An Opinion On Western Strategy Essay
Every journalist, public intellectual and mouthbreathing tv personality has an opinion on what western
strategy should be in Syria in light of the Russian involvement. It makes for a chaos in perpetual
regeneration. However, the vacuum we ve created in Syria by our inaction and the lack of leadership
from president Obama and Mr Cameron having now been filled by the vile dictator Putin might make
western strategy more simple. That is if we operate under the assumption we take advantage of the
opportunity. Many Sunni Arab nations in the region have been unwilling to take action against ISIS
and in many cases have been supporting the Islamic State materially and strategically. This is because
the dominant concern for the Sunni regimes is the threat posed by the rogue axis of the Syrian Ba
athist Alawite regime of Bashar Al Assad, the Shia twelver rapture cult IRGC, and their protector
Vladimir Putin. Setting aside the many severe human rights offenses and the warped ideological
export regime in Saudi Arabia and the embarrassment that is Turkey under the AKP and the unabashed
Hitler loving islamist Erdogan, it isn t difficult to see their point. Saudi Arabia and Turkey have long
been allies to the west. Saudi Arabia is actually surprisingly eager and cooperative in diplomatic
matters despite their vile domestic barbarism and their fetish for pushing wahabbi islam on the world,
and Turkey has become a serious liability in recent years after only being a problematic

Disadvantages Of CHO Cells
CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary) cells are cell lines extracted from the ovary of the Chinese Hamster
and are exclusively used for commercial purposes in the production of recombinant therapeutic
proteins. Some proteins are to be synthesized using mammalian cells rather than the commonly used
microbial cells as the latter lacks the exact machinery to produce the complete protein or for safety
concerns. Among the mammalian cells, CHO cells continue to be the choice for the production of
several therapeutic proteins.
However there are certain disadvantages associated with CHO cells which include low productivity,
substrate product stability, slower growth rate, low cell density, etc. These cell lines consume nutrients
continuously beyond stoichiometric needs. Thus, the mode of operation should be chosen in such a
way that they overcome the disadvantages of the CHO cell line.
The large scale production of therapeutic proteins in industries is done in suspension culture as the
adherent cell line poses a challenge in scaling up. Currently there are two dominant modes of
operation for producing therapeutic proteins based on mammalian cell lines (Hu and Aunins, 1997) in
industrial scale:

There is a gradual addition of a fresh volume of selected nutrients during the growth culture cycle. It is
basically a semi batch operation wherein nutrients are fed intermittently or continuously using one or
more fed streams. This is done to ensure that productivity and growth is promoted. Once a run is
finished, the culture is harvested and the product is sent to downstream processing. The nutritional
environment can be maintained approximately constant during the course of the batch. Fed batch
culture is superior to conventional batch culture because concentrations of nutrients can be

Crooks Loneliness
John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, is a story in which a influencing idea of unpreventable
loneliness conquers. Steinbeck uses words such as solitaire which means ones self; The novel starts
off in Soledad which means loneliness. In this novel Steinbeck shows us the importance of friendship
and companionship and how important it is to have a friend to share your life with. He uses almost
every character in this novel to stress the importance of having a friend. Most of the characters are
craving companionship, lonely and have no one to share their life with. This book is filled with
characters who are trying to find friendship but are incapable of finding a way out of their lonely and
isolated life. Steinbeck shows how the lifestyle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George looks out for Lennie much like a parent would, as he tells Lennie what to do and looks out for
him. George acts as Lennie s guardian and has to watch everything Lennie does. Their relationship is
almost like a parental relationship, where George is the parent and Lennie is the child. George gives
all the care he can to Lennie. This is shown a couple of times throughout the novel. It is shown when
Lennie stops to drink water out of a pond of dirty water. Lennie, for God s sake don t drink so much..
you gonna be sick like you was last night , this quote is said by George and it shows that George is
worried about Lennie s health as he does not want him to feel sick. This indicates that George is
willing to take care of Lennie which shows the companionship between them. This clearly shows that
Lennie needs George because he is unable to take care of

Historical Context Of Le Corbusier
When considering the cultural and social aspects of a building, one must study the historical context of
its construction. In the 1920 s, European architecture was beginning to integrate traditional elements
with the new social demands for modern technology. Although many architects and engineers were
involved, Le Corbusier was the French architect who people today believe led this architectural
revolution in Europe. Few are aware of the fact that Pierre Chareau also played a significant role in
this modernist movement. Originally a furniture designer, the Maison de Verre was his first full scale
architectural project. Doctor Jean Dalsace and his wife Annie commissioned Chareau to design their
home and kept a binding friendship throughout and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you walk through the typical Parisian entrance door of 31 Rue Saint Guillaume in the stylish sixth
arrondissement of Paris, you find yourself standing in front of a large glass box. Although one could
argue that the Maison de Verre is an interruption in the continuity of the Haussmannian buildings of
the neighbourhood, it is still hidden away and shielded from the public eye. It may look like the odd
one out, but it reflects the personality of Chareau himself as many architects today consider him as an
outsider . It must be remembered that the Maison de Verre, although an overall individual achievement
in the eyes of modern architecture, was a collaboration between Pierre Chareau and Bernard Bijvoet, a
contemporary Dutch architect who kept a low and modest profile in relation to the buildings he
contributed to. In addition, the skilled metalworker and craftsman Louis Dalbet contributed to the
fabrication of the mechanical toys. Although it received initial criticism for its controversial nature,
the Maison de Verre is a unique and significant contribution to 20th century architecture. Since its
construction, the Maison de Verre has proven to be a touchstone for architects throughout the world,
including Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Glenn Murcutt and many others

Ashley Sims Drawing
Ashley Sims was born in Arcadia, Florida and studied art at South Florida State College as well as
Greenville Technical College in South Carolina where Sims is currently in college, majoring in art
education. The theme of the collection being shown is to show the importance of a well rounded
education when it comes to the field of drawing. The importance of this theme is that each drawing is
an example of a different concept of drawing, Though multiple concepts are sometimes included in the
same drawing there will always be a main focus that teaches a new lesson and learning these is
imperative for any artist. The media used on these drawings are graphite, charcoal, ink wash, and
prisma pencil. Project one, is of an orange. Sims follows this theme by experimenting with mixed
media. She uses graphite, charcoal, and ink wash as well as 11 media processes in the creation of this
piece including, hatching, cross hatching, scribbling, tortillion marks and many more. This project is
used as a preview to all the processes that can be used in the creation of a drawing. Project two depicts

