Beowulf Character Analysis
The Great Motivator
(An analysis of Beowulf s Motivations) Are everyone s motivations to become a hero pure? This
question can be hard to answer depending on the hero. Spidermans motivations for saving an innocent
child were pure, but what about people suffering from hero syndrome? A syndrome, that has become a
recent phenomenon. This syndrome makes people seek heroism or recognition by creating desperate
situations that they resolve in order to become a hero. As common as this syndrome is today, it was
not a common syndrome in the tenth century. In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Burton Raffel, a
mighty warrior named Beowulf fights three terrible monsters. Beowulf is a hero of the tenth century.

In Beowulf s lifetime, he killed three terrible monsters. One of these monsters was a great fire
breathing dragon that was hurting his people. The other two monsters were killing people in a
different kingdom. Beowulf is a great warrior and went to assist the other kingdom. Throughout the
epic poem, there is a theme of how will people remember you once you die? This is important to
Beowulf because he needed to set a good example to the warriors, and leave a legacy for once he was
dead. After Beowulf dies in the story, it reads, Crying that no better king had ever lived, no price so
mild, no man so open to his people, so deserving of praise. (867 869) This is Beowulf s warriors
mourning over his death. He had set such a great example to the warriors on how to be a true warrior
that they wept over his death. They have been extremely mournful since the greatest example, they
had ever seen had died. Beowulf s motivation of becoming an example to the Anglo Saxons before he
died through being a great warrior and king was fulfilled. The example that Beowulf left became a
legacy to the Anglo Saxon warriors. Beowulf was an individual that others aspired to be like. The
motivation of Beowulf s to be an example to all the Anglo Saxon warriors is pure.
Another motivation for Beowulf is that he needed to save his people, even if it meant sacrificing his
own life. With his last fight

Dual Language Personal Statement
As a dual immersion educator of Latino students, I believe that my students language and cultures
should be woven into their education, just as language and culture are woven into the very fabric of
their beings. My students deserve an education that reflects the diverse experiences and skills that they
bring from home. I strive to build on these strengths every day so that my students are prepared to be
bilingual and biliterate professionals, leaders, and global citizens.
It is because I believe so strongly that my students deserve a high quality, bilingual education, that I
am interested in the Dual Language Immersion certificate program. This program would allow me to
develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create engaging instruction that maximizes both student
language production and content knowledge. Through this program, I hope to gain an understanding
of language acquisition in both English and Spanish so that I can help students create bridges between
the two languages. In developing this metalinguistic awareness among my students, I will allow them
to fully unlock the potential of each language. As I learn to improve my language instruction, I will
ensure that all of my students gain the skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When teaching language and content at the same time, every minute of instruction is important, and it
is my hope that this certificate program will help me design instruction that maximizes every moment

Direct Democracy And Representative Democracy In The...
Direct Democracy is one type of politic, and also direct democracies have good part for USA. People
may like the people who like help the citizen. Direct democracy means is a form of democracy in
which people decide policy initiatives directly, and direct democracy places all power in the hands of
the individual. In this time, we know about representative democracy is dominant in USA right now.
The representative democracy means, is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected
officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy Nearly all modern western
style democracies are types of representative democracies ,So I think would use in United States.
The first reason is one people to do the decision is not good for citizen. The second reason is direct
democracy are more legitimacy; this is because more people can consider or care about the law. The
third reason is technology can let government not corruption, which means people will make better
life and decision than before. First, the advantage of the direct democracy is that most people can
make do the own vote. Currently when country have problem, congress will make the decision,
because there are the representatives in the country. This means representatives chooses what they

The Effectiveness Of Abstinence Only Sex Education
Everyone has their own way of raising children. This sometimes causes problems while deciding on
what children should learn in school. A child s upbringing is vital in determining what they will grow
up to be. It is hard enough to raise a child, but it is even harder when you have to watch society as
well. In today s age there are a lot of things that parents cannot shield their child from seeing that used
to be easy to hide. So much can be easily accessed through the touch of a finger. Which is why
children need more education on what is happening in the world now. Schools are the safest place to
talk to children about how the times have changed. While some schools cater to religion being taught

entity behind the curriculum encourages students age 4 and up to have open conversations regarding
sex, love, and relationships. The Netherlands government have even made it a law for all primary
students to have some form of sexual education. The teachers mandated to enact this curriculum have
administrative freedom as long as they include key concepts such as sexual assertiveness and sexual
diversity. These key concepts were chosen with hopes that it will enrich the students with the skills to
later on protect them against sexual coercion, intimidation, and abuse. Thanks to social media there
have been negative connotations in regards to sexual activity. One of the curriculums main goals is to
show students that sexuality can consisted of intimacy, respect, and safety. Melker says The system

diversity and sexual assertiveness. That means encouraging respect for all sexual preferences and
helping students develop skills to protect against sexual coercion, intimidation and abuse (Melker,

