The Segregated School Systems Throughout The United States
The segregated school systems throughout the United States led to questioning the lawfulness of the
school districts refusal to integrate public schools. Oliver Brown was a representative plaintiff and a
parent of a black child who was rejected by a white school in Topeka, Kansas. On her way to school
every morning, Brown s daughter would pass several white schools before reaching her one room
schoolhouse reserved for schooling the black children. According to Brown, the Kansas school system
was in breech of the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause. Both the facilities and the opportunities
that his daughter might find in her school were inferior without the possibility of ever being equal.
However, the federal district court ruled with the Kansas school board. By referencing the separate but
equal doctrine in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson, the Kansas public schools were equal enough to be
considered constitutional. As black families across the nation searched for equality for their children,
other district courts were also deciding cases based on the rationale separate but equal . Discontent
with the decisions made by the various lower courts, the NAACP, a major civil rights organization,
consolidated cases from Kansas, South Carolina, Virginia, and Delaware and appealed to the Supreme
Court in a case known as Brown v. Board of Education. Through evaluation of segregation s
psychological effects, the protection offered by the Fourteenth Amendment, and the separate

Personal Narrative-The Insanity Of A Video Production Company
If you have ever involved yourself with video production companies you are aware that they can be
frustrating. When I say frustration, the point I m trying to emphasize on is that there are several to
choose from, which makes it difficult and annoying finding the right one. The finality of the
experience will literally create insanity or drinking excessively.
I was in the market for a professional video production company to help with some infomercial
companies. Literally, there are hundreds of companies to select from on the internet. Every single one
of those so called companies promised to do exactly what I wanted. Of course, they ll say anything to
get your business. When in actuality, these companies hire immature employees with no experience,
or knowledge of the task at hand. Yeah, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though I was only concerned with production videos for my infomercial companies, I found
myself intrigued at what other services they were offering. If I ever have the need for another venture I
will be calling them first. By bypassing the headaches in the first place, my life will be so much easier
and give me time to concentrate on what I do excel in.
I almost forgot to include my end results. When I received the finished videos I couldn t contain
myself and my enthusiasm. My videos exceeded far beyond my expectations. I was so excited to get
them up and running. I just knew from the quality and sincere dedication that they were going to be
well received by the public. My infomercial companies are thriving and I am beginning to receive a
lot of positive feedback. Success is just within my grasp; it s hard not to boast about a company who
has created excellence.
Please take my advice, before you go on a mad hunt to find a production company that is not all
cracked up to be what they say they are, first call Vertex Media. I ve provided the companies contact

Real Property Rights And Ownership For The Three Gateway...
OVERVIEW
With a focus on lifestyle luxury brands in exotic destinations and gateway cities around the world, this
assignment analyzes three potential foreign markets to invest in: Italy, India, and Dubai, for Nobu
Hotels. This report will highlight the differences in real property rights and ownership for the three
gateway markets against the United States. Based on this analysis, it is evident that Dubai and Italy
offer the strongest investment opportunities, whereas India s conflicting and demanding laws make its
investment opportunity unpredictable and risky despite its attractive economic growth potential. Table

Swift s A Modeste Proposal
Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
name
English 301
December 3, 20xx
In A Modest Proposal (1729), Jonathan Swift used satire for a double purpose: to attack those that he
considered responsible for the financial situation of Ireland, and in the same time, to push those who
were in a position of power to take rational measures against poverty in Ireland. In his poem, Swift
made use of the image of the Projector; a character whose role is that o designing plans that would
lead to some improvements being made in the society. Swift s narrator in A Modest Proposal is an
Economic Projector who imagines the entire plan from the point of view of a cold and objective
individual. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thus proposes to literally do that to children of poor families: if their families sold them and the
rich bought them, in order to use their skin for clothing, and eat their flesh, the economy would
flourish. His argument is not controversial in shape. It is controversial in nature.
In order to understand the poem as swift intended it to be understood, one must first distinguish
between the author s voice and the narrator s voice. According to Robert Phiddian, the interpretation
of the proposal has always involved awareness that it is not a straight piece of economic projection,
and that swift is operating independently of the narrator, in a covert manner (1996, p.608). This means
that the readers must interpret the poem in two different ways, as an economic proposal and as a
political pamphlet. In other words, the narrator s reality is not the same with the author s reality. The
narrator is serious in his proposal, while the author is not.
The purpose of the poem is obviously rhetorical, and much criticism concerning the poem has focused
around the rhetoric strategies used by the author. However, as David Nokes argued, the key to the
proposal is the proposer (cited in Phiddian 608). The main strategy employed by the author is from
this point of view that of giving a voice to a character that impersonates a man with no moral concerns
whatsoever, a character who is able to act from pure economic level. This creates irony because

Damnation of a Canyon Essay
The Damnation of a Canyon
Not many people know of the used to be 150 mile excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not
many people know how to sail a raft down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact
with nature and the animals that come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on
time and consumed in money. Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He
talks about how it was an environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a
reservoir formed on the border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the
way Glen Canyon was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a
million people, and is one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He stated that it was the difference between life and death. Glen Canyon was alive. Lake Powell is a
graveyard. He really seems to be going out on a limb in saying this extreme of a statement. I think that
he is wrong in saying that. I feel that he is only looking at one side of the story. I would say the
opposite, but for a rhetorical analysis proposes only, I will come from his point of view in researching
that he came to that conclusion under the assumption that the wildlife and nature was more alive then
the life outside of the dam. Lake Powell is a graveyard in such that there is nothing natural about it.
The rocks are pretty and the water is blue. Abbey talks of a term called bathtub ring , it is left on the
canyon walls, after each drawdown of the water level. The park rangers in Glen Canyon consider it to
be not of great importance, and that is one of the only illusions that you look at upon a natural lake. To
some people seeing that effect is more then they have seen or may ever see in their life when it comes
to nature. People come from places where there isn t a lot of wildlife around them. The closest they
get seeing that might just be from a book or a video they saw in school. So what if they dump a ton of
striped bass and rainbow trout into the lake every year. One of those fishes could be the first one ever

