Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock Essay
The song Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock tells how America needs more soldiers to fight a
war that s nowhere near American soil for a reason that is not well known to the american
soldier. Country Joe is basically saying that the soldiers do not know what they are fighting for
and frankly don t give a damn, all they know is that they have been drafted for a war they do not
approve of. Many people of this time made protest songs against the war and some of the songs
leave more to the imagination than other songs such as the Anti VietnamWar song.
The largest Anti Vietnam conference was held on November 15, 1969, and was hosted by the
Vietnam Moratorium. This convention is believed to be the biggest anti war conference ever in
american history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article relates to the song, The House of the Rising Sun , because Eisenhower s position on
the war was that he recommended going to war because no one stopped the rise of Hitler and
Mussolini causing a tragic future. The containment of communism is needed now rather than
letting it spread further, making it harder to get rid of in the future.
The song Handsome Johnny , written by Richie Havens, shows the evolution of war in his song.
Each war the weapon that Handsome Johnny used got more sophisticated and more efficient at
killing. This is a powerful song because people will fight for what they believe in and will even
fight for what they do not know. Handsome Johnny are the soldiers of America, fighting from the
civil war, all the way up to the korean war.
During the 1960 s was when the Anti War movements were most common. There were over
hundred of organizations all fighting for the same thing; Peace. People would write speeches,
people would strike, many people would listen to Anti War music. Many artist in the 1960 s would
release songs stating their opinions about the Vietnam war, and most of the artist would be against
war and promote peace and

Decision-Making Capacity
Competency would revolve around the ability to formulate a reasonable decision, it encompasses
the theory that as an individual we possess the knowledge, skill and free will to make a decision

Frederick Douglas In His Discourse, What To The Slaves,
Frederick Douglas in his discourse, What to the Slaves, Is the Fourth of July , expressively sets
up the deceptions predominant in American culture amid the 1800 s. He was made a request to
give a discourse at an abolitionist servitude meeting amid a Fourth of July festivity, and he
accepted that open door to dishearten the foundation of subjection. He esteemed it double dealing
for the abolitionist subjugation constituents to request that he convey such a discourse.
Considering he was, a dark man and got away slave it appeared to Douglas a little oxymoronic to
talk on this specific occasion. Nonetheless, the occasion made the ideal kairos for him to present

might Douglas turn out to be so forceful? The minor certainty that they requested that Douglas give

forceful approach in the later segments of the discourse. Making the tone of the discourse inactive

Salem Witch Trials And The Witch Trial Essay
From 1692 to 1693, twenty people were executed after being accused of witchcraft in Salem
Village, Massachusetts, many more died in jail, and around 200 people total were accused of
witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. Records from the event indicate that the Salem Witch
Trials started when a group of young girls began acting strange, claiming they had been possessed
by the Devil and bewitched by local villagers. The SalemWitch Trials is a much debated event;
historians argue over the motivation and causes behind the trials and executions, not over the
proceedings. Each historian approached the Salem Witch Trials with their own brand of logic and
interpretation building off of and criticizing the interpretations of their predecessors. No one
historical theory can conclusively explain the cause of the Salem Witch Trials because there were
too many variables and motivations among the villagers. These historians used the best of their
abilities to examine the events of the Salem Witch Trials and the mere fact that there are so many
interpretations means there are not certainties when it comes to this historical event. However, a
combination of their theories could provide a better picture of the Salem Witch story and the many
aspects in determining the outcome of the Salem Witch Trials. Charles W. Upham, George
Kittredge, Paul Boyer, Stephen Nissenbaum, Linnda Caporael, Carol Karlsen, Peter Charles
Hoffer, and Emerson Baker are all experts in their selected fields. They

Proposal Working Title: The future challenges in energy storage technology Rechargeable battery.
Proposal summary:
Impact Statement:
Project Description:
The future challenges in energy storage technology Rechargeable Battery.
Introduction
Background
Li ion rechargeable battery
Energy is the lifeblood of modern society, but the major energy supplies are fossil fuel generation,
which leads to air pollution and environmental issues. Then, there is an increasing need to develop
renewable energy to balance the demand and supply. Electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles
will be the effective method to decrease fossil fuel usage and rechargeable batteries are one of the
main strategies to power these vehicles. [tarascon] Figure1. Schematic illustration of the first Li ion
battery [123123]
Rechargeable battery is one of the electrochemical energy storage technologies, which can be
charged and discharged into a load and recharged many times. Compare to disposable batteries the
rechargeable batteries have higher initially cost, but they have a much lower total cost of ownership
and environmental impact since they can be recharged inexpensively many times before replaced
[wiki]. Therefore, rechargeable battery has a potential in commercial field. The three main targets
for rechargeable batteries are portable electronics, power

Job Enrichment and Job Enlargement
Job enrichment and job enlargement
Job Enrichment should be distinguished from enlargement job enlargement attempts to make a job
more varied by removing the dullness associated with performing repetitive operations. In job
enrichment, the attempt is to build in to jobs a higher sense of challenge and achievement. The
accumulation of achievement must lead to a felling of personal growth accompanied by a sense of
responsibility.
The goal of job enrichment is not merely to make the more varied but I the words of M.Scoot
myers research for taxes investment, which has been experimenting with the techniques is to make
every employee a manager . Thus the employee job is enriched will perform the management

