Americans Attitude Change in the 60 s
Question 1: For many Americans, the 1960s began with JFK s Age of Camelot, an era that seemed to
exude confidence in American institutions. Yet, by the early 1970s, those expectations and attitudes
seemed to be replaced by a sense of bitterness and cynicism. Discuss and analyze the causes and
consequences of this profound attitudinal shift. Question 3: How did official US policy towards
Vietnam change between 1950 and 1975? How did American leaders link events in Vietnam to
national security interests? How did the American public react to the war in the sixties and early
seventies? Answer: These two questions are so intertwined with one another that combining the two
answers is the most efficient way of telling the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What seems to have begun the turning of the tide for Americans perception of government is what
comes next. In November of 1963, JFK was assassinated in Dallas. In one explosive moment, Camelot
came crashing down and died with Kennedy. America was shocked, and events such as Jackie s
witness to Johnson s swearing in, all while continuing to wear the blood and brain speckled suit,
further personified the event. Johnson was not as liked as a president. He had somewhat of a
personality complex. He always wished to be viewed as powerful. He was a tall Texan, and his
professed arrogance was pushed on all who contacted him. For example, he had a powered chair lift
installed in Air Force One so that he could raise himself inches above the people he was talking with.
Johnson had always been a strong legislator, and he brought these talents to the white house. He
pushed for social issues. He was successful in passing the Civil Rights Act in 1964, followed by the
Voting Rights Act shortly later. In November of 64, Americans elected Johnson in a landslide. All of
America except for the Deep South seemed to like what he had to say about social issues. Johnson s
own presidency shadows the divide of America. Johnson was brought into the continuing expansion of
troubles in Vietnam. Kennedy had supported the South Vietnamese democratic intentions, but shortly
before his own

Difference Between Shakespeare And Romeo And Juliet
Although Ovid and William Shakespeare were born in very different time periods, they share quite
similar stories of love and tragedy in their popular works Pyramus and Thisbe and The Tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet. Ovid first created his story, Pyramus and Thisbe , about the romance between two
separated lovers. Then, years later, Shakespeare wrote his play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,
which shows many signs of influence from Ovid. The stories also share various archetypes that shape
their tales. For example, the works both contain classical romances with an ending full of tragedy.
Also, there are many guiding factors that are the same, such as the communication between the lovers,
their misunderstanding, and the inevitable outcome of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the stories, there is a looming factor that is changed by the tragic ending, the feud and the
mulberry tree. In Pyramus and Thisbe , the snow white mulberries, that are mentioned in the
exposition, change to a dark red after the warm blood of the two lovers splatters upon the fruit.
According to the text in Pyramus and Thisbe , The blood spurted up over the berries and dyed them a
dark red (948). Later in the story, Ovid states, The gods were pitiful at the end, and the lover s parents
too. The deep red fruit of the mulberry is the everlasting memorial of these true lovers (949). In both
tales, the change is carried from beginning to end, as the tone of the story also changes. The berries
from the mulberry tree represent the change in worlds of the characters. Similarly, the horrible feud
that begins the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet ends once the a pair of star crossed lovers take their
life. The Prince of Verona states at the end of the woeful play, See what a scourge is laid upon your
hate, / That heaven finds a means to kill your joys with love (5.3.292 293). The heartbroken families
of the two victims of tragic love decide to put away their differences and come together and shared the
love of their children. Once the two couples in each work end their lives, a significant symbol also

Analysis Of Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy
To experience feelings of delight and bliss individuals must also face difficult times to help them
better recognize and appreciate their future happiness. Without experiencing sadness and heartbreak
people would be significantly less appreciative of their future lovers and self. To fully feel what love
is, you must have experienced loss because without feeling how painful the flip side of situation is
there would be no way of feeling anything at all, which would drive everyone to be completely numb.
Throughout the following poems Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? , My mistress eyes are
nothing like the sun , The Flea , and Thomas Hardy s Neutral Tones the authors all share their
experiences about love, with a major emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem from 1633 entitled The Flea by John Donne s shines a light on a man trying to persuade a
woman into being intimate with him, but the female struck him down through her strong sense of self.
Although a main focus of this poem is the hardships of two people having different intentions in a
relationship, the female also manages to show a significant amount of self love. Too often people try
to focus on each others needs rather than their own, which can backfire and lead to someone being in
an uncomfortable situation. But when she struck down the fly she also struck down his argument that
they needed to become intimate hence showing a strong sense of self worth. Rather than giving into
the man s wishes she sticks to her personal boundaries and morals which shows the readers a great
example of self love and standing up for yourself.
In Shakespeare s poem My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun published in 1609, he successfully
expresses a few more difficulties of love through a humorous tone. Women are too often held to high
beauty standards which Shakespeare strikes down by helping the readers realize that beauty is in the
eye of the beholder and that nature should not be compared to women in the first place. By making
multiple comparisons between his lover and nature Shakespeare focuses on being honest and having
realistic standards for his

Shaping Australia s Identity Research Paper
Inquiry Question 1 The discovery of gold changed the nature of Australia more than any other event
before or since socially, economically, environmentally and socially. The gold rushes of the 1850 s had
a significant impact on shaping Australia s identity. The gold rushes had a great impact on society. The
indigenous people were pushed out of their own territory because the English needed more land to dig
for gold in. Dance and the circus became forms of entertainment on the goldfields; the miners take a
break from work by going to see dances and the circuses. Children did not have to go to school; some
even sell chocolates to make money on the goldfields. The effect that the gold rush had on the
economy was making more people come to Melbourne,

