Haber Process One World Essay
The Haber Process, also known as the Haber Bosch Process, was discovered in the first half of the
20th Century, by a man named Fritz Haber. The Haber could be considered to be a very high on
technological advance/discovery in the past 100 years. The world has had many mixed opinions on
Fritz Haber and his development of the Haber Process. The manufacture of Ammonia has a lot of
history and science behind it, it has impacted our history as well as our present day, mainly in our
environment. Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, two German Chemists, developed the Haber Process, in the
early 1900s, as ammonia was very difficult to produce on a high ... Show more content on

Though, 80% of ammonia produced is used in agriculture for fertilizers (Ammonia, Wikipedia), it is
also used for refrigerant gas, to purify water supplies, and in the manufacturing of explosives, fabrics,
pesticides and many other chemicals (health.ny.gov). Ammonia is a in house hold cleaning supplies.
The cleaning solution for bigger projects, industrial use contains larger amounts of ammonia and will
cause irritation. There also have been some negative uses, thoughts, and effects of the Haber Process.
With the Haber Process, the nitrogen cycle is thrown off track, and it creates an imbalance, due to that
large amount of extraction from our atmosphere. To complete the process, there is a high fossil fuel
input, as you require 400 550oC and that uses a lot of energy. When ammonia enters the body, due to
breathing, it sometimes reacts with water to produce ammonium hydroxide. This is very corrosive
chemical and has been known to damage cells in the body that it comes in contact with. During World
War 1, the Germans took the research used by the German Chemists, to kill troops that were stuck in
trenches, with Ammonia poisoning. Every good thing comes with a side of bad effects, and Haber and
Bosch s discovery had almost a full serving of bad. Though we still use ammonia in our day to day
lives, as well has for industrial purposes, there are many ways that it has impacted us negatively.

Religious War
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a warrior in the holy wars? Well, you mightn t want to.
These wars included lots of torment and bloodshed of the religious leaders. These oppositions of
religion were entirely wrong. Religious leaders showed hatred and anger to other religions, resulting
in them having wars.
To begin with, two of the three religions that were fighting in the religious war were against slaughter
and murder. As stated in the Ten Commandments of the Torah, Thous shalt not kill. They all should ve
listened to this commandment, but, instead, they attacked each other . On the other hand, people might
say, The religions fighting in the wars were just defending themselves. Said quote could most likely be
wrong, though, because someone would ve had to start these wars in the first place. ... Show more

Foster Care And Adoption Is More Common Than Not
Children roam around in schools, at work, on the playground, in the malls, and anywhere else a child
would like to be. Young children are often accompanied by an adult, of which one would assume to be
their parents or primary caregivers. In 2007 forty eight million americans had considered adoption.
Foster care has a goal, it is to help children in need be safe for the time being and try to reunited these
children with their biological parents. Believe it or not foster care and adoption is more common than
not. Many myths go around making children dread the system when in all reality the system is a
support system there to help those children in need. Once the child is in a placement with a foster
family, their ultimate goal is to provide the child in a safe, loving, nurturing environment until then
can be reunified with their parents. These children get use to their foster family, some even grow
rather fond of them and are attached, is it right to take away the only family they have ever really truly
known? This can cause emotional arousal and distress on the child and the foster family.
There are many people in the world who for some reason do have have the ability to have children.
This does not mean they should not be a parent or that they cannot be a parent. Many of these families
consider being foster parents or even adopting children so they can experience parenthood. Not
everyone is meant to be a foster parents, although it is relatively easy to become a foster

The Pros And Cons Of The Progressive Era
Working only to die or lose a limb, being a woman with no voice, and dealing with unsanitary meat
and food has never been the ideal lifestyle. The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social
activism and political reform across the United States from 1890 to the 1920 s. The main objectives of
the progressive movement were eliminating problems caused by industrialization,
urbanization, immigration and corruption in government (Progressive Era). Yet people in the
Progressive Era fought to change abuses with things like working conditions by going on strike or
forming groups like labor unions, the 19th amendment to help women in America have the right to
vote, and things like the pure food and drug act and the meat inspection act to protect the consumers.
People went on strike meaning they stopped going to work to change the work conditions. They felt if
there was no workers there was no factories, they wanted better conditions and going on strike was the
start to this. Women also went on strike they protested until the Nineteenth Amendment was passed.
Lastly 2 food acts were passed to protect the consumers from the meat that was causing illness and
death. Despite previous arguments the progressive era was no joke nothing about it was okay until the
people were able to get reform laws changed.
During the time of 1900 1917 working conditions in America were horrible. President Theodore
Roosevelt had championed the conservation movement to save human lives (progressive era

Analysis Of Donald Blumberg s The Master
Through August 21 to November 22 2015, Yale University Art Gallery is presenting Donald
Blumbergs Photographs: Selection from the Master Sets. 160 photographs from last six decades.
Donald Blumberg is a contemporary American photographer born in 1935. In his early carrier, his
work focused on street photography; later on he developed his own style showing mass media,
identity and consumerism. His black and white photographs explore space, politics and surrounding us
culture. The exhibition is divided in sections, showing different periods of time and subjects that
Blumberg was interested in at that time.
His earlier work in the 60 s shows streets of New York City, both urban areas as people living there.
What s interesting in his work is that he not only captured everyday life, but also signs, advertisements
and newspapers, which give us more information about past events. His street photography resulted in
an amazing series In Front of Saint Patrick s Cathedral . He used the black of the cathedral doorway as
a frame to photograph people emerging from the church. He used a long exposure to black out any
detail inside of the cathedral, and concentrated on the people. The success of the series is in an
unexpected angles and composition he used. Sometimes he would put all the people clustered in a
corner or show only heads on the edge of a photo. His work is very high contrast and dynamic. Some
of the figures in the photos are blurry; ghost like figures representing passing

