Experience Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Experience Essay Topics" can be quite challenging, primarily
because of its broad scope and the inherent subjectivity involved. Experience is a deeply
personal aspect of human life, and trying to encapsulate it within the confines of an essay can be
daunting.
Firstly, one must navigate through the plethora of potential experiences to choose from.
Everyone has a unique set of experiences, ranging from significant life events to mundane daily
occurrences, and selecting the most suitable ones to discuss requires careful consideration.
Secondly, conveying the essence of these experiences in a coherent and engaging manner is no
small feat. It involves not only narrating the events themselves but also delving into their
underlying emotions, thoughts, and reflections. Balancing descriptive elements with
introspective analysis is crucial to ensure that the essay resonates with the reader.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling narrative structure poses its own set of challenges. The essay
must have a clear beginning, middle, and end, guiding the reader through the experiential journey
while maintaining their interest and emotional investment.
Additionally, articulating the significance of these experiences and their impact on personal
growth or worldview adds another layer of complexity. It requires introspection and self-
awareness to articulate how these experiences have shaped one's identity, beliefs, and
perspectives.
Lastly, ensuring that the essay is original and authentic is essential. While drawing inspiration
from others' experiences is natural, it's imperative to infuse the narrative with one's unique voice
and insights to avoid clichГ©s and superficiality.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Experience Essay Topics" demands introspection, narrative
skill, and authenticity to effectively convey the richness and complexity of personal experiences.

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Depressive Disorders
Abstract
Depressive disorders include a group of depressive behaviors characterized by loss
of interests in activities and often coupled with unhappiness. Criteria for diagnosing
depressive disorders are based on DSM 5 that gives symptoms and periods for
different conditions. The clinical criteria cannot function alone it is accompanied
psychological and physical evaluation to eliminate diseases that mimic depression.
Depressive disorders are caused by a combination of factors including environmental,
genetic, biochemical and psychological factors. The interaction cause depressive
episodes in individuals. The exhibited symptoms vary from individual to individual
they include lack of interest in activities, fatigue, altered sleep patterns, change in
appetite, feelings of worthlessness and also suicidal thoughts. Types of depressive
disorders include Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder, and
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder among others. Treatment includes forms of
therapy like psychotherapy and drugs depending on the severity of depression.
Family and friends are important in recovery of depressed individuals by offering
support needed to follow prescriptions and support during recovery. Depressive
disorders are diverse, but they all affect the wellbeing of individuals in relation to
their work, social relations, and education needs (NIH, 2015).

Analysis Of British Indian Sculptor Anish Kapoor

Analysis: Anish Kapoor
In this discussion I will be describing two works designed by British Indian sculptor
Anish Kapoor. This is followed by discussion of the two significant aspects of his
work context and narrative. Born in Mumbai, India, in 1954, to parents of Punjabi
and Iraqi heritage. Anish Kapoor moved to London early in his career to pursue
studies in design. He first gained notoriety for his work in the 1980s for creating
biomorphic sculptures and installations Revered as being often profound, verging
and inspiring . Much of his work incorporates a modernist feeling. A modernist
feeling of materiality with an interest for the control of structure and the view of
space. His work consists of natural figures, using specific materials (for example,
stone, limestone and marble). His models slowly extended toward more minimalist
designs (later in his career). Kapoor uses rich tones, amazingly high quality surfaces,
and uses perspectives that create optical illusions. This shows deep thinking and
understanding of space.

new ideas and perspectives. These new ideas and perspectives were reflected
through his use of saturated colours and striking designs in bodies of work such as

How Adolf Hilter s Efforts for World Domination Changed...
Throughout the 20th century many people influenced the world for better or worse.
However one man completely changed history for even those alive today. This man
was Adolf Hitler. He was a anti semitic, anti Marxist dictator that dominated Europe
into believing that Jews were the root of all evil. Adolf Hitler is one of the most
influential figures of the 20th century because his reign and military leadership of
Germanylead to World War II, he killed millions of Jews trying to perfect humanity
through the Holocaust and his efforts of world domination influenced history forever.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1989, in Braunau am Inn, located near the
Austrian German border. Hitler dropped out of school at age 16 with the hopes of ...

Jews were not the only people brought to these camps, gays, handicaps, gypsies
Roman Catholics, Russian POWs, and anyone who was a non aryan. These camps
may have been the most brutal form of punishment in the history of mankind.
Although these were one of the worst human rights violations in history, Hitler still
supported them. When I came to power, I did not want the concentration camps to
become old age pensioners homes, but instruments of terror. (Martin) Hitler saw
nothing wrong with sending jews here because he believed they were evil and
thought this was their punishment. To get the people of Germany on his side, Hitler
used propaganda to show how good he was and how bad the jews were. Hitler also
used propaganda to advertise the idea of who wonderful the concentration camps
were for the jewish community and persuaded many of them to come to the camps by

The Iso Conceptual Framework For Financial Reporting
The IASB Conceptual framework for Financial Reporting (the Conceptual Framework
) with its accounting standards becomes important for the reason that the business is
more complex, and there are various definitions of accounting information in different
countries. In this essay, for the first part, it would be discussed whether the
conceptual framework is beneficial or not to the development of International
accounting standards with several examples. For the second part, it would be also
examined that IASB framework with its accounting standards is developed from
country to country, and there are differences which have also been caused by a
variety of economic, cultural as well as linguistic circumstances. The IASC Board
approved the IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) Framework ( in April
1989) which was a successor of the IASC Board, and it accepted its Framework in
April 2001 (Wells, 2011). International standards are developed by IASB which are
named International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS). Although IASB took the
place of IASC with its accounting standards, its IAS (International Accounting
Standards) was enforced by IASB and available into practice until now. The
conceptual framework is helpful when it is used to develop the setting of
International accounting standards. First of all, the definition of conceptual
framework provided by Melville (2014, p. 17)[ Melville, A. (2014). International

Kansas State University Parking Issues
Many students at Kansas State University have a problem with having to hunt for a
parking spot every time they arrive on campus. Buying a permit every year does
not guarantee you a parking spot; it is more of a hunting permit. It does not seem to
be fair that the university keeps taking away parking spots. Some of these spots were
taken away in order to better the university with a new water treatment plant, but as
the number of enrolled students is on the rise, the number of open parking spots
continues to exponentially fall. Another large complaint among KSU students is the
price of parking. We are proposing KansasState builds a new parking garage to take
care of the parking problems.

The problem with using the ATA bussystem to solve the campus parking problem is
the location of the bus stops, the time waiting for the bus, and the cost of the bus if
the stop is off campus. The free stops on campus are only located within campus.
Off campus students will still have to find a way to get to campus to get on the
bus. If a student wants to get on an ATA bus outside of campus they will be charged
a fee. Another problem is students do not want to wait on the buses to get to their

Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless,
Hungry,...
Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the
corner with his small family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read,
HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged
and could obviously use help. His right leg had been amputated, so he definitely
needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the charities? The
groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charityimpact on homeless,
hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families,
philanthropic groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing,
and food. First, philanthropic groups should finance programs for medical assistance.
While most middle and upper class workers can afford health care for themselves and
their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom the thought of being
committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look for
insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent
in two months time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable
to afford insurance, but one in specific is the Charity Care Policy at North
Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It is a local charity organization
that benefits the less fortunate. If a patient is below one hundred percent of the
povertyguidelines, which is he or she is eligible to have his or her medical expenses

The Relationship Between Parent And Family
Parent s: The first step to ensuring your child s safety outside of the home is
establishing a healthy family dynamic based around mutual trust and reliance on each
other, to an extent. When you and your child have a relationship between yourselves
that is healthy, you ensure that your child feels safe in the place that matters most; in
their home. When a childfeels safe in their home, among their family, then they are
more likely to feel the can communicate when there is something happening in their
lives outside the home that is bothering them or can prove harmful. Without this
healthy dynamic, your child may withhold important information from you that could
end up causing a drastic change in your child s wellbeing.
As important as open communication is between parent and child, it is equally as
important to set a solid set of rules for your child to follow. For example, younger
children may not be allowed to cross the street or leave the yard without an adult with
them. Without solid rules for children to follow, then the relationship between child
and parent becomes too lax, and there is no sense of respect of child to parent.
Without a sense of mutual respect between parent and child, the child will then feel
that their parent has no knowledge of what is best for them; even though the rules
their parent may try to enforce rules that are in their best interest to follow.
As far as setting rules and punishments for your child, the ramifications should evolve

