Martin Luther Essays
Writing an essay on Martin Luther can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The difficulty arises
not only from the vast amount of information available on this historical figure but also from the
need to critically analyze and synthesize the key aspects of his life, impact, and contributions.
Martin Luther was a complex figure who played a pivotal role in the Protestant Reformation, and
exploring his ideas, actions, and their consequences requires a nuanced understanding.
To begin with, one must delve into Luther's early life, theological developments, and the events
leading up to the Ninety-Five Theses. This involves navigating through primary sources and
historical records to gain a comprehensive understanding of the context in which Luther lived.
Moreover, the essay should address the theological implications of Luther's teachings, such as his
emphasis on justification by faith and the priesthood of all believers.
The challenge intensifies when exploring Luther's interaction with political and social dynamics
of his time. His relationship with the Catholic Church, the ensuing conflicts, and the eventual
formation of Protestantism require careful analysis. Additionally, one needs to examine Luther's
impact on education, language, and the broader cultural landscape.
Furthermore, the essay should not only narrate Luther's story but also critically evaluate his
legacy. This involves assessing the long-term consequences of his ideas, both positive and
negative, on religious, social, and political dimensions. It requires considering the
counterarguments and alternative perspectives, ensuring a well-rounded and unbiased portrayal
of Luther's historical significance.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Martin Luther demands a meticulous examination of historical
records, theological concepts, and the multifaceted impacts of his actions. It requires analytical
skills, a deep understanding of the context, and the ability to present a nuanced perspective.
While challenging, the process offers an opportunity to engage with a crucial period in history
and reflect on the enduring influence of one of its most influential figures.

The Catastrophic Impact of Rising Oceans on the Pacific Islands
All over the world indigenous communities are faced with an array of new problems,
though the public continues to gain insight into the lives of these people they
continue to be marginalized in the global arena as well. The Pacific Islands are an
entity far removed from the minds of most westerners. The primary focus of any
political discourse within the United States places most emphasis on Australia and
New Zealand ignoring the smaller less politically salient states. However, it is these
smaller islands that will bare the brunt of one huge problem in the future, global
warming. For the purpose of this paper I will ignore the polemics of global warming

Not only have increased temperatures been noticed on dry land but also in the oceans,
which is even more frightening. It is worse because the oceans absorb a lot of the
atmospheric heat if it weren t for that the land temperatures would be even higher.
And with the polar ice caps receding the mean oceanic sea level is also rising.
Speaking strictly in terms of the next hundred years the islands with the lowest
altitudes are of greatest concern in regard to swelling oceans. Low lying island
states and atolls are especially vulnerable to climate change and associated sea level
rise because in many cases much of the terrain rarely exceeds 3 4m above present
mean sea level. This is not to say that the other higher islands will escape unscathed
from rising sea levels. For them the problem isn t necessarily complete immersion but
the alteration of costal zones is of concern. It is in these regions that most of the main
settlements are and a majority of the vital economic infrastructures, making them very
vulnerable.
The ecosystems of the ocean are particularly sensitive to slight but permanent
changes in the average surface temperature of the earth. For the people of the Pacific
Islands this is crucial connected to their future. First, the coral reefs that are in the
shallow waters surrounding many of the pacific islands are incredibly fragile to begin

Comparison Of Greed In Elle Woods s Legally Blonde
Despite physical beauty, greed can create an ugly personality that affects
relationships with others. Elle Woods, worked her way up from nothing more than
living as a pretty girl to get into Harvard, in the movie Legally Blonde. While
Glinda, of Wicked, used her high social status to remain in power by tromping down
others. Glinda the Good is known as the epitome of goodness but she stepped on
other to work her way up. Elle Woodshowever, was ambitious and worked hard to
better herself and built her way up to prevail as powerful. Both of these women may
seem nothing more than beautiful, but they arose above what people thought they
could become to ensue as powerful, although in extremely different ways. Glinda s
greed left her well liked, but also isolated, depressed and alone, while Elle Woods s
ambition gave her a happier future and more successful life.
At the beginning of Legally Blonde, Elle Woods loses the man she loves to a
different girl, which makes her very upset. Vivian, the girl Elle s ex ended up
going out with after Elle and her boyfriend broke up, was extremely mean to Elle,
but she didn t let it get the best of her. When asked how her first day continued after
meeting Vivian, Elle describes it as, good, except for this horrible preppy girl..who
made me look bad in front of the professor. But no biggie (SergeiK). Despite being
bullied by Vivian for the remainder of the movie, Elle chooses to put their
differences aside in the end and try to comfort
The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher
Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not
knowing what happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a
continuation of their sense perception post death allowing the possibility of being
punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus, an ancient Greek
philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that deathis the end of
our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to
Menoeceus, 10.124 125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in
support of him claiming the fearof death is irrational is better titled as the privation
of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus claimed that death is nothing
to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in the
privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and
not the process of death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will
accept the notion that death is the end of our existence. In this essay I will present
the privation of experience argument in my own words based on my interpretation of
his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given that one
can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of
being dead.
Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I
will state that Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view
Monitoring And Reviewing Quality Assurance Programs
The IQA role should be considered to be a privileged one, with high levels of personal
responsibility required when accessing, handling (including appropriate sharing) and
storing information in all of the formats the information may take electronic, printed
material, discussion. When planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing
quality assurance programs, I will be privy to not insignificant amounts of
information. This information can be personal in its nature when relating to the
assessment practitioners and to qualification candidates, or can be commercially
sensitive when the information relates to the internal policies and procedures
operated by my own organisation, the centre undergoing the quality assurance cycle,
and the qualification awarding organisations. My responsibilities relating to the
correct handling of all types of data are not only established best practice, but
demanded by law. The individuals and organisations involved in quality assurance
activities must enjoy absolute confidence in my gathering and utilisation of their
information. Without this confidence in the sharing of data, as an IQA I will not be
in receipt of all the data I require in order to make reasoned, and secure determinations
the likely consequence being the invalidity of the entire assessment quality assurance

Characters In Macbeth
In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, numerous of events occur. A series of characters
are introduced such as Lady Macbeth, King Duncan, Banquo, Macduff and many
others throughout the play. As many introductions of characters are put in place, the
plot of the story changes from time to time. The three most important events that
occur in Macbethare the prophecies that the witches tell Macbeth and Banquo (1.3.50
53), the death of King Duncan (2.2.19) and the death of Macbeth (5.8.32 40). These
events have a ripple effect on one another and are the reason why they are the three
most important.
The witches are introduced in the beginning of the play (1.1.1 12) and are discussing
when to meet again. They re appear in Act 3 when Macbeth and ... Show more content

Macbeth had his reasons to not kill Duncan: committing violent crimes teaches
other people to commit violence and the violence of students will come back to
plague teachers (1.7.8 10); he is his kinsman and his subject, so Macbeth should
always try to protect him (1.7.13 14); people will shed a flood of tears that will
drown the wind like a horrible downpour of rain (1.7.25); and many others. Macbeth
goes along with the plan of murdering Duncan. Lady Macbeth had made a plan of
getting the servants drunk enough to forget what has happened that night and blame
the death of Duncan on them. In addition, Lady Macbeth had influenced Macbeth to
continue with the plan when she questioned his manhood, and calls him a coward.
The importance of this event is that it there was a huge, sudden change in Macbeth s
character. At first Macbeth had felt guilty of killing Duncan as stated One cried, God
bless us! And Amen the other, ... List ning their fear I could not say Amen, when
they did say God bless us! (2.2.24 27). However, his guilt of killing Duncan vanishes
briskly when he decided to kill his best friend, Banquo, without hesitation. Macbeth
grew more bloodthirsty, barbarous, violent and ruthless. All due to the murder of
King Duncan.
William Shakespeare ends Macbeth with the downfall of the protagonist, Macbeth.

