Positives And Negatives Of Consumerism
Just what is consumerism, and is it beneficial or detrimental to our economy and society? Basically,
consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the
economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that
consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also argued
that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society as a whole.
There are flaws in the system of course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are also benefits
to it, such as, the creation of new jobs, the growth of businesses, and even a show of patriotism. In
essence, consumerism is both a positive and a negative force in the modern world, depending on how
it is utilized and portrayed, for example: a person with a positive world value would best consider
balancing out their life so they are neither needlessly consuming nor being a minimalist to a ... Show

There is methods of taking it too far, such as wearing the same dress for an entire year (Holt 1 3), but
there is a way to use minimalism within reason to benefit both arguments. And while it is good to care
about the environment and not waste materials, people should not take it to extremes that could be
unhygienic or detrimental to their health. (Holt 1 3). A perfect example of a healthy medium would be
being considerate to the fact that consumers have the option to only buy necessities and the occasional
goods and/or services for entertainment or pleasure (Millburn and Nicodemus). The idea of the
healthy medium has long been since argued from even before the 1980 s, when people considered the
idea of Whoever dies with the most toys wins, to today where many are starting to think that we must

Essay On The Us Constitution And The Bill Of Rights
The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights are iconic pieces of American History. These two
documents are very important for every American to know and to read critically because it can highly
affect them. However, there are many people in the country that do not know what is exactly in these
documents. I have read through these pieces, and I will be discussing what I found to be most
surprising to find in the piece. Also, the items that I expected to find in the documents that is not there.
Firstly, I will begin with the Constitution. After reading the Constitution, there were many things that I
was shocked to see in there. The first one was in Article 1, section 2. While I knew it mentioned the
number of representatives in the House of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I just figured if there was proof, then there would not need to be multiple witness testimonies. Finally
at the end of Article VII, there is a note of all the mistakes made in the piece, this includes, The Word,
the, being interlined between the seventh and eighth Lines of the first Page, The Word Thirty being
partly written on an Erazure in the fifteenth Line of the first Page, The Words is tried being interlined
between the thirty second and thirty third Lines of the first Page and the Word the being interlined
between the forty third and forty fourth Lines of the second Page. . I did not know that was there. At
first I was very confused as to what exactly those lines meant. However, I feel like that is a nice touch
to keep because it is a reminder of the actual document. In similar fashion, I took a look at the Bill of
Rights. After reviewing the Bill of Rights, there were many things I was surprised to see. The first one
I will start with is the Second Amendment, which states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to
the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew
the Second Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well
regulated army for the United States, as well. Everyone around me has just discussed about being able
to have guns not the other items. In the

Apocalypse Now Symbolism Essay
According to Tommy Douglas, Man can now fly in the air like a bird, swim under the ocean like a
fish, he can burrow into the ground like a mole. Now if only he could walk the earth like a man, this
would be paradise. The use of birds have been used as different symbols in literature has been
prevalent during our readings, some literature I would like to emphasis on is the film Apocalypse Now
directed by Francis Ford Coppola, The Birds directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Heart of Darkness by
Joseph Conrad, The Birds Daphne du Maurier, the musical art work of Charlie Parker Ornithology.
The use of birds has been present to most of these books and film adaptations, but one film that had a
lot bird like symbols was the film Apocalypse Now. What is the meaning behind this? Well, the reason
why I think they would use helicopters in the film is that it shows how the technologically advance,
the Americans were compared to the savages . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this movie it involves a lot of symbolism that ranges from money to greed. One part of the movie
that shows a great example of this is when Melanie Daniels (portrayed by Tippi Hedren) and Mitch
Brenner (portrayed by Rod Taylor) was in the Davidson s pet store. In the pet store when both Melanie
and Mitch were having a conversation, Mitch asked if it was horrible having all the birds in their
cages. What is the meaning of the cage in The Birds? Well, the film is trying to suggest that people can
be imprisoned by the exclusive nature of love. For example, Melanie mentioned in the conversation
that she lives in a gilded cage. Even though she s an heiress, it can be hard to leave the life one
inherits. Birds are not the only species caged on their well being. Humans are like a caged animal as
well, because we are regimented on when it is time to eat, sleep, or work. In that scene it was not the
birds who are cage, but it was really the human

The Mountain Man Brewery Company
Mountain Man Brewery Company was founded by the now retired President and owners Oscar
Prangel, in 1925. Oscar formulated an old family recipe with flavorful hops and barley that developed
to become what is now known as West Virginia s beer. Time had progressed and Mountain Man
Brewery had become a thriving business and a common beer of choice amongst the working class
men beer drinkers. In the 1960 s Mountain Man Brewery had established a well respected brand
throughout the Central Regions, beginning with West Virginia, and expanding to Illinois, Indiana,
Ohio, and Michigan. By 2005, Mountain Man Brewery Company had made profitable footprints with
financial revenue of $50 million dollars and sells of over 520,000 barrels of its unique family beer. As
time had progressed on, new trends of beer drinkers transitioned a decline in sells performance for the
first time ever in Mountain Man Brewery Company. The decline revealed a weakness within the
company that only bought forth fear of the unknown future of the company s product and brand. Oscar
had recently hired the next generation on MMBC his son Chris to manage the marketing operations.
Chris had presented to his father the possible expansion of introducing a new beverage of choice for
the upcoming beer drinkers. Recent research amongst beer drinker s uncovered potential growth for
MMBC and the fear of eroding the historical brand of loyalty. Chris had researched a strategy to

What Is The Difference Between Beowulf Book And Movie
Beowulf was a book composed during the Anglo Saxon period of the world. It is a fictional about an
epic hero know as Beowulf who kills mighty creatures and saves kingdoms from opposing armies and
demons. This hero was from part of a tribe of a tribe known as the Gaets. In this story he comes to the
aid of the Danes and their king Hrothgar. He battles multiple creatures for the Danish king and his
helpless people during his time in the kingdom. He was seen as a hero their and feared throughout the
surrounding kingdoms. In this essay i will compare and contrast the Beowulf movie and the book. I
will discuss the differences in the setting, theme, and characters between the two. I will also discuss

