Interpersonal Communication Research Paper
Imagine you are in New York City on your way to a meeting for work. You stop and feel your pocket
for the piece of paper that contains the actual address and directions in your pocket, but it is not there.
You must have left it in your apartment but there is no time to go back. You remember the name of the
restaurant but have no idea where it is. You realize that you are lost and need help finding where to go.
You look over at the crosswalk and a woman your age is walking across the street. You have two
options: Either take out your phone and search on google maps for directions, or walk over to the
women who is crossing the street and ask her. You decide to ask the girl for directions and as it turns
out she is headed there too on her lunch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only teenagers and middle aged adults, but even young children are addicted to staring down at a
blue screen. How many times during the past year have you walked by a playground and heard the
contagious laughter of young children playing? I bet that this number is very small. When I was nine
years old, I remember what my favorite thing to do after school was. It was to play. Similar to every
other child at the time, running around an open field or zipping down a slide was all I wanted. But
today, the hushed silence I experience as I walk past the devoid park gives me chills as I watch the
swings and slides wait to give joy to laughing children that used to frolic here everyday, but now
remain quiet in their secluded houses. Not because it s cold outside, but because nine year olds today
are copying our technological obsession. Did you know that on average, children get their first
cellphones at age eight? Our generation is becoming the most antisocial generation yet. Although
many people disagree and believe that using technology, especially cell phones, make them more
social, I don t understand how sitting at home on a Friday night, texting or blogging, is more social
than hanging out with your friends and enjoying the company of others. Although numerous people
disagree with me, stating that technology is making people more social, I remain committed to my
belief. For people who

Reseach Proposal-Consumer Behaviour to Change in Packaging...
CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR TO CHANGE IN PACKAGING DESIGN OF FMCG PRODUCTS.
Introduction
Design is increasingly used by firms as a strategy to create a substantial competitive advantage. Good
design uniquely differentiates a product. Companies mastering the art of design have emerged as
leaders in their respective markets. In this proposal, i examine how consumers respond to the visual
aspects of packaging design and benefits of studying consumer behavior.
The importance of packaging design as a vehicle for communication and branding is growing in
competitive markets for packaged FMCG products. This research utilized a focus group methodology
to understand consumer behavior toward such products. The challenge for researchers is to ... Show

In time, packaging weight has decreased as compared to the packed product. Nevertheless,
consumption patterns have generated a higher packaging volume because of the constant changes in
demography and life styles. It is the volume of packaging and not so much its weight that attracts
critical eyes (Calver, 2004). In addition, the predilection for pre packed food has increased the amount
of plastic waste within the general waste flow.
ConsumerPsychologist.com, part of the University of Southern California, define consumer behaviour
as the study of individuals, groups or organizations and the processes they use to select, secure, use
and dispose of products, services, experiences or ideas to satisfy needs. Essentially, consumer
behavior deals with how frequently a person or organization may purchase an item from a company. It
closely relates to elements of customer service such as problem resolution and overall satisfaction and
to marketing strategies such as pricing, promotion and product placement.
Why Study Consumer Behaviour?
Understanding consumer behaviour may lead to changes in the design of a pilot product, a product s
packaging or its position within the store. Understanding why customers buy what they do also helps a
company create campaigns to encourage repeat purchase and referrals.
Consumers make decisions for different

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is known as a very important idealist in Turkey, which had become an idol for
Turks. One of the most important reasons he was that crucial for Turkey was that him being a
nationalist founder and leader, and the first president of the Turkish Republic. Ataturk was born in
Salonika (then known as the Ottoman Empire), in 1881. The real truth is that, Ataturk, still being at his
young ages, started to think about making reforms for his country and society, and eventually had
reached his goals making Turkey a free and civilized country, by also being the first president of

The transition of a multinational empire to a nation state has happened; therefore, Turkey s national
identity has been established. In the creation of this identity, qualification of individuals as a citizen
has been a crucial point. Ataturk found the path for the public administration by setting a new
democracy which is Republic . Secondly, Populism means being against class differences and
inequalities, and not accepting the individuals, families, classes, and organizations being above one
another. The Republican Revolution also has the characteristic of the social revolution. At first,
including the Swiss civil code, Western laws were applied in Turkey, so, there have been changes in
the status of women, in 1934, being able to elect or be elected by others. Moreover, Ataturk had also
improved the idea of laicism. Laicism, despite the fact that it separates state from religion; it also
means that education, culture, and other living areas, being independent of religion. Thus, it means the
freedom of thinking and expressing your thoughts without including religion. In the aspect of Ataturk,
laicism had to come to Turkey, in order to bring peace between the citizens of this country. To

that has been inherited, according to Google. In the short story Everyday Use the role of heritage is
explored when the main character, Dee, and her mother have different views of their heritage. The
main event where heritage is shown is when Dee arrives and asks for the quilts that have been passed
down through generations. The story begins with Mama (the narrator) and Maggie (the youngest
daughter) awaiting Dee s (the eldest daughter) arrival. The author in Everyday Use uses Mama s point
of view, as well as her flashbacks in time to convey the family s conflicting view regarding heritage
and traditions. Dee views her family heritage

