The Looking Glass Wars
The Sky Isn t the Limit Anymore
The Looking Glass Wars by: Frank Beddor A caterpillar that smokes from pipes and eats tarty tarts is
only the beginning of Frank Beddor s first book in his trilogy The Looking Glass Wars. Many of us
are familiar with the infamous fairy tale of Alice who stumbles upon a hole that leads her to
Wonderland and meets strange characters like the Cheshire Cat and others. Now there are many
differences in Beddor s tale; not only is the Cat an assassin with nine lives but Alice the character we
grew up knowing has a different name, Alyss Heart. She is a young girl whose kingdom of
Wonderland is taken over by her blood thirsty and cruel Aunt Redd, who is truly the incarnation of
evil. This book is one with many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No two chapters start with the same perspective. One chapter can start off with the evil thoughts of
Redd or another chapter may start with our benevolent hero Alyss. The possibilities are endless with
all the characters in the book and each and every chapter holds surprises that will force you to read on
and hopefully find out what happened to that specific character. Readers find their love towards this
book similar to dividing a number by zero, its

Genre Exposed In The End Of Science Fiction
Through the science fiction genre we are able to see what is wrong with the world. The genre shows
us the truth about what is going on around us. Stories are inspired by the chaos around us. Shedding
light to situations that need to be exposed. The truth lays in between the lines of the stories. The
science fiction stories answer questions about life and how we are living it and where those decisions
we make might lead us to. Examples come from many stories that lead to societies being controlled
and having no freedom to be individuals. Stories are set in futuristic time settings were anything is
possible. Thanks to those ideas, people out in the real world take those fake or impossible things that
are written and turn them into reality. The science fiction genre is a stepping stone for all in life. We as
a race gain so much by the words written in those books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After naming examples of other stories that are seen to the author as new or unique . But all genres are
played out all genre is dead if one really thinks about it. Every author takes inspirations from the
world or even other authors so all types of genre have a common correlation because they have taken
inspiration from the same things as other writers. For example romance and stories around love are all
the same sappy story except the names and the place they might be. Other genres that have been
played out are stories about heroes. In every story that hero must overcome a huge obstacle and must
prepare for some huge event and in the end the hero always wins. So many genres can be listed as
dead because as time goes by the more stories are written and there s less to be written about. Less

Narrative Voice In The Awakening
In The Awakening, author Kate Chopin uses a narrative voice that shifts between the third person
limited, recounting Edna Pontellier s innermost thoughts and feelings and the third person omniscient,
that examines the perception of her by the people closest to her while she is absent, to recount the tale
of Edna Pontellier. Using these two alternating narrative voices allows for the absence of Edna in
certain scenes, this allows for the reader to experience her through the eyes of the people around her,
and ultimately gain a deeper, more comprehensive, understanding of the inner and outer forces that
shaped her perception of life and marriage.
The first example of this occurs early in the novel in a scene where Adele Ratignolle, one of Edna s
closest friends, requests of Robert Lebrun a favor, while the two of them walk alone she says, I only
ask for one [favor]; let Mrs. Pontellier alone. Adele sees Edna as somewhat meek and susceptible to
Roberts advances. Robert s flirting with married women is a recurring theme at Grand Isle, and is
usually playful, not to be taken seriously. Although in this case, his opposition to Adele s request,
shows that he may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Black Lives Matter Controversy
In recent years, there has been a variety of events that have occurred which caused people to realize
the inequality that still happens in modern day society. Between gay marriage becoming legal in 2015
and the recent presidential election, there have been many situations that have caused a form of
division between the people of the United States. A major group that has shed some light on the
inequality that occurs in modern day society is the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. The BLM
website states that this they label themselves as a group of 50+ organizations that have come together
with a renewed purpose to spread a common vision and agenda. Although many people view them as
a great step toward furthering equality amongst all people, there is a select group of people who
disagree. The Black Lives matter website also states that their common vision is to continue to move
towards a world in which the full humanity and dignity of all people is recognized. While doing this,
BLM also intends to include other groups of people who experience oppression. Such as the LBGTQ
community, women, Muslims, people who were previously or currently undocumented and much
more. One of the major arguments of the Black Lives Matter movement is to end the war on black
people. There have been many situations in the last two years that have been brought to light through
both social media and news broadcasting as well. The events that are causing a wide controversy

