Marshall Island Research Paper
Imagine waking up to a flooded house. Your home, your life, changed over night. This fear is a
prominent and existent fear for the natives of the Marshall Islands. In the heart of the Pacific
Ocean halfway between Hawaii and Australia lies one of the most remote inhabited places on the
planet. The Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI) consists of 29 coral atolls comprising 1,156
individual islands and islets, distributed across 750,000 square miles of tropical ocean in two
nearly parallel chains (Pacheco). With climate changebecoming a bigger issue and ocean levels
rising, the Marshallese are slowly watching their homes, passed loved ones, and even agriculture be
wiped away by the waves that are sinking their islands. Climate change has... Show more content on

Without attempting to slow it down, we risk losing an entire country. However, we don t only
use lose the islands, we also lose a home to thousands, the largest shark sanctuary in the world,
and a beautiful, tropical paradise. The research has been done and the evidence has been
gathered, it is now our job to educate the world on the issue of climate change and what we can
do to decrease its disastrous speed. If not, the Marshall Islands will drown completely, only to be
survived by their past inhibitors and the pages of history

The Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution
Gulf of Tonkin Resolution The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was a resolution that stated that the
president could take any and all action necessary in Vietnam. This was spurred by a supposed
attack on a United States gun boat in the Gulf of Tonkin. A point of comparison to the Gulf of
Tonkin Resolution could be the declaration of war following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On
December 7th, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) launched a large bombing mission against
the ships and the soldiers at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After this event, the original idea to try and keep
the United Statesout of World War II was abandoned and the United States began to churn out
military equipment and supplies to combat the Axis powers. In both cases, the seemingly correct
thing to do was considered to be obvious.
Reagan s Tear Down the Wall speech Ronald Reagan s Tear Down the Wall speech commanded
Mikhail Gorbachev to dismantle the Berlin Wall, which divided Berlin between the Capitalist West
and Communist East. A point of comparison that can be drawn between this speech and another is
Booker T. Washington s Alabama Exposition Address. In Washington s speech, he discusses how
African Americans would be dedicated workers alongside whites if whites cast down their buckets
to African Americans to help them to find work. In Washington s mind, allowing African
Americans to have economic prosperity would, in turn, allow them to finally be free. This is
similar to the fall of the

Zika Virus Pathogenesis within the Nervous System The zika is a member of Flaviviridae family

Dr. Kellie Ann Jurado and her team are extremely important for modern society since it s a major
health problem that even affected Floridian residents. Sika virushas caused a recent epidemic and
spread in the Americas. The zika virus is not a new virus but only recently is has being more
studied it was isolated from monkeys in 1947. The spread of the zika was relatively silence since
the pathogenic consequences it cause were not as great as other viruses. When the sika virus hit

Wasted Food Essay
Every year, billions of pounds of food are wasted throughout the world. It is important to realize
that this is an enormous problem. This is a problem by cause of countless people could have
prevented it by just starting their meal with less food. Misunderstanding the consequences of food
waste, people don t even understand how much food they wastethroughout their lives. Food that
we throw out results in so abounding problems and wastes of needed resources. Wasted food is a
strong loss as a result of wasted water, money and food for others in need. Moreover, food is a
considerable loss considering it results in wasted water. In the article titled, When You Waste Food,
You re Wasting
Tons Of Water, Too , it says, According to the World Resources Institute, an
environmental think tank, inside the 1.3 billion tons of food wasted every year worldwide is 45
trillion gallons of water. Another article titled, Wasted Food=Wasted Water it tells us, When you
crunch the numbers, about 25 percent of all freshwater consumed annually in the US is associated
with discarded food. Having trouble visualizing how much water that is? Well, on a global scale,
by one clever comparison, it s a little more than the volume of Lake Erie. This information tells us
that when people throw out the extra food on our plate that you couldn t finish, overall, people are
wasting so much water. Everyone wastes so much water through not taking smaller portions of food
that it equals more than the

Critical Analysis Of Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a kind of a precious blue stone. (Marc 1998) Lapis Lazuli referred to in this poem
was given to Yeats on his seventieth birthday (as a present) by Mr. Harry Clifton. In this essay I
am going to critically analyse this poem in relation to its context. This means that in relation to time
and place. I will then conclude by commenting on the language aspects and give an account as to
why he chose to use certain conventions and words.
In discussing the relationship between art and politics For everybody knows or else should
know that if nothing drastic is done, aeroplane and zeppelin will come out. Pitch like king billy
bomb balls in until the town lie beaten flat Marc (1998) articulates that this poem opens up with
a description of the fear of war, and panic that caught Europe during the period 1935 1939. He
further observed that this was the time of deep despair. This means that one grew up for the
foreknowledge that war more dangerous than the first one was possible. Lines of extreme fear
and violence were growing and people were shaking with fear of air raids, and raining incendiary
bombs in cities and citizens.
The main purpose of this poem is to critically reflect on human ... Show more content on

Dissociative Disorder
Somatic and Dissociative Syndromes
Let us start by defining somatic symptom disorder, malingering, factitious disorder, and
dissociative disorders according to the DSM 5. A somatic symptom disorder is a disorder in which
persons become excessively distressed, concerned, and anxious, about bodily symptoms they are
experiencing. Malingering is intentionally faking to achieve some external gains, such as financial
compensation or military deferment. Factitious disorder is a disorder in which an individual feigns
or induces physical symptoms, typically for the purpose of assuming the role of a sick person. A
dissociative disorder is a disorder marked by major changes in memory that do not have clear
physical causes. Are all of these disorder legit? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is mental disorder where an individual overthinks about his/her symptoms. Thoughts are harder
to control than physical actions in my opinion and this is a disorder that is brought up because of
thoughts and emotions. When discussing conversion disorder, a disorder in which medically
unexplained bodily symptoms affect voluntary motor and sensory functions, the emotions that are
so hard to get rid of actually induce physical symptoms. Our mind and bodies are connected more
than we think and this disorder proves it. I find this disorder difficult to question is legitimacy
because the symptoms are real. Even though the doctors cannot find physical causes, they can find
physical proof of the disorder.
The last disorder to discuss is dissociative disorder. A dissociative disorder is similar to a conversion
disorder in that there are no physical reasons for the symptoms but the symptoms are real. Even
though clinicians cannot find physical causes, there must be something that happens with patients
of this disorder because most of the time the disorder appears more than once in patients. Whether
there is a small biological defective or a mental mishap, there is something that happens to patients
that makes them adopt the symptoms of this

Virtual Meeting Platform Plays A Crucial Role
As technology is advancing, more tools have emerged in the workplaces to increase the
productivity and efficiency of the corporate. Large corporate nowadays has unemployed larger
ratio of human capital to decrease cost and most importantly, increase the efficiency because of
automation of technology. Arguments on regard to this has been going on and off constantly and
people all have a common question in mind, if the efficiency really means what it supposed to be?
Of all the technologies we are utilized currently, virtual meeting platform plays a crucial role. The
use of virtual meeting platform has significantly shorten the time employees spend on client s site,
decreased travel expenseand enable the employee to discuss with client at the convenience of their
home or office. However, bottom lines are not proving to increase significantly as expected due to
lack of personal contact (trust) value, learning value and group synergy gain value.
Review/Analysis of the Case According to Eilif Trondsen, He mentioned The trend toward a
virtual workplace is driven by growing numbers of workers spending too much time in the field,
interacting with customers, business partners, and collaborators and spending less time in
traditional office . Due to the costly time and expense on traveling to customer s site, most
corporates are not hesitated to switching to virtual meeting. Employer now can hire less people
since they can do the web training and conference online while saving time

I discovered 11 new proteins which are decisive factors in the biological formation of invertebrates.
The functions of proteins allowed us to understand how a huge number of invertebrates interact
with the environment and how they respond to global climate change. Because of my discovery
and outstanding achievements in the doctoral and postdoctoral programs, I received President
Award from the University of the Ryukyus and many awards from international scientific forums.
Using these emerging environmental innovative approaches, I performed whole proteomics
analyses in calcifying marine invertebrates and discovered how and which extracellular proteins
(e.g., ECMP 67) are responsible for making calcite mineral in their skeletons and subsequently
explored how some invertebrates (e.g. octocorals) defy their environments (see http:/

following the environmental proteomics approach, I identified key functional new proteins
(including Ca2+ binding and glycosylation proteins), genes and enzyme which are involved in the
biological process of the chemical formation of calcium carbonate skeleton in corals. These findings
are very important for understanding the biodiversity of ecosystems, calcification process,
chemistry of the oceans, and environmental change signals. Using