Difference Between Graphic Design And Typography
INTRODUCTION
This is a research paper about Graphic Design and Typography and the comparison of artists Paula
Scher and Neville Brody. Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem solving
using one or more of typography, photography, and illustration. The field is considered a subset of
visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term graphic design is used
synonymously. Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images, and text to form visual
representations of ideas and messages. They use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to
create visual compositions. Common uses of graphic design include corporate design logos and
branding, editorial design magazines, newspapers, and books, wayfinding or environmental design,
advertising, web design, communication design, product packaging, and signage. Whereas
Typography is everywhere we look. It s in the books we read, on the websites we visit, even in
everyday life on street signs, bumper stickers, and product packaging.
But what exactly is typography? Simply put, typography is the style or appearance of text. It ... Show

decisions a designer can make: it will make or break a design. Using fonts effectively is one of the

through typography. Remember, graphic design is all about communication: always think about how
your message is conveyed through your choice of images and, most importantly, typography! Just like
Scher who has always aimed to create expressionist typography, and feels that words have meaning
and typography has feeling and combines the two, and Brody who has designed a number of well

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Swot
Strengths One of CanGo s major strengths is that roughly 80 percent of their sales come from Just In
Time (JIT) inventory ( Financial Information, n.d.). Having such a high percentage of their sales
coming from JIT inventory allows CanGo to keep their overhead expenses low while still ensuring
their products are still available. One of the ways that this lowers their overhead is by reducing the
warehouse space needed. Since most of the inventory arrives just in time to be shipped, there is no
need to have a place to store it. Keeping their JIT inventory at roughly 80 percent also helps CanGo to
serve their customers faster and more efficiently by giving them more control over the manufacturing
process. This control makes it easier to quickly respond to any changes in the customer s needs
(Conrad, n.d.). Another one of their strengths is that they have positive sales for all their divisions. The
assumptions statement on their financial statement says that their online book sales division is their
only profitable division. However, their financial statements show that their MP3/CD/DVD division
had a 233.3 percent increase from to 2008 to 2009 with an additional 8 million dollars in inventory left
over, while the Books division only had a 114.3 percent increase over the same time frame. Since

Cholesterol is an essential molecule for animal life. It is an integral component of the plasma
membrane of animal cells, it is a precursor of steroid hormones and bile acids, and it plays a crucial
role in the formation of the myelin sheath that surrounds axons. Cholesterol and other insoluble lipids
are transported through the bloodstream in lipoprotein particles. Lipoproteins are a family of globular
particles comprised of a core of neutral lipids surrounded by cholesterol, phospholipids, and
apoproteins. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) are the two primary

From an early age, these individuals are at high risk for atherosclerosis and heart disease.
Heterozygous FH individuals are also at risk for these diseases, albeit to a much lesser degree.
Because the FH mutation also caused the disease in heterozygous individuals, Goldstein and Brown
began with the assumption that FH was the result of a defect in regulation of cholesterol synthesis.
Discovery of the LDL Receptor
Goldstein and Brown began their work by measuring the activity of 3 hydroxy 3 methylglutaryl
coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase), which catalyzes the rate limiting step in cholesterol
production. Goldstein and Brown found that when normal fibroblasts were grown in serum, HMG
CoA reductase activity was low. Additionally, they found that when cholesterol carrying lipoproteins
was removed from the culture medium, HMG CoA reductase activity increased by a large margin.
Furthermore, they observed that HMG CoA reductase activity was suppressed when LDL was
reintroduced to the medium. This inhibition of HMG CoA reductase by LDL, and the fact that low
concentrations of LDL suppressed HMG CoA reductase activity, led Goldstein and Brown to believe
that a receptor with high affinity for LDL was involved in the inhibition of cholesterol synthesis.
When Goldstein and Brown measured HMG CoA reductase activity in FH homozygous fibroblasts
grown in normal serum, they came to the conclusion that HMG CoA reductase activity was not
affected by the presence of LDL in

The English Common Law System
The English common law system is obliged to comply with the rights and obligations under the
Human Rights Act Convention. Even though they are not bound by it has been advised by the House
of Lords to harmonise or comply with the Conventions, on a equivalent basis which is no more, but
certainly no less . The Convention does not guarantee damages for violations that have occurred
between private parties, it only protects them against the public authorities, thus only binding states.
Generally the HRA awards damages for rights violated under the Convention which are minimal when
compared to the compensation awarded under English tort law. Enabling courts to sustain their

Therefore the s. 6 under the HRA Convention maintains an indirect horizontal effect rather than a
horizontal one. It was presumed that a uniform approach to be upheld by the UK courts, but this
approach was only in theory that HRA would be somehow incorporated into the domestic law and
where necessary could be reformed by a judiciary, and in practice the opposite had occurred.
Prior to 1998, under the common law right to privacy did not reinforce a failure to compensate
individuals for breach of their privacy. After the HRA came into force, the first critical case was faced
by the English courts in the case of Catherine Zeta Jones case concluded there was a breach of
confidence. The reason that lay behind this harmonisation was that protection for individual privacy
was the equivalent of protecting individual autonomy established by the omissions principle. In this
area of law, the courts have provided a remedy at a domestic level by incorporating s.7 of the HRA.
It is quite contradictory that the common law now mirrors the Conventions rights with regards to
breach of confidence, but takes a more conservative approach whilst dealing with a more crucial
matter in relating to article 2. Where without a right to life a secondary right to privacy is null. In most
civil law jurisdictions there is no line of distinction drawn between private individuals and public
authorities when it comes to imposing a liability for negligence. However the UK case law

Socratic Era Socrates
Socrates and the Socratic Era of Philosophy
In 470 399 B.C. lived Socrates. Socrates, considered to be one of, if not the most influential