Sims wanted this collection to be used as a way for prospective artists to see and understand some of
the most important concepts of creating a drawing. The drawings of this collection are objective, every
mark was intentional and the meanings behind the images are not complicated. Her idea was to show
how to create a drawing rather than to make the viewer guess how to do it like they would with
subjective art where nothing is definite. Overall, any drawing that is created will have at least one of
the concepts shown in this collection. It does not matter whether the image is hundreds of years old or
will not be created for another hundred years. To be a successful drawing, it will have to contain at
least one of these

Socrates Euthyphro Analysis
In the excerpts from Plato s dialogue, Socrates asks Euthyphro Is what is holy holy because the gods
approve it, or do they approve it because it is holy? (Socrates, pg. 52) . Socrates, seems to want to
learn the nature of holiness but produces a contradiction of the question what is holy when Euthyphro
responds with what is pleasing to the gods is holy, and what is not pleasing to them is unholy

Canadian Confederation
This historical study will examine the complex provincial affiliations related to Canadian
Confederation that demanded complex political maneuvers to unify the Anti Confederate party and the
Confederate Party to support the Quebec Resolutions of 1865. The Anti Confederate vantage point of
George Etienne Cartier s Parti Bleus was a primarily French region, which sought its own sovereign
country. More so, the Atlantic/Maritime colonies of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia rejected the idea
of a Canadian federal government, which was based on the political leadership of William Annand of
Nova Scotia and Albert J. Smith of New Brunswick. In contrast, the Confederate leadership of James
A. MacDonald in Ontario sought to unify Canada due to the rising ... Show more content on

The lack of political representation under the Union Act of 1840 provided very few rights for local
government, which was perceived as a danger if the new confederate policies were to be instituted in
1864. In this case, William Annand s leadership in the Anti Confederacy Party in Nova Scotia
provided more seats in the provincial legislature, which resulted in a rejection of the Quebec
resolution (Beck 56). More so, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were often marginalized in these
discussions, since they were not as economically powerful as Quebec or Ontario. In this case, the
Confederacy Party of Nova Scotia, under the leadership of Charles Tupper, had temporarily failed to
win over the people to federalization. The distrust between the Nova Scotia parliament and the
mainland provinces was a major barrier to Confederacy due to a lack of representational government
under the Union Act:
In Nova Scotia, William Annand contended: It was a matter of very serious import to the people of
this province when they learned from such an authority that their rights and privileges were to be
swept away without their being consulted (Ajzenstat

Reflection Of A Look At The Medical Concertion Of The...
I attended a Board ordered deposition of your consultant, Dr. Dominic Belmonte, in the above matter
on 08/09/2017. The claimant was represented by attorney Kayla Seger and our hearing reporter was
Linda Engel.
As you know, this case is established for injuries to the left shoulder, left pectoral muscle and neck.
The average weekly wage has been set at $2,034.82. At this time we are litigating the issues of degree
of disability, maximum medical improvement and permanency.
This deposition was scheduled for the testimony of your consultant, Dr. Belmonte. Dr. Belmonte
examined the claimant on two occasions, the first was on 12/29/16 and the second on 04/12/17. In his

He testified he felt the claimant was at maximum medical improvement and had a rating of 3 B under
the Board Permanency Guidelines. I asked him to explain how he reached his opinion and he indicated
that since this case involved both the neck and the left shoulder it was not amendable to a schedule
loss of use. He then turned to Table 11.2 for soft tissue spine injuries. He stated the claimant had
complaints with supporting imaging studies and therefore, under the Table 11.1 the appropriate rating
would be 3 B.
I note that Ms. Seger objected to the testimony on the issue of permanency, maintaining this issue was
not before the Board. We in fact had raised the issue at the last hearing when we submitted Dr.
Belmonte s report. I therefore had him testify to his opinion as to maximum medical improvement and
as to permanency. Ms. Seger asked no questions on cross examination on these issues.
Cross examination was extensive but the doctor did not change his opinion in any way. He reiterated
his restrictions, which he felt were fifteen (15) to twenty (20) pounds below chest level and lifting,
pushing or pulling above the chest level with the left arm.
I was pleased with the doctors testimony. I feel he testified strongly and consistently with his written
reports and his testimony was not altered or impeached in any meaningful way on cross examination.
We will obviously consult the minutes of the doctors testimony as the testimony was more

Television Is A Key Component Of Our Daily Lives
Introduction
A television is a machine with a screen that is capable of displaying images. Televisions receive
broadcast signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Although debated, the TV is often credited as
being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for Westinghouse, and
Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent for the TV, but it was
Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal on September 7, 1927.
The television is a key component of our daily lives and is a marvel of engineering and utilisation of
technology. Smartly incorporating complex electronic theories and concepts, the televisions has faced

A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown
within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing the
image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the bottom of the
image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the individual picture
elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform; secondly, by transmitting
the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as voltage levels of a video signal;
and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a video signal display of parallel
scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most
primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to produce images, and operated with an
analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed over time and broadcast signals transitioned
from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasma televisions were created. These TVs
are more compact, are flatter and have crisper pictures than their cathode ray counterparts because the
bulky tube is removed, and in its stead they use a thin grid of pixels to create the images

Looking Backward By Edward Bellamy, And Fahrenheit 451
Have you ever wondered what a perfect world would be like? To you it could mean no more war, no
more poverty, every person of every race and gender being treated exactly the same. However, to
someone else their idea of a perfect world could be the complete opposite of what you would want. In
Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy, and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury the idea of a perfect
world is not just an idea anymore, it becomes reality. Nevertheless, both books perfect world are
completely different from one another. The theme of both books is to try and find that perfect world,
and maintain it. While there are many may differences between the two, the underlying truth still
remains the same. In Bellamy s novel, we start out in the late nineteenth century. Julian West, the main
character, was born into an aristocratic family. Just as the rest of his class did, Julian thought of
himself to be a higher rated citizen to the rest of the population. Julian had everything, even his fiancé
Edith was an aristocrat, and together they felt as if they could take on the world. The gap between the
rich and the poor sometimes affected the rich just as much as it did the poor. The two were to get
married as soon as their house was finished, but strikes from the poor construction workers were
prolonging that process. Julian had been suffering from insomnia all of his life, so he hired a hypnotist
to help him get his sleep. He even went to the extent to build a secret underground chamber