Shaka s Legacy Of The Zulu Nation
Shaka kaSenzangakhona was born in 1787 to a Zulu chief, Senzangakhona, and an orphaned princess
from the small Elangeni clan, Nandi. A man born out of wedlock managed to turn a small insignificant
chiefdom who labelled themselves as people of the Heavens into a formidable force to be reckoned
with even till this day. The Zulu nation and its people owe lot to Shaka the Great, he built a nation
whose numbers were few than two thousands and who neither powerful they were mere sheep. With
the introduction of Shaka the Great, Dingiswayo vision of having a united nation of all Ngnui
speaking people was possible. However the growth of the Zulu nation has to be attributed to Shaka
military organisation that incorporated regiments from defeated tribes and in return those tribes
pledged their support and loyalty to his ever growing empire and did not suffer attacks provide they
paid homage. This system was used by the Roman conquerors, however with Shaka the Great the
notation of bloodshed and tyrant, dictator, despoiler, destroyer, murderer, savage, barbarian made
famous by Hollywood and early white settlers and European historians who had an ignorant view on
Africa and could not possibly believe that a black man could match up to leaders such as Alexander
the Great, Julius Caesar, Attila the Hun, Napoleon and could have a significant impact on our world

Residential Life Sets The Tone For Ones College Experience
As the year comes to an end so will many students experience in the residence halls. Residential life
sets the tone for ones college experience and with four different places to live means four different
experiences to have had this year. Name: Mollie Merino Hometown: Denver, Colorado Residence
Hall: Cate Center Major: International Studies Merino shared her experiences in the dorms with 16
other girls in one bathroom saying, we became really close right off the bat . For me the experience of
living in Cate has been really positive, just because it s given me the opportunity to meet so many
people. Which coming from out of state was a really unique and cool opportunity . At the start of the
year Merinos biggest fear was she would hate it and not doing well here. My biggest fear was that I
wasn t going to be able to cut it out here. That I wasn t going to be liked, that I wasn t going to have
friends, and that I wasn t going to do well , she said. Merino said, the option of going home was one I
wasn t going to let myself have. I didn t want to be that person who talked about leaving and then
turned around and came back . Next year Merino will be an RA at Headington Hall. She says I think
the cultures are really similar, the buildings themselves are pretty different, obviously Cates a little bit
older, a little bit less luxurious than Headington . In Cate, it s a really small community, I pretty much

Mis589 Wk4 Mini-Case Mega Corp
MIS589_WK4_Mini case MegaCorp_PC
Questions:
MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm that operates 5 factories in Dallas, 4 factories in Los Angeles,
and 5 factories in Albany, New York. It operates a tightly connected order management system that
coordinates orders, raw materials, and inventory across all 14 factories. What type of WAN
architecture and WAN service would you recommend? Why?
Recommendations:
When designing a WAN, numerous factors must be considered. Organizations attempting to connect
multiple factories or offices and remote personnel must take into account a number of variables that
will impact overall costs and network functionality. When designing and implementing wide area
networks (WANs) that integrate voice, video, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So therefore, based off the information provided, I would recommend a packet switched architecture,
or more specifically a Frame relay with a CIR 45 Mbps WAN service. Frame Relay is packet switched
data link layer protocol that handles multiple virtual circuits using High Level Data Link Control
(HDLC) encapsulation between connected devices. (Cisco, 2005) In many cases, Frame Relay is more
efficient than X.25 and generally less expensive than ATM. Also the data provided does not suggest
that MegaCorp specifically has needs for the extensive QoS information that ATM provides that
would enable the setting of very precise priorities among different types of transmissions such as high
priority for voice and video and lower priority for email. If the company were a consulting firm with a
high propensity for needs on bandwidth because of video conferencing or high bandwidth requiring
applications then perhaps ATM architecture with a T1 or T3 WAN service might be more suitable.
Even though MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm recommending Ethernet services might prove to
be too expensive of a proposal as well and thus causing us to lose the project. The cost associated to
having each factory connected by fiber optic cables to the provider s city wide MAN backbone plus
the cost of the Ethernet switch might not be justified by the company s bandwidth needs.

Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay
Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically and
socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the devastating Civil
War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such as the Civil Rights Act
of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that of the southern blacks, into
a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals allowed Federal power to
encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep South, however, not without
some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of Thaddaeus Stevens impressive plan for
economic reforms. This desire to firmly transform the South into an accepting and stable territory is
what sets the Radical Congressional Plan apart from that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the passing of the Civil Rights Bill and later the Fourteenth Amendment secured both
citizenship and the basic rights (excluding suffrage) for the Freedmen and therefore tempering some of
the worst features of the horrible Black Codes. In addition to this, the passing of the Fourteenth
Amendment required that previous Confederate states ratify it in order to become part of the Union
again, further securing and protecting an endangered race. In continuation of the Radicals plan to
reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only guaranteed black
suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be capable of amending their
state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was rash in the eyes of the
entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for
those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their