An Essay About Edm
A New Type Of Music EDM EDM is a real music. Since 1980, electronic music first
appeared in nightclub, and soon became popular. It also being highly accepted in
nowadays society. Furthermore, EDM had been widely used in many singer
songs, for instance, Not today , a song from a Korea s boy band, also a famous
song let me love you , which made by both DJ Snake and Jutin Bieber. EDM is not
just a club music. However, cause the electronic music doesn t involve any
instrument, some critics oppose the idea that EDM is a genre of music. The
argument about EDM has been sustained for a long time, it s time for those rigid
people accept the new technology. EDM doesn t really mean electronic dance music.

As a popular music in nowadays, EDM doesn t involve any instrument in it. In
people s common sense, musics are all create with instruments, can EDM also
count as a music, which break up the tradition. The definition for music shouldn t
be that confined. In the ancient time, there s no instrument , people knocked
desks, bowls, bows as the beats for their songs. With time elapsing, instrument been
created, and defined as instrument. Let s say instrument is a thing which give
people beats and complete the song. As well as electronic device also can give
people beats and complete songs, electronic dance music can also be a music. I
had read a article about whether EDM can be a genre music. In this article, author
mentioned a important idea that who or which group of people can decided the
genre of music. In my opinion, no one can decided it. Music is a thing about
emotion, everyone have different emotion. We can t say somebody s emotion is
wrong. The things is, when we heard a song, a group of people may have the same
felling about it, they may like it and become fans, they may not like it, then just skip
it and find another song they like. We have no right to deny someone s
How Did England Lose Colonial America
In the early American days, America was mostly controlled by English and French
settlers. They fought for land near the fertile Ohio River Valley, both claiming to
own the land. The strive to fully own this land led to the French and Indian war in
1754. The French fought with the Native Americans against England and its
colonies. In 1763, the war finally ended with the surrender at Montreal and the
Treaty of Paris. England had won the war, but at a certain price. Eventually,
through a chain of events, England lost rebellious America because of this war.
After the French and Indian war, England needed to pay off a large war debt. They
decided to abuse their power in eastern America to pay off the debt. They taxed basic

The Birth Weight Of A Newborn
From the moment a newborn is birthed into the world they begin their physical
development at a larger rate than any other period of their life. The first year of
life is full of rapid physical growth in all aspects such as weight, height, limb
lengths and even the physical growth of internal organs. On average, the birth
weight of a newborn will double by the time they reach six months old and triple at
the end of their first year of life. While weight is steadily increasing there is also an
expansion of the babies head and chest as internal organs such as the brain, heart, and
lungs develop as well. (Infancy, 2016)
On average the head of a newborn makes up about 25% of their total length, which is
the height. This can easily be seen by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The size of the brain increases due to the maturation of the brain which includes the
forming of connections of neurons and increased cognitive development. (Lumen
Learning, 2014)
2: Early Childhood
Early childhood also produces physical changes but not to the degree to which
infancy does. There are large increases in height, about 3 inches each year, and also
gain weight, about 4 to 5 pounds each year. While it is important to recognize that
there will be increases in weight gain, during this stage it is very important for the
physical development of the child to take special care in their eating habits. (Lumen
Learning, 2014)
Early childhood is a very active time for children. Children can be seen, for the most
part, constantly in motion whether it is jumping, running, or simply being unable to
stand still. While children are taking part in these activities they are strengthening
their gross motor skills. Most of the physical activity a child takes place in during
this time with not be of a high skill level, such as a particular sport.
Middle Childhood:
The growth rates of middle childhood are generally slower than that of infancy and
early childhood. On average a child will gain about 5 7 pounds and grow about 2
inches per year. During this time a child will also start to experience increased
muscle strength and even an increase in lung capacity. Because of these things it is
possible to children in this stage of development to engage in more

The first layer of the brain is the cortex which covers the top and sides of the brain.
This area controls reasoning and language, and this area will be less active when

The user may increase the amount of a drug taken due to the drug being
metabolized too quickly or being removed from the body. A person may
compensate their behavior when exposed to a drug overtime such as learning to
drive while intoxicated. The impairment is reduced and this is known as behavioral
tolerance. Pharmacodynamics tolerance is the main contributor to the need to
increase the dosage of a drug in order to avoid withdrawal symptoms. The user does
not feel the same effects of a dosage so the dosage must be increased in order to get
the same feeling.

The largest deficit that can be produced to avoid adverse reactions to drug taken in

that need to take multiple medications such as person with diabetes and high blood

The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay
The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the
United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for
storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its
rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and arid for the rest. This
review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This
area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water
harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required
volumes of water are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement
will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the
refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this paper are
to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to
predict what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The
questions that I intend to answer are: What is the current water usage of the refugee
settlement in Mayukwayukwa? What is the minimum volume that will meet the
basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? An accurate data set of
water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as
there have been no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. The total water
usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement is 64,240,000 Litres/Year. This total

The police officer can seize the marijuana plants based on the Plain View Doctrine.

In an extension of the plain view doctrine, officers are also allowed to do a
protective sweep when they make an arrest on or outside private premises. They
may, despite the absence of a search warrant, examine the entire premises for other
persons whose presence would pose a threat either to their safety or to evidence
that could be removed or destroyed. [5] The police officer has the right to seize
anything in plain view while conducting the sweep. The police officer would need
to lock down the house after the sweep and apply for the search warrant. If the
police officer precedes to search the resident s house without obtaining a search
warrant the evidence obtained can be deemed illegal under the Fruit of the
Poisonous Tree Doctrine. Under this rule, Fruit of the Poisonous Tree Doctrine,
evidence that has been seized illegally is considered tainted and cannot be used
against a suspect. [6] The Exclusionary Rule could also be used as cited in the
Mapp v. Ohio case. Anything obtained illegally could be deemed tainted or
inadmissible in court. It is imperative that the police officers follow all procedures
faithfully and as per the tenets that the courts have set up. Any mistakes can, and
regularly do, permit a liable party to go free on a technicality.

Analysis Of The Movie Moonlight Jenkins
Through the depiction of Chiron and his struggle in the film Moonlight Jenkins
shows that the system one lives in and the internal self results in domination against
oneself. Chiron the protagonist of the film is considered weak and fragile in
comparison to his classmates and the people in his community and thus Chiron is

Pros And Cons Of Discrimination In Italy
Sometimes and this is something that go against the human rights is the
discrimination, fans, well... bad fans discriminate players. In Europe, most in Italy
they discriminate the players that have a different color of skin, like for example
Balotelli, Balotelli suffered discrimination after he join to the A.C Milan, ultras of

Discrimination, the discrimination should be sanctioned, but police and nobody do
nothing to protect the rights of this player, and this acts of discrimination occurs in
everywhere, in all the stadiums of Italy and in all stadiums of South America, this is
something serious and that people have to become aware.
Why? Because actually children suffered the same acts of discrimination, last year I
was in a match for the tournament of all the schools of Guayaquil and Samborondon
and before our game, was a match between a school that is for students of a lower
class and a school of high class and the school that was for high class and you expect
that students of that school be educated, but no!, the students of that school

water, it was shaken. When it was shaken, the banana fragments were mixed with the
water more, but after the shaking, the banana fragments clumped together and
floated to the bottom. Because the flasks could only be shaken two at a time (one
for each hand on a single person), they were not all shaken at the same time.
Therefore, some flasks were strained into water after a shorter period of time than
others. Having a partner/partners could ve enabled all the flasks to be shaken and
strained into the water simultaneously.
Because the same banana was used for all five trials of each level, there might ve

