Compare And Contrast The Anglo Saxon Period And Present Day
Analyzing Yesterday s and Today s
The Anglo Saxon Period and Present Day
Travelling back in time to the period that is traditionally known as the dark ages; the time of war and
battles against the Vikings which was new invaders back then; the Anglo Saxon period has many
different aspects that are somehow unique to us. Such as how they have a different language the Old
English or how they greatly value the values of heroism, generosity and blood vengeance which
cannot be almost seen in the present time. There are many aspects that they have before, but we will
not focus on that. Instead, we will closely analyze the fact that by comparing it to the present day, we
can observe tremendous differences like how the power of woman was elevated somehow today, the
differences in our language, the Modern English to their language, Old English, how the leader or the
king should act before and even the dissimilarity in the social hierarchy. But is the change in these
aspects towards positivity? Or is it towards negativity? Are we really improving as they say? ... Show

In this current society, the levels of both male and female genders are somehow not even. Many
women are still fighting for the rights that they should have had but was chained to by society and
their belief that Men are superior to women . Another thing is how the social hierarchy divides us.
Instead of having a united community, we are divided into the lower, middle and higher class. In my
opinion, I would like a nation that has a society that is equal, no elevated positions in terms of money
and possession or in other terms a society where no one fights for money. But in the past periods
specifically the Anglo Saxon period, women had it worst and even the social hierarchy before had
been deeply planted into their civilization that no one can say no

Effect Of Technology On Communication
Internet and Technology: It s Effect on our Communication
Modern communication has stepped up its game with the introduction of Instant Messaging services,
internet based application and social media. But even with this increase ease of communication Sherry
Turkle and Jenna Wortham provide very different two experiences and outlooks towards the
increasing benefits and problems associated with the influence of internet and technology on our
communication.
Technology improved communication, but it is facing a bigger challenge. It is seen that with the
increased dependence on the IM and social media people are becoming more engulfed in creating a
perfect persona, even when they are communicating. While Jenna Wrotham suggests that it is a boon,
Sherry agrees that for some, but sometimes something too good is not so good in the long run.
The Age of IM, DM s and Social Media:
Jenna suggests how couples can keep in touch with each other even when they are thousands of miles
apart. A boon of technology, for sure; while Sherry also agrees. More people are becoming
accustomed to texting, sending messages instead of calling, chatting instead of talking and becoming
too engulfed in their Persona to even show their real self s over the texts. In today s age as Turkle
suggests, people are becoming more susceptible to text communication. But is it just that a text
message is easier to send, always? We believe it has got to do with deeper intentional and
unintentional choices that we

Issues In The Neutral Curriculum
It is very common that worldview issues, influence curriculum decisions in public education. When
discussing the curriculum itself, one must understand that it reveals the information and skills that
schools are theoretical doing, to help students master the content knowledge need to succeed in life. A
curriculum can be a system of practices arranging from study guides, to books. Since the fact that a
curriculum has distinguishes a great deal of elucidation, there is often times no discrepancies being
presented. In Van Brummelen, 2002, he talks about a number of curriculums and issues, which
influence such curriculum. One curriculum he talks about is the Neutral Curriculum. In the Neutral
curriculum, he stresses on the impossibility an era ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many establishments in the educational system change as culture unfolds (Van Brummelen, 2002, p.
81). The reason that change is necessary in the educational curriculum, is for the reason that in the past
decade, there has been an emergence of expansions that are performing research based, top practice
teaching strategies, which are escorted by discoveries regarding learning and learners. With change, it
is predominant throughout our school in the U.S. In our country, these changes are taking place
rapidly, against a framework of the move from an industrialized economy that is solely constructed on
the universal traffic of information. In America, our nation has progressed to a post modern
civilization. In our schools, they are not designed to prepare our children for the needed knowledge
our economy or its demand for the effects over the process.
Another important influencer in the educational curriculum is worldview. Worldview ingresses the
equality from a variety of sources. In every school throughout our country, every curriculum, text
book, and teacher has a worldview that influences the students. Sometimes this may be the student s
background (where they come from), or their surrounding environmental setting. As parents of these
students, they need to identify what that worldview is and whether or not it is healthy for their
children, especially as we tie it to their educational

Chemical Engineering Personal Statement
Chemical engineers are often defined as people who refine oil but this have change. Chemical
engineering ranges from pharmaceutical to petrochemical industry, which is the main reason I choose
it as it leaves me with wide option of careers once I graduate. Chemical engineer always have these
question in mind how do we make it more efficient, durable and environmentally friendly? and living
in developing country where our air is polluted, children die from malnutrition and fishes die from
factory waste, sparked my interest in chemical engineering to improve the situation in my hometown.
Chemical engineering requires individual to be strong in both mathematics and chemistry. It also
requires student to be able to think out of the box and think of alternative solution. My ability and
deep interest in the subject can be seen from the various competition I took part in. In 2014, I took part
in Science UNSW where I attained distinction (top 8% nationwide) and Singapore and ASEAN
Mathematical Olympiad where I awarded silver; gold the following year. I also took part in Asia
International Mathematical Olympiad in 2014 where I was awarded bronze. Just recently, I manage to
attain bronze in C3L6. In these competitions, I learn about problem solving, critical thinking and
tackling problem that I never see before. My mathematical and chemical abilities will serve as a firm
foundation for my development as chemical engineer. Math allows engineers to break down large

