The U.S. Central Banking
The designers of the Federal Reserve Act deliberately dismiss the idea of a solitary national bank.
Rather, they accommodated a focal keeping money framework with three striking elements:
1. a focal representing Board,
2. a decentralized working system of 12 Reserve Banks
3. a blend of open and private qualities.
Despite the fact that parts of the Federal Reserve System impart a few attributes to private area
substances, the Federal Reserve was built to serve public interest. Three essential elements make up
the Federal Reserve System:
1. the Board of Governors,
2. the Federal Reserve Banks
3. the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).
The Board of Governors, is an organization of the government that reports to and is specifically
responsible to report Congress (see figure 1.2), gives general direction to the System and administers
the 12 Reserve Banks.
Within the said System, certain duties are shared across the Board of Governors and the Federal

Essay on Chicano Art
Chicano Art
Chicano Art and Indigenismo
Artworks have played an indelible work to the lives of humanity. The creative nature in Artists is a
complex matter to define. The uncertainties in the intrinsic nature in art lay difficult aspects that can
only be answered by values, themes and skills depicted in an artist artwork. Apart from playing the
intricate psychological effect on humans, the artworks have been used as a tool of expression that has
been revered and uniquely preserved for future generation. Among some of the most revered modern
forms of artwork has included Chicano Art that had a core relationship to Las Carpas, Indigenismo,
rascuachismo and other forms of performance art.

The artwork fuses on the interest to the abstraction of the Tarascan symbology by painting a pre
Columbian totem that emerged from the background of flat planes. The painting which is oil on

to link to his distant past by borrowing designs and ideas from the ancient cultures that existed in
Mexico.

Three Goals of Chicano Art
The Chicano art movement rose during the civil rights era was based on three goals that included
restoral of land, education reforms rights for farm workers. The three goals followed by the Chicano
Art artists had long been coming. One of the first goals included rights for farm workers. Arguably, the

How Did Religion Affect European Society
The birth of modern science created conflict between religion and science in European societies. With
the conflicts, the people had started to question the church. These conflicted changes between religion
and science, had positively impacted the common people and had greatly damaged the stability of the
church itself. The idea that everything was to be perfect affected the communities of the people. The
ideas that the church had displayed in decades past, rejected any further discoveries or advancements
that they didn t see fit.
The geocentric model created by Ptolemy, and the heliocentric model created by Copernicus, had
greatly differed in which force of being (the sun or the earth,) was the center of the universe. Ptolemy

Aristotle was a Greek astronomer who theorized that the moon and the stars were made of pure and
perfect substance, and that they were perfect spheres. Galileo had differed in his discovery of the
moon and the stars, they were in fact, not perfect. According to the artist of the cartoon, Galileo had
discovered that the moon was rough and had craters. The Catholic church had not liked his discovery,
compared to Aristotle s claim, because he proved that not everything was not ideal to their opinions or
beliefs. The Catholic church perhaps believed in Aristotle s discovery more so, because it showed that
everything was in unison with each other. Galileo and Copernicus were one in the same, as their
opinions and theories went against the Catholic church s knowledge of the world and everything
around it. Once again, science was rejected over religion. (document three.)
The Catholic church rejected any further scientific knowledge, if not based on ideal reasoning.
Everything had to be perfect, and this affected the communities beliefs of what was right, and what
was not. These conflicted changes between religion and science, had positively impacted the common

The Crisis Of The European Union
Inflation, crisis, recession, fear, unemployment rise, debt, and depression are some of the commonly
used phrases in relation to failing economies. There are many different factors that contribute to the
downfall of an economy, whether it be the political structure, the aftermath of a war, or the role of
government itself. A failing economy s severity can vary based on the specific country s situation. In
comparison to the world, there have been a few countries under the European Union that have
continually worsened economically through the years: Greece and Spain.

3). There have been a number of factors contributing to Greece s fiscal crisis both endogenous and
exogenous. When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running
consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a
decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394).
Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have
allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing
of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to
support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were
unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty
(Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground
economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal
activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are
conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62). Greece
has been accountable for about 27 30% of the GNP for the underground economies in comparison to
various European countries (67). With all these financial issues going on in Greece, there is a

The Theory Of Public Relations
Introduction
Scholars all around the world are debating about the question, what public relations is. The term itself
provides a really broad definition. It suggests that public relations is about relationships between the
public and someone else. The question that follows is what kind of relationship and with whom. Since
it is about relationship and relationships are influenced and defined by many different factors, such as
culture, politics, religion and economics, it is not surprising that there have been a wide range of
public relations definitions, theories and practices.
The Institute of Public Relations (IPR), an association for public relations practitioners established in
1948, tried to define the term public relations in 1987 tried as the planned and sustained effort to
establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between an organisation and its public (The

Today the PRSA writes:
At its core, public relations is about influencing, engaging and building a relationship with key
stakeholders across a myriad of platforms in order to shape and frame the public perception of an
organization. (Public Relations Society of America, 2017).
The PRSA has similar to the IPR ignored the mutuality aspect from Harlow. The IPR and PRSA
definition from 1987 and today are similar in the managing aspect, in the sense of the planned and
sustained effort .
The different definitions provided so far show the complexity and difficulty of the term. Everyone
seems to believe that public relations is something similar and still different.
The changing emphasizes shown above and throughout history illustrate that public relations is an
evolving profession and term, which is being influenced by different factors around the

