
to Arenas personality, saying that he,

Financial Analysis On Financial Statements
Firm Performance: A Review of Financial Statements Financial crises like dot com bubble in the late
1990s and the housing market crash in the late 2000s prompted investors, and firms, to reconsider the
criticality of financial discipline. Transparency would be necessary to entice investors to spend money
again, thus a firm s financial statements became their marketing tools. These examples reinforce the
importance of financial statements relation to the financial wellbeing of a company. This paper serves
as a report on the purpose and aspects of the various financial statements and their applicability to the
performance of a firm.
Income Statements
Income statements, also known as profit and loss statements, are one of the core financial statements
publicly held firms must present annually. Serving as the officially documented representation of
company expenses and revenues over a set duration, the income statement is often used to assess the
performance and profitability of a company (Alvis, n.d.). The key expense items included on an
income statement are: general and administrative expenses (G A), research and development expenses,
depreciation/amortization, and cost of revenue (Alphabet, 2014).
The crucial importance behind the income statement lies in its ability to lay out the relevant facts in a
simplistic manner. By reviewing a company s income statement, one can instantaneously ascertain the
financial productivity of a company and their current

Reflection On What Expectations Did You Have Prior To The...
1. What expectations did you have prior to the service encounter?
For this service encounter, I was hoping, since I had an appointment that I wouldn t have to wait a
long time and that it wasn t crowd. In addition, I was expecting the employees to do their jobs and that
their attitudes were positive.
2. Briefly describe your encounter so that someone who was not there would know what happened.
Exactly, what did the employee/firm say or do? What did you say/do?
The moment I walked through the door I was in fond of this place. The feel of this establishment
oozed out quality service from being greeted by the receptionist to the decor, ambiance, set up, smell,
and cleanliness, I was in total awe. This was my first time here although I ve been hearing good things
about the company via word of mouth. It s been a minute since I ve had a manicure and pedicure and
it was definitely time to treat myself. When I made my appointment over the phone a week before, I
was shocked that I received a reminder text, two days before the actual appointment. On the day of, I
arrived a little early so the receptionist suggested that I sit in one the spa chairs and have a massage
while I waited and then offered me a bottle of water. As I sat there one of the technicians addressed
my by name, introduced herself as Kim, and then asked if I would like to get started on with the
pedicure. I was impressed when the technician unwrapped the instruments that she would be using to

Complications Of Engineering And Engineering
In almost any quantitative field of research (as well as in applied science), the researcher (or, e.g.,
engineer or economist) frequently needs to fit a parametrized function to observed data. In some cases
to make interpolations or extrapolations; the engineer may be interested in values between expensive
measurement points, and the economist may be interested in giving a prognosis for the future. In other
cases, the parameters ( removed HTML ) themselves ( removed HTML ) can be the primary interest.
In nuclear physics, it can be of interest to know the fraction of nuclear reactions yielding a particular
reaction product; this is an example we will return to repeatedly throughout this paper, starting in Sec.

Everything is presented in general terms, allowing for any type of data covariance matrix, i.e., not
only to uncorrelated observations. ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) It is often fruitful to adopt a
Bayesian view, in which the parameters of the fitting function can have a prior distribution (prior to
observing the data), and from fitting, the posterior distribution is obtained. Informally stated, we have
an idea about some of the parameters before observing the data (see Sec. ( removed HTML ) I A (
removed HTML ) for an illuminating example), and we wish to include this knowledge in our final
estimate of the parameters and/or the fitted function. It is a standard procedure to incorporate such a
prior distribution in linear least squares, and it can be included in the LM algorithm by, formally,
treating the prior information as an additional set of data. In this work, however, it is clearly presented
how the data and the prior information can be separated by exploiting the structure of the involved
matrices and vectors, see Sec. ( removed HTML ) II B ( removed HTML ) . ( removed HTML ) (
removed HTML ) Unfortunately, it is not enough that models often are non linear; even worse, they
are often (not to say always) ( removed HTML ) wrong ( removed HTML ) . That is, whatever
parameters we choose, it is impossible to reproduce the truth which is lying behind the observed data.
We call this a model defect. Model defects can

