A Brief Note On The First Great Awakening
Woman Suffrage Denied How a changing environment can change people s perception in love, life,
and service to God and mankind. How several women with strong beliefs and approaches to equal
opportunity created separation amongst the people. Examining the different rolls women participated
in to influence change in America. The Second Great Awakening of the 1790 s, brought change to the
New World. inspired by the economic progress and democratic spirit of the age and by the religious
optimism of the Second Great Awakening, believed that they could improve their personal lives and
society as a whole (Henretta et al, America 321). The Second Great Awakening created an
environment in which denominations came together in cooperation. Religious leaders began to
establish societies, which ministered to the nation (Henretta et al, America 252). Everyone
participating in these societies together, began to serve a larger religious purpose, uniting
communities. The Second Great Awakening prompted women to demonstrate their piety and even to
found new sects (Henretta et al, America 253). Pioneered by Mother Ann Lee, the Shakers was created
in Britain. In 1774, the all women group The Shakers moved to America. By 1820, the women group
increased in numbers. Living and operating within a male dominate environment, where gender
segregated prayer meetings still took place the women group wanted change. Since the majority of the
church worshipers were women it prompted

A Rumor Of War By Philip Caputo And Young
The Vietnam War was largely considered a failure, a waste of resources, time and precious lives. It
was simply a war that did not need to be fought. But in order to combat the ever prevailing communist
forces; the capitalists and in particular, America, decided that Vietnam would be the land where these
differences would be disputed. Men were sent in to fight in this war and they came back with very
different experiences. As seen in both perspectives held in A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo and in
We were soldiers once... and young by Hal Moore and Joseph Galloway; they explore the varying
perspectives and experienced seen and learnt within war. Whereas in A Rumor of War , it tackles the
consequences of being sent into such harsh warfare, only because Philip Caputo saw the harsh reality
firsthand as he was a soldier in the war. The former, We were soldiers once... and young tackles the
glorification of war because it s not solely a soldier s account. A journalist was in company of these
men and as such details get skewed for the public s perception. Regardless, both these books share a
telling tale of the war in Vietnam through their radically different views.
Firstly, it is important to establish the historical contexts of these two books. A Rumor of War was
published in 1977, two years after the end of the Vietnam War. It was written by a soldier who served
in the war. The period this describes is immediately the post war era and the fallout faced by soldiers

Weighted Cost of Capital: Home Depot, Inc.

While the relative debt and equity values can be easily determined, calculating the costs of debt and
equity can be problematic. In calculating each component, we are given many different options and
proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital
mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take
into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem
with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult
to maintain (Borad, 2012).
Conclusion
Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. To tackle
this issue, WACC is one of the most widely used formulas even though the process is difficult, and
results seem ambiguous. However, it is clear that WACC is the average cost of capital the firm must
pay, in this case Home Depot (HD), to all its investors, both debt and equity holders. Since HD has
debt to the tune of $29.6 billion (2012), it means that rwacc is an average of its debt and equity cost of
capital. Based on the limiting factors revealed on the page 5, our confidence level in HD s WACC is
moderate. Nevertheless, since HD s WACC is 5.97% it means that the company should only invest in

The Beach Carrier Case
Jay Eskew ECE 301 Summer 07/18/2015 Case 7: The Beach Carrier Questions for Discussion 1. What
is the nature of the product? What are its strengths and weaknesses? The Beach Carrier is a new type
of beach bag that is designed to assist the user in carrying everything they needed to go to the beach. It
s easy storage is its main advantage, as it can fold up for easy storage. The Beach Carrier has many
strengths and weaknesses; however, it seems to offer more strengths. Strengths The bags ability to fold

How can Ricci protect her product design? 4. What are the pros and cons of the mail ordering market
strategy? What are the pros and cons of alternative distribution methods? The biggest benefit that the
mail order marketing strategy will yield to Ricci is that she gets to choose when and where the Beach
Carrier is offered for sale. With this feature she can choose who distributes her product as well. The
next big pro for the mail order strategy is that she will receive immediate feedback on the
effectiveness of the system. If after the first wave goes out there is a lag in sales, she may need to
think of a new method to market/sell her product. A major disadvantage to the mail order system is
that oftentimes a small picture in a catalog is not an effective representation of the product itself and
could turn people off to potentially purchasing the Beach Carrier. Another con to this system is that
Ricci may not be reaching enough of the target consumers through her system. Her target
demographic, women, would not necessarily be reached by a Boating magazine. Also, advertising
through a magazine is a very ineffective way to reach a large market because it is very unlikely that
many potential customers are subscribed to that

Pornography Abuse And Violence Against Women
There are obvious problems with society today regarding the presence of sexual violence and rape.
The cause of these crimes is difficult to isolate, as it is also difficult material for researchers to
complete studies on. We need a better definition of abuse, and it needs to be stated that the intelligence
and mental instability can affect a man s actions. There can be a place in relationships for pornography
as well, where women are consenting and desire to explore different material, not necessarily being
dehumanized. While Fight the New Drug and Samantha Grey, the author of, A Letter to Men: Porn is
Not Just Women s Problem, both present claims that pornography consumption leads to violence
against women, and plea for society to reject pornography, there are unanswered questions and
overlooked aspects that leave their argument unconvincing. A guideline of what defines abuse and
violence needs to be established to properly examine pornography material. The texts presented high
percentages of violence existing in the pornography films that were used to formulate data. However,
there are no specifics regarding what violence is. Did the standards include elements of dirty talk,
kink, spanking, or BDSM? Fight the New Drug states that In other words, in porn, people are getting
beaten up and they re smiling about it. There is a significant difference in a woman being exposed to
potentially arousing scenarios that affect our sympathetic nervous system such as restraint

Examples Of Hybridity In The Bluest Eye
In the last season summer , Pecola becomes pregnant. Claudia and Frieda want Pecola s baby to live in
order to validate their own blackness and to oppose the universal love for white baby dolls. The anger
reaches Pecola to madness because Pauline also does not believe that Pecola is an innocent sinister of
Cholly s drunken rape. Pecola s schism has created an imaginary friend for her because she has no real
friend. Her imaginary friend represents an escape from reality as the researcher thinks. The researcher

