Essay on Foreclosure Crisis In America
It is evident that the housing deficit is just a layer of the many problems we are
suffering from during the hard times in our economy. Foreclosure is indeed a horrific
word that is haunting homeowners across the US. Because of the situation in the
current economy, millions of Americans have been plagued by foreclosing on their
homes and are left to find new location for themselves and their families to live.
Recently in Detroit, with the efforts to negate the current standings, they provided
housing aid. According to the housing statistic, the housing aid drew crowds in
Detroit. One in four working age adults in Detroit are without a job and the city s
home foreclosure rate continues to be among the nation s highest. ... Show more

The problem is there is inevitably a lack of housing, due to homelessness and influx
of people. Without enough housing, the prices of the homes will be very expensive;
however, if there is not a balanced mix of luxury and affordable housing, those
already living there will be forced to leave because they will not be able to
maintain taxes and other increases that will be tacked on to housing expenses. In
order to make this process a bit more feasible, New York created the Inclusionary
Zoning program. This program required that developers set aside a certain
percentage of units in a new development as affordable units. The issue with this
zoning ordinance is that although it was stated as a requirement the city kept it as a
voluntary process. With the ordinance being voluntary and developers with a
capitalist mentality, many developers opted out of adhering to the ordinance.
Although the residents of New York may not be in the power broker or decision
making classification, many of its inhabitants have been there for many years. Unless
there are efforts to make this ordinance mandatory, there will be much opposition to
keep new development out.
There is by no means a simple solution to solving the home foreclosure epidemic but
there are many changes that can be made to help Americans across the globe. The

Human Blood Type Inheritance
Human Blood Type Inheritance
Introduction
The blood grouping systems commonly used include the ABO system that was first
described by Karl Landsteiner. The discovery of blood grouping systems helped to
avoid unnecessary death emanating from blood transfusion. The basics of blood
grouping systems lie behind the inheritance of genes. The possession and inheritance
of blood groups attribute to the parents who combine alleles responsible for the
blood groups. The parents thus play a pivotal role in determining the blood groups of
the offspring. This paper will work towards the discussion of inheritance of human
blood groups.
An Overview of Blood Groups Blood grouping involves the use of ABO system as
described by Karl Landsteiner. The grouping came into existence in the year 1900
after discovery by Nobel Prize winner Karl Landsteiner. He first discovered three
blood types A, B, and O, but after two years he discovered the fourth blood group
AB. This discovery led to four major types of blood that includes A, AB, B and O.
The grouping depends on the presence of two chief antigens and antibodies. The two
antigens responsible for blood grouping include A and B while the antibodies include
anti A and anti B. The combination of the two antigens and antibodies thus
determines the blood types. The blood type A has antigen A and antibody anti B. The
blood group B express Antigen B and antibody anti A (Reid and Lomas, 2004).
Blood group O express no antigen but possess antibodies
Mercedes Benz Aav Essay
Mercedes Benz AAV 1. What is the competitive environment faced by MB? The
competitive environment faced by Mercedes Benz is one filled with many different
car manufactures and car models. Mercedes has several competitors in terms of price
and quality on all of their product platforms. Historically, Mercedes biggest
competitors have been Lexus, BMW, Audi, and Cadillac. The economic downturn
coupled with the restructuring of domestic auto manufactures has shifted Mercedes
competition. In recent years there is gaining popularity in domestic vehicles. Rather

In 2007, Mercedes showed dramatic improvement in quality surpassing the quality
leader Toyota. In 2011, J.D. Powers ranked Mercedes Benz above average in
quality (ahead of BMW and Audi) but behind Lexus. Price Mid Upper Range
Mercedes offers most of its products at a price similar to other luxury car models,
with the exception of a few specialty high priced products within each of their
platforms. The Mercedes SUV platform is an example of this. Mercedes currently
offers two SUVs, the G class and the GL class. The GL class is priced
competitively with Lexus, BMW, and Cadillac at $85k. In contrast, the Mercedes
G class is currently the most expensive SUV on the market priced at $107k, which
competes with upper range priced SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne and Land
Rover Range Rover. Mercedes follows the same pricing strategy for the sedan
platform as they do in the SUV platform offer most of their vehicles priced similarly
to other large luxury auto manufactures such as Lexus and Audi, but also offer a
product that exceeds the competitor s normal pricing within that platform. Mercedes
offers several sedans that are priced similarly to Lexus, Cadillac, and Audi, which
includes the E class and S Class lines, but they also offer something else. With the
introduction of the Maybach in 2002, Mercedes Benz became the manufacturer of the
highest priced luxury sedan vehicle in the world. The Maybach is currently the most
expensive luxury sedan

Have you ever wondered about the actual significance of cave paintings? Henri
Breuil and Hans Georg Bandi do an excellent job of explaining and documenting
early cave paintings in their book Art of the Stone Age: Forty Thousand Years of
Rock Art. This book provides a richly informative look into the earliest known cave
paintings. The book mentions different places in which cave art was found, how it
was probably created, and the controversies amongst the archaeological community as
to the authenticity of the cave paintings. The book can be difficult to read, as it is
very thorough. However, it provides interesting insight into the art of the Stone Age.

and in depth viewpoint. While The Earth and Its Peoples simply narrates the linear
history of early civilizations, Art of the Stone Age gives more specific details about
its topic. For example, as mentioned earlier, it discusses the historical significance of
the art of the Stone Age and takes an in depth look into the perspectives of the
peoples of the time. It mentions controversies regarding authenticity, how stone
paintings were created, and, most significantly, the different styles, themes, and
nuances of cave art. While The Earth and Its Peoples gives a great overview of the
early civilizations, while Art of the Stone Age gives a more specific and in depth
look into a very important part of the earliest civilizations: the
Cleft Lip
Introduction
Cleft lip is formed when a baby s nose and mouth do not form properly in the
womb. These children are born with deformations to the mouth and nose. There are
four main types of cleft lip that involve incomplete single and double clefts and also
complete single and double clefts that cause deformations completely into the child s
nose. This can cause complications for the child to eat and breathe properly, but a
series of surgeries can fix this complication. The cleft lip is basically a split in the lip
of a baby that occurs on one side or both sides of the nostrils and if completely
formed as a cleft the splits will go all the way into a child s nose or nasal passage and
cause damages to the roof of the mouth (cleft palate). ... Show more content on

In any case the molding does not work as properly as it should the cleft lip or
palate may require surgery, but will require drastically less surgeries that a baby
that did not use the brace to help mold the lips. For a child who has a cleft lip they
prefer that the surgery is done between the age of 6 weeks and 1 year. For children
who are born with a cleft palate they prefer that the surgery take place between the
ages of 6 months and 18 months. Due to children being very resilient and able to
heal quickly it is better that the surgeries get done before they are a lot older and
have a lot more

Tragedy and the Common Man Questions
1. Why is the common man as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings
were ?
Tragedy once belonged to the kings and the high bred class, because tragedy centers
on the awareness of disparity between self image and the perception the world has of
you. In archaic times, only kings could retain this sense of nobility. But now nobility
belongs to every man. Revolutions provide proof enough, that the common man
maintains a sense of indignation in the face of having their dignity stolen, and so the
common man can experience tragedy as much as the kings can.

5. What shakes us, the viewers as we watch or read a tragedy?
Tragedy shakes the audience by tapping into their own private fears. An undeniable
connection drawn by empathy links every audience member to the plight of the
character, because the itch of indignation is universal among all humanity. As long
as someone has a sense of self, they have a sense of dignity. The character in a
tragedy has been wronged by some flaw , and there is a fear of never correcting that
wrong. Every audience member experiences that fear, and so is shaken by the tragedy.
Tragedy shakes the audience
6. Given Miller s earlier definition of tragedy, what is illuminated by the tragic figure
s destruction? What comments does Miller make about the condition of life and the
wrong ? How does he mean each of these terms?
The tragic figure is destroyed by the suppression of his own creative instinct. The
wrong is lack of freedom inflicted on a character, and there can be no dignity
without freedom to express your own individual self. Destruction enlightens the
reader to what the suppression is, what robs the character of their freedom. In a
certain sense, tragedy is heroism for the sacrifice it makes for personal knowledge.
7. How does the tragic figure, especially if he is a common man, gain size ?

