dive bombers, horizontal bombers, and fighters; as it was an unexpected attack in the hours before
dawn U.S. Navy Vessels spotted an unidentified submarine near the entrance to pearl harbor. That very
same submarine was attacked and reported as sunk by the navy destroyer U.S.S. Ward. One of the
United States patrol plane s reported to an operator at the Army Radar Station at Opama. The pilot
said the first wave of attack is on it s way . The officer in charge did not act upon the pilot s
information reason being of vague information. The officer took caution in making any judgments on
what to do so he put the entire military base on standby. According to the radar sightings the planes
were passed off as American Planes due for landing at Pearl Harbor Military Base. The purpose of the
wave of attack was to destroy our aircrafts so they would not rise and intercept their fighters and
bombers, also twenty one ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet was sunk or damaged.

Descartes Three Forms Of The Cogito Argument
Descartes believes that we experience the world through our senses and that because of defective
nature doubt, the only thing we know for certain is our minds. Dreyfus does not agree because he
believes that we experience the world directly and that telepresence is not a realistic concern.
Descartes defective nature doubt is plausible because the development technology has the potential to
satisfy Dreyfus s conditions for advanced telepresence and we could then call into question our
everyday experiences. In this paper, I will discuss Descartes three forms of doubt, the cogito argument
and its relationship to epistemology. I will also discuss the three conditions that, according to Dreyfus,
must be met by telepresence in order for it to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does he not consider that technology could advance far enough that a machine could satisfy these
conditions? It is extremely possible that technology will make it almost impossible to distinguish an
actual experience from a simulated experience. We have already come very close to simulating
maximum grip through laparoscopic surgery. A transparent display system, high resolution image and
wide field of view, multiple feedback channels, and consistent information shared between them are
needed to stimulate the senses into experiencing a level of telepresence (9). It seems realistic to
conceive of a piece of technology that is capable of refining these qualities to create the most realistic
experience possible. In addition, it is very likely that as we spend more time in simulated realities, we
will forget what these conditions feel like. Functioning indirectly through technology has the potential
to become the norm and our body in the world experiences will start to be questioned (13).
Advancements in technology discussed seem almost inconceivable using the information we have
now. However, wasn t the same thought a hundred years ago about the technology we have today?

Impact Of The King Of Jazz
INTRODUCTION The term King of Jazz was widely use at Jazz Age. 1920s, James Reese Europe
and Paul Whiteman have been labelled as King of Jazz by mass media as they had done something
very significant in jazz history. This term, King of Jazz, also allowed them being recognised and
discussed a lot by public at that time, their music also being concerned and heard by a lot of people.
Although most of the society agreed on them, criticisms still occurred. Those criticisms came from
black musicians who thought they were only the real musicians and their music were the only real
Jazz. James Reese Europe was prominent in emerging black musical in theatre, he led the very first all
black musicians orchestra to performance in Carnegie Hall. Whereas Paul Whiteman had organised
An Experiment in Modern Music that intended to make a lady out of jazz at the time. Mass media or
even their publicity team used the term, King of Jazz, to arouse the crowds and evoke their concern
about jazz music. Although it was such a big issue at that time, presence of Louis Armstrong, Duke
Ellington and Miles Davis made people forgot about them and what they had done in uprising jazz
music. By reading this research paper, reader should awake their appreciations towards their

Analysis Of The Article New Avon Ceo Vows
Article Summary
In the article, New Avon CEO vows to restore the 126 year old beauty company to former glory, Jenna
Goudreau (2013) interviews Avon CEO, Sheri McCoy, on the current issues facing Avon Products
around the world and the results of management transitions in the company.
Over the past few years, Avon s stock and net income has declined as a result of misplaced focus in
different areas throughout the company. Under the former CEO, Andrea Jung, the company had an
internal focus, was expanding too fast, and failed to recognize the needs of consumers in different
markets. Under the new CEO, Avon is improving by focusing more on sales representatives, cutting
jobs, reducing spending, and pulling out of failing markets. Additionally, they are incorporating
information systems and social media as selling tools, catering to individual markets, and foregoing
other growth areas until the core business is stable. With these improvements, Avon expects that it will
see a turnaround in the coming years.
AVON SWOT ANALYSIS

Computer Crime Essay
Running head: COMPUTER CRIME
Categories of Computer Crime
S.R Skolnick
Strayer University
In today s society computers are used to commit crimes. These crimes are separated into four
categories. These categories are as follows, the computer as a target, the computer as an instrument of
crime, the computer as incidental to a crime, and crimes associated with the prevalence of computers.
In example of the computer as a target, is a case of Kevin Mitnick. Kevin Mitnick was once known as
the world s most wanted social engineering computer hacker. From the 1970s up to his arrest in 1995,
Mitnick was able to elude them bypass corporate security safeguards. Mitnick was able to get into
some of the well guarded systems in the corporate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These crimes will include but not limited to money laundering, criminal enterprise, child pornography,
and will ring victims into compromising situations.
In this category crimes associated with the prevalence of computers, the crimes include intellectual
property violations, component that, counterfeiting, identity theft, and a number of corporate offenses.
In this category intellectual property violations are described as piracy. Piracy includes the illegal
downloading of music and movies. I believe the category of the computer as a target presents the
greatest overall threat at this present time. The reasons for this is, computers as a target for instance
computer hacking. Computer hacking enables people with this ability to access our nation s defense
system. With this being said, this becomes a national security issue. Secondly, computer as a target
enables people what this ability, to commit identity theft. As we know identity theft is on the rise.
Identity theft causes millions and millions of dollars to be stolen or used by cyber criminals. These
crimes make it very difficult for the victims to get everything back to normal before their identities
were stolen. In this day and age, computers and the Internet have made criminals into better criminals,
while law enforcement, US government, and the court systems are back in the game playing catch up.
Law enforcement does not have