2. Cost: Thought a great many companies appear to be interested in job enrichment programs, the
extra cost may seem high if a company is not convinced that the return will at least offset the
increase expenditure. General Motors tried six man and three man teams in the assembly line but
from that they found the work shoed and cost increased. At Saab Volvo and motors India. It was
found that increase cost is compensated by reduced absenteeism and labour turnover. Yet the cost of
the programme is formidable factor.
3. Attitude of managers: Another problem is the tendency of top managers and personal specialist
to apply their own scale people s personalities. As a result a few companies have abandoned or
modified their programs. M.Scott Myers belives that the failures have occurred because the
manager were not really committed to theory Y and in most cases job enrichment is usually
imposed on people . They are told about it rather than consulted.
4. Attitude of Workers: The attitude of some employers also represent obstacles. Various surveys of
workers attitudes have shown that high percentages of workers attitude have shown that high
percentages of workers are not interesting jobs. Some have complained that enriched jobs provide
too many opportunities to commit mistakes. Some workers fears that the increased productivity
sought may even mean loss of

Descriptive Essay About Family Vacation
At the end of last year, my father announced that we will be having a family meeting to discuss
our summer vacation plans. Not this again I thought. Every year, when my father announced a
family meeting regarding our vacation plans, he just explains how we re going down to North
Carolina to see our family and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My family and I have been
to Myrtle Beach for the past eight years. Like every year to show appreciation, I attended the
family meeting. I remember how my father had this stupid excited look on his face. He then
opened a huge brochure that said Atlantis Bahamas. I jumped out of my seat in shock, and danced
around like an idiot. I was really excited that I would finally be going to an exotic island and that is

Before I entered the hotel I closed my eyes and walked in. I was greeted to the new smells and
the atmosphere of what it was like to be in the Bahamas. About a half hour later, my family and I
were checked into our hotel room. Our room was a normal sized room with a balcony that
viewed the park and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my
first step into the crystal clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I
did not have to take time to get used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I
went to a boat ride to go snuba diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba
diving. Snuba diving was a different form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to
an oxygen tank. You would then put the air piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I
was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of sharks. However, when I went in, I was not
afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish. Check. Finally, at dinner time, my father took
us to this five star course meal in the hotel. I ate mahi mahi. Check and

Symbols In The Bull Moose By Alden Nowlan
In the poem The Bull Moose by Alden Nowlan, he accurately portrays how out of touch man has
become from nature. The speaker is an observer who is watching the neighborhood interact with the
bull moose. At first, the townspeople stand around and stare at the moose and wonder where he
came from. They believe that the moose is docile, so they begin to treat him like an old, tolerant
collie but at the end, they are reminded of his incredible power. Throughout the poem, the speaker
maintains a sympathetic tone toward the moose as they watch the group torment him. Through the
speaker and powerful imagery, the theme is revealed. The author uses symbols to help the reader

with Mabel s three brothers discussing what they will do once their family farm has sold. While
her brothers question her about what she will do she remains silent. Mabel s thinks her life is so
meaningless because she feels oppressed by her brothers. Not only had she been maintaining
the household alone for 10 years but they often call her names and talk at her no to her. The
author adds, They had talked at her and round her for so many years, that she hardly heard them
at all showing how long this oppression had been going on. While she is described as having
plain features her brothers say she looks like a bull dog . Her life becomes unbearable when the
family runs out of money. Before her father died leaving them a heap of debt she believed life
was worthwhile because at the very least they had money. Her brothers were still awful to her
and had a reputation for being promiscuous, but they had financial security. To help the reader
understand why money is so important to her the author states, ...so long as there was money, the
girl felt herself established, and brutally proud, reserved . Once the money is gone Mabel feels
hopeless as she thinks that there is no longer a life for her. While her brothers make plans on
where to go once the farm is sold she does not make any decisions. She values security and without

My own experiences having raised three children, two girls and a boy have shown that access by
them to technology such as the computer, other technological devices and access to the internet
and television programming have contributed to aspects of their own self development which
were not available to their predecessors and in my own considered judgment, based on these
developments allow for a level of maturity beyond their young ages. Given the observations on
growing p too fast, as discussed above and inclusive of research and findings by Hymowitz (1998)
which articulated on trends observed n the society in which his daughter grew up, supporting
discussions by the Sunday Sun ( 2011); Hughes (2009); Wilson ( 2008) and my own experiences in
observing the phenomena of children maturing at an earlier age than their predecessors, I submit
and support the thesis statement that children are growing up much faster currently than their
predecessors based on the evidence provided in the discussion which support such conclusions.
III.SECTION 3 CONCLUSION The phenomena of young children developing a more matured
status as opposed to their predecessors have been noted by a number of researchers. This
development have been attributed to a number of factors related to technology, exposure to
activities through various technological means which enhance their own education and even the
attitude by parents, which allow for a more matured

Differences Between A Prayer For Owen Meany
A Prayer For Owen Meany vs. Simon Birch Simon Birch is a movie inspired by the book A
Prayer for Owen Meany written by John Irving. I say inspired because the overall plot of the
movie is so different from the book, that John Irving had to ask the director to change the names
of the characters and other characteristics of the story. Even though the movie is supposed to be
somewhat different from the book, the director was not able to portray many recurring themes of
the novel that many readers, including myself, enjoyed. Therefore, I believe that it is a good
movie, but for the people that have never read the book. Like I said before, there are major
differences between these two. Some are very visible; the names of the characters. There are others
that even though are minor, they are completely unnecessary. This minor differences are small

