Social Responsibility And Health Care
Nursing is more than just the physical care that is delivered; it is the protection and promotion of
health, the alleviation of suffering and the prevention and treatment of illness and injury
(AHPRA, 2015). Workplace citizenship and its three core elements of team work, social
responsibility and communication are essential in the nursing profession to develop skills and
give the best nursing care that is possible, because of how these elements work individually as
well as together. This essay will explore the negative and positive effects of each core element and
how it affects the care that is delivered by nurses.
Communication in nursing is an essential skill which allows nurses to capably deliver effective
and efficient care. Nurses being providers of health care must be able to recognise and prevent
barriers that may occur throughout the communication process as their job is to primarily interact
with patients in a culturally diverse workplace (Dwyer, 2012). Barriers such as health illiteracy
and poor communication play an important role on the care that is delivered by nurses and other
health care providers. In 2006 an adult literacy and life skills survey was conducted by the
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), information collected from the survey had shown that 59%
of the Australian adult population displayed low health literacy skills. This high figure indicates
that nearly 6 out of 10 Australians over the age of eighteen may not be able to make appropriate

The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack Essay
The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack The Charge of the light Brigade by Alfred Lord
Tennyson and Attack by Siegfried Sassoon are two very dissimilar poems. Both of them are on
the same topic of war but have many contrasts in how they treat the subject matter, war. The main
difference between these two poems is the audience that they were written for. Tennyson, as poet
laureate, was written for public reading, but Sassoon s work which showed more emotion and
feeling, was therefore more of a private poem. The poems tone and mood are very different.
Tennyson s poem is a triumphant, victorious and celebratory poem. This is because the Victorians
did not want to read about defeat, as it was not considered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While time ticks blank on their busy wrists. The language in the two poems is different. The
poets use different literary terms. Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening
lines, Half a league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain
words or words to obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy
guns on horseback, so this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the
sound of galloping horses. Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of
them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical
questions in his poem, for example, Was there a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade?
These are questions to which no answer is required, and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then
he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the valley in which the charge took place.
This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other translations of the Bible ( The Good
News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson uses it with dramatic effect as if
the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down the cannons. During the
Victorian period of history the Bible would have been important to the Victorian people and so the
poem appealed to their cultural knowledge. Tennyson also uses other terms to

Innovation and Changes
Now a day, innovation and change is very important for organizations. Innovation and change are
applied in many companies in the world. Innovation is a successful implementation of creative
ideas in organization to improve products and services. Change is a difference in the form, quality
or condition of an organization over time (Williams amp; McWilliams 2010). The purpose of this
essay is to explain us the compare (differences) and contrast (similarities) between innovationand
change. This is also including to identify something has changed in our campus or university in this
semester and example of innovation and change.

The example of innovation and change in our university is when they had change in the system of
study. They must think about how to become better than any other university. Our University s
computer lab and some of the class room had installed new Smart Board . This is one the
example of innovation can be found in the college. During the old days, the lecturers normally
used OHP projector to teach. Compare to LCD projector, OHP was without computer and it can be
used itself with the transparency slides. Due to the computer price getting cheaper and people
starting to had their personal laptop, the used of power point presentation become more and more
popular. Over the time, LCD projector had took over the OHP projector, the lecturers have to
transfer the teaching material from the transparency into power point presentation and start using
computer to present their teaching material. Then, the universities had installed the smart board in
the computer lab and most of the classroom. Smart Board are the more advanced version of LCD
projector, with the new function of touch input from a finger, pen or other solid object. Each
contact of the Smart board interactive whiteboard is interpreted as a left click from the mouse. This
is certainly a technology innovation, when the LCD projector reaches the top of the S shape curve,
technology discontinuity happens and new technology the Smart Board was introduced. All this will

Gay Marriage
In the Boston Globe newspaper editorial For Gay Marriage the editors argue that gay marriage
should be legalized in America. Throughout the newspaper article the is topic of the expanding
circle of rights ( Globe A18). Movements include the civil rights movement, gender equality, rights
for the disabled, 18 year olds to vote, single mothers and adoptive parents have occurred it is
apparent that the right for gay marriageshould occur ( Globe A18).These advances have occurred
with the help of court cases. The 1967 supreme court case Loving V. Virginia Court rulings ruled
that marriage should not be restricted because of ones race ( Globe A18). Others ruled that
adoption could not be denied on the basis of sexual orientation. The Globe states that under the
Massachusetts constitution, Equality under the law shall not be denied or abridged because of
sex, race, color, creed or national origin to argue their point gay marriage should be
legalized(A18). Along with the presidents The Globe uses Hillary Goodridge as an example of
how her rights were abridged when she was unable to see her newborn daughter in a neonatal
intensive care unit because she was not married to her partner of 15 years. (A18). The Editors
discuss opposing reasons to why gay marriage should not be legalized by Massachusetts Attorney
General. One argument the attorney general makes is that marriage is, ...A social institution

Transportation has become one of the measurable aspects that can be used to gauge economic
progress. Transportation faces many variables of instability and natural disasters are becoming an
ever more common factor. Over 40 vessels were booked to arrive or depart at the port of

the extent of damage based on what level the restaurants are operating. If the restaurant has full