Gender Inequality In Third World Countries
All individuals should be born equal and are entitled to all their fundamental rights and freedoms.
Women do not have the opportunity to have an education due to the lack of belief in the value of
education for women in. In addition to that, women have certain regulations and laws to abide by
regarding legal and political rights. Furthermore, there is the problem of gender inequality in the
workplace for women as they face discrimination. Women face injustice to be considered equal to men
in third world countries.
The majority of girls who aren t in school in developing countries face social or family barriers.
Women can aid in the development of their country when educated. By educating women for a year,
there is a 10 20 per cent increase in [their] wages later in life. Academic studies find the return to a
year of secondary education is even higher in the 15 25 per cent range ( Promoting Gender Equality
through UNICEF Supported Programming in Basic Education ). The individual and the economy
improves as educated women are healthier, provide a higher quality of health care and a better way of
life. Education can elevate women to have more income to support themselves and their family.
Consequently, child marriage causes a violation of human rights of the opportunity for girls to have an

The Hysterectomy Of Abortion
A hysterectomy is when an abortionist permanently removes the entire uterus and the baby with the
intent to kill the baby. Third trimester abortions are the same procedures as those performed in the
second trimester, but the United States only allows abortions after twenty four for medical reasons.
Abortion is one of the most controversial debate in the world today. The reason that this is such a hard
topic to solve is because of one simple question. When does life begin? The answer to that question
would end the debate of whether abortion should be considered murder or not. Viability is currently
the legal determining factor of when life begins. However, a baby shows signs of life even before it is
viable outside of the womb.
At five weeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins at five weeks. If a baby is killed after five weeks, it should be considered murder. When
someone is shot and their heart never stops beating, it is called attempted murder, but if the victim s
heart stops beating, it is classified as a homicide. When a woman decides to abort her child after five
weeks, she is stopping the heart of a human being. Abortionists argue that even if a baby has a
heartbeat, it could not live outside of the womb until it is around twenty five weeks, therefore it is not
murder to kill someone that would not survive anyway. That is the same as killing someone who is
terminally ill just because they are not going to survive. A four year old also cannot live on his own
without a safe environment and nutrients, just as a baby cannot survive without the safety and
nutrition of the mother s womb. Does that mean it is okay to kill a four year old too? Abortion will
always be a debatable topic, so listen to your heart, the one that has been beating inside of you since
you were five weeks old, because it will help you make the right

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sharing System
The development situation of sharing system
Sharing system ,which was a brand new concept appeard in 2015 has already become a fashionable
life style. Most people, especially those in first tier cities may have an intensive feeling that sharing
system brings too much conveniece and low cost for their daily life, such as shared
bicycles.Besides, not only shared bicycles, but some other forms has begun to arise. For
example, because of the difficuty for finding a fixed parking lot and the high cost of parking cars,an
application named Searching for Parking Spaces or in Chinese Zhao Che Wei was developed by a
science and technology compony, this APP can help people find a shareable parking space by
inputting one s cellphone number, driving license number and how much time they need.In addition,

It s not just a simple economy form, but a different public service methed for the high degree of
participation and social influence. The precondition of sharing system is the disadvantages of
traditional vehicles. For example, driving is a common way people choose to travel, but as a matter of
fact, traffic jam and road accidents are become two mean reasons that people refuse to use cars. So for
these people, shared bicycles are the best choices. Secondly, the sharing economy depends on Internet
techonology which has a high speed development because all of the sharing products, such like
bicycles and umbrellas are managed uniformly by Internet. What s more, the sharing system reflects
that Chinese people, especially the young generation are more creative. Dai Wei,the originator of the

The Iraqi Intrusion Of Kuwait On Second Of August 1990
The Iraqi intrusion of Kuwait on second of August 1990, which took the world off guard, was quickly
seen as the first awesome test of the worldwide group s capacity to keep up steadiness in the wake of
the cold war. Saddam Hussein s aggression created alternate oil emergencies, driving up costs. It
tested the late recovery in status of the united countries. What s more it brought up issues about the
preparation of the US and USSR to coordinate with each other, in circumstances which had
connections to Iraq, however Washington was resolved to free Kuwait ( Young Kent 2004). The war

Therefore we cannot really say how much debt Iraq owed. The causes of the Gulf War can actually be
tracked back quite a few years, even a decade before the war started so can be complex to understand.
Below are the causes of the Gulf War (Fitzgerald,2015). The reasons for the Gulf War really began
when Iraq was at war with Iran. Amid this war Iran was assaulting Iraq as well as assaulting oil
tankers from Kuwait adrift as well. To help the closure of the war Kuwait monetarily helped Iraq by
loaning the nation 10 Billion US Dollars. Iraq attempted to persuade Kuwait to break up the obligation
as Iraq had helped Kuwait out by being at war with Iran, Kuwait declined and this created a crack
between the two nations. For a year they attempted to determine the budgetary circumstance however
without much of any result (Fitzgerald, 2015). In the months going before the Iraqi invasion of
Kuwait, Saddam Hussein blamed the Kuwaitis for various criminal acts against the Iraqi people.
These included charges that the Kuwaitis had dependably surpassed their OPEC era principles,
likewise driving down the expense of oil and precluding Iraq from securing earnestly obliged trusts.
Likewise, deliberately stolen oil from Iraq s Rumaila oilfield by pumping oil from the field s southern
tip (which anticipated into Kuwaiti territory); and had sections of Iraqi space (Inbar Bacevich, 2002, p.