Good Country People Characters
Flannery O Connor s Good Country People is a seemingly two dimensional story based around Hulga
Hopewell, a pessimistic atheist, who lives in an old fashioned country home alongside her mother,
Mrs. Hopewell, some others include the farmhand, Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Freeman s two daughters,
Carramae and Glynese. Throughout the story, Mrs. Hopewell, along with the other characters, assert
their views to hulga that good country people are the foundation of living a good life. The story
compares and contrasts these distinctive character views in order to create a more realistic and three
dimensional outlook from the context. After reading over the story a few times, I noticed a lot of
consistency with the underlying meanings that the author ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of looking down on her for getting involved with every one s business, Mrs. Hopewell looks at
this as a positive quality by letting her be responsible for everything around the house. When it comes
to her treatment toward Hulga however, Mrs. Hopewell seems to lack a certain sense of sympathy; for
example, when she would ask Hulga for help in the fields, she would tell her If you can t come
pleasantly, I don t want you at all . This suggests an obvious intolerance for her negative behavior. The
relationship between Hulga and her mother seems to be that of a disobedient child and her intolerant
mother. Regardless of Hulga s accomplishments, Mrs. Hopewell still seems incapable of getting past
her negative attitude. For example, she believes college did nothing to break her out of her shell even
though Hulga went through years of school to get her Ph. D in Philosophy. Mrs. Hopewell claims she
can t brag about her daughter being a philosopher because philosophy ended with the Greeks and
Romans . On top of her school accomplishments, Mrs. Hopewell also finds a problem with Hulga s
name change. At the age of 21, Hulga got her official name changed from Joy , which obviously upset
her mother as she believed that Hulga looked through the dictionary for the ugliest name imaginable;
she even went as far as to say she thought of the broad blank

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Functional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a
diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance imaging to assess cardiac function (5). Cine
studies can reconstruct images across several phases of the cardiac cycle. This method of MRI can
measure left ventricular volume, ejection fraction, myocardial contraction, and strain rate (10). MRI
has the ability to provide information on left ventricular function as well as regional profusion
simultaneously (11). The new MRI techniques can also evaluate angiogenesis and myocardial
viability. This has proven to be a valuable tool in diagnosing many heart conditions such as

MRI does not expose the patient to radiopharmaceuticals, which gives cardiac MRI an advantage over
nuclear medicine (13). MRI also has better resolution than nuclear medicine. The excellent contrast
resolution of MRI produces a well defined endocardial border (7). MRI does not have the problem of
limited acoustic windows that sometimes inhibits echocardiographic imaging. Although MRI is a
reliable modality for cardiac imaging, there are some limitations to consider with this modality. MRI
is contraindicated for patients implanted devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators. As with MUGA
and SPECT studies, cardiac MRI is not as accurate in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. When
calculating ejection fraction with MRI, it is necessary for the patient hold their breath. This means
poor image quality for studies done on patients who cannot hold their breath. In addition to this, any
variation in the level of inspiration will affect the accuracy of ejection fraction calculations

Why Is Fighting In Hockey Wrong
Fighting in Hockey: Wrong, or Right?
Ice hockey is a full contact sport played by individuals skating on ice, carrying sticks to push a
vulcanized rubber puck around the ice in an attempt to shoot the puck into an opposing teams net to
score goals. Tempers flare consequently fights break out between players battling one another for
supremacy on the ice. Fighting in the game of ice hockey has been a part of the game since the
inception of the National Hockey League, known as the NHL, in 1917. Fighting is officially
prohibited, but it is an unofficially condoned part of professional hockey, in current professional
hockey leagues a player engaged in a fight will serve a five to ten minute penalty for fighting. The

There comes into question the moral code that fighting in hockey brings about, what kind of example
is being presented to the public and children in general? There is a discussion that these continued
displays of violence send a message to the public that contradicts many values that are instilled from a
young age. Author Charles Gillis, argues that punching another person is no way to resolve frustration.
He goes on to question why is it thought reasonable in hockey and more to the point, is fighting not
antithetical to the concept of athletic competition (51)? Children see the glorified aspect of fighting in
hockey, consequently they do not always recognize the negative impact it has in other areas of their
life. [In the game of hockey and life] what are rules and officials for, if not to prevent players from
taking justice into their own hands? Why should they serve this purpose in other contact sports, but
not hockey (Gillis 51)? Opponents to fighting in hockey believe the violence in ice hockey is
unnecessary and wrong.
Antagonists of fighting in hockey believe it is wrong for the reason that there is no correlation
between fighting and winning games. A research project done in the NHL, looking at 4,240 NHL
game summaries from five consecutive seasons were examined to determine the outcome of team s
overall standings at the end of a season while looking at the number of fighting penalty minutes
served, and the number of goals scored by the teams. The findings, published in the Perceptual and

