Aerodynamics of Planes Essay
Aerodynamics of Planes Ever since I was little I was amazed at the ability for a machine to fly. I have
always wanted to explore ideas of flight and be able to actually fly. I think I may have found my
childhood fantasy in the world of aeronautical engineering. The object of my paper is to give me more
insight on my future career as an aeronautical engineer. This paper was also to give me ideas of the
physics of flight and be to apply those physics of flight to compete in a high school competition.
History of Flight The history of flying dates back as early as the fifteenth century. A Renaissance man
named Leonardo da Vinci introduced a flying machine known as the ornithopter. Da Vinci proposed
the idea of a machine that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Towards the end of the War the airplane becomes a practical device of war being able to carry
weapons. Anthony Fokker and Louis Bleriot create the most successful of early modern biplanes
known as the D VII and D VIII. Biplanes are eventually taken over by the monoplane, or one wing.
This new design allowed for faster flight and better visibility for the pilot. Air cooled engines lead the
way for commercial aircraft, and Boeing introduces the first modern airliner the 247. Airplanes are
effected the greatest by supply and demand of war. New styles of war begun to emerge so did new and
improved types of aircraft. The population of the U.S. also begun to grow which leads to the modern
most sophisticated commercial airliner the 777. Most aircraft improvements are found in the military
and intelligence field. The most high tech aircraft known today for such things as spying are the SR 71
Blackbird, and the U 2 Spy plane. The most complicated and best aircraft performance is still held by
the space shuttle and probably always will be. The last 200 years have seen incredible changes in
aircraft from the man with wings to heavier than air flying machines that can travel at supersonic
speeds. Lift Every single part of an aircraft is incredibly important, without a piece of the airplane it
just wouldn t fly. If there had to be a most important part of the aircraft, it would mostly likely have to
be the wing. The wing allows a heavier

Margaret Cavendish Called The Blazing World Summary
The Superiority Complex of Mankind Margaret Cavendish s The Description of a New World, Called
The Blazing World, is a 17th century work of prose fiction that represents a satirical, utopian kingdom
within a different world ( Margaret Cavendish, The Duchess of Newcastle. ). A young woman from
Earth enters this new world, meeting a society composed of various species of talking animals; these
hybrid animals from The Blazing World illustrate the readers understanding of the relationship
between humans and nature. In representing hybrid creatures as figures of knowledge and peaceful
coexistence, Cavendish addresses the damaging history of the superiority complex in fictional
literature. As a result, these cross species are seen as equal to ... Show more content on

In this way, Cavendish is able to create an equality between animals and the human species; by pulling
them together in her fictional story through a common interest of science and arts it minimizes the
growing gap between their value in the real society. This conception of animals as equally exceptional
to humans in some respects is explored in The Well ordered Universe: The Philosophy of Margaret
Cavendish, she comments that animals may display greater knowledge in certain areas compared to
humans, despite the assumption by most natural philosophers that cognitively speaking, man doth
excel all other animals (Hayden, 108). In Cavendish s Philosophy, she writes, For what man knows,
whether fish do not know more of the nature of water, and ebbing and flowing, and the saltness of the
sea? Or whether birds do not know more of the nature and degrees of air, or the cause of tempests? Or
whether worms do not know more of the nature of earth, and how plants are produced? Or bees of the
several sorts of juices of flowers, than men? (Boyle,

Antony And Cleopatra Research Paper
In the year 51 B.C. Cleopatra became queen when she was 18 years old. She ruled with her brother
Ptolemy XIII, who was only 10 years old and not old enough to rule by himself. She also became his
wife, which was a formality because of his age. Cleopatra was strong willed and ambitious. She
wanted to bring her county to the glory of its former days. However Ptolemy s advisers drove
Cleopatra out of Egypt by the time she was 20 years old.
Cleopatra was determined to fight for the throne, so she made an army in Syria and prepared to go to
war against her brother. However, before the battle could begin it was interrupted by the arrival of
Julius Caesar the most powerful man in all of Rome. He was pursuing his defeated rival in a Roman
Civil war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some time later one of Octavian s men came to the door to speak with the queen, trying to persuade
her to come out. While she was distracted by this conversation, Octavian s men brought a ladder
around to the very window through which Antony had been carried. Once inside, they rushed down
the stairs and took her captive.
Octavian allowed Cleopatra to give Antony a lavish funeral, as befitted a king. Then he ordered her to
make ready for a voyage to Rome. She knew what would happen to her there. Cleopatra would be the
highlight of Octavian s triumphal parade. She would be led in chains through the streets of Rome
where the crowd would mock and curse her.
She returned to her room and washed up after she enjoyed a sumptuous meal. It was her last. A
peasant arrived with a basket of figs for the queen. The guard commented agreeably on how large and
fine the figs were the man laughed and offered him some, but they declined, so he took them to