Essay on T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land
T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land Both the hysteric and the mystic transgress the linear syntax and logic
governing the established symbolic order. Helen Bennett It is perhaps part of the unique genius of T.S.
Eliot s The Waste Land that both critics and lay readers have repeatedly felt forced to look outside the
published text of the poem for clues as to its meaning. The text s fragmented, seemingly violated body
seems to exhibit wounds through which its significance has slipped, creating a difficulty caused by the
author s having left out something which the reader is used to finding; so that the reader, bewildered,
gropes about for what is absent...a kind of meaning which is not there, and is not meant to be there ...

Asked to describe what sort of life might spring up out of the stony rubbish (20) of the poem s sterile
landscape by an interlocutor who seems by the force of the allusion to Ezekiel to be a representative of
some sort of transcendent reality, there seems to be no way for the poet to answer. The speaker
continues in almost accusatory tone: You cannot say, or guess, for you know only/ A heap of broken
images (21 22), and it is in this line that Eliot questions the potential for meaning inherent in language.
The self is unable to explicate the nature of this life for his only language is a mere heap a disordered
pile of broken images . Here Eliot describes language as representation, and in this mode it is doubly
useless; first, because it is broken , fragmented and divorced from the very realities it was intended to
describe, and second, because it consists of mere images representations of things and not the things
themselves. One might argue that language, though only a heap of broken images, does achieve a
certain reflexivity here, for in that disordered pile of reflections lies a landscape where the sun beats,/
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief (22 23). But the space that language presents
here is a sterile, dead one, without evidence of the growth of either root or branch. Absent too are the
Starnbergersee, the shower of rain (9), and the verdant Hofgarten which

Effective and Ineffective Problem solvers
Good problem solvers have different approaches and characteristic as compared to non problem
solvers (Whimbey, 1982). The characteristics that I possess are:
Accuracy and double checking: As a good problem solver, I am concerned with accuracy. I always
check and recheck, the problem if necessary. I always reread instructions and avoid guessing. In
contrast, a poor problem solver is sloppy and inaccurate. They may misunderstand the problem or the
process of solving it. Most of the time, they lack the slow, step by step approach. (Whimbey,1982.p.7).
Can do attitude: Simply expressed, as an effective problem solver, I see problems as opportunities, a
chance to learn something new, to grow, to succeed where others have failed, or to prove that it can be
done . Underlying this attitude is a deeply held conviction that, with adequate preparation, the right
answer will emerge. Good problem solvers believe that Opportunity is missed by most people because
it is dressed in overalls and looks like work(Thomas Edison). Poor problem solvers will give up at
first chance and are not willing to learn anything new.
There are characteristics that i feel I need to improve. These are:
Dismissal: While I agree I do have some good solving skills, I also tend to dismiss some problems and
leave without solving them. I am however trying to change the dismissal attitude when it comes to
facing some problems. For

The Interrogation Techniques Used By Military Standards
In August of 2002, without consulting Congress, the Bush administration changed the definition of
torture by military standards to allow for previously illegal interrogation techniques. (Inside
Guantanamo) Bush lost a lot of respect from American citizens for doing this on his own instead of
consulting Congress because it added a lot of suspicion that he was trying to hide something. The
Pentagon organized the interrogation techniques into three categories. The first one included yelling
and deception techniques and the second included sensory deprivation, isolation, stress positions,
extensive interrogation, hooding, clothing removal, and the use of phobias. The third and most severe
category included waterboarding and even death threats. (Greenberg 221) Bush wanted justice to be
served to the men who planned and carried out the deaths of thousands of innocent Americans in the
9/11 terrorist attacks. He thought the families of the thousands killed that day deserved that justice.
Soon after, President Bush sent 14 men to Guantanamo Bay so that justice could be served to them by
the military commissions he had proposed. They were to be put under the custody of the CIA where
they would get what Bush thought they deserved and thanks to the Bybee Memo, Bush had complete,
unlimited power when it came to core war matters such as this. While constitutional, the actions of the
Bush administration as he went behind Congress s back and came up with a new definition for torture

The purpose of this paper is to highlight some of the current results of testing of Neanderthal fossils.
By providing a comparison analysis of Homo sapiens to Homo neanderthalensis we can see the
fundamental differences as well as the advances of our evolution. By starting from the macro level and
working toward the micro level we can see how sciences views of these creatures have evolved as

conclusions to old theories. By the end of this scientific journey many readers will find out that
Neanderthals are still alive today living in their genetic code In the Neander Valley near Dusseldorf,
Germany in 1856 a group of quarrymen discovered the remnants of a skeleton. In a limestone cave

The Theme Of Deception In Shakespeare By William...
William Shakespeare conveys the theme, deception, throughout the play to give a moral lesson and to
captivate the audiences. The main theme, deception, can be seen through the structure, dramatic
techniques and the use of language. Deception is the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid
what is false or invalid.
Firstly, Shakespeare uses the structure, for example punctuation, enjambment, sentence length,
caesura and prose, to create the main theme, deception, in the text. This can be seen in When? , As I
descended? and Hark, who lies i th second chamber? The repeated use of punctuation ? makes the
audiences to feel anxiety since it shows that Macbeth worries about his crime and perfection of his
deceiving others. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses connotation Stars, hide your fires, let not light see my black and deep desires to
indicate the theme, deception. The nouns stars and light gives the feelings of innocence and pureness.
On the other hand, the adjectives black and deep gives the feelings of immorality and disloyalty
towards the audiences. The juxtaposition of stars and light with deep and black emphasises his evil
and ambitious desires which are achieved by deceiving King Duncan and other people. Additionally,
stars are far from the earth and light is extremely fast, so we can say that Macbeth recognises the truth
will spread quickly and far away. Therefore, Macbeth deceives others as he does not want that anyone
perceives his wicked desires. A good example of this is ... masking the business from the common eye
for sundry weighty reasons. The use of metaphor masking the business indicates deception. Masking
means concealing or hiding from view and business means a situation or series of events, typically a
scandalous or discreditable one. So, Macbeth hides the truth from other people s view not to be
dishonourable. Continuously, sundry weighty reasons means several heavy reasons. Thereby Macbeth
does not specify the reasons to the murderers by equivocating. So, Macbeth also deceives the
murderers as they do not know the true reason why Macbeth orders them to kill Banquo and his son
Fleance. Moreover, Macbeth manipulates the murderers to make them to seek revenge by putting the
blame on Banquo for their lowly status in life. This makes the audiences to feel despicable and
cunning towards Macbeth s scheme to kill Banquo. In addition, this is clearly shown in black Macbeth
will seem as pure as snow. The colour black signifies death and evilness. The noun snow suggests the
colour white. The effect of colour