A Brief Note On Security Tactics Adoption And A Security...
IV.CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Ryoo, J. et al. was successful in investigating the degree of security tactics adoption
and clearly identified a security gap between the design and implementation of the
software.
The authors followed a manual process to study security vulnerabilities in open
source software. Processes like code review or searching for security keywords in the
documentation or source code does not prove if the software protects its users from
malicious intrusions or leaking private data.
The authors searched for keywords like security, authenticate, authorize, cipher,
encrypt etc. in the source code of the selected 53 Open Source Software to see if any
of these security tactics appear as file names or class names. This is not a ... Show

900 social insurance numbers were stolen from Canadian Revenue Agency by
exploiting the heartbleed bug.
To identify such critical bugs, there has to be an automated testing framework that
tests common programming errors, data leakage and other ways of malicious
intrusions into the application. This paper is very limited to identifying the rate of
usage of the security tactics in open source software. Well documented and
implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and
reliability of any software application.
V.OUR CONTRIBUTION
The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when
deploying or using any open source software.
A.Notification
Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting
issue with Open Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack
of awareness about the security update. All the security patches to the application are
pushed to consumers through such updates.
Maintenance is very important to maintain the quality and reliability of the product.
In the software industry updates are a form of maintenance.
We suggest Open source software community to start notifying consumers about the
update. This can done by assigning a unique identification for each of its users and
mandatorily collecting their contact information. Subscribing users to the respective

Persuasive Speech Outline on Texting while driving March 21st, 2013 I.
Introduction A. The main premise of my argument is that no one for whatever
reason should be texting while driving. B: Defining the issue: Distracted driving
while texting 1. Texting and driving 2. Lack of concentration, losing focus on
driving 3. Looking at texts and not paying attention to the surroundings scenery C:
Standing on this issue? All drivers need to be aware of distracted driving and take
steps to minimize the risk to themselves and others. I m asking you today to listen to
the statistics and the stories and decide for yourself whether that one text message, is
worth the cost of a human life. II. Supporting Facts #1 A: While distracted... Show

C: Conclusion about this detail: It is very important to first acknowledge the
dangerous impact of this distraction s alarming statistics that shows about the safety
of driving while texting. Many people don t see and think about the consequences
that can occur in this situation. More and more companies are implementing new
strategies, for instance, signing a pledge not to use the phone while on the road, and
these new changes are adding more responsible drivers. But it is still not enough to
say that we have gained control over the problem. V: Conclusion: Therefore
according to the facts and statistics that were shown previously, people that are still
texting while driving might think that they can juggle these big frames of steel they
drive every day, with devices like their cell phones without paying the price, are
greatly mistaken! First off, no one can say that texting while driving is not one if not
the most dangerous action one can do behind a motorized vehicle. What can refute
that problem that seems all around us whether commuting or not. Consequently due
to the nature of the cell phone use while behind the wheel drivers should not have
permission under any circumstance to text while driving. Regardless of the stance
every individual takes on this matter, people need to realize the importance of this
issue and implement the good driving behaviors. As
Biography of Henry Ford
Henry Ford Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863, near Dearborn, Michigan.
Henry Ford create the Model T car in 1908 and went on to develop the assembly line
mode of production, which transformed the industry. As a result, Ford sold millions
of cars and became a famous company (http://www.biography.com/people/henry ford

During Henry s free time, he would spend time working on building a gasoline
engine ignited by electricity. On June 4, 1896, at age 32, Henry completed his first
successful horseless carriage which was called the Quadricycle (http:/
/www.hfmgv.org/exhibits/hf/). Soon after that, Henry started working on making
better automobiles and making them for sale. Henry joined with investors to
establish a company that would manufacturer automobiles. But then a year later,
the company was disbanded. Henry Ford designed a new car, the Model T. Henry
built it in 1908 and was designed to be lighter, faster, and stronger. Henry had found
and used Vanadium steel for the Model T which was much stronger than regular
steel. When Henry finished a Model T, he would paint it black since that paint color
dried the fastest. Ever since the Model T became popular so quickly, Henry was
trying to find a way to speed up manufacturing (http://www.history.com/topics/henry

a motorized conveyor belt which moved the cars to the workers, while the each
worker add a part to the car as the car pass them. The assembly line helped make time
making cars go faster and the cost. The assembly line made the cars cheaper. The
Model T cars was sold for $850, then dropped to $300. Between 1908 until 1927,
Henry made about 15 million cars

Introduction
The current international system is characterized by growth in globalization hence
regional integration is becoming a common phenomenon in most parts of the world.
As a result of states becoming more interconnected, most of them have opted for
regional integration so as to enhance trade between states thus boosting economies
of the states as well as the regions as a whole. Besides free trade, regional
integration has seen to it the elimination of trade barriers, free movement of goods
and people across borders, regional co operation in issues to do with peace and
security within the regions among various other benefits of regional integration. One
of the regions that has grown as a result of regional integration is the European Union
(EU), which is an economic and political partnership composed of 28 European
countries. This paper will focus on the EU and give a theoretical analysis of the
Brexit while giving lessons of integration and liberalization based on the Brexit.

Agent Based Models ( Abm )
Agents Based Models (ABM) A model is a representation of a real system and
thus, it is an abstraction of the reality 4. The word modeling comes from the Latin
word modellus which describes a typical human way of coping with the reality
(Schichl, n.d.). Models can take various forms such as mathematical equation,
drawing, computer code, etc. However, there is a common purpose of all designed
models, which is to simplify the complexity presented in the real system or
problem. Therefore, models usually contain only the main aspects of the real system
(not all details). Macal and North (2006) believe that There is no universal
agreement on the precise definition of the term agent , although definitions tend to
agree on more points than they disagree . It seems very complicated to extract agent
characteristics from the literature in a consistent and constant perspective, because
they are utilised in different ways (Bonabeau 2002). Agent based modelling (ABM)
is able to simulate the individual activities by measuring their behaviour and results
over time for developing models of cities (Crooks 2006). Agent based modeling and
simulation (ABMS) is a new approach to modeling systems comprised of
autonomous, interacting agents. Agent based modeling is a new analytical method
for the social sciences, but one that is quickly becoming popular. ABMS promises to
have far reaching effects on the way that businesses use computers to support
decision making and researchers use
Nationalism And Its Impact On National Identity
Nationalism can be defined in two dimensions. First, the feeling of having a sense of
national identity. This national identity is often confronted with a dilemma as to how
to draw the boundaries of what creates a nation. This pre requisite often comes in the
form of either similarities in origin, ethnicity, culture and willingness to partake in the
membership of a nation. This is contrasted with the concept of states as states such as
the Native American Iroqouis, whom although are a nation have no presiding
political autonomy over themselves.
Second, nationalism is defined as active conscious decisions made by members of a
nation when aiming to maintain their national sovereignty and independence. The
key focus in this definition is sovereignty, and its prerequisites (needing absolute
control over internal and external decisions, otherwise known as full statehood or
quasi statehood) is sufficient. Hence, geographic dominance over a nation s
territorial parameters has been seen as a necessary feature to achieving full statehood
, which inevitably results in nationalistic prerequisites being fulfilled for sovereignty
nationalism. This is contrasted with the first definition of nationalism, based on the
notion of culture and values versus geography. History has itself shown many
examples of socially cohesive nations as well as socially conflicting nations. This
leads to the formation of the debate as to whether nationalism is a source of social
cohesion or of