Good Plumber Research Paper
Finding a good plumber or electrician is a difficult task for home owners.
One, plumbers and electricians possess, or pretend to possess, a skill most of us lack. After all, if
we knew how to fix a broken pipe or wire the unfinished bonus room we wouldn t need a good
plumber or an electrician in first place.
Our ignorance not only makes us desperate for their services it also makes us vulnerable to their
scams, cons, and thievery not to mention their plain old shoddy work. To make matters worse, it s
usually an emergency that forces us to call a plumber or an electrician. In our panic for their help,
we tend to let our guard down which makes us even more susceptible to their tricks and dirty tactics.
Furthermore, due to the nature of the business, it s hard to prosecute a bad plumber or electrician.
If you re lucky enough to find them after they ve swindled you out of your money, the plumber or
electrician can usually claim and do so well within the law that they did everything you asked them
to do; it s their word against yours. In many cases the home owner is left with no recourse while the
plumber or electrician moves onto their next victim. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Analysis Of Our Town
Aaron KeimeMr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town
is made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small
town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for
loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is
futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this
paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this
play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play.
The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is
Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college
and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first
World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain
but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast time passes the play shows Joe s
brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on the same way that it always
did even when all these people die. The play actually mentions quite a... Show more content on

someone with them. The characters that don t normally do not have very good lives. The
Chorus teacher for example commits suicide for feeling isolated and believing that he failed at
his lifelong dreams. He wanted to teach people how to sing great and have a wonderful chorus
but failed. That made him feel like everything he did in his life was for nothing. The second
character is Joe crowell which spent his live learning and even went to college. But his live ended

Tikki Tavi Book Summary
In the story, Rikki Tikki Tavi, a mongoose, Rikki Tikki Tavi, single handedly fights with a cobra
couple, while getting help from a group of new friends. One day, while he was in the wild, he was
caught up with the flood, that washed him away from his burrow, away from his mother and father.
An English familyfound him on the road, and decided to see if he was still alive. They brought
him to their bungalow, so he could rest and stay in a comfortable place. Although, as mongooses
are extremely curious, Rikki Tikki, decided to wander around the area, and found himself caught in
a sticky situation.
Firstly, Rikki Tikki explored the family s garden. Although, he seemed to notice the animals
there were not thriving there, they all seemed to be scared. There were large plants and trees he
found that he described, big as houses. While in the garden, he met a tailorbird, Darzee, and his
wife. They explained to Rikki Tikki that their family, and the whole garden was in danger. A cobra
couple, Nag and Nagaina, scour the garden day and night, eating everything that looks tasty to
them, and ate one of Darzee s children. While they three were talking, Nag and Nagaina ... Show

Rikki Tikki found him, edging nearer to Teddy, the only child in the family. Their battle was
intense. Karait was throwing himself in all directions, while Rikki was quickly eluding him.
Whilst they were fighting, Teddy s parents found the two creatures, and were impressed with
Rikki Tikki s swiftness. Rikki Tikki eventually bit and paralyzed Karait, and left him there to die.
Teddy s father then beat the dead snake to make sure that he could no longer come anywhere near
his family. Rikki was tempted to eat Karait, but remembered, a full meal makes a slow mongoose. If
he wanted all his strength and quickness, he must keep himself thin. He congratulated himself with

Compare And Contrast The Use Of Lines In The Works Of...
3 1: Compare and contrast the use of lines in the works of Vincent van Gogh and Sol LeWitt.
Lines can express many things. Like Vincent Van Gogh artwork lines can express emotion, and
feelings of the artist at that time. Vincent Van Gogh The Starry Night is example of that. He used
loose and free drawing lines. The lines looked as they were out of control and free. Vincent Van
Goghused thick, bold strokes of the paint brushes to show a certain body of their own which is
known as impasto. It was consistent through he s artwork so it was like a signature he used. Since
Van Gogh was placed at a mental facility. He painted The starry night. The swirls in the paint seem

3 2: Implied Line a line where no continues mark connects one point to another, but where the
connections is nonetheless visually suggested. Lines that create a sense of movement and direction.
Line of Sight one important kinds of implied line is a function of line of sigh, the direction the
figures in a given composition are looking. Titian artwork together the three separate horizontal
area of the piece; God the father above, the Virgin Mary in the middle and the Apostles below. The
lines that are create are simple, interlocking, symmetrical triangles. The lines are to serve to unify
the worlds of the divine and the mortal.
4 1: Why does Duccio s painting Annunciation of the Death of the Virgin lack linear perspective?
The right side of the bench appears too placed awkwardly to the right and crawling up and into
the wall. The angel arm appear to be reaching though the wall. Duccio Maesta uses foreshortening
in the beams to give the depth in the artwork though. In one point linear perspective lines are
drawn on the picture plane in a way that parallel lines receding to a single point on the viewer s
horizon which are consider vanishing points. Two point linear perspective a more dynamic
ccomposition. The two point linear perspective is where two or more vanishing point are in the
composition. So the biggest difference is that two points have more than two vanishing points and
creates a complex composition.