The Development And Constant Change Of Infants Essay
The development and constant change of infants is mind blowing and incredible. Each infant develops
at approximately the same, quick pace, but each small life in the grand scheme of infant development
could vary greatly (Santrock, 2016). There are many different factors that must be considered in the
first years of life that are extremely crucial for development and change. In order to better understand
infant development, it is important to consider how each of these factors will affect the baby; three
examples of these factors are sleep patterns, eating habits, and motor development, all which impact
the general health of the infant overall.
It is relatively general knowledge that infants tend to sleep much more than the average child, adult, or
adolescent. My virtual child, Margo, in between three and eight months, was sleeping six hours out of
the night, and taking a few two hour naps during the day, consistently sleeping about 12 hours per day
(My Virtual Child, 2014). The average amount of sleep that an infant will get on any given night is
anywhere in between ten to twenty one hours per day (Santrock, 2016). Based on this knowledge, it
can be concluded that Margo s sleeping habits are not necessarily abnormal for her age. Margo was
also strictly breastfed. In the study Infant Sleep Development from 3 to 6 Months Postpartum: Links
with Maternal Sleep and Paternal Involvement, it was stated that there was correlation between infants
that were strictly breastfed at

Deep Down Dark
1. What new information did you gain about those sixty nine days of survival? What details did Deep
Down Dark provide that were absent from the 2010 media blitz? Deep Down Dark seems to be a
valuable work, as it provides a deep scrutiny towards some very important questions concerning
human life, survival, individual psychology, and even the effective managing provision. As for me,
most of the thirty three had a deeper understanding of what exactly, was going on, and this was like a
new information to me. Furthermore, they could get to know what precisely, were the probable

In fact, even those people, who were sure that they were total atheists started to ask for mercy (Tobar

someone important in their lives. Some of the miners thought of their wives, children, and sins, while
someone had a recollection of his ex wives, forgetting about the current ones. Despite this, that is,
total isolation, that particular moment they showed their true feelings, as well as their real values, gave
them hope and the strength to survive. Speaking of my own perception, I am sure that all of those
stories are highly valuable because they reflect the better sides of any human being.

The Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollen
Omnivores Dilemma Rhetorical Analysis
In The Omnivores Dilemma Michael Pollen s objective is address, educate and convince the reader by
analyzing our diets. He mentions we have become oblivious to what we are eating. Sometimes we
wonder where our food comes from, and what ingredients are in it. Pollan states, we would rather eat
in ignorance (11). The underlying message here is if people know what they are eating, they might not
be able to eat comfortably again. Pollan uses this message to gain the reader s attention. Pollan creates
an illustration to help the audience visualize his experience. He also implements personal anecdotes
and compare contrast techniques to effectively persuade the reader, that what they are eating is
unhealthy.
Today omnivores have a wide selection of food to choose from. It is difficult for omnivores to decide
what to eat. Pollan uses the example The koala doesn t worry about what to eat: If it looks and smells
and tastes like a eucalyptus leaf, it must be dinner (3). Pollan is using figurative language which
requires the reader to use their imagination. In addition he is referring to our alienation with food. We
can no longer pick up something without questioning what it is comprised of. Omnivores have a wide
selection of food and a koala only has one. Another comparison Pollan makes is The hunter gatherer
picking a novel mushroom off the forest floor and consulting his sense of memory to determine its
edibility . The hunter can

Essay On Macunaima
Macunaima Military dictatorship has been a common aspect within Latin American countries dating
back to the colonial period. This has been frequently interpreted as a failure of civilian institutions to
address persistent problems such as poverty and corruption . Brazil was one of the countries that has
experienced complete political unrest especially during the 1960s till the early 1970s. The change of a
socialist president, Joao Gollart, to a military dictatorship changed many cultural and social factors in
the country including Brazilian Cinema. Under Gollart s presidency in the early 1960s, art and cinema
were able to flourish. Cinema not only thrived but a new genre and movement of film called Cinema
Novo rose to prominence in Brazil. Cinema Novo, which was originally theorized as an aesthetics of

This change from a black baby to a white man enhances his sex appeal and makes his brother s
mistress/wife come onto Macunaima which enrages his brother and gets her sent away. These first few
scenes reaffirm how race, sex, and age are issues that overwhelm Brazil. The scenes are manipulated
in a way that makes satirical sense in Brazil in the sense that racism exists (being dark skinned is
unattractive) and sexism is prominent (the masculine control of Macunaima s brother on his
mistress/wife). The themes of race and sex appear again in following scenes such as when Macunaima
and his brothers escape the jungle to go to the city after their mother dies. On their way Macunaima
walks into a gushing spring s water and turns from an ugly black boy to a handsome white man. His
black brother runs to try to turn into a white man like Macunaima but fails to get any of the water on
him except for on his palms and soles. The white brother also tries to run to the magic

Essay on The Themes of Noting and Deception in Much Ado...
The Themes of Noting and Deception in Much Ado About Nothing Discuss the themes of noting and
deception in Much Ado About Nothing The play Much Ado About Nothing was written by Williams
Shakespeare in the late 1600 s and over four centuries later it is still a significantly popular play and
has widespread appeal. The play explores many themes including love, treachery, friendship, society
and traditions. These five themes mentioned are still very much relevant in a lot of people s lives
today. You ll find that a lot of television programmes, movies, magazines and novels are structured
around at least one or more of these themes, if not all at the same time. The title Much Ado ... Show

Throughout the play Shakespeare uses the wittiness of the numerous characters taking part in the
performance to demonstrate his fondness of using puns, sexual innuendos and creating double
meanings. Puns, sexual innuendos and double meanings can be a technique of deception, the title
Much Ado About Nothing being the very first example. This is due to the way Shakespeare plays with
the word nothing in the title Much Ado About Nothing . In the late 16th century the word nothing
would have been pronounced noting Thus, the play s title could read: Much Ado About Noting .
Already Shakespeare hints that there might be a double meaning involving the word nothing . Without
a doubt many of the players participate in the actions of observing, listening and writing, or noting.
Also, in Shakespeare s period, a thing referred to a man s genitals, so therefore the word no thing may
have been an Elizabethan euphemism for female genitalia. This might insinuate Shakespeare s love of
using sexual innuendos to create double meanings, a means of deception and henceforth connecting to
the title once again. Another example of Shakespeare using sexual innuendos as a method of deception
is the conversation between Benedick and

The Normative View Of Christianity
Christianity is a widespread religion that reaches many different cultures and places all around the
world. Since it is such a widespread religion there are many types of interpretations that can be
developed based off the words and teachings of the Bible. Most commonly we have the normative
view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared
teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not
compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of
Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view of
Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the
differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully what
esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by Moreman,
are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hell or heaven and
that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being right after death
where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens, people will be
resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of Hippo (Moreman,
62). Those souls or people that are evil will spend eternity in hell in fiery damnation (Moreman, 63).

