Personal And Professional Characteristics Of Star Performers
About the Author Robert Kelley, the author of this book is a professor at Carnegie Mellon
University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He spent years researching the personal and professional
characteristics of star performers. His ideas and work have appeared on NBC Today Show, CBS
Evening News, ABC, CNN, National Public Radio, The New York Times, Fortune, Forbes,
Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, Industry Week, Nation s Business, Barron s, Atlantic
Monthly, and in many other major U.S newspaper. This book, How to be a Starat Work was on the
best sellers list on Amazon for 20 weeks.
Introduction
How to be A Star at Work focuses on how to improve work ethics and become a star performer. Star
performers are workers who add more value than average workers. They tend to produce better
results and earn quicker promotions than the average worker. They attract a great amount of
interest and admiration within the company. People who admire star producers, assume the
results are from an high IQ or ingrown ability to reason that is better than most people in their
situation. It is also from exceptional personality factors such as self confidence, and a highly
refined social factor such as being able to gather a team of motivated workers. An academic
study of star performers found high producers were similar to their co workers in terms of IQ,
personality, and social skills. According to the book, being a star performer has little to do with
having a high IQ. It has to do

Comparing French Film Carax And Holy Motors
If you knew nothing about french film you might think that this film is the weirdest/dumbest film
you have ever seen. When in reality it s the exact opposite. Carax is a genius and exemplifies
french culture and cinema as well as global cinema and culture in his film Holy Motors. He does
this by pushing the boundaries of what should be seen on the big screen, evoking emotion and
portraying a message for the viewer to ponder on.
What makes this film a great piece of french cinema is the connections it draws to other films, You
can see throughout film subtle hints at older pieces of french cinema which leads you to the
conclusion that Leos Carax was heavily influenced by such films. Throughout the course of the
film Carax dropped some subtle hints at some classic french films. He even went as far as casting

How Does Monetary Policy Affect Housing Development

UNIT 2: Interest Rates
MONETARY POLICY AND HOUSING MARKET DEVELOPMENTS
INSTRUCTOR: Sali Bakare
DATE SUBMITTED: 09/14/2016
Abstract
After reading the paper carefully, I see that the role the setting of monetary policy played in housing
market developments was smaller than a lot of researchers suggests, although monetary policies do
really influence in housing market developments. One can easily conclude monetary policy was not
a primary cause of the bubble in house prices and activity. Yes, there was a contribution by the fed s
interest rate policies to the housing bubble, but only to an extent. But also there is evidence that the
monetary policy was aligned with the goals of policymakers and with the real time overall thought
at that time. Taking into considerations what the paper suggests, one can at least have a doubt
whether the relationship between the house bubble and activity and the interest rates and monetary
policies is not strong enough to explain such a shift in the house prices and residential investments.
Introduction
Why does the monetary policy affect housing development? We have to look further on the
economic value housing brings to an economy. Housing is an essential sector of the economy but
also one that has been the source of vulnerabilities and crises. Hence, while the recent recovery in
global housing markets is a welcome development, we need to guard against another unsustainable
boom.

At the point when the term Nuclear Power or Nuclear Energy gets utilized for the most part the

Atomic force is significantly more than just bombs and annihilation, bombs scarcely even take

village life is better than city
when the research don t work it should be think by mind.
Today s life has many difficulties and people are the victims, so they plan to make it easy as they
canother. So they can reach a good position. They have more friends in the community since it is
small. The village people always try to protect their traditional habits and culture. The village has
clean air and the environment is very beautiful. The village has less noise and rush. So the
pollution is less. The village has not lot of vehicles. So roads are less dangerous for driving
cycling. They can get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. The environment of the village is pleasant

Sample Theme Essay on Amigo Brothers
SAMPLE ESSAY ON THEME The Amigo Brothers, written by Piri Thomas, is a story about a
special friendship between two boys. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown
up together and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream
of a future in which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help
each other train regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the
first time ever, they have to compete against one another in a match. In the end, however, their
relationship survives because both boys value their friendship above their ambitions. Through the
words, thoughts, and actions of Antonio and Felix, the author expresses the... Show more content on

Felix, too, tries to block out his thoughts and feelings about Antonio, but while he is sitting in a
movie theater, his thoughts are so much with Antonio that he keeps imagining Antonio s face on
the movie screen while he, Felix, is punching him out. Both boys are unable to stop thinking about
protecting the other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the
boys to testify to the value of friendship. Finally, the story s theme is relayed through the final
actions of the boys. During the fight, both are focused on winning the match. Each attacks the other
with full force. The fight becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water
is poured on both of them, they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened
to them, they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of
the fight, but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys
leave the ring arm in arm. The reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most
important to them. What they really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through
the ultimate actions of the boys. In conclusion, the boys choice to leave

C60 Unit 9 Lab Report
Introduction
Fullerenes are molecules composed entirely of carbon in the form of a hallow sphere, ellipsoid,
tube, or plane. In this experiment, the purpose is to use cyclic voltammetry to infer about the
electron transfer in MOs of fullerenes and understand orbital energy and composition. The first
part of the experiment is an electrochemical characterization of C60. A sample of C60 В¬is
dissolved and transferred into an electrochemical cell. Cyclic voltammetry, a potential wave form is
used for determination of formal redox potentials, detection of chemical reactions that precede or
follow the electrochemical reaction and evaluation of electron transfer kinetics.

Huckel Theory describes interaction between orbitals using overlap integrals, simplifying by
making the overlap of non adjacent atoms equal to zero. Extended Huckel does not assume non
adjacent atoms are equal to zero, and uses K(1.7 2.0) to calculate the integrals.
The major difference between the two theories is the limitation of the orbitals each theory can
calculate. Huckel theory can only calculate ПЂ orbital electrons and planar molecules, whereas the
extended theory can also calculate non polar and other types of molecular orbitals.

The redox reaction will transfer the electrons from the HUMO, through oxidation, to the LUMO,
through reduction. The redox potential is the energy that allows the transfer of electrons.

