History Is Memory
History can be defined in a number of ways. One could say history is a record of events that occurred
in the past, or another person could say that history is the knowledge and facts of the past. Carl Becker
s definition is perhaps the simplest and finest definition of history. Becker defines history as the
memory of things said and done (223). Memory is history, which is what history truly is and how it
should be looked at by mankind. As long as mankind has that memory, then that memory of the things
said and done will become history. For mankind to truly be able to define what history is, they must
understand the importance of preservation, interpretations, and periodization with the things said and
done.
If history is memory, and that memory is lost, then history can be lost forever. The Earth itself is
billions of years old and mankind has been around on the planet for only a few thousands of those
years. In her book, Marnie Hughes Warrington mentions a piece of work from R. G. Collingwood in
which he defines history as a science whose business is to study events not accessible to our
observation (35). Mankind has only been around for a small number of blinks of an eye, which means
that there is a significant amount of history that mankind still does not know about, and possibly may
never know. Aphrodite of Melos for example, is a famous and beautiful ancient Greek freestanding
statue from the Hellenistic Period. The arms of the statue are missing and mankind does

How To Write An Egg Drop Machine Essay
Egg drop by Tucker Hello today I am going to be telling you some things about my egg drop machine.
And I am also going to be telling you some facts about it . I m going to be telling you about the
machine i m using how often you would see it on a day to day basis.ect... Okay so the first facts that i
m going to tell you are my machine are how often you see it how gravity affects it and a few more
things. Okay my machine design is a basic kinda roll cage for the eggs that we use. And on a day to
day basis you would probably never see this design but it can help because if you drop and egg in this
machine it would save it. And gravity affects my machine by pulling it down but me and Trevor are
going to put balloons on it to create drag. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Okay drag is basically like when you throw a rock or anything and it s attached to a balloon and or
something that kinda floats and it goes down slower . Air resistance plays a massive point in dropping
items because sometimes if the item that your dropping is big it might fall faster because the air doesn
t have enough power for the item. One way that I think will help the impact is to put rubber bands on
all the sides and lift the roll cage for the egg a bit higher than the bottom of the machine so it won t hit

The Key To Survival Guilt, And The Moral Logic Of Survival
The instincts and emotions connected to survival has benefits and negatives in a person s life. The
Seventh Man , Moral Logic of Survival Guilt , and The Key to Disaster Survival all show how people
are affected by survival. From what I ve read from the stories most people feel guilty after survival. It
s not all guilt there are many emotions that go with survival. In The Seventh Man the narrator loses a
friend that he felt he could have saved. The man and his friend K were down by the ocean while they
were in the eye of a huge storm. K was looking at stuff thrown on the beach by the storm, the man was
watching for big waves and high winds. The man soon felt the wind start to kick up and saw a big
wave getting closer to the shore. He yelled for K, but K wasn t listening he was almost in his own
world. The man started to run, but stopped and yelled for K again this time K heard him and started
running but it was too late the wave crashed over K onto the shore. The wave took K out into the cold
ocean water. They never found K s body after that. The man couldn t forgive himself for what
happened to K and liced his life in fear of losing or hurting people.
In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt the narrator explains why people feel guilty after surviving
something someone else didn t or not being there for someone to help. Soldiers often carry this burden
home survivor guilt being perhaps the kind most familiar to us. (pg.153, Sherman), that sentence told

Philip Condit and the Boeing 777
Philip Condit and the Development of the 777
Daniel W. Sobel
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Abstract
This paper of Philip Condit and the Development of the 777; describes the management, and
technological changes that Philip Condit made to the development style of the Boeing Company.
Before Philip Condit took over the 777 program, Boeing had been making airplanes in the same
fashion as it had been doing for 70 years prior. Mr. Condit saw the chance to bring Boeing into the
21st century not only with the new technology of computer aided drafting, but with modern
management techniques as well. The 777 program proved to be the perfect testing ground for a
companywide change in the way Boeing did its business.

Having the Government subsidize Airbus s development phase gave Airbus company a great
advantage (Lawrence, 2008). Airbus at the time also had the advantage in terms of technology. The fly
by wire technology had been in use for some time in the Airbus A320. The two new models; A330 and
A340; also used this technology. Boeing had yet to produce a fly by wire system (Richards, 1990).
The industry environment was also in Boeings favor at the time. Boeing had a history of dedicated
customers. The company had been making commercially successful jet aircraft since it first developed
the 707 . Boeing was so successful at manufacturing the jet aircraft, that it was one of two companies
left making them. This advantage gave them the ability to be a powerful supplier. The expense of the
development process also made it extremely difficult for new companies to even enter the market.
Boeing faced only one competitor at this point; Airbus (Pearce, Robinson, 2003). This was where
Philip Condit stepped in. He had been an engineer with Boeing since 1965; and assisted in the design
of the 707, 727, 737, 747, and 757. He understood how the company operated. One of the first things
he changed was how the aircraft was to be physically designed. Previously, the engineers would
design a wing on paper, build it out of wood or foam, and then add it to a mockup of the aircraft. The
people designing the fuel tanks would then add in their

The Importance Of Group Communication
1. Group communication is thought of to be the process of acting or responding to information
someone else has brought to our attention (Beebe, Masterson 2012). Individuals make up a group
when the number of members exceeds two and, although debated amongst researchers, reaches
somewhere between twelve and twenty (Beebe, Masterson, 2012). A small group recognizes
communication amongst a small group of people who share a common purpose, who feel a sense of
belonging to the group, and who exert influence on one another (Beebe, Masterson 2012). Meanwhile,
Beebe and Masterson (2012) also explain that a team is a coordinated group of individuals organized
to work together to achieve a specific, common goal while maintaining a rather structured sense. It is
to our understanding that teams differ from groups in a number of ways including: team goals are
often more specific and measureable, roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, rules are
expectations are written, and take a lot more coordination and collaboration (Beebe, Masterson 2012).
While a primary group exists to meet human s needs to associate with others, a great example of this
would include a group of your college friends, whom have all graduated, meeting up for an informal
get together; whereas a secondary group s main purpose is to accomplish a task or achieve a goal such
as a study group that gathers in order to learn and understand information (Beebe, Masterson 2012).

the passengers died due to the lack of lifeboats that the ship provided. The survival rate for women
was 74%, children 52%, and surprisingly for men was 20%. Human impulse accounted for men s rash
decision to choose death with courage when the titanic splintered into the bank of ice. Describe the

However, this statement is based upon the blood that runs through our veins. Human behavior is

own life, yet they didn t. Instead, they push the women and children to the front lines of the lifeboats
with no consideration of the wealth of the passengers they were pushing. They were able to override

Filipinos have positive traits that mark us one of the most commendable people on earth. The
following good habits make the Filipinos great people and the Philippines an abundant country.
Hospitability is one of the popular traits of Filipinos. We are usually friendly and welcoming to our

Coach Carter Analysis
Ken Carter A.K.A Coach Carter is a fictional character from the Docudrama Coach Carter. Ken shows
signs of an authoritarian complex as his personality has an exceedingly apparent correlation with;
sociopathy, draconian authority, and an almost dictator like persona. Using references from the film
we gain proof of Ken s autocratic demeanour. During the time after the Oilers (Richmond high
basketball team) win their first game Timo Cruz comes to the gym seeking to amalgamate with his
bygone team. Timo becoming a perfect caricature of penitence Ken acted against this remorse with a
gargantuan and quite frankly unattainable task (2500 push ups and 1000 suicides by Friday.) as a form
of punishment. This account provides evidence that Ken Carter s despotic and tyrannical personality
and values (Authority, Self Righteousness, Respect, Reputation, Status, and Success.). Ken Carter asks
each member of the Oilers Basketball Team to sign a contract stating; They must abstain from
dropping below a 2.4 GPA (Grade Point Average.), Attend each and every one of their classes, be
seated in the front row of each class, wear a tie on game day, and they must provide the local
community with 10 hours of community service each. Ken s son had a slightly different contract with
clauses stating he must possess a 3.7 GPA, Attend each and every class, no absences without a valid
reason and proof of that reason, be seated in the front row of each of his classes, wear a tie on game