Media Violence Essay
There has been far reaching research on the link between televised violence and violent behavior
amongst adolescents. Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct and
watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that put
children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992). According to
the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on games and
television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a greater risk of
acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violence in general and less likely to
see anything wrong with it. Studies disclose that children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton,
Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany.
Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the behavior
of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the justification of
the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence is a correct avenue
to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life situations. The classic setting of
using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into a validation for using violence to
even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently, defenseless youth who have been
maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve problems.
The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he/she
never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children during
their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of eighteen
to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs (Tompkins,
2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted violence since their
link between dream and actuality is still not strong. Furthermore, toddlers between the ages of three
and five years are

The first El Gordo lottery was held in 1812. After that, this main draw has been held every christmas
including during the two world wars. The modern version of the lottery is held every sunday and is
open to players from all over the world. The older lottery was started as a way of collection money for

A Brief Note On The State Of Diabetics Essay
Diabetics in Hidalgo County

South University Online May 23, 2016
DIABETICS IN HIDALGO COUNTY One of the most important health problems in my community
is Diabetes. The combination of an unhealthy diet, a sedentary lifestyle, the lack of health education
and access to preventative care services all contribute to this growing problem. The prevalence of
diabetes in Mexican Americans living in Hidalgo County for both men and women is 25.9 %, or 1 in
3.8 people, Hidalgo County s rates are double the statewide average of 9.7% for Texas and 9.3 % for
the US. The three top causes of death in adults in Hidalgo County are: cardiac, cancer and diabetes,
according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Because of the potential seriousness of
diabetes and all its associated medical conditions, serious attention needs to be given to its prevention
especially in light of the emerging epidemic of type 2 diabetes in youth (Bastida, Cuellar Villas,

Although, Wonder Woman is given these empowering qualities, the comic book artists clothed this

excitement to the male audience which erupts these superheroes to receive a greater amount of
attention than those female superheroes who do not necessarily reveal as much skin. Similar to the
group of girls described in Rat Queens, the female superhero, Wonder Woman, contributes to the way
these adolescent girls are being judged for the appearance they should resemble. According to An

The Pros And Cons Of A Primary Election System
A primary election is where voters in each state votes for a presidential candidate by
political party. For instance, if you are a registered Democrat within your county, then you only
vote for one democrat candidate in the primary. According the Greenberg book, the primary
system is a related trend has involved more direct elections of government officials, replacing
the old indirect methods (Greenberg 2014, pg. 286). This system is still used today to create a
direct approach to determine which candidate from each party officially won in one state, in
which a state that pledge to a specific candidate from each political party. For example, one

But in today s system, there is such thing a party caucuses , or
selection of delegates to national party conventions by city or countywide meetings by party

Lee 2 feature. So do we think that it is a good system? Because most politicians usually never listen
and
continuously debating, thus creating delays for a solution, I basically have no opinion on that.
However, June primaries are official elimination round, in which one candidate from each party
will run for the November election, so I think that the primary system breaks down to several
candidates into one for each party. Ultimately, the primary system is to create a two party

Sigmund Freud Biography
Sigmund Frued, Austrian physician, neurologist, and founder of psychoanalysis. Freud was born in

When he was three years old his family, fleeing from the anti Semitic riots then raging in Freiberg,
moved to Leipzig. Shortly thereafter, the family settled in Vienna, where Freud remained for most of
his life. Although Freud s ambition from childhood had been a career in law, he decided to become a

In his clinical observations Freud found evidence for the mental mechanisms of repression and
resistance. He described repression as a device operating unconsciously to make the memory of
painful or threatening events inaccessible to the conscious mind. Resistance is defined as the
unconscious defense against awareness of repressed experiences in order to avoid the resulting
anxiety. He traced the operation of unconscious processes, using the free associations of the patient to
guide him in the interpretation of dreams and slips of speech. Dream analysis led to his discoveries of
infantile sexuality and of the so called Oedipus complex, which constitutes the erotic attachment of
the child for the parent of the opposite sex, together with hostile feelings toward the other parent. In
these years he also developed the theory of transference, the process by which emotional attitudes,
established originally toward parental figures in childhood, are transferred in later life to others. The
end of this period was marked by the appearance of Freud s most important work, The Interpretation
of Dreams (1900). Here Freud analyzed many of his own dreams recorded in the 3 year period of his
self analysis, begun in 1897. This

Netflix Inc Case Study
Introduction: Netflix, Inc., is an entertainment industry that provides millions of customers with a
streaming service to television shows and movies. Netflix was founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and
Marc Randolph in Los Gatos, California (Hosch). In the late 1990 s, Netflix started to offer an online
subscription service through the Internet, which changed the way we viewed movies and shows. In the
mid 2000 s, Netflix mailed DVDs to their subscribers, and once the customer was done watching they
would mail it back to Netflix. However, it was not until 2007, that Netflix began streaming options

Netflix has battled off these companies by keeping their costs low, always having a new variety of

by this because they are always updating, adding, and removing content from their website, as well as
improving the layout and making it more user friendly with their recommended tabs and the ability to
show the consumer what they might want to watch based off of what they are currently watching or
what they have watched in the past. Threat of Substitute Products and Services The threat of substitute
products and services causes a company s goods and services to be threatened by other company s

customers are being entertained by Instagram, and Snapchat, rather than watching Netflix. Netflix s