The Importance Of A Balanced Fitness Program
Well rounded fitness
Just as it is important to eat a balanced diet and lead a balanced life, it is also important to keep to a
balanced fitness program. Candice Livingston, a ACE Certified Fitness Instructor, teaches us how to
evaluate our fitness program and how to ensure we use a well rounded program.
Keeping our balance
We have all been taught the importance of keeping balance in our lives. You should not focus on work
so much that you neglect your family; you should not worry so much about planning your parent s
anniversary party that you forget your husband s birthday.
This balance of everyday life is just as important in a fitness program. You cannot reach your fitness
goals if you forget or neglect any of the important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Start with a light weight and as you get stronger, increase either the amount of weight or the numbers
of reps. Make sure you recognize the need to work every major muscle group, and start with the larger
muscle of each group. For example, when you work your arms, work your biceps and then move on to
the triceps. You may have a natural tendency to hold your breath on the contraction when strength
training, so make a conscious effort to exhale on the contraction and inhale on the release.
How often you perform your weight training depends on your fitness plan. If you work all your
muscle groups during the same training session, you only need to weight train two or three times a
week. If you only work certain muscle groups on certain days, you may need to workout four or more
days to work each muscle group at least twice a week. Whichever plan you follow, remember not to
work the same muscle groups two days in a row. Always allow a day of rest in between.
Cardiovascular training
Cardiovascular activity has many benefits. Just a few are a faster metabolism, lower risk of heart
disease, less body fat and a stronger heart and lungs. You will also have more endurance which is
helpful in day to day living.
Cardiovascular activities are often equated with aerobic activity. The main thing to remember when
incorporating cardiovascular training into

Hypothesis
The more silt soil contains gives a longer water holding capacity for the soil and the more clay it
contains gives a shorter water holding capacity.
Procedure I
Take separate samples of humus and forest ground soil and place into cups. Using spray bottle filled
with water, take a handful of soil into your hand and mist it with water. Squeeze the samples and try to
form it into a ball or a ribbon and determine its texture. Afterwards, do the same test again and
determine the consistence and observe the soil structure.
Questions
Considering the samples analyzed, the relationship between texture and consistence varies directly
because larger particles may affect the texture to the point where it is rough and the opposite when the

Clay generally has a much higher water holding capacity than that of silt or sand because the particle
size of the clay is much smaller allowing much less water to escape. Sand, in comparison, has very
large particles which creates space that the water very easily flows out of.
Procedure V
Use the same procedure as described before to prepare the fresh columns of soil and humus. Weigh the
columns of dry soil and humus. First, using the forest soil, use twist ties to suspend the dry columns
and the water saturated columns from the previous day in plastic vials. Put 10 mL of water in the 60 cc
cup. Record how long it takes for the first drop of water to come out the bottom to the column. Watch
until there is no more water standing on top of the column. Do this for the dry forest soil and humus.
Repeat with the wet soil column.
Question
In chart. The relationship between particle size and percolation rate is that the smaller the particle size,
the lower the percolation rate. the high permeability of wet sand and the low permeability of wet clay.
Rain on sandy soil will be quickly absorbed, while rain on clay will be more likely to run off.
Therefore, the ditch at the bottom of the clay soil field would be more likely to

Francesco Borromini Research Paper
Francesco Borromini is the most quintessential Baroque architect of all time. Though he was born in
Canton Ticino in the Alps, he came to Rome early and remained for the rest of his life. He was
suspicious and dedicated, evident in that he carefully supervised his designs from models, to drawings,
and even to the completed structure. His works, such as the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane
and the church of Sant Agnese in Agone, still stand today and continue to show his amazing skill and
expertise, and they still show his unrelenting pursuit of perfection. The church of San Carlo alle

Before they were decommissioned, the foundation and many of the lower walls were constructed. To
increase the originality of the plan, Borromini disrupted the longitudinal stress drastically. He
extended the transverse arms so that the eye would be led to the left and right and away from the high
altar. The wall area was also changed so that the crossing became an exact octagon. Borromini s chief
contribution was his facade. By the time he resigned, the facade reached cornice level and the dome
was completed as far as the lanterns. When Carlo Rainaldi returned he hollowed out the piers,
providing space for altars with retables and space for oratories. The church of San Carlo and the
church of Sant Agnese have a few similarities, the most obvious one being that both are Roman

you want, how you want to do it. Privacy is having the ability to not have someone look through your
stuff without someone asking. These aspects connected more with the world because people are going
through difficulties with these things. Orwell s 1984 is relevant in the year 2016 because The United
States government and the Oceania government are similar in their use of freedom, restricted power,
and privacy for the citizens. The Oceanian government and the United States government use power to
have control over what people say, do and think. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only recognized purpose of the marriage was to beget children for the service of the Party (Orwell
65). This explains that the only way for them to get married to one another is of they go to the
government and the government has to approve of it. This shows that the government has power of
their relationships. If the government don t like the relationship, then those people can t be together.
They had to have a purpose for getting married and the only real purpose was the children they would
make. The gay marriage paradox: Begging the government for a license to marry isn t freedom; it s
enslavement to Big Brother (Adams). On June 26, 2015, the United States of America legalized gay
marriage. You shouldn t have to knock on the door for you to get freedom. Based on John Locke s
idea, people should be inherited with natural rights and by restricting gay marriage limits those rights.
This shows that American and English societies are based on the same thing. The government treats
everybody the same when it comes to certain things. When the government did this, they had the
power to say who can marry who and what can marry what. It s enslavement to Big

Analysis Of Dow Quimica Argentina Is Considering Making A...
1. Background and Decision Issues Dow Química Argentina is considering making a bid to
Petroquímica Bahia Blanca S.A. (PBB) because it was being privatized by the government of
Argentina. PBB, which is located in Bahia Blance, is a major producer of both ethylene and
polyethylene in Argentina. Dow sees this as a very big opportunity for the company to expand its
market, utilize its resources and invest on a company that will eventually become the leading
polyethylene player in Latin America. Dow s vice president of business development for Latin
America, Oscar Vignart, and Luis Marcer, CFO of Dow Química Argentina are building the company
s cash flow projections for this particular project. In so doing, they have to assess the country s risk;
current political and economic conditions of Argentina, exchange rate stabilities, freedom of capital
repatriation and the uncertainties of the project so they can justify it to the parent company. They had
developed a three stage operational strategy for their future polyethylene expansion in Argentina. The
first stage is the acquisition of the PBB; the second stage is the acquisition of Polisur s two
polyethylene plants and the last stage is building a new ethylene cracker and a polyethylene plant. In
order to help them decide, the cash flows from each stage of this big project have been valued using
the discounted cash flow approach. They used a discount rate that was adjusted to incorporate the

