Beta Blocker
Hi Shoaib,
Well written paper on beta blockers in controlling hypertension. In my experience, I had seen
more than 80% of patients are prescribed with antihypertensive drugs in their medical chart. A
beta blocker is one of the most common drugs in a geriatric setting especially atenolol. Beta
blockers are the standard of therapy for many cardiovascular conditions and it is the main line of
treatment in decreasing risk of stroke. According to Ladage, Schwinger, and Brixius (2013) beta
blocker was more effective in decreasing mortality and morbidity rate in acute coronary syndrome
patients. Atenolol is a water soluble and had longer half lives with non metabolized actions and
excreted via the kidneys (Ladage et al., 2013). The exercise capacity increases in patients who are
on beta blockers, like bisoprolol, nebivolol, carvedilol (Ladage et al., 2013). A recent meta analysis
study showed patients who are untreated with hypertension, they are at risk of developing chronic
kidney diseases, cardiovascular complications, and cerebrovascular complications (Butt Harvey,
2015). In one study, mainly geriatric population who are taking atenolol had shown greater
mortality rate and increase arterial pressure (Testa et al., 2014). ... Show more content on

Essay On Play Therapy
Play therapy is appropriate for children between 3 12 years old. Aspects that counselors must
consider include whether the child has the capacity to learn, obtain insight, and the ability to
develop a relationship with an adult. The purpose of play therapy relates to exploring and
expressing feelings, gain knowledge about self and others, strengthen problem solving and decision
making skills, in addition to increasing the child s sense of competence and self efficacy. When
counselor s setup space intended for playtherapy they must ensure that the space is comfortable
and private. According to the text, the room should be between 150 200 square feet with washable
walls and floors, sink and bathroom, and storage shelves cabinets and shelves to store toys and
other materials. Additionally, a one way mirror and recording equipment for videotaping is
recommended (Vernon, 2009). Since school counselors work in educational settings where space is
limited and often designed for instructional or administrative use, acquiring a room with a one way
mirror for recording counseling sessions with students may not be conducive.... Show more content

How Did Ancient Greek Culture Influence Ancient American...
People come and go, but their work of art and ideas can flourish for eternity. Art makes history
live forever. It opens up doors to the past and wisdom to the future. Existence in this world
currently, no matter if it s a person or a thing, is all result of the past. Stuff doesn t just pop out of
no where. Historyis part of everything. Everything is a part of history. One of Rome s greatest
philosopher, Marcus Tullius Cicero once said, To be ignorant of what occurred before you were
born is to remain always a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the
life of our ancestors by the records of history. Learn from the pastand fail less.

American s interest in ancient Greek culture develops when they sense that there s a connection
between them: ...the Greek War of Independence against Turkish domination aroused the
sympathy of our citizens, who saw in the Greek struggle for freedom a parallel to our own War
of Independence (Downs 173). The parallelism is that they both have experience of battling for
freedom from a controlling country. Another relation that makes the Americans appreciate the
Greek culture even more is the archeological discovery showing Greece as the birthplace of
democracy: As the Greek Revival style unfolded and developed in the United States it became as
indigenous to the soil of our system of law...and our democratic system of government, which
was founded on the ancient ideal of individual freedom (Downs 176). After studying and getting
hold of the architectural idea and vocabulary, Greek architecture soon becomes America s
national style. The classical look of the Greek architectural are made up of three primary orders:
Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Doric being the oldest and simplest of the three: The Doric order
is characterized by a plain, unadorned column capital and a column that rests directly on the
stylobate of the temple without a base...entablature includes a frieze composed of triglyphs and
metopes. The columns are fluted and are of sturdy, if not stocky, proportions (Becker 1). The
Doric is best describe as the most understated style with a masculine appearance out of the three
orders. Despite the simplest look of the Doric, it is the most popular. The Parthenon, also known
as the epitome of Greek culture, is built under the Doric order. Famous works of the Doric order
in the United States can be seen on the design of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C and the
Justice Hall Building in New York City. Next is the Ionic: notable for its graceful

A Survey Study On How Survey Studies Affects The...
Introduction
One of the primary obstacles in survey studies is often eliciting responses from surveyed
individuals. As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to
statistical analyses, as increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test,
reduce the sampling variability in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected
observations that are needed to perform specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample
sizes are unequivocally better; a truly random, yet representative sample is more important. If one
already has a large, randomly collected and representative sample, increasing the sample size will
not improve the analysis. Our study focuses on how survey topic ... Show more content on

Survey topics will rotate between control, controversial, and neutral during times of data collection.
Methods
Who: We surveyed Vassar students sitting alone at tables at the Retreat, and Vassar students as
they entered and exited the All Campus Dining Center (Deece). We believe that by surveying
individuals from the Retreat and the Deece, we achieved a truly random sample with respect to our
research question. In other words, we do not think that the choice to eat at the Deece or Retreat
directly affects willingness to take a survey.
What: The response rate (Yes/No) to short, anonymous surveys offered on a control, controversial
and neutral topic.
Where: The Retreat and Deece. These areas are well trafficked by most of the Vassar student
population, and we believe that individuals surveyed here are representative of Vassar s student
body with respect to our research question.
When: November 11 and 12 (between 2PM and 4PM)
Why: We are interested in determining if the survey topic (neutral vs. controversial) affects the
number of Vassar students that are willing to participate in that survey.
How: (see methodology for additional information) We went to The Retreat on November 11 for
one hour and asked students sitting alone at tables if they wished to participate in a short,
anonymous survey. Survey topics for the control (no topic), neutral (milk preference), and
controversial (abortion rights) were rotated per student

Symbolism of Nature in Poems
In literature, writers often use symbols of nature to symbolize emotion and reflection. Flowers
may symbolize life as drought may symbolize death and a loss of hope. In the poems The Road
Not Taken, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth
use the shallow image of a flowerand the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in
one s life. Two roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no
one knows where the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there
being many choices in life. The speaker also depicts the two paths with leaves covering both
equally, which shows that both are mysterious and lead to somewhere unknown to the person
traveling it. Also, that no matter what choice is made do not look back, but to keep moving
forward. For example in the poem the speaker says, I took the one less traveled by, and that has
made all the difference. (536) it depicts that the person is picking the path not commonly chosen
by others even if it does not lead to good things. It may be much more difficult, and although it is
going against everyone it has set the speaker apart from others. The woods are used as a symbol
of a passage to temptation and darkness in the poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening .
It is also described as a place of glamour that has diverted the speaker from fulfilling the promise.
The poem uses the horse with the bell attached to it as a

Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy Essay
Globalization is an important term that is partially responsible for an economic revolution that
took place around the world. Theodore Levitt, a former Harvard Business Review editor, coined
the term globalization and used it for the first time in one of his articles in 1983 (Los Angeles
Times magazine, 2006). According to the Business Dictionary, globalizationcan be defined as the
worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration
(businessdictonary.com). China can be considered as an excellent example to demonstrate
globalization. When Deng Xiaoping was elected as the Communist Party leader, he brought about
economic reforms that opened the Chinese economy to the rest of the world and later introduced
itself into the World Trade Organization(WTO) in 2001 (bbc.co.uk, 2006). Hence, expanding the
growth rate of the Chinese economy, which has been constantly rising over the past decade. As
of 2016, China is the second largest economy in the world with a GDP of $12.9 billion USD,
and will continue to grow following the trail the United States (money.cnn.com, 2016). The
emergence of China and its success as a powerful economy in the world can be partially credited
to globalization. The following paper focuses on both the positive and negative ways in which
China has been affected by globalization and its outcome that has placed China to where it is
today. Globalization has greatly helped the Chinese economy to expand in terms of Gross

Summary Of First Missionary Journey
First Missionary Journey
The book of Acts describes how Paul was ministering in Antioch with Barnabas, when he was
directed by the Holy Spirit to be released from his Church duties. The Holy Spirit had another
assignment for Paul, and that was to go and take the Gospel more widely. Some believe that this
notion came from the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. Paul began his first missionary in the
town of Antioch. Throughout Paul s first missionary journey he was accompanied by Barnabas and
Barnabas cousin John Mark.
God gave Paul a mission to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. They traveled from city to city
spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the message was not always being received. It is
really no confirmed certainty on why John Mark eventually left Paul and Barnabas to return to
Jerusalem. The Jews went on record as being in opposition to the Gospel, but Paul kept preaching
the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul saw that the Gentiles were very receptive to the Gospel.
Although many Gentiles accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there were Jews that continued to
display their anger towards the Gospel. There were some Jews that came and stirred up the
crowd at Lystra against Paul and Barnabas. This crowd also stoned and left Paul for dead, but
Paul did not allow that to stop him from preaching the Gospel to the city of Lystra. Lystra and
Derbe proved to be fruitful areas to preach the Gospel, but not without their difficulties. One convert

Theu.s V. Lopez, The United States Supreme Court
I. INTRODUCTION
In 1975, the United State Supreme Court held that state law could provide students a property
interest in their education, but forty years have passed and courts remain uncertain of when such an
interest exists. In Goss v. Lopez, the United States Supreme Court extended due process protections
to a group of high school students in Ohio. The Court determined that Ohio state law provided the
high school students a property interest in their continued enrollment at the school, and that such an
interest was protected under the due process clause. The Goss decision came during a time when a
due process revolution was happening in the United States. During this revolution, the Supreme
Court recognized many new property interests in government benefits as the basis for due process
claims. Since Goss, many students have brought due process claims against their schools, but
lower courts have struggled to answer the question of when a student s interest in education rises to
the level of a property interest under Goss. Lower courts have adopted one of three approaches to
determine whether a student has a property interest in education. Under the first approach, the state
specific approach, courts analyze state law to determine whether state law provides students a
property interest. Under the second approach, the standalone approach, courts rely on Goss as a
basis to provide all students a standalone property interest in education. Under the final

Biomechanic Paper
A study conducted by Toshiki Kobayashi, Madeline L. Singer, Michael S. Orendurff, Fan Gao,
Wayne K. Daly, and K. Bo Foreman and published in the journal of Clinical Biomechanics aimed
to describe the relationship between the plantarflexion resistive moment of an articulated ankle
foot orthosis (AFO), a piece of corrective footwear, and the angles and moments of the ankle and
knee while walking, in order to better aid patients post stroke. The major driving force of the
study is that many patients who have suffered a stroke have resulting difficulties with mobility
due to changes in their gait and muscle strength. This study suggests that there can possibly be a
better designed and more personalized AFO to decrease unpleasant side effects of AFO use, such
as pain and limited mobility. The subjects of the study were ten people who had recently had a
stroke, two were women and eight were men. Additionally, these people had only one leg affected
and were able to safely use all the testing equipment. Each person was first subject to four tests for a
clinical assessment to better understand the subjects. These tests were the Modified Ashworth

The Cause And Causes Of The Spanish Inquisition
The Spanish Inquisition
Introduction
The word Inquisition refers to the tribunal court system used by the Catholic Church to suppress
and punish the heretics. All people who were considered against catholic teachings were called
heretics
The Spanish Inquisition was the prosecuting, trying and killing of all heretics. Clergymen from the
Catholics Church went around and persecuted anybody that questioned the ChurchВґs teachings or
was any other religion. In consequences, all the Protestants, Jews and Muslims from Spain where
considered as heretics and persecuted.

The Effects of the Spanish Inquisition
We identified three principal categories of effects of the Spanish Inquisition: sociological effects,
economical effects and political effects.
Sociological effects
The end of a multicultural framework. Massive conversion of Jews. The elimination of a plural,
open society. Thousands of people were arrested, tortured and executed in spain
Economical effects
Research shows that Spanish regions that were more affected by the Inquisition are associated with
lower economic development ( An Economic Analysis of the Spanish Inquisition s

Essay on Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Gladstone s adoption of interest in Irish affairs in 1867 puzzled many of his contemporaries and
has continued to puzzle historians. Up until 1867 Gladstone had shown very little sympathy
towards the Irish, all his life he had held them in contempt, visiting only once. His mission to pacify
Ireland was surprising and his motives suspect. Many historians believe that Ireland was a cause
through which Gladstone was to unify his divided party. Others have said that it was in reaction to
the agrarian violence raging through Ireland, it was clear that something had to be done. Gladstone
declared that it was his high hope and ardent desire that Ireland would ... Show more content on