What Are The Ways Of Hemingway
The Ways of Hemingway
Is Hemingway s troublesome history with women the reason why his women characters do not
have a significant role in his short stories? It may seem as so. Throughout his lifetime
Hemingway has had numerous wives or girlfriends, most of them containing conflict. Many
occurrences like the ones he has had with these women are reflected in his works along with
problems with race and coming of age. In Indian Camp , Nick, his Uncle George and his father
travel across a lake to an Indian Camp where there is a lady that has been trying to give birth for
two days. Nick s father is a doctor so he was asked to come over to the camp to help her deliver the

And looking into his marriage he has never truly found that which reflects on to the women in these
two short stories. In Indian Camp the Indian woman is trying to birth her baby and a situation
happens with Uncle George She bit Uncle George on the arm and Uncle George said, Damn
squaw bitch! (93). The indian woman is not referred to by name and also is called two very
insulting words. According to Margaret Bauer, only ceasing her screaming to bite Uncle

the wife is not referred to by name and she is given the role of a subdued wife where she ends
every sentence with dear when talking to her husband, Aren t you going back to work, dear?
Asked the wife from the room where she was lying with the blinds drawn (101). The women play
very minor roles in both stories and they both come off as irritating by the screams and asking
constant questions. The males, however, give the women much attitude and talk to them with
superiority in their voice, where the women are polite. Nick even choses his father of his

Zora exhibits these tendancies, which, taken separately, have been expounded upon but not yet
fully exhausted, and the time has come to realize her as a postmodern force.
Jean Francois Lyotard, in his essay, The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge, defines
postmodernism as incredulity toward metannaratives (Lyotard, 71). This works out to mean that
the overarching metanarrative of the world, which is given to us by the ruling class if one
subscribes to class theories, that forms our worldview has failed to fulfill our needs. The world is
now seen as intersecting micronarratives; people can relate because their personal explanation of
the world connects with another s explanation, but are recognizably individual because no two
worldviews are identical. All micronarratives are equally valid in Lyotard s theories, and this fits in
nicely with postmodernism s push towards inclusion rather than marginalization. This theory also
pushes postmodernism into one of its other major facets, the breakdown of binary systems.
Hassan is the pundit of the anti binarial division of the postmodern. He details that postmodernism
is not anti modernism; it is not a reaction to or successive movement. Indeed, it is different than
modernism, but also shares many

Tactics to implement the strategy
Kudler needs to find a way to know the business of its supplier or its distributors, so as to reduce
cost and the uncertainty that comes with doing business with them. In doing so, they stand a
better of surviving at long run in the market they intend to dominate one stop shop. Kudler need
to employ the porter s model so as to be competitive. Kudler needs to analyze the threat of new
competitors, the bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining of its customers, threat of substitute
product or services and rivalry among existing firms in the industry (Turban 2003). From the
products they offer, they have incorporated the bargaining power of customers into consideration
and providing substitutes in the same product line. The business level strategy should be a mix of
cost leadership strategy with differentiation strategy built in. In doing so, they are positioned to
always increase their earnings. In cost leadership, it requires firm to carry out its activities more
efficiently than competitors, passing some of the cost savings to consumers in the form of lower
prices (Gomez Mejia 2002). A differentiation strategy requires a firm to continuously invest in the
creation of new products or add new features to existing products so that customers believe the

Emotional Analysis Of KFC
Commercial analyze KFC
I have chosen to analyze an old commercial from KFC. I do not know from which year the
commercial is from but the commercial is from the USA. The type of product in the commercial is
fast food and more specific fried chicken. In the commercial there is no obvious slogan, but they
say Kentucky fried chicken which I think is the slogan in this commercial.
The target audience for the commercial is Housewives and their family. The commercial needs to
get attention from people in general because they are the people that is supposed to eat the fried
chicken, but it also need to get attention from the housewives since they are making the food in the
households.
To summarize the commercial music is played in the background through the whole commercial.
The commercial starts with showing some scenes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two arguments are supposed to give the audience more information so they want to buy the
food. While they talk about how the food is made and seasoned they use an emotional argument, to
get the audience feel that they want to eat the food. ... so whenever you are pressed for time... this
line is also an emotional argument, they want the audience to feel the feeling when they do not got
so much time. And the feeling of in that kind of situations it would be nice with food from
Kentucky Fried Chicken.
I do not think that the commercial objectify anyone. Because objectifying is when you use a
person as an object instead of a person, which is not shown in the commercial. Stereotypes is
something that is used in the commercial. That the housewives got the responsibility for the
household to take care of the house and make the food is a stereotype for women. Another
stereotype that you can fins in the commercial is only white

Homeless People Position Essay
One of the problems at hand that not only us, in the United States have but, all around the world in
different countries have, is homeless people.
According to Social Solutions there are 564,708 people in the United States that are homeless as of
2016. 15% of the homeless are chronically homeless, which means an individual who has disability
and has experienced homelessness for a year or longer. 35% are families who can t afford housing,
8% of the homeless are veterans due to poverty and overcrowding in government housing, and the
rest of the homeless are single young adults who either got rejected for being who they are or
there was conflict and they ran away.( Social Solutions) The National Alliance to End
Homelessness explains, Homeless youth are less likely to spend time in the same places as
homeless people who are in an older age range. They are often less willing to disclose that they re
experiencing homelessness or may not even identify as homeless. They also may work harder to
try to blend in with peers who aren t homeless. (The National Alliance to End Homelessness).
So even though people don t see homeless young adults as often as they see middle age ones or
older, they re there, they just try to blend in as one of their peers. Compare to 2014 the USA is
doing great. In 2014 poverty was 20% higher than it is today. The higher the poverty rate... Show

Intellectual Disability Depicted In The Film The Other Sister
The movie, The Other Sister tells a story about a young woman in her early twenties named Carla
Tate, who struggles with adjusting to normative societal constructs after being institutionalized for
over ten years. Once Carla graduates from the institution she is quickly reintegrated into her family
s first class environment with the help from her overly protective mother, her passive father, and
her uninvolved sisters. Carla is determined to work for her independence by going to school,
obtaining a degree, living on her own, and seeking out love (Hoberman, 1999).

For example, it was earlier stated that parents of children that have a disability tend to be
overprotective. This is an example of a negative, yet accurate depiction. It is negative because of
the obvious negative outcomes that overprotectiveness can have, just as the film showed for
Carla; Carla often felt smothered by her mother and lead her to run a way. Another negative
aspect was the flashbacks of Carla s childhood where she would be teased and bullied because
she was different . While this description is negative, as discussed earlier, it is also sadly
accurate. A positive yet accurate depiction would be the ability for Carla to fall in love. To have
the ability to feel emotions and express them can be a beautiful thing, and at times be one of the
most self fulfilling thing that a person can do in their life. Carla and Danny both fell in love and
felt an array of emotions that where normal and nothing but common in those that have a mild
disability. One of the biggest positive messages that this film pushed was the ability for an adult
with a mild disability to be able to have independence and to live on their own. This was
something that Carla wanted desperately for herself, just like any other person would want for
themselves as an adult (Abery, Disabilty and the Family, 2017;

