Atrial And Ventricular Septal Defects
ATRIAL AND VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECTS
Yulissa R. De Leon
June 26, 2016
BS 104 ME1
Dr. Ali Saleh A ventricular septal defect or VSD is a heart defect. It s congenital, this means that a
baby is born with it. It is an opening or hole in the dividing wall called the Septum, between the
two lower chambers of the heart, right and left ventricles. Ventricular septal defects are the most
common type of congenital heart defects. A VSD allows oxygen rich bloodto pass from the left
ventricle through the opening in the septum. Then it mixes with oxygen poor blood in the right
ventricle. There are different types of ventricular septal defects, the type your child has depends
on which part of the wall between the ventricles is involved. Also the size of the opening or hole
varies. A ventricular septal defect may occur more often in some families, this is because of
gene defects. But most of the time, the cause is unknown. Similarly to ventricular septal defect,
an Atrial septal defect is a birth defect of the heart in which there is also a hole in the wall in the
septum, but instead of dividing the lower chambers it divides the upper chambers of the heart
(atria), here a hole can vary in size and may close on its own or may require surgery as well. An
atrial septal defect is one type of congenital heart defect, in which also the baby is born with it.
For both Atrial and Ventricular septal defect the size of the opening or hole affects how severe the
child s

The Song Of Roland Analysis
Hatred and Wealth
Many readers of The Song of Roland find that the hatred and belittling of Roland and Ganelon is
very evident but is not really explained why they hate each other. It is easily seen they have a
relationship as step father and step son that can be quite full of altercations in most cases yet, Roland
is still not letting friends such as Oliver talk about Ganelon even when they have noticed being set
up for death. The scholar T. Atkinson Jenkins has looked into reasons for the hatred and treason
that occur in the journal Why Did Ganelon Hate Roland? Jenkins provides many options to
Ganelon s hatred for Roland. To me the most illuminating thing is the way hatred mostly likely was
built on wealth, and today many people find the same reasons to be jealous and even hate others.
Throughout the Jenkins essay he uses the Ganelon prosecution which was not read in class, but
can be summarized best as Ganelon revoking being a traitor, and stating, It was Roland who
cheated me of gold and goods; and so I made him suffer and die... (Unknown 1310). His fellow
kinsmen asked king Charlemagne to set Ganelon free and Charlemagne is distraught by their
words and calls all the men traitors (1311). Jenkins finds most every account of Ganelon and
Roland participating in name calling, and crazily in the passage no one seems to pay any attention
to the disgrace. Throughout the essay Jenkins finds quotes such as my poor imitation of a father
(120) from using words such as

Feed R D or Farm It Out?
A)Actionable Key Issues and Consequences
1)Invest more in Research and Development department in RLK
a.If Lars decides to invest around $6 million more in research and development, it is highly risky
as the company s survival depends largely on the success of the launch of Ray s new product into
the market.
b.Since customers associate RLK with high end audio video design, pumping money into R D
would increase their brand equity as well as to live up to consumers expectations of their highly
innovative products.
c.However, RLK s competitors are downsizing and outsourcing R D and exploiting on the cost
advantages. If RLK decides to invest more money into R D and should the new product stall on
launch, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There will be a huge cost advantage for RLK from the start and hence this reduces risk that the
company will face should the product fail to meet market demands. As there are time differences,
distance and other factors to consider, the lack of interaction between the teams may cause friction
between them and thus create a big problem for RLK.
There is a big cultural difference between Ray s R D team and Inova. This may cause both teams
to be uncooperative and show a lack of enthusiasm in handling this project.
Besides, RLK s brand equity may be at risk by outsourcing as the consumers expectation of RLK is
that their products are designed and produced in the United States.
3. Hire a few more software engineer talents to strengthen RLK s long term in house capabilities
and transfer a few of his R D leaders to
Gurgaon for training.Having more software talents in RLK will satisfy Ray s request and at the
same time, strengthening the R D department s ability to meet long term obligations
By going overseas, the engineers can help to facilitate communication between both teams and
monitor things over at Inova s side.Ray may still be unhappy with the thought of collaborating with
Inova even if Lars grants his request of expanding the R D department in RLK.
RLK may suffer losses if the partnership with Inova turns sour and the Intellectual property remains
with Inova.

Inland Empire Advantages
Many think of the Inland Empire in a negative way. What many do not realize is there are many
positive things that benefit the residents. The Inland Empire used to be a thriving place and it is
slowly coming back. Living in the I.E. you are able to access different diversities of regions.
Also, there is a lot of history that makes the I.E. more rich throughout its region, Such as, how the
aqueducts revolutionized farming and how the railroads past through mountains to deliver
resources. Living in the I.E. gives region options in which is great. The I.E. is such an open place

Also diversity of ethnicity helps us not to be biased among each other since we have a mix of

Napoleon s Rise to Power
Napoleon Bonaparte was born Napoleone di Buonaparte in Corsica, August 15, 1769. His
family consisted of his father, a lawyer and member of the Nobility, his mother, his sister and his
seven brothers. He was a small child, and often was teased by his classmates when he was
enrolled in military college at a very early age in 1777, and it is believed that this influenced the
determination he had to win later in life. Later, he went to Ecole Militaire from 1784 to 1785.
Also in 1785, his father died. Even so, he graduated with the rank of second lieutenant. At this
time, great things were expected of Napoleon. However, no one could have guessed that this 16
year old would go on to make history.
Napoleon was a rising star in the French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they finally fought, Napoleon did win, but found the capital in flames. He ordered a retreat,
and while they withdrew, he lost more than 400,000 soldiers to the Russian winter and starvation.
Then, when the army was sufficiently weak, an alliance of Russia, Britain, Austria, and Prussia
ambushed them, easily seizing defeat.
Napoleon returned to France, but the Russian British alliance soon took Paris, and after realizing
that he could not recreate his army, he abdicated and went into exile. King Louis XVI s brother
was allowed to rule again as King Louis XVIII.
However, once King Louis XVIII came to power, many emigrates returned and demanded revenge
on revolutionaries. Napoleon took this chance to return to France as well, where discontented
soldiers welcomed him with open arms. In March 1815, he began to rebuild his army. It took him
one hundred days. However, the British allies acted quickly, and he was crushed in June at the
Battle of Waterloo.
The Battle of Waterloo was the infamous conflict that marked the official end of Napoleon s
reign. It pitted Napoleon s Armee du Nord against an army of British allies commanded by the
Duke of Wellington, as well as a Prussian army under Gebhard von BlГјcher s command. The
French army was easily outnumbered, with their 72,000 men pitted against Britains 68,000 and
Prussia s 89,000. However, Wellington sid that Napoleon was

What Are The Strong Points Of Stewart Box Company s...
CRITICAL ISSUES
What are the strong points of Stewart Box company s current sytem?
Marketing
Stewart Box company differentiated itself from competition by focusing on custom made orders
and targeting a small niche market only. By doing this they are able to actively cater to its
customer s individual wishes, and strictly adhere to promised delivery dates.
What are the weak points of Stewart Box company s current sytem?
Marketing Reach
Stewart Box Company has a very limited customer base. They only market their products within a
radius of about 500 miles from its factory, which was located in a fairly small town. A limited
customer base results to low volume of orders which will lead to the carton factory operating
below its capacity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is very important for Stewart Box Company to be have slightly lower prices than its
competitors to be competitive in a very cutthroat industry.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Expand Market Reach
To address the underutilization of the carton factory, Stewart Box company needs to increase the
volume of their orders. They can do this by going beyond the their existing 500 mile marketing
radius. They can also further increase their volume by catering to not only custom made orders but
also catering to standard packaging sizes. By increasing sales, the capacity of the carton factory is
fully utilized, cost efficiency is improved, thereby improving the bottom line figures of the company.
Improve efficiency of factories
Stewart Box Company needs to address the Carton Factory operating under capacity. The
underutilization of this plant may cause inefficiencies in the company s operations thereby
increasing its standard costs. This inefficiency in operations is evident in the unfavorable variances
in the company s Income Statement and Spending Report.
Reevaluate Costing Method
The company should reevaluate their costing process. Costing based on estimates of annual
standard costs may be result to inaccurate cost estimates as cost of raw materials and manufacturing
equipment fluctuate within a year. The company needs to be more dynamic in their costing