Does Ethics Matter
Is truth just a matter of personal opinion? Isn t one person s view of ethics just as
valid as another person s? Are not all views, in essence, the same? And does the
whole issue of truth and ethics really matter? Does it make any difference? Can the
honest seeker of truth decide without accurate data? In our consideration of ethicsthe
moral evaluation of what is right and what is wrong we will need to overcome some
common misconceptions people hold in this arena of ethical determination.
Personal opinion doesn t determine reality. For example, I can choose to believe that
the earth is flat, but the reality of the matter is that the earth is spherical not flat! I
may still choose to believe that it s flat, but I m still wrong! Another
Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing
someone from an illness than focusing only on the body. They believe that there
must also be a focus on the individual s spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A
doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places their focus on the physical
body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness being cured
(Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on
the philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain
medical situations. The death of Makayla Sault raised a conflict between traditional
medical practices, and western medical practices.
Western Philosophy on Medicine
When Makayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia the doctors at the
McMaster Children s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario gave her a seventy five per cent
chance of survival. The doctors in the hospital have the philosophical bias that the
technology of advanced western medical treatments are the most reliable form of
treatment. Makayla began chemotherapy, and went through eleven weeks of this
treatment before stopping it. According to an Oncologist at McMaster, There are no
known cases of survival of this type of leukemia without a full course of treatment
(Walker, C., 2015, Makayla exercised her rights , para.1). Makayla s mother believed
that the chemotherapy was destroying

The Ugly Duckling Analysis
The tale of The Ugly Duckling has been told for many generations. It is the story of
a little swan that is mistakenly hatched in a duck s nest and because of his strange
and different appearance he is teased and ridiculed. Even his mother can t understand
how this ugly duckling could be one of her own. The ugly duckling goes through
many hardships and a long, lonely winter. Then upon seeing his reflection in the pond
he realizes that he has become a beautiful swan and happily swims off, joining a
group of nearby swans.
At first glance, many may perceive this as a cut and dry fairy tale. Sending the

If they are different from your society that you have been raised by, maybe it s time
to change your view on people because no one should be left out of anything for the
wrong reasons. Being different from everyone else is a quality that we should
embrace in ourselves and in others.
There can be comparisons in other writings in stories like these. One comparison
of this story is the book Speak. The main character Melinda Sordino is being
excluded from society because of her actions the previous summer. She cannot find
her place in society and she is forced to venture through it on her own. Just like the
duckling, she goes through many obstacles along the way of acceptation in society.
In the end of both stories the main characters find their place in society and they are
finally accepted for who they truly are. They embraced their inner beauty to get them
accepted by people who are just like them.
In the modes of literature there are four mode lines to follow off of. One of the
mode lines are romance, which is most commonly used beside comedy. In the
beginning of the story there is a mild conflict, and in this case the ugly duckling is
driven away and excluded from society because he looks differently and he acts
different from everyone else. He tries to find his place everywhere around the land
but he can t find anywhere, where he is accepted. The final point on the mode line of

From the very beginning, the authors talk about how lots of research in golf focuses
on improving accuracy in golf putting, which is exactly what this paper is about. The
authors also discuss more in depth the mechanisms behind accuracy in golf putting
and how quiet eye training may be able to affect the cognitive processing behind
visuomotor skills.
The experimental methods are described well. The authors choose to break down
the measures individually and give a clear paragraph with a sub heading to each
measure. The specific training protocol also has its own subheading and is easy to
locate within the paper. Specific quiet eye training instructions are separated from the
text and are numbered clearly for the reader to see.
Furthermore, the study design and methods are very much appropriate for the
purposes of the study. The study s set up and methods allows the authors to address
the aims set in the introduction, and they do so in the discussion and conclusion. In
addition, the procedures are thoroughly detailed and allow for reproduction from
academic readers. The procedures are listed to such a level that gives the study a

Gary Soto Essay
Throughout the autobiographical narrative written by Gary Soto, many different
literary elements are used to recreate the experience of his guilty six year old self.
Different elements such as contrast, repetition, pacing, diction, and imagery. Soto
narrates this story as a young boy at a time when he seems to be young and foolish,
Sotofoolmaking mistakes, but at the same time hoping to learn from them. Soto uses
each of these devices to convey different occurrencesin the narrative.
Contrast is used when Soto compares himself to Eve, a biblical character, when
God punished her for stealing an apple from a sacred garden. Also in the first line of
the story Soto explains he knew enough about hell to stop me from stealing , but later

They are obviously used to show that Soto is nervous and moving around quickly
because there is a lot of action going on at the time. However, in the some of the last
paragraphs there are many more complex sentences, which are used to show that
Soto has returned to his state of boredom and also to express that there is not much
going on inside Soto s head..
As mentioned before diction was used along with other elements to help bring out
the heart of the matter in Soto s story. When Soto says he held the pie like a discus
it makes one think that maybe he was ready to throw it like a Frisbee because at
the time he was so nervous. Also, when Soto first steals the pie, he notices that the
grocer s forehead shone with a window of light. It seems because Soto is so
nervous, he begins to notice every little detail of what is going on in front of him.
Another example occurs when Soto is eating the pie and he declares that his teeth
were bathed with the jam like filling. This makes him look as if he is relishing every
moment of eating the pie.
Finally, imagery is used throughout the story such as the proximity of God howling
beneath the house which seems to convey a dark image of God. Another example
of imagery occurs when Soto burps to perfume the air. It gives one a sense that Soto
is burping not just let out gas but to give him a sense of relief and
Popular Cars Research Paper
Popular Cars Any gearhead knows that not just any car will do for a project. What
kind should be chosen, though? This mainly depends on the person working on the
vehicle. For any newcomer, the range of possible project vehicles can be staggering
to approach, for there are many possibilities for a person to chose. An effective
project usually focuses on a tuner car, muscle car, or sports car. These are the
differences between them all. A tuner car is defined as a vehicle that is easy to
modify and has mostly performance oriented modifications. Many of these vehicles
are sedans, or four door vehicles. They can be anywhere from small to medium in
size and take to forms of traditional sedans, mass produced coupes, and hatchbacks.
This is the broadest of all of the categories of vehicles.
Examples of this type of vehicle are the Honda Civic, Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi
Eclipse, and fox body Ford Mustangs. Normally these cars are less expensive and
more readily available than the others on this ... Show more content on

Because most muscle cars were manufactured 35 or more years ago, the vehicles are
many times found in severe disrepair. This makes restorations the most common
work done to muscle cars. Because of their restored market value, many cars remain
however they left the factory. Sports cars are cars that are designed to go fast, but
also handle better than their muscle car counterparts. A sports car is small, seats one
or two people, has a low center of gravity, and is very light compared to other cars.
Unlike muscle cars, sports cars are still manufactured today. Furthermore, the
movement was started in Europe and most sports cars are made by European
companies. These vehicles were first manufactured in 1910 and have been in constant
production ever

If Only We Could See Beneath The Facade Of Perfection
If only we could see beneath the façade of perfection What if everyone was made
to pay for their wrongdoings at every instance? Well, if that were to be the case, no
one would be free from judgment because everyone makes mistakes. In Eclipsed ,
Brogan brings to light the pretentious acts of so called holier than thou people. She
tells a story about the struggles of women in a society that treated them as evil,
bringing to light the fact that everyone in this world needs to re evaluate their
moral standings. One of the main characters, Cathy comes back from a failed
escape attempt. The rest of the women are not that surprised. It was as if they had
given up knowing that they would be caught. But Cathy has been relentless in
risking it all just to escape. Hence, this represents her desperation to be free from
that prison like Magdalen Laundry. These women were once free, but have had
their humanity stripped from them all in the name of judgement for their sins. But
who gave people the right to place judgment on others in such a dehumanizing way?
Spare the rod and spoil the child , but first one has to take out the log in one s eye
before thinking about the speck in their brother s. Brogan succeeds in showing the
fact that these women were human, and still had human feelings, desires and actions.
But they were being condemned due to their diversion from the societal norm in one
aspect of their lives. Having interpersonal relations was like a taboo in the Magdalen
Laundry.