Pricing vs. Costing
To determine the price for the product or service, the firm must understand the costs for running the
business. If the price is not enough to recover costs, the cash flow will be negative and the business
will fail.
Costs include: o Property and equipment leases o Loan repayments o Inventory o Utilities o
Financing costs o Salaries/wages/commissions. o Markdowns o Shortages o Damaged merchandise
o Employee discounts o Desired profit
Profit should be added to the list of costs and treated as a fixed cost. Nobody runs a business just to
break even.
Pricing as a Component of the Marketing Mix
Generally, marketing mix denotes the four Ps of marketing:
Product
Price
Place (distribution)
Promotion Before a product is developed, a firm needs to come up with a marketing strategy. This
involves selecting the target market and product positioning. Usually, there has to be a balance
between product quality and price. This way, price plays an important role in the marketing mix.
Pricing will always be determined by these tradeoffs

There were many battles on the coast of the Barbary States. One major battle took place on
February 16, 1804, along the Tripoli harbor. The U.S warship Philadelphia began to sink near
the Tripoli coast. Its sailors were already held captive, as the pirates tried to use the ship. There
was about 307 of the sailors who were held captive. There was a great chance that the pirates
were from Tripoli. Lieutenant Stephen Decatur, a well known leading sailor, saw this as a
problem. Even though the pirates had already took the ship, he didn t want them to use
Philadelphia. Lieutenant Decatur decided to burn down the Philadelphia so that it wouldn t be

Decatur burned it down. He had no choice but to destroy the ship led by the cruel pirates. This

A Hero s Journey Behind A Seagull
Guido was a seagull that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in Aberdeen, Scotland. This
area was not an ideal setting to raise a family of seagulls, however, his parents did the best they
could with what they had. His parents were poor and had to beg to have enough food to feed their
flock, but young Guidodid not know any different. He always had food and shelter while his
world remained small and familiar. As Guido started to mature, he met other seagulls in his
neighborhood. He was so excited, as he finally had something that he could call his, and that was
his friends. He became close friends with another seagull named Tony. Tony and Guido became
the best of friends and could always be seen playing, walking and flying around the park. It was a

He captured the store owner s attention, who immediately grabbed a broom and started swatting
at Al. Guido then rushed the store and grabbed the crisp and then, he heard something go terribly
wrong on his way out of the store. The store owner caused such a disturbance with his swatting,
that his last swing, hit an old woman in the head. Due to the force of the broom, she screamed
and fell into an entire row of candy and cookies knocking the once neat shelves, on the floor. The
store owner paused to help the old woman that had just been knocked over, and Al saw his

Effect of Business Acquisition to Get Competitive...
Effect of business acquisition to get competitive advantage based on the case study: Acquisition of
Somerfield by Co operative group
Background:
Business acquisition is one of the most vital tools to expand an existing business effectively. An
acquisition takes place when an existing company buys another company which has more or less
similar operating activities and ended up controlling it. It is clearly different from merger which is
the integration of a business with another and sharing the control of the combined businesses
collectively. Mergers and acquisitions(M amp;As) have long been considered as an one of the most
highly appreciated method to achieve the desired growth rate and satisfying the key stakeholders.

Managing the process of acquisition correctly is the major challenge to make an acquisition
work. A number of different factors that ranges from setting well defined goals to look for
circumstances under which it will make sense to walk away must be carefully considered to
make a successful acquisition. In order to carry out an acquisition activity one must first
understand whether the business is ready for it. A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats) analysis can be carried out to assess the condition of the business as it might give a
clear direction about how to take maximum advantage of the strengths, resolve weaknesses,
exploit opportunities and avoid threats. Another way to understand whether the business is
ready for an acquisition is to carrying out a strategic gap analysis. This involves identifying
where the business stands now where one wants to see it after a defined period of time. By
identifying the gap between the two one can decide whether acquisition is well enough to bridge
the gap. However the extent of planning and research that can be done before making an
acquisition decision does not always prove to be enough as situations outside of control may arise
and one have to be prepared for these risks. Degree of uncertainty and the time and effort that are
spent for the deal can in effect damage the performance

The Importance Of Population Development In Australia
200 years after Australia s Indigenous forcibly had to share their land, the growth of population and
development that Australia has experienced is unprecedented. Currently Australia s population
stands at 24 Million and it is on a continuous rise, due to a combination of both, a high birth rate and
a significant number of immigrants per annum. As a multicultural nation, the immigrationintake is a
major factor, and is said to have generated just over half (56%) of population growth, this is due to
the demand to settle permanently in Australia, work for an amount of time or study as student
(Wilson, 2017). Furthermore, interest in population policy was once again visited in 2010, when
the current Prime Minister Kevin Ruddproclaimed that he supported a Big Australia , along with a
released prediction that by 2050 Australia s population would reach 36 Million (Brown, 2011,
pp.1). However, the opposition leader Tony Abbott, took this opportunity to gather support from
the public, and argued for a sustainable population policy, and calling Rudd out on a reckless
commitment , which Julia Gillard once Rudd was ousted, was also quick to favour, focusing her
views on a sustainable approach to population growth (Brown, 2011, pp.2). The population policy
debate is widely discussed and a driver for public concern, but the birth rate and the rate of net
overseas migration is on a continuous high and both factors are relatively hard to control or predict.

Example Of A Media Fan
A media Fan is seen as a subject that is trivialized and dismissed and so this essay will investigate
how a fan is a complex and contradictory arena for critical enquiry A fan is depicted to be
obsessed, lonely and false worshippers but fans can be more than that as they can be active
producers that develop their own meanings from the media. This essay will discuss how fans are
seen as destructive and deviant as well as how they can be useful textual poachers who construct
their own culture from materials. Relevant examples will be included as evidence. A fan is
abbreviated from the word fanatic which means someone who is overly obsessed with a specific
celebrity (Jenkins, 1992:12). A fan is normally someone who has an interest in a celebrity and sees
them as an icon and someone they can identify with due to Jenkins (1992:13). Fans are seen as less

This is good for the media as people are discussing media texts bringing in interest from viewers
and new meanings are analysed (Jonathan et al, 2007:9). Due to Jonathan et al (2007:9) media
fans have gone into activities and practices that bring worth to the media for example editing,
writing campaigns and blogs. Textual poachers create a community within society that people can
relate to as fans will share the same feelings about a specific show and this brings them together
(Jonathan et al, 2007:10). An example is the Beauty and the Beast as fans construct their own
meanings from the film and they collectively discuss the outcome of the story and they construct a
critical analysis of the story (Jenkins, 1992:34). These fans have common ideological beliefs and
they share interests with each other and so this states that fans are seen as active producers and
skilled manipulators of the media due to Jenkins

