HIV Treatment Adherence Essay
Treatment adherence is critical for HIV positive individuals, but many find it challenging to
maintain. Sarita D. Boyd (2011) conducted a review of currently recommended treatment guidelines
for patients managing HIV infection, including adherence obstacles and benefits.
According to Boyd, HIV treatment should consist of antiretroviral therapy and routine health
monitoring, but many patients often defer treatment and fail to report for monitoring appointments.
Reasons for this failure to adhere to the treatment plan vary depending on the individual patient, and
the situation may be further complicated by differing medical opinions and lack of resources and
opportunity for the patient.
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the current standard for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of these drugs is a major obstacle to treatment adherence because they are expensive,
averaging $22,000.00 to $32,000.00 annually for consistent treatment (Boyd, 2011). Several
government programs cover initial HIV screening costs but not life time care, so many patients only
take their medicines as their finances allow
(Boyd, 2011). This nonadherence leads to the development of drug resistance which increases
transmission potential and decreases treatment options (Boyd, 2011). Efavirenz is a fixed dose
ART combining tenofovir and emtricitabine (Boyd, 2011). It offers once daily dosing and is
currently the simplest and least expensive protocol available. Due to deferred treatment options,
less pills, once daily dosing, fewer side effects and improved drug potency, HIV patients are
reporting increased treatment adherence and better treatment success (Boyd, 2011). More efforts
must be made to insure treatment adherence throughout the entire life of the patient.
Another hindrance to early diagnosis and program adherence lies in the communication skills and
comfort levels of patient and physician. The article HIV prevention efforts mired in patient denial,
physician discomfort (2011) examines the attitudes of both patients

Analysis of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is a poem I would not recommend anyone
still trying to hang on to his or her youth. T. S. Eliot s poem, about a man named J. Alfred
Prufrock, is a pessimistic poem looking at the seemingly wasted life of an aging man. The poem
is told from the viewpoint of a very sad man named J. Alfred Prufrock. The poem takes place in the
city of St. Louis, which T. S. Eliotdoes not portray in a very good light. T. S Eliot s creation of a
depressing mood, powerful metaphors, and the character of J. Alfred Prufrock all result in a very
disheartening poem, not enjoyable to the middle aged reader, especially male readers. T. S. Eliot
creates an uneasy mood from the very beginning. The first stanza of... Show more content on

T. S. Eliot is showing us just how pathetic J. Alfred Prufrock actually is. It seems that Prufrock s
insecurities stem from his aging appearance. An aging reader may find that they identify will J.
Alfred Prufrock and, understandably, not be too pleased about that fact. In the next stanzas
Eliot continues to develop J. Alfred Prufrock s character. I have measured out my life with
coffee spoons; (l. 51). To imagine a life as a string of coffee cups is a very sad picture. This also
tells us that Prufrock s life has been a boring one. The following stanza utilizes some potent
metaphors to describe Prufrock s thoughts. The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase (l. 56).
The diction T. S. Eliot uses here is very effective. Eliot does not simply state that the women
have a preconceived notion of Prufrock. A formulated phrase is a strong way to say that the
women look at him and automatically stereotype him. And when I am formulated, sprawling on a
pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall, (l. 57 58). Eliot uses another strong metaphor
here. These lines in the poem create the image of Prufrock struggling while pinned to the wall like
bug. In the next lines Prufrock is again questioning himself, Then how should I begin/ To spit out
all the butt ends of my days and ways? (l.

Personal Interest Project Idea
Though the investigations of my PIP, I have learnt an incredible amount of new information. In
the beginning my idea about FGM was generalised, and totally different to my understanding of
FGM now, as it has grown extensively. The purpose of my Personal Interest Project was to
investigate whether my hypothesis was true, if FGM was and still is done today as a means of
control by men over women. I wanted to investigate everything I possibly could for this topic to
receive a greater knowledge and understanding of FGM, and why it continues to be such a strong
cultural practice, and rite of passage for women and girls. Predominantly it was my personal
upbringing that triggered my interest in equality among societies, leading me to this topic.

The Renaissance Essay
The Renaissance which translates roughly as a rebirth and fresh thinking which lasted from the
14th through 17th centuries attempted to reapply the ancient intellectual learning of the Greco
Roman Civilization. The thinkers and artists of this new era differed remarkably from their
medieval counterparts. Broadly speaking, Mediaeval period was a period predominantly
dominated by Christian outlook. Moreover, All of the Civilizations regarded as Heirs of Rome
paid significant tribute to their respective religion. Thus, it can be safely concluded that religion
and politics were interwoven in Medieval period. The Renaissance, however, represented a dramatic
transformation from the Medieval outlook. Secularism humanismand individualism were... Show

However, during the Renaissance individual ideas about humanism differed. Writers and
philosophers of the Renaissance time period expressed their opinions about human nature and
human s roles in the universe through their writings. Humanism (the philosophy that people are
rational beings) became quite popular during the Renaissance. The dignity and worth of the
individual was emphasized. Petrarch(1304 1374) is known as the first great humanist. Humanism
gained ground in the Renaissance in part as a revival of classical learning, and such a revival
included new study of classical humanism from the Greek and Roman world. Classical humanism
placed an emphasis on philosophy and codes of ethics, notably embodied in the writings of Plato
and Aristotle and many of their contemporaries. On the other hand, the humanist thinkers broke
from their medieval counterparts in their outlook. However, Unlike humanist who sought a
reconciliation between Christianity and classical philosophy, Pico Della Mirandola sought out the
reconciliation of every human philosophy and every human religion with Christianity Pico argued
about the capability of humanity to encompass the whole of creation. Moreover, he stated that the
individual human being can express the whole of creation and can express the whole of the divine.
He was highly obsessed with tying up the Christian outlook of the medieval period to the
secularism of the Renaissance. He said that people can

Not For All The Tea
Not for all the tea in China is a popular phrase in the Victorian era. When Britain prevailed tea, the
most of the tea was from China. Thus, if I give all the Chinese tea to you and you do not want it,
this can tell how determined you are. American writer Sarah Rose wrote a book named For All the
Teain China describes a period of time in the mid 1800s how the British Empirestole tea from
China. The main character Robert Fortune was hired by the East India Company to steal the secrets
of tea horticulture and manufacturing. The Scotsman donned a camouflage and headed into the Wu
Si Shan hills in a bold act of corporate espionage.
In the early 19th Century, Britain s dependence on Chinese tea was caused trade deficit. Britain and
China are conflicting the viewpoint of justice trade in the foreign nationals. Thus, before the war
start,England provided China with opium, grown in India. so then East India Company ship opium
to China; China provided England with the tea. The East India Company though if they know how
to plant the tea, they could produce tea in India instead. The problem was that the best tea all came
from China, and the Chinese tea growers were the only ones who truly knew how to make it good.
Thus, to accomplish this task, Scottish botanist Fortune (Robert Fortune) put on Chinese clothing ,
hired a Chinese coolie attendant, went deep into the Chinese interior, to the best green tea and
black tea growing areas of the country, and stole tea plants,

physical game, fans and players devote countless time, energy, and money to the beloved sport.
From pee wee to the NBA, basketball has become one of the world s most popular sports.
Ironically enough, the game of shot clocks and three point lines started with one man, a soccer
ball, and two peach baskets. In 1891, in the town of Springfield, Massachusetts, a Canadian
physical education instructor at the YMCA Training School was faced with a problem. Dr.
Naismith had a Massachusetts winter to face, and he did not have a satisfactory activity to keep his
students engaged while indoors. He wanted an activity that would be strenuous for his young...