It was hoped that this would reduce social unrest provoked by religious discrimination.
Gladstone s plans were courageous; he had no precedent to go by and the task presented
immense difficulties. The Act dissolved the Irish Church s power, it meant that it could no longer
expect tithes from Catholics and C of I dissenters although this did not mean that the Irish were
any better off; the tithes still had to be paid but were now paid to the state rather than the Irish
Church. Despite the fact that the Act solved once and for all the major religious grievance of the
Irish Roman Catholics [1]in practice it made very little difference the lives of most Irishmen. It did
not by any means solve religious differences, Protestants still owned much of the land, and they
still dominated the resented landlord class. The consequences of the act were more symbolic than
practical, it did very little to pacify Ireland.
Most agreed that the key to Ireland s problems lay in the land question. This question of questions
for Ireland (John Devoy) proved much more difficult than church reform due to the complexities
of the Irish Land System and the wider range of interests involved. Lord Kimberley wrote no
measures of any kind can satisfy the Irish: the utmost they can do is to lay the basis for a gradual
improvement . Kimberley s prognostication was very close to the truth. Neither Act actually

Important Function Of The Bha
ABSTRACT
The lower parts of the drill string ranging from Under Reamers, Stabilizers, shocks, Drill bit and
Drill subs as well as Hole openers collectively make up the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA). It can
also be defined as the components of a drill string that are normally located at the bottom of a
wellbore during drilling procedures. Each of the components comes with a special function that
helps drilling engineers to gain a better control during drilling. Other function of a BHA includes,
helping operators to safely and more efficiently controlling the well in its original or intended

This BHA component comes in various types with each kind designed to suit a particular drilling
job. Figure 1 below shows a prototype of a simple BHA setup and also shows the various
components that make up this unit. A drillbit designed for soft or permeable formations will
almost malfunction in harder formation matrixes and vice versa. The Kelly or Top drive provides
the power needed to spin the drill and by so doing bore through the formation by crushing and
breaking the rocks. Sitting atop the drill bits are the drill collars which helps provide the bit with
the needed weight for penetration. These collars are held together by threads and help to reduce
tension in the drill string that houses the Bottom hole assembly. Figure 1. Bottom Hole Assembly

The History And Evolution Of Sony Pictures
The History and Evolution of Sony Pictures The motion picture industry has endowed us an
ample amount of many years of history and excitement throughout America. Without films in
today s social and cultural society, how could we be perceptive to historical events, current
situations, or future expectations? Sony Pictures have come a long way to be where they are
now. To begin, Sony Pictures was founded in 1918 by two brothers by the name of Harry and
Jack Cohn. Harry Cohn was born on the day of July 23, 1891 in New York City. He was given
the most credit of the company throughout his producing years. Jacob Jack Cohn was the oldest
of 4 children that came from an impoverished family in Germany. He was born on October 27,
1889 in New York City. Even though Harry Cohn was noticed more for the fame of the now
Sony Pictures, he could not have done it without the help of his older brother, Jack. There was a
love hate relationship between the two. Jack and Harry didn t get along and had constant feuds
with each other. One serious brawl that happened between the two was that Jack tried to
preempt Harry by taking over the company due to the fact that he felt as if he was the one who led
the company to fame. Jack s plan didn t work due to his death in 1955 at the age of 67. A few years
after, Harry died of a heart attack in 1958. He was 66 years old. To begin their company, Jack and

Siddhartha Gautama The Buddha And His Journey, The Epoch...
The story of Siddhartha Gautama is one of renunciation from a life of privilege and wealth to that
of monastic asceticism, driven by an innate desire to reach enlightenment through the banishment of
suffering and spiritual emptiness (Wattananarong). Gautama left behind wealth and nobility in
order to cease his own suffering and upon achieving his own enlightenment, provided a path for
others to follow. Following his enlightenment, Gautama came to be known as the Buddha and his
journey, the epoch of Buddhism.
Unaccepting of some social and cultural practices of the time, the Buddha was openly critical of
the Hindu Brahman s possessiveness and almost secretive knowledge of the Veda texts; sharing
this knowledge only with their son s, assuring their family s position socially and
spiritually(Wattananarong). Accordingly, he proposed the solution to the cessation of one s
suffering should be available to and for everyone, rather than to an exclusive few based on if one
becomes a Brahma or Outcaste by birth, one becomes either by living well or living badly
(Wattananarong). For this reason, he rejected the caste system predicated on the belief that all
people are equal and have a right to choose how to live their lives, thereby making decisions about
their future and potentially reduce or eliminate their own suffering.
Hence, based on Buddha s rejection of predetermined privilege and entitlement of enlightenment for
some, while denying others, it appears implausible

Cause Of Biodiversity
The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the
world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified
the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the
biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet.
The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of
the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable
species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species
and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new
natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o
Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect,
effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and
abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects
biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the
Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the
activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural
resource in a

Plato s Euthyphro
Our thought process and our framework of how we choose to go about our day are shaped by our
beliefs and morals. What is the difference between the two? How do we choose which one is right?
Plato s Euthyphro dilemma challenges that idea, he asked a timeless question of It s morally good
and God recognizes it as morally good so it s morally good or is it morally good because Godwills it
to be morally good?
We can argue and take the first side that humans have a moral compass and possess the ability to
differentiate what is right or wrong without religion governing them. It can be interpreted that we
can be morally good, so therefore being morally good can be independent of God. God recognizes
the deed as morally good and then approves

George Whitefield And Jonathan Edwards And The Second...
The First Great Awakening (c. 1735 1743) was the development of a religious revival which was
heavily influenced by Calvinist ideals. It was centered around the American Revolution which
was primary focused around the thirteen colonies in which an evangelical Protestant revivalist
wave took the colonies by hold. With this, preachers like George Whitefield, an itinerant
preacher, and Jonathan Edwards, father of the Great Awakening, began to preach to large
bodies of people; spreading their beliefs in emotional ways that touched upon their emotions.
George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards, both well known circuit riders, embedded fear in
people by claiming God had already chosen who is saved by his salvation. The Second Great
Awakening (c.1795 1830) was experienced across the country due to the advancement in the
nation s economic growth. Preachers often spoke emotionally about their message to increase the
reaction in people. Preaches proclaimed that the power of eternal salvation is in the hands of the
person to decided to be saved and avoid eternal damnation. This ideals were closely influenced by
Arminianism which sinfulness is a choice rather than a destiny, appealing to more people because
of its optimistic outlook. The Second Great Awakening sought out the downfall of the old
Calvinist, changing the harsh ideals into something the people reacted positively to. Preachers
would promote new social reforms that included: women s movement, abolishment of slaves, and
etc. Revivalist during the Second Great Awakening focused on a conversion experience within the
heart of the listener. People gathered in camp meetings, large social gathering were priest would
preach 24/7 for 47 days; lead to large numbers of converts due to their energetic/emotional style of
talking. Ultimately, preachers proclaimed salvation to be a choice.
The preaches would publicly advocate, during the First Great Awakening, was that God has already
decided who will live in eternal salvation (heaven). Jonathan Edwards was a huge influence in the
new religious revival (The Great Awakening) by becoming a founding and central figure. He