The study of my topic i.e. vertical occupational mobility of labour and Organizational commitment

The second data set is of 1970 s Census of Population which resulted that occupational mobility and
inter country mobility are not independent when accounted for different age and sex groups.
Larry D. Schroeder. (1976) created an occupational mobility matrix by observing mobility patterns of
non movers and interstate movers of United States (observation period is five years or more), after
which it was evident that occupational and geographic mobility are affiliated which each other. He
further states that manpower planners must keep this relationship in mind when they project the
responses to their strategies to stimulate occupational and inter state mobility.
Occupational Mobility and Wage Inequality
Nachum Sicherman amp; Oded Galor (1990) states that if a wage profile difference across individuals
in a firm is found workers will change their occupation or quit from that specific firm. Furthermore,
Gueorgui Kambourov and Iourii Manovskii (2004) in their study indicate that occupational mobility
and wage inequality are interrelated. They developed a general equilibrium model which resulted that
increase in occupational mobility is 90% because of the significant increase in wage inequality over
the time.

Argumentative Essay On Homelessness In Australia
The issue of homelessness in regard to shelter in Australia has been prevalent for an extended period
of time in the 21st century. Homelessness is the situation in which individuals are unable to attain a
permanent and adequate quality of shelter. Shelter is a human right as stated under article 25 of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifies Housing as part of the standard of living
required for an individual to maintain their wellbeing. Australia s law specifies no legal right to
shelter, however as a party of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
(ICESCR), the Australian government must recognise that all individuals should be entitled to an
adequate standard of living for themself and their family , where one criteria is adequate housing as
stated in article 11. It is imperative that in order to fulfil both Australia s obligation to uphold human
rights and maintain social cohesion within society both legal and non legal responses are effective in
dealing with both the causes and effects of homelessness.
Homelessness is an issue which stems from a large range of external factors which by themselves are
difficult to address. One such contemporary factor in NSW regarding homelessness is the affordability
of adequate shelter with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the median price in Sydney to be $1.15
million. This has made it harder for individuals to afford homes which are adequate as per the
requirements of article 11

Parental Leave Benefits
Two of the parental leave policies that I find especially generous are offered by Netflix and Microsoft.
I feel that Netflix s offering of paid leave for new mothers or fathers for an entire year after the baby s
birth is especially generous because most companies only offer a few months of maternity leave and is
not necessarily paid, and many companies offer a couple weeks of paternity leave paid if any at all.
Microsoft was especially generous when they nearly doubled their paid leave to twenty weeks for
women who had just given birth. I find this generous because on average many women only get up to
12 weeks unpaid leave.
There is a question that workers will take parental leave benefits because workers may think that

She mentions that she planned to work throughout the pregnancy and take limited time away like she
did with her son. The contradictory statement happens against Yahoo, who lengthened their parental
leave in 2013. This is said to be contradicting because she is a leader within the company who offers a
good amount of parental leave and if she does not take it herself than those coworkers beneath her are
more likely not to take it.
I do agree that there is contradictory signaling going on to a certain extent because if workers of
Yahoo see their boss not taking the leave the company offers the other workers do not want to
disappoint so they will not use the leave either. On the other hand, everyone lives their own life and
should make decisions that will best benefit them and their family and not base it off someone else.
I do not believe that there is a significant difference in the statements because the first statement is
read as take all the time you need, so when that person is ready to come back they should. With the
other statement of we ll see you in 12 weeks , I read that as in 12 weeks your job will still be there
even if you take the full 12 weeks. I feel as with either statement you could use the full 12 weeks or

Branded As The Tallest Structure
Branded as the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere, the One World Trade Center (One WTC)
stands tall as a symbol of revival. When people look to it, they marvel at the praiseworthy façade and
design. However, aesthetics come with a price; a price much too great to leave unaddressed. At a
whopping 3.9 billion dollars, the One WTC holds the record with the most expensive construction
costs. Even the use of building information modeling could not diminish the overwhelming 1.9 billion
dollar increase from the original cost estimate. Just as for all construction projects, cost overruns are
caused by a variety of unanticipated circumstances. Whereas for the One WTC, the phrase: political

Daniel Libeskind won the competition with his design. However, his designs for the One WTC were
lacking in many ways. As a result, Larry Silverstein, the temporary owner of four World Trade Center
buildings, pressed for architect, David Childs, of Skidmore, Owings Merrill to take over the
modifications on the One WTC plans. Because Silverstein was a businessman, his goal was to
expedite the process, so there was a lot of political pressure on Childs. On the other hand, Governor
Pataki desired to use the design to gain political power. In 2004, Childs s design was estimated to
contract 2 billion dollars of construction. Despite confirmation of the plans, New York Police
Department (NYPD) reported security concerns in the design. Therefore, Childs was forced to modify
his plans by a lot. Additionally, many other parties were involved in the process of rebuilding, such as
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PA); thus, Childs s design suffered from the pressure
to meet every party s demand. Ultimately, building costs were exponentially heightened. In the design,
two major factors, construction materials and security features, contributed to the expensive building
expenses. The plans called for over 45,000 tons of structural steel alone. According to
SteelBenchmarker, the average cost for steel from 2006 to 2007 is about 700 dollars per ton. This

Abstract
Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most widespread forms of dementia in the aging population.
Unfortunately, most cases of AD are sporadic in nature and the underlying etiology is unknown. Thus
far, the majority of the experiments have been based on transgenic mice models where amyloid
aggregations are the causal initiator of AD. However, recent evidence has suggested that chronic
inflammation may precede the induction of late onset AD neuropathology. To demonstrate the role of
neuroinflamamtion in late onset development of AD, we injected a viral mimic
polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyI:C) to C57BL/6J pregnant mice during gestational day 17
(GD17). A subset of the pups were exposed to a second injection at 12 months of age to observe
whether a second immune challenge would increase the rate of AD development. The aged mice were
subjected to a cued fear conditioning task to measure their cognitive capacity, and immunoblotting and
immunohistochemistry to detect any neuropathological changes. PolyI:C injected mice failed to show
any significant cognitive impairments following their

