What Does A Patient Mean To You
What does patients mean to you? The poem by Phillips Brooks is, Be patient and understanding Life
is too short to be vengeful or malicious. To me that poem is what I live for. I have so many times
where all i wanted to do was say something, but I couldn t because of my job. Being patient is the key
to life. Never do anything you will regret in the long run.
I have had jobs where I have had to wait on very rude customers. I worked at Cara, a salon. I
remember this one time where i had wait on this one rude lady. I was polite, like I always am. I first
asked her if she wanted any water, she responded with If you don t touch the glass, I would like some.

honestly so shocked when I got the phone call. I went in for the interview and I had started working
the next day. Till this day I still have my job and I m very happy with what I do. You always run into
very rude customers, but you always have to stay patient. I remember the day that I started, I was so
nervous that I would mess up. A few months came along, and well, I ran into that difficult customer.
This one man asked me if I could get something for him and of course I said yes. He was asking me to
get, I think a candle from the top shelf of aisle number four. Well the front called me to go and bag,
while I was heading up to the front, he yelled at me requesting that I stay and help. I didn t want to
anger the man or one of the cashiers, so I called one of the managers to help the man. As I was
finishing up, he came up to me and was yelling at me in front of all these customers, I was turning red.
I was being as patient as I could and then a manager asked what was wrong. The man said that I just
walked off and didn t help him. I helped the man and then I bagged his groceries, I carried out for him

The Frontier In American Culture Summary
In the book The Frontier In American culture the two authors Limerick and White try to address the
many different topics throughout the book and try to appreciate their influence in American history
and culture. The authors of the book address the different topics with the help of many different
artifacts from the Newberry Library, also the authors show their attitudes toward the old American
west and explain to us how we know and understand that time era. Throughout the book White tries to
argue that both men s vision of the American west were both somewhat equally important to our
understanding of the historical conceptions of the frontier. White proves his thesis through many
different warrant from meaningful documents, beautiful sketches,

Purpose Statement For Diabetes
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
According to International Diabetes Federation, approximately 592 million people worldwide would
be suffering from diabetes by 2035 and this would be a major economic burden to the society globally.
Detail knowledge of normal physiological processes at cellular and molecular level will give me a
better understanding in dealing with pathological conditions in human body. Insight of the structure
and function of organelles, chemical composition of enzymes, hormones, their interaction and
expression in structural and functional unit of life can significantly help in bringing down morbidity
and mortality associated with metabolic disorders like diabetes and various other diseases. Grown up
in a family of medical professionals, the curiosity to explore various life processes was not only
acquired but also inherent. I want to take a leap forward of what my parents and grandparents practice
and Cell and Molecular Physiology or Immunology as major will surely make me accomplish in
achieving my aim of life.

Hernan Cortes Essay
Hernan Cortes
Myths are hangups from way back :[1] false or highly inaccurate beliefs that are taken at face value.
One collection of myths which has exercised a powerful grip on the minds of many, and contributed to
feelings of inferiority on the part of large numbers of pure or mixed descendants of Native Americans
in the region of northern Mesoamerica,2 has to do with the conquest of the Aztec Empire by
HernanCortes and his followers in the early sixteenth century. This paper attempts to shatter one of
these myths; namely, that Cortes was an extraordinarily brave and intelligent individual who
accomplished an almost miraculous feat. It will do so by making use of the twin concepts of virtu and
fortuna.
These two terms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both decisions were based on his ignorance of the actual power of the Triple Alliance and the
confederation of Tlaxcallan.[7]
Cortes underestimated these two because of his early experiences in Mesoamerica. Although they
initially tried to avoid confrontations with the native communities, the Spaniards had to engage in
several battles against a coalition of Maya armies near Potonchan (located in the present day state of
Tabasco). However, they were able to win these battles thanks to the superiority of their weapons and
military tactics.
The outcome of these skirmishes was quickly known! by the Triple Alliance. As a result, when Cortes
arrived in the region of Totonacapan, this alliance opted in favor of a strategy of deterrence rather than
war. Envoys sent by Tenochtitlan established contact with Cortes and presented him with a series of
lavish gifts that were meant to indicate the might of the Triple Alliance.[8] However, the strategy
backfired because Cortes was unable to grasp the symbolism of the gifts and interpreted them as a sign
of weakness. Moreover, the great quantity of gold given to the Spaniards made them all the more
determined to reach Tenochtitlan.

Peta Animal Rights
Although we have, in theory, abolished human slavery, recognized women s rights, and stopped child
labor, we continue to enslave other species who, if we simply pay attention, show quite clearly that
they experience parental love, pain, and the desire for freedom, just as we do once said Ingrid
Newkirk, beloved animal rights activist and cofounder of the largest animal rights organizations,
PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. There is a much bigger picture than which lies
centered on the human species. Earth is inhabited with a rich variety of about eight million species,
most of which have been thought to exist for millions of years before humans evolved. The array of
diversity of life on our planet is mind blowing, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The admired biologist and conservationist E.O. Wilson once said, we should preserve every scrap of
biodiversity as priceless while we learn to use it and come to understand what it means to humanity.
This quote seems to encompass the overall main goal of zoologists: to preserve biodiversity, and while
we have it, study and examine it, and make discoveries that could help save all those on this planet.
Dr. Tim Cockerel, in a published interview with BBC, defined his job as a zoologist as someone who
studies species from anything to the diversity of animals, to how animals interact with other living
things, to how animals and humans interact with each other, and how we can make plans to save
threatened or endangered species for the future years to come (Cockerill). The typical zoologist
observes animals in a variety of settings, while studying behavioral tendencies, their natural habitat,
and how their acquired traits are passed down from generation to generation. Some daily activities of a
zoologist include dissection of animal specimens, preparation of slides of disease tissue under
microscopes, studying aggression or mating behaviors, testing the effects of drugs on animals, and
directing biological technicians who work alongside them. They may write scientific reports,
inventory or estimate wildlife populations, consult with management systems, must articulate well and
understand others. Many people who are involved in this field publish articles about their recent
research. The typical employers of zoologists include government departments, universities, private
research firms, biotechnology companies, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, pharmaceutical agriculture, or
food research companies, environmental consulting firms, and possibly other private organizations. A
zoologist may

