The Orange Trees By Gustave Caillebotte
The first artwork made by Gustave Caillebotte is called The Orange Trees, the painting was measured
to be 61 by 46 inches and the creation was made with oil on canvas. It was launched in 1878 and is
currently held at the Aubrey Jones Beck Building. The second artwork created by Paul Ranson is
called the Apple Tree with Red fruit, the painting was measured to be 33 ½ by 46 ¾ inches and the
frame was measured 41 ½ by 55 ¼ inches. Just like Caillebotte created The Orange Trees, it was
created with oil on canvas. The artwork was launched c. 1902 and is also currently kept at the Aubrey
Jones Beck Building. Caillebotte s artwork represents the relaxation in Paris, in a garden at the family
villa. He painted his brother Martial, in a straw hat and purple slippers, and their young cousin Zoë,
dressed in striped chiffon and red boots to show a sense of fashionable leisure. (MFAH). The style of
the painting is impressionism because the artwork shows the recreation of the view that the artist was
trying to give an impression of. Martial, Caillebotte s brother is sitting on a chair and appears to be
larger than Zoë to emphasize that he would be closer to us in the view of the artwork. Caillebotte s
also uses curved lines to create the base of the table and chairs. The Orange Trees artwork is definitely
representational because it shows that they are supposed to represent actual objects. The artwork to me
appears to be asymmetrical due to everything mainly being on the left side of

Liberal Arts Classes Essay
Colleges should require students to take liberal arts classes but the students should be able to choose
which liberal arts class they would like to take. Whether a student takes a literature, art, history, or
even a philosophy class, they will benefit from it in many ways. Students learn a lot from practical and
technical training but they could learn so much more with liberal arts classes. Taking liberal arts
classes can help a student develop grit, relate to real life situations, and help overall development.
If a student had only practical and technical training, they wouldn t have as much grit as if they took
liberal arts classes. This is because a student taking liberal arts class needs more grit in order to

In Donald E. Simanek s article On Being an Excellent Student, he says We even impose
interpretations on things we learn, and avoid learning some things because they don t seem important
at the time. Education can broaden that view, encouraging to set our egos aside and objectively
evaluate facts and interpretations. Liberal arts education is described as useless but it can really help a
person expand their knowledge. Things you learn in liberal arts classes could be useful for the rest of
your life. Simanek also said, Awareness of what s going on in the world around you, and the habit of
intelligently relating it to your academic courses. For example, when taking a course in political
science, you should relate what you are learning in class to what s happening on the national and
world political scene. Political science is considered a liberal arts class, even though a student might
not need this class for their major, they could really benefit from taking it. A student can learn
information from the political science class that could help them understand and relate to what is
going on in the real world. The more you learn, the clearer things

Roland Barthes The Death Of The Author Analysis
Roland Barthes The Death of the Author is a seminal text in literary theory. Published in 1977 in
London, it had a long lasting influence on literary studies, in particular with regard to ideas of
semiotics and logo centric conceptions of meaning and authorship. The text makes a fundamental
claim about the nature of literary production, as well as the way in which a text may be related to by
its readers. Indeed, the essay can be seen to focus on the relation and disjunction between the writer
and the reader, and between the reader and the text. This paper will begin by identifying the specific
claims which Barthes makes in relation to the nature of authorship, and will then go on to reflect on
how this claim informs the general way in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Barthes, therefore, previous literary hermeneutics have been predicated on the
assumption that to read a text is to place oneself in the position of an audience being spoken to by a
single person who wishes to communicate then thoughts and feelings. Barthes claims, however, that
such a reading simply cannot be supported by the reality of what a literary text actually is. He claims
that a modem reader does not relate to a text as if it were something dictated by a particular sovereign
voice. Rather, a modem reader understands a text as a multi dimensional space in which a variety of
writings, non them original, blend and clash (146). He notes that a text is a tissue of quotations drawn
from innumerable centres of culture (ibid). A text without an identifiable author figure is a text which
can only be understood as something whose meaning is potentially legion, and one which contains a
number of conflicting histories. Crucial to this argument is the theological position which is given to
the idea of the author. According to

Differences Between Ming And Qing Dynasties
The Ming and and Qing dynasties lasted from 1368 1912. Although the beginning of the Ming dynasty
was considered China s age of exploration, that was not the case in the latter half of the 15th century.
China became more sinocentric; it focused on internal affairs and secure coastlines. The government
spurned and wrote off the attempted contact of foreign nations. It then entered a period of isolation
with isolationist policies. The Ming government was trying to limit contact with foreign empires and
kingdoms. To do this, they targeted the strong trade that occurred between China and the rest of the
world. The Hongwu emperor, who ruled 1368 1398, created the haijins, or bans that were placed
mainly upon maritime trade. This was the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trade is and has been a critical contribution to furthering civilizations since humans first started. By
not taking part, China did not advance well. The amount of fresh goods and ideas or religions flowing
into China declined with the laws. Although the culture was very highly developed, China s
sinocentrism hurt it in other ways. The laws initiated in the Ming Qing dynasties and how they
represented China s world views had long term effects on the country. While China may have stayed
internally strong and kept fairly self sufficient, when they re entered the rest of the world, they found
themselves behind. Perhaps if the government had decided not to close itself off, the world would look
different today. China was the top world power up until the 17th century. They dominated eastern
Asia, geographically and culturally. They had great access to the trade routes, and gathered ideas and
innovations. They produced so much food that the were able to support a huge population. They
invented groundbreaking technology such as paper, the compass, the wagon, and gunpowder. Before
the period of isolation, they were beginning to send out expeditions. There is evidence they even
reached the Americas before Columbus. If they had not isolated themselves, perhaps

Greek Vase Analysis
The Greek vase shows an importance of Mediterranean art. Also, the Greek vase is the one way to
show an importance of ancient Greek culture. The Greek vase has a variety of shapes, meanings, and
has a variety of functions. The Mixing Vessel with Herakles and Alkyoneus, made by Kleophrades
painter in 480 B.C., it shows the diversity of ancient Greek vase in the shape, function, scenes,
materials, and techniques. During the ancient Greek, a Greek vases are used for carrying wine, oil,
water, etc. Also, Greek vases are formed with many different types of shape. However, the most
common shape of the vase is a krater. The function of a Krater is to mix wine with water. Also, it is
used to cool wine. Mixing vessel with Herakles and Alkyoneus is formed into a volute krater. A volute
krater has a curled handles on each side of the vase. The function of curled handles is to lift the vase
from the ground. Mixing vessel with Herakles and Alkyoneus is used for mixing wine and cooling