In the book, the armadillo, the dressmaker s dummy, and the armless statue of Mary Magdalene
were very important. They represented how Owen s arms were God s instrument . In the movie,
however, the armadillo and the dummy are just there; they do not mean anything. The director
did not include the themes of the story that I enjoyed the most. Instead, they added events to the
movie that never happened in the book, and some of the events that occurred in the book, never
occurred in the movie. For instance, in the novel, Owen dies a lieutenant, and in the movie, he
dies as a boy. Also, in the movie, Simon speaks out loud during Mass and gets punished by the
reverend. This never happened in the novel. I liked that the movie shows how powerful Owen
and John s friendship was; you could really tell they cared about each other. I also enjoyed that
they emphasized that Owen was the reason why Johnny believed in God. Faith took a major role in
the book, and this theme was also included in the

Bacterial Lawns
1. Did your bacterial lawns contain only one species of bacteria on each plate, based on lawn
appearance? If not, why do you think that is?
I do believe that my bacterial lawns contained only one species of bacteria on each plate, they are
consistent in color and appearance from the bacteria colonies from Experiment 1. There is only
one difference and it involves plate 1, the toilet handle. I was unsure if it was because of the bacteria
or in reaction to the antibiotics but around the Kanamycin ZOI there is a brighter yellow ring
around it. I thought it was strange that only around there was such a reaction but as I said I was
not sure if it was a reaction to the Kanamycin.

This means that the bacteria for this lawn have cells that are surrounded by a cell wall which
includes a thin layer of peptidoglycan and surrounding that is an outer lipid membrane that does not
contain the Gram strain. Yet at the same time while Kanamycin was the most effective the
Ampicillin and Penicillin had reactions as well. The Ampicillin would kill both Gram positive and
Gram negative so this could indicate that there are Gram negative bacteria in the lawn, but the fact
that the Penicillin worked as well was what was interesting. This means that this bacterial lawn
contains both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Gram positive are bacteria with cell walls
that contain a thick layer of peptiodoglycan that retains the Gram strain. For plate 2, trashcan lid,
only the Kanamcyin worked which indicates that the only bacteria in this lawn are Gram negative,
but if that is true why didn t the Ampicillin work at all? Ampicillin works to kill both positive and
negative grams, but there was no reaction this time. Could it be that it needs more

Upon The Burning Of Our House
Scriptures composed by authors around the world at many different times is how literature came
to be, and seeing how it has shaped and changed over the years is truly astounding. One might
turn towards a writing called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , by Jonathan Edwards to get
a sense of how dark someone can make a piece of text, or maybe a poem called, Upon the Burning
of Our House , by Anne Bradstreet, to see how well words can be put together to contemplate a life
like experience. Jonathan was born in 1703 and was a child prodigy at Yale University, which led
him to become a Puritan minister later in life, which greatly affected his writingstyle. Whereas Anne
Bradstreet was born in 1612 in England and had been brought up well... Show more content on

In the poem Upon the Burning of Our House , Bradstreet displays a kind of depressing mood as
she explains her losses in great detail, but also has a sense of hope, as she thinks of how God has
blessed her throughout her life and how he will continue to do so once she dies and goes to
heaven. In the last stanza of the poem, it reads, A price so vast as is unknown/ Yet by His gift is
made thine own/ There s wealth enough, I need no more/ Farewell, my pelf, farewell my store
/ The world no longer let me love/ My hope and treasure lies above. From reading this part of the
passage and seeing how she words the things that she has lost, it makes the tone very dark,
whereas later on in the stanza, where she explains how her treasures being above, leaving a
spark of hope. In a contrasting story, where Bradstreet leaves a spark of hope, Edwards leaves
nothing behind as he explains the fierceness of God and his lack of mercy. In Edward s writing,
his main focus was to convince the reader(s) that God was a downright cold blooded killer that
wouldn t hesitate to kill anyone. In the middle of the writing, Edwards says, The bow of God s
wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart,
and strains the bow, and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God, and that of an angry God,
without any promise or obligation at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from being made
drunk with your blood. This short quote gives a frightening and very dark mood as he portrays
God to be totally merciless, and caught up in his own power to kill anyone. Seeing how each of
these authors wrote their compositions, it is very clear how they differ in their personality or

Is Liberalism Still Relevant Today
In its simplest design, liberalism is a political ideology that believes in the protection and
enhancement of individual liberty. In the international system, liberalists argue that humans by

may in turn help promote cooperation and cohesion between states. By establishing these rights ,

Within this manifesto of peace , Kant outlined three principals that have today, become one of the
foundations in liberal ideas. Along with Kant, another leading liberal who emerged from the
European Enlightenment was Jeremy Bentham, who argued that between the activities of nations
there is nowhere any real conflict. Furthermore, during the nineteenth century, John Stuart Mill,

Essay on United States Foreign Policy and the War on...
United States Foreign Policy and the War on Terrorism
In very general terms, it could be said that the United States makes foreign policy decisions based
on what we hope are the best interests of its citizens. On the surface, it would appear as if this has
been the case over the past several months, as the U.S. has waged its war against terrorism. If one
were to penetrate this surface, however, they would see that there is much more to this conflict than
meets the eye. Is Operation Enduring Freedom indeed justifiable? Most people would say yes, it is
in our best interests, because our forces are fighting against an injustice, for the purposes of
establishing a peaceful environment and bringing about humanitarian relief, which will ... Show

Unfortunately, this has not been the case in Afghanistan. The United States reacted far too quickly
in declaring the war on terrorism. The Bush administration did not outline clear goals for the war,
and in their haste to fight the cause, and bring justice to the American people, they completely
overlooked the potential impact of their actions on non American citizens.
A major concern regarding the war in Afghanistan is the fact that there may have been more
civilian casualties as a result of bombings than there were in the attacks on the World Trade Center.
The estimates vary widely, but it has been suggested that at least 4000 people have died in
Afghanistan since the bombing campaigns began, although no one can come up with concrete
numbers at this point. Furthermore, this is only one conflict. The same is true regarding the large
number of people who have died in Iraq in the last decade, whether it was due to bombings, or
because they suffered as a result of economic sanctions imposed by the United States. These killings
are reprehensible, and, as Kathryn Sikkink, a political science professor at the University of
Minnesota claims, ?military methods that inevitably lead to significant civilian deaths are
inconsistent with a human rights approach, regardless of the intentions of the planners (SSRC).?

