Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation
Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents and my
grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live. Some people say
that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many generation have been
named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim Urban called the generation I
live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents lived in was called Generation X or
Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some aspects while in other they are very
similar. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving
home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the
people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation
stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others
choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or
return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents
generation in Brazil it was normal for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there
until they get married or start a new family, different from generation Y the education was very
important so not many people left school. Most people in the Baby boomers generation kept the same
job and

Cub A Political Leader Of Cuba
A revolution is a struggle to the death between the future and the past. Fidel Castro has had a
tremendous impact on Cuba. Castro was a political leader of Cuba (1959 2008) who transformed his
country into the first communist state in the Western Hemisphere. Castro became a symbol of
communist revolution in Latin America.
Before Fidel Castro took rein Cuba was the island of sin, a society consumed by the illnesses,
gambling, the Mafia, and prostitution. In 1969 Cuba changed drastically, but still was mainly known
for dance, music, prostitutes, cigars, abortions, resort life, and pornographic movies. Gambling in
Cuba meant casino gambling. The reason Cuba attracted tourists is because of its gambling. After

Compared with New York City in 1977, where 40,000 female sex workers were reportedly working,
the ratio of sex workers in 1950s Havana, with a population of 1 million people, was approximately
double the amount of the one in New York City, with 8 million people.
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926, near Birán, in Cuba s eastern Oriente
Province. He was the third of six children, including his two brothers, Raúl and Ramón; and three
sisters, Angela, Emma and Agustina. Castro grew up in wealthy circumstances even though most of
Cuba was in poverty. From an early age, Castro showed he was intellectually gifted, but he was also
something of a troublemaker and was often more interested in sports than studies. He attended
Colegio Dolores in Santiago de Cuba and then El Colegio de Belén in Havana. After his graduation in
late 1945, however, Castro entered law school at the University of Havana and became immersed in
the climate of Cuban nationalism, anti imperialism and socialism, focusing his energies more
exclusively on politics.
By 1947, Castro had become increasingly passionate about social justice and he traveled to the
Dominican Republic to join an expedition attempting the overthrow of the country s dictator, Rafael
Trujillo. Even though the attempt failed he traveled to Columbia and was involved in an attempt to
overthrow the government. In 1947, Castro also joined the Partido Ortodoxo, an anticommunist
political party founded to

Comparing Imagery in Frost s Acquainted with the Night...
Imagery in Frost s Acquainted with the Night and Sexton s Her Kind
In order to maximize meaning and overall total effect of a piece of work, writers use various literary
devices. These techniques enhance the author s work and add a dimension that results in higher reader
satisfaction. Throughout the poems I have read this quarter thus far, I have discovered the use of
imagery as a prominent source of literary embellishment. In particular the image of night is used in
poems Acquainted with the Night, written by Robert Frost, and Her Kind, written by Anne Sexton, to
portray a dark and lonely tone. All through both poems there is a dark feeling due to word selection
and associations to evil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem Her Kind, by Anne Sexton, the same feeling of loneliness is achieved through association
with the night. The image of night has the same quality of being rejected by society, and outcast
because of the disconnection with people. Night is seen by the world as a time to sleep and be within
ones own thoughts and dreams. For the speaker to be up and about signifies that she is alone while the
world sleeps. Therefore she must be lonely. Using night as the setting but not totally describing every
little detail, creates a sense of unknown. The witch in this case is spooky and misunderstood and is
unable to participate in daily activities so she must take shelter of the night in order to do her evil
business. Night allows the concept of a witch to take its full affect. Witches are almost always
associated with the night. Especially when it is a wicked witch. Witches are ugly so they must travel at

Interpreter Of Maladies Summary
Tone portraying marital discord In Interpreter of Maladies Guilt, betrayal, and romance all different
types of tone or the attitude of the author towards the audience, characters, subject or the work itself.
In the short story Interpreter of Maladies Jhumpa Lahiri uses tone and mood in many different ways to
portray marital discord in the Das and Kapasi family, along with the feelings that come with it. Mrs.
Das, a married woman who is not happy in her relationship betrayed her husband. Mrs. Das had an
affair with one of Mr, Das friend after he found out London Pharmaceutical Company hired him,
Bobby was conceived in the afternoon, on a sofa littered with rubber teething toys, after the friend
learned that a London pharmaceutical company had hired him, while Ronny cried to be freed from his
playpen. She made no protest when the friend touched the small of her back as she was about to make
a pot of coffee, then pulled her against his crisp navy suit. He made love to her swiftly, in silence, with
an expertise she had never known, without the meaningful expressions and smiles Raj always insisted
on afterward. Pg. 64, This shows when Mrs. Das had an affair on Mr. Das and betrayed him. Jhumpa
Lahiri includes this betrayal because it is a huge factor in how Mrs. Das acts around Mr. Das. Along
with the effect of how Mrs. Das acts towards Mr. Das it is the start of marital discord between them.
Mrs. Das, will now to deal with guilt because of what she did to her husband. Mrs

Insider Trading And Stock Market
Furthermore, many economists believe that insider trading leads to instability in the market.
Economists Julan Du and Shang Jin Wei suggest that when the market is at higher volatility, insider
trading has mainly a part to play in this instability of the market. However, these two economists also
believe that many other factors play into the market efficiency and insider trading. Some of these
factors include: financial and economic policies, and the maturity of the stock market at the current
time that insider trading occurs. There are many people who believe that insider trading effects market
efficiency in a negative manner. However, there are plenty of studies that have been conducted that
show otherwise. These studies were done in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a company issues new shares to an investor, the capitals from these shares are spread to that
company. However, the problem that is seen is: product market flaws tend to create a monopoly,
instead of making the market even with investors. According to Joel Peress when trades are initiated
by insiders, and the information content of stock prices is higher for firms with more market power
(pg.34). This is one of the main reasons that insider trading is in fact illegal in the United States of
America. When insider trading occurs, it only benefits bigger companies, thus creating very limited
opportunities for smaller companies to expand. There was a study done by Stephanie Roddenberry Dr.
Frank Bacon: a student and a professor in accounting at Longwood University. They took a look at
weather insiders buy low and sell high. They studied that when insiders and investors acted on non
public information, earned above normal returns, than those investors who were not able to earn above
the normal risk of acting on the public announcement. In conclusion, there are many opinions on
insider trading affecting the market efficiency, but there has been determined that when the there is
less regulation in the market, it seems more often that it affects the equity markets. As a result, when
insider trading is being regulated by an agency. There are many agencies that enforce rules on insider
trading. In addition, there is one main agency that regulates the

Money Laundering
In todays world there are so many different ways to commit a crime. You might not even realize it,
that it could be a family member or even a really close friend committing these crimes. I am talking
about a white collard crime called Money laundering. Have you ever wondered what Money
laundering really is? With this research paper, you will get a chance to finally learn what it really is all
about. You will get an inside look into Money laundering. From their we will learn about the types of
people that commit this type of crime and why. Then we will look into how they ended up getting
caught. After that we will take a look into all the cases against the people and corporations that were
caught red handed laundering money. Now that I have caught you re your attention, you are probably
thinking to yourself; What is Money laundering? Money laundering is a term that refers to the
activities and financial transactions that are undertaken specifically to hide the true source of the
money (IRS.GOV) that you have received. This is usually happening when you are receiving your
money illegally and trying to show that you are receiving the money from actual business type
situations. A great example would be a drug dealer receiving all of his money from selling drugs and
then turning around and saying he is receiving the money from a fake storefront or even from
construction. When in reality they do not

