Beginning at around age 35 in both men and women, calcium is lost and bones become less dense.
This can result in osteoporosis and a reduction of weight bearing capacity, leading to the possibility of
spontaneous fracture. Thinning of the vertebrae also results in a reduction in height. In addition, the
vertebrae calcify, resulting in postural changes and increasing rigidity, making bending difficult. The
joints also undergo changes. In fact, arthritis, the degenerative inflammation of the joints, is the most
common chronic condition in the elderly. The two most common forms are: • osteoarthritis (a
wearing away of the joint cartilage) • rheumatoid arthritis (a disease of the connective tissue) These
conditions can impair mobility and the performance of daily activities of living. For persons with
disabilities this condition may occur at an earlier age. As we age, we experience a reduction in the
production of hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, and saliva, as well as a reduction in the total
number of taste buds. These changes can result in: • gastrointestinal distress • impaired swallowing
• delayed emptying of the stomach Perhaps more importantly, the breakdown and absorption of foods
may also be impaired, sometimes resulting in vitamin deficiencies of B, C, and K vitamins or, in
extreme cases, malnutrition. If left untreated, these deficiencies may result in: •

Various Approaches Of System Analysis
Various Approaches for Systems Analysis and Design Introduction First, we look what is the
difference between system analysis and system design. System analysis is a problem solving
technique that decomposes the system into its component pieces and system design is a
complimentary problem solving technique that reassembles the component pieces of the system back
into a complete system. When we are developing an information system, most organizations use a
standard of steps. The steps are called development lifecycle(SDLC). SDLC consists of phases such as
planning, analysis, implementation, design, and maintenance. Analysis phase is where you take a
closer look and study the current system. The design phase, analysts design all aspects of the system,
specifying on the system from input and output screens to database, computers, and report processes.
About System Analysis and System Design There are a lot of technical activities that include: coding,
design, system definition, testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike waterfall development methodology, agile foresees the documentation but is initially unwilling
to adapt such as adding a lot new facets to the development model. Gabe, M. said, Agile
methodologies attempt to capture and use the dynamics of change inherent in software development in
the development process itself rather than resisting the ever present and quickly changing
environment. . Demand of traditional methods complete and accurate requirement before the
development; agile methods presume that change is strict, unavoidable and must be embraced
throughout the cycle of product development. Cao, L. and Ramesh, B. believes individuals who fill
those roles are much more important than the roles that people fill. Fowler also believes that each
talented individual brings something unique to a team that are developing the system and disagrees
with the application of engineering

Age Of Enlightenment Essay
Throughout history mankind has transformed into a highly developed and cultured society, driven on
the foundations of one vital key factor in our evolution that set humans apart from other species
entirely, the ability to think. If humans did not possess the ability to think, there would be no change
or development of our species as a whole and individually. By challenging the natural process of
evolution and defying the odds, humans carved their way into this world to leave their mark. A time
period in history where thinking began to dig deeper and defining one s philosophical thoughts
became a prevalent and popular subject to indulge in was The Age of Enlightenment . During this age,

There are no proven facts behind their phrase Always One of a Kind. Dr Pepper has a unique flavor
that many soft drink consumers enjoy. However, it does not change who the consumer is as an
individual or make them stand out any more than the next person drinking Dr Pepper. The claim that
Dr Pepper makes is used to persuade people to buy their product and know their own uniqueness.
From the very beginning, the Dr Pepper company states the importance of protecting their recipe. It is
said that there are two halves of the recipe. They are kept in two different safe deposit boxes, located
in two separate banks in Dallas, TX. The fact is that Dr Pepper is a unique blend of natural and

Example Of Rapunzel Alternate Ending
Rapunzel grew up pretty normal, as normal as as you could for being locked away from the outside
world. Never being allowed to step a foot outside, let alone being allowed to venture down to the
hospital mother Gothel worked at. All the young girl knew as the apartment she shared with Mother
Gothel. She familiarized herself rather quickly with the layout of the apartment when she got old
enough to be left alone. Learning every nook and cranny of the place, the only thing she couldn t
figure out was how to escape the locked door and make her way down to the hospital to see her
mother.
The older she grew the less time Gothel spent with her. Each time she left the apartment, she would be
gone longer and longer, only coming back when she need a bone marrow transplant. Something the

Essay on American Post-War Occupation of Japan
American Post War Occupation of Japan
The intent of the United States occupation of Japan was to neutralize the threat of another war, to
nourish the Japanese economy back to health, and to provide a stable democratic government for the
defeated nation. With General Douglas MacArthur acting as the supreme commander in charge of the
occupation, Japan changed drastically. Special attention was paid to the areas of military, economy,
and government. The effects of the United States occupation of Japan were profound almost beyond
reckoning, and have had enormous impacts on modern Japanese society as well as on almost every
other society in the modern world and throughout the course of history.

And if it was right in 1946 and wrong in 1953, why doesn t the United States admit for once that it
made a mistake? And I m going to say something that I think perhaps ought to be done more by
people in public life. I m going to admit right here that the United States did make a mistake in 1946.
We made a mistake because we misjudged the intention of the Soviet leaders. (Walt 168)
Although the United States did well in eliminating any future threats from Japan, it was realized later
on that Japan was left in the midst of a violent wave of communism with no means of defense but for
the United States which did not wish for a direct war on the Soviets, who backed all communist
countries.
After disarmament was complete, MacArthur s next task was to see that Japan adopted a new, and
democratic, constitution. When the Japanese government proved too confused or too reluctant to write
a constitutional reform that satisfied MacArthur, he had his own staff draft a new constitution in
February of 1946. This, with only minor changes made to please the conservative groups in Japan,
was then adopted by the Japanese government in the form of an imperial amendment to the 1889
constitution. Japan s new democracy went into effect on May 3, 1947. The new constitution was a
perfection of the British parliamentary form of government that the Japanese had been moving toward
in the 1920 s. Supreme political power was assigned to

Acute Kidney Injury Essay
ABSTRACT
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a critical complication after pediatric cardiac surgery that significantly
diminishes the quality of life. Early detection of AKI after pediatric cardiac surgery can lead to better
preventive and therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of plasma
neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early marker of acute kidney injury (AKI) in
cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in pediatric cardiac patients. We measured serum creatinine, serum
urea, and plasma NGAL levels in 30 Egyptian children undergoing cardiac surgery with
cardiopulmonary bypass. We classified patients according to creatinine criteria of Acute Kidney Injury
Network into AKI (n=9) and non AKI (n=21) groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were undergoing cardiac surgery with CPB for surgical correction or palliation of congenital
heart disease. Monitoring of the patients was achieved by serial measurements of plasma NGAL, S.Cr
and serum urea levels at 2 h preoperatively, as well as 2 h, and 24 h postoperatively. In addition, we
measured the postoperative S.Cr and serum urea during 48 h after surgery. Venous blood sample was
withdrawn from every patient by suitable syringe according to patients age and weight. Estimation of
plasma NGAL was carried out using Human Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (NGAL)
ELISA kit (Catalog #: 95645) of Glory Science Co., Ltd, USA. It was measured on MR 96 Microplate
Reader (CLINDIAG SYSTEMS B.V.B.A; MR 96; MR2GL002; Belgium). Estimation of S.Cr was
carried out using commercially available reagent kit. The diagnostic kit of the kinetic Jaffé method
used for the estimation of S.Cr was obtained from Egyptian Company for Biotechnology (S.A.E).
Estimation of serum urea was carried out by urease colorimetric method (Modified Urease Berthelot
Method). The diagnostic kit employed for the determination of serum urea was obtained from