The game was initially played with peach baskets with a small hole in the bottom for a rod to
poke the ball out, but they slowed the pace of the game as the ball would need to be removed
after a made shot. The first improvement to the peach basket came a year after basketball s
invention when the wire rim was introduced. It was not until 1906 that the metal rim and
backboard were made standard (Basketball Equipment). Also, basketball was first played with a
soccer ball. When the first ball was designed specifically to be a basketball it was brown, making
it hard for players and spectators to track. It was not until the late 1950s that Tony Hinkle, Butler
coach and president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches from 1954 to 1955,
designed an easily visible orange ball (Basketball Equipment). As for size, the ball was first
invented, in 1894, to be thirty to thirty two inches in circumference, but today it has two general
sizes, 28.5 and 29 inches in circumference, the larger size for men s basketball and the smaller for

times. The first design was introduced in 1905. However, they only used it on match day

that helped them make their name on football league.
On 1952, a new design was launched. This was possible because a new manager took over, Ted
Drake, who wanted to change the pensioner logo as a part of his modernization for the club. The
design was the initials of the club, C.F.C. After a year, they changed it again. The third logo
consists of the coat of arms of the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea. The lion came from the
previous club president of Viscount Chelsea. At the top of the logo, there are three roses that
signifies England while the footballs in between are representing the sport, soccer. On this design,
the lion is holding a staff and it represent Abbot of Westminster. Before 1960 s, wearing of logos

Analyse using sacred scripture and a variety of sources the principle teachings about peace in
Judaism and Christianity and how these teachings impact on the life of each adherent s tradition, as
a means of achieving inner peace.
Living and perpetuating a life of peace are central to the Christian and Jewish religious expressions.
The teachings of peace which underpin both Christianity and Judaism are existent in their sacred
texts; The Bible for Christians, The Torah and Mishnah Torah for Jewish adherents. Albeit peace is
of paramount importance to both traditions, the concept of peace is expressed differently.

In (Matthew 6:6 NIV), Jesus explains the merits of praying to the lord God and the reward of inner
peace, But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who
is in secret: and your father who sees in secret will reward you. It is through this conversation
with God that Christians pursue peace in their lives. Prayer can either be private or communal,
spontaneous prayer is one way that charismatic communities can come closer to God. The act of
prayer allows believers to have a personal conversation with God; it alleviates stress attributed to
the monotony of everyday life. Besides prayer, meditation is another way of attaining inner

Comparing Tomi And Keet In House Of The Red Fish

Keet, the main characters of House of The Red Fish. One of the many differences between Tomi
and Keet is that Tomi is determined to get his father s fishing sampan to the surface, but Keet is

Concepts Of Statistical Studies Essay
Basic Concepts of Statistical Studies
1
Introduction s Decision makers make better decisions when they use all available information in an
effective and meaningful way. The primary role of statistics is to to provide decision makers with
methods for obtaining and analyzing information to help make these decisions. Statistics is used to
answer long range planning questions, such as when and where to locate facilities to handle future
sales.
2
Definition s Statistics is defined as the
science of collecting, organizing, presenting, analyzing and interpreting numerical data for the
purpose of assisting in making a more effective decision.

Alternatively, a numeric code could be used for the class standing variable (e.g. 1 denotes
Freshman, 2 denotes Juniors and so on).
16
Scales of Measurement s Interval
The data have the properties of ordinal data, and the interval between observations is expressed in
terms of a fixed unit of measure. Interval data are always numeric.
17
Scales of Measurement s Interval
Example: Shruti has an MAT score of 605, while Raj has an MAT score of 655. Raj scored 50
points more than Shruti.
18
Scales of Measurement s Ratio
The data have all the properties of interval data and the ratio of two values is meaningful. Variables
such as distance, height, weight, and time use the ratio scale. This scale must contain a zero value
that indicates that nothing exists for the variable at the zero point.
19
Scales of Measurement s Ratio
Example: Raj s college record shows 36 credit hours earned, while Kevin s record shows 72 credit
hours earned. Kevin has twice as many credit hours earned as Raj s.
20
Qualitative and Quantitative Data
Data can be further classified as being qualitative or quantitative. The statistical analysis that is
appropriate depends on whether the data for the variable are qualitative or quantitative. In general,
there are more alternatives for statistical analysis when the data are quantitative.

The Minds Of Humans Are Imperfect
The minds of humans are imperfect. It is for this reason that it is often easy to mistake fantasies
and reality. Fantasies can be described as wishful thinking, as imagining something perfect and
they may or may not have their roots based on reality. Therefore, reality is what we can deduce
from the fives senses and experience. In Don Quixote, by Miguel de Cervantes, many different
kinds of women are encountered throughout the adventures of Don Quixote. There are poor
peasants, rich vassals, prostitutes, and even shepherdess. Women in this novel seem to fall under
either women of fantasy or as a women of reality. There is a stark difference between the two
groups of women, but sometimes they are so sublime that they may even jump between women of
fantasy and those of reality. Dorotea, the rich peasant and wife of the nobleman Don Fernando,
and Luscinda, a very wealthy women and wife to Cardenio, would fall explicitly into the category
of sublime women which can transcend from reality to fantasy and work their way between either
realm. Dulcinea and Aldonza Lorenza fall into categories the very contrasting categories of fantasy
and reality, respectively. Therefore, Luscinda, Dorotea, and Dulcinea serve as the fantastical ideals
that men desire women to be, but truth of the matter is that most women of the time were what
Aldonza Lorenzo was a women of reality.
As far as the most ordinary woman of the three fantastical women of part I, Luscinda is the one that
most fits that

contrasting concept to the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike
across all cultures and that since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are
similarly related. For instance, every language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists
use terms semantic primes and universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both
theories, linguistic relativity and universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong
researches done by universalists, Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined
and abandoned in academic society.
Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find
examples of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. For instance, compare to the people in the US,
Koreans are really sensitive about the age since he or she must use different language to the elder
person.

Golf Industry Competition
Case #3: COMPETITION IN THE GOLF EQUIPMENT INDUSTRY
From its earliest beginnings in the 1450 s, golf was a peculiar game that tested the individual skill
of each person who played. It is a game that takes a player on a journey through a number of
greens. The player must try to get the small, hard golf ball into the green or putting green which
contains a hole in the ground. The player can only hit the ball with a golf club. Golf equipment, such
as golf clubs, golf balls, and the like are the subject of this report.

A Short Note On Chronic And Chronic Illness
Ms. Jones has a both acute and chronic illness which makes her situation more complex. The
acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level
of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care.
Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes.
Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb
level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous
antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and
systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario
does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by
assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical
surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia
could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of
her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However,
medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions.
Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical
acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental

Data Hiding With Codeword Substitution Essay
The paper proposes data hiding with codeword substitution in encrypted H.264/AVC video streams.
Here video is encrypted and data is hided in the video to maintain the security and privacy. In this
way data hiding in encrypted domain without decryption preserves confidentiality of the content.
By analyzing the property of H.264/AVC codec, the codeword of the intra prediction modes, the
code words of motion vector differences and code words of residual coefficients are encrypted with
the stream ciphers. The data hider may embed additional data in the encrypted domain by using
code word substitution technique, without knowing original content. Data extraction can be done
in encrypted domain or in the decrypted domain.
Index Terms Data hiding, encrypted domain, H.264/AVC, codeword substituting.