The Two Theorists Of Working With Others
Learning as a group consisted of working with others but also figuring out how to work with
others. A person needs to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of their group to properly
understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the members in the group are not able to
work together and argue for the majority of the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of
having to deal with this task of having to discover which methods would work in order to work
with others well and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that
groups work together well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused and rarely
questioning other people s ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is helpful to have everyone
brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible themes or ideas directed towards the
project, it makes everyone feel involved in the process of completing the project and no one is left
out. In reading different theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was altered. The two
theorists in which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris theory
emphasized that people that were learninghad different backgrounds that affected their ability to
learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions, External Conditions all
determined how people learned and how they applied the knowledgethat they had. The Basis
consists of the biology, psychology, and social science of the

A Wireless Sensor Network ( Wsn )
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous
sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration,
pressure, humidity, motion or pollutants and to cooperatively pass their data through the network
to a main location. The WSN is built of nodes from a few to several hundreds or even thousands,
where each node is connected to one (or sometimes several) sensors. Each such sensor network
node has typically several parts: a radio transceiver with an internal antenna or connection to an
external antenna, a microcontroller, an electronic circuit for interfacing with the sensors and an
energy source, usually a battery or an embedded form of energy harvesting [23].
Fig. 1.1 : Multi hop wireless sensor network
1.1 Event Driven Mechanism for WSN
In event driven wireless sensor network, instead of sending periodic observation when an event of
interest occurs, the sensing node also sends the messages additionally for reporting an event. In this
context, it can be explicitly specified that not all the sensing nodes need to report an event.
Theoretically, sending messages by all the nodes whenever an event occurs will result in integrity
of data, but in real time scenario, it becomes tricky as it results in redundancy and overload of
information, that in turn results in depletion of energy and thus, the lifetime of the sensor node gets
reduced. In wireless sensor

Similarities Between Bible And Enuma Elish
The New International Version (NIV) Bible from the Hebrew religion and the Enuma Elish
poem from the Babylonian religion, tell two different ways of how the universe was created. The
Bible is more specific and gives a step by step account for the creation of the universe. However,
the Enuma Elish is vague and does not include details on how they believe the universe was
created. The only similarity between the Babylonian and Hebrew account for the creation of man is
that both religions state a godcreated the universe.
The New International Version (NIV) Bible, specifically states in the book of Genesis that God
created the universe by stating, Let there be... and there was. It is written that God said, Let
there be light and there was light. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:3) God said, Let there be a vault
between the waters to separate water from water and there was a vault. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:6)
God continued to speak commands for a total of six days until the universe and everything in it
was created. On the other hand, the poem Enuma Elish states that Marduk, the creator god, kills
Tiamat, a primordial goddess of the ocean, and from her body fashions the world. (The Norton
Anthology, pg. 34) Next, Marduk creates the netherworld which is a mythic place of ... Show more

the outpatient screening. While very rare, there are a few possible complications that can occur
as a result of having a polyp removed. These are usually minor, and can often be corrected during

Final Recommendation: The best path to follow would be to implement all three options.
Hardee Freight Transportation needs to make changes to current network delivery routes in
order to reduce bobtailing to shipper s location and increase paddle time. Coordinating with
shippers to reduce upload and download will benefit both Hardee and its customers.
Implementation: To implement the previous options, Hardee will have to make an assessment

location and increase paddle time. Hardee s sales personnel will have to work closely with
shippers in order to reduce loading and uploading time, more specifically, set a certain amount of
time allotted for this operation. Also, Hardee should set a detention charge if the shipper fails to
meet the allotted time for loading and unloading trucks. Finally, Hardee could offer a lower rate as

Negative Effects Of Overfishing
Many people tend to not realize what goes on with the everyday life with oceans. Not just what
occurs in the oceans, but what humans are doing to the oceans. One of the multiple negative
impacts that humans have to the oceans include overfishing. Everyday, fish are caught by the
hundreds because of humans, which plays a major impact on marine life. As the the days, months,
and years go by, marine life within the oceans becomes less healthy due to overfishing by humans.
Overfishing has been occurring for decades and if it continues to happen at such a great rate, fishin
the ocean will become endangered or even extinct. Close to 90 percent of the world s marine fish

Without fish being a choice of food, more demand will be needed for different types of food and
will cause an impact. One of the many marine life animals that gets overfished today are sharks.
If sharks keep getting overfished, the entire marine food chain will become greatly affected.
Humans continuously eliminate sharks, which are the leading predators of the oceans, at a such
fast rate and will cause a trophic cascade. A trophic cascade is when the top predators in any
system are being eliminating. Due to the fact that sharks are being killed constantly, its prey are
growing rapidly in population and offsetting marine life (Irish Times). Sharks are very important
within the ocean and are a big part of the ecosystem. Without them, the ecosystem would become
very unbalanced which will happen if overfishing the sharks continues. Not only are sharks being
overfished, but scallops and other shellfish are too. The result of this leads to water quality
suffering (Irish Times). With bad water quality, it makes it harder for all types of marine life to
live their day to day life at full potential health. With humans constantly overfishing, it leads to fish
being either threatened, endangered, or even extinct. Certain species are actually rare now due to
overfishing (Hanson Harding). The fish are not getting the proper amount of time that they need in
order to grow and have babies before they get caught. Not only are that certain kind of