Computer Graphics
Computer graphics are graphics created using computers and, more generally, the representation and
manipulation of image data by a computer. The development of computer graphics has made
computers easier to interact with, and better for understanding and interpreting many types of data.
Developments in computer graphics have had a profound impact on many types of media and have
revolutionized animation, movies and the video game industry.
Overview
The term computer graphics has been used in a broad sense to describe almost everything on
computers that is not text or sound . Typically, the term computer graphics refers to several different

Another example is that Sutherland s software modeled objects not just a picture of objects. In other
words, with a model of a car, one could change the size of the tires without affecting the rest of the
car. It could stretch the body of the car without deforming the tires.
These early computer graphics were vector graphics, composed of thin lines whereas modern day
graphics are Raster based using pixels.
Further 1960s developments
Also in 1961 another student at MIT, Steve Russell, created the first video game, Spacewar. Written
for the DEC PDP 1, Spacewar was an instant success and copies started flowing to other PDP 1
owners and eventually even DEC got a copy. The engineers at DEC used it as a diagnostic program on
every new PDP 1 before shipping it. The sales force picked up on this quickly enough and when
installing new units, would run the world s first video game for their new customers.
E. E. Zajac, a scientist at Bell Telephone Laboratory (BTL), created a film called Simulation of a two
giro gravity attitude control system in 1963.[5] In this computer generated film, Zajac showed how the
attitude of a satellite could be altered as it orbits the Earth. He created the animation on an IBM 7090
mainframe computer. Also at BTL, Ken Knowlton, Frank Sindon and Michael Noll started working in
the computer graphics field. Sindon created a film called Force, Mass and Motion illustrating Newton

This paper examines the pricing behavior of securities of firms which repurchase their own shares.
The results are consistent with a market in which investors price securities such that expected
arbitrage profits are precluded. The results are also consistent with the hypothesis that firms offer

The direction of this signal is ambiguous.
It may be that the company perceives no profitable use for internally generated funds because of a lack
of growth opportunities.
On the other hand, especially when a company offers to buy its shares at a substantial premium above
the market price, management may believe that their company is undervalued.
The tender offer then represents an attempt to pass on the value of this inside information to the

Proactive And Begin With The End Of Mind By Stephen R....
Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind
Stephen R. Covey writes that there is not a greater investment to grow in new habits, and he invites his
readers to study these habits and be patient with ourselves. I like that he writes, be patient with
ourselves, because we are people that are not perfect and we cannot achieve that perfection in
ourselves. The first two habits are, Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind. Both of these habits
are about moving from independence to interdependence that focus mainly on our choices or
mastering your thoughts. I like Covey s statement, I am responsible for me, and I can choose.
Proactive
When I first thought of proactive, it meant to recall all of the scenarios that may come up so that I may
be ready. Actually, this is how Covey uses his right brain, in imaging all the things that can go wrong
and dreaming up ways to help. This is natural for me to meditate this way. However, this kind of
proactive can create worry and keep me up late over visualizing. I prefer praying and sitting with
Jesus, because it is impossible to come up with everything alone in my own head and this causes too
much work. I believe in working with a team and what comes to each of us in a situation is valuable
and ideas that could only come from someone who ruminates different that I do. Overly proactive
people sometimes can be manipulative, because they have already worked through everything in their
head and if they are open to new

Human Trafficking In Haiti
It s one of the biggest problems that we have , said Jean Max Bellerive, Haiti s previous prime
minster. What he s referring to is the human trafficking issue that has boomed in this country. Human
trafficking has existed in Haiti for years, destroying families and individuals. The issue hasn t been
this big until recent years, which I plan to look into. Human trafficking has become such a huge
industry not only in Haiti, but also through the whole world causing it to have such a huge impact on
global politics. What I plan to investigate is how the issue of human trafficking affects global politics
in a whole. Before going too deep into this issue, everyone should understand what human trafficking
is. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or
commercial sexual exploitation. This may include providing a spouse in a forced marriage or the
extraction of organs or tissues. Yuri Fedotov, the head of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, said, At
any one time, 2.4 million people suffer the misery of this humiliating and degrading crime. It is
estimated that only one out of 100 victims of trafficking are ever rescued.
When first looking into this issue, I wondered why human trafficking has become such a huge
problem in Haiti so I tried to find some connection between the two and I what found was tragic. On
January 12, 2010 an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 hit Port au Prince devastated this country. Over

The Importance Of Sociology
Bettering oneself. Due to the decline of social skills, many Americans have fallen to the idea of
perception becoming a reality regarding social norms. Over the past decade, many Americans have not
been able to come together and stop the increase of social injustices. Sociology should be a required
subject because it promotes problem solving, it provides students with a basic understanding of how
society functions, and it opens up many career options.
Problem solving in society is important because in life there are many problems one might face, if
students take a sociology class they will be able to gain more of an insight on how to solve these
problems. As said in the web article Importance Of Sociology, Sociology is of great importance in the
solution of social problems . This gives one of the main reasons and founding ideas of sociology; as
well as one of the main reasons it should be taught in school. Once students are able to implement and
apply sociology into their life, it will make life easier since they will have new problem solving tools
to solve the many problems in society. Using problem solving, students will be able to expand their
views and give oneself more opportunities. With this in mind, while using problem solving, students
will come across solutions and ideas that would previously not have been thought of while trying to
solve a problem.
One of the founding principles of Sociology is knowing how certain societies came to be. This will be

Thinking of it gives me shivers as it implies that we are beings far greater than we imagined. And as
good as it may sound, I think it appeals to man s egotistic nature; we as humans who have done things,
good and evil, try to look for a sound explanation to ease our consciences. I cannot say that the idea
does not appeal to me yet I cannot also say that I do agree with it; on the other hand, of the three
doctrines, I agree the most with the doctrine of The Noble Savage. I do believe that in our true nature,
we are savages but that does not mean that we did not know how to control ourselves; indeed it would
seem that the Native Americans, the specific race of people that the Europeans based the doctrine of
The Noble Savage on, had a better society than we did: they were less barbaric, no employment
problems and substance abuse, even crime was nearly nonexistent. And even if there were hard times,
life was definitely stable and predictable. And yet that in itself was the reason why man chose to come
out of his savage nature; he wanted adventure, twist and turns in his life; he wanted to feel the thrill of
living. There is nothing wrong with that but for every choice there is a price to pay and the price we
paid was high even if it remains to be seen

Cloning as Solution to Food Shortages and Needs for New...
With food shortages and needs for new medicine, research, and cures, it s hard to think that there
could ever be a solution to these issues. Cloning could be one of the many solutions to the problems
that are afflicting the world as we know it. But that has many people wondering what exactly cloning
is, and, more importantly why people do it. Knowing what cloning is, why people do it, and other
opinions and feelings about cloning could help us solve these issues. To clone means to create a
genetic copy of another organism. Cloning depends on there being two cells, one of a female s egg,
and one from an adult that is intended to be cloned. (Wilmut) There are also a variety of specific types
of cloning, but two main general types: reproductive and non reproductive, also called nuclear
transplantation or therapeutic cloning. ( Cloning ) Nuclear transplantation creates clones in a different
way than reproductive cloning does. Nuclear transplantation starts when the cell is taken from the
adult, which contains the genome of the organism that is wanted to be cloned. (Cloning: Frequently)
An egg is then taken from a female, the nucleus removed, and the cell from the adult is placed into the
female s egg. These two eggs are fused together with an electric current. (Weiss) This causes the egg s
DNA to become that of the subject s egg. (Cloning: Frequently) The egg is then placed into a test tube
and allowed to split there before being placed into the surrogate. ( Cloning )