.264/AVC [1] video coding standard has been developed and standardized collaboratively by both
the ITUT VCEG and ISO/IEC MPEG organization. H.264/AVC is a video compressionformat [2]

of video content which can help to address the security and privacy concerns with cloud computing.
Similarly when medical videos or surveillance videos are encrypted for protecting the privacy of the
people, a database manager can embed the personal information into the corresponding encrypted

We can see that in this world people are conditioned to like drugs and things like that so it s no
wonder they become addicts to the thing. In the real world drugs are seen as bad as robbing a
bank, but in the book taking drugs is as normal as showering, we can see this comparison when
Linda says What I had to suffer and not a gramme of soma to be had. Only a drink of mescal
every now and then, when PopГ© used to bring it. PopГ© is a boy I used to know. But it makes
you feel so bad afterwards, the mescal does, and you re sick with the peyotl; besides it always
made that awful feeling of being ashamed much worse the next day. And I was so ashamed. (pg.
120) We can see that in the book the reservation is a reflection of our world and taking alcohol as
much as linda did is bad and seen poorly, but back in her world is was as common as anything
else which is why she suffers a lot when she loses her access to drugs. Another time we see this
socially acceptable behavior is when Huxley show us Lenina s addiction to soma Lenina felt
herself entitled, after this day of queerness and horror, to a complete and absolute holiday. As
soon as they got back to the rest house, she swallowed six half gramme tablets of soma, lay down

Common Good Questions
Final Exam America: Land of the free and home of the brave. That was the idea that the people
had hundreds of years ago. How they would feel now that we are a country that is enslaved to
profit and not the least bit brave when it comes to speaking truth. Mark Shield, author of the article
Missing: Any Challenge for the Common Good, brings to the attention of how todays tactic of
running things has become more than a little undermining. The presidential campaign of 2016 has
been no more than a bumbling mess for the past few months. Republican front runner and celebrity,
Donald Trump, has led his campaign with racist remarks and the promise of a wall he will not pay
for, to separate borders. While the popular vote of the Democratic Party,... Show more content on

Some of who have brought what success this land has, to be what it is today. Many of who
would be looking at us in disappointment. The sole purpose of a leader is to lead their people to a
better future. Looking at this year s election has given the impression that our only concern for
American is entertainment and personal profit. Shields uses the line, Our culture has devalued
individual sacrifice for the common good, in his article and it is true. The look on the American
appeal for the common good has been distorted and is now a blur that we look past. Another
problem that we are facing is the fact that we are all under the influence. All of the big voices that
we are listening to are trying to impose their opinions and outlooks into being our own. They are
trying to use their opinion to quiet ours. Politics brims with examples of one side s efforts to
impose its ethical values on the other, Another line from Shields article. Throughout America s
history there have been brilliant voices, Martin Luther King Jr., Franklin Roosevelt, Abraham
Lincoln, and many more. Though that is entire difference between them and the voices today. They
were brilliant. That is not to say that the candidates today are not intelligent. The difference
between brilliant and intelligent is that one outshines the other. These men were not in power for
the power, they were in power for the people. This is an idea that is forgotten in today s

Should Plato Have Lumped All Sophists
Plato was not praising Socrates as the only real philosopher, but rather, he was attempting to
elevate the identity of his master, ironically by means of a rhetorical strategy of dissociation.
Plato derides all sophists, and does not distinguish between a neo sophist and a sophist. He makes
a distinction between a sophist and a philosopher; sophists were deceivers who only seek to
influence others by the use of rhetoric and does not offer true knowledge, and the philosopher was
a lover of wisdom who sought truth (PlatoSophist, 233c; Plato Phaedrus, 278d). I argue that Plato
was wrong in making this distinction. Plato should not have lumped all sophists into the neo
sophistic basket. He should have recognised that not all sophists during... Show more content on

Plato never does this directly, as it would destroy his argument for disposing of the sophists. But
when paying close attention to Plato s dialogues, you can see a much lighter tone is being taken
towards some sophistic thinkers, something close to admiration (Plato Protagoras, 337a 337d;
318d 319b). These thinkers include Protagoras and Prodicus, both of which were classed as
sophists . I refrain from labeling them neo sophists, as I do think what they were doing was a
kind of philosophy. Protagoras focused on a variety of topics, including truth, and relativism
(Plato, Protagoras 319a; Plato, Theaetetus, 152a). While Prodicus was concerned with linguistics
and ethical theory (Xenophon, Memorabilia 2. 1.21). A definitive answer is difficult to achieve,
as the evidence of what remains today is largely based off writing from both Plato and Aristotle,
both of whom were bias towards sophists. Nevertheless, they are definitely portrayed with much
greater respect by Plato then the other neo sophists who he derides. Whether or not Plato secretly
considered them real philosophers is difficult to say, but I do not think Plato regarded them as petty

Barium Enema Essay
Everyone should know that a lower GI is a very common and important exam used to diagnose
many colon conditions. A lower GI examination, also know as a barium enema, is an x ray
examination of the large intestine. The large intestine, or large bowel, consists of the entire colon,
including the appendix, rectum, and sigmoid colon. This commonly performed test is essentially
the predecessor to the more familiar colonoscopy. A lowerGI is used worldwide to help diagnose
fatal diseases and many other problems that affect the large intestine.
Some of the reasons that your doctor might order this exam are if you are experiencing diarrhea,
constipation, blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss, anemia, to screen for colon polyps or ...

The barium is then released from the bag and begins to flow slowly into your colon. As the
barium begins to fill your bowel you will feel some pain and pressure, and an urgency to have a
bowel movement. The doctor will watch the barium as it moves through your intestine on a TV
screen, using a special live x ray called fluoroscopy. You will be asked to turn to different
positions, and the table may be tilted slightly to help the barium flow through your colon and to
take x rays from different directions. Sometimes a slightly different version of the test may be
done. It is called a double contrast barium enema. If a double contrast study is being done, the
barium will be drained out, and then air will be injected into your colon. As you can imagine with
the air contrast study, the amount of cramping and pain increases, due to the expansion of the
bowel with air. After all of the films are taken the enema tube is removed, and you are taken to the
restroom to expel the remaining barium and air. One or two films may be taken afterwards, to check
how much barium is remaining in your bowel. The entire test takes anywhere from thirty minutes
to one hour. After the exam you may resume a regular diet, and be sure to drink plenty of liquids to
replace those you have lost and to help flush the remaining barium out of your system.