Social Class In Madame Bovary
In the novel Madame Bovary, Flaubert drew attention to the concept of social class and studiously
built all the characters according to their place in the communal hierarchy. Housekeepers, nurses, and
footmen, were representatives of the lower class people, who served a purpose of aiding the middle
class families, including the Bovary s. The higher class consisted of Rodolphe (the wealthy aristocrat)
and the guests we were introduced to at the ball earlier on in the book. The novel s protagonist, Emma
Bovary, who was educated in a convent and raised in the country, was undoubtedly categorized as a
middle class woman, yet whether or not that was her rightful status is the overriding question. Emma
married Charles at a young age in an attempt to detach herself from the mediocre way of life at the
farm, yet he failed to live up to the fanatical romance and sophistication her novels set. Her ego and
belief that she was strained into a situation lower than her warrant reflect the touch of nobility she
craves, one she spent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Subaru s Five Irresistible Used Sporty Cars
Subaru s 5 Irresistible Used Sporty Cars Subaru, founded on July 15th 1953, is the twenty second
largest automaker by production worldwide in 2012 and for good reason. Subaru began selling cars
with the motto Inexpensive, and built to stay that way and delivered the best economic cars. Their
grand entrance into motor vehicular field was made with Subaru 1500, that used a 1.5 litre four
cylinder OHV engine, which set the bar high for themselves and others. Though four wheel drives are
the reason for Subaru s fame, there are some very sweet rides that went out of production but are still
the best choice among used cars. 1. Impreza P1 Impreza P1 is the sixth limited edition car from
Subaru introduced in March, 2000, five years after Colin McRae drove Subaru to clinch Britain s first

a maximum power of 280 bhp @ 280 rpm. Its top speed is a recorded 155 mph and goes from 0 to 60

Examples Of Discourse Communities
REDO DISCOURSE COMMUNITY
Everyone has the same goal in a discourse community, achieving a set goal. Whether it be getting
work done or doing something for fun everyone has a goal in a group. The reason why people come
together to form a group is usually one they cannot achieve alone. Playing a game alone makes it
reasonably boring but with other people involved makes the game more fun. Unlike most discourse
communities the players in the game Dota 2 do not do a physical activity. While ninety percent of
discourse communities come together to finish manual labor, the community of Dota 2 comes together
to have fun. This proves that not all discourse communities form to do work.

A way to pick teammates is to usually make friends and have fun with them. Older Timers within the
group you can usually pick out because they have a more negative view on the game and are harsh to
get onto people for doing something that was out of sorts. A new player usually is very positive
starting out and is very open minded about what they can do. This usually fades after a month of
playing the game. You also can tell who s a new player based on what they buy and how they play. I ve
had the luxury of interviewing a young teen that is on a small, competitive team. When the teen was
asked why does he play Dota 2 he responded, at first I played it because it looked interesting, but
nearly 1000 hours later, I play because I know so much about the game it makes it more fun to make
decisions; plus I like playing with friends. This concludes that not all players play necessarily for the
bragging rights of just being good , players play to be able to have a fun activity with their friends or
just simply make friends. It s ridiculously easy to make friends in game considering if you do, these
people see you from when you started to where you currently are now. This gives them a sense of
being with you from when you just began playing the game. Understanding team roles also helps
anyone become a better player within the game. To understand team roles a person must be playing for

The Case Of Harvey And Capability Limited
The Case of Harvey and Capability Limited
Before analysing, Harvey needs to be advised that there are two known clauses that exist in a contract;
limitation clause and exclusion clause. He needs to understand that there is a difference between both
of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that is relied on in a
contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. This can only be used as an
indicator for Harvey to recognise their differences, but, it will not be explained any further as the
enquiry made is only related to exclusion clause. Capability Limited is a private limited company that
has subcontracted a sole proprietor, Reckless Enterprise. As the damages were done by Reckless
Enterprise, with the matter of who is liable to pay for it, the court needs to look deep into the
consequences of Capability Limited and how Reckless Enterprise was included in the Memorandum
as a third party.
Exclusion Clauses
If the contract is breached, the party relying on the exclusion clauses will not be responsible for
paying for any damages (Treitel, 1995). If the document does not have any intention for the contract,
exclusion clause will not be bound. As it can only be defined in this manner, Harvey also has to ...

signed the order without reading the clause. She sued the defendants as it did not work but the court
argues that, once signed, she was automatically bound by the clause regardless of whether she read it
or not. However, in other cases, it can be argued that there are other exceptions that would be

Teenagers Have Respect
A lot of teenagers these days don t respect each other because they are jealous of each other. I think
that I am lucky and have no reason to be jealous so I try to respect everyone the way they are.
Although the people I would like to talk about is how much respect I have for my mom and dad. I
think that having respect for your parents is one of the most important things especially as a teenager.
If you don t have respect for your parents then why should they have respect for you when you grow
up. My mom owns ten hair salons and deals with many different problems every day and I don t really
know how she does it. So I have uttermost respect for her everyday. Sometimes my mom talks to me
about stuff I don t exactly agree with her, but I still want to show respect while making my argument. I
do that by kindly telling her my opinion without getting mad. Then I wait to see what she says, back
and normally her opinion makes more sense, so I just listen to what she has to say. I never get mad or
yell at her, but I repeat her opinion just as much as I respect mine. Not only do I show respect to my
mom but she shows respect to me and to the things that I love to do. A lot of people don t ... Show