There are many differences between the two such as setting, characters, and the organization of the
storyline. In the book they start out at in Danish kingdom and switch the Gaet s kingdom with the
return of Beowulf. But in the movie the setting is always in the Danish kingdom. The stories are
similar because they both start out at Herot hall in the Danish kingdom. As far as characters go Wiglaf,
Beowulf, and Hrothgar all have the same character roles in both the storylines. But in the movie there
is not a character named Aschere like in the book. Instead Unferth s role as a Gaet in the book is
opposite for the movie. Grendel was killed the same way when Beowulf tears his arm off. For
example the mom wasn t killed in the movie and she became Beowulf s lover. In the movie Hrothgar
is Grendel s dad but not in the book. In the book Wiglaf deals the final blow to the dragon with his
sword but in the movie Beowulf rips its heart out. In both the book and movie Beowulf is showered
with treasure and honor from the grateful Danes. Also he is buried or sent away with his treasure in
both of the storylines. Unferth doubts Beowulf s ability to fight the monster but ends up giving him his
sword as a token of gratitude in both of the stories. In the movie Hrothgar kills himself but we don t
know how he dies in the book. But the man key difference is Beowulf being the king of the Danes and

For H.K, the oral route of medication administration was most appropriate, the least invasive and the
easiest way for an adult to take drugs (Brophy et al, 2011). Advil cold and sinus is not a cytochrome
P450 system inhibitor, which is the main (or partial) cause for large differences in the
pharmacokinetics of other drugs (Rx Files, 2012, Epocrates, 2013). The patient was not taking
borrowed prescriptions, using drugs from previous occurrences of the condition, or experiencing any
adverse drug events/reactions to Advil cold and sinus. Also, he was not being double dosed or
experiencing therapeutic duplication of drugs belonging to the same pharmaceutical class. H.K had no
untreated medical conditions (other than his new acute sinusitis), was not taking drugs prescribed by

patients with acute bacterial sinusitis as defined by a complete history and physical examination

of differentiating bacterial sinusitis from a viral respiratory tract infection (Desrosiers et al., 2011).
Initiation of treatment should take place 7 to 10 days after persistent symptoms or when signs
compatible with acute sinusitis occur (Desrosiers et al., 2011). Since H.K s

Essay On A Streetcar Named Desire
Have you seen the plays Skin of Our Teeth, Home of the Brave, All My Sons, or Lost in the Stars?
Probably not. Why is it that today, it is still common to hear references to Stanley s STELL
LAHHHHH in a Streetcar Named Desire, while few other plays of the 1940s remain relevant? First,
Streetcar dared to delve into sensitive social topics, from mental illness to homosexuality to addiction,
and even mortality. Tennessee Williams story of a young couple, Stanley and Stella, whose seemingly
happy marriage is disrupted when Stella s sister, Blanche, comes to town and brings her disastrous
history with her, has captivated audiences throughout time with its highly developed characters,
thoughtful stage directions, and intense dialogue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Blanche and Stanley, masculinity is defined purely by forceful actions and sexuality. Societal
pressures on men forced Stanley to grow up with little ability to express himself without the use of
force and a constant urge to display and promote his sexual prowess. Through the character of Stanley,
Williams highlights the pressure men feel to be aggressive and active in sex.
On the contrary, the expectations and double standards of society pressure Blanche to behave
prudently and conservatively, against her nature. Blanche admits to Stella the pressure she feels to
appear demure when she shares, It isn t enough to be soft. You ve got to be soft and attractive. And I I
m fading now! I don t know how much longer I can turn the trick (92). Throughout Blanche s stay
with her sister, it becomes apparent that though she desperately attempts to appear a quintessential
southern belle, it goes against her truest nature.
Beyond admitting she feels pressure to behave modestly, Blanche also lies about her alcohol use,
sexual past, and potential suitors. Her attempts to conceal her inappropriate behaviors make further
evident the pressure she feels to appear as dainty, pure and desirable as possible. After insisting to
Mitch that the stories about her are nothing but rumors, Blanche momentarily admits, Yes, I had many

Faretta V. California Case Study
The United States Constitution sets forth that the Sixth Amendment assures that in all criminal
tribunals, the defendant shall enjoy the right to have the assistance of counsel for his defense. In
addition to the right to counsel, the Sixth Amendment guarantees the right to waive assistance of
counsel and the right to conduct one s own defense. The Faretta v. California case set aside a
conviction because Faretta was convicted after the trial court proceedings which forced him to accept
a public defender. Now that an overview of the Sixth Amendments Right to Counsel has been briefed,
the next section will focus on problems with the sixth amendment of right to counsel as it pertains to
defendants with disabilities or indignities.

The problem with the Sixth Amendment under the Supreme Court s jurisprudence regarding waiver of
counsel needs to be refurbished. The initial stance that was introduced in Godinez v. Moran was too
low for a defendant to conduct his/her defense. Issues were raised because defendants are supposed to
adopt the right of self representation knowing and intelligently that he/she can in fact represent
himself effectively in a court of law. With that being said, before a defendant accept a waiver of the
right to counsel, the judge must first and foremost ensure that the defendant is mentally competent to
make such a decision to represent himself and that such decision has been knowingly, intelligently,
and voluntarily (Slogan, 2008). The Constitution does not allow trial to be conducted of defendants
who lack mental competence process (Indiana v. Edwards). The next topic that will be highlighted on
is how the United States Supreme Court took steps to correct such a

Bone Loss Analysis Essay
In addition to DXA, quantitative computed tomography (QCT) has also been developed to quantify
bone mineral content and to assess bone loss (29). The main advantage of this technique is that
cancellous bone can be exam¬ined separately from cortical bone (30). In particular, in QCT a thin
transverse slice through the body is imaged: the image can be segmented to give a quantitative
mea¬sure of volumetric BMD (unlike DXA) of vertebrae, as¬sessing the cancellous bone
independently of surround¬ing cortical bone and possible aortic calcifications (31). QCT can be
performed to the spine (usually two to four vertebrae between T12 and L4 inclusive) on conven¬tional
whole body CT scanners, or to the appendicular skeleton at peripheral sites (radius, tibia) using
smaller, less expensive, dedicated peripheral CT scanners (pQCT). In QCT ... Show more content on