To what extent did economic problems contribute to the...
The collapse of the Weimar Republic can not be seen as solely indebted to the severe economic
problems faced during the period of its rule, but consequently it was the economic issues that became
a footstep to the ultimate demise of the Republic. Subsequent to Germany s defeat in the First World
War and German Emperor Kaiser s abdication from power, the Weimar Republic was proclaimed. The
Republic that had emerged from the German Revolution of November 1918 would inevitably fall as a
result of numerous issues. However, the extent of which economic problems had in the dissolution of
the republic, and how these issues caused or came about due to separate concerns faced by the new
democratic system became a major contributing factor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The establishment of the new constitution drawn up on the 11th of August 1919 caused many internal
issues within the democratic system as a result of continual economic disaster. Germany was to be a
Federal State, with a parliament to be elected every four years following a system of proportional
representation. This system faltered due to the amount of political parties (during the rule of the
Weimar Republic, there were 21 separate coalitions) and a lack of political census. Economic
conditions lead to a polarisation of extremists left and right support. In times of instability it was noted
that poor standards of living meant the lower class leaned towards the left wing, while the higher class
leaned towards the right due to lack of national pride. The extent of economic issues in Germany
caused the middle class and aristocrats to consider political extremities. Consequently this caused
huge political divisions in German society, which denied the republic of any political census, resulting
in a large amounts of political parties and changes to government. This made it very difficult to
establish stability in the republic, or even get laws passed, weakening the effect of the democratic
system. The political chaos economic conditions brought about caused many Germans to lose faith in
the new democratic system during its initial period of rule.
The Weimar Republic was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles on June 28,

Connotation In Regina Barreca s Nighttime Fires And Elders
The poems Nighttime Fires and Seniors both deal with memories of their authors experiences as
youth. In Nighttime Fires , Regina Barreca talks about how after her father lost his job, he developed
an unhealthy obsession with watching houses burn, and she discusses how he involved his family in
this somewhat insalubrious fixation. Similarly, in Seniors , Alberto Rios discusses several events that
had an impact on him and the word choices he uses relays that he still While Barreca implies in her
poem that she learned from what her father did and moved on, Rios suggests that he is still allowing
the events of his childhood to impact him today and in some sense, this could be compared to the
father in Nighttime Fires who would not let ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of dynamic language is apparent in both poems. In Nighttime Fires , Barreca chose to use
words that have a strong negative connotation and allude to conflict. The title itself carries no conflict,
and just from reading the title, the reader could presuppose that the poem is simply discussing
something positive such as a sitting around a campfire or fireplace. However, as she starts the poem,
she uses words that that display both the excitement she felt, as well as the frustration that her father
was experiencing after losing his job. At first, she uses dynamic words and phrases such as piled /
running noses / drove fast and later on, festival and carnival these words seem to denote the
excitement that Barreca felt as a child. Yet, while she felt excited, she can now see the conflict and
frustration that her father was experiencing and proceeds to utilize more negative language to express
this frustration. She describes how her father would be awake past midnight , read old newspapers
with no news , and split the pencil between his teeth, mad . These dynamic phrases and words carry
heavy connotations and, in literature, would usually only be applied to moments of conflict or
frustration. Alberto Rios also uses dynamic language in

Examples Of Structuralism In I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
I am putting to use a structuralist view upon the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud because it can be
related to with simpleness, put down to the fact that it is positioned in the lyrical genre. Structuralism
is a theory in which all elements of human culture are thought to be part of a system of signs. Robert
Scholes demarcated structuralism as a reaction towards despair and modernism (Scholes, Robert.
Structuralism in Literature: An Introduction, 1975). I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud is a poem that
commemorates the utmost beauty of nature to such a degree that the poet believes it to be ... Show

As previously stated, structuralism is a theory in which all elements of human culture are thought to
be part of a system of signs. Structuralists are concerned with issues such as form and genre. The
reason why I chose to apply a structuralist perspective upon William Wordsworth s poem is due to the
fact that that it can be easily interacted with because it is positioned in the lyrical genre. The rhyming
scheme is in the form ABABCC. The rhyming couplet evident at the end of each stanza creates an
unpretentious break caused by the addition of a new stanza. As a result, the final line of teach stanza
contains an additional sense of emphasis. The final line of the poem mentions the show and conveys
images of dancing daffodils, a long lasting impression discussed by Wordsworth. The meter of this
poem is an iambic tetrameter. The meter creates a rhythm with a musical, song like quality, to which
the daffodils may dance. Wordsworth also employs consonance and alliteration to create the sense of
rhythm. The form of a poem is of utmost importance to structuralist critics. I Wandered Lonely as a
Cloud is twenty four lines long and it features four stanzas with six lines each. In each individual
stanza there is a perceptible pattern the first line rhymes with the third line and the second line rhymes
with the fourth line. The stanzas finish with the inclusion of a rhyming couplet. By concentrating the
first three stanzas on the lake experience and the final on the memory of that experience, Wordsworth
amalgamates the content of the poem. It is interesting to note that despite the obvious fact that I
Wandered Lonely as a Cloud is built as a sonnet although it is a lyrical poem. Wordsworth employs
figurative language such as comparisons, personification, epithets and metaphors so as to express his
feelings to the reader. As a sub genre, I Wandered Lonely as

Women And Women In Jack Kerouac s On The Road
In Jack Kerouac s novel, On the Road, women are objectified and sexualized by the men in the story.
Sal, Dean and other male characters use descriptive language to portray a woman s looks and
demeaning language to characterize the women they encounter. The men also disregard any feelings
that the women have while also ignoring any positive qualities they may have. The two women who
are the main victims in this novel are Marylou and Camille, and Dean Moriarty is the source of the
majority of the mistreatment. To begin, I would not recommend On the Road to anyone who is a
feminist. This novel clearly victimizes and objectifies the female characters. Moreover, the fact that
these women are not only characters, but real people who experienced mistreatment from these men,
can be even more disturbing and offensive to not only feminists, but all females. Marylou is first
referred to as his beautiful little sharp chick. The possessive pronoun his refers to Dean; together with
a lacking description of the chick aside from her appearance, creates Marylou as simply someone,
even something, that belongs to Dean. She is not described by her personality or height of intellect,
but instead, her looks. From the beginning, Marylou is denounced to nothing more than a sexual
object for Dean to take advantage of. Additionally, it is no secret that Marylou is merely a consistent
hookup for Dean. When Sal arrives at Dean s apartment he says, Dean had dispatched the occupant of

Private Benefit Analysis
Chief Justice Martin, writing for the majority, stated that [i]n addressing this question [of whether or
not the Program constitutes a public purpose,] we are mindful of the general proposition articulated by
this Court over forty five years ago: Unquestionably, the education of residents of this State is a
recognized object of State government. Further, the court emphasized the proper scope of the long
established definition of public purposes, instructing that [t]he term public purpose is not to be
narrowly construed. Despite these general propositions, the majority opinion made clear that the Court
has declined to confine public purpose by judicial definition, leaving each case to be determined by its
own peculiar circumstances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dissent s argument was that if the Program is not delivering an education by North Carolina
standards, then it is wrong to characterize it as a public purpose. The majority opinion leaned heavily
on the inferential logic that education will always serve a public purpose, and, therefore, the Program
obviously qualified as a public purpose because it claims to serve an educational goal. The dissent
stressed that the majority missed a critical step in determining whether the Program could
constitutionally qualify as a public purpose. Justice Hudson noted that, while students enrolled in
private school may be receiving a fine education, in the eyes of their parents, if taxpayer money is
spent on a private school education that does not prepare them to function in and to contribute to our
state s society, that spending cannot be for public purposes only.