Fishing In Nova Scotia Research Paper
Fishing in Nova Scotia was and is how a vast majority of families earned their income. Boats were
and can be passed down through families, and how most people were brought into fishing, was from
helping their fathers as a summer job with very little pay which led to them fishing on their own.
Fishing was good (back then) there was a lot of fish around but because of overfishing the stocks
declined. Fishermen fished for in the area are pollock, haddock, cod fish, herring, halibut and lobster.
At one time there was a lot of pollock around and according to
https://www.seafoodhealthfacts.org/seafood choices/description top.../alaska pollock pollock were
caught by gillnets, which are nets that are set on the ocean floor and were hauled daily. Today, there is
not a high market for them because they are not as popular in nova scotia. One reason they are not
fished as much today is because the quota is so small for codfish and when people are fishing for
pollock you get codfish in the nets which you have to through back and most of the fish are already
dead. Pollock can grow to 105 centimetres (3.44 ft) and can weigh up to 21 kilograms

Equity of Trade Versus Free Trade Essay
Equity of Trade Versus Free Trade
The U.S. has a huge trade imbalance with most trading nations. The imbalance is not in agriculture,
although many food products both raw and processed enter the U.S. at prices below those for
comparable U.S. grown foodstuffs. To a large degree the imbalance is in manufactured goods. One
reason is that many nations have lower costs of production based upon a lower standard of living,
cheap labor, inexpensive raw materials, protective government policy, etc. Multinationals who have
moved their plants to foreign locations enjoy the best of both worlds inexpensive manufacturing costs

It s logical to believe that the foreign trading entity will not leave all the tariff money and accrued
interest to go into the U.S. Treasury by default. It will purchase a like amount of goods and services to

Analyze what happened: No one got taken advantage of. America got the imported goods. The foreign
entity received a like amount of American goods or services. The trade books are balanced. All monies
earned interest every step of the way.
The U.S. didn t allow inexpensive foreign goods to displace American goods on price alone. It made
the foreign goods compete on a quality basis with American goods. American consumers will make
the choice of which is better at a comparable price. If the foreign goods are really superior to the
American goods, then the foreign manufacturer will have earned an increased share of the world
market and the U.S. manufacturer or ag producer will have to get more competitive or go out of
business. The reverse is also true so the free market and the law of supply and demand still gets a
chance to work, but it works on the basis of quality and value, not upon inherent differences in world
standards of living.

The Essence Of Being A Leader
3 Focus on the essence of being a leader
Being a leader is not a position you gain; it s not about having a special title or a specific role within
an organisation. Being a leader is about behaviour and actions. You can be a leader even if you aren t
at a senior level at an organisation and you can find examples of people who call themselves leaders
because of their position of power, but who in fact act more like bosses. Whatever you do, always
remember the essence of being a leader: sharing your vision with people and inspiring them to follow
your cause.
Examine different leaders, listen to them sharing their wisdom and discover the characteristics, skills
and traits that make them successful at what they do. You can find many resources on leadership and
being a leader. One great way is to watch interviews. For example, the YouTube clip below has
Richard Branson sharing his views on the essential quality of a leader:
Use the information and experience to develop your own leadership style and strategy. Identify your
strengths and weaknesses as a leader, utilising them as part of your chosen style. By understanding
your own behaviour and how it influences your abilities as a leader, you can continue developing your
skills. But more important is how it can help you realise how its your behaviour that defines your
success as a leader, not your place within an organisation s hierarchy.
You can t be complacent and expect people the look up to you as a leader when you gain a

SWOT analysis to KBRA. The 5 year projected NPV is $341.1 million, a positive number. It is a good

Also, without revenues from users of ratings, it will be tougher to finance startup costs and future
operating.
Beside internal factors, we examine the external factors, Opportunities and Threats, of KBRA. The
incumbent credit raters fail in the financial crisis gave an opportunity for new rating agencies like
KBRA. After the financial crisis, the government and the investors realized the importance of
appropriate corporate credit rating. The government might tend to subsidize newly established rating
organizations and create new regulations for credit rating in order to eliminate the oligopoly of three
big financial agencies. KBRA benefits from such environment. Also, it is easier for small or new
rating agencies like KBRA to apply a new revenue model under revised regulations.
After the financial crisis, many new rating agencies announced their entry into the credit rating
business. Many of them were prominent to the public and owned a great quantity of resource. The
entering of new firms made the credit rating industry competitive and thus posed a threat on KBRA.
The Failures of Incumbent Credit Raters
The incumbent credit raters had received severe criticism following the collapse in creditworthiness

FABP is a valuable predictor of contrast induced nephropathy for individuals with chronic kidney
disease who required contrast for diagnostics prior to actual exposure to the dye. The predictive level
of L FABP is greater than or equal to 24.5 µg/g for individuals with chronic kidney failure prior to
contrast exposure (Manabe et al., 2012); this means that if an individual has an L FABP level of 24.5
or higher, then the likelihood of developing contrast induced nephropathy is high. However, there is a
need for more studies for the utility of L FABP for individuals with acute kidney failure, instead of
chronic kidney failure. If this test proves to be beneficial for individuals with acute renal failure, then
perhaps this could assist providers in their evaluation of the risks and benefits associated with contrast
involved diagnostic studies and interventions in patients with acute renal

Secret And Forbidden Love In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...