The Suffragettes
The suffragettes were a group of women who believed in votes for women.
The suffragettes were usually women of middle or upper class backgrounds. Most of the British
suffragettes belonged to one of two main groups.
One of these groups being the WSPU. The WSPU was founded in Manchester in 1903 by Emmeline
Pankhurst and her daughter Christabel. The WSPU believed in militant protest, and were known for
assaulting police officers, chaining themselves to railings, breaking all the windows in oxford street as

Narrative Essay On My Dead Valentine
My Dead Valentine Suffocating from the fumes of grief, I could barely breathe. My hands quivered as
I grasped for the slick bathroom counter only to hit the floor instead. Choking on hair soaked with
salty tears, I gazed with my bloodshot eyes at the grimy floor drain speckled with rust. My hysterical
mumbles uttered with a low, raspy voice echoed off the tiled walls, Dead...she s dead...she s
dead...dead. I spoke these miserable words on a dismal Valentine s day when my dear friend Brooklyn
Kress slid off of a chair not to fall to the floor but to hang to her demise. Death became real, life
became precious, and relationships became a priority after my confidant turned to ash. Valentine s day
of my sophomore year started out like any typical school day. I worked my way through class after
class forcing myself to stay awake as I anticipated the cheesy Valentine s day plans awaiting for me
and my significant other. By the time fourth period rolled around, I was dozing off in band, but my
cellular device chiming with urgency awoke me. Chelsea Davis, an old friend of mine, was blowing
up my phone with text after text asking me to answer quickly. Hastily, I texted Chelsea with a brief,
Hello. She soon replied back by saying, I need to tell you some bad news...do you remember Brooklyn
Kress? My heart started to beat briskly as I began to fear what she was going to tell me next. The
following two words her fingers carelessly typed were going to haunt me for the next seven

An Energy Source Is A Universal Objective For All Nations...
The search and need for an energy source is a universal objective for all nations on earth. Human
societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of
human existence. The first source of course came from the burning of wood from trees to produce fire
that has kept humans warm and fed throughout the ages. With the evolution of human civilization the
need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the early 20th century
demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing technologies. Coal, oil, and
natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of energy, but these resources have
only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step in humanities source for a
sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has started to decline in use primarily
due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile
Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan. This decline in nuclear energy is
not the case in China today, in fact they are making huge movements to ramp up their use of nuclear
energy. By looking at the history then taking an in depth look into recent nuclear power in China we
will be able to see why and how China is making such extensive leaps in nuclear energy.
In 1964 China created and tested its first atomic bomb and by 1966 China had launched its first

Electroconvulsive Therapy Essay
After researching electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), I have decided that if a close family member or
even myself were severely depressed I would not support the use of ECT. Electroconvulsive therapy
consists of an electrical shock, which is used to produce a seizure. Many people experience seizures
due to some other type of illness or illnesses, and in these cases there is medicine taken in order to
prevent these occurrences. In deciding my opinion on the topic of ECT I asked myself would I want to
put myself or a loved one through what others are trying to avoid; a seizure. Although ECT has proven
to be effective in some cases of depression, it has many risk factors involved and it does not ensure a

Prior to the actual treatment, the patient is given general anesthesia and a muscle relaxant. Electrodes
are then attached to the patient s scalp and an electric current is applied which causes a brief
convulsion. Minutes later, the patient awakens confused and without memory of events surrounding
the treatment. This treatment is usually repeated three times a week for two to four weeks. The
number of treatments varies from six to twelve. It is often recommended that the patient maintain a
limited intake of medication, after the ECT treatments, to reduce the chance of relapse.
Electroconvulsive therapy is a very controversial issue.
Much of the controversy surrounding this topic revolves around its effectiveness vs. the side effects,
and the recent increase in ECT as a quick and easy solution, instead of long term psychotherapy or
hospitalization. Because of the concern about permanent memory loss and confusion related to ECT
treatment, some researchers recommend that the treatment only be used as a last resort. It is also
unclear whether or not ECT is effective. However, other studies indicate that the relapse rate is high,
even for patients who take medication after ECT. Some researchers insist that no study proves that
ECT is effective for more than four weeks.
The side effects were also what strongly aided in helping

John F Kennedy s Influence On Government
Many have regarded the American presidency as the most influential position a US citizen can hold.
Since the inauguration of General George Washington, the President of the United States has
expanded the power and overall influence of the office. In becoming increasingly prominent especially
in recent decades, presidents use a variety of tools such as media and public opinion, domestic, or
national security policies to expand that power.
During his presidency, John F. Kennedy utilized the opinions of the media and public to gain traction

Foremost was the President s implementation of a conservative...New Deal (373) 1 in which he
challenged the new deal and formed it to a more conservative liking, focused primarily on feeding the

Out of this, a sort of paradox emerged; to reduce federal power, it was necessary to increase
presidential power (373). 1 Out of which came a centralization of management in the White House, or
a more consolidated power within the White House itself in terms of domestic policy decisions.
Branded New Federalism , Nixon started off by issuing executive orders further emphasizing
affirmative action or granting employment, contracting or education on the basis of race or gender

the hiring of minorities. Next, Nixon would further expand the power of the presidency through

predecessors, he did not use the impounded funds to funnel back into the economy; instead, he
actively tried to sabotage governmental agencies such as the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO)
as it did not fit his administrations agenda due to its liberal agenda and war on poverty (377). 1 In this

Introduction
The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the mid Ming Dynasty to the end of the
Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, and now houses the Palace Museum. It was built
from 1406 to 1420 by the third Ming emperor Yongle, who upon usurping the throne, determined to
move his capital north from Nanjing to Beijing. In 1911 the Qing dynasty fell to the republican
revolutionaries. The last emperor, Puyi溥儀, continued to live in the palace after his abdication until
he was expelled in 1924. Twenty four emperors lived and ruled from this palace during this 500 year

specific features to reflect the paramount authority and status of the emperor. No ordinary mortal