The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay
The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for companies in the
logistics and supply chain management industry. According to Jakobs (2000), he states that the RFID
system use tiny tags with embedded microchips that contains data. This data contains the location and
information about the product/item and transfers the data to RFID readers through radio signals.
The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal currently use in
managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a radical innovation, with a
significant impact in the logistics and supply chain industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental
innovation as large firms in the logistics and supply chain industry are constantly making minor
improvements on the RFID. (Wamba, 2013).
2.5 The process of RFID
The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to become an expert
with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification system has three parts (see appendix 2):
1. Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This data is manually
entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag consists of an antenna that
transmits radio waves between the RFID readers.
2. Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data. Whenever the
sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and decode the data on the

The Iranian Revolution Essay
The emergence of the Islamic Republic in late 1970 s Iran demonstrates how middle class Iranian
people purged themselves of the Pahlavi Dynasty in an effort to continue down a more righteous and
egalitarian path. As a result, the country underwent a complete social upheaval and in its place grew
an overtly oppressive regime based in theoretical omnipotence. In response to this regime, the very
structure of political and social life was shaken and fundamentally transformed as religion and politics
became inexorable. As a result, gender roles and the battle between public and private life were
redrawn. Using various primary and secondary sources I will show how the Revolution shaped secular
middle class Iranians. Further, I will show how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

during this period as laws of forced veiling and oppression came into conflict with her preconceptions
of religion. The author cites an instances where the police locked the outside doors of an Iranian

Life Of The Rapa Nui People Research Paper
To fully comprehend the cause and effect of collapse and the factors that play into it, one must first
understand the definition. Collapse is the counterpart of sustainability; if a society creates a non
sustainable way of life then collapse will occur. Sustainability can be defined as the ability to adapt
and progress as a civilization economically, ecologically and socially and thus collapse is the inability
to adapt effectively in these areas (Thiele). Moreover, although a full fledge collapse can be an
extinction of an entire species, unwarranted population displacement, culture and ideology change and
suffering are all indicators of a collapse occurring (Diamond). The phenomenon of having a
civilization completely wiped off the face of the Earth with no signs and influence left in the world to

The Stanford Prison Experiment And Group Think
Zhijie Zhu ENG 104 Mr. Crosetti 22/Sept/2015 A Discussion of The Stanford Prison Experiment and
Group Think Group think is a phenomenon that occurs when group s need for consensus supersedes
the judgment of individual group members. Group think often occurs when there is a time constraint
and individuals put aside personal doubts so a project can move forward or when one member of the

author Philip Zimbardo tells an experiment that ran by a professor who wants to find how could a

getting more and more out of control. Prisoners are getting tame and keepers are getting bossy which
forces the team to stop the experiment in 6 days instead of 14 days. At the end, the author claims his
idea about the experiment that he is surprised by how people can change in a special environment. As
for me, this article gives me an idea that in some special situation, such as the prison environment in
this article, groupthink is something unavoidable and uncontrollable. In The Stanford Prison
Experiment , the cause of groupthink is a prison environment which gives some people absolute
power while other people have to obey the domination. There followed a reading of the 16 basic rules

Analysis of the Korean Economy
Introduction
South Korea s history, strategic location, and political relations in the past and today, have created an
economy which is one of the strongest in Southeast Asia. According to the World Bank, in the last 30
years, South Korea s economy is one of the most outstanding success stories in international
development. (Globaled, p.1). Dating from the Japanese occupation of South Korea , from 1910 thru
1946, then the division of the peninsula enforced by the United States of America and the Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics after Japan s unconditional surrender during WWII; the Republic of Korea
(ROK) had gone throughout drastic changes in its social, economic, and political structure, but in the

The WWII allies had convene that Korea would become free and independent after the war. The
United States and The Soviet Union had agreed to divide Korea at the thirty eight parallel. There was
a plan to drive Korea to a democratic nation as a wholesome, but disagreements on what type of
government should run the new country between USA and USSR blocked the negotiations and to the
day the Korean Peninsula still divided. The though of leaving Korea divided did not seat well in the
population minds. The prospect of perpetuating the division of Korea catapulted some of the southern
political leaders to action, significantly altering the political configuration there. The choice they faced
was between immediate independence at the price of indefinite division, or postponement of
independence until the deadlock between the United States and the Soviet Union was resolved.
A divided economy With the division of the Korean Peninsula at the thirty eight parallel came
complete chaos to the region. Back when the Japanese occupied and dominated Korean society and
economy, most Koreans were forced to leave their land because the Japanese had expropriated it.
Employment was not where in the horizon for these farmers. Hundreds of thousand farmers and
worker left Korea looking for new opportunities in China, Japan and Manchuria. With the

Sophocles Reasons Against Ancient Greek Philosophers
This survey conducted upon 11 14 year olds (Millennials) asked them 4 simple philosophical
questions; What is Death? What are their views on war? What is Democracy? What characteristics
define a human? In this survey, there were 53 responses. Survey dates were November 3rd and 4th.
The participants are in the 7th and 8th Grade Latin classes of Mr. Di Giulio. The rest of the paper will
examine their results and compare their reasonings against Ancient Greek Philosophers.
With the first question asking, What is Death? The question is a strong one and the answers can be
nihilistic or religious. Most of the students answered with a familiar answer, death is when your life
ends, when the soul exits the body, or organs have stopped and the majority of cells have died. But to
most Philosophers, death is considered the worst evil. Sophocles is contrary to that belief, as he
believes that the worst evil is that of when one wishes to die, but cannot (Written in his play, ... Show

Choices, Choices And Choices
Choices. Choices by definition is the act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or
more possibilities. Choices are part of basic life. I chose to write this so I can have the chance to go to
college. The administration chose to read this, in hope of finding the perfect applicant for their
college. The administration can now either choice to read this or toss it away, the choice is theirs. But
in life, there s two main choices in my opinion. The quick and almost sudden choices that don t have
long time value, the choices that you have to back up with a series of other choices. The other type of
choices are long term choices. The choices that can make or break any situation. The choices that will

That s one of the regrettable choices that I made that night. Between him waiting out for thirty minutes
to get into my parent s house and that dreadful sword, I suppose my brother snapped. Then the threats
started to surface. My brother threatened to sue my dad at first, it was quite ridiculous but a younger
me thought that he would actually do it.
I don t remember what happened right after clearly. I know my mother came home and the yelling and
threats between my father and my brother was paused. A wave of relief went over me, finally a time to
collect what was going around. That short time of calmness was too good to be true because in the
span of twenty minutes, the yelling started again, but this time, my mother joined. It wasn t as bad, but
hearing my brother yell profanities at my mother, the woman that raised us, it baffled me. My mother
told me to go upstairs, to hide. She didn t want her baby to get hurt. I did was she told me to do. I sat
on the top of the stairs, listening to the whole conversation. A few minutes after, there was a groan. An
agonising groan filled with pain and disappointment. My brother did it. My brother took out a
pocketknife and stabbed my dad in the back. Then my brother turned to my mother and I and said,
You re next, with all the venom and hatred that he had stuffed down for twenty four years. In that