Theodore Roosevelt And His Influence On Our Lives
He scaled the mighty Matterhorn, lost his vision in one eye from a boxing match,
and skinny dipped in the Potomac. Who was this grad school dropout who would
preside as president of the United States and win a nobel peace prize? Theodore
Roosevelt was an accomplished man that had tremendous influence on our lives
today through his presidency as well as his political contributions. Over the next
few pages we will take a closer look at the Theodore or Teddy Roosevelt s
accomplishments in life, his presidency and delve into his political policies.
Theodore Roosevelts childhood was adventurous despite him suffering from asthma.
His father took him on hunting trips in exotic locations around the world. At 18
years of age, Theodore Roosevelt attended Harvard before attending Columbia
Law and after passing the bar examination he dropped out of Columbia Law in
1881, prior to his graduation, to further his political career. In 1881 Theodore
Roosevelt was elected to the position of New York assemblyman. During his time
as assemblyman Roosevelt introduced four bills within the first 48 hours of the
legislative session: water purification, aldermanic election reform, finance reform
for New York City, and judicial reform (Kennedy.) Although only one was passed
and that version was highly modified from the original. A prolific writer throughout
his adult life, Theodore Roosevelt published his first book in 1881, The Naval War

Magazines Are Becoming More Neglected Essay
One of the main abilities to satisfy people with products or services is through
advertising. Believe it or not, you probably won t find many advertising as much as
you would find in a magazine. Unfortunately, magazines are becoming more
neglected. You don t see many people reading magazines because of the high
technology access we have today. Though magazines could still be mailed to you
through subscription with the company, advertisingcould be found online.
Advertising could either be found through social media, subscriptions from the
company (if you have any) on your email, maybe even from a text message from
families or friends, and such. Well, Men s Health magazine is one of them. Not
only this magazine advertises, but also it s almost like a support system for men
as well. Perhaps an outlet to get away from the daily life. Men s Health magazine is a
lifestyle magazine for men, specifically for men who are the ages 18 and up (adults).
Being the world s largest men s magazine brandwith 40 editions in 47 countries, Men
s Health magazine helps its audience with advice on good health and/or hygiene,
being distracted from their daily lives, and being entertained all at once. While
reading Men s Health, you re going to notice that half of the magazine is filled with
advertisements. When there s an article on one side, there s an ad on the other, and
vice versa. Men s Health magazine target audience is not only adult men, but men
who want to achieve a good body and who
Genetically Modified Salmon Essay
What if the food you were eating right now was not what you thought it was?
Instead of being grown like that rest of your food, taking a certain length of time or
only growing during certain seasons, it was genetically modified to grow faster and
with no consideration to season at all. This concept as farfetched as it may sound is
not so farfetched after all with the production of genetically modified GM salmon
trying to make its way into our fishers markets and grocery stores today. This process
has been going on for almost 20 years, being done to crops and animals alike,
however, GM salmon will be the first commercial GM foodanimal to hit the
American market. However, with first come questions such as what is the difference

Some of the benefits or rewards for being able to use this technology are that as the
world s population continues to surge, so does the consumption of foods like
seafood. GM foods, such as the salmon, provide a partial solution to not only
support more people, but will also help preserve the remaining animals that have
been overexploited and farmed (Zohar, 2010). Another benefit of GM salmon
would be that it could save the industry millions of dollars in fish feed, while
preventing loss in revenue do to diseased fish (Zohar, 2010). However with benefits
follow the risks, which are what some consumer groups are focused on. Consumer
groups such as Consumers Union, Food and Water Watch, and Center for Food
Safety have created a petition in which they are claiming that genetically modifying
the salmon changes the nutritional value and alters the composition of the fish,
therefore making the fish a food additive (Barret, 2012). If GM salmon are
considered to be a food addictive, then the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will
have to place the GM salmon under extensive testing to make sure that it is safe for
consumption (Barret, 2012). Other concerns are based on the consequences of these
GM fish escaping into the wild and reproducing with other non GM fish (Barret,
2010). Another concern that many consumers and consumer groups have is whether
or not these GM salmon should be labeled

Cabeza De Vaca Research Paper
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca was born in 1490 at Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia.
His parents went by the name Francisco de Vera and Teresa Cabeza de Vaca.
Cabeza de Vaca means head of cow and was derived from a peasant ancestor.
(elizabethan era.org) By 1528, he was appointed treasurer underneath the explorer
Panfilo de Narvaez which reached what is now Tampa Bay, Floridalater in the same
year. By September of that year, all of the members of the expedition except for 60 of
de Vaca s men had died near the shore of present day Galveston, Texas
.

was the first historian of Texas, and one of the four survivors of the Narvaez
expedition.

Since the survivors were held by different tribes or groups they were often
separated. The next year at the time of the gathering of the tribes to eat prickly
pears the four (Castillo, Dorantes, Estebanico, and Cabeza de Vaca) made their
escape. (sjsu.edu). During their escape, other tribes that they met along the way
aided them and helped them. They escaped at the time when the tribes were going
to pick pears, so food was not a problem at this time. (sjsu.edu). The Spaniards
decided to build rafts and leave Florida by the sea. (tshaonline.org). Each raft was
loaded with fewer than fifty men, and rose only six inches above the water. They
had to sail their rafts as closely to the shore as possible in case something were to
happen. They left on September 22, 1528, and all was going well until they
crossed what is now the Mississippi River. Thrown off course by the strong winds,
the five rafts eventually landed off the coast of Texas. (tshaonline.org). By the
spring of 1529, only thirteen Spaniards and an African slave were still alive, along
with Cabeza de Vaca. Some of the men thought that he was dead because he had
been gone for so long. Twelve of the fourteen men had headed towards the coast of
Mexico. (tshaonline.org). They finally landed at a place that they named the Island
of Misfortune, somewhere around what is now Galveston, Texas. Cabeza de Vaca
and his men lived out on the island with the Karankawa Indians from 1529 to 1534,
and were eventually separated due to a state of semi slavery.
(americanjourneys.org). After Cabeza de Vaca and his men were separated from
the Indians, he used his self teaching skills and taught himself how to become a
healer, or a doctor. He explored all along the coast of East Texas, hoping to find a
way into Mexico and explore some Spanish colonies. In 1534, the other survivors,

The genesis of Edward Scissorhands came from a drawing by then teenaged director
Tim Burton, which reflected his feelings of isolation and being unable to
communicate to people around him in suburban Santa Clarita Valley, California.
Burton stated that he was often alone and had trouble retaining friendships. I get the
feeling people just got this urge to want to leave me alone for some reason, I don t
know exactly why . During pre production of Beetlejuice, Burton hired Caroline
Thompson, then a young novelist, to write the Edward Scissorhands screenplay as a
spec script. Burton was impressed with her short novel, First Born, which was about
an abortion that came back to life . Burton felt First Born had the same psychological
elements he wanted to showcase in Edward Scissorhands.