Negative Effects Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War brought an immense amount of tension and anger to the United States. Many
innocent lives of both Americans and Vietnam citizens were taken during the Vietnam War. The
war affected the United States in a predominately negative way. The spread of media, multiple
bombings, and distress in America caused such tribulation. Consequently, the Vietnam War caused
more harm than help to South Vietnam, as well as the United States.
Media emerged as a major factor in people s opinion on the war. The media showed photographs
of wounded soldiers on stretchers in Vietnam. Photograph and videos were shown to citizens,
giving them a new perspective on what was really happening in the war. Even videos of napalm
drops were recorded and Americans were finally able to view the reality of the war. Americans were
shocked to realize that this is what soldiers dealt with in Vietnam. Americans were also able to see
the environment that the soldiers had to live in as well. Vietnam was a jungle environment, which
was extremely unfamiliar to Americans. The United States participated in multiple bombings
throughout the course of the war. Operation Rolling Thunder contributed to a majority of these
deaths. Operation Rolling Thunder was initiated by President Lyndon B. Johnson. This sustained
bombing of North Vietnam caused over 900 U.S. aircrafts to be destroyed. Many Americans were
killed as well. This bombing was put into effect to hopefully get the North to stop supplying the

Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Essay
Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements
Visual representation of reality, as seen through mass media, is acknowledged by sociologists to
be influential in shaping people s views of the world. Our everyday realities are articulated
mostly by what we see in the media. The role of advertising in this interpretation of reality is
crucial. The target audience s self identification with the images being a basic prerequisite for an
advertisement s effectiveness, makes advertising one of the most important factors in the building
of behavior models and values systems. The way a certain notion is managed at a visual level
determines how people will perceive this notion and whether they will identify with it or not.

I intend to look at these ads as a group of 20, looking at collective similarities among them and any
common stereotypes and themes in the way these ads portray men. I also intend to examine any
general differences between the ads fro the men s magazines, and those from the women s
magazines, as well as differences along product lines.
I expect to see reinforcement of the stereotypes discussed in Denise Kervin s study as well as the
stereotypes delineated by other authors cited in this paper. I expect that these reinforcements will
occur as much as, but in a different way than is seen earlier in time as discussed in the various
literature cited in this paper. I also expect that these stereotypes will be equally present, yet will
manifest themselves differently depending on the target audience and product being pitched.
Dominant discourses surrounding gender encourage us to accept that the human race is naturally
divided in to male and female, each gender realistically identifiable by a set of immutable
characteristics. In Foucault s terms, relations of difference are social constructs belonging to social
orders that contain hierarchies of power, defined, named and delimited by institutional discourses,
to produce social practices. Gender differences are symbolic categories (Saco, 1992:25). These
categories are used to ascribe certain characteristics to men

In Chinese history they are known as the Five Overlords in the Spring and Autumn Period . In the
latter part of the Spring and Autumn period, two states, Wu and Yue became even more powerful
and contended for overall hegemony. Finally Yue was defeated, and submitted to Wu. However,
Gou Jian, the king of Yue, continuously galled by his defeat decided to seek revenge.
Simultaneously, he trained his army, and developed agriculture. Eventually, Yue State became
strong enough and defeated Wu. According to recorded history, during the Spring and Autumn
Period, there were over 480 wars, 52 vassal states were vanquished, and 36 kings were killed.
During the Spring and Autumn Period the imperial house, with priestly, ritualistic, and diplomatic
functions but with diminishing authority, slowly sank out of sight as the local nobles struggled
with one another for power. Survival required coalitions, both political and economic, as well as the
accumulation of productive wealth. To this end, many drainage operations, canals, dikes, reservoirs,

Up to twenty million people died because of the power and influence of one man. This man was

Plato s Teachings Of Philosophy
Plato was a well known philosopher who lived during the time of the distinguished Greek
philosophers. He was born into a wealthy and very noble family in the Athens. In the midst of
preparation for his life long career as a politician, the young Plato witnessed the trial and eventual
execution of Socrates. Little did he or anyone know this would ultimately lead him to completely
abandon his political career and become one of the world s most distinguished philosophers.
Although Platos teachings are not universally agreed upon, virtually anyone can agree that that he
was a brilliant thinker and spurred many thoughts and beliefs that are carried into today s teachings
of philosophy. While the precise relationship of Plato and Socrates remains a heated
disagreement among scholars, Plato states that he was, in fact, a devoted follower of Socrates.
Plato was highly influenced by Socrates teachings and highly disturbed by his execution,
eventually leading him to establish an extremely powerful body of intellectual work. Plato is
known to be a great writer as well as teacher. Some of Plato s most famous teachings and writings
had to do with his powerful argument that was in favor of the objectivity of values. He taught that
objective values are those that exist outside the individual and are otherwise dependent upon their
individual perception or personal belief. This can include truth, beauty, as well as good. Some other
distinguished philosophers have come up with

For example, when Louie is captured by the Japanese and taken to a POW (Prisoner of War) camp
where he among others if both physically and emotionally abused he keeps trying to survive. He
knows from firsthand experience that if he perseveres it will get better. This is proven when
Louie after experience in three different camps is ordered to hold a fifty pound beam of wood
over his head for ten minutes (Hillenbrand 295). Even though Louis was sickly, weak and skinny
he managed to do it without giving up. This once again portrays the theme to always persevere
because without it Louie would be dead.
Setting:
The setting in the book Unbroken is constantly changing all over the place. The changes that take
place in this book are both in time and in location. Many transfer the main character, Louie all
over different places in the world. Because of Louies status as a bombardier on a flight crew
during World War Two, Louis is constantly on the move from one military base to the next.

Reaction Rate Of Lipase
Enzymes are substances made of protein that help stimulate chemical reactions. One of the
enzymes crucial to human health is lipase. Lipase is one of the vital digestive enzymes released
mainly by the pancreas into the small intestine, to help the body process and absorb fats. Lipase is
a digestive enzymethat breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol.
Phenolphthalein is an indicator that is pink in alkaline solutions around pH10. When the pH
drops below pH 8.3 phenolphthalein goes colorless. Here, an alkaline solution of milk, lipase and
phenolphthalein will change from pink to colorless as the fat in milk is broken down to form fatty
acids (and glycerol) thus reducing the pH to below 8.3. The time taken for this reaction to occur is
affected by temperature.
Temperate affects the reaction rate as when temperature rises, molecules have greater kinetic energy
resulting in the molecules having greater energy than the activation energy, leading to greater
enzyme activity. However when the temperatures become too high the enzymes start to denature
leading to slower enzyme activity. Most enzymes have an optimum temperature of 37 degrees.
Aim
To investigate the effect that temperature has on the reaction rate of the lipase with fats in full
cream milk.
Hypothesis
The higher the temperature the faster the lipase will react with the fats in full cream milk.
Variables
Independent: The temperate of the water bath
Dependent: Rate of reaction between the lipase

United States Armed Forces Are Only For The Rough And Tough
The United States Armed Forces are only for the rough and tough. I learned about the military

and tough enough to join the military then I could do anything I put my mindto. It became a

I recall the very day I decided to join the military. As I sat in keyboard class, the teacher turn on
the television. The news was on with a live broadcast of the Twin towers located in New York.
Smoke was coming from one of the towers. Seeing this major event happen caused everyone in
my class to talk. Some of my classmates started screaming and crying when the plane hit the other
tower. School was released early because of the amount of students who had relatives that worked
in the twin towers. Seeing all of my classmates and the other kids at my school crying caused
something inside me to want to make a difference and fight for my country. Without doing any
research of my own about the different branches of the military, I chose to join the Army. On the
way home, I went to the nearest recruiting office and that became the beginning of my military

Explain The Paradox Of Thrift
Macroeconomics Problem Set
Critical thinking: Paradoxes in Macroeconomics. The Macro/Micro difference
We are, in short, temporarily on the other side of the looking glass. The combination of the
liquidity trap even a zero interest rate isn t low enough to restore full employment and the overhang
of excessive debt has landed us in a world of paradoxes, a world in which virtue is vice and
prudence is folly, and most of the things serious people demand that we do actually make our
situation worse .
Introduction
I will briefly explain about what I am going to do in the essay. o Response to the title o Give some
history about the three paradoxes o Give a brief assessment of what is happening in the economy.
Point 1
Paradox of Thrift o Paradox of thrift: is a theory, which states if everyone tries to save moneyat the
same time, which you make think will create future wealth. However because everyone is doing
this, which means there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
oBecause microeconomics looks at individual transactions and small impacting originations making
use of scarce resources. So saving in microeconomics may be good for the individual, however as
macroeconomics looks at the bigger picture and looking at how the whole economy useless scarce
resources. So in fact one thing may be good for someone, however it may not be good for someone
else.
However there are also occasions when savings can benefit the economy. o For instance if people
save in the economy, it could lead to future wealth. Because if people place more money into the
bank. The banks will be able to lend money to businesses, who can invest money on machinery,
which will then create the money multiplier.