Themes In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel by Oscar Wilde, first published in 1890. In this novel, the
main character, Dorian Gray, has his soul trapped in a portrait which ages and records every
soul corrupting sin. Two main themes can be defined in this novel: desire, which is a strong
feeling of wanting to have something, or wishing something to happen; and pleasure, a feeling
of happy satisfaction and enjoyment. Therefore, forbidden pleasures and dark desires lead
Dorian Gray to be doomed. I m going to first examine Dorian Gray s desires, then the theme of
ruining lives, to end with living a life of pleasure. In the beginning of the novel, Dorian Gray is a
young man who has his life in front of him. He shows the desire of youth and beauty,... Show more

To start with, we could say that Basil Hallward was the one who launched it all. Firstly, he was
the one to paint the picture and also the one to introduce Dorian Gray to Lord Henry. But we can
also say that Lord Henry, with his hedonism ideas, was the main influence in Dorian s actions.
Having no idea whatsoever of the world as it is, Dorian was ignorant and innocent about it. Then
receiving ideas that pleasure is the means to life, he accepted them as universal truth, without
questioning them at all. And as soon as he began to believe in such things, everything fell apart.
Lord Henry finds confusing Dorian a source of pleasure, and he does not care if Dorian is going
down a path of destruction, by his philosophy,if it is amusing, it is good. Dorian only valued
Sybil as an aesthetic object. She was a living work of art, and when she couldn t act anymore,
she lost all of her value in the eyes of Dorian. He then broke up his engagement. As a sign of
what he was doing wrong, his painting showed the mark of his break up with Sybil, which meant
that it was also a pain to his soul, and it was the first time that the painting altered its appearance.
Without knowing it, Dorian was the cause to a great deal of pain, enough for that girl to kill herself

Essay about Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes To Yellow Sky
Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky
Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky, as well as his other Western stories, owe much
to Mark Twain s approach to the West. According to Eric Solomon, both authors...used humor to
comment on the flaws of traditional fictional processes (237). While employing parody of the
Western literary tradition, Crane also uses realism to depict the influence of the East on the West.
In The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky, Stephen Craneuses symbolism to develop his study of the
changes effected on the West and the roles of its inhabitants by the encroachment of eastern society.

Similarities Between Bordeaux And Burgundy From The Same...
Introduction This paper will zero in on compare and contrast two different regions which are
Bordeaux and Burgundy in the same field: location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes. Discuss the
early history of the development of each region, including the specific examples. Then review the
location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes that rank the wines as among the best in the world. To
conclude, look into the future of each region to analyze prospects for continued success.
The history of Bordeaux Wine The history of the Bordeaux wine region dates back to the ancient
Romans who were the first people to cultivate, plant vineyards and produce Bordeaux wine. The
Romans took over the area in about 60 BC, and it was starting to earn fame for its wines as far
back as in 1152 when Henry of England wed Eleanor of Aquitaine, who controlled the region.
The Bordeaux appellation was perfect for cultivating grapes for wine. It offered the unique
combination of the right soil for growing grapes used in the production of wine coupled with
easy access to the Garonne river, which was needed to help ship the wines. Because after a
series of attacks on the city in 1206, greater freedom was granted, so it lead to the 12th century
became the start of Bordeaux s golden age. Over the centuries winemakers of the region have
mastered both the art of blending and have learnt to work with Bordeaux s unique climate and
terrain to produce a wide diversity of reds, whites and roses all

The Homelessness Of Homeless Youth Essay
Homeless individuals can be easily detected in our society. They are the individuals dressed in
drab clothing asking for money, the people sleeping on park benches in the middle of the night,
and the people who we judge when they beg for money wondering why they don t get a job. They
are judged under a certain narrative that reduces the homeless individual into their current state of
being (Lancione, 2013). To understand homelessnessone should not only look at the current
condition of the individuals but also look at the discourse of factors and events that led homeless
individuals into their current states. Homeless youth although hard to spot are still very much a
current problem in our society. Many youth fall in between the cracks of the system and are
forced to find different ways to produce some sort of income. There is a strong stigma involved
when it comes to homeless youth and many face dangers and a great amount of stress while living
on the streets (Kidd, 2007). Many of the homeless youth find it difficult to survive and often don t
have shelter and are always hungry (Kidd, 2007). To support themselves, many homeless youth find
themselves engaging in prostitution as a means of income and survival (Kidd, 2007). It is not
enough to look at the current state of homeless youth but also important to understand the different
factors that lead them to making certain decisions; it is no ones first choice to participate in illegal
work. In my paper I argue that, the

In an attempt to overcome some of the pitfalls learned in 1990, CHINs employed decentralized
data structures that made it less likely to violate some privacy concerns. (HIT Knowledgebase,
2012) Despite the fact that anywhere from 75 to 500 CHINs existed or were in the planning
stages during the 1990s, most failed to survive. There are several reasons that led to this failure.
First, there was a lack of focus on community stakeholders. (Vest and Gamm, 2010) In addition,
technology vendors, who were building the systems to collect fees associated with electronic
transmission, seemed to pit the interests of hospitals against those of community physicians.
Finally, there was no clear return on investment. (HIT Knowledgebase, 2012) IOM Reports In
1999, the Institute of Medicine released the first of a series of reports that would ignite a
national focus on patient safety and quality of care. This first report, To Err is Human, addressed
the fact that healthcare in the United States is not as safe as it should be. At least 44,000 people,
and perhaps as many as 98,000 people, die in hospitals each year as a result of medical errors that
could have been prevented, according to estimates from two major studies. (IOM, 1999) A follow
up report in 2001 pointed out how health information technology (HIT) and health information
exchange (HIE) can be used to reduce errors and improve efficiency and effectiveness of our
healthcare system. This new national focus

Samba De Coco Analysis
Focusing on the study of Samba de Coco (a Brazilian folkloric dance originally from the northern
region), Ethnographer Daniel Sharp analyses throughout his book two musical groups of the
twenty first century. Mr. Sharp decided to closely analyze them both was because they were
directly related to the reawaking process after a political transition from a military regime to
democratic. Both groups are from the city of Arcoverde, a small city in the backlands of the state of
Pernambuco(Northeast of Brazil). Coco RaГzes incorporates some African characteristics in its,
while Cordel do Fogo Encantado has a more aggressive and cosmopolitan style adding multiple
musical genres within. After the post authoritarian period, the two groups had the... Show more

Thus, the group quickly became well known in Brazil for its musical fragmentation gathering
multiple musical genres. After several TV appearances, the media started paying close attention to
the economic situation in Arcoverde, a situation that could take years to be fixed due to the change
of political regime. Indeed, their apocalyptic musical style criticizing poverty, violence, and drought
was a fragmented and declamatory way of seeing the future through the lens of the past, in other
words, they incorporated national and regional themes within the negative aesthetics of Death
Metal (Sharp 2014). Sharp, then, explained that Coco RaГz had two ironic representation: one is
the mud hut replica used as a museum; this iconic representation was built after Lula Calixto s
death (founder of the group Coco Raiz), Lula died of Chagas disease, a disease generalized at the
time due to the mud hut houses as it is a propitious place for the procreation of the triatomine bug.
Another ironic observation made by Sharp is seeing Coco RaГzes working to spread their afro
Brazilian musical form and making it predominant in a white and mestiço interior backlands.
Coco RГЎizes was using the past to argue in present trying to create a better future. The author
does not go into translation details sometimes, therefore it becomes difficult to understand what he
is trying to say. Another critic in this book would be Sharp s methodology, he did not want to learn
how to play Samba de Coco, instead he wanted to analyze the two groups as a journalist, for he felt
that asking too much for musical instructions would somehow affect his relationship with the
musicians. Nevertheless, having a practicing experience, not just