Odysseus Character Analysis
Zig Ziglar once said, Try to look at your weakness and convert it into your strength. That s success.
This means that even though there may be traits about yourself that are slowing you down, everything
depends on the way you handle them. Although most heroes seem superhuman, they often have
human like weaknesses. Their faults can get them into trouble if they aren t careful. In the book The
Odyssey by Homer, the hero Odysseus has many humanlike flaws like excessive pride, selfishness,

Odysseus exaggerated pride takes over him at times and causes him to make foolish decisions. For

them in. This information shows that Odysseus is a self centered person.
Odysseus shows terrible leadership skills through his words and actions. One way Odysseus lacks
leadership is when he did not tell his crew what was in the sack, so they took matters into their own
hands and loosed the sack and all the winds burst out and a sudden squall struck and swept [them]
back to sea (Book X, 53 54). This means that since Odysseus was keeping secrets from his crew, they
felt the need to open the sack and see what was really inside of it. This could have all been avoided if
he told them the truth to begin with and earn a role as a trustworthy leader. Another way he lacks
leadership is when they were on the island waiting for the giant and one of his shipmates said Let s
make away with the cheeses, then come back hurry, drive the lambs and kids from the pens to our
swift ship, put out to sea at once! But [Odysseus] would not give way (Book IX, 255 258). This shows
that the crew doesn t want to confront the giant because of the risks involved, but Odysseus is not
concerned about the risks and does what he pleases. A good leader would let other people share their
opinions, take the risks into consideration, and then decide what to do, and he did not do

Coffee Cult
The Coffee cult was created as a unifying religion. Drinkers of the bitter liquid accept all kinds of
drinkers: milk and sugar, honey, no sugar, no milk, black and even decaf. Members of the Coffee Cult,
the drinkers, battled the likes of the tea, hot chocolate and soda drinkers for land and power since the
beginning of time. In fact, the coffee cult was the most victorious among beverage worshipers.

In order to become a Barista, one must first show their love and dedication, not only to their family
and closest friends but also to all believers. The Grinder will wake up for 14 days (these days do not
have to be in a row) at 5am to go to his or her local coffeehouse (an optional place with multiple
brewers and grinders where all drinkers can meet and have coffee before they start their day) to brew
and grind coffee for the other drinkers. Because those 14 days do not have to be completed

Visual Analysis Essay Examples
For the photograph that I took, I decided to follow Weston s theme and photograph an organic object
with interesting features. I needed to find something with a vivid texture so that the photograph could
allow the viewer to almost feel what I could. I searched throughout my room until finally, I found
what I was looking for. It was a shell from the Pacific Ocean that I had brought back with me from
Mexico. The shell had off whites blended into browns and reds. It also had ridges running from the
origin of the shell, to the outside. I found the situation to be somewhat ironic considering that Weston
had lived in Mexico taking photographs, and also took pictures of shells. The camera that I used to
photograph the shell was a Canon EOS Rebel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each ridge is visible and grows in size as it migrates from the origin to the edge, which shows how
perfect and mathematical nature can be at times. The change in color pattern is also very visible. There
is even a small chip in the shell can be seen at the top left corner. Some of the lint of the peacoat is
visible in the picture, but it only gives enough so much as to emphasize the texture of the backdrop.
When I went to print the picture, I edited the picture so that it would look black and white like the rest
of Weston s photographs. I also added a little more contrast to the picture so that the lines of the shell
would look a tiny bit sharper because I wanted to make up for not having a 64 aperture. In my
opinion, the photograph holds a very close resemblance to Weston s pictures of shells in which he
tried to capture all of their natural beauty. I like the way the photo turned out, but wish I could have
had a better area to take the picture instead of laying on the ground and using books. The picture may
have come out a hair more detailed if I would have had a tripod, but I don t think it made that big of a
difference. I believe that I was able to try and replicate Weston s process to the best of my ability with

Misconceptions Of Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine and therapy has become a rapidly increasing interest among today s people due to it s
supposed lack of harmful side effects and affordability. They often do a small bit of research and self
prescribe herbal remedies. In doing so however could lead to dangerous and terrible adverse affects.
To combat the misconceptions of herbal medicines, I have done research on the topic. In this essay, I
will describe what herbal medicine is, explore its history and origins, delve deeper into herbal
medicines and remedies used in the widely know concept traditional Chinese medicine, and discuss
the functions and control of modern herbal medicines. The word herb originated from the Latin word
herba, which refers to the green crops and grasses (Koopsen Young, 2009, p.280). The term 塗
erbalism” means 鍍he study and practice of using plant material for food, medicine, and health
promotion” (Koopsen Young, 2009, p.280). This definition of herbalism also refers to the use of
herbs to enhance the quality of life, both physically and spiritually (Koopsen, Young, 2009, p.280).
Herbal and botanical products, and phytomedicines are products made from botanicals used to treat
disease and maintain health while herbal supplements are made from plants and are used solely for
internal use (Herbal medicine, n.d.).The use of herbs for medical purposes goes back thousands of
millennia. There is evidence in an ancient Neanderthal burial from 60,000 years of herbs used for
medicine that

Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play
The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play was
excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I read about Rizal s sacrifices but to actually see it
with my eyes was an eye opener and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are actually different
things. I m not a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually different from any
other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your history book and I
was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play. And, when the audience left the
hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and realizations on the life of Rizal.
Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was predictable but I was
really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard work of each character, the efforts

The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath
In the 1963 novel, The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath depicts the mental breakdown of a young woman, Esther
Greenwood, as a result of the pressures of her environment. Esther grows depressed throughout the
novel and goes crazy due the many conflicting choices she is faced with. In Esther s 1950s society, she
is expected to marry and have children. Yet, she is confronted with her many wants that conflict with
this picture of ideal femininity. As Jay Cee says, Esther wants to be everything (83), and this is
precisely where her dilemma lies. Essentially, Esther s breakdown can be attributed to her fear of
making a choice. This fear is communicated when Esther states I saw my life branching out before me
like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful
future beckoned and winked (62). Esther is torn between the want for many different futures. The
branches suggest that her choices are mutually exclusive, and she is only able to take one path. All the
figs are fat purple, communicating that all the options are equally fruitful, desirable, and attractive,
making Esther s decision extremely difficult. She describes an array of paths including motherhood
and careers, none of which she is able chose from. She states she, wanted each and every one of them,
but choosing one meant loosing all the rest (63). Unable to make a decision she starves to death (63),
and allows the futures to die. She says, the figs began to