African American Contributions to American History
Many blacks contributed to the success of our country in every war that we as a people have ever
fought. In order to properly thank them for their heroic effort, I as a Hispanic Caucasian must give
credit where credit is due. In order to properly do so, I must begin with the contributions of Black
America beginning with the American Revolution and continue up until the World War II. Make no
mistake blacks made contributions well past World War II, but in the interest of time and accuracy I
must stay within the confines of our earlier history. One main aspect that should be analyzed is the fact
that no matter how hard the struggle, blacks have always overcome adversity no matter what the cost.
Of course, contributions made by blacks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some became the founders of the British colony of Sierra Leone in West Africa. Even though the
British offered slaves a better deal, many blacks served on the American side. They made up a
sizeable share of the men in the Continental navy, state navies and the large force of American
privateers. Blacks had long been in the labor force on ships and at seaports. On the water, then as now,
skill counted for more than politics. The precise role of blacks in the revolution is difficult to quantify.
Blacks in those days generally did not write. The people who did write early histories of the revolution
were whites and concentrated on the efforts of white men. Also, many participants in the revolution
were not specifically identified by race in the documents of the time and historians now have no way
of knowing whether they were black. When blacks were allowed to serve in the American military,
they often did work as laborers, sometimes in addition to regular soldier duties. Usually they were
privates, though a few rose to command small groups of men. The words of the Declaration of
Independence were taken literally by blacks and some whites. In, 1780, Pennsylvania became the first

A Research Study On Gm Crops
GM crops are created by inserting a gene externally from an foreign source into unrelated species.
This has granted an ability to overcome many physiological barriers and to exchange genetic
information among all living organisms. The purpose of genetic modification is to create a faster,
efficient, and much more precise way to achieve the same results from artificial selection.
Additionally, it can be used in order to introduce a new trait to the crop that would not be usually
naturally occurring.
These GM crops can have many beneficial traits that improves the overall profile of the plant this
includes: extended shelf life, drought tolerance, pesticidal/herbicidal resistance, and increased
nutritional yield, etc. Many GM crop examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in order for geneticists to identify a gene of interest, they start by looking at other potential
organisms. The geneticist has to identify the trait they desire the organism to have and must find any
other organisms that already contain that gene. Finding a novel gene of interest requires intensive
research into that gene as well as luck. As an example, if a scientist wanted a gene that improved the
nutrient composition of a plant, they would look through many organisms that they believed that
produces that specific nutrient, additionally if a scientist wanted a crop to have a gene that allows it to
survive in drought conditions, they would most likely look for an organism living in those persistently
hotter conditions. Additionally, this also involves testing in order to find the organism with the most
ideal and worthy trait.
Secondly, in order to isolate a gene of interest, comparative gene analysis must be done in order to
locate and decode the specific organisms gene of interest. Whole genome alignment is done with
plants that have and do not have the gene to pinpoint the regions of difference, and if there are no pre
sequenced genomes available to perform comparison tests, scientists will use gene knockouts on the
plant genome till the characteristic of interest is gone, thus identifying the gene that generates the

To A Mouse Analysis
The best laid schemes o mice an men, gang aft agley. Robert Burns states this in his famous poem To a
Mouse, this is believed to have influenced the title of the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
The reason this line from the poem influences the novel does not seem apparent at first, but by the end
of the novel it becomes clear. This novel focuses on two friends, Lennie and George who are migrant
workers in the 1930 s during the great depression. They move from ranch to ranch with each other,
which sets them apart from most because they have each other, while the majority of migrant workers
travel alone. George is a small man who is smart and responsible, and takes care of Lennie. Lennie is a
very large, strong, man, but he is very simple minded, as he is a little mentally challenged. Although
Lennie seems intimidating, he is a very nice man and has the mentality of a child. The novel focuses
on the dream that George and Lennie have of getting their own farm. This is a very important
component of the novel, because presumably, it is the idea of George and Lennie s dream that inspired
the novel s title. Steinbeck conveys the message of Robert Burns poem by showing how easily a
dream or plan can be shattered.
George and Lennie talk about their dream of owning a farm near the beginning of the novel, so we can
assume that they have had this dream for quite some time, especially from the detail George includes
when telling Lennie about it. They want to have their

The Appalachian Region
The Appalachian region is one of the most valuable areas of the United States. It is rich in many
natural aspects and is home to some of the hardest working citizens in this country. Unfortunately,
Appalachia is also home to a variety of harsh social problems including severe drug abuse and a
gripping poverty facing a large portion of Appalachian citizens. The two of these issues seem to go
hand in hand in many cases, so the solution of one could also lead to the solution of the other.
Appalachians have always had a history of handling their own problems, these drastic social problems
are no different.
The entire country is facing a serious drug abuse epidemic, and Appalachia sees the effects of this
epidemic as much or more than any other part of the country. As the coal industry dies, jobs are
disappearing much more quickly than new industries are able to replace the jobs that have been lost.
This is causing many Appalachian citizens to turn to other means of producing an income, whether
they are legal or not. One of the most popular sources of illegal income in Appalachia is the drug
trade, more specifically, the trade of prescription drugs. In the 1990s, many pharmaceutical companies
began aggressively marketing their new prescription drugs such as OxyContin and other prescription
pain killers to the citizens of Appalachia for the abundance of work related injuries from the
dangerous jobs they have done their entire lives. Heroin has also recently become a drug of choice

Starting At A New School
Starting at a New School
The first day of school can be terrifying for some students. However, there are some important and
helpful tips that can help start your journey on the right track, such as how to handle with those who
are racist, how to face people who do the bullying, how to make friends in the classroom and
extracurricular activities, and how to handle outside influences that impact on students learning.
Starting at a new school can be challenging for some new students.
New students may experience racism at a new school. As cited from the American Heritage College
Dictionary1, racism has two definitions. The first is the belief that race accounts for differences in
human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Second is discrimination or
prejudice based on race. Arnold Spirit, Jr. grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation located just
west of Spokane, Washington. As a young teenager, he knew that it would be a challenge for him,
being the only Native American student besides the team mascot attending an all white school but
Arnold went ahead anyway. Arnold thought that learning from the white kids would benefit him so he
determined to leave the reservation to go to Reardan, in order to get a better education. According to
Desmond Tutu, If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.

Disadvantages Of Storage Virtualization
STORAGE VIRTUALIZATION Storage virtualization is the process of grouping physical storage
from multiple storage networks so it is unique. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a
logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage
virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The
management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving
data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. These facilities are made possible by SAN
(Storage area network) which is used to implement storage virtualization. San is a high speed sub
network which consists of shared storage devices. Storage virtualization allows to automatically
expand and reduce the storage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This separation provides greater flexibility to manage the storage. The virtualization system provides
the logical space for data storage and also maps it to the actual physical location. There can be various
layers of virtualization and mapping so the output of one layer can be passed on to the other higher
layers. Virtualization maps between front end and back end resources where the back end refers to a
logical unit number that is not presented to the host system and the front end refers to logical unit
number that is presented to a host system. The actual form of mapping depends on the
implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN
identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. The virtualization software
maintains the mapping information of virtualized storage. The mapping information is called as
metadata and is stored in mapping table. Some implementations do not use mapping table instead they
use algorithms to calculate the location for storage. Dynamic methods can be used for this

