Descriptive Essay About Waves
The waves are starting to rise, gaining it strength to do some damage. People on the shore, their
eyes had gotten wider as the waves are getting closer. They had started to panic, quickly
gathering their things and holding their love ones hand, tightly, so they won t get captured by
the waves. Scouting like little fire ants, looking for homes, shelter, or anything that protects us
from this massive waves; however, they realized they re unable to control the speed. Everything
that has been touch by the waves had been diminish, wiping away inch by inch was once our
home. The waves needed prisoners, so they fuel their speed. People had tried to rescue others on
the beach, but it was too late, they re now the wave s prisoners. Capturing dozens of people all at
once and dragging them in the sea. They re forever drowning, carrying their sorrow and fear with
them. River flowing down from their eyes to their cheeks as they seeing their love ones is getting
sweep away. It s hard to imagine, never thoughtthis day would come, never thought it would be
the last day of seeing their face. But are they really gone or are they trapped? Having my curiosity
had me wander; I didn t realize I was standing in the water for so long. I feel the water rising up to
my waist,
There s a time and a place that everyone wish that their life would be easy and not facing any
obstacles. However, I wish it was that easy and have a genie that would popped out of the bottle,

Sophocles Vs. Euripides The Peloponnesian War
When choosing a poet to give Athens much needed advice to hopefully save it from what seems
to be the inevitable end to the Peloponnesian war, one might consider either Euripides or
Aeschylus. Both are excellent tragedians. Based on one s political beliefs, one will probably
easily choose one over because they stand on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Euripidesis
for a more socially progressive state whereas Aeschylus is for a more conservative form. However,
there is a third, and in fact better option. Aristophanes, as a result of preferring comedy over tragedy
and discussing more important issues within his works, such as the state of contemporary politics,
is the obvious candidate who would give Athens the best, most convincing advice. Each poet has
their own method of convincing people. Aeschylus appeals to the citizens negative emotions, such
as fear, melancholy, or hate by depicting the character Clytemnestra as completely evil and
Agamemnon and Orestes as innocent and morally upright (Aeschylus, Libation Bearers, p.100
102). Aeschylus goes into great detail convincing the audience of the great injustice that Orestes
went through and expects them to believe that his actions are, as a result, justifiable. He then
presents Orestes fearful for his life but confident in what the gods have told him after he commits
the murder as he flees from the Furies to seek help from Athena. While this method of storytelling
can be convincing, it is not what people need.

Masculinity in the Russian Mafia
Eastern Promises challenges the view of hegemonic masculinity as a a static, unified concept. By
analyzing the behaviors of members of the Russian mafia, vory y zakone ( thieves in law ),
particularly of Kirill and Nikolai, this paper will illustrate how masculinities are constructed,
performed and reaffirmed in the context of the Russian mafia vory y zakone. The paper will begin
by describing the main tends of masculinities theory, proposing that vory y zakone are creating
oppositional masculinity. Keeping this context in mind, it will be illustrated how men in vory y
zakone are constructing and performing masculinity through degradation of women more
specifically sexual and verbal abuse, through the use of violence and... Show more content on

This can also be seen in the sex position that Nikolai choses. The sex position known as doggy
style is often seen as symbolically impersonal and demeaning, as the position involves the
women to be on her knees while the men takes full charge with little possibility for eye contact.
Furthermore, Nikolai shows no sign of affection nor engages in conversation with the girl in
Kirill s presence. Kirill watching Nikoai have sex with the girl illustrates how degradation of
women serves as performance of reaffirming masculinity for other men. Gang rape serves as a
way for men enact masculinity and power in relation to women but also to other men (Bourgois
1996, pg. 423). One particular reference to gang rape is when Kirill was expected to rape Anna,
the author of the diary. When he could not rape her, his father Siymon raped her in front of Kirill,
thus displaying and reaffirming his masculinity to his son, who failed to do so. Masculinity can
also be created through verbal degradation of women. Kirill and Nikoai constantly degrade women
verbally during their conversations, making comments such as that women should be tamed like a
horse and referring to women as bitches . They therefore imply the subordinate status of women and
imply that they need to be controlled. Heteronormativity in the mafia One of the main words heard
often throughout the movie is the term queer . Being queer or

The Symbols Of Resistance In The Milagro Bean Field War
Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of America once said: When injustice becomes
law, resistance becomes a duty . This duty not only rests on the shoulders of the leaders of a
community, but it also rests on the shoulders of the community as a whole. Resistance, in fact, had
always happened in the past when a community is dissatisfied with a particular party. Therefore,
based on the Milagro Bean Field War film directed by Robert Redfordwith reference to the novel of
the same title by John Nicols, resistance in the context of the community of Milago may be
interpreted as to taunt the enemy, to protect their own people and to protestfor their rights.
Resistance illustrates people taunting the enemy. In this story, the enemy is the... Show more content

When injustice threatens the people of Milagro, they stand together and fight for the victim of
injustice. For example, Kyril Montana, a scheming detective accused Joe of attempted murder
of Amarante Cordova and unlawful flight from persecution and tried to arrest Joe during a bean
harvesting party held at Joe s bean field. During this arrest, the community of Milagro did not
just stand by and watch, instead, they went to their vehicles to take their guns and armed them.
Ruby also stood defiantly in front of Montana that was grabbing Joe by the arm to block him
from proceeding with the arrest. Tensions were escalating up to the point where they were about
to open fire at each other when Bernie, the sheriff of Milagro came racing down to the bean field
yelling for them to stop. Bernie said that Amarante was feeling better and refused to press
charges. Joe s lawyer, Charlie Bloom happily exclaimed, So, there s no attempted murder; there s
no unlawful flight, and unless he (Montana) has a warrant to arrest Joe for taking water, he s
outside his jurisdiction! Just then, a police officer called out to Montana saying that there was a
call from the Governor from Montana. The Governor orders Montana to stop the arrest. Montana
strongly disagreed, but relented in the end. He then asked the police officers to release Joe.
Hearing this, the people of Milagro cheered in victory for they have

North Connex Tunnel
a) Where is the issue located?
The North Connex Project is a nine kilometre underground motorway, beneath Pennant Hills Road,
which links the M2 to the M1. This development has been approved for construction due to the
issue of traffic congestion for motorists travelling between Sydney and the north coast. The Hills
M2 is the motorway connecting Sydney s north shore and north western regions. Furthermore, the
M1 Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The issue
of traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2 is, and it extends
further up north to the Wahroonga area, to the M1. The development will also affect the suburbs

There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the environment as
possible, and surprisingly the impacts on the environment are quite minimal. The only major
environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where there has been the clearance of land for
the infrastructure needed, and this is likely to have an impact on the flora and fauna in those areas
as their habitats are removed. The maps on the following page shows the endangered...vegetation
and animal species..... affected by the developments.
Apart from during the construction of the tunnel, the local air quality is expected to improve, as
the ventilation stacks are to have an insignificant effect on the air quality as they are being built
high enough so that any pollutants are pumped high into the atmosphere. Also, the air quality
modelling that has been carried out (figure 4.1) has shown that the human made particulate matter
(PM 2.5) is to have a 38% reduction with the NorthConnex Tunnel, in 24 hour average
concentrations, by 2029 as shown in the graph below. When the NorthConnex tunnel is in use,
there will be a reduction in the exhaust emissions and the fuel usage in the area, as there will be
higher average travel speeds than on Pennant Hills Road, a more flat and level road road, and
there will be no need to stop and start at traffic lights like the current

ABSTRACT
As the feature size is continuously decreasing and integration density is increasing, interconnections
have become a dominating factor in determining the overall quality of a chip. Due to the limited
scalability of system bus, it cannot meet the requirement of current Systemon Chip
(SoC) implementations where only a limited number of functional units can be supported.
Networkon Chip
(NoC) architectures have been proposed to be an alternative to solve the above problems by using a
packet based communication network. Moreover, as technology scales down in geometry ... Show

Since more than ten years, the term Network onChip
(NOC) has appeared. The advantages of a
NOC based architecture are numerous: high scalability and versatility, high throughput with good
power efficiency. For very large scale integration,
NOC are fully scalable, because the number of nodes can be increased to provide higher global
throughput, without degrading local network link performances.
NOC based architecture and packet switching provide dynamic communication possibilities, which
lead to versatility. At chip level, the longest wires are only connected to two nodes which is good
for local throughput. Finally, data communication and its associated power consumption can be
reduced to only active network links.