Calvin Coolidge Beliefs
While drafting out my essay on the values President Coolidge and I share, I began to wonder
what people thought of when they heard Calvin Coolidge . I asked many acquaintances and the
results shocked me. Majority of those that I spoke with about President Coolidge did not know
much about him. They felt as though he was not a good or popular president because they had not
heard much about him during school, unlike other presidents such as President Lincoln and
President Washington. The only thing that came to their mind was that he looked like an
intelligent man and he was known as Silent Cal . I was more than just taken aback by my
findings: I was disappointed. My 30th president stayed within his values and didn t try to be well

This is because without one, you can never have the other. Throughout his autobiography,
President Coolidge wrote about one teacher more than the rest: Charles E. Garman. He wrote
about this man because he wanted to share what he learned from Mr. Garman with his readers.
He related it to something important to him, so might we understand it. When I read about how
President Coolidge felt about his teachers at Black River Academy, I thought I was reading a

Transcendentalism Of Ralph Shildo Emerson And Ralph Waldo...
Transcendentalism was a movement that took place in the nineteenth century. The movement
was mainly literary, with people s writings becoming different. Stating that a new era was at
hand . The movement was centered around other authors, but Ralph Waldo Emerson was a
famous author. He was considered the leader of the movem Emerson s role was being the critic
for young thinkers with idealistic frustration about those who would conform. His writings
would describe that conform to society s ideas were bad and people should do their own thing.
For Emerson, he had beliefs that transcendentalism was a project. SOmething that was
impossible to practice. He saw it more of something that you just do. The only way to have a
friend is to be one. In life having friends can show their worth. Not everyone wants to be alone.
And for those who do not want to be alone, it shows its value to be kind and a friend to someone
just to have one for themselves. Showing loyalty and kindness towards another shows a friend you
care. Thus having them in turn be able to turn into family. Willing to help out whenever and be
there to support. Give them the gift of time as well some attention, because no one may show them
attention. So treating them right will result in them treating you right and being a friend. To be
great is to be misunderstood. When one puts forth so much dedication towards something to be
better than those it shows that have a sense of care towards what they are doing. It

Accounting professionals do important responsibilities beyond preparing financial statements. In a
more critical role, they help managers interpret the statements by comparing data about the firm s
current activities to those for previous periods and to results posted by other companies in the
industry. Fraud, by its very nature, is hidden in the accounting systems of organizations and
therefore a forensic accountant is usually required to unravel the transaction history and reveal what
has actually occurred. As part of this, the forensic accountant is often called upon to quantify the
value of the loss experienced by an organization or individual. Any lost funds are traced from bank
account to bank account to identify where the money( or assets ) being overstated by false
accounting in the financial statements and records. The forensic accountant s role is therefore to
understand the accounting records and show the true nature of the transactions being recorded.
Similarly, forensic accountants are a key part in the investigation

exceptional ability to sell fights with trash talk and back it up in the octagon with knockout after

incredibly high finish rate of 90%. Possibly his most memorable fight was when he knocked out
Jose Aldo for the featherweight championship at UFC 194. Aldo had been undefeated for almost

Anderson Silva is another very exciting fighter. He has finished 26 out of his 33 wins. In his
prime he was extremely dynamic and had an awesome combination of speed and power, he would
often wait for his opponents to attack before counter striking and knocking them out. These
abilities made him one of the most dangerous fighters to set foot in the octagon. Matt Hughes on

The Natural And Physical Inequality
Unavoidably, every person enters the world with a unique set of talents, dispositions and
attributes which lead him or her to perform better or worse than another person in certain realms.
Rousseau calls this natural or physical inequality: one may be stronger, quicker or smarter than
another, and as such able to complete more tasks than another. Rousseau argues that none of this
matters in the state of nature because, similar to animals, mankind concerns itself with self
preservation. Family bonds, or any other sort of organization of a group of people, do not exist
in this state. The complete self sufficiency of each person means nobody needs to exercise
control or domination of any sort over any other person to survive or enjoy a more luxurious
lifestyle. I see him satisfying his hunger under an oak tree, quenching his thirst at the first
stream, finding his bed at the foot of the same tree that supplied his meal; and thus all his needs
are satisfied (Rousseau 47). Perhaps one more adept at finding food, whether by speed or size,
will more easily satisfy his hunger and have more time to rest at the foot of the tree or to enjoy
relations with those passing by. While this does provide an advantage, every person effectively
lives the same sort of life, free of dominion of any sort. Similarly, Smith writes that talents of men
differ on the basis of the realm they most naturally aspire to. While one man may inevitably be
stronger than a second, the same second may

According to an article published in Case Management Advisor (2008), education assists case
managers with being as knowledgeable as possible to identify and coordinate all the resources
that their patients need and continued education is an ethical responsibility of a case manager.
The article also suggests that advocacy is an ethical responsibility of a case manager. When
advocacy is forgotten ethical issues occur. Fraser and Strang (2004) explain that case managers
must be given the tools to allow them to function in their role with confidence and competence
to act as strong advocates for their patients. Support for decision making is also a key component
of case management. Coffman (2001) offers key points from The Code of Professional Conduct
for Case Managers advising that case managers are guided by the principle of autonom. Case
mangers achieve autonomy through advocacy. If case managers are expected to function with
complete autonomy, then case managers require the assusrance that their leader ship will support