The Relationship Between Traditional Orthodox Judaism And...
Conservative Judaism is a major branch from the Religion of Judaism. The followers of Judaism are
monotheistic, meaning that they believe in one god. The focal points of Judaism are the covenants
made with God and the Hebrew Bible. There are three principal denominations of Judaism, including
Reform, Conservative and Orthodox. Reform Jews are the least conservative, ignoring some jewish
law, meanwhile Orthodox Jews uphold the Jewish laws and traditions. Conservative Judaism mediates
the position between traditional Orthodox Judaism and the radicalness of Reform Judaism (Nadell and
Melton 781). Conservative Judaism is a popular denomination because it resembles Reform in that it
espouses a more positive attitude towards modern culture, however it remains committed to the
observance of Jewish law and ceremony (Nadell and Melton 781). Although Conservative Judaism is
prosperous, it has not always been easy for the Conservative Jewish community. When I visited the
Beth Israel synagogue, I became curious about the tradition of Conservative Judaism and decided that
I wanted to learn more through research. The movement of Conservative Judaism began in Germany,
during the nineteenth century, by a rabbi named, Zechariah Frankel (Geffen 454). There was an issue
within the Jewish community on retaining Hebrew as the language of prayer. Frankel called for a more
positive historical Judaism (Golinkin and Panitz 171). This idea included a predisposition to accept the
positive,

The goal of an architect is to design accordingly to the...
The goal of an architect is to design accordingly to the time with an understanding of the relationship
between space and activity. In his essay Space and Events, Bernard Tschumi says, There is no space
without even, no architecture without program. He then continues with, Architecture cannot be
dissociated from the events that happen in it (Tschumi, 139).
Spaces have always been assimilated with past references, which create a type of familiarization and
attachment to the past that prevents time from moving forward. Because of this assumption about the
form, function, and meaning; thus architecture has been restricted by these familiarization and these
assumptions. The history of architecture has been a history of styles. Through ... Show more content

Even though geographical diversity and intellectual pluralism has characterized architecture, it does
not mean that the attempt at discerning broader patterns and longer lines of development should be
abandoned (Curtis, 657). As time proceeds, styles and ideas change, and new paradigms arise,
crystalizing the underlying concerns of that period. In the inner recesses of the mind time is
telescoped; deriving from inspiration from the past while also considering the significance of modern
space, old and new idea are combined resulting in new unexpected results (657). For example in the
Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, Foster abandons the usual notion of stacked floors around a central
core and exploded open it to accommodate a vertical atrium at the center which provided a new vision
of the work space (659). Another example is how Toyo Ito suggests that the skin of a building might
be thought of as a screen upon various lights and shadows are projected (668).This followed Tschumi
s idea of manipulation of the known with its implicit mannerism, which is using things and
simultaneously disbelieving in them (666). While understanding of the relationship between space and
event, the architect must also design accordingly to the time. The influence of phenomenology creates
a familiarization to

Building Elements Of A Successful Team
Proactive Planning
In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the plan to
establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a
team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish
a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing
some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are
held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high
performing.
In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager has
not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid in
successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are expected to
learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and how to correct
them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team of people
collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this case, leaders
are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and coach their
team. Team building is very important as it enhances collaboration. It also creates a greater likelihood
of commitment to the company by its employees and the overall communication

Driving Age Persuasive Speech
ROAR! , went the car as they started it. Many people have different opinions on when teens should be

say that they should keep it at 16 years old. They should keep the driving age at 16 years old because
of freedom , technology , and experience.
The first reason that they should not raise the driving age is because of freedom. Teenagers are always

The Male Superiority Of The Age
Paternal superiority has always been an important factor in society. Paternal superiority is when the
male is the dominant character and feels like he has the upper hand compared to anyone, especially
females. Males often feel like they are the dominant sex because they are assumed to be stronger than
females. Since the formation of organized society, males have been in charge. Males also do not have
the same standard way of acting in society. In history, men have always had more freedom than
women have. This has made women seem like they are not as important as the males. This is how
society has been brought up; the males have continually been in control. Although the modern reader
can infer that Bronte was exaggerating male authority, she is actually reflecting the time period of the
Victorian Era.
Bronte uses several characters to exemplify the male superiority of the age. One character that
portrays the dominance in that time is Edgar. At first glance, anyone would think that Edgar is a well
dressed rich boy who is pampered and does not have to worry about a single thing. Reading further
into the book, one may notice that he assumes a more dominant attitude towards a few people
especially Catherine. He has the audacity to say that she cannot be friends with Heathcliff as well as
Edgar, so she has to choose who she wants to stay with. Edgar is acting jealously and does not want to
share Catherine with Heathcliff; he is afraid that Heathcliff will in some way steal

In the 1900 s there were many social reform movements to help improve wages healthcare education
and sanitation. The term Muckraker was popularized in the 20th century, spearheaded by writer such
as Upton Sinclair, Jack London and frank Norris. They wrote articles in the news exposing the food

to stir up trouble with workers which lead to one of the first Red scares in the United States. I had no

Invisible Cities By Italo Calvino
Italo Calvino s (1923 1985) novel Invisible Cities consists of a number of dialogues between traveller
Marco Polo and the Tartar Emperor Kublai Khan. Traveller Marco Polo tells Kublai Khan tales of the
numerous cities of his empire, which the Khan himself will never visit. The men play with the notion
that an understanding of the world s cities will inform the emperor on how to govern his realm (Bloom
2001). Each city cannot be compared, as they are all radically different from one another. Calvino
explores the concept of cities as a collective construction, made up of the memories, desires and
experiences of its inhabitants. Cities should not be conceived as a unit but rather as the sum of its
inhabitants multiple points of views which, all combined, create a multi faceted perspective (Calvino
1974). Thus, the city is an aggregation of public and private spaces, from which emerges a shared
identity allowing us to live in it. Themes that run throughout the book are desire, memories and signs,
all of which Calvino uses as headings to classify sections of the book. The strong use of imaginative
writing develops the theme of desire within the book. Cities are made up of desires. Polo misses his
homeland, and tells his stories as though each city is female. Thus, the cities become objects of desire.
The theme of desire is male oriented in which the woman is chased. A concept in which is explored
literally, in the city of Zobiede. In Zobiede the street plan is the