Effect of Using a Hand-Held Cellular Phone and Listening...
The effect of using a hand held cellular phone and listening to radio broadcast on driving
performance will be explored. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly
talking on the hand held cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand held phone would take the
driver s attention away and would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that
cell phone use while driving is dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be
detrimental on driving task. Many people turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from
drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a
conversation with using a hand held cell phone while driving will decrease the driving
performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have significant effect. Important
implications for the results for driving performance and for future research will be discussed. The
Effect of Using a Cell Phone and Listening to Radio on Driving Performance Many researchers
agree that numerous drivers engage in dual task that includes eating, talking or listening to radio,
which take away their visual attention (Гњnal, Platteel, Steg Epstude, 2013). It is suggested that
talking and driving at the same time increase the risk of accident and that it produces the same
consequence of driving while intoxicated (Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson Marshall, 2011). While

* I personally feel The Equality Act is one of the most important legislations to have been
introduced in recent times, it is astounding that until recently woman were over looked in the work
place so frequently. It is of particular interest that woman wishing to return to work are now given
the opportunity to continue nurturing their child by breast feeding and also outside of the
workplace ie in public places. * The Equality Act is there to protect everyone whether in
employment or not. It is there to ensure we are all on an equal footing and that everyone regardless
of their social status, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, mental health or intellectual acuity is
treated with due respect and presented with equal opportunities. * As a childcare provider this
would mean treating all children and their families or carers with respect and dignity irrespective
of their colour, creed or special needs that the child or adult might have etc. and ensuring that
opportunities to learn and develop are obtainable to all based on their particular level of
development. Data Protection Act (1998)

Early Kabbaah Research Paper
The Jewish mystical speculation during the first hundred years of the movement was known by
the Hebrew term Kabbalah, which means, something handed down by tradition. The beginnings
of this movement are usually set in the last decade or two of the twelfth century C.E., and this
period of Kabbalistic incubation is generally thought to end with the composition of the
masterful Sef ha Zohar (The Book of Splendor). Thus, early Kabbalah is the period of Jewish
mystical creativity in Kabbalistic form bracketed by two literary creations of mystical theosophy:
the Sef ha Bahir (The Book of Brilliance) marks the beginning of this stage and the Zohar, written
by the Spaniard Kabbalist Moses de Leon (c. 1240 1305), marks the end.

Only later, and as a result of the contact with medieval Jewish philosophy, the Kabbalah became a
Jewish mystical theology, more or less systematically elaborated. This process brought about a
separation of the mystical, speculative elements from the occult and especially the magical
elements, a divergence that at times was quite distinct but was never total. It is expressed in the
separate usage of the terms Kabbalah iyyunit (speculative Kabbalah) and Kabbalah ma asit
(practical Kabbalah), evident from the beginning of the fourteenth century, which was simply an
imitation of Maimonides division of philosophy into speculative and practical in chapter fourteen
of his Millot ha Higgayon. There is no doubt that some Kabbalistic circles (including those in
Jerusalem up to modern times) preserved both elements in their secret doctrine, which could be
acquired by means of revelation of by way of initiation rites. Once rabbinic Judaism had
crystallized in the halakhah, the majority of the creative forces aroused by new religious stimuli,
which neither tended nor had the power to change the outward form of a firmly established

Research Methodology Used For Research
Research Methodology Introduction
This chapter discusses the methodology used for this research. Describing type of methodology in
research study and define the chosen method and approach for this research. Then, the outline of
research strategy used, framework this research conducted and data sources collected to obtain
valid and reliable research as the objective determined. Review of Research of Methodology
Broadly speaking, there are several purpose of research. It depends on the objective of the research
itself. First, research is conducted to get review from existing knowledge. Second, to investigate the
problem and existing situation. Third, to provide solutions to problems. Fourth, to explore and
analyse more general issues. Next, to construct or create new procedures or systems. After that, to
explain new phenomenon. Then, to generate new knowledge. Otherwise, combination of any
previous purposes. The purpose of research will determine the suitable method used to get the
objective.
Type of research
In general, research works commonly classified into four categories, namely: exploratory,
descriptive, analytical and predictive research (libguides, 2015) . Exploratory research. This type
conducted for a problem that has not been clearly defined. It looks for pattern, hypotheses or ideas
that can be tested. Can help determine the best research design, data collection method, and

Evolution Of The Grand Canyon National Park
The evolution of the Grand Canyon National Park has been one of the marvels of the world to
which many researchers had dedicated substantial amount of controversial studies in attempt to
accurately estimate the origin of the canyons and caves/gorges ages and Colorado Plateau
current attained mean elevation of nearly horizontal sedimentary rocks based on numerous
scientific interpretation of new research data without consideration of a slew of prior geologic
data sets that confused geologists many generations ago. It is widely believed in the industry
that weather element and volcanism during the ice ages (Cenozoic period) raised the amount of
water in the Colorado River drainage system which increased the speed of the Colorado river
and its active tributaries and its ability to cut through rocks many years ago, steepened the river
(tributaries) gradient attributed to the uplift of the Colorado Plateau sitting near at sea level and
the great depth of the Grand Canyon (Flowers, 2010). Additionally, increased differential erosion
rate billions of years ago, exposed major geologic rock structures by cutting almost all the terraced
walls of the current Grand Canyons created in part by volcanic activity that deposited lava and
ashes across the area which completely obstructed the Colorado river system. Introduction: The city