Greek Influence On Roman Society
Thanks to our course, it teaches me something I didn t know before. This week, what I learnt was
ancient Greek actually forged Roman society and its past glories. Apart from their historical
connections, it turned out Greek was an inspiration for Roman s outstanding achievements, to an
extent, if the proverb all roads lead to Rome presents this city state s central position in Antiquity, I
will think Roman s success owed its origin to Greek, to say the least. In my opinion, Greece was the
true begetter of Roman empire s economic and political miracles.
Although the two are both Mediterranean countries, but Greece had a major influence on the
development of Roman arts, governmental system, literature, and many more. In a way, Romans
internalized a set of Greek values which they ingeniously conflated Greek traditional charm with
Roman local idioms, then continuously built on that solid foundation and made some exciting
breakthroughs thereafter.
In addition, as Noreen Gunnell (2012) indicated, ancient Romans loved all things Greek. In the
highest form of flattery, the Romans copied Greek architecture, sculpture, and mythology...the Roman
god and myths are the Greek gods and myths...the Romans were enamored by all things Greek... To
me, it was understandable that Romans put Greek culture on a pedestal, because from psychological ...

The US Economy 1970-1970
According to political and journalistic rhetoric, the United States rely on a market economy that
allocates financial resources. Thus, the forces of supply and demand, generally unaffected by
government intervention, are perceived as determining the quantities, qualities and prices of goods and
services produced in the domestic economy. The origins of this belief probably relapse into two
distinctive features of the US economy, the development of private ownership of capital, combined
with a relatively small business, public sector and the absence of a strong centralized economic
planning. However, this common belief is a myth long.
Through the civil law and regulation, state and local governments and the federal government

First of all, every economic sector that was subject to economic regulation before 1975, has undergone
significant changes in the nature and extent of regulation. These changes had profound effects on the
structure of industries, price levels, costs and productivity. The industries in which changes occurred
in economic regulations are the carriers, heavy transport, public transport, railways,
telecommunications, production and transportation of natural gas, cable television, banking and
financial services , electricity and property insurance and liability. These industries vary in structure,
behavior, nature of regulation, and distribution of responsibilities between federal and state regulatory
authorities. There are also wide variations in the major reasons, causes, and consequences of
regulatory changes in these industries.
The airlines and trucking industry were the clearest almost total price and entry regulation cases. Until
1977 the air fares and route structures were severely regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB)

for my grammar mistakes in paragraphs. For example, the use of an article like a, an and the in the
sentence formation. The other example is how to use proper tense in the sentence. The new skills I
developed that, I will always proofread my work so I can catch my grammar mistakes. The second
learning outcome is how to structure my paragraph

and the competences of myself. I believe it is my own responsibilities to be sensitive about the

intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, I will make observations of people and the environments,
to always best understand what situation I am and try to set up some prevention measurements to set

stronger. And the most important thing is, I will never try to do harms to people because I can
simultaneously be more sensitive to know whether if there is any harm to others by the measurements

Saul Bellow Seize the Day the Water Imagery
Water Imagery in Seize the Day
Saul Bellow s Seize the Day is one of the most profoundly sad novels to be written since Tender is the
Night. On this day of reckoning, during the seven hours or so that comprise the action of the novel, all
the troubles that constitute the present condition of Wilhelm Adler descend upon him and crush him,
leaving him penniless, alone, and in such profound misery that one can hardly imagine his going on.
He is, as he says, at the end of his rope. This has been one of those days, he says to his wife, May I
never live to go through another like it. We feel that he may not live at all, so great is his misery, so
completely has he been destroyed.
Yet if we look more deeply, more accurately, we see that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They were his brothers and sisters. He was imperfect and disfigured himself, but what difference did
that make if he was united with them by this blaze of love? And as he walked he began to say, Oh my
brothers my brothers and my sisters, blessing them all as well as himself.
Although such feelings never last long and are usually fled from rather than welcomed, on this day of
reckoning he remembers this experience and thinks, I must go back to that. That s the right clue and
may do me the most good. Something very big. Truth, like.
This affirmation, feeble as it is, constitutes his own dim recognition of the saving end of what more
often appears to him as a destructive element his own intensely emotional nature. He continually
blames his failures on his strong and often uncontrollable emotions; yet we are finally made aware
that it is just this capacity to feel, more specifically this need to love and be loved, that makes possible
the birth of Wilhelm s soul at the end of the novel. Ultimately, the clearest indication that the action of
Seize the Day is ironic is found in Bellow s attitude toward man s emotional nature, not just as
revealed in this novel but throughout his writing. That Bellow is in the tradition of the great English
Romantic poets Wordsworth in particular in this respect has been brilliantly argued by Irvin Stock in
[The Southern Review, Winter 1967].
Understanding the structure of Bellow s novel to be ironic, we are now able to state its major

Youth Leadership And The Rotary Interact Club
Some background about me is that I have been a part of the Rotary Interact Club for 2 years now and
this year I am holding a board position as co treasurer. Other leadership position I have held were
organizing club projects, including a small program to help a local woman with cancer walk her dog.
I believe that youth leadership is one of the most important aspects in our society today. Starting
leadership from a young age not only helps develop crucial leadership skills for all future jobs/careers
but it is also very healthy for individuals to involve themselves in leadership. Developing leadership
skills early on in life helps people find their identity, learning to listen to others and influence others is
a great way to build social skills.