Themes of Unity in the Grapes
John Steinbeck #8217;s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, is a moving account of the social plight of
Dustbowl farmers and is widely considered an American classic. The novel takes place during
the depression of the 1930s in Oklahoma and all points west to California. Steinbeck uses the
Joad family as a specific example of the general plight of the poor farmers. The Joads are forced
off of their farm in Oklahoma by the banks and drought, and they, like many other families of the
time, head out for the promised land of California. They endure much hardship along the way, and
they finally make it to California only to find that work is scarce and human labor and life are
cheap. Tom Joad, the eldest son in the family, starts the book freshly... Show more content on

has moved from material and personal resentment to ethical indignation, from particulars to

less. The power of unity is emphasized through the main events of the novel when the Joads
leave the government camp and in the strike at the peach fields. The best part of their arduous
and depressing stay in California, is when the Joads get a space in the government camp at
Weedpatch. The government camp governs and polices itself, has clean camp spaces and large
bathrooms with modern conveniences. Here the migrants are free from the malicious deputies,
who continually beat up the migrants and burn down their paper shacks at the edges of different

clean, decent, orderly and without deputy sheriffs from outside, the people are beginning to
move toward a social ideal #8221; (Bowden 199). When the Joads are forced to leave the camp for
lack of work and food, they realize the power of the camp as a group of people as compared to the
dangers outside of the camp that they continually face. When Tom is saying goodbye to

Modernity in The Metamorphosis and The Judgement by Franz...
French poet Charles Baudelaire famously coined the term modernity as the transient, the fleeting,
the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable . This particularly
characterises the transitory nature of contemporaneity, highlighting the importance art has in
capturing the experience of this urban cosmopolitan. Through The Metamorphosisand The
Judgement, Franz Kafkauses literature in order to portray the sickness of modernity in which
tradition has crumbled under the onslaught . Kafka draws upon the negative aspects of this
industrial civilisation, particularly highlighting
According to Elizabeth Boa, one of the effects of the modernizing process was that of
generational tensions as sons sought to over throw paternal authority and find their own way
within the modern world. A reoccurring motif within both texts is that of the role reversal of filial
relationships in which the son is portrayed as the provider and the father as the dependant. This
experiment with traditional family structure can be seen within The Metamorphosis as Mr. Samsa
is described as almost commensurate with his wife and daughter due to being unable to support
them and wholly relies on Gregor for the household income. He is illustrated as an old man...who
could not take on very much , as having an arduous yet unsuccessful life and was now clumsy in
his movements due to the great deal of weight he had gained. Each of these quotes have negative

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones, Jones describes the
Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I have ever encountered. The Plain
Natives consisting primarily of Blackfoot, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the
bison a sacred animal because it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good
bison kill would weigh about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives
could use the bladder and stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as
cover for teepees and the various bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison
were created by the Great Spirit for the soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them
cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big
Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of
bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that
he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100 Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot.
Every able bodied man from the tribe was out hunting for bison. This shows how important the
bison were for the natives. When a single herd of bison was sighted it was so important that every
man in the tribe would leave their wives and children at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid

The Relationship Between Violent Crime And The Following...
Literature Review
Introduction
This is a non exhaustive literature review of research published between 2006 and 2016. It relies
primarily on peer reviewed literature published within the discipline of sociology, but also draws
upon studies related in other disciplines such as criminology and psychology. The studies in this
literature review focus on violent crime in the U.S. Many studies in this review discuss how some
sociological variables can influence crime for better or for worse. This literature review will discuss
the relationship between violent crime and the following five themes: race, religion, gender, income,
and immigration.
Race
Violent crime has consistently been a significant issue throughout U.S. history, especially between
racial and ethnic groups. As a country, we ve had to deal with violent crime dating back to slavery
in the 1600 s, up unto today with issues such as police brutality against racial and ethnic minorities.
Researchers have found that segregation between races within neighborhoods can have a heavy
influence on violent crime (Hipp 2007; Krivo, Byron, Calder, Peterson, Browning, Kwon, Lee
2014), although not all literature had the same results. Three races that were used throughout the
research were Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Within racially segregated neighborhoods, those with a
higher percentage of African Americans experience higher rates of violent crime (Hipp 2007). The
same thing can also be said about Latinos. Among racially

Robert Frost s Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a poem describing the journey of an
unknown traveler on his way back home. At a certain point during his trip he is passing through
the woods owned by a man who lives in the same village as he does. He decides to stop and savor
the beauty of the woods on this particularly dark winterevening. This darkness, however, goes far
beyond the physical setting in the story and is more fitting perhaps, for the way Frost s traveler
feels inside. Robert Frosts Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening contains dark themes associated
with death, which are symbolized by his descriptions of winter, darkness, and feelings of loneliness.
The first symbol that Frost uses to illuminate the dark themes... Show more content on

It is very fitting for the speaker to be struggling against the lovely, dark and deep (line 13) woods
and to remember that he has miles to go before he sleep[s] (line15, 16) while thinking about the
difficulties he may be having trying to find a market for his harvest. As he begins to feel
disappointed he finds himself being lost to the beauty of the scene. If it were a bright summer
day on which the speaker is stopping, the sleep he refers to might literally be a short rest, but the
poem is set on the darkest evening of the year (line 8) while the woods fill up with snow, (line 4)
and any rest taken in the woods in these conditions would result in the eternal sleep of death.
Sleep is another common symbol for death, and death is the largest theme in Stopping by Woods
as most readers associate the traveler s perspective on the woods as his own desire to rid himself
of the burdens of life. He views death as an event that would free him from the trials and
tribulations of life. He feels like there is no way to escape the disappointment of informing his
family of upcoming struggles due to his failure to provide for them. The woods however, seem
to act as the cradling arms of a mother rocking an agitated infant to sleep. Every element of the
poem works together to create a lullaby effect that calls the speaker to a dark and deep (line 13)
sleep. The gentle imagery of the soft snow and easy wind (line 12), combined with the soft and
gentle tone of the