Her lunacy is not an escape from the idealized forms of white life, in her insanity, she feels most fully
the force of white constructions of beauty, even as the normal flow of human interaction and language
cease to have meaning for her. Morrison uses painful irony to remind people that Pecola s madness is
a fault of her society. Morrison is influenced by hybridity in her novel The Bluest Eye . Hybridity
refers to any mixing of western and eastern culture , it most commonly refers to colonial subjects from
Africa and Asia who have found the balance between eastern and western cultural attributes.
According to Homi Bhabha, the third place is the place for multicultural communities where injustice
and oppression are executed. Morrison proves that third place is a far place and no one can reach to
this place easily. She also proves that Pecola reaches to madness and could not reach to third place. In
addition to, Morrison is influenced by the idea of other and orientalism, otherness which is an
approach that divides the world into two binary opposites as white versus black or modern versus
traditional. Morrison manages to apply the four elements that involved the creation stereotyping which
are generalization, essentialization, oversimplification, and repetition. Morrison succeeded in showing
the fixed image for pecola s family that claims to reflect their reality without necessarily truly doing so

Essay on Monumental Changes Across the Globe in History
Monumental Changes across the Globe in History
Since the beginning of time, all sorts of changes have occurred throughout the world. Changes in
nature, in people, in cities, in countries, wars, politics, kingdoms, etc. Three significant major changes
in history that occurred before 1500, that shaped the world were: the Neo Lithic Revolution,
Alexander the Great s conquests, and the travels of Marco Polo.
Firstly, the Neolithic Revolution is a great place to start in History because that is when the first major
shift of among people s way of life throughout the whole world occurs. It occurred approximately
10,000 years ago. Many hunter gatherers turned into farmers because they saw it was a good ... Show

Darius, previously outwitted, tried a new, desperate strategy of trying to defeat Alexander, simply with
as many men as he could gather. Unfortunately for Darius, the Hoplite Phalanx formation tore through
his formations and made their way to him, so he fled the scene. Alexander and his Guard chased him
in hot pursuit. After killing him, he claimed Darius made him successor to the Persian throne. Also
known as Alexander s greatest victory because this victory made him the Persian King of Kings, he
had overthrown the known world s greatest and most threatening empires (Persia), and had access to
more troops and the land s resources to continue his campaign. This was the key victory that allowed
Alexander to be virtually unstoppable and helped him further his campaign of conquering the known
world! After taking over Persia, that opened up the pathway for many other territories that he
eventually conquered, including: Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Judea, Gaza, Egypt, Bactria, and
Mesopotamia. He lastly challenged Punjab, India, only to turn back from lack of support/enthusiasm
from his troops. Major keys to Alexander s success were: his sheer daring, dogged determination, and
because he did the unexpected (such as not waiting a day to start a battle, but attacking the Persians
immediately, so they were caught off guard), the extreme loyalty/experience of his troops, and the
strong military formation of the Hoplite Phalanx. After the known world was

Gender Roles And Sexuality In Plato s Symposium
Gender Roles and Sexuality of Classic Greek Society Throughout Plato s classical dialogue The
Symposium, the main topic of choice is that of love, this ranges from sexual love to ideological love.
Each character give their own take on what is love; some focus on the objects of love, others the ideals
that it represents. Plato uses each and every speaker to further a dialogue of love, relationships, as well
as sexuality within the Athenian culture. Each person adds ideas as well as ideals in order to piece
together a greater picture of the virtues of love within greek society. Within The Symposium, all of the
guests were men, leading to focused discussions on male to male sexuality and perspectives of
physical love. However, Plato uses Socrates as a mouth for Diotima, a woman, in order to give the
most profound talk on the ideals of love. This is to contrast the talk of love that mostly concerns
physical love and homosexuality, Diotima s speaks of true love that can apply to all forms rather than
limiting it to physical, her philosophy on the virtues of love, sex and sexuality go beyond that of every
other speaker, developing the truth that Plato seeks to share about the love and sexuality within greek
culture, which is that upon the purest emotion of love, that nothing else matters but the loving itself. ...

The realms of philosophy and wisdom were that of men, women were left within the house in order to
rear children as well as her husband. Beyond this hierarchical order there were slaves and servants
who also submitted to the free men.(Rhan, Gender Relations and Sexual Behavior in Ancient Greece )
This stagnation of people lead to the specialization of work, where only free men would be able to
pursue the love of wisdom, leading to a constructive role of wisdom rather than an essential one.

Compare And Contrast Athens And Ancient Greece
Classical Greece The early development of Greek society was influenced by many societies such as
the Egyptians, Phoenicians, and Minoans. For instance, the earliest Greek writing style which was
called Linear B was influenced by the Minoan writing style called Linear A. Furthermore, the Greeks
not only adopted the Minoans writing style but they also used the ship building and agricultural
techniques used by the Egyptians and the Phoenicians. Despite their similarities, the Greeks had their
characteristics that distinguished them from the rest. The Greeks were never unified but they did
create one of the world s most remarkable cultural eras. The most important city states of Ancient
Greece was Sparta and Athens. Both of these city states shared similar characteristics such as both
would remain the foundation for the Greek political world. Both Athens and Sparta had a similar
government system. Their members were elected by the people. Athens is said to be the of democracy.
Athenians were educated(except girls) but they never knew much about brute force, unlike the
Spartans. The Spartans changed their society to remove all social distinction and became the greatest
soldiers in Greece. Even girls were trained to become soldiers because for the Spartans there is no
such thing as inequality; women can do the job of mem. However, in Athens, girls did not receive an
education like the boys in Athen did but, instead, were expected to become housewives. The Greeks

A Proposal For A New Factory
Introduction Longchamp is a French firm created in Paris in 1948, known for its luxury fashion leather
and canvas goods, such as handbags and luggage. Thanks to its expertise, Longchamp is distributed in
more than 275 stores worldwide. We would like to expand our production; therefore we chose to open
a new factory in Romania. In this report, we will explain the reasons why we made this decision. 1)
Tax costs Regarding tax costs, Romania is as a highly taxed country, just like France. Indeed, income
and capital gains earned by corporation are taxed at a rate of 16%. More specifically, these data clearly
demonstrate that Romania has payments percentage and profit taxes higher than France. Even if
Romania is more taxed than France regarding corporate and income taxes, it is the opposite scheme
for labor taxes and contributions. This inversion is due to low labor costs. Certainly high tax costs can
be a constraint to produce in this country but we choose Romania for other reasons like the low labor
cost and the proximity with our primary market, France. 2) Legal environment Thanks to the
accession to the EU and the increasing integration in European markets, Romania s structural reform
has progressed. Romania s reform and liberalization process created large foreign exchange inflows
and a positive view of Romania s prospects. However, the judicial power is not entirely independent.
It is very influenced by the executive