Comparing Dziga Vertov s Film, Man with a Movie Camera...
Comparing Dziga Vertov s Film, Man with a Movie Camera and Run Lola Run
The main and essential thing is : the sensory exploration of the world through film. We therefore take
as a point of departure the use of the camera as a keno eye, more perfect than the human eye, for the
exploration of the chaos of visual phenomena that fills space.
Dziga Vertov , Manifesto The Council of Three (1923)
The innovative theories and filmmaking techniques of Dziga Vertov revolutionized the way films are
made today. Man With a Movie Camera (1929), a documentary that represented the peak of the Soviet
avant garde film movement in the twenties, displayed techniques in montage, creative camera angles,
rich imagery, but most importantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(41 Vertov)
His original ways of thinking, isolated him from all other filmmakers. Even his style of using montage
(editing style commonly used by Soviet directors) in Man with a Movie Camera was very different. In
this film, hours of footage are edited together in many cuts, which is the style that Vertov is well
known for. His cuts are very rapid and he displays them accordingly to music to add excitement to the
sequence. The sequences act on all three levels of montage: narrative, intellectual, and emotional. For
example in the beginning of Man with a Movie Camera, there is a sequence in a theatre where the
cameraman sets up the film for the audience to watch (appendix 1). The lights come on, the seats go
down, the cameraman sets up the projector, the audience enters, the lights dim, the orchestra awaits
and then the manifest begins. The narration comes from the editor throughout the whole film. The
cameraman cannot possibly be the narrator since he is randomly out of frame and it is a silent film.
From the very beginning... the centrality of the cameraman s vision is put into question, since he

How Does Lee Use Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird
False Justice She ran up to me, arms flailing at her sides. Her face was streaked with tears. She tripped
and tumbled as her six years old feet raced towards me. The little girl collapsed into my arms, her
tears slowing down. She doesn t need to be asked, for she tells me immediately: They think Donald
Trump will hurt me! I glare at the sneering boys, then look down at her dark, pretty face.
Discrimination is a terrible flaw in American society. Although those who are discriminated against
are victims of bias, a small portion of people learn to see through the lies and acknowledge the wrong,
as presented in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird and Maya Angelou s Still I Rise. Ms. Angelou
tackles the issues explicitly, while Scout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harper Lee is careful with her word choice to create a heavy tone in the verdict scene: ...Mr.Jem, I ain
t ever seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man (238). The purpose of this
dialogue between Reverend Sykes and Jem is to foreshadow the wrongful outcome. While Scout is
waiting for the verdict, she thinks to herself I had never seen a packed courtroom so still (238). This
line builds suspense within the scene. The reader can visualize a room full of people holding their
breath. A jury never looks at a defendant it has convicted...none of them looked at Tom Robinson
(240). With this line, the reader knows that the jury has gone against rightful morals, convicting an
innocent man. This line further insinuates the focal point of the scene: color can dictate your fate, even
when you ve done nothing unlawful. In Still I Rise, Ms.Angelou uses action verbs to set an upfront
tone in the poem. ...shoot me with you words (21). The strong connotation of the word shoot contrasts
with words as words are not meant to be tangible weapons. Lines in the poem that reflect such a
contrast as well are ...cut me with your eyes (22) and ...kill me with your hatefulness (23). These lines
are essential to the overall poem, as they help the reader understand the extent of which Maya
Angelou fights the status quo. Both authors have a different approach to set up the tone of a scene or
poem:

they peak in the early to mid adolescence age. Migraines rates were observed for a year and the results
showed the prevalence of migraines being 11% overall, 6% among men and 15 18% in
women(Stewart WF, Lipton RB, Celentano DD, Reed ML, 1992). Although prevalence of migraine is

compared to migraine attacks other times of the month (Headache Classification Subcommittee of the
International Headache Society, 2004). The International Headache Society characterizes menstrual
migraines as ones that occur without aura but they may also occur with aura.
Migraine without Aura
These migraines last as long 4 72 hours. They are characterized by one sided location, moderate to
severe pain strength, pulsating or provoked by routine physical activity. They are associated with at
least 2 of the following: nausea, vomiting, photophobia (sensitivity to light), phonophobia(fear of loud

Impact Of Imperialism In Korea
Japanese Imperialism in Korea and Korea s Police/Military Era As I stood on a mountain pass, looking
down on the valley leading to Inch Con, I recalled these words of my friend. The Ôstrong hand of
Japan was certainly being shown here. I beheld in front of me village after village reduced to ashes.
Destruction, thorough and complete, had fallen upon it. Not a single house was left, and not a single
wall of a house. (F.A Mackenzie). Japan did many brutal and harsh things while colonizing Korea.
Imperialism is when another nation forcefully takes control of another nation. In the 19th and 20th
century, many European powers were trying to get colonies in countries in Africa and Asia. In order to
do so, they needed to imperialize countries. Japan was the first Asian nation to defeat western
countries trying to imperialize them. During the 1900 s, Japan ... Show more content on

1906, all of the Korean landlords became tenant farmers overnight. Inversely, all the Japanese farmers

Japanese farmers were at a great advantage. After that, many Japanese farmers immigrated to Korea to

The Niger Delta Region
The Niger Delta Region of Nigeria produces a significant portion of the combined oil wealth of
Nigeria. Since 1956 when oil was first struck in Oloibiri in Southern Nigeria, the Niger Delta region
has accounted for over 90 per cent of Nigeria s oil income; however, the region has continually
suffered from environmental neglect, disintegrating infrastructures, high rate of unemployment, social
deprivation, abject poverty and widespread conflict. There have been incessant calls for the multi
national corporations( MNCs ) operating in the area to demonstrate the value of their investments to
Nigeria by undertaking increased corporate social responsibility( CSR ) initiatives that provide for
environmental friendly practices as well as direct social benefits such as local employment, new
infrastructure, schools and improved health care delivery. In addition, the Nigerian regulatory
measures enforcing the adoption of codes and conduct of CSR policies by these companies, their
reporting practices and interaction with leading CSR institutions have either been non existent or
inadequately formulated and have therefore failed the entire population. The existing legal frame work
needs to be reformulated into one which is fit for purpose. The is a dire need for an effective,

current perilous state of the region in particular and the country in general.