Gold Price Is A Good Indicator Essay
Introduction
Gold has been controversial in recent years due to the sharp increase in gold price. Global Economic
Crisis in the year 2008 brought about uncertainty in the global economy. Jewelry, healthcare, and
industrial applications involve the use of gold. Investment in gold by governments, institutions,
private persons and households is another use of gold. Gold became insurance in economic
uncertainty. In uncertain and fragile macroeconomic conditions, we can get protection from inflation
through gold. Gold price is a good indicator to evaluate the health of the economy. Gold price
becomes high in the unhealthy economy because the investors start assembling gold to protect them
from inflation. Drop in gold price means the economy is healthy, as investors switch from gold to
other more profitable investments like bonds, stocks, real estate, etc. To understand the economy,
therefore, it is vital to understand the fluctuations in gold prices.
It is used as a tool in diversifying portfolios, hedging and risk mitigation. The risk in financial market
could be reduced by investing in gold, as it is a safe haven (Le and Chang, 2011). The price of gold is
directly affected by the perceptions about the economy. Gold as an economic indicator is questioned
by some researchers, but it is still recognized as inflation and exchange rate hedge. Gold is considered
as a safe asset in turmoil, investors like to invest in it
Governments give high value to gold. Due to this reason,

Managing Acute Pain On Patients, Along With Post Operative...
Introduction
Managing acute pain in patients, along with post operative recovery pain, is an essential part of
nursing. Because it can affect each and every part of the human body, managing pain is important for
the health and safety of patients. Effective pain management can increase patient satisfaction and
overall well being, fulfilling the role of a nurse. A nurse must be able to look at ways to manage
patients pain, the ethical aspects of managing pain, along with how to educate patients on the matter.
Patient Centered Care in Pain Management As a nurse, establishing a care plan that is individualized

Not only is visually assessing a patient s pain important, but so is having nurse patient interaction.
This includes asking open ended questions and listening to what patients have to say. It is important
not to rush the patient when they are answering so that they can answer to the best of their ability.
Accepting the answers patients give to questions asked means also trusting their answers. This will
give them a sense of safety and security (Baath, Wilde Larsson, Idvall, Hall Lord, 2012). Patient
controlled analgesia (PCA) is an option for helping manage pain in patients. By turning on the dosing
button of an infusion pump, patients can self administer appropriate doses of an analgesic within a
certain time frame. Using the PCA pump allows the patient to treat their pain in a safe way without
allowing the patient to overdose on the analgesia. Understanding the cause and effect relationship
between pain, analgesic administration, and relief is essential in order for a patient to be a candidate to
receive PCA therapy (Cooney et al., 2013). Authorized agent controlled analgesia (AACA) has the
same effects as PCA for those patients who are not eligible to independently use PCA. An authorized
individual activates the dose button for the patient when there is a pain response (Cooney et al., 2013).
Local anesthetics can be used for pain management during a dermal procedure. These can be either
injected or applied

How Industrialization and Urbanization at the Turn of the...
At the turn of the century, Industrialization and Urbanization brought prosperity to Canada and
Canadians by improving and altering their livelihoods for both positive and negative reasons.
According to the authors, Industrialization and urbanization led to the growth of the economy,
development of the east, west and central cities, increase of rural to urban migration, the rise of the
middle class and the recognition of women in the work force. Financial Investment through banks,
foreign, government and private investors led to a boost in the Canadian economy. (Francis, Jones,

However, it can be argued that mechanization caused the loss of job opportunities to Canadians in
rural areas because human and manual labour was replaced by machines that did twice as much work
and functioned better. An example of this is the iron chink that replaced Asian workers (Francis, Jones,
Smith 139). Due to Urbanization, a lot of Canadians were educated and trained in multiple trades
according to the authors. Women were educated in factory, clerical and teaching professions while the
men worked in the mines and construction. This huge step towards female recognition in the
workplace was a big contrast from their previous roles of home making and taking care of domestic
chores. As stated by the authors, women were eventually allowed to practice professional careers. An
example of this is Emily Jennings Stowe who became the first female Canadian to set up a hospital in
Toronto whilst her daughter, Augusta Stowe became the first female to receive a Canadian medical
degree (Francis, Jones, Smith 158). Industrialization caused an upsurge of immigration in the urban
centers leading to the acceleration of urbanization (Francis, Jones, Smith 137). However, this rapid
population growth soon started to cause problems. These include the emergence of slums in highly
populated centers, lack of proper sanitation, deterioration of health and the rise of prohibition evident

Contemporary Art And Artistic Practices
Historical Context The Community based Artistic Practices are not a complete novelty in
contemporary art, their rhetoric are being used as strategic tools, to support discourse such as
democracy, equality, social justice among other, from the 1960s on a explicit way. Even less, this
social turn , understood as an ethical shift by artist and critics who focus their attention on the aspect
of social usefulness of the art practices, characterized by an increase of art projects that emphasize
participation, dialogue and community engagement to activate the public sphere attempting to offer

This art´s condition was throwing into crisis with the emergency of avant garde movements from the
late 19th century in Europe, because these movements recognized on this status autonomy of art a lack
of self criticism by art, not only in the art institution in its separation from the praxis of life ; but also
to bourgeois society as a whole. In other words, the avant garde is understood as a form of self
consciousness of artistic field, with a very clear interest to break the art´s autonomy, while separate
form of production, as a necessary condition to redirect the art into life. According to Peter Bürger,
with the reintegration of art into praxis proposes a revolution in the life, which causes a revolution in
the art. As Bürger states, the avant garde movements that sought to break with the bourgeois autonomy
of art and thereby apply a strong self criticism to art institutionally were: the Russian Constructivism,
closely linked with the Revolution of 1917; Dadaism and its negation of art as institution; and the
Surrealism. Nonetheless, after the World War II in the middle of the 20th century, the avant garde
schism became a crisis, failing in its quest to eliminate the division between art and life and its critical
self consciousness about this, which meant its co option by the art institution,

Jack The Ripper Mo Analysis
MO, Modus operandi is specific to the killer s patterns and routines. A signature is different from the
MO in that the signature is the expression of underlying need of the offender and can be both a way to
link crimes and to draw inferences about the psychological needs of the offender (Gerbeth). Turvey,
however, points out that the signature and the MO can intersect: Signature and MO needs may be
satisfied by the same behavior. As such professionals are able to determine if similar cases are
perpetrated by the same offender by the presence of a signature. As a science, it is still a relatively new
field with few set boundaries or definitions. Its practitioners don t always agree on methodology or
even terminology (Winerman). There is debate among analysists whom argue that the MO remains
constant throughout an offender s serial career and that it is the signature that evolves. The other side
of the argument advocates for the opposite: being that the MO evolves and the signature remains
constant. No matter the argument, the MO and signature is part of an offender s basic profile
comprising the offender s methods of selection and execution. ... Show more content on

The Flynn Theory
There is a theory in psychology, called the Flynn effect that basically shows that each generation is
roughly 10 IQ points higher than its immediate predecessor. According to this theory, if someone was
born with an average IQ in the 1940s, the IQ change will have been so drastic in the time between
then and now, that they would actually be found to be mentally impaired by todays standard of IQ test.
Although only discovered in the 1930s, it is widely accepted that this has always been occurring.
Through lessons taught by older generations and evolution in brain ability, each generation is ability to
comprehend and think in ways that previous generations largely cannot. Of course there are