Darfur Rebellion Essay
In spring 2003, the Sudanese government promised land to Arab tribes who agreed to control the
Darfur Liberation Front (DLF) rebellion. This was the foundation of the genocide. In April of 2003,
rebels from the DLF attacked the Sudanese air force base in Al Fashir. The DLF divided into two
units: the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).
In July 2003, militias were formed by nomadic Arab tribes. They were named the Janjaweed, which
means devil on horseback in Arab. The Janjaweed and the Sudanese government wreak havoc
throughout Darfur by kidnapping Darfuris, burning and looting villages, and raping and killing their

Lgbtc Reflection Paper
LGBTQ I would say that my views on the LGBTQ community haven t really changed, but rather, I ve
gotten a better picture of what LGBTQ experiences are outside of my own cluster of friends who
identify within the LGBTQ community. As a high school student, my LGBTQ wasn t a big deal. I
wanted to confirm this fact and asked the few friends I knew from my hometown that had been out in
in high school what their experiences were like. They had been afraid to come out because they knew
other students that had run into issues in rural districts, but like the You ve Got to Talk Him Out of It
article by Nicholas Pace said, we should remember that our school might surprise us (Pace 39).
Gender Gender has always been a hot button topic for me. I ve experienced, first hand, discrimination
that occurs based on gender, but this semester has taught me a lot more about gender than I expected.
Thanks to the discussions on LGBTQ and gender, I understand that while the topics overlap, the idea
of sexual orientation, sex, and gender are very different things. In the Who Said It? article, written by
Jessica Press, it is stated that, even before you re born, doctors can tell if you re a boy or a girl based
on your body that s your sex. But your gender falls along a spectrum. We hold onto these categories of
being masculine or feminine, but there are degrees inbetween (Press 16). Gender has too many
stereotypes associated with it and I think it s vitally important to help our future students deconstruct
those stereotypes.
Race I would say that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to racial bias and racial issues. This
semester taught me how to understand and work through implicit bias. Before this semester, I didn t
know what implicit bias was, but I understood the concept because I was able to recognize my
thoughts when situations occurred. I ve spent a long time worrying that I was racist and that I wouldn t
be able to overcome that part of me that I ve never meant to have. I m not sure if I m supposed to be
comforted by the fact that I can now give that feeling a name, or not. It s nice to know I m not crazy,
but more importantly, I now have more knowledge on the subject so that I can better handle any

Juvenile Crime Law Is A Subcategory Of Juvenile Law
Juvenile Crime Law is a subcategory of Juvenile Law. Although a type of criminal law, juvenile crime
law only deals with under age individuals, who are treated very differently than adults in criminal law,
and usually have their own courts of law (Juvenile Criminal Law, n.d.). When it comes to crime, kids
usually go through a different process than adults. But they still have to face consequences ( Juvenile
Crimes Juvenile Justice Nolo.com, n.d.).
Juvenile Criminal Law is a relevant issue in today s juvenile criminal Justice system. A growing
number of states are re examining and amending juvenile laws to reduce unnecessary reliance on
secure confinement. Minors under the age of 18 years, who commit a crime, or otherwise violate
established rules and statutes, are identified as juvenile delinquents, juvenile offenders, youthful
offenders, or delinquent minors. When the police arrest a minor, or juvenile, there are differences from
arresting an adult. While the juvenile may be handcuffed, fingerprinted and photographed as adults
can, teen offenders must be handled carefully ( Arresting Kids Lawyers.com, n.d.). In juvenile cases, a
status offense involves conduct that would not be a crime if it was committed by an adult in other
words, the actions are considered to be a violation of the law only because of the youth s status as a
minor (typically anyone under 18 years of age). Some examples of status offenses include underage
drinking, skipping school, and

Mr. Harvey Thought A Lot Essay
Mr. Harvey thought a lot. To say the least, time had been his only friend for years. Mr. Harvey was the
type of man to think all kinds of kooky and abstract things. He liked to think of how there had only
ever been one yellow paddle boat for hire amongst the numerous blue down at the rivers dock. He
thought of how on cheery spring days the children would beg their parents to leave a few minutes
earlier to snatch it up before the other kids did. He used to watch them for hours, the amusement on
their faces riding along the steady waters laughing at the other children because they got stuck in the
boring blue paddle boats. Time was funny like that he thought. Getting to the docks those couple
moments earlier than the other children, granted hours of joy because their yellow boat happened to
bet better than all the blues. He also thought them absurd, to Mr. Harvey colours were just colours, not
measures of happiness. But he knew the youths naivety was all that made them young.
He thought about Delilah s Deli which sat directly below his scungy old flat back in 1945. He used to
pick up one punnet of sun dried tomatoes, a 250g block of cheese and a small jar of pitted black olives
every Sunday morning at exactly 9:05, purely because that was when their stock was fresh and was
guaranteed to last the week. He remembered the betrayal he d felt when a little sign saying Closed For