The Last Owner Puyi溥儀 After the republican revolution, this Palace as a whole would have been
sequestered by the Nationalist government were it not for the Articles of Favorable Treatment of the

Meanwhile, all of the imperial treasures from palaces in Rehe (today s Chengde承德) and Mukden

In 1924, during a coup launched by the warlord Feng Yuxiang馮玉祥, Puyi was expelled from the
Forbidden City and the management of the palace fell to the charge of a committee set up to deal with
the concerns of the deposed imperial family. The committee began a sorting and counting of the

Babies Discover Their Feet
When do Babies Discover Their Feet?
Developmental milestones describe a set of functional skills that many children can do at a particular
age range. These milestones help measure how your baby is developing, such as the first word, or first
smile. Even though milestones have an approximate age level, every child is unique, and the age when
a child reaches that milestone can vary quite a lot. Beginning at age four months, babies learn to
coordinate perceptive and motor abilities. This is the age of discovery when they develop skills like
grasping, rolling over, sitting up, and their feet.

Racial Slurs, Words of Hate
Words of Hate Sticks and stones may brake my bones, but words will never hurt me , goes one old
playground rhyme. We are usually taught to ignore a person who uses foul language, but everyone
knows that words can really hurt a person. When someone uses hateful words against us, it can hurt
just as much as a slap or a punch. When people start to use obscenities with ethnic or racial slurs, it
can push some sensitive buttons. Racial slurs used in a joking manner leads to others using it in a
condescending manner, which ultimately leads to violence and feelings of hatred. From my
experience, racial slurs can cause the most extreme negative reactions in people. Racial slurs often

white society, no one in that room was naïve enough to believe it would disappear from white minds.
That is true for our generation, but if we can stop contaminating the minds of our children to come, the
idea of using all types of racial slurs in a negative connotation can be eliminated. I often find amongst
people of the same race use these racial slurs towards each other. They may justify them by thinking
they are just joking around, not realizing they are saying words giving the meaning of racial prejudice,

The success of most acquisitions hinges not on dollars but on people (Harding, Rouse, 2007). It is

ABSTRACT: The aim of this work is to develop an embedded system directed at automating
appliances in an industry via Ethernet. Previously Anish NK , Kowshick B , S.Moorthi presented
paper on Ethernet based Industry Automation using FPGA in year 2013 whereas GopinathS,
BhanuprasadP, Harish, SindhuraG, Gautam R.P, Shivas.v.c,Sindhu.B,James.C presented paper on
Bluetooth Communication using touch screen interface with Raspberry Pi . Considering their results
we have designed a system which employs server/client architecture; switching commands for the
appliances which are connected to the client can be received and displayed at either end. The data
containing information about the control commands are transferred between the end points of
communication using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The remote host processes the commands
received and translates them into actions of switching particular appliances ON or OFF. This type of
control system gives the liberty for control of appliances from remote locations connected through
Ethernet. A novel embedded system has been designed, implemented on Raspberry Pi and a small
scale prototype is developed and tested.

Silver Mining In Idaho
According to Mines and Minerals (n.d.), silver has been mined in Idaho since 1884. Over a billion
ounces of silver has been mined in Idaho since 1884. Idaho has two underground mines that are still
producing here in Idaho. Mines in Idaho provide important and needed jobs to many people in rural
counties. The recent growth in urban areas has increased the demand for construction materials, like
cement, sand, and gravel for aggregate (Mines and Minerals, n.d.). In this paper I will talk about the

Flexible Budget Research

A budget is considered as a standard to facilitate control work activities of the organization. Budgets
are planning tools prepared firstly to start the period being budgeted. Valuable information about the
performance contains of the difference between the actual results and the planning budgets. Therefore,
budgets are both planning tools and performance evaluation.
The most common important element in budget is some measure of anticipated output such as the

The flexible budget is a performance evaluation tool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Determine the actual volume of output achieved. 4. Before a flexible budget can be produced,
managers must identify fixed costs and variable costs. Fixed costs are costs which will not increase or
decrease over a given range of activity. Variable costs are costs which will increase or decrease over a
given range of activity.
Management have identified that the following budgeted costs are fixed:
Direct labor = $8,400
Overheads = $53,000
Identifying the expected variable cost per unit produced and sold:

Now that managers are aware of the fixed costs and the variable costs per unit it is possible to flex the
original budget to produce a budget cost allowance for 1,000 units produced and sold. For the costs
which are wholly fixed or wholly variable the calculation of the budget cost allowance is fairly
straightforward. The remaining costs are semi variable, which means that they are partly fixed and
partly variable. Setting the flexible budget:

Bad Girls Don T Die Essay
Ghosts or spirits are scary in movies. They make someone jump but, imagine being possessed by an

possessed by a spirit in her home. The spirit tries to kill a cheerleader going to Alexis s high school.
They decided to go after the spirit and try to kill it. Throughout the entire book, they find different
evidence of who the spirit is and what happened. The author wrote the book giving emotions of scare

would see in horror movies. But instead of a horror movie, it was a horror novel. Has anyone ever
changed their attitude or the way they acted? Did it scare you? One way that the author showed this to

someone scared. One way she did this was having Kasey be possessed. In ... Show more content on

This type of parenting stimulates the child s oxytocin system and causes them to seek more contact
with their parents (Nagasawa, Okabe, Mogi Kikusui, 2012). These findings suggest that there is a
positive oxytocin feedback loop between the child and their key attachment figures, which is
necessary for facilitating a successful attachment. For example Fieldman et al (2012) found that
parents reporting more parental care in childhood have higher plasma oxytocin and provide more
touch to their infants.
Stimulation or blocking of the oxytocin receptors causes individual differences in parental behaviour.
In research conducted by Donaldson Young (2008) the infusion of oxytocin was found to stimulate
maternal behaviour in virgin rats that would ordinarily ignore or attack their pups. On the other hand,
oxytocin receptor antagonists are known to reduce maternal behaviours. From the above analysis it is
evident that oxytocin is the glue for parental bonding and can be seen to have a positive genetic
impact on parenting and future attachments.
Despite this, Mascaro, Hackett and Rilling (2013) note an alternative strategy for parental caregiving.
In their study, it was found that higher testosterone levels and larger testes volume were correlated
with a lack of paternal caregiving. When viewing images of their own child, it was shown that
activation in a brain area associated with reward and motivation did predict paternal caregiving

