The Current Capitalistic Society And Its Effects On The...
Alex Tannenbaum Final Paper In our current capitalistic society nothing is more closely followed than
economic growth. When economies are growing they are praised, but when they are not they are
perceived as a failure. Growth has brought us many great technologies that have helped form the
global culture that we now live in. However, there is a misapprehension among society that economic
growth is limitless. In fact, it is impossible to have unlimited growth in a finite world. This has lead
society to expect more from the economy and the earth than what they are actually able to provide for
us. As a result, we are now overproducing and over consuming at record rates, which is having
extremely detrimental effects on the environment. If we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, they show that unlimited economic growth is a producer of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and
frustration. Winner describes this phenomenon as human morality corruption. He explains that human
corruption is a direct result of material wealth. As a result, society is valuing materials over
relationships and experiences, therefore attempting to satisfy desires by obtaining more and more
goods. With the ever growing demand for material goods, technology is needed to maintain a speedy
production rate and get the goods that society so desperately want to them. Technology allows us to be
efficient and effective in the marketplace. With all the beneficial things that technology allows us to
do, it s also very easy to get consumed by its presence and let it control the way we get things done.
Technological innovations have completely changed the production process and the way we have
traditionally defined the word work. We have gotten to the point where if there is a flaw in
technological equipment, production shuts down and our systems spin out of whack. The expansion of
technology is running parallel to our growing desires for material goods. The illusion of unlimited
economic growth has created a society where enough is never enough. When that is the case producers
use technologies to maximize the output of their product in order to meet the growing demand, rather
than producing at optimal levels. Producers are constantly

The Safety Of The Space Race
On August 2, 1955, the Space Race, the race for spaceflight supremacy, began, with two countries
going head to head, United States of America and the Soviet Union. The front row seat to the most
thrilling show on Earth. From the day the Space Race commenced, to present day, safety has always
been a fragile subject. Believe it or not, the safety of humans was not always the objective. These next
events altered the concept of safety within the Space Shuttle era.
On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was rolled out to Kennedy Space Center s Pad
39A, for what would end up being its final launch. At T minus 5 seconds, the solid rocket boosters
ignited, propelling the nearly 134 ton vertical flight vehicle into geocentric orbit. However, at T plus
73 seconds, Challenger experienced catastrophic structural failure which resulted in the loss of both
the Shuttle and the seven crew members onboard. Among those seven crew members was Christa
McAuliffe, an American teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. McAuliffe was slated to be the first
teacher in space, as well as the first teacher to teach not one, but two lessons from space.
Unfortunately, had NASA not ignored the many warnings from their contractor s flight engineers
declaring the solid rocket boosters unfit to fly in such a cold temperature, the astronauts aboard the
Challenger would still be with us today. Furthermore, if Challenger, or any Shuttle for that matter, had
been built with an emergency evacuation

Letter To Baz Luhrmann Essay
Letter to Baz Luhrmann James Tripovich Green To Mr Baz Luhrmann, I, James Tripovich Green, have
decided that I should contact you on the subject I m sure you have had many letters about in the past.
Romeo + Juliet. I feel there was far too much hate directed towards your movie, and so I have taken it
upon myself to give you an outline of what you did well in case you were feeling that the movie was a
failure, because it definitely wasn t, even if there were some slight mistakes. First and foremost,
Shakespeare s original Romeo and Juliet was built around different ideas and principles to your
modern reiteration. It was written in 1595 from the Elizabethan perspective of the world, which was
quite scrambled, as it was a time of great change and questioning of the old ways thanks to the
Renaissance. This setting is wildly different to your modern version s setting in a modern world where
guns are the preferred weapon rather than swords and daggers, despite still being named after them
(one of the funniest parts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recall there being more than one minor mistakes, but the one that stood out for me was when Romeo
shot Tybalt repeatedly with a gun that was shown to have only one bullet in it. If you can t remember,
let me jog your memory. Just before engaging Mercutio in battle, Tybalt s un named accomplice (The
one referred to as A Capulet ) hands him his gun and Tybalt removes all the bullets from his gun s clip,
intending to have a one bullet only type of duel. Later, when Romeo goes after Tybalt he takes Tybalt s
gun and repeatedly shoots him to death. This was quite confusing to me and some other viewers at the
time. However, nitpicking implies that the viewer went to great lengths to spot this, as indeed was the
case. An ordinary consumer would not have picked up on this kind of mistake. By the way, this
paragraph was by no means an attempt to insult your work, and I sincerely hope it did not come across

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Of An Age, But For All Time
Ben Jonson wrote Shakespeare was not of an age, but for all time, representing how 21st century ideas
and themes can be connected back to the time when 1 Henry IV was written. One contemporary issue
displayed in the play is a phenomenon known as helicopter parenting. According to Webster s
Dictionary, a helicopter parent is when a parent is very involved in a child s life. Parents will often put
expectations on their children to achieve certain dreams parents have of their kids. Thus, putting a
tremendous amount of anxiety and stress on their children. This idea is demonstrated throughout the
play between King Henry and Prince Hal. King Henry expects his son to act a certain way, to take his
role in the kingdom seriously and be focused on the kingdom and the duties he serves to the kingdom.
Looking at two examples from the text, one can identify the transformation of the test to 21st century
problem of parents pressuring kids to attend college or act a certain way. Throughout the play King
Henry would like his son, Prince Hal, to act a certain way. The King wants Prince Hal to act royal and
responsible, like Hotspur. Instead, Prince Hal decides to act out and represent immature behavior with
his sidekick Falstaff. King Henry states, See riot and dishonor stain the brow of my young Harry. O,
that it could be proved that some night tripping fairy had exchanged in cradle clothes our children
where they lay, and called mine Percy, his Plantagenet! (I, I, 87 89). The King