Analysis Of The Movie Fruitvale Station
New Year s Day, 2009, a man is brutally shot by the BART Police of Oakland, California.
Fruitvale Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, took audiences by surprise as it
resonated with twenty two year old Oscar Grant, a man who was shot down by the BART
Police. This movie takes viewers on an emotional expedition as it takes a peek into the life and
death of Oscar Grant and his family. The struggles of originating from an African American
background become apparent as Oscar Grant struggles with steering away from racial
stereotypes and the misunderstandings of racial profiling. As the movie begins, the audience
notices that Oscar Grant is portrayed as a man who is loving and caring toward his family, but
also has a history of convictions and drug dealing experiences. As the movie continues, Grant is
shown as being a doer. Acting on situations without much thought and logic, his life has been full
of risks. By depicting Grant as having two completely different sides to him, the director does a
great job in displaying his struggles with himself as he tries to become a better man for the sake
of his family. The audience is allowed to see the humanization of Grant as the film proceeds. His
character is portrayed as flawed and misunderstood which relates to the viewers on a more
personal level. The audience notices the shrinking gap between themselves and Grant as the film
continues and takes them deeper into Grant s life. The film as a whole is filmed with cinema

Shale Rocks
Shale is the most common sedimentary rock. It was deposited and formed by squeezing excess
formation water and mineralogical transformations at different temperatures and pressures.
Caprocks are essentially defined as low permeability formations, and sometimes, but not
necessarily, with low porosity. More than 60% of effective seals for geologic hydrocarbon bearing
formations as natural hydraulic barriers constitute of shalerocks. Shale rocks are predominantly
composed of clay such as kaolinite, montmorillonite and illite. They might also have other silica and
carbonate based minerals that contribute to their geomechanical strength. In 1965, D. Shaw and C.

Caprock integrity failure can cause leakage and containment incidents. Currently, there are more
than 400 underground storage sites in the United States, including natural gas storage, oil and gas
waste disposal, industrial hazardous and non hazardous waste disposal, and municipal sanitation
waste disposal. So far, there are no documented cases of fully remediating a leak in a caprock in
either a natural gas storage or waste injection project. This makes preventing the leakage becomes
essential, because most of the time, leaks could have been avoided through proper and thorough
geologic characterization of the caprock [Bruno, et al, 2014]. The integrity of shale caprock relies
on the geomechanical properties of the rock, and it has effects on the quality and quantity of the gas
/hydrocarbons beneath and within it. Potential loss of caprock integrity is commonly due to tensile
fracturing, fault activation, and wellbore failure in the caprock. Understanding the microstructure
and mechanical properties of the shale caprocks helps to maintain its integrity, predict the potential

Meta-Organizations
Meta organizations for Public Health Service: a study of the Brazilian Telehealth Program. On the

its impact on their own autonomy and identity. However, according to the authors, if all members

collective action. If each member maintains its identity, then the common identity, the status, and
the ease of interaction will be threatened. M O members have not only strong reasons to maintain
their identity and autonomy, but also great capacity to do so, since many M O members have more
resources and more status than their own M O. According to Ahrne Brunsson, it is important for an
M O to attract members with the highest status. If the purpose is to maintain or increase the status
of the members, the M O must be able to include and retain the most important members because its
legitimacy is dependent on the success to recruit potential affiliates. Some organizations are more
attractive than others are , and for the M O to recruit all relevant members, it has to recruit the most

The s The Egg And The Sperm
The Construction and Use of Nature for Authority One common perception of nature is that it is
something raw, untouched by human civilization. This point of view suggests that humans are
completely separated by nature and that our cultures and technologies are in some way
unnatural. However, I believe that not only are we a part of nature, but our cultures are also
deeply entwined with how we view nature. In this paper, I will review Emily Martin s The Egg
and the Sperm: How Science Has Constructed a Romance Based on Stereotypical Male Female
Roles as well as Michael Pollen s Why Natural Doesn t Mean Anything Anymore in order to
examine how nature, culture, and power relate with each other. Martin asserts that gender
stereotypes affect biologists description of the natural world, particularly in the human reproduction
process. Pollen makes a case that nature in fact lacks any meaning yet is often used as strong
rhetoric. I argue that nature is constructed through cultural values and is used for rhetorical
purposes, which shows that people manipulate facts in order to gain authority. Martin investigates
how cultural stereotypes of the two sexes are subtly incorporated into descriptions of the egg and
sperm in scientific papers. She expresses that giving stereotypical roles to the egg and sperm has the
power to naturalize our social conventions about gender (501). By associating the egg with feminine
traits and the sperm with masculine traits, scientists make these

Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods
Job Evaluation Methods
There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor
comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches
are described here.
Ranking Method
Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method,
jobs are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs
also can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are
examined as a whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top
of the list has the highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job,
i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance
(the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words,
wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor.
The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus:
Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected
jobs must represent as many departments as possible.
Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility,
physical effort, working conditions, etc.).
Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation
committee) independently.
Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job.
The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors.
All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined.
An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below:
Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method
Merits
Demerits
Analytical and objective.
Reliable and valid as each job is