The PHOX2B gene encodes a transcription factor that is crucial for the early steps of the
autonomous nervous system development, and its mutations are responsible for the autosomal
dominant Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS). The functional role of PHOX2B
is to control important differentiation steps such as the differentiation of neuroblastoma cells into
chromaffin cells and neuronal cells. Chromaffin cells function to produce high levels of
(nor)adrenalin for secretion into the circulation. However, in neuroblastoma pathogenesis through
missense and frameshift mutations occurring in the PHOX2B gene, the interaction of the PHOX2B
protein with the calcium sensor HPCAL1 is compromised and unusual expression and arrest of the
normal maturation of the sympathetic neurons can occur, leading to immature cells. They are also
therefore resistant to drug induced differentiation and may also be susceptible to secondary
transforming events, such as the amplification of MYCN. Therefore, PHOX2b can be said to act as
an oncogene in the very early stage of the disease. Moreover, (reference) has demonstrated that
PHOX2B is a transcriptional regulator of the ALK gene, implying that overexpression in
neuroblastoma could be dependent on the deregulation of the PHOX2B gene. Cheung et al. 2012,

Hatshepsut Accomplishments
Although the status of women in Egypt was higher than that of other civilizations, the idea of
women ruling as king over Egypt was not liked. She became the first women to become king in
Egyptian history. Leading the way for Cleopatra, Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great. Like many
other Egyptian rulers, her claim to fame was sought through marrying her half brother, Thutmose II.
Hatshepsutwas given the title of King, Pharaohof Egypt; she sought power and strength.
During her reign she started a building program to repair the damage done to the temples from
the Hyksos. A major difference between Hatshepsut and other leaders of Egypt, was her gender.
Hatshepsut was the first female to reign and claimed that she was chosen by the Egyptian god
Amun Ra. She tried to prove her effectiveness by dressing like a man and growing a beard,
however, still referred to herself as the female falcon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She put to effect many routes for trade through sea and expeditions to rebuild temples and saw
that the work was done. Her success was partially seen through the respect that the people had for
her father. Hatshepsut greatest achievement was her mortuary temple at the Deir el Bahri. She
referred to it as Most Sacred of Sacred Places, specifically for its beauty and its color.
When Hatshepsut s husband Thutmose II died, their son, Thutmose III was still of young age. This
allowed for Hatshepsut to have full regency over Egypt. Reigning over 7 years, until her son
became of age. During that time, she titled herself Pharaoh and claimed high status; only allowing
her son to claim a status under her. She thought that she had just as much a right to reign over
Egypt as any other

Homeland Security Bill
The homeland security bill meets the prevention portion of the preparedness cycle by mitigation,
which provides the necessary capabilities to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact
of disasters (Cordner, 2016) mainly through collaboration, in addition to information sharing, threat
recognition, target hardening or risk management, and intervention (Pelfrey, 2012). This applies to
terrorism and transnational crime (intentional acts by people), with hopes to prevent a number of
those acts from occurring; and preventing or reducing harm from natural disasters (hurricanes,
tornados, and earthquakes) by introducing preventive measures, such as people taking the proper
precautions and upgrading buildings. Another target for prevention... Show more content on

Police departments need to develop contingency plans and backup systems to ensure that they can
continue to operate and protect the community during the post disaster recovery period.
Furthermore, the police role in terrorism and disasters recovery is secondary; Federal Emergency
Management Agency, the Red Cross, other charitable organizations, insurance companies, private
businesses, state and local governments, and individuals have a primary responsibility for
community and economic recovery. Moreover, Police were required to support the all hazards
homeland security mission with additional and enhanced equipment and training. Also, as a guide
to homeland security, the police adopted a dual process, which they should have everyday uses and
emergency uses; and regional cooperation should guide purchasing of the most expensive and
specialized equipment. Department of Homeland Security raised new training requirements;
established a Target Capabilities list that identifies what emergency responders and other will need
to do in various types of disasters; and funded the development and delivery of homeland security
related training for police and others, in addition to setting up a training portal. Continual training
needs are planning for terrorism,

The City Of The Great Metropolis
There was a house in the great Metropolis older than the city. Many said that it was older than the
cathedral, and that before the Archangel Michael raised his voice as advocate in the conflict for
God, the house stood there in its evil gloom, defying the cathedral from out its dull eyes.
The house had lived through the time of smoke and soot. Every year which passed over the city
crept, when dying, into this house, until at last the house was a cemetery filled with dead years.
Set into the black wood of the door stood, copper red and mysterious, the seal of Solomon, the
pentagram.
It was said that a magician, who came from the East (and in the track of whom the plague
wandered) had built the house in seven nights. But the masons and ... Show more content on

They died, and no doctor knew the illness. The house resisted its destruction with so great a force
that word of its malignity went out over the borders of the city, spreading far over the land. At
last, there was no honest man who would have ventured to make war against the house. Yes, even
the thieves and the rogues, who were promised remission of their sentence provided they declared
themselves ready to pull down the magician s house, preferred to go to the pillory, or even to the
scaffold, rather than enter the spiteful walls, past the latchless doors, which were sealed with
Solomon s seal.
The little town around the cathedral became a large town and grew into Metropolis, and into the
center of the world.
One day there came to the town a man from far away, who saw the house and said, I want to have
that.
He was initiated into the story of the house. He did not smile. He stood by his resolution. He
bought the house at a very low price, moved in at once and kept it unaltered.
This man was named Rotwang. Few knew him. Only Joh Fredersen knew him very well. It would
have been easier for Joh Fredersen to fight out the quarrel about the cathedral with the sect of
Gothics than to quarrel with Rotwang about the magician s house.
In Metropolis, in this city of reasoned, methodical hurry, very many would go far out of their way
rather than to pass close by Rotwang s house. It hardly reached to the knees of the giants standing

Theory of Knowledge Essay
Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people
prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the
question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a
coherent manner, or is knowledgedeeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation
stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute
knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in
order to gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science
and religion, I can see both sides to the argument.
There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the
systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs.
Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When
facts are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in
a way that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent
synthesis of knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is
almost entirely logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by
piecing together facts that make sense. Scientists cannot change the knowledge they have due

Planet of the Apes
в€
љPlanet of the Apes Planet of the Apes takes the world as we know it and turns it upside down
and in so doing questions almost every belief and value system of mankind. Written and produced
at a time when America and much of the world was in the midst of a cultural change and people
were questioning and protesting everything the screenwriters take make this film a satirical and
thought provoking commentary on the big questions of the era. The Vietnam War, the struggle for
equal treatment of African Americans and a general mindset of questioning religion and traditional
values were the things that made up the American culture of the nineteen sixties. The film
grapples with and makes ant attempt to address most of the issues of the period in which it was
written. Three thousand years into the future man has devolved into a non speaking primitive
being while apes have evolved into intellectual beings capable of rational thought and speech.
Taylor, the captain of the spaceship and tragic hero, speaks his last words before hibernating his
way into the distant future, he states that he is leaving the twentieth century and asks a question,
Tell me, though, does man, that marvel of the universe, that glorious paradox who sent me to the
stars, still make war against his brother ... keep his neighbor s children starving? Taylor, a cynic
and skeptic, sees man as violent and destructive. When he arrives in the future to a world where
apes are supreme the antagonist of the film, Dr.