The Cold War Between America And The Soviet Union Between...
In studying International Relations, I have realized that, the nature of International politics can be
likened to anarchy. This is because in International relations there seems to be no supreme or
overriding authority which establishes and maintains rules or laws in international affairs. All
States appear to behave in their own interests.
A typical case of study is the Cold War. From my understanding, the Cold War describes the
relationship between America and the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1980. During this period,
neither sides ever fought each other directly, but indirectly they influenced other countries through
their ideologies (i.e. America s democracy and Russia s communism) to war. For example, America
supplied weapons to South Vietnam (anti communist) to war with North Vietnam (pro communist),
who were also supported and supplied weapons by China/Russia. Also with Afghanistan,
Americans helped them after the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 by supplying them with weapons
to war, without physically involving themselves. This portrays that, in the absence of a supreme
power to regulate law in International relations, the system will not be able to provide any public
good, in this case, PEACE among states. However, to some extent they do. To achieve this peace,
both realists and liberals have outlined various factors that facilitate this provision among States.
For liberals, peace among states can be achieved through economic cooperation, democratic peace

Some of the students who had already signed that deal got to keep the $2000 stipend yet others

Discrimination In The Movie The Help
Within the movie The Help there are a variety of major issues represented, most directly the
discrimination that existed in the 1960s. The movie itself follows the journey of a white, budding
journalist and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, during the Civil Rights
Movement in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi. To start off her career as a journalist she decides to write
a book, titled The Help, recounting the experiences of the black maids in her town to help expose

Within the movie there s a continued feeling of helplessness with the black maids, with how
desperate their situations seem to be. But, that all changes when Skeeter decides to start writing
about the hardships that they have. All of a sudden everything seems to be a little lighter, more
hopeful as soon a Skeeter is implemented into the movie. Although it may be historically
accurate at the time that there weren t many black journalists, the black maids at the very least
could ve written their story themselves and perhaps taken a more forward and progressive role
to reveal the discrimination that they faced. But, in the movie the black maids do nothing until
Skeeter arrives. An example of this happens in the movie where there was no one was willing to
talk about their own problems until Skeeter started asking around. Although this would have
been accurate for the time period for the movie as they would have been scared of the
repercussions, it gives a sense of helplessness for the black community. Some people would ve
for sure started to talk and write about ehr own problems especially at the time period that the
movie was taking place with Martin Luther King and his civil rights march. This was the time
period of major change in the U.S.A especially for black communities since they finally had a
voice. Furthermore, once Skeeter finished writing her book it seemed as if everyone instantly
started to read the book and started treated black maids better. Perhaps it time it would result in

A Report On Sustainable Biofuels
Executive Summary
With the goal of achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020 the aviation industry views sustainable
biofuels as its tool to reach that goal. The major aircraft manufacturers are leaders in the research
effort, utilizing their resources to fund and facilitate early tests with biofuels. While a core group
of airlines using a very limited supply of biofuel is testing the commercial viability of biofuels
across diverse networks.
Ethanol, made from corn, is part of the first generation biofuels, which are cheaper but have a
larger impact on food supply. The price of ethanol is higher than the current gas prices when factors
like transportation and labour are taken into account. However, airlines may find this type of biofuel

The usage of land originally dedicated to agriculture has not only created food shortages, but also
caused an increase in food prices. Furthermore, there is not enough land capacity to satisfy the
demand of the biofuel industry.
Biofuel is an ideal solution and the successes seen by aircraft manufacturers and airlines are small
steps of progress towards full implementation. However, given the limitations in land capacity, the
debate of fuel versus food, the current technological developments, high prices and lack of
government support, this solution is neither economical nor sustainable.

Future of Alternative Fuels for Air Travel Introduction
Rise of Biofuels
With the airline industry committed to achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020, the introduction
of sustainably produced biofuels is a key strategy for achieving this goal. It was a multi year
process that required collaboration between aircraft makers, engine manufacturers and oil
companies, with the first demonstration flight in 2008. In 2011 biofuels were approved for
commercial flight use. Since that time there has been thousands of flights fuelled with sustainable
biofuels, here are a few milestones;
February 2008
First demonstration flight powered with biofuel, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing747 with one engine
powered with a 20% biofuel mix flew from London to Amsterdam.
June 2011

The Effects Of Net Neutrality
Net neutrality has been around for quite some time but it was up until now when that us internet
users really pay attention to it because our President Donald Trump wants to pass a new net
neutrality rule/bill that makes people pay to use apps that were meant to be free like Facebook and
Twitter that millions use. June 2003 Tim Wu coins the phrase network neutralitywhich was later
shortened to net neutrality . (Tim Wu) According to this quote net neutrality has been around since
the summer of 2003 but didn t really take any effect until February 2004 when the U.S. Federal
Communications Commissionintroduced four principles of network freedom . (ProQuest Staff) now
therefore net neutrality did not affect communities until February of 2004.