Living As A Lesbian, And August Jordan s A New Politics...
The articles that stood out the most to me were Cheryl Clarke s Living As a Lesbian and June Jordan s
A New Politics of Sexuality . These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic (lesbians)
they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because it is a prime
example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles contain many
differences, similarities and information to be reflected on.
Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually,
platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a
woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine, viz.,
the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her argument that
lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society wants them to adhere
to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t solely out to rebel but are just
pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no one sort of lesbian and that whether
you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn t change the fact that you are resisting
against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl Clarke also disagrees with the idea of
bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual. Following along with this Cheryl

American Dream Argumentative Essay
In 1937, James Truslow Adams coined the term American Dream in his book The Epic of America.
Adams stated the American Dream was a land of opportunity for everyone. In this utopia, every man
and woman is able to reach their highest potential in employment, housing, and family regardless of
birth or position, because they worked hard and earned it ( What is The American Dream? ). Ever
since 1937, Americans have had this idea in their head of finally achieving the American Dream with
their spouse, house, white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and movement up the socioeconomic ladder. It is
what people whisper at night as they leave their war torn streets for a better life. Yet in the past few
years, that dream has begun to crumble. I believe Millennials are waking up to see that this dream
utopia is flawed.
Homeownership is a double edged sword. It is the American Dream to one day own a house.
Compared to their predecessors, Millennials are seeing the advantages and disadvantages of
homeownership at an earlier age. These early generations believed owning a house was the cherry on
top to being an all around American and achieving the American Dream . As a cynical generation who
grew up with information at our fingertips and the world falling around us, millennials see
homeownership differently. The cautious and conservative approach to home buying displayed by
millennials is driven by the fact their outlook on life was shaped by a number of bad things when they
were young the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the 2008 financial crisis, the
housing bust with mass foreclosures and a weak recovery that has so far provided incomes below that
of prior generations (Stowe England, 36). We learned that the world was not fair and that it is time to
redefine the American Dream to reflect our current economic society.
Owning a house comes with various responsibilities, many of which Millennials cannot absolve.
Firstly, homeowners set down roots by owning a house. Previous generations knew that once they
bought this house they would live there until the end of their days. Millennials do not experience that
type of lifestyle, especially in a job market where they might be required to move outside of

As artistic styles and techniques developed during the Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo periods,
they became increasingly reliant on scientific knowledge and experimentation. Two of the major
factors of this trend were the continuing improvements in the understanding of human anatomy, and a

During the Renaissance, in the year 1420, Brunelleschi completed an experiment which allowed him

What Is The Narrative Voice In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, evidential impact are put upon the reader in
various methods. The narrative voice in the story depicts how engaged the reader is alongside of the
story the interpreter chooses to support. In To Kill a Mockingbird the narrator adopts a first person

whom is not only older Scout but young Scout too. Two distinct voices innocence whilst she was a

The overwhelming passing of time makes Scout see almost everything differently and in a more
mature manner. Thus, the impact would change as everyone of those characters would have different

she demonstrates a child s perspective with innocence and truth. A child views the scenario s without a

told in retrospect putting together an unreliable story, however, leaving the essence of it still present.
Given limitations, it provides recounting events from childhood as an adulthood with the exaggeration

First British Settlers in Australia Essay
When did the British settlers arrive at Australia?
The first fleet arrived at Botany Bay on the 18th of January 1788 which was later declared as an

While setting up the official penal colony 751 convicts along with 252 marines were released and

The infectious diseases that were introduced by the British settlers were an immediate consequence
which caused the Aboriginal population to decrease dramatically. The Aborigines had no sort of

The Environmental Factors And Causes Of Heart Failure
Introduction
Heart failure is a chronic disease that has been affecting individuals for centuries. According to
American Heart Association 2017, heart failure occurs when heart muscles is weakened and cannot
pump enough blood to meet the body s demanding need for blood and oxygen. Heart failure can be
hereditary. However if not hereditary, there are environmental factors that can contribute to heart
failure. Heart failure can be prevented and control. In this paper, I will discuss the causes of heart
failure. I will aso discuss how heart failure can be prevented. If heart failure is not prevented, I will
also discuss how to live with heart failure.
Living with heart failure can be a challenge. However when controlled, people can live normal healthy
lives with heart failure by modifying lifestyle changes. Heart failure can be seen like a balloon. A
balloon can be filled up with so much water and or air such as a heart. A heart can be filled with so
much blood and fluid. When a balloon continuously to get filled with air, it gets bigger and bigger
until it explodes. This causes water from the balloon to go everywhere. This is like the heart. When
too much fluid goes to the heart by unnecessary means, the heart gets bigger and bigger. The heart is
only able to carry a certain amount of fluid or oxygen. The heart distributes this fluid to other parts of
the body. When the heart gets too much fluid it explodes such as the balloon the heart enlarges and has

Cultural Geography Course Analysis
One of the classes I think I ve grown in is Cultural Geography because I am paying more attention and
I did very good on the final. Another class I think I ve grown in is English because I pay more
attention and I understand the work better. The Habit of Heart and Mind I think I ve improved most on
is putting more effort in my work and thinking more outside of the box. I have gotten better at the
habit of responsibility by finishing everything on time and trying my very best, effort continues to be a
struggle for me because when I don t get something I don t put much effort because I give up easily. I
am most proud that I have been trying my best because usually I just give up and try not to accomplish
what I want. If I could go back and do something differently I would stay focus since the beginning