Living Green Persuasive
A Persuasive Essay on Ecology: Live Green!
The alarm clock screams in your ear, and you begin your day with a deep breath.
You make your way to the bathroom to turn your shower on so that you will have
hot water. While waiting, you go into the main room of the house and turn your
heat on so that after your shower you will be greeted with warm air in defense from
a cold winter. Your finally ready for the day, you have eaten your breakfast, and ran
out the door. The engine rumbles in the car and you drive straight to work. This is a
normal morning for most Americans, and sadly just this one morning plus the many
others, impacts the environment, future generations, wildlife, and our health in a
dramatically negative way. Living green, will preserve our planet for future
generations, sustain nature and wildlife, keep our bodies healthy, but it can also save
you money. Living green encompasses the following conserving energy, eating smart,
saving water, and of course recycling! Having your alarm clock plugged on all night,
leaving the heat on, and heating your water, along with many other activities is
wasting our energy. We only have a limited source of energy, and it will deplete one
day. When it runs out, it will take millions of years to form again. Not only that, but
it causes air and water pollution, acid rain, global warming, oil spills, loss of
wilderness areas, and risk of international conflict over energy supplies. The primary
effect of over using energy is our

He suggested to de conglomerate their insurance company to three single line
business consisting of Life Insurance, Property Casualty and Mortgage insurance.
The financial crisis showed us the iconic and near failure of AIG. Had it not been
for the bailout from the Federal Reserve, AIG would have met the fate of Lehman. It
took AIG half a decade to stabilize their share value which had taken a hit. A
separation at this point will turn AIG and its division into rubble.
Introduction :
AIG, one of the biggest insurance company was always considered to be way too
much important for the economy too big to fail by everyone which is why the
Federal Government had to use their bazooka for the bailout. What led the near
collapse of AIG is the large amount of Credit default swaps that they were dealing
with. The loan that consumer had taken under mortgage backed security had
defaulted. Absence of stringent regulations majorly led AIG to accumulate huge
amount of assets in the form of real estate. In due course of time the real estate was
termed as toxic which was the major reason that led to the start of economic
meltdown . Is AIG really too big to fail or it is a misconception prevalent in places.

Arctic Circle Creative Writing
My senior year of high school took me on an odyssey through Alaska s Arctic
Circle. When the bush pilot set us down on a gravel airstrip in an Eskimo village, a
world of rugged wilderness emerged before me. An Inupiat gentleman with long
gray hair and a thick beard met my family at the airstrip, and, with his four wheeler
and wagon, he served as our taxi. He zoomed us along a trail that wound its way
through tall pines, bouncing through mud puddles and sinkholes as we went. The
trail zagged on for five miles or so, until we arrived at a place where little box houses
appeared on the tundra. The four wheeler slowed, coming to a stop in front of a log
cabin. I sat in the wagon, looking at a mere stack of logs beneath a tin roof. I felt

Hemophilia A Essay
Hemophilia A is a sex linked genetic disease that is a common coagulation disorder
(Molecular Genetics of Hemophilia A). It causes infected individuals to not be able
to coagulate their blood very efficiently or at all when getting a cut or an injury in
which blood is exposed. This disease can be very dangerous and fatal because major
bloodloss can occur if the patient is not treated.
In addition to being a sex linked genetic disease, Hemophilia A is also a recessive
disorder. This means that in order for a female to be affected with the disease, she
must inherit the recessive alleles from a mother that is either infected with the
disease or a carrier of the disease and a father that is infected with the disease, since

by a missing or defective factor IX, another clotting protein (Hemophilia B).
Although it is passed down from parents to children, about 1/3 of the cases are

variation of the disease in which the mutation causes a deficiency in factor XI

Analysis Of D. Cross Academy
In the process of being rewritten :D
Cross Academy was a prestigious boarding school known for its state of the art
education system and gothic architecture. Countless arched windows littered around
every inch of the building, showering the interior with beams of glimmering light. Yet
somehow the structure seemed to retain its somber atmosphere. As if it housed
something unknown. Cross Academy was an elite school for the rich and talented,
with an extensive campus enveloped in a thick grove of wild trees and exuberant
greenery flourishing in the new season. During this time of year chromatic flowers
bloomed across the forest floor. Large petals eagerly emerged from the flowers core
after a long year of arduous waiting, sparkling in the sun and offering the rather
gloomy establishment a facade of warmth, hiding it for what it truly was. For Cross
Academy wasn t so innocent. Deep inside its matured walls held something frightful.
Vampires.
The school day was split into two schedules. In the day, students from the sun
dorms, the Day Class, departed to the main building for their first class. However
during the evening the main building entertained the creatures of the dark. More
commonly known as the Night Class. Only a select few were aware of the existence
of vampires and their presence in Cross Academy while the rest of the pupils spent
their days admiring these marvelous creatures in ignorance. During late afternoons
when day classes had finished up, one would find
Windrixville Incident
A miraculous and striking event has occurred that will change all lives. All those
affected by this devastating event will shortly be named. It is all a matter of time
whether those who have experienced, been through, or took part in this action, live
or die. It is highly advised that all who are still trying to absorb and understand this
information, stay nice and calm, due to further complications not wanting to take
place even after a horrendous event such as this. Shortly after three young
teenagers get done devouring an appetizing meal at a nearby Dairy Queen in the
town of Windrixville, they set off for the road. In doing so, reports say the
teenagers encountered a sight one would tremendously fear. What they are
witnessing, will possibly change their lives forever. Through their dark, cold, mean
gray eyes, they see a roaring fire nearly disintegrating a nearby church. Flooring the
gas pedal of the tuff greaser car, as if it was attacking at the young man s leg, the car
reaches a horrific speed. Nothing is getting in the way of this young man s trying to

Many heard distant whimpers, roars, and cries as the fire grew bigger. Crying,

Reader-oriented Theories and Their Application to Ernest...
Reader oriented Theories and Their Application to Ernest Hemingway s Hills like
white elephants From the very beginning of the literature people tended to criticize
the literary works according to some certain criteria. Some critics claimed that the text
itself is important and some other said the author and his style is the thing that should
be focused on. Form and content were the other significant elements in the history of
the literary criticism. In addition, the social and political influences of the time that
the work was written were also considered as important. However the reader who
reads the work and his thoughts and his interpretations were not as valuable as the
other criteria until late 19th and early 20th century. From... Show more content on

So there is another new term in the criticism, subjective perception, that is to say
how a reader understands and reacts to a work. There are many approaches about
how people perceive the real world, they have different results but the only thing
they agree is that the perceiver is active and not passive in the act of perception.
Here the perceiver, the reader, is the center of the literary criticism. According to
Formalist critics a poem is about itself (its form, its imagery, its literary meaning)
before it is about the poet, the reader, or the world. However, if we reject
formalism and adopt the perspective of the reader, we can say that the poem has no
real existence until it is read, its meaning can only be discussed by its readers.
Every reader can find different things in a work because our ways of reading
differ. Walker Gibson can be claimed as one of the first critics of this New
Criticism. His view of literature is text centered. It assumes the value and
uniqueness of the literary work of art. In his essay, the concept of the reader is
introduced as a way of unlocking further treasures in the text. Shortly, the text is
still important but the reader is there to achieve some certain tasks. Here we see a
new term, mock reader. As its name suggests, it is not a real reader but is a role
that the real reader is invited to play for the duration of the novel. As for Gibson, the
concept of the mock reader is a property of the text and not a

Calvin Klein
An American Designer
By
Neera Bann
Calvin Richard Klein was born and raised in New York City s borough of the
Bronx. He decided he wanted to be a fashion designer at an early age, most
probably as a result of the influence of his grandmother. Leo and Flora Klein were
his parents. They both worked in the grocery business. Flora s mother, Molly Stern
was an accomplished seamstress. She operated a notions shop and tailoring
business where Calvin spent a lot of time as a child. (Marsh) Calvin attended P.S

Klein s design philosophy is rooted in minimalism. This is what he is known for. He
typically uses neutral colors or earth tones and designs separates that work in many
different ensembles, from day to night and season to season. At the same time his
advertising for jeans and fragrances was being criticized, Calvin Klein clothing was
receiving critical acclaim for its clean, modern lines. (Gaines)
Time magazine named Klein one of the twenty five most influential Americans in
1996. Klein won the prestigious Coty Award three times in a row (1973 1975),
becoming the youngest designer to ever have that honor. In 1982, 1983, and 1986 he
also captured the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award. In addition Klein
built a financially strong company with the continued advice and help of partner
Barry Schwartz, who guided the company through tough financial times in the late
1980s. Few designers have rivaled his worldwide empire. (Gaines)
In late 2002, Calvin Klein, Inc. caught the eye of Phillips Van Heusen Corporation
(PVH), a company looking to acquire a major brand. As the largest shirt maker in
the United States, PVH owned the Van Heusen, IZOD, and G.H Bass brands and
had licensing agreements with Geoffrey Beene, Arrow, DKNY, and Kenneth Cole.
Under the leadership of CEO Bruce Klatsky, PVH made a play for Calvin Klein and
eventually won the battle. Under the terms of the deal, Klein
2012 Penny Essay Conclusion
Summary: Each penny had individual measurements taken. The 1984 penny had
more mass than the 2012 penny, which was interesting to discover because the gold
coloring added mass to the penny. In addition, all of the pennies stayed relatively the
same in terms of mass, the hundredths place. The weight difference shows that the
pennies mass changed during the changes. Finally, the gold penny had the largest
density. The silverpenny had the second largest density, and the copperpenny had the
least largest density. The changes of the penny added density and mass each time.
With the information, it appears that the mass increased by .03 after each change.
Conclusion
The purpose of this lab was to transmute a simple penny from copper to silver to
gold using ordinary chemical and physical changes. To transmute a copper penny into
silver and gold, two trials were performed in order to transmute two of the pennies.
The 1985 penny, which remained copper, was unaffected. The 1984 and 2012 pennies
were each turned into silver. Lastly, the 2012 penny was turned silver and then into
gold using an extra change. Since the pennies showed a transmutation, the purpose
was proven to be accurate. Since the 1985 penny stayed the same, measurements were
taken immediately. The 1985 penny had a thickness of 0.28 centimeters. ... Show

the diameter being 1.89 centimeters. Looking at the results, the 2012 penny was the