The Historical And Contemporary Importance Of Francis Of...
The most popular saint in history, Francis of Assisi s life is shrouded in as much legend as it is
fact. However, the influence of Francis or the monastic order he founded cannot be disputed. Born
into great wealth and influence during the Middle Ages, Francis turned down such comforts
instead taking up a life of poverty and ministry. In less than two decades of ministry, Francis was
able to leave a legacy that continues to influence the Church today. The following will show the
historical and contemporary importance of Francis of Assisiby examining his unique life, his
founding of the FranciscanOrder and his ongoing influence in the life of the Church. Saint Francis
of Assisiwas born Giovanni Bernardone around 1182 in Assisi, Italy to Peter (Pietro)

was away in France on business and his mother baptized him as Giovanni. Upon his return, Peter

but this was supplemented with practical education received while accompanying his father on
his many business journeys. Francis lived the typical life of a wealthy young man and aspired to
be a knight. He was quite the character and always desired to rise about the common place. A

Aristotle Is A Well Renowned Philosopher That Lived And
Aristotle is a well renowned philosopher that lived and taught in Greece during the time of 350
B.C. He was a student of Plato, yet is famous for rejecting Plato s theory of forms. He was both a
prolific writer in addition to a polymath and expanded the knowledge of numerous areas of study.
He even classified a multitude of distinctions for different aspects of knowledge that are still in use
today such as mathematics and biology. Aristotle was the first to develop a formalized system of
logicwhich was based on the structure of an argument rather than its contents. Aristotle created
some 200 treatises of which only 31 survive in a manuscript format instead of how Aristotle would
lecture them to his students. He was well known for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why are humans able to reason? It is because they have a rational soul. Then why do they have a
rational soul? It is because they are able to reason. Henceforth the argument is of circular logic. It
does however give us a classification for different categories of life which is important in Aristotle
s delvings into the sciences.
Aristotle lacked the technical and conceptual tools utilized by modern science in his endeavors to
explain why something is true instead of the statement that something it is true. Utilizing the
Aristotelian invention of syllogism, Aristotle s logic followed that if the premises for an
explanation of a phenomena is valid, as is the form, then the conclusion will be that of scientific
truth. While Aristotle erred in his findings in many of the various scientific realms, such as a
geocentric versus heliocentric solar system, his scientific application of syllogism gave way to
modern scientific empiricism which is the idea that an abstract argument must be supported by
factual evidence and for the theory to be judged by a tribunal of observation.
Given the numerous advances in technology and the human culture since 350 B.C. and Aristotle s
syllogistic view, it is possible that he could adapt to modern viewpoints by applying means of
demonstrations and scientific deduction in tandem with modern knowledge convey what modern
science currently holds as true. It is also important to know that science is ever changing,

NetLogo: Where We Are, Where We re Going
Paulo Blikstein, Dor Abrahamson, and Uri Wilensky
ABSTRACT
NetLogo [3], a multi agent cross platform modelingand simulation environment, has been enhanced
with new capabilities. We explain selected simulations from our Models Library and describe recent
enhancements (e.g., 3D) and demonstrate extensions
(e.g., music). We focus on H u b N e t [5], a technological infrastructure for facilitating participatory
simulations [6], run these activities with participants, and discuss learning experiences afforded by
these activities.
INTRODUCTION
NetLogo [3] is a multi agent programming and modeling environment for simulating complex
phenomena. It is designed for both research and education and is used across a wide range of
disciplines (e.g., Figure 1, across) and education levels. NetLogo
NetLogo s low threshold, high ceiling design philosophy is inherited from Logo [1]. NetLogo is
simple enough that students and teachers can easily design and run simulations, and advanced
enough to serve as a powerful tool for researchers in many disciplines. Novices will find an easy to
learn, intuitive, and well documented programming language (see Figure 2, across) with an elegant
graphical interface. Researchers can take advantage of NetLogo s advanced features, such as
BehaviorSpace that runs automated experiments, 3D visualization, user extensibility, a System

Why A Long Tail Pro Review
I wanted to do a Long Tail Pro review because I know keyword research is important, and finding
the perfect long tail keywords can increase your success dramatically, but it can also be time
consuming. Getting free and targeted traffic is an important key to blogging success, though, so
doing the keyword research is necessary.
I used Wordtracker for a while, but I didn t find it a good enough fit for me to pay money for it
every month. And, of course, I used the free Google keyword research tool to come up with some
keyword ideas, but that is hugely time consuming, and it doesn t give you all the details you need
to figure out the exact right keywords to target.

Once that s out of the way, it s pretty easy to use. You add a project, enter in the project title, and
then filter what country, language, and network you want to check out. Then click on Create
Project , add your seed keywords the main keywords that have something to do with your site, or
add your own keywords that you want to search for, and then set whatever filters you want, such as
local search volume and advertiser competition.
If you want to search for certain things besides the keywords, such as global search volume,
Google title competition, domain availability, and Bing title competition, it s going to take much
more than a few minutes, but if you are creating a new project, I would recommend it. Giving the
software a few hours to populate all the numbers you need to make an informative decision about
the keywords you want to use is beneficial to your success.
It s important to note that the first time, you will be prompted to log into your Google account, but
don t worry the search that Google has created for you based on your preferences won t interfere
with the accuracy of this software.

Reflection Of The Novels In Shakespeare s Play Titus...
Many texts throughout history can teach the reader enduring life lessons. The ability to reach
beyond boundaries and reach a reader s morality or their understanding, is something that makes a
text timeless. Many texts that were written in the past are still read in many educational settings
today because of their enduring ability to teach lessons that the reader can relate to. Relatability
is another aspect of a text that makes it timeless and makes its words and lessons last forever.
Throughout my educational career I have read countless texts that reach beyond the external
facade, and dig deep into true issues that anyone can relate to. Shakespeare s texts are timeless
because they are written in a way that people from all walks of life can relate to them. His texts
examine the human experience in truly insightful and elegant ways. Shakespeare s portrayals and
representations of human beings in his plays are not much different from our modern perceptions
of humans. Shakespeare studies, portrays, and examines the human condition in many ways and
examines what it is to be human through many different topics or ideas. Some of those ideas are
lust, power, infidelity, war, love, familyrelationships, marriage, friendship, loyalty, betrayal,
madness, jealousy, and revenge. Through these many themes found in Shakespeare s plays he
resonates many lessons that readers can carry with them throughout their life. Many of the lessons
are complex, which is what you would expect from

A Complicated Kindness By Miriam Toews
The current generation is quizzical of the importance that religious teachings hold in our evolving
pro choice society. In past generations, spiritualism was a method of uniting the community and
nurturing the young. However, we find that faith has the adverse effect. While separate from other
religions, a rise in hate fueled discrimination and separatism is observable between different
communities in all corners of the globe. In this generation, it is only logical that as religion is
taught, after learning from present and past events, the very essence of the teachings is skewed and
put into question.
Miriam Toews novel, A Complicated Kindness, explores the aspects of one s interpretation of faith,
their reintegration into society and self improvement. These elements are explored through Natasha
Nickel s formulation of her newfound faith, a step in which she soaks knowledge, questions what
has been learned, and then incorporates the changes into her lifestyle. Through this critical thinking
process, Tash becomes the most logical follower of faith in the community.
Tash s curious nature represents her critical thoughts about God s true love, his meaning and his
reliability. These thoughts mold her unique interpretation of God. This particular thought is observed