The Surrealist Movement During World War One
The Surrealist Movement
World War 1 was a gruesome point in history that led to immense carnage and anguish of millions.
However, on a happier note, this dark time was followed by movements such as Cubism,
Precisionism, and Expressionism. Among these movements existed Surrealism, a movement that
would not have come to be without the influence of the war to end all wars .
During World War 1 at the city of Nantes one would find a man named André Breton (Sandrow).
André Breton, born in 1896, is regarded as the founder of Surrealism, and the way his time was spent
during the war influenced that outcome. For instance, during his time at Nantes, he encountered a few
people that would leave a lasting impression on him. One of these people went by the name of
Apollinaire, an admired poet dramatist and the precursor to Surrealism. He pushed Breton away from
pessimism towards investigating the philosophical relationship between poetry and painting. In fact,
the word surrealism was first coined by Apollinaire in his play Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Magill 448).
André Breton served as a doctor during the war. More specifically, he worked in the Neuropsychiatric
ward. He dealt with with the shell shocked and the deranged. From the constant contact with these

How To Evaluate New Orleans And Hurricane Katrina
Evaluating New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina
I. Introduction Of the several natural disasters that humanity has faced, Hurricane Katrina was one of
the deadliest; it caused a depressingly high death toll of 1,833. In addition to taking human lives,
Katrina caused massive economic destruction. In fact, it s the costliest natural disaster in US history
with damage worth $108 billion. In order to impart destruction of such magnitude, Katrina had to be
fearfully strong. The intensity of a hurricane is usually based on classification according to the Saffir
Simpson hurricane wind scale. This scale categorizes hurricanes by their maximum sustained winds
ranging from Category 1 to Category 5. When it comes to Hurricane Katrina, it s no surprise that it
was rated as a Category 5 hurricane. To get a feel for how strong such a hurricane might be, it s
important to know that Category 5 hurricanes have sustained winds greater than 157 mph. In
comparison, Katrina s highest sustained winds were calculated to be 175 mph. ... Show more content

Unfortunately, the challenges that result from hurricanes are multifaceted. When large bodies of water
surround the area of impact, flooding becomes an additional cause for concern. For the city of New

task was, by no means, easy. The storm surge that resulted from Katrina s wrath was 20 ft high.
Instead of the expected outcome of holding back floodwaters, many of the levees failed miserably.

The Symbols Of Mother Nature

The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent upon it, can still ripen a bunch of
grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do. Galileo Galilei (1564 1642), the Italian physicist,
mathematician, astronomer and philosopher
From ancient mythologies to recent religions, Mother Nature is eternally the point of origin. She is the
source of creation. Figures and symbols of women representing mother earth and Mother Nature are
timeless. In ancient times, goddesses were the symbol for fertility, hospitality and life saver. The
Nature that cradles us is so ancient and so new. It is so marvelous and yet so simple. Her beauty and

Nature teaches us not only to love fellow human beings but also all beings on earth; all beings are the

the integrity, the unity, the oneness. By imbuing ourselves with its loveliness, nature refines our

like holier love between brother and sister, friends and societies and universal brotherhood. Our love
owed much of its strength to the common love for nature, a feeling so moving and so universal.

other aspects of their culture. I believe that equal treatment for women and men is a fundamental
principal of international human rights standards. Yet, in some places like Iran, discriminatory

Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the
supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has
become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam
Hussein have been garnered with the term evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it
seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others on a
massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time the Elizabethan era evil had a similar, but
somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English

s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of Claudius as a king of shreds and

in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant action on Hamlet s part. So effective is
Claudius manipulation of the royal circle that he manages to almost permanently stay the revelation of

A Note On Macro, Micro Evolution There Is Important For...
First off, when talk about macro, micro evolution there is much falsehood about these two words, but,
understanding them is maybe the vital essential for comprehension the creation or development issue.
Macroevolution alludes to major developmental changes after some time, the inception of new sorts of
creatures from beforehand existing, yet distinctive, tribal sorts. On the other hand, Microevolution
alludes to assortments inside of a given sort. Change happens inside of a gathering, however the
relative is unmistakably of the same sort as the precursor.
According to Berkeley.edu, Macroevolution generally refers to evolution above the species level. So
instead of focusing on an individual beetle species, a macroevolutionary lens might require that we
zoom out on the tree of life, to assess the diversity of the entire beetle clade and its position on the
tree. Macroevolution includes the most amazing patterns and changes in development, for example,
the beginning of warm blooded animals and the radiation of blooming plants. Macro evolutionary
examples are by and large what we see when we take a gander at the substantial scale history of life. It
is not as a matter of course simple to see macro evolutionary history; there are no firsthand records to
be perused. Rather, we reproduce the historical backdrop of life utilizing all accessible confirmation:
geography, fossils, and living beings.