Overview of overall level of engagement
The degree of engagement among staff of UK Home Office is close to 50%. It

For instant, the team and fair treatment have approximately no influence on the
overall engagement level. Although, even work and line management has performed
higher than 60% that is a point of congratulation in comparison with other drivers,
the strongest one, leadership and managing change, is remaining in the same
position. In order to compare the strength of different drivers, there is 73% of the
staff that satisfied with their team and only 30% positive answer with leadership
style in the organization. By the fact, that leadership has the strongest impact of the
engagement level, the changes in it would be crucial for it, unlike the job
satisfaction with the team. For the all three key drivers of engagement, leadership,
work and line management, Home Office still stay below the benchmark that
estimated by CS2012 by 11%, 9% and 5% respectively.
Leadership and managing change
There are 18% of respondents considers that all of the changes in the organization
are making their work better. It is disappointing, but the score is lower from
previous year for 1% and for 7% lower than average level among other civil
departments. From the point of view of 31% of staff, Home Office has clear
understanding of future goal. It is good to know that this number increased form
previous year for 2%, however it is still under the benchmark by 9%. The feeling,
that organization as a whole is managed well, is inherent only for 28% of employees.

Single Gender Schools
Many people believe that single gender schools have no positive effect on students,
research shows otherwise. In single gender schools there is less drama, it helps
preserve culture, there are less stereotypes, and test scores and confidence levels rise.
Single gender schools have many positive impacts, and they help students prepare for
the future.
For starters there is less drama at an all girls school. Since there aren t any guys on
campus, you aren t gonna be jealous of a couple at school. Another reason there is
less drama is that you aren t vying for the guys attention. This also leads to more
modesty. Loran Wilbur , who went to an all girls school said, There was a lot less
pressure for appearance at Wellesley. Girls usually just wore sweat pants and a t
shirt. Lastly you don t have to worry about how a guys gonna treat you because of
how you look. A lot of drama is based on relationships and attractions. Remove the
opposite gender from the equation and you have lessened the problem drastically.
Next off single gender schools help preserve many different cultures. In the Islamic or
Muslim culture the co ed schools are promoting illicit relationships, teenage
pregnancies, dating, girlfriend boyfriend culture, extravagance where both sexes
throw their parents hard earned money on materialism and luxurious items to attract
the opposite sex (http://defence.pk/threads/co education spreading immorality among

Law Enforcement Agency Analysis
Unfortunately, no policy or enforcement mechanism exists to segregate data housed
on the same physical server in the event of governmental interception of data
(Subashini and Kavitha 2011). The result is that Law Enforcement Agency (LEA)
investigations often include innocent, co located data. In most cases, the owner of the
data does not know their data is co located with suspected criminal data, or that the
data is part of an investigation.
The segregation of data is also critical to access controls applied to the data. To
insure successful access controls in a cloud environment, with co located data, the
ability to determine who can access the data must reside with the client, in both
enterprise and private user applications (Subashini and Kavitha 2011). Security and
privacy of cloud based data is only effective through agreed upon application of policy
and governance against the underlying technology architecture.
The compulsion of third party vendors to turn over data to law enforcement, or
otherwise be complicit in interception or storage of data is a direct threat to the
integrity, security, and privacy of data stored by service providers (Subashini and
Kavitha 2011). Understanding the technical component of data security and privacy

Our Iceberg Is Melting, By John Kotter
Once upon a time a colony of penguins was living in the frozen Antarctic on an
iceberg near what we call today Cape Washington. From the first sentence of John
Kotter s bestselling book, Our Iceberg Is Melting, it is difficult to tell that one is
about to read a great fable about how to manage change in business as well as
everyday life. ! The following summary will explain the key moments of the fable
and how they relate to our lives. First, let s introduce some of the more important
penguins the Leadership Council members. Louis, the head of the Leadership
Council, could perhaps be considered the CEO of the penguincolony. Alice is a smart,
aggressive member of the council, and is Fred s loyal confidant. Buddy is a young
penguin council member who may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but brings an

Investigating The Energy Content Of Paraffin Essay
Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to determine the energy content of paraffin.
This is done by measuring heat combustion in kJ/g of fuel. It was also to compare
experimental and theoretical energy values as well as determine the specific heat of
an unknown metal to identify it.
Results: When conducting part one of the experiment, Paraffin combustion, the
candle melted quickly and the flame atop the candle was very small. The wax pooled
on top of the paraffin rather than following the canal dug into the side. For the second
part of the experiment, the specific heat of an unknown metal, the thermometer
spiked quickly and then slowly rose until it reached the peak temperature of 24.6
degrees.

This passage is very important to comprehending this novel because Marcus is in a
consistent fight with the DHS and when he states freedom is something you have
to take for yourself. this shows the fight in Marcus to get what is his because the
DHS is trying to take his freedom away from him and make him say and do what
they want him too. Another theme is standing up for your rights and not allowing
what should be handed to you be taken away from you. For example, the passage
states, I can t...waiting for freedom to be handed. at this point of the novel the
DHS was not giving Marcus the rights that he is deserving of and what Marcus
does is he argues to gain the rights he deserves and takes them back. The DHS is a
government based job showing how hard and committed to taking your freedom back
one must be, because they are arguably the most powerful organizations. Finally,
Marcus uses his strong mind and willingness to be free and gains all his human rights

When people hear the word Zoo many different thoughts and opinions come to mind,
but the levels of positivity and negativity vary from person to person. A common
grievance is that zoos are jails to animals and their conditions are similar to circuses.
Due to traveling and poor living conditions. Animals of the entertainment business are
treated with much less respect than in a zoo. Others tend to think of the cute, fuzzy,
and even funny animals living in well designed habitats. No matter the opinion one
approaches this article with, the knowledge of how a zoo actually works is often
lacking. Few actually know that these animals are in the best place for them, and
often feel just as at home. A great example is The Denver Zoo s own Red Panda

Overcoming Odds the Singaporean Way: Lee Kuan Yew Once a small fishing
village with almost no natural resources, Singapore has flourished into a point of
pride for the world. As Nicolas Berggruen, a famous French investor and
philanthropist said, Singapore was created out of the swamp, with a strong
emotional idea: a safe place mostly for Chinese, but accepting other cultures and
other races. Singapore had been at a disadvantage for most of its early age, until the
achievement of its first world status towards the end of the 20th century. Much of
this success can be attributed to the first prime minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan

Mr. Lee had a vision for Singapore and no one was going to change that. As Kenny
Roy s article, Lee Kuan Yew: The Real Tiger mentions, Mr. Lee s first order of
business after establishing his position in office was to introduce a five year plan
that concentrated on urban renewal and construction of new public housing.
Education reforms and industrialization were also key areas in which he placed his
importance and eventually contributed to the success of Singapore and him being
a forward thinking leader. Moving on from the strong legislation Mr. Lee put into
place to allow Singapore to get independence, stringent laws were also part of how
Mr. Lee helped Singapore overcome some of its disadvantages. Every westerner in
current times has heard of the absurd laws aimed at making Singapore being overly
clean. Chewing gum was banned in 1992 because vandals disrupted public
transport systems by sticking their gum on the doors of trains. This became more of
a disadvantage as citizens could no longer chew gum nor bring food and drinks
onboard any public transport network that was and till today is still commonly used
by 70% of Singapore s population. Adding to the chewing gum ban, Singapore
imposed heavy fines on people who littered and contributed to pollution. Yet this law,

The First Stage Of The Consumer Decision Process
The first stage of the consumer decision process is need/problem recognition. Most
people who are looking for a diet see a need to please themselves and need change
physically. When looking at a diet consumers are looking for something that is
functional and can change them. The marketers can influence my decision by
initially being perceived as something that I need. Information is the next step in
deciding what to get based on the consumer s needs. Internal and external
information will be put in to play when deciding where to head next. Internal
information is present information and comes from previous experiences.
External information is what someone finds when looking for a solution for their
needs. Both types of information can be used to market positively and negatively.
Marketers can do everything they can to have their product be put in a good light.
When consumers look externally markets can give reasons why it s worth a
consumer s time to use their product with little to no risk. With all information
available it s time to make a decision. Decision can be hard to make depending on
the needs of a consumer. There are criteria involved in making a decision and
depending on if the product fits the criteria will determine if it will be purchased. The
determining attributes are the features most important to the consumer. If the
consumer is in need of premade meals compared to making their own that will play a
large effect in the decision. Marketers need to show their

compensate families for their losses. This was all done voluntarily as the organization