Sacramento
Both Ernesto Galarza s Barrio Boy and Joan Didion s Notes From a Native Daughter write about
Sacramento s past. Both authors talk about Sacramento during two different time periods. Joan Didion
talks about the mid century and Ernesto Galarza talks about the early 20th century. Although both
author s perspective of Sacramento differs from era to era, there are differences in certain
characteristics described by both authors. Galarza s essay focuses on an immigrant point of view
arriving into Sacramento versus Didion s experiences as a native decedent of Sacramento. Joan Didion

At the moment of its waking Sacramento lost...its character... (Didion 173). In other words, Didion is
pointing out how Sacramento is becoming more immoral as urbanization and industrialization occur.
However, what is most interesting is how Didion expresses Sacramento s loss of character through her
own experiences. For instance, Didion describes her wonderful memories basking in the Californian
sun, rivers, fields and valleys as a child, showcasing the real natural Sacramento. However, later on as
a n adult when she returns to Sacramento, Didion finds that the Sacramento she has been seeking is no
longer there, as a result of industrial development: It is hard to find California now, unsettling to
wonder how much of it was merely imagined or improvised; melancholy to realize how much of
anyone s memory no true memory at all...I have an indelibly vivid memory , for example, of how
Prohibition affected the hop growers around Sacramento... (Didion 57)
In the excerpt above Didion expresses how she was unable to reconnect with the California she grew
up with because of all the changes it has suffered. She also mentions prohibition, which by definition
is a reform movement that outlawed drinking because it s effects on the home, in order to really
capture how increasing industrialization led to the gradual loss of the traditional Californian way of
life. She uses prohibition as an example to show how people s ideas are shifting with the introduction
of urbanization;

Continuous Improvement
Data analysis is a critical component of the Continuous Improvement Model. For a school to make
improvements, the initial step should be inventorying the school s data to gain a baseline and make
data driven decisions. Within High School ABC 9th grade s data, there was an average of 54.5% of
students making learning gains in reading, with 0% difference for the three years. In the area of math
9th grade, students made an average of 65% average growth with a 1% three year growth difference.
On the other hand, within the lowest quartile of the 9th grade class, there has been more growth. In the
area of reading, there has been an average of 43.5% learning gains, with a 7% three year positive
difference. In the field of math, the lowest quartile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, there is some additional data need to identify the specific strategies needed to improve
the 9th grade learning gains. This additional data includes:
(1) The percentage of the 9th grade students who made learning gains, disaggregated by achievement
levels and subgroups in reading and math for three years: This data in available in the School Public
Accountability Report (SPAR). It is useful in narrowing the specific groups of students that are not
making gains, and identifying the areas of deficiencies and strengths.
(2) The percentage of the all 9th grade students that made learning gains which are also in the lowest
quartile for three years: This data can be gathered from the Individual Student Achievement Report
given to the school by the state for all state assessments. A list of all students who made learning gain
should be generated and compared to the students in the lowest quartile, to decide if the lowest
quartile of students are indeed making more growth than the remaining 9th grade

Hyperthermia Research Paper
Let s face it, it is nearly impossible to avoid heat. However, people forget there can be serious
consequences from too much heat intake. The most common reaction to overheating is heat stroke,
medically referred to as Hyperthermia. Hyperthermia occurs when the body is absorbing more heat
than it can give off. The body s temperature keeps climbing due to failed thermoregulation.
Thermoregulation is a homeostatic mechanism used by all living organisms to keep a stable internal
core temperature. All mechanisms function for one reason, to maintain homeostasis. When the body is
experiencing a lower or higher core temperature, it sends signals to the glands, muscles, organs and
parts of the nervous system. Instructions for the nervous system start ... Show more content on