Born in Alopeke, Socrates belonged to the tribe Antiochis. Not much is known about his early life, but
his father was a sculptor, or stonemason, and his mother a midwife. He married a woman named

One of his implied offenses to the city was claiming to be a moral and social critic. Rather than
accepting the the development of what he thought of as immorality within his city, Socrates
questioned the societally accepted notion of Might makes right , or rather, whatever somebody says,
goes, as long as they have the strength to defend themselves. Later on, Socrates student Plato referred
to him as The Gadfly , a person who challenges status quos and potential social normalities.
According to Plato, in his book Apology , Socrates friend Chaerephon asked the Oracle of Delphi if
anyone was wiser than Socrates. The Oracle said no one was. Socrates did not believe the Oracle,
because he believed he possessed no wisdom whatsoever. He proceeded to test the riddle, by
approaching men considered to be wise by the common people and questioned them. Socrates thus
concluded that while they were considered wise, they had no answers to questions of larger, and
philosophical nature. It was at that point that Socrates knew the Oracle was correct. These Wise men
thought themselves wise, yet were not. Socrates himself knew he was not wise, thusly making himself

This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion
because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys the
laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system through
the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock child for the
first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town
reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and
obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone
out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote
shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in
the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as
she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their
judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the
Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester Prynne defies the Puritan belief system

situation in which people of different social classes, religions, races, etc., are together in a society but
continue to have their different traditions and interests or elitism leadership or rule by an elite being.
The states involved in this convention were groups that interacted and discussed there concerns and
interests in order to create the constitution. In these groups there where delegates that were chosen to
represent each state, some people felt strongly for this and some felt strongly against it. They were
conflicting because some people felt that they needed a strong central government and some felt the
need to give the power equally to the people and the government. They wanted the large states to have
more influence than the smaller states and the smaller states felt threatened but they came to a
compromise which

Job Satisfaction At Walden Sport
Job Attitude Is defined as the way an individual behaves and perceives things and the output he
delivers in the job he/she is assigned. This affects his/her production which ultimately determines the
organization s success (Brooke, Russell, Price, 1988). According to the success of an individual,
attitude is directly proportional to his/her effectiveness. The attitude and perception employees
approach their work with is the same determinant of their maximum output. Attitude can also be
manipulated by the belief, self values, and attachment towards the specified task assigned (Brooke,
Russell Price, 1988). As the consultant of Walden Sport, the job attitude that needs to be changed is

Melanie Kleinian Theory
Melanie Klein was a truly inspiring psychoanalysis. With no previous education in this field and being
a working mother of three children she discovered psychoanalysis. She introduced a new way of child
analysis by introducing play with toys and showed us the importance of the early stages of a child s
development. Her lack of formal medical training was initially an obstacle to her professional
development, but it was probably another asset in allowing her to develop her own ideas and thoughts
(Robert Hinshelwood, Susan Robinson and Oscar Zarate, 1999, p. 31). She also introduced us to
depressive and paranoid schizoid positions and which are still used in psychoanalysis today. All of this
however, came at a cost to Klein; she was in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introjection is where the external object is transferred to the inside. An example of this would be when
a loved one has died, that person and their traits are part of their identity. These theories are still used
in psychotherapy today.
Paranoid schizoid position is another Kleinian theory and it is described as splitting the self and the
object into the good and bad . The mothers breast can be seen by a child as opposite in nature at
different times, the good breast (gratifying object) and the bad breast (frustrating object) .The splitting
allows the good object to stay separate from the bad, keeping things a child love apart from things
they don t.
The next phase of this theory Depressive position is a person s ability to handle his or her own feelings
and instincts. Klein thought the feeling of guilt and anxiety determine and defines a person s physical
position. If this issue is not addressed during childhood then the chances of the depressive position
occurring in adulthood is much higher. Guilt and grief over hateful attacks and over the damaged state
of external and internal objects, varying in level of felt catastrophe on a scale from normal mourning
for loss to severe depression (Melanie Klein Trust

Dr. David Eaton and Bronislaw Malinowsk Reformed...
Bronislaw Malinowski is a Pole who died in New Haven, Connecticut at the age of 58. He traveled to
the Trobriand Islands, east of Papua New Guinea, to reform ethnographic work on the native islanders.
In The Argonauts of the Pacific West Bronislaw Malinowski captured his ethnographic works for
Anthropologists to read and take in, for years to come.
In his introduction, The Subject, The Method and The Scope of This Inquiry, he addresses his
intentions of this ethnography and what he was studying over the course of his 5 year duration on the
Island. He addresses the subject, which is the Kula (p. 2). The word Kula refers to the trade, or
exchange, that takes place on the islands. Further along in the book (chapter 1) he better explains the
Kula as an event that just happens everyone knows about the Kula and takes part in it. The Method of
course, is ethnographic study. Lastly, the Scope, are the Trobriand Islanders.
In the introduction, Malinowski also addresses his preparations for ethnographic work in section 4 of
the introduction. He says he has to cut himself from the company of other white men (p. 6). He also
says while cutting ties with other whites men, he must remain close to the company of the natives and
that this is achieved through living next door to them. He follows this statement by saying But you
must be far enough away not to become a permanent milieu in which you live and from which you
emerge at fixed hours only to do the village. (p. 6 7).