The Pros And Cons Of Entitlement Theory
Basically Sen (1981), founded Entitlement theory on the assumption that the system under
consideration is an economy with private ownership and exchange in form of trade, exchange between
people and production and between man and nature. However, he also accepted social benefits as
entitlement relations. The theory is useful to explain poverty effects for different people at household
level with disaggregation of differences among the group in the population and people even at the
same household (Lenhardt, 2013). Hence, analysis using this theory implicates resources allocation
between households. Remittances being one external resources can have effects in the final analysis
using Entitlement Theory.
Ideally, there are strong linkages between poverty and environment also explicated in the Entitlement
Theory of poverty. Entitlement can be defined as collective outcome of environmental resources
package that the human capital used to produce, own and have power on that particular resource as an
individual or as a member of a given community or economic group. All have ability to use those
resources package ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It ignores cultural issues, which are similarly important with the legal system. However, entitlement
approach needs adjusting to new dynamics of contemporary analysis of poverty (Rubin, 2009).
In spite of those criticisms, the theory can be useful for analysing poverty and remittances especially
rural poverty since remittances are believed to be one of issues influencing entitlement and ownership.
Remittances can be used to buy assets. By owning assets, especially productive assets, it increases
chances for a individual or household to create wealth and it is widely agreed to be a crucial factor in
escaping and reduce chances to be trapped into poverty (Miller et. al.,

Lab Report Combustion Of Alcohols
In this experiment four alcohols in a series were burned to find the amount of heat absorbed per
second. The alcohols burnt were Ethanol (CH4O), Propanol(C3H8O), Butanol (C4H10O) and
Pentanol (C5H12O). Their flames heated up a calorimeter filled with water. This was incomplete
combustion due to the lab conditions. Incomplete combustion occurs when the supply of air or oxygen
is poor. ( BBC GCSE Bitesize: Combustion , 2017). Complete combustion gives off more energy as
heat and is ideal but was unlikely under the test conditions. Complete combustion requires a decent
supply of oxygen to react with. If these conditions aren t met incomplete combustion occurs and water

Originally it was planned to cover the calorimeter and heat shield with foil to insulate heat. This idea
was used throughout the experiment but in different ways. Then used a circular piece of styrofoam
over the heat shield and taped insulation tape around it and the heat shield as a lid. By this point a
water calorimeter found better results compared to a copper block calorimeter. Using a copper
calorimeter usually provides more accurate results and lower percentage errors. In the top of the

the calorimeter is necessary to keep it from boiling and shooting out of the calorimeter. Stirring also

the change. Most of the clinic providers were not computer savvy, so they were afraid to use
computers, they preferred paper record instead. To receive the government funding the organization
had to incorporate the new government policies by transitioning into the electronic health record
(EHR) by bring in the qualified personnel to implement the process. Management exercise their power
and hiring several qualified individuals to come in and support this transition. As the application

Management job was to motivate the employees and eliminate the fear that they had of making this

Financial Analysis Of Radioshack s Financial Stability
Financial Analysis
RadioShack s financial stability has been a much debated topic in the electronic retail store industry. It
has only recently realized that its old formula has not translated well into the current market. Part of its
plan to become an active competing member in its industry relies on several factors within the
company that can be analyzed, modified using a financial analysis. The financial ratios will let them
identify their problem areas in comparison to their industry competitors.
Ratio Analysis The return on capital employed (ROCE) ratio is a profitability ratio that measures how
well profits are being generated based on capital employed. RadioShack s ROCE dropped down to
34% in 2013 in comparison to 10% in 2012. For every dollar of capital employed, RadioShack is
losing $0.34. The dramatic dip stems from 2012 s positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT)
of 155.1 million dollars to 2013 s EBIT of 344 million dollars (see Appendix A for financial statement
data). Capital employed is determined by subtracting current liabilities from total assets. In 2013,
capital employed decreased by 79 million dollars. ROCE is used to view the long term profitability of
firms ( Financial Dictionary ). A more in depth trend analysis done over several years would need to
be done to determine the longevity of RadioShack. Return on sales (ROS) is determined by dividing
operating profit, an interchangeable term with EBIT, by sales. RadioShack experienced a 14%

Difference Between Animation And European Animation
This modernization era, animations become a common thing to the modern people. There is a lot of
animation in this era from television series, films, and even in music video and animation also comes
with different types from 2D animation to 3D animation, stop motion animation and also Computer

The Eastern European animation studios usually work for the government and focusing more to the

focus on the people behaviors during that time. This can be seen in the Aarman Studio s works that
have many hidden message on their works that based on people behavior or even propaganda during
that time. Next, their technique of animation use different style in Eastern Animation use puppet

plasticine for their stop motion animation. In addition, Western Animation also uses pixalization
technique on their animations. Eastern Europe creates their work with a high quality animation and is
also a beneficiary of the global expansion in animation. But one of the disadvantages of Eastern
Europe is low labor costs, and it benefits from work subcontracted from other territories. Lastly, there
is a downfall to various Eastern European animation studios during the revolution and transformation

Child Prostitution in Asia
Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults. There
was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the Middle Ages
and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered marriageable age.
Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the world of adults.
However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and childhood is a time for
innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was rightly seen as barbaric and
archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive adulthood. Physical and emotional
abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type of abuse characterized by sexual
activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of children leads to abnormal
development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to violence and often continuing the
chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to commit sexual acts before they are
physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over
the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a profitable business for perpetrators. Child
prostitution is illegal all over the world, but in some countries the laws against child prostitution and
the use of underage people for sexual interactions are lax and often go unenforced. The World