The Life and Times of Benjamin Bugsy Siegel
Benjamin Bugsy Siegel was a man unlike any other, a man who strove to be better
than what he was, and who grew up with nothing yet died with everything (Carter
179; PBS par. 1; Bugsy Siegel Encyclpaedia par. 3). Unlike many who give up in
life because of the many problems they may face, Bugsy Siegel strove to be better
than his father was (Carter 179). Eventually, Siegel began forcing peddle cart
vendors to give him payments for protection from himself (PBS par. 2; Carter 179).
Thus began Siegel s transformation to a true mafia man running around with Lucky
Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and the Murder Inc. which Siegel himself created
(Southwell 212; PBS par. 4; Carter 180; Bugsy SiegelEncyclopaedia par. 2). Siegel

Luciano asked Siegel to go to L.A. and keep watch over their businesses there
(Bugsy Siegel Encyclopaedia par. 3). It was here that Siegel began to have many
mistresses, including Virginia Hill, even after his wife Estelle Krakower bore him
two girls (Carter 187, 180). While in L.A. Siegel began to dream of a gambling
oasis in the desert. Siegel found the little town of Las Vegas, a town that had a few
small gambling hot spots here and there but not what he wanted. Siegel wanted
bigger. Siegel reached out to many mafia families in hopes that they would aid in
the funding of his dream. In the end, Siegel began to skim the east coast mafias for
money as well as obtain funds from a few of his mistresses (Bugsy Siegel
Encyclopaedia par. 3). In 1945, Siegel s Flamingo Hotel and Casino was completed
(Bugsy Siegel Encyclopaedia par. 3) the project was budgeted to approximately
$1,500,000; however, the end total cost was $6,000,000 (Bugsy Siegel
Encyclopaedia par. 3). At first the Flamingo Hotel and casino was not profitable
which did not sit well with the mafia families that paid for it (Bugsy Siegel,
Organized par. 5). It is obvious that this did not set well with the families and soon
after the opening of the hotel and casino Siegel was murdered (Bugsy Siegel,
Organized par. 5). On June 20, 1947, Bugsy Siegel was shot in his Mistress home
(Bugsy Siegel Encyclopaedia par. 3). Supposedly, Siegel had gotten into an

A Theory Of Careers And Vocational Choice Based Upon...
Holland Codes RIASEC refers to a theory of careers and vocational choice based
upon personality types. Psychologist, John L. Holland, developed the theoretical
framework behind the Holland Codes. Each letter or code stands for a particular
type : Realistic (Doers), Investigative (Thinkers), Artistic (Creators), Social
(Helpers), Enterprising (Persuaders), and Conventional (Organizers). According to
Holland, a three letter code represents a client s overall personality. The test
consists of 48 example tasks that you rate by how much you would enjoy
performing each on a scale of (1) dislike (2) slightly dislike (3) neither like not
dislike (4) slightly enjoy (5) enjoy. The test will take five to ten minutes to
complete. The five personal Style Scales had coefficient alphas that ranged from
.82 to .87 obtained for both the O*NET Interest Profiler and the Interest Finder.
The O*NET Interest Profiler and Interest Finder had very high internal consistency
estimates across all the RIASEC scales. The reliability estimates, ranging from .93
to .96, are very similar across RIASEC scales and interest measures. In Holland s
Theory, consistency refers to the relatedness of types in the obtained code. Pairs of
types next to each other on the Holland Hexagon are more psychologically alike
then pairs father away. If the secondary code is composed of two types next to each
other the code is consistent. This inventory has been professional developed and

Sodium Nitrate Lab Report Solution
To start off, sodium nitrate is considered more soluble than sodium chloride. To start
off the experiment, a test tube is filled with exactly 10 mL of water. With a scooper,
add one scoop of sodium chloride and put a rubber stopper on the top of the test tube.
Shake the test tube until you no longer see substances at the bottom. Repeat the steps
for the sodium chlorideuntil the solution is no longer soluble and there is still some
at the bottom. Before the lab began, the amount of sodium chloride in the container
weighed 70.5 grams. After adding all four scoops of sodium chloride it was not
longer soluble. After adding the four scoops, the container weighed 67.6 grams and
the amount of the sodium chloride that was used was 2.9 grams. Next... Show more

To concluded, the sodium nitrate was more soluble than the sodium chloride because
it took 8.7 grams to saturate the sodium nitrate, while it took only 2.9 grams to
saturate the sodium chloride.
Conclusion: 1.) Are different substances equally soluble in water? Explain.
Different substances are not equally soluble in water because each substance
dissolves differently. For example the sodium nitrate took longer to dissolve than the
sodium chloride because they are different substances. Some substances also may
not dissolve at all in water. Also, substances have all different types of shapes and
sizes, and larger substances may take longer to dissolve than smaller ones.
2.) How could you use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter?
There are many ways that one can use the property of solubility to help identify the
type of matter. One way is to put the matter into water and shake it to see if it is
soluble. Another way is to observe the matter and see the different shapes and colors
that it has. Seeing if it is soluble in water and by observing the colors and shape one
can narrow down what type of matter it is.
3.) What were two likely sources of error for this experiment?
There are many likely sources of error that could have occured while doing this
experiment. One error was that some of the substances were spilled on the table. The
substances were left on the table throughout the experiment and it was never cleaned
up.
The Hero s Journey In Whirligig By Paul Fleischman
In stories, there is always a pattern that they all have in common. This certain
pattern is known as the Hero s Journey. There are varying descriptions of the Hero s
Journey steps but only the steps that are set by the teacher is used. These steps are
the The Call , Allies , Preparation , The Guardians of the Threshold , Crossing the

.This essay is explaining what the Hero s Journey is in the book Whirligig by Paul
Fleischman. The step that is coming up is the Call which is when the hero starts their
journey.
The Call occurs when Mrs. Zamora requests Brent to make the whirligigs in the
corners of the United States. For example, Mrs. Zamora tells ... Show more content on

With this sentence, you can see that Brent only prepared materials to build the
whirligig. This shows that Brent is prepared to go on his journey because he has all
of his necessaries in his luggage for the quest. Also, this shows that Brent still is self
conscious, comparing others to him. Therefore his preparation is done, and he next
needs to cross the Threshold blocking him from starting his quest. There are no
Guardians of the Threshold in this story unless Brent s parents are counted in the first
place. The book stated that Brent s parent raised one objection after another
(Fleischman 41). The Guardians of the Threshold usually prevents the hero from
going on his quest, and this statement shows that Brent s parents are objecting on the
quest. If their objection is fulfilled, Brent wouldn t have gone on the quest at first.
This fits the standards of being the Guardians of the Threshold but nothing is done. In
conclusion, it could be called the Guardians of the Threshold by some.
A main problem in Brent s journey that is a Threshold of sorts is that he s self
conscious. He doesn t believe he has much of a future after his journey and
compares to other people. In the book, it says He was no longer of their kind and
never will be (Fleischman 36). This sentence proves that he feels
Being A Student Of The Jewish Bible And A Disciple
Being a student of the Jewish Bible and a disciple in Jesus day was for the very
few. Boys and girls went to school and began memorizing and studying the Torah
from ages 6 10. By the age of 10, most children would have memorized the entire
Torah the first five books of our Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers,
and Deuteronomy. Imagine!
At 10, formal education ended for girls and many boys. Most children began to
apprentice the family trade or learn how to manage a household. The best students
though continued their education at the next level. During their training, they would
memorize the rest of the Hebrew Scriptures, so they knew Genesis Malachi by heart.
At 15, the best of those best students would continue to the next level of education
while the rest began to learn their family s trade. These best of the best students
would go to a Rabbi and apply to become one of his disciples. And the Rabbi would
choose the best of the best of the best, ones he thought might be able to follow him.
Being a disciple involved more than head knowledge; they sought to become like the
Rabbi. They wanted to do what the Rabbi did.
Only the cream of the crop we might say, the very best of the best of the best were
allowed to become disciples until Jesus.