One thing that a majority of Americans do not realize is that each state has their own constitution that

Abstract
This paper will examine five emerging trends associated with the future of higher education. Within
the United States higher education has become commercialized. Obtaining a college degree has been
marketed as a necessity for anyone seeking a successful future. The increased demand results in
increased costs, both for the institution and the student. University administrators recognize the

The third category includes private for profit institutions that offer predominately on line course
instruction. No matter what category the institution falls under, various trends are impacting higher
education and threaten to redefine the traditional mission. What follows is a discussion of five such
trends and an examination of the potential impact upon students, faculty, staff, parents and the
institutions.
The Cost of Higher Education The cost of higher education is on the rise. Within the United States,
nearly every state has reduced funding to higher education. As a result, institutions are challenged with
replacing the lost revenue and in most cases this is accomplished by increasing tuition. In addition the
cost of benefits for faculty and staff is increasing. Dew (2012) found that as health care costs increase
and both private and state sponsored pension funds decrease, institutions are increasingly dipping into
their own revenues to support benefit packages. In another effort to reduce costs, universities continue
to reduce the number of full time faculty and replace them with adjunct faculty and graduate assistants
both of which are exempt from benefits. As tenured faculty members retire, universities elect to fill the
position with part time faculty in lieu of high salaried tenured professors. Increased costs have a
cascading effect on other initiatives as well. State budget cuts threaten research universities by
reducing the funds

Truly Experience The Pantheon Of Ancient Rome
Truly Experience the Pantheon The Pantheon happens to be the best preserved building from the times
of Ancient Rome. Its large dome is an everlasting testimony to the architectural genius of the Romans
and the building still remains basically in tact and offers a unique opportunity for many visitors to
journey back in time to 2,000 years ago and experience the Roman glory. Atmosphere and Interior As
you make your way towards the bronze doors, and walk under the rectilinear porch, the height and
width of the building will fill your vision completely. You have plenty of room to move around and
how you see in this area. The rotunda happens to be one of the most remarkable features that the
Pantheon has, it was the biggest domed structure until 1912. The interior of the Pantheon is more
dramatic and stunning in comparison to its exterior. When you walk inside, you are bombarded with
various colours of light that reflect off of a variety of surfaces. The alcove that is just opposite the
door, is the most impressive and it touches the ceiling. It has decorative cornice and red porphyry
frieze as well as being flanked by Corinthian marble columns in a Phyrgian purple. Each of the
alcoves will have two columns in either Numidian yellow or Phyrgian purple. Each of the alcoves also
have three small areas for statues that is surrounded by seven other windows that are located on the
rotunda walls. Due to the use of concrete, the idea was that the architecture would be able to be a

I didn t know what I wanted to be at the time, but the medical field sparked my interest. I went up
there, and I met a woman by the name of Pam who worked as an occupational therapist at a nursing
home. She showed me around and introduced me to her patients. I love everything about her work.
She would show simple tasks, such as cooking an egg, to her patients and helped them try to master it.
Pam even showed them how to sit in the toilet seat by themselves. I observed and even helped her
sometimes, and I loved the feeling of helping them get a step closer to living independently. Recently,
I talked to the occupational therapist in the school at De Queen, and she told me that she has 32 kids
that have Down syndrome or have some sort of disability problem. Her name is Kim, and she sees
them twice a week for 30 minutes. She helps them recover or develop fine motor skills, visual and
social participation skills, and problem solving skills. According to Kim, she states that occupational
therapy and OTA is a career in which you help a person try to become independent in doing daily

this was the career I wanted, and I was glad that UA Cossatot offered it. An occupational therapy

Berlin Crisis Research Paper
The Berlin crisis started in February 1948 when the Western allies held the London conference to
discuss how to jumpstart the German economy after two years of disagreeing with the Soviets. The
Western allies wanted to implement a free market economy which all of their nations had and felt was
the best option while the Soviet Union wanted to convert Germany to a planned communist economy.
Because the London conference went against the regulations as laid out during the Potsdam
Agreement, the Soviet Union s protest was quick and they withdrew from the Allied Control Council
(ACC). In June of 1948, the Western allies introduced a new currency to the American, British, and
French zones called the Deutsche mark without consulting the Soviets. This is considered the last
straw, and the Soviet Union announces their plans to introduce a new currency in their zone and
subsequently block off Berlin before the Western allies can implement their currency. However, the
west had already smuggled in around 250 million Deutsche marks to West Berlin without the Soviet
Union finding out. The Berlin blockade consisted of no land or water access to the city, which made it
inaccessible from the ground but it was still accessible from the air. The US government decided to

What It Means To Wood Privacy Fence
Wood privacy fences are an important component of a house especially one in the urban community. A
well chosen and appropriately designed fence affords homeowners the pleasure of enjoying their
private space without necessarily giving the impression of being an unfriendly neighbor. You don t
even have to fence the entire perimeter of the house. In some cases, even just short sections of fencing
in your property can already give you a semblance of solitude and discourage curious onlookers.
Keeping in mind the style and landscaping design of one s area, there are many fencing options to
choose from. Wood privacy fences make for some of the best privacy fences and come in a variety of
styles and materials. Vinyl fencing is also a suitable and cheaper alternative, or you can opt for a more
natural look with the use of greens shrubs and trees.