American Literature And Performance Art
Feminism, in Canada, was present as early as the nineteenth century, with the first wave of the
feminist movement, and his been continually explored through Canadian literature and performance
art as a result, ever since. Audrey Thomas, a reputable and well recognized Canadian author, has been
exploring feminism and the lives of women in her writing since the beginning of her career
(Thompson, 2007). In her short story, Bear Country, Thomas explores the impact of violence towards
women, on feminist performing artist, Wilma. As is frequently made the subject of feminist
discussion, the survival and well being of women in today s male dominated society depends highly
on remaining ignorant to the sexism and violence directed towards them. This will be further explored
through examining the conflicts, motivations, and actions of Thomas protagonist Wilma, in her
popular short story Bear Country. To begin, Wilma is a young British Columbian and performance
artist attempting to learn french due to a recent relocation to Montreal. Wilma is fascinated by playing
with both french and english in her work, using it as a method of communicating the impact of sexism
and misogyny on women. The main conflict of the story begins, however, when Wilma must take a
french class at l École Polytechnique recently after the massacre on December 6th, 1989, in which 14
women were killed (Bindel, 2012). Understandably, Wilma is afraid of taking a class in the same

The purpose of assessment can vary giving rise to the various type of assessment namely:
1.1.1 Initial assessment: Given prior to learner attending a class, helps to establish an agreed starting
point for the learner. Derrick and Gawn (2010) assert that effective initial assessment amongst other

Within my organization, the diagnostic assessment designed by the Department for Education and
Skills is used with all learners. However, a major setback is that there is no assessment of speaking
and listening. I have found it useful as there are direct links to curriculum areas for development. This
helps to establish Individual learning Plans. Although as a group, there may be established learning
goals, the diagnostic assessment facilitates the tutor s ability to produce differentiating schemes of
work and lesson plans which will take into account Size or number of things the student is expected to
learn; Time allocated: It is expected that students who learn faster will need a shorter time to complete
classroom activities; Level of support :the amount of personal assistance required; Output: all learners

After completing one year of college, I moved on to work and then getting marriage and raising
children. In sixteen years, I had only worked at two jobs which I personally loved. I got hired as the
administrative assistant in the optometry office. The other is the civil and structural engineering firm
that hired me as the design technician. For both offices, I had worked closely with my coworkers to
deliver the products that meet the needs of the customers. At the optometry office, I helped office
members organize the patients files and to answer the phone. When the office was crowded, I patiently
called healthcare insurance to verify their vision care and explained their coverages, assisted them to
fill out the check up form, and had them on a visual field test before the optometrist do the
examination for their eyes. After the patient s eyes had checked, either they want me to help them

South Carolina State Flag Essay
The history and culture of the state flag The south and especially the state of South Carolina is a place
where tradition and heritage is almost as important as the people that live in it. It is these cultural
inclinations that bring certain groups together. And for this reason the South Carolina state flag is a
symbol that represents the long lasting history that this state is known for. A lot of stress has been
brought to South Carolina about its flags and its history, but history is exactly what it is. The symbolic
meaning behind this flag brings a sense of state pride and cultural awareness as it is extremely
important to understand where you came from to figure out where you will be going. Seeing that the

The first state flag was actually shown and presented by South Carolina stamp act protesters in 1765.
The banner that the protesters displayed did indeed have not one but three white crescents on a blue
background. Colonel William Moultrie in 1775 was asked by the South Carolina voters to design a
banner for the use of South Carolina State Troops. Moultrie decided to approach the flag with a
simplistic and direct design that displayed the crescent on a blue field. The new flag was the same blue
color of the soldier s uniforms and the silver crescent was the symbol that the soldiers wore on the
front of their caps. The crescent moon was not the only form of symbolism used for the state flag also
the flag has a palmetto tree, which is to high importance and relevance to the state of South Carolina.
The Palmetto tree, which is the South Carolina State Tree, was added because of the use it had in the
defense of Sullivan s Island against an attack in 1776 during the American Revolution. British ships
were not able to take down the walls of the fort which were built by Palmetto logs. The cannonballs
would eventually have no effect on the fort because the soft palmetto tree would absorb the impact of
the shock given by the cannonball and simply fall of. The trees were a huge factor in the winning of

Grade-Level Meeting Experience
Ms. Olsen was the leader of the grade level meeting that I attended. The meeting was held before
school and all of the Kindergarten teachers were present. At first they disused old business, such as the
school wide carnival that had been held last week and the money that they earned from it. Then they
went on to discuss the notes that Ms. Olsen brought back with her from the faculty meeting. In these
notes there was information not only bout the Kindergarten department, but also about things that
were coming up around the school that may impact on the Kindergarten class. There were no
disagreements in the meeting, it went very smoothly and efficiently. Each teacher had a chance to
share information or to ask questions about the information given out. At this time they also had time
to address any other issues that may have come up since the last meeting.

A Brief Note On Companies And The Largest Ever Consumer...
Case Study #2: Maxxed Out: TJX Companies and the Largest Ever Consumer Data Breach
There are five components to the operations security process that companies use to analyze. These five
modules provide a company a full analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities, and threats of their data and
how to mitigate them. This process identifies all the critical information the company or organization
have such a credit card information like TJX had on their main server. Identifying this information is
crucial so the business knows what valuable assets, or data is being stored. If a company does not
recognize this material, the material is unprotected.
Once the information has been identified, the organization or enterprise will complete an analysis ...

Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which
costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA security protocol, the risks
could have been small.
There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network
wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access 2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2 provides
the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced Encryption
Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a hacker months,
even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have two separate
networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with terms and
conditions.
For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect
with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers and
device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an alternative
to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports, inventory, and
strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to safeguard all the data
being processed throughout the business day.

Similarities Between A Clockwork Orange And A Man For All...
Joseph Heller s Catch 22, Antony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange and Robert Bolt s A Man For All
Seasons reflect similarities and differences in characteristics of postmodernism through their
respective portrayals of themes and purpose.
The above will be proved by first giving a clarification of what postmodernism is and by looking at
prominent characteristics that may be associated with this literary era. The way in which the novels
and the play reflect similarities and differences to postmodern literature will be discussed by referring
to themes such as dystopian societies and the use of black humour, satire and irony to emphasize the
purpose of each text.

This theme is present in Catch 22, A Clockwork Orange and A Man For All Seasons. According to
Ryan (2014), a dystopia is a society that has been corrupted by basic human flaws and is a location
where people live dehumanized and fearful lives. One of the most prominent characteristics of a
dystopian society is the presence of a totalitarian dictatorship (Akman, 2013). According to Friedrich
and Brzezinski (1965), a totalitarian dictatorship exists when a government exercises absolute control
over individuals and enforces a lifestyle onto people that lulls them into obedience. Both the plots of
Catch 22 and A Man For All Seasons revolve around the biddings of a totalitarian state. In Catch 22,
the state uses regulations to create a bureaucratic dystopian control. Yossarian and other soldiers are
forced to complete a number of missions before they may return home: The colonel wants fifty
missions (Heller, 1994:24). The state keeps the soldiers at bay by increasing the number of missions
every time: The colonel now wants all of you to fly fifty five missions. (Heller, 1994:67). In A Man

The Effect of the Instant Replay on NFL Officials Essay
The Effect of the Instant Replay on NFL Officials The NFL can vote to keep instant replay out of the
game every year, but the owners will never get rid of it. That s because like it or not, the NFL has
instant replay. It comes courtesy of television and Jumbotron. And it s leaving the leagues officials
vulnerable to widespread and immediate second guessing from fans, coaches and players a net inside
every stadium. The officials, in a matter speaking, are left working without. Seemingly on the verge of
returning instant replay to the game earlier in the week, the owners at their annual meetings rejected
the plan on Wednesday by three votes. The problem: Each time a coach challenged a call and
requested a replay, it costs the team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if the did, enough serious fans carry portable TVs with them in the stands. They can see the
network replays and listen to some coach turned analyst gripe that the coach on the field shouldn t be
expected to live with such horrible, amateurish calls . So officials will have to live with it, like they do
in other sports. With the history of a first failed attempt in the way and the fact that coaches will not
give up a timeout to challenge a call, the league is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Without
giving up a timeout the game will run too long, as it did before, and they know they can t give free
reign to challenge every call. What the league must do is simple. First, keep instant replay out of the
game and end this debate. Let the human element decide the outcome. The tight end who drops the
ball in the end zone doesn t get a second chance. Why should the official? We ve seen what happened
when officials had big brother watching. They became tentative. They also were involved in a good
number of calls which couldn t be conclusively determined from a replay. The game was delayed by
the review. Second, the league must make officials full time employees. The money it spends on the
gaudy commissioner s party at the Super Bowl could probably pay for all the salaries. Right now,
officials, according to the NFL, receive roughly from $1,600 to $4,000 a game, depended on length of
service. Pay them a realistic annual wage so that no

American Born Chinese By Gene Luen Yang
I have really not had the opportunity to read graphic narratives or novels, comic books or anime. It
was really interesting to read this week s chosen book which was a graphic novel titles American Born
Chinese. I was really excited to actually see the story of the Monkey King because growing up as a
child that was one of the favorite T.V shows that I truly enjoyed from the start to the end of each
episode. After reading this book, I have really given much appreciation to the authors of graphic
novels or narratives. The story in the book American Born Chinese, is mainly about Jin but has other
stories as well within the book. It initially starts with story of the Monkey King, and then it switches to
Jin s story in the second chapter. The story then switches to Danny s story with a repetition of the

Being the largest online trading company, eBay has launched websites across the world, including
thirty other countries in addition to its original U.S. website. China, with its large online market, is one
of these countries. In 2003, after its cooperation with Eachnet, the first C2C online company in China,
eBay became the largest online trading company in China, controlled 90 percent of the Chinese C2C
market (Zazaian, 2006). The success continued until Taobao, a completely free online C2C platform,