Hamlet Trapped Within The Past Essay
William Shakespeare s Hamlet: Trapped Within the Past Some people desire to
live in a time period much sooner than what they live in today, believing to fit in
better and give them their ideal life. However each time period has its own flaws,
overlooked by those wanderlusters. For example, while some wish to live in the
1950s because of the economic prosperity as well as their cars, the true reality of the
timeis often ignored when considering such factors as the fierce repression of one s
sexual orientation and extreme racism. The play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare
encapsulates a modern man placed within an inferior time. Through a historical lens,
one can see how the time period, religious views, historical context, and the author s
background... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The politics of the time could easily be defined as rotten yet it also carries a
physical entrapment for Hamlet. When he proclaims The time is out of joint; O
cursed spite. That ever I was born to set it right! (Shakespeare 35), Hamlet is
expressing that Denmark is not only a prison for himself in the religious sense, but
as well as the time he is snared where his fate is tied to, showing he is trapped in
both the physical and moral sense. Hamlet s own mindset toward the situation creates
his own mental purgatory of his own.
Although Hamlet was written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago, it
continues to reign as one of the most imitated and relevant plays of our time.
Interpretations of Shakespeare s classic tale of revenge have popped up in some
surprising places such as children s television and film, television shows, and
novels (MacNaughton). This play is commonly known to all, seen in such quotes as
To be or not to be (Shakespeare 66), along with a familiar Shakespearean image of a
man holding a skull. This play ultimately has an influence even to this day with the
parallel plots and themes of the play
Unfair Treatment Of African Americans In The Film, The

The Help Is a film set in the 1960 s regarding the lives of African American house
slaves in Jackson, Mississippi. The three main characters in the film; Skeeter,
Aibileen, and Minny act against the unfair treatment the receive being housemaids.
A white woman named Skeeter Phelan is a member of the Junior League along
with other wealthy women in her neighborhood. Skeeter works for the local
newspaper and writes articles concerning mainly cleaning tips. As the movie
prolongs, Skeeter becomes less, and less interested in being a part of Junior League,

In my opinion, I feel as if Skeeter made the best choice possible to raise awareness of
this matter. After the book was published, it seemed as if the book was flying off
shelves everywhere, raising even more publicity than expected by Skeeter and the
maids. All my life I have despised all acts of racism and do not stand for any of this,
although many people were raised to treat African Americans this way, I m glad to
see there were people like Skeeter and Celia that were able to see past this.
If I had been involved in this event, I would have done the same thing Skeeter
Phelan did to make a difference. Imagining that I was in the shoes of Skeeter, and
having the power that a white person did over black people did in the 1960 s, I would
have done everything I could till the day I died to make sure all people receive equal
treatment everywhere. Seeing the reactions of others and the change that such a
simple book made would have only been more motivation to me, knowing I have the
power to make such a tremendous change that effects so many
The First Occasion When We See Elizabeth
The film begins with a sort of a preface, with Elizabeth as a young lady cruising with
her dad Representative Swann and her future fiancee Lt Norrington, and in addition
future privateer Mr. Gibbs. Representative Swann isn t only the legislative leader of
Port Regal, he s the legislative head of Elizabeth, an occupation we see him commit
more opportunity to than any genuine administering.
The first occasion when we see Elizabeth, she s singing about privateers. She s
acutely keen on the subject, far over the level of legitimacy, to the extent her dad and
Norrington are concerned. Elizabeth is by all accounts weak and inactive among
these men, however in actuality she sets the plot into movement by locating youthful
Will Turner, lost adrift, and after that taking his emblem once he s brought on
board Norrington s ship. It s practically as if Elizabeth, with her enthusiasm for
privateers, has summoned a young man privateer out of the fog by her own
particular will. The emblem is, obviously, one of the 882 bits of reviled Aztec gold
that serves as the maguffin of Revile and drives its whole plot.
(Elizabeth sees the emblem and finishes up, erroneously, that Will is a privateer.
There is a great deal of backstory in Revile, the most confounded of which is the
narrative of Will s dad, Bootstrap Bill, and how the emblem made it around youthful
Will s neck. This story is complicated to the point that I needed to sit and watch the
motion picture various times before

Essay about Wealth in FitzgeraldВґs The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby shows the dehumanizing nature of wealth by creating a contrast
between the rich and the poor. The point of this contrast is to illustrate the class
struggle that was occurring in the country when Fitzgerald wrote The Great
Gatsby. The comparison between rich and poor is first developed in the beginning
of the book when Tom and Nick are driving to New York. Fitzgerald further
elaborates on the gross differences between rich and poor when Gatsby manages to
avoid a speeding ticket. Fitzgerald also uses popular songs from the time period,

class (68). Later on, while having lunch with Wolfsheim, Gatsby calmly informs
Nick that Wolfsheim fixed the World Series. These opportunities to make large
amounts of money only come if you have large amounts of money. This type of
attitude is reflected in all of the wealthy characters in the book; the attitude of
superiority simply because of the amount of money that you have. Another method
that Fitzgerald uses to draw contrast between the rich and working class is through
references to popular media of the time period. When Gatsby demands that
Klipspringer play the piano for him and Daisy, Klipspringer plays a song Ain t We
Got Fun . The first sets of lyrics that are included in the book are about having fun
all day. This is a reference to the lifestyle of the rich. The second set of lyrics focus
more on the life of the working class man. One thing s sure and nothing s surer/ the
rich get richer and the poor get children (95). Fitzgerald uses this to continue his
comparison. The fun filled lifestyle of the rich compared to the work filled lifestyle

N. meningitidis can cause pneumonia, pericarditis, conjuctivis, endopthalmitis,
septic arthritis, pelvic or chromic low grade septicaemia but there are only two
types of typical diseases caused by N. meningitidis: meningococcal meningitis and
meningococcal septicaemia. And although there are 13 serogroups, only A, B, C,
Y and W 135 cause majority of the disease. These diseases occur rapidly once
infected and individuals infected will become detrimentally ill within 24 48 hours
and can die within a few hours of contraction. The initial signs of the symptoms are
nonspecific and can be mistaken for the flu, but the onset of fever, nausea, shivers
would progress to severe headaches, photophobia, confusion and vomiting.
Meningococcal meningitis: In Europe and the Americas, serogroups B and C

Bacterial meningitis causes brain damage, hearing loss and learning disabilities to

How To Prevent The Raven
All humans die at a certain point in their lives, death is something bound to happen.
Death cannot be stopped , even if you take care of yourself perfectly. People try
really hard to extend the time period of their lives, by securing themselves and
helping themselves be more healthy. People keep guards, they purchase the most
expensive health treatments, they have security systems at their house, the exercise
and get the best nutrition to benefit their body, and many many more actions. By
doing these actions, us humans feel a sense of protection, we feel that we are secure
and cannot be harmed. But somethings are bound to happen and nothing can prevent
them. Although these tactics do help you live a longer and healthier life, they help
prevent such actions from taking place. Even if they can t solve all the safety

happen anyways. Just like in The fall of the house of Usher , Rodricks madness
drove him crazy. He did not realise the danger he could cause himself even with all
the precautions he took. There are two really good examples portrayed in the
Masque of the Red Death . The first one is about the people of the city that is
mentioned in the story. It shows that no matter what kind of people they were or
what kind of precautions they took, they all got devoured by the gruesome disease.
Even if they were invited to Prospero s great party, the were still a victim of the
disease. That is the second example, Prospero got the best safety in the whole town,
but still he was a part of what was bound to