It would be more than 60 years before the civil war would end in America and end slavery, but this is
the first time where the general sense towards slavery changed. For the first time in human history,
people began to recognize the similarities they shared with one another, rather than the differences.
The thought processes are generational in that younger generations are always a little more liberal and
tolerant than the ones before, but as they grow older and rise to power, their new beliefs attempt to
make the world a better place. In time, the united states went from a country with state sanctioned
racism and discrimination, to one so dedicated to resolving injustice that the country tore itself apart in
order to see that achieve that goal. Granted, the ideas of social justice leading up to the civil war are
far more primitive than the ones current Americans have, but the gradual improvement of the
treatment of non white peoples can be mapped since then. This is not to say that Americans at that
time saw minorities as equals, but the progress of the human race had evolved to a point that almost
all major countries recognized the atrocities of a practice as long as humans had existed, and ended it

Chiari Malformation Research Paper
There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the
cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is
the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and
cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as
spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for
the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the
brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck.
This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is
extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different ,
n.d.).
There are several causes that can be associated with a Chiari malformation. Some of those causes are
associates with a structural defect of the spinal cord during fetal development, injury, or even a lack of

English The Official Language
The United States of America, despite being the most diverse country in the world, does not have an
official language. It has had an English only advocacy since 1919 when the 26th president Theodore
Roosevelt claimed We have room for but one language in this country, and that is the English
language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American
nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding house. (Miller) His point was clear: if you were
an American who did not speak English, you simply were not American. Therefore, there were not as
many minorities back then as there is now. Many people who agree on having the USA s official
language be english say that allowing this to happen would encourage immigrants to learn and adapt
to America s culture. A certain article that accepts this states, Making English the official language
would encourage new immigrants to learn the language of the country they have adopted as theirs.
The end goal is to unite the American people, while improving the lives of immigrants and native born
inhabitants. (Tylt) Many people including myself agree with this. If we have one official language for
the US, it would be practically effortless for others to communicate with each other. Some people will
try to counter argue with how forcing people to speak a single language is fundamentally un American
(Tylt) when in actuality, it will be easier and cheaper than the alternative. In Los Angeles in

Since over 95% of American s manufacturing companies are considered to be small, with less than
100 workers, the trade agreement could be a crippling blow to the industry. American jobs will be lost
and American workers will be laid off. Consumers will suffer, business will suffer, and ultimately
America will suffer. Many argue that free trade will be beneficial for the economy, but exactly who is
benefiting? America won t benefit from this deal unless its export is greater than its import. Reports
from 2014 show that the U.S. imported $2.34 trillion in goods compared to exporting $1.62 trillion
(Nash Hoff, 2015). This imbalance created a huge deficit over $720 billion, which is not even close to
being beneficial for the economy or the nation as a whole. The Peterson Institute for International
Economics estimates that the TPP would add $77.5 billion of income to the U.S. economy by 2025
(Miller, 2015). Although this seems like quite a large amount of money, it actually only represents a
gain of about 0.38% over the next decade. Some people believe this trade agreement will cause new
jobs to spring up but, in truth, a trade agreement does not on balance, create, or destroy jobs, it alters
the composition of the workforce (Miller, 2015). The income from the trade agreement wouldn t even
be a benefit to the workforce. A Center for Economic and Policy Research report looked into the

The proposed process for receiving raw materials will be through the use of hand held bar code
scanners throughout each department. As the product is received, the bar code labels on the containers
will be scanned which will automatically input the part number and quantity into the receiving
department. After product inspection, the material is moved to its designated storage space inside the
warehouse. As the material is needed in production, it is scanned and moved out of storage into the
work in process area, which will allow the system to remove it from available inventory. As the final
product is produced, it is loaded on labeled pallets that will be shipped to designated customers.
Implementation of barcode scanners will enable a more consistent, accurate, and timely recording of

A Leader s Leadership Team
1.0 Introduction The term leader is defined as an individual who can lead and influence a group of
individuals to achieve a common goal (Grint, 2010). Being an effective leader takes time, experience,
and lots of maturity. What traits do effective leaders possess? How is the vision of the organization
implemented by the leader into the team? How can a leader build and manage a team? This paper will
talk about all these points in detail. L Arche Toronto is heavily relied on team work. This is evident
with the team structure that is currently in place for each of the four group homes including the main

A leader is able to influence the people around them to cooperatively commit to accomplish a certain
goal. There are traits that differentiates a leader from the non leaders: ambition, self confidence,
cognitive ability, honesty and integrity, and motivation (Grint, 2010). 2.1 Ambition Leaders should
have a moderately high ambition for success. Amongst effective leaders the need for efficiently
completing tasks to perfection is a significant driving force. Developing better ways of completing
tasks, earning high standards of excellence, and successfully accomplishing challenging tasks satisfies
the high achievers. Leaders must be ambitious on making their way to the top of the organization. A
successful leader vigorously take extra steps to demonstrate their drive and determination; they
continuously work toward improvement and success. Ambitious leaders set challenging goals for
themselves and their team to strive for success. They must have a lot of energy to endure their high
accomplishment drive. They must have resilient physical, emotional, and mental vitality to work long,
and intense hours. This permits the leader to gain practical knowledge, both through education and
work experience. Leaders have the tenacity to overcome obstacles than non leaders as they are
persistent in their activities. They are able to work with distant goals in view and have a high degree of
perseverance. They are very proactive and can immediately take action that

Analysis Of Three Fundamental Assumptions Are Made
Throughout this policy paper, three fundamental assumptions are made:
1. The Murdell Flemming Model is a fundamentally sound method of analysis.
2. A global trend toward liberalization of free trade is both strictly current and strictly relevant to
Chinese economic growth.
3. The power dynamic between host country, home country, and Multinational Corporation is a
driving factor in cross regional mergers and acquisitions and thereby domestic economic growth as
measured by nominal gross domestic product.
The Murdell Flemming Trilemma or Unholy Trinity states that a government can only generate policy
that satisfies two of three general desires; these desires are exchange rate stability, capital mobility,
and domestic monetary autonomy (Cohen, 2010). Concerning the China, the general international
monetary choices should be capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy. In an era where
multinational corporations are increasingly looking to cross regional mergers and acquisitions to
create value, it is more important than ever for China to retain capital mobility and domestic monetary
autonomy (Cross Regional, 2015). Through an examination of multinational corporations and
domestic monetary policy choices, the need for capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy
become clear. This need is proven through the effects these policy choices have on domestic monetary
value and the subsequent consequences these effects have on cross regional mergers and acquisitions.