How Does Frost Use Symbols In Robert Frost
Frost first illustrates the use of symbolism through the bending of the birches in order to allude to a
freedom from reality. In this manner, he begins by imagining that the shapes and bends of the birch
trees were caused by a young boy climbing and swinging gleefully upon the trunks; as he once did.
This moment of nostalgia allows him to reflect to his childhood, wistfully wishing to return to a more
carefree time where he too was a kicker of branches. To emphasize this idea, he goes on to compare
the climbing of the thick wood trunks, to attempting to reach up towards heaven. As a result of this,
Frost desperately wishes to escape from the ground, and in a sense, the real world.
In spite of this, his wistful thinking is broken when he

Comparing IlĂșvatar In The Silmarillion And Lord Of The Rings
In Tolkien s book The Silmarillion, the themes of IlĂșvatar are reminiscent throughout the Lord of the
Rings trilogy. Those who go against the themes of IlĂșvatar are much like someone who might have an
instrument that is off tune in an orchestra; at first the one instruments sound may stand out, but
overtime it would be overwhelmed and drowned out by the rest of the orchestra. Those who create
discord in IlĂșvatar s themes are given opportunity to return to good before they become separated
from him (or become evil). In Tolkien s work, evil is given the upper hand and is more powerful than
the forces of good. This is evident in both Melkor s and Saruman s stories. Evil characters in the
novels, are those who seek to further their own power and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Through the resisting of furthering personal power and growing in compassion and wisdom, both

initially more powerful than good, Melkor and Saruman are eventually beaten because of their lust for
power and there constant failure to follow the will of IlĂșvatar. Melkor and Saruman look to wisdom to
gain more power and ultimately lead to their own downfall as they restrict their wisdom to only

The Ethics Of The Corporate Veil
Introduction
The corporate veil is a term that refers to the concept of treating a corporation as a separate legal entity
from its shareholders and thus bestowing upon it separate rights, obligations and liabilities. In the
landmark case of Salomon v Salomon, the court stated that the liability of company shareholders is
limited only to the extent of their capital contributions. The court also explained that since companies
are separate legal entities from shareholders, they are separately liable for debt and obligatory
responsibilities.
However, there have been special circumstances where English courts have found it necessary to lift
the corporate veil for the sake of delivering justice. Although such instances are rare, the possibility of
lifting the corporate veil has generated controversy. Such controversy primarily revolves around the
uncertainty of circumstances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary. This paper provides a
critical analysis of instances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary. The analysis applies
examples and evidence from English case law, statutes and other applicable legal principles.
Lifting the corporate veil
Fraud (avoiding existing obligations)
The most prominent instance in which English courts allow lifting of the corporate veil is when
individuals establish companies to commit fraud. Fraud, in this case, means avoidance of existing
obligations resultant of contracts or legal provisions. The Salomon case is

How Does Mark Twain Use Irony In The Celebrated Jumping Frog
Mark Twain, a famous writer, wrote a brilliant, humorous story called The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. He includes implausibility throughout the short story to
incorporate his humor. In one passage, there is a bull pup named Andrew Jackson who is
anthropomorphized. The dog displays human characteristics that would not actually be possible in
reality. Twain uses implausibility in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County in many
passages by introducing plenty of examples of anthropomorphism and irony. Dogs are like humans in
some ways. They have feelings, they eat and drink, they feel pain, etc. However, dogs minds are not as
advanced as the human mind. They cannot express how they feel, they cannot act surprised or

Android Phones versus iPhones
There is a running joke in the geeky realm of our society that says there are two types of people in the
world, those who use iPhones and those who use Androids. Most of the time, people either love or
hate either gadget, there isn t much room to have mediocre feelings towards these devices. They are
both amazing handheld devices, which perform a multitude of tasks. They guide us, entertain us, teach
us, organize us, the list can go on and on. The Android and iPhone are two very comparative devices
that many of us use on a daily basis. Although they have very similar functions and features, the two
are quite different in how they operate, and what permissions they allow the user to have. First, I
would like to explain to you what an operating system is. I will be using the term, operating system,
throughout this essay and many people do not have a clear understanding of what it is. Simply put, an
operating system is the brain of any computer or electronic device. The operating system is a bundle
of information that directs all the operations that a computer does in order to function properly. The
operating system sends information to and from communication resources of applications that you use
or your device uses. When the geniuses of Silicon Valley were discovering how to create a system that
would allow for multiple applications to be used, they gave birth to the operating system. This very
basic system was called Linux. Linux is the most fundamental base of an

Instructions For Creating A Voice Narrated Powerpoint
Instructions on How to Create a Voice Narrated PowerPoint
Introduction
This report provides step by step instructions for eighth grade students on how to create a voice
narrated PowerPoint with slides that advance automatically for Windows users.
Creating a PowerPoint is a computer process in which the user uses the Microsoft Word PowerPoint
feature to create a presentation.
Knowing how to create a PowerPoint presentation with slides that advance automatically and are
voice narrated is a beneficial process to know as a student. Creating PowerPoint presentations is a
process students will go through throughout the course of their schooling, and they may possibly use
this process after schooling depending on their career. Using PowerPoint is helpful for both the
presenter and the person viewing the presentation. Presentations provide a way for people who are
visual learners, or people who prefer viewing images and viewing words, as well as audio learners,
people who prefer hearing discussions, a more effective way to learn. According to Wendy Corbett,
who is certified in designing learning, When you use both words and pictures, you are actively
engaging both working and long term memory (Corbett, 2015, p.66). This means that using learning
or teaching tools that provide both discussion and a visual allows the viewers to actively use their
memory, which will in turn aid in the viewer remembering what the presentation was about. As a
presenter, using PowerPoint