Pros And Cons Of Robert F. Kennedy s Speech On GDP
Review: Robert F. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons
Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding of
GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations that are
often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things has remained
a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community excellence are often
compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP cannot be used as a measure
of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into account the health of individuals,
their standard of living, quality of education provided to the individuals etc. In this way it is not a
good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the development of an economy.
There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community in
particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored by the
concept of GDP. GDP is unable to take into account the strengths of marriages, the intelligence of the
public, and the integrity of the public institutions. These moral aspects of the community play
significant role in its economic development too. Wisdom, courage, learning, compassion, and
devotion all such factors make our lives worthwhile and therefore it is not a wise option to ignore
these factors while talking about the economic

Woman Hollering Creek Summary
Woman Hollering Creek
As I was reading the Marriage unit assignments, I found I had a hard time relating to the readings as I
am Asexual Aromatic and cannot relate to the relationships or many of the circumstances the authors
wrote about. However, one story that really stood out which I could semi relate to, was Woman
Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. The main character Cleófilas s story has many similarities to my
mother s. While the story doesn t directly relate to me, the parallel events of Cleófilas s and my
mother s stories have affected my life in one way or another. Similarly to Cleófilas, my mother
experienced domestic violence, isolation from friends and family, as well as a fear of shame towards
leaving her husband. Within Cisneris s story, the main character Cleófilas experienced domestic
violence just as my mother had in her past. A few years ago, after my parent s had separated, I was
talking with my mother; somehow we go on the topic of domestic violence and abuse. She told me
about the first time my father hit her. She said that she was so shocked she couldn t even respond. That

The Industrial Revolution And The Evolution Of The...
Katie Rose Knoblock Professor Taylor AMH 2010 O1M 6 November 2017 Evolution of the Industrial
Revolution Many factories did this by targeting women and children as they could be paid less than
men with no repercussions. The workers that were hired to these positions, especially women, were
subject to some very harsh work conditions. They were subject to terrible work environments
including buildings called sweatshops, which were poorly lit and ventilated for maximum
productivity. They were forced to work in dangerous conditions where a person could easily be
maimed or even killed if they mishandled the equipment they used for their work. It was not unheard
of for the workers to be expected to work as much as 16 hours a day under threats of being fired or
even physically abused if they did not complete their work with great speed. Even after all their effort
in the workplace, it was not uncommon for a person to be paid as little as a single dollar for their day s
efforts. These poor working conditions gave rise to labor unions in the 19th century to insure proper
working conditions for all laborers. The labor unions aided in workplace safety and fairness by using a
large group of people to sway greedy business owners in the right direction. The major advancement
in the factory system occurred in the early 20th century with what was called the assembly line. The
assembly line enabled a product being assembled to pass on a mechanized conveyor from one

Police Policing And Community Policing
Community Policing How effective is community policing? Community policing has several different
definitions. In this paper I will prove that community policing is effective by defining, community
policing as the police and citizens coming together to create a safe community, stop crime and resolve
problems and also urgently responding to the community. Throughout many years, the people s view
of community policing have remained the same. There are some valid causes as to why law
enforcement leaders consider that it is time to change the way policing labors so that they are
effectively helping the community. The way that community policing was trained in the past is not
necessarily efficient in today s society. For example, catastrophes in our communities continue to
increase the need for security, citizens loose the feeling of protection and wellbeing, and this can be
fixed by presenting advanced policing strategies. Law enforcement leaders are beginning to recognize
that they must accept the responsibility for the safety of their communities. Community policing is as
a law enforcement tactic enforced to progress a stronger connection between the police and the
community. The fundamental idea following community policing is that the community should be
willingly involved with law enforcement leaders to help resolve problems. While that may seem
exceptionally simple, law enforcement leaders should acknowledge that the community should be
involved in the

3. We give the public what it wants. If people don t like it they can always turn it off.
IMPACT OF
Among all media, movies play a major role in impacting the thinking pattern of the society. The
question is whether the influence is positive or negative?

Studies are finding that boys, like girls, may turn to smoking to lose weight. Even the
Bollywood/Hollywood fashion has a huge impact on the youth. When youngsters see their favorite
actors/actresses wearing fashionable clothes and accessories they imitate them. So, to copy their style
icons, they spend thousands to lakhs of rupees to have the same pair of shoes or dress. They don t
mind spending money, but they want to look just as perfect as their favorite movie star. In this way the
fashion statements set by celebrities lay a negative impact on youngsters. ALCOHOL, DRUGS,
SMOKING: Movies are spoiling the youth and children most because there is the competition
between youths to copy the style of the hero either it was good or bad. Children who watch a lot of
movies featuring alcohol are twice as likely to start drinking compared to other kids who watch
relatively few of such films, according to new research. The more smoking and drinking that young
teens see in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking or binge drink, according to a pair of
new studies. To find out more about movies influence on alcohol use in young teens, researchers
surveyed more than 16,000 adolescents ages 10 to 19. They randomly picked 50 box office hits from a
list of 655 films. They then asked the teens how often they had seen each movie, which was color

Differential Association Theory Differential association theory was Sutherland s major sociological
contribution to criminology; similar in importance to strain theory and social control theory. These
theories all explain deviance in terms of the individual s social relationships. Sutherland s theory
departs from the pathological perspective and biological perspective by attributing the cause of crime
to the social context of individuals. He rejected biological determinism and the extreme individualism
of psychiatry, as well as economic explanations of crime. His search for an alternative understanding
of crime led to the development of differential association theory. In contrast to both classical and
biological theories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Negatively, this means that the learning of criminal behavior is not restricted to the process of
imitation. A person who is seduced, for instance, learns criminal behavior by association, but this
would not be ordinarily described as imitation. 9. While criminal behavior is an expression of general
needs and values, it is not explained by those general needs and values since non criminal behavior is
an expression of the same needs and values. Thieves generally steal in order to secure money, but
likewise honest laborers work in order to money. The attempts to explain criminal behavior by general
drives and values such as the money motive have been, and must completely to be, futile, since they
explain lawful behavior as completely as they explain criminal behavior. They are similar to
respiration, which is necessary for any behavior, but which does not differentiate criminal from
noncriminal behavior. (Sutherland, 1974: 75 76) In summary, he believed that an individual s
associations are determined in a general context of social organization (for instance, family income as
a factor of determining residence of family and in many cases, delinquency rate is largely related to
the rental value of houses) and thus differential group organization as an explanation of various crime
rates is consistent with the differential association theory. (Sutherland, 1974: 77) Much of Sutherland s
theory relied upon the work of Chicago school

To Kill A Mockingbird Parent Child Relationship
The relationship between a parent and a child is an eternal relationship. They both have different
responsibilities for each other. As a parent it is their responsibility to teach his or her child what is
right and what is wrong. They play a vital role in the development of a child s morality.Linda
Poindexter once remarked, The irony of a parent and child relationship is, that at any given moment,
you never know who is teaching whom. This is true in many cases. Everyone can learn different
things from each other at any given time. The parent child relationship can be considered a major
factor in many development domains, including moral domains. Parents use different techniques to