The Case With The Lakeview Regional Hospital Simulation...
Sometimes failure can really be the best teacher. This was the case with the Lakeview Regional
Hospital Simulation Exercise. During the simulation, I learned a lot about working with a team,
knowing when to stand firm and when to compromise. I have been a part of plenty of projects,
but sometimes I can be a little lost when it comes to the healthcare aspects of things. It was during
these times that I looked to my teammates to assist with filling in some valuable blanks about the
healthcare environment. I do have a lot of experience with introducing technology, training and
media relations. It was during these parts of the simulation that I could really lend a helping hand.
The simulation illustrated the importance of buy in amongst the implementation team as well as
other members of the entire organizations. It showed that there will always be some inherent
resistance, but that doesn t mean that change is impossible as long as there is some flexibility. I
also learned that interviewing can be a powerful tool. It is imperative to include as many
perspectives as possible in order to successfully change an organization. These interviews provide
individual insight as to the current state of the establishment, as well as provides many possible
solutions to common problems. Through interviewing we were able to note common trends in
information to provide a more complete solution to the overall problem. After interviews, the force
field analysis allowed us to evaluate problems, as

fire, one constructed slowly with proper materials will have a long lasting flame; one built with
improper materials will burn with blitz, or not at all. The consequences of loveare always
overlooked, as the flame it creates is blinding. Love is the Achilles heel of a character s honour.
It s force allows impossible, or forbidden relationships between relatives, opposing personalities
or opposing sides. Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet could have never lead a platonic relationship,
raised on opposing sides to hate each other; it is the power of love that allowed such a relationship
to form. The same goes for characters in Wuthering Heightsand A Storm of Swords. It blinds to the
consequences of breaking vows and rules, and forsaking honour. In George R.R. Martin s A Storm
of Swords, and Emily BrontГ« s Wuthering Heights, ill fated relationships lead to feuds waged,
broken families, and ultimately death, because a vow or rule was broken, thereby demonstrating the
immense repercussions of dishonour.
In A Storm of Swords, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are married to, or betrothed to
another. They run off together, dishonouring themselves, their partners, and their houses; leading to
war, devastation, and the death of themselves and their families. Rhaegar swore a vow

Human Nature And Its Effects On Human Evolution
I think that it is amazing that they found the fossils of a human that looks so different than
anything they have found before and that existed not that long ago. I believe based on the evidence
and the different articles that it is a new species. If that truly is the case, then that is amazing to
even think about. There is dissimilarity within species; there are also discrete species. The term
hominid is a member of the zoological family Hominidae. Hominidae incorporates all species
instigating after the human/African ape familial divided, leading to and as well as all species of
Australopithecus and Homo.
Human evolution has mystified man for many years. Human inquisitiveness has made us wonder
where and how we came about. I believe in human evolution because the fossils found as evidence,
the way humans associate to some other living organisms, and the way we will remain to
progress. The hominid fossils that were recovered in Africa, Europe, and Asia over the past 120
years are the products of mineralization. This ordinary procedure has happened by the oozing of
minerals into the hard tissues of animals or plants which had been unexpectedly been enclosed by
deposit, Fossils are authentic copies of once living organisms.
Species are changeable. It is also true that many previous forms of life are nonexistent in additional
of 90% of all life forms ever to have occupied the earth. Some of these systems have become
inexistent in the sense that they have been altered through

Chapter 29 is composed mainly of letters that were sent between Jerusalem and Babylon. Jeremiah
received information that false prophets in Babylon were telling the exiles they would return home
soon. Therefore, the exiles made little or no effort, to adjust to their new surroundings. When King
Zedekiah sent an official delegation to Babylon, Jeremiah used the occasion to secretly send a
letter, carried by Elasah and Gemariah, two of Jeremiah s few supporters, to the rest of the elders
of the exile, the priests, the prophets and all the people (29: 1 3). Disturbed by their unrealistic
attitude, Jeremiah exhorted them to settle down, build homes, and plant gardens; for he knew they
would be in Babylon many years (25:11).5
The Letter: Jeremiah 29:4 14
The message to the exiles was very practical. First, they should realize that God had sent them into
captivity. There are no greetings from Jeremiah here, no personal words. Instead the letter begins
with This is what the Lord says, as Yahweh addresses the entire exilic community and identifies
himself as the one who exiled them from Jerusalem to Babylon. 6 That being the case, they should
make the best of their situation. The normal activities of life should be resumed. Specifically he
mentioned building houses, planting gardens, and marrying their children. Jeremiah directed them
to pray for the

Jesse and Dexter talk. She tells him that the night before she heard Rita and Buck saying that he

they need to leave. Back at Valley Gardens the parents are receiving the phone calls from Juan

Back at the cabin, the kids finally decide that Marianne will distract Rita while Buck s gone so
Jesse can sneak and get the keys to the storage room to unlock the boys later. When Buck comes
home, he and Rita go to sleep and the girls unlock the boys. The plan is to have Dexter hotwire
the car with Glenn s help, and for Bruce to transport messages between the boys and girls. Jesse
and Marianne go back to the bunk beds and await the message from Bruce that they are ready
when she hears Buck get out of bed and go into the kitchen. She tries to get Buck to go back to
bed when the door comes open slowly and in walks Bruce. Bruce says quietly that they got the car
hotwired, then he sees Buck. Jesse shouts run and all three boys take off down the hill. The girls
screamed when a pistol shot rang out throughout the forest. They saw a dark figure drop onto the

The Danger Of Atomic Weapons
Amid the Cold War, the danger of atomic weapons put the destiny of millions in the hands of a
couple of individuals. Be that as it may, reacting to today s difficulties, the dangers of terrorism
and normal debacles requires the wide engagement of common society. The terrorists picked
battlegrounds are liable to be possessed by regular folks, not warriors. What s more, more than the
loss of honest lives is in question: an atmosphere of apprehension and a feeling of feebleness despite
misfortune are undermining confidence in American goals and powering political demagoguery

Amid the epic battles of the American Revolution, the American Civil War
, and the two world
wars; intermittent monetary downturns and the Great Depression; and the occasional scourges of
seismic tremors, pestilences, surges, and storms, Americans have drawn quality from affliction.
Every era gave to the following a feeling of certainty and good faith about what s to come.
However, this supply of independence is being drained. The United States is turning into a weak
country. An undeniably urbanized and suburbanized populace has grasped without a moment to
spare ways of life fastened to ATM machines and 24 hour stores that give moment access to
money, nourishment, and gas (van Rensburg, Pearson Meyer, 2015). At the point when the force
goes out and these present day comforts fall flat, Americans are debilitated. In the interim, two
years of citizen resistance have stripped away the methods important for government laborers to
give help amid crises. Most city and state general wellbeing and crisis administration offices are
not subsidized satisfactorily enough for them to do even their normal work. An influenza pandemic
or other real fiasco would totally overpower them. A report on debacle readiness discharged in June
2006 by the U.S. Branch of Homeland Security found that just 25 percent of state crisis operations

other relevant organizations to the peacekeeping mission, including the soldier s home state s

acceptable in his or her home state. Cultural beliefs are considered the compendium of acts that
are considered acceptable by a group of people on which an individual bases his or her actions.

Any given mission may have unique characteristics regarding the conflict, mandate, and beneficiary
local population. However, only one mission will be considered, given the logistical constraints of
collecting detailed information in many different locations. Despite this constraint, a large enough
sample will reveal if peacekeeping soldiers are having difficulty resolving value conflicts
concerning SEAs. Interviews will be conducted after pre deployment training. This will allow all
soldiers to be similarly exposed to the consequences of sexual misconduct and informed about the
gendered perspective concerning sexual misconduct. While training may vary, the UN produces
the guidelines centrally. Prior to all interviews, demographic data that may be helpful in the
analysis will be collected, including Gender Identification, Nationality, Age, and Rank. All
interviewees will be approved for participation by his or her commanding officer as well as the
head of the mission. All records of the interviews will be subject for review and elimination at the
request of the head of the mission, the commanding officer, and the interviewee at any time. All

An Organization Is Super Important
Organization is super important. So when you organize your cables, it ll be very easy for you to
find things and have complete access. It is easier to find things in an organized place than in a
messy and cluttered place. By organizing, you know the exact place where things are at and you
would not have to spend hours finding them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save
time as well as energy. Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The
empty space that is created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look more
spacious. Arranging cablesand putting them into order automatically creates space. Many a times,
there are people, who say they need more space for their stuff. When things are in less or in proper
order, you need little space. A smaller home with the proper arrangement maintenance can be
sufficient and satisfying for you. Cablemanagement not only provides you with a cleaner and
more organized space, it can also extend the life and improve the performance of your cables!
Cords that are piled up on the floor or they hang slack behind equipment are more likely to suffer