Reflection On Dance
I am very glad that I was able to take dance composition this quarter. From the first few classes, I
knew that this class would be what I looked forward to most. Reflecting back, there were so many
times when I would run up to my friends at home after class and tell them about the mind blowing
things that happened in composition that day. What ensued during class time was always a fun and
exciting dinner conversation topic. The first assignment of free writing then crossing everything out
was a refreshing start to the quarter. The act of trashing what I just put effort into was a feeling I do
not think I have experienced before that moment. It made me reflect about attachment, even to things
that were very insignificant, considering what I free wrote about was very unimportant. Detaching
myself from my choreography is one of the big ideas that I am taking away from this class. What
makes what I created so important? Making movement looking forward, I will always think back to
this and will try my best to be open to discarding things more easily. One of my favorite classes was
the slow motion walk day. I did not know what to expect at all. I thought I would be bored and not
have a good time at all. The opposite happened, even before the whole protester debacle, it was so
entertaining to experience everyday life at that pace. I hope that I will have the time over break to do
this activity again. I want everyone I know to experience the feeling of slow motion, so

Minors Committing Violent Crimes and Being Tried as Adults
Should minors who commit violent crimes be tried as adults?
Sylvia B. McCrorey

Research Writing
October 17, 2012
INTRODUCTION:
The reason I selected this topic is because I feel that today s generation of youth and children have
been led mainly because of peer pressure which sometimes cause them to make bad choices. This
usually causes minors to do some things that are wrong before they think about the consequences.
They should be given consideration based on their age and all aspects of their background should be
looked at before sentencing them for violent crimes.
REASONS WHY CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE TRIED AS ADULTS In reading an article
published ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This belief is anchored in the large disparity in crime rates between whites and blacks. However, a
closer look at the data shows that the real variable is not race but family structure and all that it
implies in commitment and love between adults. The incidence of broken families is much higher in
the black community. Douglas Smith and G. Roger Jarjoura, in a major 1988 study of 11,000
individuals, found that the percentage of single parent households with children between the ages of
12 and 20 is significantly associated with rates of violent crime and burglary. The same study makes
clear that the widespread popular assumption that there is an association between race and crime is
false. Illegitimacy is the key factor. It is the absence of marriage, and the failure to form and maintain
intact families, that explains the incidence of high crime in a neighborhood among whites as well as
blacks. This contradicts conventional wisdom. (Fagan, 1995)
CONCLUSION
It is stated and quoted: Today s children are bombarded with images of violence in cartoons, news
reports, television shows, computer games, movies, and other media. In growing numbers, they are
also exposed to real life violence in their own homes and communities as witnesses, victims, and,
increasingly, perpetrators. Too often, children learn that violence is an acceptable way to resolve
conflict. Yet even

Research Paper On State Lotteries
State Lotteries: Take a Second Look From the time the Europeans first landed on the Atlantic shore,
lotteries have been a part of the American society. According to Will Spink, most states are currently
operating a state lottery despite its bleak history in the U.S. (Spink 1). Since 1983, North Carolina has
introduced lottery bills in the legislature every year (NC Christian 15). North Carolina Governor, Mike
Easley, favors a lottery for increasing revenues for education (Analysis 2). However lucrative state
lotteries appear on the surface, they create even more moral and financial difficulties for citizens, and
this should encourage states to look at other means of resources instead of legalized gambling. In a

Governor Easley proposes that lottery taxes will supplement and not replace other taxes that support
education (Analysis 2). Other states have had the exact opposite to occur. In California, ninety percent
of school superintendents believe it had an adverse effect on their getting other funds for their schools.
In 1987, a study was conducted in Illinois that gave validity to what many lottery opponents claim
happens in many cases: While the lottery money to education increases, the total education funding in
the state budget increases at a lower rate than it has in previous years (Spink 3). Money magazine s
study proved that states with lotteries designate a lower percentage of their total budget to education
than do states without a lottery. However, proponents could point to the fact that lottery states on an
average spend more on education per student, than non lottery states (NC Insider 2). Research has
difficulty proving or disproving social consequences of lotteries. A survey by Gam Anon, the family
counterpart of Gamblers Anonymous, did reveal that ten percent of its members abused their children,
and fifty percent of the spouses reported physical and verbal abuse. Crimes like burglary, larceny, and
auto theft increase by an average of three percent in states that implement a state lottery. Sixty percent
of heavy gamblers admit to some sort of criminal activity within the past year . (Economic Facts 4).

Twelfth Night Criticism
William Shakespeare and The Twelfth Night
Known for his tragedies, comedies, sonnets and love stories, William Shakespeare is argued to be one
of the best writers of his time. Throughout his plays, including The Twelfth Night, he uses disguise
and deceit to fool the other characters to benefit another. Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in the
town Stratford upon Avon. Although the exact date of his birth is not known, historians traditionally
celebrate it on the 23rd. He was one of eight children born to John Shakespeare, a well known
merchant in his community. Not much is known about his Mother, or of his schooling. It is said that
Shakespeare probably attended the King s New School in Stratford, but had no ... Show more content

Was not this love indeed? (II.iv.111 114)
The audience, like Orsino, can only answer with an emphatic yes.
Viola s chief problem throughout the play is one of identity. Because of her disguise, she must be both
herself and Cesario. This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola finds
herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware of who she
actually is. Were Twelfth Night not a comedy, this pressure might cause Viola to break down.
Sebastian s appearance at this point, however, effectively saves Viola by allowing her to be herself
again. Sebastian, who independent of his sister is not much of a character, takes over the aspects of
Viola s disguise that she no longer wishes to maintain. Thus liberated by her brother, Viola is free to
shed the roles that she has accumulated throughout the play, and she can return to being Viola, the
woman who has loved and won Orsino.
Orsino and Olivia
Orsino and Olivia are worth discussing together, because they have similar personalities. Both claim
to be buffeted by strong emotions, but both ultimately seem to be self indulgent individuals who enjoy
melodrama and self involvement more than anything. When we first meet them, Orsino is pining away
for love of Olivia, while Olivia pines away for her dead brother. They show no interest in relating to

Disadvantages Of Bicyclist
Bicyclists seem to want all the same privileges as a motor vehicle but not the responsibility. I have not
only witnessed numerous instances of bicyclists running stop signs, but also experienced a near
accident caused by a cyclist running a stop sign.
There could be numerous reasons why bicyclists run stop signs. One could be that they are completely
unaware of traffic laws. It also could be that they don t want to lose momentum by stopping and
having to start again, or they simply don t care. No matter the reason, they re endangering the other
people on the road. I find this very concerning and dangerous. If cyclists want to be treated equally
with motor vehicles, they should realize that they must also follow the same laws and face the same
penalties. When you strap on you re helmet and straddle you re bike you re now legally responsible to
follow the same rules of the road as an automobile.
When living in a large metropolitan city, there are an extreme amount of cars on the streets. This
contributes to smog, emissions, and a huge carbon footprint on mother earth. People are thankful for
others who take this into consideration and ride bicycles instead of driving, but this doesn t make the
bicyclist a better person, even though some of them act like it.
Living in a small town that may have only a few intersections with stoplights or stop signs, one may
feel freer to break the rules of the road, and the consequences are less harmful. When you run through