Developments in Iraq After United States Involvement Essay
Ask anyone about the current issues in Iraq and you will hear a multitude of answers,
questions, remarks, backlash, and support for our countries involvement. Sure some
things could have been done better, some things could have been avoided completely,
but when you talk to someone who has personally witnessed 184 women setting
themselves on fire in protest to the way men are treating them you can t help but
admire the change today. With the help of US and various foreign countries, Iraqis
rebuilding itself from the ground up, repairing itself from previous dictatorship.
There are three major concerns in Iraq, political freedom (including freedom of
religion), women s rights, and better education. These issues are far from being

In addition to encouraging women to take active political and social roles these
communication tools also inform women about activities of the OWFI centers and
shelters. The women s shelters protect women from violence and provide a
critically needed safe haven from some of the most heinous forms of gender based
violence known as honour killings. The shelters also provide strength and security
to women on their path to building self esteem and empowerment. Women who
leave the shelters often stay in close communication with OWFI and its centers and

six million primary and secondary school children across Iraq. This generous grant
from the World Bank is one more example of the international community pulling
together to support a new Iraq. The U.S. Agency for International Development feels
that renewing Iraq s educational system is vital because Iraqi youth will determine
their country s future. All universities are open, 5.1 million Iraqi
Divine Providence Research Paper
Divine providence is the act whereby God manifests a particular set of conditions
in order to bring about some outcome in which He is aware of beforehand based on
the current cooperation and relations of the lives He is impacting. In doing so, His
purpose is revealed which He has previously deliberated on to bring creation into
accordance with His divine will. To more fully consider this point, the interwoven
Hebrew terminology in this doctrine, using mainly the Theological Dictionary of the
Old Testament as a guide, will be described in greater detail.
In Hebrew, kwl is a literal term for a container and deals with holding something,

The verb bachar involves a conscientious selection based upon the required need of
some plan. It implies a separation in that individuals of a group are different than
other groups as God delineates the qualifications for this based on His prior, deeply
considered thoughts related to His plans for mankind. In the history of mankind,
chapter seven of the Book of Deuteronomy describes this carefully selected group as
being smaller than all other people of the world in terms of size. This emphasizes
the thorough deliberation by God. As such, this outwardly shows what occurs when
choosing to be in relationship with Him. Namely, that those selected enter into a type
of familiar and enduring relationship with God Who seeks to bestow aid and gifts in

The Six Major Barriers Of Effective Communication
The Six Major Barriers of Effective Communication
Language can be loaded with meaning, beyond its dictionary definition. The
meaning of language is often encapsulated in culture from micro interpersonal to
macro international. Culture defines who we are and it is expressed in the language
we use. When culture is defined as a set of customs, traditions, beliefs, etc., it is
more than just a national identity: it is a Sunday social group, a visible minority or
youth group, a family run company, a corporate entity, a community. Culture
encompasses that which we identify with as a member of society whether it be a
large or small group within society. In today s world of business communication
using a common lingua franca such as English helps to make communication more
fluid but it is often not enough to bridge cross cultural gaps and common
misunderstandings. In our communication we need to be careful in the language we
use and the meaning we either knowingly or unknowingly impart on our listeners.
(Czako,K., 2015)
In our Business Communications text, the author (McLean, S. 2010) cites 6 major
barriers to communications. These major barriers are common in all languages
around the world and are therefore universal in their manifestation. They embody
the culture of a nation as much as they embody the daily life of a local community
group or individual. We identify with and use them on a daily basis. However their
place in a business setting is not always appreciated or
The Dark Side Of The Glass
The glass slipped out her hand, shattering into a thousand tiny crystals. She let out a
piercing scream. Backing away from him, her hands immediately grasped her throat
as it started to burn; letting memory guide her towards the kitchen sink, arms
outstretched to feel for the counters edge, the cold marble tiles desensitised her bare
feet. Her eyes watered and blurred ( her surroundings becoming indistinguishable ).
The pain seared into her skull. Half formed thoughts wrestled with each other to get
her attention pushed back by the all consuming fire in her eyes and the panic that
flooded her body when everything became so hazy.
All of a sudden, her foot caught on the edge of the table; with a hollow plastic

sharpness of the metal and sighed with relief recognising it by the colour of the
bright neon keyring which he got her.
Abruptly, the sound of heavy footsteps descended from the kitchen. She cupped her
mouth not even letting a puff of breath surrender her. She struggled to make out her
bearings. She tugged at her jacket and fell to the ground. The door creaked open. Her

Comparing Boyz N The Hood And The Outsiders
Boyz n the Hood, filmed in 1991, illustrates the problems young African Americans
endure while growing up in the hood . The Outsiders portrays similar struggles
with young white males of a low socioeconomic class. Both films take place in
tough neighborhoods where many young men are killed due to violent crimes, like
drive bys or street fights. Both films also depict a main character who is struggling
with his own identity and place in the community; however, The Outsiders takes on
a much darker tone than Boyz n the Hood likely due to the point the director of
Boyz n the Hood was trying to make on ending black on black violence. In both

In order to survive, the main characters must fit in with the community or risk
alienation. In The Outsiders, the rivalry, between the Greasers and Socs, remains
because generations of innocent boys have grown and fit into their deemed places
in adolescent society and fueled the rivalry under the assumption that nothing ever
changes...Greasers will still be Greasers and Socs will still be Socs, a self
fulfilling prophecy. The only way for boys on the east side to protect themselves
from Socs is to assimilate to the Greaser community and participate in the fights
against the Socs. Boyz n the Hood depicts Tre s struggle to assimilate to hood
culture where women are treated poorly and used for sex. Tre affects a hood
vernacular and regales his father with tales of his sexual adventures, despite being a
virgin, with a woman named Tisha. Despite knowing his father s stance on the
contraception, Tre claims not to have used protection inciting his father s
disappointment and anger on purpose. The film emphasizes the struggle between Tre
s background and his environment by blocking the two characters in a tight frame
with Tre backed up against a refrigerator and Furious invading Tre s intimate space,

Parkinson’s Disease and Medical Treatment Options
Essay
Parkinson s Disease and Medical Treatment Options
For many 50 year olds, tasks such as writing or walking can be easily preformed
without much attention. In fact, the term task seems to stress that there is a greater
level of effort than is truly exerted in order for the average person to perform these
actions. However, for a patient of Parkinson s Disease who is diagnosed on average at
the age of 50, these every day activities take a great deal of time, attention, and effort
to be preformed (Huston). With the growth of research about this disease, a variety of
treatment options ranging from medication to surgery are currently available to
patients who suffer from the debilitating effects of Parkinson s Disease.

Parkinson s patients also suffer from difficulties associated with speech, spontaneous
movements, gait, and cognitive processing. Johnson et. al (2004) studied these
cognitive processing deficits to determine whether they were a result of motor
impairment or a cognitive processing impairment within itself. Through two trials of
testing, once with patients who were medicated for motor impairment and a second
time with unmedicated patients, both compared to non Parkinson participants of
similar age groups, Johnson et. al found that both medicated and unmedicated
Parkinson s patients scored lower in the testing than the non Parkinson s patients.
Therefore, it was determined that the cognitive processing impairment is separate
from the typical motor impairment associated with the disease.
Diagnosis of Parkinson s is based solely on clinical evaluation and observation rather
than blood and laboratory testing. If a patient displays two of the three primary
symptoms, he may be diagnosed with and placed on medication for Parkinson s
Disease. If the medication improves these symptoms, the diagnosis of Parkinson s is
then confirmed (American Parkinson Disease Association, 2004; National Parkinson
Foundation, 1999).
The cause of the degeneration of cells within the substantia nigra is unknown and
therefore no cure exists for the disease. Extensive research is being conducted in an
attempt to determine the cause and find a cure for Parkinson s. A
Perfectionism And Perfectionism
Abstract Eating disorders are very high among young people. Some researches
claimed that perfectionist feelings are positively associated with symptoms of
eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. In this paper, we
have aimed to bring up these relationship by researching current literature.
INTRODUCTIONS Perfectionalism has appeared as an important risk factor in
psychopatology. It is significantly higher among clinical disorders. We can claim that
people who have eating disorder generally have perfectionist personality. Definitions

Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
1
Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has
done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols,
settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of
Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the
essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the
narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective
pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss
Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his
essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s
funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a
flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy
four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner
has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer
Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe
Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major
charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of
negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she
end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the
change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town
that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer
is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a
big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the
story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily
till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s
death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s
house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society
but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses
Essay On Wells Fargo
My paper covers the financial impact Wells Fargo Co. held in a post gold rush
economy as well as the key their survival after the California crash of 1855. These
factors are significant in pre civil by illustrating how the industrialization and
economic fortune of various joint stock companies unified the states prior to the War
of Northern Aggression. How the company s founders sharply dealt with the issues
that closed the door for hundreds of competitors illustrates the drive and American
business spirit still seen today; without Wells FargoCalifornia, in its new statehood

Chinese and Japanese Immigrants and the California
Dream...
In the 1850 s, Chinese immigrants began entering California in search of gold and the
California dream. They had heard that California was the new frontier, a frontier that
would provide them with the opportunity for economic riches. Young and ambitious,
many of these Chinese immigrants quickly married in their homeland and set out for
the gold rush, promising to return (with wealth). Likewise, in the 1880s, when the
state of California was undergoing rapid economic transformation, Japanese
immigrantsjust as young and ambitious as their Chinesecounterparts set out for
America where they had heard the streets were paved with gold. But little did these
Chinese and Japanese immigrants know that what they would discover in California...