That being said, it takes an abnormally high body temperature to be classified as hyperthermia.
Usually the body reaches an internal temperature of 104°F before it goes into shock and dies. It can be
caused from extreme weather conditions, drug use, other medical conditions could cause the body to
not be able to stabilize the internal core temperature. In order to treat hyperthermia, doctors need to
restore the temperature back to its normal 98.6°F. Serious consequences can come from hyperthermia,
including tissue damage, organ damage if the tissues are damaged severely, lesions on internal organs,
and sometimes fatality. Heat stroke occurs in both male and female. The illness effects people who are
over 50 more severely, because they are unable to fight off the increasing heat. Circulation is also poor
in elderly people due to deteriorating artery walls. This is a huge issue when dealing with
hyperthermia because older people will have a harder time circulating more blood cells to damaged
sites. Small children often suffer from heat stroke because they have a larger surface to weight ratio.
Treatment for hyperthermia is to cool down the body, but not to the point where the patient will
become hypothermic. Doctors use both internal and external techniques in order to balance the
temperature. A few signs and symptoms include dizziness, confusion from the heat affecting the
mental state of the patient and nausea. So remember to take caution when sitting out in the sun for
long periods of time. Your body is susceptible for hyperthermia and potentially other health

Anglican Churches
Newly ordained Anglican priests are given a bible to show that all their authority is rooted in scripture,
while priests that are ordained in the Roman Catholic church are given a chalice and a patten to
symbolize their receiving power to consecrate the Last Supper. The Anglican polity preserves the
ordained orders of bishops, presbyters priests, and deacons that go back to apostolic times. Although
there is no official doctrine of having a priest, some Anglicans consider it essential; some feel it is
needed for the proper ordering or fullness of a truly catholic church (Encyclopedia of Religion).
All Anglican churches are constitutionally governed. Each church has their own canons for executive
and legislative authorities (Encyclopedia of Religion). From the outside, we can see the ways the
Anglican approach to scripture is similar to the Catholic approach and also various Protestant views,
but it follows neither approach neatly. The Bible holds a place of supreme authority and formation of
beliefs in the Anglican community. Jesus Christ is one of the sure revelations of God and holy
scripture is one sure record that revelation itself is both inspired and revealed by God. ... Show more

Located on every continent, Anglicans speak many languages and come from different races and
cultures. Although the churches are self governed, they are also uniquely unified through their history,
their theology, their worship and their relationship to the ancient See of Canterbury. Anglicans uphold
the Catholic and Apostolic faith. Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Churches are committed
to the proclamation of the good news of the Gospel to the whole creation. In practice, this is based on
the revelation contained in Holy Scripture and the Catholic creeds and is interpreted in light of
Christian tradition, scholarship, reason, and

Pearl Harbor Air Raid Analysis
Because of the sudden attacks, the air raid on Pearl Harbor had three very unusual features regarding
the injuries for the medical personnel to deal with. First, there was a great number of casuaIties
received at the hospitals in a short period of time; second, many patients had been overboard at some
point and were covered with fuel oil; third, there was a very high percentage of burn cases (Hayden).
How did the hospitals handle all of these tragedies at once and remain successful?
Just 36 hours before the air raid, a lecture was given to all the medical personnel in the area about how
to handle the quantities of wounded in an attack setting. After, they had a scenario were stress was
placed on the personnel to quickly and adequately clean wounds by soap and water, followed by the
surgical removal of lacerated or contaminated tissue. Three criteria were to be fulfilled: (1) obtaining
normal color, (2) bleeding, and (3) muscle contraction. When this was completed, the next step was to
place in the wound an adequate amount of a sulfonamide drug, either sulfanilamide and sulfathiazole.
No wounds were to be sutured, but instead left wide open or to have nonabsorbable interrupted sutures

The Discovery Of The Space Station
Someday, somehow, Clarke knew that she would witness the beauty of Earth. She would be able to
feel the sun warm her skin, and have the wind kiss her cheeks as she walked through a forest. Maybe
she would watch a rabbit hop out of a bush, or follow butterflies as she wandered carelessly around
the ground if those creatures were still alive from all the radiation. Her father had always told her
stories about Earth, visualizing it as a heaven for the living. It had been nearly ninety seven years
since the last humans touched the Earth s surface, and only a couple hundred thousand had survived
long enough to make it to the Ark the space station where the last human beings have been living in
since the nuclear bombings. Had the humans not been at conflict with one another, then maybe they
would still be inhabitants of Earth. But war brought distrust, and distrust in the other countries led to
nuclear warfare. While watching the old documentaries of the last surviving humans retelling their
stories of Earth, Clarke realized how different the Ark was, and how she would never live to her fullest
until she was on the ground. The Ark was always cold, and empty, and the oxygen she breathed felt, if
she could describe it in a word, fake. Surely, Clarke had never before breathed oxygen from the
ground, but its as almost as if her mind knew the oxygen she breathed wasn t right. As she sat against
the stone wall of her small cell, she stared at her drawings of Earth. With only a