Analysis Of The Movie Tony
Bryn slid into the chair opposite Tony, slapping his hand on the table. He nodded briefly to the
waitress as he settled in. Tony eyed the data crystal with mixed feelings.
That s everything I could find on Fancher and his crew, Bryn said without equivocation. Pretty
standard stuff; Fancher is career Fleet. Commanding officer of the Rankori for 6 years, service
record reads like a Fleet novel. Bryn sipped the coffee the waitress placed in front of him,
grimacing at it before adding copious amounts of sugar. XO is Nate Little, came outta the Academy
about the time Fancher took command; third in his class. He stirred the sugar in, then sipped it
again; this time smiling in pleasure.
Anything interesting at all? Tony asked palming the crystal. Bryn shrugged, toying with his spoon.
Not among the Bridge staff. He said softly. But the Rankori s Flight Commander is something
different. His eyes dropped to the table in front of him.
How so? Tony asked eyeing Bryn carefully.
She s only been Fleet for three years, been Flight Commander for 2 of those three years. Bryn s
voice lowered. She s got one hell of a kill record, probably the best that Fleet has to offer. He
nodded toward the data crystal in Tony s hand. Found this in the Fleet archives; it s from about
four months ago. You need to take a look at it, Boss.
Something in Bryn s voice caught his full attention. He flipped open his portable reader and slid the
data crystal into it.

Canadian Peacekeeping
From the outset of the war, the Canadian people have clearly shown that it is their desire to help
in every way to make Canada s war effort as effective as possible William Lyon Mackenzie King,
Prime Minister of Canada during World War II (Collections Canada, 2001). Currently, many in the
21st century consider Canada as a very peaceful, social, and overall accommodating country.
Canada does many things for its people such as taking in many refugees, helping university level
students with loans, and giving immigrants affordable housing. Canada also helps protect other
countries military wise, especially the people in certain countries who are found in situations like
war. Canada tries to create peace with these countries or tries to use... Show more content on

During this conflict, Canada helped defend South Korean forces from the Soviet backed North
Korea. Canada did many things in this conflict, one of the most important was that Canada helped
secure Seoul, and in the process pushed back soviet forces towards the North Korean Border. As a
peacekeeping country apart of the U.N (United Nations) peacekeeping force, an estimated 26,791
Canadian military personnel served in the Korean War, during both the combat phase and as
peacekeepers afterward. The last Canadian soldiers left Korea in 1957 (Herd, 2007). Not only did
Canada aid South Korea in combat, but Canada also aided South Korea in the peacekeeping
phase after the conflict. Canada completed their mission as both countries agreed for an
armistice, and to stop the fighting. According to author, D Arcy Jenish, Both sides abandoned
any attempt to take territory when North and South agreed in July, 1951, to start peace talks.
But there was no ceasefire. Instead, as the negotiations dragged on for two years, the war
became a stalemate (2000). Even after the conflict, some Canadians decided to stay back and
serve in Korea, and many of these troops guarded and patrolled the ROK s (Republic of Korea)
side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which continues to separate the two Koreas (Korean War,
2003). All Canadian armed forces personnel who served in Korea from 1950 to 1957 are
considered Korean War veterans (Herd, 2007). It is clearly seen through the countless contributions
and help Canada provided, that Canada was a peacekeeper during this

The Steam Engine
As of the present, technology advances exponentially as compared to three hundred years ago.
Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and
science came about. It definitely did commence slowly. Most of the protracted infringement to
scientific and technological progress was due to theological beliefs and political incompetents. It
was only after the Protestant Reformation that significant progress was finally attained; it still
progressed slowly. Many individuals would conclude that the defining moments were when Isaac
Newton and Gottfried Leibniz made important contributions to the field of mathematics through
discoveries in Calculus. Although this played significant roles in the scientific... Show more content

This new ability drastically changed everything. Classical economical ideals came to the fore
when the prices of raw materials such as cotton went down and productivity went up. According
to Spielvogel, the amount of cotton imported into Britain in 1760 was two and a half million
pounds but by 1787, the rate had increased approximately nine fold, and by 1840, one hundred
and fifty fold. This machine enhanced the free trade ideals of laissez faire economics, made the
factory as an institution, created the idea of worker unions, led child labor laws, and the ideology
of Marxism. The creation of a better means of transportation other than the horse was now available.
In 1804, a British mining engineer, Richard Trevithick (1771 1833), built the first steam powered

on Trevithick s machine, George Stevenson built a better locomotive, known as the rocket , that

steam powered ships would gradually replace sail ships. To elaborate further on the steam engine

Plea Bargains In Criminal Law
What is a plea bargain a person may ask? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a please
agreement is an agreement by which someone accused of a crime admits to a less serious crime in
order to be given a less severe punishment. (Webster Dictionary). Plea bargain is the most critical
process in the criminal justicesystem. The Prosecutor may ask the defendant for a guilty plea in
exchange for a reduced or even suspended sentence. Now do you have to take the plea bargain
when the prosecutor offers it? The answer is no you don t but you have to stand trial. There are a

Many people are affected by the use of plea bargains in a positive way. For one defendants who
could be facing multiple charges and potential years in jail, has the potential to get multiple charges
dropped as well getting a significantly reduced sentence. In the judge s case, the advantage of
accepting a plea bargain agreement is that the judge does not need to schedule and hold a trial.
Judges also know about jails being overcrowded, so it is also in the public s interest to filter out
the people who don t need to be in jail for a long time out. The outcome of this process closes
cases quicker than the expected pace and also the court system would not be as overwhelmed
with court cases. One of the major reasons why people don t go to trial is because they realize
receiving the maximum charge if they go to trial will not be beneficial to them in the long run.
Even those who are never rearrested, getting a charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor
can show to be a critical benefit. Some employers may certainly not want to hire someone who
was convicted of a felony. Felony convictions may be used in certain court proceedings to discredit

Bessie Smith Thesis
It is time, at last, to speak the truth about the legendary blues singer. Truth is this particular jazz

Ancient Cultures Beliefs
Way back in the ancient cultures beliefs and faith played a major roll in their lifetime. It
treasured the art that spoke to them and made them closer to god, since writing was not indicate
back then. Some believed in only one god, some in many gods and some people believed in
objects like animals, the sun, items and even the weather. After visiting the Kimbell Art Museum
in Fort Worth and observing some of the ancient Egyptian art collection displayed, I have
decided to pick the theme of God to inform about. After my research, I discovered new and
different key points about the Egyptian beliefs in god and how it affects us in our world today.
My first object is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut, the
second object is Red Figure Cup Showing the Death of Pentheus (exterior) and a Maenad (interior)
and the last object is the Head of a Ewe.
The first object that I have picked while I was at the museum is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut,
Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut. It is said that it was created in the early 18th century between
the years 1473 1458 B.C. The instant I walked in into the Ancient Egyptian collection I couldn t
take my eye off of that sculpture, due to that being it was probably the the darkest object there.
The kneeling Statue of Senenmut was engraved from a grayish green stone, I like this object
because, all the achievement and work that Senenmut have done in his life was carved all over this
object. One of my dislikes is

Adventure is limited to basketball, shuffleboard or the all access ship pool. Cruise ships look boring
and a person would float along. The land base resorts are not bound by the imagination of the cruise
director. Patrons of resorts can plan (with the help of a concierge) the ultimate vacation based on
their individual preferences. You can hand pick your own adventure from island exploration, deep
sea fishing, catamaran sails, guided island tours, mountain biking, dune buggy off roading
excursions, dolphin encounters, scuba diving, horseback riding and more. The choices are endless
and some are included in the package. The not so adventurous can take relaxing strolls alone the
beach, play volleyball, paddle boat, surf or other less strenuous activities. As for night life, patrons
can choose to party on the resort, attend All White parties, talent shows, beach parties, bonfires or
listen to live bands. The more daring could party with the locals to experience rich, authentic
Caribbean culture first hand.
All inclusive, whether land resort or cruises, are the preferred way to vacation and provide a
great value for the cost. Depending on the client s budget and time constraints, cruises are
wonderful getaways but land resorts offer greater variety and excitement. The decision depends on
rather a person loves land or water. In conclusion, the abundance that an all inclusive trip has to