Support Group Community Analysis
Community is basically a social unit where like minded people interact, network and hold
conversations on topics of mutual interest. Of late, many Facebook communities have come into
play, and have also commanded immense popularity. The virtual presence of these groups means
that all those who have access to Internet can join them if it interests them. There are so many
communities on Facebook catering to a wide range of people and their interests it is hard for a
person to not find a community, which does not interest them.
For instance, there is a community by the name SWOT s guide to food this rekindles the love of
food and restaurant eating, and is highly useful for those seeking information or reviews about a
particular eating joint. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, a successful entrepreneur can share stories of her business venture, which can serve as
a model for others to follow. For instance, a success story of their food venture, or new clothing
line that they may have kick started. Supportive communities are extremely useful to follow on
Facebook. Depending on the sensitivity of the topics discussed in the group, they can be open,
closed or secret. Members need not feel insecure or violated.
Facebook communities serve as great platforms for individuals wanting to reconnect with one of
their own. These close knit groups are a huge form of support, and places where people
can interact and discuss topics of mutual interest. Having a virtual presence makes them accessible

vaccination is a critical venture in securing your child against a scope of genuine and possibly
deadly diseases. Immunizations are brisk, safe and greatly powerful. Once your child has got

1860 70 20000 per year.9 A similar estimation is provided by Cooper by the years between 1859

Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female prisoner held by
Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler
and his Nazi party had taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire
Jewish race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable and its very
strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first meaning is that
the word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David. Jewish people were forced to wear

The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are part of a mass
slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second stanzas. This
technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters / upright as statues and carry the
impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how the women are stood firm and even in the most
humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for her friend as
they are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and looking out for her friend
shows the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The following single word line, Fell is a
euphemism for the death of the woman and gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like
a literary bullet which is literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad . She gives
the word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should not forget what happened
there. Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity stays in our memory, we can avoid any
other mass, human caused disaster to reoccur.

The Department Of Homeland Security Act
When one thinks of security, they tend to think of being protected, free from harm or danger. There
are various security threats that the world faces today. Threats could range from a series of cyber
threats to terrorist attacks. We are incessantly encountered with catastrophic man made and natural
diseases. The Department of Homeland Security measures the nation s vulnerabilities, meaning it
takes initiative in leading and evaluating vulnerabilities and coordinating with other federal, state,
local, and private entities to safeguard the most effective response. The creation of the country s

The Department of Homeland Security Act was created a year after September 11th, 2001 to

Generation And The Silent Generation
Society is inevitably divided by its inhabitants, as there is such a mass of individuals living
amongst one established society, that it is only plausible to recognize that there will be cultural
divides in its people throughout time. We are living in a world that is constantly changing. Due to
the changes we have to adapt ourselves to interacting with people from different generations. A
prime example would be the indifference between two major groups who exist in two different
mental complacencies: Older generationversus younger. It is very obvious that these two groups
have many differences; for instance, the Silent Generation came from a society much more
regimented and different than that of today s Millennial. Although the events of the older
generation lead up to the formation of today s society, part of the Silent Generation is still living in
our modernization, and this results in a societal conflict.
They had stronger opinions on traditional family matters, homosexuality was not widely accepted,
and neither was the idea of feminism. If you looked at the Millennial generation, the subject of
matter is that those ideals have vastly changed. Back in the early 1940s, fashion was much more
modest, the entertainment much more regulated in innocence, and the views of people were much
more close minded. If you were an inhabitant of that era, these environmental factors would

The Innocent Man Book Response In today s society the criminal justice system that we live in
is flawed in so many ways. Some say that it works while others go to prison or jail for crimes
that they didn t commit. In this paper I will be covering specific examples from the book, The
Innocent Man, where the defendant s rights were violated. John Grisham talks about innocent men
being innocent and convicted for murder and sent to unlawful court proceedings. In this paper I
will be focusing mainly on the violations of his 6th amendment. The 6th amendment is the right to
effective assistance of counsel. Now Mr. Williamson was a very indigent or poor man and because

This violation being in the form of a videotape, which could have completely changed the
outcome of the case. On this videotape there was a full confession from Ricky Simmons. Barney
Ward knew all about this videotape (as it was shared with him along with all other information)
yet he chose not to bring this evidence to the table and share it with the jury. Judge Jones ruled
that the tape was not a Brady violation. The tape was not really hidden; it was handed over after
the trial, sort of a delayed submission (Grisham pg. 258) .This one piece of evidence alone
would have been enough to change the opinions of the jury and change the outcome of the trail.
However because Barney Ward did NOT show this video, this is a clear violation of Mr.
Williamson s 6th Amendment, which guarantees that in all criminal prosecutions there must be
an effective assistance of counsel (Cole and Smith pg. 84). In my opinion at no point in this trial
was Ron Williamson s attorney an effective assistance of counsel . Now the last example of how
Ron Williamson s 6th Amendment was violated was as the very beginning of all this. During the
investigation of the crime scene, the police conducting the search had found two hair samples.
There was no proof that either of these belonged to Mr. Williamson, however they still claimed that
it had come from the scalp of Mr. Williamson. However this is just a claim and Barney Ward knew
that and should have jumped on this opportunity. Mr. Ward