Watership Down
The extraordinary novel, Watership Down, by Richard Adams is an adventure filled, meaningful piece
of literature published in London around November 1972. Although the plot is about a group of
rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course the book can
be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact.
This piece is a great example of an author speaking their voice through writing.
The beginning of the novel takes place at the home of the Owsla Rabbits, which could be classified as
a corrupt democracy. When Fiver, one of the main character s, senses something terrible is going to

This idea may be more important than others just because it gives somewhat of a moral lesson on how
to succeed in life. Without the rabbits great work ethic and strong will they would not have made it to
Watership Down. Even after they were worn to the brim and some even injured, they kept on going
because they had a good leader and a bright vision of their future. They continued to go even when
some had became skeptical. This leads into another small side note that, no one was ever left behind.
When Pipkin, a small loyal rabbit was injured, he was not left behind. The group came up with the
water raft idea to get him across the river, because they cared and looked out for one another.Hazel
also took the time to examine him and help to heal his foot so they could continue on with their
journey. You can almost trace this back to the beginning of the book, when Hazel and Fiver were
about to embark on their trip they could have saved themselves and left, but they didn t. They warned
the others and gave an invitation to anyone that wanted to go. They tried to save anyone and everyone
that they could, because they couldn t leave anyone

Amber Summerss Dualism
Her Kawaii shaped viridian eyes that have stared at me simultaneously, in intimacy and distance.
Cupid s bow lips that I m well acquainted with but yet, never shared an innocent kiss of hello or

Ultimately, all these amenities did not provide her with the perfection of angelic beauty but more the
imperfection in sex appeal, as she stretched languorously, naked on black velvet covers, bored out of

Negative Effects Of The Pol Pot Regime
Prior to the history of the Pol Pot Regime that occurred in Cambodia, there were many conflicts that

drastic changes, and many of the citizens were forced to leave their own lifestyles.1 The importance of
a changing government could be seen as crucial because during this time period, government

Abu Ghraib Documentary Analysis
I began my research first by watching a documentary on Abu Ghraib. In 2008, director Errol Morris
released a documentary called standard operating procedure. The purpose of this video was to
demonstrate how powerful pictures are and how American soldiers had no respect for human dignity
when relating to the tortures and conditions the inmates had faced. The saying pictures are worth a
thousand words plays a key role here because all the pictures that were taken at this prison portrays
the hardships of the inmates. According to officer Sabrina, she wrote to her friend Kelly saying,
sandbags were put over their heads while we soaked them in hot sauce, and this exemplifies that the
officers did not care whatsoever as to what kind of crimes they are committing. Morris uses ... Show

If I were to watch the same film without any background music it would not have the same effect
because the music adds suspense and persuades me to take an approach. Not only did Morris use
pathos but he also had a distinct style when directing this short film. His style consists of having his
interviewees talk directly into the camera. He uses a method that is known as interrotron, which had
made his works famous. Interrotron is when the director is seen as opposed to a script, meaning the
person being questioned is looking precisely at the director. I think this is important because this way
the audience builds a relationship with the interviewees. Guards tried to persuade the audience that the
methods they used were justified because higher officials, Military Intelligence, told them it was right.
This just shows that the officers needed a reason to believe these acts were appropriate as opposed to
differentiating from what is right and wrong. But when the guards were interviewed individually they
rephrased what they said to blame their acts on higher officials and draw less attention to

Rise of US to power during the 20th century Essay
The U.S. Rise
There were many factors that contributed to the United States rise and roles as a world power during
the early 20th century. Presidential policies during this time period were the foundation of the U.S. s
role as a world power. The conflict in the Philippines was evidence of the U.S. s ability to crush
uprising and control a territory. The Spanish American War demonstrates the U.S. s role as a world
power. Although the U.S. was only about a century old it s influence drastically affected the whole

Finally the U.S. passed the Jones Act of 1916 which allowed Philippino citizens to elect officials.
After years of delayed independence the U.S. finally granted the Phillipines independence on July 4,