Gazing out the summer heat surrounded by the bold skyline, the rest of the city appears flat as if the
skyscrapers are all that stands. The soundtrack of the thriving brightly lit city plays beneath. The
constant high pitched notes of long blaring horns and traffic whisking by being enough to feel
overwhelmed even without the breathtaking view. Dining often at this luxury rooftop, I have been able
to see the unsettling truth, my own rushed reflection.
There is a long row with two small sized black sofa s sitting across from each other in the middle,
there is a glass table set with a flower arrangement long enough to reach from one end of the couch to
the other. With my laptop bag in one hand waiting at the hostess stand, I feel relieved, when I see that
there is seating all the way at the end away from the loud laughing crowd for me to choose. The
hostess has been viewing the arrangement of seating for the restaurant for what seems like forever to
decide where to seat me. I repeatedly look at my watch having reached such a high level of frustration
with waiting for the hostess to pick where she would like to have me seated. Everyone waiting to enter
the restaurant behind me jumps and directs their attention to me as a loud BOOM! Is heard, my hand
slams down on top of the hostess seating chart that she has been studying for the past decade to decide
where I should be seated. Loose papers and pens fly like confetti. Looking her in the eyes and fiercely

8. Is European Union undermining the sovereignty of its individual member states?
In order to give an answer to the question above, it is worth mentioning that the two key points that
this essay will analyse [the EU and the notion of sovereignty] are both really hard to define from just
one point of view, therefore different theories will be taken into account to give a complete and
fulfilling outlook of the effect that the creation of the European Union had given to the concept of
modern sovereignty among its member states. The essay will start with an introduction of the creation,
shaping and then integration of the European Union, it will then move on trying to define what the EU
and sovereignty really are, underlining the changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands were the six founding member
states, the very first ones that progressively pooled their sovereignty to the European Coal and Steel
Community in 1951, signing the Treaty of Paris under Robert Schuman s orders (Mccormick
2008:10). The basic idea was that whoever did not have control over coal and steel production would
not be able to fight a war (EUROPA 2012a). So the spirit of the community embodied the principle
that any war between France and Germany would become not merely unthinkable, but materially
impossible (Pinder 2001:1) because the control over coal and steel would be taken by a supranational
organization. The other reasons were merely economic and the creation of a single market was the
first step to start a complementary process of political unification, which, since it involved the very
intrinsic factor that defines a state sovereignty , was not that immediate and simple in the case of the
EU. In 1957 the Treaty of Rome produced the EEC [establishing the common market , breaking down
the barriers between the EU s national economies and establishing the 4 freedoms: free movement of
goods, free movement of persons, freedom to provide services and free movement of capital] and

freedom in Southern and the Central parts of America. Chile s economy has been constantly
considered as one of the most freely run economies in its 20 year old history of index. It has also been
successful in achieving economic freedom, which is highly impressive at 70. There are 10 economic
freedom concepts, out of which three have been successful in gaining a score of 20 points or above
since 1995. Those three economic freedom concepts are corruption freedom, freedom for investing
and financial ease of freedom. Looking at Chile s high levels of efficient operations, monetary
freedom and business freedom has improved efficiently as well. Chile is considered worldwide leader
in economic freedom. It continues to go by the concept of limited government through public financial
management. Through this concept Chile has been successful in keeping its finance debts and deficits
under control. Chile has actively participated in Trans Pacific partnership negotiations and this further
shows that it has been steadily committed to its trade and business relations.

All Summer In A Day Mood
In the story, All Summer in a day, by Ray Bradbury, the setting helps develop the mood of sadness,
and depression. The author does this by making the setting dark and stormy everyday on venus. The
setting makes the story gloomy at first, but when the sun comes out for one hour, it makes the reader
hopeful, but the main character missed the sun. That makes the reader s mood depressed and sad. The
text states, It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and
filled from one end to the other with rain...(92) This explains that it is always raining on venus, and
the kids have yet to see the real sun, except for the main character, Margot. She has seen the sun when
she was little, and then was taken to mars.

Legalizing Gay Adoption
Legalizing the Adoption of Children by Gay marriage
The adoption of children should be based on finding a home with loving parents. This situation should
not be judged regarding the sexual orientation. Gay marriage is now legal, the next step could be
adopting children without any restrictions whatsoever. The Christian Church and some other religions
overall see this as a wrong doing to humanity, some people believe children might grow up wanting to
be the same. Also, there are many individuals out there in the world who are straight and still mistreat
children, maybe they do not provide the care required to raise their own in a correct way. The adoption
of children by gay people has also been seen as something that is not acceptable, as if ... Show more

There are plenty of disagreements in the United States about what is moral and what is immoral. Some
people believe raising children absent of religion is immoral, yet others who do not practice any
religion can adopt children and be foster parents. Why should this stop gay people from being
adoptive a child? Drinking alcohol could be consider an immoral act, but it does not stop anyone from
being evaluated as a foster parent, adoption should not be based on anybody s sexual orientation. If we
remove all the people who could be considered immoral, we will be left with almost no parents to
adopt children and provide foster care. Most of us agree that it is not right to leave children without a
home when there are plenty of qualified loving parents waiting to raise them. If heterosexual couples
can raise children, gay couples should be given the change to do so too. (J. Michael Bailey, Bobrow,

What Is The Detrimental Nature Of The Prison System
One of the greatest emphases that Victor Hugo enlightens in Les Miserables is the detrimental nature
of the prison system. During the time Les Miserables was penned, a vast amount of issues plagued the
prison system, and many of them are touched on in the novel. The prison system was structurally and
functionally crumbling during the time of Les Miserables; from excessive punishment to skewed
workforce, even the miserable living/working conditions for the convicts. Hugo emphasizes countless
other issues throughout the novel, but these three are constantly referenced and expanded upon. The
primary issue undermining the entire novel, excessive punishment, is the key reason as to why the
prison system is the way it is. Throughout Les Miserables many of the convicts are subject to
excessive punishment. Working in the galleys would not be acceptable in ... Show more content on

Javert has been tailing Jean Valjean ever since he left the galleys a free man. I found myself asking
questions along the lines of What does Javert do all day? Doesn t this guy have anything else to do
except chase a former convict all over France? This frustrated me throughout the novel because
instead of examining the problems with the prison system, we have people wasting years and lots of
time and money pursing a convict that was unfairly sentenced in the first place for a petty crime, and
ended up on death row for something that should have been a fine and maybe one year of jail time at
the maximum. Javert sums this up in his dialogue with Valjean in the movie. Now prisoner 24601,
your time is up and your parole s begun. You know what that means? Yes, it means I m free. No.
Follow to the letter your itinerary, this badge of shame you wear until you die. It warns that you re a

Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization...
The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was
designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research
question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program
would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a
rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in
setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers,
doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole.
To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an
appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused
on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision
analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies
elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the
organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint.
Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence
rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected
children, and vaccine coverage. The