AP English 11
2nd period
December 15, 2017
Title
Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The Scarlet Letter is a story of secret and forbidden love as well as the
cause and effect of this forbidden love, the setting is a Puritan colony in Boston, Massachusetts around
1750. The main character Hester Prynne, a God fearing Puritan living within this community, gets
caught in the act of adultery when she is discovered to be with child whilst having no husband. During
this era, the punishment for adultery forced the adulteress or adulterer to wear a scarlet letter A upon
their bosom. While staying in prison, following the discovery of her sin, Hester gave birth to a
beautiful baby girl, which she named Pearl. Although some may choose to look upon pearl as a gift
from the devil, or as a rotten curse, Pearl grows to become a reflection of both individual and
collective human conscience, a personification of the scarlet letter, and a symbol of light. Pearl
represents a physical form of many character s consciences throughout the novel. For instance, she is
the voice of the collective conscience within her community when she points the crooked finger at
Hester in the forest. Everywhere Hester goes, Pearl must follow and so she is a constant reminder to
Hester that she must wear the scarlet letter at all times, while on their walk in Chapter 16, Pearl tells
her mother that the sunshine does not (274) love her and it runs away and hides itself (274)because it
is afraid of the letter. However, after Hester has cast off the letter A Pearl refuses to come to her. Pearl
often highlights and brings attention to Hester s scarlet letter by inquiring about its purpose, this shows
that while she may represent the conscience of those around her, she is still a little girl trying to
understand the world around her. Pearl is not only of manifestation of a community conscience but she
is most importantly a physical manifestation of Arthur Dimmesdale s conscience. She sees most
clearly his inner desires and she is attracted to him from the beginning. During their first encounter
when Pearl is still practically a newborn, she reaches for Dimmesdale, and while he notices he does

How Did Catherine II Changed Russia
Catherine II once said Power without a nation s confidence is nothing ( Catherine the Great Quote ).
Catherine II, or Catherine the Great, was one of Russia s greatest leaders. Although she was German
born, Catherine II looked forward to her chance at ruling Russia and changed the country for the
better. She tried to create policies that were in the best interest of the Russian people and would help
to westernize her country ( World ). Catherine the Great was responsible for expanding Russia and the
implementation of political, education, and social reforms that changed the country ( World ).

One of the most influential of her political reforms came about in 1767, called the Instruction (
Catherine, II ). The Instruction was a major reform of the government system in Russia, not only that
but it was full of Enlightenment ideals ( World ). Catherine II borrowed ideas from many
Enlightenment philosophers such as Montesquieu, Beccaria, and Adam Smith ( Catherine, II ). She
worked on the Instruction for 2 years, but it was never put into effect as it called for a system of
government that was too far ahead of its time ( Catherine the Great ) ( World ). Notwithstanding the
years spent on the Instruction, Catherine II still managed to create reforms that brought Russia into a
more modern age. In the Statute of 1775 on Provincial Government, she sought to eradicate rampant
corruption in provincial governments. To do this, she created a system under which provinces were
controlled by agents from the central government in St. Petersburg. This idea then spawned an
additional law that was modern and democratic in spirit, it called for the help of villagers and
townspeople in governing themselves through elected office

Argumentative Essay On Airport Security
Where you normally hail a taxi, that is where the attack happened. The ground is just kind of
shredded. There are bloodstains on the floor as well. (Source Tuysuz and Almasy) Multiple gun shots
and explosions were reported at an airport in Istanbul, Turkey where the Turkish Prime Minister,
completely petrified, uttered that there were at least 36 fatalities and an additional 147 wounded.
Many civilians ducked into prayer rooms for safety. There was a lot of blood, she said. The floor was

My Experience As An Intern For The Semester Of Fall
Introduction In this report I will discuss my experience as an intern for the semester of fall, 2015. For
the past few months I have partaken in a residential construction internship building custom homes
and renovations through a non profit organization for veterans and the elderly. Internship Orientation
and Preparation My internship began on August 17th. Throughout the first 2 weeks there was another
intern at the company. Throughout those two weeks the other intern mentored me and gave me advice
to have a successful internship and how the company functioned. When the next intern starts his
internship in the spring, I will take the role as a mentor for a week as well. Having a fellow intern
prepare you and tell you what to expect created a better transition into the internship. Early in the
internship, my boss made it clear that I would be spending most of the day with him either at the
office or out in the field. In preparation for work every day, I recommend dressing in comfortable yet
professional clothing. On certain days we met with the owners of our projects, so it was essential to be
presentable. It is also important to eat a good and healthy breakfast to have energy and start the day off
correctly. Houston can have atrocious traffic depending on the hour of the day, weather, or accidents.
To get to work on time I strived to be there at least thirty minutes before my actual day of work began.
In those thirty minutes I was able to review the day before and make

New Product Development ( Npd )
New Product Development (NPD) entails introduction of new products or services to the market. In
today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly,
international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding;
again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. (Bigliardi, Eleonora, Roberto,
Giuseppe, 2010). In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive
advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products that
are well aligned to target customer needs. (Calantone, Vickery, Dröge, 1995; Damanpour Shanti,
2001). Therefore, success of many companies have been attributed to ... Show more content on

Thereafter, conclusions and recommendations for improving the NPD process of the company are
enumerated. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of evolution of
design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of NPD models are
identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of models, NPD process was
perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to simplify innovation activities.
(Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010)
proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24 activities flow diagram appropriate for non
industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model
for industrial goods. Another model proposed during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were
performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third
generation of NPD models, which involves moving a new product from idea to launch mainly
incorporating discipline into a process. Even though there exist differences across various models, in
terms of the activities recognised, each theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly
similar. Most of the stage based models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having
feedback loops between each activity. New

What Is Total Quality Management ( Tqm ) Is Defined As A...
1. Total quality management(TQM) is defined as a system of management based on the principle that
every member of a company must contribute towards improving and maintaining the standards of
work in every aspect of the company s operations. It is not only customer focused but requires total
employee involvement along with a focus on process control. A strategic and systematic fact based
decision approach is required for the continuous improvement of the company. The start of TQM is
marked by the introduction of scientific management principles in 1920s. In the 1930s, Walter
Shewhart, a young engineer, developed the methods of statistical analysis and control of quality using
metal rimmed tags and kitchen bowl in the initial experiments. ... Show more content on