Language in Indian Writing in English
Language in Indian Writing in English
I am here to present on the topic Language in Indian Writing in English . Basically I will be talking
about the usage of language, the writing style, of blending language and culture and my analysis of it
in the text The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy.
The story of the Indian English novel is really the story of a changing India. There was a time when
education was a rare opportunity and speaking English was unnecessary. The stories were already
there in the myths, in the folklore and the umpteen languages and cultures that gossiped, conversed,
laughed and cried all over the subcontinent. India has always been a land of stories, the demarcation
between ritual and reality being very narrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The God of Small Things is not written in a sequential narrative style in which events unfold
chronologically. Instead, the novel is a patchwork of flashbacks and lengthy sidetracks that weave
together to tell the story of the Kochamma family. The main events of the novel are traced back
through the complex history of their causes, and memories are revealed as they relate to each other
thematically and as they might appear in Rahel s mind, the main protagonist of the story. Although the
narrative voice is omniscient, or all knowing, it is loosely grounded in Rahel s perspective, and all of
the episodes of the novel progress towards the key moments in Rahel s life. This non sequential
narrative style, which determines the form of the novel, is an extremely useful authorial tool. It allows
Roy a great deal of flexibility as she chooses which themes and events are most important to pursue.
The author is able to structure her book so as to build up to the ideas and events at the root of the
Kochamma family s experience.
One of the first elements of Roy s writing that readers confront as they begin this novel is her creative
vocabulary creative in the sense that she makes up new words. In the first pages, for

method of treatment was first suggested in 1971, with the presumption that β blocker therapy can
decrease hemodynamic stressors, both negative inotropic and chronotropic, to the proximal aorta and
therefore slow the progression of aortic dilation (Judge Dietz, 2005). There was a randomized trial
published in the 1990s assessing the effect of β blockers in Marfan syndrome and the results showed
that the treatment group had a significantly lower rate of aortic growth than the control group (Keane
Pyeritz, 2008). Until more effective treatment directed at the fibrillin gene defect associated with
Marfan syndrome can be developed, β blocker therapy currently remains the standard of

Evaluating Educating Rita
Evaluating Educating Rita
Educating Rita tells a story of a 26 year old married hairdresser, Rita, who decided to get education by
taking a course in English literature from the Open University. Through the development of the
relationship between Rita and her alcoholic and cynical tutor, Frank, this story brings up many
concepts in adult development and education. After watching the movie, I have a further
understanding of the concepts of changes, motivation to learn, freedom, and stability.
Rita is a woman who is longing for change. Change is an inevitable concept during adult development
that is influenced by different factors, such as age, culture, and certain life events. Rita comes from a
working class society and has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stability describes the inner traits of people that are consistent through their lifetime, making the
individuals unique from others. It seems that change is the main theme of this movie, because it is the
motivation and result of Rita s education. While providing education to Rita and helping her transform
to a confident and independent person with knowledge, Frank always reminds Rita to be herself. The
purpose of her education is not to find a different song but a better song. Rita should become an
enriched person that still keeps her valuable characteristics, such as verve, curiousness, and
earnestness. Relating this concept to my life, keeping stability means being myself. Learning is not a
simple procedure of copy and paste. I need to discover myself first, and then find out my strengths and
weaknesses. Therefore, I will be able to enhance the strengths and improve the weaknesses while
keeping my own uniqueness.
Educating Rita is a relaxing and thought provoking comedy. It makes me laugh while giving me some
serious thoughts. I will apply the useful concepts I received from the movie to the journey of my
lifetime by developing strong motivations, making positive changes, remaining open minded and free,
and conserving my stability and

The Popular View Of World War II
The popular view of World War II is of the United States and Great Britain cooperating to defeat the
Axis powers. While it is known that there was a limit in cooperation between the Western powers and
the Soviet Union in terms of military strategy and political goals after the war, the limits to the
cooperation between Britain and the United States are less well known. There are several reasons why
the cooperation between the two countries was not as much as it could have been. Major differences of
opinion on which strategy would win the war with the lowest possible casualties and what the post
war world should look like caused tension and prevented full cooperation. In addition there were
political issues that had to be considered that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would continue until the passage of Lend Lease in March of 1941. Strangely enough, when the
Daily Mirror announced that Lend Lease would pass congress, the paper focused more on Churchill s
speech which was credited with the good news. The article stated that moved by Churchill s plea, give
us the tools and we will finish the job, administration leaders in Washington last night predicted that
the British Aid Bill will be made into law on March 1. However, the fact that Britain had to pay cash
for all war material for the first year and a half of the war reveals that they were receiving much less
help from America than popular history would have us believe.
The limits of cooperation are revealed in the difficulty of the ships for bases deal in 1940. When
Churchill first took office his first concern was for the naval aspect of the war. He was concerned that
if France surrendered and Italy then declared war that Britain would not have enough destroyers to
attend to their needs. This is shown by the fact that the first thing that he asked of Roosevelt after
becoming prime minister was the loan of forty or fifty of [Roosevelt s] older destroyers to bridge the
gap between what we have now and the large new construction we put in hand at the beginning of the
war. Unfortunately it was not that simple.