Celta Assignment 1
Cambridge CELTA assignment: Focus on the learner Part A My student s name is Corrado, he s
42 years old and his L1 is italian. He is an entrepreneur. In fact, he owns a bar where he works
with two friends. However, he doesn t need English at work as I thought. He loves to travel and
that s the main reason for him to learn English: he s been to London many times and he would
like to travel to the US as well and also he likes to organize his own trips so he needs English also
to book hotels and flights online. He s studied English only in school and (he says) with a terrible
teacher who gave him no motivation. When he was travelling, he was always with friends who
knew English very well so he was not led to try to talk himself.... Show more content on

However, the vocabulary he chooses is spelled correctly and most of the times it s appropriate
for the context. Listening: he s very good with gist comprehension, and when he doesn t
understand he s able to ask to repeat or to say something slower. That probably comes from his
ability to communicate effectively and from the habit of travelling. However, again when it
comes to specific use of tenses (such as present continuous used for planned future) he gets lost.
Reading: I ve observed him in class and he seems to not like particularly reading tasks, when he s
doing pair work he starts making up jokes and gets easily distracted. But then when he arrives at
the activity after the reading he enjoys it more and starts concentrate. Generally speaking with
Corrado we have to consider that he s an elementary student and he makes many mistakes
because he tries to use complicated structures for his level such as present perfect and relative
clauses. I think the best thing about Corrado is that he s very enthusiastic and he s a natural
leader in the group so when he likes an activity (which most of the times he does exept maybe for
reading) he s able to draw the whole class. That s why I think me and my colleagues tend to
choose him as our volounteer for demontrations, because he s not afraid of making a fool of
himself and on the contrary he s happy to laugh