This reduces cost for the company correspondingly increasing the overall profit for the company. With
better services and good quality products, customers are satisfied resulting in fewer complaints and
better brand value. Every production enterprise requires to decrease the defects generated in it s
products. With the help of statistical principles, it can minimize the number of defective items
generated thus reducing wastage of resources and improving the efficiency of the system. But TQM
being an extensive study, it requires an in depth knowledge, to be implemented to notice effective
changes in the production or the defect ratio. For TQM to be implemented in the unit, all the
employees need to go through extensive training which might result in wastage of time resources as
well as there are chances of resistance to learn from the employees. In addition, it is a slow process, in
the sense, that direct results cannot be observed. Being a long process, it can not be used to correct the
necessary and immediate problems. TQM focuses on task standardization, which can discourage
creativity. Moreover, it requires a lot of resources being contributed to it s planning and
implementation not only making it resource consuming process but also an expensive one.
2. ISO 9000 series is a set of international standards which are developed in order to help companies
in the areas of quality assurance and quality management and to guide them in implementing

Comparing Neil Gaiman And The Wolves In The Walls
Neil Gaiman has a unique style of writing that is unlike any other writer of today. He is able to create
fantastical, eerie stories seems painfully real and largely humorous. However, the most interesting
quality about Gaiman and his writings is not his uniqueness, but his ability to use whatever medium of
print to its fullest. Whether it be the novel with The Graveyard Book, the children s book with The
Wolves in the Walls, or the graphic novel with The Sandman: Dream Country, Neil Gaiman expertly
uses the pages and text to be something quite meaningful to the readers. The works themselves are
distinctively Gaiman in tone and style, containing elements that continue to make him a popular
modern writer. These three works of Neil Gaiman explore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Graveyard Book s conclusion hinged on Bod s ability to think outside the box and defeat evil. The
Wolves in the Walls was essentially a celebration of childhood imagination. The Sandman: Dream
Country depicts dreams as the very thing that makes us humans different from the animal kingdom.
Good versus evil is a theme in all these works, even if somewhat heavy handed at times. There is Bod,
Scarlett, and the graveyard versus the Jacks of All Trade. Then, there is the family versus the wolves.
And then, there is Dream versus the evils within particular human beings. Good versus evil is a pretty
clear theme in all of the works, in which good always prevails. A much smaller theme in these works
is that of commitment. It is present in The Graveyard Book when whole graveyard commits to raising
Bod as a community. It is present in The Wolves in the Walls when the family as a whole returns to
their home to live and the wolves invaded. It is even present in The Sandman: Dream Country s A
Midsummer Night s Dream when William Shakespeare honors his promise to Dream about writing a
play for him. Lastly, one of the major themes that these works share is that everything must end. In
end of The Graveyard Book, Bod must leave his family and home to start his next journey in life. The
children s book The Wolves in the Walls was much less bleak with this theme, softening it by making
events more cyclical in

Lumbar Vertebral Column, An Amazing Part Of The Human Body
Lumbar Vertebral Fracture
The Vertebral column is an amazing part of the human body. It is made up of many different pieces
that all fit together to make something that keeps the body up right, allows movement, supports weight
and protects the spinal cord. There are four different segments of the spinal cord. One of those
segments is called the lumbar region. The lumbar region consists of 5 vertebrae that make up the
lower back (Lippert, 2011). The lumbar region supports most of the body weight and allows
movement. People often do not realize how important the vertebral column is until it is already
injured. Injury to the lumbar region can be caused from a vertebral fracture and can be very painful to
ones lower back.
Etiology
Lumbar Vertebral Fractures, also known as a compression fractures are caused from a variety of
reasons. Some of the causes can be from high impact trauma or diseases. Some vertebral fractures are
causes by high impact trauma occurring in motor vehicle accidents, long distance falls and sports
injuries. The diseases that can cause compression fractures are osteoporosis and spinal tumors.
Compression fractures can occur from bone insufficiency as well as falls, lifting and trunk motions,
such as flexion, extension, lateral bending and rotation (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
[AAOS], 2015). Osteoporosis is the main cause of compression fractures. Depending on the severity
of the fracture signs and symptoms include severe lower back pain,

So let me start by setting a scene for something that you can think about. You have had just about

that they found a great deal on a third party site when it comes to booking lodging. You decided to
book through Expedia without checking the hotel web page. You booked the room and you think what
a great deal, but was it a great deal? What can third party sites have room rate lower than the hotels are
advertising. Are you paying the same fee that you would be paying if you book through the hotel?
During this paper I am going to discuss a current issue that is being brought in front a court of law.
The issue that I will be dissing is Hotel Occupancy Tax Should Orbitz, Priceline and other pay the tax
on the rate they buy the room for, or on the retail re sale value of the room. The war is on in the
courtroom. What is Occupancy and what is an Occupancy Tax? Well Occupancy in the world of
lodging has to deal with the amount of guest you have staying at your establishment. To find out the
occupancy or what it is also call the occupancy rate you take the number of rooms that you

Ethics of Maternal Care
Recent legal movements and rules are being placed within the practice of maternal mothers with focus
on the protection of the fetus as a separate entity from the woman. These legalities are said to question
the rights of the pregnant woman about her own medical care and decisions. The new protective
actions for the fetus will enforce criminal charges on women who behave in a way that is associated
with fetal harm or adverse perinatal outcomes. The ethical dilemmas with maternal decision making
are being approached because it constrains the pregnant woman s decision making by punishing them
which erode a woman s basic rights to privacy and body integrity. (ACOG, 2011) The technological