Persuasive Speech On Whaling
Known for being the main attraction at SeaWorld, whales are often admired by tourists and locals.
Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that they
breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and porpoises
and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial whaling because
it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the solution to this problem
may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different species, but the biggest of
them all is the Blue Whale weighing in at about 150 tons and growing up to 110 feet long. The earliest
record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 , these aquatic mammals have been
hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they often hunted whales for their blubber, oil
and wax, most of which were important ingredients for many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A
list of endangered species includes whales such as, Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales,
Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not
only has whaling, the act of killing whales for their resources, affected the list of endangered species,
but so has the loss of their territory. Certain species like the Beluga have become endangered due to
the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted their territory.
Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards the
whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and impale
the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away, dragging it back
and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today s society, the
weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically propelled
meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now subjects to kill.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling since it was created
in the 1940s. If commercial whaling were to go unchecked, unregulated hunting of whales would ve

George Berkeley Research Paper
George Berkeley (1685 1753) is a very famous 18th Century philosopher from Ireland. Berkeley is
most famous work was for coming up with the view point Esse Est Percipi , or to be is to be
perceived. Based on Berkeley s findings, an idea must be thought of or perceived in order to exist at
all. And if everything in the world (aside from minds) is made of ideas, then the existence of things,
depends on there being someone who perceives them. When you perceive a purple crayon, according
to many philosophers in the early modern period, you are in possession of a representational state
which in other words means that my mind is affected by a physical thing, the crayon, which as a result
causes my mind to create a mental representation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

able to recognize it, and when you see the ball you are simply perceiving a direct idea from your mind,

Now to get to the persistence and regularity. Berkeley explains this opinion of persistence and
regularity by using the infamous God. He says that all of our ideas are the product of the crazy ideas
of the infinite mind, which is from his view God s mind. To make it easier to understand Based on
George Berkeley, all ideas are transferred from God s mind to our minds, and directly upon seeing a

Newell Company was established in 1902 by Edgar A. Newell after he purchased a brass curtain rods
manufacturer. From brass curtain rods, Newell then became a manufacturer for both home and
hardware products (Montgomery, 2005). Over time, the organization developed a two pronged
approach to strategy. The two approaches included; following an established acquisition process
(Newellization) and progression over the company s multiple divisions. Newellization can be
described as the process the acquired company goes through in order to be faster and more efficient

Rubbermaid
By 1998, Newell was considering a merger with Rubbermaid Incorporated to form a new company,
Newell Rubbermaid Incorporated. The purchase was a tax free exchange of 0.7883 shares of Newell
stock for each share of Rubbermaid (Montgomery, 2005, p. 12). Prior to the acquisition of
Rubbermaid, Newell had three major product groupings: Hardware and Home Furnishings, Office
Products, and Housewares (Montgomery, 2005). Adding Rubbermaid to Newell s product line would
allow them the opportunity to sell a wide range of products which would now include plastic products,
ranging from housewares to toys. McDonough expected, Newell to be able to apply its established
process of acquiring, streamlining, and managing smaller companies to this large one (Montgomery,
2005, p. 12). However, an unexpected change in the market occurred on the day of the acquisition.
Newell s closing price on Tuesday before the deal was $49.063, valuing Rubbermaid s shares at 49%
over its closing price of $25.875 (Montgomery, 2005). Immediately after the deal, Newell s shares fell

3. What are the arguments for launching Precision as a) a niche product and b) a mainstream brand?
• Launching Precision as a niche product:
Niche positioning focuses on customers who care about the prevention of gum diseases. As such, it
could command a 15% price premium over Oral B and would be expected to capture 3% of the U.S.
toothbrush market by the end of the first year following its launch. Steinberg believed that with a
niche positioning, Precision retail sales would represent 3% volume share of the toothbrush market in
year 1 and 5% in year.
Under a niche positioning strategy, Steinberg decided that CP would establish a factory list price to the
trade of $2.13, a premium over Oral B regular and at parity with Oral B Indicator. If the company
decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product many positive benefits would appear:
1. Precision toothbrush is more advanced and is characterized for its technological superiority over its
competitors. Because of that, Colgate Palmolive can be able to differentiate and promote something
new to the market.
2. Colgate Palmolive would be able to charge premium prices if targeting to customers who are
worried about gum diseases.
3. If the company decided to position the Precision toothbrush as a niche product SKU s would not
decrease.
4. In case of failure of Precision, Colgate could reduce the losses if costs were to decrease.

Rational, Non-Emotional, Reasoning Process
The final doubt questions whether our sufferers can even partake in a rational, non emotional,
reasoning process. The question then is going to revolve around if our sufferers can actually do a
proper cost benefit analysis. Four aspects make up a cost benefit analysis. They are calculating
benefits, costs, the probability of success, and comparing analyses to one another. Our sufferers should
be able to compare, but the other three are in doubt. When attributing costs and benefit, there is both a
logical part, and emotional part. It seems like they can do the logical part, but as we just showed, our
sufferers don t have the capacity to reason emotionally. What this means is that they are not going to

Our sufferers may cause harm to others, but would be unable to understand that this causing of harm is
both a cost for themselves and the agent whom they harmed. They are really separate from the costs in
this way, and so again, the values our sufferers attribute to the costs will not be indicative of what they
should really be. Now, onto the probability of success, we see that our sufferers and their egoistic
personalities get in the way of truly understanding how they likely they will be able to achieve their
ends. Their egoistic nature causes our sufferers to believe that they can accomplish anything, as their
skills are just so great that nothing could stop them. But this false. Obviously, it s not the case that I
will necessarily achieve every ends that I pursue, but rather there is possibility of failure in regards to
most of these ends. It s not always a given that anyone will succeed all of the time, and so our
sufferers equations are off as our sufferers don t understand what the probabilities of success should
be. Then in regards to logical reasoning, it does not appear that our sufferers can properly do