The Role Of Household Income With Multiple Aspects Of...
Measure of wealth such as income and assets are commonly considered to be objective assessments
of environmental circumstances, making direct contributions to happiness or life satisfaction.
Certainly, the alternation between and individual s income and life satisfaction is as high as .50 in
some countries. (Krueger, 2006). The relationship of household incomewith multiple aspects of
subjective well being was examined in a New Zealand telephone probability sample conducted in

Despite the belief that more money and possessions would improve our life, evidence shows
that people with a strong financial goal orientation are less satisfied with their lives, less happy
and have more psychological problems. (Dittmar, 2009). Surveys asking people how happy they
are indicate that the average level of happiness has not increased over several decades, despite
large increases in income per capita. For example, in the United States, income per capita has
increase since 1950, yet the percentage of respondents who say they are very happy has not
increase, and the percentage who says they are not very happy has not declined significantly.
(Lee) Similar disconnects between happiness and income has been found in Japan, The United
Kingdom, and continental Europe. Two explanations are often offered. The first explanation is
that any additional happiness from more income results primarily from increasing our relative
income, but we can increase our relative income only by reducing the relative income of others,
which reduces their happiness. The second explanation is that the pursuit of money becomes
addictive and reduces the time available for family and friends, intellectual pursuits, exercise and
other activities that result in genuine happiness and, it is claimed, do not reduce the happiness of
others. Happiness and money are not linked. A person can be really rich and be totally unhappy.
Also a person can be really poor and be happy. Money can bring

Christopher Hitchens studied at Harvard which showed he was a talented writer and user of the

pieces on Bill Clinton and Mother Teresa which he felt very negative and strongly on. His purpose
of this piece was to describe his life changing illness, and try to connect with the reader on an

The Jewish-Roman War
Yet the Romans are not entirely guilt free, according to Josephus, an eyewitness to the destruction,
who writes in his Jewish War:
Pouring into the narrow streets, sword in hand, they massacred indiscriminately those whom they
met, and burned houses of people who fled into them, people and all...they choked the narrow
streets with corpses and deluged the whole city with blood, so that many of the fires were
extinguished by the slaughter...(Jewish War, 6.404 8)
Upon analysing the evidence, one could argue that the Jews were severely oppressed due to their
resistance against Roman occupation. Hence, from the fierce persecution of Jews by Flaccus in 38
AD, and the witnessing of a truly horrifying event the destruction of their sacred temple, ... Show

In the end, as the above evidence shows, the Jews have always been an oppressed group, especially
during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Between 168 165 BC in the Hellenistic era, Syrian
Greek Antiochus rededicated the holy temple to Zeus and condemned Judaism and Jewish
celebrations upon threat of death. During the Roman Empire, Jews were segregated into a small
ghetto and suffered horrifying torture by Alexandrian mobs during the reign of Caligula in 38
AD. Their sacred temple was also destroyed during the First Jewish Roman war in 70 AD. Finally,
the Jews also experienced fierce oppression under Emperor Hadrian from 117 138 AD who, like
Antiochus IV before him, built a temple to Jupiter on the temple ruins and condemned Judaism.
However, he also went one step further and renamed Israel as Syria Palestine, after Israel s enemies.
This led to yet another Jewish diaspora after Jerusalem was turned into a pagan city. The Jews
strange customs and monotheistic religion held them in contempt by other nations, leading to the
oppression depicted above. Although, in some cases, the Jews were simply casualties in war, the
desecration of their temple, outlawing of Judaism, and horrifying torture by the Alexandrian mob,
prove that the Jews should be considered an oppressed group within the ancient

due to the fact of how I can barely comprehend what is being said in the song. Obviously one of
their main hits Smells Like Teen Spirit is placed at beginning of the album to get their fans
hyped for the rest of album. The rest of the songs flowed right into place. First of all, the album
in my opinion exists to bring life to the youth and to have their voices heard. This album can also
exist due to the controversy of the album cover art with the naked baby swimming after a dollar
bill. People have theorized that it was the band s way to get attention or the baby was seen as
symbolism for greed. Another theory is the impact of money and how it can hurt innocence or
society overall. The band never came out with a statement about the album cover which in all

Sand County Almanac was written by Aldo Leopold in 1949. He is a environmentalist and forester
and has helped out with many hunting and conservation magazines. This book is one of the most
inspirational environmental books ever created in the 20th century. It contains several of Leopold s
thoughts about his interactions with nature. Many of the main concepts and foundations of modern
conservation, ecology and land ethic can be found in this book.He explains what it means to be a
person of the land and that people don t care about taking care of the land. Everyone wants what s

The summary of Leopold s work is what should be admired, as Leopold was a pioneer in
changing the American view of the people s place in nature. One of my favorite quotes in the
book was: the modern dogma is comfort at any cost , which is saying that to get comfort, you
have to spend money. Another favorite quote was: is education possibly a process of trading
awareness for things of lesser worth? What I got out of this is that it s saying the true definition
of education and what school is. Leopold s views on the world are very good and they show
how much we don t think about the world and the land ethic. Also, it shows how all we care
about is comfort and convenience. His view of being out with nature is also good because our
world is filled with technology and many people forget about nature and how important it is to
us. The through line that I think defines him is Earth Keeper, his views of how technology and
people hurt nature and how we need to protect it. Nature is such a big part of our lives and we
need to take care of the earth.A topic I was challenged by is the whole aspect of is almost

Adopted Heritage in Alice Walker s Everyday Use Essay
Each of us is raised within a culture, a set of traditions handed down by those before us. As
individuals, we view and experience common heritage in subtly differing ways. Within smaller
communities and families, deeply felt traditions serve to enrich this common heritage. Alice Walker
s Everyday Use explores how, in her eagerness to claim an ancient heritage, a woman may deny
herself the substantive personal experience of familialtraditions.

like the United States of America enacted command and control policies to try and curb the rate of

When the quantities of environmental protection are low for an extensive for an extensive
pollution, then there exists a variety of cheap and easy ways to reduce pollution hence an increase
in marginal benefits. However, if the event that an environmental protection rises, then cheap and
readily available ways of reducing pollution start to decrease hence requiring more costly methods
to be employed. As the extent of environmental regulation rises, additional expenditures related to
environmental protection will most likely lead to increased marginal costs and decreased marginal
benefits. This pattern would suggest that the cost savings and flexibility nature of market oriented
environmental policies would be very important (Harrington Morgenstern, 2013).

Motherhood Is A Successful Woman
In the 21st century, the equality of women is increasing and being encouraged by many. Where
a woman must be able to balance her job, children, and marriage is mostly often seen as being a
successful women. Statistics show the opposite. You do not have to balance a job, children, and
marriage to be a successful woman. Surveys and statistics show that women are also successful if
they stay at home and dedicate all their time to the formation and education of their children.
Sadly, the role of motherhood that was held sacred is little by little falling away and disappearing.
Many centuries ago, motherhood was held sacred, going all the way back to the times of Jesus.
Motherhood should still be held sacred in the age we live in today. The motherof Jesus is a great
model for mothers to follow as she formed and educated her son Jesus. Sacred scriptures and a
most recent pope that was just canonized a saint, tell us about how motherhood is really sacred.
St. Joseph is a great example for a father to follow as St. Joseph was a carpenter and a hard worker.
St. Joseph thought Jesus how to work and Marythought Jesus faith and morals. At a home where
there is a father and a mother figure, it is better for the mother to stay home and for the father to
go out and work. Childhood is the most important part of a child s life. It is important that the child
has a mother figure present, who gives their child love and guidance as they grow up to prevent any
problems in the future.