Cracker Barrel Research Paper
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. was founded in 1969 by Dan Evins in his home town of
Lebanon, Tennessee. The first stores were conjoined with gas stations and strategically placed along
the highway routes to attract travelers. In 1973, the Arab Petroleum Embargo began and by its end in
March 1974, oil prices had dramatically increased from $3 to nearly $12 per barrel. As a result, only
five short years after its inception, Cracker Barrel discontinued its gas stations and concentrated solely
on the restaurant and country store aspects of the store s design. Cracker Barrel proclaims itself to be a
home away from home by sticking with a southern theme. Each restaurant has an old country store
attached that sells items sometimes native to the specific stores locations. The company still maintains
the traditions it has held since the beginning such as fireplaces and placing a peg game on each table.
Although tradition has become somewhat of a trademark of Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores, Inc.,

Example Of Bravery In Beowulf
Theme is the matter of a subject within a piece of writing. Throughout this essay examples of
mesopotamian literature, old english poetry and ancient greek literature are brought up. The central
theme throughout all these epics is bravery. I chose bravery because each one of these characters risks
their lives to save others. The ability to take on life threatening battles is an extreme form of bravery.

The United States Taxation System
A Rather Taxing Matter The United States taxation system has had a longstanding debate regarding
whether or not the taxes implicated on American citizens are justified. In general, the rates that
citizens must pay are both too high for the lower classes to have to pay, and too low for the upper
classes to have to pay. Much of the money collected from taxation goes into causes of less importance
or is not managed correctly by the U.S. government. Among all of the fifty states, there are several
philosophies accepted by each, which leads to a fluctuation in tax rates. American citizens are unfairly
taxed by the U.S. government; therefore, the tax system must undergo a tax reform. The primary goal
of the U.S. tax system is to collect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The essence of Jennings and Zott s argument is that the government brings in sufficient amounts of
money in order to cover its expenses. The amount of money the government spends annually is
roughly two trillion dollars, and they collect roughly the same amount. Individual income taxes are the
government s largest source of revenue; accounting for almost forty two percent of its intake. Social
insurance taxes account for almost forty percent. The money from just two sectors of the tax chart
account for a little over eighty percent of the money that the government collects. The rest is received
through corporate income taxes and other smaller taxes such as the gas tax, sales tax, and cigarette tax.
The middle and lower classes suffer from the unfair tax rates. Studies show that people of the lower
class often pay an average of eleven percent of his or her income to taxes. Those people in the middle
class range pay around ten percent in taxes. The astonishing discovery is that on average, people in the
upper one percent often only pay about six percent of their income to taxes. Through this, one can see
that there is clearly something wrong with the way in which the government taxes American citizens.
The current taxes put a strain on the lower classes; meanwhile, helping the upper classes increase their
wealth.

After Mabel passed away, the two boys, J.R.R. and Hillary, would become orphans. After that a young

(Tommy Silet, Lord)
After settling into the boarding house, Tolkien, just 16 years old, met a young woman named Edith

Although they are two very different perspectives both are based around the horrors of war and the
unimaginable amount of deaths that WW1 had caused. There are numerous amounts of similarities
between the two poems Dulce et Decorum Est and The Soldier . Throughout The Soldier Brooke

In the first stanza of Dulce et Decorum Est , the reader is instantly drawn in with Bent double . This
gives the poem a feeling of immediacy which is then followed up by a detailed description of what is
to come. Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs/ Men marched asleep/ Many had lost their
boots but limped on. The reader is yet again, drawn into the graphic scene of war. The alliteration
Knock kneed emphasises the battle weariness of the soldiers and intensifies the way they depicted
war. Owen creates rhythm throughout the stanza by littering the poem with pauses. He uses this
technique in the line All went blind; Drunk with fatigue; death even to the hoots Of tired . Owen
makes the scene more vivid by bringing in his own involvement to war with we cursed through the

soldiers. The Soldier is one of numerous poems written at the beginning of war (before Dulce et

Secondly, it taught me about the consequences becoming overly dependent on mathematical aids

Learning about the long and tiresome process of transforming ordinary fractions into decimal fractions

downsides to relying more on the calculator than relying on old fashioned mind. Patterns as Aids

interviews as questions could be open or closed. Since interviewer is not present or in a word nobody
is available to interpret the questions for the participant, making the ... Show more content on

For example when a participant is asked about to enter his/her date of birth, a pop up message could
tell them what date format needs to be used. Data validation could easily be implemented in web
based questionnaire, which will warn the user about invalid data and tell them what is expected. At the
same time this would help the researchers from not having invalid data when analyzing in the lab. For
example, when asked a teacher what year the school was established? , the answer has to be a four
digit number less than or equal to current year and will not accept text as input. By writing a
validation rule in the back end, this could be accomplished (max char size = 4 and reg. expression (/d)
which will only accept 4 digit number). Skip logic is another simple aspect of web based questionnaire
and it must be implemented when creating and designing a interactive questionnaire. If a respondent
answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end for comparison purpose. Based on
the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can be skipped. For example, if a respondent
answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest of the iPad features related questions can be
skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age range as well. Another easy aspect of creating and
conducting an online questionnaire is faster response rate and automatic transfer of responses