If you want immediate results and don t want to be bothered with maintaining your fences, then
hardscape fences or the traditional privacy fences are clearly the best option for you. The project is
easy enough to do and the fence sections are light enough such that the average homeowner can do the
job himself. An essential factor to consider when doing the work yourself is if the fence that you put

The overall message of this essay is that baby names start with the high income families and work
their way through society to the low income families because parents want their kids to be successful.
For example, the article states Once a name catches on among high income, highly educated parents, it
starts working its way down the socioeconomic ladder. Kids names in successful high income families
become popular because lower income families think naming their baby after what successful families
are naming their children will make them similarly successful. Furthermore the essay asserts They are
all trying to signal something with a name, and an overwhelming number of parents are seemingly
trying to signal their own expectations of how successful they hope their children will be. The name
itself isn t likely to make a shred of difference. But the parents may feel better knowing that, from the
very onset, they tried their best. The message of this article is that parents hope by giving their kids
successful sounding names they will have a better chance in life. This results in names trending from

Analysis Of Matthew 22 s The Kingdom Of Heaven
Why do you suppose Jesus mentions what this man was wearing? Listen to me, everything that Jesus
says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is
a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty
straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember
at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused
to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation
to everyone to attend the marriage of his son.
The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same
as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man
had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was
a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I
heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of
mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice
and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And
to her it was granted to be

Examples Of Situational Irony In The Ransom Of The Red Chief
In O. Henry s story, The Ransom of the Red Chief, eight distinct examples of irony are present
throughout the entire selection. O. Henry writes with both situational and verbal irony, which results
in a comedic account of a rowdy boy s kidnapping. Situational irony involves an event in which
actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended. Verbal irony is when the intended
meaning of a statement differs from the meaning that the words appear to express. There are three
examples of verbal irony and five examples of situational irony in The Ransom of the Red Chief. The
first example of verbal irony is in the beginning of the story. There was a town down there, as flat as a
flannel cake, and called Summit, of course. The irony is that a town that was flat was named Summit,
which would have the reader think the town was high. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

away the tender lambkin from the fold. Heaven help the wolves! says I, and I went down the mountain

Literature Review On HIV
Literature review The emergence of drug resistant strains of human immunodeficiency virus( HIV)
and treatment failure can result from non adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). (Michel
Morin;2000) Non adherences to medication is widespread among patients (Margaret A. Chesney;
2000).An estimated average rate of patient that non adhere to the antiretroviral (ARV) treatment
therapy ranges from about 50 70%( Margaret A. Chesney; 2000) HIV becomes drug resistance when
the ARV treatments are not adhered to. Once the patient has taken their antiretroviral (ARVs)
medication then stops the HIV is able to replicate and will do so at a rapid rate. As a result mutations
are very common (Jen Gorgan and Ruth Suter;2009) There can be one or more mutations that might
block the working of the ARVS making them less effected or even completely ineffective. i.e. the
virus will become resistant to any of the drugs and multiply. (Jen Gorgan and Ruth Suter;2009) There
are many factors as to why patients do not adhere to their ARV treatment. The main factors for non
adherence would appear to be patient related, this would include patients that are alcohol and
substance abusers. However there are many other reasons, that could contribute, such as inconvenient
dosing frequency, dietary restrictions, pill burden, side effects, area which the patient is located and
patient health care provider relationships; and the system of care (Margaret A. Chesney; 2000) this
factors/reasons mentioned above can be improved by clarifying treatment plans and perhaps be able to
work around the patient schedule or lifestyle also the patient and their loved ones should be educated
in order to understand the risks and for the to create a financial plan. Medical centers/clinics should
also have support groups for the patients and should distribute pamphlets (like the ones that have
added been provided by ICAS) There are HIV related stigmas and discriminations that refer to the
prejudice, abuse and negativity that is shown towards people living HIV and aids.in many countries

The Origin And Significance Of Diversity Within The...
Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a
named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your choice.
Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and can
be traced to some sort of genetically altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation,
inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of diversity within
the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species.
Origin of diversity within species
Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the species
decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity affected
the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they considered 112
individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship: with a reduced
heterozygosity, the production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). It is
important to note; this relationship was found amongst individuals not entire populations (Slate and
Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause inbreeding depression for the
data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). Figure 1 Relationship between the proportion of abnormal sperm
and meant heterozygosity. Graph taken from Slate and Pemberton, 2006. Graph A shows the

For over forty years, the Aegis weapon system has been the main form of defense for the U.S. Navy s
surface ship fleet. Created by Lockheed Martin, this defense system has separated itself from any
other since being created in 1983. In a world where defensive threats can come in many forms the
Aegis system has adjusted and overcome all possible threats truly making it the most elite and
necessary onboard ship system to have. With the use of SPY 1 radar, the Aegis display system, the
weapons control system, and the command and decision system, Aegis is able to attack land targets,
submarines, and surface ships simultaneously making it the most dominant system for the US Navy to

This radar is the primary system used for air and surface defense. How SPY 1 works is that a
mechanically rotating radar sends signals or beams outboard from the ship to pick up all targets
(Lockheed Martin). Once the radar receives return signals, the SPY 1 must use a different tracking
radar by sending out signals of electromagnetic energy to track and determine what the target is as
well as possible threat capabilities. Another reason why SPY 1 is the spear head for US Navy radar
systems is its ability to track over one hundred targets at a time. Some strengths of the SPY 1 that
other radar do not have is it s fast reaction and ability to detect and send a missile in less than ten
seconds, fast transition from SPY 1 silent to full radiate, and its large field of fire with minimal
blockage zones (AN/SPY 1, 2000). The most important advantage of the SPY 1 is its ability to be
linked with the Aegis system and how they work together to create one multi functional defense
system. SPY 1 is able to track targets while surveying the area as well as update the command and
decision system used by Aegis to engage targets if

Child Abuse and it s Role in Bastard Out of Carolina by...
While reading the semi autobiographical, Bastard Out of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison, I was stunned
by the explicit nature of the novel. We were introduced to a young narrator and protagonist named,
Ruth Anne Bone Boatwright. Bone s family, like that of the author, experienced a impoverished life,
all the while she tried to find her place in a society that had literally labeled her illegitimate. Merriam
Webster defines illegitimate as being: (1) not recognized as lawful offspring; specifically: born of
parents not married to each other (2) not rightly deduced or inferred illogical (3) departing for the