The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay
i. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system
of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return,
their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of
these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind
eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about
the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise
to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with
other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal
Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6,
to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially
desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can
make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down
to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the
age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a
decision to help others like him, and as a result,

Crime Movie Genre Analysis
Movie genres are used to categorize movies depending on the similarity of characteristics in the story
elements from which the viewers can create an emotional reaction or social construction about the
movies. Other than the storyline, the genre classification takes into account the characters, the setting,
the style and the mood of the movie. They can also be distinguished from one another by their
narrative structures, themes, and the setting used during the making of the movies. The movie
classifications can also be differentiated by considering the effect they have on the audience in terms

Cub The Most Beautiful Thing Human Eyes
Cuba
How would you like to travel to the wonderful country of Cuba? Christopher Columbus described it as
the most beautiful thing human eyes have ever seen! Along with its rich culture, Cuba also has an
aggressive history, flat geography, harsh government, rich culture, and a poor economy. First, Cuba is
known for having an aggressive history. During Cuba s beginning, Christopher Columbus landed in
Cuba in 1492. Many years later there was a measles outbreak in 1529 which killed most of the
population at that time. A few hundred years later, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes led a rebellion to free
Cuba in 1868. In 1898 Spain and the U.S. sign the treaty of Paris. In addition to Cuba s formative
years, it has several newsworthy events. Cuba fought many wars like the ten years wars in 1868 1880
and the Little War in 1879 1880. In 1875 Cuba ended slavery. Thereafter, Cuba fought for their
independence against Spain in 1895 1898. On October 13th, 1910 a horrible hurricane called the
Cyclone of the Five Days, hit the country, and nine hundred people died. Cuba suffered against
another hurricane, Hurricane Flora in 1963 were 1,000 Cubans lost their lives. In 1956, Fidel Castro
Ruz launched a revolution from the Sierra Maestra mountains. The U.S. ended military help to Cuba
in 1958, and on New Year s Day 1959, Batista fled into exile and Castro took over the government.

The Conflict Between Israel And Palestine Essay
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged on since Israel s founding in the 1940s, the
solution to this problem is not always straight forward or clear. It seems like everyone has formed
their opinions and are stuck in their ways. The United Nations has even seem to accept the conflict as
a certainty and for a large part does not wish to address it (Baker). However just because this problem
is complex doesn t mean there is no hope for a solution. This conflict is generally seen as a war over
where the border between these two states should lay, and due to the increase of extremism on both
sides, whether both states should even exist or one state should prevail alone. However there is more
complexities to the conflict then finding a mutual place for the border be drawn. There is the conflict
over who will control the Holy City, Jerusalem. In addition there are concerns on both sides over
security and the internal economy of each state. Finally is the problem that even if an agreement to
form the two states were met and agreed upon, would these two vastly different and deeply
opinionated states even be able to peaceful co exist in the future. With all the history and politics
considered, for me the answer becomes clear; Palestine has the right to be a state and that state should
in large part reflect their position they have presented to the international community. The outbreak of
this conflict would begin in 1948, however you can start the modern history of

Essay on Japanese Baseball
Japanese Baseball Japanese Baseball has existed in Japan since 1873. It first appeared amid the social,
cultural and technological spasms Japan endured on the heels of the Meiji restoration. The game began
as a club sport; Japan s first team was the Shinbashi Athletic Club Athletics (composed mostly of
people associated with Japan s first railroad which ran from Shinbashi, in Tokyo, to Yokohama). For a
relatively good treatment of Japan s early baseball history see Robert Whiting s You ve Gotta Have

The sport became popular with schoolboys and eventually won recognition from the government.
Amateur baseball was the only game in Japan until the Shibaura Club was organized in the early
1920s. The Shibaura Club was founded in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In spite of the continuing escalation of the war, the 1942 schedule went back to 104 games. In 1943,
the schedule reverted to 84 games. In 1944, the schedule was drastically reduced to 35 games and only
six teams. The 1945 season was never played. Within nine months of the beginning of the Allied
occupation, Japan s pro leagues were back in business with eight teams playing 105 games each.
General Information About Japanese Baseball
Amateur Baseball
Japan is, arguably, the word wide center of amateur baseball, in the sense that so many people play
baseball here. Softball is played in Japan but it far less popular among men than baseball. The total
number of softball and baseball players in Japan is probably about even however, since there appears
to be many more womens softball teams than baseball teams.
The most popular form of baseball is nanshiki which uses a light rubber ball with dimples so that it
resembles a large golf ball with the traditional raised seams of a baseball. The ball is a little harder to
catch (because it is so light, it has a tendency to pop out of the glove). It is very popular with town and
city leagues as well as with many youth and company leagues.
The focus of amateur baseball is on industrial league, college, and especially high school ball.