This case was a wake up call for the officials in Bangladesh and the employment law.
The incident happened because the industry grew quicker than the factories could

The Shawshank Redemption And American Psycho
Psychology by definition is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions,
especially those affecting behavior in a given context. Every brain is biologically
and chemically different, and how these chemicals react in your brain and body can
have an effect on the person s characteristics. The two movies that I chose to watch
were The Shawshank Redemptionand American Psycho. In The Shawshank
Redemption there is a clear case of a mentally healthy character and in American
Psycho there is a very definitive sign of a character with a mental disorder. In The
Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne is portrayed by Tim Robbinsand in
American Psycho, Patrick Bateman is played by Christian Bale. The Shawshank
Redemption came out in 1994 and has been named one of the best movies to be
produced. Shawshank provides a display of a mentally healthy character, Andy
Dufresne, who was convicted for murdercharges on his wife and her lover. Andy is
sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, so needless to say he will be
spending a long time in prison. Before Andy was convicted, he was a hot shot
banker who made a surplus of money but people also claim he fell out of love with
his wife. Not showing his wife enough attention led her to have an affair and then
allegedly Andy found out and murdered the both of them. The only problem with
Andy being sentenced to prison for the murder is the fact that he did not actually do
it and he was falsely convicted for a crime he did
The Technology And Social Trends
When it comes to investing, millennials have a different approach than their parents.
Young investors, who have been through two market crashes, have developed
skepticism and mistrust towards banks and traditional advisory services. Many
millennials prefer to save and forgo investing all together. For those willing to test the
market, technology and social trends play a significant impact on their decision
making. With millennials now outnumbering baby boomers in the U.S., many
traditional financial servicesstrive to connect with the younger generation. This
comes on the heels of a noticeable upward trend in financial technology and online
wealth management. Through the use of technology, robo advisors have built a
successful foundation for attracting young investors.
Technology
Given their love of technology, it comes as no surprise that millennials are
gravitating towards financial technology. Young investors are accustomed to using
technology for every aspect of their lives and investing is no different. Their
relationship with technology makes digital asset management more appealing. Young
adults are more inclined to make choices via a smartphone over in person
interactions. Not only do millennials prefer accessible apps and web based platforms,
but automation has played a major factor in the success of robo advisors. Millennials
are accustomed to subscribing to all their services electronically. To them, investing is
another service that should be automated. Compared
Use Of Language And Context Voltaire s Candide Essay
The narrative techniques, features of language and context Voltaire used when
writing Candide tells us a lot about this book and what Voltaire was trying to
achieve in writing it. Candide is told by a third person narrator who is not a main
character in the book and is completely outside of the storyline. The title page of
Candideimplies that the book was found and translated by Doctor Ralph who is our
narrator. This is a fiction created by Voltaireto distance himself from the book and to
help the reader to understand the satirical nature of Candide.
Telling the story from a third person perspective allows the narrator to know all the
thing the characters in the book do not. He is omniscience, knowing everything
about the circumstances and the characters without being involved with them. This
approach works particularly well in Candide. It allows the reader to stand back and
see how disturbing the word Voltaire has created is. It also gives the reader space to
understand Voltaire s purpose in writing Candide without getting too caught up in the
plight of its characters. It also really highlights how naГЇve and almost narrow
minded Candide is as a character, especially where his philosophical beliefs are
concerned. The use of the third person narrator really highlights the more unrealistic
moments in the passage, for example:
Candide, having served with the Bulgars, performed the Bulgar drill before the
general of this little force with such grace, such celerity,
How Does Gertrude Present Ophelia In Hamlet
Hamlet is a play centered around the revenge tragedy of Elizabethan drama, written
by William Shakespeare. In Shakespeare s play, the death of Old King Hamlet
triggers different actions in its major characters; especially Hamlet, Gertrude,
Claudius, Laertes, and to a lesser extent Polonius and Ophelia. These actions are
disastrous not only to Denmark as a political entity; but also lead to the deaths of the
all the play s characters, except for Horatio.
In Act I Scene 5, the Ghost, seeming to be the Ghost of Old King Hamlet, explains to
Hamlet, how Claudius, Hamlet s uncle, murdered his father and that he wants Hamlet
to avenge his death. The Ghost is directly linked to the majority of the play s themes.

To outside observers, Ophelia is the essence of virtue. Like Gertrude, young Ophelia
is childlike and naive. Unlike Queen Gertrude, Ophelia has good reason to be
unaware of the harsh realities of life. She is very young, and has lost her mother.
Her father, Polonius, and brother, Laertes, love Ophelia tremendously, and because
of that have taken tremendous precautions to shelter her. She is not involved with
matters of state; she spends her days engaged in needlepoint and flower gathering.
She returns the love shown to her by Polonius and Laertes with complete and
unwavering loyalty. Even though her love for Hamlet is strong, she obeys her
father when he tells her not to see Hamlet again or accept any letters that Hamlet
writes. Her heart is pure, and when she does do something dishonest, such as tell
Hamlet that her father has gone home when he is really behind the curtain; it is out
of genuine fear. Ophelia clings to the memory of Hamlet treating her with respect
and tenderness, and she defends him and loves him to the very end despite his
brutality. She is incapable of defending herself, but through her timid responses we
see clearly her intense

Thank you for your input. However, I disagree with you first statement. By allowing
immigrants and refugees into the United States, this is not going to put a huge threat

America. With this in mind, an extra one million is not going to tip the scale so
drastically that this would become a risk . In addition to this, the people living in
America have migrated from across the globe. You argue that our American ideology
and culture may be threatened by immigrants, but in what way particularly? The only
true natives are American Indians, but even their culture has not been fully

Because of his abilities as both a poet and a painter, Cummings developed a new
form of literary cubism: he broke up his material on the page to present it in a new,

included the radical experimentation of punctuation, capitalization, conjunction of
words, and spelling. (Poets.org) Other linguistic creations unique to this poet are his

of risk taking under ideal conditions. He has the strength to take his chances, takes
them willingly and joyfully, takes them for himself and not for others, does not
always win, but when he wins makes something that is worth all the failures, even
worth looking a bit ridiculous at times (Watson, p. 43)
Short-Term Effects Of Cigarettes
Cigarettes are harmful to you as it can cause many health problems in your body.
Even though you re not a smoker, you can still be exposed to the same chemicals
as a smoker can. One cigarette provides you with many chemicals that will damage
your body, slowly and will cause addiction. The chemicals can cause lung cancer,
strokes, heart diseases and many more long term effects of cigarettes. Although you
may not be a smoker, you can still be exposed to the same chemicals as a smoker
will. There are many facts that many people don t know about cigarettes. Although
one cigarettemay look small, a cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals with about 43
chemicals that can contribute to cancer. Nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide and much
more. All cigarettes contain nicotine, which is the ingredient that makes the user
addicted. However, this chemical also constricts blood vessels and increase the blood
pressure, which can lead to many other symptoms. Smokers will feel calmer when
nicotine reaches their bloodstream. Tar is the main chemical in cigarettes that cause
lung/throat cancer. Also, tar is the chemical that makes your teeth yellow unnaturally.
Carbon monoxide is the chemical that restrains the blood to move the oxygen... Show

Some short term effects when you re smoking are the addiction (because of nicotine),
bad breath, yellow teeth (because of tar), decreased lung capacity and increase the
chance of getting asthma. The short term effects of smoking aren t deadly compared
to the long term effects that can lead to death. Heart disease/stroke, cancer(lung,
throat, bladder), reproductive damage (odd sperm cells) and birth defects
(miscarriages, premature births) are some long term effects of smoking. Most people
would think that more smokers die from cancer, but more smokers died from heart
diseases than from cancer. Smoking is something that will make the user more

Pope Benedict IV
This has happened only three other times in the history of the Catholic Church.
They were; St. Celestine V, Benedict IX, and, Pope Gregory VII. The first Pope to
resign in the history of the Church was St. Celestine V, who was elected to office in
Dec. 1294. He didn t want the job and did very little while he was a Pope, his term
lasted only 5 months. After he stepped down the next pope made the decision to
put him in jail until his death. Pope Benedict IX was 18 years old and it is said that
he was very corrupt, ignoring the Catholic followings and sanctions. He held gay
orgies, was accused of rape and murder, and was called a demon from hell. He was
such an embarrassment that the Cardinals paid him to leave. Pope Gregory VII, in...