The Integral Part Of My Writing Process
Writing is the tool I use to process my emotions and convey my feelings to others. Creative and
freestyle forms of writing are what I enjoy. Writing has been a part of my journey for many years.
I write a lot. I write often. Since I share some of my writings publicly on social media, I am
regularly complimented on my writing. Some people go as far as to ask me to write a blog or even a
book. Writing allows me to face fears, conquer trials, and learn more about myself and others.
My fears and apprehensions concerning writing are limited to expository writing and researching
the writings of others. In a journal piece, it is stated that Each writer s work was touched and shaped
by the work of others (Joy, 2013). As touched as I may be by someone else s writings, I do not
want to plagiarize while I am summarizing their work. On a collegiate level, I often worry I may be
researching incorrectly. Making sure that the context is correct and that I am giving a scholarly
author their credit can sometimes be overwhelming to me. Processing the information as the author
intended it to mean is important. When examining the writings of others, summarizing and
retaining the information intended for me is the end goal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Pearls Of The World In John Steinbeck s The Pearl Of...
Many pearl divers look for the most perfect and beautiful pearls, but most fail. Unlike Kino who
is one of the lucky few to find the pearl of the world . The Pearl a novel by John Steinbeck is
about Kino s life in a small village in Baja, Mexico. When he finds the pearl of the world that
changes his family s life. When you are overcome with greed you act, feel, and think differently.
First of all, when you want something you will all most stop at nothing to get it. Kino wanted the
pearlfrom Juana so Kino looked down at her and his teeth were bared. He hissed at her like a
snake (59).Kino, who usually is a kinds character, became overwhelmed with greed to get the
pearl from Juana. Kino s personality completely changed because of his greed. Secondly, greed
can make you lie just to come into possession of what you want. The pearl dealers made kino
think that Perhaps the dealers were right and the pearl has no value (71). The pearl dealers knew
fo the pearl s value but do not want to pay the true price of the pearl. They thought that because
Kino was poor that they would be able to trick him. Therefore, when you come into possession
with something valuable you may feel that other people might want to take it from you. When
Kino got the pearl [He] felt the creeping of fate, the circling of the wolves (50). Kino felt that
people wanted to take the pearl from him like something was there creeping up.
People may act differently when money is or is not involved. For example, if you were to ask
someone to do something for you, they are more likely to say yes if you offer money. This like
when the doctor said Have I nothing better to do than cure insect bites for little Indians ? I am a
doctor, not a veterinary (11). the doctor would not save Coyotito s life because he would not
receive money. But then when Kino had found the pearl, he was eager to help Coyotito once
there was money involved. Next, when people want money, they will do tons of different things
to get what they want. An example from the novel is like when They [took] the pearl. I have lost
it, now it is over, the pearl is gone (61). The thief wanted money so he did something as far as
stealing from some just to get money. In the end, his

Good, Evil and Ethics in J.R.R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings
Professor s Comment: This student was very wise not to summarize Tolkien s Lord of the Rings.
The student s primary intention was to describe the ethical themes that can be found in the book.
The first part of this essay describes Tolkien s view on the nature of good and evil, while the
second part deals with his ethics of individuals. Excellent work!
Introduction
The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, has been called by some one of the greatest books of all
time and has recently earned the claim of greatest book of the 20th century in a poll by Britain s
Channel 4 (O hehir). Yet at the same time scholars have often dismissed The Lord of the Rings as a

It could be argued that there is nothing that does not fall outside the laws of nature. But this is not
the perspective that Tolkien expresses. To him, living in England during the first and second World
Wars, the use of technology as a tool of destruction and conquest was unnaturaland evil. In his
books, he embodies the idea of technology as magic. This magic or technology is ultimately evil,
since its use, for good or malicious intent, always results in the disruption of the cycles of nature.
For example, in Middle Earth (Tolkien s fictional world), the pinnacle of technology is reached in
the creation of magic rings. These rings are designed to further the processes of nature, to bring
great abundance and prosperity to the land. But nature must return to normal, and before the story
ends, the power of these good rings is destroyed along with that of the evil One Ring.
This brings up another important aspect of Tolkien s good and evil: once technology (or magic) is
used to disrupt nature, only similar technology can be used to combat it. This creates an
unfortunate cycle. Those whose have no technology must develop it in order to fight those who
threaten them with it. Once a people have defeated their enemy by means of this technology, they
have already disrupted the cycles of nature in doing so. Tolkien sees this as the reason behind the
persistence of evil.

Ewaste and the Basel Convention
Our world is constantly changing around us, with technology regularly advancing and improving.
Old technology and devices are being exchanged for newer objects. These discarded items contain
hazardous waste (both to human health and the environment) and more waste is created during the
manufacturing process. This creates a vast amount of electronic waste, henceforth referred to as
ewaste. The amount of ewaste is growing exponentially; according to the US Environmental
Protection Agency an estimate of 5 to 10 percent increase worldwide is expected each year (STEP
Initiative). Even more alarming is that only 5% of this amount is being recovered and is properly
disposed (STEP Initiative). Today s globally interconnected economy ensures that there is no county
in the world that does not have a hazardous wasteproblem (Basel Convention, Simplified Text).
Despite this being a global problem, there are very few international laws concerning the regulation
of ewaste, except for the UN Basel Convention and its more recent declarations, instead with
countries being left to come up with their own laws. International Laws also contain broad
definitions of what constitutes ewaste. The Basel Convention on the Control of Trans boundary
Movements of Hazardous Wastes heralded a new era in international cooperation with regard to
dealing in trans boundary trade in hazardous waste, and also guidelines and regulations to ensure
proper disposal by the countries. This paper aims to address

Matthew Miller Analysis
The human body and its relationship with technology in the digital age that we live in, plays as

is essentially a product, just like anything else, that reflect simple manufacturing values. A graduate

tailoring combined with a desire to use particular materials offer a glimpse into his creative mind.

Oldboy (Spike Lee, 2013) adapted from Oldboy (Park Chan wook, S. Korea, 2003)
The original film focuses on Dae Su, a content family man, who, for no apparent reason, is

set on extracting revenge, although the sole evidence in his possession is the fact that he must

Although Oldboy has revenge as its central theme, Park directs a movie with an actual goal of

The Horrifying Steps Of The Final Solution
The Horrifying Steps of the Final Solution Beginning in the year 1933, life became difficult for all
non Aryans living in Europe. That was the year Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany.
His anti Semitic principles served as the basis of the Nazi party and its supporters. Although their
ideas were opposed by many, the Nazis managed to carry out The Final Solution with the goal of
ridding Europe of Jews, gypsies, Soviets, and homosexuals. One prominent figure was Heinrich
Himmler who constructed the Final Solution : a written document that stated the steps needed to be
taken in order to establish a pure Aryan race. This solution consisted of isolating Jews in ghettos,
sending non Aryans to concentration and extermination camps, and forcing them to undergo
starvation, thirst, shootings, and extended suffering. The various steps within this document each
served a different purpose and implemented a new kind of suffering upon the prisoners. New
family roles were established and new outlooks on life and religion were brought about due to the
scares they experienced. The Holocausttransformed the lives of many through the daily hardships in

Essay about Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice
Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen s characters always undergo an event
that morally changes their being. In Sense and Sensibility this moral change is obvious in Elinor
and Marianne. The development of these adolescents into mature, reasonable adults is a gradual
transformation seen in Sense and Sensibility. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcybegin Pride and
Prejudiceas arrogant and biased adults and end the story as liberal minded individuals. In Sense
and Sensibility the family has been forced to move from the plush lap of luxury into a more
modest setting. Mr. Dashwood has just passed away. Since this was a patrilineal society, the eldest

A short time later Willoughby visits at Barton Cottage to tell the Dashwood s that I am unable to
keep my engagement with you ; (Austen, p36). He is being sent off to London on business for
Mrs. Smith, his aunt. He had ;no idea of returning into Devonshire immediately ; (Austen, p36).
This behavior by Willoughby is seen as a most unfortunate event. The Dashwood;s are very
surprised at Willoughby;s quick departure and Marianne is crushed.
When Marianne arrives in London her anticipation in seeing Willoughby again is great. She
almost immediately sends a note to Willoughby. ;Her spirits still continued very high, but there
was a flutter in them which prevented their giving much pleasure to her sister ; (Austen, p74).
Marianne was behaving like a self centered, selfish teenager. Instead of being a gracious guest in
Mrs. Jennings home, she was ;anxiously listening to the sound of every carriage (Austen, p74)
and not giving any attention to the socially acceptable behavior that was expected of her. Colonel
Brandon is a character that stands on the peripheral of the story while Willoughby breaks the heart
of his ward and Marianne. Colonel Brandon had a very high regard for Marianne, but Marianne had
no interest in an old man.