South Park wanted to show homage to the French satirical paper that published comedic pictures
of Muhammad. The creators dedicated 200 and 201 to the paper after their own convictions;
both episodes would feature Muhammad as well. Comedy Central received threats of extreme
violence if the prophet Muhammad was displayed in any way on the show. The creative group
behind South Park was prepared to endure the repercussions of their comedy. In 200,
Muhammad is in a truck to include, but exclude the character from vision. I think they were
concerned about the approach of giving in to the ultimatum, and essentially backing down
altogether. The boundaries regarding freedom of expression should not adjust to the whims or
threats of bullies otherwise known as terrorists. The network received more threats of terror and

The Whale Rider By Niki Caro
The Whale Rider by Niki Caro is a film about a young girl, Paikea s journey to acceptance from her
grandfather. This film explores many themes such as feminism, family and conflict. One of the
main conflicts explored throughout this film is the conflict between Nanny Flowers and Koro,
Paikea s grandparents. Conflict is an important issue in this film because it causes rupture among an
already fractured family.
The film Whale Rider is based around a family living on the East Coast of New Zealand, in
Whangara. The film revolves around two characters, Koro and his granddaughter Paikea. Koro is
the chief in his village and he is growing old meaning soon he will have to pass down his title.

Nanny Flowers didn t like this gesture and after Koro had said goodbye made him hold her.
Here, hold your granddaughter, Nanny told him. This was an important quote for, during this
time because of Koro s rejection too Paikea the conflict between these two characters ignited.
Nanny Flowers thought this was wrong and stood by Paikea for she was only an innocent child
and Koro was being a blinded man. He was looking for something that didn t exist, a prophet, a
new leader who was going to lead their family to great heights. During this scene, Niki Caro used
some clever camera movement and shot compositions to enhance the message she was trying to
get across. When we see Koro saying goodbye to Pai s brother the shot we see is from behind a
glass wall, behind Nanny Flowers shoulders. This was effective because the shot was made out to
be from Nanny Flowers perspective. Caro also used the wall as a barrier showing that there is
separation between the characters. This was clever of Caro because this event was the beginning of
the conflict between Nanny Flowers and Koro.
Throughout the film the conflict between these characters builds until the very end of the film
when, the conflict reaches its peak. At the end of the film one of the last events is helping a whole
pod of beached whales, back into the sea. After a long night s struggle Paikea gets onto the biggest

Andy Pope of Pop Warhol
The American artist, Andy Warhol, was one of the major influential artists in the late 20th century,
during the pop art movement. One of his art pieces is called Details of Renaissance Paintings
(Sandro Botticelli, Birth of Venus, 1482) made in 1984 and currently located at The Andy Warhol
Museum in his hometown. For all of his art works (printmaking, painting, cinema, photography),
Warhol gives a whole new different perspective and meaning to society, by giving a personality to
his work. The cultural icon once said, In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.
(QuotationsPage.com, 1994). I believe this is true, because no matter the object or celebrity icon,
Warhol gave that chance to everyone and anything that was popular.
His birth name was Andrew Warhola Jr., later changing it to Andy Warholshortly after moving to
New York. He was born on August 6, 1928 and raised in his hometown of Pittsburg,
Pennsylvania. He passed away at 58 years old, from post surgery in New York. His parents were
Julia and Ondrej Warhola, who immigrated to the United States in 1914, from Slovakia after their
parents deceased. Being the youngest of three siblings, he grew up in a different lifestyle than his
siblings. At six years old, Andy was diagnosed with Sydenham s chorea, where he was restricted to
his bed for several months, however he was entertained with his mom artistic skills, teaching him
how to draw, trace, and print images. Also, he collected pictures of

Scarface And The God Family
The God Father is a 1972 mafia movie that was based on Mario Puzo s novel The God Father .
The movie was created by Francis Ford Coppola, which revolved around the Corleone Family
that forms part of the Italian Mafia in New York. The Corleone Family was led by Don Vito
Corleone who had three sons one of which Michael refused to take part in the family business;
however later at the end of the movie he becomes Vito s successor and the next God Father. The
movie is all about the Family underworld business where it is governed by respect and honor. The
family would only show intolerance and ruthlessness to those who break their code of honor and
respect.
Scarface is a 1983 movie directed Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. It revolves
around the life of a Cuban immigrant struggling to gain status, power and respect in Miami. The
movie shows how two Cuban immigrants Tony Montana and Manny Ray rise in the drug cartel
of Miami and become one of the most powerful men in the drug business; however at the end of
the movie Tony Montana is overwhelmed by greed and power; that is when his major down fall
took place; causing a bitter end to Tony Montana (Scarface).
Throughout the entire course of both movies, no matter how much bloodshed or violence was
carried out, the subject of family would always be given the utmost importance. In the movie The
Godfather, family is of paramount importance as it is a family business after all. The family would
always look out for one

when he was young. After years of being raised by his butler, Alfred, he decides that he is going
to kill Joe Chill before he testifies against Mob Boss Falcone. At the courthouse, Bruce stands and
waits, gun in hand. He is too late, for one of Falcone s goons kill Chill before Bruce gets a chance.

Our hero has decided to stick to his moral compass and keep fighting crime, which unfortunately
leads to Rachels death. The Joker has kidnapped Rachel and Harvey in two separate buildings
strapped to a warehouse sized bomb. Batman has to decide between love and law, and he
chooses to save Harvey, as Rachel dies in the timed explosion. 7. Apostasies Batman, having
faced death numerous amounts of times, has become more than just a human. He is able to
fight evil, like never before and he is rewarded, often by glorification. However, this is where the
story plot messes with our minds a little bit, because it isn t Bruce Wayne who receives the
reward of glorification; it is Harvey who attains that feeling. The Joker issues an ultimatum that
people will die each day unless Batman reveals his identity; as a result, Bruce plans to reveal his
identity, but Harvey Dent instead names himself as Batman to protect the truth. Batman
encounters more decisions to make; he must sacrifice himself to the city he loves. He merely
must become the villain, in order for true peace to exist in Gotham. 8. Refusal Of Return Having
reached his goals, having saved his people, Batman doesn t see a need to return to normal life
and pain. When The Dark Knight Rises story begins, Bruce Wayne is now a deep hiding in his
manor. A source of stories and tales suggest tales of him being messed up and disfigured. John Blake

Dosophila Larval Orn Experiment
The major conclusion from this study is that individual Drosophila larval ORN s are differentially
modulated by animal s starved state. We conclude this based on the following experimental
evidence: First, when we tested the olfactory responses of Drosophila larvae under starved
conditions, using the two choice assay (Monte, Woodard et al. 1989), (Kreher, Mathew et al. 2008)
we observed changes in RI for only three out of the seven odorants tested. This experimental result
supports previous work from Mathew et al., 2013, which demonstrated functional diversity among
individual ORNs. Starved larvae had higher attractiveness to odorants acetal, pentyl acetate and 4, 5
dimethylthiazole. Each of these odorants elicit strong and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We have observed that acetal, 2, 5 dimethylpyrazine had higher run speed and run length in case
of non starved larvae while for pentyl acetate, the starved larvae had higher run speed and run
length. As of now we cannot explain the reason for this reversed trend in the case of pentyl
acetate. However, with the trends that we have observed for acetal and 2, 5 dimethylpyrazine
we conclude that not all ORN s show similar tracking effect under starvation. Each ORN is
functionally diverse and act as functionally non equivalent units. From our results, overall, we
conclude that ORNs contribute differently to the olfactory circuit under changes in internal
states such as starvation. These results further support previous studies regarding existence of
functional individuality among neurons (Mathew, Martelli et al. 2013). Starved state of the
animal impacts olfactory behavior via GABA signaling As mentioned previously, local neurons
secrete GABA and LN s are primarily GABAergic interneurons (Ng, Roorda et al. 2002). Olfactory
receptor neurons express GABA (B) receptors (Root, Masuyama et al. 2008) and strikingly each
ORN channel has unique baseline levels of GABA (B) receptor expression in adult flies (Root et
al., 2008). When the levels of GABA (B) R1 in ORN::Or 42b and in ORN::Or 47a were decreased
we observed no effect on starvation dependent behavior