Stress In University Essay
Stress is known for occurring during the overwhelming times throughout students
university experience. There are three major elements that students face in university
that reinforce each other and lead to stress. These three connected experiences can
lead to them developing a mental illness if the stress becomes long term. Firstly,
when the academic pressure and work load for students rises when they come to
university, they will feel stressed. Secondly, since university is expensive, it may be
very stressful for students to pay for tuition and living costs. Lastly, students who are
starting university will face a lack of family support systems, difficulty finding
friends, and difficulty leaving home which will lead to them feeling stressed. Stress
based on these three factors may have a significant impact on their mental health and
academic success.
Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load on students rises when they come
to university, they will feel stressed as they adjust to the change of scholarly
expectations. Students in university face the challenges of having more assignments
and tougher examinations than in high school, which students may not be prepared
for beforehand. The other academic factors that contribute to higher stress levels are
familial induced pressure to succeed, scholarship requirements, and higher education
requirements (Bedewy and Gabriel). Other factors that also have the highest rate of
academic stress are, course loads, lack of
The Yom Kippur War
The Yom Kippur War also demonstrated that the Arabs could also hurt Israel s
Western allies too (Ross, 1996, p. 47). Arabs states put an embargo on oil to the
United States and Western Europe (Ross, 1996, p.47). There was a new weapon
that could be used to draw the attention of the superpowers to the conflict. Oil had a
devastating effect when its prices were doubled and its production was cut into half
causing world wide economic and political problems (Ross, 1996, p. 67). The United
States began to place pressure on the Israelto make concessions with Arabs
(Blumberg, 1998, p.123).
In 1976, Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered invasions of Arabic nations.
These invasions led to the rescue of several Israeli hostages who were hijacked by
Palestinian terrorists in Entebbe, Uganda (Blumberg, 1998, p.127). The first Arab
leader to visit Israel was Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1977. Sadat joined
Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and United States President Jimmy Carter

recognized Israel s existence. Israel in return would agree to give back the part of
the Sinai Peninsula it still occupied. Sadat and Begin also agreed that there was a
need for independence for Palestinians. This was significant as it was the first time
an Arab country would sign a peace treaty with Israel. The Egyptian Israeli Peace
Treaty was signed in Washington D.C., which was to end thirty years of hostility
NAOBI Resurgency Report
Complete Transparency You all know Billy Sanders. He and I and sometimes work
together as an interpreting team. During our breaks we talk non stop about
programs that we feel would improve our beloved NAOBI DC. I started
documenting our conversations and finally converted the notes into a proposal. Once
the proposal was written I could not remember where his thoughts ended and mine
began that is how in sync our vision had become. I realized that the programs
proposed need to be shared with the members so I gave a speech about change, at the
September NAOBI meeting. That is when I announced that I would be running for
President. After making the announcement Billy volunteered to help me recruit board
members and committee chairs who we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have had conversations with him regarding the structure, the by laws and the
operating procedures of NAOBI DC. Every time I have a conversation with him, I
am impressed with how much he knows about NAOBI and how much he knows
about running an organization and most important how much he loves NAOBI.
One of the characteristics of a good leader is to know your strengths and recognize
your weaknesses. I have mentored interpreters, teachers, chaired committees, and I
am the CEO of SHARAVA, LLC (my interpreting service). I feel that I am capable
of being an effective President for NAOBI. However, I cannot ignore the fact that
Billy Sanders who knows NAOBI inside and outside, and has served 2 terms as the
Vice President of NAOBI, deserves a chance to lead this organization. After,
talking to Billy on many occasions and being exposed to the wealth of knowledge
he has regarding NAOBI, I am convinced that the office of Vice President is the
precursor for the office of President. Since I have not served as the Vice President
of NAOBI, I must acknowledge my weakness. Therefore, I am stepping aside so
that Billy can run for President. I will run as Vice President. We will run on one
ticket. You all will be on our ticket. Please join me in recognizing and supporting
The Man who will be running for the office of President for NAOBI DC, Mr. Billy
Sanders. Applause, applause,

Coconut husks are made of bristle fiber (10%), mattress fiber (20%) and coir dust
and shorts or wastes (70%).
The abundance of fiber nakes it good, stable supply for cottage industries that make
brushes, doormats, carpets, bags, ropes, yarn fishing nets, and mattresses, etc.
Coir fiber can also be used as substitute for jute in making rice, copra, sugar, coffee,
bags and sandbags. It is also suitable for making pulp and paper, etc. For the first
time, the Philippines can export coir fiber to Japan, Germany and the United States
with the proper assistance extended by the government, the industry being new.
The well board is manufactured from coir dust and short fibers. No binding
materials are needed as lignin is inherent in the coconut husk. Also it is termite proof
because creosote is present in the new material. The board produced is as good as
narra, plywood or masonite.
Coir yarn, coir rope, bags, rugs, husk decor, husk polishes, mannequin wig, brush,
coirflex, and fishnets are other products that can be obtained from coco husk. Out of
coir dust can be obtined coco gas, lye insulator, insoflex and plastic materials.

Worldcom Case Study
An Ethical Dilemma at WorldCom:
A case study of Cynthia Cooper
The Scenario
One May afternoon, while sitting in his cubicle at WorldCom Inc. headquarters
located in Clinton, Mississippi, Gene Morse was stunned to find an accounting entry
for $500 million in expenses, which was not accounted for with any invoices. He
immediately reported this entry to his boss, vice president of internal audit Cynthia
Cooper (Pulliam Solomon, 2002). Little did they know at the time that this discovery
would begin a journey for Cooper and her team that would challenge their core
values, ethical beliefs, moral principles, and strain their physical strengths and
personal relationships. They would eventually unearth a $3.8 billion dollar fraud.

GAAP provides objective standards for judging and comparing financial data and
its presentation, and limits the directors freedom in showing an unrealistic picture
through creative accounting. An auditor must certify that the provisions of GAAP
have been followed in reporting an organization s financial data in order for it to
be accepted by its stakeholders which include investors and lenders, as well as tax
authorities (Stanwick Stanwick, 2009). Cooper brought her problem to Arthur
Anderson who refused their cooperation stating they only answered to her boss,
Scott Sullivan. Sullivan also refused to cooperate and even went so far as to track
her down on her personal time to warn her off the investigation. Pulliam and
Solomon (2002, p.A1) write as she pursued the trail of fraud, Ms. Cooper time and
time again was obstructed by fellow employees, some of whom disapproved of
WorldCom s accounting methods but were unwilling to contradict their bosses or
thwart the company s goals.
Cooper s suspicions continued to grow and she became wary of the finance
executives behaviors, when I received an E mail from the controller telling me that I
was wasting my time auditing capital expenditures, it made me uncomfortable (Katz

Regulatory Agencies Vs Independent Agencies
For the first time in recent memory, the Senate Homeland Security and
Governmental Affairs Committee this fall approved several bipartisan regulatory
reform bills, setting the stage for serious consideration of reform in the New Year.
Two of the bills address a key gap in the federal regulatory process by encouraging
independent regulatory agencies that aren t part of the executive branch to conduct
more thorough economic analysis before issuing regulations. Numerous independent
agencies can impose restrictions on prices, entry into markets, disclosures or contract
terms. Yet agencies often conduct little or no economic analysis to identify the need
for, or effects of, restrictions before they re adopted. So agencies can impose massive
mandates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