The most important thing I´ve learned so far is to not let your friends distract you and always try your
very best. Semester 2 I want to do very good and stay very focus because I been slipping and not been
focusing in my work lately. I want to actually try and be a good student like in the beginning of school
year, in the beginning of school year I was doing really good I was really surprised because I had a
4.00 and that was my first time getting a high GPA cause the highest I´ve gotten is a 3.17 and I was
really happy to see that I was actually starting off good but then I slipped and ended up with a low
GPA and now I want to try my best to get it up to at least a 3.00. But one thing I really like about
myself is that no matter what I always keep trying my best because I actually want to get somewhere
in life and I don´t want to keep on slipping like I always do I just wanna stay on track and be a good
student like my dad always wanted me to be. That´s why I try my best just for him because I wanna

AREA OF FOCUS AND FRAMEWORK
 BACKGROUND AND AREA OF FOCUS Set up in 1982 as BOLDDISK in Waltham,
Massachusetts, BoldFlash alludes to a portable enterprise, which had a center goal of working as PC
storage media. Afterward, the organization was re branded as BoldFlash, and it moved to shanghai,
Ontario and Austin. By and by, the fundamental operations of the firm are flashing memories, and its
affirmed customer is OEM and Direct to Consumer commercial centers.
Generally, BoldFlash is encountering various difficulties, comprehensive of shopper dependability, on
time transference of cost, and the nature of administrations, to say only a couple. The whole procedure
requires frameworks and structures, which would enhance customer recovery inside the following
more than four decades (45 years). On a few events, the association fell beneath its commercial center
opponents; for illustrations, it encountered a total strain or weight on the costs other than the capacity
of getting brand items to meet or satisfy the necessities of the market (Fortuna and Mohorčič, 2015).
Prior to the demise of the predecessor of Roger Cahill, the cell phone division experienced repetitive
chips improvement. With an aggregate miss on the center commercial center storage hardware in
tablets, BoldFlash s opponent got an aggressive edge over the organization inside the essential
commercial center. The essential driver of this misfortune was credited to Harrison, who was
exceptionally oppressive or dictatorial. He advanced a complaint custom inside the organization where
each specialist attempted so much shielding themselves from his iron fist sort of administration.
Roger Cahill, a free, amicable, and liberated individual, saw this as the rule reason for struggle inside
the partnership. While working in the fundamental workplaces, he didn t know of the desires from
different hierarchical offices under his administration. For every one of the divisions under his

The Fall of Both Mubarak’s Regime and the Legal...
Introduction :
By the end of Mubarak s rule, the legalised political opposition in Egypt was already a mirror to the
regime it was presumed to challenge: discreditable, central, aging and undemocratic.
Systematic state repression and internal divisions fragmented the opposition and deviated it from the
role assumed by its counterparts in liberal democracies. Instead of competitive interaction with the
regime, the legal opposition stationed itself as an integral part of the authoritarian polity. Years of
regime opposition dynamics ended with the latter s alignment with the regime and becoming more of
a domesticated opposition. This clientelist relationship was necessary for the survival of the semi
authoritarian regime. It enabled it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1990s were labeled as Egypt s deliberalisation period (Stacher, 2004).
They were regarded as the years when the regime gave birth to new forms of authoritarianism that do
not fit into classic categories of one party, military, or personal dictatorship (Schedler, 2002).
Since the publication of Huntington s Third Wave in 1991, many analysts have anticipated a
democratic transition to occur in Egypt.
Indicators of the progress of the democratization process in Egypt included the emergence of
thousands of civil society groups, legal political parties, and numerous newspapers, as well as the
increasing role of the judiciary and rule of law. Yet, despite the arguments that Egypt s managed
process has a democratic endgame, the 1990s witnessed a rollback of civil society and political
opposition.
The deliberalisation process began in the early 1990s and was initially directed at Islamist activism
and political aspirations. When the regime successfully dealt with the Islamists, it began to curtail its
own weak opposition parties. Of the sixteen legalized opposition parties in Egypt, seven have been
closed since 1998. The regime also prevented prominent independent members of parliament from
using already existing parties to challenge the ruling party (Stacher, 2004).
As Kienle (1998) argues: Since the