The House Of Bernarda Alba Themes
Freedom and Repression: How opposing themes go hand in hand In the play by Federico Garcia
Lorca, The House of Bernarda Alba, a recurring theme throughout the play is freedom. Lorca
expresses freedom using characters, situations and objects. The characters in the story are Bernarda s
daughters who are under her control and have extremely little freedom and privacy by being forced to
abide by her rules. Freedom and Repression are most significant themes conveyed throughout the
play, the two opposing themes together are important to understanding both the characters and the
story as well. In the beginning of the play the girls are put into an eight year mourning period by
Bernarda because of the death of their father. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martirio once had a man interested in her but that opportunity was snatched away from her by
Bernarda. On page 191 Poncia says, Martirio is lovesick, I don t care what you say. Why didn t you let
her marry enrique Humanas? Why, on the very day he was coming to her window did you send him a
message not to come? And Bernarda responded, ... My blood won t mingle with the Humanas while I
live! This is an example of how different Martirio s circumstances were from Adela and Angustias.
Martirio was repressed from her desire for freedom from her mother and became jealous when her
sister s were not denied in the same way. These two themes lead the characters to believe that escaping
one prison will make them free, only to be confined to another. This is the situation the women in the
play recognize as a inner conflict. An example of this is on page 169 when Amelia says, These days a
girl doesn t know whether to have a beau or not. Additionally, On page 208 Adela says, I can t stand
this horrible house after the taste of his mouth. I ll be what he wants me to be. This quote shows how
the girls view men as an escape from their sheltered home. Men represent freedom as well as
repression. For Example, On page 169 it says ... Her sweetheart doesn t let her go out even to the front
doorstep. This shows us that Bernarda s daughters realize if they stay at home forever, they will be
controlled by their mother,

vineyard is located in the crisp Green Valley Zone of the Russian River Valley. It is a ten acre vineyard

vineyards in the area. This vineyard can be noted as very cool and often extremely fog filled in the
mornings and afternoons. Tina Marie is noted for great viticulture, and the owner and grower himself,
Ron Black, is proud to make sure of it. Dijon Clone 115 is planted on half of the ten acres, while a

The check in at our next lodging venue is not until 3:00 PM, so we swiftly head towards our next
activity: Ambassador Winery Tour for $540 total and an hour and ten minute drive. This tour includes
a beautiful and calm train ride to several wineries that begins at 10:30 AM, with lunch included. The
first stop is at Charles Krug Winery, a St. Helena AVA, that is one of the oldest wineries in Napa
Valley, founded in 1861 by the Russian immigrant, Charles Krug. Charles Krug is noted as launching
the cider press for winemaking, which is still on display at his winery today. This AVA is covered by
the Western Hills, with less wind, and a warm climate. The summers get very hot ranging in the high
90 s, which results in more heat reflection from the narrow valley floor. The elevation stands at 150 to
600 feet with the rainfall from 38 to 40 inches each year. The south and west region soils contain
gravel clay soil, with modest water retention and little fertility, whereas, the north and east region soils
are deeper and much more fertile. Their fourth vintage of their limited release Sauvignon Blanc is a
beautiful white wine with a white peach and lime aroma, along with the taste of mint and white
grapefruit. With a perfected

The first structure to appear in a germinating seedling is a root. This is so that the seedling can acquire
nutrients and water from the soil as well as begin its journey to the surface for sunlight.
The seedlings should be a color of white. This is due to the fact that the seedlings have not seen any
sunlight previously, preventing the formation of chlorophyll. Once the seedlings are exposed to
sunlight, they can begin to produce chlorophyll and attain their signature green color.

Ben Jerry s Data Warehouse
1. If I were to design Ben amp; Jerry s data warehouse I would use several dimensions of information.
The first dimension would consist of the company s products; ice cream, frozen yogurt or
merchandise. The marketing department has to know which products are selling, if Ben amp; Jerry s
didn t know that their T shirts are selling out as soon as they hit the stores, then they wouldn t be able
to take advantage of the opportunity to sell the shirts. The second dimension would consist of the
different areas of sales; US, Canada, Mexico, or Europe. I am not sure if they sell their ice cream in
Mexico, but with data collection they can find out if their ice cream would be a better seller in the hot
climate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary key for the Store file would be the store number, or code. Some of the foreign keys
would be; delivery dates, order dates, sales, and customer complaints. The Employee files primary key
would be an employee number. The foreign keys for the Employee files would be; start date, wage,
shift, employee address, paid time off, and absences. The Product file would have a primary key of
product name, for example, Cherry Garcia. The foreign keys would be product type (ice cream/frozen
yogurt), amount in stock, amount sold, ingredients, and comments. Comments sounds like a useless
bit of information, but I think it could be one of the most useful. When it comes to a decline in ice
cream sales a comment query could tell managers exactly what flavor people really want. In the case
Ben amp; Jerry s received a large number of complaints that it s Cherry Garcia ice cream didn t have
enough cherries in it. Using the business intelligence with Business Objects helped them discover a
problem with their packaging, and solve the problem.
3. What is the question that any business should be asking itself? How do we cut costs? Using
business intelligence, Ben amp; Jerry s can look at how they can cut costs. From a financial
perspective we could run a query to see what it costs to make the top 5 selling flavors, once