Trauma In The Sorrow Of War
Specifically in American soldiers, Almost 31 percent of Vietnam veterans [...] have been affected by
PTSD ( PTSD ). This means many soldiers have gone through a traumatic experience during their
time of war. Merriam Webster defines trauma as A disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting
from severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury ( Trauma ). Kathleen M. O Connor, a
professor at Columbia Theological Seminary, states, Trauma Theory refers to a loose, interdisciplinary
conversation that investigates the lingering consequences of violence upon individuals and
communities (O Connor). The Sorrow of War by Bao Ninh can be analyzed through a Trauma lens by
asking what the causes and effects are of trauma, and if there are any signs of addiction to trauma.
Kien, the main character of the novel, goes through many grim events that ultimately lead him to
develop certain defense mechanisms and a type of addiction.
Trauma Theory reveals that Kien s sorrow is derived from the Vietnam war and events that happened
because of it. Maja Milatovic, a course coordinator at ANU college in Australia, states that Trauma
Theory has [...] connections to wider socio political frames such as survivor narratives (Milatovic).

The Mystery of the Salem Witch Trails of 1692
If we were to look through American history, we can witness many victories as well as many shames.
One of the most famous ignominies was the Salem witch trials in 1692. During the witch trials, many
were wrongfully accused and some were executed. There are many theories about why this horror
story commenced, but there are no clear appointed reasons. Medical factors may have contributed to
the events such as ergot poisoning, traumatic stress, and mass hysteria. Considering that this was an
early time in American history, it was likely that these factors were overlooked and ignored. This is a
mystery impossible to overlook. The first accusations were made by Reverend Parris niece, Abigail
and daughter Betty. At the time Parris daughter was sick and no one could diagnose her with any
medical issues. She showed symptoms of throwing temper tantrums, spoke in strange manners, and
sensations of being pinched, among others. Health professionals believe that their actions were
reflections of post traumatic syndrome or perhaps abusive parents (The Economist, A31). Had Betty s
behaviors been examined by professionals today, they may have been able to diagnose her properly.
There were other girls aged between 11 and 16 years, who complained of similar symptoms such as a
lofty amount of emotions and pains, which were then given the authority to accuse the witches who
were responsible (McHugh 20). At first glance it is evident that the girls were probably going through
adolescence,

Clyde Aspevig s White Cliffs Of The Missouri
Clyde Aspevig s painting White Cliffs of the Missouri , found in the Northwest Cowboys in Art

This piece portrays white cliffs on the Missouri river, found in central Montana along the upper
Missouri River. Lewis and Clark traveled through these cliffs during their expedition in 1805, making
it a historical monument. Lewis kept a journal about this journey and marveled about the beauty of the
sandstone cliffs. I like this painting because of the feeling and memories it reminds me of. The water

This painting is so realistic and painted with such precision and detail that he must ve wanted us to see
this place exactly how he did, with great beauty and light. The local colors are vibrant and cool yet
still make you smile because it reminds you of a warm summer day. The use of two contrasting colors,
the blue of the water and sky and the tan of the cliffs and couds, make the tan color stand out creating
such a visually pleasing and dynamic effect. The organic fluffy clouds and the ripples in the water
convey a peaceful sense to the scene. The pompous cliffs stand solidly contributing to the historical
importance of this location. The artist captures the illusion of depth through atmospheric perspective;
as the object gets farther it encompasses less detailed contributing to the descriptive nature of it. Since
the left side of the painting is much heavier than the right this painting is asymmetrical. Your eye tends
to gravitate towards the cliffs on the left because of their size and bright color which emphasize the
cliffs. This emphasis creates a focal point that the viewer is immediately compelled to look at.
A work that I am not particularly fond, also found in the Northwest Cowboys in Art exhibit is Rain

permission, roads had been built (58). In Angel s tribe, the people are unaware of the construction of
new dams until some random men make their way to Adam s Rib to warn the people. Because of this,
the native people were left no choice but to protest against the construction, even though there was

provide what it promises a surer sense of who we are and where we belong. Rosen s purpose of her
article is to argue that social networking sites are doing more harm than good. Rosen uses multiple
studies and quotes to present her argument. In this article Rosen uses a plethora of examples and

how there were six degrees of separation, but now with social media people are connected by closer to
three degrees of separation, according to Duncan J. Watts. Rosen uses the essay The Strength of Weak

Zinc Oxide Semiconductors Nanowires ( The ) For Gas Detection
Tin Oxide Semiconductors Nanowires(NW) for Gas Detection.
In the recent years nanoscale sensors have become more and more popular. When making a
nanostructure based sensor the most important aspects that have to be taken into account are:
sensitivity, selectivity and stability. The way gas sensors function is determined by the convection of
electrical conductivity due to surface reactions such as oxidation or reduction caused by the exposure
to different types of gases. Recently a great quantity of effort has been put into resolving important
issues like novel sensing material resources, data analytical method (Fast Fourier and wave transform,

Tin oxide gas sensors have been manufactured in the form of thin foils in which nanosized grains are
screen printed onto prefabricated electrons, followed by torching at high temperatures. These sensors
can easily detect substances like hydrogen, vapour particles emitted by alcohol, oxygen, and
dangerous gases like carbon monoxide [2 3]. This technology is desirable because it has a large
number of advantages: small dimensions, low production costs, low power consumption, on line
operation and high compatibility with microelectric processing. Moreover the necessity for gas
sensors is very important due to the fact that many kinds of gases are emitted from various sources
into the places where we work, where we live or in the outdoors. Many of these gases are dangerous to
human beings and also to the environment [4]. Furthermore most gases have a very low concentration
therefore sensing devices must be able to detect the presence of this hazardous gases very effectively
and monitor them so that no life threatening problems develop. Therefore this technology has a wide
range of appliation, from industrial applications to household safety.
Nanowire sensor manufacture.