A Country Churchyard And The Deserted Village By Oliver...
The poems Elegy Written in A Country Churchyard. by Thomas Gray, and The Deserted Village, by
Oliver Goldsmith, both lament the current state of society in rural areas. Each poem idealizes rural
life, but offers differing ideas of the people of the villages. Gray s poem talks about the unrealized
Miltons and Cromwells of the poor that were able to live their lives honestly, innocently and the free
of temptation faced by the wealthy. Goldsmith talks of the swain and the tradesmen, and the politics
that force to live in famine or leave their lands. In their poems, Gray mourns what the people could

In the city, there is more opportunity for people to be educated, so talents are more easily discovered
and cultivated, just like gems and flowers in well explored territories. In the country, the unexplored
potential of the people leaves room for so much possibility. This goes against the idea that the people
of the more wealthy urban areas are naturally greater than the rural folks, equalizing them through the
life them never had. Gray continues on his evaluation of these unrealized people by saying that they
are actually blessed because Far from the madding crowd s ignoble strife, / Their sober wishes never
learned to stray (Gray 73 74). They are fortunate to be simple country people, never knowing what
they are missing out on and never having to face the temptations that come with being wealthy and
great. These innocents are free from greed that the wealthy suffer from daily. They blessed to be more
pious due to a lack of education outside of the bible. Overall, their hard lives have been well lived, so
they are better off than those with wicked lives of the wealthy. Death is what gives the hope and value
to the rural lives. Whether a person is wealthy or poor, everyone dies eventually. The ornateness of the
resting place is not what matters, but rather where their soul is received after death. In Gray s Epitaph,
the lines Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere, / Heav n did a recompense as largely send: / He

Functions Of The Respiratory System
Functions of the Respiratory System
Introduction
The main purpose of the respiratory system is to exchange oxygen and carbon monoxide between the
body and the environment. Throughout the body are specific organs and structures that make the
respiratory system possible. In humans, respiration takes place in the lungs. In the article by Kim Ann
Zimmermann, Respiratory System: Facts, Function, and Diseases she explains how the series of
organs in a person s body work together to exchange the gases we breathe and distribute it throughout
the rest of the body.
This information is useful for any person wanting to know more about their body, a medical student,
and people in the healthcare field. This report will go over the parts of the respiratory system starting
with the first step in the process to the last step.
Description of Each Part of the Respiratory System
Mouth/Nose The nose and mouth are part of the facial area in humans. The main purpose for both is to
let in and out air. The nose is responsible for a human s sense of smell. The mouth is responsible for
the intake of fo od and water.
Trachea The trachea is a broad membranous tube assisted by rings of cartilage. The main purpose is to
provide air flow to and from the lungs.
Lungs The lungs are two organs located within the rib cage. They consist of elastic sacs with tubes and
airway passages which air is brought in so that carbon dioxide will be removed and the oxygen will go
into the blood.

Slavery Vs Indentured Servants Essay
Slavery and Indentured servitude were vital to the success of the British colonies in several different
ways. The difference between slaves and servants is that slaves were owed for life or until their master
decided to let them leave or they died. Indentured servants were granted freedom, safe passage to the
country and land ownership after working the length of their contract, as previously agreed upon. One
of the main reasons slaves and indentured servants were so vital to the British colonies is that they
were cheap and effective labor. They were able to work in the fields planting, fertilizing, watering and
picking the crop when it was ready to be harvested for consumption or profit. Due to the fast harvests,

due to the fact that they were owned for life and they didn t have to be let go due to their contracts

Americans justified enslaving Africans in several ways. The Americans thought less of them; that they
weren t even human but personal property to do with as they pleased. These views all came in to
account due to their skin color being darker. The American s thought they were evil since they were so
dark complected. That they were stupid and couldn t make their own way in the world. They would
make them work long hours in horrible conditions such as out in field all day in the hot sun without
breaks. Their living conditions were horrible, they weren t allowed medical care and were not fed on a

masters. Many of the slaves died due to malnourishment and disease. The American colonists justified
their actions by viewing that they were taking care of them by providing food, shelter and a means to