Wound Cleaning
The article by Fernandez and Griffiths (2013), compares the use of tap water to other cleaning
solutions when cleaning wounds. The current practice found in the article was using normal saline
because of its isotonic properties and its ability to not affect the healing process of the wounds.
Current literature states that clinicians should caution when using on wounds that have exposed
tendons or bone and that normal saline should be used in this case. So with that in mind, the
authors conducted a study based on tap water effects in wound care. Purpose of the study The main
goal was to see if there was any difference between the use of tap water and the compounds of other

with other cleansing products. The different wounds in the trials included lacerations, open
fractures and surgical incisions. Throughout the trials, they looked at the clinical benefits as well
as the cost effectiveness of each solution. After the data was compiled, it showed that there was no
significant difference, except in one trial, on clinical effectiveness when using tap water and
normal saline. In the one trial that had a different result, the data showed that there was a higher
rate of infection for one group who used normal saline. Unfortunately, it is inconclusive as to
whether or not it is true to say that it causes a higher infection rate. However, when it came to the
cost effectiveness, people reported the tap water to be more efficient than irrigating with normal
saline. Support of Clinical Question This article did support the question of interest of using tap
water compared to other cleansing products in the beneficial effects of wound care. My question
was to look at the cost effectiveness and the rate of infection when comparing the two. This article
looked at various different cleaning methods, including tap water and derived a probable outcome

My Vision Is Turning Out At Michigan State University
My vision is turning out to be twofold because it concentrates in achieving an advanced degree
from Michigan State University. At this time, I am not sure what degree I will end up getting.
At one point it I was dead set on a law degree, but time and experience have taught me that I have
not found exactly what I am passionate about, but I do believe that I will find it with time. I do
know that I regret missing out on a traditional college experience and am now working toward
pursuing an advanced degree in the most traditional way possible. This means that I do not want
to work during the degree so that I can participate in graduate campus life and sports events.
Until recently, I never really wanted to go to college and maybe that is why I never really fell in
love a particular school and waited so long to get my undergrad. Now, I have fallen in love with
Michigan State over the years and truly want to experience everything that the school has to offer.
It is important to me to make the school my Alma matter. Additionally, the pursuit of knowledge
and achieving a post graduate degree has become incredibly important to me. It is my current
dream to become a master in a vocation that I am passionate about and that fulfills me. This is
why I have made the decision to wait on school at this time. Originally, I had wanted and hoped
that my graduate degree would lead me to my passion, but I now know and understand that for me
the right choice is to try and find my passion

Reflection On The Guide Dogs Of Texas Organization
A noun. Leadership. According to the Oxford English dictionary it is The action of leading a

definition. It evokes more than that. I feel as though I have been through countless leadership
experiences. But none more memorable than being the leader of my own Eagle project. The

Organization. My project involved two phases. Cabinets for laundry room storage and puppy
training agility equipment. The first phase was straightforward and done without much hassle.
The Guide Dogs of Texas had a need for laundry storage to help with their newly formed
workload coming from their upcoming litter of puppies. The cabinets would serve to greatly
reduce the efforts required from having to provide the puppies with new sheets at least three
times a day. The second phase was a little more complex. My project coach and I came up with
the idea of constructing agility equipment to help train the puppies into becoming guide dogs. The
equipment that ended up being chosen were a teeter totter, a set of weave poles, and a ladder. The
agility equipment for the puppies would be made out of PVC piping and would be beneficial in

Essay on Jason vs Odysseus
Artful VS Artless
Both famous heroes from antiquity, Jason and Odysseus have much in common and just as much
not. It has been said that The Voyage of the Argo, written centuries past The Odyssey, is an
imitation or some form of plagiarism of the primary epic poem of ancient Greece. I like the other
train of thought; it is more an acknowledgement or tip of the hat, so to speak, specifically to The
Odyssey. Both tales center on a hero and a fantastic voyage. Jason was less the virtuous demi God
we see in Odysseus. At first glance, he appeared an unlikely hero. Not so Odysseus, who
embarked on what, should have been a short journey home following the fall of Troy, but became
an epic journey with many obstacles and delays along the way. ... Show more content on

Aeetes was used to getting visitors who had come for the fleece, and had devised a test for
quickly getting rid of them. He had a standing challenge to give up the fleece to anyone who could
tame two fire breathing bulls and then use them to plow a field with dragon s teeth. Jason was
stumped by how to pass this quest and was saved at the last moment by Aeetes own daughter Medea
, who gave him a potion of wild herbs that would protect him from the fiery breath of the bulls.
With the help, Jason easily tamed the bulls, and began to sow the field, but noticed that where
he had put the teeth, soldiers were springing up from the ground. Jason hid from them, most
cowardly, but then came up with a plan for getting rid of them. He picked up a huge stone and
threw it into the middle of the mass of soldiers, killing one. A quarrel immediately started
amongst the soldiers over who had thrown the rock, and a fight broke out, killing all but a few,
whom Jason was able to easily overcome. With the help of Medea, Jason was able to steal the
fleece from its guardian, a dragon, by putting it to sleep, and escape from Colchis. Jason s trip
home, however, took much longer than the way from home, as he was blown off course and had
to overcome many obstacles to reach his home. Does this sound familiar? That sentence could be
used to describe the first half of the Odyssey, only it was Odysseus voyaging and not Jason.

The Woman s Body
In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a
bedroom in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit,
and her right leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be
full of shock, disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her
right arm is raised, almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for
this . In the lower left area of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is
pointed towards: broken eggs on a silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and
self harm, respectively (DAI). The motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes
she is wearing, and the iconographic items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman
who was raped. According to the didactic, Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped
by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the
rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia
told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed
herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. Interestingly, the dagger in the
painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared to have happened right after
the rape. Therefore, it makes sense

Tolerance In Freedom Writers
Henri Frederic Amiel once said, Our greatest illusion is to believe that we are what we think
ourselves to be. Many times we see ourselves as lesser than what we actually could be. We may
let negative perceptions of ourselves and our abilities lead us to believe we re inferior but it is
possible to become strong enough to break those mental barriers. The film Freedom Writers tells a
story about at risk freshmen students who live in toxic environments and a gang ridden
neighborhood while attending an inner city school with racial tension on the rise. They meet their
new English teacher, Erin Gruwell, who helps turn their mindset around showing them what solace
there can be in picking up a pencil and writing about their hardships in a notebook. What makes
this movie even more powerful is that it is based on a true story that took place in the aftermath of
the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Freedom Writers not only touches upon the ideas of tolerance, reaching
one s full potential, and the meaning of success, but further highlights the importance of
perseverance and hope despite one s circumstances.
Freedom Writers demonstrates the concept of tolerance through the character Mrs. Gruwell and
upholds her as an example the viewers can sympathize with. Since Erin Gruwell was a novice in

The Structural Family Therapy On The Family
The identified problems in the family are the lack communication, rigid boundaries, and weak
subsystems within the family. The structural family therapy focuses on the interactions with the
family rather than focusing exclusively on the identified person or patient (Nichols, and Tafuri,
2013). In addition, through utilizing, the structuralism approach, the familywill be able to think
beyond symptomatic behaviors and see their choices and process relationships between group
members and other systems (Vetere, 2003). The family will also be able to broaden their
understanding of how each family member contributes to the problem or communication patterns
within the family (Nicols et al., 2013). Furthermore, based on the research structionalism will
encourage the family to problem solve in a safe therapeutic environment (Vetere, 2003). In therapy,
the family will be able to express their feelings and thoughts without judgments or bias from the
therapist.
Moreover, for this particular family, the objectives and treatment will focus on boundaries and
subsystems. Boundaries are useful guidance for the assessment of interactions among family
members. (Ryan, p. 133, 1997). When boundaries become clear the family is able to function
healthier between subsystems. Another objective in treatment will be learning conflict resolution
skills. Structural therapy will focus on encouraging the family to learn to respect one another s

3.As far as wireless goes, given the distinct network advantage that Rogers has (with a coverage of
95% of Canada and the most roaming partnerships) and taking advantage of a 69% penetration in
Canada, the strategy to push customers into adopting smart phones (also considering that only a
31% of Rogers wireless users were smart phone users) is the right one. One area that we should
explore is the enterprise segment. Given our relationship with Apple and other manufacturers, we
should seek partnerships with devices manufacturers, where we could agree to buy in bulk, with a
significant discount per phone and a minimum term contract. Wireless expected growth of 5%
annually for the next several years, thereВґs an increased customer demand for data driven