This video shows the reunion of a Belgian Malinois Pretty and her previous trainer, and friend being
reintroduced after a year or more of separation. The video is rather short but the response from Pretty
when she lays her eyes on Bryan is remarkable. Pretty, immediately recognizes Bryan and runs too
him and jumps on him overjoyed to see him once again. This video takes place outside somewhere
and pretty is being led by a young woman to Bryan as soon as Pretty recognizes her wanting for her,
she immediately responds abundant jovialness. In fact, Pretty clings to Bryan for almost the entire

comments apparently she is being trained for Police duty since she did not go into heat and the only
time she had been in heat was when she was with Bryan. It maybe that she was suffering from
depression being separated from Bryan, but that is of course my speculation. Anyhow, in my opinion,
this is the best example of social awareness and intelligence recognizing and showing love for
someone you missed. You can tell she loves him since she is standing upright embracing and
vigorously wagging her tail. In addition to that, she is panting heavily showing extreme excitement
about finally being reunited with Bryan. The main reason I choose this video was that is showed
remembrance and pleasure upon seeing somebody who they had missed and had nothing to do with
training. Numerous videos that show the dogs, putting up laundry and following an owners gaze to a
toy, is most likely the product of training. However, a greeting like Pretty is subtle evidence of social

National Football League (NFL) has shown their love for the team along with all the referees and fans.
Makes sense because of the market that the team gives the league. Tom Brady being the greatest

Response To Intervention Essay
RTI, is an acronym that has become commonly used in education after No Child Left Behind was
implemented, but what does that acronym mean? Brown Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a
school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means really terrific instruction! RTI is defined
differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say that it
means Response to Instruction. Brown Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say intervention or
instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based teaching that
responds to students learning.
There are several benefits of RTI. First, according to the Nebraska RTI website, research states that

According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI is
to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the district,
then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that consists of an
administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school psychologist. Next, a
universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS, should be administered
three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to assist with the understanding
of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction.
According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to
provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving
approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students.
The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports.
Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should
implement a universal screener to check for students learning. The goal is for districts to achieve at
least eighty percent of students meeting benchmark. If the student does not meet benchmark, then the

Informative Essay On Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil
The show is full of excitement, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, and it grasps your imaginations.
It s not like any other show you ve seen live. The circus brings to life wonderment only seen in
dreams. I ve only seen a circus in movies, and the acts mainly consist of uniquely appearing people
with special talents, clowns, and animal cruelty fueled performances. It intrigued me (not the animal
cruelty part of course). Therefore, I got the idea to find a circus that is alive and thriving today. What I
found is sensational; Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company that was co
founded in the 1984 at Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, Canada by Gilles Ste Croix and Guy Laliberté. It was
founded as a tour group for Quebec s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier s discovery of Canada.
Before then, the performances were simple; they walked on stilts, juggled, and breathed fire ( Cirque
du Soleil ). Today, Cirque du Soleil is known for its high flying acrobatics, death defying stunts, and
extravagant visuals. Their motto is to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the
emotions of people around the world, (Kingsford Smith). They combine their mesmerizing gymnastic
stunts with a theatre like performance that keeps the audience enticed all throughout their shows. ...

Moral Hierarchy In Antigone
There are many different moral levels that people have. People use reasoning that can be identified
with a particular stage on Kohlberg s moral development hierarchy. The higher stages of morality are
not usually achieved, according to Kohlberg. In a play called Antigone, one character, name Antigone,
has a high level of morality. In Antigone, written by Sophocles, he conveys various moral hierarchy
stages through character traits, reasoning, and moral development within this character Antigone is
portrayed as being morally straight and obedient to higher standards. She has a high moral standard.
For example, she argues to Ismene, He s my brother and yours too; and whether you will or not, I ll
stand by him. (Sophocles, ll 52 53). This is showing that she is very dedicated to her family. She will

Ethos is a type of reasoning that uses ethics. In this case, she says, I will stay with him, my brother;
and my crime will be devotion. (Sophocles, ll 89 90). Basically Antigone feels that serving her brother
is more important than obeying the law. This is showing that she places higher importance on moral
ethics than human laws. In another instance, Antigone states, Haven t you heard? Don t you see hatred
marches on love when friends, our own people, our family are treated as enemies? (Sophocles, ll 12
15). In short, she is saying that hatred is ruining her love for her brother in that Kreon is treating
Polyneices like an enemy by not giving him a proper burial. This goes against Antigone s views which
are that her brother deserves a burial regardless of what he did in his lifetime. This reasoning tells us
that Antigone has high levels of morality her standards prove her maturity. This type of reasoning puts
her at the fifth stage of Kohlberg s moral development hierarchy, which is social contract and
individual rights. Antigone has proven to be at a very high moral state throughout this

Summary Of God s Grandeur
Conflict among contexts of the Victorian era, Catholicism and Gerard Manley Hopkins, has shaped
Hopkins distinctive poetic exploration of religious faith in his poems. However, paradoxically he also
challenges the role religion has played in making Victorians repress their natural desires, which
compels them to doubt God s ability. These are clearly evidenced in two of his famous Petrarchan
sonnets, the nature poem, God s Grandeur (1877), and the terrible sonnet , Carrion Comfort (1885
1887), both were written in Victorian late 19th century. Even though Hopkins never doubts the
presence of God, his poems explore the divergence between God s glory and the decline of Christian
belief.