Comparing Sexuality in Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage...
Sexuality of the Frontierswoman in Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage and Doctorow s Welcome to
Hard Times
The presentation of femininity in Doctorow s Welcome to Hard Times is a strong departure from
the heroine of Zane Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage. Through the metaphor of the gun as the
embodiment of masculinity, both authors closely examine the complexities of the sexualized
relationship of a frontierswoman to the men of her society. Doctorow mirrors the tensions present
in Grey s novel though Molly acts as an extraordinarily different vision of what the West required
of a woman than Jane Withersteen. Both novels reach a sexual climax as the heroine engages the
men of her society in a violent action of blood and birth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The book opens with the failure of Blue s manhood. He, bearing the title of Mayor, failed to
have both the courage and the skill to protect the town, especially the women, from the Bad
Man. Molly mocks his failure even as she watches Blue fill the cylinders of [his] gun : Christ that
Bad Man s the only man in town!...I can t believe it...using a lady, for Godsake, marching brave
behind a lady s skirts (Doctorow 16). This moment, with Blue symbolically taking up his manhood
and with Molly simultaneously deriding his status as a man, encompasses much of the tension
between the failed masculinity of the citizens of Hard Times and their feminine counterparts.
Ultimately, Blue s gun fails him and he is saved from the Bad Man s superior skill and
ruthlessness only by Molly s struggling and pulling (19).
Doctorow s portrayal of failed masculinity as the founding sin of Hard Times contrasts strongly
with the more traditional Western. Zane Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage is a close parallel in many
ways to the opening of Welcome to Hard Times. The scene opens with the Bad Man of the piece,
Tull, preparing to whip Venters. Venters failure to defend himself comes as a result of
surrendering his guns to Jane s safekeeping. This symbolic castration leaves him at the mercy of
the other men, and leaving him behind a lady s skirts (Doctorow 16). Jane risks herself and places
herself in the enmity of the community by defending

The Benefits Of Banning Books
Writer and activist, Peter Montgomery once wrote about the right to read as, A celebration of the
diverse range of ideas found in books, and our right as citizens to make our own intellectual
choices. Having the right to read any type of book without the worry of being caught creates a
feeling of control and freedom for the person. Bookbanning not only chains people up, but
encloses their learning perspective and point of view of the world and what is going on in it. It
also has the ability to restrain adults and children of all ages and gender from enjoying a wonderful
book that they might enjoy! Although some books contain mature content they should not be
banned; this is because people might enjoy reading them, it teaches peers about the real world, and
it gives people the freedom to read whatever they want.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, students and colleagues are able to learn the principles of manners such as kindness
and politeness through the characters they re reading about. They are also able to learn about
political views, historical events, world religions, LGBTQ community, racism, and sexism. This is
fundamental in order to accept the people around the world, and to be prepared for what comes

the right choices by censoring books, but instead they are denying them the access to the materials
they need. Books give the ability to expand the mindset of any person so that they are prepared and

A Brief Note On The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund ( Vvmf )
A war memorial is any physical object created, erected or installed to commemorate those
involved in or affected by a war or conflict. These memorials are important because they act as
historical touchstones. They link the past to the present and enable people to remember and respect
the sacrifice of those who died, fought, participated or were affected by conflict. American
casualties in Vietnam began in 1959 and ended with the evacuation of Saigon in 1975. Never
officially designated a war, the Vietnam conflict became increasingly unpopular as casualties and
news coverage of the fighting increased. Those people who served in Vietnam returned to an
unsupportive nation and a media that emphasized the social problems of its veterans. There were
few attempts to honor Vietnam veterans until 1978, when an insignificant and ambiguous plaque
was placed behind the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ( Visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
).
One year later, Jan Scruggs (a wounded Vietnam veteran) founded the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Fund (VVMF), which sought private funds from both war supporters and opponents to build a
memorial honoring the veterans but not the conflict. Honoring the men and women who served in
the controversial Vietnam War, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial chronologically lists the names of
more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to their country ( Veterans Memorial
Rededicated As 42 More Names Are Added ). The Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the

This strategy will lead you to a next platform and increase the growth. It is important to have
collaboration with third parties and promote the business to next level in order to be in the top
markets. This will also help you build a good reputation and increase awareness among the people.
Opportunities also exist for Edible Arrangements to continue to expand into a younger demographic
market segment. As noted in the previous section, North American youth are becoming increasingly
health conscious and paying closer attention to the nutritional content of their food more than ever
before. Edible Arrangements should remain highly active on social media sites, and maintain their
innovative, fresh and colourful promotional campaigns to keep expanding their brand awareness
and tapping into different market segments, particularly young adults and teenagers. And
concluding on the threats caused to edible arrangements, Competition is regarded as one of the
major threats to edible arrangements. There will also be new competitors and they will tend to
copy the ideas of products and try to dominate the existing competitors. There will be price
variance on the products and hence the customers will look onto this factor as well. Since edible
arrangements have high standard of quality it will remain a difficult competitor in maintaining
good quality and also compete with the low cost competitors. There will be a threat to study the
variance in the