Leisure Mapping Essay
The activities performed for leisure are divided into two categories; passive leisure time and active
leisure time. The department of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (2013) defines
passive leisure time as the time spent on rudimentary activities that require minimal mental and
physical exertion. In contrast, active leisure time is the time spent on leisurely activities that require
the use of physical or mental abilities such as playing sports or socializing. For the purpose of clarity,
the term active leisure time will be referred to as recreation time in this paper as both terms
encompasses similar meanings. From Sunday, January 6th to Saturday, January 12th, a large portion of

When I walk to the courts, I know I am going to be facing some fierce competition that is just how the
guys at the courts are. I probably would not feel the same way if it were women however. At a young
age, I along with other boys my age have been conditioned to play with other boys. I ve been
conditioned to believe that boys are better at sports than girls through the media and through gym
class. (Carron, 1980) Contrastingly, girls are conditioned to believe that they are not as capable in
sport as men are, intimidating images of men being much more skilled and aggressive in sport have
been the main cause of why women shy away from competing with men. (Cohen, 2001)

Analysis Of The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle
The 3rd Sustainment Brigade has been placed on orders to deploy with a latest arrival date (LAD) of
fiscal year (FY) 2021. In order to meet their new mission orders the brigade will need the new Joint
Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) because of their current capability gaps within the asymmetric multi
domain battle space and determine where this vehicles fits into the brigade s mission. The
determination has been made that the brigade will replace one third of their 118 High Mobility
Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMV) with the JLTV. This process will start with the staff
understanding the organization s mission, orders, and capabilities gaps to determine the crosswalk of
these vehicles throughout the brigade. The HMMV is over three ... Show more content on

The increased size of the JLTV to the HMMV allows for increased utility and capacity to support the
sustainment brigade s forward elements within the battlespace. The JLTV s 15 inches higher than the
HMMV at an operational height of 87.6 inches. This additional space allows for increased room
within the cabin of the vehicle for adequate room for C4ISR, additional equipment, and personnel.
The increased height required increases in the length and width adding 14 inches and 10 inches
accordingly. Unlike the HMMV the JLTV has a bolted A structured capsule within an integrated sub
frame that adds additional ballistic protections for the occupants. These attributes and characteristics
increase the movement, force protection, and C4ISR of Soldiers of the brigade as they execute their
mission throughout the battlespace. The brigade will execute its mission of providing mission control
of all its assigned, attached, and operational controlled units in order to provide sustainment
throughout its area of operation. In order for the brigade to meet this requirement ahead of and during
its upcoming deployment the replacement of one third of its HMMV with JLTV is intended to fill a
capability gap. The allocation of which units within the brigade will receive the JLTV was determined
through how each unit will be employed throughout the battlespace. The units that are maneuvering
forward throughout the battlespace will receive the bulk of the allocation to increase

negatively. Some of the impacts of internal and external factors are as follows;
 Starbucks can face threats of new competition by two types of competitors. Small high street cafes
whose startup cost is very low, but they require some time to stabilize. Another is Mc Donald s
entering in the competition by bringing in a wide range of coffee products.
 Due to increase of competitors in the market, Starbucks face a threat of increased bargaining power

When the Roman Empire collapsed, the Catholic Church was the only powerful authority not
complete disrupted by the attack by barbarians. In fact, the work of great Popes is what helped their
power increase even more. The newly christened barbarians, done by the Pope Gregory the Great,
inaugurated a new age in Jesus Christ called Christendom. All culture in Christendom conformed to
that of the Church s, and, with its headquarters in Rome, the powerful papal monarchs , as they were
called, controlled the machine that was the Catholic Church. With newfound challenges of the
Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, and the increase in the Enlightenment s rationalism and
liberalism, an undermining of the Church began to set forth a new era and problems for the Church
that they tried to come back from. Reorganizing at Trent set a new grim determination for the Church
that catapulted their morale against ideas of modern culture. The last of these increasing troubles being
the French Revolution, after which an immense religious revival manifested into the conversion of the
elite in Europe, and extended their reach to every corner of the world, but mostly focusing on the
moral problems taking place in the 19th century influenced by the Industrial Revolution. In the 20th