Online Casino Portal Crown Contender
Blog 16 Thrills casino emerges as an online casino portal crown contender We have all seen the
advertising campaigns for new casinos, as everyone seems to claim to be funky, fresh, and
revolutionary . Sadly, all these claims are usually pretty hollow in most cases. Freshman online
casinos seldom deliver on what they promise, with many just leaving players feeling deflated.
However, while most new online casinos are underwhelming, Thrills has now looked to buck that
trend. Its name says it all, in the same vain as Guts, Thrills is an online casino that packs in plenty of
adrenaline fuelled action. It seems as time passes more and more players seem to be jumping aboard
this up and coming name, but can Thrills now realistically be considered a contender for the online
casino portal crown?
Thrills make no bones about what they are, as they proudly promote how dedicated they are to
delivering intense gaming action. How they live up to such claim is that they work with NetEnt, one
of the biggest online casino game developers on the planet. What this means is that the software
options at Thrills run smoothly and gives this online casino some serious backbone. No matter
whether you play through smartphone, tablet, or desktop, you are guaranteed a free flowing casino
experience at Thrills due to the backing on NetEnt.
Looking at exactly what games Thrills provide, it really is the cream of the crop when it comes to
titles. As mentioned above, Thrills is an online casino

This could be a program, method, system, or other action. A dependent variableis what may change as
a result of the independent variable or intervention. A dependent variable could be a behavior,
outcome, or other condition. A smoking cessation program, for example, is an independent variable
that may change group members smoking behavior, the primary dependent variable. What do we
mean by analyzing data? Analyzing information involves examining it in ways that reveal the
relationships, patterns, trends, etc. that can be found within it. That may mean subjecting it to
statistical operations that can tell you not only what kinds of relationships seem to exist among
variables, but also to what level you can trust the answers you re getting. It may mean comparing your
information to that from other groups (a control or comparison group, statewide figures, etc.), to help
draw some conclusions from the data. The point, in terms of your evaluation, is to get an accurate
assessment in order to better understand your work and its effects on those you re concerned with, or
in order to better understand the overall situation. There are two kinds of data you re apt to be working
with, although not all evaluations will necessarily include both. Quantitative data refer to the
information that is collected as, or can be translated into, numbers, which can then be displayed and
analyzed mathematically. Qualitative

My New Political Ideology Essay
A population s views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day. The
environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views that
we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views and my
political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political science class has influenced my
political ideology.
When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester

American people are not ready to vote for the taxes we all pay. The government is doing a descent job
with our taxes; however with changes in the social programs the American peoples taxes can be
considerably lowered.
As a conservative, I still feel that the social class of the individual greatly affects the political ideology
that they have chosen. I have analyzed, that the education of the individual has a great deal of affect
on the political party of their choice. Most liberals are only against conservatives due to medias bad
review of conservatives. The media can affect our lives tremendously if we believe what they have to
say. Education is the key to determining the political party or political ideology of our choice;
therefore education is one of the leading issues many Americans feel strongly about today. As I stated
in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although there are people

Stereotypes About Gender Differences
I ve never been one to believe that the entirety of one s personality relies solely on certain traits or
associations. However, stereotypes exist for a reason. While generalisations are often destructive, they
must be rooted in some sort of truth. After all, a particular observation must have been made many
times for most sweeping statements to become embedded in one s thought processes. Stereotypes
regarding gender follow this pattern as well. Men and women differ in not only their inclinations, but
even tend to pursue different aspirations. They also tend to communicate in different manners, often
using different approaches to support others and solve problems. And, of course, the most blaring
differences are those in the ways that men and

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Code Analysis
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain obeys a code of knightly conduct that revolves
around a few key principles. Today, these principles do not carry the same importance and influence as
they did in 14th century Middle England. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a chivalric romance
story, representing the importance of the chivalric code. Sir Gawain always keeps his promises, obeys
his lord, and enters combat to uphold his reputation of bravery. These comprise part of the code of
chivalry, the principle of utmost importance to any knight. Arthurian legends esteemed honor, honesty,

Although actual nights are not a part of today s society, we have modern day knights in the form of
soldiers. In a sense, the values of the U.S army trace back to the Age of Chivalry, and many of their
values coincide with such. For example, the Army values loyalty just as knights did. Soldiers are
expected to be true to the U.S Constitution and fellow soldiers. They wear a uniform to express this
loyalty. They also value duty, which is fulfilling your obligations and accomplishing a multitude of
objectives with a team. Respect is also esteemed in the Army. Soldiers pledge to treat others with
dignity and respect while expecting others to do the same. (The Army Values, 25 26). The next value
is selfless service, putting the welfare of others above yourself. Then Honor, which is a soldier living
their everyday life while encompassing the values of the Army. Following this is integrity, which is
doing what is right in a legal and moral sense. Lastly, demonstrating courage is expected of a soldier.
Proving one s ability to overcome all types of adversity and standing up for your beliefs are parts of
being a courageous soldier. Overall, these values of the modern U.S army coincide with the values of
medieval knights. I don t believe the courtesy in respect to interactions with others (especially women)
is valued as highly in modern times. Sir Gawain was expected to revere women to an almost
legendary level. This is not