The Protagonists In Game Changers
The protagonists of Game Changers were Ben, Lily,Sam, and Coop. They were the protagonists
because they were the most positive and Lilly, Sam, and coop were all Ben s friends. The antagonist
was Shawn O Brien because he was a rival with Ben to start at QB. He was also very negative every
time he made a mistake instead of trying to get better. The other antagonists were all of the football
teams that played the Rams because they were going against the Rams, the team that Ben played on.
Coach O Brien was an antagonist at first, but then he started Ben at QB so he wasn t putting Ben at
WR anymore since he wanted to be QB so badly. The story took place sometime in the 2000s. The
whole story mainly took place on the football field. The rising

Grapes Of Wrath Transcendentalism
In John Steinbeck s 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath, the theme of family is explored. Steinbeck
follows a family of migrants moving westward during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl era, and
chronicles their experiences as they live through overly inferior conditions. In Chapter Seventeen of
the novel, Steinbeck discusses what life is like generally for migrant families as they journey out west.
It becomes the norm for families to set up camp each night with other families and share their food
and experiences. The migrants set up their own rules for their society and through these rules, the
audience can understand how these people wish to be governed. Their ideals are very similar to the
ideals of Henry David Thoreau, a transcendentalist author, poet, philosopher, and historian. In an
essay entitled Civil Disobedience, Thoreau ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The migrants in Steinbeck s novel have similar beliefs, but also have differing opinions regarding the
function of government. Both Steinbeck and Thoreau agree that in a society, there should be no ranks,
and everyone should be equal and united in order for the society to function properly. When referring
to how the unity of the migrants started, Steinbeck says, In the evening a strange thing happened: the
twenty families became one family, the children were the children of all. The loss of home became
one loss, and the golden time in the West was one dream, (Steinbeck 264). The migrants didn t have a
lot of possessions when they moved westward. They were all very impoverished, so there was nothing
they had that others didn t that would lead

Women At Point Zero
Women at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi can be read and interpreted differently by two different
readers by examining three things; how El Saadawi uses metaphors and emotions that only females
can strongly relate to, how the use of villain and victim play a part in how each gender can personally
feel victimized or in the place of the antagonist, how certain aspects of the characters are important to
the plot line and the moral of the story. These parts of the book show how women can sympathize and
connect with Fridaus, while men can only sympathize to a certain extent. We encounter a situation
only really experienced by females on page 13, where Fridaus is being subjected to FGM (female
genital mutilation). In this moment she does not know what is being done and for what reasons. She
describes it as them cutting a piece of flesh from her, which leads to her crying all night and not being
able to attend her usual field ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The villains in the book consist of her father, her uncle, the uncle s wife, Marzouk, Bayoumi,
Abraham, and her husband. Fridaus encounters these men and has unpleasant experiences with them.
For example Bayoumi treated her nicely, took her in, made things feel and seem safe, and created a
dependency upon him; however, he later turns her into his tortured personal sex slave. The only way
she escaped was to be cut out of the house by a carpenter. Her father never gave her love and
affection, or any kind of attention other than on pages 23 and 24 where he hits her hand away from
taking his food which was the only food in the house. If you also look at the victims in the book they
were usually the women and mainly Fridaus herself. Other than all the awful situations that Fridaus
went through, she also does a monologue about how submissive women are also being victimized by
men in power on page 75 and later on page

Internship Evaluation
Final Assignment Internship Evaluation
What did you enjoy most about the internship program? Was there anything you d like to see changed
or done differently?
I really enjoyed the meetings that we had together. It was awesome to get to meet some of the other
interns in the program and I found the meetings to be very informative. It was great to hear about the
core values of the chaplain program and then be able to reflect on things we learned with assignments.
It was all very practical and useful in preparing to potentially become a chaplain.
How has the chaplain internship helped you see the heart behind the chaplain program?
The meetings were really valuable because they helped me understand more in depth what the values
of the chaplain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So team leadership is important because the other leaders around you are a valuable resource to help
you be the best leader you can be. All the roles have equal importance and all are highly valued and
needed. However just because of a certain title, Chaplain, APA, or RA, does not mean that you have to
only be confined to serving in that capacity. It s okay to overlap a bit and help one another lead well.
One of the quotes that was talked about said: We can function to the maximum only as we become a
whole person with spirit, mind, and body working harmoniously together. When discussing this with
my group we came to the conclusion that we need to pursue health and make sure we are taking care
of all three aspects of our lives. If one part suffers there are implications in all areas of life. The health
of all three is vital to success in becoming whole and leading with your whole self. To be able to give
my best self to others in a leadership capacity I have to manage my body, spirit and mind