My Observations At Rose Rock School Commenced

the steps to get the doors and knocked on the door and only then noticed a small sign that said
for people to use the back door. The front door was then opened by a woman that asked if I was
Megan, I said yes. When I walked in I noticed that the roomshad no doors and the first room had
most likely been a living room and the room next to it a dining room. The lady that had let me in
said she would get Shanah and let her know I was here. I met Shanah and she explained that I
would be observing in the room that is next to the living room and that parents start dropping off
their children at eight in the morning.
While we talked, I asked Shanah how many children are in her group and she said thirteen
children, which included her own son that is one and a half years old. As we talked, the children
started arriving and she got them to sit down at the table and told them that they were going to
make art craft for their mother for mother s day. While Shanah was cutting the cloth, another
caregiver came into the room and I asked her what the ages the children in this group was and she
replied that the children in this group were between 1 ВЅ and 6 years old. After this caregiver left, I

Examples Of Tribute Speech For Scouts

fundamentals of scouting. The fact that I am being awarded the Boy Scouts Wood Badge is only a
novelty perk of being a Scout master. And as I stand before you, I would like to remind you all

It is unfortunate and embarrassing for me to admit, but I was one of those people who was
under the impression that scouts only helped the elderly across the road and go on camping
trips, I soon found out that this is very far from the truth. Even from the first day, I began to
understand that to be a scout is to serve your community in such a way that you are not the sole
benefactor but just the provider. This couldn t have been more evident than in the actions of the
scout master who was not only a scout master, but a teacher, a volunteer at his church, and
family man. It was through his passion and enthusiasm for the scouts that made me realize that I
need to be a part of this troop family and contribute to making a difference in our youth today. As
John F. Kennedy said in his Inaugural address Let the word go forth from this time and place, to

Cubism In Pablo Picasso s Les Demoiselles DAvignon
Pablo Picasso s painting, Les Demoiselles D avignon uses the elements of color, line, and shape
to make the statement: Of young women in avignon. Picasso spent nine months painting Les
Demoiselles D avignon, this paintings one of his most famous examples of cubism. Picasso
proved to exist as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. He also
joined an artist production that he spiritually believed would keep him alive. Picasso spent 80
out of his 91 years of living devoted to this group. While devoted to this group, he painted Les
demoiselles d avignon . The painting consists of five prostitutes that stood on the street corner
named Avignon, the red light district of Barcelona, a street that Picasso would frequently visit. The
females in this painting fill the entire space, and they almost look as if they could be trapped. I
believe that picasso made these women fill the space completely, attempting to symbolize the fact
that the women were trapped in a lifestyle that they did not want to exist in.
Picasso, much like the women of avignon, did not enjoy life during the time of this painting.
Every painting Picasso did encouraged him to make it better than the previous, which I believe he
truly captured all of that inside this painting. Picasso used colors to express the emotions he
experienced during this period of time. He mainly used red, blue, white, and black. Picasso tried to
keep the paint color as accurate to skin tone as he could

There are also some elements taken from the arts and humanities such as philosophy, history and

Roughly speaking, HRM is mostly concerned with individual and group issues, drawing principally,
but not exclusively, from psychology, whereas OB tends to focus on organisational factors such as

The Social Responsibility Of The Workplace
Introduction
Archie Carroll defines corporate social responsibility (CSR) as the social responsibility of business
encompassing the economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary expectations that society has of these
organizations at a given point in time. (Crane, 5) Interesting enough, there has been an abrupt
growth of firm s engagement in CSR within all industries. This is the result of growing requests
from the civil society demanding firms, of all sizes, to legitimize their practices. (Crane, 4)
More importantly, workplace issues have become an integral part of corporate social responsibility.
This includes a firm s lacking efforts in its occupational health and safety, and its fair pay and
conditions, amongst others. (Crane, 253) As employees reside in the midst of companies engaging
in corporate social responsibility, the reputation of the firm relies profoundly on ensuring all those
within the in house workplaces as well as the outsourced workplaces are treated justly and within
the operating country s legislation. (Crane, 253) Further to this, social injustice that occurs can
negatively affect the firm s reputation and brand favorability. (Crane, 254) Therefore, it was within
the firm s best interests to fulfill their core corporate responsibilities in the workplace. Albeit
corporations may have the intention to act within labour standards, circumstances do arise where
the rights of employees are neglected and the morality of the firm is questioned.

The Benefits Of Peaceful Protests
With the recent election and the noticeable division in our country today, it is worth noting the
benefits of a peaceful protest compared the most violent of protests. Does even the strongest
person have any control over a government if they cannot exhibit their self control? Is a
government going to listen to a bunch of violent citizens or a group of young people standing
against a law with signs? Throughout history it is shown that positive resistance to laws positively
impacts a free society by promoting a peaceful community of citizens and increases the chance of a
governmentlistening to its people and their concerns. Through the use of peaceful protests, a
country can unite under one belief in a positive way, inspiring each other to continue fighting for...

Because of the increased violence, more laws and restrictions will be set in place to take charge
of the people. If a government is too focused on enforcing laws to stop violence, then the free
society that the people are living in soon turns to be more controlling. Keeping a free society relies
on the government focusing on the needs of the people not the needs of the government; if
violence were to be the people s solution, government would not be able to focus on the needs of
the people, but the need to fix the destruction being caused. Martin Luther King Jr. states that
creative tension needs to be implemented in order for a community that has constantly refused to
negotiate is forced to confront the issue. The ideas of Martin Luther King Jr. and his peaceful
resistance is the creative part of it all. Turn resistance into something positive, and the government
will have to respond with care and diligence to mimic its people. Having the government confront
the problem with a concerned yet calm attitude will ultimately leave the people with as much, or
more freedom than they originally

For the GCSE unit two exam we studied the play Blood Brothers by Willy Russell we used drama
techniques to analyse the different Features of the play. Also, we went into detail with the context
behind the meaning of the play. We used the script as a stimulus to generate a story with the text
from the play. For example, we used a specific part in the play where the narrator stated How
quickly an idea planted can take root and grow into a plan. The thought conceived in this very room
grew as surely as a seed in the mother s womb . This was used to create a piece of dramawhich had

For example, when Petro said to Michael in a very high pitched voice that You ll go to hell and
there you ll fry . This was seen on page 36 where Mickey used foul language. This was effective
for the audience as it showed the way that children exaggerate to every little thing and their playful
attitude.
In Pietro s group, they used an essence machine to show that everything is just a game. This acts
in contrast to the themes of the play Fate, bad luck and destiny. This is because the play has a
serious ending to it as the twins die. Also, Mrs Lyons and Mrs Johnston played around with the
destiny of the boys by taking on the role of God and deciding who gets to look after which twin.
Facial expressions were used for example this was seen when Tyres was playing Mrs Lyons and
Amirah was playing Mrs Johnston Amirah told Tyres that she was pregnant with twins. He
grinned and looked up at the sky this was used to show the audience that he was evil and sinister.
This related back to the theme of Nature vs. nurture this is because the twins were both raised is
two different environments. This was used to show how manipulative Mrs Lyons was. Also, as he
was talking to Mrs Lyons rolled her eyes to show how confused she was this showed that they had
different mindsets this being because of the difference in