Political Influence On Julius Caesar
As humans we tend to take different sides or have particular opinions about certain events in our lives;
nothing seems to have changed as this was a common occurrence in one of the most remarkable
civilisations in the world, Ancient Rome, and its political influence is still felt today. The drastic
change from the Roman Republic to the one man empire was a decision made by Julius Caesar when
others did not have the power to challenge him. Julius Caesar believed in a one man Government, he
liked change and used his own power to make sure that change happened; and his power was proved
when he changed this political outline that had been in place for five hundred years to his own. The
Republic laid down the traditions and institutions of Government,

“All good things must come to an end”, said Tara, those...
All good things must come to an end , said Tara, those were the last words of the book she just
finished reading. This book was some adventure fiction novel about hero s trip to Egypt and his
mysterious adventures in the Great Pyramid of Giza, on the banks of Nile River. Tara was just about to
close the book and go to bed, for it was almost midnight, but at the very moment when the girl
touched the cover of the book the most unpredictable thing happened. Weird, greenish mist appeared,
seems, out of thin air. It was surrounding Tara, getting denser and denser with every passing second.
Finally, the mist enveloped Tara and became that dense that the girl could see nothing but the solid
green mass of something around her. Tara didn t know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But... her eyes must be mistaken then, for that they were seeing a wide chamber with a high ceiling,
torches illuminating orange light, yellow walls, hieroglyphs painted on them depicting their own story,
pictures of gods on the front wall, and a tall figure, covered in bandages from head to feet hovering
over Tara. A mummy , Tara murmured as silently as possible, but that s impossible to happen . But the
thing was it was possible. She was just staring at the four thousand years old dead body of a pharaoh,
the representer of God on earth. Then, the mummy started to outstretch its arms, trying to grab her.
Tara did not scream, nor she stepped aside she was as if in a kind of a trance. And suddenly, Awake
you, silly girl! Do whatever is possible to save your life! Do it right away! Don t you hesitate! that was
her own voice thundering inside her own head. Without wasting her time, Tara ran to the object she
saw when she was looking over the chamber the only object that was in here a slightly rust old
Egyptian sword. At first she wondered why the mummy didn t run after her, but dragged inch by inch
to reach her, but then she realised that when you re a pharaoh dead for four thousand years it s difficult
to keep fit. And she reached a sword; she grabbed it, feeling its cold handle and big weight. And

Analysis Of Rogier Van Der Weyden s Virgin And Child
In the painting, Virgin and Child , by Rogier van der Weyden, it can be observed that the artist chose
to use the medium of oil on wood. Despite the fact that Rogier van der Weyden created this painting in
the Netherlands and was born in Tournai, Belgium, their primary influence appeared to stem from the
Italian Renaissance, which had begun to use the technique of oil paintings with increasing frequency
by turn of the 15th century. The subject of the painting itself, Madonna and her virgin child, were a
common theme in the Renaissance, where religious subjects and topics were the primary choice for
any prominent artist during this historical artistic period.
In the painting itself, the soft, content expression of Madonna, the Virgin ... Show more content on

It also worth noting that the fingers of the Virgin Mary were longer in length than that of the average
woman as well. This bolsters evidence to the theory that the elongated arm of the child in the photo
was created in a purposeful manner. As noted in the previous paragraph, the elongated arm not only
conveys a sense of maturity, strength, and age that is unbecoming of a child this age, it also yields a
sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of elongating the
limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance. As noted by
anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great importance within the
religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in this context.
The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar scene,
possesses several differences. The most notable difference is the fact that the work of art was crafted
on an entirely different medium, which was the Tempera and gold leaf on wood , according to the
museum s description. The painting is similar to Rogier van der Weyden s work in its depiction of the
Virgin Mary with very soft, blended features. The facial expression of the Virgin Mary is also very
like that of Rogier van der Weyden s painting as well, conveying a sense of peace and

The Cause And Effects Of The Atrocity Of War
The atrocity of war, in the discussion of both World Wars offers to a particular extent an insight into
the cause and effects, that the world experienced during both periods. The First World War was fought
from 1914 1918 and the second between 1939 to late 1945, staging as the largest conflicts of human
history. World War 1 stimulated into existence with the Assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand
of Austria, in June 1914, the war triggered from these notions of militarism, imperialism, nationalism
and alliance system. World War 2, started as a result of political and economic instability in Germany,
the harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles and Adolf Hitler s rise of power and alliance
partnership with Italy and Japan. Both periods signified an entailment to the economic structure,
political regime and social value of the allied and axis powers. The nature ... Show more content on

rates of outcome grew severely between successive years of warfare, and draw attention to specific
developments that changed the perspective through which war was initially carried out. It also aims to
comment on the effect this military advancement had on soldiers and civilians. World War 1 was a

Rehabilitation Of Rail Transport For Relieve Traffic...
B. Rehabilitation of rail transport to relieve traffic congestion
The Tunisian authorities are considering rehabilitating rail transport, especially goods and vehicles
transporting them, in order to decongest the roads. This policy would make an invaluable service to
the country and would bring substantial gains to the entire national community. It should be noted that
more than one million vehicles are traveling on roads. This makes traffic density a real problem for
users, especially in towns and their surroundings, despite the improvement of most roads, the
extension of the motorway network and the construction of hundreds of interchanges. The number of
victims of accidents each year is around 1,600, not to mention the number of injured. Faced with these
realities, it is necessary to draw inspiration from the experiences of other countries by rehabilitating
the transport by rail. The promotion of rail in freight transport is a strategic choice, given its
competitive cost, and its safe and non polluting aspect. Since always it is the SNCFT which ensures
the evacuation of the goods and phosphate with a competitive price. In 2009, 6.1 million tonnes of
phosphates were transported by rail. SNCFT transports 11 million tonnes of cargo per year, of which
more than 8 million tonnes of phosphates are transported to the processing plants located in Gabes and
Sfax. However, since January 2011, this activity has been interrupted due to frequent socio economic
protests in the region.

An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion Essay
An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion
The period following the Renaissance focused the human attention toward the beauty of nature. It was
man s turn to be part of the nature and not the other way around. The term picturesque or compared to
a picture as Michael Woods defines it defines new characteristics of the art from this period.
This period, An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion, had a dual nature rational, responsive to reason,
but also anti rational, responsive to emotion.
Making one s way through the intellectual history of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, one
must be aware of the shifting meaning of such words as rationalism, naturalism, classicism,
romanticism. Like dancers in a reel, they combine and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taste became a value above morality (Stewart et. al., 156). Rococo main themes focused on leisure,
love, and fashion. These themes and the dramatic verve of Rubens gave way to the lyrical tone of
Rubens great followers, Jean Antoine Watteau (1684 1721), Frangois Boucher (1703 1770), and Jean
Honor6 Fragonard (1732 1804), the outstanding masters of three generations of Rococo painting in
France (Stewart et al., 156).
When it comes to Fragonard and his paintings, I have to mention that he is one of my favorite painters.
Paintings like The Swing (1766), A Young Girl Reading (1776), The Study (1769), The Lover
Crowned (1771 73), The Meeting (1771 73) and so many more hold a special magic for me. Every
time I look at his paintings, it is like looking at a magic world. It is more like a dream world, or like an
old fashioned story that never loses its charm for a child s ears. Because of
Fragonard s talent, I can also listen to his magic stories: a stolen kiss, a flirtation giggle, the sound of
the wind browsing through a lovely garden with a magic swing.
From this period, although not a Rococo artist, we have to mention Jean Baptiste Chardin (1699
1779). While his contemporaries painted their high style works of the upstairs aristocratic life,
Chardin painted the downstairs (Stewart et. al., 160): kitchen or pantry copper pots, earthenware jugs,
and raw food.