Iran is one of the largest countries in the Mideast. It is also part of the Southern Central Asian union.
Iran borders Iraq to the West, Turkmenistan to the Northeast and Pakistan to the Southeast. The
country s inhabitants primarily belong to the Islamic religion (Keddie, 1971). This religion occupies
most of the countries in the region. The country has some of the economic activities that have
sustained it for a long time. It also has a government that facilitates every activity (Keddie, 1971). As

of the Parliament is in the legislation of laws regarding the budget of the country. It also passes laws

there are also other bodies, all with different responsibilities. One of these bodies is the Council of
Guardians that usually determines who will run for any Assembly seat. This council is the one that
determines whether any law passed by the Parliament rhymes with the Constitution. In addition, this
council examines all the presidential and Parliamentary candidates to determine whether they are

Global Warming s Real Inconvenient Truth
1) What do you think government s role should be in reducing energy consumption? Should there be
government mandates or should the market decide?
Personally, I believe the government s role in reducing energy consumption should be the obligation to
form subdivisions that encourage the limitations of energy intake. The government should form a new
United States unit to endorse and control the usage of energy. I think this department should pass as
many unpretentious laws as possible in order to lessen energy consumption. As the article states, No

I believe there should definitely be government mandates. The article, Global Warming s Real
Inconvenient Truth, also states, In electricity generation, the share for coal (the fuel with the most
greenhouse gases) shrinks from about 40 percent to about 25 percent and much carbon dioxide is
captured before going into the atmosphere. Little is captured today. Nuclear energy increases. So do
renewables (wind, solar, biomass, geothermal); their share of global electricity output rises from 2
percent now to about 15 percent. Some of these changes seem heroic. They would require tough
government regulation, continued technological gains and public acceptance of higher fuel prices.
This statement explicates how the changes would be perceived as valiant but would also require stern
government instruction. The first regulation I had in mind for the subdivision to implement was to
make it necessary for all roofs white to redirect heat. Reflecting heat off roofs will not only reduce
energy use but it will lower carbon dioxide emissions immensely and

John Bowlby s Influence On Children s Development
John Bowlby s work in attachment has been the foundation when determining the attcahments and
bonds that a child and parent may experience (Webb, 2011). According to Bowlby, attachment is
referring to a lasting, mutual bond of affection that is dependent on an individual or more than one
person (Webb, 2011). Establishing a secure attachment during infancy and early childhood is an
important task of a parent or a caregiver. Not all parents or caregivers can provide their child with a
secure attachment at this important in life due to various reasons. Since parents are the main providers
in their child s development of attachment, their lives and history has a great influence on their
children s lives. One psychosocial factor is the family s socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic statuses
has been researched to be on of the most influential factors in rather or not a family will succeed or
face challenges, it can be a determinant in the development of mental health, physical health, and
emotional health. A parent s educational level, their occupation, and income could place the family in
either a beneficial or hindering situation, in return, affecting the way a parent could establish
attachment with their child. For example, a single parent raising their child and having to manage two
jobs, could result in limited attachment to their parent or primary caregiver. Parental stress and their
adverse childhood experiences is another psychosocial factor which can determine a child s

What Was The Impact Of The Black Panther Party

Civil Rights
5/11/16
The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be
the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his
life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people
(Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval.
Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color,
religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other
national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self
Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed
and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers,
believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very
little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Newton casually addresses
his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey you re so violent. Why are you so violent
Huey? ...And I say, well hey, existence is violent; I exist, therefore I am violent in that way (PBS).
Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale established the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Oakland
California, during October of 1966.

The knee joint consists of three articulations: in the front is paltellofemoral articulation and other two
articulations are between condyles of femur and tibia 1,3. When the knee is in full extension, rotation

The main elements for knee stability are tendons and ligaments. Fibrous connective tissue forms a

Three main stability tests for anterior cruciate ligament are Lachman test, anterior drawer test and

Lachman test is the most sensitive test. To perform Lachman test knee must be flexed 15 30 degrees
and after that the lower leg should be pulled forward while the femur is held in position. The test is
positive if there is displacement over 5 mm when we compare it to the other knee or when there is no

The anterior drawer test is not that reliable for injury of anterior cruciate ligament. The hip should be
held at 45 degrees flexion, and knee in 90 degrees flexion. The foot should be pressed to the
examination table and upper part of tibia should be pulled forward. This movement should be carried
out first with the knee in neutral position and after that with the knee in external and internal rotation.
If there is an increased looseness of the knee in neutral position the ACL is probably injured.
Posteromedial capsule is likely to be injured if there is increased dislocation with external rotation and
posterolateral capsule if there is increased dislocation with internal

The Pros And Cons Of Drug Testing In Sports
Eugene Robinson from the Washington post once stated Most fans watch sports...to see people unlike
themselves perform extraordinary physical feats. The superhuman quality of professional athletes is
precisely what Americans admire about them (CITE) Drug testing was created to stop the use of
performance enhancements as artificial stimulants for physical and mental enhancements. (CITE)
Drugs which are used by athletes in all types of sports have many advantages and disadvantages.
Therefore, laws were created to keep an equal playing field.
The use of drugs date back to the ancient Olympic games. This is where the word doping originated
from which was the Greek word doop (CITE). Performance enhancing substances also known as
steroids are used for the improvement of human activity. Because drug use is also a huge thing outside
the United States the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) was created as the first
international governing body to prohibit doping. However, at the 1960 s Olympic the first athlete to
die of doping was of the name Knut Jensen. He was a Danish cyclist who was found with narcotics in
his system which resulted to his death. In result, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was
established to fight doping. The United States created their own anti doping agency called United
States Anti Doping Agency (USADA). Therefore, drug testing is an important factor in professional
sports world wide.