The Use Of Motifs In The Bean Trees
Written by Barbara Kingsolver, The Bean Trees contains characters who demonstrate how living
creatures are able to find methods of growing and transforming, despite unusual arrangements or
lifestyle. Throughout the novel, in the chapters The One to Get Away and Dream Angels the use of
motifs are greatly emphasized. Rebirth is one of the two important motifs, as the pattern of life and
death is repeated in the novel. Frequently, this theme is connected with dualities: when one member of
a pair passes, the other gains life force. Newt Hardbine represents as some sort of double for Taylor, in
the chapter The One to Get Away . For example, in school, people could barely tell them different

development of Turtle Greer and her development all through the novel. Bean, (128) Turtle s first

physically wounded woman may flourish if sufficiently given consideration. The bean trees, another
name for the wisteria vine that Turtle spots in Dog Doo Park, symbolize change, a spot of life amidst
infertility. The bean trees have a cooperative association with bugs called rhizobia, which climb up
and down the wisteria vine s roots and give a system that transfer nutrients. This mutual aid
symbolizes the assistance and adoration individuals give each other. The bean trees, similar to
individuals, thrive with a system of support. Taylor s interest with seeds and vegetables is also an

Gregory The Great Accomplishments
For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great s papacy to Boniface VIII s
papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of
history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which brought
prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death.
Throughout the given time period, Pope Nicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope
Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered
for.
First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the
pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were in
charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The
declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of
independence from political structure. This meant that the Roman Church officials did not have to
seek the approval of the King before electing a new pope, while preventing kings from electing
puppets, to do the bidding of the King. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gregory VII was attempting to test the Church s independence by excommunicating those who
participated in lay investiture. At Canossa in 1077, Gregory reigned supreme after Henry was
excommunicated for defying the papacy. Gregory also attacked the corrupt practice of simony, the
buying and selling of church offices, which was in direct confrontation with the College of Cardinals,
a council that he helped to establish. Overall, Gregory s accomplishments include the affirming the
papal primacy and the attempt to destroy the practice of

The Use of Biological Weapons During Combat
The Use of Biological Weapons During Combat The History of Biological Weapons The Ancient Use
Of Biological Warfare The use of living organisms during combat is as old as war itself. The oldest
reference to the use of biological weaponry is seen in the Bible in which, water holes [were] poisoned,
infected corpses [were] fired across enemy lines and diseased prisoners [were] returned to infect their
colleagues (Lele 1). Biowarfare is universal and has been referenced in Ancient Hindu epics like
Ramayana, Mahabharata, which used poison, a toxic pathogen on their enemies (Chauhan 157). From
Rome and even Greek myths the use of biological warfare has been references. The greeks in fact
stated that Hercules dipped his arrow in the monster Hydra s venom after having slayed him creating
probably one of the first biological warfare delivery systems (Chauhan 157). Through various myths
and recorded events humans are able to look back and observe a developing technology. Humans are
consequently able to distinguish the countless tactics which can be used due to the development of
such technology. Medieval Use During the Medieval times little was known in relation to germs,
pathogens, and even basics of disease. They were however able to draw conclusions from various
observations. It was observed that the stretch of rotting bodies [were] known to transmit infections (2)
which led to the conclusion that the corpses [could be] used as ammunition, they were no doubt

British Imperialism in India Essay
Englishmen.. have given the people of India the greatest human blessing peace. (Dutt). Merely coming
to India in the 1600s to trade, the British East India Company established trading outposts. After
ridding of French influence in India during the Seven Years War and having Indians mutiny against
British rule, Britain gained full control of India. India has been under the imperialist control of the
British until their independence in 1947. British imperialism caused some negative effects on India
through poverty and persecution, but retained more of a positive impact due to its massive
improvements in the modernization of India and the overall improvement of Indian civilization.
Despite impacting India very positively, imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way modernization is illustrated in India is through agriculture and industry, notwithstanding
the effects it had on Indians. Industry guided India to a much stronger economy, arguably guiding
them to holding a spot in the top ten economies in the world (O.I). Irrigation cultivated approximately
30 million acres, awarding the country great agricultural wealth. Along with wealth also came a
disappearance of the famines in India. Collectively, the country of India as a whole benefited from this
modernization as it set a higher standard of living for the population. As India s modernization
developed, the entire civilization of India improved remarkably. The country s improvement of
civilization is exemplified through it s establishment of schools and law. Western education was
introduced by Britain and laws were well made with courts that enforce them. (Doc 3). One should
take into account the speaker of this document because Romesh Dutt is an Indian like any other, yet he
praises the British for what they have done to contribute to the development of India. In addition to
these establishments is Britain bringing finer ideals of humanity to India. Infanticide, the killing of
female babies, was brought to a halt as well as participation in the slave trade (Doc 5). Without the
interference of Britain, these inhumane actions would be prevalent throughout India and the country
would suffer from a bad reputation. These

Turner syndrome Essay
There are many possible reasons why a child may grow slowly, including: hereditary factors (short
parents), diseases affecting the kidneys; heart, lungs or intestines; hormone imbalances; severe stress
or emotional deprivation; infections in the womb before birth; bone diseases; and genetic or
chromosomal abnormalities. The Turner Syndrome (known as Ullrich Turner Syndrome in Germany)
is a congenital disease. A German doctor named Ullrich published his article in 1930. American doctor
Henry Turner recognized a pattern of short stature and incomplete sexual maturation in otherwise
normal females. He published a comprehensive medical description of the syndrome. It was not until

If not present at birth, it does not develop later in life. The lack of sexual development at puberty is the
second most common characteristic. Having abnormal chromosomes does not mean that girls with
Turner syndrome are not really female; they are women with a condition that causes short stature and
poorly developed ovaries.
Affected females may also exhibit the following symptoms: infertility, kidney abnormalities, thyroid
disease, heart disease, abnormalities of the eyes and bones, webbed neck, low hairline, drooping of
eyelids, abnormal bone development, absent or retarded development of physical features that
normally appear at puberty, decrease of tears when crying, simian crease (a single crease in the palm),

soft upturned nails, small lower jaw, arms turned out slightly at elbows, shortened 4th fingers, small

those I used the after 5 instruments. My patient was comfortable during the whole procedure, and