  • 2. Beta Blocker Hi Shoaib, Well written paper on beta blockers in controlling hypertension. In my experience, I had seen more than 80% of patients are prescribed with antihypertensive drugs in their medical chart. A beta blocker is one of the most common drugs in a geriatric setting especially atenolol. Beta blockers are the standard of therapy for many cardiovascular conditions and it is the main line of treatment in decreasing risk of stroke. According to Ladage, Schwinger, and Brixius (2013) beta blocker was more effective in decreasing mortality and morbidity rate in acute coronary syndrome patients. Atenolol is a water soluble and had longer half lives with non metabolized actions and excreted via the kidneys (Ladage et al., 2013). The exercise capacity increases in patients who are on beta blockers, like bisoprolol, nebivolol, carvedilol (Ladage et al., 2013). A recent meta analysis study showed patients who are untreated with hypertension, they are at risk of developing chronic kidney diseases, cardiovascular complications, and cerebrovascular complications (Butt Harvey, 2015). In one study, mainly geriatric population who are taking atenolol had shown greater mortality rate and increase arterial pressure (Testa et al., 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Essay On Play Therapy Play therapy is appropriate for children between 3 12 years old. Aspects that counselors must consider include whether the child has the capacity to learn, obtain insight, and the ability to develop a relationship with an adult. The purpose of play therapy relates to exploring and expressing feelings, gain knowledge about self and others, strengthen problem solving and decision making skills, in addition to increasing the child s sense of competence and self efficacy. When counselor s setup space intended for playtherapy they must ensure that the space is comfortable and private. According to the text, the room should be between 150 200 square feet with washable walls and floors, sink and bathroom, and storage shelves cabinets and shelves to store toys and other materials. Additionally, a one way mirror and recording equipment for videotaping is recommended (Vernon, 2009). • 4. How Did Ancient Greek Culture Influence Ancient American... People come and go, but their work of art and ideas can flourish for eternity. Art makes history live forever. It opens up doors to the past and wisdom to the future. Existence in this world currently, no matter if it s a person or a thing, is all result of the past. Stuff doesn t just pop out of no where. Historyis part of everything. Everything is a part of history. One of Rome s greatest philosopher, Marcus Tullius Cicero once said, To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history. Learn from the pastand fail less. Embrace history to prosper in the future. America adopts the ancient Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... American s interest in ancient Greek culture develops when they sense that there s a connection between them: ...the Greek War of Independence against Turkish domination aroused the sympathy of our citizens, who saw in the Greek struggle for freedom a parallel to our own War of Independence (Downs 173). The parallelism is that they both have experience of battling for freedom from a controlling country. Another relation that makes the Americans appreciate the Greek culture even more is the archeological discovery showing Greece as the birthplace of democracy: As the Greek Revival style unfolded and developed in the United States it became as indigenous to the soil of our system of law...and our democratic system of government, which was founded on the ancient ideal of individual freedom (Downs 176). After studying and getting hold of the architectural idea and vocabulary, Greek architecture soon becomes America s national style. The classical look of the Greek architectural are made up of three primary orders: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Doric being the oldest and simplest of the three: The Doric order is characterized by a plain, unadorned column capital and a column that rests directly on the stylobate of the temple without a base...entablature includes a frieze composed of triglyphs and metopes. The columns are fluted and are of sturdy, if not stocky, proportions (Becker 1). The Doric is best describe as the most understated style with a masculine appearance out of the three orders. Despite the simplest look of the Doric, it is the most popular. The Parthenon, also known as the epitome of Greek culture, is built under the Doric order. Famous works of the Doric order in the United States can be seen on the design of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C and the Justice Hall Building in New York City. Next is the Ionic: notable for its graceful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. A Survey Study On How Survey Studies Affects The... Introduction One of the primary obstacles in survey studies is often eliciting responses from surveyed individuals. As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to statistical analyses, as increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test, reduce the sampling variability in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected observations that are needed to perform specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample sizes are unequivocally better; a truly random, yet representative sample is more important. If one already has a large, randomly collected and representative sample, increasing the sample size will not improve the analysis. Our study focuses on how survey topic ... In other words, we do not think that the choice to eat at the Deece or Retreat directly affects willingness to take a survey. • 7. Symbolism of Nature in Poems In literature, writers often use symbols of nature to symbolize emotion and reflection. Flowers may symbolize life as drought may symbolize death and a loss of hope. In the poems The Road Not Taken, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth use the shallow image of a flowerand the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in one s life. Two roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no one knows where the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there being many choices in life. The speaker also depicts the two paths with leaves covering both equally, which shows that both are mysterious and lead to somewhere unknown to the person traveling it. Also, that no matter what choice is made do not look back, but to keep moving forward. For example in the poem the speaker says, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (536) it depicts that the person is picking the path not commonly chosen by others even if it does not lead to good things. It may be much more difficult, and although it is going against everyone it has set the speaker apart from others. The woods are used as a symbol of a passage to temptation and darkness in the poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . It is also described as a place of glamour that has diverted the speaker from fulfilling the promise. The poem uses the horse with the bell attached to it as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy Essay Globalization is an important term that is partially responsible for an economic revolution that took place around the world. Theodore Levitt, a former Harvard Business Review editor, coined the term globalization and used it for the first time in one of his articles in 1983 (Los Angeles Times magazine, 2006). According to the Business Dictionary, globalizationcan be defined as the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration (businessdictonary.com). China can be considered as an excellent example to demonstrate globalization. When Deng Xiaoping was elected as the Communist Party leader, he brought about economic reforms that opened the Chinese economy to the rest of the world and later introduced itself into the World Trade Organization(WTO) in 2001 (bbc.co.uk, 2006). Hence, expanding the growth rate of the Chinese economy, which has been constantly rising over the past decade. As of 2016, China is the second largest economy in the world with a GDP of $12.9 billion USD, and will continue to grow following the trail the United States (money.cnn.com, 2016). The emergence of China and its success as a powerful economy in the world can be partially credited to globalization. The following paper focuses on both the positive and negative ways in which China has been affected by globalization and its outcome that has placed China to where it is today. • 9. Summary Of First Missionary Journey First Missionary Journey The book of Acts describes how Paul was ministering in Antioch with Barnabas, when he was directed by the Holy Spirit to be released from his Church duties. The Holy Spirit had another assignment for Paul, and that was to go and take the Gospel more widely. Some believe that this notion came from the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. Paul began his first missionary in the town of Antioch. Throughout Paul s first missionary journey he was accompanied by Barnabas and Barnabas cousin John Mark. God gave Paul a mission to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. They traveled from city to city spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the message was not always being received. It is really no confirmed certainty on why John Mark eventually left Paul and Barnabas to return to Jerusalem. The Jews went on record as being in opposition to the Gospel, but Paul kept preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul saw that the Gentiles were very receptive to the Gospel. Although many Gentiles accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there were Jews that continued to display their anger towards the Gospel. There were some Jews that came and stirred up the crowd at Lystra against Paul and Barnabas. This crowd also stoned and left Paul for dead, but Paul did not allow that to stop him from preaching the Gospel to the city of Lystra. Lystra and Derbe proved to be fruitful areas to preach the Gospel, but not without their difficulties. One convert at Lystra on this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Theu.s V. Lopez, The United States Supreme Court I. INTRODUCTION In 1975, the United State Supreme Court held that state law could provide students a property interest in their education, but forty years have passed and courts remain uncertain of when such an interest exists. In Goss v. Lopez, the United States Supreme Court extended due process protections to a group of high school students in Ohio. The Court determined that Ohio state law provided the high school students a property interest in their continued enrollment at the school, and that such an interest was protected under the due process clause. The Goss decision came during a time when a due process revolution was happening in the United States. During this revolution, the Supreme Court recognized many new property interests in government benefits as the basis for due process claims. Since Goss, many students have brought due process claims against their schools, but lower courts have struggled to answer the question of when a student s interest in education rises to the level of a property interest under Goss. Lower courts have adopted one of three approaches to determine whether a student has a property interest in