This poem depicts the Holy Ghost is a dove, which broods over the world and protects its inhabitants
with its Bright wings , highlights the perfection and balance of the natural world as Hopkins has the
faith that there is always a saviour who can guard and guide humans out of their doubts. Despite
Hopkins negative view on the impact of man s progression, he remains his faith of God s protective
divinity and also tries to influence his religious faith on other people who doubt the God.
Conflict between Hopkins context of being homosexual, and Victorian England and Catholicism s
conservative sexual contexts, demonstrates Hopkins struggles in his conviction of faith through
Carrion Comfort . At the end of the first stanza, he highlights the struggle of his experience during his
depression through the use of first person, cry I can no more , which emphasises his loss of faith and
starts to doubt himself as he s exhausted by depression and unable to struggle further. At the end of the
phrase, he paradoxically asserts I can , which captures that humans always contradict themselves as
they are afraid of shame and guilt due to society norms, such as the extreme repressing homophobia in
Victorian era and Catholicism that Hopkins faced. The paradox also reveals that Hopkins still has faith
within himself and God as at the beginning of second stanza, conveys his faith through the interior
monologue hope, wish day come . Hopkins use of rhetorical

Assess whether or not the changes in the structure of the...
Assess whether or not the changes in the structure of the UK industry have been beneficial for the
economy, industries and the consumer.
Over the past 30 years the structure of the UK economy has been transformed. By this I mean there
has been changes in the production and employment between the primary, secondary and tertiary
sectors.
In 1964, 1,201,000 people were employed in the primary sector. By 1995 there were only 383,000
people employed in the primary sector. This shows a decrease of 818,000 employees over 31 years.
This was mainly due to a contraction of output in the coal mining industries, and the collapse of oil
prices in 1986, further contributing toward the declining industry.
The second change in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to this limited availability there was a sharp increase in price, causing the demand to fall, and the
demand for substitutes to increase. As a result there was a decline in output and employment. A prime
example is steel, the substitute being aluminium. International competition had a dramatic affect on
UK structure.
Changing consumer tastes, the creation of new products and the changing comparative costs result in
the redistribution of economic activity around the world. For example the Japanese were able to
produce more reliable motorcycles at a cheaper cost and therefore there was a decline in the UK
motorcycle industry, because Japan had a comparative advantage.
The membership of the EU meant some inevitable restructuring of the UK economy, in accordance
with European comparative advantages, as there were no trade restrictions within the EU (free trade,
no import duties). This lead to an increase in economic activity in the tertiary sector for the UK, where
it has a comparative advantage in banking and finance, (due to specialisation).
The maturity argument states that our changing economic structure simply reflects the changing
pattern of demand that follows from economic development. This statement argues that consumer
demand in a mature economy such as the UK shifts away from goods and towards services. The
capital stock in the UK grew more

Analysis Of The Article Propaganda Techniques On Today...
Why does the majority of American consumers fall prey to the propaganda of advertisements, which
subconsciously tricks them into believing outrageous claims? To answer this question, we must first
understand: what does advertising means, and how these advertiser companies use propaganda to
seduce us follow their tricks. Advertising is the act of presenting an idea or product to consumers or
audience by using television, radios, social media, or street posters. In the article Propaganda
Techniques in Today s advertising, Ann McClintock describes different types advertising techniques in
her essay that are used currently by the advertisers and by the politicians. The most efficient and
useful propaganda that are used by contemporary advertising companies and politicians are glittering
generalities and bandwagon.
Nowadays most politicians are using false messages that are deeply attached to our feelings, but it
really does not mean anything. One of the most common propaganda that politicians use is glittering
generality. In this propaganda technique; they use emotional phrases to attract their audience. In the
article Propaganda techniques in Today s Advertising the author gives an example of how politicians

Symbols In The Bloody Chamber
The presentation of gifts is an important aspect of modern day relationships, with the entire fourteenth
of February dedicated to the exchange of chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. These presents are meant to
serve as tokens of affection; symbolic of the devotion between lovers. However, Angela Carter
presents these same gifts as obstacles that mediate the interactions between a couple, often to the
detriment of the relationship. In her modern reimagining of The Grimm s Fairy Tales, The Bloody
Chamber, Angela Carter perverts these symbolic displays of love to illustrate that a relationship
mediated by gifts, masks, and secrets will suffer the consequences. The gifts exchanged in these
stories act as barriers between lovers, obscuring each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is
smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the
walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified and
multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an image
bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands approach
[her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and again, she is
forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of her husband are
altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes, reborn in
unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20). Within the
same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power of undistorted
perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations. While it is ironic
that the blind man sees the clearest, it proves that the lack of mediation does not refer only to sight.
His blindness and correlated success also highlights the issues the mirrors caused with the Marquis
because he cannot fall prey to the secondary

Polar Bear Arguments
The Ursus Maritimus, otherwise known as the polar bear, has walked this planet with their massive
webbed paws for hundreds of years. They have sustained many different difficulties in life but the
most recent issue, global warming, is one that these animals just might not overcome on their own.
The polar bear s population is rapidly dwindling and scientists discuss why exactly we should save
these giant white sea bears. There are two different sides to this argument. One side is referred to as
the Naturalists. These people believe we need to let nature take its course. They believe we should not
interfere, and instead let the animals and the ecosystem work on its own. On the other hand, the Anti
Naturalists believe we must step in and help preserve the polar bear population. They believe that we
cannot let the Ursus Maritimus die out for a various array of reasons.
The first reason for saving the polar bears given by the Anti Naturalists is the effect on the food chain.
In the artic, the polar bear is one of the few creatures at the very top, it is a keystone species. Polar
bear s diets consist mainly of one specific marine mammal, the seal. Without the polar bear the entire
population of the seal would rise significantly. With no predators to lower the population there would
be a skyrocket amount of growth and a very small amount of death. This means that the diet of the
seal, which mainly consists of small fish and plankton, would also be affected negatively. A large