Similarities And Differences Between Alexander The Great...
The king of kings Alexander the Great and Gaius Julius Caesar are considered to this day as some of
the most influential rulers and military generals in history. While there s a distinct difference between
their journey to power and background, it s undeniable that the two leaders share many similar
characteristics and the infamous ambition both possess that drives them almost to the brink of
obsession in order to achieve their individual goals.
Alexander the Great was born to King Philip II, around 356 B.C. in Macedonia. Alexander witnessed
his father rule Macedonia as the king and having had one of the greatest philosophers at the time,
Aristotle as his teacher it s no surprise that Alexander from a very early age showed characteristics of
a leader. When Alexander managed to tame the horse, Bucephalus his father pointed out even as a
child his ambition is far too great, My son, seek thee out a kingdom equal to thyself; Macedonia has
not room for thee (Plutarch 317). Alexander didn t experience struggles or opposition when he rose to
power, in fact he had inherited his position when his father was assassinated. However, there is no
concrete evidence whether Alexander the great had anything to do with the death of his father.
On the other hand, Julius Caesar s journey to power was nothing but struggles as he slowly ascended
his way to the top. Julius Caesar was born into a family of Aristocrats in Rome around 100 B.C. He
had a set of strict parental figures who would constantly beat him to the point of greatness. When
Caesar was a child he would drive a chariot pretending to be a general like Alexander from a young
age displayed characteristics of a true leader. At the age of fifteen he was first introduced to the
political life, accompanied his father, who was a senate to the forum. That same year his father died
and he had the responsibility of being the head of his family. Shortly after he had gotten himself
married to the daughter of a powerful man but eventually his entire wealth was confiscated as civil
war broke out and he fled. When he had returned four years later the whole roman political system
changed as well as did Caesar.
One of the biggest difference between Alexander and Caesar is that

A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
Ishmael Beah s memoir, A long Way Gone, is very descriptive and has a very effective way of painting
a picture in the reader s mind of what he went through as a boy soldier. Throughout the memoir, Beah
used quite a few statements that impacted me emotionally, on a personal level. His vivid detail, word
choice and how personal, yet professional he kept his writing led me to understand how exactly the
war affected him, and everyone else who lived, and lives, in Sierra Leone. The first quote that stood
out to me was when Beah was hiding with Kaloko outside of a deserted village: I became frustrated
with living in fear. I felt as if I was always waiting for death to come to me, so I decided to go
somewhere where there was at least some peace. (46) I find his word choice in this section interesting,
due to the fact that he used frustrated instead of angry or upset. This could mean that he was becoming
more irritable or short, but not to an extent of anger where is is clear or violent. Also, this frustration
would seem like it would be commonplace in this time, since everyone in Sierra Leone is in danger
since the rebels were ruthlessly killing people and burning villages to the ground. This is part of the
rising action in the story, and helped to build up the idea that his patience with the ongoing war and its
violence was growing thin. Another thing that I noticed in this section of the book is that he said he
felt like he was waiting for death to come to him in a way,

Judith Jarvis Thomas A Defense Of Abortion
Abortion, the deliberate termination of the human pregnancy, has been one of the most controversial
topics affecting our society today. There are several reasons as to why a woman would chose to abort
her pregnancy. She may not feel ready to have a baby, or cannot financially support a new born child.
She may be too immature to have a baby, or she s a victim of rape or incest. No matter what the
situation is, if a woman cannot freely make the decision of terminating an unwanted pregnancy, a
health condition which affects her body and possibly her entire life, then as a human she has lost one
of her most basic rights. Whatever public opinion has offered on the topic, Roe v Wade was the right
decision: our supreme court decided that women should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having an abortion may be a huge stress relief for those women who were victims of rape. In these
tragic situations the victims should not be obligated to have a child. Conceiving a child that resulted
through this horrific circumstance can be a constant reminder to those victims of the trauma they went
through. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, among adult women an
estimated 32, 101 pregnancies result from rape each year . This is a significantly large number, victims
of rape are already in great distress, fear and grief and after the trauma they already experienced they
should not have the added pressure to be obligated by society to conceive they do not want to. Rape
victims have gone through enough mental trauma and that their psychological health should be valued
more than the right to life of the fetus. It is a personal decision the victim should be allowed to make
without any legal bindings. As quoted by Dr. David C. Reardon, how can you deny an abortion to a
twelve year old girl who is the victim of incest ? Further elaborating on this argument, in addition to
rape victims, abortion may be a huge stress relief for those women who are dealing with poverty,
financial difficulties and emotional immaturity. Nearly 750,000 teens get pregnant each year, and most
these women are still in high school (Dosomething.org). The shame of being a teen mother, the

The Physical Values Of Roger Federer And Ray Ban
Like Roger Federer, they are veterans in their designated field. Simply put, both Federer and Ray Ban
are timeless classics. Federer is arguably one of the most attractive men in all of sports. Of course this
highly relates to his great physical shape and facial features, but it is also about his class, humbleness,
and charm. As mentioned in the audit chart, Federer is considered a great philanthropist as he has
helped many people around the world and even has his own foundation. In many ways, he can be
thought of as the perfect gentleman . The perfect complimenting accessory for an attractive gentleman
such as himself is a classic pair of aviator Ray Ban sunglasses.
Of course, attractiveness is only one part of this equation. As mentioned previously, trustworthiness
may be more important for actual purchase persuasiveness. Federer s credibility adds tremendously to
his trustworthiness. He may not have won a grand slam title in 2015 or 2016 but he was still ranked in
the top 3 in the world, and has a great tract record that has proven his ability to still compete and
dominate. When Federer chooses a brand of sunglasses to wear, consumers can be confident in his
choice. Much like Federer, Ray Ban does not have to prove the value of their product. They have both
been around for a long time, and understand what it means to be great.
Another major reason for I would propose this sponsorship is due to Federer apparently not currently
having a sunglasses sponsor. He has some

Hiv Testing in Newborns Essay
This paper presents an ethical analysis of the mandatory newborn HIV testing law enacted in New
York State. The law was passed as an effort to decrease maternal transmission of HIV, by treating
infants born to HIV positive mothers immediately after birth with AZT. Newborn testing was
promoted by the legislative and medical community following the overwhelmingly positive response
from HIV infected pregnant women who were given AZT in the ACTG 076 clinical trials. Pregnant
mothers who were given AZT had a markedly lower transmission rate than mothers who had not
received it. This paper examines this newborn testing policy from a Utilitarian perspective to ascertain

The increased awareness of successful treatment modalities for potentially seropositive infants
heightened the push for legislation mandating HIV testing of newborns (Garrett, 1995) (Nicholson,
2002). Blinded studies, although useful for tracking the number of seropositive infants in the state,
deprived HIV positive mothers and their at risk infants of any opportunity for follow up care or
interventions (Berger, Rosner, and Farnsworth 1996). The results of the anonymous newborn
screenings, coupled with the promising treatment research from ACTG 076, was the impetus for the
State of New York to enact policy mandating the testing of all newborns for the human deficiency
virus (Cameron, 2002).
Agents Affected by Mandatory HIV Testing
Every mother who delivers a baby in the state of New York is affected by this policy. Because every
infant is tested at birth, every mother will be aware of her own HIV status by default, even if she had
refused testing during her pregnancy. Critics of the policy cite these losses of autonomy and privacy as
the most serious drawbacks of the new law

Veterans suffering from PTSD are unable to integrate the memories of the trauma properly. Amnesia is
likely to be caused by excessive norepinephrine (NE) or vasopressin release at the time of the trauma.
Memories of the trauma can also be triggered by physiological arousal. They tend to relive the past
and misinterpret innocuous stimuli as potential threats. They are also more sensitive to sounds.
Neutralizing stimuli in the environment to attend to relevant tasks is very difficult. Instead they tend to
shut down to compensate. This leads to decreased involvement in ordinary, everyday life (Van der
Kolk, B., McFarlane, A., Weisaeth, L., 1996).
Diagnosing PTSD and MTBI is done by grouping symptoms together, and difficulties in
differentiating between these brain disorders are caused by symptoms that occur in both disorders.
Even though the two can be difficult to discern by symptoms alone, in a brain scan, they are hardly
similar. A veteran with a traumatic brain injury shows less activity in areas of the brain that are linked
to the ability to control mood and behavior, form memories and coordinate