The Bronze Horseman Essay
In the poem, The Bronze Horseman, Pushkin crafts the legend of Saint Petersburg in which he
displays the city as an unnatural force. Although this poem consists of fantastical elements such as
when the Bronze Horseman comes to life and chases the main character, Evgenii, the poem is not
simply a story of magic and mayhem. As the poem progresses, it becomes clear that that the city of
Saint Petersburg presence defies nature and leads to the unfortunate events that occur throughout the
poem. Furthermore, Pushkin explores the role the government plays in the citizens lives. At the
beginning of the poem, a massive flood wipes out the town and one of the only things that remains
standing is the Bronze Horseman. While the citizens livelihoods are drowned, the government remains
above them and in safety from the rushing waters below. The flood demonstrates Mother Nature s

After Evgenii discovers that his love, Parasha, has died in the flood, Evegenii withdraws from society.
He questions religion, the government, and becomes a stranger to the world. When Pushkin explores
the idea of madness that seemingly goes hand in hand with the legend of Saint Petersburg, a question
arises: is Evegenii heartbroken and speaking from a crippling mind,or has his pain led to an
enlightenment of society s flaws? The government can control the people s social status, and living
conditions, but the one thing the government cannot control is the intricate works of an individual s
mind. While the government can influence their thoughts, it is up to the person to decide what they
believe. The government promises to protect the people but fail Evegenii. Because of this, Pushkin
signifies how Evegenii s position comes from a reasonable source of disappointment in his leaders.
Therefore, what is seen as madness to some, is in reality just a different

Latin Music Thesis
Growing up in Arizona where the Hispanic culture is so vibrant and plentiful, I have spent much time
surrounded by the rich music of their people, and have had that ingrained into my mind as what Latin
music is since I was a child. That same sentiment can be shared by much of the west coast, yet if one
were to ask someone on the east coast or Midwest what Latin music is, their answers will all differ.
This is because Latin music is not one dimensional, nor is it only in reference to the Spanish
influences to said music, but in actuality encompasses the entire Latin experience and accounts for
many geographical locations and differences. The Latin music genre has grown and adapted to how
society has changed overtime to include newer subcultures of music within the genre itself in order to

The Art And Reflection Of The Red Room
The rich raspberry red blanketed over the canvas is more than enough to entice it s viewers. The Red
Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork. The art
piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic appearance.
Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was normal at the time and
succeeded. My recreation of the Red Room uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form, texture,
space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly valued art
piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is exceedingly two dimensional while still
showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman setting up a table within a highly saturated red
room. The table and the wall paper are almost indistinguishable if it weren t for the thin wobbly line
that differentiated them. A blue branch like pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top
while staying in the range of the table and wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are
additionally outlined in black. On the table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow,
green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of
elixir. The fruit and vases were common to see in Matisse s work during that period, Matisse turned to
a motif common in the works created that year: a room decorated with

Creon Tragic Hero In Antigone
Aristotle s pieces are either comedies or tragedies. The majority of tragedies have the main role of a
tragic hero. Tragic heroes rise to power, experiences a major catastrophe, doom themselves with
hamartia, have the occurrence of peripeteia, builds up events leading to their downfall, must be
enlightened, and the audience needs catharsis . In Antigone, Creon fits the tragic hero mold the best.
Creon s noble blood allows for the the appointment of kingship. Sharing ties with Jocasta, the late
Queen of Thebes, Creon rises to power once the two sons of Oedipus, an exiled king of Thebes, die.
The two sons of Oedipus and Jocasta take turns ruling Thebes, yet Etocles, the younger brother, exiles
his brother, Polynices. This unruly act brought upon war and both brother died killing one another. As
there is no king to rule Thebes the next male with royal blood must take the position of ruler. With no
one left to rule, Creon is deemed new king of Thebes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he refuses to bury Polynices and sends Antigone, a princess of Thebes and law breaker, into prison. A

death in the exodus. Antigone s suicide causes a domino effect. Haimon, Creon s son, is drove mad
seeing his beloved Antigone dead. Eurydice, new queen of Thebes, reacts illy to her son s death and
commits suicide. Before this major catastrophe and reversal of fortune (peripeteia) Creon tries to fix

Factors That Affect Our Everyday Lives
We make important decisions that affect our everyday lives. Every decision we make has a
consequence. When I make a decision, I choose to think long and hard about that choice because I
know how much a bad decision can affect me negatively. Looking back, there are multiple decisions
that occurred that I either regretted or approved. The three most important decisions I have made was
when I decided to go to Carlsbad High instead of Sage Creek High, going all out in my first year in
football, and helping my friend with depression.
One decision that I made in my life that affects me greatly is when I chose to go to Carlsbad instead of
Sage Creek. When I was in the middle of deciding, I listed the pros and cons if I went to either school.
One example about the pros of going to Carlsbad High is they have a football team, my older sister
already goes to Carlsbad High, the people that go to Carlsbad are typically more laid back/relaxed and
so on. Some pros I thought of for Sage creek was my favorite basketball coach of all time was
coaching the varsity basketball team, some of my close friends were already going to Sage Creek
High, and the School is nicer than Carlsbad High. I thought long and hard about the decision, but
when I chose to go to Carlsbad I had a feeling I made the right decision. If I chose to go to Sage Creek
I probably would not have as good of grades, because of the trimester system. Also, I probably would
have made the Junior Varsity team on Sage Creek, because