This new design allowed for faster flight and better visibility for the pilot. Air cooled engines lead the way for commercial aircraft, and Boeing introduces the first modern airliner the 247. Airplanes are effected the greatest by supply and demand of war. New styles of war begun to emerge so did new and improved types of aircraft. The population of the U.S. also begun to grow which leads to the modern most sophisticated commercial airliner the 777. Most aircraft improvements are found in the military and intelligence field. The most high tech aircraft known today for such things as spying are the SR 71 Blackbird, and the U 2 Spy plane. The most complicated and best aircraft performance is still held by the space shuttle and probably always will be. Margaret Cavendish Called The Blazing World Summary The Superiority Complex of Mankind Margaret Cavendish s The Description of a New World, Called The Blazing World, is a 17th century work of prose fiction that represents a satirical, utopian kingdom within a different world ( Margaret Cavendish, The Duchess of Newcastle. ). A young woman from Earth enters this new world, meeting a society composed of various species of talking animals; these hybrid animals from The Blazing World illustrate the readers understanding of the relationship between humans and nature. In representing hybrid creatures as figures of knowledge and peaceful coexistence, Cavendish addresses the damaging history of the superiority complex in fictional literature. Cleopatra was strong willed and ambitious. She wanted to bring her county to the glory of its former days. However Ptolemy s advisers drove Cleopatra out of Egypt by the time she was 20 years old. Cleopatra was determined to fight for the throne, so she made an army in Syria and prepared to go to war against her brother. Comparing Dziga Vertov s Film, Man with a Movie Camera and Run Lola Run The main and essential thing is : the sensory exploration of the world through film. We therefore take as a point of departure the use of the camera as a keno eye, more perfect than the human eye, for the exploration of the chaos of visual phenomena that fills space. Dziga Vertov , Manifesto The Council of Three (1923) The innovative theories and filmmaking techniques of Dziga Vertov revolutionized the way films are made today. Even his style of using montage (editing style commonly used by Soviet directors) in Man with a Movie Camera was very different. In this film, hours of footage are edited together in many cuts, which is the style that Vertov is well known for. His cuts are very rapid and he displays them accordingly to music to add excitement to the sequence. The sequences act on all three levels of montage: narrative, intellectual, and emotional. For example in the beginning of Man with a Movie Camera, there is a sequence in a theatre where the cameraman sets up the film for the audience to watch (appendix 1). The lights come on, the seats go down, the cameraman sets up the projector, the audience enters, the lights dim, the orchestra awaits and then the manifest begins. Harper Lee is careful with her word choice to create a heavy tone in the verdict scene: ...Mr.Jem, I ain t ever seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man (238). The purpose of this dialogue between Reverend Sykes and Jem is to foreshadow the wrongful outcome. While Scout is waiting for the verdict, she thinks to herself I had never seen a packed courtroom so still (238). This line builds suspense within the scene. The reader can visualize a room full of people holding their breath. A jury never looks at a defendant it has convicted...none of them looked at Tom Robinson (240). With this line, the reader knows that the jury has gone against rightful morals, convicting an innocent man. This line further insinuates the focal point of the scene: color can dictate your fate, even when you ve done nothing unlawful. In Still I Rise, Ms.Angelou uses action verbs to set an upfront tone in the poem. ...shoot me with you words (21). The strong connotation of the word shoot contrasts with words as words are not meant to be tangible weapons. Lines in the poem that reflect such a contrast as well are ...cut me with your eyes (22) and ...kill me with your hatefulness (23). • 20. A Note On Macro, Micro Evolution There Is Important For... First off, when talk about macro, micro evolution there is much falsehood about these two words, but, understanding them is maybe the vital essential for comprehension the creation or development issue. Macroevolution alludes to major developmental changes after some time, the inception of new sorts of creatures from beforehand existing, yet distinctive, tribal sorts. On the other hand, Microevolution alludes to assortments inside of a given sort. Change happens inside of a gathering, however the relative is unmistakably of the same sort as the precursor. According to Berkeley.edu, Macroevolution generally refers to evolution above the species level. So instead of focusing on an individual beetle species, a macroevolutionary lens might require that we zoom out on the tree of life, to assess the diversity of the entire beetle clade and its position on the tree. Macroevolution includes the most amazing patterns and changes in development, for example, the beginning of warm blooded animals and the radiation of blooming plants. Macro evolutionary examples are by and large what we see when we take a gander at the substantial scale history of life. It is not as a matter of course simple to see macro evolutionary history; there are no firsthand records to be perused. Rather, we reproduce the historical backdrop of life utilizing all accessible confirmation: geography, fossils, and living beings. • 21. How Does Frost Use Symbols In Robert Frost Frost first illustrates the use of symbolism through the bending of the birches in order to allude to a freedom from reality. In this manner, he begins by imagining that the shapes and bends of the birch trees were caused by a young boy climbing and swinging gleefully upon the trunks; as he once did. This moment of nostalgia allows him to reflect to his childhood, wistfully wishing to return to a more carefree time where he too was a kicker of branches. To emphasize this idea, he goes on to compare the climbing of the thick wood trunks, to attempting to reach up towards heaven. As a result of this, Frost desperately wishes to escape from the ground, and in a sense, the real world. In spite of this, his wistful thinking is broken when he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Ethics Of The Corporate Veil Introduction The corporate veil is a term that refers to the concept of treating a corporation as a separate legal entity from its shareholders and thus bestowing upon it separate rights, obligations and liabilities. In the landmark case of Salomon v Salomon, the court stated that the liability of company shareholders is limited only to the extent of their capital contributions. The court also explained that since companies are separate legal entities from shareholders, they are separately liable for debt and obligatory responsibilities. However, there have been special circumstances where English courts have found it necessary to lift the corporate veil for the sake of delivering justice. Although such instances are rare, the possibility of lifting the corporate veil has generated controversy. Such controversy primarily revolves around the uncertainty of circumstances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary. This