which will need to be addressed in order for this student to feel welcomed and to also feel that he is
getting the same educational opportunities as the other students in the building. This case presents
many challenges, however, for the building leader. There are three key issues which are the basis for

First, it has been clearly identified that some of the instructors in the building have had a history of not

Namely, an American Sign Interpreter will be required for this student. Further, the student will need
to feel accepted by his peers. This can be quite challenging for the building principal to facilitate, even
for a building full of regular education students. Also, the teachers will need to be accepting of having
this student in their classes, along with the interpreter.
Finally, this case presents a challenging issue with the parents of the child as well. It will be critical for
the parents to know that their child s needs will be met through the IEP and that the building leader is
in support of the IEP so that it is enforced. This is absolutely critical for the building leader because if
the IEP is not constructed properly and if the IEP is not being followed, then legal ramifications could
cause issues for me as the building leader.
At any rate, the problem for me in this case is found in the three areas mentioned previously. One is
the mindset of the teachers. Two is the mindset of the student. Three is the satisfaction of the parents.
While these issues do not solely rest on my shoulders, it is my leadership which will determine how
successful this inclusion will be for the student.
Plan of Action
The proposed plan of action to promote a resolution to this case is three fold. First I will remedy the
trouble with the instructors in my building by setting goals. It is apparent that many teachers are
reluctant to accept special education

Significant Role Differences In Managerial Accounting And...
There are significant role differences when it comes to management accounting and financial
accounting. Both types have important requirements and expectations. Not one has more significance
than the other because large businesses in particular have a need for both. Both types will be discussed
and then how managerial accounting will help to improve both operational and financial performance.
Management accounting is designed to be more of an internal control than an external control. What is
meant by an internal control is managerial accounting is designed more for a work center or specific
department within a business. Reports are created to assist managers in determining what the best path
would be for their specified work area. The accountants that are focused in managerial accounting will
be generating daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports assisting the managers to gain insight on any
changes that need to be made whether it s with employee hours to be used or pricing of inventory for
profits. The reports that are developed simply to help provide a pathway guiding the manager s
decisions. Managerial accounting doesn t simply apply to lower level management. Upper
management will also use the reports from managerial accountants to identify if there are any trends in
sales whether up or down, budget requirements, consolidation reports, and any studies that may have
been accomplished. The big difference between managerial accounting and financial accounting is

Prednisolone Is Chemically Known As A Corticosteroid
Prednisolone is chemically known as a corticosteroid which is a steroid hormones (DIAAIC). The
corticosteroids are produced in the adrenal cortex and come in two forms; glucocorticoids and
mineralocorticoids. The two forms differ in that glucocorticoids act as anti inflammatory steroids and
as a metabolising agent. The mineralocorticoids however, work to maintain a balance between the
water and salt levels in the body. Prednisolone is used to treat inflammatory diseases and is therefore
known as a synthetic glucocorticosteroid . Steroids work by reducing swelling and inflammation
(DIAAIC).

through the reaction of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the pharmacokinetics aspect, prednisolone is mainly dependent on two characteristics; dosage and
age. Based on how the drug is bound in the plasma, the distribution of the drug can be determined. A
high dosage of prednisolone leads to an increase in the volume of distributed drug. This is due to the
non linear binding of the drug. It is recommended for patients with other disorders to lower their
dosage intake of prednisolone (LinkSpringer). The half life of prednisolone differs in accordance to
age; the half life in children being the shortest. A common issue with patients who take prednisolone
drugs is that the levels of serum binding proteins are low in the patients blood. This is known as
hypoalbuminaemia. The serum binding proteins are important in that they allow the drug to bind for it
to take effect. If a patient were to take oral contraceptives whilst on the prednisolone drugs, it would
decrease the half life and the volume of drug distributed. This would be as a result of high levels of
corticosteroids (LinkSpringer).
Side Effects and counselling
When a patient is prescribed with prednisolone, they must ensure that the prescriber is aware of any
other medications the patient may be taking and of other health issues, if any. This is because different
drugs work in different ways and so to ensure the prednisolone works effectively, the patient

The Sane Man In The Black Cat By Edgar Allan Poe
In the opening paragraph of Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Black Cat he assures the reader first

called sane man should have to emphasis. He instead however gives leeway into the madness that he
gets driven into through his own external and internal demons surrounding him. We know that from a

enforcement, because I am really interseted in being a police officer because it looks like a cool and
interesting job..I was not sure if I wanted to be a police officer or a detective or something else but
when i looked into it more I decided that it was the right thing for me.I thought that it was the right
thing for me because since i was a little kid i was always interested in law enforcement.when i was
younger i would always say that i wanted to be a firefighter or a police or S.W.A.T officer, also when i
was younger i like to watch a lot of TV shows about law enforcement like COPS,DEA,CSI,and many

like to be active and i like to be out doors alot and i think that i would not feel comfortable in an office
job because i would get really bored and i think that i would be stressed out all the time. One other
reason why i think this job is good for me is because i like to help people that are in need and that
need help and because i get a good feeling after i help someone. One of the main reasons that i would

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PP) rooted from traditional psychoanalysis theories. PP operates with
the basic assumption that focuses on unconscious processes that recognise how a person s behaviour
and feelings in the present are rooted from childhood experience in the past. The objective of PP is to
facilitate client to reach self awareness and to have a better understanding of the problems by
identifying where the origin of the issue as well as underlying causes that may be present.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy places heavy emphasis on client s relationships and interpersonal