Although President McKinley tried to avoid a war with Spain it seemed to be inevitable. The trouble
began with journalism exploiting Spanish atrocities. Then, a battleship blew up and was falsely
identified as a Spanish attack. The U.S. first took hold of a Spanish colony (the Philippines) which it
later used as a stepping stone to trade with other countries. Then, they fought battles in Cuba (another
Spanish colony) and conquered that along with Puerto Rico. By winning the Spanish American War
the U.S. gained a position as an imperialist country.
After much bloodshed the United States secured it s position as an imperialist and world power.
Presidents such as Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson came under power and called for expansion and
imperialism all over the globe. The United States choice of action in the Philippines was just one
example of it s imperialistic characteristics. The Spanish American War brought a lot of power to the
United States. During the early 20th century the United States of America became and stayed an
imperialist power.

For those who were stubborn, there was a serious consequence.
Those judged to be unmanageable or defiant might be sent to even more isolates places of secondary

Nanocrystalline Materials Essay
Introduction To explain nanocrystalline materials, it should have been explained that nano concept at
first. Nanostructures are relatively new and interesting subject to investigate, they are in a scale which
is between 0 100 nanometers (1 nanometer, nm is equal to 10 9 meter). There are some types of
nanostructured materials such as lamellar (1 dimensional), filamentary (2 dimensional) and crystallites
(3 dimensional). If grains of the material are made up of crystals, then nanocrystalline materials term
is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials have grains which are the size of 100 nm
typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of SnO2 is imaged with STM as seen in Fig. 1 [1]
and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig. 1. STM image of
nanocrystalline SnO2 [1] Fig. 2. SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films. [2] In
nanocrystalline materials there are numerous superior properties which actually are very useful and
promising about future works and applications. The reason for the superior properties is that
nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms at their grain boundaries which are in
nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced and increased by making
nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse grained materials are higher strength, higher hardness,
increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on [3]. This is why people have studied

Manual Labour Movement Essay
The independent educational action of 1826 through 1876 emphasized the rise of the manual labor
movement and mechanics institutes. The contributions of several educational leaders and their
importance to the teaching field and vocational education are discussed. Other represented
achievements from the Morrill Act, the Hampton Institute, and the Kalamazoo Case are discussed and
their significance in the history of vocational education.
The Manual Labor Movement
During the early 1800 s, different schools served different functions. Mechanic s Institutes combined
practice with the study of science. Lyceums attended to cultural as well as educational needs and
aroused interest in agricultural and industrial education. The manual labor movement attempted to
meet the needs of the farmer, mechanic, vocational education, and a way of satisfying a practical need
of a population. In addition, Manual Labor Academies included academic studies as well as time
working in a shop. The Education committee felt this combination of studies and labor contributed to
the development of a better citizen. The combination of labor and education created a strong base for
vocational education. Although the manual labor movement lost momentum by the time of the Civil
War, it had set in motion significant developments concerning education of women, agricultural ...

Last, but not least, documentation is key. A good interrogator would record everything from: verbal

(truth sleuth) When commencing a criminal interrogation, the detective must be exceedingly prepared.
It is required to know facts like: marital status, criminal background, children, address, job, hobbies?
The more information the detective gathers, the better. While they need to be fully interrogated, it is
important that they also feel like they can trust the interrogator and possibly relate. The interrogator
must also exercise caution, if they provide facts that turn out to be false, they can lose all tenability.

impartial and some are very loaded and must be in a controlled environment. The purpose of this is to
provide detectives with nonverbal behaviors, that are designed to see the suspect appears to be guilty
or not. After the questions are asked, the detective will head into the next room to pick up a folder and
tell the suspect that they are accused or not, and proceed to sit down and get the confession. (real life

Essay on Characters of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
Characters of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
The title What you Will is a perfect summary of the whole play. This story is about deception in
character, being something you are not; whether it being disguising gender, true feelings or beliefs.
We never no the real to why Viola chose to disguise her gender. We must assume that she wants to
conceal her identity until she has gathered enough information about where she is and maybe feels
safer dressed as a boy. He is resourceful and does not take pity on herself, despite the fact she thinks