Creationism versus Evolutionism
Evolution by natural selection is a result of evolution that leaves organisms well adapted to their
current population but does not make a perfect organism (Smock 2014). Male guppies have shown
over the past 200 years to have more or less colorful patterns decorating their bodies. Studies have
shown that male guppies have more colorful body patterns in areas where there are no predators and
more conservative colorations when in hostile waters (Futuyuma 2009). A 1980 study proved that
once guppies were moved to safer waters, in the next later generations, more colorful male guppies
began to appear (Futuyuma 2009). The guppy applies to the first rule of natural selection that there is
variation in a trait in an organism in a population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other reason that Intelligent Design is not able to stand as a scientific theory is that it is inherently
religious and therefore not actually scientific. That is proven in Judgment Day when it is discovered
that prior to the court ruling that outlawed Creationism being taught in school, the textbook that was
going to be used to teach Intelligent Design was using the word Creationism instead until it was
changed in the next editing phase (Judgment Day 2014).
What one must do to reconcile science and religion is to let go of the idea that one discipline rules out
the other (Miller 2001). Professor Ken Brown theorizes that maybe a higher power created a world
that was complex and alive at it s base and then allow it to be self sustaining, developing on it s own
(Miller 2001) which is a theory that I can agree with. What needs to be understood is that science will
never be able to explain why there is or is not a higher power and religion will never be able to explain
widely accepted theories like evolution (Miller 2001). They both function on their own realities, one
where science answers the natural world around us and one where religion gives meaning to our lives
(Miller 2001). The rift is made because there are people that deny the idea that something other than a
higher power was behind the beginning of

Flamenco Essay
Flamenco is an individualistic folk art, a genuine Southern art form, which was mainly originated by
Andalusian gypsies. It exists in 3 forms: El cante, song, el baile, dance and guitarrra, guitar playing.
Its roots also are with Arabs, Spanish Jews and socially outcasted Christians. The flamenco essence is
song, which is usually accompanied by guitar and improvised dance. Complex rhythmic patterns and
sophisticated footwork differs from other European dance forms.
The word quot;flamenco quot; has been questioned on why an Adalucian music form would be
represented by a word that meant Flemish or flamingos. Most believe that it was Carlos I who brought
with him to Spain from Flanders an entire Flemish court. These Flemish court men, on ... Show more

This is often called Seguiriyas.
Seguiriyas is the oldest written example of flamenco found in the 18th century. Called an indecent
dance by Henry Swinburne of 1779, seguiriyas is one of the many still surviving non Gypsy flamenco
dances.
The many types of cante are similar in the fact that they may share the same rhythm. Although, they
are proved to be very individual in their accentuation and emotional content. The ancestry of el cante
is traced back to the serious forms called Canas and Soleares. From these two, stemmed Alegrias,
which was a lighter form. From the Gypsy culture came Albireas, which was only sung at weddings.
Spanish folk songs and dance the Arab influences and Latin America has influenced many later genres
such as Rumbas, Gitano, and the Columbianos. Black culture played a large role in the formation of
many Latin American music types.

Though Flamenco has very much been acquired by Arabs, Indians, Jews, Gypsies and the Africans the
source of flamenco dance lies in the singing and guitar traditions. Originally, the guitar served as the
companion of flamenco dances. Today flamenco guitar has developed into its own art. Like many
other music forms and styles, flamenco has recently been mixed with jazz, blues, rock and pop music.
This form is embraced by younger people but discarded by a somewhat older quot;purists. quot;
16th century dance included chacona, zerabanda and

The Importance Of Music In My Life
While most other people listen to music they often use the phrases This song is my life., This song
perfectly describes ME. Unfortunately, I am unable to use any of those phrases. I have always had a
hard time finding one song that perfectly fit all the distant corners of my personality, or the situations I
have had to endure. I have had to settle with finding songs that could fit in the playlist called my life.
My life has been one of the most intense rides ever to be ridden in history. Music has helped me
during the times I confronted my biological father about all of my feelings. It has helped me learn how
to not dwell on feeling guilty for expressing how I actually feel. Music has taught me to embrace my
insecurities, and it has guided me in discovering what I want to do with my career. Finally, music has
helped me love myself for what I truly am and nothing that I am not. Music is a powerful force that
cannot only influence other people s attitude, but it also can contribute to their actions. Other people
find serenity in art, jogging, or even MMA fighting, but music is my therapy. The one song that has
made a huge impact on my playlist would have to be Praying, by Kesha. In her music video, she starts
with a monologue that hit me on a personal level that has been something that I live by during my
everyday life. It goes, Am I dead or is this one of those dreams that seems like it goes on forever. If I

Corona Vs Heineken Comparison
Corona vs. Heineken Which is the more superior beer, Corona or Heineken? I believe Corona is the
better beer due to the fact that Corona has the better taste and I would personally drink corona over
Heineken. I once suffered a killer headache that hurt from the head down one night after a long day of
drinking Heineken out on the lake. Corona is the better beer than Heineken, for example, I once
purchased a six pack of each brand to meet my hydration needs to prepare myself for a long, yet fun
lake day. After finishing both servings of beverages, I realized that Corona is the more superior beer
because Corona did not leave that bitter after taste and left me refreshed, resulting in me wishing I had
more. I prefer a cold, refreshing beer, so I understand that any beer with good quality will satisfy a
regular drinker more than the usual watery beer such as Keystone, Coors, or Bud Light. I give praise

Many brewers follow similar recipes, but the ingredients of Corona and Heineken is the second reason

ingredients differ. Although the basic recipe for Heineken is closely guarded, the ingredients are no

gluten with no additional additives. The amount of gluten usually depends on whether the beer is a
lighter or darker colored product, with the lighter beer containing less gluten than the darker beer such

The s Argument That The Holocaust Is Only Available...
Miller, like Glowacka, understands that literature, even fiction, transmits ideas and emotions to the
reader which are central to comprehending and learning from traumatic experiences. Miller references
Susan Suleiman s argument that the Holocaust is only available through representation . Suleiman
made this argument in response to Holocaust deniers who claim that fictitious memoirs confirm the
inexistence of the Holocaust. However, the point supports the idea that art, including literature, allows
the public to experience something like the Holocaust that otherwise would be not be available to
experience.
On the other hand, Miller successfully argues that fake memoirs are meant to highlight the
problematic nature of authenticity and capitalism has changed the idea of what we think is real and
what is not. By citing Baudrillard, Miller states that our idea of real is only a series of representations
that we think are real. In fact, all our ideas of reality are fabrications because memory is not factual.
The discovery of these fake memoirs can cause society to realize that all memoirs are, in fact,
fabrications. With that in mind, this article contradicts the idea that the public can understand trauma
through experiencing art. Overall, Stylised Configurations of Trauma contributes to the art, trauma,
and memory theme through proving that the study of fraudulent memoirs can help explain the strange
expectation that literature is able to provide access to something

Child And Teen Beauty Pageants
It is not easy to be in the public s eye and constantly being watched can take a toll on a person.
Hundreds of child stars have grown up to be consumed with depression, eating disorders, drug and
alcohol addiction, and severe self esteem issues. So why would children that perform in child and teen
beauty pageants be any different? They are constantly being judged by their looks, their actions, their
poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on. That could severely affect the
way these children see themselves as they get older. When a child is constantly being watched and
criticized in every aspect, they develop a complex and a need to be perfect, when in fact perfection
does not exist. This is when their depression or drug addictions might seep in, when they realize they
can never live up to the standards that others have set on them. This is a very dangerous place to be,
and no child or teenager should have to suffer through such a time as this. Childhood should be full of
playing outside with friends, going to the pool or amusement park, visiting the beach or the mountains
with family. It shouldn t consist of maintaining perfection with all the fakeness day in and day out, or
there could be some very real consequences that might follow. Although there are massive amounts of
negatives that go along with child beauty pageants, there are also some positive aspects to them. Some