Fast Learner
Would You Rather be a Fast Learner or be Naturally Gifted at Something? There once was a college
football kid who was great at everything in football, but he never was perfect enough at one task so he
couldn t make the NFL(National Football League). Even if you are good at everything you do at that
task, but never perfect at one thing you are not considered exceptional. If you love doing something
that you are exceptional at and want to make goals out of that skill then are probably naturally gifted

Characteristics Of A Successful Time Period During Late...
The traits that define a successful time period in late Imperial China are necessary expansion, unifying
the people, and the construction of an effective and incorrupt political structure. The effects of meeting
these criteria is sustained influence in following Chinese time periods both short term and long term,
as other rulers will benefit from what their predecessors have accomplished, or try to imitate
successful policies. As a team, the Kangxi emperor and his successor, the Yongzheng emperor, were
able to achieve all of the goals for a prosperous period in Chinese history. Although it was a relatively
short period, the Kangxi and Yongzheng emperor s times on the Qing throne were extremely
complementary, and ultimately came together to form the most successful time period in late Imperial
China.
The Kangxi emperor s greatest contributions to the Qing Dynasty were his impressive military forces
used to expand his lands and keep peace within them, and his ability to establish a foundation for
order in those lands. The Kangxi emperor was on the throne for sixty one years, and brought
expansion and a stable government to the Manchu Qing dynasty by integrating Manchu and Chinese
interests and making traditional Chinese institutions function again. The Kangxi emperor s long
reign...is the crucial period during which Manchu rule took form...With vigor and insight he faced the

The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents
Objective:
How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents
Introduction:
Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their
inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee,
2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a
century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011).
Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor
within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are
biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a
variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new
forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for
investigation.
We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead,
alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of
the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and
never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity
is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that

Solving White Tailed Deer Overabundance With Hunting and Sterilization In the past few decades,
white tailed deer populations in North America have increased drastically. Due to some relief in
predation in correlation with changes in the environment deer populations in many zones meet or
exceed 10 deer per square kilometer, which is a much higher ratio than in the 1960 s and 1970 s (Côté
116). With an overabundance of deer, many problems arise; the diversity and success of habitats
decline, agriculture suffers, more deer vehicle collisions occur, and quite a few more issues appear. In
order to maintain a healthy number of deer and reduce these issues, deer populations ... Show more

An abundance of deer initially seems to indicate healthy habitats and flourishing wildlife; however,
overabundance actually leads to severe problems for ecosystems. One of the reasons deer populations
have been able to grow so exponentially is because many forested suburban areas allow for deer
habitats with low risk of predation (Boulanger 174). In correlation with their suburban living,
overpopulated deer end up crossing more roads and highways, posing as more pressing issues towards
automobiles and trains and causing more frequent collisions. Next, and quite obviously,
overabundance creates overcrowding in habitats. Less apparent, however, is the idea that with
increased browsing of new tree seedlings, overpopulated deer decrease species diversity in forests and
reduce tree growth, which leads to a lack of protection from erosion and floods (Côté 117). Deer also
forage selectively, meaning certain species of plant will be eaten more frequently than others, often
resulting in less diversity, ground coverage, and competition between plants (Côté 124). This, in turn,
makes ecosystems less suitable to other species, in particular the foliage. Steeve Côté quotes Hobbs
and Paine, who explain, By affecting competitive interactions among plants with varying levels of
chemical defenses and by altering successional trajectories, deer alter ecosystem processes that
include energy transfer, soil development, and

The Between Sin And Purity
The organization of Inferno is categorized by the escalation of crimes, from failure of the will, to
transgressions of the mind; better described as the uncontrollable versus the sins you knowingly
commit. Canto V of Inferno is the most memorable, and erotic, Canto throughout the Divine Comedy.
In this Canto, the reader witnesses the integration of sin with purity, symbolizing the duality of human
nature. The allegorizations represent a duality in mankind s freedom of choice; the choice to live a
pure life or to commit sin. According to Dante a soul has the ability to intellectually reason. This
ability means that each human is responsible for their own actions and choices as they might reason to
control their natural appetites that lead to a sinful existence. The starving of one s lustful appetite is
connected to the ritualistic fasting, Lent, that Christians undertake in order to absolve themselves of
sin and thus seek a closer intimacy with God. There is heavy symbolism in Dante s portrayal of Paolo
and Francesca which reveals the dichotomy between sin and purity that exists in Canto V. Imagery
plays a crucial role when it comes to seeing the duality of the second circle. The laws of contrapasso
creates a parallel of crimes one committed in life to match the nature of punishment found in death.
The atmosphere of the second circle is designed to be the punishment for those who choose their
emotion over reason. Like how these sinners acted on lust, renouncing the reason