The Louisiana Purchase Essays
The Louisiana Purchase was done in the year 1803. In this purchase the United
States of America paid fifteen million dollars to get all the land west of the Mississippi
River and east of the Rocky Mountains. This transaction was done between Thomas
Jefferson and the great Napoleon. The benefits that the United States of America
experienced from this purchase were numerous. For one, it gave the U.S. complete
control of the Mississippi, which in tern helped many farmers with transporting
goods. Second, it more than doubled the size of the United States. With this huge
amounts of land, the government could set up more farms to feed the young but
growing nation. Despite these benefits, however, many people believe ... Show more content on

When the ambassadors have arrived in Paris, they quickly began to negotiate with
Napoleon and his advisors. Napoleon then offered the American ambassadors a deal of a
lifetime the whole Louisiana lands for only fifteen million dollars. Now why would
France want to sell all this land? For one, there was a civil war in the Island of Haiti.
There the slaves have revolted and won independence from France. Napoleon tried
hopelessly to get the Island of Haiti back under control, but it was to no avail. Without
control of Haiti the lands of Louisiana were useless to France, and thus Napoleon decided
to sell it to the Americans. Moreover, Napoleon was planning to conquer all of Europe,
this meant war with Great Britain. Since Napoleon knew that Britain would easily
gain France s overseas lands, he decided to sell them for fifteen million dollars. Robert
Livingston and James Monroe contacted Jefferson, who only wanted to get New Orleans,
for advice, and the final decision. Jefferson, seeing it as an opportunity, agreed to pay
fifteen million dollars to get all of the Louisiana lands. This land sale, probably the
largest in history, was negotiated early in 1803. (Curti 247).
Napoleon s offer to sell land pleased Jefferson, but it also troubled him, for he
believed that the Constitution did not allow him to buy huge amounts of land. This was

Understanding Equilibrium in the IS/LM Model 1995 version Prof. Humberto Barreto1
Introduction: This brief work is designed to provide additional ammunition for the student in the
ongoing war against IS/LM confusion and ignorance. The author has claimed in his Notes on
Macroeconomic Theory (1995) that, There should be no mystery or uncertainty surrounding the IS
/LM analysis at this point. IS/LM curves are simply a short cut to finding the equilibrium values for
income and interest rate. There are two equations and two unknownsГ‘what simpler strategy than to
put them on one graph could be devised? (p. 52) The author still worries, however, that the student
is memorizing the equilibrium condition, IS=LM generates Ye, without really... Show more content

The student should see that the existing values of i and Y will have a tendency to change. The
interest rate will fall because there is a shortage of bonds and as the price of bonds rises to drive
the bond market to equilibrium, the interest rate will fall. The equilibrium interest rate, of course,
will be found at the intersection of the Ms and Md schedules. Output will increase because a
falling interest rate will trigger higher investment expenditures by firms. The increased I will
increase AD and, therefore, Ye will increase. But then the higher income will shift money demand
up, which will increase the equilibrium interest rate, and the same chain will be triggered leading
to a decrease in the equilibrium level of output. The student undoubtedly knows that, eventually,
after running through a series of converging loops, the system will settle into a mutually
compatible, or general equilibrium, combination of i and Y. If you think the iteration process is a
messy and cumbersome means of calculating the general equilibrium, or final, resting place of i
and Y, you should applaud the use of the IS/LM graph. In one quick graph, we can immediately
and easily see the system s general equilibrium solution. From our initial i0, Y0 combination, the
IS/LM graph allows us to instantly see the final solution and to predict a decrease in interest rates
and increase in output. However, a drawback is that it does not show how or why

May 6, 2015
Sacrificing for Success Success never occurs without a cost. In order to achieve success, one must
face a path of obstacles and make sacrifices along the way. Sacrifice is the act of giving up
something that one values in order to accomplish something greater. Throughout the play Macbeth,
written by Shakespeare, and The Social Network, directed by David Flincher, the characters
encounter circumstances that ignite their ambition. It is this ambition that paves their way to
success, however, not without consequences. Yet, what ultimately decides if one s sacrificeis worth
it in the end? Even though sacrifices are inevitable when it comes to succeeding, it does not always
have good results, and therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth s dearest partner of greatness (1.5.10 11), Lady Macbeth, learns of his recent
revelations and decides to sacrifice her own femininity and kindness, and calls upon the spirits
exclaiming, unsex me here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty!
(1.5.44 46). In other words, Lady Macbeth has sacrificed her own morals, like Macbeth, in order
to aid in the assassination of Duncan and succeed in becoming Queen of Scotland. Equivalently,
Eduardo contributes just as much to make certain of Mark and Facebook s success by
contributing $19,000. He sacrifices his time and money, by traveling around to find business
deals, and funding the network as well as Mark s home in California. However, the result of Lady
Macbeth and Eduardo s sacrifices end alike. Where both characters served of great importance to
their partners at the start, once their partners began to develop a certain independence, both Lady
Macbeth and Eduardo served no need for Mark and Macbeth. This eventually leads to the
deterioration of both characters Lady Macbeth guilt becomes too much to handle and results in her
committing suicide; and Eduardo s contributions backfire on him when his shares are diluted.
Ultimately, the sacrifices made by these two characters were not worth

ABSTRACT
This paper is an attempt to understand the concept of Goods and Service Tax (GST), to be
implemented in India from 1st July 2017. This changing face of Indian taxation system paves the
path of development and advancement towards which developing country like India is trying to
move on.It is the biggest and substantial indirect tax reform since 1947. The main is to replace
existing taxes like value added tax, excise duty, service tax and sales tax. It will be levied on