Learning Theories Applied to Teaching
LEARNING THEORIES AND TEACHING
INTRODUCTION learning is commonly defined as a process that brings together cognitive,
emotional, and environmental influences and experiences for acquiring , enhancing, or making
changes in one s knowledge, skills, values and world views ( llleris,2000; Ormord,1995). This process
could be explained through several theories, some of which include ; behavioral, cognitive,
constructivist, and social cognitive learning theories. Presently teachers make use of these theories in
their classrooms in order to maximize the learning potential of students and also to create a better
learning environment inside the classrooms. This report includes a summary of these different learning

In this way the student could overcome the fear and insecurity and could gain confidence, since he/she
would have realized what to expect. Coming to constructivism, it describes learning process as a
process which involves learners constructing knowledge from their own experiences. According to
this theory, new concepts and ideas are actively constructed by learner, based on their past and present
experiences or knowledge. In applying this theory to a classroom, the teacher acts as a guide or
facilitator, helping students along the way as they try to figure out things on their own. For example,
teacher could ask students questions like, what is your opinion about this? , what do you think is the
answer for this question? , etc..
METHOD

In order to determine the level of application of these theories in Maldivian classrooms by teachers, a

The history of African Americans has been one of pain and struggle. Though they find themselves in a
society that is founded on principles of liberty and equality, African Americans have had to endure a
social, political and economic existence. Perhaps the greatest challenge that most of them had to deal
with is how to get by in a society where whites perceived themselves as superior, while African
Americans struggle at the bottom of the food chain. Over the years, a lot of changes have occurred in a
way that the American society is setup with the aim of making sure that each American gets an equal

Moses And The Sin Of The Israelite
The actual painting is large suggesting that the artist really wants this painting to be seen. Moses is
seen as larger than life size but yet Moses character does not give off an theatrical or a daring persona.
In this painting the colors really give off the feeling of the painting as well as it s structure. In the
painting you see Moses holding the tablet over his head and the pitning stops right at his waist and
there are boulders constructing his path at all angles. The sin of the Israelites is so large that Moses
feels conflicted when he has to destroyed the tablets, that god has constructed and inscribed in. So the
artist places Moses in a inadequate space. This overall outputs the emotional aspect of the painting.