Until her twin displays the same quality, Viola is the only character to be constant and unshakeable in
the object of her love. She has remained faithful into longing for Duke Orsino even though he is
clearly infatuated with Olivia.
Twin of Viola, Sebastian has a high noble status but appears on stage very little until the final Act. The
purpose of Sebastian is to foil the misunderstandings in the plot.
Provident in peril, Sebastian shares many of his qualities in addition to their physical similarities.
Like Orsino, Sebastian is quick to respond to a beautiful woman. He develops affection for Olivia
without reservation although he knows something is odd I the way she was rushing things to claim
him before he changes his mind.
At the beginning of the play he thought he had lost his sister, but by the end of the play he finds his
sister and gains a wife with minimum effort.
His character is largely defined by the way it mirrors that of his sisters; whom we get to know quite
well and have a great deal of respect for.
Sebastian is more of a device to drive the plot. When he arrives in Illyria, all the confusion and
misunderstandings are soon sorted out and most are happy. Olivia got her young, strapping man. Viola
got the Duke she fell in love with while being his message boy.
Orsino is the first character introduced in the play. Wallowing in

Civil Rights Case Summary
Civil rights are the rights yet privileges that all individuals can enforce (Hall, 2014). Civil rights are
those rights that are granted to individuals through the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is recognized

individual s civil liberties. The Bill of Rights consists of the Right to free speech, Right to bear arms,
No unauthorized quartering of soldiers, Freedom from search and seizure, Freedom from self

This case involves both Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving. Mildred is a black woman and Richard is a

Exploring the Current day Impact of the Canadian Indian...
When someone speaks of great inequalities and human rights violations, very seldom is Canada as a
nation (in a broader sense,) conjured together with these thoughts. However, in reality probably some
of the greatest human right violations within our time and even within the late modern period, and
most concerning examples of them, can be found through looking back into Canadian history. For
many this may be a surprise to hear, however for others, specifically the native population of Canada,
we can assume this is well understood. Commonly known today as Indian residential schools, a great
act of wrong was committed under the command and leadership of the Canadian government starting
back with elementary roots through the passage of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Corporal punishment and cruelties were seen when such things as previously discussed, like practice
of cultural and usage of native language, were practiced by native children in these residential schools.
Lack of basic life necessities in these residential schools also resulted in disturbing mortality rates.
Several doctors commissioned to inspect and report on health standings of children in residential
school, found results that would bring horror in relation to current world standards. One doctor by the
name of Dr. Bryce, found that in Western Canadian residential schools between 1894 1908,
throughout a five year period thirty to sixty percent of a class would die (Bryce, 1922). These findings
and others were published in Dr. Bryce s book, The Story of a National Crime: Being a Record of the
Health Conditions of the Indians of Canada from 1904 to 1921. In total it is estimated over 3000
children died from disease and lack of basic necessities during the time of government run Indian
residential schools in Canada from 1884 to the final closing in 1996 (The Canadian Press, 2013).
Mortality rates demonstrate well the scale and cruelty of the human right violations that occurred in
these residential schools, but only begins to touch the surface of other atrocities such as previously
mentioned. Physical and sexual abuse was common and in most cases severe, and punishments and

Surgery is a direct, manual approach to fixing the body. Surgery is dangerous since anesthetics,
infections, organ rejection and missed cancer cells can all cause failure. DRUG THERAPY: It affects

The first Scottish parliament building was created in September 1997 after a referendum in which
people of Scotland voted by almost three to one. The client, the Scottish government decided on
building a complex building from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite. The procurement route chosen

explains the procurement route chosen was to turn out to be the most significant decisions during the

disadvantage of price uncertainty until the last has been leased. Construction management was chosen
not only for allowing the project to be started quickly and the reduction in overall construction. But
the procurement route allows for change in design during the project and problems are generally
solved rather than passed around the separate contractors.