In India also dual system of GST is proposed including CGST and SGST. It is a domestic trade tax
that will be levied in the form of a value added tax on all goods and services in practice with some
exemptions. A value added tax exempts all inputs including capital goods. Hence, it becomes a
general tax on domestic consumption. It is a convenient and economically efficient way of taxing
consumption. It is a comprehensive tax regime levied on manufacture, sales and consumption of
goods and services. It is expected to bring about 2% incremental GDP growth of the country.
The Value Added Tax (VAT) when introduced was considered to be a major improvement over the
pre existing Central excise duty at the national level and the sales tax system at the State level.
Now the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be a further significant breakthrough the next logical
step towards a comprehensive indirect tax reform in the country. Despite the success with VAT,
there are still certain shortcomings in the structure of
VAT both at the Central and at the State level. The shortcoming in CENVAT of theGovernment of
India lies in non inclusion of several Central taxes in the overallframework of CENVAT, such as
additional customs duty, surcharges, etc., and thuskeeping the benefits of comprehensive input tax
and service tax set off out of reach formanufacturers/dealers. Moreover, no step has yet been taken
to capture the valueaddedchain in the

were expected to work in certain areas for certain task only. In addition, (Frank, 2001) also
indicate that for example that Chinese woman prefer a male manager. Living in Malaysia as a
multiracial country, we agreed that it is true that not only the Chinese but in general that most of
our people prefer a male than the female manager in working environment. In order to overcome
this situation, the advantage of networking is possible. However the culture exists restrain the
women managers from entertaining their business associates in private clubs or on the golf course.
It is more known as the men s field to suit this type of socializing. Because of such exclusion,
women managers have limited opportunity to socialize with influential executives who could help
their career development. According to Eight Malaysian Plan, Chapter four (Malaysian Economic
Planning Unit), under employment, the legislators, senior officials and managers category is
expected to register an average annual growth of 4.7 per cent with its share to total employment
accounting for 7.8 per cent in 2005. This was due to the increasing demand for general managers,
which as well hotel and restaurants subsector, of which general managers in lodging and catering

Description Of Pseudoseizures Versus True Seizures

incontinence, extreme changes in mood, shakes, sudden falls, abnormal changes in taste buds,
clenching teeth, respiratory arrest, uncontrolled muscle spasms, twitching, and brief blackout

In the present time, the usage of 24 hour EEG video monitoring have proved many past
physicians incorrect about their distinction between true and false seizures. EEG/video of
pseudoseizures has revealed that urination, injury, and drug responsiveness may be part of
nonepileptic episodes as well as epileptic episodes. As a result, EEG/video has become the gold
standard for discriminating between epileptic and nonepileptic attack (Bergen, 154 155). Both
clinical observation and EEG/video have reveal that long durations of start stop pattern, direct
actions, and situational triggers are more common in pseudoseizures than in true seizures (Bergen,
154 155). In addition true tonic clonic seizures with combination of postictal oxygen debt,
accumulation of saliva, and reduce level of consciousness are often followed by deep respirations
and snoring or stertorous respiratory patterns, however, pseudoseizures lack these characteristics
(Bergen, 154 155). The eyes remained open in every tonic clonic and hypermotor seizures, but
were closed in almost 90 percent of pseudoseizures (Bergen, 154 155). The result have shown that it
is important to be able to differentiate between pseudoseizure and true seizure, but it is also crucial
that physicians be able to find the underlying cause of the seizure as well.

Similarities Between Watson And Rosalind Franklin
Watson and Crick s paper discussed the discovery of the double helix in DNA. It included the
angles created by the bonds between molecules that created the double helix nature of our DNA. In
order to do such, they used Rosalind Franklin s Photo 51 with hinted at the fact that our DNA was,
in fact, a double helix. As a supplement to this photo, they made calculations based on numbers that
described the x ray crystallography from Franklin. The monoclinic unit cells that Crick saw in the
DNAwere the same as the ones he had found in horse haemoglobin from one of his previous
studies confirming that DNA was made up of two matching strands that fit with one another.

Indian Film Industry
INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY ANALYSIS(growth)
The Indian Film Industry has been one of the oldest segments of the Indian entertainment industry.
The Lumiere Brothers brought motion pictures to India in 1896, and since then there has been no
looking back. Today, India has the world s biggest movie industry that churns out around one
thousand movies each year. The Indian Film Industry is witnessing mark improvements on all
spheres from the technology used in making films to the themes of the movies, exhibition, finance
and marketing and even in its business environment. There is no doubt that the Indian Film
Industry is finally getting corporatized in that sense. 2005 was a watershed year for the industry.

This has however not been the case with the rest of the states in India. Therefore, to avoid market
fragmentation and distortions, a uniform and rational tax structure is required for the growth of the
film industry.
The funding of films either through non banking finance companies, venture funds, corporate funds
or through corporate finance, was a significant shift from the traditional film financing model. IDBI
was the first to start funding film production, that too, to big banners, big names and established
film personalities. The traditional model used amongst others distributors funds, personal finances
of producers, money lenders. Obviously, there were inherent drawbacks attached to these modes of
financing.
Moreover, even banks are not forthcoming in financing film projects. Therefore, venture capital
and private equity investment was clearly seen as a solution based on their appetite for risk and a
conducive legal framework.
Under the applicable law in India, there is no restriction on private equity investment into film
making directly, without routing it, via venture capital regulations as venture capital. However,
there are issues involved with such direct (non venture capital regulations routed) investment, which
they could avoid by operating via applicable venture capital regulations.
Corporatization of the Indian Film Industry has led to increased

These definitions point to the dual aspects of organization, as both function and framework or a
process and structure. It is a human activity and, at the same time, it is a group of people. Its
existence is by deliberating design and not by accidents. It exists because of an objective which it
seeks to attain effectively and efficiently.
Concepts of an Organization An organization is a structural process in which persons interact for
objectives. This view of organization contains several important points:
1.The organization is always made up of people.
2.The people in organizations interact; that is, the people in the organization are related to one
another in some way.
3.The interactions of people are ordered by some structure that can be described.
4.The structured interactions are designed to achieve the personal objectives of the people
interacting. In other words, people join and/or participate in organizations in order to achieve their
own objectives.
5.The interactions which result in the achievement of personal objective of any member.
The Organization Context A complete understanding of organizational behavior requires both an
understanding of human behavior and the understanding of the organization context within which
human behavior is acted out. The organizational context is the specific setting within which
organizational behavior is enacted.

Meshing Vs Code Switching
There are two methods that have been a cause of research and debate about. Those are code
meshing and code switching. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages, therefore, people
seem them from different perspectives. Code meshing refers to blending dialects and languages
with Standard English in the other hand, Code switching refers to shifting between dialects or
languages in different settings. Code switching from my perspective is a better pedagogical
alternative than code meshing. Additionally, I consider code switching as the best tool to refer to
different audiences. Since I am an English learner I disagree with the idea to incorporate another
English based languagebesides Standard English. Consequently, to adding a new English form it
will increase dramatically the difficulties an English learner face to understand and to fully speak