Essay On An Eye Is Upon You
An Eye is Upon You
Introduction
In today s society we are faced with many new technologies that look to catapult us into the
future. Some of these technologies look to free society from the shackles of old while others look
to upgrade the shackles and remove our veil of freedom. One of these topics that look to shackle
us to our government overlords is their ability for mass surveillance. This activity affords them a
power like that never seen before. Even though the program was instituted with the idea to
revolutionize the ability of the United States to detect, classify, and identify foreign terrorists [1] ,
it gives them a way to tag and watch every conversation and every movement of every citizen in the

The group sees this as a disgusting violation of not only ethical policies but also human rights. As
with the group opinion even the US Supreme Court agrees that this core privacy protection does

Trend
The practice of mass surveillance sets a dangerous precedence as we proceed into the future that
the government has full reign over our lives and controls our every movement. Through mass
surveillance the government is handed a way to spy on everything we do, in both our online
lives as well as our physical lives. It allows them to circumvent our policy of privacy and store
entire databases that calculate and correlate our lives. This is more power than any person or
institution should ever be able to have and can lead to societies mimicking that of an Orwellian
dystopian future. The amount of power and control that mass surveillance gives a government
entity would lead to the loss of one s free will. The pathway that these actions lead to is an attempt
at a system like that found in Minority Report where institutions use this technique to try to predict
future crime and arrest people for things that they did not commit. This is loss of freedom which
leads to the loss of our inalienable rights found in the Constitution. A very well put quote comes
from a Computer Science professor at the University of California concerning the NSA mass
surveillance program

Access control will increase safety these university parking facilities. In the decks, a security booth,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Professionss For Women By Virginia...
Virginia Woolf is a famous novelist, critic, and essayist. She is most known for her novels such as:
Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both
fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is
another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf
gave on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her
message about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies.
These strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and
the inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences.
Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and
she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech
Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed
vastly to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a
rhetorical questionthat states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what
professional experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant
modernists of her century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving
this speech. This helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a
peer than a superior figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made
herself more trustworthy and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf
makes yet another understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one.
Considering that Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but
simple. Yet by making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her
personality and what she thinks of herself. Through this statement, Woolf has proved her humility
and that she views herself as just another human being. The first understatement allowed her to be

Sistah Tongue Language Analysis
Way of Life Language is unique to the human race and it is vital to communication. Language
varies from land to land but the point is to get the message across and every language was made to
do so, even creole. Creole language is a language that is specific to a community or even state.
Although, nations argue that one languageshould be central to the whole world. That s a line that
shouldn t be crossed. In Lisa Kanae s novel, Sistah Tongue , it was very inspiring when she stated
that Speakers of Creole languages should never be perceived as mere casualties of insularity,
ignorance, and social isolation (Kanae ?). This is inspiring because I myself speak Hawaii Creole
English (HCE) and it is based on a foundation of many historical and... Show more content on

The thing about discrimination is that it would take everyone s cooperation to make it
disappear even just for a second but even if that happened, who says that it wouldn t spawn up
again from someone s grudge from another. Discrimination from the use of a language is very
common. In Sistah Tongue, Kanae s little brother, Harold boy, was discriminated by his mother.
The mother said that you not going get one good job is you no talk good English (Kanae).
Kanae thinks that the mother think Harold Boy has one speech impediment which Kanae thinks
that idea is mento , which is crazy. She thinks that idea is crazy because Kanae believes that
Harold boy is smart and he can communicate with his family just fine. I can relate to this because
I was told that speaking Pidgen in the classroom or in the work place is improper and it is not
professional . When I was a senior in high school, I was in IB and advanced placement classes and I
used to speak Pidgen in class. That was until the teacher of my IB English class called me out
and told me to not speak like that in class. When I did speak it, everyone would give me a dirty
look trying to say what are you doing? Also in my senior year I worked at a frozen yogurt shop
called Orange Grove. I always felt that I shouldn t talk to costumers in Pidgen because I would feel
that would be doing something wrong. But now I question that because would I really be doing

Aerospace Engineering As An Aerospace Engineer
Henry Ford once said, When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane
takes off against the wind, not with it. Aerospace engineers design those planes that fly through the
wind. People need the planes that they create to travel long distances in a short amount of time.
Many aerospaceengineers work with the government and create designs important for national
defense. Without aerospace engineers, planes and other aircraft would most likely not be as safe,
as efficient, and as fast as they are today. In order to design these vehicles a high level of education
is necessary. Students that enjoy math and science courses and the opportunity to earn good money
will be superb candidates for this career.
A significant amount of education and training is required to become an aerospace engineer. A
student would need to take English one, two, three, and four. He or she will also have to take
history courses ranging from civil history to economics ( Aerospace Engineer ). Additionally, a
person will need chemistry, physics, and math classes ( Aerospace Engineers ). Necessary math
courses include geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus ( Aerospace Engineer ). A bachelor
s degree is also needed to fulfill the job requirements ( Aerospace Engineers ). Students should take
numerous science and math classes so they understand various complex concepts before they start
working on a project ( Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance 88).