Speech On The Mosquito
All these numbers are small in comparison with the deadliest creature in the world. According to
World Health Organization, this creature is responsible for killing more than 1 million people every
year. It is estimated that this creature kills one child every 30 seconds. The deadly bite of this creature
can cause a myriad of diseases. It can cause encephalitis, filariasis, yellow fever, West Nile Virus,
Chikungunya virus, Zika virus, malaria, and dengue fever. By now, you should know which deadly
creature I m talking about. That s right, it s the mosquito.
Now, at one look, you won t see mosquito as scary, right? In fact, if you see a mosquito, you don t run
away but instead, you will chase it down until you kill it. As a Christian, ask yourself, what are the
little things that matter in your life? You may easily spot the crocodiles, sharks, hippopotamuses, and
snakes in your life. But are you also recognizing the mosquitoes? ... Show more content on

and they, therefore, avoid them like the plague. But for little sins, they do not worry much about. They
indulge in them feeling it doesn t matter. Some categorized these things as little sins which don t have
the same consequences as the big sins. But the truth of the matter is that in God s sight, there is no
such thing as little sins or big sins, sin is sin whether big or small and they carry the same consequence
and punishment. The Bible makes it abundantly clear in Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death. . .
In most cases, it is the smallest things that pose the greatest risk in our lives. In the same manner, it is
the little sins in our Christian life that can lead us to spiritual death. These little sins are more
dangerous than the sins we consider as big sins. As Christians, if we allow those sins we term as little
in our lives, they can hinder us from getting to heaven. Most of these little sins come in

Communicating Through Numbers in Toni Morrison s Beloved...
Communicating Through Numbers in Beloved
Humanity uses numbers as a way to communicate beyond words, evoking ideas more readily than
words alone are able to. All religions and cultures have significant numbers that communicate an
essence or idea more quickly and completely than words can. It is in this manner that Toni Morrison
uses numbers in Beloved. Significant numbers occur starting with the first symbols of the text and the
words on the pages before the body of the text starts.
124. The first thing to appear, and we already have a significant number. Sethe has four children. The
third one is dead. Numbers 1, 2, and 4 remain. Another number that stands alone in its significance is
twenty eight. Twenty eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than tell Sethe with words that trying to kill her children was inhuman, Paul D uses numbers:
You got two feet, Sethe, not four (165). There are thirty women that arrive to remove Beloved. Thirty
is a symbol of justice and order, according to Marianne Schimmel. When schoolteacher arrives with
his party, they are described as the four horsemen (148). In fact, the only time a number occurs by
itself as a sentence is to describe them: All the while it was coming down the road. Four. Riding close
together, bunched up like, and righteous (157). Each of these is a powerful symbol, though none of
these numbers recur in the text, at least not with these meanings.
Two is duality, a pair, a division. It is also a unity, two halves of the same whole. Sex is expressed in
many cultures as a duality, the yin and yang, father sky and mother earth. In Beloved, twos, fours, and
even twenties occur in situations related to sex and children. Baby Suggs has eight children (209), four
girls, four boys. Sethe has four. Two boys, two girls. 124 has two stories, and Sethe and Paul D have
sex on the second floor. At Mrs. Garner s wedding, they ate four sheep (59). From the two buckets of
blackberries he picked, Stamp Paid put two into the mouth of four week old Denver (170). At Baby
Suggs revival, after talking about your life holding womb and your life giving private parts, the crowd
sings in four part harmony (89). Such a performance

was a practising catholic and man of deep faith passed away when she was very young. However his
strong faith servilely impacted her. His inspiring example lead Catherine to persist being a Catholic
her entire life. Which meant going against all the pressures and resisting or the criticism. Catherine s
mother lacked her husbands depth of faith and was much more interested in her social status within
Dublin society than her religion. It was her father who provided her with the first model of service to
the poor through his involvement with those in his own community. The second death of her parent

However again this has shaped the way Catherine was, and built her strong and caring character.

The two of them were on parole from the Kansas State Penitentiary. They did the murders on
November 15, 1959. A prisoners who had worked on the farm told Hickock about a safe at the farm
where Clutter kept his money. He soon came up with an idea to rob Herbert and start a new life in
Mexico. He described his plan as easy and the perfect crime. He later talked to Smith, who was his
former cellmate, about doing the robbery with him. The information proved to be wrong since Herbert
didn t keep cash at home and did all his business by check. After driving across Kansas, Hickock and
Smith located the Clutter home and entered while the family was asleep. After they woke the family
and found out there was no money, Smith slit Cutter s throat and then shot him in the head. Kenyon,
Nancy, and then Mrs. Clutter were also murdered, each by a single shotgun blast to the head. In Smith
confession, he claimed that Hickock murdered the two women. When asked to sign his confession
Smith refused. He said he wanted to accept responsibility for all four killings because he was sorry for
Dick s mother. Hickock always maintained that Smith committed all four

are her feet. She is always grabbing them, playing with her toes, and putting them in her mouth. I have
noticed that she loves to grab her right foot with her left hand and put her righthand into her mouth,

Credibility Sparknotes
Credibility
Lucinda Chumley
Life Pacific College
Credibility
James Kouzes and Barry Posner wrote a leadership book entitled Credibility: How leaders gain and
lose it, why people demand it ( Credibility ). It was written specifically for managers because, while
academia had a wealth of research regarding credibility, little had been directed toward managers
(Kouzes Posner, 2003, p. 276). The edition selected for review was published in 2003. The purpose of
this paper is to examine the leadership theories it contains, both explicit and implicit.
Implicit theories are influenced by individual beliefs, values, and personality traits, as well as by
shared beliefs and values about leaders in the organizational culture and the national culture (Yukl,
2010, p. 135). This idiom states this principal well: Every action begins with a belief. One distinctive
feature of Credibility is that all chapter headings, and most sub headings, use action verbs with an ing
ending. For example, chapter titles include: Discovering yourself (p. 58) Appreciating constituents (p.
88), Affirming shared values (p. 119), and et cetera. This indicates implicit theory at work. On every
page, the very words convey and compel action. The authors are utilizing charismatic communication
(Yukl, 2010, p. 265).
The unseen force that propels Credibility is a blend of ethical, transformational, and servant leadership
theories . The book s introductory pages initiate this idea with