However, although this technique has important ad¬vantages over DXA, it has also disadvantages,
some of which are common to DXA. First, it has been shown that BMD values depend on the bone
marrow composi¬tion: this factor could provide an underestimation of bone mineral content values.
Second, the radiation dose induced by a QCT scan of a hip is significantly higher than that of DXA (1
mSv vs 10 μSv), which limits the applicability of the technique not only for screening but also for
standard diagnostics (36). In addition, this technique has difficulties with quality control, high cost
compared with DXA, necessity of well trained technicians for scan execution (37). For the clinical use
of QCT and pQCT in the man¬agement of osteoporosis, the International Society for Clinical
Densitometry (ISCD) published its official posi¬tion in 2008 stating that QCT of spine and pQCT of
radius predict vertebral and hip fractures, respectively, in post menopausal women

Jurassic Park Essay
Jurassic Park
The story of Jurassic Park was written about fourteen years ago by a man named Michael Crichton.
His book has now evolved into three movies of Jurassic Park I, II, and III. Steven Speilberg has taken
the story of Crichton is transformed it into one of his action packed, suspense thrillers.
The first main theme that makes the story of Jurassic Park is its setting. The setting is a huge factor in
the understanding of the story. The story takes place on an isolated island off the coast of Costa Rica
that has become a theme park exhibiting prehistoric dinosaurs. Here dinosaurs roam unrestricted. The
only restraint they have were gates and fences that could easily be knocked down by the gigantic
animals.

The turning point in both the movie and the book is when the storm comes. A huge hurricane is going
to hit the island dead on. There is nothing the people could do except wait it through. The storm is
more massive then anyone expected and it knocks out the power to the whole island. This is the point
at which the book and movie differ again.
The book tells that the storm knocks out all the power to the island and to all the electrical gates. This
is a major problem for the scientists. This puts their safety in jeopardy. There is now nothing
protecting the people from the dinosaurs because there is no power going through the electric fences.
This is when all hell breaks loose. The dinosaurs realize that they are not being restrained any more
and break loose. They are roaming about the island while the scientists scramble to get the power back
on through a generator. During all the chaos the dinosaurs have already taken out five people out of
the team of ten.
The movie differs a little bit from the book at this point. During the storm all of the scientists go out to
try to get the power back on and to try to stay alive. Raptors have raided the lab and center of the park
and are hungry for some people. The raptors and other dinosaurs take out three people out of the team
of ten in the movie. Like the book the people scramble to get the power on but decide to start running
too. Now in both the movie

Lactose Lab Report
Abstract Lactose is recognised as a disaccharide; in other words, it consists of glucose and galactose
and two smaller sugars bound altogether with a covalent bond. In the form described, lactose is
indigestible by us humans; therefore it must be hydrolysed, or broken down, for our body in order to
process it. Lactase catalyses this process by decreasing the energy required for hydrolysis to happen.
Lactase is a digestive enzyme that catalyses the breakdown of lactose, a sugar found in milk. Lactase
works well within a limited range of both pH and temperature in its environment, thus making it
dependent on both elements for it to complete this essential reaction. If lactase is seen as non

Dropout In The United States
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. That s a
student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. 25% of high school freshmen fail to graduate from high
school on time. But this year, as I talked to my fellow seniors about their future plans, I never once
heard, I m not going to college. You see I live in a bubble: the typically white, conservative, well
educated town of Orchard Park, New York. Minority enrolled at my high school is 5%. Students
categorized as Economically Disadvantaged is 7%. The dropout rate is relatively obsolete. Recently
my school was designated a National Blue Ribbon School. But not every high school is like this. Not
every student my age has access to a quality education. Many of my peers, who have just as much
potential as I do, are disadvantaged because of the place they live or their background they come from.
The facts are that the United States is falling behind when it comes to education. According to US

that the United States percent GDP spent on secondary education (3.6%) is among the lowest of

The Possibility Of Integrating Critical Thinking For...
Chapter Two: Investigating the Possibility of Integrating Critical Thinking in English Language
Teaching Introduction Montaigne views that saying is one thing; doing is another thing (qtd. in
Robson 191). This insinuates that what one says might be different from what s/he does, hence the
necessity when enquiring about the possibility of integrating critical thinking in English Language
Teaching. This chapter is devoted to the investigation of the hypothesis of the study, whether critical
thinking could be incorporated in English Language Teaching. This chapter is undertaken with this
spirit, we will start our investigation by introducing the population of the study. Then, we describe,
analyze and interpret the questionnaires results. It will help us confirm or disconfirm our hypotheses
about possible correlation between critical thinking and language teaching. We provide two sections,
first, we deal with the students questionnaire followed by its analysis, and then, we will move to do
the same with teachers questionnaire. 2.1. Methodology 2.1.1. Hypothesis It is worth to reiterate our
research hypothesis: Incorporating the teaching of critical thinking skills may enhance EFL students
mastery of the field, and raise their awareness about their own learning, thereby, they become
autonomous. 2.1.2. Population What is worth being mentioned is that the reason behind opting for
master students to be the case of our study is their level of mastery

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Insurance
Insurance is a transfer of the risk of a loss from one entity to another with the exchange of money.
There are different types of insurance covers, the most popular being the motor insurance, health
insurance, and property insurance, although every cover is important for human beings therefore, to be
covered for all the expenses that could happen throughout his lifetime. Motor insurance is insurance
that is purchased for cars, motorcycles, vans, and other road vehicles. Its primary use is to provide
financial protection against physical damage and bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and
against liability that could also arise. Often drivers are recommended by their government to have a
suitable insurance coverage to certify that damages arise from an accident can be paid for, as in Malta
that the state require drivers to have a minimum of third party cover for their motor vehicle insurance.