Slavery in Ancient Roman Society
Unfortunately, Western Civilization includes many instances of social, political, and economic
oppression. When most people now think of slavery, they think of the United States because that
memory is relatively new and culturally relevant to Americans. However, slavery existed in many
other cultures and times across the world. Understanding the nature of slaveryis integral to an
understanding of Western Civilization in general. Ancient Rome practiced slavery throughout much
of the Empire, and especially under Emperor Augustus. It is likely that slavery was just as
important for making the Roman Empire strong, wealthy and powerful as it was for the early
United Statesto become wealthy and powerful. Therefore, it is important to understand the role that
slavery played in ancient Rome. Slavery was practiced differently in ancient Rome than it was
practiced in the United States. For instance, the ancient Romans enslaved any foreigners who were
conquered, and not just those that were ethnically or racially different.
There is ample evidence showing how slavery was practiced in ancient Rome, and why. When
the area of Pompeii was excavated by archaeologists, the findings included tombstones that were
from former slaves. These tombstones show a lot about the role that slaves played in ancient
Roman society. For example, some of the tombstones are for freed slaves. Slaves were therefore
freed regularly by their masters. Once the slaves were free, they could participate in most

Explain The Five Steps Of Correcting The Pao2 Level
Step one of the five steps approach to interpret the above values is to look at the PaO2 level
which is currently 70. Since the normal level is between 80 to 100 mm hg, the current PaO2 of
70 means Mary is experiencing hypoxemia. However, the patient s current oxygen delivery is at
100% thus the nurse needs to continue to monitor the patient closely. A strategy to correct the
PaO2 level is correcting the PaCO2 level first because as CO2 rises, PaO2 falls. The nurse can
adjust the PEEP level and can be increased to 6 or 7cm H20 since that will help keep the alveoli
open to better the oxygenation for the patient so we are able to eventually decrease the delivered
O2 to protect the patient from any possible oxygen toxicity. The second step is

Personality test can either accurately describe who you are, or misinterpret the type of

Therefore, by using the Five Factor Model of personality and Pat s corresponding results, I will
be explaining Pat s personality throughout this paper. The Five Factor Model of personality in
which a 55 and above is a high score, 54 45 is average and 44 and below is low, is categorized as

Monument To Mosby s Men
Monument #1: Monument to Mosby s Men:
Confederate Colonel John Singleton Mosby was quite the character. Known as the Gray Ghost ,
his strategy of rapid military assaults against Union troops proved deadly effective (Wheeler,
thewashingtonpost.com, 2012). He sported a plumed hat and scarlet lined grey cloak as he directed
his troops, Mosby s Rangers, straight from the saddle (Wheeler, thewashingtonpost.com, 2012).
Their mission was to harass and discourage Union soldiers in stationed Virginia (Wheeler,
thewashingtonpost.com, 2012). Their success was blatantly obvious as they killed hundreds of
Union soldiers during their many conflicts (Wheeler, thewashingtonpost.com, 2012).
But even the best can make mistakes. Mosby s Men Monument, located in Prospect Hill Cemetery
in Front Royal, Virginia, serves are a remembrance to those who died under Mosby s command
during the war (Hawks, shenanadoah.stonesentinials.com, n.d.). Specifically, this stone obelisks
commemorates six soldiers who were captured by Union General Wesley Merritt s Calvary during
an engagement in Chester Gap, Virginia, in 1864 (n.a., vaudc.org, n.d.). Four of the Confederate
soldiers were immediately shot without trial in front of civilians (n.a., vaudc.org, n.d.). The
remaining two were offered freedom in exchange for information on Mosby s headquarters; upon
refusal, they were hanged (n.a., vaudc.org, n.d.).
In 1899, the monument honoring the men was erected by the surviving members of Mosby s

The Need for Health Care Reform Essay
Abstract It is time for our government to take a step away from war and look to meeting the
needs of their own citizens. The need for health care reform is more evident than ever. The
recession of America has caused many people hardship due to many lay offs and the fact that
insurance premiums have risen drastically. Many families are not receiving the health care that
they require due to these circumstances. It affects not only the young, but the senior citizens as
well. Many people do not qualify for the already present government health care programs such as
Medicaid and Medicare. Changes need to be made immediately in order for all Americans to be
able to afford insurance. These situations are causing the American public... Show more content on

A government run, public option should be implemented as soon as possible. Out of all the
American public, over 47 million Americans have no health care insurance. The cost of health
care premiums has increased by 114 percent between 1999 and 2007. The everyday working
person s income has only increased by 27 percent ( Pay for What Works, 2008). In the article,
Cost Effective Medical Treatment (2008), it states: Health care costs are rising rapidly and it s
believed that much of the rise in medical expenditures is attributed to the use of medical
technologies that are too expensive to be justified . The health care industry is relying on high
tech medical devices to care for the patients. In the article, Pay for What Works (2008), it is
stated: the U.S. also has trouble controlling the spending habits of a health care colossus that is
on track to consume 20 cents of every dollar by 2015, a tripling from 1970 levels (p.32).What
they fail to realize is that years ago these advances in technology did not exist and patients were
still diagnosed and cared for. Of course, we have medical equipment now that can help personal
conditions that could not be treated before, but are we overlooking the cheaper, just as efficient
ways? Why should surgery automatically be performed when there is a medication that can handle
the problem first? No wonder why so many Americans cannot afford health

highlighted in terms of corporate governance. Furthermore, the lack of trust was the key factor that

John Winthrop And Sewall Analysis
The Age of the Puritan Writers There are many writers (works) who have contributed to American
Literature with their Puritan ideals. Furthermore, two of the main Puritan standouts of this time
were John Winthrop ( A Model of Christian Charity ) and Samuel Sewall ( The Selling of Joseph
). Although, both writers showed differences in their style of writing, they both try to spread a
greater message: that the world should be unified and just in their dealings with one another,
because this is the only way God would allow for their success. To visualize a clear picture of this
unification and justification, Winthrop and Sewall organized the structure of their works in stating

Sewall used stories from the bible and connected them to worldly situations that were occurring
at this time. For example, he mentions how God hath given the Earth [with all its commodities]
unto the sons of Adam, Psalms 115.16. And hath made of one blood, all nations of men, for to
dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds
of their habitation: That they should seek the lord, forasmuch then as we are the offspring of
God, Acts 17.26,27,29 (Sewall 232). He uses these scriptures to explain to Americans how God
has told them to live their lives on his earth. Everyone is entitled to freedom on his land because
they are all equal (because of the blood of him they all share), and that they should hold to his
unchanging hand because he is their father and will lead them in the right way. John Winthrop
used his scriptures to express how people should become and remain one body of Christ to
prosper in the New World they were starting. Ephesians 4.16 says: Christ, by whom all the body
being knit together by every joint for the furniture thereof, according to the effectual power which
is the measure of every perfection parts, a glorious body without spot or wrinkle, the ligaments
hereof being Christ or his love, for Christ is love [1 John 4.8] (Winthrop 171). Winthrop is saying
that loving each other as Christ loves

highly populated region, Somerset. The regions surrounding Somerset has one of the largest
populations under 18 at 24.27%, and a potential to rise even higher, hence the high enrollment
numbers in the south corridor of Bellevue. The proposed elementary school* would be able to

past, I ve had problems with staying ahead on my assignments and end up swamped at the end of

learned for a temporary period of when I need the information in class, but later, I tend to forget
and not retain everything I ve learned. The curriculum in this class seems to be things that I can
really benefit from fully understanding and being able to know how to use these tools, I will be
prepared for the future. In order to do this, I will read all the required chapters from the book and
make sure I attend class everyday. I believe this goal goes hand in hand with the other 2 goals I ve

that the class will be very useful for my future, I feel that this is a good goal to work towards so
that I don t forget the work I put into this