Another example of the author s use of irony is through the character of Manley Pointer, a

It is 490 B.C. and the powerful Persian army is about to invade my polis of Athens and all of
mainland Greece. The Persians have just caused the fall of Eritrea and now were next. We are
outnumbered easily and even the Spartans have denied us their help. The Greeks have sent
Philippides, a professional messenger to Spartaasking for their assistance in the battle. The
Spartans decided to help but unfortunately there was a law that they are reluctant to break. They
would not fight until the moon was full. I Kristo II may confront the Persians and just give in to
protect my family. Then at least I would be able to keep our belongings, we would still be alive. If I
give king Darius III some info on my fellow Athenians I might even be able to live

Unimodal And Bimodal Silica
In 2006, Franscesc Lloret et al. employed unimodal and bimodal silica based mesoporous
materials as support hosts for octanuclear Ni(II) oxamate complex44 of formula
{[Ni2(mpba)3][Ni(dpt)H2O)]6}(ClO4)4В·12.5H2O}, (Ni8) with mpba = m phenylenedioxamate
and dpt = dipropylenetriamine. This complex possesses a moderately anisotropic (S = 4) ground
spin state (D = 0.23 cm 1) and exhibits slow magnetic relaxation below TB = 3.0 K in the
crystalline state. The mesoporous silicas MCM 41, UVM 7 and UVM 11 were investigated to
incorporate Ni8 SMMs. The unimodal silica MCM 41 has small pores of 2.8 nm diameter while
UVM 7 has bimodal pores of 2.58 nm and 34.89 nm. A third silica, UVM 11, which is a porous
amorphous xerogel was also studied to act as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In stark contrast, MCM 41 and UVM 7 show much different magnetic properties after successful
incorporation into the silica pores. Notably, the П‡MT term for both silicas is higher than
expected for magnetically isolated Ni8 molecules (such as those in UVM 11) which supports the
presence of repeating Ni8 units forming [Ni8]x aggregates. П‡MT also reaches a maximum at a
range of 3 10 K, in contrast to the Tmax = 3 K of the SMM alone where Tmax generally increases
with increasing loading amount. This behavior can be rationalized due to magnetic anisotropy and
/or antiferromagnetic interactions between aggregates. A proposed mechanism consists of Ni8
SMMs filling the silica pores and consequent aggregation which is mediated by deprotonated
silanol groups present on the pores (Fig. 4). In turn [Ni8]x aggregates, joined by Ni O Ni bonds
interact in a ferromagnetic manner which allows for the Ni8 monomers to undergo magnetic
exchange interactions. This mechanism holds up to a point, a 100% loading amount results in
packing which imposes a steric strain on the filamentous [Ni8]x and pushes the Ni O Ni angle
towards a higher value, prompting antiferromagnetic interactions leading to a decrease in magnetic
susceptibility. AC magnetic measurements were used to verify the retention of SMMs
characteristics within the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of FDMA (MAC)
FDMA, WDMA and CDMA can be categorized as a class of communication protocol known as
deterministic protocols in medium access control(MAC). The problem presented to us is how to
access a communication medium in such a way that transmissions from different users will not
interfere with each other or at least keep the interference, if any, to a minimum degree so that users
can reliably communicate with their intended destinations. The full name of the mentioned multiple
scheme are as follows:
FDMA Frequency division multiple access
WDMA Wavelength division multiple access
CDMA Code division multiple access
In deterministic protocol, users know exactly when transmission is allowed in the shared channel
as some sort of a regulation or rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reason that FDMA is still in use in modern age. The use of equalizer is not necessary.
Less vulnerable to near far problem compared to other multiple access schemes. Require fewer bits
for overhead purposes such as synchronization and framing compared to TDMA.
Disadvantages: Assigned channel is unique to each user, thus no sharing can occur to increase
capacity. FDMA system have higher cell site system costs as compared to TDMA system. Require
duplexer in the system. FDMA requires tight RF filtering to minimize adjacent channel interference.
Noise Effect on FDMA, WDMA CDMA
As the radio communication field expands, traffics have been piling up and problem of noise and
interference can no longer be ignored. Noise is unwanted signal that enters the system and causes
distortion to the desired signal, thus degrading the quality of the intended signal. Noise can be
categorized into external and internal noise whereby external noise is mostly generated from man
made source while internal noise is usually contributed by the vibrating of atoms such as thermal
noise. In this session we will discuss how noises arises from different multiple access

Opinions and Social Pressure Essay
Solomon E. Asch Opinions and Social Pressure Salomon E. Asch in his essay Opinions and
Social Pressure conducted an experiment to determine effects of group pressure towards an
individual and concluded that there is a very strong tendency to conformity even when doing so
conflicting with their own senses of morality. In the experiment a group of young students have to
compare length of lines on two different sheets of paper. On one of them there is a sample single
line and on the other one there are three lines only one of which is same size as the sample line
from the first sheet. People taking part in this experiment are instructed to point at lines that are the
same length. At first, during the experiment the group is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breaking up unanimity of the group in given answers has a significant effect. In the experiment it
is also noted that the rate of wrong answers depends to a considerable degree on how wrong the
majority is. Even with significant difference in length of lines there were still individuals who agree
with majority error. For those participating in this experiment almost all declare that independence
was preferable to conformity. Life in society requires consensus as an indispensable conditions.
But consensus, to be productive, requires that each individual contribute independently out of
his experience and insight. (...) We have found that tendency to conformity in our society so
strong that reasonably and well meaning young people are willing to call white black is a
matter of concern (Salomon E. Asch Opinion and Social Pressure pp.730). The experiment has
proven that we live in times where opinion become very subjective and can be easily modified.
Social techniques are wildly used in marketing and sales or even by lobbyist in governmental
decision making process. The uncertainty of people own senses, opinion or knowledge can be
easily abused. Asch s experiment implements how people believe in the obvious lies. It s shows
simple ways of influencing perception, judgment and action. Results of this experiment trigger a
number of social and scientifically researches like study of Berns

PND usually develops within the first month after the baby s birth. The mother will show similar
symptoms to those seen in ordinary depression such as; feeling low, resentful, angry, constantly
tired, tense and anxious or feeling unable to cope and suffering with a loss of appetite.
There are various treatments for post natal depression such as; talking about the problem with a
health visitor, getting extra support or medication.
A short time after the baby is born a post natal check will be carried out by a hospital doctor the
mother will have various checks such as; weight, urine test, blood pressure, perineal check and
rubella immunity.
When the baby turns six weeks old a check will be carried out at the same time as the mother. The
baby s heart will be listened to, their weight be measure and their general behaviour noted. The
mother will be asked about any problems and the information will be recorded on the Personal
Child Health Record (PCHR).

Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand Case Analysis Essay
Case Study: Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand?
The case study Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand presents a fictional dilemma, based on a
real company, faced by Chateau de Vallois, a prestigious and famous wine producing estate in
the Bordeaux region of France. De Vallois is a family owned and run business; part owners are
Gaspard de Sauveterre a 75 year old majority owner, and equal partial owners: Francois de
Sauveterre Gaspard s son and the chateau s CEO , and Claire de Valhubert Garspard s
granddaughter. De Vallois had fallen into a slow decline under its previous owner, but Gaspard
along with Jean Paul Oudineaux, his estate manager, had restored the chateau and since then de
Vallois had been steadily profitable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem that this proposal introduces, according to her uncle Francois, is that it would add too
many unnecessary and uncontrollable risks to the chateau. Such risks include: the need to purchase
grapes to make the wine, raising concerns and possibly harming relationships with the negociants,
investing in a distribution channel, having to take care of the marketing, insurance, and all other
aspects that the negociants already perform for them, and most importantly, it may compromise
their Grand Vin and Puine wines as consumers and vendors perceptions may negatively change
toward the quality and reputation of de Vallois. Going through some of the details within the case,
I feel that the company would benefit from following Claire s general proposal, to create a lower
priced brand and enter a new market. My recommendation is that Chateau de Vallois at least invest
time and effort in researching the market and truly investigating the opportunity for growth. This
benefit would be present so long as de Vallois conducts a thorough market research before entering
the affordable luxury market to gain an understanding of the consumers needs and wants, the
demand that is present in the market for those young wine enthusiasts, and to be able to match de
Vallois strengths with these needs. They would also need to identify where they would want the
new label to be positioned,