everything. You can see how much Spongebob loves Squidward but he always knows to shut
Spongebob out of life. Squidward is more of a matured character because he doesn t goof around like
Spongebob does with his best friend, Patrick. Kind of explains why Squidward is continuously yelling
at him and telling him to grow up.
Spongebob and Squidward (like their personalities) have interest in absolutely two different things.
For example, Spongebob loves his job work as a fry cook as compared to Squidward, who hates the
fact that he even works as a cashier for Mr. Krabs. Spongebob loves to go jellyfishing with Patrick
while Squidward enjoy staying in his house to play his clarinet, Claire. When it comes to food,
Spongebob s favorite food is the Krabby Patty and jelly from jellyfish. Squidward s taste buds are
completely different because he likes the taste of bread in a can.
There are a couple of similarities that Spongebob and Squidward share when you see the two on tv.
Both characters work for Mr. Eugene Krabs, himself. Even though, Squidward hates being around
Spongebob, that s his next

The Frontiers of American History in Last Child of the...
In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been
three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the
Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that
were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown
together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second
phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had
run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Times had been trying
during the Westward Expansion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of
natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature
Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature.
Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research
from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter
especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do
not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter,
he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the
abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is
available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he
draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical
events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these
concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that
Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. This epidemic is not just in big
cities, but wherever technology has a hold. Technology has become

(2) CURRENT MARKETING SITUATION
2.1 MARKET SITUATION
Market Segments:
Restaurant is not a place, which can be assigned to any one category of market, but to be more
efficient in directing the resources to the right target market, for this we have done market
segmentation. According to the given statistical data, we can easily understand why children were
chosen to be the target market:
Between 5 10 years 75% Between 11 18 years 88% Between 19 25 years 28% Between 26 40 years
45% Between 41 onwards 14%
The result of the analysis states that the age group of 5 18 is the best target segment to be focused. The
rest of them are some how related to the above two fields and can be influenced by their demands to
come to the restaurant.
Geographic Segments:
Here we subdivide markets into segments based on geographic distribution the regions, counties, cities
and towns where people live and work. This can be taken out by taking into consideration:
a) Regional population distribution
b) Urban, suburbs and rural distribution

Anorexia And Bulimia Outline
1.) Eating disorders are self critical, negative thoughts and feelings about body weight and food. This
results in eating habits that disrupts normal body function. There are two types of eating disorders,
anorexia and bulimia. Anorexia gives an extreme fear of weight gain and a distorted view of their
body size and shape. Bulimia gives people habitual binge eating and will make them purge. 2.) It is
unsure of what causes eating disorders, but it is suspected that psychological, genetic, social, and
family factors are thought to be a cause. Eating disorders can be prevented by constantly saying I m
fat, complain about exercise, and practice yo yo dieting. This might make your kids feel like a

William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a widely known romantic comedy that was first published in 1623.
Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare s finest works and it tends to have an affinity to modern romantic
comedy films and stories. The play has love triangles, unrequited love, lies and deceit, playful
comedic relief, and obstacles that interfere with characters goals. Many of Shakespeare s plays were
turned into film adaptations and many were used very loosely as source material. Hamlet had Lion
King (very loosely), Romeo and Juliet had Romeo and Juliet (the DiCaprio version), and Twelfth
Night has She s the Man. She s the Man is similar to Twelfth Night in three ways, the plotline, the
names of the characters, and the humor. Despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character names are also very similar, such as how Duke Orsino s character in She s the Man is
also named Duke Orsino, but as a first name and last name instead of a title. Viola s character in She s
the Man is also named Viola, however her disguised character is her brother Sebastian instead of
Cesario. Olivia s character in She s the Man is also named Olivia and so is Sebastian s character in
She s the Man. Sir Andrew and Sir Toby are inserted into the film as Duke s soccer friends instead of
their normal characters but are still in the film.
Despite the general plot being similar, there are numerous differences between the play and the film.
One of those differences is how and why Duke decides that Viola should help him serenade Olivia. In
the play, Duke Orsino is impressed by Cesario and decides that Cesario should send his affections to
Olivia. In the film, Duke had previously seen Sebastian (Viola) with women and because Sebastian
was going to be lab partners with Olivia, Duke made a deal with Sebastian that if Sebastian would
help Duke with Olivia, Duke would help Sebastian make first string on the soccer team. Another
difference is Olivia s reason for mourning. In the play she is mourning the death of her father and
brother while in the film she is trying to get over a previous bad relationship and she did not want to
be hurt again.

Breach of Contract and Remedies
Forms of breach of contract and the remedies that can be used.
Table of contents: Introduction Contracts as a whole Forms of breach of contracts Remedies
Introduction:
As long as human kind can remember contracts has been in the existence. Goods were exchanged in
order to survive. Therefore a contract can be described as an agreement between two (or more) people
where one person offers to do something and another person accepts that offer. So when someone
agrees to sell and another agrees to buy or exchange something for it, they have entered into a
contract.
Contracts as a whole:
You may ask what the requirements for a contract are. There must be an agreement between people

In the case of an obligatio faciendi, positive malperformance occurs when the debtor delivers an
improper or incorrect performance. Example you have paid for a certain DVD machine and on
receiving it, it is not functioning as was promised.
4. Repudiation
It differs from making performance impossible. Repudiation creates relative certainty that eventual
performance will be absent or defective, (we are almost sure that performance will be absent), while
making performance impossible creates absolute certainty that this will happen. In other words
repudiation means turning one`s back on an agreement.
5. Prevention of performance (rendering performance impossible).
Making performance impossible. It s the conduct by either a creditor or a debtor which makes the
delivery of his own or the other party`s performance impossible. This can happen at any time before
performance takes place, even after the date when performance has become due. Because it takes
place before performance, it is also a form of anticipatory breach.
Legal remedies for breach of contract.
One of the parties to the contract is in breach; the other party (the victim or the aggrieved party) is
entitled to a contractual remedy or remedies. When a breach of contract occurs the innocent party
basically has two options: Either to opt for the fulfilment of the contract or