Loss Of Innocence In The Handmaid s Tale
Coming into college I had an established belief system. I had asked myself extremely tough questions
about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have blind spots I
invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was executed in a
manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel Areopagitica, in regard to
purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions on the basis of my beliefs
being able to withstand trials, because truth can be put on trial repeatedly, but if it is really true there
will always be a verdict of innocence. This court metaphor alludes to truth always being true, because
if it is really truth there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess a
desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large amount or
small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her transition from her
previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and power. Her lack of control and
her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this is striving to find control, power,
and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling
empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she
also finds comfort and a sense of stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an
intimate human quality and that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions,
even when that is not necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in
Wisconsin with family members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be
upset, but a way to ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of
transportation train, plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to
control something, yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they
have no control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no
choice, if we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation
becomes more bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this
concept is present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human
quality that

Richard Brannon Generative Reasoning Perspective
This essay, in part, is set out to investigate how, and to what extent Richard Branson s strategic
methods relates to De Wit and Meyer s (2004) description of generative reasoning perspective and
rational reasoning perspective. An analysis based comparison between generative reasoning
perspective and rational reasoning perspective will present arguments on how the methodologies
between the two types of strategic thinking perspectives fuels the debate over which approach to
strategy may not only more effective, but also correlates to Branson s own strategic thinking method.
Secondly, a discussion on whether Richard Branson is a characteristic design thinker as described by
Liedtka will be put forth as well as an examination as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is further argued by advocates of RRP that such reasoning strongly resembles the problem solving
approach of chess grand masters (Simon, 1987). This argument opens up certain views that RRP
revolves around a central theme that when dealing with strategic thinking, deductive and inductive
logic is commonly used.
Yet again with the use of Table 1 (Appendix 1), characteristics on RRP can be recognized. With this
information, we can start to identify to what extent Branson fits in with the RRP model. Arguably,
RRP is seen as more of a figurative way of thinking whereby decisions are based primarily on factual
information. With this understanding, Branson periodically demonstrates a RRP way of strategizing on
how he performs business.
The first clear example of Branson using the RRP is shown in the case study whereby he uses factual
based reasoning in regards to his efforts of expanding the product line of his company to different
areas in the market. Branson used analytical data stating that 96 percent of the United Kingdom
recognized the Virgin logo. Branson used the Virgin logo to help diversify into other currently
booming industries around the United Kingdom and other parts of the world (i.e. book publishing,
computer game development, soft drink manufacturing, cinemas and even financial services).
Arguably Branson would not have endeavored into this mode of expansion so quickly if he had not
known the statistical backing that

Unions And Collective Bargaining Rights
Union and collective bargaining rights are important for improvement as well as maintaining labor
conditions and employment relations and are most certainly essential in international labor. Unions
and collective bargaining rights are designed to promote and ensure our human rights are protected.
This certainly doesn t mean there aren t flaws in the system, however, the intention of unions and
collective bargaining is to safeguard workers, employers as well as the government to make it
harmonious.
Since the National Labor Relations Act was passed in 1935, unions have been in existence. The main
role is to safeguard workers rights, ensure safe work conditions and negotiate for the employees
through collective bargaining. Collective bargaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two sides don t have to reach an agreement, but they always have to bargain in good faith.
Although, neither side is required to make a particular concession, a party that refuses to bend on a

Relations Act forbids employers from interfering with, restraining, or coercing employees in the
exercise of rights relating to organizing, forming, joining or assisting a labor organization for
collective bargaining purposes, or from working together to improve terms and conditions of

last day of the first semester in my third year of my under graduation. Myself came out from the
college to my room and I was feeling little dull that day. Slowly there was a slight increase in my body
temperature that night and I thought it might be a normal fever. It was a tough time to sleep that night
in spite to the rise in my body temperature and even I have suffered with body pains that night. I was
all alone in my room that night and moreover, I am staying about 300 kilometres far away from my
parents to pursue my undergraduate studies. That night passed away and the next day In the morning I
fell totally sick. There after I cannot have enough strength to do my work. On that day I did not go to
my college and there after i made a phone call to my relative who lives in the town called Guntur. He
arrived to my room in the evening and took me to the hospital. I was starving from the morning
because I couldn t have enough strength to cook for myself as I was totally ill on that day. The doctor
prescribed certain Laboratory tests and for the mean time as it became evening he told to take some
medicines that might decrease the intensity of my fever.

Abbey Dvorak sMusic Therapy Support Groups For Cancer...
On average 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime (Canadian Cancer Society,
Canadian Cancer Statistics 2017). A side effect of a cancer diagnosis is often significant stress. Still,
stress is inevitable whether it is a personal or a loved one s sickness. Stress that is not dealt with or is
left to build up can cause many different health problems either with the cancer patients or family
members. These health problems include high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and more (Mayo
Clinic). Music, for many, is a way to cope with these issues because it serves as a relaxation technique
that reduces stress levels and anxiety. Abbey L. Dvorak published her peer reviewed scholarly journal

In her research, the author emphasizes who the experimenter is and their characteristics. She uses

were asked to the participants during the three periods which she analyzed their overall mood. Like
her diagrams that where easy to follow Dvorak gave limited information on what the participants were
asked to determine their mood. This information could have been helpful as the reader could make
their own assumptions on the questions and whether or not they are suitable for the experiment. The
author explains to the readers what type of questions were asked during the beginning, middle and end
point of the experiment (Abbey L. Dvorak 76). However, she neglects to illustrate the exact questions
or similar questions that where asked. By adding a few questions that she might have asked into her

An Urban Body Of Water
An urban body of water is one that is located near an urban area, usually with high population and
industry. These water bodies are often times very polluted and mismanaged because a society benefits
by using it as their dumping grounds or local governments do not have the finances to improve it.
Many times there is a lack of awareness among a society that these acts of mass pollution are even
taking place. In this paper I will compare The Duwamish River in Seattle to Lake Nicaragua in