Protestant Old Testament Essay
In the Catholic faith, the Protestant belief of sola scriptura or scripture alone is to be used along with
the Magisterial authority of those in the church such as the Pope and Bishops, which is a long standing
belief from the church s founding in 33 AD. The Protestant Bible and The Catholic Bible both use the
same New Testament, which was defined by Athanasius in 367, but use a different Old Testament. The
Protestant Old Testament is different than the Catholic Old Testament because of the history of the
founding of the Protestant faith. The Protestant Old testament comes from the Hebrew Bible which
was decided to have 24 books, with this canon being accepted at the Councils of Jamnia in 90 118 AD.
(Coffman) The early church fathers, however, were using the Septuagint , a Greek translation of the
Hebrew Bible because they could read Greek but not Hebrew. (Coffman) ... Show more content on

Edelstein The Great Terror Summary
The Terror s Origins The nation of France following the approval of the rights of man was a country in
great turmoil. The popular revolution had received what they had so desired, that being a
constitutional monarchy with a set of bylaws that would both protect the people of France and hinder
the power of the monarch. A second revolution would take center stage and hijack the revolution and
push for more radical ideas and push for the stern punishment of the king and those around him
following his flight. The aspect of the revolution that would have the most profound impact on both
the nation and the terror, would be that of the Jacobin club coming into power in France. The
collimation of both Jacobin ideals and having the power to institute these ideas would go on to lead to

The American Of The United States Army
As for the US Army, they had been given orders by which they had to abide which lacked defined
rules of engagement. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their superiors did not
necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As far as they were
concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it. This was a huge
change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their journey exploring the
Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were amicable and cooperative.
Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands the Indians once occupied, they
voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This was accomplished fluidly because the
natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to be owned by any person or group; land was
theirs to do with what they would, which was to survive and live rivers for water, animals for food,
and other natural resources to create their homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was
a demonstration of violence of action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the
natives would have easily sat down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land
available to them, but the settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of
doing what needed to be done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to
going in to battle

The Athletic Advantage in a College Education
Attending college is not only a chance for students to further their education, but it also allows them to
experience the lessons life has to offer. One of the hardest lessons to learn is how unfair life can be.
Students who work diligently to achieve academic success in the classroom may quickly realize their
academic efforts do not pay off as much as the student athlete who possesses the ability to kick a
football fifty yards. There is an evident failure in the educational system when the student athlete s
performance and how they contribute to a winning season, is more valuable to the university, than the
academic student who strives to graduate with honors. Students who focus their efforts on an
academic based education are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, they suggest the burden lies on the faculty. In order to fulfill the student athlete s special
needs, they must extend deadlines, create make up work, and conform to the infamous special
privilege stigma surrounding athletes today (Jensen et al.). Many researchers believe million dollar
coaching salaries and the commercialization of college athletics are destroying undergraduate
education (Finn). The Knight Commission is a research group who unveiled that many universities
spend over $100,000 annually, per athlete, to provide support services and special arrangements for
them (Finn). This does not include what is already being spent on housing, food, and tuition (Finn).
Those who oppose this frivolous spending, see it far more important to invest in the education of our
students, rather than investing in a win for the athletic department. Some people will continue to
profess that our society needs to be geared towards entertainment. However, the primary purpose of
attending college should be to obtain an education, and that is being lost along the way. We need to
take a moment to reflect on the decisions we make as a society. When the locker room is nicer than the
entire medical department, or the head football coach is paid more than the governor of the state, it
should be evident and clear that a major problem exists in the university s policies and priorities.
Having said this, it is illogical to think that athletics should be

To acquire improvement in autonomous underwater vehicle s (AUV) applications vehicle autonomy,
underwater communications, motion control, dynamics modeling as well as simulation system is
neede3d to be touched. These issues are needed to be resolved through a spiral development process
which is included at sea experimentation. To provide a simulation system platform for designing and
debugging problems of motion controller, a 3 Degree of Freedom (3 DOF) dynamic model for AUV is
examined. Based on a dynamic model controlled by thruster and fin with appendages, a simulation
system is established and motion performance is analyzed. Also an implementation of active
submarine warfare is tested. Signal processing capabilities and adaptive behavior were analyzed via
simulation. The results demonstrate that AUV has good maneuverability with or without appendages.
The implications for underwater surveillance are discussed in both simulation and experimental
context.

A Streetcar Named Desire, By Tennessee Williams
A Streetcar Named Desire, written by Tennessee Williams, was first performed on December 3rd,
1947. Chronicling the actions and events that take place when two sisters are reunited, A Streetcar
Named Desire is regarded as one of Tennessee William s most successful plays. Likewise, Blank
Space , written and performed by Taylor Swift, was first performed November 23rd, during the 2014
American Music Awards. Blank Space spent 22 weeks in the top 40 charts and is featured on the best
selling album 1989. Though A Streetcar Named Desire and Blank Space are two separate works
written and performed 67 years apart, character and character actions in A Streetcar Named Desire are
synonymous with lyrics portrayed in Blank Space because Blank Space lyrics can be used to describe
the relationship between the characters, Blanche and Stanley. Both works describe an unhealthy
relationship between two people, foreshadow an event that leads to insanity, and provide detailed
information that can be applied to both characters.
A Streetcar Named Desire and Blank Space are similar because they both describe an unhealthy
relationship. In the case of A Streetcar Named Desire, this would be the relationship between Blanche
DuBois and Stanley Kowalski. Blanche is Stanley s sister in law, who serves as his antagonist (Bloom,
22). Though the characters are related by marriage and therefore family, they suffer many differences
that lead to their hatred of one another. While Blanche is