Tim Bowler s Storm Catcher
You pay the money and you see her. You don t and she s dead. (Bowler, 105) Tim Bowler wrote the

charge to watch Ella (El) and Sammy. But Fin asks Ella if he can go to his friend Billy s house and he
knows that Ella doesn t like being alone in the house because she is afraid since the house is old but,
Ella tells him to go and she is left with Sammy. A bit after Fin left, El gets kidnapped and Sammy runs
away unexpectedly. Now they are trying to find her and Sammy. The lesson that is trying to be told is
listen to what you are told or something bad might happen, and try different things to prevent bad
things from happening. From the very beginning, Fin does not listen to his parents so then Ella gets
kidnapped and Sammy gets scared and runs away. I was only going to stay for a few minutes. El said
she was okay on her own ... But she s not okay on her own! You know she hates being alone in the

Effects Of Poverty And Poverty
The social problem I plan to discuss in my paper is the effect poverty has on society. In this paper I
will go into detail about income inequality and the effect poverty has on crime, health and children. As
someone who has family members living in poverty this social issue is important to me. I hope to
pinpoint alternative approaches to solving this issue and my ultimate goal is to find an optimal
solution to the poverty crisis. It s no surprise that poverty and crime rates are positively correlated.
Through hypothesis testing Judith R. Blau and Peter M. Blau concluded High rates of criminal
violence are apparently the price of racial and economic inequalities. In a society founded on the
principle that all men are created equal economic inequalities rooted in ascribed positions violate the
spirit of democracy and are likely to create alienation, despair, and conflict. The hypothesis derived
from this assumption, which is also deducible from a general sociological theory, is that racial
socioeconomic inequalities are a major source of much criminal violence. () These findings are
significant in proving that United States economic inequality does cause conflict. According to a 2010
wealth spread chart the top 5% of Americans posses 74.2% of the nations wealth. With a wealth
spread like this, conflict is bound to arise. A famous study done by Shaw and McKay in (1942)
compared delinquency rates in various areas within 21 cities and showed that the same variations in
delinquency among socioeconomically different urban areas persisted for several decades even though
their populations and ethnic compositions completely changed during that time. This study concluded
that poverty is a main factor for delinquency rates. () Numerous of other studies have observed the
highest crime rates in the poorest of areas. In the poorest of areas people need to do what they can to
make ends meet. Crime is a necessity to some individual in order to feed their families and is not
always necessarily done out of hate. Time and time again this can be proven especially when natural
disasters occur. People lose everything and desperate times call for desperate measures, which usually
involves looting. Money is everything in this world

About 20 years later in 1981, a few New York City banks including, Citibank and Chase Manhattan,
introduced the first form of online banking to the US. The first service allowed customers to send
transfers and bills by connecting the TV set and telephone line (7). While this is different than what
we think of as traditional online banking, this was the cornerstone to what online banking has become
today.
1990 1995:
After a long absence of innovations to online banking, Stanford Credit Union was the first financial
institution to offer online banking to all of its customers in 1994(7). This was important for online
banking because it set a standard that helped get more financial institutions on board with online

Health Inequities Experienced By Aboriginal And Torres...
Reaching Our Potential Health Inequities
PDHPE Class 3
Tahnee Hodson Term 3, 2015
1. Describe the health inequities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in
Australia.
Health inequities describe the differences in health status or in the distribution of health resources

In Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders experience far more ill health than other
Australians. The major inequities experienced among these people include: *
Younger mortality. As an example, Indigenous children aged 0 4 died at more than twice the rate of
non Indigenous children in 2012. Indigenous child death rates fell by 30% from 2001 to 2012

How Do Red Blood Cells Affect The Cardiovascular System
Every second, about two million red blood cells die in the human body. Fortunately, the bone marrow
can keep up with the body by creating red blood cells at the same rate of which they die. If red blood
cells malfunction, there are serious diseases and consequences that will affect the Cardiovascular
system. Red blood cells are built to complete specific functions in this system. The red blood cell
affects the body s blood flow, and the amount of oxygen in all parts of the body.
Red blood cells play a big role in the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system s main
function is to get blood from the heart, and distribute it to the whole body. The cardiovascular system
is a highway network that links to all parts of the human body (Pearson 78). This system is made up of
the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The blood in this system consists of plasma, red blood cells, white
blood cells, and platelets. These substances provide the body with oxygen, and protection from other
viruses and bacteria. Without the cardiovascular system, the human body would not be able to
function. The red blood cell is a biconcave disk, which means ... Show more content on

Some symptoms of a high or low red blood cell count can include: fatigue, joint pain, and shortness of
breath (WebMD). A normal red blood cell count is anywhere from 4.7 to 6.1 million cells per
microliter for men, and anywhere from 4.2 to 5.4 million cells per microliter for women. Some causes
for a high red blood cell count are: smoking, heart disease, dehydration, or a bone marrow disease.
Another form of malfunction in the red blood cell is anemia. There are multiple types of anemia, such
as: sickle cell anemia, iron deficiency anemia, and hemolytic anemia. Hemolytic anemia is when red
blood cells are destroyed by an abnormal process in your body (WebMD). These malfunctions affect
how well the red blood cell and cardiovascular system work in the human

Analysis Of Whittier Narrows Nature Center
Whittier Narrows Nature Center Conservation of our natural environment is of vital importance. Now,
people should preserve nature and protect it. In addition, it is imperative to realize that, the survival of
humanity and many creatures depends mainly on the state of the environment around us. As matter of
fact, science place a relevant part in the conservation of the planet. Moreover, Physical geography is
the study of all natural forms and processes in an environment, also, the field covers the cause and
effect of human activity on the environment. Geographers study the location and distribution of things
tangible things such as rainfall, mountains, and trees (Hess, Darrel, Physical Geography, Third
California Edition) For this reason, I decided to visit The Whittier Narrows Center. It is one of the
many centers that have been established in US to conserve the most crucial asset that human beings
possess, the environment. Those who study geography realize that it is important to conduct a
thorough study on the center and its activities to identify what makes it such a unique site. This project
is providing an insight of the center by describing its natural settings per Physical Geography. The
paper will focus on the center s location, geographical settings, weather, climate, plants and trees,
soils, wildlife, terrain, local history and a site map. The Whittier Narrows Nature Center is located at
1000 Durfee Road South El Monte, Ca 91733. Its coordinates are

New Orleans Narrative
Quarter Million? Doubt it. Though this room looks nice, I d say this is a typical loft in New Orleans.
Far less than that I d imagine. But I hope you realize we can t stay here the whole night. This is the
home to a single chick and she s most likely out partying tonight and she ll be home before the sun
comes up. I know, I know. Leo grumbled, burying her face into the cushion crinkling her nose as the
couch pleaded her to stay. If she had the strength to whisk away the soft piece of heaven with her she
would ve in a heartbeat. But can t we just improvise if the owners do come? She looked ahead and
caught the moonlight that poured through the ivory pane doors, reminding her that the room was not
hers. It was never hers. What belonged to her, however, was a shabby miniature apartment that resided
in downtown New Orleans wherever distant that location could have been at that moment. Still, in her
mind, Leo romantically considered that this loft existed just for her a ticket past socioeconomic
borders even if it was just for a night. What transpires in the life of a middle class resident of the city?
Would they view the streets as Leo had? She absentmindedly kicked her feet. Questions that needed
more digging into displayed themselves in front of her, begging to be answered. ... Show more content