The cases above outline the need for testing of post partum mothers, but a caregiver may encounter
complications of obtaining consent from the new mother. In regards to prenatal testing, physicians
have neither an obligation nor a right to perform prenatal testing. It is important to maintain the health
of the fetus, but supersedes a woman s autonomous choice. A person who is trying to override a
maternal patient s decision must remember that medical judgments in obstetrics are not perfect. A case
in June of 1987 where the hospital retrieved a court order for a cesarean delivery stating independent
rights for the fetus because a mother was critically ill with cancer and the fetus was at 25 weeks

of Columbia stated the courts had erred in subordination her right to bodily integrity in factor of the
state s interested in potential life. (ACOG, 2011) Studies performed present results that in one third of
case s related to obstetric interventions that were court ordered, the medical judgment was incorrect. A
suggested example of obstetric care is the management of risk associated with shoulder dystocia in the
possible birthing of a fetal Macrosomia. The concern for practioners when making recommendations

  • 2. Haber Process Essay Tejas Gandesha Ms. Rajeev Science 10 Tuesday, October 24, 2017 Haber Process One World Essay The Haber Process, also known as the Haber Bosch Process, was discovered in the first half of the 20th Century, by a man named Fritz Haber. The Haber could be considered to be a very high on technological advance/discovery in the past 100 years. The world has had many mixed opinions on Fritz Haber and his development of the Haber Process. The manufacture of Ammonia has a lot of history and science behind it, it has impacted our history as well as our present day, mainly in our environment. Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, two German Chemists, developed the Haber Process, in the early 1900s, as ammonia was very difficult to produce on a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though, 80% of ammonia produced is used in agriculture for fertilizers (Ammonia, Wikipedia), it is also used for refrigerant gas, to purify water supplies, and in the manufacturing of explosives, fabrics, pesticides and many other chemicals (health.ny.gov). Ammonia is a in house hold cleaning supplies. The cleaning solution for bigger projects, industrial use contains larger amounts of ammonia and will cause irritation. There also have been some negative uses, thoughts, and effects of the Haber Process. With the Haber Process, the nitrogen cycle is thrown off track, and it creates an imbalance, due to that large amount of extraction from our atmosphere. To complete the process, there is a high fossil fuel input, as you require 400 550oC and that uses a lot of energy. When ammonia enters the body, due to breathing, it sometimes reacts with water to produce ammonium hydroxide. This is very corrosive chemical and has been known to damage cells in the body that it comes in contact with. During World War 1, the Germans took the research used by the German Chemists, to kill troops that were stuck in trenches, with Ammonia poisoning. Every good thing comes with a side of bad effects, and Haber and Bosch s discovery had almost a full serving of bad. Though we still use ammonia in our day to day lives, as well has for industrial purposes, there are many ways that it has impacted us negatively. One of the biggest subject that has ... • 3. Religious War Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a warrior in the holy wars? Well, you mightn t want to. These wars included lots of torment and bloodshed of the religious leaders. These oppositions of religion were entirely wrong. Religious leaders showed hatred and anger to other religions, resulting in them having wars. To begin with, two of the three religions that were fighting in the religious war were against slaughter and murder. As stated in the Ten Commandments of the Torah, Thous shalt not kill. They all should ve listened to this commandment, but, instead, they attacked each other . On the other hand, people might say, The religions fighting in the wars were just defending themselves. Said quote could most likely be wrong, though, because someone would ve had to start these wars in the first place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This evidence explains to us that the leaders of the religions were against each other s beliefs. Others might say, however, Their ideas probably just conflicted with each other. • 4. Foster Care And Adoption Is More Common Than Not Children roam around in schools, at work, on the playground, in the malls, and anywhere else a child would like to be. Young children are often accompanied by an adult, of which one would assume to be their parents or primary caregivers. In 2007 forty eight million americans had considered adoption. Foster care has a goal, it is to help children in need be safe for the time being and try to reunited these children with their biological parents. Believe it or not foster care and adoption is more common than not. Many myths go around making children dread the system when in all reality the system is a support system there to help those children in need. Once the child is in a placement with a foster family, their ultimate goal is to provide the child in a safe, loving, nurturing environment until then can be reunified with their parents. These children get use to their foster family, some even grow rather fond of them and are attached, is it right to take away the only family they have ever really truly known? This can cause emotional arousal and distress on the child and the foster family. There are many people in the world who for some reason do have have the ability to have children. This does not mean they should not be a parent or that they cannot be a parent. Many of these families consider being foster parents or even adopting children so they can experience parenthood. Not everyone is meant to be a foster parents, although it is relatively easy to become a foster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of The Progressive Era Working only to die or lose a limb, being a woman with no voice, and dealing with unsanitary meat and food has never been the ideal lifestyle. The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States from 1890 to the 1920 s. The main objectives of the progressive movement were eliminating problems caused by industrialization, urbanization, immigration and corruption in government (Progressive Era). Yet people in the Progressive Era fought to change abuses with things like working conditions by going on strike or forming groups like labor unions, the 19th amendment to help women in America have the right to vote, and things like the pure food and drug act and the meat inspection act to protect the consumers. People went on strike meaning they stopped going to work to change the work conditions. They felt if there was no workers there was no factories, they wanted better conditions and going on strike was the start to this. Women also went on strike they protested until the Nineteenth Amendment was passed. Lastly 2 food acts were passed to protect the consumers from the meat that was causing illness and death. Despite previous arguments the progressive era was no joke nothing about it was okay until the people were able to get reform laws changed. During the time of 1900 1917 working conditions in America were horrible. President Theodore Roosevelt had championed the conservation movement to save human lives (progressive era ... Donald Blumberg is a contemporary American photographer born in 1935. In his early carrier, his work focused on street photography; later on he developed his own style showing mass media, identity and consumerism. His black and white photographs explore space, politics and