The Three Stages Of Behaviorism
BEHAVIORISM
Behaviorism is a type of psychology and a theory of learning. Everything we know about
behaviorism is through observation and experimentation. It is not concerned with internal thoughts
like thinking, feeling, knowing or emotions. What behaviors believe is people have no free will. A
person s environment determines their behavior Behaviorism is the idea that all behavior is the
result of our environmental surroundings. On other words, the things that happened in the
environment leading up to the behavior are what caused it. The environment provides a stimulus,
and our behavior is a response to that stimulus. It focuses on the objective and observable
components of behavior

Classical conditioning is defined as a learning process where two stimuli are repeatedly paired and
eventually a response originally elicited by the just the second stimuli is elicited beforehand by the
first stimuli.
Classical conditioning theory involves learning a new behavior via the process of association. In
simple terms two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or
animal. There are three stages of classical conditioning. At each stage the stimuli and responses are
given special scientific terms.
Before Conditioning:
In this stage, the unconditioned stimulus produces an unconditioned response in an organism. In
basic terms, this means that a stimulus in the environment has produced a behavior / response
which is unlearned (i.e. unconditioned) and therefore is a natural response which has not been
taught. In this respect no new behavior has been learned yet.
During Conditioning:
During this stage a stimulus which produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the
unconditioned stimulus at which point it now becomes known as the conditioned stimulus.

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, the Man Who Created the Nuclear...
One man created a nuclear bomb, ended a world war, saved hundreds of thousands of lives, all
while creating a new wave of theoretical physics. He was born on April 22, 1904 in New York.
His father, who had come to the United States from Germany at the age of 17, was a prosperous
textile importer. His mother, Ella Freedman, was a painter who studied in Paris and came from
Baltimore. He is Julius Robert Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer was the most important person of the

The Philosophy Of Classroom Management
Theoretical Introduction Philosophy of Classroom Management When I think of my future
classroom, I imagine it to a home. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still
be a learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite
when they should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to
guide their learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when
the time is appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying
attention to the teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be
able to move around and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning

East Timor Crisis Analysis
Post independence and UN assistance, East Timor remains drastically behind other nations
developmentally. Infrastructure concerns are a major domestic and government services are in
some locations are non existent. Strengthening its local economy has been key and is an area of
East Timorese success. East Timorboasted a GDP growth rate of 11.7% in 2014 when at
independence the nation experienced little economic activity. In 2000, the government took in a
revenue of 1.6 million total, mostly as duties on goods purchased by UN officials in East Timor. To
reach this point, East Timorese officials have capitalized on oil reserves worth roughly $40 billion
just off its coast. Prime Minister Gusmao made oil production a critical component of the... Show

For decades all of the high skill positions were restricted to the Indonesian occupying body of East
Timor, adding a barrier to anyone in East Timor hoping to advance. Combined with the purge in
response to East Timor s independence referendum, outside aid has been essential to guiding its
development.
Political leadership in East Timor however has been an obstacle in the process of achieving actual
sustainable growth. Many leaders date to the period of Indonesian occupation and their leadership
styles reflect this. One example is the leadership style of its former Prime Minister Gusmao.
Gusmao was chiefly accused of leading neo patrimonially as a product of the resistance era
mentality. Part of these accusations come from his tendency to award contracts and consistently
make purchasing decisions without consulting the actual members of his cabinet. When advisors
were consulted, they were frequently other members of resistance groups dating back to Indonesian
occupation. East Timor s own laws are written to prevent such events, but the mentality of guerilla
leadership has lead to the idea officials can act unilaterally without a dialogue. Gusmao was
replaced in 2015, but this makes up the majority of the young nation s lifespan. Gusmao continues
to hold office as the minister of Finance, and several other major government positions are occupied
by other resistance leaders. Corruption is not an uncommon occurrence in developing nations, but

A La Carte By Web Based Services Essay
Nowadays, budget conscious customers look at ways to avoid paying for expensive bundles
cable TV offers. They prefer to choose a la carte programming offered by web based services. A la
carte approach to programming enables the subscribers to pay for only the channels they really
want to watch. Several companies including Verizon, Walt Disney
and Viacom provide their
customers with content they are interested in without the need of paying for channels they are not
willing to watch. No wonder there is a lot of competition between the largest operators in the
wireless and cable industry like Verizon, Dish and Comcast.
In 2014 Verizon Communication chief, Lowell McAdam, said that Web and mobile devices require
a different approach than traditional cable. He stated that Web and mobile users don t desire to
have hundreds of channels on their wireless device (Albanesius, 2014). Verizon looks into the
future and understands the need of implementing changes and satisfying customers. The company
wants to move in the right direction and allow their customers to have more control over the
programming.
Dish is another company that has made their services more attractive to their customers. The
company strives to increase the value of their products and services. Dish offers live local broadcast
and channels like ABC Family or ESPN over mobile devices and set top box. Dish s customers are
now able to access Disney s Watch ESPN or Watch ABC Family apps making it possible to view

`` The First Full Length Novel `` By Henry Fielding
Joseph Andrews, the first full length novel which was made by the English author Henry
Fielding. And considered from the first English novels, this novel was called by Henry Fielding s
comic epic poem in prose. This novel is a parody version of the novel Pamela . it is the story of a
good natured footman s adventures on the road home from London with his friend and mentor, the
stargazing parson Abraham Adams. The novelspeaks to the meeting up of the two contending feel
of eighteenth century writing: the false chivalrous and neoclassical (and, by augmentation,
privileged) methodology of Augustans, for example, Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift; and the
famous, household exposition fiction of authors, for example, Daniel Defoe and Samuel
Richardson. At this paper I will discuss points of view themes, characters, language, and
significance
for ten or eleven years, Joseph Andrews was in the administration of Sir Thomas Booby, the uncle
of Squire Booby, who was hitched to the prudent Pamela, Joseph s sister. At the point when Lord
Booby passes on, Joseph from the beginning stays in the utilize of Lady Booby as her footman.
This woman, much more seasoned than her twenty one year old servant and evidently minimal
irritated by her spouse s demise, is pulled in to the charming mannered, attractive young person.
Joseph, be that as it may, is as prudent as his renowned sister, and when Lady Booby s advances
ended up such that even his honesty can no more disregard their

The Impact Of Corporate Social Responsibility On The Food...
Humans are born with the natural tendency to aid one another through mediums such as being
proactive on social as well as ethical issues. When one compares this natural tendency to the
industries of today, one see s this voluntary behaviour in a deliberate and compelled act by most
involved, which is truly known as Corporate Social Responsibility. Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) is known to be the voluntary model that is not only used by many businesses, but industries
themselves to self regulate their active compliance with the law, ethical standards within their
respective sectors alongside achieving their economical success. CSR initiatives may contain
consumer s welfare and providing them with true knowledge of products, animal welfare,
employees welfare as well as reducing environmental impacts. Today, many businesses involved and
those who directly fall under the foodindustry lack the voluntary act to carry out CSR initiatives
and this can be seen through consumers behaviour and attitudes, animal welfare as well as
environmental impacts.
Firstly, the lack of CSR initiatives in the food industry today, can be seen through the behaviour and
attitude of its consumers. Many consumers have shifted from the traditional blindfold purchasing at
the supermarket to making valid and reasonable choices. For instance, a large corporation like
NestlГ© is currently under the heat due to its irresistible chocolate bars. This is due to the
prevalence of statistics, facts as