Why Do Best Choices In The Giver Essay
Those who know more about concepts in life, will make better choices. If someone has
knowledge about something, they most likely will make wiser decisions about it. The more
intelligence someone has, the more good and bad they will see in the world. People who gain
wisdom, may see the best things in life, causing them to make the best choices as well. In The
Giver, by Lois Lowry, those who have more wisdomwill see both negative and positive aspects in
life and will make wiser decisions for themselves and others.
When someone gains wisdom, the choices they make can have an affect on what lies ahead. That
someone is known as The Giver, from the book, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. When The Giver was
the Receiver of Memory, he gained great wisdom from experiencing important events in the past,
causing his knowledge to expand immensely. The choices that The Giver made for the community
were substantial, and changed how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonas, the protagonist, asked The Giver why they have to contain all the memories of past
events. The Giver explains that the memories give them wisdom which helps them in their lives.
When the people who run the community, The Committee of Elders, need advice, they ask The
Giver because he has the wisdom they need. A quote that portrays this is, Why do you and I
have to hold these memories? It gives us wisdom, The Giver replied, Without wisdom I could
not fulfill my function of advising the Committee of Elders when they call upon me. (Lowry,
pg. 140) People who achieve wisdom are looked up to in the world. Normal individuals
sometimes depend on that person when they need help on something. It is usually when the
person with wisdom assists the other with making a certain decision. They can often see if the
outcome is going to be good or bad. This is one more example of how those who have wisdom are
looked up to, and relied upon to settle on the best

Social Responsibility And Health Care Nursing is more than just the physical care that is delivered; it is the protection and promotion of health, the alleviation of suffering and the prevention and treatment of illness and injury (AHPRA, 2015). Workplace citizenship and its three core elements of team work, social responsibility and communication are essential in the nursing profession to develop skills and give the best nursing care that is possible, because of how these elements work individually as well as together. This essay will explore the negative and positive effects of each core element and how it affects the care that is delivered by nurses. Communication in nursing is an essential skill which allows nurses to capably deliver effective and efficient care. Nurses being providers of health care must be able to recognise and prevent barriers that may occur throughout the communication process as their job is to primarily interact with patients in a culturally diverse workplace (Dwyer, 2012). Barriers such as health illiteracy and poor communication play an important role on the care that is delivered by nurses and other health care providers. In 2006 an adult literacy and life skills survey was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), information collected from the survey had shown that 59% of the Australian adult population displayed low health literacy skills. This high figure indicates that nearly 6 out of 10 Australians over the age of eighteen may not be able to make appropriate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack Essay The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack The Charge of the light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson and Attack by Siegfried Sassoon are two very dissimilar poems. Both of them are on the same topic of war but have many contrasts in how they treat the subject matter, war. The main difference between these two poems is the audience that they were written for. Tennyson, as poet laureate, was written for public reading, but Sassoon s work which showed more emotion and feeling, was therefore more of a private poem. The poems tone and mood are very different. Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening lines, Half a league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain words or words to obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy guns on horseback, so this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the sound of galloping horses. Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical questions in his poem, for example, Was there a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade? These are questions to which no answer is required, and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the valley in which the charge took place. This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other translations of the Bible ( The Good News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson uses it with dramatic effect as if the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down the cannons. During the Victorian period of history the Bible would have been important to the Victorian people and so the poem appealed to their cultural knowledge. Tennyson also uses other terms to ... It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly talking on the hand held cell phone. Thus, early Kabbalah is the period of Jewish mystical creativity in Kabbalistic form bracketed by two literary creations of mystical theosophy: the Sef ha Bahir (The Book of Brilliance) marks the beginning of this stage and the Zohar, written by the Spaniard Kabbalist Moses de Leon (c. 1240 1305), marks the end. Evolution Of The Grand Canyon National Park The evolution of the Grand Canyon National Park has been one of the marvels of the world to which many researchers had dedicated substantial amount of controversial studies in attempt to accurately estimate the origin of the canyons and caves/gorges ages and Colorado Plateau current attained mean elevation of nearly horizontal sedimentary rocks based on numerous scientific interpretation of new research data without consideration of a slew of prior geologic data sets that confused geologists many generations ago. It is widely believed in the industry that weather element and volcanism during the ice ages (Cenozoic period) raised the amount of water in the Colorado River drainage system which increased the speed of the Colorado river and its active tributaries and its ability to cut through rocks many years ago, steepened the river (tributaries) gradient attributed to the uplift of the Colorado Plateau sitting near at sea level and the great depth of the Grand Canyon (Flowers, 2010). Additionally, increased differential erosion rate billions of years ago, exposed major geologic rock structures by cutting almost all the terraced walls of the current Grand Canyons created in part by volcanic activity that deposited lava and ashes across the area which completely obstructed the Colorado river system. Fruitvale Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, took audiences by surprise as it resonated with twenty two year old Oscar Grant, a man who was shot down by the BART Police. This movie takes viewers on an emotional expedition as it takes a peek into the life and death of Oscar Grant and his family. The struggles of originating from an African American background become apparent as Oscar Grant struggles with steering away from racial stereotypes and the misunderstandings of racial profiling. As the movie begins, the audience notices that Oscar Grant is portrayed as a man who is loving and caring toward his family, but also has a history of convictions and drug dealing experiences. As the movie continues, Grant is shown as being a doer. Acting on situations without much thought and logic, his life has been full of risks. By depicting Grant as having two completely different sides to him, the director does a great job in displaying his struggles with himself as he tries to become a better man for the sake of his family. The audience is allowed to see the humanization of Grant as the film proceeds. His character is portrayed as flawed and misunderstood which relates to the viewers on a more personal level. The audience notices the shrinking gap between themselves and Grant as the film continues and takes them deeper into Grant s life. The film as a whole is filmed with cinema vГ©ritГ© ... It was deposited and formed by squeezing excess formation water and mineralogical transformations at different temperatures and pressures. Caprocks are essentially defined as low permeability formations, and sometimes, but not necessarily, with low porosity. More than 60% of effective seals for geologic hydrocarbon bearing formations as natural hydraulic barriers constitute of shalerocks. Shale rocks are predominantly composed of clay such as kaolinite, montmorillonite and illite. Currently, there are more than 400 underground storage sites in the United States, including natural gas storage, oil and gas waste disposal, industrial hazardous and non hazardous waste disposal, and municipal sanitation waste disposal. So far, there are no documented cases of fully remediating a leak in a caprock in either a natural gas storage or waste injection project. This makes preventing the leakage becomes essential, because most of the time, leaks could have been avoided through proper and thorough geologic characterization of the caprock [Bruno, et al, 2014]. The integrity of shale caprock relies on the geomechanical properties of the rock, and it has effects on the quality and quantity of the gas /hydrocarbons beneath and within it. Potential loss of caprock integrity is commonly due to tensile fracturing, fault activation, and wellbore failure in the caprock. Understanding the microstructure and mechanical properties of the shale caprocks helps to maintain its integrity, predict the potential risk and prevent the failures from ... M O members have not only strong reasons to maintain their identity and autonomy, but also great capacity to do so, since many M O members have more resources and more status than their own M O. According to Ahrne Brunsson, it is important for an M O to attract members with the highest status. If the purpose is to maintain or increase the status of the members, the M O must be able to include and retain the most important members because its legitimacy is dependent on the success to recruit potential affiliates. Some organizations are more attractive than others are , and for the M O to recruit all relevant members, it has to recruit the most talented ones (i.e., those with more resources and greater competence). This point of view suggests that humans are completely separated by nature and that our cultures and technologies are in some way unnatural. However, I believe that not only are we a part of nature, but our cultures are also deeply entwined with how we view nature. In this paper, I will review Emily Martin s The Egg and the Sperm: How Science Has Constructed a Romance Based on Stereotypical Male Female Roles as well as Michael Pollen s Why Natural Doesn t Mean Anything Anymore in order to examine how nature, culture, and power relate with each other. Martin asserts that gender stereotypes affect biologists description of the natural world, particularly in the human reproduction process. Pollen makes a case that nature in fact lacks any meaning yet is often used as strong rhetoric. I argue that nature is constructed through cultural values and is used for rhetorical purposes, which shows that people manipulate facts in order to gain authority. Martin investigates how cultural stereotypes of the two sexes are subtly incorporated into descriptions of the egg and sperm in scientific papers. She expresses that giving stereotypical roles to the egg and sperm has the power to naturalize our social conventions about gender (501). By associating the egg with feminine traits and the sperm with masculine traits, scientists make these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods Job Evaluation Methods There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described here. Ranking Method Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor. The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus: Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected jobs must represent as many departments as possible. Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility, physical effort, working conditions, etc.). Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee) independently. Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job. The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors. All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined. An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below: Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method Merits