surrounding us culture. The exhibition is divided in sections, showing different periods of time and subjects that Blumberg was interested in at that time. His earlier work in the 60 s shows streets of New York City, both urban areas as people living there. What s interesting in his work is that he not only captured everyday life, but also signs, advertisements and newspapers, which give us more information about past events. His street photography resulted in an amazing series In Front of Saint Patrick s Cathedral . He used the black of the cathedral doorway as a frame to photograph people emerging from the church. He used a long exposure to black out any detail inside of the cathedral, and concentrated on the people. The success of the series is in an unexpected angles and composition he used. Sometimes he would put all the people clustered in a corner or show only heads on the edge of a photo. His work is very high contrast and dynamic. • 8. Social Class In Madame Bovary In the novel Madame Bovary, Flaubert drew attention to the concept of social class and studiously built all the characters according to their place in the communal hierarchy. Housekeepers, nurses, and footmen, were representatives of the lower class people, who served a purpose of aiding the middle class families, including the Bovary s. The higher class consisted of Rodolphe (the wealthy aristocrat) and the guests we were introduced to at the ball earlier on in the book. The novel s protagonist, Emma Bovary, who was educated in a convent and raised in the country, was undoubtedly categorized as a middle class woman, yet whether or not that was her rightful status is the overriding question. Emma married Charles at a young age in an attempt to detach herself from the mediocre way of life at the farm, yet he failed to live up to the fanatical romance and sophistication her novels set. Whether it be getting work done or doing something for fun everyone has a goal in a group. The reason why people come together to form a group is usually one they cannot achieve alone. Playing a game alone makes it reasonably boring but with other people involved makes the game more fun. Unlike most discourse communities the players in the game Dota 2 do not do a physical activity. Older Timers within the group you can usually pick out because they have a more negative view on the game and are harsh to get onto people for doing something that was out of sorts. A new player usually is very positive starting out and is very open minded about what they can do. This usually fades after a month of playing the game. You also can tell who s a new player based on what they buy and how they play. I ve had the luxury of interviewing a young teen that is on a small, competitive team. When the teen was asked why does he play Dota 2 he responded, at first I played it because it looked interesting, but nearly 1000 hours later, I play because I know so much about the game it makes it more fun to make decisions; plus I like playing with friends. This concludes that not all players play necessarily for the bragging rights of just being good , players play to be able to have a fun activity with their friends or just simply make friends. It s ridiculously easy to make friends in game considering if you do, these people see you from when you started to where you currently are now. The Case Of Harvey And Capability Limited The Case of Harvey and Capability Limited Before analysing, Harvey needs to be advised that there are two known clauses that exist in a contract; limitation clause and exclusion clause. He needs to understand that there is a difference between both of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that is relied on in a contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. This can only be used as an indicator for Harvey to recognise their differences, but, it will not be explained any further as the enquiry made is only related to exclusion clause. Capability Limited is a private limited company that has subcontracted a sole proprietor, Reckless Enterprise. As the damages were done by Reckless Enterprise, with the matter of who is liable to pay for it, the court needs to look deep into the consequences of Capability Limited and how Reckless Enterprise was included in the Memorandum as a third party. Exclusion Clauses If the contract is breached, the party relying on the exclusion clauses will not be responsible for paying for any damages (Treitel, 1995). Boats were and can be passed down through families, and how most people were brought into fishing, was from helping their fathers as a summer job with very little pay which led to them fishing on their own. Fishing was good (back then) there was a lot of fish around but because of overfishing the stocks declined. Fishermen fished for in the area are pollock, haddock, cod fish, herring, halibut and lobster. At one time there was a lot of pollock around and according to https://www.seafoodhealthfacts.org/seafood choices/description top.../alaska pollock pollock were caught by gillnets, which are nets that are set on the ocean floor and were hauled daily. One reason is that many nations have lower costs of production based upon a lower standard of living, cheap labor, inexpensive raw materials, protective government policy, etc. Multinationals who have moved their plants to foreign locations enjoy the best of both worlds inexpensive manufacturing costs and unlimited access to the world s biggest consumer market, the USA. The foreign entity received a like amount of American goods or services. The trade books are balanced. All monies earned interest every step of the way. The U.S. didn t allow inexpensive foreign goods to displace American goods on price alone. It made the foreign goods compete on a quality basis with American goods. American consumers will make the choice of which is better at a comparable price. If the foreign goods are really superior to the American goods, then the foreign manufacturer will have earned an increased share of the world market and the U.S. manufacturer or ag producer will have to get more competitive or go out of business. The reverse is also true so the free market and the law of supply and demand still gets a chance to work, but it works on the basis of quality and value, not upon inherent differences in world standards of living. The Essence Of Being A Leader 3 Focus on the essence of being a leader Being a leader is not a position you gain; it s not about having a special title or a specific role within an organisation. Being a leader is about behaviour and actions. You can be a leader even if you aren t at a senior level at an organisation and you can find examples of people who call themselves leaders because of their position of power, but who in fact act more like bosses. Whatever you do, always remember the essence of being a leader: sharing your vision with people and inspiring them to follow your cause. Examine different leaders, listen to them sharing their wisdom and discover the characteristics, skills and traits that make them successful at what they do. You can find many resources on leadership and being a leader. One great way is to watch interviews. For example, the YouTube clip below has Richard Branson sharing his views on the essential quality of a leader: Use the information and experience to develop your own leadership style and strategy. Identify your strengths and weaknesses as a leader, utilising them as part of your chosen style. By understanding your own behaviour and how it influences your abilities as a leader, you can continue developing your skills. But more important is how it can help you realise how its your behaviour that defines your success as a leader, not your place within an organisation s hierarchy. You can t be complacent and expect people the look up to you as a leader when you gain