SAT Vs SAT Testing
Are you planning to take the SAT or ACT soon? The two tests are similar, but some
important differences may make the choice of which to take more difficult. The
good news is that Gables Tutoring in the Coral Gables and Coral Springs, Florida,
area will prepare students for whichever test they choose. Whether opting for the
tutoring center or a private tutor, our staff of experienced educators will bring testees
up to speed through testpreparation or English and math tutoring.
While the old SATfocused on a broad range of content and skills, the new SAT will
focus on in depth analysis of content and evidence. It is basically an aptitude test,
testing reasoning and verbal abilities. The math section, in particular, will be quite
different.
The Influence Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald the great Gatsby has been one of the greatest literary works of
modernism. The tone of this movement was he American literature in the old days
and the present days. F. Scott Fitzgerald sets the great Gatsby in the jazz age to show
the decline in the 1920s, about how wealth does not bring happiness and those with
unrealistic dreams are unsuccessful and dishonestly can ruin relationships.
Through reading the book, it shows how the experience of selfness and World War
1 made the high social hopeful over their lives. It showed how they wanted to
forget the past and build themselves back into their social class. Also by the
experience of Daisy and Jordan treatment from the men in the stories allows the
reader to see how time still hasn t changed how relationships work with men. This
novel is a great novel to give an example on how reality is to people even the high
class. Through the discussion of the passage will show how the path towards the
American Dream can turn into a negative or positive outcome in a person s life
The characters in the great Gatsby all share similar dreams as most of those dreams
does not always come true. Gatsby is a mysterious wealthy young man. Every
Saturday his mansion in West Egg throughs parties. His real name is jay Gatsby. He
was born in North Dakota to a wealthy farming family. While serving in the Army
in World War I, Gatsby met Daisy who he fell in deep love with her. He worked
temporarily for a millionaire who then became
Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry Essay
Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry
Introduction
Each day an estimated 400,000 films exchange hands through the Internet. Movie
piracy, once reserved to pirate syndicates and illegal duplication factories, has become
a common staple among college students with high speed internet access. With
advanced compression technology, movie files can be transferred across continents in
hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. File sharing is seen as a
victimless crime, but the motion picture industry is expected to lose $3.5 billion this
year alone due to piracy. Pirate activities undermine every aspect of the legitimate
filmmaking business since legitimate retailers cannot possibly compete fairly with
pirate business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This carefully planned release of the film to different markets is known as
distribution windows, and is essential to the survival of the film industry. If a film is
pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can
retrieve its initial investment.
Film Releases
There are generally two critical points in a film s distribution window where it can
be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important release for a film is its
theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening
weekend. However, the film can be pirated in two ways. Pirates can use hand held
video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto
other medias. Another method of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a
theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy
from the theatrical print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of
unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US,
but also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the
film s international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film s opening weekend
returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as
through peer to peer networks.
The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. Before DVDs are sold to the
public, production facilities churn out a

Napster Is Taking Over Essay
In today s world, music is a core part of being a college student. You see proof of
this on a daily basis by the thumping bass from your neighbor s room or the
headphones visible from an MP3 player on students while walking to class. But
where are all of these students getting all this music from? Another core part of
being a college student is being continuously broke. With CDs costing upwards of
ten dollars for as little as eight tracks of music, it s commonsense that college
students would make up a large percentage of illegal downloader s. As a result of
the massive use of free peer to peer programs the record industry has suffered
greatly. They are working hard in trying hard to put a stop to it, but they can t do it
alone.

Because of this the RIAA turned to targeting the users downloading the music.
Thousands of cases have been filed against music pirates and in many cases the
criminals are college students such as you or me. In fact, college students are one
of the prime targets of the RIAA but has nailed one of the most prolific file traders
in the U.S., filing a lawsuit against 12 year old Brianna LaHara.
When not at the playground with her friends, Biggie Brianna is trading music files
from her home in New York. The little girl received one of the 261 lawsuits filed by
the RIAA She may look like a sweet and innocent child, but the RIAA says it s only
going after major copyright violators at the moment. So you make the call. Peer to
peer file sharing advocates received a boost in their ongoing battle against music
industry executives when Jupiter Media Metrix released a study indicating that
Internet file sharing traffic volume actually increases music sales.
The research firm found that 34 percent of all peer to peer file sharing users said
they dole out more money for music than before they started swapping tunes online,
although 15 percent of file swappers admitted to purchasing less music.
About 50 percent of respondents said they spend the same amount of money as they
did before they started using such services as Kazaa , Morpheus, Gnutella and
Madster.
In contrast, the study found that only 19 percent of respondents who do not use file

What Is The Nature Of The Woman In The Handmaid s Tale
Once upon a time there was a wealthy yet wise little girl who lived with her parents,
and they no longer had a taste for anything but sweet porridge lately. So the child
went into the forest, and there an old, wicked woman met her. She knew of the old
woman s wickedness, who valued all of their family s riches and her but knew she
couldn t get a chance to put her hand on it or have a child of her own. However, the
little girl and her parents enjoyed the way the wicked old womancooked the porridge.
So the wicked old woman presented her with a little, tainted pot of porridge, which
when she said, Little pot, cook your sweet, but malevolent wonder, and it would cook
good, sweet millet porridge, and when she said, Little pot, stop, it stopped
True Bearings And The Geometric Coordinate System
TRUE BEARINGS AND THE GEOMETRIC COORDINATE SYSTEM
Investigation
Introduction
A true bearing is a mathematical term used to define the point of the angle measured
in degrees, in a clockwise direction, from the north point. A true bearing must always
be written using 3 figures, for example, it is written as 042В° rather than 42В°. True
bearings are used for specific purposes relating to coordinating geography mapping
and navigation.
A geographic coordinate system is properly known as GSC is a 3 dimensional
surface in a figure of the sphere used to outline specific locations on the planet, Earth.
A GSC comprises of different terms such as an angular unit of measure, a datum and
a prime meridian all used to find a specific point. Longitudinal and latitudinal waves
are the angles measured in degrees from the earth s centre to help outline a specific
point on the earth s visible surface.
The midway of the latitudinal line is referenced as the equator whilst the midway of
the longitudinal line is referenced as the prime meridian. The GSC is used to project
a certain point of the earth s surface using latitudinal and longitudinal lines and height
using a datum.
Aim
The aim of this investigation was to develop an understanding of true bearings and
the coordinate geographic system. The use of online mapping tools was needed to
help develop skills.
The result of most questions ended with a degrees sign to represent it was an angle.
The desired points chosen were placed in a