It was not until the early 1870s that child abuse was first brought into light. The Child Protection
Movement started with the news of one eight year old orphan named Mary Ellen Wilson. After the
passing of her biological mother and father, Mary Ellen was left in the care of her biological father s
widow, Mary McCormack Connolly. Mrs. McCormack Connolly badly mistreated Mary Ellen, and
neighbors in the building were well aware of the child s predicament (Mary Ellen Wilson, 2013). It
was not until Etta Angell Wheeler, a caring Methodist mission worker, visited the residence and
noticed Mary Ellen s condition. Ms. Wheeler describes her first meeting with Mary Ellen, as such:
It was December and the weather bitterly cold. She was a tiny mite, the size of five years, though, as
afterward appeared, she was then nine. From a pan set upon a low stool she stood washing dishes,
struggling with a frying pan about as heavy as herself. Across the table lay a brutal whip of twisted
leather strands and the child s meagre arms and legs bore many marks of its use. But the saddest part
of her story was written on her face in its look of suppression and misery, the face of a child unloved,
of a child that had seen only the fearsome side of life. These things I saw while seeming not to see,
and I left without speaking to, or of, the child. I never

Summary Of The Poem After The War Poem
When faced with the countless problems of war including death, disease, sorrow, and loss, soldiers
develop and intense bond between one another as they seek support in one another. A brotherhood is
formed among these soldiers who rely on one another for protection and companionship amid a time
in their lives where they are faced with the constant threat of death and violence everyday of their
lives. But what happens to them after the war? In After the War, poet brings awareness to how the war
torn soldier attempts to reestablish their self in a society they have been isolated from for so many
years through use of free verse and repetitive phrases, which further reinforces the theme throughout
the poem.
Use of free verse in this poem creates a lack of structure that appears to parallel the soldier s own lack
of structure and direction in his own life after he leaves the war. The poem begins with the image of a
soldier s and his squadron raiding a farmhouse:
When he got to the farmhouse, he rifled through the cabinets, drawers, and cupboards, and his buddies
did too. The place was abandoned, or so he thought, and his buddies did too.
The first stanza connotes a slight sense structure as the phrase and his buddies did too is repeated after
stating each action the soldier does. Moreover, the lines themselves are structured in such a way that
suggests a deliberate organized form especially in comparison to how the rest of the poem is written.

Reflection Of A Reflection On Teaching
Reflection for Co Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders at an IB school.
This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in Jefferson
County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students construct
meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are inquiry
based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts through
exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said, my
cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged in
learning and doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with, yet he
had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was centered on the
3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the concept of the duration
and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential question of how humans can have
a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and insects was also a guiding factor in the
lesson. My CT and one of his co workers that taught 3rd grade came up with this lesson with the help
of the Butterfly Pavilion, who provided specimens, exploration, and butterfly holder nets for the
classroom.
This lesson was a great activity that captivated an idea learned in my college class that

Theme Of Religion In Cry The Beloved Country
How can one make so many mistakes in life and still be forgiven as if they did not do anything
wrong? In the novel Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton, religion was an important point
throughout the whole novel. The main character, Stephen Kumalo, who simply goes by Kumalo, was a
black South African priest who revolved his life around his family and God. There had been many
times in Kumalo s life where his feelings and actions had been the results of devoting his life to God.
Paton continually mentioned the importance of faith in this book and what it meant to each of the
characters present. One of the main ideas in this novel was the journey Kumalo took in order to
overcome the challenges he had faced. The obstacles he was presented with included finding his
daughter and his son. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

land. His main goal was to find his family and get them back together; the land of South Africa
showed him that life needed to be changed and as once Kumalo returned to Ndotsheni with his family,
the land was a work in progress. An agricultural demonstrator came into town and was preparing to
improve life at Ndotsheni. By these events taking place, God was answering Kumalo s prayers by
getting his family back together and upgrading the land. Through the tragic events of Absalom
committing murder and asking for forgiveness, his prayers were somewhat answered. The white man
he murdered was committed to helping the natives and trying to get everyone to be equal. The father
of the dead man carried on his legacy by contributing to the redeveloping of the land for the natives.

Examples Of Antecedents Of Commitment
1.4.3 Antecedents Of Commitment
Antecedents of commitment are elements and actions that cause commitment to occur. These elements
foster employee perception that leads to positive consequences for the organization and the individual
(Fornes et al., 2008).
Tayyab (2006) categorized antecedents into intrinsic and extrinsic work motivation. Intrinsic values
are derived from individual s personal feelings and objectives, it comprises of feelings of enjoyment

It has been highlighted that an organization s workforce is the most valuable asset of the organization.
Therefore, it is inherent that every organization stay committed to ensuring that the employees are
committed to their work. An employee with greater organizational commitment has a greater chance
of contributing to organizational success and will also experience higher levels of job satisfaction.
The following can be pointed out as some of the benefits derivable from having a committed
workforce.
According to (Vandenberg and Lance 1992:5), commitment leads to job satisfaction, which is the level
of contentment a person feels regarding his or her work. This can also affect performance. Job
satisfaction can be influenced by a person s ability to complete a required task, the level of
communication in the organization, and the way management treats the employees. When employees
have affective commitment towards organization, they tend to have an increased level of job
satisfaction.
Also, (Mathieu and Zajac, 1990) states that when employees are committed, it leads to an increase in
general job performance. Organizations will be able to increase their turnover levels when they have a
committed workforce (Barber et.al.,

VERSUS BUY. MOST COURSES IN MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE
MAKE/BUY PROBLEM TO ILLUSTRATE THE APPLICABILITY OF RELEVANT COST
ANALYSIS IN THINKING ABOUT SUCH DECISIONS. This case is rich enough to support a fully
articulated relevant cost analysis. It also will support a strategic analysis with a little more digging by
the students. It is a great case to illustrate different cost analysis frameworks for a classic management
decision.