Wells Fargo Corporate Bond
The mortgages and corporate bonds have similarity in trading, however the risk/reward are different.
Mortgage bonds is a bond backed by a mortgage or pool of mortgage typically backed by real estate or
physical equipment that can be liquidated. The mortgage Bondholder has the right to sell property to
compensate in the case if the bond defaults. These type of mortgage bond are generally considered
high grade and safe investments. A corporate bond is a debt security issued by a corporation typically
backed by the ability of the company to make payment, which is typically driven by the money earned
from the future operation. Also, there are few cases where the company s physical assets may be used

interest rate from 4.375% to 4.5% in October 2013 which shows 0.375% to 0.5% difference between
the homeowner rate and the bond rate. The majority of the extra interest is paid monthly to the
mortgage bond service and mortgage insurer such as Fannie Mea or Freddie Mac. Now the Mortgage
bond is grouped together, assigned a structure, assigned mortgage service and guaranteed by the
mortgage insurer it becomes a tradable bond. Goldman Sac can sell the bond to Vanguard fund which
can earn 4% on its investment. If the interest rate goes down and people refinance at the lower rate

The Four Psychodynamic Theories
In the four major theories of personality one of these theories is psychodynamic. Psychodynamic
personality theory focuses on the role of the unconscious mind in the development of personality. In
Freud s study, one of the advantages that prove to be present in psychodynamic theory is its ability to
recognize there is subconscious and how it has impact on one s life. As well, it brought the importance
that childhood experiences have an effect on an individual s life. For example, many of Freud s
patients proved this case when discussing the effects of being sexually abused as a child altered their
way of living. However, one of the disadvantages of this theory would be its claim that human
behavior is pre determined and individuals do not have free will. For instance, the psychosexual stages
that Freud claim that lead to the end result personality of an individual. Furthermore, another
personality theory that is a part of the major four theories would be trait theories. Trait theories are less
concerned with explanation for personality development and changing personality than they are with
describing personality and predicting behavior based on observation. One of the advantages that are

A refugee is defined as an individual who has been forced to leave their country due to political or
religious reasons, or due to threat of war or violence. There were 19.5 million refugees worldwide at
the end of 2014, 14.4 million under the mandate of the United Nations High Commissioner for

Despite the efforts of parents to keep traditions alive, children are changing, fighting over food,
clothing and anything of any value. Many children feel like they are prisoners in their host countries.
Many are not allowed to leave their homes due to safety concerns and chores that need to be
completed. Twenty nine percent of Syrian refugees leave their home less than once a week. In many
cases, multiple families are crammed into the same, often one roomed house. People who held jobs,
and often led successful lives now live off of handouts, or by working odd jobs. Many children have
been out of school for over two years, and there is no opportunity to begin school in their host country.
Last year, over 40% of elementary children dropped out of school due to the civil war and resulting
displacement. With no job and no opportunity of education for their children, there is little hope for
those who have fled Syria. Aside from the difficulty of finding a place within a school, many children
are also expected to work and to help provide for their families, as many parents cannot find a job.
Many go to school all day, and then work night shifts at restaurants or factories. Many children are
often exposed to extremely long working hours, dangerous types of work and many are exposed to
illegal activities. Those that do manage to go to school are faced with harsh discrimination, and often
segregation. The parents of Jordanian and Lebanese

The Computational Theory Of Mind By Steven Pinker
The computational theory of mind explains that our brains are made of information processors. Every
part of brain neuron s axon and molecules, all these nerve cell s propose is to be an information
carrier. The neurons are like sophisticated chips and with billion of neurons, you ended up with one
powerful computational device, which is brain. Brain is one hunk of matter that is intelligent things
that allows human beings to have cognitive equipment to processes of human perception, problem
solving, and decision making. The demons is a system that contains a memory and reflexes. These
demons are triggered by information and connected to sense. The mind is a product of natural
selection and in that sense, the mind is our ancestor s past. Our ancestor s beliefs and desires are
information, as part of our brain. The computational theory of mind allows us to keep this information
(beliefs and desires) in our explanations of behavior. By doing this, the meaning ended up to cause and
be cause. Steven Pinker believed that computational theory of mind came about through natural
selection in order for our ancestors to solve and problems with the new conditions such as figuring out
of how to defeat the plants and animals defenses before they counteract. The software that we
inherited from our ancestor has ability of natural computation due to the goals and desires that are
preprogrammed. Our minds are calculating the costs and benefits of decisions with our ancestor s past

Legal Rights Of The United Nations Essay
The most expected result of lack of ability to exercise one s legal rights would mean that one has the
rights but lacks the power to exercise them. Practically granting of rights is the law s recognition of
the validity of a person s choices. Legal rights give authority for people to act within the framework of
the legal system and makes a human being a subject of the law. Article 3 of the ICCPR mandates
member states to promote the realization of the right to self determination and to respect that right in
conformity with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations. In Kenya the age of majority is
18 years and most people believe that upon attaining the age of majority they will be able to make
their own decisions which will be respected. For most people adulthood automatically means the right
to become a self determining individual but this has not been so for women, who have been treated in
the past as objects to be managed as opposed to rights holders with their own interests and desires.
The previous marriage laws that were in 2014 merged into one document which is the Marriage Act
2014 had unfair provisions which tended to lean more towards the men. Under the Hindu Marriage
and Divorce Act, the notion of women not being free to make their own decisions comes out where it
is stated under section 3 of the Act that a marriage may be solemnized if the following conditions are
fulfilled;
(c) The bridegroom has attained the age of 18 years old and the bride the