Personal Statement In Water Engineering
The best revenge is massive success. Frank Sinatra
It may seem wired, but the sense of revenge threw me into the field of water engineering. I spent most
of my childhood outdoors on my father s farm close to a small city in the west of the province. As a
hobby, my father gave me a small part of his farm, where I grew up different crops with his help.
During that time, I enjoyed nothing more than to see the farms green. But those days did not last long
and water scarcity impacted the farm s yield, resulted in water conflicts between farmers. The whole
income of the family depleted and left no choice other than selling the farm and migrating to the
capital of the province for other means of income. During high school when my classmates were
thinking about the major primary branches of engineering such as chemistry, mechanic and electric for
their post secondary education, I was thinking about a different major. I missed ... Show more content

Among those courses, I found the hydraulic ones quite interesting, especially designing different
hydraulic structures for various water engineering purposes. Thereafter, hydraulics has become my all
time impressing subject. In fact, its attractiveness motivated me very much to become among the three
top students in related courses. Apart from hydraulics theories, I enjoyed the practical courses very
much especially my internship in a laboratory where I cooperated a PhD student to conduct
experiments on the hydraulic jump over a rough bed. This event ignited my desire for doing my own
research and advancing my education to the next level. Therefore, I took the Iranian National Entrance
Competition for Master Programs and gained the rank of 23 out of 1710 rivals for Agricultural
Engineering Hydraulic Structures program in 2008. I spent a whole year studying intensively for this
competitive exam; however, my enthusiasm helped me win a place with a very good

Chapter 1 Literature Review 1.1 Definition: Sex offender and Sexual offence A sex offender is an

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). 1.2. Statistical Data 1.2.1 Ireland Sex offenders are viewed by society as
remorseless, unrehabilitable, monsters (Scheela, 2001, p.757) therefore it is disconcerting to
comprehend sexual offences, both in Ireland and internationally are increasing. According to the

Through its cognitive behavioural approach, offenders are encouraged to develop significant life goals
and change cognitive and behavioural patterns to reduce the risk of re offending once re integrated
into the community (HM Prison Probation Service, 2017). Research shows sex offenders receiving
treatment, either in prison or in the community have lower sexual reconviction rates compared to
those who do not receive treatment, which concurs with findings from an exploratory investigation of
twenty six research studies which showed a 27% reduction in sexual offending for sex offenders
receiving treatment (Schmucker Losel, 2009). Circles of Support and Accountability schemes also
operate throughout the country and work together with sex offenders to help minimise isolation and
support re integration back into the community to reduce re offending (Circles UK,

A Business Pl Summertime Sno Cones Essay
Following is an analysis of a hypothetical business I would find pleasure enacting. When choosing to
run a business, both strategy and passion need to be present. One of my future business plans is
Summertime Sno Cones. A privately owned and operated, seasonal business that produces snow cones
at a reasonable price, in a family friendly environment. I believe an energetic and inviting snow cone
stand could bring happiness to people in my community, and could also be a lucrative business
venture.
My family currently has a snow cone business in a prime location in Hugo, Oklahoma. Upon their
retirement, they plan to pass it down to me. The building will need many, future renovations, in order
to enact my plan and make the environment more accommodating and friendly for a larger, more
diverse audience. A couple of essential changes that would need to be implemented before I opened,
would be a small expansion of the building to include more storage space, as well as renovation and
cleaning of the lot on which the business located. By graduation, I hope to have the savings needed to
buy the necessary supplies to make the aforementioned renovations. Snow cones have played an
important role in my raising and I have bonded and grown with my family over this sweet cold treat.
Currently, at the beginning of fall, my family s snow cone stand is selling an average of 100 snow
cones per day. My total fixed costs for a month of operation amount to $410. These costs consist of

Analysis Of Coca Cola s Partnership With Taylor Swift,...
Once these products are available through retailers, vending machines, and other companies, Coca
Cola has to determine who they want to make consumers aware of their beverages. The
communication model is the way for marketers to determine how their messages will work. The first
area of the model is the sources. In this part of the model, the company or individual within a
company will develop an idea. This idea is a way in which Coca Cola can convey their chosen method
to consumers through TV commercials, sales personnel, and other forms of advertisement.
Additionally, when companies decide they would like to use a celebrity to communicate their
products, details regarding the advertisement are discussed in this step. An example of this is ... Show

While TV commercials is a large portion of the way Coca Cola communicates message, it uses other
methods as well. The company uses Social Media websites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
to communicate to consumers. Additionally, the company has websites for each specific brand it owns
as well as a Coca Cola website that gives an overview of the company. By using a variety of methods,
the company is able to reach its target market and communicate messages to consumers all over.
The next area of the communication model is receiver. The receiver is the consumer who is hearing or
seeing the message the company is trying to communicate. When marketing its products, Coca Cola
intends for many consumers to see the message it is getting out. Going back to Coca Cola s campaign
of Taste the Feeling, the company has to project this message to consumers and hope they all interpret
it a similar way. By creating a TV commercial, the company was able to appeal to a wide variety of
consumers while also using a method that would appeal to a large portion of the target market. With
the Anthem commercial, the company projected the image of sitting around with friends and family
and reminiscing. This appealed to many consumers as they thought of their times sitting around with
loved ones in the past. By adding a Coca Cola in the commercial, it promoted the company and their

How Does the Development of Core Competencies Provide Both...
How does the development of core competencies provide both advantages and disadvantages for an
organisation? What steps can managers take to prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities? In
today s world competition among firms becomes globalized and more intense. In order to become
superiorly competitive, companies should enhance its competencies in a way that will allow them to
achieve dominant position in a market. One way of accomplishing it is by development of core
competencies. Competencies are considered core if they are skillfully performed and are principal to
company s strategy and its competiveness (Thompson et al, 2013). They are result of collective
learning activities (Prohalad and Hamel, 1990), a combination of ... Show more content on