Differences Between Morgenthau And Kant
A school of thought, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a point of view held by a
particular group. Schools of thought relating to world politics are theories that have been the center
and cause of countless debates. Two of the most well known and influential schools of thought in
the realm of international politics are realism and liberalism. While the ideas making up both
systems have been around for centuries, each school has been since furthered and analyzed by
international relationsexperts and philosophers. Two notable figures of realism and liberalism are
Hans Morgenthauand Immanuel Kant, respectively, who formed basic principles that became the
center of each school of thought. There are several key differences between Morgenthau and Kant.
Some of these lie in their opposing views on international systems, states as actors in international
affairs, and ethical issues. Others revolve around government systems and the concept of human
nature.
Hans Morgenthau, a philosopher of realist thought, believed individual states to be the most
important actors on the international stage. He argues that states are self interested forces
constantly vying with other states for dominance; that they re vying with them for power. Power
refers to anything that establishes and maintains the control of man over man. States are
consistently consumed with the process of maintaining the power they already have and acquiring
more. In Politics Among Nations, Morgenthau

Ancient Greece s Influence On American Civilization

Essay On Taking Smart Pills
I believe that students who take nonprescription medication for enhanced cognitive ability have an
unfair advantage over students who choose not to take these smart pills . Those suffering from
disorders like ADD, ADHD, or even ADT may find these drugs useful to achieve normal brain
function and should therefore take them. However, if a studentconsumes these substances simply to
experience enhanced cognition, memory, and focus, this is the academic equivalent of an athlete

Causing improved cognition and sharper focus, students can place higher on tests and have
more overall success when delving into tasks requiring strong memory and steady concentration.
These pills can also assist in blocking out distractions so students can stay on task for longer
periods of time. By making these drugs available to all adults, pharmacies would likely see an
increase in smart pill sales. This excess profit could potentially be applied to funding for more
extensive research of these drugs. Adults could then make more knowledgeable decisions when
considering use of nootropics. Potential drawbacks of taking smart pills include expense to the
individual. Adults would have to adjust personal spending habits to account for the cost of these
pills. These drugs can become habit forming, and tolerance builds over time. Increased tolerance
means more money spent on higher dosages of the drug to achieve the desired effect.
Experimenting with smart pills can lead to dependence or even drug addiction, as individuals

Analysis Of The Other Wes Moore
Effort and Success s obvious correlation. Free will and determinism are like a game of cards. The
hand that is dealt you is determinism. The way you play your hand is free will. Norman
Cousins. This quote was the basic underlying moral of the book The Other Wes Moore and the
short story The Third and Final Continent. The poem if acts as a guideline for a person s
willpower. The poem If shows the reader the steps to follow to come out of a situation of doubt
with sheer will power. The Other Wes Moore conveys this same theme when the main character
breaks out of poverty in a first desperate, but then determined childhood. The Third and Final
Continent follows the story of a talented young student and the hardships faced in his unfamiliar
new life in The United States of America. These texts, If, The Other Wes Moore, and The Third
and Final Continent represent how effort becomes the driving force of success even in
improbable circumstances through use of setting, characterization, and conflict. Setting can
affect a characters outcome drastically which directly affects the theme. The Other Wes Moore
utilizes the environment to show the dis advantages that Wes faced in order to get out of the
poverty ridden area he was in. Cherry Hill wasn t built as a sustainable community for its
families... over half of the eight thousand residents lived below the poverty line (Moore, p.29).
This quote shows how the author intended for the reader to use this setting later in the book to
compare Wes s life to what it was back then. In the poem if, the author presented the problem of
how doubt holds you back. If you can trust yourself when all omen doubt you, (Kipling). This
shows how the author brings the reader s attention to this problem, therefore, making them
ponder over it. This provides awareness to the problem and shows the reader how breaking out
of this mindset could be beneficial to your success. Both of these texts display a use of setting to
cause the reader to, in if s case, consider the problem, thus making it more aware, and The Other
Wes Moore uses it to piece together certain parts of Wes s Life. Characterization is a key
component of building a theme in a story. In The Other Wes Moore, Wes s life

Film Analysis Of The Film The Scarlett Letter
The Scarlett Letter 1995 Film Analysis
The Scarlett Letter, is about a young mistress named Hester Prynne. In 1666, after moving to the
Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in
love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other
passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and
Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Hester soon becomes the subject
of idle gossip among the colonists after she shares her radical thoughts and views on the Bible
and the Puritan way of life. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester
become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before
the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. Hester is then
arrested and imprisoned for her indiscretion. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child,
Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on
her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in
public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and
held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias,
Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Roger eventually scalps and kills a male colonist that he thought was
Arthur, and blames the murder on the Algonquian Indians, which prompts the declaration of war on
the Indians by the colonists. Roger commits suicide for his wrong doings, Hester and Arthur
abandon the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the scarlet letter to set out for Carolina to start a new
life. I do believe that The Scarlett Letter is historically accurate. I think the writers and directors
accurately communicated the sense of historic time and place, it really felt like I left the 21st
century and stepped back in time. There are several pieces of evidence within the film that are
historically accurate. In one of the first scenes of the film, the narrator describes Hester Prynne as
she comes from England to the New World, My name is Pearl. This is the story

Existentialism In The Stranger
The novel, The Stranger, written by French author Albert Camus, is a philosophical fiction piece
published in 1942. This book used both Existentialism and Absurdism to promote Meursault s
problem throughout the book. Both of these are related to Modernism, which was the aftermath of
the industrial revolution. Modernism is a philosophical movement that along with cultural trends
and changes arose wide scale and far reaching transformations in western society during the late
19th and early 20th century (Koofers 1). Modernism was branched into different styles of art but
they all had something in common, a rejection of history and applied ornament; a preference for
abstraction; and a belief that design and technology could transform... Show more content on