Daubert V. Merrell Dow Pharmaceutical, Inc. Case Analysis
In the evolution of forensic science, many types of genetic and other forensic evidence are currently
used in the various levels of litigation has posed significant challenges for judges and attorneys in
several cases. Some of these challenges are due to the lack of the scientific explanations of those that
deem themselves experts and unreliable scientific evidence that do not meet the empirical testability,
reliability, and validity (Fradella, 2002).This controversy stems through the many trials that use
experts during and through the determination of the admissibility of scientific and technical evidence.
An example of this is the case in 1993, where the U.S. Supreme Court s decision in Daubert v. Merrell

Essay about The Role of Women in the American Civil War
When the American Civil War began on April 12th, 1861, over 3 million Union and Confederate
soldiers prepared for battle. Men from all over America were called upon to support their side in the
confrontation. While their battles are well documented and historically analyzed for over a hundred
years, there is one aspect, one dark spot missing in the picture: the role of women in the American
Civil War. From staying at home to take care of the children to disguising themselves as men to fight
on the battlefield, women contributed in many ways to the war effort on both sides. Though very few
women are recognized for their vital contributions, even fewer are The women during the war felt an
obligation to assist in one form or another. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Gordon Example (Confederate Wife) Union and Confederate generals brought their wives either
because they longed for their company or the wives determination to accompany their husbands could

I wish the Yankees would capture Mrs. Gordon and hold her till this war is over (Volo 170).
Hawks (Union Nurse) Esther Hill Hawks, M.D. is one of the many women that decided to stay away
from the battlefields in order to support the Union Army. She and her husband were well to do doctors
that worked in a hospital that took in and cared for black soldiers. On one day Hawks was to expect

old, Charley Reason formerly a slave, but of late years resident in Syracuse NY., I have taken a great

I know what I am fighting for, only a few years ago I ran away from a man in Maryland who said he
owned me and since then I ve worked on a farm in Syracuse but as soon as the government would take
me I came to fight, not for my country, I never had any, but to gain one (Hawks 51).

Loyalty In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, the faith of God s most devout follower is challenged repeatedly at the hand of the
adversary. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of many of Job s possessions and family
members and end with an affliction of skin sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging of his wife
and friends, Job remains entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is apparent that
one s faith and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material
possessions.
In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will continue to both
worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your hand upon all that he has, and he will
surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job 1:11). The adversary believes that Job s devotion to God
stems from all of the things with which God has endowed him, but God insists that his loyalty is
independent of what he has. God allows the adversary to take away much of the ... Show more content

He exclaims, They [the wicked] spend their days in prosperity... (Job 21:13). Job questions why sinful
people are able to live successful, materialistic lives when he, a man who was blameless and upright
(Job 1:1), was unable to maintain his happiness in life due to what he believes to be acts of God. Job
comprehends the severity of what it is that he has lost but neglects to consider the faith that he has not.
People often focus more intently on that which they lose or that which they think that they deserve but
have not been given rather than on with what they have been blessed. By emphasizing the negative
aspects of their lives, people often overlook their true blessings and make themselves unhappy. It is
not the removal of his material possessions that made Job unhappy, it is the shift in his focus from
what he had in his life to what he did

Seeing all those mountain ridges, cliffs, and edges on my own eyes, not on TELEVESION,