Legal Reasoning And Differences And Decisions In The Court...
The Justices Section This section on the Justices will delve into my three Justices Sotomayor,
Gorsuch, and Thomas. Thomas has been on the court since 1991 and has a proven conservative
record, Sotomayor is a bit newer to the court and has a more mixed record leaning toward the liberal
side on most of the issues, and final there is Gorsuch, the newest member of the court and labeled as a
conservative in the spirit in Justice Scalia who he replaced. This section will delve into these
preconceived notions about the Justices, and will attempt to put them in perspective as the decision of
where they will fall when deciding this case. Four tables will also be used in this section and they will
simply be referred to as table 1, 2, 3, and 4. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the four cases that were decided in the conservative direction Strong conservatives, based off the
common space scores in parenthesis, voted in the conservative direction in all except for one instance.
As for the two liberal Justices in these cases one dissented, Justice Rogers, (United States v. Delgado
Garcia, 374 F.3d 1337) and the other Justice Barron of the first circuit voted with the conservatives,
(United States v. Diaz Doncel, 811 F.3d 517). An important note is that there was precedent set in the
conservative direction that may have caused Barron to vote the way he did, (United States v.
Gonzalez, 311 F.3d 440). In the eight cases that were judged in the liberal direction all of them, which
were not table decisions, except for one consisted of panels with two liberal justices or one liberal
justice and a weak conservative. A look at the ideological makeup of the decisions of the appellate
court is important, but it is definitely not the end all rule especially when the results are not super
definitive as they are here.
The Supreme Court s treatment of Criminal cases and plea bargaining Another important factor to
look at to see how policy preferences, namely judged through ideology, will play a factor is how likely
the Supreme Court has been to overturn convictions, and to test whether or not ideology plays a

The Importance Of Technology On The Phone2action System
Once our competence was acknowledged we were brought in to also help with Jira tickets. Not yet on
the sprint team but our code would be directly affecting the Phone2Action platform. It was
intimidating to say the least. Since we were going to be programming on the platform we had to learn
to use a lot more applications and dependency managers like gulp, yarn, composer, and NPM to name
a few, using terminal commands to manage dependencies and keep them updated. Phone2Action had
many checks and balances when it came to platform code. The Engineers used Tower and Beanstalk
for source control and code reviews, later moving to git hub after our new CTO started. Once you
finished and tested your code and got the results your Jira ticket ... Show more content on

Whenever I was having a hard time with my ticket I would read some relevant source code and see
how the other Engineers made similar things work. It was not required that you marked what block of
code you worked on in a comment, but in some I found initials stating who wrote that block or file,
but for the most part once the code was merged in you had to guess who wrote what. I believe this is
the case because in one of my first sprint meetings I was told they do not point fingers when
something is not working properly, or if a bug comes up, they just fixed it. There were so many files,
some auto generated by the Laravel framework and many completely written by the company. They
were all organized perfectly in a system that was confusing from the outside looking in, but made
more sense than not once you figured out how the system worked. If a bit of code could be written in
its own file, then it should be. Everyone advocated for this design because it was more manageable
then scrolling through huge files to find a single function. I ran into files that were only a few lines
long and files that were thousands of lines. The campaign controller that handled most of the
campaign creation traffic was the biggest file they had according to Luke. It had about 9000 lines of
working code and every single line seemed like it had a purpose. I would eventually contribute to this
number. Phone2Action s platform was written primarily in PHP and JavaScript under the

An Outline Structure of Democratic World Government Essay
An Outline Structure of Democratic World Government
Introduction problems and benefits of World Government
The idea of world government has not received a good press for many years. It tends to make most of
us think of Stalinist dictators and fascist domination of the globe. I wish to argue, though, that there is
a viable form of democratic world government which could bring many benefits.
A democratic world government that really worked would lead to a major increase in the freedom
enjoyed by all people on the planet. It would also make more equitable the international balance of
power which currently so heavily favours the rich developed nations and their citizens at the expense
of the much larger numbers of citizens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MWPs would be elected from national or supra national constituencies, one per so many head of
population (but probably with a minimum of at least one per nation, at least in the early decades
[There are approaching 200 nation states in the world at the moment, with populations ranging from
50,000 St Lucia to 5,000,000,000
China. This represents a variance of a factor of 100,000, so the disparity in representation could not be
tolerated indefinitely. In due course some notion of communal MWPs, shared by small countries of
reasonably alike culture, would have to be introduced.]). They would be subjected to re election every
5 years. The world government envisaged here would have no army and would require only minimal
administrative support. As a result, its costs would be small. It would not be allowed to raise any
taxes, instead being funded in a similar way to that in which the United Nations is today, by
contributions from the nation states which make up its membership. Such nation states would continue
to exist in the new system just as they do now, forming an essential balancing power to that of the
world government, and would be without significant loss of sovereignty.
Membership of the new system which the world government represented would be voluntary for each
nation in the world, just as