At the funeral, he was indifferent to the situation, he didn t really mourn for his mother. Another
example, was when Meursault helped Raymond write a letter because he didn t have anything
else to do. Another one was when Meursault just stood there and watched Raymond beat up his
girlfriend, without saying anything and refused to call the cops just because he didn t he didn t
like them. A final example from the first part of the book was before Meursault hit the turning
point, he refused a job offer in Paris because he thought life would still be the same even if he
was in a different area. These brief examples show that Meursault is ignoring the social critique.
All of his actions are related to Clairvoyance, a surrealist art by RenГ© Magritte. In the painting,
RenГ© Magritte predicted the future of the egg onto a canvas and in The Stranger, Meursault s
actions lead us to predict that things weren t going to go great for him within the end of the first
part. Unlike the Existentialist model, the Aristotle model suggests the opposite by portraying a
character who fits the role of a tragic hero and faces a tragic flaw. A tragic hero is a character that
eventually makes the wrong judgment at the climax of the book that leads the character to his/her
own destruction. An Aristotelian model is different from an Existentialist model because the
character goes through a fall in their social status. An example of

Pay Day Loan Research Paper
Any loan resulting in a release of cash during times of immediate financial crises would be
termed as best payday loan. It is only after the purpose for which the loan was taken gets satisfied
that we start thinking critically of the loan. It will be wrong to term this tendency as selfishness.
Payday loans are actually made dearer by loanproviders. Many borrowers actually decide to take
loans at any terms stated by the lenders because of the urgency involved in the situation. Lenders
will not miss to profit of this opportunity. Thus, we find best payday loans costing dearly to its
borrowers. High rates of interest and large fees are often appended to the payday loan, thus
increasing the cost of the payday loan.

Depending on the needs of the borrowers and the lending policy adhered to by the lender, the
borrowable amount may further go upwards. These funds will be used by borrowers to expend
with ease.
Payday loans are short term loans. The amount has to be returned with the interest within a month;
sometimes within weeks. Lenders may employ different methods to get back the money. The most
popular of these is the post dated cheque system. The cheque is dated for presentation on the
desired date. On the specific date, the amount is automatically cut from the borrowers account. For
this purpose, some loan providers would require the borrower to have a checking account.
The post dated cheque may also serve as collateral. In this sense, Best payday loans may also be
regarded as secured loans. Borrowers, who desire to have best payday loans without the clause of
collateral, will have to further search the UK financial market. The concept of unsecured payday
loans is fast catching up with lenders in the UK, and it may not be much difficult to have best
payday loans without collateral.
There are certain essentials that the borrower needs to have in order to become eligible for best
payday loans. The borrower needs to be employed with a regular income that is transferred directly
into his bank account. The borrower must have a chequebook and a checking account as mentioned
before.
An important advantage of best payday loans is that credit history

America s Beer And Alcoholic Beverages
Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating
this country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common
thread in our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country
modernized in the late 1800 s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And
of those breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country s market
share. Our country was carved up by three large beercompanies; Miller was popular in the North,
Budweiser was popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West. Adolph
Coors was an American success story and the company he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1940 s, the brewery introduced their line of premium beer calling it Banquet Coors , or as
we know that brand today as Coors. Coors became the beer for many famous actors and politicians,
which gave that brand prestige. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their
marketing campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will
argue later in this analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased
market share in the 1980 s.
In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum
cans. This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only
large beer company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their
delivery process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash
cow with their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was
required to age longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be
shipped cold.
I argue that if not for the innovative process of aluminum cans, Coors would not have enjoyed the
success they did in 1960 s and early 1970 s. This was the peak of their innovative culture in the
company. Their opportunities then were how to decrease carrying and delivery costs due to their
unique brewing process and market a

Arminianism Vs Pelagianism
Dave Hunt says that usually Calvinist call Pelagians or Semi Pelagian to those Christians that reject
their doctrine, but it is important to know the differences between Arminianism and Pelagianism to
avoid being confused.
In conclusion, we can say that Pelagianism rejects the belief and the doctrine of the Original Sin
and claim that humans have not been corrupted, so people are capable of deciding to do good and
avoid sin without the help of God. In summary, humans are capable of merit salvation on their own
without God s grace. Pelagius believed that the only thing that can affect us to obey God would be
the human ignorance of God s will.
Salvation in Pelagianism came through obedience. People are justified in on the basis of merits as

Kim Dovey Becoming Places Summary
In Kim Dovey s Becoming Places, she begins by introducing the concepts of place and space. As
Dovey distinguishes between the two concepts, she explains that place tends to connect social and
spatial, whereas space is simply concerned on the physical space itself. In other words, as Dovey
describes, while a spacehas physical dimensions, intensity gives rise to the potency and primacy
of place (Dovey, pg. 3). Dovey goes on to explain the general use of place in academic discourse
and how it tends to differ from the use of the concept in everyday life. From a philosophical
standpoint, place has emerged from the Greek topos, a concept which stresses the inseparable
nature of both place and being or existence. Moving forward through time,

The Inequality Of Women s Leadership
The Inequality of Women in Leadership Throughout history, the United States have overcome a
number of inequalities and discovered our many freedoms. In the modern age we now live, every
individual should have equal rights. Theoretically we do, but technically there are still areas of
inequality, specifically in business management. Women are facing difficulties in advancing to
leadershippositions within most fields, especially in Fortune 500companies. Female leaders
continually face difficulties both when inquiring decision making positions as well as while in
leadership roles. By combining research I ve come across in leadership, genderroles, stereotyping
and management statistics, this paper will consider the barriers, as well as... Show more content on

Chemers perceived that there are three theoretical explanations for the main differences between
male and female leadership. One difference, the most obvious, is biological differences, which is
based around hormones and temperament. The second difference is culturally diversities. This tells
that socialized roles are varied per culture. The final difference is structurally determined. The
different sexs have very diverse organizational structures (Eagly, Makhijani, Klonsky, 1992;
Chemers, 2000). Placing practical differences aside, the essential problem with women leadership
roles is actually seen in the attitudes of those around them. The attitudes people have towards
women when they are the ones making decisions are a perception with no objectivity, formally
known as a stereotype.
Stereotyping is one of the main obstacles women endure in their leadership positions. Gender
Role Theory is the development of expectations people create of their own and others behavior
based on the beliefs about what is appropriate for both male and females. For example, if a female
were to pull out a man s chair at a restaurant before seating herself or open his car door before
getting in the car, that would be found as odd behavior for a women.