The Misinterpretations Of Robert And Of The Blind Husband
This short story is based on a wife who is friends with a blind man by the name of Robert whom she
introduces to her husband when he comes into town to visit her after visiting his deceased wife s
family. Upon his arrival the wife s husband has already formed his own opinions and ideas of what the
blind man should be like from how he eats, his appearance, and even down to him as a person. But as
the story continues the husband see s that he was wrong and has many misinterpretations of Robert

character themselves change as the story unfolds and events occur. The narrator did not only change
but he altered his understanding of Robert, of blind people in general. I say this because in the
beginning of the story the narrator acts as an average day host to his wife s guest. But as the story goes
on he starts to open up bit by bit. He holds idle conversations with Robert and even shares Marijuana
with Robert. Where he once was not looking forward to Robert visiting his home because of a
stereotype he had gained from a movie he had watched, by the end he was completely different. As in
different I mean he had put aside all of his stereotypes, his own thoughts and emotions and opened up
to Robert. In the beginning my impression of the narrator was that he would be distant and act
awkward towards Robert but as the story unfolded my impression changed as he

Foreign Exchange Risk And Risk
Though (Markus 2014) observes that unlike other activities within the value chain, expenditure for
activities in the downstream segment of the value chain are known and profits are more predictable,
this segment of the value chain may become prone to foreign exchange risk since the variability in
foreign exchange rates impacts more on crude sales compared to its impact on purchase contracts.
The Foreign exchange risk and exposure
Risk relates to uncertainty in outcomes and foreign currency exchange risk occurs when there is
uncertainty about the future foreign currency cash flows to an entity. Movements in Currency
exchange rates are unpredictable hence constitutes risk to the entity. Studies on the exposure of
companies to foreign exchange risks dates back to (Adler and Dumas 1984) when foreign exchange
exposure was defined as the impact of uncertainty in changes in foreign exchange rates on the intrinsic
value of an entity represented by the present values of future cash flows.
Evidence from studies suggest that firms involved in foreign operations are exposed to foreign
exchange risks which can be further classified into the economic exposure, the transactional exposure
and the translational exposure (Moyer et al. 2011; Lumby 2001). Arnold (2008) observed that
investment decisions and the viability of foreign operations in the long term are affected by both the
transaction, translation and economic risks. This is so because entities are affected by variability of

The House On Mango Street Rhetorical Analysis
As Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for females, once said, I raise up my voice not so I can shout,
but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.
Malala is advocating for young females, giving them a voice that they may not have. She is
demonstrating how being a female should be liberating, and women should not feel held back by their
gender. In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros speaks of a similar idea. As Malala indicates,
Cisneros also indicates how being a woman can be empowering; however, Cisneros also establishes
how being a woman raised in a marginalized community can have adverse mental and physical
repercussions. Through countless stories and the motif of women sitting by windows, Cisneros ratifies
how draining it is to be an average woman in Esperanza s community. In The House on Mango Street,
women by windows depict women trapped by their families, specifically their husbands, maturing into
a disturbing image that portrays the failure to be an individual that makes her own decisions. In the
vignette Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut and Papaya Juice on Tuesdays, the author tells of a woman who
is too beautiful to look at, saying, Rafaela who ... wishes there were sweeter drinks, not bitter like an
empty room, but sweet sweet like the island, like the dance hall down the street where women much
older than her throw green eyes easily like dice and open homes with keys (Cisneros 80). Rafaela is
yearning to be able to leave her home like the women she envies. She compares the bitterness of her
fruit drinks to the desolation and seclusion of the house, and wishes the drinks were sweeter,
expressing her looking out the window and longing for something more in life, like the fortunate few
women in her community have. A character Esperanza knows named Sally has received abuse from
her father, and when she gets married, Esperanza says, She says she is in love, but I think she did it to
escape (Cisneros 101) and, She sits at home because she is afraid to go outside without his permission
(Cisneros 102). Sally tried to get away from her father s physical abuse, but in doing so, she is now

Dichotomy In Do The Right Thing
Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee is a film that acts as a call to action for the audience to
differentiate what doing the right thing actually means. New York City in 1989 was filled with issues
of race and class. Crime rates were high and one of the highest recorded in history only second to the
preceding year of 1990. Cases like the central park five where african american youths and other
minorities were falsely accused of crimes, caused for unjust views of the justice system designed to
protect these people as opposed to persecuting the innocent in the most blatant and obvious ways.
Along with false accusations within the system, New York City was also filled with police brutality

Malcolm s approach to racial injustices is that the solution is violence with violence. While MLK s
perspective is one of peace and assembly. This film uses those contrasting community pillars to once
again beg the question of what the right thing is in a situation that asks an individual to choose. This
major subtext part of the film are prime examples of duality and dichotomy. Malcolm X is known for
his radical and violent views during the racist culture during the time of the civil rights movement
until he died. His philosophy never forgotten and was often still practiced. He once said, Tactics based

system is constantly testing within the injustice of the justice system when it comes to african

film he is a character of action, when he decided to boycott Sal s there is no stopping him, even after
Jane tells him that his passion could be used in more positive ways. He follows through with the