Mary Warren In The Crucible
In the Crucible there are a group of girls that go into the woods. They dance, chant, and some of
them even took there clothes off. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what
to think of it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and
some others began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many
people in this tale that I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason
for this is because in my opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did.
Whether she meant to, or not. She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So
now we shall indulge ourselves into the significance of this character and what role she truly
plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth
Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into the woods to dance . After the girls were
caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and put it on others. This caused a big
commotion, that in the end caused many people to lose their lives. The girls were saying that
people are witches in order to save there own lives. Marry being one of these girls was not
completely happy with what she was doing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

side. That s when Abigail had a great idea. Abigail was more or less the leader of the girls and
was just as conniving as the devil. Knowing good and well that Mary was going to give the
poppet to Elizabeth, Abigail took a needle and stabbed herself and accused Elizabeth of witchcraft.
What this had done, was that the men from the court came to the Proctors house looking for a
poppet which they found and found the needle in its stomach. Unknowingly Mary had put Mrs.
Proctor in jail and caused John to get even more involved than he had

Maximizing the Corporate Objective with the Stakeholder...
Introduction The main contender to value maximization as the corporate objective is stakeholder
theory, which argues that managers should make decisions so as to take account of the interests of
all stakeholders in a firm, including not only financial claimants, but also employees, customers,
communities, and governmental officials. Because the advocates of stakeholder theory refuse to
specify how to make the necessary tradeoffs among these competing interests, they leave managers
with a theory that makes it impossible for them to make purposeful decisions. With no clear way to
keep score, stakeholder theory effectively makes managers unaccountable for their actions (which
helps explain the theory s popularity among many managers).
But if value creation is the overarching corporate goal, the process of creating value involves much
more than simply holding up value maximization as the organizational objective. As a statement of
corporate purpose or vision, value maximization is not likely to tap into the energy and enthusiasm
of employees and managers. Thus, in addition to setting up value maximization as the corporate
scorecard, top management must provide a corporate vision, strategy, and tactics that will unite all
the firm s constituencies in its efforts to compete and add value for investors.
In clarifying the proper relation between value maximization and stakeholder theory, the author
introduces a somewhat new corporate objective called enlightened value

Mel Gibson s Tragic Depiction In The Passion Of The Christ
There s something fundamentally wrong with this world. Judeo Christians blame sin and man s
sinful nature. Because of man s imperfection, we get death, deceit, and destruction. Everyone
would agree the effects are monstrous, and deliverance from the world s depravity seems to be
everyone s pursuit, yet we all fail at achieving it. Which is why JesusChrist came to die for our
sins, because the wages of sin is death; to be a vicarious sacrifice, the death of Christ had to be
and was a gruesome event. But, how gruesome? And is the film The Passion of the Christa
sagacious depiction? Film critics have charged Mel Gibson, the director of The Passion of The
Christ, for being unnecessarily morbid depicting the crucifixion and left out the achievement that
Christ s offering brought to mankind. Others defend Gibson s portrayal; by arguing one must
understand his Catholic background so as to shed light on his macabre depiction. Steven
Greydanus, from the National Catholic Register, is a defender of Gibson s work. In his article
Understanding the Catholic Meaning of The Passion of the Christ, he ultimately argues that

Scott, from The New York Times, was one who felt disturbed by the film saying it has the feel of
a horror movie. (Scott) This is because The Passion of the Christ is so relentlessly focused on
the savagery of Jesus final hours that this film seems to arise less from love than from wrath
(Ibid) As a rhetorical structure, A.O. Scott uses the motif of Christ s sacrifice of love for
humanity and Gibson s depiction of the event as the perversion of the events that transpired. A
viewer, particularly one who accepts the theological import of the story, is thus caught in a
sadomasochistic paradox (Ibid). Gibson s desire to make a realistic film about the passion is taken
to account, but the style and tone of The Passion are far from what is ordinarily meant by realism,
causing the film to have the feel of a horror movie

Prevention And Treatment Of Malaria
Cases of malaria are found all over the world, but especially in tropical regions. This disease is
very widespread because people obtain malaria when visiting these areas and then they bring it
back to where they live. Malaria affects millions of people every year, and depending on the case
it can be very serious or easily treated. At the moment there is only one main method that doctors
use to treat malaria, but there are many precautions that can be taken to prevent it from infecting
someone. There is only one way a person can acquire malaria, and that is through a mosquito bite.
The mosquito that can spread malaria has to be of a certain genus and gender. The type that
transmits malaria is an Anopheles mosquito. This kind of mosquito is the only one who can affect
humans because anopheles obtain a parasite when taking in the blood of an affected person. This
parasite is called a Plasmodium, and it grows inside of the mosquito until it reaches its fullest
potential. When this occurs, the mosquito can then infect a person. Also, only female anopheles
mosquitoes can transmit malaria. This is because females need blood to gather nutrients that are
necessary to make their eggs, and the males do not need to do this. In order for a person to attain
malaria there is a certain process that occurs. The first step is that a mosquito bites a person who is
already affected with malaria. Because of this the mosquito now contains malaria and can further
transmit it to other humans.

Disparity In Healthcare
As an oncologist at Grady Memorial, an inner city hospital located in Atlanta, Dr. Brawley
witnesses the disastrous effects of healthcare disparity first hand. Healthcare disparities are vast
differences in quality and access to care between socioeconomic classes. health care disparities
refer to differences in health and health care between population groups. Disparities occur across
many dimensions, including race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, location, gender, disability
status, and sexual orientation (KFF, 2016). As Brawley describes to us, Grady is a hospital that
demonstrates health disparity at its worst. Brawley describes Grady as a monument to racism,
Racism is built into it, as is poverty, as is despair. (Brawley, 2011).

The Importance Of Standing Up For Children
Marian Wright Edelman, an American children s rights activist said, If we don t stand up for
children, then we don t stand for much. (Marian Wright Edelman Quotes.). Standing up for our
children is very important because they are the future of human existence. There can be many
reasons that children need someone to stand up for them and be there for them. Organizations
provide help when parents are unable to financially or emotionally support their children. Agencies
help find orphanages and foster families for children in need, often housing kids that have been
neglected or abused, with nowhere to go. Furthermore These children need a lot of love and
support, and Eliada Home is one of those organizations providing quality foster care, child care, and
therapy to meet that need.
Need
I m alone. I m hungry and I m shivering in the dark. (Pelzer 3). These words from a desperate
child remind us that not all children have access to foster care. Without foster care, kids would
shuffle between unsafe and temporary housing with nobody to look out for them. In Buncombe
County, the Department of Child Protective Services put 199 children in non family institutions
between July 2015 and June 2016. (Duncan) Many children suffer from abusive and neglectful
parents. In fact, in the United States a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds (Child
Abuse Statistics). Due to abuse, and drug use, many children are placed in foster care in Buncombe
County. The need for foster care