Compare The Metamorphosis And It s A Wonderful Life
The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful Life : The Importance of Family Support The
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life by Francis Copler don t seem
to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the
other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of
unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosis and
It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation
where they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys
they went through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences.... Show more content on

Gregor s transformation begins when he wakes up and is morphed into an insect, and watches
his family s lives progress without him able to support himself, let alone them. In both of the
transformations, the two are self sacrificing, and feel unappreciated. They are stuck in what they
see as a dead end job. They are stuck in an unending cycle of work and drudgery, doing something
they hate for others. Then there is a big problem in each of their lives. For George it s the
possible jail time, and for Gregor it s morphing into a giant insect. With so many similarities
between the two stories you might expect the outcomes to be the same, or at least similar, but
they are surprisingly different. The difference between the two transformations can even be
considered extremes. The two are opposites. George Bailey regains his humanity and enjoyment
of life when he finds out how important to others and how loved he really is. He ends up a happy
and wealthy man. Gregor on the other hand loses his humanity after finding that his family can
support themselves and would be happier without him, and thru his family s betrayal and neglect
dies a sad death. George s family base is strong and sturdy, and during his time of need they all

The Planners Poem
The speaker is very fearful of the idea of modernisation and does not see any good in it.
Firstly, he is very skeptical towards the planners who plan this idea of modernisation. The writer
starts of the poem with They plan. It is unclear of who the writer is referring to, which I imply that
he is referring to the planners. The writer tries to distance himself from the planners, and does not
want anything to do with them by not acknowledging who they are. Besides that, his second
sentence of the poem is also related to them. The repetition of the word They many times
emphasises how powerful and mysterious are the people behind the city s construction and to rebel
against them would be practically impossible. Additionally, the speakerdescribes them as people
who build and will not stop . Nothing has the power to stop the planners, it is a hopeless battle if
anyone even attempts to rebel against this plan. There is a certainty about this sentence that ... Show

even nature is conquered by the planners. This both shows that even nature cannot do anything and

strings. However, mathematics , on the other hand, is made up of rules and obtain straight,

Cell Phone Radiation Essay
Purpose: My purpose is to provide information on cell phone radiation, the risks that can be caused
by cell phone radiation, and the potential health problems that could result from this. Details of the
topic: I am going to talk about the arguments about how cell phone radiation can affect our lives

radiation that has the ability to cause health issues. The radiation from this device can cause serious

from 0 to 10В№Вє in hertz (Hz). Furthermore the group also mentioned that, even though the
frequency for non ionizing radiation is less dangerous, it is still possible to have side effects
that may affect to our personal lives. There was a class where at the end we had a very brief
discussion about radiation from electronics and the topic of cell phones/smart phones was brought
up by few students when they were asked about their opinion or personal experience. Some side
effects they mentioned from using their cell phones/smart phones constantly were having
problems falling asleep along with minor headaches. Reflection: This voluntary assignment helps
me because it provides some very interesting facts and debates about the side effects of cell phone

have not talked a lot about the radiation from technology. We presume this kind of radiation is too
low to have serious effects on us. However, I remember that I actually had some problems when I

What Does Functionalism Mean In The Maze Runner
According to Naiman (2012), functionalism is a sociological framework that compares society to an
organism with interrelated and important parts that lead to the collective entity of society. Each
element is considered to have an equally important function within society that ensures its survival
(Naiman, 2012). In order to do so, all of the interconnected parts of society must work together in
harmony (Naiman, 2012). However, it is also important to note that while certain functional
elements within society, such as war, can be beneficial they are by no means inevitable or ideal to
the individuals within the society (Naiman, 2012). In the film The Maze Runner, we see the
concept of functionalismappear at the start of the film (Goldsmith Vein,