Eskridge and Rex Terwilliger, the principal sent a statement declaring Ms. Eskridge on administrative

the power to relieve a teacher from duty temporarily. The letter must be written on letterhead and hand

evidence that Ms. Eskridge s presence at school would cause disruption or serious harm to personnel,
Coach Terwilliger. The Georgia Professional Standards states, the treatment of the employee must be
consistent with that of others who have been disciplined for similar violations. There is no
documentation that Coach Terwilliger received the same treatment for his behavior during their
encounter even though documentation shows that he spoke equally as derogatory as Ms. Eskridge.
Superintendent Knight then sent a follow up notice of suspension and attempted to make it retroactive
for the days she was out on administrative leave per the principal. The letter failed to include the
names of the known witnesses and a concise summary of the evidence to be used against her, and the
time and place of a hearing. Both the superintendent and the principal have violated the Official Code
of Georgia. At this point the Board is not able to transfer Ms. Eskridge since it would appear to be

Stories are inspired by the chaos around us. Shedding light to situations that need to be exposed. The truth lays in between the lines of the stories. The science fiction stories answer questions about life and how we are living it and where those decisions we make might lead us to. Examples come from many stories that lead to societies being controlled and having no freedom to be individuals. Stories are set in futuristic time settings were anything is possible. Thanks to those ideas, people out in the real world take those fake or impossible things that are written and turn them into reality. The science fiction genre is a stepping stone for all in life. • 4. Narrative Voice In The Awakening In The Awakening, author Kate Chopin uses a narrative voice that shifts between the third person limited, recounting Edna Pontellier s innermost thoughts and feelings and the third person omniscient, that examines the perception of her by the people closest to her while she is absent, to recount the tale of Edna Pontellier. Using these two alternating narrative voices allows for the absence of Edna in certain scenes, this allows for the reader to experience her through the eyes of the people around her, and ultimately gain a deeper, more comprehensive, understanding of the inner and outer forces that shaped her perception of life and marriage. The first example of this occurs early in the novel in a scene where Adele Ratignolle, one of Edna s closest friends, requests of Robert Lebrun a favor, while the two of them walk alone she says, I only ask for one [favor]; let Mrs. Pontellier alone. Adele sees Edna as somewhat meek and susceptible to Roberts advances. Robert s flirting with married women is a recurring theme at Grand Isle, and is usually playful, not to be taken seriously. A major group that has shed some light on the inequality that occurs in modern day society is the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. The BLM website states that this they label themselves as a group of 50+ organizations that have come together with a renewed purpose to spread a common vision and agenda. Although many people view them as a great step toward furthering equality amongst all people, there is a select group of people who disagree. The Black Lives matter website also states that their common vision is to continue to move towards a world in which the full humanity and dignity of all people is recognized. While doing this, BLM also intends to include other groups of people who experience oppression. In other words, Didion is pointing out how Sacramento is becoming more immoral as urbanization and industrialization occur. For instance, Didion describes her wonderful memories basking in the Californian sun, rivers, fields and valleys as a child, showcasing the real natural Sacramento. However, later on as a n adult when she returns to Sacramento, Didion finds that the Sacramento she has been seeking is no longer there, as a result of industrial development: It is hard to find California now, unsettling to wonder how much of it was merely imagined or improvised; melancholy to realize how much of anyone s memory no true memory at all...I have an indelibly vivid memory , for example, of how Prohibition affected the hop growers around Sacramento... • 8. Hyperthermia Research Paper Let s face it, it is nearly impossible to avoid heat. However, people forget there can be serious consequences from too much heat intake. The most common reaction to overheating is heat stroke, medically referred to as Hyperthermia. Hyperthermia occurs when the body is absorbing more heat than it can give off. The body s temperature keeps climbing due to failed thermoregulation. Thermoregulation is a homeostatic mechanism used by all living organisms to keep a stable internal core temperature. All mechanisms function for one reason, to maintain homeostasis. When the body is experiencing a lower or higher core temperature, it sends signals to the glands, muscles, organs and parts of the nervous system. Instructions for the nervous system start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, it takes an abnormally high body temperature to be classified as hyperthermia. Usually the body reaches an internal temperature of 104°F before it goes into shock and dies. It can be caused from extreme weather conditions, drug use, other medical conditions could cause the body to not be able to stabilize the internal core temperature. In order to treat hyperthermia, doctors need to restore the temperature back to its normal 98.6°F. Serious consequences can come from hyperthermia, including tissue damage, organ damage if the tissues are damaged severely, lesions on internal organs, and sometimes fatality. Heat stroke occurs in both male and female. The illness effects people who are over 50 more severely, because they are unable to fight off the increasing heat. Circulation