  • 2. History Is Memory History can be defined in a number of ways. One could say history is a record of events that occurred in the past, or another person could say that history is the knowledge and facts of the past. Carl Becker s definition is perhaps the simplest and finest definition of history. Becker defines history as the memory of things said and done (223). Memory is history, which is what history truly is and how it should be looked at by mankind. As long as mankind has that memory, then that memory of the things said and done will become history. For mankind to truly be able to define what history is, they must understand the importance of preservation, interpretations, and periodization with the things said and done. If history is memory, and that memory is lost, then history can be lost forever. The Earth itself is billions of years old and mankind has been around on the planet for only a few thousands of those years. In her book, Marnie Hughes Warrington mentions a piece of work from R. G. Collingwood in which he defines history as a science whose business is to study events not accessible to our observation (35). Mankind has only been around for a small number of blinks of an eye, which means that there is a significant amount of history that mankind still does not know about, and possibly may never know. Aphrodite of Melos for example, is a famous and beautiful ancient Greek freestanding statue from the Hellenistic Period. The arms of the statue are missing and mankind does ... And I am also going to be telling you some facts about it . I m going to be telling you about the machine i m using how often you would see it on a day to day basis.ect... Okay so the first facts that i m going to tell you are my machine are how often you see it how gravity affects it and a few more things. Okay my machine design is a basic kinda roll cage for the eggs that we use. And on a day to day basis you would probably never see this design but it can help because if you drop and egg in this machine it would save it. Okay drag is basically like when you throw a rock or anything and it s attached to a balloon and or something that kinda floats and it goes down slower . Air resistance plays a massive point in dropping items because sometimes if the item that your dropping is big it might fall faster because the air doesn t have enough power for the item. One way that I think will help the impact is to put rubber bands on all the sides and lift the roll cage for the egg a bit higher than the bottom of the machine so it won t hit the ... • 4. The Key To Survival Guilt, And The Moral Logic Of Survival The instincts and emotions connected to survival has benefits and negatives in a person s life. The Seventh Man , Moral Logic of Survival Guilt , and The Key to Disaster Survival all show how people are affected by survival. From what I ve read from the stories most people feel guilty after survival. It s not all guilt there are many emotions that go with survival. In The Seventh Man the narrator loses a friend that he felt he could have saved. The man and his friend K were down by the ocean while they were in the eye of a huge storm. K was looking at stuff thrown on the beach by the storm, the man was watching for big waves and high winds. The man soon felt the wind start to kick up and saw a big wave getting closer to the shore. He yelled for K, but K wasn t listening he was almost in his own world. The man started to run, but stopped and yelled for K again this time K heard him and started running but it was too late the wave crashed over K onto the shore. The wave took K out into the cold ocean water. They never found K s body after that. The man couldn t forgive himself for what happened to K and liced his life in fear of losing or hurting people. In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt the narrator explains why people feel guilty after surviving something someone else didn t or not being there for someone to help. Soldiers often carry this burden home survivor guilt being perhaps the kind most familiar to us. (pg.153, Sherman), that sentence told me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Philip Condit and the Boeing 777 Philip Condit and the Development of the 777 Daniel W. Sobel Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Abstract This paper of Philip Condit and the Development of the 777; describes the management, and technological changes that Philip Condit made to the development style of the Boeing Company. Before Philip Condit took over the 777 program, Boeing had been making airplanes in the same fashion as it had been doing for 70 years prior. Mr. Condit saw the chance to bring Boeing into the 21st century not only with the new technology of computer aided drafting, but with modern management techniques as well. The 777 program proved to be the perfect testing ground for a companywide change in the way Boeing did its business. Philip Condit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the Government subsidize Airbus s development phase gave Airbus company a great advantage (Lawrence, 2008). Airbus at the time also had the advantage in terms of technology. The fly by wire technology had been in use for some time in the Airbus A320. The two new models; A330 and A340; also used this technology. Boeing had yet to produce a fly by wire system (Richards, 1990). The industry environment was also in Boeings favor at the time. Boeing had a history of dedicated customers. The company had been making commercially successful jet aircraft since it first developed the 707 . Boeing was so successful at manufacturing the jet aircraft, that it was one of two companies left making them. This advantage gave them the ability to be a powerful supplier. The expense of the development process also made it extremely difficult for new companies to even enter the market. Boeing faced only one competitor at this point; Airbus (Pearce, Robinson, 2003). This was where Philip Condit stepped in. He had been an engineer with Boeing since 1965; and assisted in the design of the 707, 727, 737, 747, and 757. He understood how the company operated. One of the first things he changed was how the aircraft was to be physically designed. Previously, the engineers would design a wing on paper, build it out of wood or foam, and then add it to a mockup of the aircraft. The people designing the fuel tanks would then add in their ... • 7. The Importance Of Group Communication 1. Group communication is thought of to be the process of acting or responding to information someone else has brought to our attention (Beebe, Masterson 2012). Individuals make up a group when the number of members exceeds two and, although debated amongst researchers, reaches somewhere between twelve and twenty (Beebe, Masterson, 2012). A small group recognizes communication amongst a small group of people who share a common purpose, who feel a sense of belonging to the group, and who exert influence on one another (Beebe, Masterson 2012). Meanwhile, Beebe and Masterson (2012) also explain that a team is a coordinated group of individuals organized to work together to achieve a specific, common goal while maintaining a rather structured sense. It is to our understanding that teams differ from groups in a number of ways including: team goals are often more specific and measureable, roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, rules are expectations are written, and take a lot more coordination and collaboration (Beebe, Masterson 2012). While a primary group exists to meet human s needs to associate with others, a great example of this would include a group of your college friends, whom have all graduated, meeting up for an informal get together; whereas a secondary group s main purpose is to accomplish a task or achieve a goal such as a study group that gathers in order to learn and understand information (Beebe, Masterson 2012). 2. Ken shows signs of an authoritarian complex as his personality has an exceedingly apparent correlation with; sociopathy, draconian authority, and an almost dictator like persona. Using references from the film we gain proof of Ken s autocratic demeanour. During the time after the Oilers (Richmond high basketball team) win their first game Timo Cruz comes to the gym seeking to amalgamate with his bygone team. Timo becoming a perfect caricature of penitence Ken acted against this remorse with a gargantuan and quite frankly unattainable task (2500 push ups and 1000 suicides by Friday.) as a form of punishment. One of the most famous ignominies was the Salem witch trials in 1692. During the witch trials, many were wrongfully accused and some were executed. There are many theories about why this horror story commenced, but there are no clear appointed reasons. Medical factors may have contributed to the events such as ergot poisoning, traumatic stress, and mass hysteria. Considering that this was an early time in American history, it was likely that these factors were overlooked and ignored. This is a mystery impossible to overlook. The first accusations were made by Reverend Parris niece, Abigail and daughter Betty. At the time Parris daughter was sick and no one could diagnose her with any medical issues. She showed symptoms of throwing temper tantrums, spoke in strange manners, and sensations of being pinched, among others. Health professionals believe that their actions were reflections of post traumatic syndrome or perhaps abusive parents (The Economist, A31). Had Betty s behaviors been examined by professionals today, they may have been able to diagnose her properly. There were other girls aged between 11 and 16 years, who complained of similar symptoms such as a lofty amount of emotions and pains, which were then given the authority to accuse the witches who were responsible (McHugh 20). Lewis and Clark traveled through these cliffs during their expedition in 1805, making it a historical monument. The use of two contrasting colors, the blue of the water and sky and the tan of the cliffs and couds, make the tan color stand out creating such a visually pleasing and dynamic effect. The organic fluffy clouds and the ripples in the water convey a peaceful sense to the scene. The pompous cliffs stand solidly contributing to the historical importance of this location. The artist captures the illusion of depth through atmospheric perspective; as the object gets farther it encompasses less detailed contributing to the descriptive nature of it. Since the left side of the painting is much heavier than the right this painting is asymmetrical. Rosen s purpose of her article is to argue that social networking sites are doing more harm than good. Rosen uses multiple studies and quotes to present her argument. In this article Rosen uses a plethora of examples and sources to make her argument/ideas credible. Rosen used one of Stanley Milgram s studies to show how there were six degrees of separation, but now with social media people are connected by closer to three degrees of separation, according to Duncan J. Watts. Rosen uses the essay The Strength of Weak Ties by sociologist Mark Granovetter to strengthen her argument on how social media is mostly weak ties and not true real friendships. Also she uses a survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project that states more than half of all Americans between the ages of twelve and seventeen use some online social media coverage of social networking site. Then Rosen goes on to say how there is a nearly unbridgeable generational divide, with tech savvy youngsters redefining friendship while their doddering elders look on with bafflement and increasing anxiety. This survey helps Rosen s argument that states how friendship is not the same anymore. The way Rosen structures her argument is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the recent years nanoscale sensors have become more and more popular. When making a nanostructure based sensor the most important aspects that have to be taken into account are: sensitivity, selectivity and stability. The way gas sensors function is determined by the convection of electrical conductivity due to surface reactions such as oxidation or reduction caused by the exposure to different types of gases. Recently a great quantity of effort has been put into resolving important issues like novel sensing material resources, data analytical method (Fast Fourier and wave transform, pattern recognition), measurement techniques (static and dynamic), fabrication methods and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tin oxide gas sensors have been manufactured in the form of thin foils in which nanosized grains are screen printed onto prefabricated electrons, followed by torching at high temperatures. These sensors can easily detect substances like hydrogen, vapour particles emitted by alcohol, oxygen, and dangerous gases like carbon monoxide [2 3]. This technology is desirable because it has a large number of advantages: small dimensions, low production costs, low power consumption, on line operation and high compatibility with microelectric processing. Moreover the necessity for gas sensors is very important due to the fact that many kinds of gases are emitted from various sources into the places where we work, where we live or in the outdoors. Many of these gases are dangerous to human beings and also to the environment [4]. Furthermore most gases