The Effects of Nitrous Oxide Essay

medical advances. Surgeries such as childbirth, teeth extractions, leg amputations, and even tumor

Social Contract And The Civil Society
The social contract and the push for individuals to enter it rely on some conception of a state of nature.
Whilst the expected behaviour of persons in the state of nature differs among the social contract
theorists, the classical writings all share one common feature, a generalised potential for threat from
other persons (Dicus 2015, p. 105). However, the nature of this threat in the hypothetical state of
nature is not verifiable, as is the transition to civil society. The signing of the social contract is also not
literal, and none of the societies that the social contract theorists write from have entered into such an
agreement. The most comparable circumstance to agreeing to enter into a social contract is the period
of rebuilding society after revolution, but this relies on members of the society having the freedom to
remain an individual or join (Gough 1957). The killing of dissenting persons also suggests that
comparison is ineffective. Even so, social contract remains a popular justification of the state, albeit
declining in popularity since the 17th and 18th century, despite its hypothetical nature. Rawls attempts
to justify it by arguing that the demands of the hypothetical contract with equal and frees individuals
are the closest theorists can come to being a voluntary scheme of obedience to the law (Simmons
1999). On the other hand, William Paley (cited in Gough 1957, p.197) argues that a non factual
contract cannot be used as a foundation for any theory and

First, for Thanksgiving, you can have your nails painted as turkeys, cornucopias, or as an alternating
pattern between pilgrim hats and Indian feathered headdresses. For Christmas, you can have
Christmas trees, Santa Claus?s face, reindeer (with Rudolph in the lead on your thumb or big toe!),
wrapped presents, Christmas tree ornaments, angels or stars painted on your nails. You can also simply
paint your nails as an alternating color scheme between the two most festive colors, red and green, or
take it a step further by having glitter or a metallic matte topcoat added to imitate tinsel or the sparkle
of snow, for an extra dose of magic and the Christmas spirit. If you celebrate Hanukkah, you can paint
lit menorahs, dreidels, or the colors white and blue on your nails. Lastly, for New Year?s Eve and Day,
you can paint fireworks, disco balls, or the digits of the new year on your fingers. Like with
Christmas, you can also add glitter or other shiny materials like the metallic matte topcoat to give off a
sparkling and bedazzled look to fit in with the holiday?s mood and

Stress Relief Response Research
Motivation: I pick this topic because whenever I feel stress, listening to music will reduce my stress,
so I was curious to find out if people react the same way as me. I think I would find either female or

How To Petition For Family Members
Three Things a U.S. Citizen Should Know About Immigration Petitions for Family Members
If you are an American citizen, you have the right to petition for the legal residence of an immediately
family member. Immigration services also refers to this as an immediate relative. But what you may
believe constitutes an immediate relative may be different from the government. The following are
three things to understand about this status.
You cannot petition for legal residence of your mother in law or father in law
This can become an issues when a United States citizen has a foreign born spouse. If your spouse or
finance has one or both parents living in a foreign country, you may want to bring his or her parents to
live in America. However, this is not possible. If you are a United States citizen, you can only petition
for your parents, but not your spouse s parents. Your spouse, however, can petition for his or her
parents to become legal residents, but only after they become a United States citizen.

Your future spouse should be living outside the United States or inside the country legally. If he or she
entered the country illegally, you will not be able to petition for a green card. If, however, they entered
legally but overstayed their visa, it may be possible to petition for a green card. You will need the
assistance of an immigration attorney for this legal circumstance.
For a U.S. citizen, getting a green card for a spouse or family member may seem easy, but there are
many fine points to the laws, and there are often changes every year. The information above should at
the least alert you to some of the complexities involved. Every U. S. citizen should consult with an
immigration attorney regarding green cards for family

Social Injustice Speech
Question: How can dancers of color prove their place in the white world of ballet? By definition,
dance is for everyone. But how come we rarely see dancers of color have the lead role or even be seen
on stage? Racial prejudice is still a social issue that impacts society today. For instance Precious
Adams was told to bleach her skin by one of her teachers while studying at the Bolshoi Ballet
Academy. Michaela Deprince overheard one of directors saying we don t put a lot of effort in the
black girls, because they end up getting fat . So how can dancers of color to show others that they are
good enough to be put on stage?
To answer the question, I did research, read articles, as well as watched documentaries. ... Show more