  • 1. Martin Luther Essays Writing an essay on Martin Luther can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The difficulty arises not only from the vast amount of information available on this historical figure but also from the need to critically analyze and synthesize the key aspects of his life, impact, and contributions. Martin Luther was a complex figure who played a pivotal role in the Protestant Reformation, and exploring his ideas, actions, and their consequences requires a nuanced understanding. To begin with, one must delve into Luther's early life, theological developments, and the events leading up to the Ninety-Five Theses. This involves navigating through primary sources and historical records to gain a comprehensive understanding of the context in which Luther lived. Moreover, the essay should address the theological implications of Luther's teachings, such as his emphasis on justification by faith and the priesthood of all believers. The challenge intensifies when exploring Luther's interaction with political and social dynamics of his time. His relationship with the Catholic Church, the ensuing conflicts, and the eventual formation of Protestantism require careful analysis. Additionally, one needs to examine Luther's impact on education, language, and the broader cultural landscape. Furthermore, the essay should not only narrate Luther's story but also critically evaluate his legacy. This involves assessing the long-term consequences of his ideas, both positive and negative, on religious, social, and political dimensions. It requires considering the counterarguments and alternative perspectives, ensuring a well-rounded and unbiased portrayal of Luther's historical significance. In conclusion, writing an essay on Martin Luther demands a meticulous examination of historical records, theological concepts, and the multifaceted impacts of his actions. It requires analytical skills, a deep understanding of the context, and the ability to present a nuanced perspective. While challenging, the process offers an opportunity to engage with a crucial period in history and reflect on the enduring influence of one of its most influential figures. The Catastrophic Impact of Rising Oceans on the Pacific Islands All over the world indigenous communities are faced with an array of new problems, though the public continues to gain insight into the lives of these people they continue to be marginalized in the global arena as well. The Pacific Islands are an entity far removed from the minds of most westerners. The primary focus of any political discourse within the United States places most emphasis on Australia and New Zealand ignoring the smaller less politically salient states. However, it is these smaller islands that will bare the brunt of one huge problem in the future, global warming. For the purpose of this paper I will ignore the polemics of global warming and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only have increased temperatures been noticed on dry land but also in the oceans, which is even more frightening. It is worse because the oceans absorb a lot of the atmospheric heat if it weren t for that the land temperatures would be even higher. And with the polar ice caps receding the mean oceanic sea level is also rising. Speaking strictly in terms of the next hundred years the islands with the lowest altitudes are of greatest concern in regard to swelling oceans. Low lying island states and atolls are especially vulnerable to climate change and associated sea level rise because in many cases much of the terrain rarely exceeds 3 4m above present mean sea level. This is not to say that the other higher islands will escape unscathed from rising sea levels. For them the problem isn t necessarily complete immersion but the alteration of costal zones is of concern. It is in these regions that most of the main settlements are and a majority of the vital economic infrastructures, making them very vulnerable. The ecosystems of the ocean are particularly sensitive to slight but permanent changes in the average surface temperature of the earth. For the people of the Pacific Islands this is crucial connected to their future. First, the coral reefs that are in the shallow waters surrounding many of the pacific islands are incredibly fragile to begin with. The

Elle Woods, worked her way up from nothing more than living as a pretty girl to get into Harvard, in the movie Legally Blonde. While Glinda, of Wicked, used her high social status to remain in power by tromping down others. Glinda the Good is known as the epitome of goodness but she stepped on other to work her way up. Elle Woodshowever, was ambitious and worked hard to better herself and built her way up to prevail as powerful. Both of these women may seem nothing more than beautiful, but they arose above what people thought they could become to ensue as powerful, although in extremely different ways. Glinda s greed left her well liked, but also isolated, depressed and alone, while Elle Woods s ambition gave her a happier future and more successful life. At the beginning of Legally Blonde, Elle Woods loses the man she loves to a different girl, which makes her very upset. Vivian, the girl Elle s ex ended up going out with after Elle and her boyfriend broke up, was extremely mean to Elle, but she didn t let it get the best of her. When asked how her first day continued after meeting Vivian, Elle describes it as, good, except for this horrible preppy girl..who made me look bad in front of the professor. But no biggie (SergeiK). Despite being bullied by Vivian for the remainder of the movie, Elle chooses to put their differences aside in the end and try to comfort
  • 5. The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense perception post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that deathis the end of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124 125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in support of him claiming the fearof death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in the privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of our existence. In this essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based on my interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given that one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being dead. Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view

A series of characters are introduced such as Lady Macbeth, King Duncan, Banquo, Macduff and many others throughout the play. As many introductions of characters are put in place, the plot of the story changes from time to time. The three most important events that occur in Macbethare the prophecies that the witches tell Macbeth and Banquo (1.3.50 53), the death of King Duncan (2.2.19) and the death of Macbeth (5.8.32 40). Macbeth goes along with the plan of murdering Duncan. Lady Macbeth had made a plan of getting the servants drunk enough to forget what has happened that night and blame the death of Duncan on them. In addition, Lady Macbeth had influenced Macbeth to continue with the plan when she questioned his manhood, and calls him a coward. • 13. The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to predict what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to answer are: What is the current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? What is the minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? An accurate data set of water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as there have been no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. For example when the banana was placed into the water, it was shaken. When it was shaken, the banana fragments were mixed with the water more, but after the shaking, the banana fragments clumped together and floated to the bottom. Because the flasks could only be shaken two at a time (one for each hand on a single person), they were not all shaken at the same time. Therefore, some flasks were strained into water after a shorter period of time than others. Well documented and implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and reliability of any software application. V.OUR CONTRIBUTION The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when deploying or using any open source software. A.Notification Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting issue with Open Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack of awareness about the security update. All the security patches to the application are pushed to consumers through such updates. Many people don t see and think about the consequences that can occur in this situation. More and more companies are implementing new strategies, for instance, signing a pledge not to use the phone while on the road, and these new changes are adding more responsible drivers. As a result of states becoming more interconnected, most of them have opted for regional integration so as to enhance trade between states thus boosting economies of the states as well as the regions as a whole. Besides free trade, regional integration has seen to it the elimination of trade barriers, free movement of goods and people across borders, regional co operation in issues to do with peace and security within the regions among various other benefits of regional integration. • 24. Agent Based Models ( Abm ) Agents Based Models (ABM) A model is a representation of a real system and thus, it is an abstraction of the reality 4. The word modeling comes from the Latin word modellus which describes a typical human way of coping with the reality (Schichl, n.d.). Models can take various forms such as mathematical equation, drawing, computer code, etc. However, there is a common purpose of all designed models, which is to simplify the complexity presented in the real system or problem. Therefore, models usually contain only the main aspects of the real system (not all details). Macal and North (2006) believe that There is no universal agreement on the precise definition of the term agent , although definitions tend to agree on more points than they disagree . It seems very complicated to extract agent characteristics from the literature in a consistent and constant perspective, because they are utilised in different ways (Bonabeau 2002). Agent based modelling (ABM) is able to simulate the individual activities by measuring their behaviour and results over time for developing models of cities (Crooks 2006). Agent based modeling and simulation (ABMS) is a new approach to modeling systems comprised of autonomous, interacting agents. Agent based modeling is a new analytical method for the social sciences, but one that is quickly becoming popular. ABMS promises to have far reaching effects on the way that businesses use computers to support decision making and researchers use
  • 25. Nationalism And Its Impact On National Identity Nationalism can be defined in two dimensions. First, the feeling of having a sense of national identity. This national identity is often confronted with a dilemma as to how to draw the boundaries of what creates a nation. This pre requisite often comes in the form of either similarities in origin, ethnicity, culture and willingness to partake in the membership of a nation. This is contrasted with the concept of states as states such as the Native American Iroqouis, whom although are a nation have no presiding political autonomy over themselves. Second, nationalism is defined as active conscious decisions made by members of a nation when aiming to maintain their national sovereignty and independence. The key focus in this definition is sovereignty, and its prerequisites (needing absolute control over internal and external decisions, otherwise known as full statehood or quasi statehood) is sufficient. Hence, geographic dominance over a nation s territorial parameters has been seen as a necessary feature to achieving full statehood , which inevitably results in nationalistic prerequisites being fulfilled for sovereignty nationalism. This is contrasted with the first definition of nationalism, based on the notion of culture and values versus geography. History has itself shown many examples of socially cohesive nations as well as socially conflicting nations. This leads to the formation of the debate as to whether nationalism is a source of social cohesion or of