Compverty And Poverty In The Bean Eaters, By Gwendolyn Brooks
Imagine what you would all be like if, despite adversity and poverty, you still had a positive outlook
on life? What would happen if you lived every day to the fullest? You would probably look back on
life fondly despite all your hardships that you may have faced. Gwendolyn Brooks addressed the
issues of poverty and living to the fullest in The Bean Eaters and Sadie and Maud. Both these poems
have similar themes and some differences as well. This paper is about the contrasts between the two
poems.
Gwendolyn Brooks wrote both poems. Brooks often wrote about the plights of minorities and those in
poverty. She lived in an apartment in Chicago and would write poems about those around her. I wrote
about what I saw and heard in the street, Ms. Brooks once said. I lived in a small second floor
apartment at the corner, and I could look first on one side and then the other. There was my material
(M. Watkins, 2000). She drew her material from watching those around her. You can clearly
understand how her observations helped her write these two poems because of how both the poems
were about the plights of those in poverty.
In both poems, their characters were living in some sort of poverty. Even though they were in poverty,
they were without want. The characters in the poems still manage to have meaningful lives despite the
poverty and adversity that is against them. In Sadie and Maud , it is assumed that Sadie did not earn as
much money because it says Maud went to college/Sadie stayed at home (G. Brooks, 1963). The
reason one can assume that Sadie probably did not earn as much money as her sister is that you
usually earn more money if you have a degree. Also since it says Sadie stayed at home it does not
explain what she was doing during that time. In another part of the poem, it states, When Sadie said
her last so long/Her girls struck out from home. / (Sadie had left as a heritage/Her fine tooth comb) (G.
Brooks, 1963). Again, it is apparent that she did not have much at all. All Sadie had to give was her
fine tooth comb. The Bean Eaters also do not have much to their name. it says They eat beans mostly,
this old yellow pair. / Dinner is a casual affair. /Plain chipware on a plain and creaking wood,

The fifties proved to be a difficult time for baseball. As America was busy changing baseball remained
the same. The middle class began to move out of the city to the suburbs, away from the major league
ball fields. Therefore, leaving behind low income mostly black families, which did not bring much
profit to the ballfields. The fields and parking lots were too small to bring any real profit to the teams
as well, and many whites were too scared to venture into these neighborhoods to even watch a game.
In addition, television became increasingly popular in the homes of America and many would stay
home to watch the game. Teams were forced to abandon their cities for new ones in order to gain
profit. New York, which was home to three of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The National League Club voted in 1957 to allow the Dodgers and Giants to move to California.
September of 1957 was the Giants last home game in New York before their move to California and
shortly after in October, the Dodgers made the announcement of their move as well (Baseball, 2010).
While New York fans were devastated over the news California was more than excited to finally have
baseball come to them.
In conclusion, the 1950 s were a hard time for baseball due to the shifting population. No longer were
fields like Ebbets field making a profit nor were they able to build a larger stadium to stay in New
York. Teams like the New York Giants were aging and their grounds were crumbling. Despite New
York being the baseball capital of America (Baseball, 2010), while holding onto some of the best
players like Robinson or Mantle they too felt the effects of society s shift. As a result, the Dodgers and
the Giants moved to California where baseball had yet to

Wakeboarding Essay example
Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding is a fun and challenging sport. A couple of years ago I was boating with some friends
when one of them pulled out something I had never seen before, a wakeboard. In the past I had tried
water skiing and kneeboarding, but until then I had never heard of wakeboarding, I haven t picked up
a water ski or kneeboard since that day. A wakeboard is shaped a lot like a snowboard. It is 150 cm
long and about 60 cm wide. Riding a wakeboard has been compared to surfing, skateboarding,
waterskiing, and snowboarding. At first I was nervous about learning a new watersport at age 18,
because I remembered how hard it was to get up one ski. My friends convinced me to give it a try and
I loved it. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I first started going fakie it was like learning to wakeboard all over again. Just recently I have
gotten to the point where I can ride regular or goofy in any water conditions, choppy or smooth as
glass, and feel like I am doing well. Just recently I was able to land a jump that I started in the regular
position executed a 180 degree turn and landed in the goofy stance. This took me hours and hours of
practice, but overcoming the challenge was so exhilarating that it was worth the time and effort, and
made me even more excited about the sport. The next skill I have been working to acquire is grabs. A
grab is contorting your body into different positions then grabbing the board with one of your hands
while jumping. The most complicated grab that I can currently land is starting the jump in the regular
stance, while in the air I reach through my legs grab the back of my board and execute a 180 degree
turn landing in the goofy position. I m excited about continuing to improve and learning to tweak big
air in this new and exciting sport. I am working towards a goal of being able to land a backflip within
the next year. Currently I am really good at landing on my head. But for some reason when I am
wakeboarding even landing on my head doesn t hurt. I am totally stoked about this awesome sport that
I have found, the thing that will continue to bring me back to boarding is that it is a sport of never

The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher
Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what
happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense perception
post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus,
an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that death is the end
of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124
125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in support of him claiming the fear of
death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus
claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in
the privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of
death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of
our existence. In this essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based
on my interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given
that one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being
dead.
Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that
Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view