Analysis Of Pretty Woman And The Proposal
Filmmakers have been making romantic comedies since the beginning of the art. The genre includes
light hearted scenes with two beautiful main characters showing their idyllic struggle and journey to
finding their love. The genre, most like most movies are not realistic, but it proves great for escapism
from your stressful everyday life. Romantic comedies, also poorly nicknamed as the chick flick , have
almost sturdy societal gender roles representing the two main characters. One cis male and one cis
female are typically shown. Pretty Woman and The Proposal both show typical conventions seen in
romantic comedies, although The Proposal does a much better job appealing to a modern feminist
audience. The movie appeals to the modern woman by not conforming to the stereotypical gender
roles, not glorifying materialism, and focusing more the two lead characters and their realistic flaws.
The man typically shows dominance and has a higher working status than the woman. This is clearly
shown in Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts is depicted as a low class prostitute who falls
in love with a wealthy businessman, Richard Gere. Many romcoms made in the 90s through 2000s
depicted this basic misogyny, but in the mid 2000s a romcom was released that went against the
standards of most movies in that genre. The Proposal directed by Anne Fletcher shows a powerful
working woman depicted by Sandra Bullock, who forcibly gave her secretary an ultimatum to marry
her when she was

J. Edgar Hoover s Uniform Crime Report (UCR)
Prior to the Department of Justice Appropriation Act of 1908, the Federal Bureau of Investigations
(FBI) was known as the Bureau of Investigations (Peak, 2014). During this time, the agency was
comprised of only thirty five agents and their duties consisted of prosecuting crimes, such as
bankruptcy fraud, anti trust crimes, and crimes on Native American reservations (Peak, 2014).
Nonetheless, throughout World War I the agency found itself under much public scrutiny due to the
increase of espionage and sabotage, and political corruption within the Department of Justice and the
Bureau itself. However, the appointment of J. Edgar Hoover in 1921 ushered the agency into a new
era. Shortly after becoming director, Hoover wanted to turn the agency into a career ... Show more

Special agents were now required to have a college degree preferably in either law or accounting and
also established a new training academy for new recruits (Peak, 2014). Additionally, to combat
corruption, agents were appointed solely on their qualifications and abilities and department
promotions were based on merit (Peak, 2014). Furthermore, Hoover was responsible for the
development and coordination of the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). Currently, the FBI headquarters
is located in Washington D.C., and has continued to grow in size. While the agency was only
comprised of thirty five agents during its conception, the agency has grown quite large. Today the FBI
has fifty six field offices located throughout the U.S., approximately three hundred and sixty resident

Facilitation Reflection
Introduction
Reflecting on my facilitation skills, I am not sure why I found the facilitation exercise so daunting. I
have facilitated therapeutic recreation programs to a senior population, many times without thinking
or worrying about it. However, presenting in front of my TREC 3400 peers, I felt it was an
overwhelming task. I was very anxious even though I facilitated this activity many times.
Facilitating an intervention, during this course, have given me a better understanding of what is
required to be a dynamic facilitator. In this paper, I will look at how recognizing your emotions, your
strengths, and your weaknesses can help maximize your facilitation techniques/skills to become a
better facilitator that provides successful and enjoyable programs to all participants. Intervention,
Purpose, and Goal
I use the reminiscence facilitation technique to achieve the desired outcomes because reminiscence
facilitates social interaction and evokes memories (Dattilo McKenney, 2016). The modality I choose
was Penny Ante which is a fun game that encourages friendship and conversation.
The purpose of this activity is to provide seniors with mild dementia who live in a nursing home the
opportunity to engage in a social activity that encourages self expression to reduce boredom. The
goals and measurable objectives for the intervention are:
During the group discussion, the participant will demonstrate the ability of self expression by recalling
and sharing a personal memory

Essay On The Puritans
The puritans were a religious group made up of people who wanted to purify, the Church of England.
The puritans were activist that wanted to get rid of the catholic system within the church. However,
people in England sought out to remove these groups of people from the area because they saw them
as a threat to their religion. This is how the puritans ended up in Massachusetts Bay Colony. The
puritans moved to this colony in hopes of recreating and ideal community, a utopian society that
others could look up to. The puritans ideal community consisted of peace and partnership; they
wanted to remove all evil and improve the quality of life. The puritans then became strict to ensure
that every person was equivalent in the eyes of God. I think the religion puritans created casted a fear
in other people especially in England because they are so used to being ruled under one king. The ...

The Puritans viewed religious and civil affairs at the same level. They did not separate the two. Even
though the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment stated that church and state were separate,
the Puritans held them close together. The Puritans strict beliefs influenced politics during this time
period. In the early stages of the puritans journey to purification, they opened a new church and slowly
they were evolving into their own beliefs. The puritans wanted to break away from the norms, and
expectations of Christian society. I believed that the puritans had the idea that by creating a new
church, they could essentially purify their life, along with others, and the way the church ruled. The
spiritual belief of the puritans was so strong that it influenced communities, laws and customs. In the
ideal world for the puritans, God is above all. The puritans, I think, wanted to remove the idea of
having a ruler, or dictatorship in control of the people, and their

Family As A Group Of People
When you ask people for their opinion on the definition of a family, the first definition that comes to
mind is the nuclear family. Some people would agree with the notation. However, others have a
different interpretation of the definition. The definition that should describe a family is a group of
people that loves each other and where someone can share their good and bad times. With the
definition of a family being a group of people that cares for each other and can be there in the time of
need, it is opposite of the well known nuclear family. A nuclear family consists of 2 parents and

one of their family members passed away with AIDS and they family was heartbroken. Together, each
family member helped each other out and the aunt built a quilt that has all the objects sewn to the quilt
that represents the child. They help each other out so that person doesn t get lost with grief and
depression from losing a family member. Everyone supports each other and they all pull through the
rough times that life gives to them.
In a family, there are different roles that everybody does. For example, there is always at least on
person caring for the kids in the house. There is someone that cooks the food and cleans the house.
There are adults that are in charge of the house and kids who listens to them and do chores. Usually in
a nuclear family, the mother stays home and cook while the father is the only one that goes outside
and into his company. The children goes to school and stays outside until it is dusk, then coming

that has contrasting traditions than Soto s family. Wanting to be like the whites, Soto is determined to