have a very low concentration therefore sensing devices must be able to detect the presence of this hazardous gases very effectively and monitor them so that no life threatening problems develop. Therefore this technology has a wide range of appliation, from industrial applications to household safety. Nanowire sensor manufacture. Despite the fact that Rogier van der Weyden created this painting in the Netherlands and was born in Tournai, Belgium, their primary influence appeared to stem from the Italian Renaissance, which had begun to use the technique of oil paintings with increasing frequency by turn of the 15th century. It also worth noting that the fingers of the Virgin Mary were longer in length than that of the average woman as well. This bolsters evidence to the theory that the elongated arm of the child in the photo was created in a purposeful manner. As noted in the previous paragraph, the elongated arm not only conveys a sense of maturity, strength, and age that is unbecoming of a child this age, it also yields a sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of elongating the limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance. As noted by anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great importance within the religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in this context. The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar scene, possesses several differences. The most notable difference is the fact that the work of art was crafted on an entirely different medium, which was the Tempera and gold leaf on wood , according to the museum s description. Rehabilitation of rail transport to relieve traffic congestion The Tunisian authorities are considering rehabilitating rail transport, especially goods and vehicles transporting them, in order to decongest the roads. This policy would make an invaluable service to the country and would bring substantial gains to the entire national community. It should be noted that more than one million vehicles are traveling on roads. This makes traffic density a real problem for users, especially in towns and their surroundings, despite the improvement of most roads, the extension of the motorway network and the construction of hundreds of interchanges. The number of victims of accidents each year is around 1,600, not to mention the number of injured. Faced with these realities, it is necessary to draw inspiration from the experiences of other countries by rehabilitating the transport by rail. The promotion of rail in freight transport is a strategic choice, given its competitive cost, and its safe and non polluting aspect. Since always it is the SNCFT which ensures the evacuation of the goods and phosphate with a competitive price. In 2009, 6.1 million tonnes of phosphates were transported by rail. Paintings like The Swing (1766), A Young Girl Reading (1776), The Study (1769), The Lover Crowned (1771 73), The Meeting (1771 73) and so many more hold a special magic for me. The king of kings Alexander the Great and Gaius Julius Caesar are considered to this day as some of the most influential rulers and military generals in history. While there s a distinct difference between their journey to power and background, it s undeniable that the two leaders share many similar characteristics and the infamous ambition both possess that drives them almost to the brink of obsession in order to achieve their individual goals. Alexander the Great was born to King Philip II, around 356 B.C. in Macedonia. Alexander witnessed his father rule Macedonia as the king and having had one of the greatest philosophers at the time, Aristotle as his teacher it s no surprise that Alexander from a very early age showed characteristics of a leader. When Alexander managed to tame the horse, Bucephalus his father pointed out even as a child his ambition is far too great, My son, seek thee out a kingdom equal to thyself; Macedonia has not room for thee (Plutarch 317). Alexander didn t experience struggles or opposition when he rose to power, in fact he had inherited his position when his father was assassinated. However, there is no concrete evidence whether Alexander the great had anything to do with the death of his father. On the other hand, Julius Caesar s journey to power was nothing but struggles as he slowly ascended his way to the top. Julius Caesar was born into a family of Aristocrats in Rome around 100 B.C. He had a set of strict parental figures who would constantly beat him to the point of greatness. When Caesar was a child he would drive a chariot pretending to be a general like Alexander from a young age displayed characteristics of a true leader. At the age of fifteen he was first introduced to the political life, accompanied his father, who was a senate to the forum. That same year his father died and he had the responsibility of being the head of his family. Shortly after he had gotten himself married to the daughter of a powerful man but eventually his entire wealth was confiscated as civil war broke out and he fled. A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah Ishmael Beah s memoir, A long Way Gone, is very descriptive and has a very effective way of painting a picture in the reader s mind of what he went through as a boy soldier. Throughout the memoir, Beah used quite a few statements that impacted me emotionally, on a personal level. His vivid detail, word choice and how personal, yet professional he kept his writing led me to understand how exactly the war affected him, and everyone else who lived, and lives, in Sierra Leone. The first quote that stood out to me was when Beah was hiding with Kaloko outside of a deserted village: I became frustrated with living in fear. I felt as if I was always waiting for death to come to me, so I decided to go somewhere where there was at least some peace. (46) I find his word choice in this section interesting, due to the fact that he used frustrated instead of angry or upset. This could mean that he was becoming more irritable or short, but not to an extent of anger where is is clear or violent. Also, this frustration would seem like it would be commonplace in this time, since everyone in Sierra Leone is in danger since the rebels were ruthlessly killing people and burning villages to the ground. This is part of the rising action in the story, and helped to build up the idea that his patience with the ongoing war and its violence was growing thin. She may be too immature to have a baby, or she s a victim of rape or incest. No matter what the situation is, if a woman cannot freely make the decision of terminating an unwanted pregnancy, a health condition which affects her body and possibly her entire life, then as a human she has lost one of her most basic rights. As someone who has family members living in poverty this social issue is important to me. I hope to pinpoint alternative approaches to solving this issue and my ultimate goal is to find an optimal solution to the poverty crisis. It s no surprise that poverty and crime rates are positively correlated. Through hypothesis testing Judith R. Blau and Peter M. Blau concluded High rates of criminal violence are apparently the price of racial and economic inequalities. In a society founded on the principle that all men are created equal economic inequalities rooted in ascribed positions violate the spirit of democracy and are likely to create alienation, despair, and conflict. The hypothesis derived from this assumption, which is also deducible from a general sociological theory, is that racial socioeconomic inequalities are a major source of much criminal violence. () These findings are significant in proving that United States economic inequality does cause conflict. According to a 2010 wealth spread chart the top 5% of Americans posses 74.2% of the nations wealth. With a wealth spread like this, conflict is bound to arise. A famous study done by Shaw and McKay in (1942) compared delinquency rates in various areas within 21 cities and showed that the same variations in delinquency among socioeconomically different urban areas persisted for several decades even though their populations and ethnic compositions completely changed during that time. This study concluded that poverty is a main factor for delinquency rates. () Numerous of other studies have observed the highest crime rates in the poorest of areas. In the poorest of areas people need to do what they can to make ends meet. Crime is a necessity to some individual in order to feed their families and is not always necessarily done out of hate. Time and time again this can be proven especially when natural disasters occur. People lose everything and desperate times call for desperate measures, which usually involves looting. That same year, online banking was built into Microsoft s money personal finance sloppy disc software. Over 100,000 began accessing online banking using this device (5). 1996 2000: By the mid 1990 s most of the major banks now offered online Bill Pay to all of its customers for a small monthly fee (6). Describe the health inequities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. Health inequities describe the differences in health status or in the distribution of health resources between different population groups, ascending from the social conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. In Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders experience far more ill health than other Australians. The major inequities experienced among these people include: * Younger mortality. As an example, Indigenous children aged 0 4 died at more than twice the rate of non Indigenous children in 2012. Indigenous child death rates fell by 30% from 2001 to 2012 compared with 22% for non Indigenous children. The largest gap in death rates between Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians was in circulatory disease deaths (22% of the gap) followed by endocrine, metabolic and nutritional disorders (particularly diabetes) (14% of the gap). Fortunately, the bone marrow can keep up with the body by creating red blood cells at the same rate of which they die. If red blood cells malfunction, there are serious diseases and consequences that will affect the Cardiovascular system. Red blood cells are built to complete specific functions in this system. The red blood cell affects the body s blood flow, and the amount of oxygen in all parts of the body. Red blood cells play a big role in the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system s main function is to get blood from the heart, and distribute it to the whole body. The cardiovascular system is a highway network that links to all parts of the human body (Pearson 78). This system is made up of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The blood in this system consists of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. These substances provide the body with oxygen, and protection from other viruses and bacteria. In addition, it is imperative to realize that, the survival of humanity and many creatures depends mainly on the state of the environment around us. As matter of fact, science place a relevant part in the conservation of the planet. Moreover, Physical geography is the study of all natural forms and processes in an environment, also, the field covers the cause and effect of human activity on the environment. Geographers study the location and distribution of things tangible things such as rainfall, mountains, and trees (Hess, Darrel, Physical Geography, Third California Edition) For this reason, I decided to visit The Whittier Narrows Center. It is one of the many centers that have been established in US to conserve the most crucial asset that human beings possess, the environment. But I hope you realize we can t stay here the whole night. This is the home to a single chick and she s most likely out partying tonight and she ll be home before the sun comes up. I know, I know. If she had the strength to whisk away the soft piece of heaven with her she would ve in a heartbeat. But can t we just improvise if the owners do come? What belonged to her, however, was a shabby miniature apartment that resided in downtown New Orleans wherever distant that location could have been at that moment. Still, in her mind, Leo romantically considered that this loft existed just for her a ticket past socioeconomic borders even if it was just for a night. While their battles are well documented and historically analyzed for over a hundred years, there is one aspect, one dark spot missing in the picture: the role of women in the American Civil War. From staying at home to take care of the children to disguising themselves as men to fight on the battlefield, women contributed in many ways to the war effort on both sides. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of many of Job s possessions and family members and end with an affliction of skin sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging of his wife and friends, Job remains entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is apparent that one s faith and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material possessions. In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will continue to both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your hand upon all that he has, and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job 1:11).