As the inspector is looking around, she spots Adams, she steps in front of her and asks What are you
doing here? . Although skinny, Adams is different from the other ballerinas at the academy Why?,
because unlike most of her classmates Adams is black, and is about to graduate in the spring as one of
the first African American ballerinas to finish school, despite the persistent discrimination at the
academy that is used to lighter skin complexions. Why is she one of the first? Why does it not feel
normal for someone to graduate the academy as an African American? In more than two years at the
academy, Adams has been left out of performances because of the color of her skin, she says, and has
been told to try and rub the black off to make her look like what the directors want for the shows, Why
are we compelled to follow the ground rules? Why can t we choose what can be right, and what is a
good idea for a later time?
Another example is the Michaela Deprince incident where at the age the 10 years old, she thought of
quitting dance after a teacher told her mother that she didn t want to put a lot of

When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394). Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62). • 10. Good Country People Characters Flannery O Connor s Good Country People is a seemingly two dimensional story based around Hulga Hopewell, a pessimistic atheist, who lives in an old fashioned country home alongside her mother, Mrs. Hopewell, some others include the farmhand, Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Freeman s two daughters, Carramae and Glynese. Throughout the story, Mrs. Hopewell, along with the other characters, assert their views to hulga that good country people are the foundation of living a good life. The story compares and contrasts these distinctive character views in order to create a more realistic and three dimensional outlook from the context. Instead of looking down on her for getting involved with every one s business, Mrs. Hopewell looks at this as a positive quality by letting her be responsible for everything around the house. When it comes to her treatment toward Hulga however, Mrs. Hopewell seems to lack a certain sense of sympathy; for example, when she would ask Hulga for help in the fields, she would tell her If you can t come pleasantly, I don t want you at all . This suggests an obvious intolerance for her negative behavior. The relationship between Hulga and her mother seems to be that of a disobedient child and her intolerant mother. Regardless of Hulga s accomplishments, Mrs. Hopewell still seems incapable of getting past her negative attitude. For example, she believes college did nothing to break her out of her shell even though Hulga went through years of school to get her Ph. D in Philosophy. Mrs. Hopewell claims she can t brag about her daughter being a philosopher because philosophy ended with the Greeks and Romans . On top of her school accomplishments, Mrs. Hopewell also finds a problem with Hulga s name change. At the age of 21, Hulga got her official name changed from Joy , which obviously upset her mother as she believed that Hulga looked through the dictionary for the ugliest name imaginable; she even went as far as to say she thought of the broad blank ... Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Functional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance imaging to assess cardiac function (5). Cine studies can reconstruct images across several phases of the cardiac cycle. This method of MRI can measure left ventricular volume, ejection fraction, myocardial contraction, and strain rate (10). MRI has the ability to provide information on left ventricular function as well as regional profusion simultaneously (11). The new MRI techniques can also evaluate angiogenesis and myocardial viability. Author Charles Gillis, argues that punching another person is no way to resolve frustration. He goes on to question why is it thought reasonable in hockey and more to the point, is fighting not antithetical to the concept of athletic competition (51)? Children see the glorified aspect of fighting in hockey, consequently they do not always recognize the negative impact it has in other areas of their life. Why should they serve this purpose in other contact sports, but not hockey (Gillis 51)? Opponents to fighting in hockey believe the violence in ice hockey is unnecessary and wrong. Antagonists of fighting in hockey believe it is wrong for the reason that there is no correlation between fighting and winning games. These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic (lesbians) they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because it is a prime example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles contain many differences, similarities and information to be reflected on. Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually, platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine, viz., the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her argument that lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society wants them to adhere to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t solely out to rebel but are just pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no one sort of lesbian and that whether you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn t change the fact that you are resisting against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl Clarke also disagrees with the idea of bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual. Following along with this Cheryl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. American Dream Argumentative Essay In 1937, James Truslow Adams coined the term American Dream in his book The Epic of America. Adams stated the American Dream was a land of opportunity for everyone. In this utopia, every man and woman is able to reach their highest potential in employment, housing, and family regardless of birth or position, because they worked hard and earned it ( What is The American Dream? ). Ever since 1937, Americans have had this idea in their head of finally achieving the American Dream with their spouse, house, white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and movement up the socioeconomic ladder. It is what people whisper at night as they leave their war torn streets for a better life. Yet in the past few years, that dream has begun to crumble. I believe Millennials are waking up to see that this dream utopia is flawed. Homeownership is a double edged sword. It is the American Dream to one day own a house. Compared to their predecessors, Millennials are seeing the advantages and disadvantages of homeownership at an earlier age. These early generations believed owning a house was the cherry on top to being an all around American and achieving the American Dream . As a cynical generation who grew up with information at our fingertips and the world falling around us, millennials see homeownership differently. The cautious and conservative approach to home buying displayed by millennials is driven by the fact their outlook on life was shaped by a number of bad things when they were young the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the 2008 financial crisis, the housing bust with mass foreclosures and a weak recovery that has so far provided incomes below that of prior generations (Stowe England, 36). We learned