Crucible Political Allegory
The Crucible is a play by American playwright, Arthur Miller. Miller is famous for his works on
relevant social issues portrayed in his plays, often through allegorical devices. Allegory is a common
device used in a wide variety of literature. I have developed the hypothesis that The Crucible is a
political allegory . I will critically review this with the focusing questions of What is a political
allegory? , How does The Crucible show elements of a political allegory? , and What can we learn
about modern society from the play? . To develop and informed critical understanding, other critical
responses must be analysed. My first response is The Liberal Conscience in The Crucible by Robert
Warshow. Warshow was a well respected critic who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that one of the important things about The Crucible is how universal it is. The fact it is political
allegory allows us view the true nature of what it represents, which is important when trying to
analyse modern issues and improve the human condition. In today s society we can draw a direct
parallel between the issues around LGBT rights in Uganda and the Salem trials. In Uganda we see
LGBT being actively persecuted. Newspapers print the names of those suspected of being LGBT and
these people are actively persecuted by both mobs, similar to the hysteric mob we see in various parts
of the Crucible, and also the law. Laws have been passed over there which have resulted in the courts
being able to issue the death penalty to those deemed LGBT. People have been known to blame others
for being LGBT just to try and lessen their on sentence or be let off. This is a modern witch hunt
happening currently. This supports the view of Warshow when he said there will always be witch
hunts (Warshow, 2008). Woolway brings up another modern equivalent when she raises the point of
the people in the US and UK who were accused of child abuse despite being innocent, as revealed
later. She said The episode has undertones of child abuse the accusation recalls recent cases in the U.S.
and Britain where allegations of abuse have been made against members of the community which
have later seemed to be untrue (Woolway, n.d.). Warshow s essay was originally written the same year
as The Crucible was published, so he doesn t have a more modern recollection of something
resembling the events of the crucible, but he seems to agree with both my own, and Woolway s
analysis with the statements ...we must not be misled by it s obvious contemporary relevance: it is
drama of universal significance and also ...which is why witch trials are always with us, especially
today . He seems to believe that witch hunts are a part of the human

Essay On The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The voting rights act of 1965 was designed to prohibit discrimination based on race, and requires
certain jurisdictions to prove bilingual assistance to language minority voters. The act banned the use
of literacy tests, provided for federal oversight of voter registration in areas where less than 50 percent
of the nonwhite population had not registered to vote. Still voting rights gave African American voters
the legal means to challenge voting restrictions and vastly improved voter turnout. In Mississippi
alone, voter turnout among blacks increased from 6 percent in 1964 to 59 percent in 1969. When the

Holden Caulfield Satire
J.D. Salinger s opinion of the world in The Catcher in the Rye shows both his hatred and fascination
for the ingenuine nature of society. Throughout the novel Holden Caufield is conflicted between
commenting on the phoniness of things around him, a heading under which he loosely lumps not only
insincerity but snobbery, injustice, callousness to the tears in things, and a lot more, (Behrman) and
the impulsive, self loathing mentality he portrays. Salinger utilizes many aspects of his own life and
displays them in the fluctuating character of Holden Caufield, showing his conflicted opinion on
society. At times, he expresses his self hatred towards the condescending attitude of the actions he
himself makes. The Catcher in the Rye s purpose is to prevent all the teenage angst and self loathing

Darwin s Theory Of Evolution Research Paper
While it is unfair to observe the relationships between Judaism and the theories surrounding Darwin s
evolution as a whole, it is however feasible to analyze evolutionary biology within a highly specific
sect and time period of Judaism. Interestingly, the topic of Darwinism and Judaism from the 19th
century to the present is an ongoing and subjective debate in the US. Throughout the past few
centuries, Judaism has been somewhat split along the issue of whether or not evolution is compatible
with Jewish laws and teachings. The most conservative (with a small c) Jewish rabbis and
philosophers argue that evolution poses a conflict with Jewish belief, while more moderate Jews argue
that both ideas can coexist. Within Orthodox Judaism minus the Hasidic, religious leaders have

Kaplan s liberal beliefs actually ended up forming the newer Reconstructionist movement in America.
In brief, God is the Power in the cosmos that gives human life the direction that enables the human
being to reflect the image of God. In Rabbi Kaplan s stance, God is literally the science behind
Darwin s theories of evolution. Kaplan s firm position of theistic evolution follows through throughout
the rabbis of Modern Orthodox Judaism. The common trend by Modern Orthodox Jews is to attempt
to create compromises that accept both progressive sciences and religion. The main concern with this
is that each and every topic must be settled through a case by case basis. For some of the larger issues,
such as evolutionary biology, each case must be dealt through by interpreting the Bible since evolution
cannot be interpreted. Darwin s theories are scientific truth, leaving no room for interpretation or
creative manipulation. In this case, rabbis must take the biblical text and find ways to integrate it into
science, lest there be

itself, or rather the events leading up to and immediately after, worth it, or are we truly to be judge by
our last worst act? In the eyes of many the US is a terroristic nation, but why do we take on the lion s
share of the blame for this incredible, truly terrible and horrific, but incredible act? Built in 1942, the
Boing B 29 Superfortress became one of the world s most famous and infamous aircraft when it
dropped the world s first nuclear bomb. It was crewed by twelve, the Commander and most famous of
these men was Colonel Paul Tibbets, whose mother, Enola Gay Tibbets, will forever be linked to the
single most catastrophic act of war the world has ever known. It was the Enola Gay that dropped a
little boy on the city of Hiroshima, Japan in an attempt to force Japan into an unconditional surrender,
ending to the Second World War. Two brilliant physicists were ultimately responsible for the
establishment of the nuclear bomb program within the US, Albert Einstein and Enrico Fermi, each
were European Scientists that had fled war bound fascist nations, Germany (Einstein) and Italy
(Fermi). Both men were absolutely convinced that President Roosevelt needed to be informed on the
status and threat of the Axis Powers Atomic Program as well as establish a

Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Essay
Chapter 6 Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Then, as the church became fused with the
secular, misogynistic society of Rome, Christ s attitude toward women and the doctrine of equality
were purposely forgotten, 21, 34 Following are only a few of the mean spirited quotes made by the
early church so called fathers and from modern preachers. This researcher believes this kind of
leadership has instigated erroneous beliefs about women and their place in the Christian church.
Furthermore, it has promoted discrimination against women in general and female clergy in particular.
Quotes are courtesy of John Wijngaards34 (2015) and Valerie Tarico35 (2013). The feminist agenda is
not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti family political movement that
encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism
and become lesbians. . Pat Robertson, Southern Baptist leader (1930 ), In Huffington Post (2014).
Most of these feminists are radical, frustrated lesbians, many of them, and man haters, and failures in
their relationships with men, and who have declared war on the male gender. The Biblical
condemnation of feminism has to do with its radical philosophy and goals. That s the bottom line.

Five Elements Of Negligence
Whether Ben will be held liable of negligent per se for violating Texas s Environmental Protection
Laws provision regarding self closing capped gas containers.
Rule of Law:
Negligence is the defendant s conduct (the exercise of an act or the failure to act), failing to exercise
the degree of care that a reasonable and prudent person in his position would exercise; and act in a
way that breaches the duty to prevent the foreseeable risk of harm to anyone in the plaintiff s position,
and the defendant s breach must be the cause of the plaintiff s injuries. The five elements of
negligence are: 1) Duty: Did the defendant owe plaintiff a legal obligation to exercise some level of
care? 2) Breach: Did defendant s conduct fail to meet the obligation owed to the plaintiff? Regarding
the foreseeable risks created by the defendant s conduct, was the act unreasonable under the
circumstances? 3) Factual Causation (Cause in Fact): Is there a causal connection between the
defendant s unreasonable act and the plaintiff s injuries? 4) Proximate Cause (Scope of Liability): Was

“Girl” Barbie Doll
In the past, women were always considered the subordinate gender that was expected to powder their
nose and stay at home to be a homemaker. Even now, despite the movement to liberate women from
stereotypical gender roles, women are still seen as the inferior gender that is discriminated against in
society. As suggested by the popular Barbie doll created by Mattel, the idealized image of a woman in
our patriarchal society is one who takes care of the home and is flawlessly beautiful with perfect skin,
long legs, small waist, and slender figure. The Barbie doll is used as a tool for patriarchy in that it
reinforces the notion that women should be domestic workers and maintain a feminine outer
appearance. Also, patriarchal values affect girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that this notion of femininity is so deeply rooted in our society, affects women in a negative
way, pressuring them to attain an unrealistic body image and a feminine outer appearance. Ultimately,
this notion that is associated with women leads them to feel inferior and weaker compared to men.
As young girls grow up surrounded by the perfect image of the Barbie doll, they begin not only to feel
pressured to obtain an idealized body image, but also to believe that it is the norm for women to be
domestic workers. The accessories sold with the Barbie doll illuminate the implication that women
should be domestic workers. For example, the Kitchen Barbie doll comes fully equipped with pots,
cooking utensils, apron, oven mitts, and baked goods. She comes packaged in a mini kitchen with an
oven, refrigerator, and sink. As young girls play with this doll, they build a positive and fun
association with working in the kitchen, and this encourages them to do the same in the future. In
addition, the accessories sold with the Babysitter Barbie doll also suggest that women should be
domestic workers. The accessories sold with this doll include a television set, DVD, stuffed animal
doll, and Kelly. Barbie is responsible of taking care of Kelly, and this reinforces the notion that
women should fulfill the domestic role of housewife and mother. As young girls grow up surrounded
by these dolls, they

Summary Of The Strongest Blood By Van Camp
The Strongest Blood: Literary Techniques
The Strongest Blood tells the story of two cousins in an Indigenous setting, living in the Northwest
Territories. Anyone who has read The Strongest Blood knows how it centers in on the teachings of
Indigenous peoples and the struggles and conflicts that they face involving their land, spiritual beliefs,
and economy. Van Camp s extensive use of literary techniques directs the spotlight on the two major
themes of Indigeneity, and economical conflict while creating an interesting environment for the
reader.
Van Camp centers his short story around the mass movement for land: Idle No More . He presents this
idea as an allusion with no explanation within the text, leaving the reader to do their research if they
do not already have previous knowledge. In The Strongest Blood, Van Camp redirects the character
narration into digression and a flashback when the truck ride to the park is interrupted by an anecdote
about an Indigenous town. It was like the town had been in hiding from its own inheritances as
Aboriginal people and northerners living side by side. Someone had even spray painted, It is time to
learn from the Red Man IDLE NO MORE! (Van Camp 36)
This paragraph is part of the digression that is present since it is moving away from the exposition of
hunting grouse, and it is the first open reference towards Idle No More. Economical conflict is a very
relevant and important theme in The Strongest Blood because it sets a