It is said that he is resigning his post as the Pope because of his physical and
mental powers are not as they once were. He is unable to walk unassisted as of
now. Pope Benedict XVI will have a new residence in the Southwest corner of
Vatican City where he will spend his time praying, reading one of the 2000 books
he had installed, playing the piano, and spending time with his cat. When a Pope
steps down, all the cardinals below the age of 80, come to Rome to pray, consider,
and vote who will the next Pope be. (Uebbing 2013) This is called a papal
conclave. There is no specific time that a conclave will last. It is determined by
when the cardinals feel that their prayers have been answered as to whom the next
Pope will be. The information about Pope Benedict stepping down from his papal
duties was a surprise to many because this has not occurred very often in the
history of Catholicism. In Christianity, a minister can come and go like a job that
is held by a person of no faith. It is simply a contract between the church and the
Minister himself no different that if I go to work for a company and the contract I
would sign with them. I am curious if my informant knew how few Popes have
stepped down and how she feels about it, and if this makes any difference to how she
views Benedict XVI stepping
First Violin Research Paper
A person could lose approximately one hundred and seventy calories just by
playing the violin for an hour. In addition, if one were to play at a young age
studies show they develop better motor skills (Lai Tong, Brendan). How did this
fascinating instrument come to light? The violin has been around for over five
hundred years; scholars have debated the exact origins of the violin. Although, most
scholars agree that the violin evolved from the fiddle and the rebec from the
medieval period, the early 15th century (Estrella, Espie). In its early years the
instrument was not seen as being magnificent, but in time it became a huge
phenomena all over the world. There are many differences in the violins that were

the epitome of technical and artistic aspects. Isaac Stern and Fritz Kreisler where

paper earlier at first the fabrication of violin s strings were with goat gut. Now they
are created out of synthetic materials or steel and twisted with various metals. The
strings are also strung tighter, about fifty percent. Back then people did not use a
chin rest like they do now; in fact, chin rests weren t even brought until the 19th
century (Powers). The fingerboard and the neck are now longer than they use to be.
Some other changes include that of the bass bar and the sound post; both are thicker

Guilt In Steve Harmon s Monster Walter Dean Myers
Monster
I m a monster. I m a monster. I m a monster . This is one of the many things Steve
Harmon had written in his screenplay of his trial. Steve is the main character in
Walter Dean Myers book Monster. Steve faces a trial where he might charged with
the murder of Aguinaldo Nesbitt. He is on trial next to his supposed acquaintance
James King and the Prosecution s attorney Sandra Petrocelli. The book composed in
a third person screenplay of Steve s experiences during the trial. In Monster Walter
Dean Myersuses the appearances of Steve, Osvaldo, and the case itself to prove the
theme that not everything is as it seems.

This is case, at times, appears as proving Steve as innocent, but other times is
seems that Steve is guilty. For example, Bobo Evans had said I ve been knowing
King my whole life. Just met the other guy the night before the robber went down .
This is making Steve seem guilty by including him in the crime. If Bobo had just
said that he had known King his whole life and had not mentioned Steve at all it
would have made Steve look like he had not participated in the robbery. The quote
Me and King planned a get over and we done it portrays Steve as innocent because
it does not mention him help plan the crime. Unfortunately for Steve the testimony
from Bobo had hurt him more than it had helped. Another quote that had hurt
Steve s case was He was supposed to tell us if anybody was in the drugstore. He
didn t say anything so we figured it was all right . This had flat out said that Steve
had been a part of the robbery and had done his part. Bobo had also continued on to
say that they had seen Steve leave the store, as planned, before they had entered the
drugstore. Therefore, because of the evidence, Steve s case is evidence that not
everything is as it
Funeral Home Rule
Most people contact funeral homes whenever a relative of theirs has passed. In
most cases, the family gets good services and everything goes right, but there are
also scenarios where things go totally wrong. The sad truth is, in many cases, many
families do not find out the truth that happens inside the funeral homes. Bodies
have been misplaced, cremations have been done wrong or not done in some cases,
and body parts have been stolen (FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY ABUSE). That
is just some of the few things that have happened. Funeral homes are known for
charging a lot for funerals and in many cases use their knowledge to convince people
to buy more expensive things. Funeral homes have their ways where they outsmart

This rule was enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and it makes it possible
for you to choose only the goods and services you want or need (Consumer
Information). Before this rule was introduced, funeral homes could have charged
you more for caskets and add unnecessary services that were not needed. Funeral
homes would find sneaky ways to make money off the people who were in need of
these services. With this rule, funeral homes are limited to what they do. They are
not allowed to put surprise deals in that you did not know about, or charge you
unfair prices. They have to provide you with listings of prices and allow you to
search around other deals as well. The unethical issue around this situation is that
the workers that sell the caskets and services have learned the psychological
thoughts people have when buying caskets and these services. They know people
are vulnerable and will feel guilty if they don t buy caskets that are nicer. They use
certain language around customers, and the customers fee that they need to spend
more in order to release and guilt and grief easier (Hill, Richard). This is a very
unethical act because people should be treated with the most outright respect when
they are in such a situation. In my opinion, it is very unethical to charge such high
prices and basically play games with people s minds to make more money. These
people who do this take advantage of the customers because they know they will get
away with it, but just because you can get away with something doesn t make it right.
Customers have to act fast because for the most part the death is
Social Commentary In Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice In Pride and Prejudice Austen offers up commentary on a
variety of themes prejudice, family, marriage, class, and so on. Of all the themes,
perhaps none is better developed than that of Pride. Pride and Prejudice is
regarded as a brilliant piece of social commentary, offering a vivid peek into the
British Regency life in 1813. The social milieu of Austen s Regency England was
particularly stratified, and class divisions were rooted in family connections and
wealth. In her work, Austen is often critical of the assumptions, pride, and
prejudices of upper class England. Austen often satirizes England s prideful
individuals; the England she depicts is one in which social mobility is limited, and
class consciousness and pride are relatively strong. It seems that pride is what
hinders the characters from revealing their potentially best nature. Firstly, pride is a
constant presence in characters attitudes and treatment of each other, colouring their
judgments and leading them to make rather foolish mistakes, especially in the case
of Darcy and Elizabeth. The novel, Pride and Prejudice, implies that no one is ever
completely free of pride. In fact, it is pride what prevents Elizabeth and Darcy from
revealing their true feelings about each other. Austen s plot often features characters
forging their respective ways through an established and rigid social hierarchy.
Darcy and Elizabeth s love is shaped and hindered by pride, and therefore they must
elude and
Artemis In The Odyssey
Once upon a time there was a Goddess of the Wilderness whose name was Artemis.
She loved looking after the animals upon the earth. She often traveled down to the
earth to interact and offer her help to the animals. They enjoyed her company;
however, she occasionally got moody and scared them away. In the end she had a
gigantic heart for the animals and cared for them passionately.
Living in one of Artemis forests was the bravest deer she had ever laid eyes on. He
would protect his family like no other animal had ever done before; therefore, he
received the name Aegeus, which means protector. Aegeus courage and strength was

Aphrodite explained that she didn t know where her son, Cupid, was for he was
suppose to be back after he punished the contumacious beauty mortal. She told
Artemis that she would grant her the favor if she figured out where he was.
That s easy, said Artemis and she set off to find him.
She first told all the animals to keep a look out for him, for she was doing
Aphrodite a favor. However, Artemis searched high and low for Cupid and
eventually found him in the Garden of Hellenistic. He was in a daze for a girl
named Psyche after striking himself with his own arrow.
After a little struggle convincing him, Artemis took Cupid up to Mount Olympus to
his mother; accordingly, Aphrodite granted her wish and made Aegeus into a man.

they knew was destined to be between them.