Pete Turner Essay
Pete Turner is a famous photographer who was best known for his colored photography.
All of his images combine bold color and graphic design. Turner uses techniques such as using an
intense color palette, geometry, hue and saturation, creating vanishing points, and surrealism.
Turner started taking photos at a young age. He started around 14 years old and used color print and
transparency material. At the start of his career he took pictures when he was drafted into the United

Hue and saturation are major editing techniques Turner utilizes. In the Nikon USA article
Pete Turner: Master of Color Photography, Turner states, I ll work with color levels and curves, hue
and saturation, but not with filters or composite effects. I don t do any photo composition partly
because I don t like the look of it, and also because it s too easy and too many people are doing it. I
don t like to follow the path of what s trendy. Saturated color helps to emphasize the boldness of his
pictures. He also uses saturation to make parts of his picture more or less bold.
Turner does this to make parts of the picture more apparent than others and this creates vanishing
points. Vanishing points are apparent in all of Pete Turners photos. After saturating parts of the image
and editing it with a digital palette, Turner is able to create vanishing points. Some of the vanishing
points he creates a lot are not straight lines. For example, after he makes a blue and green that are next
to each other bold, he then saturates the area where they meet and this makes the line blurred and
appear not straight anymore. He has done this with people too. Turner makes

During the sixteenth century, both the Ottoman and Tokugawa Japanese empires had political and
economic similarities and differences. Politically, these empires were alike because both had

Politically the Ottoman empire and Tokugawa Japanese empire were similar because each of them

of the sultan increased and a centralized administration system was adopted to help maintain order.
The sultan controlled his bureaucracy through an imperial council that met four days a week. The

Emo Culture
In today s society there are many different subculture tendencies amongst young people, they are

such kind of music, that is with a history of many years, transformed in classic for many generations.
But recently one very different from the entire subcultures tendencies phenomenon, called emo style,
especially strongly caused a sensation. It is different not only at the way of clothing, at the type of
music preferences, at the type of behavior, but it is different at the way, it understands the world and
itself. It is one sad subculture to a great degree namely because of the way, it perceives the ambient

The emo tional nature of the subculture youth...
At their nature the emo representatives are extremely sensitive characters. The psychologists define
them as introverts, who don t want to communicate with the ambient world. Because of that they find
a field of manifestation in the poetry. The poems that they write are dark, dispiriting, depressive and
they inspire sadness and nostalgia. In this respect they to a great degree resemble to the Goths. The life
and the pain are basic topics in the poetry of the young creators. The specialists advise the parents to
pay more attention to their subculture person at home, because namely this way of living of the young
people leads to things, for those I ll speak down below in the text and that are incorrigible
In fact this type young people, as all the rest, need love and seek it all the time. Just in the process of

The Unification of Germany Essay
The Unification of Germany
Bismarck
Otto von Bismarck achieved the unification of the disjointed German states through the skillful
understanding of realpolitikand the Machiavellian use of war as a political tool to eliminate Germany s
rival nations, gain the support of the German people and gain territory. This ultimately created a
German legacy of strong militaristic tendencies, scheming national relations, and economic clout
challenging the European heavyweights like England and France. Bismarck s plan for unification
began with his instigation of war with the small German states of Schleswig and Holstein over an
insignificant dispute concerning the governing of the states. Bismarck s ... Show more content on

Using the tools of realpolitik, Bismarck negotiated a settlement of uneasy peace with the division,
which would help to provoke the next war in his course towards unification. Bismarck had also
expanded the influence of the German Confederation with this move as well as gained an important
access to the sea. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn t
be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to his
militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his
militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war.
Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was more
involved. With the two states defeated, Bismarck fought to see them divided between Prussia and
Austria ensuring tensions between the two. The final arrangement was as abrasive as possible, and the
Seven Weeks War, between Prussia and Austria soon followed because of this outcome. Bismarck
entered this war with a unique goal for its conclusion as his main goal was not to instigate a conflict to
defeat an enemy, but to merely assert the sovereignty of the German states. He kept this goal in mind
when conducting the war, and he avoided creating a humiliating defeat

Earthquake An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. We know that tectonic plates move