The Effect Of String Function On An Accidental Of A...
One does not need to use words to convey a message. Dots and lines on a page can convey emotion
just as well, if not better. Music can fill in the context where words cannot. The simple switch between
major to minor, an accidental of a natural or a flat can easily show the motion of a piece.
As a cellist for over six years, I wanted to understand the fundamental idea of why notes were audible.
I asked myself, why do I press down on certain parts of the strings on a cello to produce certain notes?
How are sound waves calculated? With these two questions in mind, I dove in with the desire to apply
a different perspective of music.
Diagram 1
One of the earliest discoveries of how string function comes from the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras.
The wavelength and pinches between strings are what differentiate the varying notes. As shown in
Diagram 1, the wavelengths have specific spacing in between, which are directly related to
mathematics. Nodes, or pinches, are strategically and mathematically placed to resonate precise
pitches, and particular ratios are able to be derived from these intervals. For example, an octave
describes two notes that are eight notes apart. In order to create the perfect first octave, the string is
pinched into perfect halves, making the mathematical ratio , as 2 parts are created from the whole with
one pinch. By pinching the string in half, the frequency becomes twice as fast , producing a higher
tone of the same note. One octave higher than an A

My Team s First Robotics Competition Of The Season
It was two in the morning, five hours before my team s first robotics competition of the season. We d
already worked tirelessly, but were planning one last test run before going to bed.
The robot was driving over the ramp when, all of a sudden, it stopped. The tank treads that we had
researched and trusted had snapped in half.
Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked up the robot,
brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had orchestrated a creative solution to the
snapped tread. Watching the way they managed the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a freshman but
I wanted to know what they knew.
Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different ways to cut metal,
how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and how to design mechanisms that would
ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how to document my work in an engineering notebook and
how to explain to judges the way our team operates. As I gained more experience and grew more
committed to the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on Sundays. I was
always eager to keep working.
By my junior year, I was ready to take on a leadership role. That year, as at the start of every season,
all participants in the league watched a video detailing the tasks our robots would need to perform in
the various competitions. The hardest and most valuable of the year s challenges was to design

Our study shows that EU deregulation altered the five competitive forces in European airline industry
and in turn this fostered entrepreneurship and innovation, as a reaction of firms to adapt to the change
in their context. The reaction of Ryanair and SAS through entrepreneurial and innovative behaviour
was different due to the differences in their business model. We argue that the removal of barriers to
new entrants and the increased rivalry between firms were the main forces that fostered
entrepreneurship and innovation. We predict that if further EU deregulation comes (as it is the trend)
this will generate more opportunities to entrepreneurship and innovation like it generated in the past.

Alka Seltzer Research Paper
Alka Seltzer is a medicine that acts as a pain reliever and an antacid. Antacids are used to help
neutralize the acids in the stomach and help treat acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis. The
tablets contain sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and citric acid (C6H8O7). The sodium bicarbonate is a
base that helps neutralize the acids in the stomach, mainly hydrochloric acid (HCl). It does this by the
following reaction: Na3C3H5O7(aq) + 3HCl(aq) H3C3H5O7(aq) + 3NaCl(aq). When the tablets are
dropped into the water, a reaction occurs in which water (H2O), sodium citrate (Na3C6H5O7), and
carbon dioxide (CO2) are formed.

FACTS
Gilbert Bishop was admitted to Laurel Creek Health Care Center on July 23, 2002, after arriving via
ambulance without family present. During that examination, Gilbert communicated to Laurel Creek
staff that he could not use his hands well enough to write or hold a pencil. Gilbert was otherwise
found to be mentally competent. Gilbert s sister, Rachel Combs, arrived after Gilbert, she offered to
sign the admissions forms, but Laurel Creek employees told her that it was their policy to have the
patient s spouse sign the admissions papers if the patient was unable to sign them. Rachel also testified
that Gilbert asked her to get his wife, Anna ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
REASON
Laurel Creek first argues that this is a case of actual agency and that Anna Bishop has actual authority
as Gilbert s agent to sign the admissions paperwork as is therefore bound by the arbitration agreement
therein.
We agree with Laurel Creek that Gilbert created an actual agency relationship between him and his
wife. According to his sister, Rachel, Gilbert specifically asked that his wife be brought to the nursing
home so that she could sign the admissions documents for him, and Anna acted upon that delegation
of authority and signed the admissions papers. This is consistent with the creation of actual authority
as described in the Restatement (Third) of Agency § 2.01, comment c (2006). The Restatement
explains the rationale for the creation of actual agency in three steps. First, the principal manifests
assent to be affected by the agent s action. In the instant case, Gilbert asked that Anna come to the
hospital to sign the papers for him. Second, the agent s actions establish the agent s consent to act on
the principal s behalf. Here, Anna signed all the admissions papers per her husband s request and
therefore consented to act on Gilbert s behalf. Third, by acting within such authority, the agent affects
the principal s legal relations with third parties. Clearly here, Anna s actions affected Gilbert s
relations with Laurel Creek, a third party.
The trial court acknowledged that Gilbert had the

Crime Scene Investigator
Crime Scene Investigation
A place where a crime has taken place and there is evidence all around and now the investigation
begins concerning the crime. Crime Scene Investigation always has a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI),
is a professional and trained to collect evidence, process evidence, examine detail information for the
purpose of the crime that has been committed. The investigator also will work with the law
enforcement officers to solve a crime.

crime has come to the attention of the police, a preliminary investigation is initiated.
Suspect
The object of the preliminary investigation is to find out who can be a suspect or whom is the suspect
of the of the crime whether or not there is enough evidence to begin any action.

Victims of this crime can be of any race, age, gender or nationality. In 2016 alone there are more than
20,500 cases of many missing children. (www.theiacp.org) Comparing murder and human trafficking,
there are a lot of similarity such as it affects every city or state in the United States. Victims of this
crime can also be of any race, age, gender or nationality. Murder is an enormous crime as human
trafficking. The other elements that murder and human trafficking share is that they are both unlawful,
it s done through criminal act or omission. It s done by another human. It is also done to a human, also
it is done with malice aforethought. Murder is the unlawful killing of another without justification or a

The Delivery Of Law Enforcement
Law enforcement agencies could face severe budget cuts if the nation s economy struggles and local
tax revenues drop. The consequences of spending cuts may cost layoffs, reduced services, shuttered
public facilities and badly needed infrastructure improvements pushed back even further (Tameez,
2014). The delivery of law enforcement services will fundamentally change as a result of severe
budget cuts. Hundreds of officers in a single police department could be laid off, which means there
will be fewer officers to respond to calls for service. In similar views, federal agencies must also have
a strategic fiscal budget plan in order to deliver their services efficiently and promptly.
Information sharing between the intelligence community and local law enforcement is crucial during
catastrophic events such as terrorist attacks, natural and man made disasters. When Hurricane Katrina
made landfall in late August of 2005, its destruction caused many deaths and disruption to the
economy. Houston felt Katrina s impact, but we were not badly hit as New Orleans. Many lessons
were learned from Hurricane Katrina and one such example where poor communication and lack of
information sharing between the federal, state and city law enforcements. It is believed that all levels
of government weren t prepared for a catastrophic incident like Katrina. There were lack of planning
and coordination; overlapping of rescue teams was dispatched to the same location while leaving