  • 2. A Brief Note On The First Great Awakening Woman Suffrage Denied How a changing environment can change people s perception in love, life, and service to God and mankind. How several women with strong beliefs and approaches to equal opportunity created separation amongst the people. Examining the different rolls women participated in to influence change in America. The Second Great Awakening of the 1790 s, brought change to the New World. inspired by the economic progress and democratic spirit of the age and by the religious optimism of the Second Great Awakening, believed that they could improve their personal lives and society as a whole (Henretta et al, America 321). The Second Great Awakening created an environment in which denominations came together in cooperation. Religious leaders began to establish societies, which ministered to the nation (Henretta et al, America 252). Everyone participating in these societies together, began to serve a larger religious purpose, uniting communities. The Second Great Awakening prompted women to demonstrate their piety and even to found new sects (Henretta et al, America 253). Pioneered by Mother Ann Lee, the Shakers was created in Britain. In 1774, the all women group The Shakers moved to America. By 1820, the women group increased in numbers. Living and operating within a male dominate environment, where gender segregated prayer meetings still took place the women group wanted change. • 3. A Rumor Of War By Philip Caputo And Young The Vietnam War was largely considered a failure, a waste of resources, time and precious lives. It was simply a war that did not need to be fought. But in order to combat the ever prevailing communist forces; the capitalists and in particular, America, decided that Vietnam would be the land where these differences would be disputed. Men were sent in to fight in this war and they came back with very different experiences. As seen in both perspectives held in A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo and in We were soldiers once... and young by Hal Moore and Joseph Galloway; they explore the varying perspectives and experienced seen and learnt within war. Whereas in A Rumor of War , it tackles the consequences of being sent into such harsh warfare, only because Philip Caputo saw the harsh reality firsthand as he was a soldier in the war. The former, We were soldiers once... and young tackles the glorification of war because it s not solely a soldier s account. A journalist was in company of these men and as such details get skewed for the public s perception. Regardless, both these books share a telling tale of the war in Vietnam through their radically different views. Firstly, it is important to establish the historical contexts of these two books. A Rumor of War was published in 1977, two years after the end of the Vietnam War. It was written by a soldier who served in the war. The period this describes is immediately the post war era and the fallout faced by soldiers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the relative debt and equity values can be easily determined, calculating the costs of debt and equity can be problematic. In calculating each component, we are given many different options and proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult to maintain (Borad, 2012). Conclusion Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. To tackle this issue, WACC is one of the most widely used formulas even though the process is difficult, and results seem ambiguous. However, it is clear that WACC is the average cost of capital the firm must pay, in this case Home Depot (HD), to all its investors, both debt and equity holders. Since HD has debt to the tune of $29.6 billion (2012), it means that rwacc is an average of its debt and equity cost of capital. What are the pros and cons of alternative distribution methods? The biggest benefit that the mail order marketing strategy will yield to Ricci is that she gets to choose when and where the Beach Carrier is offered for sale. With this feature she can choose who distributes her product as well. The next big pro for the mail order strategy is that she will receive immediate feedback on the effectiveness of the system. If after the first wave goes out there is a lag in sales, she may need to think of a new method to market/sell her product. A major disadvantage to the mail order system is that oftentimes a small picture in a catalog is not an effective representation of the product itself and could turn people off to potentially purchasing the Beach Carrier. Another con to this system is that Ricci may not be reaching enough of the target consumers through her system. Her target demographic, women, would not necessarily be reached by a Boating magazine. Also, advertising through a magazine is a very ineffective way to reach a large market because it is very unlikely that many potential customers are subscribed to that ... • 8. Pornography Abuse And Violence Against Women There are obvious problems with society today regarding the presence of sexual violence and rape. The cause of these crimes is difficult to isolate, as it is also difficult material for researchers to complete studies on. We need a better definition of abuse, and it needs to be stated that the intelligence and mental instability can affect a man s actions. There can be a place in relationships for pornography as well, where women are consenting and desire to explore different material, not necessarily being dehumanized. While Fight the New Drug and Samantha Grey, the author of, A Letter to Men: Porn is Not Just Women s Problem, both present claims that pornography consumption leads to violence against women, and plea for society to reject pornography, there are unanswered questions and overlooked aspects that leave their argument unconvincing. A guideline of what defines abuse and violence needs to be established to properly examine pornography material. The texts presented high percentages of violence existing in the pornography films that were used to formulate data. However, there are no specifics regarding what violence is. Did the standards include elements of dirty talk, kink, spanking, or BDSM? Fight the New Drug states that In other words, in porn, people are getting beaten up and they re smiling about it. Gender Roles And Sexuality In Plato s Symposium Gender Roles and Sexuality of Classic Greek Society Throughout Plato s classical dialogue The Symposium, the main topic of choice is that of love, this ranges from sexual love to ideological love. Each character give their own take on what is love; some focus on the objects of love, others the ideals that it represents. Plato uses each and every speaker to further a dialogue of love, relationships, as well as sexuality within the Athenian culture. Each person adds ideas as well as ideals in order to piece together a greater picture of the virtues of love within greek society. For instance, the earliest Greek writing style which was called Linear B was influenced by the Minoan writing style called Linear A. Furthermore, the Greeks not only adopted the Minoans writing style but they also used the ship building and agricultural techniques used by the Egyptians and the Phoenicians. Despite their similarities, the Greeks had their characteristics that distinguished them from the rest. The Greeks were never unified but they did create one of the world s most remarkable cultural eras. The most important city states of Ancient Greece was Sparta and Athens. Both of these city states shared similar characteristics such as both would remain the foundation for the Greek political world. Both Athens and Sparta had a similar government system. Their members were elected by the people. Athens is said to be the of democracy. Athenians were educated(except girls) but they never knew much about brute force, unlike the Spartans. Thanks to its expertise, Longchamp is distributed in more than 275 stores worldwide. We would like to expand our production; therefore we chose to open a new factory in Romania. In this report, we will explain the reasons why we made this decision. 1) Tax costs Regarding tax costs, Romania is as a highly taxed country, just like France. Indeed, income and capital gains earned by corporation are taxed at a rate of 16%. More specifically, these data clearly demonstrate that Romania has payments percentage and profit taxes higher than France. Even if Romania is more taxed than France regarding corporate and income taxes, it is the opposite scheme for labor taxes and contributions. This inversion is due to low labor costs. Certainly high tax costs can be a constraint to produce in this country but we choose Romania for other reasons like the low labor cost and the proximity with our primary market, France. 