  • 2. Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock Essay The song Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock tells how America needs more soldiers to fight a war that s nowhere near American soil for a reason that is not well known to the american soldier. Country Joe is basically saying that the soldiers do not know what they are fighting for and frankly don t give a damn, all they know is that they have been drafted for a war they do not approve of. Many people of this time made protest songs against the war and some of the songs leave more to the imagination than other songs such as the Anti VietnamWar song. The largest Anti Vietnam conference was held on November 15, 1969, and was hosted by the Vietnam Moratorium. This convention is believed to be the biggest anti war conference ever in american history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Salem Witch Trials And The Witch Trial Essay From 1692 to 1693, twenty people were executed after being accused of witchcraft in Salem Village, Massachusetts, many more died in jail, and around 200 people total were accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. Records from the event indicate that the Salem Witch Trials started when a group of young girls began acting strange, claiming they had been possessed by the Devil and bewitched by local villagers. The SalemWitch Trials is a much debated event; historians argue over the motivation and causes behind the trials and executions, not over the proceedings. Each historian approached the Salem Witch Trials with their own brand of logic and interpretation building off of and criticizing the interpretations of their predecessors. No one historical theory can conclusively explain the cause of the Salem Witch Trials because there were too many variables and motivations among the villagers. These historians used the best of their abilities to examine the events of the Salem Witch Trials and the mere fact that there are so many interpretations means there are not certainties when it comes to this historical event. However, a combination of their theories could provide a better picture of the Salem Witch story and the many aspects in determining the outcome of the Salem Witch Trials. Charles W. They believe that the moose is docile, so they begin to treat him like an old, tolerant collie but at the end, they are reminded of his incredible power. I say inspired because the overall plot of the movie is so different from the book, that John Irving had to ask the director to change the names of the characters and other characteristics of the story. Even though the movie is supposed to be somewhat different from the book, the director was not able to portray many recurring themes of the novel that many readers, including myself, enjoyed. Therefore, I believe that it is a good movie, but for the people that have never read the book. Like I said before, there are major differences between these two. One might turn towards a writing called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , by Jonathan Edwards to get a sense of how dark someone can make a piece of text, or maybe a poem called, Upon the Burning of Our House , by Anne Bradstreet, to see how well words can be put together to contemplate a life like experience. In the last stanza of the poem, it reads, A price so vast as is unknown/ Yet by His gift is made thine own/ There s wealth enough, I need no more/ Farewell, my pelf, farewell my store / The world no longer let me love/ My hope and treasure lies above. From reading this part of the passage and seeing how she words the things that she has lost, it makes the tone very dark, whereas later on in the stanza, where she explains how her treasures being above, leaving a spark of hope. In a contrasting story, where Bradstreet leaves a spark of hope, Edwards leaves nothing behind as he explains the fierceness of God and his lack of mercy. In Edward s writing, his main focus was to convince the reader(s) that God was a downright cold blooded killer that wouldn t hesitate to kill anyone. In the middle of the writing, Edwards says, The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart, and strains the bow, and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God, and that of an angry God, without any promise or obligation at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with your blood. Furthermore, during the nineteenth century, John Stuart Mill, argued that government was a necessary evil . In his Book, On Liberty (1849), Mill defines liberty being capital in ensuring successive advance, both of society and the individual. Lastly, the works of Michael Doyle is his theory on democratic peace. The basic hypothesis of this theory is that, as states become more democratic, they become more peacefully inclined (J. Pettiford 2010: 32). Recognizable to Kant s position on peace and the foundation of equitable international system, is Francis Fukuyama s The End of History and the Last man. In the book, Fukuyama argues, that at the end of the twentieth century, the combination of liberal democracy and capitalism has proved to be superior to any alternative political/economic system, and the reason lies in its ability to satisfy the basic drives of human nature (M. Griffiths 1999: 83). Prior to the creation of the League of Nations, President Woodrow Wilson (1918) introduced 14 Points, introducing a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