Also, eBay has lowered listing fee a lot since 2005, but this didn t slow down Taobao s growth.
Therefore, free listing is not the key reason for Taobao s success. Indeed, feeling they are benefiting,
customers may even willing to pay.
Target Market
The first action for both eBay and Taobao in China is to identify their target markets. When eBay
launched in China, it identified its target customers as those well educated, familiar with the Internet,
earning a monthly payment over 3,000 RMB, and 20 40 years old (Chen et al., 2007). Indicated by
Shixiong Wu, CEO of eBay China, these mainstream customers are very important to eBay as they
help with the healthy growth of electronic market (as cited in Chen et al., 2007). On the other side of
the Chinese online market, Taobao decided to focus on Chinese customers who are between 20 and 30
years old with good education levels, after analyzing China s C2C market for four months. They
believe that in a decade, these online shoppers will become mainstream consumers who will influence
the buying habits of the whole country (Alibaba, 2006). Comparing the target markets of eBay and
Taobao, it is clear that though they all target at young people, Taobao s target market is much broader
and includes students, while eBay s target customers are professionals who have salaries. Shown by
the survey results, in 2007, student buyers made up a quarter of all customers,

Malcolm X was a Symbol of the Civil Rights Movement
Misunderstood
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
Malcolm X
The 1920 s, or the Roaring Twenties , was a time in American history described as the Wild West .
Prohibition brought controversy and anarchy to the once civilized American society, with mobs and
gangs at the peak of their power with leaders such as Al Capone supplying alcohol and guns to the
public. This was also a time of heightened racial segregation, with boundaries being set such as only
white bathrooms and schools. Malcolm (X) Little was born in this time period, on the 19th of May,
1925, in Northeast Omaha (The Humanities of Malcolm X). Growing up in humble surroundings, with
the constant battle with segregation and hate, defined Malcolm as a person and as a leader. With
racism growing, Malcolm was influenced by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., who
came to be the symbol of the Civil Rights Movement. Racism became infamous in the 50 s because of
the rising popularity of a cult called the KKK, which was known to lynch and torture African
Americans, with no justice being brought upon the group (Malcolm X). All of this bigotry that
surrounded Malcolm is what made him have such a passion to become an educated scholar in the
ideas of racial segregation and hate. Though Malcolm X was a controversial figure in the eyes of the
public, his influence on American society did not go unnoticed, as Times Magazine named Malcolm X

Lab Report On Catalase Reactivity
INTRODUCTION In this experiment, we are trying to figure out how different concentrations of
substrate affect an enzyme reactivity. We are using hydrogen peroxide as the substrate and yeast as the
enzyme. Based on my background knowledge, I hypothesize that if more hydrogen peroxide is added,
then the seconds between a paper disk floating to the top would be lower than a lesser amount of
hydrogen peroxide solution. I thought that the more peroxide solution there was, than the more the
enzyme could react. An enzyme is a type of catalyst that speeds up a reaction. In this lab we are using
the enzyme called catalase. Catalase is used to break down H2O2. (hydrogen peroxide).
METHODS
The materials you will need are forceps, a pencil, yeast solution, hydrogen peroxide, filter paper disks,
six 250 ml beakers, distilled water, paper towels, and graph paper. These concentrations below will be
put into each beaker. Be sure to label each beaker.
Then you will put a solution of activated yeast in a beaker. Use the forceps to dip the paper disk into
the beaker, which contains the catalase enzyme. Next, use the forceps to transfer the paper disk into
the bottom of the beakers with hydrogen peroxide. You will then measure how long it takes for the
bubbles to carry the disk to the top of the beaker. Measure the amount of seconds it takes for the paper
disk to float to the top in the data table. Repeat the steps until you have at least 3 trials for each
hydrogen peroxide solution.

The War Of The West Of Persia
Over the mountains that cast shadows on the small town far to the west of Persia, Seth drew his first
breath. The feast in his honor would take the better part of a month for the women to create. They
would have to labor over countless pots to insure that everything was cooked to perfection, after all
dignitaries from the surrounding tribes would be attending to see the new heir. The village would use
so many supplies, that it would take the men half a year to hunt and fish enough to fully replenish their
stores. Over the hills, Persian soldiers marched to a drumbeat. Their swords had begun to feel heavy in
their scabbards, but they took no notice. They marched for the village of the new baby boy. The

The Persian King couldn t believe the report. He sent three more armies. Each army left proud and

being defeated and the brief village war was logged as a victory. Then, a great surprise to his people,
the King died in battle. His three year old son was immediately crowned king. When the new King
was six years old, he found a book that recorded the true fate of the thousands of men sent for the
western horizon. From that day on, he waited for the day he had full command of his kingdom.
Having seen the records of the massacre of his father s troops, he could see that the steel of Persian
swords wouldn t get him the secrets that his father had dreamed of. Meanwhile in the land of the
Council of the Brotherhood, Seth had grown up. He had a lot of responsibility on his shoulder, since
his brother, Khalq Alkram Alkhlwd who went by Alkram, was a major leader in the Council of the