Ozymandias By Percy Bysshe Shelley, And John Keats
Throughout history, mankind has struggled to find methods of preserving the past, and have come to
two solutions; establishing museums and writing poetry. Unlike poetry, museums only record the basic
events and not individual thoughts, experiences, or emotions. The Romantic poets: William
Wordsworth, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and John Keats have written their poems to reconstruct this
history. Romantic poets concern themselves with memory, antiquity, and re imagining the past. Percy
Bysshe Shelley s Ozymandias is an eighteenth century sonnet, focusing on an ancient statue now set in
ruins. The statue Ozymandias tells his story throughout the poem, having once been the Kings of
Kings is now a colossal Wreck . Moreover, the memory of this statue is its legacy described in the

The documentary Waiting for Superman was both informative and eye opening, as it provided insight
into problems that exist within the public school system and demonstrated how difficult the education
reform has been thus far. Specifically, the director David Guggenheim brought light to the literacy
crisis within in the United States, investigated its many causes, and discussed changes that needed to
be made in order to ensure greater academic success among children in America. While this
documentary may cause great controversy among educators due to the exposure of poor test scores

The Development Ofu.s Copyright Law
The Development of U.S Copyright Law
Simon Cho
The history of U.S copyright law came from England. As a matter of fact, copyright was not intended
to reward creators but to prevent sedition. As the number of presses grew in late fifteenth century in
England, the authorities started to grant control over the publication of books to a group of printers,
called the Stationers Company in mid sixteenth century. The Licensing Act of 1662 confirmed that
licensed printers have the right to publish the work forever. The Stationer s Company didn t disappear
even though the 1662 act lapsed in 1694. Rather, it shifted its focus from printers to authors.
Therefore, the Parliament enacted the first copyright law in 1710, called the Statue of Anne, which
protects author s work if they registered their work to the government. Under the Statue of Anne,
authors had a right to control their creations and sell their rights to the third person. U.S. Congress has
revised the copyright law to broaden the sphere of copyright and to address new technologies as time
goes by. This paper illustrates what have the Congress amended in the copyright law and how has the
amended law impacted proprietors by looking into major revisions in U.S. copyright law. U.S
Congress reviewed its copyright law based on the Statue of Anne in early eighteenth century. The
Congress first exercised its copyright protection with the Copyright Act of 1790, which secure the

Comparing Rap And Country Music Genres
A Comparison of Rap and Country Music Genres
With the release of the single Accidental Racist, by Brad Paisley and LL Cool J, the lines between rap
music and country music officially blurred beyond recognition. Fans of country and rap music
downloaded and purchased the single to see how two completely different genres would blend.
Billboard statistics show that most fans appreciated Paisley and Smith s efforts. Yet hardcore country
and hip hop fans insist that the genres are so different on the musical spectrum that no similarities
could ever exist. However, current popular music is proving this to be untrue to a certain extent. While
rap and country music have many similarities, they differ in terms of lyrical content, use of musical
elements, and target audience. First, the lyrical content of country music is very distinct. Typically
within a country song, the focus of the music is on storytelling. According to the website History of
Country Music, this is one of the primary characteristics of country music. Particularly, it is stated
country music should have a strong storyline (History of Country Music). There are several notable
examples of this sort of musical storytelling; one of which is Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash. He
recounts the saga of a man on the run from the police for the murder of his wife, who finally gets
caught and must accept his punishment in a court of law. The mentioned composition is slightly
atypical of country songs in general

Apple has seemed to always make products which cater to the general public whether its technically
or aesthetically. It appeal within the youth might also contribute to their output power. For example
just the people who purchase Apple products can dictate how much Apple can charge consumers.
Who are the major competitors of this company? Because of the continuously expanding horizons of
Apple, its list of competitors seems to grow more and more as the company moves forward. For
example, other companies in the business of selling personal computers based on different operating
systems have aggressively cut prices and lowered their product margins to gain or maintain market
share. It is widely known that Apple s market share in the digital music industry is far more dominant
compared to any other competitor in that market, hence that shouldn t even be considered a market
where Apple faces fierce competition. We must mention Apple s step into the mobile communications
market with their revolutionary product, the iPhone. Apple faces many well established competitors,
but despite the appeal of their product, they cannot win over the whole market because of its price,
and because of the imitations other competitors make of the iPhone. This essentially reduces Apple s
chance to completely take over the mobile communications market.
What are the core competencies of this company and how are these used to competitive advantage?
Apple is unique in the sense that

The Illusion that Money Brings Happiness
Some would say we are slaves to our primal urges, shackled in our endless pursuit of gratification and
shaping our very existence around them. We gravitate towards the things in life that bring us pleasure,
and recoil from those that cause us pain. People always show a feeling of wanting everything their
way, as to wanting something. Just like everything else there are always limits. In order to obtain these
things that people believe will bring them happiness, many go over the line. Many believe that with
money they can have anything they desire. Though it may be true to an extent, sometimes the desires
eventually turn into greed and people lose some of the most valuable things life has to offer.
Focusing on the illusion that money brings happiness may have an unexpected turn later down the
road. For instance, when someone reflects on how money would change their sense of well being, they
would probably think about spending more time in leisurely pursuits such as traveling abroad. But in
reality, they would have to spend a large amount of time working and less time engaged in
experienced happiness. Robert H. Frank says in his book Luxury Fever: Money and Happiness in an
Era of Excess:
Even among those who can easily afford today s luxury offerings, there has been a price to pay. All of
us rich and poor alike, but especially the rich are spending more time at the office and taking shorter
vacations; we are spending less time with our families and friends; and we have

current ratio have significant positive impact on the financial performance of these cement sector
firms. On the bases of the findings of this study it is suggested that these firm s manager should take
care of its capital structure proxies as it negatively impacting its financial performance. On the bases
of findings, it is also advised that these managers should further improve the mechanism of liquidity.