  • 2. The Orange Trees By Gustave Caillebotte The first artwork made by Gustave Caillebotte is called The Orange Trees, the painting was measured to be 61 by 46 inches and the creation was made with oil on canvas. It was launched in 1878 and is currently held at the Aubrey Jones Beck Building. The second artwork created by Paul Ranson is called the Apple Tree with Red fruit, the painting was measured to be 33 ½ by 46 ¾ inches and the frame was measured 41 ½ by 55 ¼ inches. Just like Caillebotte created The Orange Trees, it was created with oil on canvas. The artwork was launched c. 1902 and is also currently kept at the Aubrey Jones Beck Building. Caillebotte s artwork represents the relaxation in Paris, in a garden at the family villa. He painted his brother Martial, in a straw hat and purple slippers, and their young cousin Zoë, dressed in striped chiffon and red boots to show a sense of fashionable leisure. (MFAH). The style of the painting is impressionism because the artwork shows the recreation of the view that the artist was trying to give an impression of. Martial, Caillebotte s brother is sitting on a chair and appears to be larger than Zoë to emphasize that he would be closer to us in the view of the artwork. Caillebotte s also uses curved lines to create the base of the table and chairs. The Orange Trees artwork is definitely representational because it shows that they are supposed to represent actual objects. The artwork to me appears to be asymmetrical due to everything mainly being on the left side of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Liberal Arts Classes Essay Colleges should require students to take liberal arts classes but the students should be able to choose which liberal arts class they would like to take. Whether a student takes a literature, art, history, or even a philosophy class, they will benefit from it in many ways. Students learn a lot from practical and technical training but they could learn so much more with liberal arts classes. Taking liberal arts classes can help a student develop grit, relate to real life situations, and help overall development. If a student had only practical and technical training, they wouldn t have as much grit as if they took liberal arts classes. This is because a student taking liberal arts class needs more grit in order to successfully finish. Just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Donald E. Simanek s article On Being an Excellent Student, he says We even impose interpretations on things we learn, and avoid learning some things because they don t seem important at the time. Education can broaden that view, encouraging to set our egos aside and objectively evaluate facts and interpretations. Liberal arts education is described as useless but it can really help a person expand their knowledge. Things you learn in liberal arts classes could be useful for the rest of your life. Simanek also said, Awareness of what s going on in the world around you, and the habit of intelligently relating it to your academic courses. For example, when taking a course in political science, you should relate what you are learning in class to what s happening on the national and world political scene. Political science is considered a liberal arts class, even though a student might not need this class for their major, they could really benefit from taking it. A student can learn information from the political science class that could help them understand and relate to what is going on in the real world. The more you learn, the clearer things ... • 4. Roland Barthes The Death Of The Author Analysis Roland Barthes The Death of the Author is a seminal text in literary theory. Published in 1977 in London, it had a long lasting influence on literary studies, in particular with regard to ideas of semiotics and logo centric conceptions of meaning and authorship. The text makes a fundamental claim about the nature of literary production, as well as the way in which a text may be related to by its readers. Indeed, the essay can be seen to focus on the relation and disjunction between the writer and the reader, and between the reader and the text. This paper will begin by identifying the specific claims which Barthes makes in relation to the nature of authorship, and will then go on to reflect on how this claim informs the general way in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Barthes, therefore, previous literary hermeneutics have been predicated on the assumption that to read a text is to place oneself in the position of an audience being spoken to by a single person who wishes to communicate then thoughts and feelings. Barthes claims, however, that such a reading simply cannot be supported by the reality of what a literary text actually is. He claims that a modem reader does not relate to a text as if it were something dictated by a particular sovereign voice. Rather, a modem reader understands a text as a multi dimensional space in which a variety of writings, non them original, blend and clash (146). He notes that a text is a tissue of quotations drawn from innumerable centres of culture (ibid). A text without an identifiable author figure is a text which can only be understood as something whose meaning is potentially legion, and one which contains a number of conflicting histories. Crucial to this argument is the theological position which is given to the idea of the author. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Differences Between Ming And Qing Dynasties The Ming and and Qing dynasties lasted from 1368 1912. Although the beginning of the Ming dynasty was considered China s age of exploration, that was not the case in the latter half of the 15th century. China became more sinocentric; it focused on internal affairs and secure coastlines. The government spurned and wrote off the attempted contact of foreign nations. It then entered a period of isolation with isolationist policies. The Ming government was trying to limit contact with foreign empires and kingdoms. To do this, they targeted the strong trade that occurred between China and the rest of the world. Trade is and has been a critical contribution to furthering civilizations since humans first started. By not taking part, China did not advance well. The amount of fresh goods and ideas or religions flowing into China declined with the laws. Although the culture was very highly developed, China s sinocentrism hurt it in other ways. The laws initiated in the Ming Qing dynasties and how they represented China s world views had long term effects on the country. While China may have stayed internally strong and kept fairly self sufficient, when they re entered the rest of the world, they found themselves behind. Perhaps if the government had decided not to close itself off, the world would look different today. China was the top world power up until the 17th century. They dominated eastern Asia, geographically and culturally. They had great access to the trade routes, and gathered ideas and innovations. They produced so much food that the were able to support a huge population. They invented groundbreaking technology such as paper, the compass, the wagon, and gunpowder. Before the period of isolation, they were beginning to send out expeditions. There is evidence they even reached the Americas before Columbus. If they had not isolated themselves, perhaps ... In order to properly thank them for their heroic effort, I as a Hispanic Caucasian must give credit where credit is due. In order to properly do so, I must begin with the contributions of Black America beginning with the American Revolution and continue up until the World War II. Make no mistake blacks made contributions well past World War II, but in the interest of time and accuracy I must stay within the confines of our earlier history. One main aspect that should be analyzed is the fact that no matter how hard the struggle, blacks have always overcome adversity no matter what the cost. Of course, contributions made by blacks ... On the water, then as now, skill counted for more than politics. The precise role of blacks in the revolution is difficult to quantify. Blacks in those days generally did not write. The people who did write early histories of the revolution were whites and concentrated on the efforts of white men. Also, many participants in the revolution were not specifically identified by race in the documents of the time and historians now have no way of knowing whether they were black. When blacks were allowed to serve in the American military, they often did work as laborers, sometimes in addition to regular soldier duties. Usually they were privates, though a few rose to command small groups of men. The words of the Declaration of Independence were taken literally by blacks and some whites. First, in order for geneticists to identify a gene of interest, they start by looking at other potential organisms. The geneticist has to identify the trait they desire the organism to have and must find any other organisms that already contain that gene. Finding a novel gene of interest requires intensive research into that gene as well as luck. As an example, if a scientist wanted a gene that improved the nutrient composition of a plant, they would look through many organisms that they believed that produces that specific nutrient, additionally if a scientist wanted a crop to have a gene that allows it to survive in drought conditions, they would most likely look for an organism living in those persistently hotter conditions. Additionally, this also involves testing in order to find the organism with the most ideal and worthy trait. Secondly, in order to isolate a gene of interest, comparative gene analysis must be done in order to locate and decode the specific organisms gene of interest. Whole genome alignment is done with plants that have and do not have the gene to pinpoint the regions of difference, and if there are no pre sequenced genomes available to perform comparison tests, scientists will use gene knockouts on the plant genome till the characteristic of interest is gone, thus identifying the gene that generates the ... • 10. To A Mouse Analysis The best laid schemes o mice an men, gang aft agley. Robert Burns states this in his famous poem To a Mouse, this is believed to have influenced the title of the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The reason this line from the poem influences the novel does not seem apparent at first, but by the end of the novel it becomes clear. This novel focuses on two friends, Lennie and George who are migrant workers in the 1930 s during the great depression. They move from ranch to ranch with each other, which sets them apart from most because they have each other, while the majority of migrant workers travel alone. George is a small man who is smart and responsible, and takes care of Lennie. Lennie is a very large, strong, man, but he is very simple minded, as he is a little mentally challenged. Although Lennie seems intimidating, he is a very nice man and has the mentality of a child. The novel focuses on the dream that George and Lennie have of getting their own farm. This is a very important component of the novel, because presumably, it is the idea of George and Lennie s dream that inspired the novel s title. Steinbeck conveys the message of Robert Burns poem by showing how easily a dream or plan can be shattered. George and Lennie talk