A prime example would be the indifference between two major groups who exist in two different mental complacencies: Older generationversus younger. It is very obvious that these two groups have many differences; for instance, the Silent Generation came from a society much more regimented and different than that of today s Millennial. Although the events of the older generation lead up to the formation of today s society, part of the Silent Generation is still living in our modernization, and this results in a societal conflict. They had stronger opinions on traditional family matters, homosexuality was not widely accepted, and neither was the idea of feminism. She is most known for her novels such as: Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, The Common Reader, and several more. These novels are both fiction and nonfiction, and include compelling psychological insight. Professions for Women is another one of her famous works, and it is the shortened version of a speech that Virginia Woolf gave on January 21, 1931 to the Women s Service League. In this speech, Woolf conveyed her message about women in the professional world through the use of multiple rhetorical strategies. These strategies include her use of understatements, a variety of tones throughout the speech, and the inclusion of differing sentence structures involving both short sentences and complex sentences. Overall, Woolf has a strong belief that women should be free to work in the professional world, and she conveys this quite well through the use of these strategies. To begin, at the start of this speech Woolf utilized various understatements about herself, and when combined they both contributed vastly to helping Woolf convey her message. For example, in the first paragraph, Woolf poses a rhetorical questionthat states, It is true I am a woman; it is true I am employed; but what professional experiences have I had? Woolf is considered to be one of the most significant modernists of her century, yet in this question, she seems to believe that she is not worthy of giving this speech. This helps to convey her message because to the audience, Woolf seems more like a peer than a superior figure. By making herself seem more like a peer, Woolf has effectively made herself more trustworthy and relatable to the audience. Continuing, in the second paragraph, Woolf makes yet another understatement of herself by stating, But to tell you my story it is a simple one. Considering that Woolf is one of the most valuable modernists of her century, she is anything but simple. Yet by making this statement to the audience, she is allowing them insight into her personality and what she thinks of herself.