10) How did the increase in literary styles increase our understanding of this period? How did the
political climate influence the quantity and content of literary works? Why do you think there were
so many new forms of literature introduced during the first and second centuries? When researching
or studying many of the early centuries civilizations and empires one of the largest struggles is
depicting what is fact or fiction. This due mostly to the fact that much of the history of these
civilizations was passed down from generation to generation or communicated with other groups of
people by way of spoken word. This was done by way of family or tribal elders in the form of
folklore or stories. The analyzing and studying of this spoke word

statement savings account is right for me. In my situation a statement savings account is right
because it requires minimal fees, it is safe, and I can access moneyvery quickly. Although, if
someone is looking for an account which they will earn high interest rate, choosing the Certificate

Juvenile Delinquent Crimes
What is considered a juvenile delinquent? Criminal courts would say that a juvenile delinquent is
a child that is between the ages of 7 to 14 years of age. Nowadays, 14 year old children can be
charged with certain crimes that may be handled like adults. Today, many states determine that a
child is considered to be a juvenile until the age of 18; however, in some states they set limits at 16
and 17 years of age. Under the age of 18, many offenses are considered juvenile delinquency. We
see that crimes that are committed by juveniles have increased with violent crimes, drug crimes,
gangs, and many more. With this in mind, some may argue to charge the juvenile as an adult based
on the seriousness of the crime. These delinquent acts are considered to be crimes that may be
committed by adults or even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Delinquency is crimes that are committed by youths; as well as, adults. These delinquencies
include; violent crimes, property crimes, criminal homicide, drug related offenses, and disturbances

are beyond parents or guardians control. Status offenses include; truancy, parental disobedience,
and runaways. 23% of offenses committed by females are status offense verses the 4% of boys.
Both are juvenile court jurisdictions; however, more serious crimes may be subjected to criminal
court and even prison. Multiple factors exist through understanding what leads a juvenile to
delinquent behavior. Biological, sociological, and psychological factors hold high merits in
explaining crime to delinquency. Some also study that age definitely factors closely to offending
behaviors. Children with traumatic backgrounds can exhibit symptoms such as anxiety and/or
depression. This typical behavior amongst juveniles is overlooked; which in return can cause
PTSD, then to a delinquency life

Essay On Australian Flag
Let go of mummy s skirt Australia! It s time to move forward as a nation. The current Australian
flag does not distinctively represent Australia s national identity and must be changed. First of all,
the flag does not acknowledge prior ownership of the land, nor does it demonstrate the ability to
fully reflect the identity of ordinary Australians. Furthermore, changing the flag will not alter the
national pride within Australians as they fought for the country, not for the flag.
It is well known in Australian history that the Aboriginal people were first inhabitants of Australia
before Captain Arthur Phillip and the first fleet. Clearly indicating that aspects of the Indigenous
culture should be included in the Australia flag to acknowledge their prior ownership of the land.
However, Australian and New Zealand are the only two major independent Commonwealth
countries which retain British Ensigns as their national flags. The flag only acknowledges Australia
s historical links with the United Kingdom, unit of the six states and territories and geographical
location. Changing the flag will allow Australians to acknowledge the Aboriginal s prior ownership
of the land and even promote reconciliation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

courageous souls which battled for the country. Instead, the heroic servicemen should be recognised

Sally Hemings Jefferson Research Paper
Thomas Jefferson is a well known name in the United States history. Thomas Jefferson
accomplished many goals and ideas during his lifespan. He was a founding father, he wrote the
Declaration of Independence and serve as president for 2 terms from 1801 to 1809. During his first
term as president, there was speculation of him having a relationship with Sally Hemingsa slave. As
of today, it is still unknown if it was true and if he was the father of 6. For two centuries there
has been disagreement with this controversy however, there has been DNA test on Thomas Jefferson
s male descendants and Sally Hemings relatives and the real answer is still undiscovered.
In September of 1802, a political journalist James T. Callender published an article. In which he
claimed Thomas Jefferson had a sexual relationship with Sally Hemmings a slave and even had
children. Being the president the article spread all around quickly. Sally Hemings was a slave at
Monticello. She was the half sister of Thomas Jefferson s wife Martha Jefferson, her father had a
relationship with Sally Hemings mother and had her. She was described by other slaves as light
skinned and could have passed as white. Hemings became Jefferson s property by an ... Show more

s death. Martha, Jefferson s daughter permitted Sally Hemings to leave in 1826 not long after
Thomas Jefferson s death. Thomas Jefferson wrote letters to the Secretary of the Navy but those
letters were gone, many indicated those letters told the truth about Thomas Jefferson and Sally

The Issue Towards Education And Education Reforms Needs...
The issue towards education and education reforms needs peoples awareness needs to increase
because of how important this issue is. The educational system is corrupt because people are
required to pay thousands of dollars or take out loans that are putting them in debts for years which
is absurd. Students from all over the nation forced to take out loans that put them in debtfor most of
their life. Low income students also do not have many options for educationand cannot afford one.
The cost of education will keep on getting higher and higher as time progresses and the next
president and congress of the democratic party needs to focus on this problem for students that are
in collegeand for the ones who will be in the future. The education issue is one of the biggest
challenges that the United States are facing today and needs to be fixed by lowering tuition, more
options for low income students, and create more teaching jobs. Both political parties have different
views on education and only one has the right mind to fixing the educational issue. On the website
feelthebern.org, republicanviews.org, and college.usatoday.com states different ways on how the
democratic party will fix the educational system by reforming college tuitions, financial aid, student
loans, and for students who come from a low income family.
On the website, feelthebern.org and college.usatoday.com, Senator Sanders believes that students
who are willing to go to college should be denied based on

The Mammalian Reproductive and Endocrine System
The mammalian reproductive and endocrine system
Homeostasis
Homeostasis taken from the Greek words meaning homoios similar and stasis standing still, it is a
term used to explain the body s ability in maintaining a dynamic equilibrium within its internal
environment requiring the coordination of many physiological processes. The term Homeokinesis
is the process used to maintain and achieve homeostatsis with kinesis meaning movement would, as
the internal workings of the body are on constant movement to maintain this state of equilibrium.
Maintenance of homeostatic values are controlled and communicated through out the body via the
endocrine and nervous systems.
An understanding of both these concepts is pivotal to the understanding of the physiological needs
and requirements of the mammalian body, the nervous system and endocrine systems are the body s
means of communicating this balance in conjunction with external systems in turn relaying
messages back to the organs systems in their own specialized ways to target organs. Any deviation
from this fundamental state of internal wellbeing are relayed to the hypothalamus which coordinates
the responses needed to return the body back to a state of equilibrium via feed back loops. Though
these systems work differently they are not independent of one another and help maintain an
organism s balanced state.
The nervous system provides coordinated response to changes in the external or internal
environment, responses are