Pi Animal Quotes
Animals = Human ? The difference between the brain of the human and the higher
animal obviously lies in the degree, not the difference on the essence (Charles
Darwin). The purpose of the quote is to express the feeling that the animal and human
is similar, they have the human like qualities. In Life of Pi written by Yann Martel, Pi
uses animal imagery to show that animals that can be mad, suffer, and sad which are
all human qualities. In the Life of Pi, animals have the human like emotions. They
will be mad when others do something harmful to their friends. After the ship sank,
there are some animals survived on Pi s Ark : a zebra, a hyena, an ape and a tiger;
however, the hyena is hurting the zebra. The ape: But with her giant arms,... Show

The animal will be suffered like humans when Pi successfully caught the fish, he is
going to kill it in order to eat; however, he cannot kill the fish by himself. Here is a
quote why he cannot kill the fish. I put the hatchet down. I would break its neck,
sight unseen, I decided. I wrapped the fish tightly in the blanket with both hands. I
started bending it. The more I pressed, the more the fish struggled. I imagined what
it would feel like if I were wrapped in a blanket and someone were trying to break my
neck. I was appalled. I gave up a number of times. Yet I knew it had to be done, and
the longer I waited, the longer the fish s suffering would go on! (Martel P231). Pi
was so kind and he is a Christian, so he is unwilling to kill the fish; furthermore, he
has to kill the fish by breaking its neck, it s impossible for him to done this. When
the fish is suffering, they will be struggle. It s similar to the human being. When
human being are suffering like someone wrapped in a blanket and someone were

Effect of Rising Oil Prices on Indian Economy
A rise in global oil prices by $ 10 per barrel would reduce India s economic growth by
0.2 percentage points and also affect the country s current account deficit, Goldman
Sach said.
A VAR (value at risk) analysis suggests that a $ 10 increase in oil would reduce
GDP growth by 0.2 percentage point, Goldman Sachs said in its latest edition of Asia
Economics Analyst .
India on Monday voiced serious concern over the rising crude oil prices, which have
touched a two year high, and said it could badly affect global economic growth and
even give rise to inflationary pressures.

In this background, I found it reassuring to come across opinions from two unrelated
quarters questioning the connection.
CONFIDENT ASSERTION
There is first the confident assertion of the Chairman and Managing Director of
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Mr R. S. Butola, that the impact of higher crude prices
need not always be severe, and can, in fact, be circumvented by means of some
ingenious countervailing measures.
The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and
upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to
petrochemicals.
For instance, by using modern processes, IOC has been able to convert many black
products into high value fuel such as LPG and petrol, significantly raising the
company s distillate yield from 71.5 per cent in 2004 05 to 75.4 per cent in 2010 11,
and thereby extracting more high value products from every barrel of crude.
A recent IMF working paper (No.11/194) Oil shocks in a global perspective: Are
they really that bad? is a scholarly exposition downplaying the gloomy
prognostications associated with surging oil prices. The importance of the paper is
that it almost exclusively focuses on the economies of developing countries.
It goes into the relationship between oil prices and macroeconomic fundamentals,
including economic output and value and volume of international
Persuasive Essay On Building A New School
In recent (and not so recent) years, there has been many conversations about
reform throughout our school and county. This has obviously been somewhat of a
controversy in all layers of the local populus; among teachers, students, parents,
and other concerned members of the community. The reform bill was (in the
simplest terms) about whether or not to build a new school. While this would be
great in theory, even though I would not be able to enjoy it as I am graduating this
spring, I feel like it s possibly too much. If we would really like to reform this
school then we should focus not on building a completely new school, but instead
focus on fixing the one we have.
The number one best way of improving the school from the inside is focusing on the
small things first. Most people will have a different idea of the best place to start, but
I personally think that the best place is the restrooms.
In 1907 paper towels were invented for use in public restrooms to reduce the risk of
spreading illnesses spread by using normal cloth towels. While we obviously do not
have this issue anymore because we now have options for hand drying beyond a
communal cloth hand towel or even paper towels. Hand dryers came about more
recently, having only just under 70 years ago become popularized, advertised for
their water evaporating capabilities and for being more cost effective than paper
towels. The hype around hand dryers has only snowballed over these 70 years;
claims that hand dryers are
Original Thirteen Colonies
The Original Thirteen Colonies The original 13 colonies were established in 1607.
Virginia/Jamestown was the first followed by, in chronological order, Massachusetts,
New Hampshire, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Carolina,
South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Georgia. These colonies
were governed by the British until the Revolutionary War. The thirteen colonieswere
divided into three groups based on geography: New EnglandColonies, Middle
Colonies, and Southern Colonies. The New England Colonies were New Hampshire,
Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The Middle Colonies were New York,
New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The Southern Colonies were Maryland, Delaware,

The reason the upper class settled in the Southern colonies was because of the
large and very valuable tracts of land available for farming. It was advantageous to
settle in the south because of the perfect climate for farming and growing cash
crops. In 1607, King James 1 split the Atlantic seaboard into two distinct areas. He
gave the southern half to the London Company and the northern half to the
Plymouth Company. A total of 144 ships were sent by the London Company to
settle. They established the settlement called Jamestown. It was at first not an easy
adventure. The settlers primary focus was on finding gold. While they were so
consumed with finding gold, they were not producing any exports to bring money
to them and often times barely had enough food for survival. Virginia began
growing tobacco. This proved to be a very profitable crop for them, but it was also
their main source of income and they relied heavily on it. Virginia had a lot of
slaves, at first mostly white indentured servants who helped in the tobacco fields.
However, later Virginia became a true slave society with slaves from Africa. White
male landowners held most of the power. These white men controlled the government
and belonged to the Church of England. In 1775, Virginia ended up becoming a royal
government, meaning the colonial government was appointed by the crown.
Religious tolerance took a while to prosper in Virginia. There was a high influx of
Anglicans in this colony and they were legally required to attend church services in
the beginning. Taxes were collected to support the church. On Sundays, both business
affairs and church series were conducted (B. Wolfe). Virginia s climate consisted of
hot and humid summers and moderate winters. The hot, humid climate made
conditions optimal
Consequences And Consequences Of The Panic Of 1819
The Panic of 1819 was the nation s first major economic depression. The Panic of
1819 followed the events of the War of 1812, a period of national liveliness and
included the forming of the Second Bank of America. After the War of 1812, the
United States economy thrived as chartered State banks that were loosely formed
issued redeemable promissory notes that were far beyond specie. The amount of
money multiplied rapidly. Eventually, bank notes started to be sold at a discount as
foreigners and money brokers profitably claimed the notes for specie. In addition, the
Bank of the United Statesbegan to call on branches to redeem other bank obligations.
The monetary expansion ended all of a sudden and a lot of bankruptcies came to
pass. The aftermath of the War of 1812 included war debt to be fixed, downturns in
exports, and lack of demand for both manufactured goods and agricultural goods.
There was a plan that was put in place to help repair America s current economic
state such as establishing the Second Bank of the United States to provide credit to
citizens and establishing other banks around the U.S. This plan ended up causing a
lot of problems such as poor management of the banks and the policies within the
United States economy.
One of the social groups affected by this economic depression was middle class
workers such as merchants and farmers. The Panic of 1819 caused consequences for
the lives of both merchants and farmers. The consequences include a slump in
Analysis Of On Noise Essay
On Noise, is a stoic piece composed by Seneca who was raised in Rome during the
first century AD. On Noise explores an aspect of humanity that is surprisingly
appropriate for our current times, how it is part of human nature to become
distracted. Seneca explores the fascinating idea of how it is human nature to be
distracted and that we must busy ourselves with tasks or succumb to the danger of
being overcome by the distractions or the noise that surrounds us, he does through
the extended metaphor of the obvious distractions of sound and by using the
scenario of busy street in everyday life, for the sake of this essay we will take the
definition of humannature to be The general psychological characteristics, feelings
and behavioural traits of human kind, regarded as shared by all humans . We as a
reader must take into account that this is a translation of a Latin text and that in
Latin the order that the words are written is extremely important, even so that
writers such as Ovid or Pliny could spend days on single sentences trying to
perfectly compose it, Latin prose is an art form in itself, but we can grasp the simple
techniques that are just as applicable in English as they are in Latin, and henceforth
from them the examination of human psyche that Seneca has gone through in this
text. We are led through a journey that was typical to texts of this stoic form and