Similar to every other child at the time, running around an open field or zipping down a slide was all I wanted. But today, the hushed silence I experience as I walk past the devoid park gives me chills as I watch the swings and slides wait to give joy to laughing children that used to frolic here everyday, but now remain quiet in their secluded houses. Not because it s cold outside, but because nine year olds today are copying our technological obsession. Did you know that on average, children get their first cellphones at age eight? Our generation is becoming the most antisocial generation yet. Although many people disagree and believe that using technology, especially cell phones, make them more social, I don t understand how sitting at home on a Friday night, texting or blogging, is more social than hanging out with your friends and enjoying the company of others. It closely relates to elements of customer service such as problem resolution and overall satisfaction and to marketing strategies such as pricing, promotion and product placement. Why Study Consumer Behaviour? Understanding consumer behaviour may lead to changes in the design of a pilot product, a product s packaging or its position within the store. Having such a high percentage of their sales coming from JIT inventory allows CanGo to keep their overhead expenses low while still ensuring their products are still available. One of the ways that this lowers their overhead is by reducing the warehouse space needed. Since most of the inventory arrives just in time to be shipped, there is no need to have a place to store it. Keeping their JIT inventory at roughly 80 percent also helps CanGo to serve their customers faster and more efficiently by giving them more control over the manufacturing process. Discovery of the LDL Receptor Goldstein and Brown began their work by measuring the activity of 3 hydroxy 3 methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase), which catalyzes the rate limiting step in cholesterol production. Goldstein and Brown found that when normal fibroblasts were grown in serum, HMG CoA reductase activity was low. Additionally, they found that when cholesterol carrying lipoproteins was removed from the culture medium, HMG CoA reductase activity increased by a large margin. Furthermore, they observed that HMG CoA reductase activity was suppressed when LDL was reintroduced to the medium. This inhibition of HMG CoA reductase by LDL, and the fact that low concentrations of LDL suppressed HMG CoA reductase activity, led Goldstein and Brown to believe that a receptor with high affinity for LDL was involved in the inhibition of cholesterol synthesis. Many people debate whether the constitutional convention was based on an Idea of pluralism a situation in which people of different social classes, religions, races, etc., are together in a society but continue to have their different traditions and interests or elitism leadership or rule by an elite being. The states involved in this convention were groups that interacted and discussed there concerns and interests in order to create the constitution. In these groups there where delegates that were chosen to represent each state, some people felt strongly for this and some felt strongly against it. They were conflicting because some people felt that they needed a strong central government and some felt the need to give the power equally to the people and the government. This affects his/her production which ultimately determines the organization s success (Brooke, Russell, Price, 1988). According to the success of an individual, attitude is directly proportional to his/her effectiveness. The attitude and perception employees approach their work with is the same determinant of their maximum output. Attitude can also be manipulated by the belief, self values, and attachment towards the specified task assigned (Brooke, Russell Price, 1988). With no previous education in this field and being a working mother of three children she discovered psychoanalysis. She introduced a new way of child analysis by introducing play with toys and showed us the importance of the early stages of a child s development. Her lack of formal medical training was initially an obstacle to her professional development, but it was probably another asset in allowing her to develop her own ideas and thoughts (Robert Hinshelwood, Susan Robinson and Oscar Zarate, 1999, p. 31). The mothers breast can be seen by a child as opposite in nature at different times, the good breast (gratifying object) and the bad breast (frustrating object) .The splitting allows the good object to stay separate from the bad, keeping things a child love apart from things they don t. The next phase of this theory Depressive position is a person s ability to handle his or her own feelings and instincts. Klein thought the feeling of guilt and anxiety determine and defines a person s physical position. He traveled to the Trobriand Islands, east of Papua New Guinea, to reform ethnographic work on the native islanders. In The Argonauts of the Pacific West Bronislaw Malinowski captured his ethnographic works for Anthropologists to read and take in, for years to come. In his introduction, The Subject, The Method and The Scope of This Inquiry, he addresses his intentions of this ethnography and what he was studying over the course of his 5 year duration on the Island. He addresses the subject, which is the Kula (p. 2). The word Kula refers to the trade, or exchange, that takes place on the islands. Further along in the book (chapter 1) he better explains the Kula as an event that just happens everyone knows about the Kula and takes part in it. The Method of course, is ethnographic study. Lastly, the Scope, are the Trobriand Islanders. In the introduction, Malinowski also addresses his preparations for ethnographic work in section 4 of the introduction. He says he has to cut himself from the company of other white men (p. 6). He also says while cutting ties with other whites men, he must remain close to the company of the natives and that this is achieved through living next door to them. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their superiors did not necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As far as they were concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it. This was a huge change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their journey exploring the Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were amicable and cooperative. Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands the Indians once occupied, they voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This was accomplished fluidly because the natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to be owned by any person or group; land was theirs to do with what they would, which was to survive and live rivers for water, animals for food, and other natural resources to create their homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was a demonstration of violence of action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the natives would have easily sat down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land available to them, but the settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of doing what needed to be done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to going in to battle ... The Foreign exchange risk and exposure Risk relates to uncertainty in outcomes and foreign currency exchange risk occurs when there is uncertainty about the future foreign currency cash flows to an entity. Movements in Currency exchange rates are unpredictable hence constitutes risk to the entity. Studies on the exposure of companies to foreign exchange risks dates back to (Adler and Dumas 1984) when foreign exchange exposure was defined as the impact of uncertainty in changes in foreign exchange rates on the intrinsic value of an entity represented by the present