Benefits Of Intermediate Corrections
Intermediate sanctions have been a valuable aspect in the court systems. In my opinion, I believe they
have made a difference in the court process because these programs offer an alternative outcome to the
defendant s criminal case. I believe the reason it hasn t made the impact aspired by legislators is due to
sentencing issues judges face from advocates of deserved punishment believers and the fact that
handing down alternative sentences to people with different outcomes could lead to people accusing
the courts of not being equal when sentencing individuals to jail time or probation. The sanction that I
believe could be most effective would have to be community service and restitution because what

I believe that if a person can see the harm their actions have caused towards the victim at least
nonviolent offenders, and be forced to pay restitutions to both the victim and the court, then quite
possibly it could make the individual not want to repeat their criminal actions. Other countries such as
Germany, England, Sweden and most other European countries have already taken this form of
punishment into effect leading to less of a financial burden on its citizens. In addition to community
service and restitution, I have come to the conclusion that the best form of intermediate sanctions for
juveniles would be boot camp. Juvenile offenders often lack the adult figure in their lives and tend to

Three Main Ideas From The Communist Manifesto
Foundations of Sociology essay (Soc 10010)
Describe the three main ideas from the Communist Manifesto.
In this essay I will discuss three of the main ideas from Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto . I have
chosen to look at class struggles, the abolishment of private property and the idea that states look after
the dominant classes in societies. I chose these as I found them to be the three main ideas that stood
out to me most after reading the book. I have delved into each one and shown why I think they are the
three main ideas. I found them to be very interesting ideas which Marx has communicated very well.

There are never really major reforms to help all, after revolutions. The bourgeoisie, in France, had
been oppressed and after overthrowing the very distinct upper class they now held the power. During
the revolution they campaigned for liberty, equality and fraternity. This did not materialise afterwards
as stated by Marx:
The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done away
with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression, new forms
of struggle in place of the old ones. Marx (1848, p.74)
Marx proves that even when societies have fought for something like freedom, it does not always last.
The bourgeois brought in capitalism, which brought freedom, but it brought freedom to the bourgeois
and left the other classes behind with very little or nothing. This shows that economics have a massive
hold on where the power in societies

A Short Note On The De La Combinacion

Netflix s business model and strategy compare closely to its key rivals. Although, Netflix won a patent
that covered much of its business model and could be used to help stifle competition in the future
(Thompson C 33) . Netflix has a team of executives that manage only the on line DVD rental
enterprise. They are well established and use a very sophisticated software program thereby making
movie selection easy and fun. In my analysis, Blockbuster has many retail stores to contend with and
many other facets of a business enterprise, thereby not having a unique team of individuals solely

Masculine Vs. Feminine Power in The Good Earth
Masculine Versus Feminine Power In many cultures, even today, there are stereotypes about women;
i.e. that their job is to cook and clean, or that they are not as strong as men are. Many people would
probably admit that they view men as tougher individuals whose responsibility is to protect and put
food on the table. This theme of the male versus female power constitutes as prevalent in both Things
Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and The Good Earth by Pearl Buck. These authors intricately weave this
idea into their novels through their characters specific duties, their characters behaviors and emotions,

Both novels characterize men as the hard workers, but it is clear the women also have many difficult
tasks expected of them. It is true that personality differs from person to person, but to Okonkwo, only
certain behaviors and emotions are acceptable for a man. He seems to regard all other emotions and
behaviors as too womanly. Achebe characterizes Okonkwo as one who has a fiery temper, and
Okonkwo is even given the nickname Roaring Flame . Okonkwo strived to hate everything his father
had loved. One of those things was gentleness and another was idleness (Achebe 11). Okonkwo s
wives are truly terrified of him and therefore they remain very soft spoken, and do not show their

Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone
Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is
experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker
of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting
because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive
diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with.
Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is
in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the
descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low.
(Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that
he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is
currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself
from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because
your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has
caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings
of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather

Struggle In The Tempest And Man s Search For Meaning
Experiences encompassed in times of struggle can lead to a new transformative perspective of one s
relationship with self and the world. William Shakespeare s last play The Tempest (1610), canvasses
loss catalysing rediscovering the importance of life resulting in a greater understanding of how our
flaws compromise our humanity. Prospero, the usurped Duke of Milan, shows this to be true, moving
from a mindset focused on vengeance to a profound discovery of self. Similarly, in Man s Search for
Meaning (1946), fulfillment with discovering how we choose to cope and find meaning/purpose in life
through unrelenting struggle is illustrated. The three part non fiction told by psychiatrist Viktor E.
Frankl, depicts his ordeal inside of concentration camps during the Second World War, elaborating on
finding true meaning in life even under the most horrific circumstances. Frankl shares his process of
discovery demonstrating his ability to overcome the most overwhelming experience leading to
doorway of meaning, purpose and happiness.
Power and control can limit the ability to realize the potential to discover. Shakespeare s late romance
The Tempest, written in early 17th century follows the usurpation of protagonist Prospero, betrayed by
his brother and with a preoccupation for magic he finds himself in exile on a remote island with his
three year old daughter, Miranda. Prospero seeks to enact revenge on those he feels have wronged
him. Twelve years of harbouring bitterness

Alternatives For Overcrowding Emergency Departments
ALTERNATIVES FOR OVERCROWDING EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS
Meeting the Challenge and Filling the Gaps in America s Healthcare System
Executive Summary: Many visits to the Emergency Department are made for non emergent needs.
This causes congestion in the healthcare system and makes it harder for those who truly need
emergent medical attention receive the care they need. Aging populations, under or non insured
patients, Medicaid expansions, and Psychiatric/Behavioral Health problems directly impact
overcrowding in the Emergency Department. Providing alternative facilities and services, and utilizing
Community Paramedicine programs will alleviate the strain overcrowding Emergency Departments
face on a regular basis.
Introduction: Overcrowding in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Federal Mandates: Annual visits to the Emergency Department in the United States grew by 40%
between 1998 and 2013 while the number of hospitals with an Emergency Department available
declined by 14% (Newhook, 2014). Emergency Medicine is the only specialty within the House of
Medicine that carries mandates from the federal government to provide care to anyone who requests
it. One such federal mandate is The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA).
The EMTALA requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care and treatment to anyone
needing or requesting it, regardless of their ability to pay, legal status, and citizenship (Barish,
Mcgauly, Arnold, 2012). A survey conducted by the American Hospital Association (2010) revealed
that more than half of America s urban hospital emergency departments were at or over capacity 130
out of 168 hours in a given week. The surveyed showed non emergent visits tripled the emergent
visits.
Behavioral Health: Instance of Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Problems have significantly increased
over the last few decades. While many of the causes are unknown, Behavioral problems negatively
impact overcrowding in the emergency department. David Judge (2013) reports Mental Health related
ED visits have increased 75% between 2002 2014. The issues is not the fact there is an

The clients that I met so far have interesting stories that I could link to my experience. There are
stories that had me crying and questioned so many things in life. What I love from clients that I met is
they strive for change. Not only that they mention it, but they show it by their actions that they are
ready to adopt changes in their lives and they would do whatever it takes to meet their goals. My
perspectives about the social workers at Heartfelt is they make me proud of choosing social work and
also their diligent have helped me embraced things that I have never thought about in the social work
field and in life. What have surprised me is the trust that my supervisor and the rest of the employee
have in me. They count on me when completing task and embrace and value my voice in meetings.
For instance, my supervisor let me trained current and new employees completing tasks. At first, I felt
awkward training people who have more experience than me and they are accredited professionals. It
is just amazing how the workers put their egos aside and are open to learn from others. In terms of
ethical dilemma, I have not yet encountered one.