  • 2. Americans Attitude Change in the 60 s Question 1: For many Americans, the 1960s began with JFK s Age of Camelot, an era that seemed to exude confidence in American institutions. Yet, by the early 1970s, those expectations and attitudes seemed to be replaced by a sense of bitterness and cynicism. Discuss and analyze the causes and consequences of this profound attitudinal shift. Question 3: How did official US policy towards Vietnam change between 1950 and 1975? How did American leaders link events in Vietnam to national security interests? How did the American public react to the war in the sixties and early seventies? Answer: These two questions are so intertwined with one another that combining the two answers is the most efficient way of telling the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What seems to have begun the turning of the tide for Americans perception of government is what comes next. In November of 1963, JFK was assassinated in Dallas. In one explosive moment, Camelot came crashing down and died with Kennedy. America was shocked, and events such as Jackie s witness to Johnson s swearing in, all while continuing to wear the blood and brain speckled suit, further personified the event. Johnson was not as liked as a president. He had somewhat of a personality complex. He always wished to be viewed as powerful. He was a tall Texan, and his professed arrogance was pushed on all who contacted him. For example, he had a powered chair lift installed in Air Force One so that he could raise himself inches above the people he was talking with. Johnson had always been a strong legislator, and he brought these talents to the white house. He pushed for social issues. He was successful in passing the Civil Rights Act in 1964, followed by the Voting Rights Act shortly later. In November of 64, Americans elected Johnson in a landslide. All of America except for the Deep South seemed to like what he had to say about social issues. Johnson s own presidency shadows the divide of America. Johnson was brought into the continuing expansion of troubles in Vietnam. Kennedy had supported the South Vietnamese democratic intentions, but shortly before his own ... • 3. Difference Between Shakespeare And Romeo And Juliet Although Ovid and William Shakespeare were born in very different time periods, they share quite similar stories of love and tragedy in their popular works Pyramus and Thisbe and The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Ovid first created his story, Pyramus and Thisbe , about the romance between two separated lovers. Then, years later, Shakespeare wrote his play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, which shows many signs of influence from Ovid. The stories also share various archetypes that shape their tales. For example, the works both contain classical romances with an ending full of tragedy. Also, there are many guiding factors that are the same, such as the communication between the lovers, their misunderstanding, and the inevitable outcome of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the stories, there is a looming factor that is changed by the tragic ending, the feud and the mulberry tree. In Pyramus and Thisbe , the snow white mulberries, that are mentioned in the exposition, change to a dark red after the warm blood of the two lovers splatters upon the fruit. According to the text in Pyramus and Thisbe , The blood spurted up over the berries and dyed them a dark red (948). Later in the story, Ovid states, The gods were pitiful at the end, and the lover s parents too. The deep red fruit of the mulberry is the everlasting memorial of these true lovers (949). In both tales, the change is carried from beginning to end, as the tone of the story also changes. The berries from the mulberry tree represent the change in worlds of the characters. Similarly, the horrible feud that begins the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet ends once the a pair of star crossed lovers take their life. The Prince of Verona states at the end of the woeful play, See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, / That heaven finds a means to kill your joys with love (5.3.292 293). The heartbroken families of the two victims of tragic love decide to put away their differences and come together and shared the love of their children. • 4. Analysis Of Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy To experience feelings of delight and bliss individuals must also face difficult times to help them better recognize and appreciate their future happiness. Without experiencing sadness and heartbreak people would be significantly less appreciative of their future lovers and self. To fully feel what love is, you must have experienced loss because without feeling how painful the flip side of situation is there would be no way of feeling anything at all, which would drive everyone to be completely numb. Throughout the following poems Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? , My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun , The Flea , and Thomas Hardy s Neutral Tones the authors all share their experiences about love, with a major emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem from 1633 entitled The Flea by John Donne s shines a light on a man trying to persuade a woman into being intimate with him, but the female struck him down through her strong sense of self. Although a main focus of this poem is the hardships of two people having different intentions in a relationship, the female also manages to show a significant amount of self love. Too often people try to focus on each others needs rather than their own, which can backfire and lead to someone being in an uncomfortable situation. But when she struck down the fly she also struck down his argument that they needed to become intimate hence showing a strong sense of self worth. Rather than giving into the man s wishes she sticks to her personal boundaries and morals which shows the readers a great example of self love and standing up for yourself. In Shakespeare s poem My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun published in 1609, he successfully expresses a few more difficulties of love through a humorous tone. Women are too often held to high beauty standards which Shakespeare strikes down by helping the readers realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that nature should not be compared to women in the first place. By making multiple comparisons between his lover and nature Shakespeare focuses on being honest and having realistic standards for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shaping Australia s Identity Research Paper Inquiry Question 1 The discovery of gold changed the nature of Australia more than any other event before or since socially, economically, environmentally and socially. The gold rushes of the 1850 s had a significant impact on shaping Australia s identity. The gold rushes had a great impact on society. The indigenous people were pushed out of their own territory because the English needed more land to dig for gold in. • 8. The Hysterectomy Of Abortion A hysterectomy is when an abortionist permanently removes the entire uterus and the baby with the intent to kill the baby. Third trimester abortions are the same procedures as those performed in the second trimester, but the United States only allows abortions after twenty four for medical reasons. Abortion is one of the most controversial debate in the world today. The reason that this is such a hard topic to solve is because of one simple question. When does life begin? The answer to that question would end the debate of whether abortion should be considered murder or not. Viability is currently the legal determining factor of when life begins. However, a baby shows signs of life even before it is viable outside of the womb. At five weeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This begins at five weeks. If a baby is killed after five weeks, it should be considered murder. When someone is shot and their heart never stops beating, it is called attempted murder, but if the victim s heart stops beating, it is classified as a homicide. When a woman decides to abort her child after five weeks, she is stopping the heart of a human being. Abortionists argue that even if a baby has a heartbeat, it could not live outside of the womb until it is around twenty five weeks, therefore it is not murder to kill someone that would not survive anyway. That is the same as killing someone who is terminally ill just because they are not going to survive. A four year old also cannot