a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beside internal factors, we examine the external factors, Opportunities and Threats, of KBRA. The incumbent credit raters fail in the financial crisis gave an opportunity for new rating agencies like KBRA. After the financial crisis, the government and the investors realized the importance of appropriate corporate credit rating. The government might tend to subsidize newly established rating organizations and create new regulations for credit rating in order to eliminate the oligopoly of three big financial agencies. KBRA benefits from such environment. Also, it is easier for small or new rating agencies like KBRA to apply a new revenue model under revised regulations. After the financial crisis, many new rating agencies announced their entry into the credit rating business. Many of them were prominent to the public and owned a great quantity of resource. The entering of new firms made the credit rating industry competitive and thus posed a threat on KBRA. The Failures of Incumbent Credit Raters The incumbent credit raters had received severe criticism following the collapse in creditworthiness and prices of mortgage and asset backed securities during the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009. Diagnostic blood and urine tests can prove to be beneficial in helping the provider make such a tough decision. The contrast used in the cardiac catheterization can harm the function of the kidneys, and it can push the patient from acute to chronic renal failure, which can influence quality of life as well as morbidity and mortality. When a patient has chest pain, the nurse practitioner should perform a thorough assessment to ensure the angina is cardiac related and not from another source, such as pleuritic chest pain or muscular chest pain (Grossman Porth, 2014). • 22. Secret And Forbidden Love In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The... Jordan Hendrickson Mr. Foster AP English 11 2nd period December 15, 2017 Title Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The Scarlet Letter is a story of secret and forbidden love as well as the cause and effect of this forbidden love, the setting is a Puritan colony in Boston, Massachusetts around 1750. The main character Hester Prynne, a God fearing Puritan living within this community, gets caught in the act of adultery when she is discovered to be with child whilst having no husband. During this era, the punishment for adultery forced the adulteress or adulterer to wear a scarlet letter A upon their bosom. While staying in prison, following the discovery of her sin, Hester gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, which she named Pearl. Although some may choose to look upon pearl as a gift from the devil, or as a rotten curse, Pearl grows to become a reflection of both individual and collective human conscience, a personification of the scarlet letter, and a symbol of light. Pearl represents a physical form of many character s consciences throughout the novel. For instance, she is the voice of the collective conscience within her community when she points the crooked finger at Hester in the forest. Everywhere Hester goes, Pearl must follow and so she is a constant reminder to Hester that she must wear the scarlet letter at all times, while on their walk in Chapter 16, Pearl tells her mother that the sunshine does not (274) love her and it runs away and hides itself (274)because it is afraid of the letter. However, after Hester has cast off the letter A Pearl refuses to come to her. Pearl often highlights and brings attention to Hester s scarlet letter by inquiring about its purpose, this shows that while she may represent the conscience of those around her, she is still a little girl trying to understand the world around her. Pearl is not only of manifestation of a community conscience but she is most importantly a physical manifestation of Arthur Dimmesdale s conscience. She sees most clearly his inner desires and she is attracted to him from the beginning. During their first encounter when Pearl is still practically a newborn, she reaches for Dimmesdale, and while he notices he does not give any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the past few months I have partaken in a residential construction internship building custom homes and renovations through a non profit organization for veterans and the elderly. Internship Orientation and Preparation My internship began on August 17th. Throughout the first 2 weeks there was another intern at the company. Throughout those two weeks the other intern mentored me and gave me advice to have a successful internship and how the company functioned. When the next intern starts his internship in the spring, I will take the role as a mentor for a week as well. Having a fellow intern prepare you and tell you what to expect created a better transition into the internship. Early in the internship, my boss made it clear that I would be spending most of the day with him either at the office or out in the field. In preparation for work every day, I recommend dressing in comfortable yet professional clothing. On certain days we met with the owners of our projects, so it was essential to be presentable. In today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly, international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding; again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. (Bigliardi, Eleonora, Roberto, Giuseppe, 2010). In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products that are well aligned to target customer needs. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of evolution of design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of NPD models are identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of models, NPD process was perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to simplify innovation activities. (Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010) proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24 activities flow diagram appropriate for non industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model for industrial goods. Another model proposed during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third generation of NPD models, which involves moving a new product from idea to launch mainly incorporating discipline into a process. Even though there exist differences across various models, in terms of the activities recognised, each theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly similar. Most of the stage based models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having feedback loops between each activity. New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Total quality management(TQM) is defined as a system of management based on the principle that every member of a company must contribute towards improving and maintaining the standards of work in every aspect of the company s operations. It is not only customer focused but requires total employee involvement along with a focus on process control. A strategic and systematic fact based decision approach is required for the continuous improvement of the company. The start of TQM is marked by the introduction of scientific management principles in 1920s. But TQM being an extensive study, it requires an in depth knowledge, to be implemented to notice effective changes in the production or the defect ratio. For TQM to be implemented in the unit, all the employees need to go through extensive training which might result in wastage of time resources as well as there are chances of resistance to learn from the employees. In addition, it is a slow process, in the sense, that direct results cannot be observed. Being a long process, it can not be used to correct the necessary and immediate problems. TQM focuses on task standardization, which can discourage creativity.