Holland, developed the theoretical framework behind the Holland Codes. Each letter or code stands for a particular type : Realistic (Doers), Investigative (Thinkers), Artistic (Creators), Social (Helpers), Enterprising (Persuaders), and Conventional (Organizers). According to Holland, a three letter code represents a client s overall personality. The test consists of 48 example tasks that you rate by how much you would enjoy performing each on a scale of (1) dislike (2) slightly dislike (3) neither like not dislike (4) slightly enjoy (5) enjoy. The test will take five to ten minutes to complete. The five personal Style Scales had coefficient alphas that ranged from .82 to .87 obtained for both the O*NET Interest Profiler and the Interest Finder. The O*NET Interest Profiler and Interest Finder had very high internal consistency estimates across all the RIASEC scales. Conclusion: 1.) Are different substances equally soluble in water? Explain. Different substances are not equally soluble in water because each substance dissolves differently. For example the sodium nitrate took longer to dissolve than the sodium chloride because they are different substances. Some substances also may not dissolve at all in water. Also, substances have all different types of shapes and sizes, and larger substances may take longer to dissolve than smaller ones. 2.) How could you use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter? There are many ways that one can use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter. One way is to put the matter into water and shake it to see if it is soluble. Another way is to observe the matter and see the different shapes and colors that it has. Seeing if it is soluble in water and by observing the colors and shape one can narrow down what type of matter it is. 3.) What were two likely sources of error for this experiment? There are many likely sources of error that could have occured while doing this experiment. One error was that some of the substances were spilled on the table. The substances were left on the table throughout the experiment and it was never cleaned up.

There are no Guardians of the Threshold in this story unless Brent s parents are counted in the first place. The book stated that Brent s parent raised one objection after another (Fleischman 41). • 36. Being A Student Of The Jewish Bible And A Disciple Being a student of the Jewish Bible and a disciple in Jesus day was for the very few. Boys and girls went to school and began memorizing and studying the Torah from ages 6 10. By the age of 10, most children would have memorized the entire Torah the first five books of our Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Imagine! At 10, formal education ended for girls and many boys. Most children began to apprentice the family trade or learn how to manage a household. The best students though continued their education at the next level. During their training, they would memorize the rest of the Hebrew Scriptures, so they knew Genesis Malachi by heart. At 15, the best of those best students would continue to the next level of education while the rest began to learn their family s trade. These best of the best students would go to a Rabbi and apply to become one of his disciples. And the Rabbi would choose the best of the best of the best, ones he thought might be able to follow him. Being a disciple involved more than head knowledge; they sought to become like the Rabbi. They wanted to do what the Rabbi did. Only the cream of the crop we might say, the very best of the best of the best were allowed to become disciples until Jesus. Today our Gospel in Disney sermon series is a movie that doesn t quite fit the Disney mold. In most Disney movies, the heroes are clearly good even if their circumstances are poor, and the villains are clearly
  • 37. Stress In University Essay Stress is known for occurring during the overwhelming times throughout students university experience. There are three major elements that students face in university that reinforce each other and lead to stress. These three connected experiences can lead to them developing a mental illness if the stress becomes long term. Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load for students rises when they come to university, they will feel stressed. Secondly, since university is expensive, it may be very stressful for students to pay for tuition and living costs. Lastly, students who are starting university will face a lack of family support systems, difficulty finding friends, and difficulty leaving home which will lead to them feeling stressed. Stress based on these three factors may have a significant impact on their mental health and academic success. Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load on students rises when they come to university, they will feel stressed as they adjust to the change of scholarly expectations. Students in university face the challenges of having more assignments and tougher examinations than in high school, which students may not be prepared for beforehand. The other academic factors that contribute to higher stress levels are familial induced pressure to succeed, scholarship requirements, and higher education requirements (Bedewy and Gabriel). Other factors that also have the highest rate of academic stress are, course loads, lack of

Arabs states put an embargo on oil to the United States and Western Europe (Ross, 1996, p.47). There was a new weapon that could be used to draw the attention of the superpowers to the conflict. Oil had a devastating effect when its prices were doubled and its production was cut into half causing world wide economic and political problems (Ross, 1996, p. 67). The United States began to place pressure on the Israelto make concessions with Arabs (Blumberg, 1998, p.123). In 1976, Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered invasions of Arabic nations. These invasions led to the rescue of several Israeli hostages who were hijacked by Palestinian terrorists in Entebbe, Uganda (Blumberg, 1998, p.127). The first Arab leader to visit Israel was Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1977. Sadat joined Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and United States President Jimmy Carter in 1978 to sign the Camp David Accords. Under the Camp David Accords Egypt recognized Israel s existence. Israel in return would agree to give back the part of the Sinai Peninsula it still occupied. Sadat and Begin also agreed that there was a need for independence for Palestinians. This was significant as it was the first time an Arab country would sign a peace treaty with Israel. The Egyptian Israeli Peace Treaty was signed in Washington D.C., which was to end thirty years of hostility

One of the characteristics of a good leader is to know your strengths and recognize your weaknesses. I have mentored interpreters, teachers, chaired committees, and I am the CEO of SHARAVA, LLC (my interpreting service). I feel that I am capable of being an effective President for NAOBI. However, I cannot ignore the fact that Billy Sanders who knows NAOBI inside and outside, and has served 2 terms as the Vice President of NAOBI, deserves a chance to lead this organization. After, talking to Billy on many occasions and being exposed to the wealth of knowledge he has regarding NAOBI, I am convinced that the office of Vice President is the precursor for the office of President. Since I have not served as the Vice President of NAOBI, I must acknowledge my weakness. Therefore, I am stepping aside so that Billy can run for President. I will run as Vice President. We will run on one ticket. You all will be on our ticket. Please join me in recognizing and supporting The Man who will be running for the office of President for NAOBI DC, Mr. Billy Sanders. Movie piracy, once reserved to pirate syndicates and illegal duplication factories, has become a common staple among college students with high speed internet access. With advanced compression technology, movie files can be transferred across continents in hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. File sharing is seen as a victimless crime, but the motion picture industry is expected to lose $3.5 billion this year alone due to piracy. If a film is pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can retrieve its initial investment. Film Releases There are generally two critical points in a film s distribution window where it can be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important release for a film is its theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening weekend. However, the film can be pirated in two ways. Pirates can use hand held video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto other medias. Another method of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy from the theatrical print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US, but also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the film s international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film s opening weekend returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as through peer to peer networks. The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. Before DVDs are sold to the public, production facilities churn out a

True Bearings And The Geometric Coordinate System TRUE BEARINGS AND THE GEOMETRIC COORDINATE SYSTEM Investigation Introduction A true bearing is a mathematical term used to define the point of the angle measured in degrees, in a clockwise direction, from the north point. A true bearing must always be written using 3 figures, for example, it is written as 042В° rather than 42В°. True bearings are used for specific purposes relating to coordinating geography mapping and navigation. A geographic coordinate system is properly known as GSC is a 3 dimensional surface in a figure of the sphere used to outline specific locations on the planet, Earth. A GSC comprises of different terms such as an angular unit of measure, a datum and a prime meridian all used to find a specific point. Longitudinal and latitudinal waves are the angles measured in degrees from the earth s centre to help outline a specific point on the earth s visible surface. The midway of the latitudinal line is referenced as the equator whilst the midway of the longitudinal line is referenced as the prime meridian.