Often, these store owners provided rice, noodles, and vegetables not available in
Euro American stores and supplemented the workers diet with vegetables grown by
local Chinese truck gardeners and meat from pigs, ducks, and chickens raised by
Chinese farmers (Chan 1991). While such an association between early store owners
and the Chinese laborers can hardly be called a community, their relationship filled a
vital social and economic niche that was often lacking for most early non white
immigrants.
Japanese immigration into California followed quite a different pattern. Needing
cheap labor in order to maximize their profits, Hawaiian sugar plantation owners
sent agents abroad to recruit workers. Consequently, some 39,000 Japanese went to
work in sugar plantations on three year contracts only to later discover the strains
and hazards of working in what historians of Hawaii have labeled industrial
plantations an efficient, large scale system that enabled the yield per acre to
increase from just under 6,600 pounds in 1895 to almost 8,700 pounds in 1900
(Cole 1973). But in 1900, the Organic Law made Hawaii a formal U.S. territory,
ending the entry of contract laborers while declaring all contracts null and void in
Hawaii. As a result, labor recruiters from the mainland descended on Hawaii to lure
the Japanese workers away with the prospect
Analysis Of The Movie Tank Man And David Seymour Of...
Political photography is a threat, because this genre of photography is seen as a
true piece of reality and provides evidence for historical moments. Moments shown
in Tank Man and Tereska Draws Her Home both portray two individuals who
symbolize people who have suffered from the acts of the government and or the
military. The two photographers, Jeff Widener of Tank Man and David Seymour
of Tereska Draws Her Home, take different approaches documenting moments in
history, from the Tiananmen Square Incident of 1989 in Tank Man to the
Holocaust in Tereska Draws Her Home. Their execution in capturing these
moments greatly affects the object/subject relationship and reveals their position
as both outsiders, in reference to Abigail Solomon Godeau s Inside/Out. In
addition, Widener and Seymour use their cameras as passports, exploring a part of
someone s or a country s moment that happens to be in a vulnerable state (Solomon
Godeau). Widener uses his camera as a passport as an American to document
Chinese history, a history that is not his own. Seymour uses his camera as a
passport to cross over boundaries to capture his subject s disturbed drawing, a
poignant result of the Nazis actions (Solomon Godeau). As a third point, Tereska
Draws Her Home and Tank Man both portray crucial and violent histories that, by
some individuals, are desperately trying to cover up or deny the history happened at
all. Both of these photos share in the act of denials from the Holocaust to the Chinese
The Ethics Of Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering has to do with manipulating organisms and DNA to create body
characteristics. The practice of genetic DNA has shown an increasing amount over
the past years. The process of genetic enhancement involves manipulating organisms
by using biotechnologies. The technique is by removing a DNAfrom one life form
and transferring it to another set of traits or organism. Certain barriers are
conquered, and the procedure involves changing a form of cells, resulting from an
improvement or developed organism. GMO which is a (Genetic Modified
Organisms) is the operation done in a laboratory where DNA genetic from one
particular species or animals is directly forced into another gene from an unrelated

One of the biggest pictures that are against genetic engineering is that humans are not
supposed to play the role of God. DNA is a unique thing to every person.
Bioengineering itself involves the very technical aspects of modification, and the
enhancement of stem cells or DNA and this process can change the human structure.
The progress of civilization has been having been largely dependent upon the out
interference with nature . (Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences).
Biotechnology interventions are used to advance human brains and our future to
the extreme. The process of genetic engineering is very unpredictable and dramatic
that it will have a major effect on its environment. Human genetic manipulation is
considered unethical and dangerous for the most part. Human genetic alteration is
illegal in many countries, but it is used in some places to cure gene diseases. The
process of changing the genetic DNA of when a baby is born can be passed down
the line of the persons. Swapping bad and unwanted genes for a better one is part of
the process. There are many potential advantages gained from this operation as well
as some dangers. Considering the ethical implications of the gene enhancement the
result might cause a gene problem. The advanced technology application can make a
huge different especially improving the quality of a human being by fixing an
unwanted and inheritable gene defects. Many people are affected
Summer Camp Personal Statement
During the summer of 2016, I was a volunteer at the Ridge Meadows Child
Development Centre s Therapeutic Summer Camp. My experience at the camp was a
memorable one, since I met a young boy with ADHD. Though it was difficult to get
his attention, his condition made me more aware and got me to communicate in a
more innovate way. By talking about a common interest of ours, the sport of soccer, I
was not telling him instructions or asking him for his attention, but instead giving
him mine. Besides my volunteering at the summer camp, I have been a part of many
activities, such as the VolunTEEN program and the Ridge Meadows Homeshow, all
throughout high school and the experiences have shaped who I am today.
Currently in my third year, I am volunteering at my local hospital and residential
home, Baillie House, through the VolunTEEN program as Team Leader. Being a
part of the program has opened me to a new perspective on health. I have learned to
socially adapt and build strong bonds, as well as initiate ways to help others.
Furthermore, hearing residents tell their stories or taking patients outside for a casual