Language Used By Men And Women
Language plays a strong role in everyday human interactions between individuals. Studies have shown
that the style of language used by men and women vary depending with which sex they are speaking
to. Lakoff (1975) determined that there are specific types of patterns of speech that women use and
coined the term women s language . Lakoff s proposed that women often used among other patterns;
hedges, super polite forms, tag questions, speaking in italics, empty adjectives, hypercorrect grammar
and pronunciation, lack of sense of humor, direct quotations, special lexicon and question intonation
in declarative contexts. However, O Barr and Atkins s (1980) research noted that the sex of the
speaker is insufficient to explain incidence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will show that women s language is indeed used by both men and women and that women are not
the powerless subordinate sex that they were once thought to be.
Jen is a thirty one year old waitress, married mother of a toddler. Cuc is a thirty year old single
accountant. Elaine is a twenty seven year old data analyst and also Chris s girlfriend. Chris is a twenty
nine year old restaurant owner/manager and Johnny is a thirty two year old engaged insurance
agent/broker. These friends have known one another for thirteen years with Elaine being the new
comer, as she is Chris s live in girlfriend for the past two years. Zimmerman and West (1975) states
that the violation of turn taking during a conversation with the intrusion displays dominance and
control (Zimmerman West, 1975, p. 146). During the forty seven minute interaction between the five
individuals there were a total of twenty one interruptions. As further evidence to Zimmerman West s
research, in this study, men do tend to interrupt overall more frequently than women, with 60% of the
interruptions.

Female to male: 3 Male to female: 9
The excerpt below of Chris speaking to his girlfriend demonstrated his power play when he not only
interrupted Elaine, but also used foul language several times. This could be what Zimmerman and
West (1975) describes as the male display of dominance and female display s of submission
(Zimmerman West, 1975, p. 149).

Advantages Of Communism In Animal Farm
Animal Farm: Communism as an Economic System
Orwell presents the basic concepts of communism in an interesting and entertaining manner. In fact,
the fictional Animalism reduplicates communism. Communism makes people free, but restrains them
at the same time; its main idea makes everyone equal, but provides huge privileges for its leaders; and
its command economy provides enough food, but deprives people of choice.
Animalism and communism are two identical concepts with different names. Orwell s representation
of communism as a system is rather specific, and it is similar to the communism in the USSR. First of
all, Animalism fights with the existence of slavery. Thus, animals were like slaves on the farm because
they had to work hard, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, it is forbidden for one of the animals to wear beautiful ribbons though this animal likes
them. By describing this situation, Orwell means the limitations of the planned economy, which is
peculiar to communism. When the government controls all spheres of the economy, the competition
does not exist (Gowans, 2012). Therefore, governmentally controlled factories create similar clothes
for everyone. Another disadvantage of this system is that its leaders claim that everyone is equal, but
they have more benefits than others. Pigs are leaders on the farm, and they start to take the most
delicious food from others and lie that it is necessary. The situation was the same in the communist
system of the USSR: people thought that everyone was equal, and the members of the party ate more
delicious food, had an opportunity to buy exquisite clothes, drank any alcohol beverages they wished,
and had many other privileges (Hignett, 2012). Orwell (1945) mentions another huge disadvantage of
the system: Let us make it a point of honor to get in the harvest more quickly than Jones and his men
could do (p. 10). The author means five year plans in the USSR, which seemed like a competition for
all member states, but turned out to be the inconsiderate usage of the environmental resources (The
five year plans, p.