Positive Changes In The Progressive Era
As the world came into a new century, United States flew to a new era. No longer were
Americans willing to huddle in the shadows of their rich neighbors, no longer were they willing to
be used as cheap labor, and no longer were they willing to stay quiet. The Progressive Era hit
United States with full force, screeching to halt corruption and sexist discrimination. However, as
one part of Americans experienced positive change the other part was discriminated against. The
Progressive Movement changed America extensively, yet that change was not positive for all.
A central issue of the Progressive Movement was political corruption. For many years Political
Machines plagued urban areas, bribing immigrants for votes in exchange for jobs. Moreover,
government positions were awarded for political affiliation ... Show more content on

During the early 1900 s many progressives were females looking to legacy of positive change. A
large reform movement that women were involved in was the Settlement House movement.
Popularized by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr who opened the Hull House, Settlement
Houses boarded middle class workers (many females) that would live in between urban slums to
help out the poor though medical knowledge and the sharing of education. These types of reforms
not only helped the poor and unfortunate, but also granted females more power. Female
organizations, like the National American Woman Suffrage Association, grew in size, and females
were able to transform their traditional social roles into public and political roles. Through these
types of reforms, women were able to obtain broader support for female suffrage, and in 1920 the
19th amendment was adopted prohibiting the government from denying U.S. citizens the right to
vote based on gender. While the Progressive Era was progressively transforming the lives of
females for the better, minorities seemed to have been left in the

Implications Of Fiar Cut Adverts And Laser Cut Polipulations
Because each insert contained a different amount of fibers, the fiber mass at each time point was
converted to a percentage of the original fiber mass. As expected, the data shows a decrease in
fiber mass for both scissor cut inserts and laser cut inserts. Overall, the scissor cut inserts had a
greater loss than the inserts cut by the laser. Laser cutting had the greatest effected on the adhesion
of polystyrene to a polystyrene base. Polystyrene fibers were light and thin and often gets attracted
to anything that comes within a centimeter of it. Laser cutting helped contain the fibers on the
insert. From the ten second point on, there was significant difference between the fiber mass
remaining on the inserts (p ≤ 0.0179). After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our inserts are an integral part of the modular system. Therefore, the fiber coated inserts need to
be reliable. It is in our best interest to make sure the fibers, to which the cells are attached,
adhere to the insert despite the many transitions from Petri dish to analytical device to further
investigation. Laser cutting provides many advantages to cutting inserts. Hundreds of inserts can
be cut in minutes. The reproducibility is inimitable; each piece can be exactly the same size.
The idea that the laser would also fuse the layer of fibers into place would be a considerable
advantage. This data and SEM images support the idea that laser cutting sinters the fibers to the
insert. SEM images show polystyrene fibers melted into the polystyrene perimeter. As the laser
blasts through the polystyrene base, it plows the malleable polymer in both directions
perpendicular to the cut. The result is a raised perimeter around, and a thin connection between,
the inserts. The inserts were imaged at an angle to investigate the interface of fibers and raised
edge. At a 30В° to normal and 300x magnification, the smooth raised border can be seen. The
fibers spread underneath, but where the fibers extend on the underside of the border, there are
bumps. At the very least, we can say the fibers are tucked underneath the polystyrene border, which
would increase the adherence, but further inference would lead us to

Mad Men Essay
The influence of the media on women is not unknown, but it was especially prevalent in the
1960s. According to David Croteau and William Hoynes, both professors of sociology, Media
images of women and men reflect and reproduce a whole set of stereotypical but changing gender
roles (quoted in Mahrdt 1) and, as society changes and opinions are altered, television shows adapt.
However, the television show Mad Menis unique because it does not show life today, but the life of
the 1960s. It shows what life was like for the women who lived during a time when the feminine
mystique controlled society.
While Mad Men may seem to be just another sexist show dominated by chauvinist men and
submissive women, it is, in fact, a time piece. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Betty is a college graduate who worked as a model for a short time before marrying Don. Soon
after they married, Betty gave birth to their two children. The episode The Wheel shows that
Betty and Don were happy at first, but their current life is everything but content. Betty does not
know why she is unhappy though. All she knows is that she should be happy. The women of
this time were told their role was to seek fulfillment as wives and mothers (Friedan 15).
However, Betty Draper is miserable, bored, and lonely. In episode two of season one, Ladies
Room, Betty is shown losing control of her hands while driving. While Betty is unnerved and
scared, this ailment was not uncommon for housewives. Betty is told that losing control of her
hands is not a physical abnormality, but a psychological one. During this time, Freud and many
others had noticed this problem. Unfortunately, according to Dr. Stephanie Newman, a
psychoanalyst from New York, most of them believed this disorder was merely repressed sexual
impulses (Newman 94). While this theory was partly right, Betty s problem was an issue of
emotions not being expressed: it had nothing to do with sex and having more sex would not cure
her. Her problem was a conversion symptom, so named because the disorder arises when
unacceptable emotions are unconsciously turned into something physical (Newman 96). This was
not caused by suppressed sexual emotions; but from having to force down the need to be