For instance, mentioned by some participants in the discussion, Nokia lost its leadership in production
of mobile phones as they were unable to adapt to the new era of phones pioneered by Iphone. There
has been general consensus throughout the discussion that applying dynamic capabilities approach can
prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities. The idea of dynamic capabilities lies in a
necessity of a company to create, extend and modify its resource base, whether it would be minor
continuous improvements; creation of new resources or combination of existing ones in new ways; or
a complete renewing of the resource base, depending on how dynamic the environment is, in order to
sustain competitive advantage and address external changes. What is important here is the managers
perception of the environmental dynamism that providesthe basis for their ability to identify the need
for changes and extend those changes when necessary. According to Amrosini et al (2009), managers
who fail to identify correctly the environmental dynamism may react not accordingly to the actual
environment and, thus, apply insufficient changes (risk of strategic shift), prefer predictability of
routine past

  • 2. An Opinion On Western Strategy Essay Every journalist, public intellectual and mouthbreathing tv personality has an opinion on what western strategy should be in Syria in light of the Russian involvement. It makes for a chaos in perpetual regeneration. However, the vacuum we ve created in Syria by our inaction and the lack of leadership from president Obama and Mr Cameron having now been filled by the vile dictator Putin might make western strategy more simple. That is if we operate under the assumption we take advantage of the opportunity. Many Sunni Arab nations in the region have been unwilling to take action against ISIS and in many cases have been supporting the Islamic State materially and strategically. This is because the dominant concern for the Sunni regimes is the threat posed by the rogue axis of the Syrian Ba athist Alawite regime of Bashar Al Assad, the Shia twelver rapture cult IRGC, and their protector Vladimir Putin. Setting aside the many severe human rights offenses and the warped ideological export regime in Saudi Arabia and the embarrassment that is Turkey under the AKP and the unabashed Hitler loving islamist Erdogan, it isn t difficult to see their point. Saudi Arabia and Turkey have long been allies to the west. Saudi Arabia is actually surprisingly eager and cooperative in diplomatic matters despite their vile domestic barbarism and their fetish for pushing wahabbi islam on the world, and Turkey has become a serious liability in recent years after only being a problematic ... • 3. Disadvantages Of CHO Cells CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary) cells are cell lines extracted from the ovary of the Chinese Hamster and are exclusively used for commercial purposes in the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins. Some proteins are to be synthesized using mammalian cells rather than the commonly used microbial cells as the latter lacks the exact machinery to produce the complete protein or for safety concerns. Among the mammalian cells, CHO cells continue to be the choice for the production of several therapeutic proteins. However there are certain disadvantages associated with CHO cells which include low productivity, substrate product stability, slower growth rate, low cell density, etc. These cell lines consume nutrients continuously beyond stoichiometric needs. Thus, the mode of operation should be chosen in such a way that they overcome the disadvantages of the CHO cell line. The large scale production of therapeutic proteins in industries is done in suspension culture as the adherent cell line poses a challenge in scaling up. Currently there are two dominant modes of operation for producing therapeutic proteins based on mammalian cell lines (Hu and Aunins, 1997) in industrial scale: Fed batch bioreactors Perfusion ... • 5. Historical Context Of Le Corbusier When considering the cultural and social aspects of a building, one must study the historical context of its construction. In the 1920 s, European architecture was beginning to integrate traditional elements with the new social demands for modern technology. Although many architects and engineers were involved, Le Corbusier was the French architect who people today believe led this architectural revolution in Europe. Few are aware of the fact that Pierre Chareau also played a significant role in this modernist movement. Originally a furniture designer, the Maison de Verre was his first full scale architectural project. Doctor Jean Dalsace and his wife Annie commissioned Chareau to design their home and kept a binding friendship throughout and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As you walk through the typical Parisian entrance door of 31 Rue Saint Guillaume in the stylish sixth arrondissement of Paris, you find yourself standing in front of a large glass box. Although one could argue that the Maison de Verre is an interruption in the continuity of the Haussmannian buildings of the neighbourhood, it is still hidden away and shielded from the public eye. It may look like the odd one out, but it reflects the personality of Chareau himself as many architects today consider him as an outsider . It must be remembered that the Maison de Verre, although an overall individual achievement in the eyes of modern architecture, was a collaboration between Pierre Chareau and Bernard Bijvoet, a contemporary Dutch architect who kept a low and modest profile in relation to the buildings he contributed to. In addition, the skilled metalworker and craftsman Louis Dalbet contributed to the fabrication of the mechanical toys. Although it received initial criticism for its controversial nature, the Maison de Verre is a unique and significant contribution to 20th century architecture. Since its construction, the Maison de Verre has proven to be a touchstone for architects throughout the world, including Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Glenn Murcutt and many others ... More so, the Atlantic/Maritime colonies of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia rejected the idea of a Canadian federal government, which was based on the political leadership of William Annand of Nova Scotia and Albert J. More so, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were often marginalized in these discussions, since they were not as economically powerful as Quebec or Ontario. In this case, the Confederacy Party of Nova Scotia, under the leadership of Charles Tupper, had temporarily failed to win over the people to federalization. The distrust between the Nova Scotia parliament and the mainland provinces was a major barrier to Confederacy due to a lack of representational government under the Union Act: In Nova Scotia, William Annand contended: It was a matter of very serious import to the people of this province when they learned from such an authority that their rights and privileges were to be swept away without their being consulted (Ajzenstat ... He then turned to Table 11.2 for soft tissue spine injuries. Although debated, the TV is often credited as being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent for the TV, but it was Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal on September 7, 1927. A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing the image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the bottom of the image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the individual picture elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform; secondly, by transmitting the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as voltage levels of a video signal; and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a video signal display of parallel scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to produce images, and operated with an analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed over time and broadcast signals transitioned from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasma televisions were created. These TVs are more compact, are flatter and have crisper pictures than their cathode ray counterparts because the bulky tube is removed, and in its stead they use a thin grid of pixels to create the images (Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015)(Computerhope.com, 2015) (Lapin, 2015) If the sound as you hear it from the television had ... To you it could mean no more war, no more poverty, every person of every race and gender being treated exactly the same. In Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy, and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury the idea of a perfect world is not just an idea anymore, it becomes reality. Nevertheless, both books perfect world are completely different from one another. The theme of both books is to try and find that perfect world, and maintain it. While there are many may differences between the two, the underlying truth still remains the same. In Bellamy s novel, we start out in the late nineteenth century. Julian West, the main