The Medical Promise Of Embryonic Stem Cells
The Medical Promise of Embryonic Stem Cells
Why should people suffer from diabetes, Alzheimer s, sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and plenty of
other degenerative diseases while the cure lies in our hands? After James Thompson, a developmental
biologist, reported that he had derived the first human embryonic stem cell line (Thomson), the
potential of curing degenerative diseases was revealed. Ph.D. holder and deputy director of FDA s
office of Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies, Stephanie Simek, explains that stem cells are
unspecialized cells (qtd. in FDA Warns About Stem Cell Claims ). In other words, since they are
unspecialized cells, they can ...generate lots of cells and, under the right conditions, become one of the
many cell types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process when stem cells give rise to blood cells, or any other specialized cells, is called
differentiation ( Stem Cell Basics ). Stem Cells ability of differentiation can be targeted and directed to
generate tissue and therefore to cure degenerative diseases (Panno 24 28). However, such medical
promise faces the doubts and gives rise to disputes. In fact, federal funds for stem cell research were
banned under President Bush s administration, but the ban was then lifted by President Obama s
administration (Obama). Despite the different arguments, more medical trials should be conducted
with embryonic stem cells in order to determine whether the medical promise is applicable or far
fetched.
Richard Doeflinger, an official with the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, argues that we must
not sacrifice one class of human being to benefit another (qtd. in Stem Cells ). However, ignoring the
medical promise of embryonic stem cells would end up sacrificing real, living human beings for
microscopic cells. Jean Peduzzi Nelson, the author of Adult Stem Cells Are Already Curing Diseases ,
argues that unlike embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells have already cured diseases. To support his
argument, Nelson narrates the story of Joe Davis Jr. who suffered from a severe sickle cell anemia
since birth. According to Nelson, At the age of two, Joe received an adult stem cell transplant; the

The Impact Of Burlesque And Vaudeville On Stand-Up Comedy
The Impact of Burlesque and Vaudeville on Stand up Comedy
The struggle of the funny performer has remained a symbiosis of drive, jealousy, heartbreak, and
triumph existing then as it exists now. Perhaps the only other constant is comedy s unfailing popularity
K. Nesterkoff, 2016 Richard Pryor, arguably one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, credits
his comedic abilities to many comedians, one being Charlie Chaplin. You may be thinking, how does
Charlie Chaplin, the guy who played The Tramp in silent black and white movies, influence a stand up
comedian like Richard Pryor? Well, you may be surprised to know that all American stand up
comedians are heavily impacted by the performances in the late nineteenth century. During the late
1800 s, vaudeville and burlesque dominated performance venues across the country and developed a
new art form that had never been seen before. Although stand up is one of the only true American art
forms, we cannot forget to credit vaudeville and burlesque performers who paved the way for the rise
of stand up comedy. Believe it or not, nineteenth century burlesque and vaudeville play a major role in
the evolution of what stand up comedy is today. After all, how can we respect the art form of stand up
comedy today without fully understanding how it all began?
Variety Shows In the beginning of the nineteenth century, variety shows boomed all across the nation.

Best Hurricane Shutters
How To Choose The Best Hurricane Shutters For Your Home When you live in an area where
hurricanes are possible, it s a good idea to prepare for one in advance, especially when it comes to
protecting your windows. You don t want to be frantically trying to find plywood and cut it into
window coverings at the last minute. Hurricane shutters are worth the investment since you can have
them already installed and ready to go as soon as you need them. There are a few choices when it
comes to hurricane shutters. Here are some tips for how to choose the best ones for your home.
Shutters That Are Controlled Remotely Many hurricane shutters have to be installed or rolled down
manually. However, you can also buy shutters that operate with a remote or wall switch. These also
have a battery backup so you can operate them even when the power is out. You can also turn your
tablet or smartphone into a remote control and close the shutters if you re away from home. If you
have a vacation home in hurricane country, these shutters would be ideal. They are also a good choice
if you want to open and close them from inside your house so you can peek outside and avoid going
outside in the rain to unlock the shutters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All you have to do when a hurricane approaches is drop the shutters and lock them in place. These can
be made of metal, vinyl, or wood. When the storm passes, the shutters are rolled back to a box above
or to the sides of the windows until they are needed again, or they are propped back up on their legs. If
you don t like the appearance of shutters that roll into boxes, you can get decorative shutters with
louvers instead that add a little shade and glamour to your home when they re not protecting you from
a hurricane. Shutters You Have To

How To Survive Native American Life
Several hundred years ago, Native Americans had to survive in the New World without the creature
comforts we have today. The winters in prehistoric Ohio are historic for being harsh. This shows that
the Native Americans knew exactly how to survive the winter without the abundant resources in today
s society. The three things I would focus on if I had to survive a winter in prehistoric Ohio is shelter,
food and water, and forming a culture with the other people around me. The first thing I would focus
on if I had to survive a winter in prehistoric Ohio is shelter. I would first search for a suitable cave to
live in. It would be easier than building a house from scratch. It provides natural geothermal heating,
plus I would not have to worry about repairs or my shelter breaking down. Obviously, the geothermal
heat would not be enough during the winter, so I would have to make a fire pit within my cave for not
only heat but lighting too. And, since I am in a cave I do not have to worry about burning down my
shelter as well. The one thing I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After I can sustain myself, I can then go find other people and form a culture. This can be done by first
trading with the other natives and then helping each other. We could help each other by hunting
together, working together to find more efficient way of doing daily tasks. Once a trust is formed
between myself and other people we can live together and form a culture that can sustain no only the
winter but several winters in a row. The three things I would focus on if I had to survive a winter in
prehistoric Ohio is shelter, food and water, and forming a culture with the other people around me. I
believe if I could live in a cave, be able to grow and store crops, hunt and fish efficiently, and
eventually form a culture with others around me, I could survive a prehistoric winter in

Buying Feminine Hygiene Products For People Magazine s...
ADVERTISER AND MEDIUM The advertiser for this product is Energizer, who is a manufacturer.
This advertisement was shown in People magazine s July 2015 edition. MARKET SITUATION
Carefree is a lesser known and lesser used brand in comparison to its competitors, so its important for
their ads to really resonate with their target market. Competition in this industry is mainly between
Tampax, Always, and Playtex, which almost leaves Carefree out of the running. Carefree products are
sold in Target, Walmart, and drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Another thing to consider
with this industry are the consumer attitudes towards these products. A lot of women tend to be
embarrassed when buying feminine hygiene products because of the social stigma around periods, but
the fact is that they still have to buy them. So, when the consumers go to the store to purchase these
type of products they ll usually purchase the same product every time because they know it works,
they know where it is in the store, and they know the price, which makes the whole process go
quickly. TARGET MARKET CUSTOMER PROFILE This print ad was published in People
magazine. 70% of people s readers are women, the majority of them falling into the 18 44 age range,
with median age of 38. Most of the women readers are employed, with college degrees. Another
percentage of readers are women with one or more children in their household (42%). Although the
magazine does reach mainly women, the median