Textual Critical Problems Of The Old Testament
Deuteronomy 32:8 and Genesis 49:10 are two examples of textual critical problems in the Old
Testament. The phrase sons of God will be examined in Deuteronomy 32:8, and the word Shiloh in
Genesis 49:10. These issues have caused much debate as to how one should interpret these verses in
light of the textual critical problems. This paper will examine both passages and provide solutions to
each of the textual critical issues. Deuteronomy 32:8 Deuteronomy 32:8 has caused controversy
because of the phrase ‫ינב‬ ‫םיהלא‬ or ‫ינב‬ ‫םילא‬ sons of God. Some have postulated that this reading renders
the Israelite religion to be polytheistic instead of monotheistic. Therefore, translators have changed the
Scripture to read sons of Israel (NIV, NASB), children of Israel (KJV), or people of Israel (HCSB).
Dr. Heiser has persuasively argued that the translation sons of God is the correct reading of the
original Hebrew text, and should be translated that way in our English Bibles for a number of reasons.
A few examples will be examined to show that sons of God is the correct translation of Deuteronomy
32:8. First, manuscript evidence is crucial when interpreting a text that has caused there to be textual
criticism. There are more manuscripts that interpret Deuteronomy 32:8 to read sons of Israel, but that
does not mean that should be the correct translation. Dr. Heiser makes it clear that one cannot
determine the meaning of a text by the number of manuscripts. One must evaluate

The Importance Of Discipline And Punishment In Starship...
The Responsibility of Discipline We need to understand the difference between discipline and
punishment. Punishment is what you do to someone; discipline is what you do for someone. ~Zig
Ziglar In the book Starship Troopers, the story begins with a young boy, who joins the armed forces.
He is placed in the MI, mobile infantry, and sent off to boot camp. His training begins at Camp Currie
with over two hundred others. At Camp Currie their Sergeant and leader in discipline was to be
Sergeant Zim. It was Sergeant Zim who oversaw training and who would rebuke the recruits. Captain
Frankle was Sergeant Zim s head in command. When Sergeant Zim encountered a problem, which
rarely occurred, would report to Captain Frankle, who would manage the situation and apply
appropriate punishment. In one particular case a trainee, Ted Hendrick, punched Sergeant Zim and had
to suffer a sentence of ten lashes and bad conduct discharge after a court marshalling. After the court
marshalling the new recruit, Johnnie, overheard Sergeant Zim request Captain Frankle for a transfer.
Captain Frankle proceeded to reprimand Sergeant Zim for allowing Ted Hendrick to hit a Sergeant and
refused Sergeant Zim transfer. Sergeant Zim wanted the transfer because he felt he was responsible for
Ted hitting him. The captain agreed. Over the next weeks Captain Frankle helped instruct the recruits.
By this time most of the recruits had left either because of medical discharge, resignation, or

How Did The Population Change Over Time
U.S population change over time The population of the United States has changed tremendously from
1776 to 1877. Through those years, there were both changes and things that stayed the same. First, the
population itself became much bigger: in 1776 it was estimated around 2.5 million. Then, in 1877 the
population was 46.3 million. From 1790 to 1850 foreign born population went from around 4 million
to about 23 million. Not only a change in numbers, but we also changed in location (which will be

What stayed constant was that the population of whites always stayed at a mass majority compared to
other races. Although, it did go far down. For example, from 1830 to 1850 the percentage went from
98.5% to 90%. What also changed

The Bickerstaff Paper
The Bickerstaff papers begins sometime in 1708, were an almanac, almanac at the time were arguably
the most popular forms of literature. What the almanacs did was predict future events by Astrologers,
usually the upcoming year. The Bickerstaff papers were, in my opinion, the most difficult to

Swift. Swift being frustrated that Partridge s attacks upon the church, decided he would attempt to not

The Sorento is no exception. Drivers will get the benefits of many new tricks of the trade, including a
Surround View Monitor, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Lane
Departure Warning System. Other recent advancements are now standard on select models, such as a
Blind spot Detection System and Rear cross Traffic Alert. Entertainment options on the 2016 Kia

Millennials Are Feeling The Bern
Millennials are feeling the Bern
Of the 30,000 young Democrats participating in the caucuses, there was overwhelming support for
Sanders... Who is Bernie and why is he winning majority of the young voters hearts and votes?
Bernard Sanders also knowns as Bernie Sanders was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1941. Mr.
Sanders graduated from James Madison high school in Brooklyn and spent one year at Brooklyn
College. He then transferred to the University of Chicago, he graduated from there in 1964 and then
bought land in Vermont. His interest in progressives politics peaked in 1971, He went to a meeting of
newly formed Liberty Union Party, a third party alternative to the Democrats and the Republicans. He
left that meeting as the party s candidate for the U.S. Senate, and ended up with two percent of the
vote. Losing didn t stop him, in 1981 Sanders ran for mayor of Burlington, the largest city in the state.
He beat the six term democratic incumbent by 12 votes In 1990 he served in congress as an
independent. Through 2005 he had been re elected seven times. He was the longest serving
independent in the history of the House of Representatives. In April 2015, Bernie Sanders announced
he was entering the race for the 2016 Democratic nomination for presidency. As Bernie began giving
his speeches and the number of listeners grew, his message for a better life drew in the younger
crowds. Our goal should be a society in which all people have a decent standard of living, not

The Quality Improvement Nursing Process
The Quality Improvement nursing process that I have chosen to research is patient safety. I have
chosen to focus specifically on the topic of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI s)
during hospitalization and their preventions. It is estimated that 15 25% of hospitalized patients
receive a urinary catheter throughout their stay, whether or not they need it. A large 80% of all patients
diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) can be attributed to a catheter (Bernard, Hunter, and
Moore, 2012). The bacteria may gain entry into the bladder during insertion of the catheter, during
manipulation of the catheter or drainage system, around the catheter, and after removal. The difference
between men and women regarding UTI s related back to the human anatomy. A man s urethra is 8
inches in length, while a woman s urethra is 1.5 inches in length. Bacteria can quickly and easily make
its way into a woman s bladder. This is why there is a large percent of women UTI s when used in
comparison to men (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2012). Catheter related urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs
because urethral catheters inoculate organisms into the bladder and promote colonization by providing
a surface for bacterial growth. Brusch says, Once a indwelling catheter is placed, the daily incidence
of bacteriuria can be between 3 10%. Another large problem that results CAUTI s is that at times,
catheters are left in a patient longer than necessary. Prolonged use of