Elie Wiesel s My Hero
There are many views on what a hero is. When you hear the word hero, what is the first thing that
comes to mind? Do you imagine Superman saving a damsel in distress, perhaps you think of a family
member, or a popstar? Over time the word hero has mutated and become disfigured, so that our
generation has no idea what it truly means. So, what is a hero and is it healthy to give them our
adoration?
In the article, My Hero: Extraordinary People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them by Elie Wiesel, the
author expresses his opinion on the idea of heroes. Wiesel starts off by stating, I am deeply skeptical
about the very concept of the hero for many reasons and I am uncomfortable with what happens in
societies where heroes are worshipped. He continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weisel thinks that people blindly believe in their heroes without knowing them, or what they stand for.
Jack rises to power, because the other boys need someone or something to believe in. Jack knows this,
so he takes advantage of the situation. He says, I ought to be chief, because I m chapter chorister and
head boy. I can sing C sharp (William Golding 23). The choir boys have already experienced so much
change, so they need to have a constant in their lives. Jack was already their leader before, so they
decide to follow him. At the time, the boys had no idea Jack stood for savagery, but when they find out
it s too late to turn back. The boys are already hooked by Jack, so they decide to stand by him. Jason s
opinion that heroes aren t that special, is true. Jack, leader of the choir boys, and Ralph, leader of all
the others, were just normal boys too. These two boys were just put in abnormal positions.
I believe both men have an ineffectual point in their essays. It would be difficult to go through this
world without believing in heroes. Heroes give strength and encourage people. Yes, I agree people
need to know their heroes, and understand their motives. It s not safe to give strangers blatant
idolization. With worship and idolization comes power. I also agree that our heroes are not all that
special. They are still people like us, and they make mistakes. Furthermore, there is still an importance
in having heroes.

Ode to a Nightingale This essay discusses the numerous...
In his poem Ode to a Nightingale, John Keats uses powerful, distinct symbolism and imagery. The
nightingale, for instance, is interpreted by many to be a symbol of Keats poetic inspiration and
satisfaction. This symbolism can be seen by the vivid descriptions Keats hives the nightingale.
However, the nightingale is definitely not the only item of symbolism in Ode to a Nightingale. In a
short piece of art, Keats apparently has mastered using many different items, phrases, and brilliant,
descriptive metaphorical text to symbolize something he yearns for. Countless pieces of the poem
indicate that he also wishes for immortality and the ability to escape from reality and into another state
of consciousness and the ecstasy of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By an effort of the imagination, Keats attempts to suppress all knowledge of the human
suffering made evident in stanza three. He seeks to completely enter into the ecstasy of the nightingale
s song so he becomes nothing more than an instrument recording the tiniest of physical sensation. For
example, in stanza five, Keats describes the beauty of a place in the most minute detail. Since he is
unable to actually see this place, he is using the sheer force of his imagination. In this particular
stanza, the use of imagery is indeed present. The soft sounds and descriptions of flowers yield a very
enchanting and beautiful atmosphere. Where Keats says, Now more than ever seems it rich to die, / To
cease upon the midnight with no pain, / While thou art pouring forth thy soul abroad / In such an
ecstasy! (lines 55 58), is an indication of how he believes it would be marvelous for his life to end in
such a state of blissful heaven. However, the irony of this is that, in Keats case, death would mean the
end of the nightingale s song. He realizes this when he says, Still wouldst thou sing, and I have ears in
vain / to thy high requiem become a sod. (lines 59 60). This piece is an indication of Keats
enchantment with the nightingale and its song.

The Motivation Of Girl Scouts In High School
When I was little, my parents decided to put me in Girl Scouts in fifth grade. By the time I was in high
school, I had already received both my bronze and silver award, so I decided to continue and go for
the Gold. The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout could achieve, and only 5 percent of
eligible girls earn it. To me personally, the hardest part of receiving this award, was deciding what I
was going to do. Several ideas came to my mind, but I decided to call the Ruthe B. Cowl
Rehabilitation Center, my city s local physical therapy center, to see what they needed. We set up a
meeting, and they told me how they have been looking for someone to help upgrade their Kids Zone.
They had a massive room for the kids to do physical therapy

David Mann Recommendation
I am very pleased to provide this recommendation on behalf of David Mann. From day one, David has
been very effective in running the office and carrying out all administrative procedures in a highly
organized and diplomatic way. These skills were readily apparent from the start and have grown and
strengthened during his time here. David coordinates departmental events and travel, and all the
events and trips that he has planned have been well executed. He has frequently called ahead at
different venues to make sure everything goes well for everyone, both students and staff, in
attendance. David also maintains most of the departmental correspondence, proving time and again to
be capable of consistently producing well refined, diplomatic, well crafted messages. He handles
record keeping, and manages the departmental budget, keeping it balanced and in the black while
providing all necessities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David not only took the initiative with creating all of the new documentation but also developed a
proposal for an alternate way of executing program. The new plan reduces the time involved without
sacrificing quality and benefit of the program. In sharing all this, I hope to convey to you what I see
and have experience: that David is not simply a hired staff member he is someone who is deeply
committed, who strives successfully every day to do his best and to make a difference. David is
dependable, honest, and kind; he cares about people and is always available to answer questions and
assist others, even during his busiest moments. One of the best things I did since coming to Andrews
University three years ago was hiring David. Though I would hate to see him go, I believe he truly
deserves the best, and I am happy to do the little I can to help with at by providing this strong
recommendation on his behalf. Please feel contact me with any questions you may have or to seek

Asked to Serve My Country
One afternoon in late November, after Thanksgiving Day. It was an
ordinary day I had my ordinary breakfast; a hard boil egg and an english muffin. As I read my
newspaper The Minnesota Times about the murder nearby. As I was getting into the reading about this
murder. I thought to myself what it felt like to get shot. I said to myself you wouldn t be screaming or
crying you would just have the pain and take it like a normal solider. I felt it in detail, I felt the dark
thick red blood dripping down my legs and all over my body, I felt pain.
I was a curious young man, I thought about the soldiers, who probably get shot every other week. I
always knew they were courageous men. I thought about my great grandfather, and how brave he was
to go out to war, and fight for our country but I never wanted to go out to war that s when I first
started to think about how the war life might be like hard, easy, intense, scary, I don t know. I was
about ten years of age I never had the thought about war, until now. I knew the war was a horrible
scene.
Eight years later that all changed, It was a regular day in little town Austin, Minnesota, I was finishing
up lunch. Then grabbed the keys for my mail box. When I walk outside towards the mail I felt
butterflies in my stomach. I didn t understand why I kept think maybe it was something I ate. Then it
got worst I felt something was going to go wrong. Every step I took down each cemented stair I felt
my hands becoming num, my arms becoming