Experience Essay Topics.pdf

  • 1. Experience Essay Topics Writing an essay on the topic of "Experience Essay Topics" can be quite challenging, primarily because of its broad scope and the inherent subjectivity involved. Experience is a deeply personal aspect of human life, and trying to encapsulate it within the confines of an essay can be daunting. Firstly, one must navigate through the plethora of potential experiences to choose from. Everyone has a unique set of experiences, ranging from significant life events to mundane daily occurrences, and selecting the most suitable ones to discuss requires careful consideration. Secondly, conveying the essence of these experiences in a coherent and engaging manner is no small feat. It involves not only narrating the events themselves but also delving into their underlying emotions, thoughts, and reflections. Balancing descriptive elements with introspective analysis is crucial to ensure that the essay resonates with the reader. Furthermore, crafting a compelling narrative structure poses its own set of challenges. The essay must have a clear beginning, middle, and end, guiding the reader through the experiential journey while maintaining their interest and emotional investment. Additionally, articulating the significance of these experiences and their impact on personal growth or worldview adds another layer of complexity. It requires introspection and self- awareness to articulate how these experiences have shaped one's identity, beliefs, and perspectives. Lastly, ensuring that the essay is original and authentic is essential. While drawing inspiration from others' experiences is natural, it's imperative to infuse the narrative with one's unique voice and insights to avoid clichГ©s and superficiality. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Experience Essay Topics" demands introspection, narrative skill, and authenticity to effectively convey the richness and complexity of personal experiences. • 3. Analysis Of British Indian Sculptor Anish Kapoor Dhruv Setty Analysis: Anish Kapoor In this discussion I will be describing two works designed by British Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor. This is followed by discussion of the two significant aspects of his work context and narrative. Born in Mumbai, India, in 1954, to parents of Punjabi and Iraqi heritage. Anish Kapoor moved to London early in his career to pursue studies in design. He first gained notoriety for his work in the 1980s for creating biomorphic sculptures and installations Revered as being often profound, verging and inspiring . Much of his work incorporates a modernist feeling. A modernist feeling of materiality with an interest for the control of structure and the view of space. His work consists of natural figures, using specific materials (for example, stone, limestone and marble). His models slowly extended toward more minimalist designs (later in his career). Kapoor uses rich tones, amazingly high quality surfaces, and uses perspectives that create optical illusions. This shows deep thinking and understanding of space. 1000 names (Which refers in Hinduism to all the names of the god Vishnu), 1982 Pigment on gesso and wood A return trip to India in 1979 opened Kapoor s eyes to new ideas and perspectives. These new ideas and perspectives were reflected through his use of saturated colours and striking designs in bodies of work such as 1000 Names. The 1000 Names series consisted of arrangements of abstract
  • 4. How Adolf Hilter s Efforts for World Domination Changed... Throughout the 20th century many people influenced the world for better or worse. However one man completely changed history for even those alive today. This man was Adolf Hitler. He was a anti semitic, anti Marxist dictator that dominated Europe into believing that Jews were the root of all evil. Adolf Hitler is one of the most influential figures of the 20th century because his reign and military leadership of Germanylead to World War II, he killed millions of Jews trying to perfect humanity through the Holocaust and his efforts of world domination influenced history forever. Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1989, in Braunau am Inn, located near the Austrian German border. Hitler dropped out of school at age 16 with the hopes of ... These camps may have been the most brutal form of punishment in the history of mankind. Although these were one of the worst human rights violations in history, Hitler still supported them. When I came to power, I did not want the concentration camps to become old age pensioners homes, but instruments of terror. (Martin) Hitler saw nothing wrong with sending jews here because he believed they were evil and thought this was their punishment. To get the people of Germany on his side, Hitler used propaganda to show how good he was and how bad the jews were. Hitler also used propaganda to advertise the idea of who wonderful the concentration camps were for the jewish community and persuaded many of them to come to the camps by choice. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/holocaust quotations.html Next, Hitler s efforts of world domination influenced history forever. The Holocaust raised huge Human Rights issues and new measures were taken to prevent this from ever happening again. Hitler s beliefs and action are taught worldwide so people so learned the atrocities he committed so that this would never happen again. The United Nations was formed to do what the League of Nations failed to do
  • 5. The Iso Conceptual Framework For Financial Reporting The IASB Conceptual framework for Financial Reporting (the Conceptual Framework ) with its accounting standards becomes important for the reason that the business is more complex, and there are various definitions of accounting information in different countries. In this essay, for the first part, it would be discussed whether the conceptual framework is beneficial or not to the development of International accounting standards with several examples. For the second part, it would be also examined that IASB framework with its accounting standards is developed from country to country, and there are differences which have also been caused by a variety of economic, cultural as well as linguistic circumstances. The IASC Board approved the IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) Framework ( in April 1989) which was a successor of the IASC Board, and it accepted its Framework in April 2001 (Wells, 2011). International standards are developed by IASB which are named International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS). Although IASB took the place of IASC with its accounting standards, its IAS (International Accounting Standards) was enforced by IASB and available into practice until now. The conceptual framework is helpful when it is used to develop the setting of International accounting standards. First of all, the definition of conceptual framework provided by Melville (2014, p. 17)[ Melville, A. (2014). International Financial Reporting.(4th ed.). Edinburgh Gate:

Buying a permit every year does not guarantee you a parking spot; it is more of a hunting permit. It does not seem to be fair that the university keeps taking away parking spots. Some of these spots were taken away in order to better the university with a new water treatment plant, but as the number of enrolled students is on the rise, the number of open parking spots continues to exponentially fall. Another large complaint among KSU students is the price of parking. We are proposing KansasState builds a new parking garage to take care of the parking problems. Figure 1. The problem with using the ATA bussystem to solve the campus parking problem is the location of the bus stops, the time waiting for the bus, and the cost of the bus if the stop is off campus. If a student wants to get on an ATA bus outside of campus they will be charged a fee. Another problem is students do not want to wait on the buses to get to their stop or if the miss a stop they have no way to get to
  • 7. Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless, Hungry,... Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the corner with his small family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read, HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged and could obviously use help. His right leg had been amputated, so he definitely needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the charities? The groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charityimpact on homeless, hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families, philanthropic groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing, and food. First, philanthropic groups should finance programs for medical assistance. While most middle and upper class workers can afford health care for themselves and their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom the thought of being committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look for insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent in two months time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable to afford insurance, but one in specific is the Charity Care Policy at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It is a local charity organization that benefits the less fortunate. If a patient is below one hundred percent of the povertyguidelines, which is he or she is eligible to have his or her medical expenses taken care of for a ten
  • 8. The Relationship Between Parent And Family Parent s: The first step to ensuring your child s safety outside of the home is establishing a healthy family dynamic based around mutual trust and reliance on each other, to an extent. When you and your child have a relationship between yourselves that is healthy, you ensure that your child feels safe in the place that matters most; in their home. When a childfeels safe in their home, among their family, then they are more likely to feel the can communicate when there is something happening in their lives outside the home that is bothering them or can prove harmful. Without this healthy dynamic, your child may withhold important information from you that could end up causing a drastic change in your child s wellbeing. As important as open communication is between parent and child, it is equally as important to set a solid set of rules for your child to follow. For example, younger children may not be allowed to cross the street or leave the yard without an adult with them. Without solid rules for children to follow, then the relationship between child and parent becomes too lax, and there is no sense of respect of child to parent. Without a sense of mutual respect between parent and child, the child will then feel that their parent has no knowledge of what is best for them; even though the rules their parent may try to enforce rules that are in their best interest to follow. As far as setting rules and punishments for your child, the ramifications should evolve as the

And does the whole issue of truth and ethics really matter? Does it make any difference? Can the honest seeker of truth decide without accurate data? In our consideration of ethicsthe moral evaluation of what is right and what is wrong we will need to overcome some common misconceptions people hold in this arena of ethical determination. Personal opinion doesn t determine reality. For example, I can choose to believe that the earth is flat, but the reality of the matter is that the earth is spherical not flat! I may still choose to believe that it s flat, but I m still wrong! Another
  • 10. Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing someone from an illness than focusing only on the body. They believe that there must also be a focus on the individual s spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places their focus on the physical body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness being cured (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on the philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain medical situations. The death of Makayla Sault raised a conflict between traditional medical practices, and western medical practices. Western Philosophy on Medicine When Makayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia the doctors at the McMaster Children s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario gave her a seventy five per cent chance of survival. The doctors in the hospital have the philosophical bias that the technology of advanced western medical treatments are the most reliable form of treatment. Makayla began chemotherapy, and went through eleven weeks of this treatment before stopping it. According to an Oncologist at McMaster, There are no known cases of survival of this type of leukemia without a full course of treatment (Walker, C., 2015, Makayla exercised her rights , para.1). If they are different from your society that you have been raised by, maybe it s time to change your view on people because no one should be left out of anything for the wrong reasons. Being different from everyone else is a quality that we should embrace in ourselves and in others. There can be comparisons in other writings in stories like these. One comparison of this story is the book Speak. The main character Melinda Sordino is being excluded from society because of her actions the previous summer. She cannot find her place in society and she is forced to venture through it on her own. Just like the duckling, she goes through many obstacles along the way of acceptation in society. In the end of both stories the main characters find their place in society and they are finally accepted for who they truly are. They embraced their inner beauty to get them accepted by people who are just like them. In the modes of literature there are four mode lines to follow off of. One of the mode lines are romance, which is most commonly used beside comedy. In the beginning of the story there is a mild conflict, and in this case the ugly duckling is driven away and excluded from society because he looks differently and he acts different from everyone else. He tries to find his place everywhere around the land but he can t find anywhere, where he is accepted. The final point on the mode line of

  • 15. Gary Soto Essay Throughout the autobiographical narrative written by Gary Soto, many different literary elements are used to recreate the experience of his guilty six year old self. Different elements such as contrast, repetition, pacing, diction, and imagery. Soto narrates this story as a young boy at a time when he seems to be young and foolish, Sotofoolmaking mistakes, but at the same time hoping to learn from them. Soto uses each of these devices to convey different occurrencesin the narrative. Contrast is used when Soto compares himself to Eve, a biblical character, when God punished her for stealing an apple from a sacred garden. Also in the first line of the story Soto explains he knew enough about hell to stop me from stealing , but later in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are obviously used to show that Soto is nervous and moving around quickly because there is a lot of action going on at the time. However, in the some of the last paragraphs there are many more complex sentences, which are used to show that Soto has returned to his state of boredom and also to express that there is not much going on inside Soto s head.. As mentioned before diction was used along with other elements to help bring out the heart of the matter in Soto s story. When Soto says he held the pie like a discus it makes one think that maybe he was ready to throw it like a Frisbee because at the time he was so nervous. Also, when Soto first steals the pie, he notices that the grocer s forehead shone with a window of light. It seems because Soto is so nervous, he begins to notice every little detail of what is going on in front of him. Another example occurs when Soto is eating the pie and he declares that his teeth were bathed with the jam like filling. This makes him look as if he is relishing every moment of eating the pie. Finally, imagery is used throughout the story such as the proximity of God howling beneath the house which seems to convey a dark image of God. Another example of imagery occurs when Soto burps to perfume the air. It gives one a sense that Soto is burping not just let out gas but to give him a sense of relief and