  • 2. Atrial And Ventricular Septal Defects ATRIAL AND VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECTS Yulissa R. De Leon June 26, 2016 BS 104 ME1 Dr. Ali Saleh A ventricular septal defect or VSD is a heart defect. It s congenital, this means that a baby is born with it. It is an opening or hole in the dividing wall called the Septum, between the two lower chambers of the heart, right and left ventricles. Ventricular septal defects are the most common type of congenital heart defects. A VSD allows oxygen rich bloodto pass from the left ventricle through the opening in the septum. Then it mixes with oxygen poor blood in the right ventricle. There are different types of ventricular septal defects, the type your child has depends on which part of the wall between the ventricles is involved. Also the size of the opening or hole varies. A ventricular septal defect may occur more often in some families, this is because of gene defects. But most of the time, the cause is unknown. Similarly to ventricular septal defect, an Atrial septal defect is a birth defect of the heart in which there is also a hole in the wall in the septum, but instead of dividing the lower chambers it divides the upper chambers of the heart (atria), here a hole can vary in size and may close on its own or may require surgery as well. An atrial septal defect is one type of congenital heart defect, in which also the baby is born with it. For both Atrial and Ventricular septal defect the size of the opening or hole affects how severe the child s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Song Of Roland Analysis Hatred and Wealth Many readers of The Song of Roland find that the hatred and belittling of Roland and Ganelon is very evident but is not really explained why they hate each other. It is easily seen they have a relationship as step father and step son that can be quite full of altercations in most cases yet, Roland is still not letting friends such as Oliver talk about Ganelon even when they have noticed being set up for death. The scholar T. Atkinson Jenkins has looked into reasons for the hatred and treason that occur in the journal Why Did Ganelon Hate Roland? Jenkins provides many options to Ganelon s hatred for Roland. To me the most illuminating thing is the way hatred mostly likely was built on wealth, and today many people find the same reasons to be jealous and even hate others. Throughout the Jenkins essay he uses the Ganelon prosecution which was not read in class, but can be summarized best as Ganelon revoking being a traitor, and stating, It was Roland who cheated me of gold and goods; and so I made him suffer and die... (Unknown 1310). His fellow kinsmen asked king Charlemagne to set Ganelon free and Charlemagne is distraught by their words and calls all the men traitors (1311). Jenkins finds most every account of Ganelon and Roland participating in name calling, and crazily in the passage no one seems to pay any attention to the disgrace. Throughout the essay Jenkins finds quotes such as my poor imitation of a father (120) from using words such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There will be a huge cost advantage for RLK from the start and hence this reduces risk that the company will face should the product fail to meet market demands. As there are time differences, distance and other factors to consider, the lack of interaction between the teams may cause friction between them and thus create a big problem for RLK. There is a big cultural difference between Ray s R D team and Inova. This may cause both teams to be uncooperative and show a lack of enthusiasm in handling this project. Besides, RLK s brand equity may be at risk by outsourcing as the consumers expectation of RLK is that their products are designed and produced in the United States. 3. Hire a few more software engineer talents to strengthen RLK s long term in house capabilities and transfer a few of his R D leaders to Gurgaon for training.Having more software talents in RLK will satisfy Ray s request and at the same time, strengthening the R D department s ability to meet long term obligations By going overseas, the engineers can help to facilitate communication between both teams and monitor things over at Inova s side.Ray may still be unhappy with the thought of collaborating with Inova even if Lars grants his request of expanding the R D department in RLK. RLK may suffer losses if the partnership with Inova turns sour and the Intellectual property remains with Inova. D)Explanation of Application of Course ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Napoleon returned to France, but the Russian British alliance soon took Paris, and after realizing that he could not recreate his army, he abdicated and went into exile. King Louis XVI s brother was allowed to rule again as King Louis XVIII. However, once King Louis XVIII came to power, many emigrates returned and demanded revenge on revolutionaries. Napoleon took this chance to return to France as well, where discontented soldiers welcomed him with open arms. In March 1815, he began to rebuild his army. It took him one hundred days. However, the British allies acted quickly, and he was crushed in June at the Battle of Waterloo. The Battle of Waterloo was the infamous conflict that marked the official end of Napoleon s reign. In this novel, the main character, Dorian Gray, has his soul trapped in a portrait which ages and records every soul corrupting sin. Two main themes can be defined in this novel: desire, which is a strong feeling of wanting to have something, or wishing something to happen; and pleasure, a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment. Therefore, forbidden pleasures and dark desires lead Dorian Gray to be doomed. To start with, we could say that Basil Hallward was the one who launched it all. Firstly, he was the one to paint the picture and also the one to introduce Dorian Gray to Lord Henry. But we can also say that Lord Henry, with his hedonism ideas, was the main influence in Dorian s actions. Having no idea whatsoever of the world as it is, Dorian was ignorant and innocent about it. Then receiving ideas that pleasure is the means to life, he accepted them as universal truth, without questioning them at all. And as soon as he began to believe in such things, everything fell apart. Lord Henry finds confusing Dorian a source of pleasure, and he does not care if Dorian is going down a path of destruction, by his philosophy,if it is amusing, it is good. Dorian only valued Sybil as an aesthetic object. She was a living work of art, and when she couldn t act anymore, she lost all of her value in the eyes of Dorian. He then broke up his engagement. As a sign of what he was doing wrong, his painting showed the mark of his break up with Sybil, which meant that it was also a pain to his soul, and it was the first time that the painting altered its appearance. Essay about Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes To Yellow Sky Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky Stephen Crane s The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky, as well as his other Western stories, owe much to Mark Twain s approach to the West. According to Eric Solomon, both authors...used humor to comment on the flaws of traditional fictional processes (237). While employing parody of the Western literary tradition, Crane also uses realism to depict the influence of the East on the West. Introduction This paper will zero in on compare and contrast two different regions which are Bordeaux and Burgundy in the same field: location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes. Discuss the early history of the development of each region, including the specific examples. Then review the location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes that rank the wines as among the best in the world. To conclude, look into the future of each region to analyze prospects for continued success. The history of Bordeaux Wine The history of the Bordeaux wine region dates back to the ancient Romans who were the first people to cultivate, plant vineyards and produce Bordeaux wine. The Romans took over the area in about 60 BC, and it was starting to earn fame for its wines as far back as in 1152 when Henry of England wed Eleanor of Aquitaine, who controlled the region. The Bordeaux appellation was perfect for cultivating grapes for wine. It offered the unique combination of the right soil for growing grapes used in the production of wine coupled with easy access to the Garonne river, which was needed to help ship the wines. Because after a series of attacks on the city in 1206, greater freedom was granted, so it lead to the 12th century became the start of Bordeaux s golden age. • 12. The Homelessness Of Homeless Youth Essay Homeless individuals can be easily detected in our society. They are the individuals dressed in drab clothing asking for money, the people sleeping on park benches in the middle of the night, and the people who we judge when they beg for money wondering why they don t get a job. They are judged under a certain narrative that reduces the homeless individual into their current state of being (Lancione, 2013). To understand homelessnessone should not only look at the current condition of the individuals but also look at the discourse of factors and events that led homeless individuals into their current states. Homeless youth although hard to spot are still very much a current problem in our society. Many youth fall in between the cracks of the system and are forced to find different ways to produce some sort of income. There is a strong stigma involved when it comes to homeless youth and many face dangers and a great amount of stress while living on the streets (Kidd, 2007). Many of the homeless youth find it difficult to survive and often don t have shelter and are always hungry (Kidd, 2007). To support themselves, many homeless youth find themselves engaging in prostitution as a means of income and survival (Kidd, 2007). It is not enough to look at the current state of homeless youth but also important to understand the different factors that lead them to making certain decisions; it is no ones first choice to participate in illegal work. (HIT Knowledgebase, 2012) Despite the fact that anywhere from 75 to 500 CHINs existed or were in the planning stages during the 1990s, most failed to survive. There are several reasons that led to this failure. First, there was a lack of focus on community stakeholders. (Vest and Gamm, 2010) In addition, technology vendors, who were building the systems to collect fees associated with electronic transmission, seemed to pit the interests of hospitals against those of community physicians. Finally, there was no clear return on investment. Thus, the group quickly became well known in Brazil for its musical fragmentation gathering multiple musical genres. After several TV appearances, the media started paying close attention to the economic situation in Arcoverde, a situation that could take years to be fixed due to the change of political regime. Indeed, their apocalyptic musical style criticizing poverty, violence, and drought was a fragmented and declamatory way of seeing the future through the lens of the past, in other words, they incorporated national and regional themes within the negative aesthetics of Death Metal (Sharp 2014). Sharp, then, explained that Coco RaГz had two ironic representation: one is the mud hut replica used