Star performers are workers who add more value than average workers. They tend to produce better results and earn quicker promotions than the average worker. They attract a great amount of interest and admiration within the company. People who admire star producers, assume the results are from an high IQ or ingrown ability to reason that is better than most people in their situation. It is also from exceptional personality factors such as self confidence, and a highly refined social factor such as being able to gather a team of motivated workers. How Does Monetary Policy Affect Housing Development 1 BUS 2203: PRINCIPLES OF FINANCE 1 BUS 2203 AY2017 T1 UNIT 2: Interest Rates MONETARY POLICY AND HOUSING MARKET DEVELOPMENTS INSTRUCTOR: Sali Bakare DATE SUBMITTED: 09/14/2016 Abstract After reading the paper carefully, I see that the role the setting of monetary policy played in housing market developments was smaller than a lot of researchers suggests, although monetary policies do really influence in housing market developments. One can easily conclude monetary policy was not a primary cause of the bubble in house prices and activity. Yes, there was a contribution by the fed s interest rate policies to the housing bubble, but only to an extent. But also there is evidence that the monetary policy was aligned with the goals of policymakers and with the real time overall thought at that time. Taking into considerations what the paper suggests, one can at least have a doubt whether the relationship between the house bubble and activity and the interest rates and monetary policies is not strong enough to explain such a shift in the house prices and residential investments. Introduction Why does the monetary policy affect housing development? We have to look further on the economic value housing brings to an economy. Housing is an essential sector of the economy but also one that has been the source of vulnerabilities and crises. Hence, while the recent recovery in global housing markets is a welcome development, we need to guard against another unsustainable boom. Housing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It may seem as so. Throughout his lifetime Hemingway has had numerous wives or girlfriends, most of them containing conflict. The sensory sweep of her novel carries no theme, no message, no thought. In the main, her novel is not addressed to the Negro, but to a white audience whose chauvinistic tastes she knows how to satisfy. She exploits the phase of Negro life which is quaint, the phase which evokes a piteous smile on the lips of the superior race. from Their Eyes Were Watching God(1937), a review by Richard Wright An unfortunate side effect of the postmodern tendency is often reactions like the above. Zora exhibits these tendancies, which, taken separately, have been expounded upon but not yet fully exhausted, and the time has come to realize her as a postmodern force. Jean Francois Lyotard, in his essay, The Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge, defines postmodernism as incredulity toward metannaratives (Lyotard, 71). This works out to mean that the overarching metanarrative of the world, which is given to us by the ruling class if one subscribes to class theories, that forms our worldview has failed to fulfill our needs. The world is now seen as intersecting micronarratives; people can relate because their personal explanation of the world connects with another s explanation, but are recognizably individual because no two worldviews are identical. All micronarratives are equally valid in Lyotard s theories, and this fits in nicely with postmodernism s push towards inclusion rather than marginalization. This theory also pushes postmodernism into one of its other major facets, the breakdown of binary systems. Hassan is the pundit of the anti binarial division of the postmodern. He details that postmodernism is not anti modernism; it is not a reaction to or successive movement. Indeed, it is different than modernism, but also shares many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another negative aspect was the flashbacks of Carla s childhood where she would be teased and bullied because she was different . A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis can be carried out to assess the condition of the business as it might give a clear direction about how to take maximum advantage of the strengths, resolve weaknesses, exploit opportunities and avoid threats. The Social Responsibility Of The Workplace Introduction Archie Carroll defines corporate social responsibility (CSR) as the social responsibility of business encompassing the economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary expectations that society has of these organizations at a given point in time. (Crane, 5) Interesting enough, there has been an abrupt growth of firm s engagement in CSR within all industries. This is the result of growing requests from the civil society demanding firms, of all sizes, to legitimize their practices. (Crane, 4) More importantly, workplace issues have become an integral part of corporate social responsibility. This includes a firm s lacking efforts in its occupational health and safety, and its fair pay and conditions, amongst others. (Crane, 253) As employees reside in the midst of companies engaging in corporate social responsibility, the reputation of the firm relies profoundly on ensuring all those within the in house workplaces as well as the outsourced workplaces are treated justly and within the operating country s legislation. (Crane, 253) Further to this, social injustice that occurs can negatively affect the firm s reputation and brand favorability. (Crane, 254) Therefore, it was within the firm s best interests to fulfill their core corporate responsibilities in the workplace. Albeit corporations may have the intention to act within labour standards, circumstances do arise where the rights of employees are neglected and the morality of the firm is questioned. The Benefits Of Peaceful Protests With the recent election and the noticeable division in our country today, it is worth noting the benefits of a peaceful protest compared the most violent of protests. Does even the strongest person have any control over a government if they cannot exhibit their self control? Is a government going to listen to a bunch of violent citizens or a group of young people standing against a law with signs? Throughout history it is shown that positive resistance to laws positively impacts a free society by promoting a peaceful community of citizens and increases the chance of a governmentlistening to its people and their concerns. Because of the increased violence, more laws and restrictions will be set in place to take charge of the people. If a government is too focused on enforcing laws to stop violence, then the free society that the people are living in soon turns to be more controlling. Keeping a free society relies on the government focusing on the needs of the people not the needs of the government; if violence were to be the people s solution, government would not be able to focus on the needs of the people, but the need to fix the destruction being caused. Martin Luther King Jr. states that creative tension needs to be implemented in order for a community that has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. In Pietro s group, they used an essence machine to show that everything is just a game. This acts in contrast to the themes of the play Fate, bad luck and destiny. This is because the play has a serious ending to it as the twins die. • 33. Differences Between Morgenthau And Kant A school of thought, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a point of view held by a particular group. Schools of thought relating to world politics are theories that have been the center and cause of countless debates. Two of the most well known and influential schools of thought in the realm of international politics are realism and liberalism. While the ideas making up both systems have been around for centuries, each school has been since furthered and analyzed by international relationsexperts and philosophers. Two notable figures of realism and liberalism are Hans Morgenthauand Immanuel Kant, respectively, who formed basic principles that became the center of each school of thought. There are several key differences between Morgenthau and Kant. Some of these lie in their opposing views on international systems, states as actors in international affairs, and ethical issues. Others revolve around government systems and the concept of human nature. Hans Morgenthau, a philosopher of realist thought, believed individual states to be the most important actors on the international stage. He argues that states are self interested forces constantly vying with other states for dominance; that they re vying with them for power. Power refers to anything that establishes and maintains the control of man over man. States are consistently consumed with the process of maintaining the power they already have and acquiring more. • 40. Analysis Of The Other Wes Moore Effort and Success s obvious correlation. Free will and determinism are like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you is determinism. The way you play your hand is free will. Norman Cousins. This quote was the basic underlying moral of the book The Other Wes Moore and the short story The Third and Final Continent. The poem if acts as a guideline for a person s willpower. The poem If shows the reader the steps to follow to come out of a situation of doubt with sheer will power. The Other Wes Moore conveys this same theme when the main character breaks out of poverty in a first desperate, but then determined childhood. The Third and Final Continent follows the story of a talented young student and the hardships faced in his unfamiliar new life in The United States of America. These texts, If, The Other Wes Moore, and The Third and Final Continent represent how effort becomes the driving force of success even in improbable circumstances through use of setting, characterization, and conflict. Setting can affect a characters outcome drastically which directly affects the theme. The Other Wes Moore utilizes the environment to show the dis advantages that Wes faced in order to get out of the poverty ridden area he was in. Cherry Hill wasn t built as a sustainable community for its families... over half of the eight thousand residents lived below the poverty line (Moore, p.29). This quote shows how the author intended for the reader to use this setting later in the book to compare Wes s life to what it was back then. In the poem if, the author presented the problem of how doubt holds you back. If you can trust yourself when all omen doubt you, (Kipling). This shows how the author brings the reader s attention to this problem, therefore, making them ponder over it. This provides awareness to the problem and shows the reader how breaking out of this mindset could be beneficial to your success. Both of these texts display a use of setting to cause the reader to, in if s case, consider the problem, thus making it more aware, and The Other Wes Moore uses it to piece together certain parts of Wes s Life. In 1666, after moving to the Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. Hester is then arrested and imprisoned for her indiscretion. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child, Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias, Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Roger eventually scalps and kills a male colonist that he thought was Arthur, and blames the murder on the Algonquian Indians, which prompts the declaration of war on the Indians by the colonists. Roger commits suicide for his wrong doings, Hester and Arthur abandon the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the scarlet letter to set out for Carolina to start a new life. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their marketing campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will argue later in this analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased market share in the 1980 s. In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum cans. This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only large beer company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their delivery process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash cow with their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was required to age longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be shipped cold. The different sexs have very diverse organizational structures (Eagly, Makhijani, Klonsky, 1992; Chemers, 2000). Placing practical differences aside, the essential problem with women leadership roles is actually seen in the attitudes of those around them. The attitudes people have towards women when they are the ones making decisions are a perception with no objectivity, formally known as a stereotype. Stereotyping is one of the main obstacles women endure in their leadership positions. • 50. The Planners Poem The speaker is very fearful of the idea of modernisation and does not see any good in it. Firstly, he is very skeptical towards the planners who plan this idea of modernisation. The writer starts of the poem with They plan. It is unclear of who the writer is referring to, which I imply that he is referring to the planners. The writer tries to distance himself from the planners, and does not want anything to do with them by not acknowledging who they are. Besides that, his second sentence of the poem is also related to them. The repetition of the word They many times emphasises how powerful and mysterious are the people behind the city s construction and to rebel against them would be practically impossible. Additionally, the speakerdescribes them as people who build and will not stop . Nothing has the power to stop the planners, it is a hopeless battle if anyone even attempts to rebel against this plan. The word grace is supposed to imply moving freely in unrestrained strings. However, mathematics , on the other hand, is made up of rules and obtain straight, unrestricted lines. What Does Functionalism Mean In The Maze Runner According to Naiman (2012), functionalism is a sociological framework that compares society to an organism with interrelated and important parts that lead to the collective entity of society. Each element is considered to have an equally important function within society that ensures its survival (Naiman, 2012).