2) Legal environment Thanks to the accession to the EU and the increasing integration in European markets, Romania s structural reform has progressed. Romania s reform and liberalization process created large foreign exchange inflows and a positive view of Romania s prospects. However, the judicial power is not entirely independent. No matter what category the institution falls under, various trends are impacting higher education and threaten to redefine the traditional mission. What follows is a discussion of five such trends and an examination of the potential impact upon students, faculty, staff, parents and the institutions. The Cost of Higher Education The cost of higher education is on the rise. Within the United States, nearly every state has reduced funding to higher education. As a result, institutions are challenged with replacing the lost revenue and in most cases this is accomplished by increasing tuition. In addition the cost of benefits for faculty and staff is increasing. Dew (2012) found that as health care costs increase and both private and state sponsored pension funds decrease, institutions are increasingly dipping into their own revenues to support benefit packages. In another effort to reduce costs, universities continue to reduce the number of full time faculty and replace them with adjunct faculty and graduate assistants both of which are exempt from benefits. As tenured faculty members retire, universities elect to fill the position with part time faculty in lieu of high salaried tenured professors. Increased costs have a cascading effect on other initiatives as well. State budget cuts threaten research universities by reducing the funds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Listen to me, everything that Jesus says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation to everyone to attend the marriage of his son. The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! (Jen Gorgan and Ruth Suter;2009) There are many factors as to why patients do not adhere to their ARV treatment. The main factors for non adherence would appear to be patient related, this would include patients that are alcohol and substance abusers. However there are many other reasons, that could contribute, such as inconvenient dosing frequency, dietary restrictions, pill burden, side effects, area which the patient is located and patient health care provider relationships; and the system of care (Margaret A. Chesney; 2000) this factors/reasons mentioned above can be improved by clarifying treatment plans and perhaps be able to work around the patient schedule or lifestyle also the patient and their loved ones should be educated in order to understand the risks and for the to create a financial plan. Medical centers/clinics should also have support groups for the patients and should distribute pamphlets (like the ones that have added been provided by ICAS) There are HIV related stigmas and discriminations that refer to the prejudice, abuse and negativity that is shown towards people living HIV and aids.in many countries with available data, over 50%of people have been said to have shown discriminatory attitude toward people living with HIV and AIDS. Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your choice. Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and can be traced to some sort of genetically altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation, inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of diversity within the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species. Origin of diversity within species Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the species decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity affected the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they considered 112 individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship: with a reduced heterozygosity, the production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). It is important to note; this relationship was found amongst individuals not entire populations (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause inbreeding depression for the data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). Figure 1 Relationship between the proportion of abnormal sperm and meant heterozygosity. Graph taken from Slate and Pemberton, 2006. Graph A shows the relationship among individual ... • 31. Sy-1 Research Paper For over forty years, the Aegis weapon system has been the main form of defense for the U.S. Navy s surface ship fleet. Created by Lockheed Martin, this defense system has separated itself from any other since being created in 1983. In a world where defensive threats can come in many forms the Aegis system has adjusted and overcome all possible threats truly making it the most elite and necessary onboard ship system to have. With the use of SPY 1 radar, the Aegis display system, the weapons control system, and the command and decision system, Aegis is able to attack land targets, submarines, and surface ships simultaneously making it the most dominant system for the US Navy to use today. Along with surface and subsurface combatants, Aegis can defend against aircraft and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This radar is the primary system used for air and surface defense. How SPY 1 works is that a mechanically rotating radar sends signals or beams outboard from the ship to pick up all targets (Lockheed Martin). Once the radar receives return signals, the SPY 1 must use a different tracking radar by sending out signals of electromagnetic energy to track and determine what the target is as well as possible threat capabilities. Another reason why SPY 1 is the spear head for US Navy radar systems is its ability to track over one hundred targets at a time. Some strengths of the SPY 1 that other radar do not have is it s fast reaction and ability to detect and send a missile in less than ten seconds, fast transition from SPY 1 silent to full radiate, and its large field of fire with minimal blockage zones (AN/SPY 1, 2000). The most important advantage of the SPY 1 is its ability to be linked with the Aegis system and how they work together to create one multi functional defense system. SPY 1 is able to track targets while surveying the area as well as update the command and decision system used by Aegis to engage targets if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While reading the semi autobiographical, Bastard Out of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison, I was stunned by the explicit nature of the novel. We were introduced to a young narrator and protagonist named, Ruth Anne Bone Boatwright. Bone s family, like that of the author, experienced a impoverished life, all the while she tried to find her place in a society that had literally labeled her illegitimate. Merriam Webster defines illegitimate as being: (1) not recognized as lawful offspring; specifically: born of parents not married to each other (2) not rightly deduced or inferred illogical (3) departing for the regular erratic (4) not sanctioned by law illegal (5) not authorized by good usage. The Child Protection Movement started with the news of one eight year old orphan named Mary Ellen Wilson. After the passing of her biological mother and father, Mary Ellen was left in the care of her biological father s widow, Mary McCormack Connolly. Mrs. McCormack Connolly badly mistreated Mary Ellen, and neighbors in the building were well aware of the child s predicament (Mary Ellen Wilson, 2013). It was not until Etta Angell Wheeler, a caring Methodist mission worker, visited the residence and noticed Mary Ellen s condition. Ms. Wheeler describes her first meeting with Mary Ellen, as such: It was December and the weather bitterly cold. She was a tiny mite, the size of five years, though, as afterward appeared, she was then nine. From a pan set upon a low stool she stood washing dishes, struggling with a frying pan about as heavy as herself. Across the table lay a brutal whip of twisted leather strands and the child s meagre arms and legs bore many marks of its use. But the saddest part of her story was written on her face in its look of suppression and misery, the face of a child unloved, of a child that had seen only the fearsome side of life. These things I saw while seeming not to see, and I left without speaking to, or of, the child. I never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Summary Of The Poem After The War Poem When faced with the countless problems of war including death, disease, sorrow, and loss, soldiers develop and intense bond between one another as they seek support in one another. A brotherhood is formed among these soldiers who rely on one another for protection and companionship amid a time in their lives where they are faced with the constant threat of death and violence everyday of their lives. But what happens to them after the war? In After the War, poet brings awareness to how the war torn soldier attempts to reestablish their self in a society they have been isolated from for so many years through use of free verse and repetitive phrases, which further reinforces the theme throughout the poem. Use of free verse in this poem creates a lack of structure that appears to parallel the soldier s own lack of structure and direction in his own life after he leaves the war. The poem begins with the image of a soldier s and his squadron raiding a farmhouse: When he got to the farmhouse, he rifled through the cabinets, drawers, and cupboards, and his buddies did too. The place was abandoned, or so he thought, and his buddies did too. The first stanza connotes a slight sense structure as the phrase and his buddies did too is repeated after stating each action the soldier does. Moreover, the lines themselves are structured in such a way that suggests a deliberate organized form especially in comparison to how the rest of the poem is written. Most interesting about the ... This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students construct meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are inquiry based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts through exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said, my cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged in learning and doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with, yet he had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was centered on the 3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the concept of the duration and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential question of how humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and insects was also a guiding factor in the lesson. Therefore, it is inherent that every organization stay committed to ensuring that the employees are committed to their work. The following can be pointed out as some of the benefits derivable from having a committed workforce. According to (Vandenberg and Lance 1992:5), commitment leads to job satisfaction, which is the level of contentment a person feels regarding his or her work. This can also affect performance. Job satisfaction can be influenced by a person s ability to complete a required task, the level of communication in the organization, and the way management treats the employees. When employees have affective commitment towards organization, they tend to have an increased level of job satisfaction.