  • 2. HIV Treatment Adherence Essay Treatment adherence is critical for HIV positive individuals, but many find it challenging to maintain. Sarita D. Boyd (2011) conducted a review of currently recommended treatment guidelines for patients managing HIV infection, including adherence obstacles and benefits. According to Boyd, HIV treatment should consist of antiretroviral therapy and routine health monitoring, but many patients often defer treatment and fail to report for monitoring appointments. Reasons for this failure to adhere to the treatment plan vary depending on the individual patient, and the situation may be further complicated by differing medical opinions and lack of resources and opportunity for the patient. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the current standard for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of these drugs is a major obstacle to treatment adherence because they are expensive, averaging $22,000.00 to $32,000.00 annually for consistent treatment (Boyd, 2011). Several government programs cover initial HIV screening costs but not life time care, so many patients only take their medicines as their finances allow (Boyd, 2011). This nonadherence leads to the development of drug resistance which increases transmission potential and decreases treatment options (Boyd, 2011). Efavirenz is a fixed dose ART combining tenofovir and emtricitabine (Boyd, 2011). It offers once daily dosing and is currently the simplest and least expensive protocol available. Due to deferred treatment options, less pills, once daily dosing, fewer side effects and improved drug potency, HIV patients are reporting increased treatment adherence and better treatment success (Boyd, 2011). More efforts must be made to insure treatment adherence throughout the entire life of the patient. Another hindrance to early diagnosis and program adherence lies in the communication skills and comfort levels of patient and physician. The article HIV prevention efforts mired in patient denial, physician discomfort (2011) examines the attitudes of both patients ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is a poem I would not recommend anyone still trying to hang on to his or her youth. T. S. Eliot s poem, about a man named J. Alfred Prufrock, is a pessimistic poem looking at the seemingly wasted life of an aging man. The poem is told from the viewpoint of a very sad man named J. Alfred Prufrock. The poem takes place in the city of St. Louis, which T. S. Eliotdoes not portray in a very good light. T. S Eliot s creation of a depressing mood, powerful metaphors, and the character of J. Alfred Prufrock all result in a very disheartening poem, not enjoyable to the middle aged reader, especially male readers. T. S. Eliot creates an uneasy mood from the very beginning. The first stanza of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... T. S. Eliot is showing us just how pathetic J. Alfred Prufrock actually is. It seems that Prufrock s insecurities stem from his aging appearance. An aging reader may find that they identify will J. Alfred Prufrock and, understandably, not be too pleased about that fact. In the next stanzas Eliot continues to develop J. Alfred Prufrock s character. I have measured out my life with coffee spoons; (l. 51). To imagine a life as a string of coffee cups is a very sad picture. This also tells us that Prufrock s life has been a boring one. The following stanza utilizes some potent metaphors to describe Prufrock s thoughts. The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase (l. 56). The diction T. S. Eliot uses here is very effective. Eliot does not simply state that the women have a preconceived notion of Prufrock. A formulated phrase is a strong way to say that the women look at him and automatically stereotype him. And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall, (l. 57 58). Eliot uses another strong metaphor here. These lines in the poem create the image of Prufrock struggling while pinned to the wall like bug. In the next lines Prufrock is again questioning himself, Then how should I begin/ To spit out all the butt ends of my days and ways? (l. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning my idea about FGM was generalised, and totally different to my understanding of FGM now, as it has grown extensively. The purpose of my Personal Interest Project was to investigate whether my hypothesis was true, if FGM was and still is done today as a means of control by men over women. I wanted to investigate everything I possibly could for this topic to receive a greater knowledge and understanding of FGM, and why it continues to be such a strong cultural practice, and rite of passage for women and girls. Predominantly it was my personal upbringing that triggered my interest in equality among societies, leading me to this topic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Renaissance Essay The Renaissance which translates roughly as a rebirth and fresh thinking which lasted from the 14th through 17th centuries attempted to reapply the ancient intellectual learning of the Greco Roman Civilization. The thinkers and artists of this new era differed remarkably from their medieval counterparts. Broadly speaking, Mediaeval period was a period predominantly dominated by Christian outlook. Moreover, All of the Civilizations regarded as Heirs of Rome paid significant tribute to their respective religion. Thus, it can be safely concluded that religion and politics were interwoven in Medieval period. The Renaissance, however, represented a dramatic transformation from the Medieval outlook. Writers and philosophers of the Renaissance time period expressed their opinions about human nature and human s roles in the universe through their writings. Humanism (the philosophy that people are rational beings) became quite popular during the Renaissance. The dignity and worth of the individual was emphasized. Petrarch(1304 1374) is known as the first great humanist. Humanism gained ground in the Renaissance in part as a revival of classical learning, and such a revival included new study of classical humanism from the Greek and Roman world. Classical humanism placed an emphasis on philosophy and codes of ethics, notably embodied in the writings of Plato and Aristotle and many of their contemporaries. On the other hand, the humanist thinkers broke from their medieval counterparts in their outlook. However, Unlike humanist who sought a reconciliation between Christianity and classical philosophy, Pico Della Mirandola sought out the reconciliation of every human philosophy and every human religion with Christianity Pico argued about the capability of humanity to encompass the whole of creation. Moreover, he stated that the individual human being can express the whole of creation and can express the whole of the divine. He was highly obsessed with tying up the Christian outlook of the medieval period to the secularism of the Renaissance. He said that people can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first improvement to the peach basket came a year after basketball s invention when the wire rim was introduced. It was not until 1906 that the metal rim and backboard were made standard (Basketball Equipment). Also, basketball was first played with a soccer ball. When the first ball was designed specifically to be a basketball it was brown, making it hard for players and spectators to track. It was not until the late 1950s that Tony Hinkle, Butler coach and president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches from 1954 to 1955, designed an easily visible orange ball (Basketball Equipment). Windfall has existed for almost four decades, they moved to the current facility around 2006, which made them not in the BEAD district any more, and I remembered that one of my questions was did it affect the Windfall a lot by moving out from the BEAD. It is through this conversation with God that Christians pursue peace in their lives. Prayer can either be private or communal, spontaneous prayer is one way that charismatic communities can come closer to God. The act of prayer allows believers to have a personal conversation with God; it alleviates stress attributed to the monotony of everyday life. The overall message of the song is about drug use and anti war. In the late 1960 s, drug use became popular with young, white Americans, and they began using drugs for fun. The negative image of drugs lessened as drugs became more popular, and drug use became a symbol of protest in a time of political unrest. Although the start of the 1980 s still had people struggling for money, by 1983, the economy recovered, and U.S. kept a period of economical growth. A line that people may use as evidence is the boy with the cold hard cash is always Mister Right which could be viewed as the singer not caring about love and only values money. Interval data are always numeric. 17 Scales of Measurement s Interval Example: Shruti has an MAT score of 605, while Raj has an MAT score of 655. Raj scored 50 points more than Shruti. 