  • 2. Beowulf Character Analysis The Great Motivator (An analysis of Beowulf s Motivations) Are everyone s motivations to become a hero pure? This question can be hard to answer depending on the hero. Spidermans motivations for saving an innocent child were pure, but what about people suffering from hero syndrome? A syndrome, that has become a recent phenomenon. This syndrome makes people seek heroism or recognition by creating desperate situations that they resolve in order to become a hero. As common as this syndrome is today, it was not a common syndrome in the tenth century. In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Burton Raffel, a mighty warrior named Beowulf fights three terrible monsters. Beowulf is a hero of the tenth century. Beowulf s motivations to fight the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Beowulf s lifetime, he killed three terrible monsters. One of these monsters was a great fire breathing dragon that was hurting his people. The other two monsters were killing people in a different kingdom. Beowulf is a great warrior and went to assist the other kingdom. Throughout the epic poem, there is a theme of how will people remember you once you die? This is important to Beowulf because he needed to set a good example to the warriors, and leave a legacy for once he was dead. After Beowulf dies in the story, it reads, Crying that no better king had ever lived, no price so mild, no man so open to his people, so deserving of praise. (867 869) This is Beowulf s warriors mourning over his death. He had set such a great example to the warriors on how to be a true warrior that they wept over his death. They have been extremely mournful since the greatest example, they had ever seen had died. Beowulf s motivation of becoming an example to the Anglo Saxons before he died through being a great warrior and king was fulfilled. The example that Beowulf left became a legacy to the Anglo Saxon warriors. Beowulf was an individual that others aspired to be like. The motivation of Beowulf s to be an example to all the Anglo Saxon warriors is pure. Another motivation for Beowulf is that he needed to save his people, even if it meant sacrificing his own life. Dual Language Personal Statement As a dual immersion educator of Latino students, I believe that my students language and cultures should be woven into their education, just as language and culture are woven into the very fabric of their beings. My students deserve an education that reflects the diverse experiences and skills that they bring from home. I strive to build on these strengths every day so that my students are prepared to be bilingual and biliterate professionals, leaders, and global citizens. It is because I believe so strongly that my students deserve a high quality, bilingual education, that I am interested in the Dual Language Immersion certificate program. This program would allow me to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create engaging instruction that maximizes both student language production and content knowledge. People may like the people who like help the citizen. Direct democracy means is a form of democracy in which people decide policy initiatives directly, and direct democracy places all power in the hands of the individual. In this time, we know about representative democracy is dominant in USA right now. The representative democracy means, is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy Nearly all modern western style democracies are types of representative democracies ,So I think would use in United States. The first reason is one people to do the decision is not good for citizen. The second reason is direct democracy are more legitimacy; this is because more people can consider or care about the law. The third reason is technology can let government not corruption, which means people will make better life and decision than before. First, the advantage of the direct democracy is that most people can make do the own vote. A child s upbringing is vital in determining what they will grow up to be. It is hard enough to raise a child, but it is even harder when you have to watch society as well. In today s age there are a lot of things that parents cannot shield their child from seeing that used to be easy to hide. So much can be easily accessed through the touch of a finger. A man born out of wedlock managed to turn a small insignificant chiefdom who labelled themselves as people of the Heavens into a formidable force to be reckoned with even till this day. The Zulu nation and its people owe lot to Shaka the Great, he built a nation whose numbers were few than two thousands and who neither powerful they were mere sheep. With the introduction of Shaka the Great, Dingiswayo vision of having a united nation of all Ngnui speaking people was possible. However the growth of the Zulu nation has to be attributed to Shaka military organisation that incorporated regiments from defeated tribes and in return those tribes pledged their support and loyalty to his ever growing empire and did not suffer attacks provide they paid homage. It operates a tightly connected order management system that coordinates orders, raw materials, and inventory across all 14 factories. What type of WAN architecture and WAN service would you recommend? Why? Recommendations: When designing a WAN, numerous factors must be considered. So therefore, based off the information provided, I would recommend a packet switched architecture, or more specifically a Frame relay with a CIR 45 Mbps WAN service. Frame Relay is packet switched data link layer protocol that handles multiple virtual circuits using High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) encapsulation between connected devices. (Cisco, 2005) In many cases, Frame Relay is more efficient than X.25 and generally less expensive than ATM. Also the data provided does not suggest that MegaCorp specifically has needs for the extensive QoS information that ATM provides that would enable the setting of very precise priorities among different types of transmissions such as high priority for voice and video and lower priority for email. If the company were a consulting firm with a high propensity for needs on bandwidth because of video conferencing or high bandwidth requiring applications then perhaps ATM architecture with a T1 or T3 WAN service might be more suitable. Even though MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm recommending Ethernet services might prove to be too expensive of a proposal as well and thus causing us to lose the project. The cost associated to having each factory connected by fiber optic cables to the provider s city wide MAN backbone plus the cost of the Ethernet switch might not be justified by the company s bandwidth needs. • 10. Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically and socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the devastating Civil War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such as the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that of the southern blacks, into a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals allowed Federal power to encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep South, however, not without some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of Thaddaeus Stevens impressive plan for economic reforms. In continuation of the Radicals plan to reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only guaranteed black suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be capable of amending their state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was rash in the eyes of the entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their ... • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Entitlement Theory Basically Sen (1981), founded Entitlement theory on the assumption that the system under consideration is an economy with private ownership and exchange in form of trade, exchange between people and production and between man and nature. However, he also accepted social benefits as entitlement relations. The theory is useful to explain poverty effects for different people at household level with disaggregation of differences among the group in the population and people even at the same household (Lenhardt, 2013). Hence, analysis using this theory implicates resources allocation between households. Remittances being one external resources can have effects in the final analysis using Entitlement Theory. Ideally, there are strong linkages between poverty and environment also explicated in the Entitlement Theory of poverty. Remittances can be used to buy assets. By owning assets, especially productive assets, it increases chances for a individual or household to create wealth and it is widely agreed to be a crucial factor in escaping and reduce chances to be trapped into poverty (Miller et. al., ... This was incomplete combustion due to the lab conditions. Incomplete combustion occurs when the supply of air or oxygen is poor. ( BBC GCSE Bitesize: Combustion , 2017). • 14. Financial Analysis Of Radioshack s Financial Stability Financial Analysis RadioShack s financial stability has been a much debated topic in the electronic retail store industry. It has only recently realized that its old formula has not translated well into the current market. Part of its plan to become an active competing member in its industry relies on several factors within the company that can be analyzed, modified using a financial analysis. The financial ratios will let them identify their problem areas in comparison to their industry competitors. Ratio Analysis The return on capital employed (ROCE) ratio is a profitability ratio that measures how well profits are being generated based on capital employed. RadioShack s ROCE dropped down to 34% in 2013 in comparison to 10% in 2012. For every dollar of capital employed, RadioShack is losing $0.34. The dramatic dip stems from 2012 s positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 155.1 million dollars to 2013 s EBIT of 344 million dollars (see Appendix A for financial statement data). Capital employed is determined by subtracting current liabilities from total assets. In 2013, capital employed decreased by 79 million dollars. ROCE is used to view the long term profitability of firms ( Financial Dictionary ). • 16. Child Prostitution in Asia Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults. There was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the Middle Ages and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered marriageable age. Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the world of adults. However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and childhood is a time for innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was rightly seen as barbaric and archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive adulthood. Physical and emotional abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type of abuse characterized by sexual activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of children leads to abnormal development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to violence and often continuing the chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to commit sexual acts before they are physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a profitable business for perpetrators. Child prostitution is illegal all over the world, but in some countries the laws against child prostitution and the use of underage people for sexual interactions are lax and often go unenforced. Audrey Thomas, a reputable and well recognized Canadian author, has been exploring feminism and the lives of women in her writing since the beginning of her career (Thompson, 2007). In her short story, Bear Country, Thomas explores the impact of violence towards women, on feminist performing artist, Wilma. As is frequently made the subject of feminist discussion, the survival and well being of women in today s male dominated society depends highly on remaining ignorant to the sexism and violence directed towards them. This will be further explored through examining the conflicts, motivations, and actions of Thomas protagonist Wilma, in her popular short story Bear Country. To begin, Wilma is a young British Columbian and performance artist attempting to learn french due to a recent relocation to Montreal. Wilma is fascinated by playing with both french and english in her work, using it as a method of communicating the impact of sexism and misogyny on women. The main conflict of the story begins, however, when Wilma must take a french class at l École Polytechnique recently after the massacre on December 6th, 1989, in which 14 women were killed (Bindel, 2012). Colonel William Moultrie in 1775 was asked by the South Carolina voters to design a banner for the use of South Carolina State Troops. Moultrie decided to approach the flag with a simplistic and direct design that displayed the crescent on a blue field. Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA security protocol, the risks could have been small. There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access 2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2 provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with terms and conditions. For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports, inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without giving up a timeout the game will run too long, as it did before, and they know they can t give free reign to challenge every call. What the league must do is simple. Malcolm X The 1920 s, or the Roaring Twenties , was a time in American history described as the Wild West . Prohibition brought controversy and anarchy to the once civilized American society, with mobs and gangs at the peak of their power with leaders such as Al Capone supplying alcohol and guns to the public. This was also a time of heightened racial segregation, with boundaries being set such as only white bathrooms and schools. Malcolm (X) Little was born in this time period, on the 19th of May, 1925, in Northeast Omaha (The Humanities of Malcolm X). Growing up in humble surroundings, with the constant battle with segregation and hate, defined Malcolm as a person and as a leader. With racism growing, Malcolm was influenced by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., who came to be the symbol of the Civil Rights Movement. Racism became infamous in the 50 s because of the rising popularity of a cult called the KKK, which was known to lynch and torture African Americans, with no justice being brought upon the group (Malcolm X). All of this bigotry that surrounded Malcolm is what made him have such a passion to become an educated scholar in the ideas of racial segregation and hate. • 37. Lab Report On Catalase Reactivity INTRODUCTION In this experiment, we are trying to figure out how different concentrations of substrate affect an enzyme reactivity. We are using hydrogen peroxide as the substrate and yeast as the enzyme. Based on my background knowledge, I hypothesize that if more hydrogen peroxide is added, then the seconds between a paper disk floating to the top would be lower than a lesser amount of hydrogen peroxide solution. I thought that the more peroxide solution there was, than the more the enzyme could react. An enzyme is a type of catalyst that speeds up a reaction. In this lab we are using the enzyme called catalase. Catalase is used to break down H2O2. (hydrogen peroxide). METHODS The materials you will need are forceps, a pencil, yeast solution, hydrogen peroxide, filter paper disks, six 250 ml beakers, distilled water, paper towels, and graph paper.