God Reflection
Almost every day of my life, I ask myself the same question and that is: How will
God be present in my life today? The answer to this question changes every single
day because God has a different plan for me and all of the people that surround me.
From what I have seen over the course of my life, I have noticed that Gods presence
has always been there for me on my weakest days and my strongest. During these
times where I have experienced God watching over me, I feel that my relationship
with Him as strengthened and that my faith has grown as well. These moments in
my life make me reflect on what it truly means to have the presence of God in my
life and how He helps me to grow and build a deeper connection with those in my
church, school, home, and especially the Holy Trinity. I know that whatever I am
doing today or tomorrow, wherever the path I am currently walking on takes me, I
should take just a moment to take in all that God has bestowed upon me. Over the
course of my existence my understanding and my beliefs about Christianity has
tremendously changed because as we grow older we have the ability to take in
more knowledge than when we were young. When I was a little kid my parents
would take me to church every Sunday and my school would have us go to mass
every Wednesday as well, but as years have flown by me and my family go to
church less and less. I feel terrible that I can not attend church as often as I use to,
but now that I am in high schoolI have discovered

  • 2. Essay on Foreclosure Crisis In America It is evident that the housing deficit is just a layer of the many problems we are suffering from during the hard times in our economy. Foreclosure is indeed a horrific word that is haunting homeowners across the US. Because of the situation in the current economy, millions of Americans have been plagued by foreclosing on their homes and are left to find new location for themselves and their families to live. Recently in Detroit, with the efforts to negate the current standings, they provided housing aid. According to the housing statistic, the housing aid drew crowds in Detroit. One in four working age adults in Detroit are without a job and the city s home foreclosure rate continues to be among the nation s highest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem is there is inevitably a lack of housing, due to homelessness and influx of people. Without enough housing, the prices of the homes will be very expensive; however, if there is not a balanced mix of luxury and affordable housing, those already living there will be forced to leave because they will not be able to maintain taxes and other increases that will be tacked on to housing expenses. In order to make this process a bit more feasible, New York created the Inclusionary Zoning program. This program required that developers set aside a certain percentage of units in a new development as affordable units. The issue with this zoning ordinance is that although it was stated as a requirement the city kept it as a voluntary process. With the ordinance being voluntary and developers with a capitalist mentality, many developers opted out of adhering to the ordinance. Although the residents of New York may not be in the power broker or decision making classification, many of its inhabitants have been there for many years. Unless there are efforts to make this ordinance mandatory, there will be much opposition to keep new development out. There is by no means a simple solution to solving the home foreclosure epidemic but there are many changes that can be made to help Americans across the globe. The first, I believe starts
  • 3. Human Blood Type Inheritance Human Blood Type Inheritance Introduction The blood grouping systems commonly used include the ABO system that was first described by Karl Landsteiner. The discovery of blood grouping systems helped to avoid unnecessary death emanating from blood transfusion. The basics of blood grouping systems lie behind the inheritance of genes. The possession and inheritance of blood groups attribute to the parents who combine alleles responsible for the blood groups. The parents thus play a pivotal role in determining the blood groups of the offspring. This paper will work towards the discussion of inheritance of human blood groups. An Overview of Blood Groups Blood grouping involves the use of ABO system as described by Karl Landsteiner. The grouping came into existence in the year 1900 after discovery by Nobel Prize winner Karl Landsteiner. He first discovered three blood types A, B, and O, but after two years he discovered the fourth blood group AB. This discovery led to four major types of blood that includes A, AB, B and O. The grouping depends on the presence of two chief antigens and antibodies. The two antigens responsible for blood grouping include A and B while the antibodies include anti A and anti B. The combination of the two antigens and antibodies thus determines the blood types. The blood type A has antigen A and antibody anti B. The blood group B express Antigen B and antibody anti A (Reid and Lomas, 2004). Blood group O express no antigen but possess antibodies

In archaic times, only kings could retain this sense of nobility. But now nobility belongs to every man. Instead of being grown like that rest of your food, taking a certain length of time or only growing during certain seasons, it was genetically modified to grow faster and with no consideration to season at all. This concept as farfetched as it may sound is not so farfetched after all with the production of genetically modified GM salmon trying to make its way into our fishers markets and grocery stores today. Some of the benefits or rewards for being able to use this technology are that as the world s population continues to surge, so does the consumption of foods like seafood. GM foods, such as the salmon, provide a partial solution to not only support more people, but will also help preserve the remaining animals that have been overexploited and farmed (Zohar, 2010). Another benefit of GM salmon would be that it could save the industry millions of dollars in fish feed, while preventing loss in revenue do to diseased fish (Zohar, 2010). However with benefits follow the risks, which are what some consumer groups are focused on. Consumer groups such as Consumers Union, Food and Water Watch, and Center for Food Safety have created a petition in which they are claiming that genetically modifying the salmon changes the nutritional value and alters the composition of the fish, therefore making the fish a food additive (Barret, 2012). If GM salmon are considered to be a food addictive, then the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will have to place the GM salmon under extensive testing to make sure that it is safe for consumption (Barret, 2012). Other concerns are based on the consequences of these GM fish escaping into the wild and reproducing with other non GM fish (Barret, 2010). Another concern that many consumers and consumer groups have is whether or not these GM salmon should be labeled