education. Under the first approach, the state specific approach, courts analyze state law to determine whether state law provides students a property interest. Under the second approach, the standalone approach, courts rely on Goss as a basis to provide all students a standalone property interest in education. Under the final ... • 12. Biomechanic Paper A study conducted by Toshiki Kobayashi, Madeline L. Singer, Michael S. Orendurff, Fan Gao, Wayne K. Daly, and K. Bo Foreman and published in the journal of Clinical Biomechanics aimed to describe the relationship between the plantarflexion resistive moment of an articulated ankle foot orthosis (AFO), a piece of corrective footwear, and the angles and moments of the ankle and knee while walking, in order to better aid patients post stroke. The major driving force of the study is that many patients who have suffered a stroke have resulting difficulties with mobility due to changes in their gait and muscle strength. This study suggests that there can possibly be a better designed and more personalized AFO to decrease unpleasant side effects of AFO use, such as pain and limited mobility. The subjects of the study were ten people who had recently had a stroke, two were women and eight were men. Additionally, these people had only one leg affected and were able to safely use all the testing equipment. Essay on Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland Gladstone s adoption of interest in Irish affairs in 1867 puzzled many of his contemporaries and has continued to puzzle historians. Up until 1867 Gladstone had shown very little sympathy towards the Irish, all his life he had held them in contempt, visiting only once. His mission to pacify Ireland was surprising and his motives suspect. Many historians believe that Ireland was a cause through which Gladstone was to unify his divided party. Others have said that it was in reaction to the agrarian violence raging through Ireland, it was clear that something had to be done. The Act dissolved the Irish Church s power, it meant that it could no longer expect tithes from Catholics and C of I dissenters although this did not mean that the Irish were any better off; the tithes still had to be paid but were now paid to the state rather than the Irish Church. Despite the fact that the Act solved once and for all the major religious grievance of the Irish Roman Catholics [1]in practice it made very little difference the lives of most Irishmen. It did not by any means solve religious differences, Protestants still owned much of the land, and they still dominated the resented landlord class. The consequences of the act were more symbolic than practical, it did very little to pacify Ireland. Most agreed that the key to Ireland s problems lay in the land question. This question of questions for Ireland (John Devoy) proved much more difficult than church reform due to the complexities of the Irish Land System and the wider range of interests involved. Lord Kimberley wrote no measures of any kind can satisfy the Irish: the utmost they can do is to lay the basis for a gradual improvement . Kimberley s prognostication was very close to the truth. • 22. Siddhartha Gautama The Buddha And His Journey, The Epoch... The story of Siddhartha Gautama is one of renunciation from a life of privilege and wealth to that of monastic asceticism, driven by an innate desire to reach enlightenment through the banishment of suffering and spiritual emptiness (Wattananarong). Gautama left behind wealth and nobility in order to cease his own suffering and upon achieving his own enlightenment, provided a path for others to follow. Following his enlightenment, Gautama came to be known as the Buddha and his journey, the epoch of Buddhism. Unaccepting of some social and cultural practices of the time, the Buddha was openly critical of the Hindu Brahman s possessiveness and almost secretive knowledge of the Veda texts; sharing this knowledge only with their son s, assuring their family s position socially and spiritually(Wattananarong). Accordingly, he proposed the solution to the cessation of one s suffering should be available to and for everyone, rather than to an exclusive few based on if one becomes a Brahma or Outcaste by birth, one becomes either by living well or living badly (Wattananarong). For this reason, he rejected the caste system predicated on the belief that all people are equal and have a right to choose how to live their lives, thereby making decisions about their future and potentially reduce or eliminate their own suffering. Hence, based on Buddha s rejection of predetermined privilege and entitlement of enlightenment for some, while denying others, it appears implausible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cause Of Biodiversity The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet. The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect, effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural resource in a ... Plato s Euthyphro dilemma challenges that idea, he asked a timeless question of It s morally good and God recognizes it as morally good so it s morally good or is it morally good because Godwills it to be morally good? We can argue and take the first side that humans have a moral compass and possess the ability to differentiate what is right or wrong without religion governing them. • 34. The Natural And Physical Inequality Unavoidably, every person enters the world with a unique set of talents, dispositions and attributes which lead him or her to perform better or worse than another person in certain realms. Rousseau calls this natural or physical inequality: one may be stronger, quicker or smarter than another, and as such able to complete more tasks than another. Rousseau argues that none of this matters in the state of nature because, similar to animals, mankind concerns itself with self preservation. Family bonds, or any other sort of organization of a group of people, do not exist in this state. The complete self sufficiency of each person means nobody needs to exercise control or domination of any sort over any other person to survive or enjoy a more luxurious lifestyle. I see him satisfying his hunger under an oak tree, quenching his thirst at the first stream, finding his bed at the foot of the same tree that supplied his meal; and thus all his needs are satisfied (Rousseau 47). Perhaps one more adept at finding food, whether by speed or size, will more easily satisfy his hunger and have more time to rest at the foot of the tree or to enjoy relations with those passing by. While this does provide an advantage, every person effectively lives the same sort of life, free of dominion of any sort. Similarly, Smith writes that talents of men differ on the basis of the realm they most naturally aspire to. While one man may inevitably be stronger than a second, the same second may ... For the first time, composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II seamlessly integrated plot, character, music, and dance into a modern musical production starting a new genre of musical, which is often called musical theater or book musical. Show Boatalso brought serious themes that left the audience unable to react the way they had to the previous Broadway musicals. For the first time, there was a breakthrough in racial integration.... The article also suggests that advocacy is an ethical responsibility of a case manager. When advocacy is forgotten ethical issues occur. Fraser and Strang (2004) explain that case managers must be given the tools to allow them to function in their role with confidence and competence to act as strong advocates for their patients. Support for decision making is also a key component of case management. Coffman (2001) offers key points from The Code of Professional Conduct for Case Managers advising that case managers are guided by the principle of autonom. Case mangers achieve autonomy through advocacy. If case managers are expected to function with complete autonomy, then case managers require the assusrance that their leader ship will support them when difficult decisions have to be made, (Fraser and Strang, 2004). The PHOX2B gene encodes a transcription factor that is crucial for the early steps of the autonomous nervous system development, and its mutations are responsible for the autosomal dominant Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS). The functional role of PHOX2B is to control important differentiation steps such as the differentiation of neuroblastoma cells into chromaffin cells and neuronal cells. Chromaffin cells function to produce high levels of (nor)adrenalin for secretion into the circulation. However, in neuroblastoma pathogenesis through missense and frameshift mutations occurring in the PHOX2B gene, the interaction of the PHOX2B protein with the calcium sensor HPCAL1 is compromised and unusual expression and arrest of the normal maturation of the sympathetic neurons can occur, leading to immature cells. They are also therefore resistant to drug induced differentiation and may also be susceptible to secondary transforming events, such as the amplification of MYCN. Therefore, PHOX2b can be said to act as an oncogene in the very early stage of the disease. Moreover, (reference) has demonstrated that PHOX2B is a transcriptional regulator of the ALK gene, implying that overexpression in neuroblastoma could be dependent on the deregulation of the PHOX2B gene. Many said that it was older than the cathedral, and that before the Archangel Michael raised his voice as advocate in the conflict for God, the house stood there in its evil gloom, defying the cathedral from out its dull eyes. The house had lived through the time of smoke and soot. Every year which passed over the city crept, when dying, into this house, until at last the house was a cemetery filled with dead years. Set into the black wood of the door stood, copper red and mysterious, the seal of Solomon, the pentagram. Yes, even the thieves and the rogues, who were promised remission of their sentence provided they declared themselves ready to pull down the magician s house, preferred to go to the pillory, or even to the scaffold, rather than enter the spiteful walls, past the latchless doors, which were sealed with Solomon s seal. The little town around the cathedral became a large town and grew into Metropolis, and into the center of the world. One day there came to the town a man from far away, who saw the house and said, I want to have that. He was initiated into the story of the house. He did not smile. He stood by his resolution. He bought the house at a very low price, moved in at once and kept it unaltered. This man was named Rotwang. Few knew him. Only Joh Fredersen knew him very well. • 49. Theory of Knowledge Essay Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a coherent manner, or is knowledgedeeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in order to gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science and religion, I can see both sides to the argument. There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs. Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When facts are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in a way that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent synthesis of knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is almost entirely logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by piecing together facts that make sense.