that the world was not fair and that it is time to redefine the American Dream to reflect our current economic society. Owning a house comes with various responsibilities, many of which Millennials cannot absolve. Firstly, homeowners set down roots by owning a house. Previous generations knew that once they bought this house they would live there until the end of their days. Millennials do not experience that type of lifestyle, especially in a job market where they might be required to move outside of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Richard Clarke, free expression over the internet and its privacy are two sides of the same coin (Privacy and security(n.d.)). The individual can only request for putting down the links, but the decision is on the search engine company if they would accept the individual s request. In my opinion, I believe such law should be diminished. If this continues, a criminal, a doctor, a pharmacist, an engineer or a politician can remove their earlier misdeeds from the search engines. People would not be able to access their background and might take some wrong decisions. Individuals can get away from their earlier malicious deeds just due to this law of Right to be Forgotten that hides such individual s information from the common people. This goes against the right to get access to information or freedom of information for common people. For example, if a doctor has some negative record about a surgery that went wrong leading to a patient s death and he removes such information from the search engine, people cannot take the right decision whether to choose the doctor. Introduction : By the end of Mubarak s rule, the legalised political opposition in Egypt was already a mirror to the regime it was presumed to challenge: discreditable, central, aging and undemocratic. Systematic state repression and internal divisions fragmented the opposition and deviated it from the role assumed by its counterparts in liberal democracies. Instead of competitive interaction with the regime, the legal opposition stationed itself as an integral part of the authoritarian polity. Years of regime opposition dynamics ended with the latter s alignment with the regime and becoming more of a domesticated opposition. The 1990s were labeled as Egypt s deliberalisation period (Stacher, 2004). They were regarded as the years when the regime gave birth to new forms of authoritarianism that do not fit into classic categories of one party, military, or personal dictatorship (Schedler, 2002). Since the publication of Huntington s Third Wave in 1991, many analysts have anticipated a democratic transition to occur in Egypt. Indicators of the progress of the democratization process in Egypt included the emergence of thousands of civil society groups, legal political parties, and numerous newspapers, as well as the increasing role of the judiciary and rule of law. Yet, despite the arguments that Egypt s managed process has a democratic endgame, the 1990s witnessed a rollback of civil society and political opposition. The deliberalisation process began in the early 1990s and was initially directed at Islamist activism and political aspirations. When the regime successfully dealt with the Islamists, it began to curtail its own weak opposition parties. Of the sixteen legalized opposition parties in Egypt, seven have been closed since 1998. Communicating Through Numbers in Beloved Humanity uses numbers as a way to communicate beyond words, evoking ideas more readily than words alone are able to. All religions and cultures have significant numbers that communicate an essence or idea more quickly and completely than words can. It is in this manner that Toni Morrison uses numbers in Beloved. Significant numbers occur starting with the first symbols of the text and the words on the pages before the body of the text starts. 124. In fact, the only time a number occurs by itself as a sentence is to describe them: All the while it was coming down the road. Four. Riding close together, bunched up like, and righteous (157). Each of these is a powerful symbol, though none of these numbers recur in the text, at least not with these meanings. Two is duality, a pair, a division. It is also a unity, two halves of the same whole. Sex is expressed in many cultures as a duality, the yin and yang, father sky and mother earth. • 33. Credibility Sparknotes Credibility Lucinda Chumley Life Pacific College Credibility James Kouzes and Barry Posner wrote a leadership book entitled Credibility: How leaders gain and lose it, why people demand it ( Credibility ). It was written specifically for managers because, while academia had a wealth of research regarding credibility, little had been directed toward managers (Kouzes Posner, 2003, p. 276). The edition selected for review was published in 2003. The purpose of this paper is to examine the leadership theories it contains, both explicit and implicit. Implicit theories are influenced by individual beliefs, values, and personality traits, as well as by shared beliefs and values about leaders in the organizational culture and the national culture (Yukl, 2010, p. 135). This idiom states this principal well: Every action begins with a belief. One distinctive feature of Credibility is that all chapter headings, and most sub headings, use action verbs with an ing ending. For example, chapter titles include: Discovering yourself (p. 58) Appreciating constituents (p. 88), Affirming shared values (p. 119), and et cetera. This indicates implicit theory at work. On every page, the very words convey and compel action. The authors are utilizing charismatic communication (Yukl, 2010, p. 265). The unseen force that propels Credibility is a blend of ethical, transformational, and servant leadership theories . The book s introductory pages initiate this idea with ... • 39. Social Contract And The Civil Society The social contract and the push for individuals to enter it rely on some conception of a state of nature. Whilst the expected behaviour of persons in the state of nature differs among the social contract theorists, the classical writings all share one common feature, a generalised potential for threat from other persons (Dicus 2015, p. 105). However, the nature of this threat in the hypothetical state of nature is not verifiable, as is the transition to civil society. The signing of the social contract is also not literal, and none of the societies that the social contract theorists write from have entered into such an agreement. The most comparable circumstance to agreeing to enter into a social contract is the period of rebuilding society after revolution, but this relies on members of the society having the freedom to remain an individual or join (Gough 1957). The killing of dissenting persons also suggests that comparison is ineffective. Even so, social contract remains a popular justification of the state, albeit declining in popularity since the 17th and 18th century, despite its hypothetical nature. Rawls attempts to justify it by arguing that the demands of the hypothetical contract with equal and frees individuals are the closest theorists can come to being a voluntary scheme of obedience to the law (Simmons 1999). On the other hand, William Paley (cited in Gough 1957, p.197) argues that a non factual contract cannot be used as a foundation for any theory and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
