Reflection Of Schindler s List
It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do
just that could be to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature,
describe how it makes you feel, and see what that says about you as a person. As
such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List , one of my favorite
movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindlerwho uses WorldWar 2 as an opportunity
to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman
who knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to
start his manufactory near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for
cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout the film, starting as selfish and ending
up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his responsibility and
uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is
initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and
allows this to continue and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the
end of the movie, he ends up saving over eleven hundred jews, and his only regret
that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved more. This film
demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is
inherent in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I
believe people are responsible for their own actions. I came to believe this for
several reasons. When I was growing up, it was common for my parents to say
things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in
were both similar in that regard. The idea was that your actions produce a net
result that affects you and potentially others. My father usually said this to me in
regards to being a decent person or playing football. He drove me to be a better
athlete but said I was responsible to work hard. He told me that I am a result of the
decisions I make, that I become my actions. I had observed this for myself in the real
worldand came to believe it outright. Personally, I noticed that when I worked
harder at school I got better grades. When I practiced football more, I saw the results

oncology services. There are no oncologists that practice at Trinity Community
Hospital, but there are physicians who have expressed interest if a program was
developed. The physician groups that offer oncology services are at their capacity.
The hospital currently does have imaging services, including a MRI scanner.
Additionally, the hospital has a mobile PET scanner 2 days per week. Trinity
Community Hospital currently does not have any chemotherapy units or nurses that
have experience with chemotherapy. While, the other 2 hospitals in the area have
cancer programs, there are no coordinators in place to facilitate the scheduling of
patients. The care of oncology patients is fragmented. Currently there are no
prevention programs in place. There are educational programs in place, but they are
not offered frequently.

A functionalist approach suggests a bottom up method to gradual structural

I think it is safe to say that the French Revolution was significantly bloodier than the
American Revolution. The guillotine had become the French s new best friend.

Christianity teaches that in order to be able to truly serve God, one must give up
worldly pleasures, which are deemed selfish. Throughout literature, many authors
touch on this subject, some in very direct manners. Such is the case in Cervantes Don
Quixote and St. Augustine s Confessions. In excerpts from each, the narrator
describes how he had undergone a change from relishing in worldly and selfish
activities to renouncing such immoral pleasures in order to follow the moral path to
God. As each passage progresses, the narrator tells of his past and his new thinking in

Also, as he describes the emotions he felt while watching shows, Augustine uses the
past tense: felt, had, became, gave. In this manner, there is a clear emphasis on the
fact that the feelings he mentions are not what he feels now, which is important
because he feels his past beliefs were immoral.
Throughout both of the passages, the word now is repeated many times to show
the contrast between each man s past and present. Now also serves as a tool for
Don Quixote and Augustine to express the negative feelings behind objects from
their pasts. Don Quixote states that he is now...the enemy of Amadis of Gaul, a well
known novel of chivalry that he had revered. By calling himself the enemy, Don
Quixote emphasizes that he no longer believes in the stories he once loved. In fact,
those stories are described as profane as Don Quixote tells his friends that such
novels are odious to me now. Continuously, the word now reappears, showing that
Don Quixote has abandoned his former ways and wants to prove that he is different
in the present.
Augustine also describes his new feelings with the words but now, which show an
obvious shift in opinion. What Augustine once found pleasurable is now pernicious,
and his former source of joy he now views as vile. These two words are extremely
strong, and express to what a great extent Augustine has altered his beliefs. In both
passages, the narrator employs a great deal of negative words to illustrate