In single gender schools there is less drama, it helps preserve culture, there are less stereotypes, and test scores and confidence levels rise. Single gender schools have many positive impacts, and they help students prepare for the future. For starters there is less drama at an all girls school. Since there aren t any guys on campus, you aren t gonna be jealous of a couple at school. Another reason there is less drama is that you aren t vying for the guys attention. This also leads to more modesty. Loran Wilbur , who went to an all girls school said, There was a lot less pressure for appearance at Wellesley. Girls usually just wore sweat pants and a t shirt. Law Enforcement Agency Analysis Unfortunately, no policy or enforcement mechanism exists to segregate data housed on the same physical server in the event of governmental interception of data (Subashini and Kavitha 2011). The result is that Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) investigations often include innocent, co located data. In most cases, the owner of the data does not know their data is co located with suspected criminal data, or that the data is part of an investigation. The segregation of data is also critical to access controls applied to the data. To insure successful access controls in a cloud environment, with co located data, the ability to determine who can access the data must reside with the client, in both enterprise and private user applications (Subashini and Kavitha 2011). Security and privacy of cloud based data is only effective through agreed upon application of policy and governance against the underlying technology architecture. The compulsion of third party vendors to turn over data to law enforcement, or otherwise be complicit in interception or storage of data is a direct threat to the integrity, security, and privacy of data stored by service providers (Subashini and Kavitha 2011). Most people who are looking for a diet see a need to please themselves and need change physically. When looking at a diet consumers are looking for something that is functional and can change them. The marketers can influence my decision by initially being perceived as something that I need. Information is the next step in deciding what to get based on the consumer s needs. Internal and external information will be put in to play when deciding where to head next. Internal information is present information and comes from previous experiences. External information is what someone finds when looking for a solution for their needs. Both types of information can be used to market positively and negatively. Marketers can do everything they can to have their product be put in a good light. When consumers look externally markets can give reasons why it s worth a consumer s time to use their product with little to no risk. With all information available it s time to make a decision. Every brain is biologically and chemically different, and how these chemicals react in your brain and body can have an effect on the person s characteristics. The two movies that I chose to watch were The Shawshank Redemptionand American Psycho. In The Shawshank Redemption there is a clear case of a mentally healthy character and in American Psycho there is a very definitive sign of a character with a mental disorder. In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne is portrayed by Tim Robbinsand in American Psycho, Patrick Bateman is played by Christian Bale. The Shawshank Redemption came out in 1994 and has been named one of the best movies to be produced. Shawshank provides a display of a mentally healthy character, Andy Dufresne, who was convicted for murdercharges on his wife and her lover. Andy is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, so needless to say he will be spending a long time in prison. Before Andy was convicted, he was a hot shot banker who made a surplus of money but people also claim he fell out of love with his wife. Not showing his wife enough attention led her to have an affair and then allegedly Andy found out and murdered the both of them. The only problem with Andy being sentenced to prison for the murder is the fact that he did not actually do it and he was falsely convicted for a crime he did

Young investors, who have been through two market crashes, have developed skepticism and mistrust towards banks and traditional advisory services. Many millennials prefer to save and forgo investing all together. For those willing to test the market, technology and social trends play a significant impact on their decision making. With millennials now outnumbering baby boomers in the U.S., many traditional financial servicesstrive to connect with the younger generation. This comes on the heels of a noticeable upward trend in financial technology and online wealth management. Through the use of technology, robo advisors have built a successful foundation for attracting young investors. Technology Given their love of technology, it comes as no surprise that millennials are gravitating towards financial technology. Young investors are accustomed to using technology for every aspect of their lives and investing is no different. Their relationship with technology makes digital asset management more appealing. Young adults are more inclined to make choices via a smartphone over in person interactions. Not only do millennials prefer accessible apps and web based platforms, but automation has played a major factor in the success of robo advisors. • 37. Use Of Language And Context Voltaire s Candide Essay The narrative techniques, features of language and context Voltaire used when writing Candide tells us a lot about this book and what Voltaire was trying to achieve in writing it. Candide is told by a third person narrator who is not a main character in the book and is completely outside of the storyline. The title page of Candideimplies that the book was found and translated by Doctor Ralph who is our narrator. This is a fiction created by Voltaireto distance himself from the book and to help the reader to understand the satirical nature of Candide. Telling the story from a third person perspective allows the narrator to know all the thing the characters in the book do not. He is omniscience, knowing everything about the circumstances and the characters without being involved with them. This approach works particularly well in Candide. It allows the reader to stand back and see how disturbing the word Voltaire has created is. It also gives the reader space to understand Voltaire s purpose in writing Candide without getting too caught up in the plight of its characters. It also really highlights how naГЇve and almost narrow minded Candide is as a character, especially where his philosophical beliefs are concerned. The use of the third person narrator really highlights the more unrealistic moments in the passage, for example: Candide, having served with the Bulgars, performed the Bulgar drill before the general of this little force with such grace, such celerity,

In Shakespeare s play, the death of Old King Hamlet triggers different actions in its major characters; especially Hamlet, Gertrude, Claudius, Laertes, and to a lesser extent Polonius and Ophelia. These actions are disastrous not only to Denmark as a political entity; but also lead to the deaths of the all the play s characters, except for Horatio. In Act I Scene 5, the Ghost, seeming to be the Ghost of Old King Hamlet, explains to Hamlet, how Claudius, Hamlet s uncle, murdered his father and that he wants Hamlet to avenge his death. Unlike Queen Gertrude, Ophelia has good reason to be unaware of the harsh realities of life. She is very young, and has lost her mother. Her father, Polonius, and brother, Laertes, love Ophelia tremendously, and because of that have taken tremendous precautions to shelter her. She is not involved with matters of state; she spends her days engaged in needlepoint and flower gathering. She returns the love shown to her by Polonius and Laertes with complete and unwavering loyalty. Even though her love for Hamlet is strong, she obeys her father when he tells her not to see Hamlet again or accept any letters that Hamlet writes. Her heart is pure, and when she does do something dishonest, such as tell Hamlet that her father has gone home when he is really behind the curtain; it is out of genuine fear. Of all the themes, perhaps none is better developed than that of Pride. Pride and Prejudice is regarded as a brilliant piece of social commentary, offering a vivid peek into the British Regency life in 1813. The social milieu of Austen s Regency England was particularly stratified, and class divisions were rooted in family connections and wealth. In her work, Austen is often critical of the assumptions, pride, and prejudices of upper class England. Austen often satirizes England s prideful individuals; the England she depicts is one in which social mobility is limited, and class consciousness and pride are relatively strong. It seems that pride is what hinders the characters from revealing their potentially best nature. Firstly, pride is a constant presence in characters attitudes and treatment of each other, colouring their judgments and leading them to make rather foolish mistakes, especially in the case of Darcy and Elizabeth. The novel, Pride and Prejudice, implies that no one is ever completely free of pride. In fact, it is pride what prevents Elizabeth and Darcy from revealing their true feelings about each other. Austen s plot often features characters forging their respective ways through an established and rigid social hierarchy. Darcy and Elizabeth s love is shaped and hindered by pride, and therefore they must elude and

The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to petrochemicals. This has obviously been somewhat of a controversy in all layers of the local populus; among teachers, students, parents, and other concerned members of the community. The reform bill was (in the simplest terms) about whether or not to build a new school. While this would be great in theory, even though I would not be able to enjoy it as I am graduating this spring, I feel like it s possibly too much. If we would really like to reform this school then we should focus not on building a completely new school, but instead focus on fixing the one we have. The reason the upper class settled in the Southern colonies was because of the large and very valuable tracts of land available for farming. It was advantageous to settle in the south because of the perfect climate for farming and growing cash crops. In 1607, King James 1 split the Atlantic seaboard into two distinct areas. He gave the southern half to the London Company and the northern half to the Plymouth Company. A total of 144 ships were sent by the London Company to settle. They established the settlement called Jamestown. It was at first not an easy adventure. The settlers primary focus was on finding gold. While they were so consumed with finding gold, they were not producing any exports to bring money to them and often times barely had enough food for survival. Virginia began growing tobacco. This proved to be a very profitable crop for them, but it was also their main source of income and they relied heavily on it. The Panic of 1819 followed the events of the War of 1812, a period of national liveliness and included the forming of the Second Bank of America. After the War of 1812, the United States economy thrived as chartered State banks that were loosely formed issued redeemable promissory notes that were far beyond specie. The amount of money multiplied rapidly. Eventually, bank notes started to be sold at a discount as foreigners and money brokers profitably claimed the notes for specie.