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The Anglo Saxon Period And Present Day Analyzing Yesterday s and Today s The Anglo Saxon Period and Present Day Travelling back in time to the period that is traditionally known as the dark ages; the time of war and battles against the Vikings which was new invaders back then; the Anglo Saxon period has many different aspects that are somehow unique to us. Such as how they have a different language the Old English or how they greatly value the values of heroism, generosity and blood vengeance which cannot be almost seen in the present time. There are many aspects that they have before, but we will not focus on that. Instead, we will closely analyze the fact that by comparing it to the present day, we can observe tremendous differences like how the power of woman was elevated somehow today, the differences in our language, the Modern English to their language, Old English, how the leader or the king should act before and even the dissimilarity in the social hierarchy. But is the change in these aspects towards positivity? Or is it towards negativity? Are we really improving as they say? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this current society, the levels of both male and female genders are somehow not even. Many women are still fighting for the rights that they should have had but was chained to by society and their belief that Men are superior to women . Another thing is how the social hierarchy divides us. Instead of having a united community, we are divided into the lower, middle and higher class. In my opinion, I would like a nation that has a society that is equal, no elevated positions in terms of money and possession or in other terms a society where no one fights for money. But in the past periods specifically the Anglo Saxon period, women had it worst and even the social hierarchy before had been deeply planted into their civilization that no one can say no ... • 3. Effect Of Technology On Communication Internet and Technology: It s Effect on our Communication Modern communication has stepped up its game with the introduction of Instant Messaging services, internet based application and social media. But even with this increase ease of communication Sherry Turkle and Jenna Wortham provide very different two experiences and outlooks towards the increasing benefits and problems associated with the influence of internet and technology on our communication. Technology improved communication, but it is facing a bigger challenge. It is seen that with the increased dependence on the IM and social media people are becoming more engulfed in creating a perfect persona, even when they are communicating. While Jenna Wrotham suggests that it is a boon, Sherry agrees that for some, but sometimes something too good is not so good in the long run. The Age of IM, DM s and Social Media: Jenna suggests how couples can keep in touch with each other even when they are thousands of miles apart. A boon of technology, for sure; while Sherry also agrees. More people are becoming accustomed to texting, sending messages instead of calling, chatting instead of talking and becoming too engulfed in their Persona to even show their real self s over the texts. In today s age as Turkle suggests, people are becoming more susceptible to text communication. But is it just that a text message is easier to send, always? We believe it has got to do with deeper intentional and unintentional choices that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A curriculum can be a system of practices arranging from study guides, to books. Since the fact that a curriculum has distinguishes a great deal of elucidation, there is often times no discrepancies being presented. Many establishments in the educational system change as culture unfolds (Van Brummelen, 2002, p. 81). The reason that change is necessary in the educational curriculum, is for the reason that in the past decade, there has been an emergence of expansions that are performing research based, top practice teaching strategies, which are escorted by discoveries regarding learning and learners. With change, it is predominant throughout our school in the U.S. In our country, these changes are taking place rapidly, against a framework of the move from an industrialized economy that is solely constructed on the universal traffic of information. In America, our nation has progressed to a post modern civilization. In our schools, they are not designed to prepare our children for the needed knowledge our economy or its demand for the effects over the process. Another important influencer in the educational curriculum is worldview. Worldview ingresses the equality from a variety of sources. In every school throughout our country, every curriculum, text book, and teacher has a worldview that influences the students. Sometimes this may be the student s background (where they come from), or their surrounding environmental setting. As parents of these students, they need to identify what that worldview is and whether or not it is healthy for their children, especially as we tie it to their educational ... Chemical engineering ranges from pharmaceutical to petrochemical industry, which is the main reason I choose it as it leaves me with wide option of careers once I graduate. Chemical engineer always have these question in mind how do we make it more efficient, durable and environmentally friendly? and living in developing country where our air is polluted, children die from malnutrition and fishes die from factory waste, sparked my interest in chemical engineering to improve the situation in my hometown. Chemical engineering requires individual to be strong in both mathematics and chemistry. It also requires student to be able to think out of the box and think of alternative solution. My ability and deep interest in the subject can be seen from the various competition I took part in. In 2014, I took part in Science UNSW where I attained distinction (top 8% nationwide) and Singapore and ASEAN Mathematical Olympiad where I awarded silver; gold the following year. I also took part in Asia International Mathematical Olympiad in 2014 where I was awarded bronze. Just recently, I manage to attain bronze in C3L6. In these competitions, I learn about problem solving, critical thinking and tackling problem that I never see before. My mathematical and chemical abilities will serve as a firm foundation for my development as chemical engineer. Math allows engineers to break down large problems into ... • 6. The Development And Constant Change Of Infants Essay The development and constant change of infants is mind blowing and incredible. Each infant develops at approximately the same, quick pace, but each small life in the grand scheme of infant development could vary greatly (Santrock, 2016). There are many different factors that must be considered in the first years of life that are extremely crucial for development and change. In order to better understand infant development, it is important to consider how each of these factors will affect the baby; three examples of these factors are sleep patterns, eating habits, and motor development, all which impact the general health of the infant overall. It is relatively general knowledge that infants tend to sleep much more than the average child, adult, or adolescent. My virtual child, Margo, in between three and eight months, was sleeping six hours out of the night, and taking a few two hour naps during the day, consistently sleeping about 12 hours per day (My Virtual Child, 2014). The average amount of sleep that an infant will get on any given night is anywhere in between ten to twenty one hours per day (Santrock, 2016). Based on this knowledge, it can be concluded that Margo s sleeping habits are not necessarily abnormal for her age. Margo was also strictly breastfed. In the study Infant Sleep Development from 3 to 6 Months Postpartum: Links with Maternal Sleep and Paternal Involvement, it was stated that there was correlation between infants that were strictly breastfed at ... • 8. The Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollen Omnivores Dilemma Rhetorical Analysis In The Omnivores Dilemma Michael Pollen s objective is address, educate and