Paying NCAAAthletes Essay
Outline
Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to inform my audience about the issue of potentially paying
college athletes so that they may make an informed decision themselves.
Thesis: As the popularity, and revenue continues to grow in college sports, the debate will be taken to
new heights about whether or not college athletes are being exploited, and if they should be
compensated monetarily.
I. (C)The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) defines amateurism as, The conviction
that people should participate in sports as a hobby (for the fun of it) rather than for money. The NCAA
mandates that all college athletes maintain this level of amateurism while in college, however, college
sports have never been more of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b. Throw in all of the gear associated with being a Division I college athlete and you re looking at a
hefty amount of cash being invested in each athlete.
C. Obviously some colleges have higher budgets and higher amounts of athletes than others, so how
do you make sure you pay each athlete equally while still staying above the budget? You can t.
1. Trying to pay a football team alone could plunge a university underneath their budget with an
average of nearly 100 players per team.
2. On top of that, there are 28 more sports with athletes waiting to have their pockets filled with cash.
3. And finally, it takes away funding for other important academic areas of the college.
Transition: The budget just simply isn t there for a university of any size to reasonably pay each and
every athlete so finally I will explain some different ways an NCAA athlete could possibly make some
money.
IV. There are plenty of ways an athlete could make money, but it would require some self marketing
and a little help from the NCAA.
A. A player could seek out additional sponsorships and advertising deals like a professional athlete.
1.The athlete isn t technically making money off their playing ability they re making the money from
the name on the back of their jersey.
B. Opposers of this idea would say that equality plays a factor here as well.
2. Not every athlete is as

Reflection Of Reading
Before I understood the meaning of words or letters, I loved to read. There is a picture of me in my
childhood photo album, where I am sitting in a wagon surrounded by books. I am wearing red plaid
overalls and a bright green shirt, my hair is in pigtails and I am fixated on the book which rests on my
lap. Although I do not remember this moment, I can tell you exactly what I was doing: I was
examining the pictures of the book and making my own story. I was pointing to each individual word
on the page and saying what I thought it was based on the story I created. This was my favorite way to
pass time at this age, staring at pictures and pretending that I could read as if I were an adult. From a
young age, I was fascinated by adults I thought they were in a secret club that I wanted to be a part of.
I would press my head to doors and sneak around to see what was happening behind my back. I saw
reading as my pass into adulthood, that once I could read I would age 18 years and finally be a grown
up. Therefore, from the age of 3 I dedicated myself to reading, I had no understanding of letters,
sounds, or words yet I still had my face in a book. One day, I was with my friend when I excitedly
demonstrated my reading skills. I read the book as I practiced examining the pictures and then running
my finger over the words, imagining what they might say. I tried to remember the way my mom read
me the book before I went to bed each night. The excitement I felt was surreal, I felt smart