  • 4. Sophocles Vs. Euripides The Peloponnesian War When choosing a poet to give Athens much needed advice to hopefully save it from what seems to be the inevitable end to the Peloponnesian war, one might consider either Euripides or Aeschylus. Both are excellent tragedians. Based on one s political beliefs, one will probably easily choose one over because they stand on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Euripidesis for a more socially progressive state whereas Aeschylus is for a more conservative form. However, there is a third, and in fact better option. Aristophanes, as a result of preferring comedy over tragedy and discussing more important issues within his works, such as the state of contemporary politics, is the obvious candidate who would give Athens the best, most convincing advice. Each poet has their own method of convincing people. Aeschylus appeals to the citizens negative emotions, such as fear, melancholy, or hate by depicting the character Clytemnestra as completely evil and Agamemnon and Orestes as innocent and morally upright (Aeschylus, Libation Bearers, p.100 102). Aeschylus goes into great detail convincing the audience of the great injustice that Orestes went through and expects them to believe that his actions are, as a result, justifiable. He then presents Orestes fearful for his life but confident in what the gods have told him after he commits the murder as he flees from the Furies to seek help from Athena. While this method of storytelling can be convincing, it is not what people need. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By analyzing the behaviors of members of the Russian mafia, vory y zakone ( thieves in law ), particularly of Kirill and Nikolai, this paper will illustrate how masculinities are constructed, performed and reaffirmed in the context of the Russian mafia vory y zakone. The paper will begin by describing the main tends of masculinities theory, proposing that vory y zakone are creating oppositional masculinity. Keeping this context in mind, it will be illustrated how men in vory y zakone are constructing and performing masculinity through degradation of women more specifically sexual and verbal abuse, through the use of violence and... The sex position known as doggy style is often seen as symbolically impersonal and demeaning, as the position involves the women to be on her knees while the men takes full charge with little possibility for eye contact. Furthermore, Nikolai shows no sign of affection nor engages in conversation with the girl in Kirill s presence. Kirill watching Nikoai have sex with the girl illustrates how degradation of women serves as performance of reaffirming masculinity for other men. Gang rape serves as a way for men enact masculinity and power in relation to women but also to other men (Bourgois 1996, pg. 423). One particular reference to gang rape is when Kirill was expected to rape Anna, the author of the diary. When he could not rape her, his father Siymon raped her in front of Kirill, thus displaying and reaffirming his masculinity to his son, who failed to do so. Masculinity can also be created through verbal degradation of women. Kirill and Nikoai constantly degrade women verbally during their conversations, making comments such as that women should be tamed like a horse and referring to women as bitches . They therefore imply the subordinate status of women and imply that they need to be controlled. • 7. The Symbols Of Resistance In The Milagro Bean Field War Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of America once said: When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes a duty . This duty not only rests on the shoulders of the leaders of a community, but it also rests on the shoulders of the community as a whole. Resistance, in fact, had always happened in the past when a community is dissatisfied with a particular party. Therefore, based on the Milagro Bean Field War film directed by Robert Redfordwith reference to the novel of the same title by John Nicols, resistance in the context of the community of Milago may be interpreted as to taunt the enemy, to protect their own people and to protestfor their rights. During this arrest, the community of Milagro did not just stand by and watch, instead, they went to their vehicles to take their guns and armed them. Ruby also stood defiantly in front of Montana that was grabbing Joe by the arm to block him from proceeding with the arrest. Tensions were escalating up to the point where they were about to open fire at each other when Bernie, the sheriff of Milagro came racing down to the bean field yelling for them to stop. Bernie said that Amarante was feeling better and refused to press charges. Joe s lawyer, Charlie Bloom happily exclaimed, So, there s no attempted murder; there s no unlawful flight, and unless he (Montana) has a warrant to arrest Joe for taking water, he s outside his jurisdiction! Just then, a police officer called out to Montana saying that there was a call from the Governor from Montana. The Governor orders Montana to stop the arrest. Kumarasamy College of Engineering, [2]Assistant Professor, M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering ABSTRACT As the feature size is continuously decreasing and integration density is increasing, interconnections have become a dominating factor in determining the overall quality of a chip. Due to the limited scalability of system bus, it cannot meet the requirement of current Systemon Chip (SoC) implementations where only a limited number of functional units can be supported. Networkon Chip (NoC) architectures have been proposed to be an alternative to solve the above problems by using a packet based communication network. Moreover, as technology scales down in geometry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since more than ten years, the term Network onChip (NOC) has appeared. The advantages of a NOC based architecture are numerous: high scalability and versatility, high throughput with good power efficiency. For very large scale integration, NOC are fully scalable, because the number of nodes can be increased to provide higher global throughput, without degrading local network link performances. NOC based architecture and packet switching provide dynamic communication possibilities, which lead to versatility. At chip level, the longest wires are only connected to two nodes which is good for local throughput. Finally, data communication and its associated power consumption can be reduced to only active network links. II. LITERATURE REVIEW A. The Joads are forced off of their farm in Oklahoma by the banks and drought, and they, like many other families of the time, head out for the promised land of California. • 12. Modernity in The Metamorphosis and The Judgement by Franz... French poet Charles Baudelaire famously coined the term modernity as the transient, the fleeting, the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable . This particularly characterises the transitory nature of contemporaneity, highlighting the importance art has in capturing the experience of this urban cosmopolitan. Through The Metamorphosisand The Judgement, Franz Kafkauses literature in order to portray the sickness of modernity in which tradition has crumbled under the onslaught . Kafka draws upon the negative aspects of this industrial civilisation, particularly highlighting According to Elizabeth Boa, one of the effects of the modernizing process was that of generational tensions as sons sought to over throw paternal authority and find their own way within the modern world. A reoccurring motif within both texts is that of the role reversal of filial relationships in which the son is portrayed as the provider and the father as the dependant. This experiment with traditional family structure can be seen within The Metamorphosis as Mr. Samsa is described as almost commensurate with his wife and daughter due to being unable to support them and wholly relies on Gregor for the household income. He is illustrated as an old man...who could not take on very much , as having an arduous yet unsuccessful life and was now clumsy in his movements due to the great deal of weight he had gained. It relies primarily on peer reviewed literature published within the discipline of sociology, but also draws upon studies related in other disciplines such as criminology and psychology. The studies in this literature review focus on violent crime in the U.S. Many studies in this review discuss how some sociological variables can influence crime for better or for worse. This literature review will discuss the relationship between violent crime and the following five themes: race, religion, gender, income, and immigration. Race Violent crime has consistently been a significant issue throughout U.S. history, especially between racial and ethnic groups. As a country, we ve had to deal with violent crime dating back to slavery in the 1600 s, up unto today with issues such as police brutality against racial and ethnic minorities. Researchers have found that segregation between races within neighborhoods can have a heavy influence on violent crime (Hipp 2007; Krivo, Byron, Calder, Peterson, Browning, Kwon, Lee 2014), although not all literature had the same results. Three races that were used throughout the research were Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Within racially segregated neighborhoods, those with a higher percentage of African Americans experience higher rates of violent crime (Hipp 2007). The same thing can also be said about Latinos. At a certain point during his trip he is passing through the woods owned by a man who lives in the same village as he does. He decides to stop and savor the beauty of the woods on this particularly dark winterevening. This darkness, however, goes far beyond the physical setting in the story and is more fitting perhaps, for the way Frost s traveler feels inside. As he begins to feel disappointed he finds himself being lost to the beauty of the scene. If it were a bright summer day on which the speaker is stopping, the sleep he refers to might literally be a short rest, but the poem is set on the darkest evening of the year (line 8) while the woods fill up with snow, (line 4) and any rest taken in the woods in these conditions would result in the eternal sleep of death. Sleep is another common symbol for death, and death is the largest theme in Stopping by Woods as most readers associate the traveler s perspective on the woods as his own desire to rid himself of the burdens of life. He views death as an event that would free him from the trials and tribulations of life. He feels like there is no way to escape the disappointment of informing his family of upcoming struggles due to his failure to provide for them. The woods however, seem to act as the cradling arms of a mother rocking an agitated infant to sleep. The spark of love can be compared to that of an actual fire, one constructed slowly with proper materials will have a long lasting flame; one built with improper materials will burn with blitz, or not at all. The consequences of loveare always overlooked, as the flame it creates is blinding. Love is the Achilles heel of a character s honour. It s force allows impossible, or forbidden relationships between relatives, opposing personalities or opposing sides. Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet could have never lead a platonic relationship, raised on opposing sides to hate each other; it is the power of love that allowed such a relationship to form. The same goes for characters in Wuthering Heightsand A Storm of Swords. It blinds to the consequences of breaking vows and rules, and forsaking honour. In George R.R. Martin s A Storm of Swords, and Emily BrontГ« s Wuthering Heights, ill fated relationships lead to feuds waged, broken families, and ultimately death, because a vow or rule was broken, thereby demonstrating the immense repercussions of dishonour. It is easier to find things in an organized place than in a messy and cluttered place. By organizing, you know the exact place where things are at and you would not have to spend hours finding them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save time as well as energy. Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The empty space that is created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look more spacious. Arranging cablesand putting them into order automatically creates space. Many a times, there are people, who say they need more space for their stuff. When things are in less or in proper order, you need little space. A smaller home with the proper arrangement maintenance can be sufficient and satisfying for you. • 28. Slavery in Ancient Roman Society Unfortunately, Western Civilization includes many instances of social, political, and economic oppression. When most people now think of slavery, they think of the United States because that memory is relatively new and culturally relevant to Americans. However, slavery existed in many other cultures and times across the world. Understanding the nature of slaveryis integral to an understanding of Western Civilization in general. Ancient Rome practiced slavery throughout much of the Empire, and especially under Emperor Augustus. It is likely that slavery was just as important for making the Roman Empire strong, wealthy and powerful as it was for the early United Statesto become wealthy and powerful. Therefore, it is important to understand the role that slavery played in ancient Rome. Slavery was practiced differently in ancient Rome than it was practiced in the United States. For instance, the ancient Romans enslaved any foreigners who were conquered, and not just those that were ethnically or racially different. There is ample evidence showing how slavery was practiced in ancient Rome, and why. When the area of Pompeii was excavated by archaeologists, the findings included tombstones that were from former slaves. These tombstones show a lot about the role that slaves played in ancient Roman society. For example, some of the tombstones are for freed slaves. Slaves were therefore freed regularly by their masters. Once the slaves were free, they could participate in most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the normal level is between 80 to 100 mm hg, the current PaO2 of 70 means Mary is experiencing hypoxemia. However, the patient s current oxygen delivery is at 100% thus the nurse needs to continue to monitor the patient closely. A strategy to correct the PaO2 level is correcting the PaCO2 level first because as CO2 rises, PaO2 falls. The nurse can adjust the PEEP level and can be increased to 6 or 7cm H20 since that will help keep the alveoli open to better the oxygenation for the patient so we are able to eventually decrease the delivered O2 to protect the patient from any possible oxygen toxicity. Introduction The main contender to value maximization as the corporate objective is stakeholder theory, which argues that managers should make decisions so as to take account of the interests of all stakeholders in a firm, including not only financial claimants, but also employees, customers, communities, and governmental officials. Because the advocates of stakeholder theory refuse to specify how to make the necessary tradeoffs among these competing interests, they leave managers with a theory that makes it impossible for them to make purposeful decisions. With no clear way to keep score, stakeholder theory effectively makes managers unaccountable for their actions (which helps explain the theory s popularity among many managers). But if value creation is the overarching corporate goal, the process of creating value involves much more than simply holding up value maximization as the organizational objective. As a statement of corporate purpose or vision, value maximization is not likely to tap into the energy and enthusiasm of employees and managers. Thus, in addition to setting up value maximization as the corporate scorecard, top management must provide a corporate vision, strategy, and tactics that will unite all the firm s constituencies in its efforts to compete and add value for investors. In clarifying the proper relation between value maximization and stakeholder theory, the author introduces a somewhat new corporate objective called enlightened value ... • 46. Mel Gibson s Tragic Depiction In The Passion Of The Christ There s something fundamentally wrong with this world. Judeo Christians blame sin and man s sinful nature. Because of man s imperfection, we get death, deceit, and destruction. Everyone would agree the effects are monstrous, and deliverance from the world s depravity seems to be everyone s pursuit, yet we all fail at achieving it. Which is why JesusChrist came to die for our sins, because the wages of sin is death; to be a vicarious sacrifice, the death of Christ had to be and was a gruesome event. But, how gruesome? And is the film The Passion of the Christa sagacious depiction? Film critics have charged Mel Gibson, the director of The Passion of The Christ, for being unnecessarily morbid depicting the crucifixion and left out the achievement that Christ s offering brought to mankind. Others defend Gibson s portrayal; by arguing one must understand his Catholic background so as to shed light on his macabre depiction. Steven Greydanus, from the National Catholic Register, is a defender of Gibson s work. In his article Understanding the Catholic Meaning of The Passion of the Christ, he ultimately argues that interpreting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scott, from The New York Times, was one who felt disturbed by the film saying it has the feel of a horror movie. (Scott) This is because The Passion of the Christ is so relentlessly focused on the savagery of Jesus final hours that this film seems to arise less from love than from wrath (Ibid) As a rhetorical structure, A.O. Scott uses the motif of Christ s sacrifice of love for humanity and Gibson s depiction of the event as the perversion of the events that transpired. A viewer, particularly one who accepts the theological import of the story, is thus caught in a sadomasochistic paradox (Ibid). Gibson s desire to make a realistic film about the passion is taken to account, but the style and tone of The Passion are far from what is ordinarily meant by realism, causing the film to have the feel of a horror movie ... • 47. Prevention And Treatment Of Malaria Cases of malaria are found all over the world, but especially in tropical regions. This disease is very widespread because people obtain malaria when visiting these areas and then they bring it back to where they live. Malaria affects millions of people every year, and depending on the case it can be very serious or easily treated. At the moment there is only one main method that doctors use to treat malaria, but there are many precautions that can be taken to prevent it from infecting someone. There is only one way a person can acquire malaria, and that is through a mosquito bite. The mosquito that can spread malaria has to be of a certain genus and gender. The type that transmits malaria is an Anopheles mosquito. This kind of mosquito is the only one who can affect humans because anopheles obtain a parasite when taking in the blood of an affected person. This parasite is called a Plasmodium, and it grows inside of the mosquito until it reaches its fullest potential. When this occurs, the mosquito can then infect a person. Also, only female anopheles mosquitoes can transmit malaria. This is because females need blood to gather nutrients that are necessary to make their eggs, and the males do not need to do this. In order for a person to attain malaria there is a certain process that occurs. The first step is that a mosquito bites a person who is already affected with malaria. Because of this the mosquito now contains malaria and can further transmit it to other humans. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. The Importance Of Standing Up For Children Marian Wright Edelman, an American children s rights activist said, If we don t stand up for children, then we don t stand for much. (Marian Wright Edelman Quotes.). Standing up for our children is very important because they are the future of human existence. There can be many reasons that children need someone to stand up for them and be there for them. Organizations provide help when parents are unable to financially or emotionally support their children. Agencies help find orphanages and foster families for children in need, often housing kids that have been neglected or abused, with nowhere to go. Furthermore These children need a lot of love and support, and Eliada Home is one of those organizations providing quality foster care, child care, and therapy to meet that need. Need I m alone. I m hungry and I m shivering in the dark. (Pelzer 3). These words from a desperate child remind us that not all children have access to foster care. Without foster care, kids would shuffle between unsafe and temporary housing with nobody to look out for them. In Buncombe County, the Department of Child Protective Services put 199 children in non family institutions between July 2015 and June 2016. (Duncan) Many children suffer from abusive and neglectful parents. In fact, in the United States a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds (Child Abuse Statistics). Due to abuse, and drug use, many children are placed in foster care in Buncombe County. The need for foster care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