  • 2. What Does A Patient Mean To You What does patients mean to you? The poem by Phillips Brooks is, Be patient and understanding Life is too short to be vengeful or malicious. To me that poem is what I live for. I have so many times where all i wanted to do was say something, but I couldn t because of my job. Being patient is the key to life. Never do anything you will regret in the long run. I have had jobs where I have had to wait on very rude customers. I worked at Cara, a salon. I remember this one time where i had wait on this one rude lady. I was polite, like I always am. I first asked her if she wanted any water, she responded with If you don t touch the glass, I would like some. I ve run into rude people about my race, but the fact that she told me only if I don t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, I had heard that Blairs was hiring, I jumped on the train to get an application. I never got called in for an interview and I had a feeling that my previous job had something to do with it. I went and got another job application, but this time I didn t put where I worked. They called me the next day, I was honestly so shocked when I got the phone call. I went in for the interview and I had started working the next day. Till this day I still have my job and I m very happy with what I do. You always run into very rude customers, but you always have to stay patient. I remember the day that I started, I was so nervous that I would mess up. A few months came along, and well, I ran into that difficult customer. This one man asked me if I could get something for him and of course I said yes. He was asking me to get, I think a candle from the top shelf of aisle number four. Well the front called me to go and bag, while I was heading up to the front, he yelled at me requesting that I stay and help. I didn t want to anger the man or one of the cashiers, so I called one of the managers to help the man. As I was finishing up, he came up to me and was yelling at me in front of all these customers, I was turning red. I was being as patient as I could and then a manager asked what was wrong. The man said that I just walked off and didn t help him. I helped the man and then I bagged his groceries, I carried out for him and I even apologized for my actions, that I didn t ... Purpose Statement For Diabetes STATEMENT OF PURPOSE According to International Diabetes Federation, approximately 592 million people worldwide would be suffering from diabetes by 2035 and this would be a major economic burden to the society globally. Insight of the structure and function of organelles, chemical composition of enzymes, hormones, their interaction and expression in structural and functional unit of life can significantly help in bringing down morbidity and mortality associated with metabolic disorders like diabetes and various other diseases. Grown up in a family of medical professionals, the curiosity to explore various life processes was not only acquired but also inherent. I want to take a leap forward of what my parents and grandparents practice and Cell and Molecular Physiology or Immunology as major will surely make me accomplish in achieving my aim of life. • 5. Hernan Cortes Essay Hernan Cortes Myths are hangups from way back :[1] false or highly inaccurate beliefs that are taken at face value. One collection of myths which has exercised a powerful grip on the minds of many, and contributed to feelings of inferiority on the part of large numbers of pure or mixed descendants of Native Americans in the region of northern Mesoamerica,2 has to do with the conquest of the Aztec Empire by HernanCortes and his followers in the early sixteenth century. This paper attempts to shatter one of these myths; namely, that Cortes was an extraordinarily brave and intelligent individual who accomplished an almost miraculous feat. It will do so by making use of the twin concepts of virtu and fortuna. These two terms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both decisions were based on his ignorance of the actual power of the Triple Alliance and the confederation of Tlaxcallan.[7] Cortes underestimated these two because of his early experiences in Mesoamerica. Although they initially tried to avoid confrontations with the native communities, the Spaniards had to engage in several battles against a coalition of Maya armies near Potonchan (located in the present day state of Tabasco). However, they were able to win these battles thanks to the superiority of their weapons and military tactics. The outcome of these skirmishes was quickly known! by the Triple Alliance. As a result, when Cortes arrived in the region of Totonacapan, this alliance opted in favor of a strategy of deterrence rather than war. Envoys sent by Tenochtitlan established contact with Cortes and presented him with a series of lavish gifts that were meant to indicate the might of the Triple Alliance.[8] However, the strategy backfired because Cortes was unable to grasp the symbolism of the gifts and interpreted them as a sign of weakness. Moreover, the great quantity of gold given to the Spaniards made them all the more determined to reach Tenochtitlan. Unable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Peta Animal Rights Although we have, in theory, abolished human slavery, recognized women s rights, and stopped child labor, we continue to enslave other species who, if we simply pay attention, show quite clearly that they experience parental love, pain, and the desire for freedom, just as we do once said Ingrid Newkirk, beloved animal rights activist and cofounder of the largest animal rights organizations, PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. There is a much bigger picture than which lies centered on the human species. Earth is inhabited with a rich variety of about eight million species, most of which have been thought to exist for millions of years before humans evolved. The array of diversity of life on our planet is mind blowing, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The admired biologist and conservationist E.O. Wilson once said, we should preserve every scrap of biodiversity as priceless while we learn to use it and come to understand what it means to humanity. This quote seems to encompass the overall main goal of zoologists: to preserve biodiversity, and while we have it, study and examine it, and make discoveries that could help save all those on this planet. Dr. Tim Cockerel, in a published interview with BBC, defined his job as a zoologist as someone who studies species from anything to the diversity of animals, to how animals interact with other living things, to how animals and humans interact with each other, and how we can make plans to save threatened or endangered species for the future years to come (Cockerill). The typical zoologist observes animals in a variety of settings, while studying behavioral tendencies, their natural habitat, and how their acquired traits are passed down from generation to generation. Some daily activities of a zoologist include dissection of animal specimens, preparation of slides of disease tissue under microscopes, studying aggression or mating behaviors, testing the effects of drugs on animals, and directing biological technicians who work alongside them. They may write scientific reports, inventory or estimate wildlife populations, consult with management systems, must articulate well and understand others. Many people who are involved in this field publish articles about their recent research. The typical employers of zoologists include government departments, universities, private