The Rise of American Imperialism Essay
The Rise of American Imperialism
The idea of American Imperialism had both its advocates and its critics. One only needs to look at a
map to see which side won. America has greatly expanded since its own phase as a colony of the
greatest European Empire of the time. America became her own Empire through the accusation of vast
territories through many different mean. Sometimes she purchases the mighty morsel, sometimes she
forms it #8230; by the natural increase of her own people, sometimes she annexes, and sometimes she
conquers it ( Manifest ).
The rise of American Empire received support because in many ways it seemed a proper product of

arising problems in that time (Healy 34). America desired to keep up with the imperialist fever that
was raging through the European countries (Brinkley 604). Europe had already conquered and
possessed a vast majority of Africa and other uncivilized lands. This provided these countries with
new raw materials and foreign markets. America was falling behind. America had already practiced
transcontinental imperialism for decades, but without extra territorial imperialism America was being
left out. The closing of the frontier had produced widespread fear that America s natural resources
would dwindle, necessitating foreign alternatives (Brinkley 605). The prolonged business depression
in 1893 also encouraged the economic interest in the foreign markets available through imperialism

Imperialism was supported by beliefs and current events, but also by numerous people of power.
Business was interested in imperialism because of the possibility of new markets. The majority of the

of political opinion, need to be addressed. Conservatives and liberals alike all agree that persecution of

The Holocaust And Internment Camps
The Holocaust was the genocide of millions of people leading up to and during World War II. Adolf
Hitler, leader of the Holocaust, saw Jews as a threat to the German race after the country s defeat in
1918 and therefore, saw it necessary to capture and exterminate all of those of the Jewish faith. In
these years of the Holocaust, up to six million Jews were killed. Many Jews were held captive in
internment camps for years being nearly starved and forced to work till they were no longer needed
and killed. In 1944, the Allies began to take over the German s camps. The Soviets began to liberate
the Jews who had managed to survive the crucial camps. At the beginning of World War II, the United
Kingdom began to import most of their foods annually that would last their population of 50 million
throughout the year. It was one of the principal strategies of the Germans in the Battle of the Atlantic
to attack shipping bound for Britain, restricting British industry and potentially starving the nation into
submission. Due to shortages, the civilians of the United Kingdom were forced to ration their food.
They were given a ration book with coupons and had to register at chosen shops in order to buy the
rationed food. This made providing three full meals a day for your family nearly impossible for the
British. The Dunkirk evacuation was the evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II from the

apply these skills to real life scenarios whether they are a CEO of a multi billion dollar company or
using division of labor when clearing out their garage with the help of their friends. Video games have
incredible benefits not just in teaching people life skills but also learning in general. In his book, Marc
Prensky suggests that, what digital technology has offered us and what game designers have adopted

their child s education, in order to convey that video games can be more effective at teaching than
teachers. It is a well known fact that students learn at different paces and sometimes have trouble
learning in school because it is either too easy or too hard. Video games present the ability to learn

Total Thyroidectomy
Total Versus Subtotal Thyroidectomy for Benign Multinodular

Introduction
The surgical technique is one of the important factors affecting the outcome of thyroidectomy [1].
Primary thyroid disease, weight of dissected tissue and extent of surgical treatment are also points
influencing patients outcome [2]. In the past, most surgeons avoided dissections in close proximity to
the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) to prevent its injury.
The identification and preservation of the RLN together with meticulous hemostasis and delicate
technique are required to prevent nerve injury. Once found, the nerve with all the identified branches