live on his own without a safe environment and nutrients, just as a baby cannot survive without the safety and nutrition of the mother s womb. Does that mean it is okay to kill a four year old too? Abortion will always be a debatable topic, so listen to your heart, the one that has been beating inside of you since you were five weeks old, because it will help you make the right ... Amid this war Iran was assaulting Iraq as well as assaulting oil tankers from Kuwait adrift as well. To help the closure of the war Kuwait monetarily helped Iraq by loaning the nation 10 Billion US Dollars. Iraq attempted to persuade Kuwait to break up the obligation as Iraq had helped Kuwait out by being at war with Iran, Kuwait declined and this created a crack between the two nations. Helen Bennett It is perhaps part of the unique genius of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land that both critics and lay readers have repeatedly felt forced to look outside the published text of the poem for clues as to its meaning. The text s fragmented, seemingly violated body seems to exhibit wounds through which its significance has slipped, creating a difficulty caused by the author s having left out something which the reader is used to finding; so that the reader, bewildered, gropes about for what is absent...a kind of meaning which is not there, and is not meant to be there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Asked to describe what sort of life might spring up out of the stony rubbish (20) of the poem s sterile landscape by an interlocutor who seems by the force of the allusion to Ezekiel to be a representative of some sort of transcendent reality, there seems to be no way for the poet to answer. The speaker continues in almost accusatory tone: You cannot say, or guess, for you know only/ A heap of broken images (21 22), and it is in this line that Eliot questions the potential for meaning inherent in language. The self is unable to explicate the nature of this life for his only language is a mere heap a disordered pile of broken images . Here Eliot describes language as representation, and in this mode it is doubly useless; first, because it is broken , fragmented and divorced from the very realities it was intended to describe, and second, because it consists of mere images representations of things and not the things themselves. One might argue that language, though only a heap of broken images, does achieve a certain reflexivity here, for in that disordered pile of reflections lies a landscape where the sun beats,/ And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief (22 23). But the space that language presents here is a sterile, dead one, without evidence of the growth of either root or branch. The characteristics that I possess are: Accuracy and double checking: As a good problem solver, I am concerned with accuracy. I always check and recheck, the problem if necessary. I always reread instructions and avoid guessing. In contrast, a poor problem solver is sloppy and inaccurate. They may misunderstand the problem or the process of solving it. Most of the time, they lack the slow, step by step approach. (Whimbey,1982.p.7). Can do attitude: Simply expressed, as an effective problem solver, I see problems as opportunities, a chance to learn something new, to grow, to succeed where others have failed, or to prove that it can be done . Underlying this attitude is a deeply held conviction that, with adequate preparation, the right answer will emerge. Good problem solvers believe that Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work(Thomas Edison). Poor problem solvers will give up at first chance and are not willing to learn anything new. There are characteristics that i feel I need to improve. The Interrogation Techniques Used By Military Standards In August of 2002, without consulting Congress, the Bush administration changed the definition of torture by military standards to allow for previously illegal interrogation techniques. (Inside Guantanamo) Bush lost a lot of respect from American citizens for doing this on his own instead of consulting Congress because it added a lot of suspicion that he was trying to hide something. The Pentagon organized the interrogation techniques into three categories. The first one included yelling and deception techniques and the second included sensory deprivation, isolation, stress positions, extensive interrogation, hooding, clothing removal, and the use of phobias. The third and most severe category included waterboarding and even death threats. (Greenberg 221) Bush wanted justice to be served to the men who planned and carried out the deaths of thousands of innocent Americans in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He thought the families of the thousands killed that day deserved that justice. Soon after, President Bush sent 14 men to Guantanamo Bay so that justice could be served to them by the military commissions he had proposed. Firstly, Shakespeare uses the structure, for example punctuation, enjambment, sentence length, caesura and prose, to create the main theme, deception, in the text. The juxtaposition of stars and light with deep and black emphasises his evil and ambitious desires which are achieved by deceiving King Duncan and other people. Additionally, stars are far from the earth and light is extremely fast, so we can say that Macbeth recognises the truth will spread quickly and far away. Therefore, Macbeth deceives others as he does not want that anyone perceives his wicked desires. A good example of this is ... masking the business from the common eye for sundry weighty reasons. So, Macbeth also deceives the murderers as they do not know the true reason why Macbeth orders them to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. Moreover, Macbeth manipulates the murderers to make them to seek revenge by putting the blame on Banquo for their lowly status in life. Another way modernization is illustrated in India is through agriculture and industry, notwithstanding the effects it had on Indians. Industry guided India to a much stronger economy, arguably guiding them to holding a spot in the top ten economies in the world (O.I). Irrigation cultivated approximately 30 million acres, awarding the country great agricultural wealth. Along with wealth also came a disappearance of the famines in India. Collectively, the country of India as a whole benefited from this modernization as it set a higher standard of living for the population. As India s modernization developed, the entire civilization of India improved remarkably. The country s improvement of civilization is exemplified through it s establishment of schools and law. Western education was introduced by Britain and laws were well made with courts that enforce them. (Doc 3). One should take into account the speaker of this document because Romesh Dutt is an Indian like any other, yet he praises the British for what they have done to contribute to the development of India. In addition to these establishments is Britain bringing finer ideals of humanity to India. Infanticide, the killing of female babies, was brought to a halt as well as participation in the slave trade (Doc 5). In the Nikon USA article Pete Turner: Master of Color Photography, Turner states, I ll work with color levels and curves, hue and saturation, but not with filters or composite effects. I don t do any photo composition partly because I don t like the look of it, and also because it s too easy and too many people are doing it. I don t like to follow the path of what s trendy. Saturated color helps to emphasize the boldness of his pictures. He also uses saturation to make parts of his picture more or less bold. Turner does this to make parts of the picture more apparent than others and this creates vanishing points. Vanishing points are apparent in all of Pete Turners photos. After saturating parts of the image and editing it with a digital palette, Turner is able to create vanishing points. Some of the vanishing points he creates a lot are not straight lines. For example, after he makes a blue and green that are next to each other bold, he then saturates the area where they meet and this makes the line blurred and appear not straight anymore. Bismarck had also expanded the influence of the German Confederation with this move as well as gained an important access to the sea. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn t be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to his militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war. Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was more involved.