is also poor in elderly people due to deteriorating artery walls. This is a huge issue when dealing with hyperthermia because older people will have a harder time circulating more blood cells to damaged sites. Small children often suffer from heat stroke because they have a larger surface to weight ratio. Treatment for hyperthermia is to cool down the body, but not to the point where the patient will become hypothermic. Doctors use both internal and external techniques in order to balance the temperature. A few signs and symptoms include dizziness, confusion from the heat affecting the mental state of the patient and nausea. So remember to take caution when sitting out in the sun for long periods of time. Your body is susceptible for hyperthermia and potentially other health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anglican Churches Newly ordained Anglican priests are given a bible to show that all their authority is rooted in scripture, while priests that are ordained in the Roman Catholic church are given a chalice and a patten to symbolize their receiving power to consecrate the Last Supper. The Anglican polity preserves the ordained orders of bishops, presbyters priests, and deacons that go back to apostolic times. Although there is no official doctrine of having a priest, some Anglicans consider it essential; some feel it is needed for the proper ordering or fullness of a truly catholic church (Encyclopedia of Religion). All Anglican churches are constitutionally governed. Each church has their own canons for executive and legislative authorities (Encyclopedia of Religion). From the outside, we can see the ways the Anglican approach to scripture is similar to the Catholic approach and also various Protestant views, but it follows neither approach neatly. She would be able to feel the sun warm her skin, and have the wind kiss her cheeks as she walked through a forest. Maybe she would watch a rabbit hop out of a bush, or follow butterflies as she wandered carelessly around the ground if those creatures were still alive from all the radiation. Her father had always told her stories about Earth, visualizing it as a heaven for the living. It had been nearly ninety seven years since the last humans touched the Earth s surface, and only a couple hundred thousand had survived long enough to make it to the Ark the space station where the last human beings have been living in since the nuclear bombings. Had the humans not been at conflict with one another, then maybe they would still be inhabitants of Earth. But war brought distrust, and distrust in the other countries led to nuclear warfare. While watching the old documentaries of the last surviving humans retelling their stories of Earth, Clarke realized how different the Ark was, and how she would never live to her fullest until she was on the ground. The saying pictures are worth a thousand words plays a key role here because all the pictures that were taken at this prison portrays the hardships of the inmates. He uses a method that is known as interrotron, which had made his works famous. Interrotron is when the director is seen as opposed to a script, meaning the person being questioned is looking precisely at the director. I think this is important because this way the audience builds a relationship with the interviewees. Guards tried to persuade the audience that the methods they used were justified because higher officials, Military Intelligence, told them it was right. Flaws In Othello Essay Research Essay: Othello by William Shakespeare Was Othello a victim of circumstances or his own flaws? by Alijaeh Go 9B4 First performed in the court of King James I on November 1 1604, The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice was written by William Shakespeare between 1601 and 1604. The basic premise of the play is the protagonist s (Othello s) marriage with the daughter of the senator, Desdemona: Their marriage, unfortunately, is sabotaged by the envious Iago, insinuating to Othello of his wife s alleged infidelity. The play reaches its climactic peak when the general s jealousy vows to exact bloody revenge on the perpetrators (Desdemona and Cassio) that caused him to be a cuckold . All of Iago s schemes come into fruition when the noble Moor smothers his wife to death: The play spirals further downhill with most of the cast either dead, severely injured or in Iago s case, on the process to be tortured. Based from this summary, a mere observer would conclude that the reason for Othello s downfall is his hamartia his incessant jealousy that caused for his rash actions. • 21. Nanocrystalline Materials Essay Introduction To explain nanocrystalline materials, it should have been explained that nano concept at first. Nanostructures are relatively new and interesting subject to investigate, they are in a scale which is between 0 100 nanometers (1 nanometer, nm is equal to 10 9 meter). There are some types of nanostructured materials such as lamellar (1 dimensional), filamentary (2 dimensional) and crystallites (3 dimensional). If grains of the material are made up of crystals, then nanocrystalline materials term is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials have grains which are the size of 100 nm typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of SnO2 is imaged with STM as seen in Fig. 1 [1] and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig. 1. STM image of nanocrystalline SnO2 [1] Fig. 2. SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films. [2] In nanocrystalline materials there are numerous superior properties which actually are very useful and promising about future works and applications. The reason for the superior properties is that nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms at their grain boundaries which are in nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced and increased by making nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse grained materials are higher strength, higher hardness, increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on [3].