about their dream of owning a farm near the beginning of the novel, so we can assume that they have had this dream for quite some time, especially from the detail George includes when telling Lennie about it. It is rich in many natural aspects and is home to some of the hardest working citizens in this country. Unfortunately, Appalachia is also home to a variety of harsh social problems including severe drug abuse and a gripping poverty facing a large portion of Appalachian citizens. The two of these issues seem to go hand in hand in many cases, so the solution of one could also lead to the solution of the other. Appalachians have always had a history of handling their own problems, these drastic social problems are no different. The entire country is facing a serious drug abuse epidemic, and Appalachia sees the effects of this epidemic as much or more than any other part of the country. As the coal industry dies, jobs are disappearing much more quickly than new industries are able to replace the jobs that have been lost. This is causing many Appalachian citizens to turn to other means of producing an income, whether they are legal or not. One of the most popular sources of illegal income in Appalachia is the drug trade, more specifically, the trade of prescription drugs. In the 1990s, many pharmaceutical companies began aggressively marketing their new prescription drugs such as OxyContin and other prescription pain killers to the citizens of Appalachia for the abundance of work related injuries from the dangerous jobs they have done their entire lives. Starting at a new school can be challenging for some new students. New students may experience racism at a new school. As cited from the American Heritage College Dictionary1, racism has two definitions. The first is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Second is discrimination or prejudice based on race. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. The actual form of mapping depends on the implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. • 15. Gold Price Is A Good Indicator Essay Introduction Gold has been controversial in recent years due to the sharp increase in gold price. Global Economic Crisis in the year 2008 brought about uncertainty in the global economy. Jewelry, healthcare, and industrial applications involve the use of gold. Investment in gold by governments, institutions, private persons and households is another use of gold. Gold became insurance in economic uncertainty. In uncertain and fragile macroeconomic conditions, we can get protection from inflation through gold. Gold price is a good indicator to evaluate the health of the economy. Gold price becomes high in the unhealthy economy because the investors start assembling gold to protect them from inflation. Drop in gold price means the economy is healthy, as investors switch from gold to other more profitable investments like bonds, stocks, real estate, etc. To understand the economy, therefore, it is vital to understand the fluctuations in gold prices. It is used as a tool in diversifying portfolios, hedging and risk mitigation. The risk in financial market could be reduced by investing in gold, as it is a safe haven (Le and Chang, 2011). The price of gold is directly affected by the perceptions about the economy. Gold as an economic indicator is questioned by some researchers, but it is still recognized as inflation and exchange rate hedge. Gold is considered as a safe asset in turmoil, investors like to invest in it Governments give high value to gold. Due to this reason, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Accepting the answers patients give to questions asked means also trusting their answers. This will give them a sense of safety and security (Baath, Wilde Larsson, Idvall, Hall Lord, 2012). Patient controlled analgesia (PCA) is an option for helping manage pain in patients. By turning on the dosing button of an infusion pump, patients can self administer appropriate doses of an analgesic within a certain time frame. Using the PCA pump allows the patient to treat their pain in a safe way without allowing the patient to overdose on the analgesia. Understanding the cause and effect relationship between pain, analgesic administration, and relief is essential in order for a patient to be a candidate to receive PCA therapy (Cooney et al., 2013). Authorized agent controlled analgesia (AACA) has the same effects as PCA for those patients who are not eligible to independently use PCA. At the turn of the century, Industrialization and Urbanization brought prosperity to Canada and Canadians by improving and altering their livelihoods for both positive and negative reasons. According to the authors, Industrialization and urbanization led to the growth of the economy, development of the east, west and central cities, increase of rural to urban migration, the rise of the middle class and the recognition of women in the work force. Due to Urbanization, a lot of Canadians were educated and trained in multiple trades according to the authors. Women were educated in factory, clerical and teaching professions while the men worked in the mines and construction. This huge step towards female recognition in the workplace was a big contrast from their previous roles of home making and taking care of domestic chores. As stated by the authors, women were eventually allowed to practice professional careers. An example of this is Emily Jennings Stowe who became the first female Canadian to set up a hospital in Toronto whilst her daughter, Augusta Stowe became the first female to receive a Canadian medical degree (Francis, Jones, Smith 158). This belief is anchored in the large disparity in crime rates between whites and blacks. However, a closer look at the data shows that the real variable is not race but family structure and all that it implies in commitment and love between adults. The incidence of broken families is much higher in the black community. Douglas Smith and G. Roger Jarjoura, in a major 1988 study of 11,000 individuals, found that the percentage of single parent households with children between the ages of 12 and 20 is significantly associated with rates of violent crime and burglary. The same study makes clear that the widespread popular assumption that there is an association between race and crime is false. Illegitimacy is the key factor. It is the absence of marriage, and the failure to form and maintain intact families, that explains the incidence of high crime in a neighborhood among whites as well as blacks. This contradicts conventional wisdom. Twelfth Night Criticism William Shakespeare and The Twelfth Night Known for his tragedies, comedies, sonnets and love stories, William Shakespeare is argued to be one of the best writers of his time. Throughout his plays, including The Twelfth Night, he uses disguise and deceit to fool the other characters to benefit another. Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in the town Stratford upon Avon. Although the exact date of his birth is not known, historians traditionally celebrate it on the 23rd. He was one of eight children born to John Shakespeare, a well known merchant in his community. Not much is known about his Mother, or of his schooling. It is said that Shakespeare probably attended the King s New School in Stratford, but had no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was not this love indeed? (II.iv.111 114) The audience, like Orsino, can only answer with an emphatic yes. Viola s chief problem throughout the play is one of identity. Because of her disguise, she must be both herself and Cesario. This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola finds herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware of who she actually is. Were Twelfth Night not a comedy, this pressure might cause Viola to break down. Sebastian s appearance at this point, however, effectively saves Viola by allowing her to be herself again. Sebastian, who independent of his sister is not much of a character, takes over the aspects of Viola s disguise that she no longer wishes to maintain. Thus liberated by her brother, Viola is free to shed the roles that she has accumulated throughout the play, and she can return to being Viola, the woman who has loved and won Orsino. Orsino and Olivia Orsino and Olivia are worth discussing together, because they have similar personalities. Both claim to be buffeted by strong emotions, but both ultimately seem to be self indulgent individuals who enjoy melodrama and self involvement more than anything. When we first meet them, Orsino is pining away for love of Olivia, while Olivia pines away for her dead brother. They show no interest in relating to the outside world, ... • 37. Disadvantages Of Bicyclist Bicyclists seem to want all the same privileges as a motor vehicle but not the responsibility. I have not only witnessed numerous instances of bicyclists running stop signs, but also experienced a near accident caused by a cyclist running a stop sign. There could be numerous reasons why bicyclists run stop signs. One could be that they are completely unaware of traffic laws. It also could be that they don t want to lose momentum by stopping and having to start again, or they simply don t care. No matter the reason, they re endangering the other people on the road. I find this very concerning and dangerous. If cyclists want to be treated equally with motor vehicles, they should realize that they must also follow the same laws and face the same penalties. When you strap on you re helmet and straddle you re bike you re now legally responsible to follow the same rules of the road as an automobile. When living in a large metropolitan city, there are an extreme amount of cars on the streets. This contributes to smog, emissions, and a huge carbon footprint on mother earth. People are thankful for others who take this into consideration and ride bicycles instead of driving, but this doesn t make the bicyclist a better person, even though some of them act like it. Living in a small town that may have only a few intersections with stoplights or stop signs, one may feel freer to break the rules of the road, and the consequences are less harmful. Martirio once had a man interested in her but that opportunity was snatched away from her by Bernarda. On page 191 Poncia says, Martirio is lovesick, I don t care what you say. Why didn t you let her marry enrique Humanas? Why, on the very day he was coming to her window did you send him a message not to come? And Bernarda responded, ... My blood won t mingle with the Humanas while I live! This is an example of how different Martirio s circumstances were from Adela and Angustias. Martirio was repressed from her desire for freedom from her mother and became jealous when her sister s were not denied in the same way. These two themes lead the characters to believe that escaping one prison will make them free, only to be confined to another. This is the situation the women in the play recognize as a inner conflict. An example of this is on page 169 when Amelia says, These days a girl doesn t know whether to have a beau or not. Additionally, On page 208 Adela says, I can t stand this horrible house after the taste of his mouth. I ll be what he wants me to be. This quote shows how the girls view men as an escape from their sheltered home. Men represent freedom as well as repression. For Example, On page 169 it says ...