United States Foreign Policy and the War on Terrorism In very general terms, it could be said that the United States makes foreign policy decisions based on what we hope are the best interests of its citizens. If one were to penetrate this surface, however, they would see that there is much more to this conflict than meets the eye. Is Operation Enduring Freedom indeed justifiable? The Bush administration did not outline clear goals for the war, and in their haste to fight the cause, and bring justice to the American people, they completely overlooked the potential impact of their actions on non American citizens. A major concern regarding the war in Afghanistan is the fact that there may have been more civilian casualties as a result of bombings than there were in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The estimates vary widely, but it has been suggested that at least 4000 people have died in Afghanistan since the bombing campaigns began, although no one can come up with concrete numbers at this point. Furthermore, this is only one conflict. The same is true regarding the large number of people who have died in Iraq in the last decade, whether it was due to bombings, or because they suffered as a result of economic sanctions imposed by the United States. • 24. The Two Theorists Of Working With Others Learning as a group consisted of working with others but also figuring out how to work with others. A person needs to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of their group to properly understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the members in the group are not able to work together and argue for the majority of the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of having to deal with this task of having to discover which methods would work in order to work with others well and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that groups work together well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused and rarely questioning other people s ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is helpful to have everyone brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible themes or ideas directed towards the project, it makes everyone feel involved in the process of completing the project and no one is left out. In reading different theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was altered. The two theorists in which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris theory emphasized that people that were learninghad different backgrounds that affected their ability to learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions, External Conditions all determined how people learned and how they applied the knowledgethat they had. The WSN is built of nodes from a few to several hundreds or even thousands, where each node is connected to one (or sometimes several) sensors. Each such sensor network node has typically several parts: a radio transceiver with an internal antenna or connection to an external antenna, a microcontroller, an electronic circuit for interfacing with the sensors and an energy source, usually a battery or an embedded form of energy harvesting [23]. Fig. 1.1 : Multi hop wireless sensor network 1.1 Event Driven Mechanism for WSN In event driven wireless sensor network, instead of sending periodic observation when an event of interest occurs, the sensing node also sends the messages additionally for reporting an event. In this context, it can be explicitly specified that not all the sensing nodes need to report an event. Theoretically, sending messages by all the nodes whenever an event occurs will result in integrity of data, but in real time scenario, it becomes tricky as it results in redundancy and overload of information, that in turn results in depletion of energy and thus, the lifetime of the sensor node gets reduced. • 38. The Cold War Between America And The Soviet Union Between... In studying International Relations, I have realized that, the nature of International politics can be likened to anarchy. This is because in International relations there seems to be no supreme or overriding authority which establishes and maintains rules or laws in international affairs. All States appear to behave in their own interests. A typical case of study is the Cold War. From my understanding, the Cold War describes the relationship between America and the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1980. During this period, neither sides ever fought each other directly, but indirectly they influenced other countries through their ideologies (i.e. America s democracy and Russia s communism) to war. For example, America supplied weapons to South Vietnam (anti communist) to war with North Vietnam (pro communist), who were also supported and supplied weapons by China/Russia. Also with Afghanistan, Americans helped them after the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 by supplying them with weapons to war, without physically involving themselves. This portrays that, in the absence of a supreme power to regulate law in International relations, the system will not be able to provide any public good, in this case, PEACE among states. However, to some extent they do. To achieve this peace, both realists and liberals have outlined various factors that facilitate this provision among States. However, given the limitations in land capacity, the debate of fuel versus food, the current technological developments, high prices and lack of government support, this solution is neither economical nor sustainable. 3 Future of Alternative Fuels for Air Travel Introduction Rise of Biofuels With the airline industry committed to achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020, the introduction of sustainably produced biofuels is a key strategy for achieving this goal. It was a multi year process that required collaboration between aircraft makers, engine manufacturers and oil companies, with the first demonstration flight in 2008. In 2011 biofuels were approved for commercial flight use. Since that time there has been thousands of flights fuelled with sustainable biofuels, here are a few milestones; February 2008 First demonstration flight powered with biofuel, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing747 with one engine powered with a 20% biofuel mix flew from London to Amsterdam. • 45. Comparing Sexuality in Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage... Sexuality of the Frontierswoman in Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage and Doctorow s Welcome to Hard Times The presentation of femininity in Doctorow s Welcome to Hard Times is a strong departure from the heroine of Zane Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage. Through the metaphor of the gun as the embodiment of masculinity, both authors closely examine the complexities of the sexualized relationship of a frontierswoman to the men of her society. Doctorow mirrors the tensions present in Grey s novel though Molly acts as an extraordinarily different vision of what the West required of a woman than Jane Withersteen. Both novels reach a sexual climax as the heroine engages the men of her society in a violent action of blood and birth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The book opens with the failure of Blue s manhood. He, bearing the title of Mayor, failed to have both the courage and the skill to protect the town, especially the women, from the Bad Man. Molly mocks his failure even as she watches Blue fill the cylinders of [his] gun : Christ that Bad Man s the only man in town!...I can t believe it...using a lady, for Godsake, marching brave behind a lady s skirts (Doctorow 16). This moment, with Blue symbolically taking up his manhood and with Molly simultaneously deriding his status as a man, encompasses much of the tension between the failed masculinity of the citizens of Hard Times and their feminine counterparts. Ultimately, Blue s gun fails him and he is saved from the Bad Man s superior skill and ruthlessness only by Molly s struggling and pulling (19). Doctorow s portrayal of failed masculinity as the founding sin of Hard Times contrasts strongly with the more traditional Western. Zane Grey s Riders of the Purple Sage is a close parallel in many ways to the opening of Welcome to Hard Times. The scene opens with the Bad Man of the piece, Tull, preparing to whip Venters. Venters failure to defend himself comes as a result of surrendering his guns to Jane s safekeeping. This symbolic castration leaves him at the mercy of the other men, and leaving him behind a lady s skirts (Doctorow 16). Jane risks herself and places herself in the enmity of the community by defending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Benefits Of Banning Books Writer and activist, Peter Montgomery once wrote about the right to read as, A celebration of the diverse range of ideas found in books, and our right as citizens to make our own intellectual choices. Having the right to read any type of book without the worry of being caught creates a feeling of control and freedom for the person. Bookbanning not only chains people up, but encloses their learning perspective and point of view of the world and what is going on in it. It also has the ability to restrain adults and children of all ages and gender from enjoying a wonderful book that they might enjoy! Although some books contain mature content they should not be banned; this is because people might enjoy reading them, it teaches peers about the real world, and it gives people the freedom to read whatever they want.... • 47. A Brief Note On The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund ( Vvmf ) A war memorial is any physical object created, erected or installed to commemorate those involved in or affected by a war or conflict. These memorials are important because they act as historical touchstones. They link the past to the present and enable people to remember and respect the sacrifice of those who died, fought, participated or were affected by conflict. American casualties in Vietnam began in 1959 and ended with the evacuation of Saigon in 1975. Never officially designated a war, the Vietnam conflict became increasingly unpopular as casualties and news coverage of the fighting increased. Those people who served in Vietnam returned to an unsupportive nation and a media that emphasized the social problems of its veterans. There were few attempts to honor Vietnam veterans until 1978, when an insignificant and ambiguous plaque was placed behind the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ( Visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial ). One year later, Jan Scruggs (a wounded Vietnam veteran) founded the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), which sought private funds from both war supporters and opponents to build a memorial honoring the veterans but not the conflict. Honoring the men and women who served in the controversial Vietnam War, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial chronologically lists the names of more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to their country ( Veterans Memorial Rededicated As 42 More Names Are Added ).