Whey Protein Research Paper
In the world of protein you will find that there are 4 primary types available with each having its own
unique set of benefits and problems. Below, I am going to discuss the different types and how they
should and shouldn t be used.
Whey Protein
Whey protein is by and large the most popular and arguably the best type of protein and/or supplement
on the market today. Often called the gold standard of protein, whey is a total protein meaning it
contains all of the necessary amino acids due to its Branched chain amino acids structure (BCAA s).
BCAA s are naturally occurring molecules (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) that the body uses to build
proteins. The term branched chain refers to the molecular structure of these particular amino ... Show

Studies have demonstrated that casein protein can sustain the body with a regular supply of amino
acids for at least seven hours, making casein the most anabolic protein, even more than whey. The
rationale behind this is really because casein forms a gel in acidic environments like the stomach, and
so releases a steady supply of amino acids into the bloodstream, permitting your body to remain
anabolic.
Since casein is kind of a slow digesting protein, consuming 30 50 grams before bed will stop
catabolism while you re asleep. You may also consume casein protein across the day, just never after a
workout. Post workout protein should be soaked up fast into the bloodstream, making casein a
particularly bad choice. Casein protein can be taken pre workout as well, but this would not be the
best use. A better pre workout shake would be to mix together a blend of casein and whey protein, thus
permitting you to drink it inside thirty minutes of your workout.
Milk contains over 80% casein protein, so mixing whey protein with milk will not only make your
shake taste better but it will give you a make shift time release formula, effective straight away and
sustaining for hours to come. Also, mixing your casein with milk before bed will ensure you stay anti
catabolic across the

1. The pressure announced on last night s television weather broadcast was 29.92. Explain how this
was measured and give the units. Would this be considered an unusually large or low pressure value?
A pressure announced on the weather forecast of 29.92 is an average measurement. It is measured
with a barometer and in the United States the units of measure are inches of mercury, or inHg. This is
what meteorologist are referring to in their forecasts. 29.92 inHg is a measurement within the normal
range. This may be referred to as air pressure, atmospheric pressure or barometric pressure. They are
all the same thing. Low pressure readings are associated with stormy weather and precipitation, while

The earth s rotation causes them to veer of course. This is the CF. Pressure gradient winds (PGF)
along with CF balance out geostrophic winds. If the earth slowed, the CF would decrease, so
geostrophic winds would have to increase to maintain this balance.
4. Explain why it is much more difficult to measure snowfall amount than rainfall amount.
Rain is measured by the amount of liquid contained in the measurement device. Whatever is amount
of liquid is in the device, is the measurement. However snow, has various factors that can impact its
measurement. First of all snowfall measurement is based on how much liquid there would be if the
snow was melted into liquid form. There are several factors that can impact how much snow is
measured in a device. Wind can move snow from high points to low points and vice versa. The surface
on which the snow is falling onto can also impact a measurement. The length of time the snow has
been on the ground and how compact it is can also effect measurements. Measuring in several places
and then using an average can give a more accurate total. Meteorologists usually forecast snow
amounts giving a range of totals due to these factors which make it challenging to give an exact
forecast.
5. Would you expect to find a subsidence inversion to be associated with high or low pressure? What
effects might a subsidence inversion have on weather conditions at the ground?
Subsidence inversions happen in areas of high pressure. A mass of cold air

Due to crowdedness, diseases passed rampantly through the streets of Europe, as well as in the

regularly killed thousands of people. (Yancey, 35). The theaters closed with every serious outbreak.
Which caused the players to make a choice to move with the thousand other citizens to continue their

Women s roles in the plays were acted by men or, more commonly by boys. (Bommarito, 267). Boys

acting at the age of ten, learning the correct way to walk and talk on the stage. In addition they were

English women were considered weaker and less intelligent, therefore, their opinions in life was