research firms, biotechnology companies, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, pharmaceutical agriculture, or food research companies, environmental consulting firms, and possibly other private organizations. • 7. Greek Influence On Roman Society Thanks to our course, it teaches me something I didn t know before. This week, what I learnt was ancient Greek actually forged Roman society and its past glories. Apart from their historical connections, it turned out Greek was an inspiration for Roman s outstanding achievements, to an extent, if the proverb all roads lead to Rome presents this city state s central position in Antiquity, I will think Roman s success owed its origin to Greek, to say the least. In my opinion, Greece was the true begetter of Roman empire s economic and political miracles. Although the two are both Mediterranean countries, but Greece had a major influence on the development of Roman arts, governmental system, literature, and many more. In a way, Romans internalized a set of Greek values which they ingeniously conflated Greek traditional charm with Roman local idioms, then continuously built on that solid foundation and made some exciting breakthroughs thereafter. In addition, as Noreen Gunnell (2012) indicated, ancient Romans loved all things Greek. In the highest form of flattery, the Romans copied Greek architecture, sculpture, and mythology...the Roman god and myths are the Greek gods and myths...the Romans were enamored by all things Greek... Thus, the forces of supply and demand, generally unaffected by government intervention, are perceived as determining the quantities, qualities and prices of goods and services produced in the domestic economy. The origins of this belief probably relapse into two distinctive features of the US economy, the development of private ownership of capital, combined with a relatively small business, public sector and the absence of a strong centralized economic planning. However, this common belief is a myth long. Through the civil law and regulation, state and local governments and the federal government substantially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, every economic sector that was subject to economic regulation before 1975, has undergone significant changes in the nature and extent of regulation. These changes had profound effects on the structure of industries, price levels, costs and productivity. The industries in which changes occurred in economic regulations are the carriers, heavy transport, public transport, railways, telecommunications, production and transportation of natural gas, cable television, banking and financial services , electricity and property insurance and liability. These industries vary in structure, behavior, nature of regulation, and distribution of responsibilities between federal and state regulatory authorities. There are also wide variations in the major reasons, causes, and consequences of regulatory changes in these industries. The airlines and trucking industry were the clearest almost total price and entry regulation cases. Until 1977 the air fares and route structures were severely regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) and similarly heavy transport was regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC). And the most important thing is, I will never try to do harms to people because I can simultaneously be more sensitive to know whether if there is any harm to others by the measurements I am about to take. Defining the Moment Talking about the defining moment of personal moral challenge, I had one experience facing challenge related to my moral code before. While I was at my elementary school, I was kind of person that trusted everyone without any other thoughts. I just simply believed what other said to me, and was not dare or dislike to reject other s request. Once there was a classmate and also friend of mine tried to borrow some money from me. • 11. Saul Bellow Seize the Day the Water Imagery Water Imagery in Seize the Day Saul Bellow s Seize the Day is one of the most profoundly sad novels to be written since Tender is the Night. On this day of reckoning, during the seven hours or so that comprise the action of the novel, all the troubles that constitute the present condition of Wilhelm Adler descend upon him and crush him, leaving him penniless, alone, and in such profound misery that one can hardly imagine his going on. He is, as he says, at the end of his rope. This has been one of those days, he says to his wife, May I never live to go through another like it. We feel that he may not live at all, so great is his misery, so completely has he been destroyed. Yet if we look more deeply, more accurately, we see that the ... He was imperfect and disfigured himself, but what difference did that make if he was united with them by this blaze of love? And as he walked he began to say, Oh my brothers my brothers and my sisters, blessing them all as well as himself. Although such feelings never last long and are usually fled from rather than welcomed, on this day of reckoning he remembers this experience and thinks, I must go back to that. That s the right clue and may do me the most good. Something very big. Truth, like. This affirmation, feeble as it is, constitutes his own dim recognition of the saving end of what more often appears to him as a destructive element his own intensely emotional nature. He continually blames his failures on his strong and often uncontrollable emotions; yet we are finally made aware that it is just this capacity to feel, more specifically this need to love and be loved, that makes possible the birth of Wilhelm s soul at the end of the novel. Ultimately, the clearest indication that the action of Seize the Day is ironic is found in Bellow s attitude toward man s emotional nature, not just as revealed in this novel but throughout his writing. That Bellow is in the tradition of the great English Romantic poets Wordsworth in particular in this respect has been brilliantly argued by Irvin Stock in [The Southern Review, Winter 1967]. Understanding the structure of Bellow s novel to be ironic, we are now able to state its major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Lgbtc Reflection Paper LGBTQ I would say that my views on the LGBTQ community haven t really changed, but rather, I ve gotten a better picture of what LGBTQ experiences are outside of my own cluster of friends who identify within the LGBTQ community. As a high school student, my LGBTQ wasn t a big deal. I wanted to confirm this fact and asked the few friends I knew from my hometown that had been out in in high school what their experiences were like. They had been afraid to come out because they knew other students that had run into issues in rural districts, but like the You ve Got to Talk Him Out of It article by Nicholas Pace said, we should remember that our school might surprise us (Pace 39). Gender Gender has always been a hot button topic for me. I ve experienced, first hand, discrimination that occurs based on gender, but this semester has taught me a lot more about gender than I expected. Thanks to the discussions on LGBTQ and gender, I understand that while the topics overlap, the idea of sexual orientation, sex, and gender are very different things. In the Who Said It? article, written by Jessica Press, it is stated that, even before you re born, doctors can tell if you re a boy or a girl based on your body that s your sex. But your gender falls along a spectrum. We hold onto these categories of being masculine or feminine, but there are degrees inbetween (Press 16). Gender