character, was born into an aristocratic family. Just as the rest of his class did, Julian thought of himself to be a higher rated citizen to the rest of the population. Julian had everything, even his fiancé Edith was an aristocrat, and together they felt as if they could take on the world. The gap between the rich and the poor sometimes affected the rich just as much as it did the poor. The two were to get married as soon as their house was finished, but strikes from the poor construction workers were prolonging that process. Make sure you recognize the need to work every major muscle group, and start with the larger muscle of each group. For example, when you work your arms, work your biceps and then move on to the triceps. You may have a natural tendency to hold your breath on the contraction when strength training, so make a conscious effort to exhale on the contraction and inhale on the release. How often you perform your weight training depends on your fitness plan. If you work all your muscle groups during the same training session, you only need to weight train two or three times a week. If you only work certain muscle groups on certain days, you may need to workout four or more days to work each muscle group at least twice a week. Whichever plan you follow, remember not to work the same muscle groups two days in a row. Always allow a day of rest in between. Cardiovascular training Cardiovascular activity has many benefits. Squeeze the samples and try to form it into a ball or a ribbon and determine its texture. Afterwards, do the same test again and determine the consistence and observe the soil structure. First, using the forest soil, use twist ties to suspend the dry columns and the water saturated columns from the previous day in plastic vials. Put 10 mL of water in the 60 cc cup. Record how long it takes for the first drop of water to come out the bottom to the column. Watch until there is no more water standing on top of the column. Do this for the dry forest soil and humus. Human societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of human existence. With the evolution of human civilization the need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the early 20th century demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing technologies. Coal, oil, and natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of energy, but these resources have only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step in humanities source for a sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has started to decline in use primarily due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan. Considering their results we have designed a system which employs server/client architecture; switching commands for the appliances which are connected to the client can be received and displayed at either end. The data containing information about the control commands are transferred between the end points of communication using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The remote host processes the commands received and translates them into actions of switching particular appliances ON or OFF. This type of control system gives the liberty for control of appliances from remote locations connected through Ethernet. In this paper I will talk about the characteristics of silver, what silver is used for, and the economics associated with the silvers collection. Characteristics of Silver According to Silver (n.d.), the characteristics of silver is that it is a soft, white metal that occurs in nature in four forms. The first form is as a native element. Budgets are planning tools prepared firstly to start the period being budgeted. Valuable information about the performance contains of the difference between the actual results and the planning budgets. Therefore, budgets are both planning tools and performance evaluation. The most common important element in budget is some measure of anticipated output such as the number of units to be produce, the number of units to be sold, the cost of good sold_direct material, direct labor, overhead cost,.. need in production, selling and administrative expenses,.... Before a flexible budget can be produced, managers must identify fixed costs and variable costs. Fixed costs are costs which will not increase or decrease over a given range of activity. Variable costs are costs which will increase or decrease over a given range of activity. Management have identified that the following budgeted costs are fixed: Direct labor = $8,400 Overheads = $53,000 Identifying the expected variable cost per unit produced and sold: [pic] Now that managers are aware of the fixed costs and the variable costs per unit it is possible to flex the original budget to produce a budget cost allowance for 1,000 units produced and sold. For the costs which are wholly fixed or wholly variable the calculation of the budget cost allowance is fairly straightforward. The remaining costs are semi variable, which means that they are partly fixed and partly variable. • 41. Bad Girls Don T Die Essay Ghosts or spirits are scary in movies. They make someone jump but, imagine being possessed by an evil one. That is what my book Bad Girls Don t Die By: Katie Alender was about. Just to give a small idea about the book, a high school girl is living the normal life when her little sister, Kasey, gets possessed by a spirit in her home. The spirit tries to kill a cheerleader going to Alexis s high school. They decided to go after the spirit and try to kill it. Throughout the entire book, they find different evidence of who the spirit is and what happened. The author wrote the book giving emotions of scare or terror, frightened or startled, and disgust. To do so she used lots of words and examples that you would see in horror movies. But instead of a horror movie, it was a horror novel. Has anyone ever changed their attitude or the way they acted? Did it scare you? One way that the author showed this to be in the horror genre is throughout the book there was many parts that gave someone terror or made someone scared. One way she did this was having Kasey be possessed. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were over ten deaths showed in this book. • 42. Pro Social Behavior And Social Behaviour Pro social behaviour can be defined as any behaviour which has the immediate goal of helping or benefiting others (Smith Mackie, 2007). Two neuropeptides which have been closely connected to pro social behaviour are oxytocin and vasopressin. Recent evidence has shown that these neuropeptides play an important role in mediating the regulation of social cognition and behaviours such as pair bonding, attachment and anxiety (Bartels Zeki, 2004; Nagasawa, Okabe, Mogi, Kikusui, 2012) Through the use of neuroimaging and other non invasive techniques, such research can offer insight into the understanding of the mechanisms by which oxytocin and vasopressin contribute to pro social behaviour and may also help to explain the neural systems of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of parenting stimulates the child s oxytocin system and causes them to seek more contact with their parents (Nagasawa, Okabe, Mogi Kikusui, 2012). These findings suggest that there is a positive oxytocin feedback loop between the child and their key attachment figures, which is necessary for facilitating a successful attachment. For example Fieldman et al (2012) found that parents reporting more parental care in childhood have higher plasma oxytocin and provide more touch to their infants. Stimulation or blocking of the oxytocin receptors causes individual differences in parental behaviour. In research conducted by Donaldson Young (2008) the infusion of oxytocin was found to stimulate maternal behaviour in virgin rats that would ordinarily ignore or attack their pups. On the other hand, oxytocin receptor antagonists are known to reduce maternal behaviours. From the above analysis it is evident that oxytocin is the glue for parental bonding and can be seen to have a positive genetic impact on parenting and future attachments. Despite this, Mascaro, Hackett and Rilling (2013) note an alternative strategy for parental caregiving. In their study, it was found that higher testosterone levels and larger testes volume were correlated with a lack of paternal caregiving. When viewing images of their own child, it was shown that activation in a brain area associated with reward and motivation did predict paternal caregiving (Mascaro, ... I spent most of my childhood outdoors on my father s farm close to a small city in the west of the province. As a hobby, my father gave me a small part of his farm, where I grew up different crops with his help. During that time, I enjoyed nothing more than to see the farms green. But those days did not last long and water scarcity impacted the farm s yield, resulted in water conflicts between farmers. The whole income of the family depleted and left no choice other than selling the farm and migrating to the capital of the province for other means of income. I believe an energetic and inviting snow cone stand could bring happiness to people in my community, and could also be a lucrative business venture.