paper provides a critical analysis of instances in which lifting the corporate veil is necessary. The analysis applies examples and evidence from English case law, statutes and other applicable legal principles. Lifting the corporate veil Fraud (avoiding existing obligations) The most prominent instance in which English courts allow lifting of the corporate veil is when individuals establish companies to commit fraud. Much of the money collected from taxation goes into causes of less importance or is not managed correctly by the U.S. government. Among all of the fifty states, there are several philosophies accepted by each, which leads to a fluctuation in tax rates. If a respondent answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end for comparison purpose. Based on the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can be skipped. For example, if a respondent answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest of the iPad features related questions can be skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age range as well. Another easy aspect of creating and conducting an online questionnaire is faster response rate and automatic transfer of responses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Protagonists In Game Changers The protagonists of Game Changers were Ben, Lily,Sam, and Coop. They were the protagonists because they were the most positive and Lilly, Sam, and coop were all Ben s friends. The antagonist was Shawn O Brien because he was a rival with Ben to start at QB. He was also very negative every time he made a mistake instead of trying to get better. The other antagonists were all of the football teams that played the Rams because they were going against the Rams, the team that Ben played on. Coach O Brien was an antagonist at first, but then he started Ben at QB so he wasn t putting Ben at WR anymore since he wanted to be QB so badly. The story took place sometime in the 2000s. • 41. Grapes Of Wrath Transcendentalism In John Steinbeck s 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath, the theme of family is explored. Steinbeck follows a family of migrants moving westward during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl era, and chronicles their experiences as they live through overly inferior conditions. In Chapter Seventeen of the novel, Steinbeck discusses what life is like generally for migrant families as they journey out west. It becomes the norm for families to set up camp each night with other families and share their food and experiences. The migrants set up their own rules for their society and through these rules, the audience can understand how these people wish to be governed. Their ideals are very similar to the ideals of Henry David Thoreau, a transcendentalist author, poet, philosopher, and historian. In an essay entitled Civil Disobedience, Thoreau ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The migrants in Steinbeck s novel have similar beliefs, but also have differing opinions regarding the function of government. Both Steinbeck and Thoreau agree that in a society, there should be no ranks, and everyone should be equal and united in order for the society to function properly. When referring to how the unity of the migrants started, Steinbeck says, In the evening a strange thing happened: the twenty families became one family, the children were the children of all. The loss of home became one loss, and the golden time in the West was one dream, (Steinbeck 264). The migrants didn t have a lot of possessions when they moved westward. They were all very impoverished, so there was nothing they had that others didn t that would lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Women At Point Zero Women at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi can be read and interpreted differently by two different readers by examining three things; how El Saadawi uses metaphors and emotions that only females can strongly relate to, how the use of villain and victim play a part in how each gender can personally feel victimized or in the place of the antagonist, how certain aspects of the characters are important to the plot line and the moral of the story. These parts of the book show how women can sympathize and connect with Fridaus, while men can only sympathize to a certain extent. We encounter a situation only really experienced by females on page 13, where Fridaus is being subjected to FGM (female genital mutilation). In this moment she does not know what is being done and for what reasons. She describes it as them cutting a piece of flesh from her, which leads to her crying all night and not being able to attend her usual field ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The villains in the book consist of her father, her uncle, the uncle s wife, Marzouk, Bayoumi, Abraham, and her husband. Fridaus encounters these men and has unpleasant experiences with them. For example Bayoumi treated her nicely, took her in, made things feel and seem safe, and created a dependency upon him; however, he later turns her into his tortured personal sex slave. The only way she escaped was to be cut out of the house by a carpenter. Her father never gave her love and affection, or any kind of attention other than on pages 23 and 24 where he hits her hand away from taking his food which was the only food in the house. If you also look at the victims in the book they were usually the women and mainly Fridaus herself. Other than all the awful situations that Fridaus went through, she also does a monologue about how submissive women are also being victimized by men in power on page 75 and later on page ... • 43. Internship Evaluation Final Assignment Internship Evaluation What did you enjoy most about the internship program? Was there anything you d like to see changed or done differently? I really enjoyed the meetings that we had together. It was awesome to get to meet some of the other interns in the program and I found the meetings to be very informative. It was great to hear about the core values of the chaplain program and then be able to reflect on things we learned with assignments. It was all very practical and useful in preparing to potentially become a chaplain. How has the chaplain internship helped you see the heart behind the chaplain program? The meetings were really valuable because they helped me understand more in depth what the values of the chaplain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So team leadership is important because the other leaders around you are a valuable resource to help you be the best leader you can be. All the roles have equal importance and all are highly valued and needed. However just because of a certain title, Chaplain, APA, or RA, does not mean that you have to only be confined to serving in that capacity. It s okay to overlap a bit and help one another lead well. One of the quotes that was talked about said: We can function to the maximum only as we become a whole person with spirit, mind, and body working harmoniously together. When discussing this with my group we came to the conclusion that we need to pursue health and make sure we are taking care of all three aspects of our lives. If one part suffers there are implications in all areas of life. The health of all three is vital to success in becoming whole and leading with your whole self. To be able to give my best self to others in a leadership capacity I have to manage my body, spirit and mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