  • 2. Marshall Island Research Paper Imagine waking up to a flooded house. Your home, your life, changed over night. This fear is a prominent and existent fear for the natives of the Marshall Islands. In the heart of the Pacific Ocean halfway between Hawaii and Australia lies one of the most remote inhabited places on the planet. The Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI) consists of 29 coral atolls comprising 1,156 individual islands and islets, distributed across 750,000 square miles of tropical ocean in two nearly parallel chains (Pacheco). With climate changebecoming a bigger issue and ocean levels rising, the Marshallese are slowly watching their homes, passed loved ones, and even agriculture be wiped away by the waves that are sinking their islands. • 3. The Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution Gulf of Tonkin Resolution The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was a resolution that stated that the president could take any and all action necessary in Vietnam. This was spurred by a supposed attack on a United States gun boat in the Gulf of Tonkin. A point of comparison to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution could be the declaration of war following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On December 7th, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) launched a large bombing mission against the ships and the soldiers at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After this event, the original idea to try and keep the United Statesout of World War II was abandoned and the United States began to churn out military equipment and supplies to combat the Axis powers. In both cases, the seemingly correct thing to do was considered to be obvious. Reagan s Tear Down the Wall speech Ronald Reagan s Tear Down the Wall speech commanded Mikhail Gorbachev to dismantle the Berlin Wall, which divided Berlin between the Capitalist West and Communist East. A point of comparison that can be drawn between this speech and another is Booker T. Washington s Alabama Exposition Address. In Washington s speech, he discusses how African Americans would be dedicated workers alongside whites if whites cast down their buckets to African Americans to help them to find work. In Washington s mind, allowing African Americans to have economic prosperity would, in turn, allow them to finally be free. This is similar to the fall of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Wasted Food Essay Every year, billions of pounds of food are wasted throughout the world. It is important to realize that this is an enormous problem. This is a problem by cause of countless people could have prevented it by just starting their meal with less food. Misunderstanding the consequences of food waste, people don t even understand how much food they wastethroughout their lives. Food that we throw out results in so abounding problems and wastes of needed resources. Wasted food is a strong loss as a result of wasted water, money and food for others in need. Moreover, food is a considerable loss considering it results in wasted water. In the article titled, When You Waste Food, You re Wasting Tons Of Water, Too , it says, According to the World Resources Institute, an environmental think tank, inside the 1.3 billion tons of food wasted every year worldwide is 45 trillion gallons of water. Another article titled, Wasted Food=Wasted Water it tells us, When you crunch the numbers, about 25 percent of all freshwater consumed annually in the US is associated with discarded food. Having trouble visualizing how much water that is? Well, on a global scale, by one clever comparison, it s a little more than the volume of Lake Erie. This information tells us that when people throw out the extra food on our plate that you couldn t finish, overall, people are wasting so much water. Everyone wastes so much water through not taking smaller portions of food that it equals more than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Critical Analysis Of Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli is a kind of a precious blue stone. (Marc 1998) Lapis Lazuli referred to in this poem was given to Yeats on his seventieth birthday (as a present) by Mr. Harry Clifton. In this essay I am going to critically analyse this poem in relation to its context. This means that in relation to time and place. I will then conclude by commenting on the language aspects and give an account as to why he chose to use certain conventions and words. In discussing the relationship between art and politics For everybody knows or else should know that if nothing drastic is done, aeroplane and zeppelin will come out. Pitch like king billy bomb balls in until the town lie beaten flat Marc (1998) articulates that this poem opens up with a description of the fear of war, and panic that caught Europe during the period 1935 1939. He further observed that this was the time of deep despair. This means that one grew up for the foreknowledge that war more dangerous than the first one was possible. Lines of extreme fear and violence were growing and people were shaking with fear of air raids, and raining incendiary bombs in cities and citizens. • 7. Dissociative Disorder Somatic and Dissociative Syndromes Let us start by defining somatic symptom disorder, malingering, factitious disorder, and dissociative disorders according to the DSM 5. A somatic symptom disorder is a disorder in which persons become excessively distressed, concerned, and anxious, about bodily symptoms they are experiencing. Malingering is intentionally faking to achieve some external gains, such as financial compensation or military deferment. Factitious disorder is a disorder in which an individual feigns or induces physical symptoms, typically for the purpose of assuming the role of a sick person. A dissociative disorder is a disorder marked by major changes in memory that do not have clear physical causes. Are all of these disorder legit? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is mental disorder where an individual overthinks about his/her symptoms. Thoughts are harder to control than physical actions in my opinion and this is a disorder that is brought up because of thoughts and emotions. When discussing conversion disorder, a disorder in which medically unexplained bodily symptoms affect voluntary motor and sensory functions, the emotions that are so hard to get rid of actually induce physical symptoms. Our mind and bodies are connected more than we think and this disorder proves it. I find this disorder difficult to question is legitimacy because the symptoms are real. Even though the doctors cannot find physical causes, they can find physical proof of the disorder. The last disorder to discuss is dissociative disorder. A dissociative disorder is similar to a conversion disorder in that there are no physical reasons for the symptoms but the symptoms are real. Even though clinicians cannot find physical causes, there must be something that happens with patients of this disorder because most of the time the disorder appears more than once in patients. Whether there is a small biological defective or a mental mishap, there is something that happens to patients that makes them adopt the symptoms of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Large corporate nowadays has unemployed larger ratio of human capital to decrease cost and most importantly, increase the efficiency because of automation of technology. Arguments on regard to this has been going on and off constantly and people all have a common question in mind, if the efficiency really means what it supposed to be? Of all the technologies we are utilized currently, virtual meeting platform plays a crucial role. The use of virtual meeting platform has significantly shorten the time employees spend on client s site, decreased travel expenseand enable the employee to discuss with client at the convenience of their home or office. However, bottom lines are not proving to increase significantly as expected due to lack of personal contact (trust) value, learning value and group synergy gain value. Review/Analysis of the Case According to Eilif Trondsen, He mentioned The trend toward a virtual workplace is driven by growing numbers of workers spending too much time in the field, interacting with customers, business partners, and collaborators and spending less time in traditional office . Due to the costly time and expense on traveling to customer s site, most corporates are not hesitated to switching to virtual meeting. Marine Science Application Essay Re: Application for Staff Scientist Position in Marine Science Dear Dr. Torchin, I am very excited about the possibility of joining at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI)) in the position of Staff Scientist in Marine Science, as advertised in Naturejobs. My research interests fit extremely well with the requirements of this post and with existing staff scientists associated with the STRI. I have extensive research experience in the interdisciplinary field of Marine Sciences (including biological diversity, environmental chemistry, physical sciences, climate change) with diverse institutions globally (Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, South Korea, Monaco) funded by competitive fellowships and external research... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I discovered 11 new proteins which are decisive factors in the biological formation of invertebrates. The functions of proteins allowed us to understand how a huge number of invertebrates interact with the environment and how they respond to global climate change. Because of my discovery and outstanding achievements in the doctoral and postdoctoral programs, I received President Award from the University of the Ryukyus and many awards from international scientific forums. Using these emerging environmental innovative approaches, I performed whole proteomics analyses in calcifying marine invertebrates and discovered how and which extracellular proteins (e.g., ECMP 67) are responsible for making calcite mineral in their skeletons and subsequently explored how some invertebrates (e.g. octocorals) defy their environments (see http:/ /www.asbmb.org/news.aspx?id=14312 ; http://www.en.uni muenchen.de/news/newsarchiv/2011 /2011_rahman_corals.html ). Throughout my doctoral and post doctoral research programs following the environmental proteomics approach, I identified key functional new proteins (including Ca2+ binding and glycosylation proteins), genes and enzyme which are involved in the biological process of the chemical formation of calcium carbonate skeleton in corals. These findings are very important for understanding the biodiversity of ecosystems, calcification process, chemistry of the oceans, and environmental change signals. Using ... • 10. Negative Effects Of The Vietnam War The Vietnam War brought an immense amount of tension and anger to the United States. Many innocent lives of both Americans and Vietnam citizens were taken during the Vietnam War. The war affected the United States in a predominately negative way. The spread of media, multiple bombings, and distress in America caused such tribulation. Consequently, the Vietnam War caused more harm than help to South Vietnam, as well as the United States. Media emerged as a major factor in people s opinion on the war. The media showed photographs of wounded soldiers on stretchers in Vietnam. Photograph and videos were shown to citizens, giving them a new perspective on what was really happening in the war. Even videos of napalm drops were recorded and Americans were finally able to view the reality of the war. Americans were shocked to realize that this is what soldiers dealt with in Vietnam. Americans were also able to see the environment that the soldiers had to live in as well. Vietnam was a jungle environment, which was extremely unfamiliar to Americans. The United States participated in multiple bombings throughout the course of the war. Operation Rolling Thunder contributed to a majority of these deaths. Operation Rolling Thunder was initiated by President Lyndon B. Johnson. This sustained bombing of North Vietnam caused over 900 U.S. aircrafts to be destroyed. Many Americans were killed as well. Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Essay Stereotypes of Men in Advertisements Visual representation of reality, as seen through mass media, is acknowledged by sociologists to be influential in shaping people s views of the world. Our everyday realities are articulated mostly by what we see in the media. The role of advertising in this interpretation of reality is crucial. The target audience s self identification with the images being a basic prerequisite for an advertisement s effectiveness, makes advertising one of the most important factors in the building of behavior models and values systems. The way a certain notion is managed at a visual level determines how people will perceive this notion and whether they will identify with it or not. Meaning is encoded in the ... I also intend to examine any general differences between the ads fro the men s magazines, and those from the women s magazines, as well as differences along product lines. I expect to see reinforcement of the stereotypes discussed in Denise Kervin s study as well as the stereotypes delineated by other authors cited in this paper. I expect that these reinforcements will occur as much as, but in a different way than is seen earlier in time as discussed in the various literature cited in this paper. I also expect that these stereotypes will be equally present, yet will manifest themselves differently depending on the target audience and product being pitched. Dominant discourses surrounding gender encourage us to accept that the human race is naturally divided in to male and female, each gender realistically identifiable by a set of immutable characteristics. In Foucault s terms, relations of difference are social constructs belonging to social orders that contain hierarchies of power, defined, named and delimited by institutional discourses, to produce social practices. Gender differences are symbolic categories (Saco, 1992:25). These categories are used to ascribe certain characteristics to men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eventually, Yue State became strong enough and defeated Wu. According to recorded history, during the Spring and Autumn Period, there were over 480 wars, 52 vassal states were vanquished, and 36 kings were killed. During the Spring and Autumn Period the imperial house, with priestly, ritualistic, and diplomatic functions but with diminishing authority, slowly sank out of sight as the local nobles struggled with one another for power. Survival required coalitions, both political and economic, as well as the accumulation of productive wealth. • 15. Plato s Teachings Of Philosophy Plato was a well known philosopher who lived during the time of the distinguished Greek philosophers. He was born into a wealthy and very noble family in the Athens. In the midst of preparation for his life long career as a politician, the young Plato witnessed the trial and eventual execution of Socrates. Little did he or anyone know this would ultimately lead him to completely abandon his political career and become one of the world s most distinguished philosophers. Although Platos teachings are not universally agreed upon, virtually anyone can agree that that he was a brilliant thinker and spurred many thoughts and beliefs that are carried into today s teachings of philosophy. While the precise relationship of Plato and Socrates remains a heated disagreement among scholars, Plato states that he was, in fact, a devoted follower of Socrates. Plato was highly influenced by Socrates teachings and highly disturbed by his execution, eventually leading him to establish an extremely powerful body of intellectual work. Plato is known to be a great writer as well as teacher. Some of Plato s most famous teachings and writings had to do with his powerful argument that was in favor of the objectivity of values. He taught that objective values are those that exist outside the individual and are otherwise dependent upon their individual perception or personal belief. This can include truth, beauty, as well as good. Some other distinguished philosophers have come up with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Reaction Rate Of Lipase Enzymes are substances made of protein that help stimulate chemical reactions. One of the enzymes crucial to human health is lipase. Lipase is one of the vital digestive enzymes released mainly by the pancreas into the small intestine, to help the body process and absorb fats. Lipase is a digestive enzymethat breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol. Phenolphthalein is an indicator that is pink in alkaline solutions around pH10. When the pH drops below pH 8.3 phenolphthalein goes colorless. Here, an alkaline solution of milk, lipase and phenolphthalein will change from pink to colorless as the fat in milk is broken down to form fatty acids (and glycerol) thus reducing the pH to below 8.3. The time taken for this reaction to occur is affected by temperature. Temperate affects the reaction rate as when temperature rises, molecules have greater kinetic energy resulting in the molecules having greater energy than the activation energy, leading to greater enzyme activity. However when the temperatures become too high the enzymes start to denature leading to slower enzyme activity. Most enzymes have an optimum temperature of 37 degrees. Aim To investigate the effect that temperature has on the reaction rate of the lipase with fats in full cream milk. Hypothesis The higher the temperature the faster the lipase will react with the fats in full cream milk. The cabinets would serve to greatly reduce the efforts required from having to provide the puppies with new sheets at least three times a day. The second phase was a little more complex. My project coach and I came up with the idea of constructing agility equipment to help train the puppies into becoming guide dogs. The equipment that ended up being chosen were a teeter totter, a set of weave poles, and a ladder. • 35. Essay on Jason vs Odysseus Artful VS Artless Both famous heroes from antiquity, Jason and Odysseus have much in common and just as much not. It has been said that The Voyage of the Argo, written centuries past The Odyssey, is an imitation or some form of plagiarism of the primary epic poem of ancient Greece. I like the other train of thought; it is more an acknowledgement or tip of the hat, so to speak, specifically to The Odyssey. Both tales center on a hero and a fantastic voyage. Jason was less the virtuous demi God we see in Odysseus. At first glance, he appeared an unlikely hero. Not so Odysseus, who embarked on what, should have been a short journey home following the fall of Troy, but became an epic journey with many obstacles and delays along the way. ... He had a standing challenge to give up the fleece to anyone who could tame two fire breathing bulls and then use them to plow a field with dragon s teeth. Jason was stumped by how to pass this quest and was saved at the last moment by Aeetes own daughter Medea , who gave him a potion of wild herbs that would protect him from the fiery breath of the bulls. With the help, Jason easily tamed the bulls, and began to sow the field, but noticed that where he had put the teeth, soldiers were springing up from the ground. Jason hid from them, most cowardly, but then came up with a plan for getting rid of them. He picked up a huge stone and threw it into the middle of the mass of soldiers, killing one. A quarrel immediately started amongst the soldiers over who had thrown the rock, and a fight broke out, killing all but a few, whom Jason was able to easily overcome. With the help of Medea, Jason was able to steal the fleece from its guardian, a dragon, by putting it to sleep, and escape from Colchis. Jason s trip home, however, took much longer than the way from home, as he was blown off course and had to overcome many obstacles to reach his home. Does this sound familiar? That sentence could be used to describe the first half of the Odyssey, only it was Odysseus voyaging and not Jason. These journeys are parallel, as they are seafaring trips ... • 36. The Woman s Body In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a bedroom in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit, and her right leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be full of shock, disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her right arm is raised, almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for this . In the lower left area of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is pointed towards: broken eggs on a silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and self harm, respectively (DAI). The motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes she is wearing, and the iconographic items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman who was raped. According to the didactic, Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. Interestingly, the dagger in the painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared to have happened right after the rape. Therefore, it makes sense ... Many times we see ourselves as lesser than what we actually could be. We may let negative perceptions of ourselves and our abilities lead us to believe we re inferior but it is possible to become strong enough to break those mental barriers. The film Freedom Writers tells a story about at risk freshmen students who live in toxic environments and a gang ridden neighborhood while attending an inner city school with racial tension on the rise. They meet their new English teacher, Erin Gruwell, who helps turn their mindset around showing them what solace there can be in picking up a pencil and writing about their hardships in a notebook. What makes this movie even more powerful is that it is based on a true story that took place in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Freedom Writers not only touches upon the ideas of tolerance, reaching one s full potential, and the meaning of success, but further highlights the importance of perseverance and hope despite one s circumstances. Freedom Writers demonstrates the concept of tolerance through the character Mrs. Gruwell and upholds her as an example the viewers can sympathize with. In addition, through utilizing, the structuralism approach, the familywill be able to think beyond symptomatic behaviors and see their choices and process relationships between group members and other systems (Vetere, 2003). In stark contrast, MCM 41 and UVM 7 show much different magnetic properties after successful incorporation into the silica pores. Notably, the П‡MT term for both silicas is higher than expected for magnetically isolated Ni8 molecules (such as those in UVM 11) which supports the presence of repeating Ni8 units forming [Ni8]x aggregates. П‡MT also reaches a maximum at a range of 3 10 K, in contrast to the Tmax = 3 K of the SMM alone where Tmax generally increases with increasing loading amount. This behavior can be rationalized due to magnetic anisotropy and /or antiferromagnetic interactions between aggregates. A proposed mechanism consists of Ni8 SMMs filling the silica pores and consequent aggregation which is mediated by deprotonated silanol groups present on the pores (Fig. 4). In turn [Ni8]x aggregates, joined by Ni O Ni bonds interact in a ferromagnetic manner which allows for the Ni8 monomers to undergo magnetic exchange interactions. This mechanism holds up to a point, a 100% loading amount results in packing which imposes a steric strain on the filamentous [Ni8]x and pushes the Ni O Ni angle towards a higher value, prompting antiferromagnetic interactions leading to a decrease in magnetic susceptibility. AC magnetic measurements were used to verify the retention of SMMs characteristics within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mammalian Reproductive and Endocrine System The mammalian reproductive and endocrine system Homeostasis Homeostasis taken from the Greek words meaning homoios similar and stasis standing still, it is a term used to explain the body s ability in maintaining a dynamic equilibrium within its internal environment requiring the coordination of many physiological processes. The term Homeokinesis is the process used to maintain and achieve homeostatsis with kinesis meaning movement would, as the internal workings of the body are on constant movement to maintain this state of equilibrium. Maintenance of homeostatic values are controlled and communicated through out the body via the endocrine and nervous systems. An understanding of both these concepts is pivotal to the understanding of the physiological needs and requirements of the mammalian body, the nervous system and endocrine systems are the body s means of communicating this balance in conjunction with external systems in turn relaying messages back to the organs systems in their own specialized ways to target organs. Any deviation from this fundamental state of internal wellbeing are relayed to the hypothalamus which coordinates the responses needed to return the body back to a state of equilibrium via feed back loops. Though these systems work differently they are not independent of one another and help maintain an organism s balanced state. The nervous system provides coordinated response to changes in the external or internal environment, responses are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