has too many stereotypes associated with it and I think it s vitally important to help our future students deconstruct those stereotypes. Race I would say that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to racial bias and racial issues. This semester taught me how to understand and work through implicit bias. Before this semester, I didn t know what implicit bias was, but I understood the concept because I was able to recognize my thoughts when situations occurred. I ve spent a long time worrying that I was racist and that I wouldn t be able to overcome that part of me that I ve never meant to have. Although a type of criminal law, juvenile crime law only deals with under age individuals, who are treated very differently than adults in criminal law, and usually have their own courts of law (Juvenile Criminal Law, n.d.). When it comes to crime, kids usually go through a different process than adults. But they still have to face consequences ( Juvenile Crimes Juvenile Justice Nolo.com, n.d.). Juvenile Criminal Law is a relevant issue in today s juvenile criminal Justice system. A growing number of states are re examining and amending juvenile laws to reduce unnecessary reliance on secure confinement. Minors under the age of 18 years, who commit a crime, or otherwise violate established rules and statutes, are identified as juvenile delinquents, juvenile offenders, youthful offenders, or delinquent minors. When the police arrest a minor, or juvenile, there are differences from arresting an adult. While the juvenile may be handcuffed, fingerprinted and photographed as adults can, teen offenders must be handled carefully ( Arresting Kids Lawyers.com, n.d.). In juvenile cases, a status offense involves conduct that would not be a crime if it was committed by an adult in other words, the actions are considered to be a violation of the law only because of the youth s status as a minor (typically anyone under 18 years of age). • 16. Mr. Harvey Thought A Lot Essay Mr. Harvey thought a lot. To say the least, time had been his only friend for years. Mr. Harvey was the type of man to think all kinds of kooky and abstract things. He liked to think of how there had only ever been one yellow paddle boat for hire amongst the numerous blue down at the rivers dock. He thought of how on cheery spring days the children would beg their parents to leave a few minutes earlier to snatch it up before the other kids did. He used to watch them for hours, the amusement on their faces riding along the steady waters laughing at the other children because they got stuck in the boring blue paddle boats. Time was funny like that he thought. Getting to the docks those couple moments earlier than the other children, granted hours of joy because their yellow boat happened to bet better than all the blues. He also thought them absurd, to Mr. Harvey colours were just colours, not measures of happiness. But he knew the youths naivety was all that made them young. He thought about Delilah s Deli which sat directly below his scungy old flat back in 1945. He used to pick up one punnet of sun dried tomatoes, a 250g block of cheese and a small jar of pitted black olives every Sunday morning at exactly 9:05, purely because that was when their stock was fresh and was guaranteed to last the week. Basically I will be talking about the usage of language, the writing style, of blending language and culture and my analysis of it in the text The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. The story of the Indian English novel is really the story of a changing India. There was a time when education was a rare opportunity and speaking English was unnecessary. The stories were already there in the myths, in the folklore and the umpteen languages and cultures that gossiped, conversed, laughed and cried all over the subcontinent. India has always been a land of stories, the demarcation between ritual and reality being very narrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The God of Small Things is not written in a sequential narrative style in which events unfold chronologically. Instead, the novel is a patchwork of flashbacks and lengthy sidetracks that weave together to tell the story of the Kochamma family. The main events of the novel are traced back through the complex history of their causes, and memories are revealed as they relate to each other thematically and as they might appear in Rahel s mind, the main protagonist of the story. Although the narrative voice is omniscient, or all knowing, it is loosely grounded in Rahel s perspective, and all of the episodes of the novel progress towards the key moments in Rahel s life. This non sequential narrative style, which determines the form of the novel, is an extremely useful authorial tool. It allows Roy a great deal of flexibility as she chooses which themes and events are most important to pursue. The author is able to structure her book so as to build up to the ideas and events at the root of the Kochamma family s experience. One of the first elements of Roy s writing that readers confront as they begin this novel is her creative vocabulary creative in the sense that she makes up new words. In the first pages, for ... This method of treatment was first suggested in 1971, with the presumption that β blocker therapy can decrease hemodynamic stressors, both negative inotropic and chronotropic, to the proximal aorta and therefore slow the progression of aortic dilation (Judge Dietz, 2005). There was a randomized trial published in the 1990s assessing the effect of β blockers in Marfan syndrome and the results showed that the treatment group had a significantly lower rate of aortic growth than the control group (Keane Pyeritz, 2008). • 25. Persuasive Speech On Whaling Known for being the main attraction at SeaWorld, whales are often admired by tourists and locals. Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that they breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and porpoises and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial whaling because it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the solution to this problem may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different species, but the biggest of them all is the Blue Whale weighing in at about 150 tons and growing up to 110 feet long. The earliest record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 , these aquatic mammals have been hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they often hunted whales for their blubber, oil and wax, most of which were important ingredients for many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A list of endangered species includes whales such as, Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales, Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not only has whaling, the act of killing whales for their resources, affected the list of endangered species, but so has the loss of their territory. Certain species like the Beluga have become endangered due to the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted their territory. Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards the whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and impale the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away, dragging it back and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today s society, the weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically propelled meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now subjects to kill. The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling since it was created in the 1940s.