Descartes Three Forms Of The Cogito Argument Descartes believes that we experience the world through our senses and that because of defective nature doubt, the only thing we know for certain is our minds. Dreyfus does not agree because he believes that we experience the world directly and that telepresence is not a realistic concern. Descartes defective nature doubt is plausible because the development technology has the potential to satisfy Dreyfus s conditions for advanced telepresence and we could then call into question our everyday experiences. Why does he not consider that technology could advance far enough that a machine could satisfy these conditions? It is extremely possible that technology will make it almost impossible to distinguish an actual experience from a simulated experience. We have already come very close to simulating maximum grip through laparoscopic surgery. A transparent display system, high resolution image and wide field of view, multiple feedback channels, and consistent information shared between them are needed to stimulate the senses into experiencing a level of telepresence (9). It seems realistic to conceive of a piece of technology that is capable of refining these qualities to create the most realistic experience possible. In addition, it is very likely that as we spend more time in simulated realities, we will forget what these conditions feel like. Functioning indirectly through technology has the potential to become the norm and our body in the world experiences will start to be questioned (13). This video takes place outside somewhere and pretty is being led by a young woman to Bryan as soon as Pretty recognizes her wanting for her, she immediately responds abundant jovialness. It maybe that she was suffering from depression being separated from Bryan, but that is of course my speculation. Anyhow, in my opinion, this is the best example of social awareness and intelligence recognizing and showing love for someone you missed. You can tell she loves him since she is standing upright embracing and vigorously wagging her tail. In addition to that, she is panting heavily showing extreme excitement about finally being reunited with Bryan. The main reason I choose this video was that is showed remembrance and pleasure upon seeing somebody who they had missed and had nothing to do with training. Numerous videos that show the dogs, putting up laundry and following an owners gaze to a toy, is most likely the product of training. However, a greeting like Pretty is subtle evidence of social ... Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say that it means Response to Instruction. According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS, should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction. • 11. Informative Essay On Cirque Du Soleil Cirque du Soleil The show is full of excitement, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, and it grasps your imaginations. It s not like any other show you ve seen live. The circus brings to life wonderment only seen in dreams. I ve only seen a circus in movies, and the acts mainly consist of uniquely appearing people with special talents, clowns, and animal cruelty fueled performances. It intrigued me (not the animal cruelty part of course). Therefore, I got the idea to find a circus that is alive and thriving today. What I found is sensational; Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company that was co founded in the 1984 at Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, Canada by Gilles Ste Croix and Guy Laliberté. It was founded as a tour group for Quebec s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier s discovery of Canada. Before then, the performances were simple; they walked on stilts, juggled, and breathed fire ( Cirque du Soleil ). Today, Cirque du Soleil is known for its high flying acrobatics, death defying stunts, and extravagant visuals. • 12. Moral Hierarchy In Antigone There are many different moral levels that people have. People use reasoning that can be identified with a particular stage on Kohlberg s moral development hierarchy. The higher stages of morality are not usually achieved, according to Kohlberg. In a play called Antigone, one character, name Antigone, has a high level of morality. In Antigone, written by Sophocles, he conveys various moral hierarchy stages through character traits, reasoning, and moral development within this character Antigone is portrayed as being morally straight and obedient to higher standards. She has a high moral standard. For example, she argues to Ismene, He s my brother and yours too; and whether you will or not, I ll stand by him. (Sophocles, ll 52 53). Basically Antigone feels that serving her brother is more important than obeying the law. This is showing that she places higher importance on moral ethics than human laws. In another instance, Antigone states, Haven t you heard? Don t you see hatred marches on love when friends, our own people, our family are treated as enemies? (Sophocles, ll 12 15). In short, she is saying that hatred is ruining her love for her brother in that Kreon is treating Polyneices like an enemy by not giving him a proper burial. This goes against Antigone s views which are that her brother deserves a burial regardless of what he did in his lifetime. This reasoning tells us that Antigone has high levels of morality her standards prove her maturity. This type of reasoning puts her at the fifth stage of Kohlberg s moral development hierarchy, which is social contract and individual rights. Antigone has proven to be at a very high moral state throughout this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of God s Grandeur Conflict among contexts of the Victorian era, Catholicism and Gerard Manley Hopkins, has shaped Hopkins distinctive poetic exploration of religious faith in his poems. However, paradoxically he also challenges the role religion has played in making Victorians repress their natural desires, which compels them to doubt God s ability. These are clearly evidenced in two of his famous Petrarchan sonnets, the nature poem, God s Grandeur (1877), and the terrible sonnet , Carrion Comfort (1885 1887), both were written in Victorian late 19th century. Even though Hopkins never doubts the presence of God, his poems explore the divergence between God s glory and the decline of Christian belief. Hopkins religious faith influenced over his poem ... This poem depicts the Holy Ghost is a dove, which broods over the world and protects its inhabitants with its Bright wings , highlights the perfection and balance of the natural world as Hopkins has the faith that there is always a saviour who can guard and guide humans out of their doubts. Despite Hopkins negative view on the impact of man s progression, he remains his faith of God s protective divinity and also tries to influence his religious faith on other people who doubt the God. Conflict between Hopkins context of being homosexual, and Victorian England and Catholicism s conservative sexual contexts, demonstrates Hopkins struggles in his conviction of faith through Carrion Comfort . At the end of the first stanza, he highlights the struggle of his experience during his depression through the use of first person, cry I can no more , which emphasises his loss of faith and starts to doubt himself as he s exhausted by depression and unable to struggle further. At the end of the phrase, he paradoxically asserts I can , which captures that humans always contradict themselves as they are afraid of shame and guilt due to society norms, such as the extreme repressing homophobia in Victorian era and Catholicism that Hopkins faced. The paradox also reveals that Hopkins still has faith within himself and God as at the beginning of second stanza, conveys his faith through the interior monologue hope, wish day come . By 1995 there were only 383,000 people employed in the primary sector. This shows a decrease of 818,000 employees over 31 years. Changing consumer tastes, the creation of new products and the changing comparative costs result in the redistribution of economic activity around the world. For example the Japanese were able to produce more reliable motorcycles at a cheaper cost and therefore there was a decline in the UK motorcycle industry, because Japan had a comparative advantage. The membership of the EU meant some inevitable restructuring of the UK economy, in accordance with European comparative advantages, as there were no trade restrictions within the EU (free trade, no import duties). This lead to an increase in economic activity in the tertiary sector for the UK, where it has a comparative advantage in banking and finance, (due to specialisation). One side is referred to as the Naturalists. These people believe we need to let nature take its course. On the other hand, the Anti Naturalists believe we must step in and help preserve the polar bear population. The fact it is political allegory allows us view the true nature of what it represents, which is important when trying to analyse modern issues and improve the human condition. In today s society we can draw a direct parallel between the issues around LGBT rights in Uganda and the Salem trials. In Uganda we see LGBT being actively persecuted. Newspapers print the names of those suspected of being LGBT and these people are actively persecuted by both mobs, similar to the hysteric mob we see in various parts of the Crucible, and also the law. Laws have been passed over there which have resulted in the courts being able to issue the death penalty to those deemed LGBT. People have been known to blame others for being LGBT just to try and lessen their on sentence or be let off. This is a modern witch hunt happening currently. This supports the view of Warshow when he said there will always be witch hunts (Warshow, 2008).