18 Scales of Measurement s Ratio The data have all the properties of interval data and the ratio of two values is meaningful. • 22. The Minds Of Humans Are Imperfect The minds of humans are imperfect. It is for this reason that it is often easy to mistake fantasies and reality. Fantasies can be described as wishful thinking, as imagining something perfect and they may or may not have their roots based on reality. Therefore, reality is what we can deduce from the fives senses and experience. In Don Quixote, by Miguel de Cervantes, many different kinds of women are encountered throughout the adventures of Don Quixote. There are poor peasants, rich vassals, prostitutes, and even shepherdess. Women in this novel seem to fall under either women of fantasy or as a women of reality. There is a stark difference between the two groups of women, but sometimes they are so sublime that they may even jump between women of fantasy and those of reality. Dorotea, the rich peasant and wife of the nobleman Don Fernando, and Luscinda, a very wealthy women and wife to Cardenio, would fall explicitly into the category of sublime women which can transcend from reality to fantasy and work their way between either realm. Dulcinea and Aldonza Lorenza fall into categories the very contrasting categories of fantasy and reality, respectively. Therefore, Luscinda, Dorotea, and Dulcinea serve as the fantastical ideals that men desire women to be, but truth of the matter is that most women of the time were what Aldonza Lorenzo was a women of reality. As far as the most ordinary woman of the three fantastical women of part I, Luscinda is the one that most fits that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our textbook, Cognitive Exploration of Language and Linguistics by Rene Dirven, provides two theories: linguistic relativity and universalism. Researchers who believe linguistic relativity claim that language affects the ways in which its respective speakers conceptualize their world. Benjamin Lee Whorf, representative researcher for linguistic relativity, argues that languagedetermines thought, and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories. Universalism, which is a contrasting concept to the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike across all cultures and that since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are similarly related. For instance, every language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists use terms semantic primes and universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both theories, linguistic relativity and universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong researches done by universalists, Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined and abandoned in academic society. Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find examples of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. The acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care. Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes. Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However, medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions. Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental ... The presidential campaign of 2016 has been no more than a bumbling mess for the past few months. Shields uses the line, Our culture has devalued individual sacrifice for the common good, in his article and it is true. The look on the American appeal for the common good has been distorted and is now a blur that we look past. Another problem that we are facing is the fact that we are all under the influence. All of the big voices that we are listening to are trying to impose their opinions and outlooks into being our own. They are trying to use their opinion to quiet ours. Should Plato Have Lumped All Sophists Plato was not praising Socrates as the only real philosopher, but rather, he was attempting to elevate the identity of his master, ironically by means of a rhetorical strategy of dissociation. Plato derides all sophists, and does not distinguish between a neo sophist and a sophist. He makes a distinction between a sophist and a philosopher; sophists were deceivers who only seek to influence others by the use of rhetoric and does not offer true knowledge, and the philosopher was a lover of wisdom who sought truth (PlatoSophist, 233c; Plato Phaedrus, 278d). I argue that Plato was wrong in making this distinction. Plato should not have lumped all sophists into the neo sophistic basket. He should have recognised that not all sophists during... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato never does this directly, as it would destroy his argument for disposing of the sophists. But when paying close attention to Plato s dialogues, you can see a much lighter tone is being taken towards some sophistic thinkers, something close to admiration (Plato Protagoras, 337a 337d; 318d 319b). These thinkers include Protagoras and Prodicus, both of which were classed as sophists . I refrain from labeling them neo sophists, as I do think what they were doing was a kind of philosophy. Protagoras focused on a variety of topics, including truth, and relativism (Plato, Protagoras 319a; Plato, Theaetetus, 152a). While Prodicus was concerned with linguistics and ethical theory (Xenophon, Memorabilia 2. 1.21). A definitive answer is difficult to achieve, as the evidence of what remains today is largely based off writing from both Plato and Aristotle, both of whom were bias towards sophists. Nevertheless, they are definitely portrayed with much greater respect by Plato then the other neo sophists who he derides. A lower GI examination, also know as a barium enema, is an x ray examination of the large intestine. This commonly performed test is essentially the predecessor to the more familiar colonoscopy. As the barium begins to fill your bowel you will feel some pain and pressure, and an urgency to have a bowel movement. The doctor will watch the barium as it moves through your intestine on a TV screen, using a special live x ray called fluoroscopy. You will be asked to turn to different positions, and the table may be tilted slightly to help the barium flow through your colon and to take x rays from different directions. Sometimes a slightly different version of the test may be done. It is called a double contrast barium enema. If a double contrast study is being done, the barium will be drained out, and then air will be injected into your colon. As you can imagine with the air contrast study, the amount of cramping and pain increases, due to the expansion of the bowel with air. After all of the films are taken the enema tube is removed, and you are taken to the restroom to expel the remaining barium and air. One or two films may be taken afterwards, to check how much barium is remaining in your bowel. The entire test takes anywhere from thirty minutes to one hour. After the exam you may resume a regular diet, and be sure to drink plenty of liquids to replace those you have lost and to help flush the remaining barium out of your system. During the ... It could be argued that there is nothing that does not fall outside the laws of nature. But this is not the perspective that Tolkien expresses. To him, living in England during the first and second World Wars, the use of technology as a tool of destruction and conquest was unnaturaland evil. In his books, he embodies the idea of technology as magic. This magic or technology is ultimately evil, since its use, for good or malicious intent, always results in the disruption of the cycles of nature. For example, in Middle Earth (Tolkien s fictional world), the pinnacle of technology is reached in the creation of magic rings. These rings are designed to further the processes of nature, to bring great abundance and prosperity to the land. But nature must return to normal, and before the story ends, the power of these good rings is destroyed along with that of the evil One Ring. This brings up another important aspect of Tolkien s good and evil: once technology (or magic) is used to disrupt nature, only similar technology can be used to combat it. This creates an unfortunate cycle. Those whose have no technology must develop it in order to fight those who threaten them with it. Once a people have defeated their enemy by means of this technology, they have already disrupted the cycles of nature in doing so. Tolkien sees this as the reason behind the persistence of evil. ... • 36. Ewaste and the Basel Convention Our world is constantly changing around us, with technology regularly advancing and improving. Old technology and devices are being exchanged for newer objects. These discarded items contain hazardous waste (both to human health and the environment) and more waste is created during the manufacturing process. This creates a vast amount of electronic waste, henceforth referred to as ewaste. The amount of ewaste is growing exponentially; according to the US Environmental Protection Agency an estimate of 5 to 10 percent increase worldwide is expected each year (STEP Initiative). Even more alarming is that only 5% of this amount is being recovered and is properly disposed (STEP Initiative). Today s globally interconnected economy ensures that there is no county in the world that does not have a hazardous wasteproblem (Basel Convention, Simplified Text). That was the year Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. His anti Semitic principles served as the basis of the Nazi party and its supporters. Although their ideas were opposed by many, the Nazis managed to carry out The Final Solution with the goal of ridding Europe of Jews, gypsies, Soviets, and homosexuals. One prominent figure was Heinrich Himmler who constructed the Final Solution : a written document that stated the steps needed to be taken in order to establish a pure Aryan race. This solution consisted of isolating Jews in ghettos, sending non Aryans to concentration and extermination camps, and forcing them to undergo starvation, thirst, shootings, and extended suffering. The various steps within this document each served a different purpose and implemented a new kind of suffering upon the prisoners. IS/LM curves are simply a short cut to finding the equilibrium values for income and interest rate. The student should see that the existing values of i and Y will have a tendency to change. The interest rate will fall because there is a shortage of bonds and as the price of bonds rises to drive the bond market to equilibrium, the interest rate will fall. The equilibrium interest rate, of course, will be found at the intersection of the Ms and Md schedules. Output will increase because a falling interest rate will trigger higher investment expenditures by firms. The increased I will increase AD and, therefore, Ye will increase. But then the higher income will shift money demand up, which will increase the equilibrium interest rate, and the same chain will be triggered leading to a decrease in the equilibrium level of output. The student undoubtedly knows that, eventually, after running through a series of converging loops, the system will settle into a mutually compatible, or general equilibrium, combination of i and Y. If you think the iteration process is a messy and cumbersome means of calculating the general equilibrium, or final, resting place of i and Y, you should applaud the use of the IS/LM graph. In one quick graph, we can immediately and easily see the system s general equilibrium solution. From our initial i0, Y0 combination, the IS/LM graph allows us to instantly see the final solution and to predict a decrease in interest rates and increase in output.