This can result in osteoporosis and a reduction of weight bearing capacity, leading to the possibility of spontaneous fracture. Thinning of the vertebrae also results in a reduction in height. In addition, the vertebrae calcify, resulting in postural changes and increasing rigidity, making bending difficult. The joints also undergo changes. In fact, arthritis, the degenerative inflammation of the joints, is the most common chronic condition in the elderly. The two most common forms are: • osteoarthritis (a wearing away of the joint cartilage) • rheumatoid arthritis (a disease of the connective tissue) These conditions can impair mobility and the performance of daily activities of living. For persons with disabilities this condition may occur at an earlier age. As we age, we experience a reduction in the production of hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, and saliva, as well as a reduction in the total number of taste buds. These changes can result in: • gastrointestinal distress • impaired swallowing • delayed emptying of the stomach Perhaps more importantly, the breakdown and absorption of foods may also be impaired, sometimes resulting in vitamin deficiencies of B, C, and K vitamins or, in extreme cases, malnutrition. • 3. Various Approaches Of System Analysis Various Approaches for Systems Analysis and Design Introduction First, we look what is the difference between system analysis and system design. System analysis is a problem solving technique that decomposes the system into its component pieces and system design is a complimentary problem solving technique that reassembles the component pieces of the system back into a complete system. When we are developing an information system, most organizations use a standard of steps. The steps are called development lifecycle(SDLC). SDLC consists of phases such as planning, analysis, implementation, design, and maintenance. Analysis phase is where you take a closer look and study the current system. The design phase, analysts design all aspects of the system, specifying on the system from input and output screens to database, computers, and report processes. And I m going to say something that I think perhaps ought to be done more by people in public life. I m going to admit right here that the United States did make a mistake in 1946. We made a mistake because we misjudged the intention of the Soviet leaders. (Walt 168) Although the United States did well in eliminating any future threats from Japan, it was realized later on that Japan was left in the midst of a violent wave of communism with no means of defense but for the United States which did not wish for a direct war on the Soviets, who backed all communist countries. After disarmament was complete, MacArthur s next task was to see that Japan adopted a new, and democratic, constitution. When the Japanese government proved too confused or too reluctant to write a constitutional reform that satisfied MacArthur, he had his own staff draft a new constitution in February of 1946. This, with only minor changes made to please the conservative groups in Japan, was then adopted by the Japanese government in the form of an imperial amendment to the 1889 constitution. Japan s new democracy went into effect on May 3, 1947. The new constitution was a perfection of the British parliamentary form of government that the Japanese had been moving toward in the 1920 s. Further 1960s developments Also in 1961 another student at MIT, Steve Russell, created the first video game, Spacewar. Written for the DEC PDP 1, Spacewar was an instant success and copies started flowing to other PDP 1 owners and eventually even DEC got a copy. The engineers at DEC used it as a diagnostic program on every new PDP 1 before shipping it. • 13. Proactive And Begin With The End Of Mind By Stephen R.... Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind Stephen R. Covey writes that there is not a greater investment to grow in new habits, and he invites his readers to study these habits and be patient with ourselves. I like that he writes, be patient with ourselves, because we are people that are not perfect and we cannot achieve that perfection in ourselves. The first two habits are, Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind. Both of these habits are about moving from independence to interdependence that focus mainly on our choices or mastering your thoughts. I like Covey s statement, I am responsible for me, and I can choose. Proactive When I first thought of proactive, it meant to recall all of the scenarios that may come up so that I may be ready. Actually, this is how Covey uses his right brain, in imaging all the things that can go wrong and dreaming up ways to help. This is natural for me to meditate this way. However, this kind of proactive can create worry and keep me up late over visualizing. I prefer praying and sitting with Jesus, because it is impossible to come up with everything alone in my own head and this causes too much work. I believe in working with a team and what comes to each of us in a situation is valuable and ideas that could only come from someone who ruminates different that I do. Overly proactive people sometimes can be manipulative, because they have already worked through everything in their head and if they are open to new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What he s referring to is the human trafficking issue that has boomed in this country. Human trafficking has existed in Haiti for years, destroying families and individuals. The issue hasn t been this big until recent years, which I plan to look into. Human trafficking has become such a huge industry not only in Haiti, but also through the whole world causing it to have such a huge impact on global politics. What I plan to investigate is how the issue of human trafficking affects global politics in a whole. Before going too deep into this issue, everyone should understand what human trafficking is. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. This may include providing a spouse in a forced marriage or the extraction of organs or tissues. Yuri Fedotov, the head of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, said, At any one time, 2.4 million people suffer the misery of this humiliating and degrading crime. It is estimated that only one out of 100 victims of trafficking are ever rescued. When first looking into this issue, I wondered why human trafficking has become such a huge problem in Haiti so I tried to find some connection between the two and I what found was tragic. • 15. The Importance Of Sociology Bettering oneself. Due to the decline of social skills, many Americans have fallen to the idea of perception becoming a reality regarding social norms. Over the past decade, many Americans have not been able to come together and stop the increase of social injustices. Sociology should be a required subject because it promotes problem solving, it provides students with a basic understanding of how society functions, and it opens up many career options. Problem solving in society is important because in life there are many problems one might face, if students take a sociology class they will be able to gain more of an insight on how to solve these problems. As said in the web article Importance Of Sociology, Sociology is of great importance in the solution of social problems . This gives one of the main reasons and founding ideas of sociology; as well as one of the main reasons it should be taught in school. Once students are able to implement and apply sociology into their life, it will make life easier since they will have new problem solving tools to solve the many problems in society. Using problem solving, students will be able to expand their views and give oneself more opportunities. With this in mind, while using problem solving, students will come across solutions and ideas that would previously not have been thought of while trying to solve a problem. There are three doctrines which have attained sacred status in modern intellectual life. And as good as it may sound, I think it appeals to man s egotistic nature; we as humans who have done things, good and evil, try to look for a sound explanation to ease our consciences. I cannot say that the idea does not appeal to me yet I cannot also say that I do agree with it; on the other hand, of the three doctrines, I agree the most with the doctrine of The Noble Savage. I do believe that in our true nature, we are savages but that does not mean that we did not know how to control ourselves; indeed it would seem that the Native Americans, the specific race of people that the Europeans based the doctrine of The Noble Savage on, had a better society than we did: they were less barbaric, no employment problems and substance abuse, even crime was nearly nonexistent. And even if there were hard times, life was definitely stable and predictable. And yet that in itself was the reason why man chose to come out of his savage nature; he wanted adventure, twist and turns in his life; he wanted to feel the thrill of living. With food shortages and needs for new medicine, research, and cures, it s hard to think that there could ever be a solution to these issues. Cloning could be one of the many solutions to the problems that are afflicting the world as we know it. But that has many people wondering what exactly cloning is, and, more importantly why people do it. Knowing what cloning is, why people do it, and other opinions and feelings about cloning could help us solve these issues. To clone means to create a genetic copy of another organism. Cloning depends on there being two cells, one of a female s egg, and one from an adult that is intended to be cloned. (Wilmut) There are also a variety of specific types of cloning, but two main general types: reproductive and non reproductive, also called nuclear transplantation or therapeutic cloning. ( Cloning ) Nuclear transplantation creates clones in a different way than reproductive cloning does. Nuclear transplantation starts when the cell is taken from the adult, which contains the genome of the organism that is wanted to be cloned. (Cloning: Frequently) An egg is then taken from a female, the