  • 2. Positives And Negatives Of Consumerism Just what is consumerism, and is it beneficial or detrimental to our economy and society? Basically, consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also argued that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society as a whole. There are flaws in the system of course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are also benefits to it, such as, the creation of new jobs, the growth of businesses, and even a show of patriotism. In essence, consumerism is both a positive and a negative force in the modern world, depending on how it is utilized and portrayed, for example: a person with a positive world value would best consider balancing out their life so they are neither needlessly consuming nor being a minimalist to a ... Now if only he could walk the earth like a man, this would be paradise. The use of birds has been present to most of these books and film adaptations, but one film that had a lot bird like symbols was the film Apocalypse Now. What is the meaning behind this? In the pet store when both Melanie and Mitch were having a conversation, Mitch asked if it was horrible having all the birds in their cages. What is the meaning of the cage in The Birds? Well, the film is trying to suggest that people can be imprisoned by the exclusive nature of love. For example, Melanie mentioned in the conversation that she lives in a gilded cage. Even though she s an heiress, it can be hard to leave the life one inherits. Birds are not the only species caged on their well being. • 12. Bone Loss Analysis Essay In addition to DXA, quantitative computed tomography (QCT) has also been developed to quantify bone mineral content and to assess bone loss (29). The main advantage of this technique is that cancellous bone can be exam¬ined separately from cortical bone (30). In particular, in QCT a thin transverse slice through the body is imaged: the image can be segmented to give a quantitative mea¬sure of volumetric BMD (unlike DXA) of vertebrae, as¬sessing the cancellous bone independently of surround¬ing cortical bone and possible aortic calcifications (31). QCT can be performed to the spine (usually two to four vertebrae between T12 and L4 inclusive) on conven¬tional whole body CT scanners, or to the appendicular skeleton at peripheral sites (radius, tibia) using smaller, less expensive, dedicated peripheral CT scanners (pQCT). Second, the radiation dose induced by a QCT scan of a hip is significantly higher than that of DXA (1 mSv vs 10 μSv), which limits the applicability of the technique not only for screening but also for standard diagnostics (36). In addition, this technique has difficulties with quality control, high cost compared with DXA, necessity of well trained technicians for scan execution (37). This chapter is devoted to the investigation of the hypothesis of the study, whether critical thinking could be incorporated in English Language Teaching. This chapter is undertaken with this spirit, we will start our investigation by introducing the population of the study. Then, we describe, analyze and interpret the questionnaires results. It will help us confirm or disconfirm our hypotheses about possible correlation between critical thinking and language teaching. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature. Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter, he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. • 24. William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a widely known romantic comedy that was first published in 1623. Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare s finest works and it tends to have an affinity to modern romantic comedy films and stories. The play has love triangles, unrequited love, lies and deceit, playful comedic relief, and obstacles that interfere with characters goals. Many of Shakespeare s plays were turned into film adaptations and many were used very loosely as source material. Hamlet had Lion King (very loosely), Romeo and Juliet had Romeo and Juliet (the DiCaprio version), and Twelfth Night has She s the Man. Olivia s character in She s the Man is also named Olivia and so is Sebastian s character in She s the Man. In the play, Duke Orsino is impressed by Cesario and decides that Cesario should send his affections to Olivia. In the film, Duke had previously seen Sebastian (Viola) with women and because Sebastian was going to be lab partners with Olivia, Duke made a deal with Sebastian that if Sebastian would help Duke with Olivia, Duke would help Sebastian make first string on the soccer team. In the case of an obligatio faciendi, positive malperformance occurs when the debtor delivers an improper or incorrect performance. Example you have paid for a certain DVD machine and on receiving it, it is not functioning as was promised. 4. Repudiation It differs from making performance impossible. Repudiation creates relative certainty that eventual performance will be absent or defective, (we are almost sure that performance will be absent), while making performance impossible creates absolute certainty that this will happen. In other words repudiation means turning one`s back on an agreement. 5. Prevention of performance (rendering performance impossible). Making performance impossible. It s the conduct by either a creditor or a debtor which makes the delivery of his own or the other party`s performance impossible. This can happen at any time before performance takes place, even after the date when performance has become due. Because it takes place before performance, it is also a form of anticipatory breach. Legal remedies for breach of contract. One of the parties to the contract is in breach; the other party (the victim or the aggrieved party) is entitled to a contractual remedy or remedies. • 27. Analysis Of Pretty Woman And The Proposal Filmmakers have been making romantic comedies since the beginning of the art. The genre includes light hearted scenes with two beautiful main characters showing their idyllic struggle and journey to finding their love. The genre, most like most movies are not realistic, but it proves great for escapism from your stressful everyday life. Romantic comedies, also poorly nicknamed as the chick flick , have almost sturdy societal gender roles representing the two main characters. One cis male and one cis female are typically shown. Pretty Woman and The Proposal both show typical conventions seen in romantic comedies, although The Proposal does a much better job appealing to a modern feminist audience. The movie appeals to the modern woman by not conforming to the stereotypical gender roles, not glorifying materialism, and focusing more the two lead characters and their realistic flaws. The man typically shows dominance and has a higher working status than the woman. This is clearly shown in Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts is depicted as a low class prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy businessman, Richard Gere. Many romcoms made in the 90s through 2000s depicted this basic misogyny, but in the mid 2000s a romcom was released that went against the standards of most movies in that genre. The Proposal directed by Anne Fletcher shows a powerful working woman depicted by Sandra Bullock, who forcibly gave her secretary an ultimatum to marry her when she was ... As a matter of fact, copyright was not intended to reward creators but to prevent sedition. As the number of presses grew in late fifteenth century in England, the authorities started to grant control over the publication of books to a group of printers, called the Stationers Company in mid sixteenth century. The Licensing Act of 1662 confirmed that licensed printers have the right to publish the work forever. The Stationer s Company didn t disappear even though the 1662 act lapsed in 1694. Rather, it shifted its focus from printers to authors. Therefore, the Parliament enacted the first copyright law in 1710, called the Statue of Anne, which protects author s work if they registered their work to the government. We gravitate towards the things in life that bring us pleasure, and recoil from those that cause us pain. People always show a feeling of wanting everything their way, as to wanting something. Just like everything else there are always limits. In order to obtain these things that people believe will bring them happiness, many go over the line. Many believe that with money they can have anything they desire. Though it may be true to an extent, sometimes the desires eventually turn into greed and people lose some of the most valuable things life has to offer. Focusing on the illusion that money brings happiness may have an unexpected turn later down the road. For instance, when someone reflects on how money would change their sense of well being, they would probably think about spending more time in leisurely pursuits such as traveling abroad. But in reality, they would have to spend a large amount of time working and less time engaged in experienced happiness. Robert H. Frank says in his book Luxury Fever: Money and Happiness in an Era of Excess: Even among those who can easily afford today s luxury offerings, there has been a price to pay. All of us rich and poor alike, but especially the rich are spending more time at the office and taking shorter vacations; we are spending less time with our families and friends; and we have ... • 46. Advantages Of Communism In Animal Farm Animal Farm: Communism as an Economic System Orwell presents the basic concepts of communism in an interesting and entertaining manner. In fact, the fictional Animalism reduplicates communism. Communism makes people free, but restrains them at the same time; its main idea makes everyone equal, but provides huge privileges for its leaders; and its command economy provides enough food, but deprives people of choice. Animalism and communism are two identical concepts with different names. Orwell s representation of communism as a system is rather specific, and it is similar to the communism in the USSR. First of all, Animalism fights with the existence of slavery. Thus, animals were like slaves on the farm because they had to work hard, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, it is forbidden for one of the animals to wear beautiful ribbons though this animal likes them. By describing this situation, Orwell means the limitations of the planned economy, which is peculiar to communism. When the government controls all spheres of the economy, the competition does not exist (Gowans, 2012). Therefore, governmentally controlled factories create similar clothes for everyone. Another disadvantage of this system is that its leaders claim that everyone is equal, but they have more benefits than others. Pigs are leaders on the farm, and they start to take the most delicious food from others and lie that it is necessary. The situation was the same in the communist system of the USSR: people thought that everyone was equal, and the members of the party ate more delicious food, had an opportunity to buy exquisite clothes, drank any alcohol beverages they wished, and had many other privileges (Hignett, 2012). Orwell (1945) mentions another huge disadvantage of the system: Let us make it a point of honor to get in the harvest more quickly than Jones and his men could do (p. 10). The author means five year plans in the USSR, which seemed like a competition for all member states, but turned out to be the inconsiderate usage of the environmental resources (The five year plans, p. ...