  • 2. Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents and my grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live. Some people say that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many generation have been named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim Urban called the generation I live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents lived in was called Generation X or Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some aspects while in other they are very similar. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents generation in Brazil it was normal for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there until they get married or start a new family, different from generation Y the education was very important so not many people left school. Castro was a political leader of Cuba (1959 2008) who transformed his country into the first communist state in the Western Hemisphere. Castro became a symbol of communist revolution in Latin America. Before Fidel Castro took rein Cuba was the island of sin, a society consumed by the illnesses, gambling, the Mafia, and prostitution. In 1969 Cuba changed drastically, but still was mainly known for dance, music, prostitutes, cigars, abortions, resort life, and pornographic movies. Gambling in Cuba meant casino gambling. Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926, near Birán, in Cuba s eastern Oriente Province. He was the third of six children, including his two brothers, Raúl and Ramón; and three sisters, Angela, Emma and Agustina. Castro grew up in wealthy circumstances even though most of Cuba was in poverty. From an early age, Castro showed he was intellectually gifted, but he was also something of a troublemaker and was often more interested in sports than studies. He attended Colegio Dolores in Santiago de Cuba and then El Colegio de Belén in Havana. After his graduation in late 1945, however, Castro entered law school at the University of Havana and became immersed in the climate of Cuban nationalism, anti imperialism and socialism, focusing his energies more exclusively on politics. By 1947, Castro had become increasingly passionate about social justice and he traveled to the Dominican Republic to join an expedition attempting the overthrow of the country s dictator, Rafael Trujillo. Even though the attempt failed he traveled to Columbia and was involved in an attempt to overthrow the government. • 4. Comparing Imagery in Frost s Acquainted with the Night... Imagery in Frost s Acquainted with the Night and Sexton s Her Kind In order to maximize meaning and overall total effect of a piece of work, writers use various literary devices. These techniques enhance the author s work and add a dimension that results in higher reader satisfaction. Throughout the poems I have read this quarter thus far, I have discovered the use of imagery as a prominent source of literary embellishment. In particular the image of night is used in poems Acquainted with the Night, written by Robert Frost, and Her Kind, written by Anne Sexton, to portray a dark and lonely tone. All through both poems there is a dark feeling due to word selection and associations to evil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem Her Kind, by Anne Sexton, the same feeling of loneliness is achieved through association with the night. The image of night has the same quality of being rejected by society, and outcast because of the disconnection with people. Night is seen by the world as a time to sleep and be within ones own thoughts and dreams. For the speaker to be up and about signifies that she is alone while the world sleeps. Therefore she must be lonely. Using night as the setting but not totally describing every little detail, creates a sense of unknown. The witch in this case is spooky and misunderstood and is unable to participate in daily activities so she must take shelter of the night in order to do her evil business. Night allows the concept of a witch to take its full affect. Witches are almost always associated with the night. Especially when it is a wicked witch. Witches are ugly so they must travel at night ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mrs. Das had an affair with one of Mr, Das friend after he found out London Pharmaceutical Company hired him, Bobby was conceived in the afternoon, on a sofa littered with rubber teething toys, after the friend learned that a London pharmaceutical company had hired him, while Ronny cried to be freed from his playpen. She made no protest when the friend touched the small of her back as she was about to make a pot of coffee, then pulled her against his crisp navy suit. He made love to her swiftly, in silence, with an expertise she had never known, without the meaningful expressions and smiles Raj always insisted on afterward. Pg. 64, This shows when Mrs. Das had an affair on Mr. Das and betrayed him. Jhumpa Lahiri includes this betrayal because it is a huge factor in how Mrs. Das acts around Mr. Das. Along with the effect of how Mrs. Das acts towards Mr. Das it is the start of marital discord between them. Mrs. Das, will now to deal with guilt because of what she did to her husband. Mrs ... The collapse of the Weimar Republic can not be seen as solely indebted to the severe economic problems faced during the period of its rule, but consequently it was the economic issues that became a footstep to the ultimate demise of the Republic. Subsequent to Germany s defeat in the First World War and German Emperor Kaiser s abdication from power, the Weimar Republic was proclaimed. The Republic that had emerged from the German Revolution of November 1918 would inevitably fall as a result of numerous issues. However, the extent of which economic problems had in the dissolution of the republic, and how these issues caused or came about due to separate concerns faced by the new democratic system became a major contributing factor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The establishment of the new constitution drawn up on the 11th of August 1919 caused many internal issues within the democratic system as a result of continual economic disaster. Germany was to be a Federal State, with a parliament to be elected every four years following a system of proportional representation. This system faltered due to the amount of political parties (during the rule of the Weimar Republic, there were 21 separate coalitions) and a lack of political census. Economic conditions lead to a polarisation of extremists left and right support. In times of instability it was noted that poor standards of living meant the lower class leaned towards the left wing, while the higher class leaned towards the right due to lack of national pride. The extent of economic issues in Germany caused the middle class and aristocrats to consider political extremities. Consequently this caused huge political divisions in German society, which denied the republic of any political census, resulting in a large amounts of political parties and changes to government. This made it very difficult to establish stability in the republic, or even get laws passed, weakening the effect of the democratic system. The political chaos economic conditions brought about caused many Germans to lose faith in the new democratic system during its initial period of rule. Examples Of Structuralism In I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud I am putting to use a structuralist view upon the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud because it can be related to with simpleness, put down to the fact that it is positioned in the lyrical genre. Structuralism is a theory in which all elements of human culture are thought to be part of a system of signs. Robert Scholes demarcated structuralism as a reaction towards despair and modernism (Scholes, Robert. Structuralism in Literature: An Introduction, 1975). As previously stated, structuralism is a theory in which all elements of human culture are thought to be part of a system of signs. Structuralists are concerned with issues such as form and genre. The reason why I chose to apply a structuralist perspective upon William Wordsworth s poem is due to the fact that that it can be easily interacted with because it is positioned in the lyrical genre. The rhyming scheme is in the form ABABCC. The rhyming couplet evident at the end of each stanza creates an unpretentious break caused by the addition of a new stanza. As a result, the final line of teach stanza contains an additional sense of emphasis. The final line of the poem mentions the show and conveys images of dancing daffodils, a long lasting impression discussed by Wordsworth. The meter of this poem is an iambic tetrameter. The meter creates a rhythm with a musical, song like quality, to which the daffodils may dance. Wordsworth also employs consonance and alliteration to create the sense of rhythm. The form of a poem is of utmost importance to structuralist critics. I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud is twenty four lines long and it features four stanzas with six lines each. In each individual stanza there is a perceptible pattern the first line rhymes with the third line and the second line rhymes with the fourth line. The stanzas finish with the inclusion of a rhyming couplet. By concentrating the first three stanzas on the lake experience and the final on the memory of that experience, Wordsworth amalgamates the content of the poem. It is interesting to note that despite the obvious fact that I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud is built as a sonnet although it is a lyrical poem. Wordsworth employs figurative language such as comparisons, personification, epithets and metaphors so as to express his feelings to the reader. As a sub genre, I Wandered Lonely as ... Sal, Dean and other male characters use descriptive language to portray a woman s looks and demeaning language to characterize the women they encounter. The men also disregard any feelings that the women have while also ignoring any positive qualities they may have. The two women who are the main victims in this novel are Marylou and Camille, and Dean Moriarty is the source of the majority of the mistreatment. To begin, I would not recommend On the Road to anyone who is a feminist. This novel clearly victimizes and objectifies the female characters. Moreover, the fact that these women are not only characters, but real people who experienced mistreatment from these men, can be even more disturbing and offensive to not only feminists, but all females. Marylou is first referred to as his beautiful little sharp chick. The possessive pronoun his refers to Dean; together with a lacking description of the chick aside from her appearance, creates Marylou as simply someone, even something, that belongs to Dean. She is not described by her personality or height of intellect, but instead, her looks. From the beginning, Marylou is denounced to nothing more than a sexual object for Dean to take advantage of. The dissent stressed that the majority missed a critical step in determining whether the Program could constitutionally qualify as a public purpose. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding of GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations that are often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things has remained a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community excellence are often compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP cannot be used as a measure of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into account the health of individuals, their standard of living, quality of education provided to the individuals etc. In this way it is not a good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the development of an economy. There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community in particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored by the concept of GDP. However, one story that really stood out which I could semi relate to, was Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. The main character Cleófilas s story has many similarities to my mother s. While the story doesn t directly relate to me, the parallel events of Cleófilas s and my mother s stories have affected my life in one way or another. Similarly to Cleófilas, my mother experienced domestic violence, isolation from friends and family, as well as a fear of shame towards leaving her husband. Within Cisneris s story, the main character Cleófilas experienced domestic violence just as my mother had in her past. A few years ago, after my parent s had separated, I was talking with my mother; somehow we go on the topic of domestic violence and abuse. She told me about the first time my father hit her. Katie Rose Knoblock Professor Taylor AMH 2010 O1M 6 November 2017 Evolution of the Industrial Revolution Many factories did this by targeting women and children as they could be paid less than men with no repercussions. The workers that were hired to these positions, especially women, were subject to some very harsh work conditions. They were subject to terrible work environments including buildings called sweatshops, which were poorly lit and ventilated for maximum productivity. They were forced to work in dangerous conditions where a person could easily be maimed or even killed if they mishandled the equipment they used for their work. It was not unheard of for the workers to be expected to work as much as 16 hours a day under threats of being fired or even physically abused if they did not complete their work with great speed. Even after all their effort in the workplace, it was not uncommon for a person to be paid as little as a single dollar for their day s efforts. These poor working conditions gave rise to labor unions in the 19th century to insure proper working conditions for all laborers. The labor unions aided in workplace safety and fairness by using a large group of people to sway greedy business owners in the right direction. The major advancement in the factory system occurred in the early 20th century with what was called the assembly line. • 28. Police Policing And Community Policing Community Policing How effective is community policing? Community policing has several different definitions. In this paper I will prove that community policing is effective by defining, community policing as the police and citizens coming together to create a safe community, stop crime and resolve problems and also urgently responding to the community. Throughout many years, the people s view of community policing have remained the same. There are some valid causes as to why law enforcement leaders consider that it is time to change the way policing labors so that they are effectively helping the community. The way that community policing was trained in the past is not necessarily efficient in today s society. For example, catastrophes in our communities continue to increase the need for security, citizens loose the feeling of protection and wellbeing, and this can be fixed by presenting advanced policing strategies. Law enforcement leaders are beginning to recognize that they must accept the responsibility for the safety of their communities. Community policing is as a law enforcement tactic enforced to progress a stronger connection between the police and the community. The fundamental idea following community policing is that the community should be willingly involved with law enforcement leaders to help resolve problems. While that may seem exceptionally simple, law enforcement leaders should acknowledge that the community should be involved in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They don t mind spending money, but they want to look just as perfect as their favorite movie star. In this way the fashion statements set by celebrities lay a negative impact on youngsters. The more smoking and drinking that young teens see in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking or binge drink, according to a pair of new studies. Differential Association Theory Differential association theory was Sutherland s major sociological contribution to criminology; similar in importance to strain theory and social control theory. These theories all explain deviance in terms of the individual s social relationships. Sutherland s theory departs from the pathological perspective and biological perspective by attributing the cause of crime to the social context of individuals. He rejected biological determinism and the extreme individualism of psychiatry, as well as economic explanations of crime. His search for an alternative understanding of crime led to the development of differential association theory. In contrast to both classical and biological theories, ... A person who is seduced, for instance, learns criminal behavior by association, but this would not be ordinarily described as imitation. 9. While criminal behavior is an expression of general needs and values, it is not explained by those general needs and values since non criminal behavior is an expression of the same needs and values. Thieves generally steal in order to secure money, but likewise honest laborers work in order to money. The attempts to explain criminal behavior by general drives and values such as the money motive have been, and must completely to be, futile, since they explain lawful behavior as completely as they explain criminal behavior. • 33. The Effect Of String Function On An Accidental Of A... One does not need to use words to convey a message. Dots and lines on a page can convey emotion just as well, if not better. Music can fill in the context where words cannot. The simple switch between major to minor, an accidental of a natural or a flat can easily show the motion of a piece. As a cellist for over six years, I wanted to understand the fundamental idea of why notes were audible. I asked myself, why do I press down on certain parts of the strings on a cello to produce certain notes? How are sound waves calculated? With these two questions in mind, I dove in with the desire to apply a different perspective of music. Diagram 1 One of the earliest discoveries of how string function comes from the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras. The wavelength and pinches between strings are what differentiate the varying notes. As shown in Diagram 1, the wavelengths have specific spacing in between, which are directly related to mathematics. Nodes, or pinches, are strategically and mathematically placed to resonate precise pitches, and particular ratios are able to be derived from these intervals. For example, an octave describes two notes that are eight notes apart. In order to create the perfect first octave, the string is pinched into perfect halves, making the mathematical ratio , as 2 parts are created from the whole with one pinch. By pinching the string in half, the frequency becomes twice as fast , producing a higher tone of the same note. One octave higher than an A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We d already worked tirelessly, but were planning one last test run before going to bed. The robot was driving over the ramp when, all of a sudden, it stopped. The tank treads that we had researched and trusted had snapped in half. Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked up the robot, brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had orchestrated a creative solution to the snapped tread. Watching the way they managed the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a freshman but I wanted to know what they knew. Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different ways to cut metal, how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and how to design mechanisms that would ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how to document my work in an engineering notebook and how to explain to judges the way our team operates. As I gained more experience and grew more committed to the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on Sundays. I was always eager to keep working. By my junior year, I was ready to take on a leadership role. REASON Laurel Creek first argues that this is a case of actual agency and that Anna Bishop has actual authority as Gilbert s agent to sign the admissions paperwork as is therefore bound by the arbitration agreement therein. We agree with Laurel Creek that Gilbert created an actual agency relationship between him and his wife. According to his sister, Rachel, Gilbert specifically asked that his wife be brought to the nursing home so that she could sign the admissions documents for him, and Anna acted upon that delegation of authority and signed the admissions papers. This is consistent with the creation of actual authority as described in the Restatement (Third) of Agency § 2.01, comment c (2006). The Restatement explains the rationale for the creation of actual agency in three steps. First, the principal manifests assent to be affected by the agent s action. In the instant case, Gilbert asked that Anna come to the hospital to sign the papers for him. Second, the agent s actions establish the agent s consent to act on the principal s behalf. Here, Anna signed all the admissions papers per her husband s request and therefore consented to act on Gilbert s behalf. The winters in prehistoric Ohio are historic for being harsh. This shows that the Native Americans knew exactly how to survive the winter without the abundant resources in today s society. The three things I would focus on if I had to survive a winter in prehistoric Ohio is shelter, food and water, and forming a culture with the other people around me. This advertisement was shown in People magazine s July 2015 edition. MARKET SITUATION Carefree is a lesser known and lesser used brand in comparison to its competitors, so its important for their ads to really resonate with their target market. Competition in this industry is mainly between Tampax, Always, and Playtex, which almost leaves Carefree out of the running. Carefree products are sold in Target, Walmart, and drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Another thing to consider with this industry are the consumer attitudes towards these products. A lot of women tend to be embarrassed when buying feminine hygiene products because of the social stigma around periods, but the fact is that they still have to buy them. So, when the consumers go to the store to purchase these type of products they ll usually purchase the same product every time because they know it works, they know where it is in the store, and they know the price, which makes the whole process go quickly. TARGET MARKET CUSTOMER PROFILE This print ad was published in People magazine. 70% of people s readers are women, the majority of them falling into the 18 44 age range, with median age of 38. Although the magazine does reach mainly women, the median ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