  • 2. Dissonance Theory cause that individual to change overall attitudes toward an object. An alternative to Rosenberg s theory is Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance. While Rosenberg s theory deals with affect and cognition, Festinger s theory examines consistency among cognitive elements or beliefs about oneself, behavior, or environment. Dissonance occurs when elements are logically inconsistent or psychologically inconsistent because of cultural mores, specific opinions deviating from more encompassing opinions, or information or experiences that are contrary to previous information or experiences. Dissonance motivates the individual to reduce the dissonance and return to consonance. When faced with dissonance, the individual seeks to avoid situations or information that may increase dissonance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies on counter attitudinal advocacy are based on dissonance theory. Individuals who are asked to write an essay or present a speech promoting a position contrary to their beliefs become committed to certain aspects of the contrary position. This causes dissonance, which the individuals attempt to reduce by changing their original position or attitude. The stronger the magnitude of the dissonance, the stronger the need to change the original attitude. The simple act of decision making creates dissonance, too. The magnitude of the dissonance is related to the importance of the decision and the attractiveness of both the chosen and the unchosen alternatives. Researchers have a better understanding of the interactions between attitudes and opinions and actions and behaviors, so consistency theories that are not directly related to processes are of little interest to today s cognitive scientists who tend to be more process oriented than behaviorists who studied consistency ... • 3. Germany And Its Impact On The United States Essay In the last few centuries, Europe has experienced major changes both in its population makeup and number. Be that as it may, in the last two decades, it has been faced with an unprecedented decline in population growth while struggling with the issue of an aging population. Indeed, from Helsinki to Lisbon, the birth rate has fallen dramatically in recent years. It has fallen so much so that most countries have put together some form of policies to help mitigate what is perceived as a serious demographic crisis in european capitals. Those policies have yielded different results. While some countries like France are now experiencing a slow growth rate as a result of those policies, others in the likes of Germany are forced to still deal with an ever declining population. In this paper, I will be analyzing, comparing, and contrasting the policies in both countries. Since the end of the second world war, Germany has had undeniable economic performances. Unlike its european counterparts, It has extremely low unemployment, record trade surpluses and a healthy public accounts. However, the fact remains that the long term outlook of its population is less positive as its population continues to decline while the portion of the its aging population surpases the younger part. Demographic trends in Germany and France appear to be divergent. The two countries seem to be in a radically different situations. Germany has a population of 82,175,684 inhabitants. Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children. • 5. Baroque Art Depicted the Religious Tensions During that... Art in the Baroque period was used to depict the religious tensions present at the time. Coincidentally, the philosophy of the time also played a key role in addressing the tensions that existed during the period. As a result of the focus on similar aspects of the society, there emerged numerous similarities between the artwork of the time and the ideas expressed by philosophers such as Descartes and Leibniz. It is critical to assess the views of the different philosophers in order to determine how the artwork was similar to their perceptions of the world. This essay addresses the views of Descartes in relation to the principles of Baroque art. In particular, the essay focuses on the works of Vermeer and Rembrandt, seeking to determine how their art relates to the philosophical views of Descartes. Rembrandt Rembrandt was one of the most influential Baroque artists of the 17th century, with popular works such as the Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp, the Night Watch, and Angel Leaving Tobit and Tobias (Open University of Kaohsiung). His success was based on the fact that his work did not go out of fashion. The spiritual life of Holland during the Baroque period required him because he was relevant in presenting ideas about the period in his work. Some of the most successful works of Rembrandt were depictions of biblical stories that he presented in highly relevant detail. The Contributions Of Artists During The World War One War Part A Plan of Investigation Beginning on August 4th, 1914 to November 11th, 1918, Canada was a part of World War One between the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The First World War brought changes to every aspect of the world from society to medicine to the arts. To analyze the contributions, I will be looking at photographs and images of dazzle camouflage, propaganda posters and military camouflage as primary sources found on the website and at the Canadian War Museum but also using databases and websites such as the Canadian government website for secondary sources and other information. To attempt to discover the causes of anxiety, and what areas of the brain are involved, Jeffrey Grays Behavioural Inhibition System (1982) will be discussed. Uncovering the influence of neuroscience on sexuality and evaluating the appropriateness of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory, Albert Bandura s Modeling Theory and Carl Roger s Person Centered Theory on addressing Maria s sexual problems will be analyzed as well as their contribution to our understanding of human sexuality. Theory Identification Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory is one out of four major theories that have contributed to relevancy of human sexuality. Freud coined the notion that irrational forces, unconscious motivations, biological and instinctual drives that evolve over time are the cause for human behavior (Corey, 2013). Freud believed that parent child interactions within childhood develops a person s unique character type. Thus the plight of the Greeks in their struggle for independence aroused the sympathy of many Europeans, from commoners and government officials to kings and queens. The great British romantic poet, Lord Byron (1788?1824) was seized by the romance of the Greek cause, imagining a reborn land of Socrates (c. 470?399 BCE) and Plato (c. 428?348 BCE), and set off to Greece to take up arms in the cause of Greek independence. • 17. Pride In Ephesians Pride One of the greatest pitfalls among God s prophet is unholy pride. It has leveled not a few of God s highly anointed servants. God will not share His glory with another. Those who are used by God must quickly learn that everything that is revealed, prophesied or ministered is from Him and not from themselves. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was no possibility that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an Issac. The prophet does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger for God, or consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment. These things have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained. God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. It currently spends $3.3 billion on highway contracts, while spending only $40 million on freight rail contracts. USPS should consider shifting part of its mail volume to rail. By making this change it has been estimated that USPS could save at least $100 million per year. Additionally, because of its lesser sensitivity to fuel price increases and greater control of its own infrastructure, rail transportation has major, long term strategic advantages over highway (Berman, 2012).