nucleus removed, and the cell from the adult is placed into the female s egg. These two eggs are fused together with an electric current. (Weiss) This causes the egg s DNA to become that of the subject s egg. (Cloning: Frequently) The egg is then placed into a test tube and allowed to split there before being placed into the surrogate. This means that since Odysseus was keeping secrets from his crew, they felt the need to open the sack and see what was really inside of it. This could have all been avoided if he told them the truth to begin with and earn a role as a trustworthy leader. Another way he lacks leadership is when they were on the island waiting for the giant and one of his shipmates said Let s make away with the cheeses, then come back hurry, drive the lambs and kids from the pens to our swift ship, put out to sea at once! But [Odysseus] would not give way (Book IX, 255 258). To combat the misconceptions of herbal medicines, I have done research on the topic. Esther grows depressed throughout the novel and goes crazy due the many conflicting choices she is faced with. In Esther s 1950s society, she is expected to marry and have children. Yet, she is confronted with her many wants that conflict with this picture of ideal femininity. As Jay Cee says, Esther wants to be everything (83), and this is precisely where her dilemma lies. Essentially, Esther s breakdown can be attributed to her fear of making a choice. This fear is communicated when Esther states I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked (62). Esther is torn between the want for many different futures. The branches suggest that her choices are mutually exclusive, and she is only able to take one path. All the figs are fat purple, communicating that all the options are equally fruitful, desirable, and attractive, making Esther s decision extremely difficult. She describes an array of paths including motherhood and careers, none of which she is able chose from. Miller, like Glowacka, understands that literature, even fiction, transmits ideas and emotions to the reader which are central to comprehending and learning from traumatic experiences. Miller references Susan Suleiman s argument that the Holocaust is only available through representation . Suleiman made this argument in response to Holocaust deniers who claim that fictitious memoirs confirm the inexistence of the Holocaust. However, the point supports the idea that art, including literature, allows the public to experience something like the Holocaust that otherwise would be not be available to experience. On the other hand, Miller successfully argues that fake memoirs are meant to highlight the problematic nature of authenticity and capitalism has changed the idea of what we think is real and what is not. By citing Baudrillard, Miller states that our idea of real is only a series of representations that we think are real. In fact, all our ideas of reality are fabrications because memory is not factual. The discovery of these fake memoirs can cause society to realize that all memoirs are, in fact, fabrications. With that in mind, this article contradicts the idea that the public can understand trauma through experiencing art. Netflix exhibits dominant economic characteristics in the online movie rental business. They enjoy strong market size and growth rate when compared to rivalry competition. The number of rivalries are increasing, and the market remains dominated by only a few sizeable rivalries like Blockbuster Video, Wal Mart, Walt Disney Movies and Movielink s Downloadable Movies. Viewing the company s profile and financial growth over the last few years indicates that Netflix strategy and vision has been implemented successfully, achieving strong strategic growth and a sustainable competitive advantage. Netflix s business model and strategy compare closely to its key rivals. Although, Netflix won a patent that covered much of its business model and could be used to help stifle competition in the future (Thompson C 33) . Netflix has a team of executives that manage only the on line DVD rental enterprise. They are well established and use a very sophisticated software program thereby making movie selection easy and fun. In my analysis, Blockbuster has many retail stores to contend with and many other facets of a business enterprise, thereby not having a unique team of individuals solely dedicated to the on line DVD rental business. Wal Mart would be Netflix s greatest fear due to the enormous capital available and expertise that could be employed, yet Wal Mart continues to lag behind Netflix. Wal Mart s online software needs a lot of debugging, whereas Netflix had already spent several years debugging its software (Thompson C 37). The online movie rental business is changing. As technology changes, DVD s will not be the medium of choice. The shift will be downloadable movies. Most people enjoy the ability to watch a movie immediately, thus another of Netflix s ... • 38. Masculine Vs. Feminine Power in The Good Earth Masculine Versus Feminine Power In many cultures, even today, there are stereotypes about women; i.e. that their job is to cook and clean, or that they are not as strong as men are. Many people would probably admit that they view men as tougher individuals whose responsibility is to protect and put food on the table. This theme of the male versus female power constitutes as prevalent in both Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and The Good Earth by Pearl Buck. These authors intricately weave this idea into their novels through their characters specific duties, their characters behaviors and emotions, and the way children are viewed and treated according to gender. Both novels are set in the late 19th, early 20th century, but take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both novels characterize men as the hard workers, but it is clear the women also have many difficult tasks expected of them. It is true that personality differs from person to person, but to Okonkwo, only certain behaviors and emotions are acceptable for a man. He seems to regard all other emotions and behaviors as too womanly. Achebe characterizes Okonkwo as one who has a fiery temper, and Okonkwo is even given the nickname Roaring Flame . Okonkwo strived to hate everything his father had loved. One of those things was gentleness and another was idleness (Achebe 11). Okonkwo s wives are truly terrified of him and therefore they remain very soft spoken, and do not show their emotions often. Wang Lung also shows his temper, and hides other emotions. Such as when O lan s first child is a boy, he is overjoyed but does not outwardly express it. O lan, being a woman, must hide her true feelings. For example, when Wang Lung demands for her pearls, But O lan returned to the beating of his clothes and when tears dropped slowly and heavily from her eyes she did not put up her hand to wipe them away; only she beat more steadily.. (Buck 135). Both novels characterize the male protagonists as angry men, with gentle and quiet wives. • 39. Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with. Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low. (Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emergency Medicine is the only specialty within the House of Medicine that carries mandates from the federal government to provide care to anyone who requests it. One such federal mandate is The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA). The EMTALA requires hospitals and ambulance services to provide care and treatment to anyone needing or requesting it, regardless of their ability to pay, legal status, and citizenship (Barish, Mcgauly, Arnold, 2012). A survey conducted by the American Hospital Association (2010) revealed that more than half of America s urban hospital emergency departments were at or over capacity 130 out of 168 hours in a given week. Do you imagine Superman saving a damsel in distress, perhaps you think of a family member, or a popstar? Over time the word hero has mutated and become disfigured, so that our generation has no idea what it truly means. So, what is a hero and is it healthy to give them our adoration? In the article, My Hero: Extraordinary People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them by Elie Wiesel, the author expresses his opinion on the idea of heroes. The choir boys have already experienced so much change, so they need to have a constant in their lives. Jack was already their leader before, so they decide to follow him. Jason s opinion that heroes aren t that special, is true. Jack, leader of the choir boys, and Ralph, leader of all the others, were just normal boys too. The nightingale, for instance, is interpreted by many to be a symbol of Keats poetic inspiration and satisfaction. This symbolism can be seen by the vivid descriptions Keats hives the nightingale. However, the nightingale is definitely not the only item of symbolism in Ode to a Nightingale. In a short piece of art, Keats apparently has mastered using many different items, phrases, and brilliant, descriptive metaphorical text to symbolize something he yearns for. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By an effort of the imagination, Keats attempts to suppress all knowledge of the human suffering made evident in stanza three. He seeks to completely enter into the ecstasy of the nightingale s song so he becomes nothing more than an instrument recording the tiniest of physical sensation. For example, in stanza five, Keats describes the beauty of a place in the most minute detail. Since he is unable to actually see this place, he is using the sheer force of his imagination. In this particular stanza, the use of imagery is indeed present. The soft sounds and descriptions of flowers yield a very enchanting and beautiful atmosphere. Where Keats says, Now more than ever seems it rich to die, / To cease upon the midnight with no pain, / While thou art pouring forth thy soul abroad / In such an ecstasy! (lines 55 58), is an indication of how he believes it would be marvelous for his life to end in such a state of blissful heaven. However, the irony of this is that, in Keats case, death would mean the end of the nightingale s song.