as a museum; this iconic representation was built after Lula Calixto s death (founder of the group Coco Raiz), Lula died of Chagas disease, a disease generalized at the time due to the mud hut houses as it is a propitious place for the procreation of the triatomine bug. Another ironic observation made by Sharp is seeing Coco RaГzes working to spread their afro Brazilian musical form and making it predominant in a white and mestiГ§o interior backlands. Coco RГЎizes was using the past to argue in present trying to create a better future. The author does not go into translation details sometimes, therefore it becomes difficult to understand what he is trying to say. Another critic in this book would be Sharp s methodology, he did not want to learn how to play Samba de Coco, instead he wanted to analyze the two groups as a journalist, for he felt that asking too much for musical instructions would somehow affect his relationship with the musicians. Aristotle lacked the technical and conceptual tools utilized by modern science in his endeavors to explain why something is true instead of the statement that something it is true. Utilizing the Aristotelian invention of syllogism, Aristotle s logic followed that if the premises for an explanation of a phenomena is valid, as is the form, then the conclusion will be that of scientific truth. While Aristotle erred in his findings in many of the various scientific realms, such as a geocentric versus heliocentric solar system, his scientific application of syllogism gave way to modern scientific empiricism which is the idea that an abstract argument must be supported by factual evidence and for the theory to be judged by a tribunal of observation. Given the numerous advances in technology and the human culture since 350 B.C. and Aristotle s syllogistic view, it is possible that he could adapt to modern viewpoints by applying means of demonstrations and scientific deduction in tandem with modern knowledge convey what modern science currently holds as true. While separate from other religions, a rise in hate fueled discrimination and separatism is observable between different communities in all corners of the globe. In this generation, it is only logical that as religion is taught, after learning from present and past events, the very essence of the teachings is skewed and put into question. For example, in the United States, income per capita has increase since 1950, yet the percentage of respondents who say they are very happy has not increase, and the percentage who says they are not very happy has not declined significantly. (Lee) Similar disconnects between happiness and income has been found in Japan, The United Kingdom, and continental Europe. Two explanations are often offered. The first explanation is that any additional happiness from more income results primarily from increasing our relative income, but we can increase our relative income only by reducing the relative income of others, which reduces their happiness. The second explanation is that the pursuit of money becomes addictive and reduces the time available for family and friends, intellectual pursuits, exercise and other activities that result in genuine happiness and, it is claimed, do not reduce the happiness of others. The younger daughter, Maggie, like her mother, lacks the education and style important to her sister. She carries scars on her arms from the fire that destroyed their house, reads clumsily to her mother, and knows she is not bright (Walker 92). With increasing anxiety, Maggie awaits Dee s visit, and upon Dee s arrival, actually attempts to escape into the house. Her mother forces her to stay with her in the yard to greet Dee and her new husband. However Dee may wish them to be, this is who they are. Dee personifies her own values. At sixteen she had a style of her own: and knew what style was (Walker 92). With her husband, she arrives at her mother s home in a brightly colored dress, adorned with flashy jewelry, her hair in a fashionable style unfamiliar to Maggie and her mother. Dee retrieves her camera from the car and takes pictures of her mother and sister in front of the house. This is the reason countries like the United States of America enacted command and control policies to try and curb the rate of pollution of the environment (Davies Mazurek, 2014 ). As the extent of environmental regulation rises, additional expenditures related to environmental protection will most likely lead to increased marginal costs and decreased marginal benefits. • 36. Motherhood Is A Successful Woman In the 21st century, the equality of women is increasing and being encouraged by many. Where a woman must be able to balance her job, children, and marriage is mostly often seen as being a successful women. Statistics show the opposite. You do not have to balance a job, children, and marriage to be a successful woman. Surveys and statistics show that women are also successful if they stay at home and dedicate all their time to the formation and education of their children. Sadly, the role of motherhood that was held sacred is little by little falling away and disappearing. Many centuries ago, motherhood was held sacred, going all the way back to the times of Jesus. Motherhood should still be held sacred in the age we live in today. The motherof Jesus is a great model for mothers to follow as she formed and educated her son Jesus. Sacred scriptures and a most recent pope that was just canonized a saint, tell us about how motherhood is really sacred. St. Joseph is a great example for a father to follow as St. Joseph was a carpenter and a hard worker. St. Joseph thought Jesus how to work and Marythought Jesus faith and morals. At a home where there is a father and a mother figure, it is better for the mother to stay home and for the father to go out and work. Childhood is the most important part of a child s life. It is important that the child has a mother figure present, who gives their child love and guidance as they grow up to prevent any problems in the future. Pope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The creative group behind South Park was prepared to endure the repercussions of their comedy. In 200, Muhammad is in a truck to include, but exclude the character from vision. Conflict is an important issue in this film because it causes rupture among an already fractured family. The film Whale Rider is based around a family living on the East Coast of New Zealand, in Whangara. The film revolves around two characters, Koro and his granddaughter Paikea. During this scene, Niki Caro used some clever camera movement and shot compositions to enhance the message she was trying to get across. This was effective because the shot was made out to be from Nanny Flowers perspective. Caro also used the wall as a barrier showing that there is separation between the characters. We conclude this based on the following experimental evidence: First, when we tested the olfactory responses of Drosophila larvae under starved conditions, using the two choice assay (Monte, Woodard et al. 1989), (Kreher, Mathew et al. 2008) we observed changes in RI for only three out of the seven odorants tested. This experimental result supports previous work from Mathew et al., 2013, which demonstrated functional diversity among individual ORNs. Starved larvae had higher attractiveness to odorants acetal, pentyl acetate and 4, 5 dimethylthiazole. Each of these odorants elicit strong and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have observed that acetal, 2, 5 dimethylpyrazine had higher run speed and run length in case of non starved larvae while for pentyl acetate, the starved larvae had higher run speed and run length. As of now we cannot explain the reason for this reversed trend in the case of pentyl acetate. However, with the trends that we have observed for acetal and 2, 5 dimethylpyrazine we conclude that not all ORN s show similar tracking effect under starvation. Each ORN is functionally diverse and act as functionally non equivalent units. From our results, overall, we conclude that ORNs contribute differently to the olfactory circuit under changes in internal states such as starvation. These results further support previous studies regarding existence of functional individuality among neurons (Mathew, Martelli et al. 2013). Starved state of the animal impacts olfactory behavior via GABA signaling As mentioned previously, local neurons secrete GABA and LN s are primarily GABAergic interneurons (Ng, Roorda et al. 2002). Olfactory receptor neurons express GABA (B) receptors (Root, Masuyama et al. 2008) and strikingly each ORN channel has unique baseline levels of GABA (B) receptor expression in adult flies (Root et al., 2008). The Progressive Era hit United States with full force, screeching to halt corruption and sexist discrimination. These types of reforms not only helped the poor and unfortunate, but also granted females more power. Female organizations, like the National American Woman Suffrage Association, grew in size, and females were able to transform their traditional social roles into public and political roles. Through these types of reforms, women were able to obtain broader support for female suffrage, and in 1920 the 19th amendment was adopted prohibiting the government from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote based on gender. Implications Of Fiar Cut Adverts And Laser Cut Polipulations Because each insert contained a different amount of fibers, the fiber mass at each time point was converted to a percentage of the original fiber mass. As expected, the data shows a decrease in fiber mass for both scissor cut inserts and laser cut inserts. Overall, the scissor cut inserts had a greater loss than the inserts cut by the laser. Laser cutting had the greatest effected on the adhesion of polystyrene to a polystyrene base. Polystyrene fibers were light and thin and often gets attracted to anything that comes within a centimeter of it. Laser cutting helped contain the fibers on the insert. Our inserts are an integral part of the modular system. Therefore, the fiber coated inserts need to be reliable. It is in our best interest to make sure the fibers, to which the cells are attached, adhere to the insert despite the many transitions from Petri dish to analytical device to further investigation. Laser cutting provides many advantages to cutting inserts. Hundreds of inserts can be cut in minutes. The reproducibility is inimitable; each piece can be exactly the same size. The idea that the laser would also fuse the layer of fibers into place would be a considerable advantage. This data and SEM images support the idea that laser cutting sinters the fibers to the insert. SEM images show polystyrene fibers melted into the polystyrene perimeter. As the laser blasts through the polystyrene base, it plows the malleable polymer in both directions perpendicular to the cut. The result is a raised perimeter around, and a thin connection between, the inserts. The inserts were imaged at an angle to investigate the interface of fibers and raised edge. At a 30В° to normal and 300x magnification, the smooth raised border can be seen. The fibers spread underneath, but where the fibers extend on the underside of the border, there are bumps. At the very least, we can say the fibers are tucked underneath the polystyrene border, which would increase the adherence, but further inference would lead us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