  • 2. The Segregated School Systems Throughout The United States The segregated school systems throughout the United States led to questioning the lawfulness of the school districts refusal to integrate public schools. Oliver Brown was a representative plaintiff and a parent of a black child who was rejected by a white school in Topeka, Kansas. On her way to school every morning, Brown s daughter would pass several white schools before reaching her one room schoolhouse reserved for schooling the black children. According to Brown, the Kansas school system was in breech of the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause. Both the facilities and the opportunities that his daughter might find in her school were inferior without the possibility of ever being equal. However, the federal district court ruled with the Kansas school board. By referencing the separate but equal doctrine in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson, the Kansas public schools were equal enough to be considered constitutional. As black families across the nation searched for equality for their children, other district courts were also deciding cases based on the rationale separate but equal . Discontent with the decisions made by the various lower courts, the NAACP, a major civil rights organization, consolidated cases from Kansas, South Carolina, Virginia, and Delaware and appealed to the Supreme Court in a case known as Brown v. Board of Education. Through evaluation of segregation s psychological effects, the protection offered by the Fourteenth Amendment, and the separate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Swift s A Modeste Proposal Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal name English 301 December 3, 20xx In A Modest Proposal (1729), Jonathan Swift used satire for a double purpose: to attack those that he considered responsible for the financial situation of Ireland, and in the same time, to push those who were in a position of power to take rational measures against poverty in Ireland. In his poem, Swift made use of the image of the Projector; a character whose role is that o designing plans that would lead to some improvements being made in the society. He thus proposes to literally do that to children of poor families: if their families sold them and the rich bought them, in order to use their skin for clothing, and eat their flesh, the economy would flourish. His argument is not controversial in shape. It is controversial in nature. In order to understand the poem as swift intended it to be understood, one must first distinguish between the author s voice and the narrator s voice. According to Robert Phiddian, the interpretation of the proposal has always involved awareness that it is not a straight piece of economic projection, and that swift is operating independently of the narrator, in a covert manner (1996, p.608). This means that the readers must interpret the poem in two different ways, as an economic proposal and as a political pamphlet. In other words, the narrator s reality is not the same with the author s reality. The narrator is serious in his proposal, while the author is not. The purpose of the poem is obviously rhetorical, and much criticism concerning the poem has focused around the rhetoric strategies used by the author. However, as David Nokes argued, the key to the proposal is the proposer (cited in Phiddian 608). The main strategy employed by the author is from this point of view that of giving a voice to a character that impersonates a man with no moral concerns whatsoever, a character who is able to act from pure economic level. This creates irony because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not many people know how to sail a raft down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money. Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the border of Utah and Arizona. He really seems to be going out on a limb in saying this extreme of a statement. I think that he is wrong in saying that. I feel that he is only looking at one side of the story. I would say the opposite, but for a rhetorical analysis proposes only, I will come from his point of view in researching that he came to that conclusion under the assumption that the wildlife and nature was more alive then the life outside of the dam. Lake Powell is a graveyard in such that there is nothing natural about it. The rocks are pretty and the water is blue. Abbey talks of a term called bathtub ring , it is left on the canyon walls, after each drawdown of the water level. The park rangers in Glen Canyon consider it to be not of great importance, and that is one of the only illusions that you look at upon a natural lake. • 9. The Relationship Between Traditional Orthodox Judaism And... Conservative Judaism is a major branch from the Religion of Judaism. The followers of Judaism are monotheistic, meaning that they believe in one god. The focal points of Judaism are the covenants made with God and the Hebrew Bible. There are three principal denominations of Judaism, including Reform, Conservative and Orthodox. Reform Jews are the least conservative, ignoring some jewish law, meanwhile Orthodox Jews uphold the Jewish laws and traditions. Conservative Judaism mediates the position between traditional Orthodox Judaism and the radicalness of Reform Judaism (Nadell and Melton 781). Conservative Judaism is a popular denomination because it resembles Reform in that it espouses a more positive attitude towards modern culture, however it remains committed to the observance of Jewish law and ceremony (Nadell and Melton 781). Although Conservative Judaism is prosperous, it has not always been easy for the Conservative Jewish community. When I visited the Beth Israel synagogue, I became curious about the tradition of Conservative Judaism and decided that I wanted to learn more through research. The movement of Conservative Judaism began in Germany, during the nineteenth century, by a rabbi named, Zechariah Frankel (Geffen 454). There was an issue within the Jewish community on retaining Hebrew as the language of prayer. Frankel called for a more positive historical Judaism (Golinkin and Panitz 171). This idea included a predisposition to accept the positive, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his essay Space and Events, Bernard Tschumi says, There is no space without even, no architecture without program. He then continues with, Architecture cannot be dissociated from the events that happen in it (Tschumi, 139). Spaces have always been assimilated with past references, which create a type of familiarization and attachment to the past that prevents time from moving forward. Even though geographical diversity and intellectual pluralism has characterized architecture, it does not mean that the attempt at discerning broader patterns and longer lines of development should be abandoned (Curtis, 657). As time proceeds, styles and ideas change, and new paradigms arise, crystalizing the underlying concerns of that period. In the inner recesses of the mind time is telescoped; deriving from inspiration from the past while also considering the significance of modern space, old and new idea are combined resulting in new unexpected results (657). For example in the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, Foster abandons the usual notion of stacked floors around a central core and exploded open it to accommodate a vertical atrium at the center which provided a new vision of the work space (659). Another example is how Toyo Ito suggests that the skin of a building might be thought of as a screen upon various lights and shadows are projected (668).This followed Tschumi s idea of manipulation of the known with its implicit mannerism, which is using things and simultaneously disbelieving in them (666). • 14. Building Elements Of A Successful Team Proactive Planning In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the plan to establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high performing. In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager has not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid in successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are expected to learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and how to correct them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team of people collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this case, leaders are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and coach their team. • 16. The Male Superiority Of The Age Paternal superiority has always been an important factor in society. Paternal superiority is when the male is the dominant character and feels like he has the upper hand compared to anyone, especially females. Males often feel like they are the dominant sex because they are assumed to be stronger than females. Since the formation of organized society, males have been in charge. Males also do not have the same standard way of acting in society. In history, men have always had more freedom than women have. This has made women seem like they are not as important as the males. This is how society has been brought up; the males have continually been in control. Although the modern reader can infer that Bronte was exaggerating male authority, she is actually reflecting the time period of the Victorian Era. Bronte uses several characters to exemplify the male superiority of the age. One character that portrays the dominance in that time is Edgar. At first glance, anyone would think that Edgar is a well dressed rich boy who is pampered and does not have to worry about a single thing. Reading further into the book, one may notice that he assumes a more dominant attitude towards a few people especially Catherine. He has the audacity to say that she cannot be friends with Heathcliff as well as Edgar, so she has to choose who she wants to stay with. Edgar is acting jealously and does not want to share Catherine with Heathcliff; he is afraid that Heathcliff will in some way steal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Invisible Cities By Italo Calvino Italo Calvino s (1923 1985) novel Invisible Cities consists of a number of dialogues between traveller Marco Polo and the Tartar Emperor Kublai Khan. Traveller Marco Polo tells Kublai Khan tales of the numerous cities of his empire, which the Khan himself will never visit. The men play with the notion that an understanding of the world s cities will inform the emperor on how to govern his realm (Bloom 2001). Each city cannot be compared, as they are all radically different from one another. Calvino explores the concept of cities as a collective construction, made up of the memories, desires and experiences of its inhabitants. Cities should not be conceived as a unit but rather as the sum of its inhabitants multiple points of views which, all combined, create a multi faceted perspective (Calvino 1974). Thus, the city is an aggregation of public and private spaces, from which emerges a shared identity allowing us to live in it. Themes that run throughout the book are desire, memories and signs, all of which Calvino uses as headings to classify sections of the book. The strong use of imaginative writing develops the theme of desire within the book. Cities are made up of desires. Polo misses his homeland, and tells his stories as though each city is female. Thus, the cities become objects of desire. The theme of desire is male oriented in which the woman is chased. A concept in which is explored literally, in the city of Zobiede. The basic idea was that whoever did not have control over coal and steel production would not be able to fight a war (EUROPA 2012a). So the spirit of the community embodied the principle that any war between France and Germany would become not merely unthinkable, but materially impossible (Pinder 2001:1) because the control over coal and steel would be taken by a supranational organization. The other reasons were merely economic and the creation of a single market was the first step to start a complementary process of political unification, which, since it involved the very intrinsic factor that defines a state sovereignty , was not that immediate and simple in the case of the EU. The text states, It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain...(92) This explains that it is always raining on venus, and the kids have yet to see the real sun, except for the main character, Margot. This situation should not be judged regarding the sexual orientation. Gay marriage is now legal, the next step could be adopting children without any restrictions whatsoever. The Christian Church and some other religions overall see this as a wrong doing to humanity, some people believe children might grow up wanting to be the same. Also, there are many individuals out there in the world who are straight and still mistreat children, maybe they do not provide the care required to raise their own in a correct way. Some people believe raising children absent of religion is immoral, yet others who do not practice any religion can adopt children and be foster parents. Why should this stop gay people from being adoptive a child? Drinking alcohol could be consider an immoral act, but it does not stop anyone from being evaluated as a foster parent, adoption should not be based on anybody s sexual orientation. If we remove all the people who could be considered immoral, we will be left with almost no parents to adopt children and provide foster care. Most of us agree that it is not right to leave children without a home when there are plenty of qualified loving parents waiting to raise them. • 27. What Is The Detrimental Nature Of The Prison System One of the greatest emphases that Victor Hugo enlightens in Les Miserables is the detrimental nature of the prison system. During the time Les Miserables was penned, a vast amount of issues plagued the prison system, and many of them are touched on in the novel. The prison system was structurally and functionally crumbling during the time of Les Miserables; from excessive punishment to skewed workforce, even the miserable living/working conditions for the convicts. Hugo emphasizes countless other issues throughout the novel, but these three are constantly referenced and expanded upon. The primary issue undermining the entire novel, excessive punishment, is the key reason as to why the prison system is the way it is. Throughout Les Miserables many of the convicts are subject to excessive punishment. Working in the galleys would not be acceptable in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Javert sums this up in his dialogue with Valjean in the movie. Now prisoner 24601, your time is up and your parole s begun. You know what that means? Yes, it means I m free. • 28. Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization... The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers, doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole. To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint. Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected children, and vaccine coverage. I had asked myself extremely tough questions about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have blind spots I invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was executed in a manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel Areopagitica, in regard to purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions on the basis of my beliefs being able to withstand trials, because truth can be put on trial repeatedly, but if it is really true there will always be a verdict of innocence. Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess a desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large amount or small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her transition from her previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and power. Her lack of control and her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this is striving to find control, power, and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she also finds comfort and a sense of stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an intimate human quality and that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions, even when that is not necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in Wisconsin with family members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be upset, but a way to ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of transportation train, plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to control something, yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they have no control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no choice, if we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation becomes more bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this concept is present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human quality that ... This argument opens up certain views that RRP revolves around a central theme that when dealing with strategic thinking, deductive and inductive logic is commonly used. Yet again with the use of Table 1 (Appendix 1), characteristics on RRP can be recognized. With this information, we can start to identify to what extent Branson fits in with the RRP model. Arguably, RRP is seen as more of a figurative way of thinking whereby decisions are based primarily on factual information. With this understanding, Branson periodically demonstrates a RRP way of strategizing on how he performs business. The first clear example of Branson using the RRP is shown in the case study whereby he uses factual based reasoning in regards to his efforts of expanding the product line of his company to different areas in the market. Branson used analytical data stating that 96 percent of the United Kingdom recognized the Virgin logo. Branson used the Virgin logo to help diversify into other currently booming industries around the United Kingdom and other parts of the world (i.e. book publishing, computer game development, soft drink manufacturing, cinemas and even financial services). The phrase sons of God will be examined in Deuteronomy 32:8, and the word Shiloh in Genesis 49:10. These issues have caused much debate as to how one should interpret these verses in light of the textual critical problems. This paper will examine both passages and provide solutions to each of the textual critical issues. Deuteronomy 32:8 Deuteronomy 32:8 has caused controversy because of the phrase ‫ינב‬ ‫םיהלא‬ or ‫ינב‬ ‫םילא‬ sons of God. Some have postulated that this reading renders the Israelite religion to be polytheistic instead of monotheistic. Therefore, translators have changed the Scripture to read sons of Israel (NIV, NASB), children of Israel (KJV), or people of Israel (HCSB). Dr. Heiser has persuasively argued that the translation sons of God is the correct reading of the original Hebrew text, and should be translated that way in our English Bibles for a number of reasons. A few examples will be examined to show that sons of God is the correct translation of Deuteronomy 32:8. First, manuscript evidence is crucial when interpreting a text that has caused there to be textual criticism. There are more manuscripts that interpret Deuteronomy 32:8 to read sons of Israel, but that does not mean that should be the correct translation. Dr. Heiser makes it clear that one cannot determine the meaning of a text by the number of manuscripts. One must evaluate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is estimated that 15 25% of hospitalized patients receive a urinary catheter throughout their stay, whether or not they need it. A large 80% of all patients diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) can be attributed to a catheter (Bernard, Hunter, and Moore, 2012). The bacteria may gain entry into the bladder during insertion of the catheter, during manipulation of the catheter or drainage system, around the catheter, and after removal. The difference between men and women regarding UTI s related back to the human anatomy. A man s urethra is 8 inches in length, while a woman s urethra is 1.5 inches in length. Bacteria can quickly and easily make its way into a woman s bladder. This is why there is a large percent of women UTI s when used in comparison to men (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2012). Catheter related urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs because urethral catheters inoculate organisms into the bladder and promote colonization by providing a surface for bacterial growth. Brusch says, Once a indwelling catheter is placed, the daily incidence of bacteriuria can be between 3 10%. Another large problem that results CAUTI s is that at times, catheters are left in a patient longer than necessary. Prolonged use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Paying NCAAAthletes Essay Outline Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to inform my audience about the issue of potentially paying college athletes so that they may make an informed decision themselves. Thesis: As the popularity, and revenue continues to grow in college sports, the debate will be taken to new heights about whether or not college athletes are being exploited, and if they should be compensated monetarily. I. (C)The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) defines amateurism as, The conviction that people should participate in sports as a hobby (for the fun of it) rather than for money. The NCAA mandates that all college athletes maintain this level of amateurism while in college, however, college sports have never been more of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... b. Throw in all of the gear associated with being a Division I college athlete and you re looking at a hefty amount of cash being invested in each athlete. C. Obviously some colleges have higher budgets and higher amounts of athletes than others, so how do you make sure you pay each athlete equally while still staying above the budget? You can t. 1. Trying to pay a football team alone could plunge a university underneath their budget with an average of nearly 100 players per team. 2. On top of that, there are 28 more sports with athletes waiting to have their pockets filled with cash. 3. And finally, it takes away funding for other important academic areas of the college. Transition: The budget just simply isn t there for a university of any size to reasonably pay each and every athlete so finally I will explain some different ways an NCAA athlete could possibly make some money. IV. There are plenty of ways an athlete could make money, but it would require some self marketing and a little help from the NCAA. A. A player could seek out additional sponsorships and advertising deals like a professional athlete. 1.The athlete isn t technically making money off their playing ability they re making the money from the name on the back of their jersey. B. Opposers of this idea would say that equality plays a factor here as well.

  • 49. Reflection Of Reading Before I understood the meaning of words or letters, I loved to read. There is a picture of me in my childhood photo album, where I am sitting in a wagon surrounded by books. I am wearing red plaid overalls and a bright green shirt, my hair is in pigtails and I am fixated on the book which rests on my lap. Although I do not remember this moment, I can tell you exactly what I was doing: I was examining the pictures of the book and making my own story. I was pointing to each individual word on the page and saying what I thought it was based on the story I created. This was my favorite way to pass time at this age, staring at pictures and pretending that I could read as if I were an adult. From a young age, I was fascinated by adults I thought they were in a secret club that I wanted to be a part of. I would press my head to doors and sneak around to see what was happening behind my back. I saw reading as my pass into adulthood, that once I could read I would age 18 years and finally be a grown up. Therefore, from the age of 3 I dedicated myself to reading, I had no understanding of letters, sounds, or words yet I still had my face in a book. One day, I was with my friend when I excitedly demonstrated my reading skills. I read the book as I practiced examining the pictures and then running my finger over the words, imagining what they might say. I tried to remember the way my mom read me the book before I went to bed each night. The excitement I felt was surreal, I felt smart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