convince the reader by analyzing our diets. He mentions we have become oblivious to what we are eating. Sometimes we wonder where our food comes from, and what ingredients are in it. Pollan states, we would rather eat in ignorance (11). The underlying message here is if people know what they are eating, they might not be able to eat comfortably again. Pollan uses this message to gain the reader s attention. Pollan creates an illustration to help the audience visualize his experience. He also implements personal anecdotes and compare contrast techniques to effectively persuade the reader, that what they are eating is unhealthy. Today omnivores have a wide selection of food to choose from. It is difficult for omnivores to decide what to eat. Pollan uses the example The koala doesn t worry about what to eat: If it looks and smells and tastes like a eucalyptus leaf, it must be dinner (3). Pollan is using figurative language which requires the reader to use their imagination. In addition he is referring to our alienation with food. We can no longer pick up something without questioning what it is comprised of. Omnivores have a wide selection of food and a koala only has one. Another comparison Pollan makes is The hunter gatherer picking a novel mushroom off the forest floor and consulting his sense of memory to determine its edibility . The hunter can ... This has been frequently interpreted as a failure of civilian institutions to address persistent problems such as poverty and corruption . Brazil was one of the countries that has experienced complete political unrest especially during the 1960s till the early 1970s. The change of a socialist president, Joao Gollart, to a military dictatorship changed many cultural and social factors in the country including Brazilian Cinema. Under Gollart s presidency in the early 1960s, art and cinema were able to flourish. Cinema not only thrived but a new genre and movement of film called Cinema Novo rose to prominence in Brazil. The themes of race and sex appear again in following scenes such as when Macunaima and his brothers escape the jungle to go to the city after their mother dies. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the play Shakespeare uses the wittiness of the numerous characters taking part in the performance to demonstrate his fondness of using puns, sexual innuendos and creating double meanings. Puns, sexual innuendos and double meanings can be a technique of deception, the title Much Ado About Nothing being the very first example. This is due to the way Shakespeare plays with the word nothing in the title Much Ado About Nothing . In the late 16th century the word nothing would have been pronounced noting Thus, the play s title could read: Much Ado About Noting . Already Shakespeare hints that there might be a double meaning involving the word nothing . Without a doubt many of the players participate in the actions of observing, listening and writing, or noting. Also, in Shakespeare s period, a thing referred to a man s genitals, so therefore the word no thing may have been an Elizabethan euphemism for female genitalia. Most commonly we have the normative view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view of Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully what esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by Moreman, are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hell or heaven and that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being right after death where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens, people will be resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of Hippo (Moreman, 62). Developing A Mouse Model Of Sporadic Alzheimer s Disease Developing A Mouse Model Of Sporadic Alzheimer s Disease By Invoking The Systemic Immune Response Using Polyriboinosinic Polyribocytidilic Acid (PolyI:C) Sahar Salimi Mosavi, Human Biology Program, University of Toronto, Dr. Lili Naz Hazrati, Department of Laboratory of Medicine and Pathology, Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases Turnitin receipt #: 549076367 Abstract Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most widespread forms of dementia in the aging population. Unfortunately, most cases of AD are sporadic in nature and the underlying etiology is unknown. Thus far, the majority of the experiments have been based on transgenic mice models where amyloid aggregations are the causal initiator of AD. However, recent evidence has suggested that chronic inflammation may precede the induction of late onset AD neuropathology. To demonstrate the role of neuroinflamamtion in late onset development of AD, we injected a viral mimic polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyI:C) to C57BL/6J pregnant mice during gestational day 17 (GD17). A subset of the pups were exposed to a second injection at 12 months of age to observe whether a second immune challenge would increase the rate of AD development. The aged mice were subjected to a cued fear conditioning task to measure their cognitive capacity, and immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry to detect any neuropathological changes. PolyI:C injected mice failed to show any significant cognitive impairments following their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Should there be government mandates or should the market decide? Personally, I believe the government s role in reducing energy consumption should be the obligation to form subdivisions that encourage the limitations of energy intake. The government should form a new United States unit to endorse and control the usage of energy. I think this department should pass as many unpretentious laws as possible in order to lessen energy consumption. Little is captured today. Nuclear energy increases. So do renewables (wind, solar, biomass, geothermal); their share of global electricity output rises from 2 percent now to about 15 percent. Some of these changes seem heroic. They would require tough government regulation, continued technological gains and public acceptance of higher fuel prices. This statement explicates how the changes would be perceived as valiant but would also require stern government instruction. The first regulation I had in mind for the subdivision to implement was to make it necessary for all roofs white to redirect heat. Buergel Civil Rights 5/11/16 The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people (Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers, believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Finally, this case presents a challenging issue with the parents of the child as well. It will be critical for the parents to know that their child s needs will be met through the IEP and that the building leader is in support of the IEP so that it is enforced. This is absolutely critical for the building leader because if the IEP is not constructed properly and if the IEP is not being followed, then legal ramifications could cause issues for me as the building leader. In the pharmacokinetics aspect, prednisolone is mainly dependent on two characteristics; dosage and age. Based on how the drug is bound in the plasma, the distribution of the drug can be determined. A high dosage of prednisolone leads to an increase in the volume of distributed drug. This is due to the non linear binding of the drug. It is recommended for patients with other disorders to lower their dosage intake of prednisolone (LinkSpringer). The half life of prednisolone differs in accordance to age; the half life in children being the shortest. A common issue with patients who take prednisolone drugs is that the levels of serum binding proteins are low in the patients blood. This is known as hypoalbuminaemia. The serum binding proteins are important in that they allow the drug to bind for it to take effect. If a patient were to take oral contraceptives whilst on the prednisolone drugs, it would decrease the half life and the volume of drug distributed. This would be as a result of high levels of corticosteroids (LinkSpringer). Side Effects and counselling When a patient is prescribed with prednisolone, they must ensure that the prescriber is aware of any other medications the patient may be taking and of other health issues, if any.