Plants Are An Important Part Of The Ecosystem
Plants are an important part of the ecosystem. They provide most of the oxygen on Earth and are part
of the food chain for animals on land and sea (Miller Levine, 2006). Plants are unique in their manner
of reproduction. Some plants do not produce seeds. They reproduce asexually by vegetative
reproduction, producing offspring that are identical to the parent plant (Miller Levine, 2006, p. 622).
Other plants produce seeds and depend on the seed s survival to reproduce. The seed s survival is
dependent on several environmental factors, such as where the seed grows, presence of birds or other
animals that eat the seeds, the temperature, moisture, and nutrient levels of the environment (Quinn,
2005). For a seed to grow and mature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Current Capitalistic Society And Its Effects On The... Alex Tannenbaum Final Paper In our current capitalistic society nothing is more closely followed than economic growth. When economies are growing they are praised, but when they are not they are perceived as a failure. Growth has brought us many great technologies that have helped form the global culture that we now live in. However, there is a misapprehension among society that economic growth is limitless. In fact, it is impossible to have unlimited growth in a finite world. This has lead society to expect more from the economy and the earth than what they are actually able to provide for us. As a result, we are now overproducing and over consuming at record rates, which is having extremely detrimental effects on the environment. If we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, they show that unlimited economic growth is a producer of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and frustration. Winner describes this phenomenon as human morality corruption. He explains that human corruption is a direct result of material wealth. As a result, society is valuing materials over relationships and experiences, therefore attempting to satisfy desires by obtaining more and more goods. With the ever growing demand for material goods, technology is needed to maintain a speedy production rate and get the goods that society so desperately want to them. Technology allows us to be efficient and effective in the marketplace. With all the beneficial things that technology allows us to do, it s also very easy to get consumed by its presence and let it control the way we get things done. Technological innovations have completely changed the production process and the way we have traditionally defined the word work. We have gotten to the point where if there is a flaw in technological equipment, production shuts down and our systems spin out of whack. The expansion of technology is running parallel to our growing desires for material goods. The illusion of unlimited economic growth has created a society where enough is never enough. When that is the case producers use technologies to maximize the output of their product in order to meet the growing demand, rather than producing at optimal levels. Producers are constantly ... • 3. The Safety Of The Space Race On August 2, 1955, the Space Race, the race for spaceflight supremacy, began, with two countries going head to head, United States of America and the Soviet Union. The front row seat to the most thrilling show on Earth. From the day the Space Race commenced, to present day, safety has always been a fragile subject. Believe it or not, the safety of humans was not always the objective. These next events altered the concept of safety within the Space Shuttle era. On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was rolled out to Kennedy Space Center s Pad 39A, for what would end up being its final launch. At T minus 5 seconds, the solid rocket boosters ignited, propelling the nearly 134 ton vertical flight vehicle into geocentric orbit. However, at T plus 73 seconds, Challenger experienced catastrophic structural failure which resulted in the loss of both the Shuttle and the seven crew members onboard. Among those seven crew members was Christa McAuliffe, an American teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. McAuliffe was slated to be the first teacher in space, as well as the first teacher to teach not one, but two lessons from space. Unfortunately, had NASA not ignored the many warnings from their contractor s flight engineers declaring the solid rocket boosters unfit to fly in such a cold temperature, the astronauts aboard the Challenger would still be with us today. Furthermore, if Challenger, or any Shuttle for that matter, had been built with an emergency evacuation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Letter To Baz Luhrmann Essay Letter to Baz Luhrmann James Tripovich Green To Mr Baz Luhrmann, I, James Tripovich Green, have decided that I should contact you on the subject I m sure you have had many letters about in the past. Romeo + Juliet. I feel there was far too much hate directed towards your movie, and so I have taken it upon myself to give you an outline of what you did well in case you were feeling that the movie was a failure, because it definitely wasn t, even if there were some slight mistakes. First and foremost, Shakespeare s original Romeo and Juliet was built around different ideas and principles to your modern reiteration. It was written in 1595 from the Elizabethan perspective of the world, which was quite scrambled, as it was a time of great change and questioning of the old ways thanks to the Renaissance. This setting is wildly different to your modern version s setting in a modern world where guns are the preferred weapon rather than swords and daggers, despite still being named after them (one of the funniest parts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recall there being more than one minor mistakes, but the one that stood out for me was when Romeo shot Tybalt repeatedly with a gun that was shown to have only one bullet in it. If you can t remember, let me jog your memory. Just before engaging Mercutio in battle, Tybalt s un named accomplice (The one referred to as A Capulet ) hands him his gun and Tybalt removes all the bullets from his gun s clip, intending to have a one bullet only type of duel. Later, when Romeo goes after Tybalt he takes Tybalt s gun and repeatedly shoots him to death. This was quite confusing to me and some other viewers at the time. However, nitpicking implies that the viewer went to great lengths to spot this, as indeed was the case. An ordinary consumer would not have picked up on this kind of mistake. By the way, this paragraph was by no means an attempt to insult your work, and I sincerely hope it did not come across that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Of An Age, But For All Time Ben Jonson wrote Shakespeare was not of an age, but for all time, representing how 21st century ideas and themes can be connected back to the time when 1 Henry IV was written. One contemporary issue displayed in the play is a phenomenon known as helicopter parenting. According to Webster s Dictionary, a helicopter parent is when a parent is very involved in a child s life. Parents will often put expectations on their children to achieve certain dreams parents have of their kids. Thus, putting a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress on their children. This idea is demonstrated throughout the play between King Henry and Prince Hal. King Henry expects his son to act a certain way, to take his role in the kingdom seriously and be focused on the kingdom and the duties he serves to the kingdom. Looking at two examples from the text, one can identify the transformation of the test to 21st century problem of parents pressuring kids to attend college or act a certain way. Throughout the play King Henry would like his son, Prince Hal, to act a certain way. The King wants Prince Hal to act royal and responsible, like Hotspur. Instead, Prince Hal decides to act out and represent immature behavior with his sidekick Falstaff. King Henry states, See riot and dishonor stain the brow of my young Harry. • 6. The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay i. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return, their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6, to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a decision to help others like him, and as a result, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christopher Columbus described it as the most beautiful thing human eyes have ever seen! Along with its rich culture, Cuba also has an aggressive history, flat geography, harsh government, rich culture, and a poor economy. First, Cuba is known for having an aggressive history. During Cuba s beginning, Christopher Columbus landed in Cuba in 1492. Many years later there was a measles outbreak in 1529 which killed most of the population at that time. A few hundred years later, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes led a rebellion to free Cuba in 1868. In 1898 Spain and the U.S. sign the treaty of Paris. In addition to Cuba s formative years, it has several newsworthy events. Cuba fought many wars like the ten years wars in 1868 1880 and the Little War in 1879 1880. In 1875 Cuba ended slavery. • 9. The Conflict Between Israel And Palestine Essay The conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged on since Israel s founding in the 1940s, the solution to this problem is not always straight forward or clear. It seems like everyone has formed their opinions and are stuck in their ways. The United Nations has even seem to accept the conflict as a certainty and for a large part does not wish to address it (Baker). However just because this problem is complex doesn t mean there is no hope for a solution. This conflict is generally seen as a war over where the border between these two states should lay, and due to the increase of extremism on both sides, whether both states should even exist or one state should prevail alone. However there is more complexities to the conflict then finding a mutual place for the border be drawn. There is the conflict over who will control the Holy City, Jerusalem. In addition there are concerns on both sides over security and the internal economy of each state. Finally is the problem that even if an agreement to form the two states were met and agreed upon, would these two vastly different and deeply opinionated states even be able to peaceful co exist in the future. With all the history and politics considered, for me the answer becomes clear; Palestine has the right to be a state and that state should in large part reflect their position they have presented to the international community. While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011). Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for investigation. We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead, alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that ... Solving White Tailed Deer With Hunting And Sterilization Samantha Shields 952673863 ENGL 030 001 Dr. Aaron Mauro 3 December 2014 Solving White Tailed Deer Overabundance With Hunting and Sterilization In the past few decades, white tailed deer populations in North America have increased drastically. Due to some relief in predation in correlation with changes in the environment deer populations in many zones meet or exceed 10 deer per square kilometer, which is a much higher ratio than in the 1960 s and 1970 s (Côté 116). With an overabundance of deer, many problems arise; the diversity and success of habitats decline, agriculture suffers, more deer vehicle collisions occur, and quite a few more issues appear. In order to maintain a healthy number of deer and reduce these issues, deer populations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An abundance of deer initially seems to indicate healthy habitats and flourishing wildlife; however, overabundance actually leads to severe problems for ecosystems. One of the reasons deer populations have been able to grow so exponentially is because many forested suburban areas allow for deer habitats with low risk of predation (Boulanger 174). In correlation with their suburban living, overpopulated deer end up crossing more roads and highways, posing as more pressing issues towards automobiles and trains and causing more frequent collisions. Next, and quite obviously, overabundance creates overcrowding in habitats. Less apparent, however, is the idea that with increased browsing of new tree seedlings, overpopulated deer decrease species diversity in forests and reduce tree growth, which leads to a lack of protection from erosion and floods (Côté 117). Deer also forage selectively, meaning certain species of plant will be eaten more frequently than others, often resulting in less diversity, ground coverage, and competition between plants (Côté 124). This, in turn, makes ecosystems less suitable to other species, in particular the foliage. Steeve Côté quotes Hobbs and Paine, who explain, By affecting competitive interactions among plants with varying levels of chemical defenses and by altering successional trajectories, deer alter ecosystem processes that include energy transfer, soil development, and ... • 30. The Between Sin And Purity The organization of Inferno is categorized by the escalation of crimes, from failure of the will, to transgressions of the mind; better described as the uncontrollable versus the sins you knowingly commit. Canto V of Inferno is the most memorable, and erotic, Canto throughout the Divine Comedy. In this Canto, the reader witnesses the integration of sin with purity, symbolizing the duality of human nature. The allegorizations represent a duality in mankind s freedom of choice; the choice to live a pure life or to commit sin. According to Dante a soul has the ability to intellectually reason. This ability means that each human is responsible for their own actions and choices as they might reason to control their natural appetites that lead to a sinful existence. The starving of one s lustful appetite is connected to the ritualistic fasting, Lent, that Christians undertake in order to absolve themselves of sin and thus seek a closer intimacy with God. There is heavy symbolism in Dante s portrayal of Paolo and Francesca which reveals the dichotomy between sin and purity that exists in Canto V. Imagery plays a crucial role when it comes to seeing the duality of the second circle. The laws of contrapasso creates a parallel of crimes one committed in life to match the nature of punishment found in death. The atmosphere of the second circle is designed to be the punishment for those who choose their emotion over reason. Like how these sinners acted on lust, renouncing the reason ... America desired to keep up with the imperialist fever that was raging through the European countries (Brinkley 604). Europe had already conquered and possessed a vast majority of Africa and other uncivilized lands. This provided these countries with new raw materials and foreign markets. America was falling behind. America had already practiced transcontinental imperialism for decades, but without extra territorial imperialism America was being left out. The closing of the frontier had produced widespread fear that America s natural resources would dwindle, necessitating foreign alternatives (Brinkley 605). The prolonged business depression in 1893 also encouraged the economic interest in the foreign markets available through imperialism (Healy 45). Total Thyroidectomy Total Versus Subtotal Thyroidectomy for Benign Multinodular Goiter: Outcome and Complications Introduction The surgical technique is one of the important factors affecting the outcome of thyroidectomy [1]. Primary thyroid disease, weight of dissected tissue and extent of surgical treatment are also points influencing patients outcome [2]. In the past, most surgeons avoided dissections in close proximity to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) to prevent its injury.