values of future cash flows. Evidence from studies suggest that firms involved in foreign operations are exposed to foreign exchange risks which can be further classified into the economic exposure, the transactional exposure and the translational exposure (Moyer et al. 2011; Lumby 2001). The House On Mango Street Rhetorical Analysis As Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for females, once said, I raise up my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back. Malala is advocating for young females, giving them a voice that they may not have. She is demonstrating how being a female should be liberating, and women should not feel held back by their gender. In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros speaks of a similar idea. As Malala indicates, Cisneros also indicates how being a woman can be empowering; however, Cisneros also establishes how being a woman raised in a marginalized community can have adverse mental and physical repercussions. Through countless stories and the motif of women sitting by windows, Cisneros ratifies how draining it is to be an average woman in Esperanza s community. In The House on Mango Street, women by windows depict women trapped by their families, specifically their husbands, maturing into a disturbing image that portrays the failure to be an individual that makes her own decisions. In the vignette Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut and Papaya Juice on Tuesdays, the author tells of a woman who is too beautiful to look at, saying, Rafaela who ... wishes there were sweeter drinks, not bitter like an empty room, but sweet sweet like the island, like the dance hall down the street where women much older than her throw green eyes easily like dice and open homes with keys (Cisneros 80). Rafaela is yearning to be able to leave her home like the women she envies. She compares the bitterness of her fruit drinks to the desolation and seclusion of the house, and wishes the drinks were sweeter, expressing her looking out the window and longing for something more in life, like the fortunate few women in her community have. A character Esperanza knows named Sally has received abuse from her father, and when she gets married, Esperanza says, She says she is in love, but I think she did it to escape (Cisneros 101) and, She sits at home because she is afraid to go outside without his permission (Cisneros 102). What would happen if you lived every day to the fullest? You would probably look back on life fondly despite all your hardships that you may have faced. Gwendolyn Brooks addressed the issues of poverty and living to the fullest in The Bean Eaters and Sadie and Maud. Both these poems have similar themes and some differences as well. This paper is about the contrasts between the two poems. Gwendolyn Brooks wrote both poems. Brooks often wrote about the plights of minorities and those in poverty. She lived in an apartment in Chicago and would write poems about those around her. I wrote about what I saw and heard in the street, Ms. Brooks once said. I lived in a small second floor apartment at the corner, and I could look first on one side and then the other. There was my material (M. Watkins, 2000). She drew her material from watching those around her. You can clearly understand how her observations helped her write these two poems because of how both the poems were about the plights of those in poverty. In both poems, their characters were living in some sort of poverty. Even though they were in poverty, they were without want. The characters in the poems still manage to have meaningful lives despite the poverty and adversity that is against them. In Sadie and Maud , it is assumed that Sadie did not earn as much money because it says Maud went to college/Sadie stayed at home (G. Brooks, 1963). The reason one can assume that Sadie probably did not earn as much money as her sister is that you usually earn more money if you have a degree. Also since it says Sadie stayed at home it does not explain what she was doing during that time. In another part of the poem, it states, When Sadie said her last so long/Her girls struck out from home. / (Sadie had left as a heritage/Her fine tooth comb) (G. Brooks, 1963). Again, it is apparent that she did not have much at all. All Sadie had to give was her fine tooth comb. While New York fans were devastated over the news California was more than excited to finally have baseball come to them. In conclusion, the 1950 s were a hard time for baseball due to the shifting population. No longer were fields like Ebbets field making a profit nor were they able to build a larger stadium to stay in New York. Teams like the New York Giants were aging and their grounds were crumbling. Despite New York being the baseball capital of America (Baseball, 2010), while holding onto some of the best players like Robinson or Mantle they too felt the effects of society s shift. As a result, the Dodgers and the Giants moved to California where baseball had yet to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Wakeboarding Essay example Wakeboarding Wakeboarding is a fun and challenging sport. A couple of years ago I was boating with some friends when one of them pulled out something I had never seen before, a wakeboard. In the past I had tried water skiing and kneeboarding, but until then I had never heard of wakeboarding, I haven t picked up a water ski or kneeboard since that day. A wakeboard is shaped a lot like a snowboard. It is 150 cm long and about 60 cm wide. Riding a wakeboard has been compared to surfing, skateboarding, waterskiing, and snowboarding. At first I was nervous about learning a new watersport at age 18, because I remembered how hard it was to get up one ski. My friends convinced me to give it a try and I loved it. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I first started going fakie it was like learning to wakeboard all over again. Just recently I have gotten to the point where I can ride regular or goofy in any water conditions, choppy or smooth as glass, and feel like I am doing well. Just recently I was able to land a jump that I started in the regular position executed a 180 degree turn and landed in the goofy stance. This took me hours and hours of practice, but overcoming the challenge was so exhilarating that it was worth the time and effort, and made me even more excited about the sport. The next skill I have been working to acquire is grabs. A grab is contorting your body into different positions then grabbing the board with one of your hands while jumping. The most complicated grab that I can currently land is starting the jump in the regular stance, while in the air I reach through my legs grab the back of my board and execute a 180 degree turn landing in the goofy position. I m excited about continuing to improve and learning to tweak big air in this new and exciting sport. I am working towards a goal of being able to land a backflip within the next year. Currently I am really good at landing on my head. But for some reason when I am wakeboarding even landing on my head doesn t hurt. I am totally stoked about this awesome sport that I have found, the thing that will continue to bring me back to boarding is that it is a sport of never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense perception post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that death is the end of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124 125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in support of him claiming the fear of death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in the privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of our existence. In this essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based on my interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given that one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being dead. Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