This mainly depends on the person working on the vehicle. For any newcomer, the range of possible project vehicles can be staggering to approach, for there are many possibilities for a person to chose. An effective project usually focuses on a tuner car, muscle car, or sports car. These are the differences between them all. A tuner car is defined as a vehicle that is easy to modify and has mostly performance oriented modifications. Many of these vehicles are sedans, or four door vehicles. They can be anywhere from small to medium in size and take to forms of traditional sedans, mass produced coupes, and hatchbacks. This is the broadest of all of the categories of vehicles. One of the main characters, Cathy comes back from a failed escape attempt. The rest of the women are not that surprised. It was as if they had given up knowing that they would be caught. But Cathy has been relentless in risking it all just to escape. Hence, this represents her desperation to be free from that prison like Magdalen Laundry. These women were once free, but have had their humanity stripped from them all in the name of judgement for their sins. But who gave people the right to place judgment on others in such a dehumanizing way? Spare the rod and spoil the child , but first one has to take out the log in one s eye before thinking about the speck in their brother s. Brogan succeeds in showing the fact that these women were human, and still had human feelings, desires and actions. But they were being condemned due to their diversion from the societal norm in one aspect of their lives. Having interpersonal relations was like a taboo in the Magdalen Laundry.

When the bush pilot set us down on a gravel airstrip in an Eskimo village, a world of rugged wilderness emerged before me. An Inupiat gentleman with long gray hair and a thick beard met my family at the airstrip, and, with his four wheeler and wagon, he served as our taxi. He zoomed us along a trail that wound its way through tall pines, bouncing through mud puddles and sinkholes as we went. The trail zagged on for five miles or so, until we arrived at a place where little box houses appeared on the tundra. The four wheeler slowed, coming to a stop in front of a log cabin. Reader oriented Theories and Their Application to Ernest Hemingway s Hills like white elephants From the very beginning of the literature people tended to criticize the literary works according to some certain criteria. Some critics claimed that the text itself is important and some other said the author and his style is the thing that should be focused on. Form and content were the other significant elements in the history of the literary criticism. In addition, the social and political influences of the time that the work was written were also considered as important. However the reader who reads the work and his thoughts and his interpretations were not as valuable as the other criteria until late 19th and early 20th century. From... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So there is another new term in the criticism, subjective perception, that is to say how a reader understands and reacts to a work. There are many approaches about how people perceive the real world, they have different results but the only thing they agree is that the perceiver is active and not passive in the act of perception. Here the perceiver, the reader, is the center of the literary criticism. According to Formalist critics a poem is about itself (its form, its imagery, its literary meaning) before it is about the poet, the reader, or the world. However, if we reject formalism and adopt the perspective of the reader, we can say that the poem has no real existence until it is read, its meaning can only be discussed by its readers. Every reader can find different things in a work because our ways of reading differ. Walker Gibson can be claimed as one of the first critics of this New Criticism. His view of literature is text centered. It assumes the value and uniqueness of the literary work of art. In his essay, the concept of the reader is introduced as a way of unlocking further treasures in the text. Shortly, the text is still important but the reader is there to achieve some certain tasks. Here we see a new term, mock reader. As its name suggests, it is not a real reader but is a role that the real reader is invited to play for the duration of the novel. As for Gibson, the concept of the mock reader is a property of the text and not a

The 1984 penny had more mass than the 2012 penny, which was interesting to discover because the gold coloring added mass to the penny. In addition, all of the pennies stayed relatively the same in terms of mass, the hundredths place. The weight difference shows that the pennies mass changed during the changes. Finally, the gold penny had the largest density. The silverpenny had the second largest density, and the copperpenny had the least largest density. The changes of the penny added density and mass each time. With the information, it appears that the mass increased by .03 after each change. Conclusion The purpose of this lab was to transmute a simple penny from copper to silver to gold using ordinary chemical and physical changes. To transmute a copper penny into silver and gold, two trials were performed in order to transmute two of the pennies. The 1985 penny, which remained copper, was unaffected. The 1984 and 2012 pennies were each turned into silver. Lastly, the 2012 penny was turned silver and then into gold using an extra change. Meningitis Research Paper N. meningitidis can cause pneumonia, pericarditis, conjuctivis, endopthalmitis, septic arthritis, pelvic or chromic low grade septicaemia but there are only two types of typical diseases caused by N. meningitidis: meningococcal meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia. And although there are 13 serogroups, only A, B, C, Y and W 135 cause majority of the disease. These diseases occur rapidly once infected and individuals infected will become detrimentally ill within 24 48 hours and can die within a few hours of contraction. The initial signs of the symptoms are nonspecific and can be mistaken for the flu, but the onset of fever, nausea, shivers would progress to severe headaches, photophobia, confusion and vomiting. Meningococcal meningitis: In Europe and the Americas, serogroups B and C are predominant while in Africa serogroups A and C are dominant; serogroup W 135 is pandemic and serogroup Y as the dominant strain of infection in the United States and Canada. There are 75 80% of patients acquiring this type of infection which is an infection of the brain and spinal cord with a mortality rate of 2 4%. Bacterial meningitis causes brain damage, hearing loss and learning disabilities to those that do survive. Meningococci shed their endotoxin, which damages tissues and activates the cytokine cascade (inflammation). This then allows them access to the subarachnoid space causing the blood brain barrier to seep. 

  • 45. The Six Major Barriers Of Effective Communication The Six Major Barriers of Effective Communication Language can be loaded with meaning, beyond its dictionary definition. The meaning of language is often encapsulated in culture from micro interpersonal to macro international. Culture defines who we are and it is expressed in the language we use. When culture is defined as a set of customs, traditions, beliefs, etc., it is more than just a national identity: it is a Sunday social group, a visible minority or youth group, a family run company, a corporate entity, a community. Culture encompasses that which we identify with as a member of society whether it be a large or small group within society. In today s world of business communication using a common lingua franca such as English helps to make communication more fluid but it is often not enough to bridge cross cultural gaps and common misunderstandings. In our communication we need to be careful in the language we use and the meaning we either knowingly or unknowingly impart on our listeners. (Czako,K., 2015) In our Business Communications text, the author (McLean, S. 2010) cites 6 major barriers to communications. These major barriers are common in all languages around the world and are therefore universal in their manifestation. They embody the culture of a nation as much as they embody the daily life of a local community group or individual. We identify with and use them on a daily basis. However their place in a business setting is not always appreciated or

Through two trials of testing, once with patients who were medicated for motor impairment and a second time with unmedicated patients, both compared to non Parkinson participants of similar age groups, Johnson et. al found that both medicated and unmedicated Parkinson s patients scored lower in the testing than the non Parkinson s patients. • 50. Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner 1 Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols, settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses

While such an association between early store owners and the Chinese laborers can hardly be called a community, their relationship filled a vital social and economic niche that was often lacking for most early non white immigrants. Japanese immigration into California followed quite a different pattern. Needing cheap labor in order to maximize their profits, Hawaiian sugar plantation owners sent agents abroad to recruit workers. Consequently, some 39,000 Japanese went to work in sugar plantations on three year contracts only to later discover the strains and hazards of working in what historians of Hawaii have labeled industrial plantations an efficient, large scale system that enabled the yield per acre to increase from just under 6,600 pounds in 1895 to almost 8,700 pounds in 1900 (Cole 1973). Political photography is a threat, because this genre of photography is seen as a true piece of reality and provides evidence for historical moments. Moments shown in Tank Man and Tereska Draws Her Home both portray two individuals who symbolize people who have suffered from the acts of the government and or the military. The two photographers, Jeff Widener of Tank Man and David Seymour of Tereska Draws Her Home, take different approaches documenting moments in history, from the Tiananmen Square Incident of 1989 in Tank Man to the Holocaust in Tereska Draws Her Home. Their execution in capturing these moments greatly affects the object/subject relationship and reveals their position as both outsiders, in reference to Abigail Solomon Godeau s Inside/Out. In addition, Widener and Seymour use their cameras as passports, exploring a part of someone s or a country s moment that happens to be in a vulnerable state (Solomon Godeau). Widener uses his camera as a passport as an American to document Chinese history, a history that is not his own. Seymour uses his camera as a passport to cross over boundaries to capture his subject s disturbed drawing, a poignant result of the Nazis actions (Solomon Godeau). As a third point, Tereska Draws Her Home and Tank Man both portray crucial and violent histories that, by some individuals, are desperately trying to cover up or deny the history happened at all.
